Podcast Introduction and Host Introductions
00:00:08
Speaker
We're going to play a little game we call Spill the C. Welcome back to Thrills, Chills, and Spills, a podcast for people who love spooky season and are listening in their car on the way to a rollercoaster milestone.
Managing Expectations Around Epic Universe
00:00:31
Speaker
So we're starting as we always do with some spills from the last month, I suppose.
00:00:40
Speaker
And I'm particularly impassioned about this first one.
00:00:44
Speaker
So I guess I'm going first.
00:00:48
Speaker
Stop overhyping Epic Universe, people.
00:00:52
Speaker
It is wild, the internet.
00:00:55
Speaker
Over the last two months, three months, maybe more, even leading up to it, like, it's crazy.
00:01:05
Speaker
fine, like, I'm not trying to gate people's gatekeep people's opinions.
00:01:10
Speaker
And like, I am happy for you if like something that at the park was number one, or is the best thing you've ever seen, or it's the best park in the world.
00:01:21
Speaker
And to be honest with you, this is actually more directed at people who are consuming that content, because you're not going to prevent those opinions.
00:01:28
Speaker
But I just want to caution people like don't
00:01:33
Speaker
Don't fall into the trap of like believing all of that hype, not because it won't be true for you necessarily, but because it won't be true for you.
00:01:41
Speaker
A hundred percent of the case.
00:01:43
Speaker
Um, there are things about the park, you know, that you may like more than others.
00:01:48
Speaker
And so not everything is going to be number one there.
00:01:53
Speaker
Um, and if you go in thinking that, then you're not going to have a good time because the only thing you can do like with number one expectations is
00:02:02
Speaker
is for everything to be meets expectations.
00:02:06
Speaker
That's the best you can do.
00:02:07
Speaker
Whereas if you're a little bit more reasonable with your expectations, they can be exceeded, which is better.
00:02:15
Speaker
Like, I don't know, maybe that's just me.
00:02:16
Speaker
But I always try to go into things like with a dose of skepticism, like don't believe early reviews, like don't, you know, over read into to things that you're seeing online, especially from all the people that have gone so far.
00:02:30
Speaker
And I'm one of those people.
00:02:31
Speaker
So I can like read on this.
00:02:33
Speaker
You know, we got to go for free like.
00:02:36
Speaker
for team member previews and and the people who are have gone for the media days and stuff are obviously incentivized to say positive things so i put this out there on the internet on twitter and like it got a lot of traction so i hope that maybe like some people were kind of hearing that and like adjusting their expectations a little bit down and some people were interpreting me saying this as like
00:03:00
Speaker
oh, like the park's terrible.
00:03:01
Speaker
And that's not at all what I'm saying.
00:03:03
Speaker
I'm saying just like, make sure you don't go into it.
00:03:06
Speaker
Like everything's going to be perfect.
00:03:08
Speaker
Number one, because like what else, where can you go from there?
00:03:11
Speaker
I feel like that does your day and the park a disservice because you're going in like with the most sky high expectations ever.
00:03:19
Speaker
And that's just, it's really hard to live up to that.
00:03:22
Speaker
I feel like you should just temper your expectations a little bit and go in thinking I'm gonna have a good day.
00:03:29
Speaker
Don't think, oh my God, everything's going to be number one in the world.
00:03:32
Speaker
Anyway, we will be talking more about Epic Universe in a future episode.
00:03:36
Speaker
We're going to talk about that later, but I had to get off that my chest because it's driving me crazy.
Excitement and Skepticism for Stardust Racers
00:03:43
Speaker
On that note, on that note, three years, it's been three years since I've had a new number one coaster and now I do.
00:03:57
Speaker
Yellow side of Stardust Racers is my number one.
00:04:01
Speaker
Well, Joey told me not to believe.
00:04:05
Speaker
Okay, but listen, let me defend myself a little bit without giving anything away because I want you guys to experience stuff.
00:04:12
Speaker
I agree with a lot of what Joey was saying about the park.
00:04:15
Speaker
there are signs everywhere that say still that the park is in technical rehearsals during pass holder previews.
00:04:21
Speaker
So like, obviously there are going to be delays and rides.
00:04:24
Speaker
Some rides weren't, aren't going to be open.
00:04:26
Speaker
Like there were rides that weren't open most of the day when I was there.
00:04:29
Speaker
So I just think like that aside from it being a new park and, and like what people are saying on the internet, like obviously they're still trying to figure things out.
00:04:39
Speaker
They're definitely like doing things different every day.
00:04:43
Speaker
you know, follow the advice of exactly what happened during team member previews.
00:04:46
Speaker
It's not going to work because now they have early entry and early entry works different every day.
00:04:51
Speaker
And I think it's good to just kind of,
00:04:55
Speaker
use what people say with a grain of salt, myself included.
00:05:00
Speaker
And I think it's important that you just are aware of like what you can be aware of before you go in if you want to maximize your day.
00:05:07
Speaker
But at least for passholder previews, there seems to be a capacity limit, which is really like keeping the wait times pretty
00:05:15
Speaker
And I think like my own experience and other people who have gone, you know, before or right after me, they've been able to accomplish a lot of the attractions and, and even more restaurant shows and stuff in a day.
00:05:26
Speaker
So I think like, you guys will have a great time, you'll get to get whatever done that you want to or prioritize getting done.
00:05:33
Speaker
About Stardust Racers, though.
00:05:38
Speaker
I think what I'll say is like, I went in there.
00:05:43
Speaker
I love mock like a lot of mocks like newer coasters are in my ranked pretty high for me.
00:05:49
Speaker
I did not go in with the highest expectations, which helped me and that was because Joey was kind of like you you gave you said it was very good, like almost comparable to lost coaster, maybe not quite.
00:06:01
Speaker
And for me, lost coaster is very high in my ranking.
00:06:04
Speaker
So I was like, okay, it's going to be good.
00:06:06
Speaker
Um, and then some other people, like I was trying to kind of stay off the internet.
00:06:09
Speaker
I really wanted to go into as much of the park blind as I could.
00:06:12
Speaker
I didn't watch any POVs.
00:06:14
Speaker
I didn't watch anything about the rides.
00:06:15
Speaker
I just kind of knew like where the rides were located.
00:06:17
Speaker
So I like knew where to go and stuff, um, which was a great way to experience the park.
00:06:22
Speaker
But what really helped me is we walked around and did like half of our park day with Matt, um, from Coasters and Brews.
00:06:31
Speaker
was there the day before in the evening and was like really under hyping.
00:06:36
Speaker
He's like, oh, Stardust is probably like around 30 for me.
00:06:39
Speaker
And I was like, oh, okay.
00:06:40
Speaker
It's like going to be good, but not like great.
00:06:43
Speaker
And he even agrees our ride that we got together.
00:06:45
Speaker
He's like, whoa, what happened?
00:06:46
Speaker
Like he was hooting and hollering.
00:06:48
Speaker
We all were, I was giggling.
00:06:50
Speaker
I can't remember a time that I got off a coaster aside from ride to happiness with like that level of giddy.
00:06:57
Speaker
Like it was just so much fun.
00:06:59
Speaker
It is just like pure airtime.
00:07:02
Speaker
I think people that like intensity and variety and like
00:07:07
Speaker
different elements might not rank it as high, but it's just like my kind of ride.
00:07:11
Speaker
You can rewrite it.
00:07:12
Speaker
It doesn't give me a headache.
00:07:15
Speaker
I know that's like a thing for mock that people worry about.
00:07:19
Speaker
And like Voltron, for example, very rattly.
00:07:22
Speaker
I rode that just a couple of months ago.
00:07:23
Speaker
This had zero rattle.
00:07:25
Speaker
And I sat in numerous places on both, both colors, both sides.
00:07:31
Speaker
I got six rides and I wasn't going to say where I ranked it, but when I got home,
00:07:37
Speaker
it's literally all i've been thinking about is when i can go back there and ride it and um yeah it's just my new favorite and that's in june girl yeah in june that's so far away so far away right
Respecting Ride Preferences and Opinions
00:07:53
Speaker
Anyways, let people live.
00:07:55
Speaker
If they like something, let them like it.
00:07:59
Speaker
I'm not invalidating Kelly's opinion at all.
00:08:02
Speaker
Just don't believe all the massive hype.
00:08:05
Speaker
And I will say, without, you know, I don't want to spoil anything, I was underwhelmed by pretty much everything else.
00:08:18
Speaker
I can't wait to hear the rest of that.
00:08:21
Speaker
Do you think you were underwhelmed because your expectations were too high or do you think the rides just aren't that great without spoilers?
00:08:28
Speaker
I mean, I can, I can appreciate the advancement in technology and like the, the ride systems and how the rides work.
00:08:36
Speaker
I'm talking mostly about the two dark rides, the two big dark rides.
00:08:41
Speaker
I can appreciate them.
00:08:42
Speaker
I like the theming a lot.
00:08:44
Speaker
I just feel like maybe I was expecting like a little bit more like thrill to them.
00:08:50
Speaker
I don't think I had high expectations for anything, to be honest, for the park.
00:08:54
Speaker
Like, I truly feel like, I mean, I was excited to see the park and the different, like, portals and worlds.
00:09:00
Speaker
But as far as the rides were concerned, I didn't really know anything about them.
00:09:03
Speaker
So I don't think I really had.
00:09:04
Speaker
And I stayed, like, off Twitter.
00:09:07
Speaker
You know, the only thing I really ever saw was Wallenballing because I follow him.
00:09:10
Speaker
Just, like, touting shit all the time.
00:09:12
Speaker
And if anything, sorry, I curse.
00:09:14
Speaker
I don't know if we curse on this podcast.
00:09:16
Speaker
I curse a lot in real life.
00:09:23
Speaker
We had Meg on, so.
00:09:25
Speaker
Oh yeah, that's true.
00:09:26
Speaker
Sorry, that was a mild, that was a mild word.
00:09:30
Speaker
What was I talking about?
00:09:35
Speaker
Yeah, so like he actually probably tempered my expectations because I'm like, this fool is on here spouting everything good he can come up with.
00:09:42
Speaker
I love you, Walmon.
00:09:45
Speaker
I love your Twitter.
00:09:46
Speaker
I love everything that you do.
00:09:47
Speaker
I love your passion, but.
00:09:49
Speaker
I don't think he contributed to my level of hype really.
00:09:53
Speaker
I think he's just fun to kind of watch on the internet and I'm happy he's having a good time.
00:09:57
Speaker
It was the opposite for me.
00:09:58
Speaker
I was like, damn, this is too much.
00:10:00
Speaker
And it's so much that now I'm under hyped.
00:10:03
Speaker
I don't think I think my level of hype was appropriate for a brand new park that was still in technical rehearsals.
00:10:09
Speaker
And I hope that I like some of the things, the other things more when I experience them a second time.
00:10:15
Speaker
I'm sure like being with my kids will help too.
