We're going to play a little game we call Spill the Tea.
00:00:15
Speaker
Hey,

Focus on Six Flags Issues and Events

00:00:16
Speaker
everybody. Welcome to Thrills, Chills, and Spills, where we spill the tea on all things theme parks, special events, and especially spooky season. And we have a lot of spooky to cover today.
00:00:26
Speaker
We're going to get to that later, though. um I'm Kelly. I'm Joey. I'm Tyler. And I'm Rafa. All right. Today we are going to start like we usually do with our spills.
00:00:38
Speaker
What do you guys have? Six Flags being messy. we All over the place. Just say Six Flags and we can just end That is it. That is the entire spills. So much.
00:00:50
Speaker
Six Flags is Six Flagging. Yeah. yeah So they delayed King to cause replacement indefinitely. Actually, they didn't even say 2027. They just said beyond 2026, which is hilarious. But at at the very least, they've started construction like there's dirt moving and footers going on. So in theory, 27. But I think they're holding their cards close in case there's another delay. So who knows on that one?
00:01:17
Speaker
um What else has happened? Quantum accelerators delayed. yep Also indefinitely, I think. And that one had a set date, so that's going to piss off people.
00:01:30
Speaker
Yeah. Even more. not great. Multiple seasonal events canceled. Yes. So my home park, Six Flags Over Georgia, canceled Holiday in the Park. And they're just closing early now at the end of November, i believe. Who else did? Six Flags Adventure.
00:01:48
Speaker
ye ah And then some of them you even canceled their Halloween events. Yeah. America canceled theirs. I saw it today. Six Flags America canceled theirs. Michigan's Adventure.
00:02:00
Speaker
Valley Fair, did they? Yeah. Michigan's adventure is compensating people by giving them a day ticket to Cedar Point. Sorry. yeah You don't get like a... Don't come here, though.
00:02:15
Speaker
That's just hilarious to me. That's great the Halloween events, though. Yeah, Six Flags America actually had a reportedly like one of the better ones out of Six Flags. Yeah, and that screams, like well, we know the fate of America, but that's concerning for the fate of some of these other parks that typically had haunt.
00:02:33
Speaker
They're really going to end their season at the end of summer. That's just a little wild. I'm very glad that Dorney is still having Haunt because I really enjoy their Haunt, and I feel like they get a ton of people for it. Yeah. And I'm just like, I've been thinking about this recently just because it's been so freaking hot.
00:02:48
Speaker
And like, I have to wonder if the the trends in visitation of these parks is going to evolve ever like into the shoulder season, as they call it, because people are like the summer is just disgusting. Like, do people really want to keep subjecting themselves to that?
00:03:05
Speaker
And I know that a lot of that is driven by, you know, the school season and when kids are out of school. But at the same time, I like wonder even if school schedules will kind of evolve a little bit based on that. Like they've already kind of been shifting backwards, at least when I was a kid.
00:03:19
Speaker
We didn't start until um like after ah Labor Day in September. And now they like schools start like the first or second week of August. So they're already kind of pushing into traditional summer. I'm just kind of curious, like how that's going to evolve.

Personal Experiences at Theme Parks

00:03:33
Speaker
because i would much rather be at a theme park in september and october that's for sure same in july and the haunt events are such money makers for the parks i really just don't understand lot move i know yeah it doesn't make sense yeah so what else like any other spells six flags Yeah, I'll talk about mine. um Stopped into BGW on Sunday for a few hours, and I was very visiting my parents.
00:04:02
Speaker
It was extremely hot. I took a screenshot here. 95 degrees, the the temperature, feels like 119. I have never seen that in my entire life.
00:04:14
Speaker
But I was bored, so I stopped into BGW. Yeah. um Figured I would get on a couple of water rides, maybe ride a coaster. Skate from Pompeii. Closed. Don't know why. Maybe it's maintenance, whatever, but i don't know. A Sunday in the summer when it feels like 119, maybe not the best timing for that.
00:04:35
Speaker
Not sure what was going on with it. um Log Flume was open. I didn't ride it because it had a really long line, but that was open. I did get on Roman Rapids and I had not ridden that since high school. I really didn't remember much about it, but it's sort of just a very basic Rapids ride.
00:04:53
Speaker
But the problem was the water felt like bath water. It was so hot. It was not refreshing at all. Even the waterfall, Joey, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. The waterfall coming off the little, um,
00:05:07
Speaker
like the rock wall area even that was hot like i was expecting that to be cold because it's coming it's yeah would think it would be like fresher water than what's in the the trough area but no it was not refreshing whatsoever gross there was no work in that ride I couldn't tell you, though, like how it actually i don't think it does refresh the water like from like a new source necessarily. It's just circulating.
00:05:34
Speaker
So it's it got that hot because of being out in that disgusting weather. Is it just pulling it like is the trough, the water that you're floating in the same that's coming off the waterfall? Yeah.
00:05:44
Speaker
Oh, it's little gross. They just put it up there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I saw some worse water this weekend, but we can talk about that. Oh, no.
00:05:55
Speaker
Gross. and Anyway, yeah otherwise, my visit is fine. They gave me $30 Bush bucks. That's kind of half the reason I wanted to go. And I just got like a little magnet and got a free lunch and stuff. But ah it they say $30, but they actually give you three $10 ones.
00:06:13
Speaker
But you can only use one per transaction. So if you think you're going to buy a t-shirt for free, no, you're going to get $10 off of the one because you can only use one.
00:06:24
Speaker
Wow. so That's where they get you. Classic C's. Yeah. Six Flags, C's. The corporatification.
00:06:35
Speaker
It's so depressing. And now we just had Hershen to like buy up a bunch of ah the Palace Parks. So really there's like three big chains and that's it. Kind of crazy.
00:06:46
Speaker
Like the regional market has changed so much over the last two years. Yeah. Long live holiday world in parks like that. Hershey Park.
00:06:57
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. All right. So we will move into some trick recaps from our travels in July. Not a ton of stuff, but we definitely have all been some different places. I know earlier in the month, um Joey and Rafa, you were both at Over Georgia.
00:07:14
Speaker
i was that day? We met up for a couple of hours. um We were actually in Atlanta for a concert. We were going to the Beyonce concert in Atlanta. Which was a great time, but we wanted to try to squeeze in some cred hoeing for Shay because she had never been to um over Georgia.
00:07:33
Speaker
So we got there pretty early, i think like an hour before opening, like at 10 o'clock or so. Yeah, y'all beat me. Yeah, i know. I was like, what is this? I was expecting to like see Joey waiting there. Nope, I was like the second person there.
00:07:47
Speaker
um so we were just waiting there. and then we yeah And then we met up with Joey shortly after opening, and we cred-ran the park. and we got to I got to experience Georgia Gold Rusher for the first time, which was a lot of fun. i enjoyed it.
00:08:04
Speaker
I'm glad I didn't have to wait in that brutal queue that is like... shadeless there's absolutely nothing there to cover you from the sun especially with this brutal heat um but very cute ride i thought it was fun the airtime i enjoyed a lot on that like in that little hill um but the theming was really nice i enjoyed that um but yeah it wasn't too bad as far as like getting through everything we got through everything in what like four and a half hours five hours
00:08:35
Speaker
Yeah, and we weren't like rushing by any means. We had some downtime issues, yeah like some things that were closed when we first started trying to get there. But yeah, no. ah We did our traditional, or my traditional Sunday rope drop, and I just kind of... Sometimes on an easier day, even, it can take me like two hours just hop around real quick and get everything. But yeah, I think it went pretty well.
00:08:57
Speaker
Yeah, pretty soon. The Gold Rushers supposedly had ah some kind of Intamin... modification to spin more, it did not spin more. yeah did that Yeah, that did not spin. We barely spun. We did not make a full rotation at all. That's for for sure. It was like halfway through maybe, right? It got like half of a rotation basically. It never went around all the way, that's for sure. yeah so If anybody's worried about spinning too much, um not really.
00:09:24
Speaker
You'll be fine. You won't get nauseous. You'll be just fine. It was still a fun ride. I think it's a cute little... plus one and the theming is nice it sucked that the water effects weren't on when we were there or at least when we rode i don't know if it was on later on in the day you know since we were only there for half the day i doubt it probably not yeah yeah yeah the um the waterfall over by the like the theming the themed waterfall over there was shut down too and i was like dang already like they started out so strong with like everything working um
00:09:54
Speaker
That being said, the waterfall over at Mindbender is now on, which is really nice to see. That hasn't been on in like 10 plus years, I think. So that was cool. Like walking through the queue and being like, oh my gosh, there's water under this queue now. And then like you go through the final loop and you see the waterfall rushing down. and It's nice. I'm glad they fixed that.
00:10:12
Speaker
Hopefully they can get the other waterfall working again too. Yeah. And then um we got to see the cool effects inside of the Batman queue right in the station, which looked really nice.
00:10:23
Speaker
um Honestly, I hardly remember, remembered over Georgia prior to this visit. I only went that one time for the stumble and I have not gone ever since.
00:10:33
Speaker
So it felt like a new experience regardless, but it was a good time. Everything looked really good. and um Shay accidentally got 200 on Batman. Which that was not the plan.
00:10:45
Speaker
Her counting was like one off. It was hilarious. She was off the entire time. Like she was like, no, this is going to be 200. I'm like, are you sure? Like she's yeah, I'm looking at it. I'm like, okay. She wasn't counting. I think she forgot to count one the entire time.
00:10:59
Speaker
Yeah, we spent like an hour talking about is it going to be the mind train or Twisted Cyclone? Yeah. she was like like It was so anticlimactic. We're heading off for the mind train for it to be 200. And she's like, wait, wait, just kidding. It Batman.
00:11:15
Speaker
And we're not stuck on Batman. That was pretty much fun. Oh my god, yeah. no The thing is that she like she loves mine trains, but i was like, no, I don't think this is one of those that you're going to love like that. That's in my like bottom probably 25. That thing like really hurt me.
00:11:30
Speaker
and yes it was like it's It's fine, but I'm like, you're not going to want to make that. your channel Twisted Cyclone would have been better of the two to pick, but yeah um Batman's not a bad one at that point at least.
00:11:44
Speaker
What was her favorite? I don't remember like of the day. I think just because she's a Woody girl, I think it was. Scream machine. Scream machine. Yeah. I do remember how much she liked that coming off of it. it was kind Oh, she loved it. Like she would have written it a bunch of times afterwards. yeah Had we not, you know, been running, you know, to get through every cred.
00:12:04
Speaker
Yeah. But. Yeah, I think that was her favorite. And my friend, my friend Mauricio, he joined us. He was there as well. He's not a coaster guy whatsoever, but he just was vibing. um He actually told me afterwards that his favorite ride there was Superman. I'm like, really?
00:12:18
Speaker
ah like, Superman was your favorite? was like, okay. I mean, it's like mostly graceful. It's always good to get non-coaster people in there to see their opinions, though.
00:12:29
Speaker
i i get more I get more out of that than like going with like coaster people. because like I want to hear what you think about some of these things. like We love it, and I know that we love it. but you know he wouldn't He wouldn't ride Goliath or Twisted Cycle. Oh, no. He didn't do those there.
00:12:43
Speaker
he was like i am not he's like, I am not getting on that. and Then there was a video on TikTok today that he actually sent me that like some girl was freaking out about her restraint on Goliath. and He's like, this is why i didn't want to ride it. I'm like, it would have been fine. like Nothing was going to happen.
00:12:58
Speaker
That's a really good point though. Like it really is fun to go with people that aren't like into roller coasters. Sometimes, obviously i love like riding rides with you guys, but like, if I like go with my brother and sister-in-law, like they don't know like what's supposed to be good. Like we fall into all these biases of like, Oh, we go to Hershey park and like, okay, sky rush and wildcats revenge are the best rides there. But like, what is an, what is a non-coaster enthusiast think? And it's usually not the same and it's really fun.
00:13:24
Speaker
Yeah. Different perspective for sure. Yeah. have Yeah. So that was a lot of fun. but But yeah, that was our short little visit to over Georgia. It was nice to hang with Joey for a bit.
00:13:35
Speaker
And we got through everything pretty quickly. So it was a successful morning. Cool. Yeah. fun um Joey, where else did you go this month trying to like win the coaster challenge again? oh gosh. um These were both planned pretty last minute just because of my silly airline life. But I went to Elitch Gardens.
00:13:56
Speaker
Kelly and I had previously visited on a very similarly toxic Denver trip where we it was a day trip, right? Yeah, we got in Tuesday night really late. Like technically, I think Wednesday morning when I ended and then we left Wednesday night.
00:14:11
Speaker
Yeah, a while we were there like not very long, but we did Glenwood Caverns and Elitches and like a random carnival fair and a mountain coaster. Oh, and mountain coasters. Yeah. And a brewery. We killed it.
00:14:25
Speaker
And Chili's. We did a crap ton of stuff in the one day. yeah um But because we were well, actually, it was really because of the weather. So towards the end, like as we were heading for Elish is our last park, it thunderstormed and everything was closed at the park when we initially walked in.
00:14:41
Speaker
And we are really in a rush trying to get all the creds. So Boomerang was open and we just did not make it there in time before it closed. And Sidewinder had been closed for like years or whatever at that time.
00:14:53
Speaker
um So I saw that on social media that Sidewinder had reopened and I was like, oh my gosh, this is the opportunity to go get that. And then Boomerang was on my little Buzzbars coaster challenge. I was like, OK, let me go knock knock those two down.
00:15:07
Speaker
And the luck was with me, which a lot of times it's not at that park. And I managed to get on both of them. um Sidewinder is probably ah like a notch below Diamondback. It's not my favorite of that model, but I do think they're kind of fun. Like they have good airtime and the launches are kind of fun, I guess.
00:15:26
Speaker
um And the boomerang was a boomerang. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. So you didn't miss anything, Kelly, really. I'm not concerned. But it was pretty hilarious because Twister 3 was down.
00:15:37
Speaker
So I actually saw Nate, um Nate K from the UK trip was happened to be there the same day I was there. so that And we saw each other and we were talking about And i was like, yeah, there's literally like three guys up on the, the,
00:15:52
Speaker
really high turnaround of twister three working on it i don't think you're gonna get it it's just kind of the curse of elich is like you can't go there once and get everything you have to go more than once it's terrible so yeah that was fine uh but appreciation to denver transit i love that i could take the train there and just walk it was very very easy to get there um and then i just had some good food and i left i think i was in denver like less time than i spent flying there and back

