 Dungeon Problems Actual Play!

A group of Adventurers have come to the throne of the Spirit of Quandry, hoping to solve their puzzles in exchange for a price, their heart's greatest desire. The Spirit greets them, "Welcome Curiosity Seekers, I hope you have come with questions to answer and puzzles to explore." They say with a voice that seems to come from all directions. "You have all come with a desire in mind. Only by solving my quandary will you find that which puzzles your life. Something is terribly wrong in the village of Ghosthaven. People have turned up dead and so far the only thing to blame is an ancient curse. All I can say to you is 'Daring adventurers relish intriguing opportunities to absolve.' "

The Conclusion of the Dungeons of Quandry: Ghost Haven is here! Is the party able to beat this strange monster and figure out what has cursed the village?

Introduction & Final Episode Announcement

00:00:00
Speaker
Bye.
00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome, my friends, to this episode of Dungeon Problems, the Dungeons of Quandary. This might be the final episode, so I'm going to say it's going to be the final episode, and that will make it happen. So my players today are trying to tackle the Dungeons of Quandary. They've been tasked with figuring out what's going on in this strange town or village, and they have their suspicions. Today, we are once again joined by maybe the final time.
00:00:30
Speaker
our players. We're going to start off with the gentleman to the side of me, who is a chaotic human being.

Character Introductions

00:00:38
Speaker
Hello, I am Chris, your chaotic player and dungeon master from the Chaos Den, and tonight I am playing Hispos Akobeen, an artificer minotaur. Awesome, and then we're going to go right down to everyone's favorite man of mystery and meat.
00:00:59
Speaker
Hi, I'm Mr. Baca. I am today playing Chuck Brightwick. He is a plasmoid bard that is made from meat and wax. And then we're going to go over to our druid friend whose wild shape almost scared everyone and whose scent of smell completely changed what my plans were.
00:01:23
Speaker
I'm Natalie, also known as Veers, and I am, yes, a human druid. And I like to wild shit because, you know, I'm the circle of the moon and that's just what I have to do. I'm tech cast. I'm telling you. And then last, but certainly not least, the impeccable, the remarkable, the amazing, who does not ask for free drinks when she goes into a coffee shop. We have.
00:01:50
Speaker
Hi, I'm Ghibli. I am playing the Tiefling bard slash influencer, Glenda Goodwich. You can also find Ghibli on GhibliJam at twitch.tv slash GhibliJam, where she does GhibliJammy stuff.

Investigating Town Mysteries

00:02:07
Speaker
So unlike the previous three episodes where I cursed my players with finding, doing the recap, it has been what, two weeks since we last played? About, uh, I'm going to do the recap because I've been listening to all the episodes and editing.
00:02:27
Speaker
So it's all very fresh up here, although I'm also insane, so it could have just been the voices in my head. We have come to this village. You guys are trying to seek out what's causing a variety of things. Depression, poor crops, a birth rate that is non-existent, and you have spoken to several of the townsfolk.
00:02:52
Speaker
You spoke to Dariota, the young girl who you suspect there's something wrong with her. You spoke to the mayor, Shaddox, who has been helpful and not helpful at the same time. You spoke to Solomon, his name is now Judea, because that's what we messed up so much, but it was originally pronounced something else, and he's dead.
00:03:19
Speaker
He's been killed by our very own Hispos.

Battle for the Golden Dagger

00:03:24
Speaker
Whoops. You guys tracked a strange smell to his church and once there Hispos began to hallucinate a genie in front of him and he killed him. You've investigated now
00:03:39
Speaker
three of the deaths almost. You investigated the stuck corpse in the graveyard and you found a journal that spoke of Dariota and potentially an entity taking over her for the Lord of Liars. You investigated the dead body that wasn't actually inside the general goods store, which is now the general sad store. Was it sad or bad?
00:04:09
Speaker
bad bad the general bad store was the general sad store the general sad store and you found footprints in there you also found a secret chamber dedicated to the lord of liars and you
00:04:27
Speaker
Our good friend Veers smelled someone underneath there, alerted you guys as the trapdoor began to shut and you escaped just in time. And the most recent thing was you investigated the fountain of the
00:04:42
Speaker
founder of the village, Koled Itna. And as you saw this puzzle around the fountain, it began to move and point towards the houses in the north. And as it finished its movement, the sword on the statue popped open, revealing a golden dagger. And as Hispos reached up for that golden dagger, he suddenly felt an incredible fight on his arm.
00:05:09
Speaker
and this creature appeared. Its fur was the color of the stonework around you guys. It had these sharp razor fangs, two in its upper jaw and two in its lower jaw, and a tail that ended in a stinger. And so now we have the puzzle of battle.
00:05:42
Speaker
Sure amounts have never grown And winds are to the spider Darkness fills up empty pools And times are none less vital What we're here for is mysteries But puzzles yet unsolved So sad secrets lost to history Has not your problems solved alone?
00:06:04
Speaker
Dungeon zoom, problem zoom, puzzle zoom to solve them all. Dungeon zoom, problem zoom, puzzle zoom to solve them all.

