Introduction to Pop Culture Audit

00:00:09
Speaker
Hi, readers. Welcome to the Pop Culture Audit, where we review reality TV and talk about all things pop culture through a contemporary and critical lens. So what exactly is a pop culture audit? Easy. We take a deep dive of pop culture source material, in this case, it's summer house Martha's Vineyard, and comb through it, highlighting some cringy and historic moments in pop culture discourse. If you're into that, you found the right place. I am Keela.
00:00:36
Speaker
I'm Jasmine. Bryn is here, per use.
00:00:40
Speaker
And we're getting into

Episode Recap Excitement

00:00:41
Speaker
the recap. Y'all, this is one of those recaps. I'm so excited. I know it sounded like always here. Same time, same place. Different time and place every fucking time. Right. Right. Right. Right. But this is a big one. So you'll have to let me get through this because this is one of the where there's a lot of banter. Right. And it's a very important how people say things. And so the quotes are important. So it's sort of a deep recap because it's important to know who's saying what when. OK. So I do need your help. I need your
00:01:10
Speaker
your feedback throughout and we got to get through this. Okay. Okay y'all. Summer's house. Martha's Vineyard season one, episode six.

Shanice's Bold Personality

00:01:19
Speaker
So the last we left, remember that Shanice was like acting her nudity. Bria was mad about the hot tub nudity. They were about to drink Rosé on the lawn and that is where we are, right? We should need to come out onto the balcony with her boobies out.
00:01:34
Speaker
after being in trouble for being nude the night before. So we're at this table. People are commenting about Shanice, but it actually seems like they let us think at the end of the last episode that the shit was about to go down and it definitely did not.
00:01:49
Speaker
the beginning of this, people are like, whatever. Which is good because Shanice says to the camera, I'm not going to apologize for being me. And we'll talk about how that's one of my least favorite sayings in the world later. Wow. Okay. They start eating.

Bria's Hangover and Group Reflection

00:02:06
Speaker
Alex takes a glass of Rosé and someone asks him, when's the last time you drank? And he said, a couple times this summer. And friends, that is not a person who doesn't drink.
00:02:15
Speaker
I'm telling you, I'm telling you. This is a person who doesn't drink often, but that is a very weird thing to claim. Right. Doesn't drink that much. Sure. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. Sure. Whoo. Simon goes up to bring Bria a plate. She's completely under her covers. And I'm like, at this point, I'm like, I think Bria has hung over a spunk.
00:02:34
Speaker
Absolutely. So hungover. With an inch of her life. She's not getting out of this bed. And it's not just because she's mad. They're kind of trying to play it like she's mad in the edit. But I'm like, she cannot walk.
00:02:45
Speaker
I think it's just so funny that she grounded herself. She looks like someone was like, and don't leave your room. Which they love to do. They love to say that on the show. She wore herself out. She got worked up, needed to hydrate. She chased her own tail. Yeah, I love that. I love that. Of course you do. Of course you do. She just did some shitty things, murdered someone. But no, go queen. She's resting. She's resting.
00:03:14
Speaker
Simon is telling her about Shanice showing her boobies. Bria says she doesn't want to join the brunch because she's mad. Then they show us a flashback to three hours ago when Bria is grilling Shanice, and Shanice apologized for her behavior. And Bria says she'll give her a pass because they were all blacked out as we very much suspected, right? So it's actually not that deep. It feels like they talked about it. Again, their heads are probably pounding, but they're moving on.