Texas Wonderland and Amarillo Adventures

00:16:19
Speaker
so yeah
00:16:22
Speaker
That's a cred whore right there. Literally. And then I basically did the same thing this past Saturday for Texas Wonderland and Amarillo of all places, which Delta doesn't fly to. So I had to take Southwest two legs. I had to fly to Dallas and then fly to Amarillo. And then that didn't work because there weren't enough seats to Amarillo. So I had to fly to Lubbock and drive an hour and 45 minutes from Lubbock up to Amarillo I'm like redoing my rental car booking last minute.
00:16:55
Speaker
um Anyway, the park literally doesn't open till 1 p.m. So I didn't even miss the rope drop because they open so late. ah So I got there and then basically just...
00:17:06
Speaker
cred right in the park um i did their dark ride fantastic journey which is kind of like one of the classic ones like the little two-person vehicle with those big tires that's powered kind of like wacky shack at waldemere um it is not as good as wacky shack though unfortunately but it was kind of like spooky vibes so that was it was entertaining but it wasn't like great um and then they have a lot of unique coasters i mean none of them are like amazing i will say that the The F'd up loops Hopkins roller coaster was better than I expected it to be because it looks so messed up. You just expect it to run like really terribly, but it doesn't like it's not as rough as you might expect.
00:17:47
Speaker
um Yeah, there's really nothing that notable else there. They have like one of those Mylar wild mice like the lakeside in Denver. That's the other thing we did in Denver is lakeside. Oh, yeah.
00:17:58
Speaker
And that thing is sketchy as hell because there's no restraining. Yeah, that was terrifying. The head choppers are insane. Like you could actually hurt yourself on those rides. um So yeah, I did that and then made it to the back of the park. Not that it's very big and saw that the one coaster at that park on my challenge was closed and I found an employee and they said, there's a broken sensor. It's going to be down all day. And I was like, no, i know the feeling.
00:18:25
Speaker
Yeah, I know. You're an Arkansas twister from last year. So that's that hit me this time. I got spited. um And I am not planning to go back to that park anytime soon. It is like it reminded me of places like Adventureland in New York and Castle Park in California.
00:18:42
Speaker
These kind of like smaller parks that sort of give fairground vibes because they have that like temporary fencing around the rides and not a lot of theming, except this one was like worse.
00:18:55
Speaker
uh it just didn't have as many trees and like didn't have as many cute areas like I thought Adventureland was kind of cute I can't remember any of y'all have been there but yeah yeah like it had some charm to it and Castle Park does as well like there's a section that has like theming and trees and it's decorated and I was like this is kind of nice nicer than I expected but nope it's just no shade and like the blazing Texas heat and is it like in the middle I expected it to be like is it the middle of a field or is it like in Amarillo like in the city It is not in the city. It's like to the north of the city. And it kind of reminded me of um Six Flags over Texas, at least over by Shockwave because it's right next to the highway.
00:19:32
Speaker
Okay. So you're riding like the Hopkins going through the loop and the highway is like right next to you. Okay. Yeah. Adventureland in New York is like in a Target parking lot. I was like, what is going on here? Yeah.
00:19:44
Speaker
That was yeah interesting. Small parks are so interesting. I'll be honest. It was actually like adjacent to ah um to a public park as well. So that kind of reminded me of like park eight attractions that we talked about the other week, because that is in like a massive public park and it's just one tiny section. That's kind of how this was.
00:20:01
Speaker
I don't think it was actually like part of the park's land, but it was just next to like a park with picnic tables and pavilions and stuff. And I was like, oh, that's kind of much nicer over there with with the trees and the shade.
00:20:14
Speaker
Yeah. I was flipping through your Instagram stories and i got through like five or six and I still didn't know where you were. I knew that park existed, but I knew absolutely nothing about it.
00:20:28
Speaker
Nothing that's there. So yeah, I really like the only thing that puts it on the map is that Hopkins coaster with the weird loops. And it's just because of the weird loops because they're so like you can tell that they built them and they messed them up and they had to like reprofile them. So there's these weird supports in the middle of the loop.
00:20:43
Speaker
But that's it. Like there's really nothing notable to go there for besides a plus four or a plus three in my case. Yeah. And then like Amarillo just an interesting place. I don't know. I was like, look, Googling, like, what do you what should I do? Because I left the park early before my flight.
00:21:01
Speaker
And I was like, ah what popped up is Cadillacs sunken into the ground that people go and spray paint. Wait, is that what you posted the picture of? Because I was like, what is that? Yes.
00:21:13
Speaker
It's a like a quote unquote public art installation in the middle of like a farmer's field. And you just go out there and there's like a little stand selling spray paint, I guess. But a bunch of people just brought their own for free.
00:21:25
Speaker
And they just walk in there and they just spray paint these old Cadillacs that are s sunken into the ground. That's cool. It's like Stonehenge Cadillac. you You spray paint it. ah like This is what you do for fun in West Texas.
00:21:37
Speaker
You just go and spray paint stuff.
00:21:41
Speaker
Anyway. yes I can't say I would recommend it necessarily. If you happen to be there. she wouldn't recommend Amarillo. Yeah. Like if you're driving through, sure.
00:21:54
Speaker
But a dedicated trip, like, I don't know about that. And i paid too. don't think very many people would do that. I think that's a new thing. I'm going to have to drop it down from my travel list. It was high, but now I got to.
00:22:06
Speaker
ah yeah for the Cadillacs come on Amarillo the Cadillacs and I got barbecue there too hoping that it was going to be like you know really good and it was like fine it's like I could have had this level in in Atlanta honestly oh well all right Tyler where have you been Yeah, so I was up in, well, all right, first of all, I feel like I've had terrible luck at parks this year. I feel like people that don't know me, if they're listening to this, they're like, oh my God, this guy complains about parks so much.
00:22:43
Speaker
But I feel like I've just had such bad luck with stuff being open. i don't know. But anyways. I was in New Jersey for a concert. So on the way home the next day, I figured I'd hit a couple parks. So first one, great adventure, obviously. I needed flash.
00:22:59
Speaker
um Walked in flash closed. No activity, nothing going on over there. Okay, I'll check it out later, whatever. Go to Nitro, go to the back row.
00:23:11
Speaker
It goes down. I'd sit in the seat, and then it they make us get off. It goes down for like 20 minutes. I waited out. We finally get on That was such a mid-ride. i don't know what was going on with Nitro. I normally really like Nitro, but I just got nothing.
00:23:27
Speaker
I know it was one of first rides of the day, but anyways, what'd I do next? Walked over to Jersey Devil, closed, guy walking on the lift hill.
00:23:39
Speaker
Okay, check back on that later, whatever. It's still early. Not really. It's been like an hour, but... Walk past Skull Mountain. Did you guys know if there's no water at Skull Mountain anymore?
00:23:50
Speaker
Like the waterfall? It's just off. Yeah, there's nothing happening. No. It looks so It's like slags and waterfalls. They can't. Yeah. I rode that just because I'm like, well, I might as well get on something.
00:24:03
Speaker
And i don't know. No water. There's still nothing in the building. That's just such a missed opportunity with that ride. Because the ride itself isn't bad. It's got little bit of air on that first drop.
00:24:15
Speaker
But anyways, at this point, I'm like, if Toro is closed, I am immediately leaving this park. Luckily, I get back there and it's running. I got three rides in row 17.
00:24:27
Speaker
If you know, you know, that's the row you got to be in. Yeah, it was like a station wait for it. It was running really well. I really enjoyed it because my last visit, which was two years ago, it was noticeably very rough.
00:24:43
Speaker
And it seems a lot smoother. I really liked those rides. I was kind of worried I was going to have to move it out of my top 25 if it was running like it was. But it was not. um What else?
00:24:55
Speaker
I think at that point, I just walked back, checked on Flash. Still nothing going on. And I left. Dang, not even the new ride. Nope.
00:25:07
Speaker
