00:00:39
Speaker
War, but like not in a bad way? Question mark?

Guest Introduction and Preferences in Gaming

00:00:45
Speaker
It's something else that's great. That's an opening. so know What up, Wiggles? I like war. ah He does. he's ah But only digitally where we can respawn over and over again yeah and yell at your opponents from across the field with Prox chat.
00:01:05
Speaker
Exactly. The the best kind. How are you doing today, Wiggles? Good. How is Tony today? You know what? I am doing pretty good myself here.

Disney's Investment in Epic Games

00:01:18
Speaker
Are you ready to see what is in store ah in ah this late April of 2026? absolutely Absolutely. Excellent. Well, starting off, kicking off today's episode with our headline of the week, ah Disney and Epic Games. If you guys remember, but Disney invested $1.5 billion dollars into Epic.
00:01:39
Speaker
ah Well, it turns out we're finally actually going to see some of that take place aside from like the Fortnite stuff that they've already obviously done collabs with. Epic Games is developing a new extraction shooter for Disney.
00:01:54
Speaker
There are plans to launch it in November of 2026, according to a new report from Bloomberg. ah This is lu will be the first official game released as part of the $1.5 billion investment.
00:02:06
Speaker
According the site's sources, it's going to be like ArcGraders or pretty similar to ArcGraders in like I don't know, extraction shooter wise.

Star Wars Game Rights Discussion

00:02:15
Speaker
And now it's just a lot of people theorizing what IP or IPs are going to be involved in this.
00:02:21
Speaker
I don't I don't know what IPs they would even use for and like an extraction shooter of all things for Disney. I had to guess and I don't. I am. There's a very low tier guess, but probably Star Wars. I mean, it would make sense. But like the Star Wars is itself like their games department is like,
00:02:42
Speaker
A little. It's like they it's like while it is Disney, it's like they're also kind of doing their own thing with the Star Wars stuff, you know? of. I can't remember. Did Lucas Games get shut down after they Lucasfilm was bought by Disney or not? Because I know like they basically passed off the Star Wars IP back to EA.
00:03:03
Speaker
Yeah, like that's the whole thing with the Star Wars. i mean, yeah well, Fortnite does. Well, Epic does have that because there is Star Wars in Fortnite. It's like, what what is the extent of

GTA 6 Speculations and Humor

00:03:13
Speaker
like the Star Wars stuff with the 1.5 billion deal?
00:03:16
Speaker
Because obviously, like the majority of the game rights are at EA and Ubisoft because, you know, that fucking Outlaws was a Ubisoft title.
00:03:27
Speaker
Yeah, well, I'm wondering if Lucasfilms is maybe expanding the Star Wars IP outward because of some of the the past failures. But that's, again, that's a guess.
00:03:38
Speaker
Yeah, it is only a guess. If I had to take a guess, ah maybe it's... Oh God, I can't even think of what it could be. Look, we could have a Kingdom Hearts extraction shooter.
00:03:50
Speaker
I know. No, no. Square. I don't think. so No, i don't think the Mora would allow that. i the i don't think the Mora would be. I think Square probably pitched it to him.
00:04:02
Speaker
and i don't think the Mora would say yes to that. I think there's a limit to your Mora's brain. i don't not gonna cross that line i look I don't want to i don't want to deep dive into an extraction shooter as fucking Donald Duck just to get some stupid piece of lore that's going to matter in Kingdom Hearts 5.
00:04:24
Speaker
I'm good. I'm good. i was thinking maybe it'll be just like a Mickey mouse fucking, uh, looter shooter. Like it's just Mickey. can go into the red zone and find an extracted fucking, uh, got a fucking house of mouse tokens or whatever.
00:04:44
Speaker
yeah like What rating are they going to give that the the the Mickey Mouse extraction shooter? That's the other thing. like what right what waiting like What kind of rating are we going to is this game get? like Is that going to be a kids game or we going to get a gritty Tarkov Mickey Mouse shooter? who fucking prox With Prox chat.
00:05:02
Speaker
who Everybody has to talk like Mickey Mouse. It'll be programmed in regardless. It would be. If you mic it's just going to be Mickey.
00:05:14
Speaker
You get a Mickey voice. You can choose a voice filter to apply yourself. Mickey, Donald, Goofy. It's only if you get the battle pass out because that's how games work days. Only if you get the battle pass! Oh, God, yeah.
00:05:27
Speaker
That would be

GTA 6 Marketing and Release Timing

00:05:28
Speaker
the case with that. Yeah. you ah Well, we'll be waiting and seeing what the details are with this, and if it even does come out this year, there is a chance it could get delayed.
00:05:38
Speaker
Because, again, we are still I'm still betting that GTA 6 gets delayed again. Because we're in April, and we still haven't seen like any official gameplay, and the game comes out in November.
00:05:52
Speaker
we have't like We have not seen like anything since... but What was the... I also can't remember what the GTA for five released. Didn't they like wait till like very close to the end before they did a gameplay reveal?
00:06:04
Speaker
I honestly don't remember because it's been so long, me but also like that was also like the days of old where things didn't matter that much. This is true. Play reveal trailer. Hold on.
00:06:17
Speaker
The gameplay reveal trailer or the first GTA five trailer

Powerwash Simulator and Square Enix

00:06:23
Speaker
released on November 2nd, 2011. And then, okay, sorry, that was the initial trailer. The release date was 2013, September 17th. According to my one source, I don't know if it's accurate or not, but July 9th, 2013.
00:06:40
Speaker
twenty thirteen Here we go. A long last gameplay trailer. Yeah, July 9th, 2013. So that would be July to September. That's a two-month trailer. window. So if it follows, 6 follows that, then that means we don't, people don't see anything for that game. We're not seeing anything at that game until September. Yeah.
00:07:00
Speaker
That's, ah in today's, like back then, back like 12, 13 years ago, that wasn't too much of a big deal because gaming was in a completely different place than it was today.
00:07:15
Speaker
I think today, now that I mean, also like all the people who play GTA five, highly anticipating

Roblox Age-Based Account Updates

00:07:24
Speaker
GTA six. They want to know now, like they they're just chomping at the bit and they don't like two months until the release is when you're going to hold off.
00:07:33
Speaker
I don't know if that's as a viable strategy anymore. Yeah, don't know if it's going to be a viable strategy to get new players. I think GTA is banking on the fact that they're just going to get all their old buyers back. I think anybody who played GTA V is already sold on GTA VI. I mean, GTA VI is banking on the fact is banking on just being Grand Theft Auto VI. Like, let's be real here. That is what the big thing is. Like, sure, the game is that big and probably doesn't need a trailer or a gameplay trailer right away.
00:08:07
Speaker
But it would be nice. It would. It really would. But yeah, that's ah the GTA six scenario. I still think the game's getting delayed because the game does come out. at the worst possible time for 2026 gaming award season where it can't qualify for, I think like two or three of the five award shows with when it releases.

Bloodborne Film Adaptation

00:08:30
Speaker
So i I think they delay it again. Yeah. It'll be spring 2027. I think spring 27 is the right call for them ah because otherwise you're going to have this year old game.
00:08:48
Speaker
nominated for game of the year, potentially nominated for game of the year next year. And I don't know if it's, it's, it's in a tough spot.
00:08:59
Speaker
And i think we talked about this last time ah you were on as well, which is very, which is a very funny thing that it happens again, but it's a very tough spot that I think GTA six is in.
00:09:11
Speaker
And I think that it needs to just, ah just, just give us one more delay. Or

Echo the Dolphin Remasters

00:09:19
Speaker
show us gameplay at Summer Game Fest, because I think that's a very real thing that we could see as well.
00:09:24
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Summer Game Fest is coming up. It is coming up. ah They did give the dates that, but I don't remember them off the top of my head, but I'll cover that next week. It's fine. Now let's dive into everything else that has happened in the past two weeks. Let's dive into the week in review.
00:09:40
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review. And kicking it off, some of the games that came out these past two weeks, you had Tamadachi Life, Living the Dream, which has taken over my life.
00:09:56
Speaker
I am now a Tamadachi. He's addicted. I'm

Dragon Ball Game Updates

00:10:00
Speaker
addicted. This is not actually a podcast. It's an intervention. I brought the guys. everybody's here except I just hear you guys as your auto-tune voices.
00:10:11
Speaker
Also, Mouse PI for Hire came out. I'm playing through that as well or trying to. ah Pragmata released Vampire Crawlers, a sequel, the the new Vampire Survivors game, except it's deck builder roguelike. and It's pretty cool with what I've seen. Masters of Albion, the new Peter Molyneux game.
00:10:32
Speaker
ah In the world of gaming news, the new Street Fighter movie trailer released. The movie comes to theaters October 16th. Looks cool. i I guess.
00:10:43
Speaker
I feel like it's on the level of like the old Mortal Kombat movie. Just 2026. Yeah, they're really making this one ridiculous, like with how Street Fighter is. So, you know, why at least they're like embracing that ridiculousness.
00:10:57
Speaker
Yeah. So I'll take that. In award season news, Claire Obscure Expedition 33 completed its sweep of all the major Game of the Year's awards with taking the fifth one of bad the BAFTAs.

Legal Issues at Build-A-Rocket Boy

00:11:12
Speaker
Oh my goodness. Who could have seen that coming? Who could have seen it coming? ah Me, from a mile away. and Literally anybody else who played the game and saw the reception that this game got. Yeah, it was pretty obvious. Also in the world of Expedition 33, Charlie Cox has officially stated that he has finally started to play the game.
00:11:35
Speaker
As of an interview that he did with Games Radar, he has, according played up to the end of the prologue or like the first half of the prologue. So he's ah he's casually playing through it. Good for him.