Victory & Reflection

00:06:43
Speaker
to solve. So we're going to roll some initiative and see if you guys can survive this strange creature. It's about the size of a small pony. We sure are slow on the uptake.
00:07:05
Speaker
Well, I just got bitten, okay? I'm a little preoccupied. All right. Well, Veers, I'm going to say you're about 20 feet behind Chuck. This beast is right next to him. It's standing kind of at the top of the fountain there, a couple steps that go up the fountain. It's like kind of an elevated rise, but it's not like aggressively elevated. So you're about 25 feet away from this creature.
00:07:36
Speaker
Not to interrupt, but has it been more than one hour since I've given my motivational speech? You gave that right in the church at the end. I'll say no. It took you probably about 10 minutes to walk to the center of the village. And then solving the puzzle itself was another 10 minutes.
00:07:57
Speaker
Okay, I'm just gonna pop that into chat. Just make sure you guys still have your temp HP. And if you get hit the next thing that you hit after you get hit, you would have advantage. So sorry, sorry to cut you off yours. No, no worries. I would like to bust out my stamp of swarming insect. Okay, what are you gonna do with that?
00:08:24
Speaker
I am going to, you know, cast a... No, not that one. Back up. Let's do Insect Plague. It's a 20-foot radius. Can I isolate it just on the baddie? All right, give me a perception check before you do that.
00:08:53
Speaker
Okay, um, that would be 11.
00:08:58
Speaker
Okay, so you guys are in kind of an open area and you're looking around. You don't see any villagers nearby in the houses within that kind of range or the general bad store. There is the collapsed brother of the farmer. He's still just sitting there in front of the general bad store, but you can angle it to avoid Hispose. So what does insect plague do?
00:09:27
Speaker
Okay, so in this 20 foot sphere radius, it is difficult terrain, and when it appears, each creature in it must make a constitution saving throw. 15. It is going to save, but just barely.
00:09:46
Speaker
Uh, half damage on a save. So 40, 10 divided by two, it will take damage. Roll that 40, 10. All right. So 11 damage piercing.
00:10:09
Speaker
These insects start biting away at this creature as they swarm this entire area. I'm guessing it lasts for an hour, a minute or 10 minutes, 10 minutes. So all these variety of bugs and
00:10:27
Speaker
Just different flying insects come flying throughout the air at your call And you see that it's they're severely annoying this this beast But it seems to also be doing all right Do you have a bonus action you'd like to do? I Will wild shape
00:10:52
Speaker
As a circle of the moon, I can wow shape as a bonus action. Moon bonus action. And that would be my turn. All right, we got Glenda up next. Okay. How far away am I from the creature in Hispos? You're probably standing right next to Veers. So around 25 feet.
00:11:22
Speaker
Okay, do I have to do a perception check or an insight or something to see how badly damaged Hispos is? Yeah, give me a medicine check. Three plus medicine is two, five.
00:11:42
Speaker
So unfortunately, the way his arm was outstretched was away from you, and now he's probably holding it close to his body, staunching a little bit of blood, so you can't see. You heard him cry out, I'm assuming, although Hispos is a big, strong Minotaur, so maybe he didn't utter a sound. He uttered a sound. He uttered a sound. Okay.
00:12:08
Speaker
So you know he's been hurt, but you're not sure how much. All right. I'm not going to heal him. I think his post can take care of himself. Instead, I'm going to cast Thunderclap cantrip behind the creature because it's a five foot
00:12:32
Speaker
radius yeah so the problem that I'm having is I would have to get closer I'm gonna move closer so I can I can do it it actually emanates from me so I what I need to do is I need to stand behind the creature so that the creature gets hit but his post does not
00:12:49
Speaker
Um, and I'm going to just clap and very sarcastically be like, good job, you stupid idiot. Talking to the creature and, um, it's going to make a thunderous sound. Uh, the creature has to make a consave DC 15. The, the, the swarming insects. Yes. So the swarming insects, kind of like Hispo standing wall of swarming insects, dome of swarming insects, then monster. Ah.
00:13:18
Speaker
So in order to hit the monster, you're either going to have to enter the swarming insects or hit his posts. OK, you know what? In retrospect, I will just do a vicious mockery to the creature and I'm going to do the same sarcastic shit, but this time I'm not going to do a thunderclap that would also injure the insects. And this will be a whiz save DC 15.
00:13:46
Speaker
It is going to fail the Wizz safe. Yes. OK, so it will be 2d4. Three and two, five points of psychic damage, and it will have disadvantage on its next attack roll. All right, five. You hear a soft whimper coming from inside the insect cloud. So as you've heard its feelings,
00:14:16
Speaker
Would you like to take a bonus action? Nope, that's my full turn. Thank you. All right. Next up next is Chuck. Um, you described the creature having looking or having similar features as the actual fountain. So it's fur is the color of like the stone around it. Uh, give me a perception check. And do.
00:14:52
Speaker
Seven. So you are looking at this creature. It is currently in the swarm. And at first you're like, oh, it should be easy to spot. It's this dark grayish, marbleish color. And you're noticing that the fur around it is starting to change and take on a blacker tone, a more flesh color tone. It's starting to meld into the insects, it looks like.
00:15:21
Speaker
Okay. All right, I'm going to cast Shatter. Okay. So it does not encompass Ispos, just so it's capturing the enemy itself, I guess. And so that is Consave against my, what is mine?
00:15:50
Speaker
Now, does insect plague veers, like, lock out sight at all? Or is it just like difficult terrain? Oh, well, it says lightly obscured. I don't know how you'd interpret that. Lightly obscured, okay. Lightly obscured. So I would say that Chuck would still be able to see a point within that mass to center the spell. All right, what type of save is it, my friend Chuck?
00:16:19
Speaker
On save. Make sure my spells. He is going to save. Unless you have a very high save. My saving throw is these 15. Okay. He is going to save. So half damage, I believe. Yeah, it's half of 3d8.
00:16:53
Speaker
Which is half of 17. You always round up in the terms of the players.
00:17:06
Speaker
You guys hear this crack as you also see hundreds of these insects begin to drop as the the shattering effect is just blasting their bodies to pieces. There are still plenty of them swarming, but they are
00:17:28
Speaker
and they are dying out from this spell. You do still see this figure in the middle of the swarm. Veers, does anything happen at the start of its turn? Not at the start. If it ends its turn in the sphere, it'll have to make another saving throw. All right. Well, Hispos, you are standing right next to it. So it is going to try and bite you again, and it has disadvantage due to Vicious Mockery. Hispos, what is your AC?
00:17:58
Speaker
My AC is 19 as I'm holding my shield. Oh god it completely misses you but it's going to try and bite you one last time and Miss you again Seeing that you guys are starting to surround it looks around nervously and it starts bolting towards away from you guys towards the
00:18:24
Speaker
towards the end of the insect plague. I suppose you can have an attack of opportunity if you'd like. Leaves and thank you. There's a 19 on the die, plus five. So that'll be 24. You will hit with a 24. Awesome. That will be...
00:18:51
Speaker
five points of damage as I kind of like headbutt it with my horns and go to like drive my horns into it as it tries to flee.
00:18:58
Speaker
You catch it on the flank of this beast right where the tail kind of meets the body, but it still goes flying, not flying, it doesn't fly, running off. And as it exits the insect plague, you guys see its fur begin to shift and change color again as momentarily you lose sight of it as it dashes down an alleyway.
00:19:29
Speaker
Hispos, it is your turn. This insect plague stands in between you and this beast. Okay, so first things first, I'm going to summon my homunculus servant, which I believe is a free action. Sure.
00:19:42
Speaker
So I'm going to pull out a hammer for my side pocket, throw it to the ground, and as I do, a bunch of little legs sprout out from the sides of it and it turns into this hammer spider that starts crawling across the ground towards the entity that's fleeing from us. What's up with you guys and insects? And I kind of whisper to it.
00:20:06
Speaker
Go find it. Hunt it down. Let's find it. So I'm going to issue a command to it to pretty much follow it. I'm also going to... If I go through this insect cloud, am I going to be taking damage? You will, yes. This is the first time you enter the... It's the first time you enter and if you end your turn.
00:20:31
Speaker
OK. And the 20 foot radius. So it would take you, you know, 10 feet to get around it and then another 10 feet to get back to like the opposite end. I don't know how geometry works. I sucked at geometry, Matt. I'm just I'm going to run through it. All right. Yeah, I'm sure you had to beat a meter, beat con 15.
00:20:59
Speaker
Uh, and I beat it. So that's a 12 plus 2. Oh, I don't know. It's 14. 40, 10 and divided by 2. 14 damage. 14 damage. I accept it. I'm a little disgruntled about it, but I accept it. So is your homunculus charging through with you as well?
00:21:21
Speaker
He would be going underneath of it So I don't know how you want to rule that if the swarm would be above Because this thing's only like like a foot by a foot like it's tiny and it's on the ground So you as a DM you rule how you want to rule that? Hmm. That's a that's a tough thing. It's technically it's all over But is your homunculus a Roomba I
00:21:45
Speaker
Pretty much, yeah. You know what? Give me a... Just a, I don't know, there's not even really like a check for this. Just roll the charisma. Go for a text check. Give me a charisma for your, for your, for your monkey eye. Yes.
00:22:11
Speaker
Uh, 19 on the die, but minus 2 on Charisma, so that'll be 17. I will say this Humunculus is so non-threatening, so small, that the insect swarm isn't even registering it, really, as a combatant. So it's skittering along the bottom of this swarm.
00:22:33
Speaker
Okay, so it's got 20 feet of movement. Does it get within a range of seeing this entity fleeing from us? It would, yes. Give me a perception check, though. Or so it'd be its perception, right? Yep. So that'd be six. It does not see this creature. Balls. Okay.
00:23:03
Speaker
Now you're coming out through the other end as well, aren't you? Yeah, I'm coming out through the other end. So I'm going to use my 35 feet to make it past my homunculus to, I guess, just the edge of the the alleyway. Well, it's a 20, 20 foot radius. Damn, so that means a 40 foot diameter. So you're still in the insect swarm. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
00:23:31
Speaker
I might not know geometry, but I do know English. Crap. Now, I mean, you already took damage, so you wouldn't take damage from it at the end of your turn, I would say. It's either if you go into it on the beginning of your turn, if you go into it during your turn or end your turn in it. So there's no more damage. You can stay in there for one more turn as long as you don't end in there.
00:24:00
Speaker
But you do have to give me a perception check to spot this thing. Well, since I'm still in the cloud and I want to get out of it, I'm just going to use my additional action to dash to get out of the cloud. OK, you get out of the cloud, but you still need to give me a perception check to see if you can spot this thing. 16. 16. You don't see it.
00:24:30
Speaker
All right, that's me. All right, Veers, it is your turn. All right, so the locust is a concentration spell, so I'm going to end concentration on it. Reaction. As you guys see these insects begin to fly off into the air, some are burrowing into the ground, some are beginning to go into the woodworkings of the buildings around, and you hear little cries going, turn lights in!

