Introduction & College Football Predictions

00:00:00
Speaker
Hello, welcome to the 16th episode of Eli's Studio Sports. Today, I will be predicting the conference championships for college football. Some of them are not 100% yet. I'm going to do more of the major conferences. I might squeeze in a couple not so major ones, but I'm going to try to do the ones that have ranked teams competing.

NBA Preseason & Player Predictions

00:00:30
Speaker
So after that, I'll predict the top 15 after the conference championships. Then since the NBA season is coming up, preseason starting at 6 p.m. tonight, Friday night, I'll predict the top 10 players for all season. ah It's probably gonna be based on most of last season though.

AAC & ACC Championship Predictions

00:00:55
Speaker
So I'm just going to go get started with the conference championships in college football. So we have a lot of good ones. um So let's just get started here. um The AAC c championship.
00:01:09
Speaker
actually includes two ranked opponents. At number eight, it's Cincinnati, they're undefeated at 8-0, and at number 24, it's Tulsa, who's only lost one game this year, they're 6-1, with one loss to Oklahoma State, but their defense this year, it's been lights out.
00:01:29
Speaker
I think, and especially against Oklahoma State, they only gave up 16 points. They're expected to get blown out. And even though they started their season six and one, they've still been able to play very well. And I actually think they're going to pull off the upset. You know, there's some teams have gotten close to Cincinnati.
00:01:50
Speaker
ah UCF and Tulsa I think is better in UCF. So I Tulsa is gonna win this game 14 to 10 Like I said, I think that defenses are gonna play lights out. I ain't Tulsa is gonna shut down Desmond Ritter I don't think he's gonna be able to do too much and then the extra touchdown that they'll score will help them get that 14 to 10 win and Um, but I still think Cincinnati has a very high chance of winning. This is just because I think, you know, Cincinnati is going to overlook them, say, all right, let's crush him and hope some teams lose so we can make the college football playoff, which is very unlikely, but, um, they might look past number 24 is wholesome. Next we have the ACC conference championship. All right. So this one.
00:02:44
Speaker
if there weren't conference championships would be a playoff game between the number two and number three scene so would have happened um um no matter what but we have number three Clemson taking on number two Notre Dame in this Notre Dame beat Clemson in double overtime, 47-40. However, Clemson did not have Trevor Lawrence with them. D.J. Uyaga-Lalay was the starting quarterback for the Clemson Tigers. but
00:03:21
Speaker
ETN and a very good game for them, but I couldn't turn that into a win I think Clemson offense is just gonna overpower that Notre Dame defense I know Notre Dame had a decent defensive game, I guess against Clemson, but I just think they're I just think Clemson's really good offensively They have so many dudes with them, you know Trevor Lawrence of he's playing great this year and Um, expected in most mock drafts to be number one overall. Um, and then you've got Travis ETN at running back. He's also predicted to be a first round pick. And then you've got a top wide receiver in college football with the Mari Rogers. And then on Notre Dame side, it's basically Ian book and doing all the work.
00:04:10
Speaker
And then some other guys stepping up in certain moments. I think that's the reason why they're undefeated. Although Ian Book, having a great year, reason why he's not in the Heisman trophies, just because all the other guys ahead of him are just crazy, including Kyle Trask, Matt Jones, Justin Fields, and Trevor Lawrence, who's on the opposing team. But I'm going with Clemson to win it 56 to 35.
00:04:37
Speaker
This seems a little high scoring. I know you might be thinking that, but I just think that Clemson is such a good team, especially offensively. I think Notre Dame could possibly score more points than 35 though. So I think it's gonna be close but or for most of the game, but I think Clemson is gonna pull away late scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter and winning the game, like I said, 56-35.