Foxhole Game Experience

00:11:47
Speaker
IO Interactive did confirm that Lana Del Rey is the musical artist behind the theme for the upcoming James Bond game 007 First Light. An official lyric video for Del Rey's First Light is now available on the music streaming platforms.
00:12:03
Speaker
I am like genuinely excited for this ah first light. Like I don't everything I've seen about this game looks very cool. And I have never seen a Bond movie ever in my life. The Bond movies are actually quite good.
00:12:19
Speaker
Little dated, but quite a little dated. Some of them a little dated. Yeah. My only experience with Bond is a Nightfire on the GameCube. That's a good game. It's a good game.
00:12:30
Speaker
cool Good game. one but One of the best multiplayer games on the the console. It is legit. I would say by fire is my generation's golden eye. Yeah. ah Yeah.
00:12:41
Speaker
That's an agreeable statement. So, you know, to actually play something that is actually like very story heavy and like it's being done by the people who did hit man. I'm very excited to play this. It is one of my more anticipated games this year.
00:12:55
Speaker
So I'm genuinely excited to play through that. And experience it because it looks really cool. Blurb, the Twitch streamer, Twitch streamer who made a Skyrim mod that made chat speak for NPCs.
00:13:08
Speaker
ah If you remember that story a year or two ago. Well, he's back because he made a new Skyrim mod where you debate dragons about the current geopolitical climate. And then his chat votes on who wins that debate.
00:13:23
Speaker
And that's how you defeat the dragons. this man or woman or man or a man, this, this, this, that this a man is a menace.
00:13:34
Speaker
It's so funny. It's so funny. The stuff that he's done. oh it's so, so funny.
00:13:44
Speaker
And I love that. This is a fucking mod that he has made. Uh, Crafton is no longer listed as the publisher for Subnautica 2, making the developer Unknown Worlds the sole publisher as well. This is due to the messy legal battle that the game has undertook undertaken with Crafton after the publisher did not want to pay the studio $250 million dollars for hitting certain things and goals and whatnot. And, you know, that whole court battle's been covered here on the podcast in previous episodes. You can go...
00:14:15
Speaker
listen to that to

Warhammer 40K Updates and Games

00:14:16
Speaker
hear the full story there but yeah they've now been taken off it looks like ah things are going good for Unknown Worlds finally and Subnautica 2 I believe is entering early access very soon for everybody wanting to play that should have paid the money crafting you should have developer Future Lab the the creators of Powerwatch Simulator they are removing the Final Fantasy 7 and Tomb Raider themed add-ons late May, I believe.
00:14:47
Speaker
ah The studio made the announcement in a brief blog post, said that the removals coincide with the end of his relationship with Square Enix. They're leaving on good terms. It's not bad terms, folks. It's just that ah they wanted to be a self-publisher.
00:15:00
Speaker
Power Watch Sim was part of like a Square Enix initiative, like a publisher initiative that they got for a couple of indies. ah This was always a plan going forward. They're grateful to Square for the opportunity that they're given, but because obviously they are Square Enix properties, they will be taken off. However, if you have those expansions, because they are free expansions, if you have them, you can still play them in the game after they are removed.
00:15:27
Speaker
You'll still be able to play them, and you can still play them with friends if your friends have them too. So now is a good time to go download Power Watch Simulator 1 and grab those expansions. Sad to see those go. I did play through both of those. ah You get to clean a bunch of stuff in Midgar, ah like the 7th Heaven Bar, ah the Scorpion Sentinel, ah the Clouds Motorcycle, ah replica of Midgar City, and then on the Tomb Raider side, you can clean Lara Croft's Mansion, exterior, interior, the obstacle course that you can do in the tutorial section.
00:16:02
Speaker
bunch of cool things that you can clean. And I just really like the power wash some games. I platinum to both of them because I am crazy like that. I just have an actual power washer. So but why pay money for the game? but You can use your own. Exactly. but In wild drop news, there's a new Borderlands game out.
00:16:22
Speaker
but Borderlands mobile. Mobile gamers aren't real. Yeah, it's ah basically a normal ass Borderlands game that that's just a mobile that's just on phones.
00:16:33
Speaker
ah It's not developed by Gearbox, but by Zynga instead. The game currently appears to be exclusive to Apple devices in the United States and will presumably launch to the rest of the world at some other point.
00:16:46
Speaker
So now we have to go ask tc if the phone he has is an iPhone. Because TC is a big Borderlands fan. Yes, he is. So if he has an iPhone, he can make but I'll maybe ask him if he can play it for us and let us know how it is.
00:17:01
Speaker
In Nintendo news, Nintendo just dropped a free Yoshi game on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices called Hello Yoshi. This is a part of the My Mario toy series. It's a simple touchscreen game where you can pull and stretch Yoshi's face, spin him around, and bounce him across the screen as he yelps and squeals his Yoshi sounds.
00:17:22
Speaker
Also with Nintendo, they did drop two new trailers for two games, our overview trailers. We got an overview for Splatoon Raiders, the new single player Splatoon game.
00:17:34
Speaker
That's all like a horde shooter. And we also got a first look at the the new Yoshi storybook game. In layoff news, just over a year after laying off 66 employees in what the studio said was a last resort effort to enable our long-term survival, Iron Galaxy, the developer of games including Killer Instinct Seasons 2 and 3, Rumbleverse, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4, has announced that it is once again reducing their company size.
00:18:04
Speaker
Unfortunate. Very unfortunate. Though this is probably going to be a trend, I think, over the next year or two for game studios. Yeah, we've been seeing the trend hit, and that is we it's been like... We usually see like one or two studios with layoffs like every...
00:18:24
Speaker
I want to say every like news cycle, I usually see another story about layoffs happening at a studio. I'm like, Jesus, not again. It just keeps happening. Yeah, and it's been a lot in the last couple weeks, too. like There was the but the Epic Games layoffs. Now there's this layoff. That one being the biggest one recently, because it was like over a thousand yeah with that one.
00:18:46
Speaker
like That one was massive. Speaking of massive, Among Us has hit over 1 billion downloads on the Google Play Store. 1 billion.
00:18:58
Speaker
Damn. Kind of sus if you ask me. Sus. I don't know I think that that the creator is just rolling in the the money of a game that he didn't think was going to take off ever.
00:19:10
Speaker
Yeah, that the like yeah ah the team, i mean, the fact that the team for Among Us is also like is like now like striving to like help other indie studios out and other indie projects is great. And hope they continue doing that and keeping that up.
00:19:25
Speaker
In game reveal news, Metro 2039 was officially revealed as the next entry in the series. Woo, more Metro. I've only actually played one of them, but I've lived vicariously through streamers, and I actually quite like the series.
00:19:38
Speaker
Nice. In some Roblox news, Roblox announced that come June, it will be introducing new age-based account categories for kids. The two new account types are Roblox Kids for five to 8-year-olds and Roblox Select for nine to 15-year-olds.
00:19:54
Speaker
Roblox Corporation says the goal for them is to more closely align content access, communication settings, and parental controls with the user's age. And as long as a parent does their due diligence and doesn't just let the kid do it on their own, this should not be an issue.
00:20:10
Speaker
This is actually, I would say, a good step. because it limits access for everything. Now, of course, obviously, there are those fucking sickos online that could just make their own fucking ah five to eight year old account or whatever and get those same access to those servers. But I'm sure that there's also probably a limitation on like chat, chatting in game or like if you can even access like those multiplayer games with certain some of those accounts online.
00:20:39
Speaker
I would hope, but I think for Roblox, it might be a little too late. i Yeah. I mean, like... Yeah, but i will give them this like as long as it keeps them safe, the kids safe, then they're moving in the right direction.
00:20:59
Speaker
Again, though, I feel like a lot of stuff that has happened on their services, it kind of it is very still a little too little too late for in my opinion. yeah In filmmaking news, Bloodborne is getting an R-rated film adaptation being co-produced by YouTuber Jacksepticeye.
00:21:18
Speaker
It's actually super dope. It kind of is. I think the Markiplier film release may have opened up the eyes for people doing movies where they'll bring on people like Jacksepticeye, who's a big, big, big Bloodborne fan and is, ah you know, actually like a very established content creator and Yeah, you know, bring in the ones, bring in the good content creators who care about video games and can tell Hollywood, hey, this is what the people would want to see.
00:21:48
Speaker
i get you'll guess what? You'll get the numbers at the box office. So one of two things is going to happen with this, right? One, it's going to be a good game because Jack is going to keep everybody in line. Like Sean's going to keep everybody in line and the guest come up with a good product.
00:22:05
Speaker
Or he's going to get fed up kind of like Henry Cavill with The Witcher and he's going to leave or you let go. He'll leave and go work on Warhammer. Yeah. yeah Hey, we finally have a follow up to a story that we did a year ago.
00:22:24
Speaker
Echo the Dolphin is getting a brand new, complete, definitive ah collection that includes past games and a brand new contemporary game built for the modern era. Developer A&R Atelier announced Echo the Dolphin Complete, promising a remaster of past games built by the original members of the Echo development team. It took a year.
00:22:48
Speaker
I took a countdown on the site and we talked about it a year ago with our boy, no score, Nick. And it's real. Echo. The dolphin is back in the big 2026. Hey, yo, we love to see that Microsoft.
00:23:05
Speaker
They're in the news because they reverse course on its 50% price hike Xbox games past ultimate that it put into place about six months ago. Now, Under the new Microsoft gaming CEO Asha Sharma, the company has slashed the price of its top tier Game Pass subscription from $29.99 to $22.99 a month.
00:23:25
Speaker
ah However, with this slash of pricing, subscribers are losing day one access to Call of Duty games going forward. So no one no more day one Call of Duty on Game Pass, but you get to save seven bucks.
00:23:41
Speaker
Is that worth it? No. Certainly, Microsoft. you hear hear You've destroyed my heart in so many ways. And I mean, it's 22 bucks a month. I don't like subscription service personally at all.
00:23:57
Speaker
So, I mean, i I use a couple. I actually i use one, I think. And that's ah PS Plus. But that's because I get so many free games ah every month. And the free, I got free, there's some free shit. There's some free perks. And like, for what I pay for the year, I get my money's worth out of it. so Yeah, i'm not going to say it's like not worth it for some people. It's probably worth it for some people. Definitely not worth it for me.