Exorcising Dariota

00:25:02
Speaker
but the spell is over. Yes, okay. So I said I wild shaped. I didn't say what I wild shaped into, but I have in my head, I swear, a bear. A bear, okay. Just a regular old bear. All right, so as this insect plague disappears, you see Hispos on the other side of the fountain nearby one of the alleyways going to the north, and you don't see this creature.
00:25:31
Speaker
I figure the only thing that could have happened is that it went the way his post was going. So I'm going to follow out of 30 feet. All right, give me a perception check. Now, do you like when you were a direwolf, do you have advantage on sight or smell based? When I was a direwolf, I had advantage on scent, but now I'm a bear. So you don't have anything anymore like that? I don't have it now, no.
00:26:00
Speaker
All right, that's straight wisdom bear. That's a 15. 15. You don't see it either. You don't hear anything moving. You this thing has seemingly disappeared. Well, um,
00:26:26
Speaker
There's not much more I can do other than dash and try to continue in that general direction. Okay, you dash down this street heading towards the north. All right, Chuck. No, Glenda. Glenda, what would you like to do? See your friends both heading towards the north.
00:26:52
Speaker
Far away is Hispos from me. Can I get to him with 30 feet of movement? No, no, he is. He dashed. So he is. He went through the 40 feet. So he is about. Did you move when you did your vicious mockery at all?
00:27:09
Speaker
Yeah, I would have gotten close enough to be out of the range of the insects. So like on our side of the wall of the insects. His post is about 45 feet away from you. Yeah, because I have with a dash, I have 70 feet of movement. OK, OK, no, never mind. He's like 60 feet away from you with that dash.
00:27:35
Speaker
I am going to run the 30 feet in that direction. And then can I see the creature? Give me your perception check. 18 plus four, 22. So you're seeing now, Veers, what's your speed as a bear?
00:28:06
Speaker
My feed as a bear, I assumed was 30, but let me double check. It's probably almost 40 maybe, maybe 35 as a bear.
00:28:17
Speaker
Okay, it's actually 40. 40? So I'm gonna say it's Hispo is up the road farther. 10 feet about the about 10 feet before Veers. Veers, you're kind of like 20 feet from Glenda right now and Glenda, you see this little bit of movement by one of the buildings.
00:28:40
Speaker
against the wall, you see this creature's tail moving slightly as it's blended into the wood of the wall in between Veers and Hispos. Okay. Would you say it's beyond 30 feet from me?
00:29:07
Speaker
I will say it is exactly 30 feet from you. Great. Going to cast suggestion and I'm going to say to it.
00:29:29
Speaker
Hey, cutie creature chameleon kid. What are you doing? You should come and hang out. Look, I got a treat and I'll hold out. I'm sure I have rations or something, some sort of food food item. Yeah, I'll hold out a ration and I will try to suggest it to come hang out and eat the food. That will be DC 15. And it is a just verifying. I believe it's a with save, but I want to double check.
00:29:58
Speaker
DC15 was saved? Alright. Yep, was saved. For suggestion, do they need to... What do they need to be able to do for a suggestion on them? Can magic influence a creature you can see within range that can hear and understand you? Creatures that can't be charmed are immune to this effect. Okay. What language are you speaking?
00:30:21
Speaker
All right. It stops and you see its head turn slightly. And as its head turns, its face appears slightly and you see these jaws and a long tongue snaking out as it begins to turn towards you. That's not creepy.
00:30:41
Speaker
And then my bardic inspiration bonus action, I will give it to the bear. I'll just be like, look at all these animal friends. You're doing a great job, Beers. And I throw her a bardic. All right. Chuck, it is your turn. You are in the back of everyone right now. They've run off without you. So approximately how far is Hispos from me?
00:31:07
Speaker
Hispos is, well, you were 30. Yeah, he's about 90 feet away from you at least. Okay. And Glenda is how far? Glenda's about 60 feet away. 60 feet. Okay. All right. And do I see the creature? You want me to do a perception? Give me a perception check.
00:31:35
Speaker
What'd you get? I'm nine. You do not see this creature. You just see Glenda yelling here, boy, come here at the air. All right. I'm seeing that I don't see anything. I just kind of know the general direction, you know, that it took off and I will just take my full movement. Does that put me up?
00:32:02
Speaker
Next to Glenda, 30 feet. What is your speed? 30 feet now. Glenda is almost 60 feet away from you. You're the farthest back. Everyone else just put everything else out of you. All right. I will then go ahead and dash all the way up and get next to Glenda. And that puts me 30 feet from Hispos. 30 feet from Hispos, about 10 feet from Veers.
00:32:34
Speaker
OK, I will then just kind of give Hispos the finger guns and give him the bardic inspiration. All right. D6 or D8? I believe it's D8 at level six. Yeah. So.
00:32:52
Speaker
as you give the finger guns. You feel a slight brush go past you. If you would like to make an attack of opportunity at disadvantage, you can. Yes, I would love to. All right, so my attack is a bite or a claw. So I'll try swiping.
00:33:21
Speaker
That would be a 13. A 13 is going to miss. You have a bardic. Oh, can I add my bardic to it? Yeah, roll that d6. D8. D8. Okay, so now it's 19. 19, you hit with that. Oh, so sweet. All right, that will do 2d6 plus four.
00:33:49
Speaker
Now, Glenda, with suggestion, if it gets attacked by you or your allies, does it get to save?
00:34:02
Speaker
8 damage. It is still standing as you do these great big cuts in it. You see this kind of greenish blood bubble out. It gets a save if you attack it. No, the progress ends if it takes damage.
00:34:20
Speaker
Does multi-attack work on opportunity attack? It does not, unfortunately. Darn it, I don't know. And as it was beginning to go up to Glenda, its tongue outstretched looking mighty hungrily at those rations, it gets attacked and it's going to turn on Veers and attack Veers with a bite of its own? Veers, what is your AC as a... As a brown bear? It's 11.
00:34:50
Speaker
11. So one's going to hit and one's going to miss so brown. Can I silvery Barb's the one that hit? Sure. Great. And that one misses as well.
00:35:05
Speaker
as this thing is now a little bit more visible with the blood trailing off of it. And its fur is kind of shifting. And it is going to be Hispo's turn as Sivory Barb stopped Veers from taking about 11 points of damage from a bite. So how far is this entity for me at the moment? It is now about 20 feet from you. 20 feet from me. Awesome. Why do I feel like a bull charge is about to come at it?
00:35:35
Speaker
I'm debating it Yeah, actually I'm gonna give it a goring rush I'm going to kind of stop my foot down on the ground and then charge towards it head down and just aim to Gore the crap out of this thing. All right, roll me that attack roll That's only a nine
00:35:59
Speaker
That is not going to hit, although you do have Bardic Inspiration. Oh, thank you for reminding me. You're such a generous DM. Oh, shit. Never mind. Forget it. I didn't say anything. That'll bring it up to a 12.
00:36:14
Speaker
Well, unfortunately, he's not going to hit. So was I a generous DM or just making you waste your resource? A bit of both. A bit of both. I'll accept it for what it is. I was that you were you were close, but unfortunately, you missed.
00:36:34
Speaker
So I'm going to use my bonus. How can I do it? For listeners at home, this is a nice little tidbit of a fun thing. Right now, Chaotic Chris or Hispos is using a book instead of all of us using D&D Beyond, which is the OG way to play D&D. Oh, and Veers also has a book right now as well. So DMs players, don't be afraid to use books. It's beautiful. It's fun. It does take a little bit more steps, but
00:37:04
Speaker
It's so authentic. So my homunculus servant, he is what, about 30 feet away from this thing? Yeah, about 30 feet, we'll say. Okay, so I'm going to use my bonus action to let my homunculus... He's going to move up right up close to it, and then he's going to use a bonus action to cast Faerie Fire on this entity. Okay. Dexterity saving throw.
00:37:30
Speaker
dexterity saving throw. He is going to fail. He's gonna fail. So he emanates with this purple light that starts to dance around his body kind of like showing off all of his horrifying ugliness. You see these deep cuts in its skin, the tail with the weird stinger on the end of it. Anything else you'd like to do Hispos?
00:37:55
Speaker
That is my go. All right, Beers, this thing just tried to bite you, but luckily a silvery barb stopped it. And it's now radiating. Did you say purple? Purple. Purple. It looks scrumptively umptious. I'd like to try to take a bite out of it. Take that bite.
00:38:17
Speaker
All right, let's roll the 20 plus five with advantage. Oh, with advantage. Oh, that's a hit. Oh, yeah. Roll that damage. Roll back. Oh, yes, that's a crit. Oh, so. So our one D. Crit, crit, crit, crit.
00:38:49
Speaker
16 so it would actually only be 1d8 plus 4 so 6 plus 6 because it doesn't do the double not it quick doesn't yeah
00:39:02
Speaker
It doubles the dice, but not the modifier. It doubles the dice, but not the modifier. But 16 is still plenty. How does Veers scrumdiddly-umptiously eat this freaking guardian beast? Veers just chomps right in the middle, and when the creature kind of breaks in half,
00:39:25
Speaker
kind of like tosses it around while holding it and then just really puts on the ground and gores into it.
00:39:35
Speaker
That's, that's, that's, ugh. That's perfect. There's blood everywhere. Everyone within 20 feet is getting sprayed. There's, there's an open window and you just hear an old man go, oh God, the horror. As blood jumps raining inside, he's like, first the insects, now the blood. Oh, I have to go save my firstborn. And he goes running out of his house.
00:40:06
Speaker
And we are now out of combat. You guys have killed this monster. I would like to go up to Hispos while passing Veers and give her a little scratch behind her little bare ears. And I'm going to lay a hand on Hispos back and cast Cure Wounds at the second level. And I'm just going to say, man, you really must be taking it up on
00:40:33
Speaker
Leg day at the gym, good job really killing it. And you will heal for 2d8. Seven plus four is 11 plus my modifier is five. Double checking is five. It is four, 11 plus four, 15. 15, awesome. Back up to full.
00:41:04
Speaker
As you guys are kind of doing this, you see coming up from the eastern northern road is Prince, the Mayor Shaddox, and he looks at the strange beast and he just goes, what the fuck is that? Well, that could be dinner if you choose for it to be.
00:41:32
Speaker
No, that's that looks like I don't even I can't I've never seen a monster but have you ever seen anything like that? And anyone who is trained in arcana or our nature can make a chat.
00:41:55
Speaker
I'm trained in neither of those things. I'm trained in nature, but I'm a bear. You can still make a check. That's a dirty 20. Dirty 20. Chuck. I'm a jack. I'm a jack of all trades. Are you a jack team?
00:42:11
Speaker
Technically, I am a jack of all trades, but I just want to tell him, that creature's dead, so that's not really a major concern. You should really be concerned more about the locusts that are happening. You're about to have some major infestation problems. Now, our crops were already garbage before this, so I can't imagine they'll get any worse. Veers, what did you get?
00:42:33
Speaker
19 19 so veers, you know, this is not a natural creature at all This is not a natural predator It's not like a wolf or you know Anything like that. It is purely a creature that was created
00:42:54
Speaker
but you're not 100% sure what it is because you're not trained in arcana. Whereas once you kind of just say this isn't a natural creature, Hispos will chime in and because he knows that this creature is called a guardian beast. It is a strange experiment that is assigned to protect a person or an item and
00:43:22
Speaker
make sure that they are safe and follow their commands. It is normally used by dark wizards. I'm going to pull out that gold dagger that I picked up and kind of flick it up in my hands and kind of look at it, look down at the creature, look back at it. I think it was protecting this. And I kind of showed off to the group the gold dagger that I acquired from the water fountain.
00:43:51
Speaker
Is there anything magical about that dagger? Because it looks like a limited edition. Probably really, you know, really trendy to have one of those right now. Take inspiration for limited edition. Let's see here. In a ritual, I'm going to sit down in the pool of blood that is beneath my feet, not really giving too much of a care and cast Detect Magic on the item.
00:44:22
Speaker
Okay. Being a big fan of not wasting time in life and well, rituals are, you know, do take 10 minutes. Fuck it. You begin this ritual spell over it. And after about a minute, because it's...
00:44:42
Speaker
Yes. You can tell this isn't a typical magical item. It's not like a dagger of gold or something like that. It is an item with a very specific task. It can only be used to kill one person.
00:45:03
Speaker
Not, not it can once you kill someone with it, it's useless. There is one person out there that this dagger will affect and it must be used to kill that person. Dariota. Dariota, yeah. I'm gonna sheath the dagger in the back of my, my, my, my belt.
00:45:25
Speaker
and kind of look at the group and go, well, I think it's time that we go find ourselves a possessed girl. Do you happen to know where she might be? Well, we talked about bringing her to the lake. You were going to free her of the possession.
00:45:47
Speaker
Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons. Swimming lessons.
00:46:14
Speaker
Yes, I'm sure if you manage to solve our problems, you will be adequately paid for your things. Thank you for reminding me that you are running up quite a bill. I would also like a little bit of dry cleaning as well. My hooves are well gory. Unfortunately, we only have wet cleaning here. The maidens cry over the
00:46:44
Speaker
over the clothing. I will accept that. Certainly.