Big 12 & Big Ten Championship Predictions

00:05:05
Speaker
Next, we have a very, very good one. And it is the big 12 championship, Oklahoma. They're in it again. And they're number 11 and they're playing number seven, Iowa State. Both teams with two losses right now. Iowa State has been absolutely absurd since those first few games and they've been playing great. You know, Brock Purdy doing what he's doing.
00:05:34
Speaker
um You know Charlie Kohler on his side doing so much then for Oklahoma Spencer Rattler Creed Humphries doing doing the things over there for the Sooners, so I'm just gonna go over this game really quick So I think Brock pretty is gonna have a decent game, you know, the offense is gonna take a step up I think they're gonna play well, I think Charlie Kohler is gonna have a big game I ain't for Oklahoma Spencer Rattler is gonna have a good game but It's really important in this game, especially for Creed Humphries to play well. They have a very good wide receiving group in Iowa State. And it's not just for Creed Humphries. The team has to play well, especially defensively. They've had a decent year defensively, you know, better than usual for the Big 12, but it's still going to be very hard.
00:06:23
Speaker
because they're playing a really good offense. They have a decent offense themselves with Spencer Atler, but it's going to be tough to beat Iowa State. And with that, I think Iowa State is going to win it 28 to 24. And I think it could come down into the last possession, I think.
00:06:41
Speaker
Next in the big 10 championship, we have number 14 Northwestern playing number four Ohio State. So I'm going to talk about this game in a few minutes or in a sec, but I'm going to talk about the reason why Ohio State made it. So five and oh, but the, but the big 10 said, Oh, you have to play at least six games. They changed the rule. If people are wondering why they changed it,
00:07:11
Speaker
I'm going to say it right here because they want Ohio State to make the college football playoff. That's simple. Why? Because I mean, they haven't wanted college football playoff, the Big 10, just the conference in a while now. It's been at least it's been a while. So in order to win, they have to have the best team in the Big 10 championship. They have to win because it's it's the committee is going to have a hard time letting them in.
00:07:40
Speaker
if they have not played six games they they only point five so they're just like okay well you know if you had the big ten shape you should you usually you're almost guaranteed to make it especially if you are already in the top four so And now I'm going to go to the game, but I also think that's very unfair. I feel bad for Indiana. I know they're having COVID going around, so they they might have been out anyway, but you know, they've had a great year. Michael Pennick's doing what he's been doing, but unfortunately for Indiana, he's hurt now. So it's almost it's going to be really hard to make it, but Fryfo will have a great year. Why receiver? Unfortunately, they will not be playing any more games. So now we're going over to the game itself. Northwestern versus Ohio State.
00:08:29
Speaker
I think this game is going to be all Ohio State till late in the game where Northwestern is going to make a comeback. I don't think it's going to work. Unfortunately for them, I think it's going to be 49 35 high scoring Ohio State victory. And the reason why actually originally had it to be. Like 28 or 2149, but now I think about it, Ohio State's defense has not been great this year. Sean Wade playing decent, but the rest just not been playing too well.
00:08:59
Speaker
Um, so I'm picking, um, Ohio State to win 49 to 35. All right. So, um, a lot of other conference championships, but not too many of them have ranked opponents. So I'm just going to skip over to the pack 12 and then we'll do the sec. Then we'll do the top 15 after the conference championships.