Come on, Six Flags. Got to go back at some point. Maybe I'll go back for Winterfest. Oh, wait. Just kidding.
00:25:18
Speaker
um So yeah, on my way home, Six Flags America was like a 10-minute detour. So obviously i had to try that out. get in um head straight to Roar. i was gonna try to like cred run everything real quick. It wasn't super crowded. I think most people were in the water park.
00:25:34
Speaker
um So i get in line for Roar. I'm about to get into the station and it goes down for weather. I'm like looking around, I'm like, okay, like, It's kind of dark in the distance, but it looks okay.
00:25:46
Speaker
But, you know, whatever. Start walking around. I figured I'd go back to Batwing, and I would rope drop that. Not really rope drop, but weather drop that.
00:25:57
Speaker
After the weather clears up, I can be first in line. Well, it had never even opened for the day. And I think it's been closed ever since, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, it's been closed for a while. um Yeah, and then that's when I really see the storm start to roll in.
00:26:13
Speaker
So I waited out a little bit longer, see if it looks any better. it does not. It looks way worse. So I head out of the park, riding a grand total of zero things at Six Flags in America.
00:26:24
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Which, not their fault. You can't help the weather. And as I'm pulling out, there's a lightning strike like maybe 200 feet away.
00:26:34
Speaker
and I'm pulling out onto that road, um that main highway in front of the park. And it just starts absolutely pouring. I was going like 20 miles an hour, wipers on full speed.
00:26:48
Speaker
It was ridiculous. One guy behind me like spun out and I saw him hit the curb in my... rear view mirror it was crazy um so it took like an hour to even get out of that i actually checked later on i saw on the news there was flash flooding in the maryland and dc area like there were cars underwater in pictures that i saw so i was not expecting that at all i'm glad i got out of there when i did Um, yeah. Yeah. And then have to pass by King's Dominion on the way home. It was like 830. So I'm like, let me stop in and I can get one ride at least.
00:27:23
Speaker
So I rode Grizzly, got my meal plan and then headed home. So thought you were going to say that it was not open that you were not able to write expecting nothing to be open. And I think it did storm shortly after I left.
00:27:38
Speaker
yeah, I got the one ride and just got my meal. And it was like 8.39 at that point. So I was ready to just get home. So three parks in one day. And I rode one two, three, four things.
00:27:52
Speaker
That's wild. Oh, man. What a time. Yeah. but a time yeah The universe was like, go home, Tyler.
00:28:02
Speaker
And I was like, i don't know if this is going to be my last Six Flags America visit because it's just so uncertain. and't and I don't know if I was going to make it it back up there for Fright Fest or not.
00:28:14
Speaker
So like, let me try to stop in and get some rides. But I left thinking, OK, I mean, I guess I'll come back for a Fright Fest now. And then we found out today, Fright Fest. So I don't know if I'll make it up there before they close. Probably not. But yeah, pretty sad, honestly.
00:28:30
Speaker
um Tell us about the bubbles. Oh, yeah. That was a different was a different day. Yeah, it was different day. There's a new show at King's Dominion. and They're doing this thing where they're sort of just running one show for two or three weeks and then switching it out.
00:28:44
Speaker
And I'm pretty sure they just go to a different Cedar Fair park after that. But... Anyways, they have, don't remember what it's called, gazillion bubbles, I think. But it's this guy, he travels around everywhere, and he's like a, don't know what he calls himself, a bubble expert or something. But um yeah, it's pretty cool. I think it's mostly for kids, but...
00:29:05
Speaker
um He does lots of tricks with bubbles. And then the grand finale is, it's just probably a gazillion bubbles blowing straight at you. Like there's machines on the stage and then there's fans that are blowing them towards you. And literally you cannot see, it's just a gazillion bubbles.
00:29:23
Speaker
And there's music and lasers and um a little background video screen also. So it's pretty cool. I think it's mostly for kids, but. ah The finale was cool, at least.
00:29:35
Speaker
like I can see kids like freaking out over that. Yeah. but Well, I follow the Kings and Minions Connoisseurs Facebook page or whatever it's called, and people will see it at 3 p.m.
00:29:47
Speaker
and then go back and see it at 5 p.m. because they love it so much and their kids love it so much. So it's super popular. The rumor was, though, at one point... was they had to stop the show for a few days because the bubble solution was getting onto the concrete floors and people were just busting ass trying to get out of that theater.
00:30:11
Speaker
but Honestly, um like some temporary carpet and some um some of that like non-skid tape that you can walk on to get out. But yes, I can definitely see that happening. I thought it was pretty Literally.
00:30:24
Speaker
Having worked in theme park entertainment, that is 100% what we do. we just like launch confetti, make a mess with bubble, do all of these things and don't think about the consequences.
00:30:35
Speaker
Yeah. And you probably have no budget to fix it whatsoever. so Yeah, like for a long time, there was an issue at at the um like Celtic Fire Show at Busch Gardens with they had a specific fog solution and they changed it.
00:30:48
Speaker
And the one that they changed it to slick to the floor and the tap dancers started wiping out on the floor. no. Yeah. So, yeah. Yeah.
00:30:59
Speaker
Easy to wipe out and tap shoes. Doesn't take much. Cool. um I have been a couple places. um a couple weeks ago, I stopped in at Dorney. had only been one other time this season, which is pretty wild. I used to go like a lot more frequently, but I guess I've just been busy.
00:31:16
Speaker
We, on a random night on the way home, just decided let's, instead of like walking on the trail, just like walk around Dorney for our workout because it's pretty hilly. So we... stopped there and the goal was just to ride steel force because the other visit that we went to Dorney was with the kids. And so it was doing the things that they could do like Amelia wrote iron menace and thunder Hawk.
00:31:37
Speaker
Um, and it was hilarious. Like Amelia during the iron menace jolt, she like loved the ride so much. And I like told her like, there's a little part at the end where like it kind of jolts and moves.
00:31:49
Speaker
She screamed so dramatically. She's like, wow. During the jolt. I was like, yes. It does feel like that. She's like, that ride is so fun, except for that thing at the end.
00:32:01
Speaker
Like she's learning. Boozy. ah She is. um And so we went in to ride Seal Forest. We walked all the way to the bottom, rode it. And unfortunately, it has gone back to its prior version with the midcourse brakes on. And it's just not that great, which just really hurts me because I grew up loving that ride. And it just doesn't. Last year, it felt a little bit like I remember from my childhood when they Kind of had it go over the lift hill faster and then turn the midcourse breaks down, but it is not great.
00:32:32
Speaker
it was not great when we wrote it. Um, very sad. but they had a special event going on. I believe it still is the Viva La Fiesta. Um, I think some of the other parks are doing a similar like festival, but we didn't partake much in it just because we forgot that it was going on. So it looked like they had some pretty nice, um, like decor up at least in the main kind of, um,
00:32:57
Speaker
like walkway kind of back where like the wild mouse like that main midway. um They had some specialty food and beverage options and there were a bunch of different shows. We were able to catch the end of one of the shows walking out of the park. And I'm always pretty impressed by the Dorney Park um entertainment level. I don't know where the performers are coming from, but they have like singers and dancers just because like I grew up in this area. I'm like, where are these people coming from?
00:33:26
Speaker
But they're always pretty impressive, singing and dancing. um And then they had like people playing instruments in the back. It was really fun. Tom wasn't super into it, but I really enjoy like live entertainment and shows like that. So we stayed and watched a couple of the like last numbers or songs.
00:33:42
Speaker
um But yeah, otherwise, I can't really speak too much to the event. Maybe if I have time to check it out a little bit more from like just the ah event perspective while it's still going on, I'll do that and report back. But this past weekend, I went to Cedar Point um for probably what will be my only Cedar Point day this year. i have managed to go at least once every year for the past, I want to say like four years or so Um, so I guess I'll just like briefly run through the day. We went on

