00:00:40
Alex
Yeah, good, thanks, Joe. um It's quite apt that you mentioned Baby Oil, considering our opponents and one of their one of their attackers who's sort of renowned.
00:00:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:00:51
Alex

00:01:01
Alex
But yeah, I didn't know that about Apple, though, so luckily I'm not with them.
00:01:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:01:04
Alex
Yeah.
00:01:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah didn't really read beyond the ah the headline to be honest Yeah, some kind of row has led to them to no longer end-to-end encrypt your data. So if you're concerned, if you've got maps of buried bodies, listeners, take them off the cloud now.
00:01:22
Global Sports Podcast Network

00:01:23

00:01:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Distractions. Discuss for life, I'm sure. ah Today, we're going to give our final thoughts ahead of Palace's trip to Craven Cottage.

Crystal Palace Team News and Player Analysis

00:01:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're also going to assess Glasner's first complete year in charge of the Eagles and finish up by embracing our inner Sergio Leone's bracket. Didn't he used to play for West Ham?
00:02:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
started team news for the Fulham game. The big news for Palace is that while the likes of Decore and Riyad remain injured, Glastner thinks Eze should be fit to start again. Obviously, he came off the bench last time out.
00:02:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Does that that please you a lot, Alex? Do you think this is the kind of game where Eze could have a big impact?
00:02:25
Alex
Yeah, I think every game is ah is a game where Eze can make an impact, really. he ah He is that good and he's got that much quality. um ah do feel like we could have done with him against Everton, which lacked a bit of just finesse and a bit of composure at times.
00:02:45
Alex
Like, you know, Sarr hit the bar in the first half. um And were just a few like scrappy opportunities where I think Eze might have If he was on the end of one of them, he might have had more joy.
00:02:57
Alex
um And yeah, you know, just his impact and his presence is like so clear when he comes on. um And he is just so like, he's way too good to not start if he's fit, you know, like he is our best player um by quite stretch.
00:03:15
Alex
um So yeah, if if he is fit, like he's got to play, it's just as simple as that really. Yeah. I mean, we've given chances to Di Veni, Nkamada and They're obviously you all right. like And Devaney's a young player, so he's still learning. And it's, yeah, neither of them really have a have a patch on Eze. So if he's fit and available, yeah, he's got to play. um What he can bring against Fulham, you know, their defence, their sort of defensive four of Anderson, Bassey. I'm not sure who their two holding midfielders are.
00:03:51
Alex
Reid and Sandler, like it's
00:03:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think last time out was like Kitchen Burger was nerf him was there. It's pretty, a fairly robust pair of holding midfielders.
00:03:58
Alex
Yeah.
00:04:04
Alex
Yeah, it's a tough for whoever plays usually, like, to get past. um Very experienced as well. And, like, yeah, theyre they're just very, obviously very good and they don't lose a lot of games for them. So, yeah, it's one where Eze would be handy if he is available, which it looks like he is. So, fingers crossed, he can start.
00:04:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, I think that's spot on. It will depend probably a bit on how much Fulham feel now, given they're at home, given what a good position they're in in the table within reach of European places in eighth at the moment, that how much they feel the onus is on them to kind of re-attack the game.
00:04:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
if they continue to play in a fairly the kind of sensible safe way as i'd say sort of typical of fulham then you're really gonna need someone like as a to have a chance of picking that lock as you say they're really experienced smart high quality defensive unit.
00:05:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
If they go for the game a little bit more, then you almost like that would suit Palace better. They'd have more joy just just trying to spring quick camps on them. But again, Eze is vital, vital important in that regard too because he's so often the one who can find the right weight of pass to Saar or Munoz or whoever it is who's ultimately going to cut the ball back to Jean-Philippe in the box.
00:05:42
Alex
hi Yeah, too predictable.
00:05:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah good yeah sorry um so and I think it's it's really really great news for Palace that he is ready to start the game.