Shanice vs. Alex Confrontation

00:03:42
Speaker
Okay, so Shanice was not at the table like the Rosé table and now she's coming out. They welcome her and Alex is immediately like, can I ask what was that about? Meaning the boobies on the balcony. And she says, oh, I just thought it would be funny. And the truth was, yep. I think that Shanice was just basically saying fuck you by showing her boobs.
00:04:03
Speaker
To who? To all of them? Yeah, to everybody. You're going to get to see this, which I thought was actually kind of funny. I think she's hungover and started drinking. And you know that particular kind of drunk when you're like fucked, but then you're like, let's keep it going. I think it's a chaotic kind of drunk.
00:04:23
Speaker
100%. I've never been able to do that. But say she has a bottle of rosé with her when she makes that decision. Thank you, Brian. I was I was going to point this out. Everyone else is drinking at the table. Shanice has a whole bottle in her room and is still not dressed. That's how I was like, Oh, girl, you are very drunk right now.
00:04:44
Speaker
She's on vacation. In the truth booth she says, I don't think that they thought it was that funny. She insists that she's on vacation and she's just trying to have fun. Jasmine is pushing her to go talk to Alex and it's very awkward. Here we go. Here we go. Preston asks Shanice if she feels like people judge her and then Jasmine takes this
00:05:10
Speaker
not even an opportunity to jump in and say, well, Alex and the whole Googling situation, I wish he had just called me. And now this is way more fucking awkward than it was a second ago.
00:05:20
Speaker
Alex is like, what did I do? I'm not the only one who's seen this Googling thing. And now Shanice and him are having this conversation right across the dinner table. So remember readers that Alex has sort of continuously brought up this Shanice stalker thing and how it makes him uncomfortable. But he hasn't really brought it up with her. Well, he sort of brought it up with her. Kind of. On her first trip. But there's been a couple of different clips where he's brought it up with people.
00:05:48
Speaker
And so that's what they're talking about, that there's this tension now because he seems pressed about it and hasn't directly talked to her about it. And is there tension?
00:05:58
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know that Shanice feels tension. I don't either. I don't think that they're... I don't think she cares. She's numb. I don't think she has the emotional capacity to handle a real thing. I don't think she cares about Alex. No, she doesn't care about Alex. She's like, okay, well, if you don't like me, then... Okay. I wouldn't care about who is Alex for her to carry. That's the name of this episode. Who's Alex? Alex is blue. Alex is blue. You should actually write to Bravo if you change. Exactly.
00:06:29
Speaker
So, Shanice is like, it was a year ago. And Alex is like, I'm calling bullshit on this whole conversation because other people know about it and they're making it all about him. And he's like, it wasn't just me. It was everybody talking about it. I'm calling bullshit on this. Simon sneaks away from the table. So funny. It's the best. So funny. Simon's like, see you in a minute.
00:06:54
Speaker
Jordan is getting really heated defending Shanice. She said, it's over and done with. I live, girl, we're going to fight. I lived through that shit with her. So why is Alex bringing it up now? And Jordan is pissed. Like Jordan is like, that's hilarious. She's getting hot. She is hot. Alex interrupts her. Not a good idea.
00:07:14
Speaker
And she's like, why are you here? Why are you spotlighting it here in front of everyone? And Alex says, Jasmine brought this up, which is in fact correct. It's true. The only points I'll give Alex. Jasmine

Privacy and Perceptions in the House

00:07:24
Speaker
did this. As she has done literally every piece of drama has stemmed from Jasmine. And gets no smoke. None. None. Never. Nope. Now the boys are defending Alex.
00:07:36
Speaker
Summer says, I learned that Alex Googled everybody in the group for coming here, and I don't like that at all. And I said, what? And then the producer says, what? And I said, what? And the producer says, you didn't Google anyone.
00:07:52
Speaker
And Summer says, no, well, I checked their Instagrams just to see what everyone looks like. Now girl, I stop, I press pause. Same thing. She really thought she made a point with that though. Like she truly was like, oh, you're dumb. You're about to live in a house with these human people. You checked their Instagrams.
00:08:12
Speaker
Don't forget, Nick said he Googled everybody. Of course he did. He thought people were crazy. Yeah, Nick says I Googled everyone. Of course he did. And I don't want to take up for Nick, but on this, I must. I'm going to be taking up for a lot of people. Y'all are going to be mad at me. You are going to be taking up. Okay. Okay. All right. Let's get into it.
00:08:31
Speaker
putting my shoulders back, stretching me out. I know exactly what I did. I went on the back. I was like, here we go. And loose. All right. They cut back to a clip from a while ago that we never saw. And there are fully six people in the kitchen talking very kindly, I think, about Shanice. So again, at the end of this day, and it's not going to be today, but at the end of the season, the editors might be the biggest villains of this whole show.
00:08:57
Speaker
130%. The editing was floppy this episode. Oh, they hold shit back. And then they're like, here's this piece of context. I'm like, well, I didn't know that. You didn't tell me. You're my gateway to this world. Yep. OK, we're back to the Rosé dinner brunch, whatever's happening. And Alex says he's going to leave because he doesn't feel safe. Now this is good for Silas, because Silas gets to hold court and talk about how he doesn't want this narrative to be Alex, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now everyone is arguing.
00:09:24
Speaker
Preston, the king says there was only one person impacted here and it is Shanice. I mean, that's a point. That was a reasonable point. Preston. Alex comes back because apparently he does feel safe and Jason says, I don't judge you, but you could have handled that better. And Amir jumps in to say that everyone asked them not to have a conversation that way and Alex did it anyway.
00:09:48
Speaker
And Jasmine makes it sound like Alex wanted to have the conversation. She did. She actually started the conversation. Every time she's holding a little match when the dynamite goes boom, she's always off to the side with her little tinderbox. OK, this was my favorite.