Cedar Point Ride Experiences

00:34:09
Speaker
a Saturday. and it was me and Tom and Scott came with us, our number one fan.
00:34:14
Speaker
And we met up in the morning with Perry. And then later, Allison and Mullet were there. They were coming for the next day, but they, arrived a day early and rode some rides with us okay and harry brought like a deep dish pizza or something sure did we rolled into the parking lot for the entry and perry was already there with his deep dish pizza and like i love you perry and i love your pizza but like i'm not ready for that at nine o'clock i'm just not and how do you not eat it he shows up with the pie and he's holding it out to you i'm like okay i'm gonna do it and then i felt terrible I felt terrible. It was very good.
00:34:53
Speaker
But he told us that the one pie had two pounds of cheese on it. Oh my God. was like, yeah this is about to wreck my life. Okay. so I- It was the worst day ever. Yeah. So I ate it. It was delicious.
00:35:07
Speaker
But like, I couldn't even finish one slice. It was so heavy. And like, I just, I don't even normally eat breakfast. So I was just struggling. But- um It was great. And that was really nice of you. I'm sure you're not listening, Perry, but if you are, thanks so much. um So then we um keep in mind, this is a Saturday. There was some like treacherous thunderstorm looking um weather predictions going on. So we were kind of hopeful that would maybe keep people away. I would say the crowds were not as high as expected. Like there were definitely a lot of people there. It was a Saturday, but I would say like not as crowded as when we were there for stumble last
00:35:44
Speaker
year on the weekend like it was less crowded than that for sure um the listed rides for early entry were millennium force gatekeeper and iron dragon and intermittently they had been running top thrill two during early entry but i don't think it was published but we had kind of seen on thrill data that had been it had been operating during early entry so we made the plan to rope drop the top thrill two lockers which we did And, um, got our free lockers and we ended up getting two rides on it during the first 40 minutes of early entry. We waited about 20 minutes for each ride.
00:36:19
Speaker
um the first ride, they weren't really accepting row requests on the ride the whole day, but we got really lucky and got front row Tom and I, our first ride. um and like i don't know maybe three quarters of the way back like it wasn't back but it was somewhere in the middle of the train a little bit beyond middle um have any of you guys ridden it yet nope no no okay So i really enjoyed it. i really struggle to compare it to the the first iteration because I just love a hydraulic launch. Like there's nothing that feels like that. And that was the highlight of the ride for me. And obviously like the LSMs just don't compare. Like because it's a swing launch, you don't get that like punchy feeling. You do feel like you're going fast, obviously, which like you have to to get over the top path, but it just doesn't.
00:37:14
Speaker
That part, you know, is kind of underwhelming as expected. It's not like I was let down by it. I expected it to feel like that, but it it wasn't obviously as good as the original. But what was much better than the original is how fast you go over the top hat. Like I would have loved to get a back row ride and we tried later, but it went down um to feel the pull over the top hat because the airtime getting into it was insane. And then you're like floating on the entire way down.
00:37:43
Speaker
But I would have loved to feel the the back of the train sensation. So that you go over it a lot faster than you used to. So that was really cool. And then the highlight of the ride for me was just the float on the backwards spike was wild.
00:37:55
Speaker
Like you feel like you're going backwards. You're like, okay, I'm at the top and you just keep going up. Like it's just the wildest thing. And then if you like look to the side, you're like above power tower and you're like, what the heck? It's so freaking tall. Like it that was really cool. I would say,
00:38:12
Speaker
i do probably prefer it just slightly over Top Thrill Dragster just because it offers some of those like extra elements that make it feel a little bit more of a complete ride than like a one trick pony. But i still prefer many of the other rides at Cedar Point over it.
00:38:30
Speaker
But it was really fun and I'm glad we got on it. And then the end of early entry, we started to queue up for Siren's Curse because we knew that that had had pretty long lines. um The queue itself wasn't actually open until 10, but there was like a queue, like a pre-queue outside that was getting pretty long. So we got in that line.
00:38:50
Speaker
um And I'll just talk about all of Siren's Curse now, I think. um I rode it that one time in the morning and then we rode it our last ride of the night in the dark.
00:39:02
Speaker
And i completely fell in love with this ride. Like looking at it, it doesn't look as impressive as i think I expected it to. Like it looks really short, but it's also like situated between Val Raven, Millennium Force and like the spike of Top Thrill 2. So like it's not going to look yeah that big. It looks pretty small actually.
00:39:22
Speaker
And the layout itself like doesn't cover a large amount of area. I mean, if you've seen the POV, you like know what it does, but it, it seems like it's like oh this probably like won't be that intense it's like kind of small um but I really loved it both times we rode we rode in the back which I think I would prefer even like we got lucky to sit in the back one the second time we asked to sit in the back but the sensation on the tilt track in the back is much cooler I think probably because you're like literally raising up as opposed to kind of tilting down because the
00:39:57
Speaker
apparatus that tilts you is like right in the middle of the train. So you like feel like you're hinging up, which is really cool. The theming is so well done. Like you are walking through the queue on what feels like a boardwalk. They have like the dark dyed water underneath. They have beach sounds playing like there's seagulls. And then you hear like every once in a while you hear like the songs of the sirens. Like it is so well done. It feels like you're truly somewhere else when when you're in queue. And then the queue is never like a cattle pen it just kind of weaves around through the ride so it's really pleasant to stand in and it gives you great views of the ride while you're in it um and then the onboard audio plays like a whole thing up the lift hill of like the sirens talking to you and then like
00:40:43
Speaker
when you're tilting they're like prepare and so it's just so well done it really gives off like the spooky vibes that you see with like the siren type theming i was so hyped like i was like co clapping on the lift i was like this is so good and then the ride was really enjoyable too like the drop is gives you a little bit of like nice ejector going down after the tilt or the like tilt track releases you and then The rest of the ride, the inversions are really nice and floaty. Like they're kind of in between what it feels like to do like a roll on an RMC and like the Mosasaurus roll. If you could pick something right in between those sensations is kind of like what i what what I would describe it as. And then there's a bunch of like just little airtime moments that are actually so much stronger than you'd expect.
00:41:35
Speaker
And the whole entire ride is like the smoothest thing ever. Like Vekoma really has their shit together. All of their new rides are so smooth. Like you think of Guardians of the Galaxy, so smooth.
00:41:46
Speaker
You think of Flash even, so smooth. There's like nothing, not a single ounce of a rattle, not a jolt. And all these other manufacturers out there ain't doing it like that. yeah. I really enjoyed it. It was on this, like a lot of newer rides. There's like a part where I'm like, Oh, that's like the G's are too heavy. It gives me a headache or like, Oh, I hit my head. Like literally nothing on this ride can hurt you. It's the most re-ridable thing ever.
00:42:10
Speaker
Maybe not the most intense experience at Cedar point, but very hot take. I think it might be my favorite ride there after my rides this weekend. o Wow. Wow. Yeah.
00:42:21
Speaker
That is a statement. her um I mean, still need the rest of the park since I only have like three coasters under my belt, but I can see that being like up there for me, honestly. It's sneaky good. And like for somebody that like like prefers an experience, like the theming is just, it's so me. Like I love water and I love spooky. So it just like,
00:42:42
Speaker
It is my vibe. i got a t-shirt and everything. Like I just loved it so much. And I thought I was being crazy, but like Tom and Scott agreed with me like that on that day, that was the best ride we had of any of any ride in the park.
00:42:56
Speaker
So that was really great. What else did we do just to run through? We did Maverick once. always enjoy a Maverick, but it's so uncomfortable to me. The restraints always like limit my movement or like hit me in the collarbone. And I say it every time I'm like, if this ride had different restraints, I would love it so much more. It's just like so uncomfortable. yeah.
00:43:17
Speaker
We did Magnum once, which I really enjoyed. I felt like the airtime was really hitting and it felt like it was flying. Like after just recently riding Steel Force, like Magnum felt like it was going too fast for its layout. Like it was really enjoyable. um I know some people don't like that ride, but I always have fun. We sat um second to last row.
00:43:36
Speaker
And then um we rode Steel Vengeance once after being in line and waiting at an extra hour while it was broken. um But we stayed because we were already like right past the lockers. So it's like, I don't feel like getting out and like the exiting is hard and getting the stuff in the locker. It's like we've made it this far. Like we didn't have any like fast lane or anything. We just went full force into the day knowing we would wait. Yeah.
00:44:01
Speaker
I rode in the back row with a stranger because Tom and Scott rode together. So I couldn't flop around as much. I don't want to hit this poor person who had clearly never ridden an RMC in his life because he was unwell.
00:44:15
Speaker
um It was not a good ride. It was so upsetting. And I've had really, really great rides on Steel Vengeance. It literally was my number one coaster after I rode it. was my first RMC, however many years ago that was.
00:44:26
Speaker
And it just, it just does not always hold up. And we only gave it the one ride because the line was so long, but like, it was uncomfortable. Like the positives and the valleys felt like a little shaky and just like, it's not as smooth anymore. as Some of the transitions felt a little bit more jolty and janky, like that cutback. I never really liked that part, but a lot of the ride kind of felt like that. And I was like, oh, this just feels like not as flowing and as grand as it used to, which is what I really liked about it.
00:44:56
Speaker
So that was kind of a bummer. Like the pacing just didn't feel quite right. um So I dropped that quite far into my rankings. It was in my top 10 and now it's in my like 20s. um What else did we do?
00:45:10
Speaker
Oh, we rode Millennium Force toward the end of the day. And that was a really excellent ride. I haven't had that good of a ride on Millennium Force in years. um Every single hill had airtime, which is like wild. Usually it's just that little last one. But some of the ones on like the L-shaped part of the track gave really good air. That was fun. I rode with Allison. Did you notice the like increased speed at the lift?
00:45:32
Speaker
um It definitely felt fast, but I feel like it always has. so like I was looking for it because I knew that it had had happened, but I don't know if I didn't know if I would have noticed. It always felt fast to me.
00:45:43
Speaker
no Yeah. I wonder if that has something to do with the air hitting better though, because it's just cresting faster and, you know, we only, we only wrote it once, but it was, it was really good and it was kind of like at dusk.
00:45:54
Speaker
So it was just nice and pretty. And then the only other thing we rode was Gatekeeper, um which I really enjoy. And rewriting it definitely, um definitely prefer it to Swarm. I don't know, like, what I was thinking, even comparing them. I feel like the near misses through the keyholes are a lot better. And just, like, the layout is a little bit more, like, flowing. So that was fun. always like Gatekeeper.
00:46:16
Speaker
only The only other thing we wanted to ride was Raptor, but it never really got um below, like, an hour weight. We just couldn't. handle waiting that long for invert so that was our day we did pretty pretty well there was definitely like a period of time that was down for weather maybe like an hour and a half um we ate at the pavilion and farmhouse which are always good i had a giant one of those giant pina coladas in a tube ha It was good.
00:46:44
Speaker
That's pretty good for us. Yeah. I felt like we, I left, we left and I felt pretty good about it. And like our goal was to try to ride the two new rides in the morning and in the dark and we would have accomplished it. But, um, top throw two went down when we were in line for our night ride. So apparently it reopened and then closed again, Allison and Mullet told me. So I'm kind of glad we called it after that and just went, went back to the hotel, but it was a good trip overall. And I know you're going soon, Tyler, do you guys plan to go at all

Planning for Halloween Events

00:47:12
Speaker
this year?
00:47:12
Speaker
No, i wish i could, but no not this year I am tentatively planning to go the Thursday before our little October holiday world excursion. Cool. Because I've heard that the Thursdays for the Halloween event are kind of light crowds.
00:47:28
Speaker
Might be easier to, I don't think all of the rides are open. That's what I was going to say. Yeah, hopefully everything's open. All of the major coasters are typically open. So, and all i all I need is top thrill and sirens in terms of credits. And that's really like, would be the focus of going for sure.
00:47:45
Speaker
Yeah, I'm really excited to hear what you think about them, Tyler. We'll talk about that probably next episode. So you'll be fresh off your trip. I'll be there in week and a half or so.
00:47:56
Speaker
that's Nice. Cool. Anything else? Has anybody been anywhere exciting? thank you That's all? Amarillo is not exciting? Jeez.
00:48:10
Speaker
All right. Well, we have ton of HHN news. Obviously, we're only covering Orlando. There's there's been some um Hollywood news as well, but we'll kind of go through everything.
00:48:22
Speaker
We're going to keep this week. we We're really down to the wire here for HHN. We have a month left. We're going to keep this episode kind of just like the news that has come out. And then our following episodes will hopefully be able to be able to cover food and beverage and if there's any more information kind of about the originals that come out and then we'll eventually give you all our hype lists before we attend the event and we will be going early in the season so we'll be able to do some recaps after that.
00:48:51
Speaker
But the first thing that was, or the first things that were announced was they finished up the scare zones.

