New Co-host and Comedy Nights
00:03:49
Speaker
Wally's back, and he's been going strong on Mondays and Thursdays with Speedway Stories and Cold-Blooded Conversations. um And he's got himself a new co-host. You guys might know him from Saturday nights. Our boy Fidel Bongs, a.k.a. Johnny Bongs, hanging out with Wally, talking all the dinosaurs and the vroom vrooms.
00:04:09
Speaker
As they go fast around the track. Yes, it's dinosaurs and racing, ladies and gentlemen. What more can you want? And then, of course, Michael and Britt Wednesdays with their hump day ha-has if it's comedy based or comedian related.
00:04:23
Speaker
i don't know why dug it out like that. They're talking about it and they're having fun. They're having a good time. They're having some laughs. And and I get some of their comedian friends that pop in and hang out with them from time to time.
Weekend Entertainment Lineup
00:04:34
Speaker
Friday nights, Michael is doing movie nights with Michael and friends. So every week, he's got somebody new hanging out, and they're talking different gen genre of music movies sorry ah different types of movies, whatever the case may be. And I know I'll be coming up there soon, here in a couple few weeks. We're going to a little talky talk.
00:04:54
Speaker
Michael and I are. And then, of course, Saturday nights, we got the always unpredictable, completely unhinged, nonsensical nonsense, and and all of our friends come out and hang out with us. It's always fun.
Football Discussions and Rivalries
00:05:09
Speaker
And then Sundays, we wrap the weeks up with Rick and myself, Unnecessary Roughness, talking all things football, foosball. And we mix in some other sports in there, but it's mainly college and NFL football as we are right in the middle of college football. And it's rivalry week and for college football. So I would just like to point out it's been like 3,000 and some odd days since Ohio State beat Michigan. But, I mean, who's counting?
00:05:36
Speaker
Who's counting? And Ryan Day, his six-year plan of putting 100 on Michigan, he might do it this year. He's only 16 points away. So, I'm going to talk shit now because I have a feeling Sunday I'm not going to be able to talk shit because I have a feeling that Michigan's going get their dicks knocked in the dirt Saturday. But that's okay, as they should beach because Ohio State is, I wouldn't say better, little bit a little bit more experienced, little bit older, but nonetheless, we're not here to talk about sports.
Promoting Social Media Engagement
00:06:08
Speaker
yeah, check all the shows. Check us out on the social medias, Facebook, Instagram, X. We're even on TikTok. um Shows are always live on the Facebook and YouTube channel, and you can listen to us wherever you listen to podcasts at.
00:06:20
Speaker
We are on all the podcasting platforms, and I am working on getting getting some of those caught up. And, you know, up to date and make some room in our, excuse me, stream yard library. Because we do a lot of shows and it's hard to keep up.
00:06:39
Speaker
But anywho, shout out to the chatter's box. What's going on, DJ Electra? Appreciate you stopping by and saying hello earlier. Wally's in the building. What's going on with you, brother? As the man says, smash that like, share, and subscribe button. home Yes, y'all.
00:06:58
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Like, share, and subscribe.
00:07:04
Speaker
I see nothing's going to work properly tonight. We're going to be on a little bit of a a little bit of a delay.
Diving into AI Music Trends
00:07:09
Speaker
Like, share, and subscribe. And that's what's cool to do with it. Cool.
00:07:18
Speaker
And, of course, ye what's going on, Zampius? What's going on with your brother? Hey, how about eat my asshole, Wally? How's that sound? but but but So anyways, books, house, music. You know, we're all about the music around here. I'm always talking to musicians or talking music or whatever the case may be. Well, there's a new trend. I mean, unless you've been living under a rock for the last month or so, maybe two months, um ah you should know what's going on with music. Obviously, AI is taking over the world. We've talked a lot about AI. I've talked to some of my former guests about AI music.
00:07:57
Speaker
I'm kind of torn.
00:08:01
Speaker
As a music fan, obviously, and this show is dedicated to independent artists and whatnot, obviously I want to support them and I want to help them grow. But at the same time, can't be mad at some of these AI covers and genre swaps and whatnot like that that's going on and that's happening.
00:08:23
Speaker
And I did, obviously, I mean, I brought, I got some music. I have a feeling that this is going to be, this is going to go beyond tonight's show, that I may download some more show or more music ah just kind to kind of play with it because it's crazy what they're doing and how they're doing it.
00:08:47
Speaker
i don't know, man. I'm going to dip my toes in the water and play around with it a little bit. I've got a couple of apps. as as I've said, you know, i'm no I'm no musician by no means. Do I like to sing? Yes. Can I sing? No. that's what I generally do it in the privacy of my vehicle or at home and and not in front of too many people.
00:09:12
Speaker
um So, but I can play around with the AI and have fun with that. But, um so for those of you guys who've So you don't know what I'm talking about. And I would love to get your guys' opinions on it.
00:09:26
Speaker
Mormon music. Is that your favorite?
00:09:32
Speaker
What's some of your favorite Mormon bands? I'm sure they're out there. sure there's bands that are Mormon that are out there. um As I said, like yeah i got i got some I got some music. I just went through. i found a couple that a couple few that I really liked tonight. There's going to lot of music tonight. A little bit of talk. ah Kind of...
00:09:50
Speaker
um You know, just kind of adding my two cents here and there. um But the genre swap, I think, is what it is. Not necessarily the AI music, because I'll be honest with you, when it comes to the AI music, the quote-unquote original content, a lot of it sounds the same, in my opinion, because you only have so many options.