Mystery of the Tower

00:46:53
Speaker
Would you like to, would you like to go to the lake now or? I believe that is a good idea.
00:47:06
Speaker
Alright, if you just want to head there, I can bring them. They will only take me, they live right up in the north here, right by me. I'm going to snap my fingers and my little homunculus is going to crawl up my leg, back up onto my pouch and turn back into a little hammer. Alright.
00:47:32
Speaker
Anyone else like to do anything before you head up to this little lake? I would just like to scratch my claws in the nearest house. All right, scratch your claws. Give me a athletics check to see how your claw scratching goes. Oh, seven. I'm gonna cast Guidance on her. Roll that d4.
00:48:02
Speaker
Okay. Okay, so eight. All right. Yeah, you actually clip and break a nail as you are scratching on this hard wood. And you all just see a bear like reacting.
00:48:25
Speaker
This is super tragic, and I'm going to cast Gift of Gab to modify everyone's memory to think that she didn't do that. I can skillfully retrieve the memories of listeners in a media area so that they forget everything that, oh, shit was said. No, I can't use this. This is only for words, not actions. Nevermind, retcon. I didn't do that. Can I go up to Veers and...
00:48:57
Speaker
touch the broken nail, would mending work on that? Yes, you mended. It has a weird little line that goes through it, but you have mended the claw. Now she won't do 1d6 of damage versus 1d8. I don't know. And then I will cast along with that minor illusion to paint the nails of the bare nails blue.
00:49:29
Speaker
So you guys are all starting to approach this lake in the Northeast while accessorizing and making one another look beautiful while you guys approach. And it takes about five minutes for you to get up there and you find yourself at a small little lake and
00:49:55
Speaker
As we are walking, I'm actually going to pull the ring off my neck and activate it, and I'm going to regain a spell slot. Alright. It takes about another five minutes before the mayor, Shadix, is approaching, leading Dariota and her mother, and everyone make a perception check.
00:50:26
Speaker
Oof. 11. Natural 20. Natural 20. Oof. Oof. Yeah, I got a 16.
00:50:39
Speaker
All right, Beers and Glenda, you over here as they're whispering, you hear Dariota starts taking the lead running towards you guys. And you hear the mother saying to the mayor, are you sure this is going to help? Are you think this is what's going to do it? They're going to cure my daughter? And it's like, yes, yes, this is going to be the best thing for her in the village.
00:51:05
Speaker
They will cure her. They'll get rid of this evil that's possessing her, I'm sure. And they're all going to approach. And Dariota's going to approach. Veers is the bear and go, I'm ready for my swimming lesson. Veers roars and then unwild shapes. Oh, I thought I was going to learn from a bear.
00:51:35
Speaker
No, but I'm really hyped that you're excited. Here's I have that scroll of the footprint, but we have to test out your shoe size first so that we can get you flippers for the water. Flippers? Give me a persuasion check with advantage. And I'm going to cast guidance. Thank you. OK, so.
00:52:03
Speaker
16, 26, and then a d4 for guidance is 28. I love flippers. I actually owned a pair that were my father's. We used to wear them in the backtub. For sure. Measure your feet on this parchment. She puts her feet on the parchment and it is a perfect match.
00:52:31
Speaker
And just to follow up with the whole concept of what we're doing here, I'm just going to pull out my little tinkering tools and start manufacturing little pairs of flippers for her feet. You make these little flippers, then she gladly puts them on. And as she starts running towards the water going... And she's going to be like, okay, I'm ready. Okay, so I wade into the water.
00:53:02
Speaker
And I'm like, let's do this. She follows you into the water. I give an inquisitive look. I slowly trudge in behind her, just getting to the base of the water, dip my little hooves in and kind of give a little bit of shiver because the water's just a little bit too chilly for my liking. Don't get cold hooves.
00:53:28
Speaker
Um, send a message to Veers and I'm just going to say, um, if you need us, just shout turbulence in the water and I will attack the child. Don't want to get wet right now. And then I reply.
00:53:57
Speaker
Think I could swallow in one as Hunter shark? Literally just two thumbs up. I'm just beaming. Good job. Good job. You're going to do great. Good job. Oh, no. Okay. I coax Dario to come deeper into the water.
00:54:20
Speaker
Okay, as you coach coax her deeper into the water The mother is gonna come to the shore along with the mayor And he's going to look and say so how does this uh, how does this work? are you gonna use the scroll and and get rid of the the ghost possessing her and
00:54:49
Speaker
Is the mayor talking to me? He's talking to Glenda and Chuck, who are still on the shore.
00:54:58
Speaker
Yeah, so basically what we need to do is We need to get her in a completely vulnerable state where she can't actually kill us because of the ghost form and everything like that And so we have a three-step program of how that this is going to work You see so the first step and I'm just going to bullshit because I actually have no idea what the plan is with the girl So I would like to I'm just bullshitting deception
00:55:27
Speaker
All right, give me a deception. Well, I rolled a three, but I get 10 to deception, so it's a 13. The mayor is going to look at you and say, I thought you were just gonna... I gave you that scroll to dispel whatever entity is inside of her.
00:55:52
Speaker
I thought Chuck's like, oh, oh, oh, you mean this girl? Yeah. Totally forgot about this thing. Yeah. I mean, we can try to, I mean, this would obviously be the, you know, first step to see if we can dispel it. And I will step forward a little bit toward the shoreline.
00:56:20
Speaker
As Chuck starts walking closer to the shoreline, I'm gonna look down at Daryota and be like, okay, so I have to cast this light that's going to emanate on you and it will help us make sure that we can constantly see you in the water. So nothing bad happens. And I'm gonna cast Fairy Fire on her. Okay. And she is going to not resist it. Awesome.
00:56:49
Speaker
as she goes purple. And she's like, okay, do I paddle like this? And she starts splashing her hands in the water. I reach out for her and like, come closer. And she's now paddling out into the middle of the water. Okay, I would like to take her hands and hold her. Well, okay, I take her by the waist and we're both paddling. This is fun.
00:57:20
Speaker
I don't know why my daddy drowned. I can't imagine, kiddo. I can't imagine. I'm walking forward into the water as I'm trying to like hastily read through this scroll to see what the hell it's supposed to do and whatnot. And I just kind of hastily reach out and say, I'm going to give you a blessing.
00:57:49
Speaker
Uh, so that you'll, you'll learn faster or some bullshit. Learn faster or some bullshit. Yeah, I do a hundred percent. Um, and I'm going to touch her and use the scroll cast it. All right. Is that wise? Hmm. Is it wise to do that when she's not incapacitated?
00:58:20
Speaker
I don't know. You said it's happening. Give me an arcana check. Since you're near me, I cast Guardians again. 15 and then a d4. This game is going to make me ban guidance from all future fucking games.
00:58:40
Speaker
Screws silvery barbs, it's fine. That's fine. 18 total. 18 total. You know the spell evil and good or good and evil, it's one or the other. It doesn't really matter if they're incapacitated. It just matters that you're able to get the spell off on them and that they are weak-willed against it.
00:59:05
Speaker
They're kind of two things you can do. You can break an enchantment and the possession by an undead elemental fey or the charmed or frightened event. Or you can do dismissal and try and send an elemental fey, fiend, or undead that you can reach and you try and drive it back to its home plane.
00:59:33
Speaker
What I mean, I guess the big question there is would I know whether or not with that role to cast it on the child to dispel whatever's inside the child out or to wait until whatever's in it is out and trying to spell that.
00:59:48
Speaker
So based on what you guys have figured out, you know that there's an entity inside of her. So you believe that it's currently possessing her and you need to force it out. Or you can banish the child back to her home plane. Which wouldn't work because her home plane is this plane.
01:00:17
Speaker
So I would surmise that we would have to use the scroll to push this entity out of the little girl. And then potentially use the gold dagger to slay this entity, which is probably the Lord of Lies. We're just getting agitated. I proceed and cast my bullshit while she's flapping in the water, almost drowning.
01:00:46
Speaker
All right. She's not almost running. Beers is doing a great job teaching her how to swim. Keep it up, Beers. You're doing fantastic. All right. Thank you. So it needs, what is your spell save DC? Spell save is, why can't I find that easily? It's 15, that's what you said before. Yeah, 15, sorry.
01:01:09
Speaker
So you, you touch this child as she's flapping, and you feel this energy as you finish reading the scroll pass through its back. And the child begins to shudder a little bit and veers his arms. And suddenly this mist begins to float off the child and begin to form as this ghostly creature. You see an apparition of a man.
01:01:38
Speaker
Everyone give me a perception check. 17. That crit failed. Nine. Six. All right, who got the 17? Chuck.
01:01:57
Speaker
Chuck, all right, Chuck, as you are looking at this form, because it's right in front of you, you see the face of the man in the statue from the village square with the sword that you were just at. You see his face for just a second in this cloudy form as it disappears into the sky above you.
01:02:21
Speaker
And suddenly the clouds overhead begin to dissipate as the sun begins to beam down. And you guys feel this little weight begin to lift off of you guys as the little girl goes, oh, look. And she starts swimming around veers and happiness. And her mother goes, oh, yes, yes. And the mayor goes, what? Oh, that.
01:02:51
Speaker
I couldn't imagine that was inside of her. What? Oh my goodness. And the little girl is swimming around you guys as the sun begins to glisten off of the water around you. And suddenly everything starts moving.
01:03:09
Speaker
You don't you see a bird stuck mid-air you see the child is no longer swimming And you hear a voice booming all around you and it's the voice of quandary the spirit who sent you on this little mission and You hear him say have you puzzled out the problem yet? Have you solved my? quandary
01:03:40
Speaker
Yes. The child is no longer possessed, but the child still exists. I can solve that. As you say that, the voice will continue and say, are you finished?
01:04:07
Speaker
Or would you like to explore more? Is there more to this mystery or are you done? There is that tower. That is true. That could be where this entity came from and where it is from, so we might have to go there to fully banish it. I do still have this gold dagger.
01:04:40
Speaker
I mean, I feel like we basically gave this girl a juice cleanse, which is great because it deals with the symptoms of the problem, but it's not actually dealing with the, you know, cause of the problem, which is this entity, like what's to stop it from doing this again, you know? Let's thank Wishat. Let's thank Wishat. All right, lesson's over. Let's go. Oh, but I wasn't done yet.
01:05:10
Speaker
Oh, man. The mayor will say, no, no, come in. They have important things to go as they all start moving again. He's like, no, no, it's time for you to return home with your mother. Come, child, come. And she'll go, OK. And she'll get out of the water.
01:05:32
Speaker
And the mayor will say, thank you very much adventurers. I appreciate your work driving that spirit out. I can already feel like the village is better off. I appreciate everything. Is there anything that we should know about the tower?
01:05:57
Speaker
Oh, that tower's been there since we settled this area. That's kind of the original settlers saw it when they were traveling through and thought this might be a good area and they wanted to explore that. No one's ever found anything with it. It's been standing for hundreds of years. So no one goes inside.
01:06:22
Speaker
No, no, no one I think has gone inside in a long time. The settlers found nothing when they first came. So what if it was not standing anymore? You know, we can just sort of do a redecoration, you know, rebranding, turn a bird into an ex, things like this, you know, generally work well for these types of, you know,
01:06:50
Speaker
problems, maybe it would help you guys move on from your previous identity of being a really messed up town if you sort of just had a different cityscape to look at. That sounds wonderful. Yes, you guys should definitely go do that. I have to get these two home before night falls. Yes, go do that, please. I'm just going to start walking towards the tower. Start going towards the tower.
01:07:19
Speaker
Does anyone know how to demolish a tower? I was spitballing this idea, but I actually know absolutely nothing about demolition. I know a fair bit about demolition. I defer to you. Views and Glenda, give me a perception check because those two started walking off. That would be a dirty 20.
01:07:50
Speaker
18 plus 7 is a lot. 20... or 18 plus 4, sorry, 22. Okay. Dirty 20 and a 22. As the two gentlemen, Hispos and Chuck, begin walking off, the mother and Dariota begin walking back home and the mayor's thanking you guys.