Tactical Analysis: Palace vs. Fulham

00:05:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Another sort of major topic of conversation from Glaston's pre-match press conference was the question of stopping Captain Baby Oil that we were talking about earlier, Dama Traore, and whether the need to contain him and his unique set of talents would inform his decision regarding whether to start a Chilwell or Mitchell is kind of, you know, like, is that a concern for you stopping Traore? Would it affect your selection? Is it, is it the route to containing Fulham?
00:06:36
Alex
um I wouldn't say it's like critical, like whether Chilwell or Mitchell plays. um I actually think away from home, starting Mitchell, keeping things tight ah is probably more beneficial.
00:06:52
Alex
And then if we need to push for an equaliser or a winner or you know something later on, then Chilwell's skill set might be...
00:06:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:07:02
Alex
Yeah, more useful later in the game. um I wouldn't say that Traore is like, you know, and I'm sure Glasner hasn't, but he's not like the main attacking threat for Fulham either.
00:07:16
Alex
Their front four is actually like really good. Raul Jimenez, Iwobi, they both had a lot of goal contributions this year. And then they've got Smith Rowe as well, which, you know, he tore us apart in the in the reverse fixture at Sellers.
00:07:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thanks.
00:07:29
Alex
um So theres there's like multiple players that we have to worry about. But I think, yeah, that left side is always going to be a bit of a talking point for the, you know, for the next few weeks with Chilwell coming in.
00:07:42
Alex
um We just know how good that he is and what he can bring. Yeah. And he is perhaps more of a complete left wing back than Mitchell in terms of he can probably attack better, maybe a bit more composure in the final third.
00:07:55
Alex
um So, yeah, I think we might see him introduced a bit more, and whether that's from the bench or, you know, a start position. I think definitely in the FA Cup game against Millwall, Chilwell will probably have that opportunity at least.
00:08:10
Alex
um But yeah, I mean, Mitchell, you know, he made the mistake against Everton, but other than that, he hasn't really done loads wrong. So ah think it would be a bit harsh to drop him here. um Yeah, but then again, Chilwell has got a good calibre.
00:08:26
Alex
But yeah, at the moment, I can't see Glasner tinkering with the back five too much. He's stuck with it for so long, like it'd be a bit silly to change it now.
00:08:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, I completely agree. i think there's always a sort of panic about Adama Traore because he looks so explosive and difficult to deal with when he's actually running with the ball at pace.
00:08:44
Alex
yeah
00:08:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Glasner insists that both... Left-back options are capable of dealing with him. And I agree. I think that he's actually the least threatening in many ways, as you say, of Fulham's attacking four. think the way you deal with Adama Traore is just give him enough space to run the ball out of play pretty much. It's not really actually a sensible decision-maker.
00:09:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
when he gets into the final third, he's just kind of a, yeah, freight train really down the right that the worst that you can possibly do is try and engage him. And agree, think sensible move is starting Mitchell just for the kind of defensive chemistry, um,
00:09:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
We don't know really yeah It's still been a long time since Chilwell got 90 minutes in his legs at the top level.
00:09:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
And so, you know, you do want to ease him in gradually um if he even is ever going to take that starting buff. um But yeah, I'd start Mitchell not really for containing Traore.
00:09:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
For me, the bigger threats are I'd worry more from Palace point of view about that sort of combination of Iwobi and Smith-Rowe, because it is tactically, just by nature, of the formation,
00:10:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
an area where you can hurt Palace is just sort of overwhelming them in the midfield. As good as Hughes, Lerma, Wharton have been recently, there's only ever two of them.
00:10:15
Alex
Yeah.
00:10:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
And Fulham can play in a way where they've really got like four or with how comfortable Jimenez is on the ball, since even five players kind of fill in that area. And it can lead Palace to be sort dominated for long periods or, yeah, you can kind of pick your way through from that.
00:10:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
middle channel with players of the quality and form of a wavy and smith row i think that will be definitely a concern for the eagles in the game i don't think that'd be anything done um to particularly counter that is ah with the rigidity of the system at palace um but yeah i think that's definitely an area of danger um lastly wrap our thoughts on the game how do you ultimately see it going
00:11:04
Alex
ah have To be honest, I'm not confident. just I feel like they're some weird team that, like I mentioned earlier, they don't lose often. And they just don't really do much that stuns you. Or you're like, oh, they're a really good team.
00:11:19
Alex
They're just solid, aren't they? and Which I think is more dangerous for us, in a way. So I can see it maybe being a scrappy 1-0 to them or 2-1 or something. food I think our recent encounters have been quite tight, like the odd goal.
00:11:34
Alex
But yeah, i'm not I'm not feeling confident about this one, Joe. So yeah, 1-0 Fulham, I'll go with
00:11:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah I feel like I'll be slightly more positive and and stick it with an optimistic 1-1. I just feel both both teams draw so many games one one or by similar scores, 2-2s, 0-0s there.
00:11:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
surely they've got to get them well against each other uh i don't see ah situation in which palace would the game realistically it's been i think they've gone six games without a win against marco silvers fulham the record's really not good and
00:12:00
Alex
yeah
00:12:05
Alex
Yeah, I agree.
00:12:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
with the form they're in, confidence coursing through after that. What now feels like a really big result, beating Forest um last weekend.
00:12:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just think, yeah, I don't really see... i mean, the only way I can see Palace winning is for them almost getting overexcited and trying to play above their station and taking risks of the north.
00:12:36
Alex
They're like the the most un-over-excited team going.
00:12:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh I was level-headed side the league.
00:12:44
Alex
Yeah, yeah.
00:12:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, I think it's screened 1-1 to me, this game. But yeah, with that, we will take a quick pause for a word from the sponsor. And when we come back, we'll be talking about Oliver Glasner's first complete year as Palace boss.

