Introduction to 'Mothers of All Crime'

00:00:23
Speaker
Hello and welcome to the Mothers of All Crime. This is a podcast where we deep dive into mothers involved in infamous crimes and scandals. I'm Monica and this is Crystal.

Season Two Preview: Expanding Topics

00:00:58
Speaker
Welcome back to the Mothers of All Crime. This is season two, the trailer for 2025. How are we doing, Crystal? We're back.
00:01:11
Speaker
I'm sure everyone's been waiting with bated breath. I know. excited. All of the prayers have been answered. Me too. We have some really good topics coming up. We have a couple mini series in the works.
00:01:23
Speaker
I'm so excited to start talking about a whole new batch of women. I know because we are going to expand our topics a little bit and we are still going to talk about mothers, of course, but we're going to expand a little bit to females, women, families, and we're going talk about like a little bit more openly about females and true crime.

Family Dynamics and Crime

00:01:47
Speaker
Listen, because everyone has a mother and you are a product of being raised in the environment. And sometimes it's just who you are. So it'll be an interesting range. We have some of people like conditioning from cults kind of becoming their criminals.
00:02:08
Speaker
And we have some that it'll be your decision. Are they just wired that way? It'll be interesting kind of watching the range of women we have prepared. Yeah.
00:02:19
Speaker
And I would love to talk about family dynamics in general. And there are certain things like with family annihilators and domestic violence and, um you know, when children commit crimes like these things are all heavily, heavily impacted by family, parental dynamics, couple dynamics. So I just think like the mothers of all, like I think in general, it's it could be pretty broad.
00:02:45
Speaker
Absolutely. Absolutely.

Current Events and Women's Rights

00:02:47
Speaker
And we were kind of talking some ideas for this season where we talk about current events. We talk about popular moments that women in crime are in the media, in the news.
00:03:02
Speaker
And why not share that with you guys? Because there's been a lot of secreted or what they're trying to keep secret things happening around the world that is just so interesting and needs more public and more talked about.
00:03:19
Speaker
Absolutely. And I think in this time where women's rights are under attack and it just feels like every day there's some new crisis, like there's unlimited content essentially for us to discuss.
00:03:30
Speaker
And I agree with you. I feel like I'm not getting my news from mainstream sources anymore because it's very filtered. And so I'm trying to look a little beyond that. And I would love to discuss it more. Not everybody's interested, but I think that there are people who are interested.
00:03:49
Speaker
Yeah.

International Crime Perspectives

00:03:50
Speaker
And I think last season we had a lot of U.S. cases and which is of obviously we're based in the U.S. We're going to get a lot of those. But I think this season coming up, we have some that are going to touch international borders and.
00:04:06
Speaker
get that perspective as well because you have that cultural difference that'll be nice to talk about where the u.s culture and their perception of violence versus places around the world is very different so trying to keep that dynamic in mind we'll remind everyone if we pop to another country but every country looks at stuff differently too which i think is very interesting It's definitely true. Also, the laws are different.
00:04:36
Speaker
You know, and the laws are different. The way trials go is different. The restrictions on media, which can have such a huge impact on trials, it's different. And I've personally been having like a little Australia moment where I've been really looking at a lot of Australia true crime and it is a different culture and definitely different accents which are fun but their laws are different and their prisons are different and their sense of justice is different so it's just it kind of reframes your narrative like it's not just all about America not the center of the universe i mean we like to think we are
00:05:16
Speaker
Maybe you and I are, but I don't know about America being the center of the universe.

Listener Engagement and Requests

00:05:21
Speaker
I know. i think that we get our our news filtered through like the USA culture, of course, but like there are international things going on that are relevant to us as well. I think especially with the internet, you know it's not just where you are geographically. Yeah. Yeah.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah. And even more, we actually have a couple requests for this season coming from viewers. So working those in, if any of you guys have anything you want to talk about, any cases you think really interesting or even local to you that you want a little bit more publicized, we would happy to cover that. We have couple that are both just interesting people have sent in and then some that are more localized that they want the word getting out on what's going on.
00:06:11
Speaker
So send those in if you have any requests. We're happy to work those in and make those a priority as well.
00:06:18
Speaker
Yeah.