The Real Dariota Revealed

01:08:14
Speaker
You see Dariota grab her mother's hand.
01:08:19
Speaker
And the mother winces for a second as you see blood begin to drip down from her hand. From the mother's hand or from the daughter's hand? The mother's hand, which is now being clasped by the daughter's hand. Hi.
01:08:39
Speaker
Hey, get back here. I'm calling Hispos and Chuck and also running towards the mom and the daughter. Yes, I'm running as well. I'm going to say Hispos and Chuck were walking off. The mayor and the daughter and the mother had been walking away.
01:09:05
Speaker
And the daughter is going to turn to you guys as you say this. And you see her face begin to change as shadows come over her face and she grows slightly taller. As you see this black shape begin shadow just growing behind her. And she's going to say, it's time for you to leave.
01:09:35
Speaker
And we are going to roll initiative. I'm supposed to stab her with a dagger. Come on. So it is going to be Chuck's turn first. All right. Let's see. And she's pretty decently close.
01:10:01
Speaker
So I'm within visible range to see the form change and here. Yes, as Glenda called out right as that was happening. Okay, then I'm gonna come out swinging. And again, within, so I'm not hitting the mother, I guess, I'm going to cast Hunger of Hadar. Ooh.
01:10:31
Speaker
And I will drop that in so you can see what it is, because it's kind of big. What level spell is that that you're casting? That is a third level. You begin casting that and you see these tendrils begin to come out and then disappear. No, I counterspell the counterspell. Counterspell the counterspell. That's my last third level spell and I'm doing it. All right.
01:11:01
Speaker
We're gonna do an opposed Arcana check for this. That's how I'm gonna rule Counterspell, Counterspell, because that's a weird one. I would like to use my inspiration on this roll. All right. Arcana, 17. She looks at you and goes, your Counterspell has no power, yeah! As she
01:11:29
Speaker
gets her counterspell off. Damn it. She got a nat 17. Me too, I just have a hero. Is there anything else you would like to do? I'll look next to me to Hispos again, give the finger guns again. I just now this time pictured my plasmoid creating finger guns randomly.
01:11:59
Speaker
I accept your needy fingers.
01:12:19
Speaker
Excuse me, do you not know who I am? And I am going to cast Tasha's hideous laughter at her. She must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, DC 15. Wisdom saving throw, DC 15. She is going to succeed. No, she's not going to use Unsettling. No! Nevermind!
01:12:50
Speaker
Silvery barbs. Silvery barbs, all right. She still succeeds with a- Can I use my unsettling words to subtract my last bardic die from her saving throw? Sure, if you'd like. Okay, a D8. It's a DC 15. Would my fairy fire still be active on her? It is still active, how long is that, a minute or? It's a minute, yeah. I'll say it's active for two more rounds.
01:13:20
Speaker
Um, seven. So her role minus seven. It succeeds.
01:13:28
Speaker
But you succeed, you succeed. Your thing, your thing. Now she's prone on the ground. She is incapacitated. She is laughing hysterically. And that is a concentration spell. So I will keep track. If I take damage, that's my turn. Thanks. That was a lot of spell salts. Holy shit. All right. She is laughing uncontrollably. She's prone. Can she not do any actions while she's in combat?
01:13:58
Speaker
Correct. And she is unable to stand up for the duration, can't take any actions. She at the end of each of her turn, she may remake the save. And if she takes damage, she may remake the save with advantage. All right. She DC was 15. Yep.
01:14:16
Speaker
succeeds and she is going to as she stops laughing she's still prone as she stops laughing she says get them fool and the mayor is going to turn and look right at you Glenda
01:14:34
Speaker
And he's going to say, yes, mistress, your command is my wish. And he is going to cast Phantasmal Force on you. Give me a intelligence saving throw. Oh, I'm kind of a bimbo. Oh, boy, that's a 12. Oh, no, minus one. That's an 11.
01:15:02
Speaker
you are going to fail and you are going to... What does Glenda fear?
01:15:12
Speaker
Glenda fears before she got plastic surgery done looking in the mirror at herself and she fears going at like being in public looking like that you know before the nose job and you know the all the the plastic surgery is that magical enhancements that she had to her body she fears her previous body image.
01:15:38
Speaker
You see your face, your body appearing all around you, blocking your sight as it's coming all around you. They are beginning to reach out to you and it's going to deal 1d6 psychic damage to you.
01:16:00
Speaker
you are going to take five psychic damage as your form is even morphed as your brain is playing these tricks on you. You feel the touch of your hands on your face, touching all these insecurities you have. And that is now Veer's turn.
01:16:23
Speaker
All right, the year seeing all this happen is like, I gotta move quick. I'm going to bonus action wild shape into a giant constrictor snake. Fuck. And then move forward to the mare and attempt to constrict him. All right. Which is a, it's an attack roll. Three, five, six.
01:16:53
Speaker
I got 16. So you begin to constrict him and this blue light shines around his body, but you're just so strong as a constrictor that you begin to hit him.
01:17:11
Speaker
What does any damage, what happens? Okay, so he will take nine bludgeoning damage and he will be grappled, which means until the grapple ends, he is restrained. All right. He is restrained, so he can't move, but he can still make attacks and stuff like that. Yes, and attack rolls against him have advantage. Okay. Anything else you would like to do on your turn? That is everything.
01:17:41
Speaker
All right, Hispos. Hispos is going to once again throw the hammer down. His monkey, the servant, is going to spider out in front of him. OK. And then Hispos is going to use his. 30. He's going to use a little bit of movement just to get a little bit closer, and then he is going to
01:18:08
Speaker
I just want to get too close to this weird entity. So you see on his hand, he reaches out with his gauntlet at arm and you see this little form of lightning start to emanate off of a crystal on his hand and he's going to launch it at the entity. A lightning launcher. Damn. I can't roll above a 10. So that will be 12.
01:18:36
Speaker
A 12, so this lightning hits this little girl, and you see these black shadows playing against her skin, and they seem to devour the lightning as she struck with it, and she looks at you and smiles, her grin going increasingly larger and larger. Was there advantage on that attack for what
01:19:05
Speaker
For Prone, yes. It's, well, Prone might be... And Faerie Fire. Yeah, and Faerie Fire. Yeah, there's Faerie Fire. So yeah, you do have advantage. Okay. That's better, that's a natural point. All right, you go, fuck no! And you continue doing more lightning as you begin to overpower these dark shadows along her.
01:19:35
Speaker
uh okay it's 1d6 3 is 1d6 so 6 oh 9 9 18
01:19:48
Speaker
So 18 points of damage. 18. She, as this lightning begins to play along her skin, she growls slightly as you do the renewed attack after like, wait a second, I can do more. But she still looks at you with this grin, chuckling as she begins to stand up. And then I'm going to use my bonus action to have my homunculus do an attack as well.
01:20:15
Speaker
All right. The humongous comes skiddling, scurrying, skurrying, skittering. So he's going to use a four strike, which is arranged attack 30 feet. That's 1d4. Wait, no, back first. So that's a 13 plus. So that's 16. All right. You hit it. Awesome.
01:20:45
Speaker
Uh, that'd be three points of damage of force damage. All right. Three fourths. All right. She does not like your little skittering piece of shit. As that's what she put. That's what she says. Anything else you'd like to do, Hispos? Uh, that is my go. All right, Chuck, you are up with Glenda on deck next.
01:21:08
Speaker
All right, Chuck starts, he's muttering to himself, just pissed off about the whole counter spell before, and he starts creating this sphere of light that will encompass the mayor, the child and the mother, 20 foot radius, and he's going to cast sleep. Ooh. Okay, so they have to make a save?
01:21:40
Speaker
I believe the sleep you roll. You just roll the dice and then you take high points. I think it's 5d8 and however many I can affect that many hit points. It's people with the highest hit points first go. So 23 is what I rolled for a 5d8. 23 hit dice for 23 HP. 23 HP like that was not great. Whoever has the highest HP in that group, if they have less than 23, they would fall asleep.
01:22:10
Speaker