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) Scare Zones

00:48:57
Speaker
So we got the cat lady of Crooked Lane and the description says, travel down a spooky winding path to a mysterious home where trick-or-treaters are transformed into feral felines.
00:49:07
Speaker
Be careful, be careful or you'll be next. And there's been a lot of posts on social media about some of the set pieces that have been added to this area. This is in Central Park.
00:49:19
Speaker
So last year, that's where Swamp of the Undead was. What do you guys think about this scare zone? I was interested at first. Like it's something different for this particular area of the park that has seemed like the last two years, it seemed kind of similar to me, like swampish vibe.
00:49:39
Speaker
vibe And then the jungle of doom was before that. The jungle, the swamp. Yeah. Kind of similar. So I was excited to hear something different and I got a little bit more excited for it, seeing the construction that's been going on because they've been putting up pumpkins and the decor seems to be expanding beyond the typical footprint of that scare zone, like further out of the trees area, which is also awesome.
00:50:04
Speaker
um And it also has more of classic Halloween vibe to it than I expected from the description. So I'm more excited for it now. i think this, which honestly, it always has been this particular area. of The park is always my favorite scare zone, but I definitely think this has the potential to maintain that status and still be my favorite.
00:50:26
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like that area like thrives when it has that traditional Halloween theme to it. And I feel like we're going to get that from this specific zone, which I'm excited about.
00:50:37
Speaker
i think it looks really good. Definitely. it reminds me of Trick or Treat from a few years ago with yeah how beautiful that was with all the pumpkins. And you can see the pumpkins in the concept art. So I'm really excited for it.
00:50:49
Speaker
I think that's probably my top scare zone. Yeah. What I'm curious about is how they're going to incorporate the scares. Yeah. Like, I think maybe it'll be like the people that are turned into cats.
00:51:01
Speaker
are a lot of the scare actors. But yeah, I agree with everything that you guys said. It looks like from some of the photos, like it'll lead to her house. Like the house is kind of outside of that area. And then maybe like the tree area is kind of the pathway towards her house. um And yeah, they have the pumpkins in the trees. And I know that's like a huge hit. It's been a huge hit in the past and it looks really good. And I agree, like the classic Halloween feel. I feel like a lot of times this event just...
00:51:28
Speaker
relies so much on just the horror aspect and forgets that it's called Halloween Horror Nights and I am here for the Halloween vibes I love the orange in the artwork I love the pumpkins in the trees I love that it's trick-or-treating love they have like they had one picture I saw where there was like a little stump with like some knickknacks on it I'm like yes this screams like grandma's house on Halloween and I love bikes Yeah. I guess the kids in this area are going to be biking. What I really like about this zone is that you have a lot of... They always have these props where the actors can hide into and jump out. And it blends in so perfectly in that area since it's a lot more shaded compared to some of the other scare zone areas or the other areas of the park.
00:52:20
Speaker
um But yeah, I feel like they're definitely going to use stuff like that for this particular theme. I also have to point out that there was the um there was a stained glass cat featured in the zone.
00:52:35
Speaker
And um it seems like they're incorporating that stained glass into all of the zones because I've seen that in some of the other construction. like the We already talked about it, but the masquerade one has these stained glass pieces on the background of these stages that they've been building. And that's kind of cool.
00:52:50
Speaker
That kind of ties into the observatory, it feels like, and the merch. Like it's all coming together. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, they did mention stained glass in a lot of their like descriptions of different things. So I like that how we always talk about how the vent is ah much better when there's cohesiveness throughout like last year, it kind of lacked that but I like that even in just some of the decor and theming, we're seeing that already. So yeah, it's good stuff.
00:53:17
Speaker
Cool. And then the other scare zone, or the last scare zone that was announced, mutations, toxic 20s in 1920s neighborhood. A buzz con truck with radioactive cargo crashes into a mobster getaway car, sending the city into toxic pandemonium.
00:53:29
Speaker
Thoughts? Feelings? Where's this one located? New York. Okay. That feels like the New York scare zone, so that makes sense. Yeah. Yeah, it's the 1920s. A lot of people just walking around. it feel like that.
00:53:42
Speaker
Yeah, I love the 20s. Like, I think that'll be so fun for them to incorporate like 20s costuming and music. It's a little bit like there's a lot going on. Like BuzzCon, BuzzCon was in the Bugs Alive house. That's part of that. And then there's like, you have that and then you have mobsters, which I guess fits in the 20s era. And then you have like this mutant stuff and radio, like, it's just a lot going on but i feel like maybe that's good for that area because there's such a it's such a like a wide scare zone completely different than the the area for the central park one where i feel like you kind of have to have a lot going on for it to be successful or else it kind of falls flat yeah yeah i feel like haven't really seen very much of the set pieces for this yet right like yeah we haven't think so yeah yeah
00:54:30
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like an area like this, you need, like, it relies heavily on the actors, the amount of actors that are in there in comparison to, like, the Central Park area where, I mean, you can, there's so much that you can do just because it's so shaded. It's kind of closed in um But with this one, like, it's going to be, like, a lot of, there's going to be a lot of actors around there, as they always do in that area.
00:54:50
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think it'll be fun. Good vibes. Yeah. Yeah, it's interesting. I really like the concept art with like the lime green. Yeah. Yeah, that's really cool. The theme itself doesn't do a ton for me, but I do appreciate the continuation of the story from the Bugs House.
00:55:07
Speaker
think that's good. Yeah. Yeah, I guess this is like a prequel though, right? Because that Bugs House was like fifty s or? Yeah. Yeah, this like as if this company's been around forever. Yeah.
00:55:18
Speaker
I'm curious if if it's going to be more like party silly 20s or if they're going to try to make it scary. Yeah, it'll be interesting. I feel like it's a little bit like they could take it a lot of different directions.
00:55:31
Speaker
Yeah, I kind of do hope that they play like twenty s big band music. Yes, yes. But like creepy. Yes, that is the vibe I want. Yeah.
00:55:42
Speaker
Cool. So that completes the scare zones. We talked about the other two last time. then um we found out about, I guess, these new street experiences. We don't have a ton of information about them. I think it's interesting that we only have four scare zones, but it makes sense now that we have these two other areas.
00:56:00
Speaker
One is Club Horror, and that's rumored to be back in San Francisco where the Blumhouse scare zone was last year. And it seems to be just maybe like a DJ area. i don't know.
00:56:11
Speaker
Yeah, i have no idea what this is There's got to be characters like interacting there. Yeah. Yeah. You would think so i I worry a little bit that, um and we'll talk about Five Nights, I worry that we're bringing the teeny boppers to HHN and then the teeny boppers are going be bumping and grinding in the streets of Clubhouse. know? Like, this is just what I picture. I'm like, oh boy, this is going be like high school night out over here. Yeah. It could be.
00:56:41
Speaker
Could be. Also, it'll be interesting to see what music they play because obviously like HHN has its like pretty generic like music that they play. So I wonder if this will be like different or more of that.
00:56:55
Speaker
I would imagine it's going to be different. Probably more house, like, you know, little more electronic feeling. That's my guess, but we'll see. yeah I'm curious how big this is going to be because this this whole street experiences thing is interesting and feels like a way to pivot on things that they have been doing but aren't particularly scary, just like the Blumhouse thing where it's just like characters, which is not really a scare zone. So it it feels like a kind of rebrand of interactivity out in the park but it's not intended to be scary per se yeah i'm here for it though like if they want to put more effort into making their four scare zones better and actual scare zones and it it feels like obviously i don't want to like overhype but it feels like they have really good ideas that are all unique from each other and yeah potentially taking up more geographic space than they have in the past
00:57:49
Speaker
So if these like other things are going to help them do that and provide other places for people to hang out, like I'm all for that. And I think the other one, the Mel's Die in Zombies is interesting. like Mel's is iconic. Last year, the shirt like sold out immediately. like yeah People love to take their pictures in front of Mel's. I love it.
00:58:07
Speaker
um So I think this will be really interesting. And I know there was a casting call for like roller skaters. um So I think this is probably where they're going to be utilized at Mel's. Do you think it's going to be confined to like dining there or are they going to take over like all of the streets nearby?
00:58:25
Speaker
i think it's supposed to be like outside of it, but I could be wrong. Yeah. I could see like that whole area up front. Like that's probably where they're all going to be at. Like probably up until like maybe the gift shop of Transformers, like where you exit from maybe up until there.
00:58:41
Speaker
Cause you do have a scare zone directly to the right of it, which is the, um, Was it the Hollywood section of the park? um Yeah, that that would be a little too close, but maybe they would use more of the other area like closer to Transformers.
00:58:54
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like it has to spill out of the restaurant a little bit because they do call it a street experience. If it was just confined to the restaurant, that wouldn't be great name for it. But yeah, i don't know.
00:59:06
Speaker
I'm excited about it. I feel like the the scare zones and just the streets in the park in general have been so dead lately. um In recent years, like not much is going on and the scare zones aren't even like haven't even been that great to, um you know, really make the street experience all that memorable. So I feel like this is a nice little change.
00:59:27
Speaker
We'll see what the club horror thing is and what this whole Mel's die in thing is, but. i'm i'm I'm here for it. I'm excited for it. I just hope Club Horror isn't just a guy in makeup bumping 40. That would just ruin the vibe of the entire park.
00:59:46
Speaker
yeah Just walk through there real fast. yeah yeah I wonder if this is an opportunity for them to like recycle costumes, which I'm not even opposed to. I think it would be kind of fun if they did like throwbacks of like old monsters and they're all just hanging out in this club.
01:00:02
Speaker
That would be pretty fun. well yeah Yeah, that would be cool. So if they they did say that they would share more information soon. So hopefully we'll find out some more details about these experiences closer we get to the event. um They have also released the information about the shows, plural, this year. so um Nightmare Fuel has returned. um Circus of Decay.
01:00:29
Speaker
Thoughts? Why?
01:00:34
Speaker
They just did circus last year. So I'm kind of like, this doesn't even feel like they're trying to make an effort for it to be different, but maybe it will be. I don't know. And it felt like circus should have been the theme when it was Oddfellows year. Yeah. you Yeah.
01:00:47
Speaker
Yeah. this kind of just feels like they couldn't think of a new concept and a new like theme. So they were like, let's just continue it from last year's thing. And throw purple on the logo this time instead of red.
01:00:59
Speaker
yeah It's disappointing to me because I love this show so much and I know I'm going to enjoy it. I enjoy the music every time I enjoy the performers every time and the stunts and the dancing. Like it's just my type of thing that I really enjoy, but I just feel like it's starting to get stale and There's so many things they could come up with. there Universal creative is so impressive to me. I'm just like, ugh.
01:01:19
Speaker
I mean, one thing that I did appreciate last year was that um I noticed, what was last year? The third year that Nightmare Fuel was a thing, right? Because how many have there been? Like four?
01:01:30
Speaker
think so. ah Yeah, there was like, mean I think this might be the fourth one. um I remember last year, I was like thinking like, they've had the same trick as the first like,
01:01:42
Speaker
big trick and big reveal like at the very beginning of the show they did the same one two years in a row and at least last year they kind of switched it up so i'm hoping that they aren't going to do the same thing as last year just do like another two years and then switch it up like keep it different like if you're goingnna keep the theme the same and stick to the the circus theme then fine but at least like kind of change some of the stunts and some of the tricks that you have going on like because it becomes predictable like you kind of know what to expect like there's a lot of the same pyro thing which The pyro is great. The stunts are great. But sometimes it's like for us, you know, avid goers that go year after year, we start to notice that there are way too many similarities from one another, from one, you know, show to the other.
01:02:22
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And they have the same song to start the show the last two or three years also, though. Yes. Welcome to the Black Parade dubstep. I think that's like their thing, though. I think that's going to be their thing. You think they're going to use that all the time?
01:02:36
Speaker
I think so. Yeah. Technically, it's not part. I mean, it's part of the show, but it's like not really. It's like the hype up. I think it's like a team thing. I think it's like a like team member thing where like that's like their hype music so that they can hype up the crowd and then the show begins. And they do get hyped, those team members.
01:02:54
Speaker
They get going. Yeah. So i don't I don't see that part changing. But yeah, like everything else. Like, I mean, the the music that they use like during the show has been pretty great. Like, you know, they're like cool remixes that you haven't heard before. So, I mean, I'm excited for that. I'm always excited for the music and for the pyro. Like, that's my thing. But yeah, I agree. It's I'm always going to enjoy the show. They're not going to put on a bad show. It's just yeah want to see a little bit more variation.
01:03:23
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then the Lagoon show is back. I've never seen it. Yeah. don't think I have either. When was the last time they had it? Probably 30?
01:03:37
Speaker
It was probably right after COVID it maybe. Yeah, I think was 2021. want to say it was 2021 because then the the hurricane came through that damaged the equipment in the lagoon. Yeah.
01:03:50
Speaker
And so then it didn't come back. And then I think... Because that was the year right before we started I started going Yeah. And then i think it just like, I think the lagoon was fixed like by the in time for next year, but they didn't develop a show for it. And so now that it's operational again and they're doing the regular like regular season lagoon show again, i think they were like, okay, we're ready to do this again.
01:04:11
Speaker
Yeah. It's called Honto Phonic, a ghoulish journey. I don't know what it it will be or what it entails. No idea. It's probably going to be like a bunch of lights and fountains.
01:04:23
Speaker
Lights, fountains, IPs showing up in the air. That's basically what it's going to be. Lots of universal monsters. Yeah, universal monsters. We'll see Jason in there. We'll probably see whatever IPs we have this year. I have to imagine they'll use all the IP content.
01:04:36
Speaker
oh for sure yeah just makes sense i think i'm excited i think it'll be a good place for other people to go to lessen the load you know around the scare zones and such and i think it'll be a good place to like maybe sit and chill with some food yeah yeah i'm not sure i think you guys are way more excited for it than i am but if it takes some people away from the lines then i'm happy yeah I'm just interested to see what the times for it will be. Because I feel like when they had a lagoon show for just the normal park hours, didn't they only do it once a night?
01:05:07
Speaker
They, I think like maybe, I think they did like twice. Twice? Okay, I thought it was only once. they would do it earlier yeah in the evening and then they would do it like maybe an hour before closing.
01:05:18
Speaker
But to be fair, I'm sure that is just their hours. Yeah. Like for the regular park season because it's not dark enough to do it. Yeah, I could see them i'm hopeful yeah more than three or four, maybe three shows because obviously it has to be dark.
01:05:31
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I think three is ideal. I'm hoping that's what we get. But we'll see. Yeah, I think three is good. They're making it more and more challenging to accomplish everything in one night because last year when I made our little schedule, it was the hardest part was anticipating when we would see nightmare fuel. And now you got to do that with two show times. It might be pretty slammed in that area if you think about it, because yeah you have.
01:05:55
Speaker
the scare zone in the Hollywood area. You have the Mel's dying situation thing going on. And then you have the, um, that lady the other one. Yeah. That one. And then you have this show.
01:06:06
Speaker
Like they're all there. It's going to be crazy. Yeah. There's a lot going on. Yeah. Yeah. And then it looks like on the website, they have confirmed that the Death Eater experience will be returning and they have listed the rides that will be open.