00:10:12
Speaker
But to take a well-known song, like I'm going to start with Akon and Eminem's Smack That.
00:10:21
Speaker
And to like re-envision that into, as they've got labeled here, an 80s hard rock cover.
00:10:31
Speaker
And the picture cracks me up. So this is kind of what I'm talking about with the AI, what I'm digging right now. Up front.
00:10:53
Speaker
I feel you creeping, I can see you from my shadow. Wanna jump up in my Lamborghini glow.
00:11:20
Speaker
Go to my place and just kick it like Tybo. And possibly bend you over. Look back and watch me smack that all on the floor. Smack that. Give me some more.
00:11:31
Speaker
Smack that. Till you get sore. Smack that. Smack that. All on the floor. Smack that. Give me some more. Smack that. Till you get sore. Smack that.
00:11:41
Speaker
Oh. Up front style, ready to attack now Pulling the parking lot slow with the lag down Count dicks, got the whole thing packed now Step in club, the wardrobe intact now I feel it down and crack now I see it dull and back now I'm a caller, then I put the Mac down Money, no problem, pocket full of that now feel you creeping, can see you from now
00:12:07
Speaker
Maybe go to my place and just kick it like table and possibly bend you over. Look back and watch me. Smack that. All on the floor. Smack that.
00:12:24
Speaker
Snack that, give me some more Snack that, till you get sore Snack that, oh, oh, oh, oh Looks like another club banger They better hang on when they throw this thing on Get a little drink on, they gon' flip for this they conch You can bank on it Petticure, manicure, kitty cat claws The way she climbs up and down them paws Looking like one of them booty cat dolls Trying to hold my woody back to my drawers Steps off stage, didn't think I saw Creeps up behind me and she's like, yo I'm like, I know, let's cut to the chase No time to waste, back to my place Blood from the club to the crib Like a mile away more like a palace, shall I say And plus I got a pal if you got this game In fact, he's the one singing the song that's playing Acon!
00:13:06
Speaker
I feel you creeping, I can see you from my shadow Wanna jump up in my Lamborghini Gallardo Maybe go to my place and just kick it like Tabo Impossible
00:13:34
Speaker
Smack that, till you sore Smack that, oh M&M's rollin', D&M rollin', all marvelous rollin', women just hoin', big booty rollin' Soon I'll all and throwin' D-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E
00:13:57
Speaker
I can see you from my shadow Wanna jump up in my Lamborghini Gallardo Maybe go to my place and just kick it like Tabo And possibly bend you over Look, can watch me Smack that, all on the floor Smack that, give me some more Smack that, till you get so Smack that, oh Smack that, all on the floor Smack that, give me some more Smack that, till you get so Smack that, oh
00:14:50
Speaker
So right off the rip, my biggest critique with that is I feel like they could have slowed the voices down a little bit and changed the voices.
AI Music and Copyright Debate
00:14:58
Speaker
So I'm kind of, I got, I got like six, seven, eight songs, something like that tonight. And I kind of put them in order from where I thought, you know, I don't know, at least well-produced or done down to where they start getting better and better.
00:15:20
Speaker
I feel like they could have slowed that down a little better and done something a little bit more with the voices. There's so many options with AI anymore. ah And I've noticed that with a lot of the the rap songs that they try to do AI heavy metal covers to, or um they still have the voices or not. They're they're sped up.
00:15:39
Speaker
They change them, but they're sped up. mean, I know some artists out there that could do a heavy metal version of that song and actually kill it. And that's something else that I kind of hope you know These artists are, and rightfully so, upset with with AI music because there's a lot of music on these Spotify playlists and sh charts and stuff that's just ai at the end of the day.
00:16:05
Speaker
um But it's trending, man, and not all trends are pleasant. We don't like all the trends. We all know TikTok.
00:16:17
Speaker
All know TikTok very well. um Yeah, you you would work We're going to test those what We're going to test those waters tonight, Wally We're going to see You know, you shouldn't be able to But we're going to see what happens tonight, Bubba Okay Yes, ah you know A lot of country today as xphis i'm gonna i'm going to be trying to get through your guys' comments as well A lot of the country music today Is almost like there's a yeah There's a country music Script that you have to follow
00:16:50
Speaker
i I make fun of, even though I like his music, and I will listen to it, I make fun of Catfish Charlie, a.k.a. Luke Bryan. All of his songs are the same thing.
00:17:01
Speaker
He's got a pickup truck and some girl shaking her shaking her ass and they're drinking. Literally every song is the same thing. A lot of other bands or new country artists are are like that. It's just the same shit on repeat.
00:17:13
Speaker
Or they're completely 100% one hundred percent Ripping off old music and trying to put it out. I don't know if they're trying to put it out there as their own But you know, it's going out there like this new song. No, you really literally just took John Denver's Take Me Home or whatever and put like four or five different words into it and modernized it and it sounds like ass You bastardized it Ah, but jelly roll and somebody else did that with an old song
00:17:43
Speaker
They did together And then there's a couple other ones that are out there that are like that I can't think of off the top my head because generally as soon as I realize that it's not the actual song, I'm just disgusted and change change the song.
00:18:02
Speaker
Some red dirt in your playlist.
00:18:09
Speaker
Really? I didn't know that. What's going on, Jack? nursery rhymes, tons of train song, I Shagana, I may know it, it sounds for familiar, pop country is not real country, but that's the cool thing with this new AI, is that you're getting to see variations of music, ah like I said, popular songs, and you're getting to hear them in different genres, and some of them sound pretty badass at the end of the day,
00:18:39
Speaker
but Really. I'm not alive when most of their music... You sound like my grandpa. Give me Willie Whalen, Hank, and Cash. I mean, you're not wrong, but... Which Hank? Because there's about 90 of them now. Kind of like the Jennings name.