Oliver Glasner's Impact on Crystal Palace

00:13:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:13:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
So this Wednesday marked one year of Oli G being in the Palace. The Austrian skiing enthusiast was brought in as manager to arrest Palace's downhill momentum every last year.
00:13:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So now seems a good time to evaluate his tenure so far. What do you think, so on the whole, Alex, what has he done well in this year as boss?
00:14:07
Alex
um I think one of the main things from a fan point of view is just galvanising the club a bit more and just bringing a bit of positive football to ah Palace.
00:14:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is
00:14:19
Alex
um We just had so many years of Pulis, Allardyce, Hodgson. Not the most inspiring football, but it's got us to where it is now, so can't be too disgruntled about it.
00:14:37
Alex
But we were crying out at the end of Hodgson's light era to have a new like lease of life. We tried it with Vieira, didn't work. Whether that was the right decision or not, like we'll never know.
00:14:54
Alex
But um yeah, obviously we needed a change, a big change. And we went for Glasner, which I think like the the relationship has been really good. um you know You just want someone who comes in and gets the club and gets what you're trying to do and gets the players. and You kind of feel that. You felt that from day one, really.
00:15:15
Alex
like it's just not you know those roy Roy said some things towards the end of his time with us that were a bit bizarre. and it was like Glasner was the perfect person we needed just to come in and calm everything down and like get everyone on side, get us pulling in the same direction.
00:15:33
Alex
And he's done that really well. um And yeah, it's just as it's just like we go into games now and it's not like, you know, you actually feel like we're going to be competitive and like have the same amount of chances as the opposition. And, um you know, when we get the ball, there's like this kind of electric feeling that like, you know, we're going to pile forward and like we're going to get players in the box and be a bit of a a menace, which is like,
00:15:59
Alex
what you want as a ah fan, isn't it You want to see exciting football. Um, and yeah, it's, it's, I think it's been really good. Like, he's probably, well, in terms of win percentage, he is the best manager we've had in the premier league, um, in the last 10 years or so. So yeah, like I can't, can't fault him massively. Um, obviously the start to this season was, uh, probably his biggest, like, um, biggest con of his palace career.
00:16:29
Alex
Uh, But again, I'm not sure how much like ah fault he was for that. you know We sold Anderson and Lise, two key players. um And Anderson was obviously a leader, like captain for us for a couple of games.
00:16:46
Alex
So yes, it's like he's he's dealt with that quite well considering. And where we are now is like, I was talking to Wale about this the other day but in terms of league position we're actually not that much better than we were under Roy but there's just this feeling of like we've got everything in place to kick on it's not like we're just going to survive and we're just going hover above the relegation zone it's like okay we have potential now and that's kind of what you want to feel as a fan really so yeah I mean the year has flown by it to be fair like it feels like he's been at the club for a while but
00:17:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah,
00:17:22
Alex
yeah, overall really pleased with how he's doing at the moment.
00:17:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah i think you have to say overall, it's a really good job. While, i mean, this is slightly inflated, league position might better indicator, actually, of how well he's done. But because this is slightly inflated, perhaps, by his tremendous finish to last season.
00:17:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
The Athletic, I think, sort stitched together the two parts of a year to make one complete season, and that would put Palace on 54 points, which would be their highest ever.
00:17:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Admittedly, only marginally, but the highest ever in a Prem campaign, which I think speaks to just doing a good job of the resources available, clearly.
00:18:07
Alex
Mm-hmm.
00:18:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I think you're really spot on about... the kind of vibes element of it, that he's managed to hit a kind of happy medium of playing a kind of football um which is entertaining and progressive and is a platform to build on and do something perhaps more than just survive in the Prem.
00:18:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Totally gets the fans on side and has enough passion them to relate to him, but also seems to be from what we can understand, pretty good at the kind of managing up His football and his demeanour don't scare the Palace board in the same way that perhaps Vieira's and De Boer's, although De Boer might have been more results than De Boer's problem, did.
00:19:03
Alex
Yeah.
00:19:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think he's he's really like ah been a great fit in that regard. And I think he deserves deserve a lot of credit for how he weathered the kind of squad upheaval and his tactical stubbornness then really, because really wasn't working for the first 10 games of the season.
00:19:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
and out of desperation to just turn results around a lot of people, including certainly some of us were were kind of saying we need a little tactical tweak here. And I think he made the judgment that it was best to, rather than throwing away the work he'd been doing, just keep pursuing with that as a new group and they just need kind of consistency and um yeah, one one solid, simple system for them to gel into and i think that was a great decision that's really paying dividends now.