Simon and Bria's Bond

00:10:11
Speaker
Shanice says, I'm a completely changed person from what I was a year ago. That happened when I was
00:10:17
Speaker
28. I'm good now. I did laugh at that. I passed away. Play reflection. I thought that was so funny. One year. One year ago. You've just turned it all around. Nothing about me is the same girl. She told us. She told us. She's not even. I'm 30 now. You should. She's 29.
00:10:40
Speaker
I'm going to be like, I'm sorry. That was six months ago, and I am turned around. That was three days ago. I'm different. I've taken up with her because that's not me. I've not lived in the past. Yeah, lived in present. So on that piece of insight, they move on. Everyone's cold. Dinner is over. Shanice and Amir are dancing. Preston hates it.
00:11:04
Speaker
Simon goes to talk to hungover Bria and he says, Alex makes research about Shanice. And now I really kind of love Simon. I love Simon. I love him. I think the fact that he's looking out for Bria, bringing her food, she's acting like Rapunzel, like locked up in her little castle room.
00:11:25
Speaker
And I love how he goes back and gives her the latest gossip from the table. Like, oh my God, OK, so now they're talking. And she's like, yeah, I saw it from up here. And it's like, you don't have to see it from up here. You can go down and join the group. But I just thought that was funny. I just want to tell you, I saw that Simon was going to be a pleasant energy in this house. Agreed.
00:11:44
Speaker
Me too, I never had anything against him. He was not, his girlfriend is Gemini. He's not coming in here to make a mess. He's a saint. He's a clean up, he's a clean up girl of one. Anyone, anyone, is a saint.
00:11:58
Speaker
No, anyone dealing with a Gemini is a saint. Listen, he said Alex makes research about Shanice and that is all I care about. He's a white man trying to stay out of the mess. I would love him to come recap one of these episodes and it sounds much more interesting. Simon, we'd love to have you. Simon, join us.
00:12:22
Speaker
Okay. Alex is giving Nick a haircut in the living room now.