00:24:21
Speaker
The way I do my games. Very fair. But I can rant to about subscription services all day. ah ah The Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour made some announcements for the future of Dragon Ball Games. Starting off, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was announced and the last DLC for Xenoverse 2 will be releasing this summer.
00:24:43
Speaker
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is getting the super limit breaking Neo DLC, adding some new characters, costumes, and super attacks. A new game mode, more stages, and new and more. And also a new survival mode ah in the game is out right now.
00:25:00
Speaker
And also the new fighter in Dragon Ball FighterZ is Goku Super Saiyan 4 from Dragon Ball Daima. ah He was just recently released as well.
00:25:12
Speaker
In cozy game news, the next expansion for Pallia was revealed. The Royal Highlands expansion. This will be adding horses to the game and a whole system for you to like ah breed horses and like a lot more. Launch is for free on May 12th.
00:25:29
Speaker
In what I can describe as Things going awful for a game company whose CEO is absolutely crazy. It is clinically insane. I want to say at this point,
00:25:43
Speaker
Mind's Eye developer Build-A-Rocket Boy is back in the news because they're facing new legal action filed by the Game Workers branch of the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain, the largest game worker union in the UK.
00:25:58
Speaker
The union says the installation of surveillance software and employees' PCs without their knowledge and the company's refusal to disclose the information gleaned from it violates data protection laws and the workforce's basic dignity.
00:26:13
Speaker
Not to mention just a ton of ethical morals.
00:26:19
Speaker
I think, I don't know, like, I'm surprised that they're still around after the disastrous launch of Minds Eye. ah the the The fact that the game hasn't really been fixed, or, like, thes the attempts they've made to fix it haven't worked.
00:26:36
Speaker
And it's just more and more things keep coming out about this studio. ah Whether it's the CEO claiming that it was a conspiracy that stopped the game from doing well.
00:26:51
Speaker
And now this boy, i I have no words. At this point, just shut down. Just shut down. iss Just step away. Just be done. just Have your CEO step down and get a new one, please. And then change your name. and Change your name.
00:27:14
Speaker
Yeah, don't call something the next gta because it doesn't work. It just doesn't work. Yeah. Yeah. ah Hey, speaking of stepping down, ah news I didn't think I'd ever see. ah see see ah Tim Cook is stepping down as Apple CEO in September.
00:27:35
Speaker
ah He has named who will be the replacement and the new head of Apple is hardware engineer engineering senior vice president John Ternus. He will become the new CEO of Apple come September.
00:27:49
Speaker
Be interesting to see what changes there. Yeah, the third ever CEO of Apple, which is crazy to say that it's only you had three CEOs.
00:28:00
Speaker
Yeah. Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. The Elden Ring movie is in the news because it's coming out March 2028, and they also dropped a cast list.
00:28:12
Speaker
ah Included in this cast list, you got Kit Cotter, Ben Whishaw, Peter Seraphina, oh my God, Seraphinalex, Kaylee Spaney, Tom Burke, and Nick Offerman.
00:28:27
Speaker
Curious to who Nick Offerman is going to play. Yeah. ah Especially at Elden Ring stuff because it's like, there's, i don't know. It's a, Elden Ring is one of those. I've tried Elden Ring. I can't, I can't do Souls games, man.
00:28:42
Speaker
I just can't. I like the bad world. I don't like the game because it's hard and I get angry. It's almost like, I don't know if they added like a a difficulty slider in the ability to pause.
00:28:57
Speaker
I might play their game. Just saying. Nah, it's too easy. Clearly. yeah ah Fishing has been added to Rune Scrape Dragon Wilds.
00:29:09
Speaker
ah So another reason to go play that, I guess, if you like fishing, you another game to fishing. In Ubisoft's news, a couple things came up for Ubisoft. First off, For Honor is doing a crossover with Assassin's Creed, adding Naoi and Yasuke from Shadows and Ivor from Valhalla.
00:29:27
Speaker
valhaa as skins to the game. Also, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been officially revealed.
00:29:38
Speaker
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up in the Anvil engine with overhauled visuals, dynamic weather, and an updated combat system that's been reworked into an action-oriented experience. There is still stealth. It is still just like the original game.
00:29:54
Speaker
It is just like all the improvements that like the game has like we we've wanted for the game, basically. New ship officers to recruit with their own stories. New quests and storylines involving Blackbeard and a couple other of the key pirate characters.
00:30:10
Speaker
You can get a cat or a monkey as a pet for the jackdaw. You can crouch anywhere. And the game comes out July 9th. So the question is, ah but i where have you did you play the original AC4 Wiggles? I played a bit of Black Flag, yeah.
00:30:28
Speaker
But I didn't play it because it was an Assassin's Creed game. I played it because it was like the only Pyre game on the market at the time. Well, it looks like we actually might get a good pirate game from Ubisoft again ah with this release. ah So I'm excited for that. I'm excited to to see what will happen. don't know I'll play it right away or not, though, ah just because I have a lot of other things on my p plate, and I do want to go back and play through all the other Assassin's Creed again, especially because they're all available for free on PS Plus.
00:30:57
Speaker
So you want to do that? ah Also, Golf With Your Friends 2 dropped a brand new trailer and will be coming out fall 2026 with Crossplay, a new Chaos Mode and PC level editor.
00:31:11
Speaker
And lastly, a bit of news, Negoshi Studio, the team that gave us the trailer for Gang of Dragon, been in the news because NetEase pulled their funding.
00:31:23
Speaker
Well, I don't think it's looking good, folks, because they've officially deleted their YouTube channel. And i think a lot of fans are believing that closure is imminent and the Goshi studio will not last much longer.
00:31:40
Speaker
And Gaga dragon will cease to exist and we'll never know what a Goshi game that isn't backed by RGG would look like.
00:31:54
Speaker
Big sad. That's unfortunate. Moving on to ongoing game news, starting off with Final Fantasy 14. First, I have to say this.
00:32:05
Speaker
I will not be talking about anything from FanFest because we are recording this the day before FanFest. So the new expansion that gets released, you'll have to hear about it next time because they're probably going to tease the new expansion.
00:32:24
Speaker
So what we will tell you is everything coming to 7.5 starting on April 28th. ah We are getting the new Dodge Rail Capstone Allied Society Quest, Inconceivably Further Hildebrand Adventures, the new custom delivery for T-Solja,
00:32:39
Speaker
PvP Series 11 in a new crystalline conflict arena, Archaea Harmonious. The Clidium, the new dungeon. Echoes of Vanadeel Part 3, Winders, Third Walk.
00:32:49
Speaker
ah We also got to see a boss fight. It's Shantado, of course. Enuo is the new Trial. Shinryu's Domain is the new Unreal. ah The final steps for the Phantom Weapons are going to be there.
00:33:02
Speaker
And they also, they teased... What people are theorizing is the new ultimate being Kefka from FF6, which would be really cool.
00:33:14
Speaker
ah But we won't actually know for real until FanFest. So another thing that I won't be able to fill in until next time. The new Occult Crescent North Horn as well will be out of the new zone.
00:33:27
Speaker
And Beastmaster was talked about a bit. This will be releasing sometime in the 7.5X series, not directly on the 28th. It'll be one of the patch, future patches that it's added.
00:33:40
Speaker
it has a level 50 cap. It's a melee DPS. To unlock it, you need to have a level 50 job and Dawn Trail. There are 50 beasts to capture as of the first as of its release.
00:33:52
Speaker
ah The side content for it like how Blue Mage has the Blue Carnival, you have the Crucible of the Unbroken. You have to gauge the monster, weaken it, and then catch it.
00:34:05
Speaker
You assign up to three beasts to a battle horn to use their abilities. Beasts have four actions, a finisher, a trick, a tempered release, and a nature's gift. ah You can see all of that in, um like, basically people have already made, like, overview guides ah with what's what they've done. But Yoshi P did say that when the patch for the upcoming ah release of Beastmaster will happen, but they will have a ah on live stream to talk about it in more detail.
00:34:34
Speaker
The new cosmic exploration area is Oxetia. There will be a gold saucer update, but they said that they won't give us details until FanFest. So another thing that we'll be covering next time.
00:34:46
Speaker
ah The housing update will have increased furnishing limits and interior fixture designs. The new die system is getting implemented, giving us basically only three types of dies, but then like every color accessible is just the type of die that you have.
00:35:01
Speaker
Sightseeing log improvements, glamour updates, all the dungeon gear from 3.0 onward can be stored as outfit glamours. More convenient crafting with the crafting log open. Chocobo companions are getting an update with new animations and reactions to emotes.
00:35:16
Speaker
Two new UI colors with clear pink and gray clear gray. The new mounts. We're getting an Omega's fist mount, the NUO wings, a toucan,
00:35:30
Speaker
a standing platypus thing. And then the big, if you collect all the wings from the Dawn Trail EXs, you can get the wings of Legacy, ah which is a big fancy reward. And also, it looks like we're getting a new mount for finishing the Hildebrand storyline. We're getting a Hardy Boyle's Bike.
00:35:52
Speaker
which is pretty cool. And also U S and Canada are getting a final fantasy 14 Jolly B collaboration where you can order the final fantasy 14 meal.
00:36:03
Speaker
It starts April 21st and you can get the eat chicken emote with a code. I'm going to have to go get that email. but Same here. In TCG news, starting with Pokemon, Mega Evolution Chaos Rising releases May 22nd.
00:36:20
Speaker
In TCG Pocket News, Pulsing Aura, the new ah set there, drops April 28th. In Yu-Gi-Oh! Chaos Origins drops June 5th, and Battles of Legends Glorious Gallery on June 5th as well.
00:36:33
Speaker
Imagine the Gathering Secrets of Strixhaven is out now. Marvel Super Heroes comes out in June 26th. The Hobbit releases August 14th. Reality Fracture on October 2nd. And Star Trek on November 20th.
00:36:47
Speaker
In Lorcanna Retail releases, Wilds Unknown drops on May 15th. And then Attack of the Vines comes out here quarter three. And Cocoa Moore in quarter four. And then the Digimon DCG Dual Revolution ah releases May 15th, and the Data Squad and Beat Break Starter Decks release May 15th as well.
00:37:06
Speaker
And that's everything in the week in review. Any final thoughts on any of the stories there, Wiggles? That was a lot.
00:37:16
Speaker
I think the only comment i was going to make is FFXIV. I'm like, disregard, I'm still stuck in post-Heavensward. ha ha ha. It's not stuck. He's just chose chosen to stay there. that Stuck until I finish some recording.
00:37:34
Speaker