HHN Ride and House Announcements

01:06:23
Speaker
So like last year, we'll have Revenge of the Mummy. we will have um Escape from Gringotts. We will have Men in Black. And back this year, we will have Transformers the Ride because rip Ride Rocket will be no longer. That's right.
01:06:39
Speaker
I rarely, i don't even think I've ridden a ride during hn honestly. Didn't we try to do Gringotts one year and that just didn't happen? Yeah. Yeah. I do Men in Black sometimes just to, it's always almost almost a walk-on. Yeah. Get in the AC and get out of the crowds a little bit.
01:06:59
Speaker
yeah and Transformers is normally like that too. Has anybody done that? Done what? The Death Eaters? Yeah. So every time that I've gone to the Diagon Alley area, I always miss them.
01:07:10
Speaker
Every year that they've had them, I never see them there. It's right? It's just... It's not. It's like ah it's like a random thing. I see them. It's probably scheduled, just not publicly released.
01:07:21
Speaker
Right, right. But yeah, it's... I've seen, i think I kind of caught the end of it. um There's just some green lighting that they come out with smoke and you know they're waving their wand around and then they get like the kids involved and everything. They'll do like a little duel with the kids.
01:07:38
Speaker
It's cool if you can catch it when you're going by. I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. That makes sense. Yeah. But the lighting is cool with all the green lighting in Diagon Alley. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. And then we got lucky for once with announcements. So as of today, the day of recording, finally, our last one and a half house houses were announced.
01:07:58
Speaker
So first we got um five nights at Freddy's house. It's official. It says, Freddy and the gang are dying to meet you. You wouldn't last one night at Freddy's, let alone five. You're about to be hunted by deadly animatronics. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy as you flee through creepy abandoned hallways.
01:08:20
Speaker
I don't know what their cryptic message was when it just turned out to be a normal house. It was shit. Somebody said something and they weren't supposed to. And now we have to say something, but we're not ready to say the whole thing. Yeah. Yeah.
01:08:34
Speaker
Yeah. And then we also got the suspected WWE w e house. um It is called w WWE, the horrors of Wyatt six. um It's the fight of your life. Enter the eerie arena of the Wyatt Six, where where you'll go through an ominous doorway into a maniacal mind of Uncle Howdy, Rambling Rabbit, Mercy the Buzzard, Abby the Witch, and Huskus the Pig.
01:08:58
Speaker
So we like briefly talked about this when it was like rumored on the spec map, like what the Wyatt Six were and how Bray Wyatt... um or I guess that's not his real name, but and and I'm going to sound real dumb talking about this, but all I know is from Wikipedia.
01:09:13
Speaker
um So people out there, Ricky and friends that watch w WWE show, are you one of them? Show pseudo? I forget which one of you like this. Sorry.
01:09:26
Speaker
Um, listen, help a girl and girlfriends out. We don't know what is going on here. The characters, if you look at pictures of them, look really cool. They look very creepy. I think this could be really interesting, but we don't know what's going on. So tell us, how can we learn? I heard there's a Bray documentary. Is that something we should watch?
01:09:50
Speaker
Um, he apparently used to love going to HHN, which I think is really cool. Um, also shout out to fear and beer. um if you guys haven't seen, they do YouTube videos, um, for HHN homework on all the IPs and they are super helpful. Like, even though I've watched fallout and, um, terrifier, recap of them and what they expect to see in the house is like a really good,
01:10:20
Speaker
like half hour long, a little bit longer for Terrifier, like preview of what to expect. And then also the Jason one was super helpful because I only watched the first movie so far. So shout out to them and anyone listening, you guys should watch too. They're, they're really good um homework sessions, but we'll, we'll put together some homework ideas for, for you guys too. I enjoy doing that.
01:10:41
Speaker
I don't know what's going on with this. Do you guys know anything more? No idea. And that might be why I'm so excited about it. Cause I have no idea what to expect from this. Like there's nothing that I can think of that.
01:10:53
Speaker
I don't know. i can't think of what this house is going to be. See, that's why I'm less excited about it. No, that's why I'm very excited. I want to know the story about it. So hopefully once I learn, I'll be more excited.
01:11:03
Speaker
But right now it's, it's not there. Yeah. I, I, last time we talked about it, it was kind of a question of, is it going to be Wyatt six or the undertaker? Cause there were like different potential. Yeah.
01:11:16
Speaker
Yeah. So now that we actually have confirmation, I guess it's time to dive into this and kind of figure out who they are because they look creepy. I like the. Yeah. The appearance is. like their costuming.
01:11:27
Speaker
yeah And I used to enjoy watching. Yeah, they definitely have lore. It's definitely more recent lore. I used to watch a little bit of wwe WWE, but I'm definitely very far removed from that world. And I think all of us are. So, yes, Ricky, friends, beer and beer. Anybody help us out. Help us get ready for this house.
01:11:43
Speaker
I'm into it. I just need to know more. Yeah, I feel like the reason why I'm kind of like more excited about it is because I go back to thinking of like when they used to have um they had an Alice Cooper house years ago, which I knew nothing about Alice Cooper.
01:11:58
Speaker
And they were like talking about, you know, the whole music theme. I think that was like the earlier days when they didn't really do the music theme all that much.

