Introduction to Eli Studio Sports

00:00:00
Speaker
Hello, welcome to the ninth episode of Eli Studio Sports. Today I will briefly discuss the Eastern Conference Finals and then the Western Conference Finals. They're over. Lakers win in five and then I'm gonna go over some very fun games to watch in college football.

Heat vs Celtics: Miami Takes the Lead

00:00:22
Speaker
So first we're gonna talk about the Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami Heat currently lead the series three to two.
00:00:30
Speaker
and what's been a big for them. Boston has not played very well in the second half. The two games that they did, they won. So it's obviously been a help for Miami. they Boston has to be better in the second half. In game five, it looked like it was going to be over, but Boston was able to play great in the second half. That was one of two games in the series where they looked like the real Celtics.
00:01:02
Speaker
But that's just how it works out. Now we're going to go over college football.

Kyle Trask's Record-Breaking Performance

00:01:06
Speaker
and first I'm going to go with I'm going to briefly go over the floorigators. Kyle Trask was phenomenal 416 yards passing great job over there um Kyle Pitts, Trayvon Grimes, Guderius, Tony at one point in the game had 261 total receiving yards combined great job and obviously had more
00:01:34
Speaker
at one point and then Evan McPherson, he is one of the best kickers in college football but that game he really showed off. Gators fans at one point um they had okay they had good field position they didn't take advantage they're like oh now we have to punt but all the people forgot that Evan McPherson 55 yard field goal converted 3rd longest in Florida Gators football history. Great job by Evan McPherson.

Florida vs Ole Miss: Offensive Showdown

00:02:08
Speaker
Ole Miss, great offense. Scored 35 points on Florida and the Gators just could not play very well good de defense. and
00:02:20
Speaker
Good ah credit to Ole Miss, Elaine Kiffin to mix up the offenses confusing the Gator defense. um A great start to the year for Ole Miss. I know they lost, but they played a tough team. Florida, great second quarter, you able to get 14 points in three minutes and 10 seconds. Great job. And this is four punts in the game combined by both teams. Great job.
00:02:50
Speaker
Missing opportunities, Ole Miss had three punts. The Gators only had one punt in this game. Great job by them. And then the Gators had 642 total yards. That's a ton. And Ole Miss also had 613 total yards. So a lot of total yards in this game by both teams. But the final score is Florida 51, Ole Miss number 35.

Oklahoma's Loss Boosts Florida's Playoff Hopes

00:03:16
Speaker
And then Kansas State shocks Oklahoma.
00:03:20
Speaker
Spencer Rattler throwing consumption, Kansas State catches it, seals the deal. They win by three and this helps Florida a lot because they're most likely to become number four, which would put them into college football playoff position. And in my opinion, they can beat Clemson. Now, obviously the rankings will change. And if Florida loses one game this year, if anyone does, they probably won't make the college football playoff.
00:03:48
Speaker
depending on how many undefeated teams there are. But Florida does play one team that's currently in the top four. georgia big We'll see what happens with that.