If you're in his disc, if you're in the Slutty Game Discord, he did say that the game may get delayed a little bit because he was experiencing some, he was running into some issues getting the game certified with the Xbox and Steam peoples, ah his own words. So it may release a little later, but as of now, it's still planned to come out on the 30th in early access on the Series X and PC.
00:39:35
Speaker
Strange Antiquities comes to the PS5, Series X, and PS4. 00:40:23
Speaker
Or two weeks in games, I should say. As for the big releases, I know that there's a couple people in the game lounge that are excited for Far, Far West ah because the demo, they were playing the demo and had a lot of good things to say about it.
00:40:42
Speaker
So I know that's a big deal for a couple. ah As for some other big releases, Slending Game is one of my is my big release here.
00:40:53
Speaker
ah Very excited to see the full version of hopefully release on the 30th. If it does, I'll be streaming it all day with the Game Ones crew ah because I just have a lot of fun in that game.
00:41:06
Speaker
ah Invincible Versus, the new fighting game with starring Invincible. Insert sound effect here.
00:41:15
Speaker
i still haven't seen that show.
00:41:19
Speaker
I've heard a lot of good things about it. I have not seen a single episode of it. Like we're talking about the show based on the comic series. Invincible. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. It's getting a fighting game.
00:41:31
Speaker
Oh, Dennis Disco. That's another big release that I am excited for. I played the demo for that. It it is a very fun rhythm game. ah very, very fun. You get to fight people to the rhythm and it's very, very well done. Very reminiscent of Hi-Fi Rush.
00:41:48
Speaker
Oh, that's kind of dope. Yeah. the and I'm very excited for that. And Mixtape. I've seen a lot of... I'm interested in Mixtape when it does release ah because it is a new thing that Annapurna has been working on or being published by Annapurna.
00:42:04
Speaker
And a lot of the games that they publish are really cool, so... Might check out mixtape. ah Might not. Any games here interesting you interesting in for you, Wiggles? no I've been bad, so i haven't really been keeping up with like the latest things that have been coming out.
00:42:20
Speaker
I know Mellow has talked about Far, Far West. So that could be fun. And then everybody's raving about this sledding game that I haven't played yet. Have you not played it with us yet? No, I haven't. I've always been gone or busy.
00:42:36
Speaker
Oh, you guys join us, man. Unless you're gone or busy on the third on this upcoming Thursday. ah Probably not good because we got to get you. I should be fine on Thursday.
00:42:47
Speaker
Oh, as long as the game comes out, because again, there is a chance it doesn't come out on the first on the Thursday. Yeah, after that, I could be but busy again because work season is probably going kick off after that. Oh, yeah. Back to the. I'm out of money. I need some.
00:43:04
Speaker
yeah Fair. All right. Well, with that, it's now time for us to dive into our main focus. Here is what we're talking about this week in the Game Lounge.
00:43:15
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers, and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And our first topic of the day, Wiggles has been in the foxhole.
00:43:31
Speaker
Literally. Uh... I'm only a little addicted. I definitely don't have 302 hours and I've only been playing this game for, I don't know, less than a month.
00:43:47
Speaker
300 hours and less than a month? Jesus Christ, Wiggles! Yeah. You sounded like me when I was playing FFXIV. Yeah.
00:43:58
Speaker
who Okay, let's start off. What is Foxhole? So Foxhole is a kind of an asymmetrical top-down-ish view. I don't know what the the actual term is. TC told it to me, and I've already forgotten.
00:44:13
Speaker
that um War game. It's a very logistical-based strategy war game. um you you You play as your dude, you build things, or you go fight things. um Every bullet, bomb, vehicle,
00:44:29
Speaker
Building, bunker, all has to be built, and the material either has to be extracted or refined in order to build said buildings, bombs, or vehicles.
00:44:40
Speaker
So it is a very logistical heavy game, and it's MMO, obviously. So you've got your two teams. You've got the Colonials. You've the Wardens. Everybody on each team kind of comes together to fight war.
00:44:55
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. And what's what's the the main goal of the game? To win the war? Yeah, so to win the war, each war lasts weeks to months, IRL.
00:45:09
Speaker
And your objectives are um each hex has a victory point, and it's whoever has the most victory points wins. so Right now, it's set at 32. You hit 32 victory points, you win you win war.
00:45:23
Speaker
Oh, not easy. and No, it is not easy. ah Takes a lot of work, which is why the wars last months. I think right now, casualties in our war, and it's only been going on for about a month, they're at 2 million.
00:45:38
Speaker
Oh, my God. i do What war number is this for you in the time you've been playing? This has to be my second war. I joined late in the the, so there's two shards. there's one called Abel, one called Charlie.
00:45:52
Speaker
Me and the group of guys that I've been playing with joined the Charlie War kind of late into the war. ah So that's kind of how we learned the game for those that needed to refresh and me who just started playing it.
00:46:05
Speaker
um I have joined my second war in the Abel Shard, which is the more populated shard. I joined that basically right at the beginning, and I've been doing... I've been running an oil refinery in the back line. That's what I've been doing. Ah, so, so what is the gameplay loop for you? What is this? What is the gameplay loop for you? What does it look like? Walk us through.
00:46:27
Speaker
every meticulous detail that this real-life war sim gives us. All right, so for a Wiggles, who logs into the game on any given day, I log in, I pick up a radio, so I get map intelligence on my island, and then I immediately go over to the island next door and might scrap forever because my facility is expensive to maintain.
00:46:52
Speaker
What this game, I think the biggest thing like that's attracted to me of this game is one, it's... big team oriented and it just ticks off a lot of gaming boxes that I just haven't seen in a single game in a while. So you got, you got your frontline fighting. You can just jump in, pick up a rifle or whatever. You can go in, team up with some people and go fight on the front lines.
00:47:16
Speaker
you can do sneaky partisan stuff where you grab some material with a team, go into the back line and just harass the enemy, disrupt like logistics. You can just base build if that's what you're into. You can just be a builder, whether it's on the front lines or the back lines. You grab some material and you just go build things as you want. What I'm doing right now is I just wanted to set up a big fuel supply line for a team because in the Charlie war, that was kind of an issue. Not so much of an issue in this one. Much bigger population.
00:47:48
Speaker
And the war is much farther away from me from when we started now. But I just wanted to make a big fuel facility. So I, what in game would be known as like a factory LARPer.
00:48:02
Speaker
So I just run a factory. That's a great term. Ah, why are you playing this game? Well, I wanted to run a factory.
00:48:15
Speaker
Yeah, so. You know, war simulator game. Yeah. Yeah, so it's like, it's, I would say it's a simple, if you like satisfactory or factorio, but you also want to fight in and like a 1914 or like early World War II-esque game, that this is a game for you.
00:48:33
Speaker
ah um so what So what are exactly all the elements that ah you said checked off the boxes? What exactly are ah are are all those things that they that checked off? for The thing is basically it's just everything I said. Because if I want to do something in any given day, in the same game, I can. So I can go, you know, deal with my factory.
00:48:54
Speaker
I can go do some like frontline shipment stuff. And then I can go fight war. And I can pick and choose kind of what I want to do. that nice and then there's kind of just variety of things that you can do and then the biggest thing for me is ah I made the comment a while ago I'm like this this game has brought back my faith in humanity because everybody's actually works together for the most part in the game on your team that that's good at least it's got a dedicated player base like that yeah for the most part we'll get back into the player base here soon um who ah roughly how big is the player base right now
00:49:31
Speaker
At peak times, you're looking anywhere from like 28 to 3,200 people. That's not too bad. It's not too bad. Peak Fox, which the light its peak number was when the last update released, which was 17,000 online at one given time. Wow. This is, yeah.
00:49:49
Speaker
Numbers don't sound big for player base, but this is a small indie game. Yeah, that that is the other thing. but This is a small indie game. it's do It's doing all of that. Yeah. so which is yeah We'll get to the player base drop here in a bit. they so There's a bit to that, but the community is really, really good. I mean, there's obviously some shitheads like every community, but... Yeah, obviously. for For the most part, everyone works together. Unlike a lot of other games that I play, everybody either kind of just sticks with their their little clique.
00:50:21
Speaker
Or they just don't work together at all. And it's horrible. Yeah, that's that is usually what you get with MMOs. Yeah.
00:50:36
Speaker
So it's been a nice change of pace in that regard. Nice. but but but When you tell your boys you're going to go raiding in your MMO, except it's not, you're not playing a traditional MMO. You're just going to go raid some fucking building in the war. We're going to go raid some other people make their day terrible and not some NPCs.
00:51:00
Speaker
Oof. ah So you said that there's a... When you told me you wanted to talk about you said that there is a new update for the game that came out? yeah so what was the exact date here?
00:51:15
Speaker
Yeah, I guess the first question, how new is this update? This update is like within the last like two months. i want to say it came out sometime the beginning of March. Just looking for the community hub thing here that had my note on it.
00:51:31
Speaker
Airborne update. February 9th. So it came out in February. Oh, okay. So that was like the peak player time that happened. Most players online at one given time since the game came out in 2022. Oh, this game's been around for a bit then. Four years. Yeah.
00:51:48
Speaker
And it's had a pretty steady player base till now. ah This last update was the Airborne update. They introduced Aircraft. into the game. nice. ah Which has added a very unique and horrifying and kind of unbalanced ah state of the game.
00:52:06
Speaker
Oh, okay. Yeah. So,
00:52:13
Speaker
how How unbalanced? like not i wouldn't like as Some people complain about it a lot more than I think I do, but I also get where they're coming from. So the early planes and whatnot aren't bad.
00:52:26
Speaker
I would say they're particularly balanced. um There's some weird bugs and stuff that happens with planes in general from time to time that really need to get worked out, especially when you're like transferring hexes.
00:52:38
Speaker
From what I've heard, I'm an just to give a little context on hexes, since it's a big open map type thing, each kind of region is a hexagon that loads a different like server area. So you're not like, not everything's happening at like one server base. Gotcha. Gotcha.
00:52:58
Speaker
So each hex is like, yeah, it's its own instance. Got how big is a hex roughly? It's kind of hard to quantify. They're not small. but Okay.
00:53:10
Speaker
Yeah, no. ah ah Hexes are relatively large. I would say... Probably a couple kilometers in game measurements per hex across each one. Okay, okay.
00:53:24
Speaker
That's not bad. But the problem with planes is they made the Navy update like back in the day. Kind of... ah Oh, crap. I've already forgotten the word. Basically null and void because...
00:53:38
Speaker
Two dive bombers can take out a large ship. And if you've played the game, you know it takes fucking forever to build ships, especially the big ones. It takes, so like when I say everything needs to be built, everything needs to be built.
00:53:52
Speaker
Everything. So you can build a tank if you want. can build a tank if you want. Tanks are pretty easy to make. Making frigates and upgrading battleships and stuff takes fucking forever. Yeah.
00:54:06
Speaker
And assuming it takes less to build a plane than to build a frigate. Oh, yeah, planes are The fact that two of these motherfucking planes could take out one of these big-ass ships.
00:54:19
Speaker
Yeah, and I think that thats a lot of the people that do, like, Navy LARPing ah got really turned off because if ah my battleship could be taken out basically by two aircraft, then...
00:54:33
Speaker
What's the point of even trying to build it? Because the amount of time it takes to build is significant, and it usually takes teams of people to build them because of the resource gathering you need to do. Ugh. That's... ah ah Okay, yeah. that was that That's rough. So there's been a lot of disparity about the cost balance between things and strengths and damage models and...
00:55:02
Speaker
It's been been a little rough. don't ask like that's a whole yeah I don't experience the Navy stuff very often because I don't do that kind of thing or haven't participated in that. So I haven't seen that.
00:55:15
Speaker
You're also just like alone on an island like a hermit. Kind of. When I was doing the Charlie War, I was always on anti-partisan because we were pretty much front line. So I got really annoyed a lot of the time because three guys with some wrenches and a couple of explosives could ruin your fucking day.
00:55:35
Speaker
Ooh. So, and then even recent more recently, I think it was like first, when we first started the Charlie war, I was just maintaining one of the factories on one of the islands and we got attacked by two partisans or three, three, three, three partisans from the other team.
00:55:50
Speaker
They had a submachine gun and they had like six havoc charges, which are just basically big anti-structure explosives. And they blew the foundations for the factory and everything in about five minutes, which,
00:56:05
Speaker
kind of hurt my soul because it took me like two days to rebuild everything. Oh. but So in terms of player burnout, which is why we're seeing a population drop right now, I get it.
00:56:17
Speaker
I think some of the the balancing, even in regards to buildings and anti-partisan things, is putting her kind of cloud over everybody. And I think they did try to do, the devs tried to do one kind of thing to slow down partisans, is they can no longer access enemy cranes.
00:56:36
Speaker
So you can't just steal all your vehicles and shit with a crane and a boat. um And a lot of people got mad at that. And I thought that was actually a good thing because like, goddamn, you have like three or four people come in to steal a few vehicles. You can steal like 20 vehicles if you're if you're sneaky enough with a crane and a couple of ships.
00:56:56
Speaker
that is That's the heist of all time. We're going to go steal like 20 cars or something. i don't know. Oh, yeah. Well, no, that's... I kind of made a point of proving on like how easy it is to be an annoying partisan because I snuck across enemy lines I stole one of their planes.
00:57:14
Speaker
oh nice. It was just me, a motorboat, and a wrench. Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho.
00:57:21
Speaker
That's a sentence of like, ah, like that's ah like, this is a war game. It's all you got to build all of this like super realistic. Yeah, yeah I stole plane with just three things. Yeah, I snuck into a base that they were kind of decayed because they were getting bombed constantly. So like some of the the AI defenses were we're down. So i was able to sneak in But yeah, i just I just I just stole a plane with a wrench and because I was bored. Yeah.
00:57:49
Speaker
Because I was born in high school. So think they need to do I think there's still a little bit of work that needs to be done on kind of tame of the partisans type thing. But ah in terms of like the aircraft, that's really turned people off because of the amount of damage and you do, especially the ships. And then when the heavy bombers start to play, which is a late game tech, it's got to research everything, too, on top of like building everything.
00:58:20
Speaker
So heavy bombers, as soon as that comes out, it's just a race to who gets heavy bombers first wins the war, essentially. Jesus. ah yeah You said to win a widow war, you got to get the victory point in 32 hexes. How do you get one of these victory points? um I think the only way to get victory points is to capturing the town bases.
00:58:44
Speaker
So to capture the town base, we just got to destroy everything that's in front of it. You gotta destroy the enemy's handbase and then rebuild it yourself. Oh, gotcha.
00:58:56
Speaker
Okay. oh it's So like it's like that. Yeah, and I'm not sure if the point applies. I should pay more attention to this, but... It's been hard to tell if the the point applies as soon as you capture the town base or if you capture all the ah the region and the hexes. I think it's when you capture the town base.
00:59:14
Speaker
Gotcha. Okay, so it's ah so it's... That was funny. It's like, i of course, Wiggle. oh it's like i saw you would I don't know. I've been too busy in my factory. I'm in my factory, man. I don't get out very often.