Anticipation for New HHN Houses

01:12:05
Speaker
We didn't have the weekend house yet. Yeah. But I had no idea what to expect and it ended up being like very good.
01:12:12
Speaker
Like it was a very good house. So I don't know. I feel like with this, the characters look pretty creepy. They look cool. So I don't know. I'm sure they're going to do something very creative with it. Yeah, and I saw today on Twitter, just since it was announced, um Mike Aiello and also Ramon, we've talked about him before. They were both kind of talking this up and they're both wwe WWE fans. And this has kind of been, it looks like in the works for a little while or in the talk and talks for a little while. So I think if it's something that like really means a lot to them to do this house and then also like pay tribute to Bray, like I think it'll be well done. and Yeah, it'll be like a passion project for them.
01:12:52
Speaker
Yeah, so i'm I'm excited to see and learn more.
01:12:57
Speaker
And to cap off our HHN news, there was a UK media event where there have been some recaps done of what was said at the event on Twitter. I took some notes, so a lot of this will be paraphrasing, but um it kind of gave us a little bit more detail on on the eight other houses that were already previously announced.
01:13:17
Speaker
So I thought we could kind of run through what was said there and offer any other extra thoughts. So before they talked about the houses, they said the event will take immersion to the next level this year. And then they had said that socials will be dropping content all week next week and the rest of July. This was like two or three weeks ago. So that was true. We've definitely had announcements kind of coming every couple of days through the month.
01:13:39
Speaker
um And then with regards to Fallout, they said that the house will check boxes for both gamers and show fans. You'll see the vaults, the Bloody Wedding, Radroach, Gulper, T60, and a lot more. Other locations including Wasteland, Philly, Super Duper Mart, and that the Gulper character is giant.
01:14:01
Speaker
Those are kind of the things that we learned about Fallout, which... I think, you know, a lot of those scenes were to be expected if you think of like the highlights from the show. um Yeah, for sure.
01:14:13
Speaker
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what they do with that Gulper thing. Yeah. Is that like an animatronic or like somebody in a costume? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Like a giant puppet? and I don't know.
01:14:24
Speaker
But I'm glad that they're having the wedding. I mean, that scene has to be in it. But I think that was like so chaotic and will be fun to go through. Yeah. yeah Um, for terrifier, they are hyping this so much. They better not be over hyping me.
01:14:39
Speaker
I'm afraid that. This is wild. This is how I felt about insidious and it was a letdown until I got a good run, but they're saying fans are in for an incredible experience. The team worked closely with Damian Leone.
01:14:50
Speaker
on the house, which they say is the bloodiest and goriest house ever that HHN has ever done. And there are more water effects than in any house ever.
01:15:01
Speaker
You'll choose a dry or a wet path when you exit. And it features every single iconic kill that art has created. You'll have tons of blood dumped all over you. This is not going to be the best house of the year. It's not. It's not. They're doing way too much with it. I hope I'm wrong because Insidious last year was incredible and they did hype that up a lot.
01:15:24
Speaker
But I don't know. I think they're just hyping this up. But I feel like they didn't even hype Insidious. Like people did. No. Yeah, it was more of the people. Yeah, they are talking this house up so much. And I really want it to deliver. Like I love Art the Clown. I think it is so funny and campy and so gory. hope it's good.
01:15:44
Speaker
What do you think wet means? Like how wet are we talking? I don't know, we're going to find out. can't have people flipping either. like yeah they can't have people flip. Yeah, I don't know. don't know, but I don't think that's going to happen. Are you going to bring your poncho suit, Joey? No. Your extra poncho suit? I hope I don't need that.
01:16:04
Speaker
We're going to find out from the people that go the first weekend because not going to be there opening weekend. we will know. And obviously I have to the wet pack once. There's got to I'm calibration period on that.
01:16:15
Speaker
you know like The first people that go through are going to be guinea pigs on figuring out, like dialing that in. Totally. And it ain't going to be me. That's for sure. But I will go. I will do it. i will do it. As long as I'm not like walking around wet the rest the night. I'm not trying to get off like a Rapids ride here. yeah wet shoes.
01:16:32
Speaker
No, I got boots with one of my outfits. Can you imagine walking around with like the slosh of a wet boots? No. don't think it'll be that bad. I don't think so either. I think it's just going to be like one path is going to have the same exact kills, just there's no splatter effect or anything like that. No mister or anything like that. and the other side is going to be like that.
01:16:52
Speaker
There's no way they're dumping buckets of... one Yeah, I don't think it's going to Thumbs up, blood dumped all over you. i'm interested in I'm interested to see which house emerges as sort of the number one house because I feel like every year by the end, everybody's like, okay, this is the best one by far. That's the most iconic.
01:17:14
Speaker
Like for me going into it, I'm most excited for Terrifier, but Universal social media team is really hyping up Five Nights. Yeah. That's like on the social media when they, um,
01:17:26
Speaker
sort of like the basic HHN one, it's all Five Nights. So I'm interested to see emerges. think they know their audience too. I think like Terrifier is still pretty niche.
01:17:37
Speaker
Like a lot of people like don't want to see that movie because they're like, they've heard about it and how gory it is. And is Wyatt Six going to bring in a whole new crowd that just doesn't even normally go to HHN?
01:17:49
Speaker
It might. I don't know. I'm interested to see what emerges. Okay, what what kills do you want to see most in this house? I don't even know if we can describe them on here.
01:18:01
Speaker
We can. With our PG podcast. It hasn't been. Oopsie. Minus Kelly's mouth sometimes.
01:18:13
Speaker
and More than one. Yeah. um yeah That's a good question. Listen, I have to keep it in all day, okay? Sometimes it just slips out at the end of the day. It's going to have to be the bedroom scene. The the bedroom scene for sure. Scalper girl. Scalper.
01:18:30
Speaker
yeah Yeah. I was thinking the shower one. Shower one the big one. We got fingers coming off. We got man parts coming at off. Yeah. What they're definitely going to put in there too and the first one, the girl, the friend. Yeah, that's definitely going to be in there.
01:18:49
Speaker
Cut half, baby. That's going to be crazy. Yeah. Yeah, I wonder how much nudity there will be though, because that there's a lot in the movie. I wonder if they'll like hide that or it'll just be so bloody you can't even tell.
01:19:01
Speaker
i feel like it'll be a little bit, probably not complete, but feel like you can have a little nudity. What are some other iconic kills? Oh, how about like at the very end of the third one with like the shoot of hamsters down the throat? Oh my god, that's definitely going to be in there.
01:19:20
Speaker
that's so bad bad so bad you think i'll put in the thing where he's like um after the first one where he's in the body bag and he pops out yeah it's amazing and then kills the corner that's so good yes honestly though like forget the kills i want the scene of him in that little gift shop trying on the sunglasses I want the whole thing. We need the clown cafe.
01:19:46
Speaker
We need the fun house. We need all of it. I've seen the speculation the clown cafe is happening. So yeah. Oh, that that has to be happening. Yeah, thats yeah that has to happen. Well, think it's obvious what we're most excited about.
01:19:59
Speaker
as stay tuned Stay tuned for our hype list. Okay. um Regarding Jason Universe, they said there will be multiple versions of Jason and a gauntlet of Jason's, including the new Jason.
01:20:12
Speaker
The house is described as insidious times 10. You'll visit Camp Crystal Lake, Jason's Kill Shack, and the amazing classic moments from the Jason universe from the team that, this is exciting right here, this is exciting, from the team that created the Insidious House and the Red Curtain Room. Expect Jason around every corner.
01:20:34
Speaker
Okay, they are if they're trying to compare this to Insidious, literally they're talking about it as if it's like Insidious with the amount of scares. I'm excited, but I'm very wary of it.
01:20:45
Speaker
Yeah, same. yeah i TBD. Yeah, this is what IP I'm kind of unsure about. i'm like I'm excited about it because it's a classic. like Jason is an iconic like horror character, but i don't know i don't know I don't know what you can do.
01:21:02
Speaker
like how like I feel like Insidious has so many different Because it was like into the further. You had so many different characters jumping out. It's like this is all Jason. It's all Jason. So I can't see it being like that. Jason, Jason, Jason. Like we go through.
01:21:15
Speaker
Like that doesn't make sense that there'd be that many of him. I don't really know. i'm um i I don't know. I also... Shout out again to Fear Beer. Their video for homework was really helpful on this because i'm like, what does it mean different versions of Jason? Isn't he the same guy in the same hockey mask that I didn't even see in the whole first movie that I watched?
01:21:33
Speaker
But apparently he was in space. Yes. He's had like different armor. He's had all kinds of things go on. so Yeah, there's a space one. It's like Jason X or something like that. Yeah, it's like a whole space themed one. And he throws somebody's face off with liquid nitrogen.
01:21:49
Speaker
Yep. I saw it in the fear and beer video. Thank you. Yeah. and b um yeah So i don't know what to make of that. Obviously it's exciting if they're talking about the creators of Insidious doing it and it being scary, like the curtain room, which I loved, but TBD.
01:22:06
Speaker
Yes. Also, I'm already going to be annoyed 100% the time waiting in that queue. oh Yeah. I'm already going to so they better they better get it together. They better stop letting every single person with a freaking fast pass go in while I sit there on the curb outside in the back for three hours.
01:22:28
Speaker
Anyways, next, they talk about Grave of Flesh. It says, what happens after you die You're being eaten by vicious flesh eaters. You're going to be at your grave site where you'll see and smell the soil being put on top of you like you're being buried alive.
01:22:43
Speaker
The creatures are then tearing all the flesh off your body, stealing your body parts and taking them deeper into the belly of the earth. feel like this is all still kind of vague. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know.
01:22:54
Speaker
I am not into being buried alive. That, to me, scares me that there's going to be, I'm sure they wouldn't do this. Yes! what You already knew. I don't want anything like that to happen.
01:23:07
Speaker
You guys know, i don't like stuff touching me. Especially all the sweaty people walking through that house. I will die. will die. No. Yeah, no.
01:23:19
Speaker
They'll probably not real good in there. Probably. maybe i mean, I would think they always like to put smells in their houses. yeah what What location is this? This is in like the back.
01:23:31
Speaker
corner like where triplets was near there think it's a sound stage oh okay sound stage i don't know why i thought this was one of the tent houses interesting i wonder if the facade is literally going to be not a facade like a cemetery this time then and you like go down that could be yeah i feel like you kind of have to go down if you're going into your grave yeah yeah the thing that's most exciting to me about this house is actually the concept art like the creature on it with like the glowing blue eyes looks really cool So I don't know like what the creatures will look like. but
01:24:03
Speaker
Moving on. Galkin brings folklore beasts and creatures to a Norse community that will be ravaged and ripped apart. A shaman beast is drawing the creatures to the community. One of the bloodiest houses, apparently. Very bloody and visceral.
01:24:17
Speaker
The shaman is collecting the creatures, making them a part of her. She's getting bigger and bigger as you go. And at one point, the prop for her... um is supposed to be like of her head or something is six feet tall and as you go under the six foot tall head you're going into the belly of the beast so interesting this whole house seems like there's a lot going on there's a lot like I wouldn't have expected it to be bloody yeah I would not expect bloody either I was thinking more like the dueling dragons one yeah yeah that's exactly like very white and blue so now I don't even know what to expect yeah
01:24:54
Speaker