Texas' Overtime Thriller Against Texas Tech

00:04:00
Speaker
And now we're going to talk about the Texas versus Texas tech game, maybe the best game of the weekend. And I want to give credit to Trey Wolf, not because of that much, but a great onside kick.
00:04:13
Speaker
But a bad choice by Texas Tech to go long on the first play after it. And the result was an interception, a great first quarter for Texas, 17 points. And Texas Tech, the first half, their game was very bad. I think they had one rush yard through the first five and a half minutes of the second quarter. They need to improve on that for sure.
00:04:41
Speaker
um Texas Tech a great block punt with 320 left in the first half and at the time the score is 24-21 so that obviously helped but in this game two missed opportunities by Allen Bowman on the onside kick he threw a pick and he also did on block punt so very bad opportunities 14 points off Texas Tech turnovers by Texas. That's in the first half. So they were able to just go and even win the onside kick and block punt, Texas Tech turns it over right away. Texas takes advantage doing a great job and way to be there when Texas special teams drop the ball after the screen out by Texas Tech special teams, the guy really
00:05:36
Speaker
should have gotten behind the ball instead of getting to the side of it. Oh my goodness. You cannot be able, you can't do that. You have to just get behind it, catch it, and it'll be fine. um Next, a great blocked punt by Texas. So two blocked punts, one by each team. The punter for Texas Tech, you can't wait so long. Obviously bad blocking, but An obvious miss passer appearance call led to it the ref can't miss that He was all over and pushing him around hitting him You can't miss that if you're the ref and it would have led to a first down So I can't blame it all on Texas Tech But I don't think you should still let Texas block your bump But I still have to give some fault to the referee because it was kind of odd
00:06:31
Speaker
And then if you're Texas Tech, you cannot afford to miss field goals when you're down by 10. I get it's over 40 yards, but you can make that. If Ebony Pearson can make it from 55, I bet you you can make it from 45. Although I get it's a tough field goal to make, but you can do it. um And then, oh my goodness, Texas Tech, big catch on 3rd and 16, keep them in the game.
00:06:56
Speaker
Great 3rd quarter by Texas Tech with 21 points. Good job by Texas when they converted on the 4th down with 12 minutes to go. Great job by Texas Tech though. Forcing the field goal to 42-41 it's a one point game. Texas Tech still has the lead at this point.
00:07:17
Speaker
And then, oh my goodness, huge sack by Tyree Wilson to force a punt. Gave Texas Tech great field goal position. And then, in this possession, great throw by Allen Bowman. But TJ Vacher made the play of the game at this by by this time. There's a better play later. But they got a touchdown on a diving catch. 49-41 after that.
00:07:46
Speaker
Texas has to punt and Sarah Dorick Thompson, 75 yard touchdown rush to get big, big insurance points, but three missed tackles summarizes big 12 defense and allows Thompson to break through for a score. Look, Texas. They had him. It would have been a one yard game, but instead they like literally give up 75 yards. They had him. They absolutely had him and That you just can't do that if you're Texas. They give Texas Tech a big lead three minutes, 13 seconds to go, 56, 41. Looks like the game is over. Sam Elinger, though, with a big touchdown pass becomes a one possession game, 239 left. And here we go. So Texas has to get an onside kick here. Can they get it? The answer is yes, they get it.
00:08:45
Speaker
right around the Texas Tech 40 yard line. Great field goal position for Texas. They've had a bad quarter, bad offense in this quarter. Might be great defense by Texas Tech in the hat in the quarter. can they Can they capitalize? Sam Ellinger gets an easy touchdown to Joshua Moore. Texas converts on the two point conversion. Score is tied at 56. And so,
00:09:12
Speaker
look they so they actually texas tech punts i thought they would go with a hail mary try because i mean it would take more than nine seconds for it to go across the field maybe not nine seconds but by the time he drops it or catches it there will not be time left i get it was a four and i mean know that Texas could have got it with one second. They got another try maybe crazy field goal from 65 yards, whatever But I really do not think they should have punted that ball I get it's a risk that Texas couldn't make a crazy field goal or get a Hail Mary But I really think they should have gone for the Hail Mary and the game goes to overtime and
00:10:02
Speaker
Ellinger gives it to Joshua Moore again and they're down for Texas. They lead 63-56. Oh and Thompson fumbles it. A review turns into an incomplete pass. 4th and 14 for Texas Tech. They have to have to get first down or else the game is over. Alan Bowman sees someone open but throws a pick and the game is over Texas number eight wins it 63 56 and heck heck up by 15 with three minutes 13 seconds to go and they don't win and on the onside geeky was right at one of the players a tough bounce on with that but you have to be able to at least catch it
00:10:57
Speaker
and if there's a fumble the Texas force is cool but you have to at least get that and Texas is great execution there and obviously they conferred it on a two-point immersion which tied the score and in overtime that four ah four-yard lock run which made them lose all their confidence and I honestly think they should have gotten the ball first they would they won the um Coin toss so I think they probably should have gone for the offense give themselves more confidence Not knowing they'd have to get a touchdown.