00:19:00
Speaker
Completely bastardized that. Milked that for every goddamn penny they can get out of it.
00:19:08
Speaker
Talking to Shooter. i think it's his name. He's always out with with Jelly Roll. Is that Shooter? Yeah. Yeah. Talking to you.
00:19:21
Speaker
Trouble, yeah. Struggle, whatever. It don't matter. They're all crap. Just milking a fucking name.
00:19:39
Speaker
Way out there, Zampias.
00:19:45
Speaker
but we're not here to talk about what you guys like tonight. We're talking about AI music. What's your guys' thoughts and opinions on it? I know you can't say you haven't heard it because it's literally everywhere. You can't scroll through TikTok for more than 30 seconds with hearing it without hearing some AI song that somebody's using for something.
00:20:07
Speaker
I'm going to play another one here. This is... ah We all know who Korn is. I'm a fan of Korn. I've got to see Korn a few times in concert.
00:20:20
Speaker
um Put on a hell of a show.
00:20:27
Speaker
Yes, you do, Zanfios. Yes, you do. You matter very much. Don't you forget that, buddy.
00:20:35
Speaker
Some of it's okay. Some of it's fire. I want to play some of it. and and Like I said, a couple of them just kind of grabbed because, you know, different examples. Some of them, I actually, i there's, there's one song I have tonight that I honestly, um, my camera's all out focus here.
00:20:52
Speaker
Uh, honestly, that, uh, kind of like this AI cover better than I like the original, not nothing against the original because the original is still amazing, but you don't, Wally.
00:21:03
Speaker
fifty But, uh, here's a, here's a different, uh, just imagine if, uh,
00:21:12
Speaker
Korn went a different route and did a different style of music. Something takes a part
00:21:41
Speaker
Something lost and never seen Every time I start to believe
00:21:51
Speaker
Something's ripped and taken from me
00:22:10
Speaker
I try to every night all in vain, in vain Sometimes I cannot take this place Sometimes it's my life I can't taste Sometimes I cannot feel my face You'll never see me fall from grace Something takes part
00:22:47
Speaker
A cheap freight for me to lay Something takes a part of me Feeling like a freak on a leash Feeling like I have no release How many times have I felt diseased?
00:23:11
Speaker
Nothing my life is free, is free
00:23:17
Speaker
Sometimes I cannot take this place. Sometimes it's my life can't taste. Sometimes I cannot feel my face.
00:23:31
Speaker
You'll never see me fall from grace.
00:23:45
Speaker
Meant to be a cheap freak for
00:24:32
Speaker
Something takes part of me. You and I were meant to be a cheap freight.
00:25:57
Speaker
There we go. A little technical difficulties, but we're back. Internet has been shit. I'll have to write those down, Zanfios. Yeah, not a bad little AI cover there of Korn's Freak Out of Lease. Just look up.
00:26:18
Speaker
Popcorn coming undone. Shouldn't have copyright. Slip spice with sulfur.
00:26:29
Speaker
17 shooters deep in here. Hmm. I'll have to look those up. I'll have to jot those down and look them up, Zampios. So, Wally, you had brought up the copyright thing earlier.
Legal Implications of AI Music
00:26:46
Speaker
And I wanted to kind of dive into that a little bit because
00:26:54
Speaker
There have been some of the big some of the big labels, like UMG, Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group. They have initiated lawsuits against a i music, um like Suno and Udio, arguing that the AI covers constitute ah derivative works and require permission from the original songwriter.
00:27:24
Speaker
But we've talked about covers before on this show with other artists that I've had on here. And a lot of times they say that they don't have to, because that was one of my questions is you have all these musicians that do all these covers, you know, how do you go about getting permissions and stuff like that?
00:27:42
Speaker
And they said one of the ways around it for them is the fact that they're changing the instruments around changing, you know, slight changes, slight tweaks. And they're able to get around those copyrights and the infringements and getting permissions and everything right like that.
00:27:58
Speaker
um And using like different styles um of instruments or whatnot.
00:28:09
Speaker
So where it stands right now, it's just kind of, like I said, they're just kind of initiated. Covers are legal. um
00:28:23
Speaker
But they that is something that's coming down the pipeline. At the end of the day, they are they are looking into maybe ah squashing down on these on these AI song generators.
00:28:38
Speaker
But at the same time, okay, you're not doing covers.
00:28:45
Speaker
I've done a couple of the And they're not good by no means. I mean, I'm not claiming to be a songwriter or anything like that, but you put a prompt in with ah some words and AI will write you an original song. Excuse me.
00:29:00
Speaker
I've done it here on this network for some of the shows, some of the intros. The intro for tonight, I did.
00:29:09
Speaker
But, you know, there's nothing stopping me from throwing that out there and letting the world hear it. and it may be becoming popular and blowing up. And, you know, next thing you know, old AI Glicks over here on the charts. Trending number one.
00:29:33
Speaker
Well, it's not so much that you cover it. When you put out a song, ah you know, you can go any any Joe Schmocha go into a bar and do whatever song they want.
00:29:44
Speaker
But when you put it out for monetary gain and stuff like that, it's ah its a different ballgame. It's a different ballpark. you know You're throwing it up on your YouTube channel because you're a musician or you're putting it on an album, stuff like that.