Yeah. Very folklore-ish, which is fine. And I like the whole like Norse Viking-ish idea. And I mean, we're assuming this is winter because of the symbols that have always been there, but there's been like no mention of it being winter at all.
01:25:09
Speaker
I mean, the logo looks kind of winter-y. Yeah, the colors definitely do look winter-y. And I think there's some snow in it. You're right. yeah Hopefully it is. Um...
01:25:20
Speaker
El Artista. I don't think I wrote everything down that I read, but I said it features the conservatory, which has the origins of horror. It ties into the overarching theme of the event. It's a beautiful house with not one facade, but three, which is super interesting.
01:25:37
Speaker
And then we talked about this before, which is why I think I didn't write it down, but the creators that did like Blood Moon and um Dead Man's did this house. So,
01:25:47
Speaker
um They're like they from an original standpoint, they've definitely spent the most time like talking up this house within the community like it's going to be really grand and beautiful. So that's exciting.
01:25:58
Speaker
Yeah, I'm excited. Yeah, the set design on this one. Yeah. yeah the ah set design um yeah And then we got more information, probably the most information about dolls. Let's play dead said you'll be shrunk to the size of a doll constantly feel small with everything oversized around you as you enter a doll house and I've seen some pictures of said house as the kind of facade of the tent so that's cool.
01:26:23
Speaker
It gets bloodier as you go through, kind of checks the comedy box as well. It follows a sadistic little girl named Lila who likes to torture and terrify, rip apart her dollies. For the size of her tortured, tormented, and disgusting dollies, the facade is a fashion dollhouse that Lila has defaced. Every attention to detail is made so you constantly feel small.
01:26:42
Speaker
There's a giant electrical plug on the lawn. Everything here is oversized. You'll see Lila peer through the windows of the dollhouse and you're going to meet Lila at another place in the park as well. ah like the HHN bar where they have some characters roaming around. yeah But basically it says the same thing in like every single one of those sentences. We're small. The house props are big. yeah and Yeah. Which is kind of, well, I don't know that we, did we know that it was going to be small scale type thing? I don't know.
01:27:10
Speaker
But we talked about there being like an amalgamated, like torn apart and put back together toys. Yeah. Yeah, we talked about it being like Toy Story. like Yeah. Yeah. And I'm I kind of get a little bit of weird Barbie vibes.
01:27:23
Speaker
it but Yeah. yeah Like fully. Like, yeah, I don't know a girl from the 90s who didn't cut off her Barbie's hair and like color their face. I did. Yeah.
01:27:34
Speaker
So if they say comedy, I kind of could see it going in that direction, too. We love a campy house, though. Oh, yeah. Especially when a house knows it's supposed to be There needs to be one. So if this is it, then I'm down.
01:27:47
Speaker
Yeah. And then the only other thing, hatchet and chains set in an old west cow town, which is being taken over by demons from hell as well. They'll kill people by climbing into their bodies and burn them from the inside out. You'll see a demon coming out of the face of a human.
01:28:01
Speaker
That sounds cool. Yeah, it does. Probably has little more context for what's going on. kind of guess some fire a little unclear burning I don't know burning is scary yeah western town western vibes we love yeah it's easier to like think of what this could be just because we saw that little bit of it in slaughter cinema I feel like the other original houses were like what is this like what are we gonna get out of that but this was a little bit easier since we've seen the theme at least a bit of it yeah yeah
01:28:33
Speaker
Yeah. And then with regard to the zones, they said that there will be more scare actors and more scenics, more places that were affecting all around the park. As soon as you cross through the turnstiles, we're sending you into the conservatory from El Artista. The trust sign will have conservatory gates.
01:28:49
Speaker
um the origins of horror that first scare zone will be a statue gargoyles that come to life and welcome you with a huge wingspan opening trust will not be read this year it will be more like a turquoise blue to fit the overall theming we did i did see on twitter somewhere today ah we haven't this is our first update i think on that zone and there are props that are going much further down the street than they ever have for that not ever have but like recently have for that zone so that's exciting like it's down by uh minions now so hopefully that's an expanded zone it looks like it is it says that the stone statues will be carved by chainsaw sculptors and it will feature the feature images from the five ips which is cool as a way to tie them in right in the front and
01:29:34
Speaker
Um, we're going to have giant crows probably on stilts because that's what they do at Hollywood. And they said that they're, um, a hit in Hollywood. And so they're bringing them to Orlando. So I i think this zone has a lot more potential than we've seen from the entrance zone in the past couple seasons.
01:29:50
Speaker
For sure. hundred percent. And then unsurprisingly, the tribute store is back. The HHN bar is back. And then the hotels on North campus will have photo ops. So just not like the new Epic hotels, but the other ones will. What is the HHN bar? Where is that?
01:30:04
Speaker
The HHN bar, i know that it, I feel like I haven't actually like been to it, but they have characters from some of the IPs and some, I think the originals like wandering around.
01:30:18
Speaker
It's more of like, um, Is it in the park? It is. I think it's, Isn't that the bar like, b how i know the regular bar, right? The one right behind Transformers.
01:30:29
Speaker
Yeah. That one is usually called like the Transformers bar. Right. I think it's at like, Oh, wait, it might be at the, it might be like in the San Francisco area, like where the Megan spot was. Remember, there was like a little, yeah like a little area that you were, you were able to walk into. I've seen the sign that says HHM bar. I've just never it. It's in battery park.
01:30:52
Speaker
I don't know where that is in the park to be honest. either I'm like thinking, what is that? That's my park. i don't know what that is I mean, that's in New York. I would think because the battery is New York. Yeah.
01:31:03
Speaker
But like, I don't normally, well, no. Yeah. I feel like that's normally where they have the food options. Is it the one that's kind of right across from a Jimmy Fallon in that little park area behind the food stands that they have set up there?
01:31:18
Speaker
Could be. Yeah. No clue. Never cared. look into that oh Yeah. know Help us out people that go to the HHM bar. That's it. I think that's all of the news, but certainly I've been thinking about my own hype list.
01:31:33
Speaker
And if you listeners would like to create your hype list, you should head over to our Instagram page and we made a template for you. So you can fill that out and share it with us and we will share it out for the world to see.
01:31:47
Speaker
um We will eventually share ours, but we're gonna wait a little closer to the event. Um, to share that. What else? Questions, I guess.
01:31:58
Speaker
Yeah. We didn't get a ton of questions this week, which is okay. We got two on discord from Hunter. um just quickly checking to make sure there's nothing else. And there is not. um So Hunter asks with the scare zones being more expanded into other areas. Do you think that the flow and design will be better this year than last year?
01:32:21
Speaker
the I guess it depends what he means by flow. i think the flow of the theming will be better. i think the flow of crowds will not be as good with the Lagoon show.
01:32:32
Speaker
I think there's going to be a pretty good bottleneck over in that area. Yeah. Especially with like the added experiences too. Yeah, exactly. I'm wondering if they're going to have to do some kind of like one direction only crowd control type flow or something to yeah handle all of that.
01:32:49
Speaker
feel like they're going to have to. Yeah. now we're talking about the flow of the overall energy. I think it's looking a little, it's looking pretty good. I mean, there's a lot more going on. Yeah, I feel like I'm pretty excited for... There's not, like, anything that I'm like, ugh, I'm not looking forward to that. Like, yeah, there's some houses that I'm more excited about than others, but, like, overall, I think this event sounds really good, and, like, what we've seen on social media, just of, like, the beginnings of set pieces look exciting. Yeah. Agreed. Yeah.
01:33:22
Speaker
And then Hunter also asked, which house would you want to be trapped in for 24 hours? I don't think any of us would choose to be trapped in a house. Yeah. If it doesn't have to be this year, I would say a Quiet Place so I can maybe take a nap.
01:33:37
Speaker
That's fair. I'd probably go with um Ghostbusters from last year. just love the set that house. Nice and cool. Yeah. I see. Yeah. From this year, I'd probably pick the Artista one because I think it's just going to be cool, like fun to explore.
01:33:52
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe Darkest Deal. I really loved the vibes in that house. They're definitely seeing some good rooms to hang out in and that will. Yeah. Music. Yeah. Just chill.
01:34:05
Speaker
Five nights at Freddy's would be pretty on theme if you did stay there overnight. So youre here that would be pretty. ah And then Scott also asked us, how's prediction? Put your top three and bottom three on the record. I think we're going to hold off until we do our hype list officially. Sorry, Scott, but we want to see your hype list.
01:34:23
Speaker
Please let us know what you think. Yes. um Did we get anything on socials? No. no cool that's okay we are far into this episode we've talked a lot I've talked a lot at least what else do you guys have any other thoughts I think today I'm just extremely hyped just getting the last two houses. It feels very complete now. And I feel like I can be very excited for the event.
01:34:51
Speaker
And it is exactly one month from today. is opening night. It's it's but like I was asking, what do we even have left at this point? And it's really just the map. because we still don't have the official map out. Yeah.
01:35:03
Speaker
And we don't have the food and beverage. So I'm excited to see that if there's anything interesting. Which i love to talk about themed food and beverage. Yeah. We'll definitely cover that. And they usually drop that to like all the blogs and like everybody's, you know, covering all of these different food options. So yeah.
01:35:18
Speaker
Yeah, it'll be exciting. I've already started to kind of think about like, what could they have in different like some of the different themed, like house related food booths. So that's fun to kind of think about. But I'm also yeah very curious to hear more information if this is true, because this is just a rumor, but that they're doing stay and scream differently.
01:35:38
Speaker
And what does that mean? Yeah. Yeah. I've heard that too. So we'll find out. Details will come out soon. Yeah. yeah And if they don't come out before the event, they'll come out when it starts and we will know. You'll be freaking out the first day.
01:35:53
Speaker
you'll be freaking out first okay I agree like i I almost felt like you couldn't like make a hype list because we didn't know for sure even though we did know the other houses like it just wasn't official but now like it's official so it's like okay I'm allowed to like I'm allowed to make a hype list and like think about what I'm most excited for yeah yeah they definitely got us with some of the originals like we did not suspect those Yeah, I mean, I think like the horror nightmare is like as it got closer to the release of the houses, like the symbols definitely do make sense now. But it's like when we were trying to guess what they meant, like we were really far off for some of them. Yeah.
01:36:34
Speaker
But I think they're all really unique. Like I i glad it doesn't seem like there's like a classic original slasher. It's like they have the slasher and Jason, so they really don't need and like really terrifier also. So I yeah like the original houses seem to have really unique um storylines. And I really hope like the universal podcasts do the episodes on, on the originals. I keep talking about it with you guys. I'm like, I love listening to those to get context on the house before we go. But yeah,
01:37:03
Speaker
In the past couple of years, they've already been releasing them by this point. So hopefully they're still coming, but we shall see, I guess. Yeah, I'm pumped. Almost there.
01:37:15
Speaker
Almost there. um We anticipate releasing episodes about every two weeks through the beginning of HHN season. So stay tuned for those. If you would like to follow us on social media, we are at thrillschillsandspills.com.
01:37:32
Speaker
and is spelled out on Instagram and on Twitter or X, we are at T underscore C underscore S pod. um Leave us your questions.
01:37:44
Speaker
Hopefully we have so more exciting stuff to share next time, but until then ah spooky. Bye. Bye.