YouTube Launch Announcement

00:06:19
Speaker
And we're contactable Instagram, Facebook, by email, mothers of all crime. um We are now going to be available on YouTube.
00:06:29
Speaker
That should be live in March, 2025. And and ah so all of our content from last year and all of our content going forward will be available on YouTube, which is ah exciting. We're still not going doing videos, but it's a podcast guys. This is an audio medium. Okay.
00:06:47
Speaker
Yes. um I'm really excited about YouTube. I know we've had a couple listeners ask for YouTube. So we are making that happen for you guys and we hope you enjoy it
00:07:01
Speaker
Definitely. Do you want to talk a little bit about some of the topics you're going to, we're going to discuss this season coming up?

Upcoming Season Teasers

00:07:09
Speaker
Yeah. So I think people have noticed the two of us definitely have our interests. We love the same topic, but our fascinations are definitely a little bit opposite, which I think works really well because we have a wide diverse list that we're building.
00:07:30
Speaker
um um Some of the ones I'm really excited about are going to be, we're going dive into NXIVM, which is popular known as the self-help group turned sex cult.
00:07:42
Speaker
So we have people like Nancy Salzman, Indian Oxenberg, Allison Mack, who people will know Allison Mack from Smallville and things like that. um Indian Oxenberg is the daughter NXIVM.
00:07:55
Speaker
oxenberg the princess uh so it'll be really fun to talk about those kind of sides what ones are you kind of most excited about So, well, I was mentioning Australia because like in particular, I've been really into Kelly Lane, which is kind of an old case, but it has very Casey Anthony vibes in Australia.

Influencers and Crime

00:08:17
Speaker
And I've been like on a deep dive with that recently. um so I definitely want to talk about that. There's also been some people who are influencers that are not um they're not.
00:08:29
Speaker
I wouldn't say they're famous necessarily prior to their crimes, but because they already had some clout, like they gained some traction and it makes it a little bit more interesting. There's another dynamic there.
00:08:41
Speaker
um So I wanted to talk about some TikTok influencers that have had different scandals come up, um like Alana Harris and Micah Stauffer. um And then i can't believe we got through a whole season and we didn't touch on JonBenet Ramsey and Patsy Ramsey and I i yeah like I had a whole moment with that recently and I would love to do an in-depth even a mini-series on ah potential suspect and the in the JonBenet Ramsey case because that is my Roman Empire for sure yeah
00:09:18
Speaker
Yeah, that in Mary Kay Waterno, or I think I pronounce her name different every time that I say it. um Also shocked we made it through the season without talking about her.
00:09:28
Speaker
Absolutely i know fascinated by her. i know. And her documentary on Netflix. So we're going probably touch on her too. So we got a lot of big names coming up for sure.

Historical vs Modern Crime Cases

00:09:43
Speaker
Yeah, i I think that it would be exciting to go through some of these really old cases that are kind of formative. And then we could talk about the newer generation of criminals that are cropping up now because it's different now with the internet, with social media, with everybody being so involved with like everyone's business.
00:10:03
Speaker
And I think that in the 90s and things were different. And think things were different and i love to compare even just police investigations on how they've changed and you're so great with talking about stuff like that so i think we're gonna have a lot of interesting trials and cults and crazy abusive people to talk about.
00:10:24
Speaker
And I'm hyped. Oh, their world gives us a plethora. We just have to pick. No shortage for sure. So we are really looking forward to being back and we're going to have, you know, a couple different types of episodes, but we'll be back on the weekly content where we're to be We'll be you know, chit-chatting about the worst people ever. Yes.
00:10:52
Speaker
Well, come join us to our crime-filled Mother's Day moments.
00:11:02
Speaker
All right. Well, I'm excited. i hope you guys are excited. And we'll see you soon. See you soon.