Jordan's Struggle with Respect and Boundaries

00:12:25
Speaker
Alex giving men haircuts is the only thing he does that is redeemable about him. Wow.
00:12:32
Speaker
Everyone's being pretty chill. Jordan's curled up with Preston, Shanice on the other side. Alex makes a joke about how Jordan and Preston are sleeping together. So that really challenges her celibacy story. And Jordan seems a little drunk and she's still clearly mad at Alex. And she says, I don't come for your veganism.
00:12:54
Speaker
I don't come for your soberdom." And she starts comparing her celibacy to his sobriety, which is hilarious because one of them is real and one of them is not real.
00:13:02
Speaker
Absolutely. Absolutely. Jasmine, you had to keep it buttoned up, Jasmine, during this part. I'm not saying anything. I mums the word. She says, this is Jordan. She says, you have sexualized me more than once. I told you guys she was a hero because that is fucking factual. And we have said it multiple times on this show that he continues to do that. And she calls it to his face.
00:13:27
Speaker
I'm cheering. We'll talk about it in a minute. That's my God. When is Jasmine going to have technical difficulties of this episode? I know it's worked up. I'm getting so worked up. My internet's working great. This is great. Oh God. Damn it. In the other room, just for some levity, in the other room, Bria is considering cooking another skirt steak.
00:13:54
Speaker
So... I screamed. They have red meat every night. I know their blood cell count is up high. Oh, they're all hot there. They have high iron. Slay. That's a nice positive spin. I just thought a lot of colons are being blocked. Oh, my God. All right, moving on. I thought like, wow, they have such... Okay, sorry. We will do physicals on these people. Oh, okay, all right. Yeah, okay, sure. The medical portion of this. Meanwhile, Jordan is going off. Jordan is crying. Amir starts to talk, and I wrote, Be quiet, Tiffany.
00:14:23
Speaker
And Jordan says, I know you don't think, but you've done it to me too. Now, like everyone's come to the room to watch this all go down and Jordan is melting down. She says, I'm tired of being labeled in this home by the men. Amir leaves the room. He throws a mini tantrum and makes it about him.
00:14:47
Speaker
Bria says, if you Google her name, if you Google Jordan's name, the first thing you see is her naked, which is like objectively not fucking helpful, Bria, to then say that on TV. Because what do you think a bunch of people did? She didn't make a point there. Jordan is sobbing. Jasmine is hugging. For some reason, Alex comes in to hug them both while they're hugging. Amir is out on the lawn calling his friend, making this whole fucking thing about him somehow.
00:15:17
Speaker
His friend says, take a deep breath. Don't let the shit get to you, which is like, be quiet, Tiffany. Terrible advice. Shut up. Shut up, men. Okay. Back in the house, folks are laying low. They're getting ready for bed.
00:15:34
Speaker
Jordan and Silas are in the kitchen. Amir is right in the next room. Silas is like, you all should have a conversation. And then Silas says, here's another perspective. Stop. Be quiet Tiffany. Be quiet Tiffany. Be quiet to the highest degree. Oh my God. We're killing her. He's not quiet.
00:15:55
Speaker
And he keeps going and he says, let's say a guy really likes you. And then a mirror pops up from behind the couch. Oh, my God. He starts talking in the third person and he says, but he hears you. He hears you. Can we pause there for a second? I laughed so hard because it immediately seemed like it was about to turn into a musical.
00:16:14
Speaker
it felt like and he hears you it was and he gets up he starts walking towards her like it's it was like his stage blocking it just felt like a mirror was gonna pop out and song in that moment I'm like this is
00:16:33
Speaker
So it's a Hallmark movie is what it's given. It was so corny. He sits up and he says, but okay, but he hears you and he understands that in that moment you just want it to be, you want it to be her. Still talking in third person.
00:16:49
Speaker
Jordan says, why did you walk away? They talk it out. Amir makes her hug ham, full body hug. Men will never stop. She's literally mad at you for sexualizing her. And then you're like, bring it in. So now it's bedtime. Jasmine is telling Silas some of the most self-aware things I've ever heard. And she said, I might be insecure because everyone else was talking about Jordan and I was jealous and I, that I couldn't bring the house together like that.
00:17:18
Speaker
Oh my God. Wow. The most honest thing I've ever heard though.

Jasmine and Silas's Marital Tensions

00:17:24
Speaker
How do we get there? She's telling the truth. She's telling the truth. Let's get back here. All right. Next day, Silas has a stain on his pants. He is put out.
00:17:37
Speaker
because Jasmine ironed his pants and left a mark. I have never heard the word iron used so much in one scenario before. He was like, I'm an iron gate. 47,000 times. Iron gate. That's what I put in my notes, iron gate. Iron gate, gate gate, and dog gate. No, yeah. All the gates. Shit gate. Oh, that's right. Simon takes Milo for a walk. That fucking God. Someone's dealing with this dog. I know. And then y'all, Preston has a partner.
00:18:07
Speaker
Why did we never? Shocking. I gasped. I gasped. Also, this is the episode where I feel like they made everyone call someone important to them. Oh, they ran out of money. Yeah. Like the edit, the edit was... Yeah. You know, and I believe any edit as the word of God, but y'all, I've seen the light. The edit this episode was like...
00:18:27
Speaker
A week at camp where you finally get letters from home. Yeah, it was weird. We need filler. They are, by the skin of their teeth, trying to put this season together. No, but like this was so important. Why didn't you launch the boyfriend earlier? He has a partner. His name is Donald. He's FaceTiming him. They've been together for two and a half motherfucking years. Isn't that sweet? It is. We have talked about everyone's relationship. Come on. Why isn't Donald visiting? Look, couple's weekend. Why? Why haven't they done this? Come on.
00:18:57
Speaker
Okay. What kind of summer house is this? It's an oppressive one. It's an oppressive summer house. Right. This is a haunted house. A summer house with oppression. Hetero married couples can have sex in the house. And nobody wants, yeah, nobody wants, they want out of this house no bad. No, I didn't want this. Yes, they can't wait to get out of this house. I can't tell y'all. Summer, Jasmine, and Jordan debrief on the drama from the night before. No new insights.