00:20:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's also kind of upcycled Palace, 15-16 goal season striker in John Flit Mateta was sat there, nothing a whole lot for three years and then suddenly not sure how much of that is just John Flit Mateta finding a new gear by coincidence kind of as Glasner came in, how much of it is Glasner's
00:20:07
Alex
And
00:20:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
coaching or or tactics but certainly you have to say that's almost perfectly timed that the point at which Mateta starts banging goals is pretty much when Glasner comes other things he could have done better I think you could argue that while he's upcycled a 15-goal-a-season striker completely for free.
00:20:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
he's He's got no league goals out of a striker that Palace have paid a lot money for in the summer as well.
00:20:55
Alex
Yeah.
00:20:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
And maybe sort of those big signings, like, because he's so tactically consistent, maybe it means that he doesn't sort of get the best out of the mix of talent and options that Palace have. Because I think like Nketiah and Kamada,
00:21:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
I feel there's a possible role for them all. They they did they both offer something kind of different to anyone else sit in the squad and it's just not really managed to make that valuable yet.
00:21:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
But think some of the responsibility rests on both of their shoulders flat as well. um
00:21:31
Alex
Yeah.
00:21:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think you can improve his jumper game sometimes. yeah
00:21:36
Alex
He's very Austrian. His jump is very Austrian, I must say.
00:21:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. if That cream one with the kind of raised diamonds looks like a high-sour bed sheet I'm not a fan of.
00:21:42
Alex
Yeah.
00:21:44
Alex
but
00:21:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think some of the turtlenecks make him look less humble. He actually is.
00:21:48
Alex
Yeah, me too, yeah. The kind of cream one just makes me feel like he's stuck in December, like around December 20th. He just still thinks it's Christmas.
00:21:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Christmas in Austria. He's from the skiing community.
00:22:00
Alex
Yeah, true. if he's still If he's still wearing them in May, I might have some concerns.
00:22:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Less animators on the touchline.
00:22:10
Alex
If we get to Wembley, he's there like stretching his turtleneck.
00:22:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I could see it happening.
00:22:19
Alex
but yeah
00:22:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah I think on the whole, we have to say, great job, first year, Oliver Glasner. um this The one remaining question is, how many more years of Glasner you think we'll see? Is he is he sticking around for long haul?
00:22:33
Alex
I hope so. um yeah i mean You never know football, do you? like Things can change very quickly. um It just takes a few bad results ah or um you know a bigger club to come in and it could all change.
00:22:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:22:46
Alex
But Yeah, I think what we're building, he seems very on board with it, just from what he says in press conferences and yeah things like that and how he talks about new signings and stuff. It all seems like he's pulling in the same direction as like Steve Parrish and the board and the fans.
00:23:06
Alex
So I think he is in it for a long-term project. But then again, if we don't achieve success... um which probably is getting into the top half of the table at this point. and We probably don't achieve that in the next few years, who knows? But yeah, it's one step at a time. We've got some amazing young players as well from the academy and we've obviously signed like Wharton and Essay and stuff. So yeah, I mean, onwards and upwards is, it it does feel positive at the moment being a Palace fan and we don't always get to say that.
00:23:37
Alex
So yeah it's yeah, it's looking good at the moment.
00:23:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. i mean I agree. All all the signs positive. Seems to have good relationship with the board and be... happy and and and committed to the work that he's doing that there are always, said, it's a fickle business and if the Palace board weren't afraid to, after a fairly short run of bad results, sack the absolutely terrifying figure that is Padre Vieira, then I'd have an only afraid to sack Oliver Glasner.
00:24:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
but um But everything think seems positive at the moment. I guess the only question would be, he goes home to Austria a lot.
00:24:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think his family still live out there. And you kind of think, so in the summer Bayern approached and they and then the club just didn't entertain it at all.
00:24:30
Alex
Yeah.
00:24:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he very professionally hasn't kicked up a fuss about it and has got on with things. But Another big club in Germany close to home coming in. I feel like it's plausible and at a certain point the club can't just kind of pretend it isn't happening.
00:24:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:24:48
Alex
Yeah.
00:24:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Discollect the fire ands and and maybe he would be tempted. But ah i think I think he sounds like he's in it for long run the way he speaks.
00:24:56
Alex
Yeah.
00:24:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I don't see why Palace would... I think he'd now, for me, have to have... really sustained pretty sustained run of terrible football for them to justify getting rid of him. I think he's shown his worth enough to yeah buy himself some patience. I reckon it'll be he'll be the custodian for for a little while.