You look at this girl as this begins to settle on her and she goes, no, no, no, it's not beddy time yet. And then I will, for my bonus, I will look over at this giant snake and get the finger guns.
01:22:38
Speaker
and give a DA inspiration, or not inspiration, yeah, Bardic inspiration. Yeah. All right, Glenda, it is your turn. The Phantasmal Force is still around me, correct? Correct. Let me make a Constitution saving throw for the attack. Nope, it is still around you.
01:22:58
Speaker
Okay, what I am going to do is seeing all of these flaws and stuff. It's my face with these enormous pores, like looking like a beige orange or purple orange peel. I'm going to really inspect it and be like, no, no, I went through too much to get away from all of this. And I would like to inspect. Give me an investigation. Yeah, that's an investigation.
01:23:27
Speaker
for the love of all that is important in my life, please. 12 plus two is 14. You're like, no, this is me. It is me. It's what I truly am inside. And then you realize, no, you are what you make yourself to be. No one can tell you what you are as the visions dissipate from your mind.
01:23:57
Speaker
Um, it was that an action to do so? That is an action to do so. Okay, uh, well then in that case, I'm going to, um, run up to the creepy girl. Okay. Um. And I'm just gonna stand in front of her and just tell her, you are ugly on the inside.
01:24:28
Speaker
Then that's my turn, that's all I got. And she goes, and I'm ungly on the outside as well as her tongue rolls out and it's about two feet long as she's going to lick up at you and try and bite you. You were very lucky she got a gnat one with the bite.
01:24:56
Speaker
But then her fingernails grow and grow. And as they grow, she says, spirit of the damned, come to me. And these dark shadows begin playing all around you as she casts Spirit Shroud. What is your AC, Glinda? It's not very high. 13. 13.
01:25:26
Speaker
Six, and then... Six, and then... Is that an attack roll? It's 10, 15. It is an attack roll, yes. Okay, I'll use cutting words as my reaction. Okay. Then 60 feed, use one of my Abartix to subtract, so I gotta roll that.
01:25:53
Speaker
What was your AC again, Glenda? It's 13. 13.
01:26:01
Speaker
That's a six, so subtract that from your roll. She's still going to slash at Glenda. And Glenda, you feel this impossible strength, a massive strength as she pushes you five feet back, and you take 15 points of slashing, well, 10 points of slashing and five points of necrotic. You cannot regain hit points until the...
01:26:30
Speaker
until the end of your next turn and you also can't your speed is reduced by 10 as she is going to move to here and she's going to join her priest buddy and it is now the priest buddy's turn he is grappled by Veers so he is just going to
01:27:01
Speaker
Wow, he's just going to take his hand. Well, actually he's going to reach his hand out and whisper a word and say, you are fast as he touches, uh, Dariota. And you see her form begin to shake as she moves quicker and he casts haste on her.
01:27:24
Speaker
And it is now Veer's turn. Veer's as your turn starts, you feel this oppressing aura as she gets closer to you, begin to settle on you. Give me a constitution saving throw at the beginning of your turn. All right.
01:27:47
Speaker
16 16 you you feel this oppressive or you've been used to it because it's it previously filled the entire town and You you're resisting it. You do not suffer a point of exhaustion It's your turn All right, uh, I Would like to Move
01:28:16
Speaker
closer to, uh, Dariota. So would that mean I would take him with me, the dude? Uh, if you wanted to take him with you, you would have to move him, which would take a grapple check. Uh, and I believe when you're grappling someone, your speed is also zero unless you let go. It's half. It's half. Yeah. You can, you can move somebody that you have in a grapple at half speed. Okay.
01:28:45
Speaker
Yeah, so you can move him. You're half speed, so I mean, it doesn't really matter. Okay, I just want to move him so that I'm within five feet of Darriota. Okay. How about we take a bite of Darriota while I'm still grappling this dude? Yeah, you're wrapped around him. You're Slithery Snake. I'm Slithery.
01:29:16
Speaker
And that's a 15. 15 is going to miss as these shadows rise off her skin and kind of bat your head away from biting her. Well, there's nothing else I can do. All right. Hispos, it is your turn. Okay, so I'm going to use a Goring Rush. I'm going to encourage myself.
01:29:44
Speaker
Gonna charge my 20 feet and I'm gonna go to use one of my actions to gore it. Alright. 15 to hit. 15. You are going to miss with a 15.
01:30:00
Speaker
Okay, so with my second act, my, like, cause I get- Wait, wait, wait, don't you have advantage because of Fairy Fire? Oh yeah, she lost Fairy Fire. Yep. Good call. Oh wait, Veers, you would also have had advantage because of Fairy Fire, but that will be gone at the end of your next turn, at the end of this turn. So Veers- Roll damage, Veers. All right, let's see. And Hispos, what did you get? 19. You hit is what, two 19s.
01:30:30
Speaker
Love it. That's nine piercing. That is six.
01:30:39
Speaker
Six piercing. Six piercing. So you guys kind of, you're both like, you're looking at each other and you're like, wait a second, we can see her. And you both attack her at once. And as your jaws and horns hit her, her skin is rock hard and you draw some blood, but not an insane amount of blood. My attacks are magical if that has any effect. Nevermind, yours does much better.
01:31:07
Speaker
I believe Veers, I'm not sure, but I believe that her wild shape attacks also count as magical attacks, Circle of the Moon. I'm going to do my second attack. I'm going to pull out the gold dagger, and I'm going to take a slash at Darriota. Alright, give me an attack roll with the gold dagger.
01:31:27
Speaker
Uh, what would be the bonus on that? It's a Dax in your proficiency. Ah, so you originally dealt nine. So that's an additional 11 plus proficiency. So that's, that'd be 14. You hit roll 5d6 plus your deck stare. 5d6. Woof. Uh, I got some d6s here.
01:31:56
Speaker
You said 5d6s? 5d6 plus your dexterity. 5, 10, 12. That's my dexterity. So that would be 14. 14. All right.
01:32:20
Speaker
She howls as this gold dagger cuts into her, and you see the shadow that's on her skin rushes away from it. Hespas, any other things you'd like to do? I'm going to use a bonus action to have my homunculus do another ranged attack against her. Wasn't the gold dagger, or do you get two attacks? Yeah, I get an extra attack that I have not been utilizing. I mean, you haven't needed to utilize it.
01:32:51
Speaker
Uh, so that's a 19 on the die. Um, that was three. So that'd be awesome. And then that is a one D four. So that is max damage. So four, five, six, seven points of damage. All right. All right. It is now Chuck's turn with Glenda up next. All right. I'm going to do, do, do, do.
01:33:28
Speaker
Preacher. Yeah. So I'm going to again, look over at, uh, I'll look over at the child and Dariota and, uh, just kind of mock her and cast hideous laughter again. Okay. She is going to succeed.
01:33:57
Speaker
I will then just go ahead and move forward to get a little bit closer. Um, let's say right about there. Okay. That's basically what I can do. Okay.
01:34:15
Speaker
Anything that's it. So Glenda it is your turn start off with a Let's go with a nice Constitution saving throw as this oppressive or Gets your chippy self going Hmm. Yep. Okay that I can do that I can do
01:34:30
Speaker
Nat 20. You are fine. Your perky attitude gets rid of this. What would you like to do? Okay, so here's what I would like to do and tell me if this is possible. So I want to sneak
01:34:52
Speaker
in between the two of these guys using, like, I want to go in between the priest dude and in between her. Like, while he's being, and while I'm sliding between the two of them, I want to do my thunderclap. And if I have to do some sort of shimmy check to get in between them. Yeah, give me an acrobatics check. I would love to. Because technically you can't move past enemy squares. Fuck it.
01:35:23
Speaker
if I get a plus three to it. So, um, that is a 14, uh, yeah, 17. All right. You can do it. What does thunderclap do? Okay. So everyone in a five foot radius, uh, has to make a constitution saving throw DC, uh, 15. So unfortunately I will be hitting my friends, but ultimately welcome. And, um,
01:35:53
Speaker
it will be 2d6 thunder damage. They are both going to fail. 3 plus 5 is eight points of thunder damage. And if you have succeeded on your save, any of my friends, it would be halved. Do they get pushed back at all or? Nope.
01:36:23
Speaker
Oh, I'm sorry. No, if you save, you don't take any damage. My apologies. It's a cantrip. All right. Anything else you'd like to do, Glenda, on your turn? No.