Cultural Exchange and Soul Food Night

00:19:22
Speaker
Alex, just the same, just the same. Alex Facetime's his brother, so you're right, Keila, even looking at this. Yes, absolutely what they're doing. Facetime's his brother to share his amazing reflections and also sing a song with him. Oh wait, they're putting on a show at the end of the vacation? I don't want it. That's all I want. I don't need it. Emphasis on question marks. I said what? The last episode is a concert?
00:19:47
Speaker
I thought they were going to start singing on the phone. So I was like, I don't, I don't like this. I'm glad that didn't happen. I don't want to hear, I don't want to hear this at all.
00:20:02
Speaker
Yeah. John Legend's not even coming. That's his claim to fame cousin. Oh, whoa. Yeah. No, he's not coming. They don't talk. Um, all right. They're going to have a soul food night. Everyone is cooking. Jordan FaceTime's her dad and okay. So yeah, the FaceTime we're really getting like FaceTime. We're getting a lot of FaceTime. We've never seen these people FaceTime in their entire life and everyone has someone to call this up. Yeah. They really got produced into a corner.
00:20:29
Speaker
While they're cooking, Jasmine is explaining soul food to Amir. Where has this man been? Okay, can we pause there for a second? Amir not knowing anything about our culture slash his culture. It amazes me and it is also his choice. Literally. Literally. He is not 12 years old. No. It's a choice. It was a choice. You may be choosing to learn more now because
00:20:59
Speaker
It's convenient for what you're trying to do, but it's absolutely a choice for you to be this ignorant about our culture. Like it's unacceptable and that annoyed me. I just wonder if the producers are using it as a wedge to get some of these black history facts in there. And to that point, it feels like this group came in with the understanding that they would educate the viewers on black culture.
00:21:25
Speaker
That's just like a lift that no other summer house has and I just I like it because I like history and all of that But it just feels like this weekend in black culture moment like it. I don't know. It's something I don't know. I don't know about that
00:21:41
Speaker
I don't know. I feel like it could have been ingrained more throughout the experience. Like they go to specific sites that are significant to black history. Martha's Vineyard. I thought this was a very, actually very tasteful slip of soul food, but Jasmine's voice. Um, I also thought the food looked good as hell. The way they did not eat till like nine 30, I want to be airlifted.
00:22:15
Speaker
I'm not eating at 9 30. I'm not strong enough. No, no, I would have been furious furious. Full food gives you the itis. So I'm going to eat and then get ready for the party.
00:22:31
Speaker
Oh, yeah, you're right. You're already guaranteeing I have to stay up till 2 a.m. Of course, I'm going to fight someone. No. If I can't go to sleep after I eat soul food. No, I'm going to. Yeah, I would have showed up in pajamas and protests and I just know that you're right. They did have something right after that. They started drinking liquor right after I'm like, oh, my stomach churned. I was like, this is this is not what that mac and cheese deserved.
00:22:59
Speaker
Okay, so they have the soul food, y'all. They have this dinner. Great. And you also note that Nick was talking to his girlfriend, so I think literally everyone called someone. Wait, she's in Africa. And she's in Africa. I just want to say that. Okay, continue.
00:23:16
Speaker
That's all I wrote. She's in Africa. It sounds fake. She's in Africa, question mark, question mark, question mark. Yep. That's literally what it says. Okay. They say, Grace, the food looks very good. After dinner, they have this pride party. Preston shares the story of how pride started. They do shots. Preston then says, I love this so much. Preston then says he'd love to have the straight men in the house take five minutes to come up with a dance routine.
00:23:41
Speaker