00:10:17
Speaker
So yeah, my experiences with the second visit was way better.
00:10:22
Speaker
Just cause you're like, once you're familiar with it, you can kind of enjoy it for what you know it to be and then find new discoveries.
00:10:29
Speaker
You know what I mean?
00:10:31
Speaker
Cause there's so much excited to do like what we want to do.
00:10:34
Speaker
Like I was very stressed the whole day.
00:10:36
Speaker
Mostly because like I knew I had to leave partway through the day to get to the airport.
00:10:40
Speaker
So like the entire day I'm like, Oh my gosh, like, are we on track to like do everything we want to do?
00:10:45
Speaker
And there was stuff we didn't get to do, but like, I knew that that was going to be the case.
00:10:48
Speaker
It was my only day I was able to go.
00:10:50
Speaker
But definitely it was in the back of my head all day of like, oh my God, what time do I have to leave?
00:10:54
Speaker
Like what time do I have to leave?
00:10:57
Speaker
I'm so excited for you guys to go and I can't wait till we can talk about it in more detail.
Podcast Evolution and Host Experiences
00:11:04
Speaker
And as for my spill, staying with the Florida theme, Bush Gardens Tampa announced yesterday that Kumba isn't dead.
00:11:15
Speaker
It's here to stay and it should be reopening in the summer.
00:11:18
Speaker
I don't have too much to say about it.
00:11:19
Speaker
It has been closed for how many months now?
00:11:22
Speaker
Like quite a while.
00:11:24
Speaker
A couple months now.
00:11:26
Speaker
So it's been some time, but according to BGT, it's reopening in the summer.
00:11:30
Speaker
What happened to the sinkhole?
00:11:33
Speaker
That's what I'm wondering.
00:11:35
Speaker
I don't know what to think about that.
00:11:36
Speaker
That sinkholes are terrifying.
00:11:38
Speaker
We should ask the Dippin' Dots man, obviously.
00:11:43
Speaker
I have a very unpopular opinion.
00:11:48
Speaker
I don't care about Kumba.
00:11:55
Speaker
If I bang my head once on a ride, boom, bottom of my red gear.
00:12:01
Speaker
I will say I appreciate it very much for the ZRG roll.
00:12:03
Speaker
It's like one of the best B&M ZRG rolls out there.
00:12:06
Speaker
And the layout is like more snappy than some of their modern stuff.
00:12:10
Speaker
And I appreciate that.
00:12:11
Speaker
That being said, I would be sad if they removed it and did nothing.
00:12:15
Speaker
I wouldn't be that sad if they took it out and put in like a modern Vekoma looper.
00:12:20
Speaker
It's dead back there the majority of the time.
00:12:23
Speaker
So it would make sense.
00:12:24
Speaker
I mean, I would miss it.
00:12:25
Speaker
I did enjoy it, but I would have been happy with the replacement as well.
00:12:31
Speaker
That's probably, I mean, it is an old ride at this point.
00:12:34
Speaker
And when you think about what happened to like Hulk, you would think at some point that's going to happen to Kumba.
00:12:40
Speaker
It's either we got to replace all this track or she dead.
00:12:46
Speaker
It's only a matter of time.
00:12:47
Speaker
Especially because it's in that Florida weather and it's running.
00:12:51
Speaker
So it's getting that extra wear and tear.
00:12:55
Speaker
And I mean, it used to run with three trains all the time.
00:12:57
Speaker
And now it feels like it's like one or two for most of the time.
00:13:01
Speaker
It's been one for like the last couple of years, I think.
00:13:05
Speaker
I think so on the weekends, but yeah, every time I've been, it's been one.
00:13:10
Speaker
If it's a lot of times they only need to run it on one because there's nobody back.
00:13:15
Speaker
So, but yeah, I feel like after Scorpion, maybe they wanted to kind of keep that alive a little bit longer.
00:13:22
Speaker
And I don't really know if they have a plan for Scorpion, like,
00:13:26
Speaker
It's still there, right?
00:13:27
Speaker
Isn't it still standing?
00:13:29
Speaker
Nothing's gone down with that.
00:13:30
Speaker
And that's kind of lame.
00:13:40
Speaker
So as a podcast, we decided that...
00:13:45
Speaker
The beginning of our podcast was interesting because we were kind of a bit of a spinoff situation.
00:13:50
Speaker
And our first episodes are not even on our podcast stream.
00:13:54
Speaker
You have to kind of go dig for them.
00:13:55
Speaker
Yeah, we need to fix that.
00:13:57
Speaker
We probably should.
00:13:58
Speaker
We should port them over.
00:13:59
Speaker
That would be nice.
00:14:02
Speaker
But now we have our own artwork.
00:14:04
Speaker
And now we have an intro.
00:14:07
Speaker
like sound effect thing.
00:14:09
Speaker
So we're out here and we have our socials.
00:14:12
Speaker
So we thought it would be good to kind of reintroduce ourselves since I'm sure the four of you listening probably all know who we are, but just in case somebody shows up from out there in the world, you can find out who we are.
00:14:36
Speaker
We figured we'd kind of reintroduce ourselves.
00:14:39
Speaker
So a while ago, I think it was our first episode.
00:14:42
Speaker
Yeah, we talked about how we got into like because we were talking about like Halloween events in particular, we talked about like how we got into spooky season and those types of events.
00:14:53
Speaker
But we figured we'd broaden that out a little bit and talk about why we got into theme parks and roller coasters.
00:15:01
Speaker
And we're going to do one person each week.
00:15:04
Speaker
This week is Tyler's turn.
00:15:09
Speaker
So that's the question.
00:15:11
Speaker
When and why did you become a theme park and roller coaster enthusiast?
00:15:15
Speaker
Yeah, so I think it is similar to my answer for when I started liking spooky things.
00:15:21
Speaker
So I grew up about 10 minutes from Busch Gardens Williamsburg, went there all the time, had season passes.
00:15:28
Speaker
That was just kind of the thing to do, you know, in high school.
00:15:31
Speaker
get your parents to drop you off and hang off and hang out there in the summer and, you know, doing Hello Scream and all that.
00:15:37
Speaker
So, um, Big Bad Wolf was my very first big coaster.
00:15:41
Speaker
Um, technically it was Wild Mouse when I was younger before that.
00:15:45
Speaker
Got moved to Tampa, which it is now scrapped.
00:15:48
Speaker
So it's kind of sad, but, um, Big Bad, Big Bad Wolf is what stands out as my first big boy coaster.
00:15:56
Speaker
Um, also just, um,
00:15:58
Speaker
the early days of the internet.
00:16:00
Speaker
I think it was called just like roller coaster gallery.
00:16:03
Speaker
So it was such a rudimentary website.
00:16:06
Speaker
You just go on and click the park, click the roller coaster and it'd have like 10 photos of the coaster.
00:16:12
Speaker
And I would just go through every park.
00:16:14
Speaker
And it was so cool as somebody who didn't really travel much as a kid or, you know, not,
00:16:20
Speaker
off of the East Coast at least to see all these parks in these faraway states that I never thought I would get to that now I've been to almost all of them.
00:16:29
Speaker
So that's pretty cool.
00:16:29
Speaker
But yeah, that's where my enthusiasm started.
00:16:34
Speaker
Do you think like right away after you rode Big Bad Wolf, you were kind of like, yeah, I'm interested in this or you were already interested before just from being at Busch Gardens a lot?
00:16:45
Speaker
Because a lot of people go to theme parks, like they have a local theme park, but they don't really
00:16:48
Speaker
care about other ones you know what I mean yeah I think I was interested I was scared for a while I didn't ride Big Bad Wolf until I was probably 12 when I could have ridden it probably at 7 or 8 so I think just growing up and watching the older kids and watching my parents ride the coasters it was this just sort of
00:17:10
Speaker
it was just like mystical, you know, watching all these things, but being too scared to ride them.
00:17:16
Speaker
And then finally getting on Big Bad Wolf, that sort of opened my eyes.
00:17:20
Speaker
I think I rode everything at the park by the end of that season.
00:17:24
Speaker
So that's definitely where it started for me.
00:17:30
Speaker
Maybe not nowadays, but back then, Busch Gardens set a pretty high bar for theme parks.
00:17:36
Speaker
Because if you go to a six-fogs after that, you're like, hold on.
00:17:42
Speaker
Let's hold this pavement.
00:17:45
Speaker
Where are the trees?
00:17:46
Speaker
Where are the trees and the water?
00:17:51
Speaker
So the next bit we're just going to do is a lightning round.
00:17:54
Speaker
We're going to try to just ask a bunch of questions quickly.
00:17:57
Speaker
Some of them are about roller coasters and theme parks and some of them are just random nonsense.
00:18:06
Speaker
Tyler's cred count.
00:18:13
Speaker
Favorite theme park?
00:18:17
Speaker
And the next park visit that you have planned?
00:18:20
Speaker
I think it's Universal in like two weeks.
00:18:25
Speaker
Wood or steel coasters?
00:18:28
Speaker
I'm going to go steel, but honorable mention to hybrid.
00:18:33
Speaker
Yeah, that's kind of its own category.
00:18:36
Speaker
Okay, so this is a fun one.
00:18:37
Speaker
So if you have to pick one of these two options, you can only ride roller coasters that were built in the year 2000 or earlier.
00:18:47
Speaker
So think about what that might be.
00:18:49
Speaker
Or you always skip over a spooky season every year and miss the fall and all of the Halloween fun.
00:18:56
Speaker
Which of those would you choose?
00:18:57
Speaker
Yeah, that's a hard one.
00:19:00
Speaker
This is a demonic question that I came up with.
00:19:06
Speaker
I can't skip spooky season.
00:19:08
Speaker
I'm happy to go to a haunt event and not ride a single roller coaster.
00:19:16
Speaker
Yeah, that's fair.
00:19:18
Speaker
You'll just be stuck with a bunch of arrows and...
00:19:22
Speaker
The very first B&Ms.
00:19:24
Speaker
You still get Afterburn.
00:19:25
Speaker
I did look that up, which is something.
00:19:27
Speaker
A couple Intimans.
00:19:29
Speaker
Tyler loves B&M and Burt so much.
00:19:33
Speaker
We haven't gotten to that one yet, Kelly.
00:19:35
Speaker
Hey, you don't know what I'm going to say.
00:19:41
Speaker
So number one hobby outside of coasters.
00:19:44
Speaker
Number one, I'd probably say national parks.
00:19:47
Speaker
I've been to 24 national parks now.
00:19:52
Speaker
National parks and hiking.
00:19:55
Speaker
Could be alcoholic or not.
00:19:58
Speaker
Honestly, just like a Powerade Zero.
00:20:04
Speaker
Best pizza topping.
00:20:11
Speaker
Your bucket list travel destination.
00:20:14
Speaker
That doesn't have to be theme park related.
00:20:17
Speaker
I'm going to say Tanzania, actually.