Pac-12 & SEC Championship Predictions

00:09:21
Speaker
Okay. So the pack 12 is between eight. These ones actually not a hundred percent sure yet.
00:09:27
Speaker
I picked Washington to be in it, though, for for the other Paxful side. So Washington versus number 15 USC actually had a very hard time picking this game. I was really leaning towards picking Washington. But I think USC at the beginning, now I think about it, they were just getting started. I think that they can pull away with this game. I think, though, I think there's a huge chance for Washington to win it.
00:09:57
Speaker
I don't know if they're just getting started or if they're not very good. There's a big debate on that is in my opinion because I think they're just not very good. But you know, it might just be that they're just getting started. I think he didn't slow this though. He's gonna have a very good game for the Trojans. It's a great quarterback. Probably what? Third or fourth tier in all of college football, maybe even second tier. So I think he could lead them to victory.
00:10:26
Speaker
going 37 34 USC all right so here's probably the greatest you like offense you need to watch these game all right December 19th 7 p.m. I'm guessing ESPN but who knows number six Florida with tasman trophy candidate kyle tras and ahbama with Heisman Trophy candidate Mack Jones. Holy smokes. This one's going to be ah talk about offense. If you want to see defense, go watch the AAC. But here you go here. Watch it. SEC. Man, I think it's going to be pretty dang close. Actually, Alabama has got a very good defense. But when they play the teams that have good offense, it's not just great. They're giving up some points. ah You've seen it.
00:11:26
Speaker
I think, I mean, you see what Ole Miss did to them? I mean, they won by two touchdowns, it was 63-49. Ole Miss scored 49 on them, and that's when Matt Corral, it's not with Kyle Trask. So, I think it's gonna be a very offensive game, but I think Alabama's gonna pull away 55-56. So, I said it'd be offensive, I seriously meant it. I think Florida's defense is just,
00:11:56
Speaker
not playing well. And I mean, I'm just going to talk about each team's best players. I'm going to go offense since I mean, the defense is going to be what? Kyrie Yeland for Florida, Marco Wilson, Brendan Cox. Alabama is going to be going crazy with some guys. and Patrick Sertain, not even going to keep going. So for the offense, the, all right, Kyle Trask, Trayvon Grimes, Kyle Pitts,
00:12:26
Speaker
Hederius Tony Justin Shorter Damien Pierce Malik Davis and Kamori Gamble Alright, that's... In Bralabam, I'm only gonna name three guys, but those three guys might be equivalent to six Gator's wide receivers, seriously. um And these three guys include Mac Jones, John Netty,
00:12:54
Speaker
And Devon takes me I would have said Jalen waddle, but he's injured I believe he will not be playing this game. I think he's out for a season. So Yeah, he's not playing know So anyways, I'm gonna talk about one thing really quick and then we'll go to the top 15 So I think that this game Florida, Alabama is gonna cut whoever wins their quarterbacks gonna win the Heisman Trophy.
00:13:19
Speaker
Unless it's like Kyle Trapper for 700 yards and they end I up losing 55, 56. I'm just saying that really quick. So now we're going to go top 15 after the conference championships based on the results I had here because I mean, I could just copy the same. Okay. Number one, Alabama. I mean, they just be number six, not going to go down. So to Clemson, they just beat Notre Dame. So they'll go ahead of him.

College Football Team Rankings

00:13:46
Speaker
Number three, Ohio State since Notre Dame lost. I think they should have been ahead of him the whole time, but I guess not. So um yeah, number four. Okay, you guys are probably thinking, oh, it's Notre Dame. You might laugh at this, but number four, Texas A and M. Okay. Y'all might be thinking, what the heck is happening here? But A and M's a very good team. And you know what?
00:14:16
Speaker
ah the and they beat Florida and they, and Florida only lost to Bama by one. So that means you just had argued like a top what five or six win all season. That's, that's great. So you might say that's, that's not right. And that's not going to happen, but I think it could. I think it absolutely could. If these results happen. All right. Number five, Notre Dame.
00:14:46
Speaker
I mean, i I know a lot of people thought that they were going at number four and I honestly, I must put them there. But if they're not number four, they're obviously number five. Number six, this one was very hard for me. I'm going with who I'm going with Iowa State. I know it could have been Florida too, but you know, they lost and their defense didn't play well. I know if they played Iowa State, they'd probably meet him. So I think it.
00:15:15
Speaker
honestly can go either way. I think there's bowl games. I honestly think they can easily tie at number six, but number seven, Florida. All right. So number eight, Georgia. Why is this? Cause don't forget Cincinnati lost. I think they will. So, you know, if it doesn't happen, obviously Georgia stays behind ah in all the teams, they're probably just going to keep going up. So,
00:15:42
Speaker
Uh, Miami at number nine, cause again, Cincinnati lost, uh, Indiana at number 10, cause again, Cincinnati lost. Oklahoma will not move rankings first cause Cincinnati lost cause they're also, I would have gone down. And second, because, um, cause they played a close game against.
00:16:05
Speaker
the team that's number six or seven right now. So I like what this Oklahoma team's done and they might stay at 11. Number 12, who is it? Coastal Carolina. Come on. I mean, give this team some respect. I've been talking about strength of schedule. And I mean, whoever put that game against BYU together, I mean, congrats. Give them a round of applause.
00:16:31
Speaker
Talk about strength is schedule though, beating Zach Wilson and Dan Cougars at BYU. Dang. So I think Coastal Carolina has a chance at getting the New Year's six ball here. I'm putting them at number 12. Number 13, Tulsa. Okay. So Tulsa is a very good team and they just beat Cincinnati like I predicted.
00:16:58
Speaker
They're like predicted them too. So I think they'll go ahead of Cincinnati and then Cincinnati's right after and USC goes to number 15 since they didn't have a very convincing win. And yeah I don't think they'll have a very convincing win against whoever they play. So and after this I'm so now I'm going to talk about the top top in my opinion top 10 players in the NBA right now.