Creative Brainstorm: Crystal Palace-themed Western Movie

00:25:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Speaking of reliable custodians, people that give us a platform to perform, then we'll ah we'll have a quick break for a word from the sponsor, Zencaster, before wrapping up with some cowboy talk.
00:26:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
A video has recently been leaked in which PSG owner Nasser Al-Khalifi calls your friend and mine, John Texter, a cowboy, after he had the audacity to suggest that Ligue 1 should not sell its broadcast rights to be in sports, a company of which Al-Khalifi is the chairman.
00:26:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
i naturally, that made me wonder, if we were to make a Crystal Palace-themed Western movie, who would star in it? What would it be called?
00:26:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
What would the vibe be? So starting with you, Alex, what is your suggestion for ah Palace Western? Nice.
00:26:44
Alex
so i've gone very sort of alliteration with ah my title here um so i've called it the shootout at the cellar saloon um the what ah what the basis of this story is i don't know screenplay hasn't been there hasn't been thought up yet but um yeah that's the that's the title i'm going with i feel like it's got a nice people i think people would be like yeah i'd give that watch um
00:26:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nice.
00:26:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:26:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:27:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
you I agree I agree
00:27:10
Alex
Obviously, every good cowboy film needs like a gunslinger, and who better than John Philip Mateta to play that role?
00:27:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
s
00:27:19
Alex
You could just picture him you know with the holsters like going in through the swinging doors. he's sort
00:27:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it's a good build for a cowboy
00:27:29
Alex
of got the stacked.
00:27:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
can't expect on
00:27:32
Alex
and I could imagine him wearing the hat as well to like cover up the baldness. I think it would work quite nicely for him.
00:27:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
that.
00:27:40
Alex
Um, yeah, so he would definitely be my kind of like main, uh, bad, bad person in the film. Um,
00:27:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
a villain who's not a kind of anti-hero going through them.
00:27:52
Alex
Yeah, yeah he's he's a villain. So he's like terrorizing the villagers, not villagers, whatever, townsfolk.
00:28:05
Alex
And then, yeah, I'd go with someone like Joel Ward, obviously, as like the town sheriff, like 100% the town sheriff. um
00:28:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
and so
00:28:14
Alex
and I'm just imagining this is taking place in like ah like a saloon type place, obviously, because of the title. then I'd have like Remy Matthews or someone behind the bar, just the sort of, not the main character by any stretch, but he just needs a role to play.
00:28:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ray Matthews doing all the extras roles. so
00:28:38
Alex
Yeah. Yeah. He can be the barman, the waiter, the, you know, yeah, just the extras is fine. I'm not sure like where Glasner fits into all of this though. Maybe I think he would be like,
00:28:51
Alex
You know, usually in a Western, you have like the table of people who aren't really involved in it. They're just there playing like dominoes or cards or something. I can imagine him there with like, yeah.
00:29:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
but keep his head down. Have nice game of dominoes as well.
00:29:05
Alex
Yeah, him and on and an Uncle Mark in the corner playing some cards or something.
00:29:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
really
00:29:13
Alex
Yeah, like, so that's kind of like what I've got is the premise as ah like the characters.
00:29:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
i like it.
00:29:19
Alex