00:59:30
Speaker
It's a big it's a big so bay factory. I've LARPed too close to the sun with this one. easily Yeah. ah i so like you've You put in 300 hours in less than a month in this game. You've gotten TC to play this game to help you with your mining.
00:59:51
Speaker
I say scrooping lot. It's just another way of like saying we're gathering scrapper resources. ah he he He's my scrooper and my like vehicle builder.
01:00:03
Speaker
How much like how long do you think you're still going to continue to play this game with everybody else who's been experiencing this burnout in the community?
01:00:14
Speaker
How long do you think it's going take you before you feel that burnout? Oh, I've already been feeling the burnout. So I've taken a bit of a break this week. Like I've logged on a little bit just to keep the factory maintained, but I haven't done too too much. um TC and I think what is it?
01:00:26
Speaker
not yesterday, but the day before, we just like rebuilt the vehicles that despawned on us because to keep the hexes and stuff clean, vehicles have like a timer on it if you don't interact with it in a certain amount of time.
01:00:39
Speaker
i gotcha. Okay. um So I haven't done too much, and I'm getting like other people's burnout on stuff because ah it's it's kind of intense. This game takes a lot of time if you want to do certain things.
01:00:52
Speaker
If you're doing more than just like jumping in and joining the front line. Yeah, definitely seems that way. So, and then being backline too, it it can get kind of boring because you don't really engage with an enemy every once in a while, though I did get to see the remnants of a partisan the other day, which kind of brought a, know, okay, i actually have to pay attention. I actually come in here this time.
01:01:20
Speaker
It's like, oh, ah it's something to do. That isn't my daily thing that I'm doing. Yeah. But in terms, I will probably keep playing this game. I'm going to tone it down, especially once I go back to work. I'm going to have to.
01:01:35
Speaker
Yeah. um But I probably won't factory LARP next war. i will probably do. If I'm going to do any kind of lodgy, it'll be like running ships or trucks or something to the front lines for people.
01:01:51
Speaker
Okay. b Being the delivery man.
01:01:55
Speaker
And how far in is this current war in game?
01:02:00
Speaker
Oh, that's a good question. ah We didn't join it like right, right at the beginning. We joined it. think was like a week in.
01:02:10
Speaker
I want to say we're a about a month in.
01:02:21
Speaker
I don't have a date off the top of my head, unfortunately. I'm kind of scrounging to see what the Discord said again.
01:02:30
Speaker
it
01:02:37
Speaker
in updates? No, that's the developer. Shining War. do to do to do Able started on March twenty six
01:02:48
Speaker
Okay, yeah, so it's almost a good one. Okay.
01:02:54
Speaker
And how much longer do you think this war has? i don't think this war is going last very much longer. may Maybe a week, maybe a little more if player base kind of keeps dwindling a little bit.
01:03:09
Speaker
Do you think there's a aside from like obviously a a massive update? What do you think the devs can do to help get bring their player base up? Well, they're gonna have to do oh a big kind of hot fix patchwork and rebalancing and stuff. um They actually came out ah was the last week.
01:03:30
Speaker
with ah kind of a development update about the negativity. Because if you go to the Steam page right now, it's mostly negative reviews throughout the board. Yeah, this last update was hit pretty hard. the There's a lot of things that I think they need to work on. But yeah, basically, it's just that they're kind of disheartened about the negativity, but they're always looking to rebuild. um They did a small hotfix with some limited changes, but they're going to kind of go back to the drawing board.
01:03:59
Speaker
here kind of as this war ends and do a bigger update i think they said it was going to be coming two to three weeks from now is when they want to have it kind of cleaned up okay that's not too bad yeah So looking looking at mid-May for for a big update. Let's see if they can do things. I think the devs are really trying. like There's a lot of people who will criticize the devs, saying they're not doing enough or not trying. I think these devs, like they're still a small team, so I'm giving them that leeway. Yeah, I was going to say, with this being an indie game, I'm assuming it's a pretty small team.
01:04:36
Speaker
ah And for a game this big... I think they do have like a relatively good-sized team. Okay. ah But it's not nothing like any of the bigger games.
01:04:48
Speaker
ah Yeah, obviously. It's not like AAA size or anything.
01:04:56
Speaker
I don't know the numbers for there the dev teams, but I don't think it's like overly huge. um But I think they are really trying. um Well, trying to maintain like the the balance of like community feedback and like what they can actually do in the game.
01:05:11
Speaker
Okay. ah Last thing I'll ask you about Foxhole. What would you say to people who might be interested in this game if this is something in the real house? What would you say to bring to bring them in? what was What is the Wiggles word of the day to help that people get into Foxhole that might be interested? Hmm.
01:05:33
Speaker
That's a because there's so much there's so much you can do. you can do so many different things, ah whether it's like running a flame tank to the front lines and torching your enemies out of a ah bunker, running friggin armored train with artillery mounted to it, being on a battleship crew with 30 other people, raiding an enemy port. Like there's there's so many things. Or if you just like building stuff in the back line, just go build.
01:06:00
Speaker
It's very open-ended game, which I love. And if you love that kind of open-endedness and, you know, have some creativity or just want to be silly with your friends, I think this is a good game to do it.
01:06:12
Speaker
Also, I need more men. Sign up now and join Wiggles' fleet of scrupers. Yes, please. said dudes so yeah said dudes don't you mean said dudes no I'm in war said dudes in a fight i'm in war said dudes All right. Well, that's Foxhole for you, folks. If Wiggles didn't sell you on it, ah maybe wait for the next stop update. Maybe that'll sell you on it. Who knows?
01:06:46
Speaker
Time travel is a weird phenomenon that only Michael J. Fox and those that play insert map game here experience. Need time to disappear? Don't worry.
01:06:57
Speaker
That new colony you established needs a lot of work. Oh, a minor faction that should be easy to fight? This war should be really quick. Oh, shit. Is that the sun?
01:07:08
Speaker
Map Games. One minute, it's the early evening. The next minute, the sun has risen and you have three missed calls from your boss. Moving on to our second topic of the day.
01:07:19
Speaker
We're talking a thing that I know very little about aside from very basic things. Warhammer 40k. am scrub when it comes to this shit.
01:07:32
Speaker
Wiggles, he's an expert when it comes to this shit. All right. Okay. So there's a lot of new things. And now we're going to learn all about the, no, we're not here to learn about all the lore. We're going to save that for when my boy Preston comes back to YouTube again.
01:07:51
Speaker
And I get dragged into a, Hey, you ready to learn everything about Warhammer?
01:07:57
Speaker
um But there's some new games, new game plans, new stuff in the works of Warhammer. What's currently new in Warhammer 40K right now, Wiggles? All right. So, yeah, Games Workshop. um Without getting into all the lore and stuff, there will be a little bit of lore talk, Tony. I'm sorry. Yes. ah Yeah. yeah that I feel like it's inevitable with four hammer 40 K is that war will be brought up whether you like it or not. We brought up because it's actually in context to kind of the biggest thing that's coming out right away in June.
01:08:25
Speaker
ah Games Workshop is doing a lot. This is kind of a big year for them ah just in terms of content, because on June this year, the 11th edition tabletop codex comes out. So the 11th version of the tabletop game releases.
01:08:40
Speaker
That's which big news. when I guess my first question is when when did the 10th edition come out? and like What's like the time period between editions coming out, I guess? Because like obviously with D&D, we're now in like the 5.5 era. It's officially been named that after like people were sick of calling it New 5e. It's now. codexes?
01:09:06
Speaker
what how long is the the like the time period between codexes I will bring up an actual date for you. It's been a while. Yeah, 2023. It's been about three years. Three years, that's actually... Which actually was short compared to the 9th edition.
01:09:25
Speaker
Yeah, it's actually not that bad. A three-year gap? A three-year spin? they've been doing an... An additional update for every three years for the last couple ones.
01:09:39
Speaker
yeah's actually That's not too bad, actually. Every three years, which, ah yeah, and not not too bad. But if for the constant changing lore that is Warhammer, I think it's probably a little short. ah Maybe not for codec, like actual game role changes, because with the with each codex comes a bunch of game role changes.
01:09:58
Speaker
Yeah. and are there any do you guys is there' like What are some of the... but Has like anything been like teased or revealed to be in a new codex, like for changes, or is it like, we don't know until date it comes out. So I don't actually play the tabletop game. So I don't know about rule set changes. I think those might not be, you'd have to dig into it. I'm going to the speculation of the Reddit threads, but not, you probably won't see much from games for a until release date, but they have released what's coming in terms of lore.
01:10:30
Speaker
So if anybody knows who Commissar Yarek is, he's not dead. He's back. And he has a new model. And he has a kind of a temporal set for 10th edition. So you can actually play him and in games right now.
01:10:44
Speaker
And in non-Warhammer speak, folks, it means that his VTuber did not graduate. He just went on hiatus. No, he was... There was a... but
01:10:56
Speaker
No, he was fighting a big, bad orc man. and And then just nothing happened. He kind of disappeared and then nobody wrote anything about it. And it was left open ended for a while. And I think Games Workshop did that intentionally because of speculation.
01:11:11
Speaker
Oh, okay. So, um and then there was a bunch of like rumors and stuff of what happened to him. And I think i mentioned, we're going to talk about like player expectation and fan theories later on. This is what's kind of leading into that.
01:11:23
Speaker
um Cause there was a big rumor mill going on about like what happened to this particular character. But okay like he's getting a new model. ah There's three opening up the by new by by new model. Do you mean like new like ah like your model like for the tabletop game or like models? yeah yeah ah Yeah. Super expensive plastic minis.
01:11:46
Speaker
Gotcha. There's a bunch of other ones that are also coming out along with him.
01:11:53
Speaker
of Which is exciting. We get to build more things. And for all you Drukhari lovers, you don't because they're disregarding you again.
01:12:03
Speaker
Drukhari is another faction. You know the Eldar. They're the dark Eldar. are Are the Eldar elves? Yeah, space elves.
01:12:17
Speaker
Okay, space elves. Super advanced space elves. Okay. Gotcha. I'm trying to keep your lore limited, but always. content There's going to be a lot of that, folks. There's going to be a lot of me raising my hand, asking like a preschooler, what's that space marine? know what that is you should i know what that is that is. I know what that is, guys, because there's there's been two whole games about them. Frickin' ultramarine Smurf poster boys of Warhammer forty k
01:12:48
Speaker
Yeah, I know those. Everything else, I'm very... we like I might know a term. I know that there's the Vermintide and the Vermintide 2. And that's Warhammer Fantasy.
01:13:00
Speaker
wait what do you Wait, that's a different... What do you... What what what wait wait what if why what do you mean that's... Yeah, that's Warhammer Fantasy, which I think there's some stuff going on, too, because Age of Sigmar is done, but I haven't looked too deep into that. Wait, so Warhammer 40K is different. from there's to all they're not even in the Oh! yeah They're not even in the same universe.
01:13:23
Speaker
so oh yeah the I didn't know that. I didn't realize Warhammer. Oh, God. everything ever Oh, no I just broke Tony's brain with Warhammer lore. There's Warhammer lores.
01:13:39
Speaker
Is it just two, or is there more that I'm aware of? There's only two that I'm aware of. Okay, so there's Warhammer Fantasy. Yeah. And that's the Vermintide stuff. Does that have it its own tabletop version then? ah Yeah, yeah. ah the Kind of the latest addition to that was Age of Sigmar, if you hear the Warhammer. Sigmar these nuts. Yeah, I'm not big into the Warhammer Fantasy. I don't look into too much of it because Warhammer 40k is probably more than enough in terms of everything.
01:14:13
Speaker
Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay, okay. So I can't explain much about Warhammer Fantasy except that they have a rat faction which is really fun to play as. So is Dark... So I know of the Vermint... So is Darktide or is that also fantasy? Darktide is 40k.
01:14:29
Speaker
Okay, so Darktide is the 40k version of the... Okay. Okay, that makes so much more sense now of all of that. Okay. I get it now. Yeah. Okay.
01:14:42
Speaker
who I just thought Warhammer was just like a generic thing. I'm just like, oh yeah, Warhammer It's just, no, it's, it's, I had no clue. Yeah, Warhammer, Warhammer's big. It's so big. It's so like, and that's, like, it's so daunting to me as just like an outsider. I was like, I see Warhammer, any, anything. I'm just like,
01:15:04
Speaker
That's imposing as fuck. I am not touching that. Yeah. And I think like for me in terms of like Warhammer fandom, I like the video games. I like some of the yeah books. I like the lore diving.
01:15:18
Speaker
I'm not big into I do paint some minis and build some minis. I'm really bad at it. So I never show them off. ah But I don't care if I'm a tabletop Yeah. Yeah, it's like expensive to do the tabletop game because it's like you need like a whole army of miniatures. and they're not cheap.
01:15:36
Speaker
Yeah, workshop really needs to you really should work on their pricing. yeah Yeah, I will agree with you there. It's like it's not cheap yet. You want people to play the tabletop version, but it's like it's it really you need how many minis as like how how many minis? going to Google this right now, actually, because I am genuinely curious. ah You don't need to do like a full army combat all the time. A lot of people do like skirmishes where they just like have squadrons.
01:16:05
Speaker
A standard 2000 point Warhammer 40k army typically contains between 30 to 100 plus miniatures depending on the faction and unit types chosen.
01:16:17
Speaker
Elite armies like Adeptus Custodes may have fewer than 20 models while Horde armies like Tyranids or Orcs orks in a cave oh i didn't know but like that can exceed 100 plus models.
01:16:31
Speaker
Small Combat Patrol games feature 15 to 30. Yeah. I've only really ever played small combat bat patrol game games. haven't done that a long time either. i I feel like I should just, have I feel like we could, I feel like you and Preston could sit, we could make a video where it's a fucking like,
01:16:54
Speaker
I don't know. We rent a classroom somewhere and I'm there at the only desk with a notebook and pen ready to learn. And you'll teach me everything there is about Warhammer 40k. Because this shit is this people say Kingdom Hearts is confusing. I'm looking at this like what the fuck do you mean? Kingdom Hearts is a joke compared to this.
01:17:17
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's ah that's a semester-long course just to get through That's a semester-long course? Why aren't they offering this in school? Just to get through the Horus heresy.
01:17:30
Speaker
What?
01:17:33
Speaker
TLDR, it was the big event that made made made things the way they are in Warhammer. Oh, gotcha. It was... just it was it was it's Okay, gotcha. Big civil war. Big bad things happened. like Yeah. Yeah.
01:17:47
Speaker
Gotcha. Uh, okay. So the new codex is coming out. Yes. What else is coming out for Warhammer? Cause, uh, I mean, I, we, we talked about last episode, but, uh, steam. Oh, I heard him. I heard a million. Yeah. That's a million. She's locked in the office with me. So the rental people, uh, keep doing their things. Uh, for those who don't know that I'm doing rentals on my house at the same time. So if you hear weird noises, at the background, I'm by Mike, I'm sorry.
01:18:11
Speaker
It's fine. We, we stand million this on this podcast. Um, Last week, ah we reported that Steam added, I think, like 20-something games to their library all of old Warhammer 40K games. Yeah, so they've been doing like big marketing pushes like that ah because this year they also have a bunch of or a few new games. I won't say a bunch of new games, but there's a few new games.
01:18:34
Speaker
Okay, that is kind of annoying. That is like in my
01:18:41
Speaker
face. Yeah, so like big games that I've been looking forward to. ah Dark Heresy, which is kind of like what me and TC have been doing the playthrough of a Rogue Trader about. It is made by the same company, Owlcat Studios.