00:29:57
Speaker
you know you you That's when you start to touch into the copyright, copy infringements and and stuff like that. or you know I found that when I first started doing this show,
00:30:11
Speaker
And I wanted to play music. Obviously, I couldn't go and play the original artist because of copyright stuff. um So I was finding a lot of covers.
00:30:23
Speaker
And that's where I got the... What's going on, Mandy? How you doing? That's where I got the idea to... I mean, it was something that I always wanted to do with this show to begin with, but that's where it kind of pushed me in the direction I went to with the independent artist.
00:30:37
Speaker
ah Because I came I was coming across so many really good musicians that um You know, they got popular or they blew up because they did a cover song Nobody's really listening to any of their original work and they're doing really good stuff. So, you know, that's kind of where the the whole concept of doing interviews um
00:31:01
Speaker
it's It's a different world. It's ah it's a different it's a different realm when do you go to a bar and you're playing a bar game as opposed to um That's why you have somebody... you know vanilla Ice went through it with Queen.
00:31:16
Speaker
um And there was one just one minor bink that he put in and in a song. And he was able to... um think Ed Sheeran had something um that happened with him. I think it was Ed Sheeran.
00:31:32
Speaker
um And, I mean, fucking Greta Van Fleet is basically a Led Zeppelin ripoff, let's be honest. ah But you change something just a little different, just just a little bit.
00:31:45
Speaker
And you can, you know, but that's why the copyright's there. Because you don't want people just stealing your stuff and putting it out there and doing whatever the hell they want with it.
00:32:05
Speaker
But for Frank and Jesse to go down to a local bar and make $75 and get a bar tab for the night, I don't think i don't think musicians are going to care that much that they're doing covers of Bon Jovi and Journey.
00:32:20
Speaker
but You know, they're not going to come and break somebody's balls for ah that at the old old old local dive bar.
00:32:34
Speaker
Because that's what a lot of the, quota back in the day, they were called garage bands. you know They just got to play local gigs around their neighborhood, and that's all they really did. i mean, they might have one or two originals, but that's all they really did was was covers.
00:32:52
Speaker
It's all about doing the dance, man. butre We're talking about AI. We're talking about AI covers. Not Frank and Jesse down to the local dive bar.
00:33:11
Speaker
But Like I said I mean they're fun I'm enjoying them You know Like This next one kills me That I got for you guys It's Cisco's Thong Song
00:33:30
Speaker
Yeah It's probably not meant to be done this way But why not
00:34:05
Speaker
That girl's so scandalous, and you know another nigga couldn't handle it. So you're shaking that thing like, who's the ish? With the look in your eyes, so devilish. You like to dance all the hip-hop spots, and you cruise to the grooves like an acrobat. Not just her bench, she liked to pop, cause she was living like Vida Loca.
00:34:21
Speaker
She had dumps like truck, truck, truck, truck. Thighs like what, what, what, what. Baby, move your butt, butt, butt, butt. I think I'll sing it again. She had dumps like truck, truck. Thighs like what, what.
00:34:34
Speaker
All night long. Let me see that thong. That thong. That thong. That thong.
00:34:53
Speaker
That girl so scandalous And I know another nigga couldn't handle it And she's shaking that thing like, who's the itch? With the look in her eye so devilish She liked dance, all the hip-hop spots And she cruised to the grooves like an acrobat Not just her bench, she liked to pop Cause she was living la vida loca She had jumps like a truck, truck, truck, truck I was like what, what, what, baby move your butt, butt, butt, butt I think I'll sing it again, she had jumps like a truck, truck, truck, truck I was like what, what, what, all night long Let me see that though
00:35:33
Speaker
Baby, that song goes on, go, go I like it when the beat goes I like it when the beat goes That song goes on, go, go Come on Baby, that song goes on, go
00:36:00
Speaker
Baby Baby Baby make your booty goty go Listen I said I like the way Baby I don't think you heard me Baby see you funny
00:37:04
Speaker
Nothing like old preacher man in the choir covering Cisco Thumb. Yeah. this is You know, Zampius, to kind of touch a little more on that, on the copyright, and it is, I agree with you 100%, man.
00:37:19
Speaker
It really is a great area. it's It is, and and we've and we've dealt with it here. ah You know, I'm sure it's a lot of other YouTube channels, but we've dealt with it here, whether it be playing music or music.
00:37:32
Speaker
sound clips or video clips, movie clips, whatever the case may be. um but here But here's the thing, and and and this is another thing that, you know, there's a lot of YouTube channels that are out there that just started very not too long ago.
00:37:48
Speaker
And ah this is what they're doing. And they're amassing a huge following very quickly, and we all know on YouTube you have the opportunity to monetize.
00:38:01
Speaker
So... when you're using other songs, even though you're completely changing them, I mean, 100% changing them, where does that kind of draw the line where a YouTube channel that is doing the AI can then file a copyright infringement on other YouTubers or other people for using their AI-generated song?
00:38:25
Speaker
Google. GoobTube. um no I appreciate you being here, man. I appreciate you popping in on the other shows as well. so it's you are becoming popular and and and growing a fan base based off of other people's music that all you did was literally go onto an app on your phone or on your laptop and say 50 soul rock voice whatever you know and completely change the saga um
00:39:02
Speaker
But it's a fun toy to play with. And, you know, as as fans, we kind of be creative and experiment and hear, you know, the unique reinterpretations of these songs that I would have never thought about what the thong song sounded like with the 1950s church choir behind it now i'd only want to Now I want to listen to that. I won't say i don't want to listen to the original because you know I'm old and and and nothing beats the original at the end of the day.