And these little babies put on a hilarious and earnest show. Hilarious. Truly comical. They go coordinate this little show. Simon has the best attitude about it.
00:23:52
Speaker
Yeah. They're so cute. The funniest thing Silas has ever said. The white Kanye James Kennedy. So funny. Okay. Carry on. Okay. They're drinking too much. I'm getting stressed again. They're drinking too much. It's bedtime. It's bedtime. But Silas decides as Jasmine is laying in bed almost asleep to say, do you want to talk about what happened today? And she says, what are you talking about? And he says, my pants.
00:24:22
Speaker
Oh boy. Iron Gate. They argue about how Jasmine messed up his pants. And at least, again, I do, I gotta give Jasmine her credit when it's due. I think she's chaotic, but she doesn't take it. Like she does not take it from Silas. I do appreciate that. She pushes back every time. Morning time. So bedtime, nighttime, morning time, sun is up. Silas wakes up talking about his goddamn pants. He's still talking about his pants. And the stain from the iron on his pants.
00:24:52
Speaker
Shanice is leaving for good. She's got to go back to work. Jasmine goes to make Silas his breakfast. She takes it to him. She comes back and she says, are you done with this? Because his breakfast is just sitting there on the desk. And he's like, yeah, I won't really eat it. And she's really annoyed by that, obviously. And he says, you know, I'm not good with bread or starch or anything.
00:25:14
Speaker
She rolls her eyes out of her head. She's so annoyed and he seems completely unbothered. She kind of slams the breakfast down on the dresser and just stands there staring at him and then we fade away until next time, which is in fact the season finale of Summer House, Martha's Vineyard. All right, Jasmine, you've been holding it in, my dude. Let's fucking rumble. Okay, Jasmine, where are you? We are going to rumble and I just want to say
00:25:43
Speaker
Um, these are the breaks and the hot takes. Um, did very well. Okay. Our episode title. Um, let's kick it off with Jordan. Uh, unreasonable, unresolved issues, disrespectful tone, villainizing, and hypersensitive. Girl, what does this mean? A woman who hates it. Professor, please. So I feel like Jordan
00:26:12
Speaker
So I think I said this last week, she's becoming like one of my least favorite people in the house. I do feel like she had some points when she spoke about to Alex and Amir about, oh, I've been sexualized. And they gave the flash of Alex, y'all aren't making enough sexy sounds or these little moments. So I was like, OK, yes, that's true. Amir, I don't feel like has sexualized her at all.
00:26:40
Speaker
for just annoying, annoying guy that wants to date you. But I just feel like her approach to things is really
00:26:51
Speaker
combative and unnecessarily hyped. When she was recounting what happened between Brea and Mariah to Jasmine, she felt the need to push Jasmine. You see, you don't like that, huh? When she was talking to Phil, I felt like she escalated that situation by acting a fool and yelling and cursing and all of that. And now she's at the table with Alex, like, I'm not done speaking. I'm not done, like her way, her approach is just so
00:27:17
Speaker
unnecessarily hyped to me. It just makes her unlikable. I also believe that she's haunted by the decisions she's made with Playboy. I mean, in every other episode, she's talking about it, but then she also is like, oh, people are sexualizing me because of what I do. Unless I'm missing something, you're the only person that's been bringing it up.
00:27:39
Speaker
So you're the one. And then she over-exaggerated telling Alex, you've done this to me a million times. That's a reach. I'm tired of being labeled their point.
00:27:51
Speaker
No one asks for permission about whether or not they like me. That's strange. And then she admits in the confessional that perhaps maybe the things that she feels is a little bit deeper. And I thought the guys rallying around her was nice because I would have been like a mirror. I'm not dealing with this. Like it was just, it was just felt like overkill to me.