Baldur's Gate vs. Rogue Trader

01:18:56
Speaker
Same kind of thing if you like a Baldur's Gate type game, but a little much more down. Yeah, I was about to say, because Rogue Trader is very, because when I've seen you play I'm like, oh, this is giving like the Baldur's Gate vibes. Yeah, Baldur's Gate vibes, but very much dumbed down. It's a lot more linear story than Baldur's Gate, where you have a more open worldview of it.
01:19:19
Speaker
But Dark Heresies like that, get to take on the la role as an Inquisitor. That's all you kind of know about the story. You got to watch the trailers. that would encourage you to go watch the trailers for it. It should come out sometime this year.
01:19:31
Speaker
And then Dawn of War 4 on the docket as well. And they just released, I think it was two days ago, they just released the Mechanicus, like the Adeptus Mechanicus faction trailer, which was really cool And Dawn of War is...
01:19:49
Speaker
the RTS game um so those are fans of Don of got donnna War was kind of bad we we won't talk about that what about Don of War 3 oh there are no Don of War 3 fans gotcha yeah it was kind of bad ah I think the story was good but the game was pretty shit Fair. Fair.

Games Workshop and Warhammer Lore

01:20:16
Speaker
I'm hoping they kind of correct their mistakes with Dawn of War 4. The trailers look really good because Warhammer content just across the board always looks very good because Games Workshop is very protective of their IP.
01:20:29
Speaker
yeah they they definitely are are yeah uh i mean it's kind of like a good thing though i feel sometimes i don't think they've been like as litigious as nintendo has been but there have been some instances where it's like someone's like done like fan-made things and they put a stop to it pretty quick uh because of how protective they are they be they want things done right um knowing a little insider things from tip is from some people that I know that work in the industry is that the people that work there don't usually leave.
01:21:05
Speaker
So it's always the same people working on things and doing things because they don't have a high turnaround rate. Like most companies I think nowadays do. Yeah. And they have like a lore library to access. So people can make like it. It's commonly referred to as the black library. And that's like all the, what all the books are kind of released under that kind of title as basically anything lore wise, but it's like a basic big open source thing for them to to make things, which is nice for all the books and stuff that are coming out that it should be really fun to, uh,
01:21:41
Speaker
read The Black Library is also, yes, they it's a whole division of Games Workshop devoted for their novels and audiobooks. yep Set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and Warhammer 40K fictional. Oh, so there's three universes.
01:22:00
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. What the fuck is a Sigmar? So Age of Sigmar, they branded Age of Sigmar separate from regular Warhammer fantasy? According to Wikipedia, yes. Okay, interesting. I didn't know that.
01:22:14
Speaker
thought was kind of one and the same, just the the new age or whatever. past I haven't dealt much into it, so don't take my words for it. Gotcha. ah So what's what's what's some new stuff that you're looking forward to from the Black Library, then, if they're ever what you know? Ooh.
01:22:32
Speaker
I just like to be surprised when I get books. um Okay. Basically anything to do with the new lore set that comes out with the 11th Codex. So stuff regarding arc and the new war that's happening in the planet Armageddon. That will be really, really cool to see.
01:22:49
Speaker
um i don't think I'm going to get what I want, which is more Necron, which is another faction ah story. what who what egg What are the Oh, boy.
01:23:04
Speaker
Oh, boy. When it starts with that, that isn't helpful. I'm just like, oh, is it just like some? Oh, God. What have done? I got to think about not like war rambling too too much. Otherwise, we'd be here all all week. Week? So the Necrons are a faction of...
01:23:27
Speaker
kind of robotic beings. um They were once not robotic, but they've had their souls infused into living metal ah because lore reasons. um so wait there's so there's So there's magic?
01:23:41
Speaker
Question mark? Sort of. It's not referred to as magic, but you can think of it as that. Gotcha. This is more like really, really fancy science, I guess.
01:23:55
Speaker
Oh, okay. that's that's yeah That works too. Sort of. Sort of? Yeah. I don't even want ask why because I feel like... We're going to get into too much. We're going to get into too much. Necrons are like a robotic organic race. Kind of a soulless race of robots that want to take over the galaxy is the broad view of it, but they're much more nuanced than that once you actually start reading into them.
01:24:18
Speaker
Okay. I'll take that. Robots. They have... then some of the last storylines that I've read with the Necrons that they've had some pretty big lore developments on the one side of the galaxy that I, I want fleshed out. I want to know what happens because they're kind of in a civil war with each other right now. and that's really cool.
01:24:37
Speaker
Okay. Uh, how's the community reacting to all the new content that's, uh, been announced?