Felipe Franks Transfer and NBA Finals Predictions

00:11:33
Speaker
I think that's what they should have tried to do, but That's obviously what they didn't do so now I'm gonna go over a little bit more of the NBA because didn't really talk about that too much and look so
00:11:48
Speaker
I want to point out, one big transfer.
00:11:55
Speaker
Felipe Franks from Florida to Arkansas. Arkansas has never been a very good team in football. First half at halftime, they lead the game 7-5.
00:12:11
Speaker
Obviously a weird score to have at halftime Georgia with the safety and a field goal in the first half Arkansas with a great touchdown pass by Frank quarters where it breaks open 22 to 3 is the score of the third quarter and 10 nothing in the fourth. So Felipe Franks Arkansas fans have been super happy. They got him. Oh my goodness But he really was not what they expected their path the people who passed a in the game for Arkansas. Felipe Franks. He has 19 completions and 36 attempts. Barely over 50% completions. Only 200 yards. One touchdown. Yeah, but Arkansas fans expected. And then KJ Jefferson. One completion, two attempts, three yards, nothing much. And then Traelyn Burks. Zero completions, one attempt, one pick.
00:13:09
Speaker
So no one did that great. Tralon Smith did and actually not bad on the rushing game. He had six carries and 38 yards and now he's just 6.3 for a carry. Didn't, but he's like, thank God. So now we're going to go over the NBA. So first I kind of want to talk about game five of the Celtics game. So look,
00:13:39
Speaker
The final score, we probably already know that. So in the first quarter, the Celtics look like they wanted to go home, see their families, but I think that, and this is going to be a hot take, but Jason Tatum is going to lead them to win the series and I think the Celtics are going to win the NBA Finals. I get this is not a popular pick and I get the heat are up three to two.
00:14:10
Speaker
but Jason Tatum 31 points 10 rebounds six assists those are finals MVP numbers and obviously Celtics won the finals and lots of Jaylen Brown or Kemba does great which they obviously could because they're both great players Jason Tatum will win finals MVP and in my opinion that's what's going to be happening I think in game six, which is tonight at 6 30 central, uh, I think that final score is going to be 110 108. Um, game winner is going to come from Kemba Walker on a mid ranges jumper. So, and that's just my opinion. And I just think that the Celtics have
00:15:02
Speaker
little bit, you know, they have the pieces that they need. And what Hayward does that helps is that they allowed them to put at least two scores on the floor. When he was entered, if foul trouble was continuing, then they would only be able to put one score on the floor. While their scores were in foul trouble, they wouldn't even be able to put in a score. But now,
00:15:31
Speaker
When Hayward is back, that that allows them to put in two scores. and Maybe it's Kemba and Hayward, or Tatum and Brown, or Kemba and Tatum. So what they're able to do that they couldn't when they was injured is put in a score. That's what they need, okay? They need that, okay? And look, Jason Tatum,
00:16:02
Speaker
is the best score in the, left in the NBA. That's like in the playoffs. So, if you capitalize on that, and Kemba has a good game, G1 Brown is doing good 25 points, 20 whatever. Mark plays his regular defense, gets 10 decent points. Cantor, who I think is better than Tice, he should be the starting center, but obviously that's not the case. Cantor, if he plays 15 minutes and gets, what, 10, 12, 14 points. He might even get more. Who knows? And if Tice does his rebounding and everyone does their job, Celtics are a much better team than mine. And I get they have, what, the best rookie class and top probably three, maybe in NBA history.
00:16:58
Speaker
with Kendrick Nunn, Duncan Robinson, Tyler Hero, all those are already top, what, 75 NBA players right now. But the problem that the Heat are facing is that Kendrick Nunn is not getting too much minutes. He's getting more minutes and he's playing like himself, which he obviously isn't since he had COVID-19. He obviously has not been himself, and I can't blame him. I mean, he hasn't been able to practice with the team as much as everyone else.
00:17:25
Speaker
and Derek Jones Jr. hasn't either. That's why he's not his self. You know, that's the reason why the heat are not going to win the series. Because, because those guys aren't themselves. If they weren't, I'd be picking the heat to win game six, but I don't think that's the case right now. Now, I just really, really, really think that
00:17:53
Speaker
I don't know, I just really think that the Celtics are the better team. Now, now we're gonna go on the NBA Finals, so I'm gonna do situational stuff. So, if the Heat play the Lakers in the NBA Finals, the Heat are gonna sweep the Lakers in my opinion. Look, look, Heat are a much better team, even without Nunn and Jones Jr. I get it's James and Davis and all that but Jimmy Butler has not been himself but I think when he thinks about playing against the best who's ever lived in LeBron James and playing Anthony Davis he's obviously gonna play his hardest so is everyone on that team I think that the Heat are gonna sweep him because I don't even think they need to play their hardest to beat them and then you add okay Jimmy Butler Tyler hero bam I did bio
00:18:53
Speaker
Duncan Robinson and I'm not even saying all their dogs. They have a great player team. Okay. And then if the Celtics play the Lakers, the Celtics obviously want to keep their record of most championships. I think they'll win that in seven if they play. So thank you so much for listening to this episode of Eli Studio Sports. See you in the next one.