But what happens in this slide in this cowboy film? I don't know. The set-up's there, but like storyline, I have no idea.
00:29:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a vivid image for me. I can see it.
00:29:28
Alex
Yeah, yeah.
00:29:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
I see it mind's eye. I can see a roll for like... amelia jednak or someone in there as well i feel like yeah maybe a deranged preacher or something like that yeah i like a lot like a lot either i'd certainly buy tickets sounds more engaging than uh my suggestion
00:29:35
Alex
Oh yeah.
00:29:42
Alex
Yeah, there there is always one, isn't there? So I could imagine him playing that role quite well.
00:29:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
I kicked around the idea of Wayne Hennessy and the Sundance Kid at one point, but I couldn't really make it work. So I've got instead Roy's story, which would be a um film featuring a cowboy called Woody, spelled R-O-O-D, who wanders the desert with his partner, ah which would be John Philippe from Texas, played by the rock in this.
00:30:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
um And basically in in true Roy fashion, ah who would be playing a leading role, of course, they would just like always have enough water get by by securing a steady supply of low risk global jobs until the film just kind of peter out of nowhere and every year they'd release the exact same film just in different clothes until box office pressures force them to stop production eventually because no one's going through the gates anymore so yeah that's my suggestion
00:31:00
Alex
There's always, um usually it's like a ah strong start as well, I imagine in this film.
00:31:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
thank
00:31:06
Alex
Start strong and then it just
00:31:11
Alex
demises into boringness.
00:31:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Odd jobs. Rambling people out for the sheriff. Not showing anyone. It's fine.
00:31:20
Alex
Just four forced into retirement eventually.
00:31:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. This horse dies of boredom at some point.
00:31:26
Alex
Who would then
00:31:29
Alex
Who would you have play Roy Hodgson? You mentioned The Rock for Mateta.
00:31:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
may I'll get The Rock, Tessa's range, like Tom Hardy in Legend or whatever. The Rock to play Hodgson and Matessa.
00:31:40
Alex
Yeah.
00:31:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
i Ultimately, i don't know. Hmm. Yeah, have to give it some thought, that. Do you the most kind of owl-like actors... wouldn't have Damboy back in the day, probably, but...
00:31:59
Alex
Okay.
00:32:00
Alex
Who's the...
00:32:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
The pool of, without being too disrespectful, the pool of actors who could play Hodgson is consistently diminishing.
00:32:09
Alex
Yeah, you're probably true. Who's who's the Star Wars guy? I can't remember his name. No, I don't know.
00:32:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Han Solo? Harrison Ford?
00:32:18
Alex
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that guy. Harrison Ford.
00:32:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
can see that. Yeah, I can see that.
00:32:22
Alex
Yeah. Harrison Ford and The Rock.
00:32:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, haven't that worked well.
00:32:34
Alex
yes
00:32:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Anthony Hopkins, maybe?
00:32:36
Alex
Oh yeah, that would be good. So he's got the kind of like ah kind of look that he could turn like like Roy had occasionally.
00:32:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:32:44
Alex
If he said something wrong, he could like switch.
00:32:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's sort affable, but he has bit of menace in the eyes there. Yeah.
00:32:49
Alex
Yeah, I think that would be a better shout, to be fair, yeah.
00:32:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, they're rocking into Hopkins in the Roy story. So guess I think that will, well, it'd sell no tickets, as I say, but it'd entertain me briefly.