00:20:20
Speaker
Oh, wait, tell, say more.
00:20:23
Speaker
So that's where Mount Kilimanjaro is, which I really want to hike that.
00:20:28
Speaker
And they also have like African safaris and that sort of thing.
00:20:31
Speaker
So that sounds fascinating.
00:20:34
Speaker
I've never heard somebody say that before, but that's a cool answer.
00:20:37
Speaker
I thought about it about 20 minutes ago.
00:20:43
Speaker
This one, I don't know if you're going to even have an answer for, but karaoke song, your go-to karaoke.
00:20:49
Speaker
I'm going to steal somebody else's here probably and say I want it that way.
00:20:57
Speaker
And your roller coaster hot take or theme park hot take.
00:21:02
Speaker
I think you guys know what I'm going to say.
00:21:05
Speaker
All inverts are mid.
00:21:11
Speaker
Oh, not even B&M now.
00:21:12
Speaker
It's just all inverts.
00:21:14
Speaker
It was always all inverts.
00:21:16
Speaker
okay i didn't realize sorry sorry except for volcano volcano is a special day now i'm trying to think of non-bnm inverts that like could be on his list of not being actually no maybe there are a few that aren't mid volcano is not mid um what about the vakoma suspended yeah like what dragonflyer dragonflyer is pretty mid
00:21:43
Speaker
We'll find out at Emerald Park if it's mid.
00:21:45
Speaker
The one at Tripp's Drill, it's still mid, but it's on the top.
00:21:52
Speaker
I'm not mad at that.
00:21:54
Speaker
Although the one at Emerald Park does look better.
00:21:56
Speaker
What's the one at Toos and Freed?
00:21:59
Speaker
Oh, Dragon Storm the Dragon.
00:22:04
Speaker
That one is actually really good.
00:22:09
Speaker
All inverts are mid except for like three.
00:22:12
Speaker
And none of them are definitely the B and M's.
00:22:15
Speaker
So the majority are mid.
00:22:19
Speaker
Uh, and then your, the last thing for you is plug your socials.
00:22:24
Speaker
Cause we know that you have one now, a new one.
00:22:26
Speaker
I made it maybe a few months ago, months ago.
00:22:29
Speaker
It's a park pursuer on Instagram.
00:22:31
Speaker
Um, I'm doing just sort of a mix between theme parks and national parks and a few other parks to just all things travel related.
Buzz Bars Event and Coaster Discussions
00:22:44
Speaker
And that's Tyler, everybody.
00:22:45
Speaker
That's everything you need to know ever.
00:22:47
Speaker
Don't need to know anything else.
00:22:48
Speaker
Fully, fully covered it all.
00:22:53
Speaker
So next we're kind of going into our trip report section.
00:22:58
Speaker
We all, wait, all?
00:23:01
Speaker
Yeah, I was going to say.
00:23:03
Speaker
We're all going to miss this one.
00:23:05
Speaker
Most of us were at a Buzz Bars event in Northern California.
00:23:10
Speaker
We went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, California's Great America, rest in peace eventually, and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
00:23:20
Speaker
I guess maybe we just start with kind of the parks in general, because we did do a spooky season, even though it's out of season experience while we were there.
00:23:28
Speaker
But we can kind of cover some of our thoughts about those parks.
00:23:33
Speaker
What do you think, Kelly?
00:23:38
Speaker
Talking about expectations, I think my expectations were in the trash can and maybe because I live with someone who made them that way.
00:23:47
Speaker
But I really enjoyed all of the parks.
00:23:49
Speaker
I thought Discovery Kingdom was pretty.
00:23:52
Speaker
The setting like on the back end of the park, like against the water.
00:23:55
Speaker
I didn't know it was going to have that kind of vibe.
00:23:59
Speaker
CGA was really cute.
00:24:00
Speaker
It gave like you could tell it was like Paramount vibes.
00:24:08
Speaker
was surprised at how like nice of a day.
00:24:10
Speaker
I mean, the weather helped too.
00:24:11
Speaker
We had great weather while we were there, but the star of the show for me was the boardwalk.
00:24:19
Speaker
I love boardwalks.
00:24:21
Speaker
It was a little bit crowded.
00:24:23
Speaker
If we're, I don't know how much detail we're going to go in about these parks, but I was not feeling the crowds when we first got there.
00:24:30
Speaker
I was a little overwhelmed, but that kind of,
00:24:33
Speaker
eased up a little bit and I wish that we could have spent more time there.
00:24:39
Speaker
I think if we're going to talk about rides for me, highlight at Discovery Kingdom was Joker, obviously.
00:24:48
Speaker
I think that's like
00:24:50
Speaker
I would even call that probably a middle tier RMC for me over a lot of others.
00:24:56
Speaker
Like the last time I wrote it was I think in 22.
00:25:00
Speaker
And I remember thinking, oh, yeah, that's not as good.
00:25:03
Speaker
And I wrote it this time in the back row.
00:25:04
Speaker
And I was like, wait a minute.
00:25:06
Speaker
It has a really good variety of elements and forces compared to a lot of other airtime things.
00:25:14
Speaker
And I appreciate that.
00:25:15
Speaker
It's like a small Wildcats revenge.
00:25:17
Speaker
Yeah, in some ways it is.
00:25:18
Speaker
Yeah, like there is airtime and it kind of drops out from under you.
00:25:22
Speaker
Like it was stronger than I remembered for sure.
00:25:24
Speaker
But you also get the variety of some other forces in the layout.
00:25:31
Speaker
Surprisingly liked Medusa.
00:25:36
Speaker
I thought that some of the elements on there were really floaty and fun.
00:25:43
Speaker
I liked nothing else there.
00:25:47
Speaker
Tyler was Medusa mid.
00:25:49
Speaker
No, Medusa was pretty good, actually.
00:25:54
Speaker
Because you sit above the track.
00:25:59
Speaker
You know what is an invert, though?
00:26:05
Speaker
Me and Bethany both had a milestone on Kong.
00:26:09
Speaker
Which is like a 50?
00:26:13
Speaker
250, I think was hers, and 650 for me.
00:26:17
Speaker
And honestly, I love an SLC because it makes me laugh.
00:26:22
Speaker
It really wasn't that bad.
00:26:24
Speaker
So my trick on SLCs is slam your head all the way to the right and just keep it there the entire ride.
00:26:32
Speaker
You won't bang your head at all.
00:26:33
Speaker
Yeah, but it's nice not to have to do that on like Great Nor'easter and the ones that don't have.
00:26:37
Speaker
That one is so fun.
00:26:41
Speaker
Have you ever been to these parks, Rafa?
00:26:42
Speaker
Is this all like new to you?
00:26:44
Speaker
No, this is all new to me.
00:26:46
Speaker
Yeah, I've never heard some ideas now.
00:26:47
Speaker
Now we're overhyping.
00:26:50
Speaker
no that's it about discovery kingdom there's nothing else yeah the ride lineup is not great but the park itself is actually kind of nice like well actually i'll say the ride like the areas that the coasters are in is not as nice like not as pretty although the medusa area is kind of like has some vibes to it has some trees and stuff but the air like the back of the park where the animals are and stuff it's nice
00:27:12
Speaker
Even like the entrance plaza is like freshly painted, bright colors, well taken care of.
00:27:17
Speaker
Like it was, it was much prettier than I thought it would be.
00:27:20
Speaker
It's not falling apart by any means.
00:27:23
Speaker
I definitely liked the interaction with Joker to the main gate.
00:27:29
Speaker
The, the biggest interaction wasn't open.
00:27:33
Speaker
Cause flash goes right over the entrance.
00:27:37
Speaker
And we'll probably never be open again.
00:27:40
Speaker
I've probably never read it.
00:27:41
Speaker
Given how it's the death knell of cedar flags going through and chop chop to everything.
00:27:47
Speaker
I didn't even see the train.
00:27:50
Speaker
I need to clarify my take, though, real quick, because when Kelly said Kong, it made me think of it.
00:27:55
Speaker
So I say all inverts are mid.
00:27:57
Speaker
I mean, the best they can ever be is mid.
00:27:59
Speaker
They can be much lower than mid.
00:28:04
Speaker
This hot take keeps changing.
00:28:08
Speaker
Now it's all inverts are mid at best except for three.
00:28:14
Speaker
Yeah, that's something too long to put on a t-shirt, I think.
00:28:21
Speaker
What else happened?
00:28:23
Speaker
Yeah, my favorite vibe.
00:28:26
Speaker
And actually, I mean, we did we did a survey as part of Buzz Bars and everybody liked Santa Cruz the best out of those three parts, which was kind of funny.
00:28:35
Speaker
It went Santa Cruz, CGA and then Discovery Kingdom last.
00:28:38
Speaker
And I think those last year were just ride lineup related because CGA has some better rides, I would say.
00:28:44
Speaker
Can we talk about Gold Striker real fast?
00:28:52
Speaker
It was my favorite ride of the trip.
00:28:54
Speaker
I liked it better than Joker.
00:29:01
Speaker
I rank all my coasters.
00:29:05
Speaker
I'll have the energy for that.
00:29:07
Speaker
I was doing it last night as I was falling asleep.
00:29:10
Speaker
That's kind of when I. It's just like the first number and then she fell asleep.
00:29:20
Speaker
That's my second, second highest GCI.
00:29:28
Speaker
I'm not mad at that.
00:29:31
Speaker
Was Joker over Gold Striker to you, Tyler?
00:29:34
Speaker
Joker over Gold Striker for sure.
00:29:36
Speaker
Gold Striker is good.
00:29:37
Speaker
It's just the airtime wasn't enough for me.
00:29:40
Speaker
It had a couple decent pops, but it wasn't strong enough.
00:29:44
Speaker
Yeah, that was my problem.
00:29:45
Speaker
Like the one ride I got just and I felt this way last time I wrote it to it.
00:29:51
Speaker
It wasn't like my favorite.
00:29:52
Speaker
It's kind of middle of the pack for me and GCI land.
00:29:56
Speaker
Yeah, I'd say above average, but not top three.
00:30:02
Speaker
And how are the crowds?
00:30:03
Speaker
You guys are there opening weekend, right?
00:30:05
Speaker
Yeah, that was opening day for CGA that we were there and.
00:30:09
Speaker
Honestly, the morning was quite nice.
00:30:13
Speaker
It did get busier later, for sure.
00:30:15
Speaker
I had anxiety, so I got fast lane.
00:30:20
Speaker
I mean, I rode Goldstriker at like 2 p.m.
00:30:24
Speaker
somewhere on there, and we only waited like 20 minutes.
00:30:27
Speaker
And normally that ride gets bad.
00:30:29
Speaker
Yeah, that's not bad.
00:30:31
Speaker
I just liked not having the fear of having to wait ever.
00:30:34
Speaker
Like it really took the stress off of me.
00:30:36
Speaker
And you were entering the park late and riding the Wild Mouse is up the lane.