00:39:38
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, you man, it's it's starting to get into a weird area of who does this belong to and are you infringing on creative rights of the writers and and the original singers or is it something that's falls under a loophole with it being a cover?
AI Music's Impact on Industry
00:40:09
Speaker
Yeah, fuck residuals. They made contract money. Hey, man, I said that shit back in the day with Napster. I mean, this is kind of where we're heading into. where where we're We're starting to tiptoe into a new generation of Napster.
00:40:20
Speaker
When Metallica lost their fucking mind, there were pennies. Because people, you know, nowadays Metallica's, for nosebleeds, you got to spend $500 to hear their shitty music.
00:40:32
Speaker
and and And they threw a fit in the late 90s early 2000s over fucking Napster and it was pennies you made your money now I know a lot of people say that there's not a lot of money in those contracts because yes, I give you a big large lump sum right up front But then you've got all these things that you have to do and you're not really making much money after that, but a lot of these bands also album sales really aren't a thing anymore because you got all your You know your streaming platforms and a lot of people are download music that way and whatever And those platforms pay amount of dollars for the copyrights and da-da-da-da-da, you know, so they can, not necessarily for the copyrights, but so they have permission to to distribute the music.
00:41:17
Speaker
Henceforth, why we have to pay $15 a month for Spotify or $15 a month for YouTube so we can listen to all the music we want, whenever we want, however we want, with no questions asked.
00:41:33
Speaker
but but yeah Do like them cut your hair shave and start crying. Yes Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's exactly what they did um but i kind of lost my training i thought I Know I was going somewhere with that. and I just fell off the wagon but any But yeah, I mean man it is it is a world of
00:42:02
Speaker
you can do whatever the hell you want with it, but also at the same time, when does it start to become ticky tacky? Um, you know, a lot of, and a lot of people are are starting to use it commercially. Uh, you know, artists and producers, they're creating beats and stuff like that. And if you create an AI beat, then can that become yours to where you can file? i don't see why you couldn't.
00:42:30
Speaker
Um, but they're creating demos and soundscapes or
00:42:38
Speaker
official license. like I could license um the intros to to our shows. you know They were created with AI, but you know they're quote unquote commercial use down the road. If that's something that we decide to pursue or proceed with as we as we grow and in shows keep doing start doing more and more,
00:43:08
Speaker
be ah Yeah, we got a little soft in there But I mean there's some artists that are that are actually having fun with it and taking advantage of it and um You know, they're they're even allowing their fans to use their voice or use use
00:43:28
Speaker
For a you know to do things And if they are making money off of it, a 50% royalty. Why not? i mean if i yeah but um I don't think to steal a term from um but from an old friend of ours, not because you're old, Rich, but you're an old friend of ours. Shekels.
Creative Freedom with AI Music
00:43:49
Speaker
Making some making some shekels.
00:43:54
Speaker
Throw a couple your way because you allowed us to use your voice and you're not. Poo-pooing on us for having a good time playing around with that e with AI. That's eventually going to take over the world and enslave us all. But, you know, that's neither here nor there.
00:44:16
Speaker
So i ah play ah I'm going to play you guys another one. I think this is great. I think this is great. I believe that this... My opinion, i mean, I love the original. Don't get me wrong. I always listen to the original because I'm a huge fan of this band. But, I mean, this is a pretty badass AI cover of this song.
00:44:37
Speaker
Anyway, it's a long intro, though. But let me know what you guys think.
00:46:16
Speaker
I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night There she stood in the doorway
00:47:19
Speaker
She got the Mercedes Benz. She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys. That she calls friends. How they dance in the courtyard.
00:47:31
Speaker
Sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember. Some dance to forget. So I call up the cab.
00:47:47
Speaker
We haven't had that spirit here since 1969 And still those voices are calling from far away Wake you up in the middle of the night Just to hear them say Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place Such a lovely place
00:48:20
Speaker
What a nice surprise.
00:49:00
Speaker
The mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice. And she said we are all just prisoners here of our own device.
00:49:14
Speaker
And in the master's chambers, they gathered for the feast. They stabbed it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast.
00:49:29
Speaker
I was running the door. I had to find the passage back to the place I was before.
00:50:22
Speaker
It's badass. Did you guys catch that? You guys caught that. Great. When you listen to these AI songs, yes. I'm pretty sure he did say Telepornia. When you listen to these AI songs, kind of like in the first one that I played, they mispronounced Taibo.
00:50:42
Speaker
I think they say Taibo or something like that. But a lot of these AI, it's the same thing when you just where You just play with AI and create, it they mispronounce things or they kind of blur things together. but It's not perfect yet.
00:51:03
Speaker
But it's still a kick-ass, ah
00:51:09
Speaker
it's still a pretty kick-ass cover, nonetheless. I mean, Could you imagine talking about the Eagles in the same breath as you were talking about, like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, even old school Metallica, Dio or whatever, if Eagles were a or a heavy metal band, so to say?
00:51:35
Speaker
um I think that's, like I said, I think that's the but one of the reasons I'm having the most fun and enjoying this AI experience. music, this new trend with the covers, it's because you get to hear what some of your favorite songs may sound like differently.
00:51:56
Speaker
Or, you know, even
00:52:01
Speaker
say, for instance, Dave Mustaine wrote Hotel California hor and he was the one singing it.
00:52:12
Speaker
It's kind of crazy to think about.