Chaos and Destruction

01:36:35
Speaker
I'm out of bardic thighs, so I'm just going to just try to cheer people on without a bardic inspiration and be like, you're doing a great job. Make sure you keep stabbing her with the golden dagger. That really seems to be working.
01:36:51
Speaker
Do we still have our temporary motivational speech? Yes. She's going to say, fuck you, and drop a fireball at her feet. Everyone make a dexterity saving throw. I get fainted. Oh, god. 13. Whoa.
01:37:23
Speaker
Oh, but I'm lucky. I can add a d... I can spend a lucky point to roll an additional d20 and use one of the die. All right. I'm going to use a reaction to cast Absorb Elements. Okay. Oh my god. So everyone who got below a 15 is going to take 30 points of fire damage.
01:37:54
Speaker
My scales. As, as, uh, you know what? We're just going to go one, two, three, four. Let's see. Oh, I am sorry. I suppose as this fireball gets launched at the mayor, he's going to chant something and direct the fire at you. Give me another dexterity saving throw as he redirects this magic right at you.
01:38:24
Speaker
He still dies in the attempt, actually. He still gets severely burned. But... You are going to take an additional 15 from his. Essentially, he halves it and sends it to you. She fails! She failed her own fireballs, babe!
01:38:49
Speaker
Oh, but geez. It halves it, halves all fire for the next, yep. So it would be 15 and 6. 15 and 7. So 23 total. Total was 45.
01:39:07
Speaker
Cause I got, I took 30 from the first one. You would have, you would have both individually. Uh, yeah. So it would be 15 and then seven. So 20. Yeah. 22. Uh, yeah, I'm actually unconscious. Oh, okay.
01:39:28
Speaker
Okay, you are unconscious. And he, the mayor is dead. Her mother is dead as well as they are both caught in this fireball. He managed to get a little bit of a last laugh at Hispos. And she is still standing. So, Veers, it is your turn. I'm gonna try to construct her.
01:39:54
Speaker
Yeah, but I'm not constricting the ashes of the mare. They just fall underneath you. I'm going to use Luck to reroll that. Okay. How about 22? She is constricted. Sweet, sweet. And then she will take our D, our 2D ink. 17 bludgeoning.
01:40:24
Speaker
17, and that is magical, so that is really good. It's stat, you bite into her. Anything else you would like to do? Nope, I'm just hugging her tightly. All right, Hispos, it is your turn.
01:40:43
Speaker
His post is going to roar in anger from having his first singed. And he's going to take the gold dagger and go at a solid two attacks against her. All right. First attack you have advantage because she's grappled and flanked and all that fun stuff. That's a 17. So 21. All right. Roll your damage. 5d6 plus your decks.
01:41:12
Speaker
Let's see here. So six, five, 11, four, 15, five, 20, 22, 23. No, sorry, 24. 24? All right, she's still standing, but you have stabbed right into her stomach. Roll your second attack. Round two.
01:41:42
Speaker
17. So again, 17 on the die. Roll for damage.
01:41:51
Speaker
Ooh, that's nice. That's 12, 13, 14, 15. So that's 20, 22. You take this dagger and as Veer's snakey snake body separates a little bit, giving you a clear shot at her heart, you jam the golden dagger into her body.
01:42:13
Speaker
and she starts to shake and convulse, veers you quickly jump off her as her body falls down and turns to dust.