00:30:40
Speaker
So that helps for sure.
00:30:43
Speaker
We did run a race that morning.
00:30:44
Speaker
So the bus ran a 5K.
00:30:50
Speaker
railblazer what do we think of that blazer eh unimpressed i mean it's fun the rest of them i just wish it was smooth but it's not yeah i get a headache i got a headache on those headache drops drops the ranking yeah have you done any of the single rails rafa yeah i've ridden the um golden lasso and um oh yeah that's the clone
00:31:16
Speaker
Yeah, I went opening year, so I loved it then.
00:31:19
Speaker
Oh, yeah, it was smooth then.
00:31:21
Speaker
Yeah, I'm hearing it's bad now.
00:31:22
Speaker
Well, they just got a new train, so I'm curious if it's running better now because of that.
00:31:26
Speaker
Because they, like, Siebert said that they're, basically, they made a bunch of changes to the trains that are on, like, the newest Raptors, like Stunt Pilot.
00:31:38
Speaker
So they incorporated a whole bunch of those changes into the new trains that they put on Wonder Woman.
00:31:42
Speaker
And I'm curious if it's riding any better.
00:31:45
Speaker
Yeah, I loved it at the time.
00:31:46
Speaker
Yeah, no, I mean, the first time I rode Wonder Woman, I was like, holy crap.
00:31:50
Speaker
Yeah, like you're all over the place.
00:31:55
Speaker
They do look really cool off ride, like not real.
00:31:57
Speaker
Yeah, because you see like how fast it moves, like swipping you in every direction.
00:32:03
Speaker
It looks like sped up video in real life.
00:32:04
Speaker
You're just watching the train like...
00:32:08
Speaker
The single rails just, they feel like they're missing something for me.
00:32:11
Speaker
And I can't quite put my finger on it.
00:32:13
Speaker
It just doesn't feel complete.
00:32:15
Speaker
I mean, I think it's just because those particular layouts are so short.
00:32:19
Speaker
Like Jersey Devils got a little bit more to it.
00:32:24
Speaker
That is... Not holding up?
00:32:30
Speaker
I mean, it was never my favorite.
00:32:32
Speaker
But yeah, the track joints are just...
00:32:35
Speaker
rough yeah the whole train on real blazer felt like i was riding on like a one of those metal trash cans you know how it's like really oh gosh that's what it reminded me of i don't know what else that's you people loved the invert i was like flight deck
00:32:54
Speaker
Yeah, it was really positive heavy or I was just dehydrated.
00:33:00
Speaker
Yeah, the beginning of the ride hits pretty hard.
00:33:03
Speaker
Like that first loop and the first like turn are pretty positive heavy.
00:33:08
Speaker
It does have some air time though.
00:33:09
Speaker
Like you float over the station and then there's like some float on the drop into the helix over the water.
00:33:14
Speaker
But it's pretty short.
00:33:17
Speaker
Oh, we know what Tyler thinks.
00:33:18
Speaker
You guys want to know what I thought of the invert?
00:33:22
Speaker
No, honestly, that's definitely not one of my favorite inverts.
00:33:26
Speaker
What I don't like about the inverts is just the heavy sustained positive.
00:33:30
Speaker
I've never been a fan of those.
00:33:32
Speaker
So my favorites are like Alpengeist, Banshee, the bigger ones that are just more speedy and you get a real good sense of speed on them.
00:33:42
Speaker
And that's not what the CGA engine is.
00:33:47
Speaker
I mean, I liked it, but it was fine.
00:33:50
Speaker
It wasn't anything stellar.
00:33:51
Speaker
I mean, Gold Strikers and Railblazer are the two stars of that park, not.
00:33:56
Speaker
And probably Gold Strikers at this point more than Railblazer.
00:33:59
Speaker
So maybe not when it first opened, but.
00:34:03
Speaker
Well, and you can't forget Grizzly because that's honestly got to be one of the best wooden coasters.
00:34:11
Speaker
I was very bummed about that ride.
00:34:13
Speaker
You can't detect the sarcasm.
00:34:15
Speaker
Grizzly at CGA is not not grozy.
00:34:18
Speaker
It's decidedly not grozy.
00:34:29
Speaker
You feel like you're about to get some air and then you just don't move at all.
00:34:35
Speaker
Like, I feel like, well, I'm sure people are exaggerating because it's King's Island, but they just did some reprofiling work to the Beast, and apparently it's running better again, which it's a monorail.
00:34:47
Speaker
But, like, Grizzly is also a monorail, and I feel like... Grizzly is actually a monorail, and I thought the, like, negativity about that ride was that it was rough.
00:34:56
Speaker
So I'm, like, in there bracing for my life.
00:34:58
Speaker
You're like, I'm bracing for nothing right now.
00:35:05
Speaker
Like it picks up the fastest speed after the first turnaround and you like think something's going to happen and then absolutely nothing.
00:35:14
Speaker
So, uh, did, was there any like food highlight?
00:35:18
Speaker
On Friday we like went to a whole bunch of breweries.
00:35:22
Speaker
I don't know that any of us are into that scene enough to like speak specifically about any of the beers.
00:35:28
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't have anything.
00:35:29
Speaker
Oh, no, the first one I had a sip of somebody's like berry smoothie sour.
00:35:35
Speaker
Yeah, that was good.
00:35:37
Speaker
I would have drank that, I think, actually, but I was trying not to drink because of the 5K.
00:35:41
Speaker
Yeah, that was that great notion, I believe.
00:35:45
Speaker
Did anybody go overboard with the drinking and then do the 5K?
00:35:50
Speaker
I was about to say, like, that would be insane.
00:35:54
Speaker
I mean, there were other people that didn't do the 5k that pretty much had drinks at all of them, but yeah, they weren't doing a 5k the next morning to be fair.
00:36:04
Speaker
And then Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.
00:36:06
Speaker
Um, we went there like halfway through, well, maybe like two thirds of the way through the day on the Saturday with CGA.
00:36:16
Speaker
Giant Dipper, I'm a big fan.
00:36:18
Speaker
It's a great... Yeah, that was awesome.
00:36:20
Speaker
Great roller coaster.
00:36:20
Speaker
Like, honestly, I might have had more fun on that than Gold Striker, to be honest.
00:36:26
Speaker
And it's way better than the one in San Diego.
00:36:28
Speaker
The one in San Diego is kind of... I mean, it's... Is it as bad as Grizzly?
00:36:33
Speaker
Because it kind of doesn't do much.
00:36:36
Speaker
It doesn't do much, but it's rougher than Grizzly.
00:36:39
Speaker
I remember some very bad jolts on that.
00:36:42
Speaker
Yeah, Belmont is not taking care of that thing, how Santa Cruz, like...
00:36:46
Speaker
Giant Dipper has grit to it, but it's not like rough.
00:36:49
Speaker
It's not like Jackhammer, you know?
00:36:52
Speaker
You know a ride is good when like mid-ride you're looking around to other people's reactions.
00:36:58
Speaker
Like when you're turning around to see what other people are thinking, like was that as good as I just thought it was, then you know it's a good ride.
00:37:04
Speaker
I feel like it would do that.
00:37:05
Speaker
I was a little bit shook because I didn't remember how good it was and I like purposely went to the back of the train and I was like, whoa, I'm out of my seat a lot more than I remember for this like 100-year-old coaster.
00:37:20
Speaker
I love Santa Cruz overall though.
00:37:22
Speaker
Like, oh yeah, they are so good.
00:37:24
Speaker
It was very crowded.
00:37:26
Speaker
Like you said earlier, Kelly, we were a little worried when we first got there.
00:37:31
Speaker
But it seemed like a lot of people, cause there's no admission.
00:37:35
Speaker
You can just walk up and then you pay for your rides, obviously.
00:37:38
Speaker
So a lot of people were just hanging out and eating and food and playing games, whatever.
00:37:43
Speaker
So guidelines weren't terrible.
00:37:45
Speaker
Yeah, none of the cues were like crazy, crazy.
00:37:47
Speaker
Yeah, the spinner, I think, was the worst.
00:37:50
Speaker
Right, yeah, and that's just capacity.
00:37:54
Speaker
But I think that's part of the like why I like it because both times I've been there, it's just been an energetic place because, I mean, maybe it could have stood to have like a slightly less people there, but if it was completely dead, I don't know if it would have felt the same.
00:38:09
Speaker
Do you know what I mean?
00:38:12
Speaker
I would love to go back.
00:38:15
Speaker
Because we, I mean, and I've been twice now and still haven't done everything, but we did get to do the cave train this time, which is kind of one of their unique attractions.
00:38:23
Speaker
It's like a dark ride under the pier.
00:38:26
Speaker
And that was trippy.
00:38:28
Speaker
Definitely unique.
00:38:31
Speaker
Like, I don't know what I thought the theme was, but it wasn't quite that.
00:38:37
Speaker
It was similar to the Knotts,
00:38:41
Speaker
I forget what it's called, but the, the train, what is it?
00:38:45
Speaker
Calico mine train.
00:38:47
Speaker
It's similar vibes to that.
00:38:49
Speaker
Not as good though.
00:38:50
Speaker
I would say for me, it was a mix between that and Joey, did you ride that dark ride underneath the Epcot ball at Europa park?
00:39:00
Speaker
With the dinosaurs.
00:39:02
Speaker
That was the vibe.
00:39:04
Speaker
Except everything was like UV, but that with UV, basically, yes.
00:39:09
Speaker
The other thing, because of the UV that it reminded me of, is Old Mill at Kennywood.
00:39:16
Speaker
Because it has all of the UV scenes with the skeletons and stuff.
00:39:18
Speaker
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:39:22
Speaker
But it's not a boat, it's a train.
00:39:24
Speaker
Yeah, that was cool and different.
00:39:27
Speaker
And you guys all did the Haunted Castle, right?
00:39:37
Speaker
I thought it was going to be kind of like the thing at Camden Park, which is 100% a cred, but it was not that.
00:39:44
Speaker
No, the vehicles were like big.
00:39:47
Speaker
Yeah, it looked more modern than I was expecting for a ghost train type ride.
00:39:53
Speaker
It may be just the vehicles.
00:39:58
Speaker
Noted for the future.
00:40:01
Speaker
Any food highlights from the weekend?
00:40:05
Speaker
Oh, well, I know why Kelly said that.
00:40:09
Speaker
That was a pretty damn good crepe.
00:40:10
Speaker
It was so big that I couldn't even finish it.
00:40:12
Speaker
Did it have Nutella on it?
00:40:17
Speaker
Well, Tyler, you had one too.
00:40:18
Speaker
I also had a crepe.
00:40:19
Speaker
I had the strawberry, I think it was strawberry cheesecake.
00:40:23
Speaker
So it was strawberry with like the cheesecake filling with some whipped cream on top.
00:40:29
Speaker
That did look good.
00:40:30
Speaker
I had some Italian ice and that was very refreshing because it was a hot day.