00:52:24
Speaker
Oh, dude. Zampius, we've played so much of Leo's music on here. Leo's badass, dude. Yeah, we've we've played so much of his music on this network. oh I was trying to get him on at one point in time.
00:52:39
Speaker
He's a very busy guy. Very, very busy guy. Um, dude, that guy makes some killer fucking music.
00:52:53
Speaker
Uh, there's, there's a button. Like I said, that's, that's kind of where my idea to start going with the direction with the interviews was based off of lot of these artists doing some insanely good covers of songs and doing them differently. Kind of what AI is doing, but you're able to, I mean, there's, just I don't even know how many fucking channels that I'm sure there's hundreds of them out there on YouTube just in the last few months.
00:53:21
Speaker
And that's literally all people are doing. They are creating these AI covers. There's a couple that that that we actually follow on our YouTube channel. I think one's called culture, culture mix.
00:53:32
Speaker
And all the guy does is a lot of like fifties and sixties, Motown soul covers of, of rap and ra rap a little little rap and rock songs.
00:53:43
Speaker
They also do mix in some 80s hair metal covers of R&B music and stuff like that. So, yeah, I mean, it's... yeah that's ai but AI is able to do it and put so much more out there at a much faster rate.
00:54:02
Speaker
um But, again, ah there's artists out there that... Leo's one of those guys. I mean, he's turned everything into, like, a heavy metal cover. It's insane.
00:54:16
Speaker
there's ah There's a guy out there and his name escapes me right now. It'll come to me down the road. I've got some of his music in the media. ah He does covers and he turns it into like this ah the theatrical rock like Dio and Meatloaf and whatnot. did That's what all of his stuff sounds like.
00:54:36
Speaker
And he's amazing at it.
00:54:44
Speaker
But I'm trying to...
00:54:50
Speaker
Yeah, listen me. I'm trying to stick to a time frame here. I'm trying to stay on top of things. Rock Lee. Lee's high. mean, he does high. Not bad. I'll listen to it if I get better to listen to.
00:55:09
Speaker
No, Rocky could 100%. And Rocky does do... I'm just playing Rocky, by the way. Those are jokes. So people don't get jokes out there in the world. So let me clarify that that's a joke. Rocky's amazing and Rocky knows how I feel about him. ah And Rocky can 100% do anything. I mean, the dude can do anything on the fly too. That's the crazy thing.
00:55:32
Speaker
ah I called him out one night. He disappeared for 10 minutes and showed up with a goddamn rock cover of Britney Spears' ah Baby One More Time, which was insane.
00:55:45
Speaker
That just speaks volumes for the for the talent that Rocky has. um I got a few more songs here. Like I said, I think i think as we go, you know, hopefully you guys are liking them Hopefully you guys are liking them. I want to get your thoughts and opinions. Those of you that are watching, don't be shy. The chatterbox is open. You know, everybody's welcome. Definitely get your opinion. here's a um They call this a soft rock, 2000 soft rock cover.
00:56:16
Speaker
Of a very popular R&B quartet. I don't think they're a quartet anymore. i think there's only three of them. You'll know this song.
00:57:05
Speaker
Girl, you know we belong together I'm not a son of a preacher, man, I like this
00:58:05
Speaker
I just break down and cry. Pain in my head, oh, I'd rather Spending my all you, my love, my love. gonna go to the end of the road.
00:58:17
Speaker
Still can't let you go.
00:58:30
Speaker
You belong to me.
00:58:56
Speaker
Girl, I know you've been in love with me You just don't really
01:00:18
Speaker
It's a natural law
01:00:50
Speaker
That was pretty badass coverage. A rock version of that. um Sasquatch? No. It's awesome. that his watchtes up ah Rick and the All-Nighters. I've seen them on YouTube quite a bit.
01:01:07
Speaker
um They're pretty cool. I dig it. I dig what they do. They do a bunch of ah ah was it like covers from the fifty s and i think stuff like that.
01:01:19
Speaker
And I also believe that their drummer's crazy. He is an animal. back there um
01:01:32
Speaker
Kind of tiptoe back over into the...
01:01:42
Speaker
this is kind of an ethical debate that's going on with the AI covers and shit like that. And kind of get your guys' opinion here. If you would like to add your two cents. Um, so it's kind of fueling a debate about the ethics of using artists likeness and their, and their voice, um, without their consent, especially like deceased ones, Elvis, because as I was scrolling through and and looking um,
01:02:11
Speaker
um songs for tonight and whatnot, there were artists in there like Johnny Cash and Elvis, and and they were doing like covers of Metallica, but they were using their voice and their likeness,
01:02:30
Speaker
or which is something that's been going on for a hot while now with the deep fakes, misusing the likeness and the voices for generating controversial content, but nonetheless, um, I guess that's something else people are kind of worried about. Uh, you know, there are some cool covers out there, you know, Johnny Cash doing things, Elvis, Buddy Holly, you know, um, Sammy Davis Jr., Sinatra, whatever the case may be, deceased artist. I mean, I think they've done whole ass, uh, Tupac songs with, with, with his likeness, like new songs.
01:03:09
Speaker
The sound just like old school Pac, but mean, didn't know any better, you'd probably think, oh, yeah, it's just like Prince, who had 30,000 fucking songs that were never released. by but but the But here we are. Is it AI or is Prince's estate actually releasing some of this music?
01:03:28
Speaker
We'll never know. Is it wrong? Is it right? Or we to decide.
01:03:39
Speaker
But think about that. going to play some more music.