Henry Cavill's Warhammer Series

01:24:43
Speaker
Uh, overwhelmingly from what I've read, fairly positive. People are just excited to see new things. Um,
01:24:50
Speaker
I think when it comes to this Amazon show that everybody's talking about, I think people are going to be a hell of a lot more critical there. Okay, this Amazon show, is this the the project that Henry Cavill is part of? Maybe.
01:25:02
Speaker
Yes. Okay. Yeah. i So so it' it's a Warhammer 40K series that they're working on? As far as I know, i don't actually know a whole bunch. I think things have been like pretty vague in this regard. um most I think most of the news about the 40K show is just like Henry Cavill is a part of something 40K Amazon. Okay.
01:25:25
Speaker
You see, you see the reason that they haven't actually told us anything is because Henry Cavill is still on his semester long teaching of all of the Amazon execs on the Warhammer lore. So that way they get it right. Yeah, no, we, saw if they're going to keep, keep doing that, we won't see anything until about 2030.
01:25:44
Speaker
Oh, what are ah no no. I feel like I, oh. Yeah, no, I don't know a lot of the news on the show, but I feel like that's where lot of the criticism is going to be thrown out on that. Maybe Dawn of War 4, if it's really bad again. But I haven't seen a lot of like negativity around releases, which is good.
01:26:05
Speaker
So I think people are just excited to see more things because it's been been a while or at least a little while since we've seen some Warhammer stuff. um of the really rehyped. Yeah, but that's all kind of rehyped with Space Marine 2 release.
01:26:18
Speaker
Yeah. Did you play Space Marine 2? haven't yet because I haven't actually played Space Marine 1. Oh, OK. They're on my backlog to play. I have both the games. So... Okay, so I have like a little bit of experience with Warhammer

Warhammer 40K Games and Fan Theories

01:26:33
Speaker
40k. One game ah that i played for like 10 minutes before I had to put down because the rub I had to if I like play that again, I have to turn off rumble. Bolt gun?
01:26:44
Speaker
Oh, bolt gun's great. Okay, you've played bolt gun. I've a little bit of bolt gun, yes. I haven't finished it. What are your thoughts on that? It's a boomer shooter for those who don't know. It's it's basically the space marine boomer shooter. Yeah.
01:26:58
Speaker
I played a little bit of it because it's it was free or is it was it's with you can play it with PS Plus I can't remember which one but it's in my library on PlayStation. Bulk Gun was good fun um
01:27:13
Speaker
I don't really know what I'm about to say it's fun um it's fun it's fun and a so ah um okay you want to shoot things you want to have a I guess yeah you want to have a doom experience in the Warhammer universe play Bulk Gun Yeah, it's also got like the pixel graphics to match it to. yeah so so yeah It's a good game.
01:27:34
Speaker
What can you say? Yeah, just turn off Rumble. I will say turn off your controller Rumble if you play on controller because you will your your hands will get massaged too Yeah, you are holding a bolter for the people who know Warhammer.
01:27:51
Speaker
Echo Boom. Echo Boom. Echo Boom a lot. Echo Big Boom. Um... Okay, you teased about it at the start of fan theories.
01:28:02
Speaker
So what are the fan theories going around currently with the new stuff with Warhammer? Okay, so I don't know like much about new fan theories because I don't like diving into that because things get crazy. Like what happened with the Commissar Yarek storyline.
01:28:15
Speaker
People, for some reason, thought he was killed by a Primarch. For those who don't know what a Primarch is, it's like one of the Emperor's sons, super powerful, genetically modified human. um This particular Primarch was named ager Angron, who has fallen to the the baddies of i referred to as chaos, like the gods of chaos.
01:28:37
Speaker
ah Chaos. I've killed chaos before. So the last we actually heard about Yarek is he was chasing an orc named Gazgul, who is the orc war boss ah that's leading a ton of orcs into combat. Very intelligent, crafty, crafty orc.
01:28:54
Speaker
um He was chasing them away from Armageddon in the last war. That was the last we heard about him. Nothing happened. ah Nothing happened as far as we could tell. ah People have just assumed that he died. And that assumption spread to because of like a skull that like had his like cybernetic eye on one of a pages of one of the books.
01:29:18
Speaker
That's kind of how that theory started. It's like, oh, he's dead. And then people started coming up well, how did he die? Probably died fighting Gaskell. That would have made the most sense. But for some reason, there was like a Reddit thread somewhere that said that it's like, hey, he probably was killed by Angron. then there was this big theory about how the orcs are going to invade the warp, which is the realm of chaos ah to go after Angron because they killed the Yark died by the hands of Angron. The orcs want to go fight them because they took away his like their favorite enemy.
01:29:52
Speaker
so Orcs just like to fight. Yarek was spared. There's been some instances where he's spared by Orcs because he's a good enemy. Oh, it's like, oh, you fight well. this literally There's a ah scene where it's like good enemies are hard to find and they let him go.
01:30:13
Speaker
Okay, okay. so ah But no, there was a fan theory that kind of just like went down this crazy rabbit hole that made no sense whatsoever, but on the one hand, it would have been kind of funny if Game4Chop went that route.
01:30:28
Speaker
Mostly just to see orcs go into the warp to beat the shit out of a Primark because they killed their favorite enemy. Okay. with Funny meme fan theory. um This is why i don't like following fan theories at all.
01:30:42
Speaker
It just gets nonsensical. Yeah. so So what actually happened

Dawn of War 4 Hopes and Factions

01:30:52
Speaker
to the guy? Oh, he just got the shit kicked out of him by Gaskell and had to go to the hospital and woke up later.
01:31:01
Speaker
that's its That feels so lackluster. Lackluster compared to this crazy fan theory whatever, but in reality makes the most sense. Dude just goes to the- my god, that's- Oh, Karmusai Yarek is like his character. He's an old old man. Like, he's not a young dude. Fighting an orc warboss who stands like space marines are like big genetically modified humans that stand like eight feet tall.
01:31:28
Speaker
Gaskul is not a like genetically modified being. He's just a big orc with cybernetic augmentations that stands like eight, nine feet tall.
01:31:38
Speaker
Okay. So if he was going to face Yark one on one, Yark's going to get bodied. Okay, that makes more sense. Yark just has a reputation of like.
01:31:52
Speaker
I wouldn't call him like a great fighter. He's good at fighting, but he's just ah a regular old man human with a cybernetic like he he got his reputation by cutting off a an orc cybernetic arm and then mounting it to his missing arm.
01:32:08
Speaker
So that's where he got like this big intimidating reputation, but he's just a good commander in the story. Like he's a very good leader.
01:32:17
Speaker
Okay. Uh,
01:32:20
Speaker
ah Is there anything else you want to talk to war hamer of ramp about A whole bunch of lore. Where's my... It's all just... ah dot dot of What are you hoping for Dawn of War 4? What are you hoping to see in it? hope it goes back to its roots of Dawn of War 1.
01:32:41
Speaker
um Where you have kind of and bigger unit counts. And Dawn of War 2 was good, but it was like it felt small. would like to go back to seeing some base building a little bit more. I would like to see some bigger unit counts on the the field of battle. I would like to see... i hope they... Well, it's Warhammer, so they should be pretty good at like sticking to the asymmetry of the game with the factions.
01:33:13
Speaker
So that'll be good. um I'm hoping they add like ah Like, stick it with Dawn of War 1 where they add a bunch of factions. Whether it's later or on upon release, it would be good, but... How many factions are known to be Dawn of War 4 currently? What is Dawn of War 4 supposed to release? did they Do they have a date?
01:33:31
Speaker
That was supposed to be later this year.
01:33:38
Speaker
Yeah, summer. Yeah, no no actual date. Summer are this year sometime. Okay, so a summer release window. Okay. yeah ah For as factions, the factions don't know of, Adeptus Mechanicus are, our ourf you know, technology-loving toaster boys that my, like, PNG g profile pig is modeled after.
01:33:59
Speaker
I got Imperial Guard and Orcs and believe I don't want to say this and be wrong, but I thought I saw Tyranids on that list.
01:34:13
Speaker
Yeah. So you got your Space Marines. Sorry. No Imperial Guard. You got your Space Marines. You got Blood Ravens. Dark Angels are the two that they're referencing. ah The two chapters of Space Marines. Adeptus Mechanicus. They got the Necrons in there, which I didn't see.
01:34:26
Speaker
which is super cool. Necron's are awesome. And orcs. Because you can't have a Warhammer RTS game without orcs. You can't do it without the orcs. Yeah, that would just be sacrilege.
01:34:40
Speaker
I guess so. I'll take his word for it, folks. Did I learn anything here today? Probably not. Probably not. Because I'm going to forget about it yeah a couple days from now, realistically.
01:34:55
Speaker
ah honestly i try, but but this Warhammer is scary. Warhammer is scary, but if you want to keep in check with the Warhammer stuff, Games Workshop is pretty good at releasing things on their community page.