00:40:37
Speaker
Well, I guess we're kind of at the end of our day there where we did, um,
00:40:41
Speaker
An attraction there, which is an upcharge, I think it's it was $8, right?
Fright Walk and Halloween Horror Nights Speculation
00:40:47
Speaker
It's called Fright Walk Under the Boardwalk.
00:40:50
Speaker
And it's a walkthrough haunted attraction.
00:40:53
Speaker
Unlike the Haunted Castle, which was like a sit down powered vehicle, this was set up as more of a traditional haunted house that you walk through.
00:41:03
Speaker
And we did it obviously because of spooky season in the podcast.
00:41:07
Speaker
And we were curious what it would be like.
00:41:09
Speaker
Because we're bringing you spooky stuff even in April.
00:41:16
Speaker
And it was interesting.
00:41:18
Speaker
Yeah, I want to hear about this.
00:41:22
Speaker
So when I was looking it up, for some reason, I thought it had live actors in it.
00:41:28
Speaker
I don't know if I misread that or...
00:41:31
Speaker
it was incorrect or what, but I thought there was live actors.
00:41:34
Speaker
There are no live actors.
00:41:36
Speaker
And, and I saw the same thing in the reviews.
00:41:38
Speaker
So I don't know if I like have, they cut it at some point in the past or if we were out of season for them having live actors because we went so early.
00:41:47
Speaker
You know what I mean?
00:41:49
Speaker
And I think that's the make or break though.
00:41:50
Speaker
Like imagine if there were real jump scares in there by people.
00:41:54
Speaker
I think it could have been scary.
00:41:56
Speaker
I couldn't see a damn thing.
00:41:59
Speaker
I was like scrunched onto Joey's shirt.
00:42:01
Speaker
I'm like, don't go too fast because I can't see.
00:42:04
Speaker
I went first and Kelly was just like holding me from behind and I was like, you're more scared in here than you are for HHN.
00:42:10
Speaker
I just couldn't freaking see.
00:42:14
Speaker
Like it takes my eyes 10 minutes to adjust.
00:42:16
Speaker
Is it a blue eye thing?
00:42:17
Speaker
I've heard that's the case.
00:42:20
Speaker
I'm sure you're not listening.
00:42:22
Speaker
He's not our one listener.
00:42:24
Speaker
No, it stopped on.
00:42:27
Speaker
And Tim told me one time, cause we did a similar attraction at Indiana beach.
00:42:31
Speaker
He's like, my eyes take 10 minutes to adjust cause they're blue.
00:42:34
Speaker
And I'm like, that makes so much sense.
00:42:37
Speaker
I mean, I have blue eyes and it wasn't that hard for me, but.
00:42:43
Speaker
It was dark in there, though.
00:42:45
Speaker
Like the AJ Jen stuff is typically a little bit brighter than that.
00:42:49
Speaker
Purposefully, I think.
00:42:51
Speaker
I mean, they had some like jump scare animatronics and like things that were being set off in there that got me a couple times.
00:42:58
Speaker
Not like I wasn't really scared atmospherically walking through it, but those jump scares got me a couple times.
00:43:04
Speaker
I like the drop floor part.
00:43:08
Speaker
Yeah, that was one of them that got me because I went first and I'm walking across like the floor, not really thinking anything.
00:43:13
Speaker
And then the whole floor just went like dropped out.
00:43:16
Speaker
And then I walked on it, knowing it was going to happen.
00:43:18
Speaker
And it still scared me.
00:43:21
Speaker
And I can appreciate those kinds of things because you won't ever see that in an HHN house or like a bigger haunt just for, I'm sure, liability reasons.
00:43:30
Speaker
So I can never see that.
00:43:30
Speaker
Yeah, they wouldn't get away with that.
00:43:32
Speaker
The smaller houses.
00:43:34
Speaker
Yeah, no physical scares or whatever.
00:43:36
Speaker
There was also, I like when they do the like, you're in a room with like six doors, which door do you go through?
00:43:42
Speaker
That was actually pretty great.
00:43:44
Speaker
Yeah, because we like opened two doors and neither of them had anything that we could go into.
00:43:50
Speaker
It was the last door.
00:43:51
Speaker
Then we opened the third door and the third door led somewhere so we went in and then we walked in a U-turn and came back into the same room and we were like, wait, what?
00:44:01
Speaker
And then we opened the last door and it was like, this is the one.
00:44:04
Speaker
There was a sign that said this way.
00:44:08
Speaker
Yeah, I forgot about that part.
00:44:10
Speaker
Another thing that HHN wouldn't have done was Kelly's favorite part, I think.
00:44:17
Speaker
They had like the claustrophobia blow up curtains, like press up against you where you have to walk through it.
00:44:24
Speaker
And it's just like simulating pitch black, I guess.
00:44:27
Speaker
So I had, I've only experienced something like that once at a local haunt we went to last year.
00:44:32
Speaker
And they were more like, I guess you would call them like,
00:44:38
Speaker
mats from a gym like they were kind of more like they weren't puffy like they were like they were soft but they were not like movable and they kind of like were in shape like stiff mats yeah kind of so like you had to like crouch down to be able to like walk through like you had to like manipulate your body to get through it and that's like immediately what i thought of and i was like i do not like this at all and then i realized i could like push them over like out of my way but like
00:45:04
Speaker
I don't like the feeling of things touching me that I don't want to.
00:45:10
Speaker
I have like a little bit of germophobia.
00:45:13
Speaker
So I'm immediately like, Oh my God, these things are like on my face.
00:45:16
Speaker
Like, I just don't like this at all.
00:45:19
Speaker
And then like, I couldn't see and Joey's like becoming like further and further away from me.
00:45:23
Speaker
I like couldn't go.
00:45:24
Speaker
Tyler's like physically pushing me through.
00:45:30
Speaker
So you weren't even scared because of the claustrophobia like they were going for.
00:45:34
Speaker
You were just scared because of the germs.
00:45:41
Speaker
They used to have those at Busch Gardens Hollow Scream all the time.
00:45:44
Speaker
So I've seen those many times before.
00:45:46
Speaker
My immediate reaction was like my hand sanitizer bottle does not have enough liquid left to cover my entire body that has just touched these things.
00:45:58
Speaker
And then I was like, oh my God, wait, where is the hand sanitizer?
00:46:03
Speaker
If it was in the car, that would have wrecked the rest of the night for me.
00:46:10
Speaker
If you ever need hand sanitizer at a park, I have it.
00:46:14
Speaker
It sounds like they harnessed Kelly's true fears, though.
00:46:16
Speaker
They really hit the ball there.
00:46:19
Speaker
Was it worth the entertainment?
00:46:30
Speaker
And it was like decently long too.
00:46:32
Speaker
It was a good link.
00:46:34
Speaker
Like you literally went under the pier cause it starts out with stairs.
00:46:37
Speaker
You go down and then you're like down there for a while and you come back up at the end.
00:46:41
Speaker
It was multi-year-old.
00:46:42
Speaker
I was trying to get us to take our time.
00:46:44
Speaker
And then all of a sudden the group behind us was like right there.
00:46:50
Speaker
That's, you know, but they do like, I mean, it wasn't a conga line or anything.
00:46:54
Speaker
So we were on our own there for a little bit.
00:46:56
Speaker
which I kind of like that aspect of smaller Han.
00:46:59
Speaker
I mean, for what you got, I mean, it's a fun experience.
00:47:03
Speaker
I think it was fair.
00:47:06
Speaker
So I think that's all that we really have for our trip report.
00:47:09
Speaker
Rafa, have you been anywhere interesting or?
00:47:13
Speaker
There's interesting things on the horizon.
00:47:19
Speaker
Okay, so our next topic is kind of Kelly's domain here, but we're all going to try to pitch in and kind of see what we think.
00:47:28
Speaker
So on, well, not, was it actually on Easter Day or, yeah.
00:47:34
Speaker
On Easter, Horror Night Nightmares dropped their latest spec map.
00:47:39
Speaker
So we have version three?
00:47:43
Speaker
He didn't even call it that.
00:47:44
Speaker
He just says like Easter preview.
00:47:48
Speaker
So it makes it sound almost like, yeah, it is the third iteration.
00:47:53
Speaker
It makes it sound like there's maybe like some more stuff coming soon.
00:47:57
Speaker
Like he has more and this is just kind of like a preview to that.
00:48:00
Speaker
I don't know, but a lot of it is the same or similar as the one that we reviewed in our last episode, but there are a couple of little changes.
00:48:09
Speaker
I'm kind of annoyed because I feel like last time I did a lot of research trying to match the code name, like the flower code name to what the house could be.
00:48:17
Speaker
And now there's so many different locations.
00:48:19
Speaker
I knew it was going to happen, but I'm like, what the heck?
00:48:22
Speaker
I made everything work in my brain and now it works less in my brain.
00:48:27
Speaker
There's only a couple that kind of kept the same position and then other things are all shifting around.
00:48:32
Speaker
So I guess we can run through it.
00:48:36
Speaker
The first one just going the same direction clockwise 23 a is the same.
00:48:43
Speaker
It's still that like ship.
00:48:47
Speaker
Vikings question mark.
00:48:49
Speaker
I feel like that's all I've really seen in the community is just like discussion about Vikings, probably an original.
00:48:55
Speaker
That hasn't changed.
00:48:57
Speaker
The next one though, 22 completely changed on the last spec map.
00:49:01
Speaker
That was the thumbs up, which we still think is probably fallout that moved to a tent.
00:49:06
Speaker
um but now we have on 22 which is a sound stage what looks like i don't know if i'm just interpreting it as a wrestling ring because i really think that that's coming and it's heavily rumored but it kind of looks like wrestling ring with like a coffin type shape in the middle yeah and what do we think this replaced the one with the film and the blood yeah that one's gone now yeah
00:49:33
Speaker
See, that's interesting though.
00:49:34
Speaker
Cause I feel like the film and the blood has nothing to do with this new image.
00:49:38
Speaker
But do you think, I think maybe the film and the blood was scream because that was heavily rumored for a while.
00:49:44
Speaker
And now nobody's talking about everybody on like the HHN, like discord that I'm in and like on Twitter and stuff are like, ha ha, they got us again.
00:49:53
Speaker
Cause scream is just like rumored all the time.
00:49:55
Speaker
It was either a fake out or it like got dropped.
00:50:00
Speaker
I think maybe that's what happened with that.
00:50:05
Speaker
I think there's been a lot of rumors of this WWE thing.
00:50:09
Speaker
I don't know if people were saying maybe the coffin is like, and you had said this too in our chat, Rafa, the undertaker, which is like one of the WWE people I actually know.
00:50:20
Speaker
And that's the one that Ricky had brought up as well.
00:50:24
Speaker
I don't know anything about it, but I know the name undertaker.
00:50:27
Speaker
So it might be that I,
00:50:31
Speaker
I was able to tie the code name to this one.