01:03:48
Speaker
One of my favorites. I didn't know how I was going to feel about this. Garth Brooks. You guys know I'm a huge fan of Garth Brooks. Garth Brooks is a hard guy to find music for.
01:03:59
Speaker
You can't find Garth Brooks on YouTube or just anywhere. oh He only allows his music on certain platforms.
01:04:13
Speaker
To reimagine his music and... play with his music and put it out there i'm kind of curious to see how that goes because he he has put in a lot of time and money and energy and i'm assuming money to keep his music off of all the platforms
01:04:34
Speaker
but nonetheless it's not really him singing and it's not country this is a heavy metal version of friends in low places excuse me
01:05:39
Speaker
I showed up in booms and ruined your black tie affair.
01:05:48
Speaker
The last one to know, the last one to show I was the last one you thought you'd see there.
01:07:00
Speaker
I just don't belong, but then I've been there before. Everything's alright.
01:07:11
Speaker
I'll just say goodnight and I'll show
01:07:25
Speaker
Just give me an hour and then Well, I'll be as high as an ivory tower that you're living in Cause I got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away And I'll be like, oh, God
01:07:49
Speaker
social graces think i'll slip on down to the oasis
01:08:26
Speaker
in low places where the whiskey drowns and beer chases my blues away and i'll be okay yeah i'm not big on social graces thing i'll slip on down to the oasis oh
01:08:48
Speaker
Yeah, I got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases My blues away, and I'll be okay Yeah, I'm not big on social graces Think I slip on down to the oasis Oh, I got friends in low places
01:10:00
Speaker
Maybe Garth Brooks should have done rock music. yeah That's a badass cover. There are rock bands out there, real-life rock bands that have done rock covers of of country songs before. Garth Brooks being one of those. There is and there is actually um i don't know if it was State of Mind or i can never remember that other one. and I think they've done a cover of Thunder Rolls and it was fucking badass Wally.
01:10:36
Speaker
But um I mean there are bands out there that are doing this. and and And I enjoy that just as much. Obviously, it's what I've played a lot of. Zamfiros, I appreciate you the chat, bro. Y'all's fingers broke. Hey, man, some people are just lawyers. They like to watch.
01:10:52
Speaker
Maybe they're shy. Maybe they're shy. I got a little nickelback sound, too. Yeah, I mean, you know, a little bit there. But nonetheless, pretty badass cover.
01:11:07
Speaker
it's Like I said, man, take the AI for what it's worth. Don't don't take it too serious. Don't don't take it...
01:11:16
Speaker
i mean, is it is it... Could it replace music? Artists? I mean, maybe. If they allow it.
01:11:29
Speaker
I mean, that's just an honest
Future of AI in Music and Entertainment
01:11:33
Speaker
opinion. Honest truth. I mean, yeah, it 100% could. But I think there's more than enough artists out there, real-life people that are doing real-life music, real-life music, writing, playing, everything like that. But this is just going to be a fad that kind of โ it'll go away in time. i mean, there are um there are ai bands that are trending on Spotify.
01:11:59
Speaker
There's a couple โ there's a couple few of them. There's one that's all over โ all over Tick-Tick, and all they do is like out outlaw country music. um And I'll tell you what, I've been fooled by a couple of them. I'm like, damn, who the hell is this? And then you look at did you go look at their page and look at their social media and realize they're not even real.
01:12:20
Speaker
It's just AI-generated music and an AI-generated band. was like, God damn it. don't want talk to some fucking nerd is sitting on his laptop making kick-ass music.
01:12:36
Speaker
ah Yeah, AI movies, man. And and and i mean that's not really a conversation for this show. It's a conversation for Friday nights. But um just recently, the first AI actress, like movie star, I can't remember what her name was, made her ah made her her Hollywood debut or whatever. I don't know.
01:13:01
Speaker
it's It's weird. ah but it'serial It's cereal. It's super cereal It really is um Life's not that serious guys just enjoy it like I'm gonna let you enjoy this next song and it it again, man, I I'm not the biggest band fan of this band um Yeah, they got some kick-ass songs
01:13:32
Speaker
I personally feel like they've always been a little bit overrated. But that's just my opinion. That was just my opinion. Don't take it that personal. You can like them. You can love them if you want to.
01:13:44
Speaker
I don't care. um But this is a soul jazz blues cover of ACDC's You Shook Me All Night Long.
01:13:59
Speaker
And I kind of dig it because I'm a sucker for that blues guitar. I am. I'm an absolute, I'll listen to it anytime, anyplace for hours. It's got a really cool opening.
01:15:39
Speaker
Was the best damn woman that I ever seen She had the sightless eyes Telling me no lies Knocking me off the toes on my rickin' pads Taking more than a share Hadn't fightin' for
01:16:11
Speaker
She told me to come, but I was already there. Cause the world stopped shaking, the wood was quaking, my mind was aching and we were making.
01:16:45
Speaker
Double time on the seduction
01:16:52
Speaker
She's one new she's just man Oh, man. Oh, no, no, no,
01:17:24
Speaker
Back in the ring To take another swing That the walls were shaking That wood was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it And you shot me All night long Yeah,
01:17:49
Speaker
you shot me All night long
01:17:58
Speaker
Knocked me off, I said you shook me all night long
01:18:06
Speaker
You had me shaking and you shook me all night long Oh, yeah, you shook me Well, you took me
01:20:19
Speaker
Hell yeah. Probably better than the original. I said it. Deal with it. Well, Wally, you could say that. But as the dude once said, like that's just your opinion, man.