Resolution in the Throne Room

01:42:25
Speaker
The world around you begins to turn to mist as your vision begins to blur and change.
01:42:33
Speaker
The village that you were just standing in, the lake that was by you is disappearing and all the people disappear. And you find yourself back in that throne room of the spirit of quandary. The robed figure sits on his floating throne, a little smile on the edge of his mouth as he regards the four of you. And he says, you have solved my dungeon.
01:43:03
Speaker
of quandary.

Wishes Fulfilled by the Spirit

01:43:05
Speaker
You have successfully figured out that Dariota was the spawn of Dolok and had been sent to destroy the village in the last moment. For this, I grant you a single boon, your heart's greatest desire. But first, let me revive your unconscious friend.
01:43:31
Speaker
And he waves a hand and suddenly Glenda is revived to life, even though she was just unconscious. And he looks at her and says,
01:43:47
Speaker
You have survived by the skin of your teeth. Your wish is granted. And a shimmering white door appears before Glenda, and he motions for her to go through it.
01:44:02
Speaker
I will walk through that door and as I'm about to cross the threshold, I just will turn back and just say loudly, thanks for getting me up. It was just a little power nap. It's really good to refresh the under eye bags. Anyways, thanks. And I will step through the door, the shimmering door.
01:44:29
Speaker
When I emerge, I am decked in the finest clothing. I'm wearing a noble woman's dress. I've got jewelry, like a gaudy amount of jewelry, like a ring on every finger with enormous gemstones. I am
01:44:47
Speaker
part of a traveling theater troupe reality style where it's just me living my life on a stage and there are nobles and a bunch of people in attendance.
01:45:03
Speaker
a star, there's a crowd of people, they're all shouting my name and, you know, Glenda and as I'm about to finish my performance for the day, I know I'm going to go to have a luxurious dinner of all the finest foods and drinks and I go to take a bow.
01:45:23
Speaker
The rest of my cast, all of the performers, are sort of behind me. I have to be in front of them. I'm the star, after all, and I will take a big bow. And as I do, I feel my very heavy tiara about to slip off of my head and I have to catch it. Very sharp. There's lots of gems and, you know, different little metals and things in it. And I write myself. And I am well known throughout the world as the first reality
01:45:53
Speaker
television but not television because that's not a thing, you know, traveling troupe of actors but reality show and that is my dream, my wish. As this door closes behind Glenda, the three remaining companions just hear the call of Glenda, Glenda, Glenda. As the door fades and you just know
01:46:20
Speaker
You have no choice but to see Glenda's face again wherever you go. And Quandary will look and say, seems as if she's finally the star she always wanted to be. And that's beautiful to have someone's dreams come true and have them be successful for the rest of their life. But that's not everyone's wish.
01:46:50
Speaker
Hispos, your door is open to you, and a shining door appears before Hispos, and he beckons you through. I start to walk towards the door, but before walking through it, I turn around to the rest of the group. I give a slight bow to everybody. It was a pleasure to meet you all. And then I walk through the door. And as I awake from this
01:47:17
Speaker
magical door. I'm standing in a small little house, very quaint, simple furniture, simple decorations within it. And two little girls come running up to me yelling, daddy, daddy, daddy. I'm no longer a minotaur. I'm now a three and a half foot tall gnome dressed in very simple garb.
01:47:39
Speaker
I take my armor off for the first time in my life and I hanging it up on a little mannequin and I rest my swords down and I pick up my little girls and I go, yes, daddy is home. And my wife walks out from the bedroom door and goes, you're home. And I go, yes, I am home and I'm here to stay. Now I can protect you for all time.
01:48:06
Speaker
Sitting on a small little table is a little orb and on the orb I can see a image of Glenda doing her routine in the TV and I kind of look over at and smile knowing that the people that I was with have gotten what they wished for as well. I sit down in my favorite armchair. I grab my glass of whiskey.
01:48:29
Speaker
And my kids tell me, daddy, daddy, tell me a story. And I start telling them the story of quandary and these three amazing individuals that I went on this epic quest with and how we defeated a great evil. And as I sit there and I recall it, I think to myself, there's nothing more better than things in the world than the family you keep around you.
01:48:56
Speaker
as the door behind Hispos closes. The two remaining adventurers feel a sense of home and warmth just emanating from it. And it closes and you see Hispos, not the minotaur you knew, but the gnome he was meant to be. And Quandry will look at the remaining two and say, some people just want to be known
01:49:24
Speaker
by their close, few family members. That's all you need. Someone who loves you. Of course, not everyone is remembered fondly by everyone. Sometimes mistakes are made, and there's very few ways to rectify that. But Veers, your wish is granted. Walk through your door, and the door appears before Veers and he motions for you to go forward.
01:49:55
Speaker
Okay, so since I'm still a snake, so my question is, is it a door handle or a knob? It's just a portal, a white glowing portal. So it's a doorway. It's a doorway. Then what's been closing behind people? The portal has been like, just like, shoot.
01:50:18
Speaker
Oh, okay, fair enough. I was worried I might have to do some gymnastics to get the door open. But I just slither through the door. And I come upon this pocket dimension with a pool filled with gold. And for a moment, I indulge myself and I slither through the gold like it's a pool.
01:50:43
Speaker
of water and then I send her myself and I emerge from the pool back in Faerun outside of the ruined village of Rockville and I take it. It's a village that I failed to warn about a raiding party sometime in my past and it was destroyed and I take that money that
01:51:11
Speaker
And I hire a bunch of contractors, union only, from the nearest city. And I get them to rebuild Rockville along with a Palisade so that they're able to defend themselves again. And I make sure that they also include a little, we call it a zoo, but it's really just the place where I go to show off my different forms for the kids mostly.
01:51:41
Speaker
After everyone is happy and I feel like I'm finally at home, I send out a raven to schedule an interview with Glenda. So the final adventurer sees this shoooop as the door closes. The last sight he sees is a raven flying over this village that's growing and growing.
01:52:16
Speaker
A glowing palisade appears as raiders can no longer find this village. You see raiding parties going around it, unsure of where it is, as the door to Veers closes. And Quandry will look at you, Chuck, and say, a home, yet another person seeking a home. And it looks like they found it.
01:52:45
Speaker
Chuck, have you ever known a home? Just the streets that I've wandered. Well, maybe your wish will grant you more than just what you originally thought. And a door opens, shoooop! A glowing white door, and he will motion for you to go forward.
01:53:13
Speaker
I look around, there's nobody left around me, so I just kind of wander through. I go through and walk into the street that I recognize and into the town where I was born or created, and I see the
01:53:39
Speaker
building that is my so-called father. I walk towards it and as I do, I see a signpost by the edge of town that has a poster on it that says, Coming Soon, Glenda. I go to the doorway and I knock with one hand and in the other hand I have
01:54:08
Speaker
my sword hidden behind my back. So the doorway slowly creeps open. And you see the wizard who was responsible for your creation. And he looks at you with utter shock on his face for a second. And he just says to you,
01:54:39
Speaker
Wow, you're a tough wad of meat to keep down. I'm impressed that you've managed to survive. Maybe there's more to you than the abomination I first thought. Come, come my little creation. Tell me your tales and he'll open the door for you.
01:55:09
Speaker
I hesitate for a moment and then I take a step inside. I him up and down. Wait for.
01:55:30
Speaker
He will, as you come in, you see the room has not been fully fixed yet. There's still the burned wine, the burned crates that this destruction that your birth caused, or was it that your birth was caused by the destruction?
01:55:54
Speaker
still remains and he goes over to a partially burned table and pulls up a chair and says, I'm not proud of how I reacted and for some reason there's something saying in my mind that you, while not being of my flesh and blood, are my son.
01:56:23
Speaker
I look at him and I say, I guess we can have a new beginning from this point and I will try to forget past that you created and try to create a new future, possibly a family.
01:56:51
Speaker
I shall help you, hopefully. Together we shall grow. And you see that white doorway that you walked through, shooop, closed as the spirit of quandary looks through his empty throne room and just chuckles to himself.
01:57:19
Speaker
They think the puzzle is over, but they still have many, many quandaries to solve throughout their lives. They think they've gotten their greatest wish, but you never know when you might find yourself baffled by the puzzles of life.

Conclusion of the Adventure