00:50:33
Speaker
The code name for this house is Poppy.
00:50:36
Speaker
And apparently there's like a musical artist who does like all of the like death core music for WWE or a lot of it.
00:50:43
Speaker
And her name is Poppy.
00:50:47
Speaker
That could be the final location for that one.
00:50:52
Speaker
And is that, I guess we would consider that an IP.
00:50:55
Speaker
It's not like a film.
00:50:56
Speaker
I don't know if that's considered an IP.
00:50:59
Speaker
I think they would consider that.
00:51:02
Speaker
I think they would.
00:51:03
Speaker
Because if they license WWE, that's like for sure IP.
00:51:07
Speaker
Yeah, I think you would say that.
00:51:10
Speaker
But it's not on the other, right?
00:51:12
Speaker
It's only on the Orlando map.
00:51:15
Speaker
But we, something that we did notice as well was that there's a lot of, there's like some promo going on right now with WWE and the Orlando parks.
00:51:23
Speaker
So, you know, that also shows that it could be like an Orlando exclusive.
00:51:33
Speaker
Moving on to 23B, we have the security camera, which on the previous version was in Fast and Furious.
00:51:40
Speaker
So this has moved to a sound, a bigger sound stage.
00:51:44
Speaker
We were talking about Five Nights at Freddy's.
00:51:46
Speaker
I think it's still pretty clear that that's probably what it is.
00:51:49
Speaker
And I think a lot of people are sounding pretty confident that that's coming this year.
00:51:55
Speaker
So that is just moving locations.
00:51:58
Speaker
Do you know anything about this property?
00:52:02
Speaker
We have you, have any of you guys watched it?
00:52:09
Speaker
Does it lend itself to a soundstage?
00:52:10
Speaker
Are there big sets that they could do?
00:52:15
Speaker
It mostly takes place in the restaurant area.
00:52:20
Speaker
I think of it like a Chuck E. Cheese.
00:52:24
Speaker
It's sort of like, think of like Night at the Museum, like all the scenes are within the museum itself.
00:52:32
Speaker
I mean, there are some scenes that are outside, but they're not outside of that spot at all, really.
00:52:41
Speaker
I mean, just a few times, but not enough to like,
00:52:45
Speaker
make like a bunch of sets so i don't i don't really see that being but in theory they could do like the facade and you like walk in right yeah because a lot of sound stages a lot of movies right are they all like maybe they there's five nights at freddy's there's only one movie it's only one yeah well it was a video game and then it was adapted into it got it got it right okay okay interesting
00:53:09
Speaker
Um, codenamed Violet, I guess maybe one of the, like, stuffed animatronic things is purple.
00:53:19
Speaker
I mean, I could see, I mean, there are a lot of, like, rooms in that restaurant, um, in the film.
00:53:25
Speaker
So it could be that you're going into each area of that restaurant.
00:53:29
Speaker
I mean, I could see it working there, but I do see it being a better fit for Fast and Furious.
00:53:35
Speaker
Yeah, that's interesting.
00:53:36
Speaker
I was gonna suggest we...
00:53:39
Speaker
um tyler and i are going to watch a spooky movie when he's here next weekend after we do a very long race that we're not prepared for um and i was going to suggest that one but you got half of us have seen it so i'll watch that on my own time we'll pick a different one we got to pick one before the end of the episode that maybe is new to more of us and then we can talk about it in our next episode or a next episode but yeah okay
00:54:05
Speaker
I think the only weird thing about that is I thought that was maybe a good spot for, or a good house for the fast and furious location.
00:54:13
Speaker
And now I'm kind of like, eh, that's a big soundstage.
00:54:16
Speaker
Like what was there last year?
00:54:19
Speaker
That was insidious.
00:54:22
Speaker
No, I think insidious was in that may have been ghostbusters.
00:54:34
Speaker
Cause I was like very large sets.
00:54:40
Speaker
Freddy's is such a tent or a fast and furious kind of house.
00:54:46
Speaker
And this is probably change again.
00:54:48
Speaker
It'll probably change.
00:54:49
Speaker
It'll probably change.
00:54:52
Speaker
24 B is the same symbol as last time that I explained in exquisite detail.
00:54:58
Speaker
The symbol is exactly the same.
00:55:00
Speaker
It's like the city scape inside of a ring with wings and
00:55:04
Speaker
and some sort of head and yeah, I don't know.
00:55:11
Speaker
I still don't know.
00:55:12
Speaker
I don't know what it means.
00:55:13
Speaker
You had a thought though, Joey.
00:55:15
Speaker
Well, this is not even my original thought, but some people have been speculating.
00:55:19
Speaker
Um, there was a scare zone at HHN Hollywood in 2017.
00:55:25
Speaker
So this is like throwback called urban inferno.
00:55:28
Speaker
And the description of it was take your chances as you journey through hell where your encounter burnt lost souls, half goat executioners, mad monks, blah, blah, blah.
00:55:37
Speaker
And it was based on like a, a cityscape, um,
00:55:41
Speaker
kind of like an urban scene with these demons populating the urban environment so it kind of fits in with the graphic but honestly that's such a i don't know hhn does niche references like that sometimes they they'll take a scare zone and expand it out so it could be totally that feels like a stretch of people just trying to grasp at something they already know you know what i mean that will actually scare me like burnt people scares me like
00:56:05
Speaker
Yeah, we haven't seen anything like that.
00:56:06
Speaker
I don't like that at all.
00:56:08
Speaker
Yeah, we're not going to talk about these.
00:56:12
Speaker
I don't like it at all.
00:56:17
Speaker
25 is now a ghost in like a light bulb symbol, whereas before it was a ghost in the magnifying glass.
00:56:26
Speaker
People are talking all over the internet about this being poltergeist now.
00:56:33
Speaker
Because apparently they're building that already in Hollywood.
00:56:37
Speaker
There's some kind of facade going up for Poltergeist.
00:56:40
Speaker
Has anybody seen Poltergeist?
00:56:43
Speaker
I have seen Poltergeist.
00:56:45
Speaker
It's been a long time though.
00:56:46
Speaker
I could rewatch it.
00:56:47
Speaker
Are there multiple?
00:56:48
Speaker
Is there an old one and a new one?
00:56:50
Speaker
There is a new one.
00:56:52
Speaker
But I don't think they would go based off of that one.
00:56:55
Speaker
I don't think it would.
00:56:57
Speaker
That one didn't do as well as the original.
00:56:59
Speaker
And they did do the original one a couple years ago.
00:57:07
Speaker
So it's been some time.
00:57:08
Speaker
Maybe this is the homework.
00:57:14
Speaker
It's definitely going to be a paranormal kind of.
00:57:20
Speaker
This symbol was used in both maps, right?
00:57:22
Speaker
For Hollywood and Orlando?
00:57:25
Speaker
Um, I didn't actually look at the new Hollywood map, but I, the ghost, the ghost in the magnifying glass was yes.
00:57:31
Speaker
And what's interesting though, is that everybody's saying that 25 is always used as like a big set house.
00:57:38
Speaker
Like it is a soundstage.
00:57:39
Speaker
Do you think, I mean, I don't know the movie because I haven't seen it, but do you think of that?
00:57:43
Speaker
It's like warranted, I guess if it's a, I guess it's a pretty big movie.
00:57:50
Speaker
It could have some larger sets.
00:57:53
Speaker
I think so for poltergeist.
00:57:55
Speaker
Yeah, no, definitely.
00:57:56
Speaker
Well, when they had it last time, it was in a soundstage.
00:58:00
Speaker
It did pretty well in there.
00:58:03
Speaker
I saw some people speculating that this is still Scream because it looks like Ghostface.
00:58:07
Speaker
Yeah, I can see that.
00:58:09
Speaker
I think people just want Scream really bad.
00:58:12
Speaker
I know, that's kind of how I was reading that.
00:58:14
Speaker
Yeah, this symbol, I'm looking at the Hollywood map here, and they have that same symbol as well.
00:58:21
Speaker
So I think that's why people are leaning towards Poltergeist because I think one of the facades that they're building there is like recognizable from the film.
00:58:29
Speaker
Something like that.
00:58:31
Speaker
What's weird is the code name for that house is Poinsettia.
00:58:34
Speaker
I obviously don't know the movie, but everything I like Google searched, I couldn't tie that in.
00:58:39
Speaker
So maybe it just doesn't have like an actual relationship to the movie.
00:58:42
Speaker
Maybe it's just like in the house or something.
00:58:44
Speaker
It might not be Final Location either.
00:58:48
Speaker
Maybe it's because it's downstage 25 and 25, the 25th of December is Christmas.
00:58:54
Speaker
And Christmas has poinsettias.
00:58:56
Speaker
Maybe it has nothing to do with the house.
00:58:58
Speaker
Probably just the location.
00:59:02
Speaker
Well, anyways, moving on to the Fast and Furious location, which used to be the security camera is now the Saks that we believe to be terrifier.
00:59:16
Speaker
I think I could see Terrifier working in there, just set-wise, because it's kind of warehouse-y.
00:59:24
Speaker
They've done a lot of camp in that location.
00:59:29
Speaker
I'm just worried about that queue.
00:59:30
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be terrible.
00:59:33
Speaker
Unless they fix it.
00:59:34
Speaker
It's such a big IP.
00:59:39
Speaker
But it would work.
00:59:41
Speaker
I'm excited for that house now that I've seen the movie, but I, there's just a lot of movies I need to watch and I'm sure I'll be excited for them too.
00:59:48
Speaker
Um, 10th three is still the book with the snowflakes.
00:59:51
Speaker
I just seen more people speculate that it's like a winter scary tales.
00:59:57
Speaker
That definitely seems like one of the originals.
01:00:00
Speaker
And that one's on the Hollywood one either.
01:00:04
Speaker
10th four is now the thumbs up that we think is fallout.
01:00:10
Speaker
I was surprised that this would be in a tent, but those, these are like the newer tents, not like the sprung tents.
01:00:15
Speaker
So I guess I could see it.
01:00:16
Speaker
That's like where bloodlines was.
01:00:21
Speaker
And then tent one on the previous map was like the pirate eyes with the patch and then the chain.
01:00:28
Speaker
And we speculated it was, um, hatching and chain from slaughter cinema.
01:00:34
Speaker
Now there's a chain over top of a wanted sign, which to me is the same vibe.
01:00:40
Speaker
yeah yeah it's still yeah it's not much different yeah i feel like that's gonna be that's gonna be the house like i think it's gonna be that that theme yeah i feel like i might really like that one it might be one of those like originals that ends up being really good like yeti came out of um slaughter cinema one and that was so good and i love like
01:01:02
Speaker
A lot of the tent ones down there, like Darkest Deal was down there.
01:01:07
Speaker
I just, those like sneaky, well-themed original houses I tend to like.
01:01:15
Speaker
Western design being like a fun set as well.