Warhammer Recommendations for Newcomers

01:35:10
Speaker
um What would you say is a good starting point for people who want to get into Warhammer? Oh, God. Oh, why? oh God, I don't like seeing those reactions. Oh, no. Honestly, i think the easiest entry, if you like video games, start with like Space Marine 2. Basically, pick pick a video game and follow it just to immerse yourself in the universe. of yeah You'll pick up some lore bits and learn to submit from there.
01:35:37
Speaker
If you like books... I feel like the Horus Heresy is probably like the very common, like the Horus Heresy book series is probably the common one people always recommend to get into first. And I think I would agree with that.
01:35:50
Speaker
How many, how many books are in that series? A lot. I can't, I don't know the number off the top of my head, but there all there's a lot of Warhammer books and there's a lot of books related to the Horus Heresy. Cause it was like, that's like the major cataclysmic event.
01:36:05
Speaker
So there's, there's a lot of stories in regards to that. So, um, Yeah. Uh, I mean, if you're into like tabletop RPGs, I know there's a tabletop RPG for Warhammer, um, that I've been looking, uh, kind of looking at so I can do a

Future Warhammer Episodes

01:36:21
Speaker
one shot.
01:36:21
Speaker
Okay. That's pretty cool. Yeah. So, I mean, that there's a lot of ways to get into it. Um, You know what, folks? I'm going to say it. Next year, i think we'll do a Warhammer special episode where we bring Wiggles and Preston on and ah we see if I don't get confused by the end of like two or three hours and we'll see how it goes.
01:36:47
Speaker
Yeah. ah That should be entertaining at the very least. It should be entertaining. <unk> it'll be entertaining to somebody. don't know if it'll be entertaining to any of us three or el how much pain we cause ourselves with it, but at least it'll be good content. Yeah. So there's this one guy called the emperor and that's where we're going to start with. And i was just going to go into a rabbit hole from there.
01:37:14
Speaker
ah It'll be great. All right. ah Anything else you want to add ah before we dive into the bonus level wiggles? Oh, we probably missed a few things I wanted to talk about, but that,
01:37:25
Speaker
is okay, because we did a lot.

Upcoming Warhammer Releases

01:37:30
Speaker
And of course, as the games and stuff come out, we try to keep up with Warhammer news ah because it all falls into the gaming world. ah We do try to keep up with that stuff ah here on the podcast. Oh, yeah. there was like as it but There was a couple of releases for that. I just didn't mention that you should be. So ah for Rogue Trader, there's a new DLC coming out that is very Necron related, which will be super cool and I'm excited for.
01:37:56
Speaker
ah There's a Tech Marine class coming to the Space Marine 2. ah The Speed Freaks kind of car racing orc game is getting a console announcement release trailer. They have a kart racer? You know that game that TC and I were playing called ah Speed Freaks a while ago?
01:38:16
Speaker
It's basically like a racing game, but think like a... Warhammer burnout paradise. Warhammer 40k speed freaks. What the fuck? I've never. i must have missed that.
01:38:30
Speaker
we We didn't play it for like a super long Who's now part of the cult of speed? Yeah, you oh play as orc orc speed racers. ah A lot explosions happen. This seems like the most casual... this I feel like this would be a great jumping point for a warhammer. This might be your jumping point, people. Oh, you can build fucking... There's a level editor? Oh my god. Okay, that's wild. It doesn't have like a huge player base, unfortunately. um
01:39:07
Speaker
But it is fun.
01:39:11
Speaker
Huh, okay. Yeah, um and then and I think that's really it for like super releases, but a bunch of trailers for Dawn of War have released ah character reveal for Dark Heresy. So that's stuff to go look at if you're interested in looking at things.
01:39:29
Speaker
All right, and be sure be sure if you're a fan of Warhammer to check those things out, folks, if you haven't yet.

Space Marine Legions Tournament

01:39:34
Speaker
ah With that, it's now time for us to dive into the bonus level and start closing things out.
01:39:41
Speaker
Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And starting it off, we're not done with Warhammer quite yet because dave Clash today, I figured we might as well keep it in the Warhammer realm.
01:39:53
Speaker
ah The Game Clash today, Wiggles, I've got eight legions of space marines going head to head. You're going to pick the winner. Okay. I actually don't have a favorite space marine legion, so this might be oh perfect easier to... Yeah.
01:40:10
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Are you ready? Yes. Match one. We have the White Scars versus the Salamanders. Salamanders all the way. They're the only space we really marine legion that is not that aren't complete assholes in the lore. Okay. Match two. We got the Thousand Suns versus the Dark Angels.
01:40:34
Speaker
I kind of like both. So the Thousand Suns are a chaos space marine legion. And the Dark Angels are ah loyalist ones by the... So this is kind of for the Warhammer nerds like myself. ah Dark Angels, obviously, Lionel Johnson's coming back into the story.
01:40:54
Speaker
Big Primark guy. um You know what? Let's give it to the Dark Angels because they're going to get some lore soon because of things that are happening in in the universe. Okay, match three. The Sons of Horus versus the Space Wolves.
01:41:10
Speaker
Space wolves. Sons of Horus are a problem and they need to need to stop you he did not exist. Match four, the Blood Angels versus the Raven Guard.
01:41:25
Speaker
That's a tough one because I really like the Raven Guard, but I'll give it to the Blood Angels. that They're a pretty cool chapter. All right. Semi-finals, Salamanders versus Dark Angels.
01:41:36
Speaker
salamanders because they're nice and they like flame weapons uh space wolves versus blood angels
01:41:48
Speaker
blood angels everybody likes the the the furry legion too much i need to avoid them oh All right, grand finals, Salamanders versus Blood Angels. Wiggles, who wins? Salamanders, yeah. i'm going with Salamanders just because they're not assholes.
01:42:02
Speaker
Salamanders win for not being assholes and being pyromaniacs. I would say the Blood Angels are probably like, I haven't heard like too many asshole accounts of them in lore, but Space Marines are like, normally, lore-wise, like kind of lose some of their humanity because they're like super soldiers and they're like constantly fighting all the time.
01:42:25
Speaker
Makes sense. But the salamanders legions are like very human-oriented. They very much try to keep their humanity. okay that's interesting. The more you know.
01:42:38
Speaker
Yeah. This week of giving history. Here's what happened in the past from April 27th to May 10th.

Gaming History Highlights

01:42:45
Speaker
Starting out with some major events. April 30th, 1982, New York Superior Court Judge Milton Feller declares unconstitutional a community ordinance in Garwood, New Jersey that required video game players to be at least 18 years old.
01:43:02
Speaker
On May 1st in 92, in the lawsuit of Atari versus Nintendo, a jury in a San Francisco court who finds Nintendo's licensing program had not hurt Atari. The jury concludes Nintendo did not try to monopolize the video game market. However, the jury is deadlocked on the issues of illegal maintenance of a monopoly and unfair restraint of trade.
01:43:24
Speaker
On May 8th, 2006, at a press conference in Los Angeles before E3, rest in peace, Sony announced the PlayStation 3 with motion-sensing Bluetooth wireless, 6-axis controller, and Blu-ray high-definition DVD player. 01:44:03
Speaker
I remember when. Good times. Rage 5 remembers.

Don't drive though. ah April 28th, Little Nightmares turns nine. turns 19. april twenty ninth gc a four turns nineteen ah May 3rd, Forza Motorsport turns 21. 01:44:53
Speaker
Wiggles. What sport should Mario play next? like I'm looking at the list of sports that you have and I can't use the one that I want to say, but I'm assuming it's because it's probably already been done.
01:45:04
Speaker
What did you want to say? Hockey. Yeah, he did do hockey. Ice hockey is is one of them. Yeah, so he I'm assuming that's that's already been done, but you know what hasn't been done?

Mario's Next Sport Adventure

01:45:16
Speaker
Rugby. i will allow it. Even though I think it was in one of the Olympic games, rugby is its own thing. I will allow rugby. Oh, fine. If not rugby, then we'll just do it another Canadian classic lacrosse.
01:45:28
Speaker
Oh, lacrosse is a good one too, but I, but we, we do take rugby because with, with the Olympics, It's like, like, like things are like pretty like exclusive to the Olympics or no, but like rugby is like everywhere. Like, yeah, it's in the Olympics, but like road it's, it's, it's got, it has a league. i mean, it might not be ah big where we're from, but, uh,
01:45:53
Speaker
Went to New Zealand and that's like their sport. Like hockey is our sport. Rugby is their sport. You know what I'm surprised hasn't been said yet?
01:46:04
Speaker
Like with the within the first five weeks of this? Oh. Football, like American football. Eh, overrated.
01:46:14
Speaker
ah I think I killed Tony with a laugh. I'm good. ah Moving on to your deals of the week, ah your epic free

Current Gaming Deals

01:46:23
Speaker
games. ah First, Doom Blade is free until the 30th currently. And from April 30th to May 7th, OddSparks and Automation Adventure will be free to grab as well.
01:46:34
Speaker
Your Steam sales. Golden Week sales are currently going on on Steam until May 5th or May 4th. Currently, of the known ones that I grabbed, Spike Chunsoft, Konami, and Capcom all have Golden Week sales going on.
01:46:46
Speaker
ah There's a Hammerwatch franchise sale and a Super Robot Wars franchise sale going on until May 4th. And the Gamer Sky Publisher sale going on until May 10th. And on PlayStation, ah the Big Games Big Deals sale is going on until May six Your achievement of the week is in mouse PI for hire. We'll bang. Okay.
01:47:06
Speaker
ah Going, which is to upgrade every weapon to tier three. Also, I think that's a mass effect reference. ah If it is, I'm blanking on the reference. I believe, i believe shepherd says somewhere in the game with some of the, one of the romance options. He he says we'll bang. Okay.
01:47:27
Speaker
I believe it's about subs. I, I, I'm going to actually fact check cause it might not have been. I don't think it, if it was a mass effect reference, I don't think it was like an end game reference. I think it was a meme. Yeah.
01:47:42
Speaker
yeah i think it was a meme. Oh, but yes, it was the guy who made the fucking, um, Yarl ball and shit. Okay. yeah It's that.
01:47:54
Speaker
Yeah. He did it. Oh, they referenced that. That's even better. That's funny. That's great. That is shout outs to the devs or that. Cause I'm like, I recognize that from somewhere. I'm like massive. It was, it's the fucking Yarl Ballad guy who gave us, who blessed us with ah that.
01:48:11
Speaker
ah Your game of the week is dead as disco and sledding game as long as sledding game comes out.

Game Recommendations

01:48:17
Speaker
ah it Wiggles, if there is a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience, what game would that be?
01:48:23
Speaker
Well, we talked about two, one really big franchise, one little franchise for game recommendations. I'm not going to recommend Foxhole right now until they get some of these ah things updated.
01:48:33
Speaker
I mean, I still would like people to come play that game. It is a good game, but um I've been really enjoying Rogue Trader, ah that playthrough. It's an RPG game, so Baldur's Gate-esque.
01:48:47
Speaker
One is a game that I will recommend as like an entry level into Warhammer 2 because you don't really need to know much to get into the game. Because you're following like your character around um and you will learn things along the way. They give like a lot of like little lore tidbits here and there um all the time if you want to learn that. um But There is some bugginess with the game a little bit that they complained about on the last stream. If you want to watch that, ah but it's a good game overall. I'm very excited to see what Owlcat does with the next one.
01:49:19
Speaker
All right. ah With that, that closes out another episode right back here in the game lounge. Wiggles. Thanks as always for coming on. Yeah. I'm glad to be here. Happy, happy to to ramble about nonsense and games and stuff. Always.