NBA Player Rankings

00:17:25
Speaker
So National Basketball Association.
00:17:28
Speaker
So number one, you guys are probably gonna say, oh, it's probably Janus, LeBron, Kawhi, Durant, something like that. He's none of those guys. It's not Anthony Davis either. It's Luca Doncic. I think it's pretty close between him and Janus. But you gotta see what this kid's been doing. He's been out of his, he's been playing out of his mind right now. He's playing great.
00:17:56
Speaker
she Give this guy some respect. I'm going Luca Doncic at number one. Um, and then Giannis at number two, MVP. I think he's, I think LeBron got robbed for real, but eh, you know, um, Giannis took it and he's a great player. I think LeBron was most valuable player, but Giannis was a better player. And number three, though, we do have LeBron James. He's a very good player, as most of you know.
00:18:26
Speaker
And man, has he been playing great as a Laker and I mean, now with the Anthony Davis on his side, that Laker team is very good. All right. So number four, Kawhi Leonard. i I mean, if I predicted this last year, he'd probably be number two ah behind Giannis. So, but no, because I mean,
00:18:51
Speaker
You know, he he took a step down in my opinion from the year before. So it might just be because he had Paul George right next to him, but he took his step down nonetheless. So he's at number four. Number five, we have KD, you know, he's great, but he's coming back from an injury. So I'm doubting him. I would have had him at number one, but he's coming back from injury. So I'm doubting him, so but luckily he's still in the top five. So he's fine.
00:19:22
Speaker
Number six, AD. I was thinking about having him lower, but now I think about it. He's been rebounding like a champ. He's been blocking like crazy. He's been scoring like crazy. He's even been passing very well. So AD at number six, that's where I happen. Number seven, Danny and Lillard. This feels low for him. I mean, you have to see what he's been doing. Averaging 30 points per game this year, right in the bubble, there's bubble MVP or something like that. So great job by him. You know, I think he's, I honestly think he's a top 10 shooter of all time right now, or at least long distance. All right. Number eight, the best long distance shooter in NBA history. Stefan Curry at number eight. i I would have him higher, but
00:20:17
Speaker
Again, he's coming back from injury. I know I played a few games last year, but I'm still having a little bit of luck. Bradley Beal at number nine. You might be thinking, I mean, why is he in the top 10? You know what? But I think, you know, let's think really hard. Last season, he was averaging 30 points per game. Oh, 30.6. That was the second most in all of the NBA behind James Harden. So, I mean, you gotta give him some respect, and he almost led the Wizards to the playoffs. Almost. I mean, isn't that crazy? It was, I mean, and they didn't even say he was an All-Star, which is crazy. I thought you should've been an All-Star starter. But Bradley Beale, I mean, get that name stuck, because, I mean, him and Russell Westbrook, that's gonna be a serious duo out there in Washington, so.
00:21:17
Speaker
Be careful for that. Number 10, you probably think it's going to be James Harden or Nicola Yokoch or Joel Embiid. None of that. It's Jason Tatum, Boston Celtics. Yeah. I mean, I don't know if you watched him last season, but he was crazy. I mean, if he wasn't on the Celtics, he wouldn't, they wouldn't have made the playoffs.
00:21:42
Speaker
He was for real last year and he took a huge step forward. I think he was averaging eight more points per game since then the season before that he's crazy. So, you know, watch out for JT because he's coming at you. All right. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of Eli Studio Sports. See you in the next one.