01:01:21
Speaker
Last one, tent two last time was like a robotic space.
01:01:30
Speaker
And now I don't know what to call this like a broadcast tower.
01:01:36
Speaker
Like electrode Tesla coil broadcast.
01:01:42
Speaker
So I don't know how those connect.
01:01:44
Speaker
I don't know at all.
01:01:45
Speaker
I don't know what the first one is and I don't know what this one is.
01:01:50
Speaker
they kind of give similar vibes in a way, like a little bit like sci-fi.
01:01:56
Speaker
And maybe that's all that they had to go off of.
01:01:58
Speaker
And so they just start putting generic sci-fi.
01:01:59
Speaker
It's probably just an original sci-fi.
01:02:07
Speaker
We also have like the... I know.
01:02:12
Speaker
I feel like we're getting so close to epic opening that I don't know if they're going to drop something before it at this point.
01:02:19
Speaker
That's a full month away.
01:02:20
Speaker
Yeah, I mean... Yeah, I hope so.
01:02:22
Speaker
It's two completely different teams, though, so... I know.
01:02:29
Speaker
I also feel like... I completely forgot what I was going to say.
01:02:34
Speaker
I feel like we did just get the announcement not too long ago about the Vegas...
01:02:42
Speaker
that's true and they're still like actively advertising that stuff yeah right so they've been doing like teasers for each house and yeah yeah so i feel like it was that then epic and then maybe a month after epic's opening they'll finally release some information along with the ticket sales because they normally start around june is it normal to have all of the houses when they start selling tickets or no
01:03:06
Speaker
They normally release houses like a month and a half to two months prior.
01:03:11
Speaker
They'll give you a couple, but I don't think they're all there.
01:03:14
Speaker
Like, go get the major IPs, like, first.
01:03:17
Speaker
I think they'd have to release some details before a month after Epic, though.
01:03:21
Speaker
That'd be June 22nd, I think.
01:03:24
Speaker
It's going to start, like, barely a month after that.
01:03:26
Speaker
They got to release some more.
01:03:32
Speaker
We good on HHN for now.
01:03:36
Speaker
We'll wait and see.
Herschen's Acquisition and Music-Inspired HHN Ideas
01:03:37
Speaker
What movie are we going to watch?
01:03:39
Speaker
Are we going to do Poltergeist?
01:03:41
Speaker
We could do Poltergeist.
01:03:49
Speaker
That's the most recent one, I guess.
01:03:50
Speaker
To remain flexible if we get an announcement, though.
01:03:54
Speaker
Yeah, this is true.
01:03:56
Speaker
All right, so we're on to questions from Cpred.
01:04:01
Speaker
Can you discuss your thoughts on Herschen's recent purchase of the Palace Parks chain?
01:04:07
Speaker
And if they plan on removing the Halloween events, also discuss an alternate reality where Herschen puts on amazing Halloween events.
01:04:14
Speaker
What could you see theming wise and houses going into their parks?
01:04:17
Speaker
That's actually a really good question because none of the existing Herschen parks have
01:04:24
Speaker
spooky Halloween events they have family friendly like pumpkin festival fall festival type events I don't even Kentucky Kingdom's not open are they for October they had a Halloween event like one year like five or six years ago but okay I don't think they're even open anymore okay yeah
01:04:48
Speaker
I think this conversation borders a little bit of like the religious basis behind, you know, Hershen's parks and, you know, the, what Halloween means to people.
01:05:07
Speaker
But I'm curious because they haven't like,
01:05:10
Speaker
Obviously, Dollywood and Silver Dollar City are kind of what I would say are the most Herschend of the Herschend parks.
01:05:16
Speaker
And they haven't completely done away with aspects of other parks that they've acquired that are local to them.
01:05:22
Speaker
Kentucky Kingdom, a bunch of people were like, oh, no, they're going to get rid of all the alcohol sales.
01:05:26
Speaker
They have like they have bourbon in their cinnamon bread there.
01:05:29
Speaker
So they're not, you know, completely ignoring kind of local aspects.
01:05:33
Speaker
And I feel that Lake Compounds in particular has such a history of having haunt events.
01:05:40
Speaker
It would be really strange for them to fully pivot that towards a family friendly event.
01:05:46
Speaker
I could see them doing this sort of split thing that a lot of parks do where they have like the family friendly daytime activities.
01:05:51
Speaker
But I mean, they have like, didn't they have like four, four or five mazes there last year?
01:05:56
Speaker
I feel like it would be weird for them just to completely know.
01:06:02
Speaker
I can't remember if it was four or five, but I mean, they have a significant number of mazes.
01:06:05
Speaker
So it would be strange for them to fully cut that aspect of that park, especially just knowing that like, that's the kind of thing that the locals come to because it's different.
01:06:16
Speaker
And I think like to like what we're seeing with Six Flags and Cedar Fair is like,
01:06:21
Speaker
when and that's more of a merger than it is like a purchasing of parks but when someone is a when a park is acquired by another entity it doesn't necessarily become what you know of that larger entity it's still going to be probably run like palace parks have been to some extent for quite some time the same people will probably still be involved to some extent like i don't think we're going to see like drastic massive changes immediately yeah and
01:06:51
Speaker
You know, from a business perspective, I feel like at least our experience at Lake Compounce was that event was like pretty well attended, their Halloween event.
01:07:02
Speaker
So it would be strange for them to like lose out on that.
01:07:06
Speaker
And I think they will lose out on it if they made it just like a daytime family thing.
01:07:11
Speaker
And same thing at Kennywood, they have Phantom Fall Fest and they've been doing that for a while.
01:07:16
Speaker
I have at the very least for this season, because planning for those types of events goes out months.
01:07:21
Speaker
And this acquisition only just happened recently.
01:07:23
Speaker
I can't imagine they're going to pivot off of that immediately.
01:07:27
Speaker
I could see them, you know, making some changes to be more family friendly, but I don't know that it'll just immediately disappear.
01:07:35
Speaker
It is interesting to think about, though, like haunts at Silver Dollar City or Dollywood if they were to actually do something scary.
01:07:45
Speaker
That would be amazing.
01:07:46
Speaker
Because I mean, I've never been to Dollywood, but I feel like Silver Dollar City like like you could do something in the woods.
01:07:54
Speaker
Yeah, the setting is so good.
01:07:55
Speaker
It's not going to happen, though.
01:07:57
Speaker
It's perfect for it, but... Yeah.
01:07:59
Speaker
I mean, that's why he said alternate reality, because it's not going to happen.
01:08:02
Speaker
But it would be pretty cool if you could.
01:08:04
Speaker
And I mean, you could spin off some of the things that they have in the parks to make mazes.
01:08:08
Speaker
Like, they have their, like, fireman sections, and you could do something creepy with that, and...
01:08:14
Speaker
Yeah, there's definitely stuff to play around with.
01:08:16
Speaker
Like the Tennessee tornado, I feel like you could spin off into some kind of house themed around like storms or I don't know, something.
01:08:25
Speaker
Oh, and mystery mine.
01:08:29
Speaker
I would do a whole maze just based on that.
01:08:31
Speaker
That would be kind of cool to spin that storyline off into a house.
01:08:36
Speaker
Could make time traveler creepy.
01:08:40
Speaker
Wait, that could almost be like a slaughter cinema type thing where you're like time traveling into different like decades.
01:08:48
Speaker
That would be fun.
01:08:48
Speaker
That would be awesome.
01:08:51
Speaker
If they were to do that, so many opportunities, but we're just dreaming right now.
01:08:58
Speaker
Okay, we have a question from our favorite listener, Scott Not Don.
01:09:05
Speaker
What house or IP, based on the current spec map or the rumors, do you think fans are sleeping on the surprise hit of the year?
01:09:17
Speaker
I think that's Getty Western.
01:09:19
Speaker
I think people are going to love it.
01:09:23
Speaker
Nobody's talking about it.
01:09:25
Speaker
I think I kind of agree because he mentioned it here with, with Scott Dawn that WWE could potentially be like more scary or like more intense than we expect.
01:09:39
Speaker
I'm going to say the, the Norse or Viking one, because everything they've done with boats or water has been a smash hit in the past years.
01:09:50
Speaker
So I would love to see something like that.
01:09:53
Speaker
They're like incredibly themed.
01:09:56
Speaker
He also mentioned Fallout and yeah, that's an interesting one because we've kind of talked about it here over the last couple episodes about the potential that that has because it's not really a spooky property like the series is not what I would describe as spooky vibes or Halloween ish.
01:10:13
Speaker
But there's a lot of potential for it to be really interesting from like a set design aspect.
01:10:19
Speaker
And I could see how you could make it scary.
01:10:22
Speaker
I could see it being like a Ghostbuster thing, like where Ghostbusters wasn't really too scary, but the sets were insane.
01:10:29
Speaker
I think it'll fit really well if it isn't one of those like tent three or tent four.
01:10:32
Speaker
I don't know any, I haven't watched the show or anything yet, but just like what I've read about it and described, like what's been described about the scenes, like they're in a vault.
01:10:40
Speaker
Those like tents almost feel like that.
01:10:46
Speaker
Thanks for your question, Scott.
01:10:49
Speaker
We have one from Tom.
01:10:52
Speaker
What musical artist should have a house?
01:10:54
Speaker
No repeats and explain why.
01:10:56
Speaker
I guess that means we can't use the weekend.
01:10:58
Speaker
Have there been any other musical artists with houses?
01:11:01
Speaker
I think he's saying like we all have to say one.
01:11:03
Speaker
Oh, we all have to say one.
01:11:10
Speaker
Can I just take the obvious?
01:11:12
Speaker
I need a Lady Gaga house.
01:11:14
Speaker
Her new album is all spooky.
01:11:17
Speaker
If you watch any of her Coachella performance, the whole thing is so spooky.
01:11:21
Speaker
I'm like, oh my God, this would be so good.
01:11:23
Speaker
Yeah, that would be perfect.
01:11:26
Speaker
If anyone wants to see her with me in New York in the summer, I am looking for someone to go.
01:11:34
Speaker
He has tickets to Miami already, but he would go twice.
01:11:38
Speaker
I will buy tickets immediately if I find someone interested.
01:11:43
Speaker
Yeah, that would be great.
01:11:47
Speaker
I mean, that was the obvious answer.
01:11:52
Speaker
We can't do repeats.
01:11:54
Speaker
I think I have heard of the idea of people saying that there should be like a Michael Jackson thriller house.
01:12:03
Speaker
I think that would be a pretty neat house idea.
01:12:08
Speaker
I think that'd be pretty cool.
01:12:10
Speaker
And there's multiple songs that could work as like inspiration.
01:12:14
Speaker
Different rooms and stuff.
01:12:16
Speaker
A hundred percent.
01:12:21
Speaker
Do you guys know what I'm going to say?
01:12:30
Speaker
Each how, I mean, you can separate it into eras.