01:20:35
Speaker
And we're all allowed to be wrong.
01:20:41
Speaker
I wouldn't even put ACDC and it'd be hard to keep them out the top 10 greatest rock bands of all time. But I could probably figure out a way to keep them out of the top 10.
01:20:53
Speaker
I definitely keep them out of the top five. In my opinion, you know, some may agree, some may disagree. um I think that's that that's a really cool cover. That's what I want to do. I just want to play around and turn shit into blues music at the end of the day. I just want to make everything blues just to see what it's ah what it sounds like. in ah The band was the greatest.
01:21:23
Speaker
then Sanfios is going to argue with you right there, right off the rip, man, right off the rip, buddy.
01:21:32
Speaker
And I got one more for you, and then we're going to go ahead and close this bad boy down. i will say that here in the upcoming user, we met her Saturday night, DJ Electra Fly, Fry, sorry, Fry.
01:21:48
Speaker
ah the shoping um she will be joining me one night and she does a lot of the ai music and and whatnot uh to carry on this yes dj elektra rye there we go i had that right right there she is uh you guys can give her a follow on the youtubes and whatnot uh she's gonna be joining me either next week or here coming up very soon we're gonna do uh we're just gonna talk a little bit about the ai music she does it um She creates some. She plays with it. She's got a couple channels that they do a lot of the AI music on.
01:22:24
Speaker
So, you know, I think it to be cool to talk to somebody who does it and has a channel. And, you know, they're decent-sized YouTube channel, so they they're they're growing and doing their thing and see her spin on it and get her her um opinion with the AI music and and and where it's going and everything like that.
01:22:45
Speaker
And I agree you. Like you said, well, it gives guys like us a chance to make music we can't get in trouble for. Well, I mean, all in evidence allows us to be a little bit creative and have a little bit of fun. Um, you know, whether we're creating stuff for ourselves or, um, you know we're playing around like a lot of people are doing right now and creating covers.
01:23:05
Speaker
Uh, there are a lot of apps out there on your phone that you can get and you can download. Not only that, but you can also record your own voice. Um, I've got a couple that I'm going to play with here coming up.
01:23:18
Speaker
But you can record your own voice. You read a couple paragraphs ah that or you do your own little impromptu thing, whatever. ah You riff a little bit and then they take your voice and whether you do covers with it or you do your own quote unquote original stuff with it.
01:23:37
Speaker
you know I'm going to play around with it and see what kind of stuff I can come up with just for just for shits and grins. You know? It would be cool if I can create an intro for a song with my voice.
01:23:51
Speaker
don't know. Maybe, know, maybe I can use that to get into the music world. Fuck this podcast and bullshit. I'm going to go be a singer. An AI singer. ah
01:24:07
Speaker
But I'm going to one more and then I'm going to get the flock out of here. This happens to be like one of my I'm a huge fan of Corey Taylor. please send their Slipknot, Stone Sour, whatnot, bunch other stuff that he's done on his own.
01:24:22
Speaker
But somebody did a cover
01:24:29
Speaker
of Slipknot Snuff, and it's 1960s Motown Soul version. Kind of digging it. Kind of digging it.
01:24:53
Speaker
Bury all your secrets in my skin.
01:25:00
Speaker
Come away with innocence and leave me with my sins. The air around me still feels like a cave.
01:25:15
Speaker
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again So if you love let me go And run away before I know My heart is just too dark to care I can't destroy what isn't there Deliver me into my fate If I'm alone, I cannot hate.
01:25:47
Speaker
I don't deserve to have you. Oh, my smile was taken long ago. If I can change, I hope I never know.
01:26:10
Speaker
I still press your letters to my lips
01:26:17
Speaker
And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss couldn't face a life without your life
01:26:32
Speaker
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight. So save your breath. I will not hear.
01:26:43
Speaker
I think I made it very clear. You couldn't hate enough to love. Is that supposed to be enough?
01:26:58
Speaker
Then I could hurt you in the end. I never claimed to saint. Ooh, my own was banished long ago.
01:27:12
Speaker
Ooh, it took the death of hope to let you go.
01:27:47
Speaker
So break yourself against my stones And spit your pity in my soul You never needed any help You sold me out to save yourself And I won't listen to your shame You ran away, you're all the same Angels lie to keep control
01:28:23
Speaker
If you still care, don't ever let me know. If you still care, don't ever let me know.
01:29:32
Speaker
Oh yeah. Badass, badass. Guys, let me know what you think. I'm actually thinking about doing this again, where it's more just playing the music and kind of talking about the covers.
01:29:44
Speaker
I've had fun listening to them. I've been listening to a lot of the AI covers. Um, maybe I go back to doing a little, a little DJ and in between guests, or as I'm working on booking guests and, and whatnot.
01:29:59
Speaker
Um, let me go Let me know if you guys want to hear some more AI covers. If you're watching the replay, go ahead and drop a comment in the comment section.
01:30:10
Speaker
If ah you know you're listening on the Spotify or wherever, send us a message. Let me know. ah Zampius, the Slip Spice is awesome. I kind of listened to it a little bit. And to be honest with you, to feel the curtain back a little bit, That's another project that I want to start working on is the mashups because that's nothing that's new.
01:30:29
Speaker
It's been around for a little while, and I think it's really cool concept the way they mash up songs. Just this another one of those gray areas that we were talking about earlier where I have to kind of be careful for what I do and what I play um because some of it can get me in trouble with the old YouTube police-y's.