01:12:33
Speaker
She's got some, you know, some borderline creepy music videos, like the rep era.
01:12:39
Speaker
You can have the snakes and everything.
01:12:41
Speaker
I mean, that's all I can see is reputation.
01:12:46
Speaker
the best era definitely more like later stuff than earlier stuff because her early stuff i don't see how you can make that creepy at all but right you can do like a reputation era house yeah do that instead of doing the eras you could just do that one specific era i'd be here for that yeah
01:13:08
Speaker
I feel like the good answers have been taken.
01:13:12
Speaker
I'm trying to, I've been trying to think of somebody who has the right vibe for that.
01:13:16
Speaker
And so far, the only thing that has popped into my head is so random, but Bjork,
01:13:23
Speaker
Cause she's so wackadoodle.
01:13:25
Speaker
That could be really weird.
01:13:27
Speaker
Like if you look at her album art and stuff, there's been some interesting and strange stuff.
01:13:33
Speaker
I could go with some like pop punk, like music that they play there.
01:13:39
Speaker
I also feel like just from a pop culture standpoint, Beyonce, like I could see them easily trying to do one just based on music videos or that kind of thing.
01:13:52
Speaker
So I have a second one that would actually be really good to your point, Kelly.
01:13:56
Speaker
It's Ice Nine Kills.
01:13:59
Speaker
They're not like the hugest name, but they do most of their songs.
01:14:04
Speaker
There are a lot of their songs, at least from the one album, are each based on a specific horror movie.
01:14:09
Speaker
I don't know if you guys knew that.
01:14:10
Speaker
And then they do, I think they did the official music for Terrifier also.
01:14:18
Speaker
So you guys have to look them up.
01:14:21
Speaker
Were you talking to me about this at some point?
01:14:24
Speaker
No, I don't think so.
01:14:24
Speaker
Did we talk about this?
01:14:25
Speaker
Maybe Tom brought that up.
01:14:26
Speaker
Somebody talked, I have heard about this before.
01:14:29
Speaker
Somebody mentioned it.
01:14:30
Speaker
I just heard about it recently, but they're not quite heavy metal.
01:14:34
Speaker
They're more like metal core, I think, but that's, they're a hundred percent like the HHN vibe.
01:14:39
Speaker
I could totally see it.
01:14:40
Speaker
I just don't know if they have the star power to attract guests, honestly, but.
01:14:46
Speaker
Yeah, the music theme has always been such a sleeper hit for me.
01:14:50
Speaker
I really didn't expect to like The Weeknd House as much as I did.
01:14:55
Speaker
And I think the cool thing about it is that it made me want to listen to the music.
01:14:58
Speaker
I wasn't the biggest Weeknd fan, but after that house, I was like, all right, now I've got to listen to it because it's pretty cool.
01:15:08
Speaker
So we have one more from Tom and that's the end of our questions.
Enhancing HHN Experience and Upcoming Events
01:15:12
Speaker
What quality of life feature should be added to HHN that would have the best impact?
01:15:18
Speaker
I'm guessing this means nothing to do with like the houses, quality of life.
01:15:24
Speaker
I literally was going to just say that.
01:15:26
Speaker
Put a bench outside of Fast and Furious and I'll be so happy.
01:15:30
Speaker
Because count the number of times my ass has been on that curb.
01:15:34
Speaker
I had the same thought the first time I read this.
01:15:37
Speaker
Have you ever seen the queues in, is it Japan or China?
01:15:41
Speaker
Where it's literally, they have benches in the actual queue.
01:15:45
Speaker
Well, definitely China because I remember seeing them on Bradley's story.
01:15:49
Speaker
When he was recently there.
01:15:50
Speaker
That would be so nice.
01:15:54
Speaker
That would be so nice.
01:15:54
Speaker
Because you spend so much time standing.
01:15:56
Speaker
What if there was like a bench escalator where you just sit on the bench and then move along the queue line?
01:16:02
Speaker
She had that same idea.
01:16:04
Speaker
She had told me, she's like, what if we have like benches and it's like a moving walkway and it just like moves you like while you're on the bench.
01:16:10
Speaker
Get on it, Universal.
01:16:12
Speaker
This would probably be really unpopular, but like.
01:16:18
Speaker
Because then you don't have to stand.
01:16:23
Speaker
I think they could do a lot better.
01:16:30
Speaker
I think the experience in the queues could be so much better.
01:16:35
Speaker
Have one or two characters from the house outside walking around.
01:16:38
Speaker
Play music from the house.
01:16:40
Speaker
Have any type of anything.
01:16:42
Speaker
And sometimes they'll do it like
01:16:43
Speaker
they'll have screens and they'll play like trailers over and over and over again for freaking Megan or whatever else.
01:16:50
Speaker
But it's like, they are such a themed focus theme park.
01:16:56
Speaker
HHN is so well themed inside the houses.
01:16:58
Speaker
Like just bring a little bit outside, just a little bit outside to keep me entertained.
01:17:03
Speaker
Because I can only play cell phone games for so long.
01:17:07
Speaker
And most of the general public don't even know what they're going into with these original houses.
01:17:10
Speaker
So like do something to pump them up and get them ready for what they're about to go into.
01:17:15
Speaker
That's what's always like.
01:17:15
Speaker
The ads on the projection screens don't do anything for me.
01:17:20
Speaker
The ones where they try to game it.
01:17:22
Speaker
I'm doing the same thing over and over and over.
01:17:25
Speaker
So those IPs aren't even like for the houses.
01:17:27
Speaker
Like they're just a random like peacock or something.
01:17:31
Speaker
And then the one outside slot of cinema works because it was a bunch of the films kind of cleaned up.
01:17:38
Speaker
They could do so much more of that.
01:17:40
Speaker
They could do so much more of that.
01:17:42
Speaker
I get that we have to wait in probably a couple of concrete slabs or like...
01:17:48
Speaker
um out in the middle of nowhere by those tents like i get that you can't like theme the area but like bring something out there yeah the worst music with the weekend house like the when you were waiting in line with the weekend music like that was bopping yeah it was awesome yeah the worst is always outside fast and furious watching the hogwarts express go by the magic is just so done it's brightly lit yeah
01:18:16
Speaker
But I mentioned this in one of our earlier episodes, but Hollywood does a very good job of that.
01:18:20
Speaker
They have a facade at almost every house and then a character out front right at the entrance.
01:18:26
Speaker
It's setting the vibe for you.
01:18:28
Speaker
So I think Orlando can definitely do a better job of that.
01:18:33
Speaker
But I don't think it's going to change that much.
01:18:35
Speaker
No, I wish it would, but it's probably not.
01:18:39
Speaker
I mean, there's really not like I feel like they have enough food and beverage and, you know, the scare zones are what they are.
01:18:45
Speaker
It's not really a quality of life change.
01:18:47
Speaker
That would be the cues are really kind of the biggest.
01:18:51
Speaker
You know, it's not like it's holding attendance.
01:18:53
Speaker
So until that happens, nothing's going to change.
01:18:59
Speaker
So that's the end of our questions.
01:19:02
Speaker
Coming up in the future, we kind of already hinted at this, but everybody will have been to Epic Universe by the end of not this month, but mid-May.
01:19:13
Speaker
So after that happens, we will be on again to have a sort of dedicated episode for Epic Universe so we can talk about it.
01:19:23
Speaker
And it'll be a spoiler alert.
01:19:26
Speaker
episode for those who haven't been and don't want to hear anything about it that you can skip that one and then we will have another episode next month after the next Buzz Bars event that is happening Virginia is for Stumbles the Revenge where we're going to Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg are you guys excited which I won't be at again unfortunately I love you guys how fun damn it we're all fine
01:19:55
Speaker
But Europe is coming soon.
01:19:57
Speaker
There's a lot to say about that.
01:20:04
Speaker
Less than two months.
01:20:12
Speaker
Scariest thing in the whole podcast is that.
01:20:16
Speaker
But yeah, I'm excited for Big Bad Wolf.
01:20:18
Speaker
It's kind of spooky-ish.
01:20:21
Speaker
Hopefully the theme.
01:20:22
Speaker
Well, I mean, we already know that they're spending more on the theming than they did for Pantheon.
01:20:25
Speaker
So hopefully it turns out nice.
01:20:27
Speaker
And hopefully it's open.
01:20:29
Speaker
And hopefully it's open, yeah.
01:20:30
Speaker
I mean, I heard that they're cycling two trains now.
01:20:34
Speaker
They just gave a date of May and have not specified further.
01:20:38
Speaker
So I feel pretty good about it, but we'll have to wait and see.
01:20:45
Speaker
I'm excited to show you guys around Virginia a little bit.
01:20:49
Speaker
Yeah, we're going to go to the Vale on Friday.
01:20:53
Speaker
And what's that area called again?
01:20:59
Speaker
So that should be fun.
01:21:00
Speaker
Any should be Scott's edition.
01:21:06
Speaker
That's incredible.
01:21:07
Speaker
Changing the itinerary now.
01:21:11
Speaker
Scott Don edition.
01:21:13
Speaker
Scott Don is coming.
01:21:14
Speaker
He wasn't going to, but I talked to him about it for like five minutes and he's like, I just bought a flight.
01:21:23
Speaker
What do we have to do for you, Rafa?
01:21:30
Speaker
He's like, I just had to pay for Epic Universe.
01:21:34
Speaker
So I'm going to have to hold up.
01:21:35
Speaker
I wish I could go.
01:21:36
Speaker
And I have but I have Hollywood Nights the following weekend.
01:21:41
Speaker
Either of you guys doing that?
01:21:43
Speaker
So that'll be good because that is a special event that you can report.
01:21:47
Speaker
And it's your first time.
01:21:49
Speaker
I was there last year.
Closing Remarks and Future Plans
01:21:54
Speaker
That should be a good time.
01:21:57
Speaker
Speaking of the events for the, even though Don Scott is the only one that listens here.
01:22:03
Speaker
If you want to join just so that people know what we're talking about, but the, about these events, we do have a coaster club buzz bars in case you want to sign up so you can be a part of all of this fun stuff that we have going on.

01:22:39
Speaker
Terrogates and all kinds of nonsense.
01:22:41
Speaker
So it'll be great.
01:22:42
Speaker
It'll be a good time.
01:22:46
Speaker
And then we should also, as we're closing plug ourselves.
01:22:49
Speaker
So if you haven't found us yet, we're thrills, chills and spills pod on Instagram, right?
01:22:54
Speaker
So follow us there.
01:22:55
Speaker
We're going to try to be better about posting stories and posts there.
01:23:01
Speaker
We should probably post the repost the spec map when we drop this episode.
01:23:05
Speaker
So that way people can see it while they listen.
01:23:08
Speaker
But yeah, any other closing thoughts?
01:23:14
Speaker
Well, we'll see you guys next month and we'll talk about some epic things and have fun in the meantime.
01:23:27
Speaker
I'm trying to stop it.