Jordan vs. House Dynamics

00:28:13
Speaker
And it was just too much. It was too much. And I just find her to be completely unlikable.
00:28:22
Speaker
Can we, is the audience allowed to please be? I rest my case. Thank you, doctor. I want to believe, I believe women. If she says she's having this experience, I believe her. I think I'm just like so confused because I feel like Jordan hits 10 so quickly and it's not necessary. Like at the dinner,
00:28:45
Speaker
the rosé abrasion, she got it in the business about Shanice and started getting worked up even more than Shanice was. Like Shanice was the least worked up person and her lines didn't even make the final cut of the show. Like what does that mean if the person who this is about isn't even getting final speed lines? Y'all have to relax. I also think
00:29:07
Speaker
Jordan is not having fun and she doesn't want to be here anymore. And that is why she's acting like this. When she called her dad and he goes, are you having fun? And she couldn't say yes immediately.
00:29:20
Speaker
I was like, okay, you're not having a good time. You thought it would be something different than what you wanted. This is not furthering your career. No one is asking you for anything. You're not offering something that is so unique in the house. I also am deeply confused and I know that the editing is like we're starting to see the holes in it of what
00:29:44
Speaker
Amir's feelings, that is what it is. You just got in the toss-up. But what is your relationship with this man? Because the edit made it seem like even after her blow-up, Nick and Amir were laying in the bed with her, playing around with her. You don't have to apologize to that man. He got caught in the cost of fire or whatever it's called. But I don't know, it just seems like you like Amir when you want some attention and then
00:30:10
Speaker
You don't like, sometimes you flirt with them. Like, I don't know what's going on. I believe her. She says she's done. She's done a period. And I'm also like, you should just hold that man off earlier. I think it's annoying that Amir was like, you didn't like me. She's not into you. She's not. It's been all summer and she's not made a move. She's not into you. It's been 12 days. Let's be comfortable. But she's not into you. Yeah.
00:30:39
Speaker
No, she's not. Boy, I have so much defensive Jordan on my heart. Please. Defensive Jordan? OK, go ahead. No, defensive Jordan. I do think she's bored. I think she's bored. Maybe the career thing. I think this is a largely boring house with boring people. And I think she has been, and we don't know what's not even being shown, right? They only show us these flashbacks and things when they feel like it, she has been.
00:31:06
Speaker
in everyone's mouth on all these men's tongues about, you know, like, yeah. And so who knows what of that is getting back to her from day one. Amir is talking about her. Alex is talking about her.
00:31:19
Speaker
Nick talks about her, like, Silas is saying that she's the wild friend, you know, like, that's fair. Somebody has something to say about, they have all written her narrative from the moment she walks in the house. And yes, maybe she's carrying a chip on her shoulder from Playboy stuff. I think she's hand I have appreciated
00:31:39
Speaker
I think Bria acts childish and out of control and goes to attend. I think Jordan maybe is, her reaction is stronger than seems warranted by the situation, but I still feel like she stands in her convictions and she doesn't let people get away with bullshit. And I don't know, I really appreciated watching Alex's, there it, hmm, I might be getting too much into my own audit point. I thought that Jordan tells the truth.
00:32:07
Speaker
And she tells the truth. And obviously she's also exhausted. The sobbing and stuff, I was like, oh, dear. This is a tired woman. She was drunk. She's a tired, drunk woman. That's so hungover from the night before. And they've just layered soul food and liquor on top of it. They're all a fucking disaster.
00:32:31
Speaker
I second that. But I think the breakdown was so big because she seemed so intoxicated and she was tired. She was so tired. I mean, they've been filming nonstop. They stay up late. They drink every day. Everyone's fighting.
00:32:47
Speaker
I get it. It was very dramatic. And I think Jordan's argument style is to be over the top and get heated without any real context. And maybe that's why I am annoyed with her from going back to Phil or pushing Jasmine from example. But I hear you, Bren.
00:33:03
Speaker
I hear you. I think, and I think it does, I will segue quickly into one of my main audit points. Okay, please. And this continues off of be quiet Tiffany and what Kela started. And I think similar. So this, I've been reading a book y'all called, okay, tell us the trouble with white women.
00:33:23
Speaker
And in this book- Oh my gosh. I can't believe you're just now breaking this up. I feel like I really want to deep dive into it. We'll do a special episode on the trouble with white women. We're just in the beginning of it. But they're talking about, I don't know if you all know the historical figure, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who's credited with the suffrage movement. She basically coined white feminism, which pitted the women's right to vote over black men's right to vote, essentially.

Critiquing Masculine Dynamics in Reality TV

00:33:49
Speaker
One of her taglines in this campaign was, will we let clowns make laws for queens, referring to like if black men can vote but white women can't, then the clowns will be making the laws for the queens. So we're going to take it out of context because it's a horribly racist thing to say and do, and we do not. It all support Elizabeth Cady Stanton or her fucking weird white feminism.
00:34:11
Speaker
But in this house, are we going to let clowns make laws for queens is my question. Because watching a man be told the truth about something he never thought he is so used to, and I'm talking about Alex, so used to being able to say, make little comments, do whatever he fucking wants and never get called on it.
00:34:33
Speaker
to have a woman actually throw back in the face, the tiny little comments that men make is so satisfying to me because that is happening all over every day in a thousand fucking ways. And nobody ever calls them on it. Like it is just socialized culture to be able to talk about inserting something or make different noises or you're looking sick. Like fuck you. Nobody. And yeah, I completely fully support that stance.
00:35:03
Speaker
I think for me, again, back to my point earlier, the level that she goes to never, to me in my opinion, it never fits the conversation that she's having. And maybe I resonate with that because I see someone who, like most of us, just fucking swallows the tiny paper cuts, you know, call them microbrushes or whatever.
00:35:26
Speaker
Well, until she doesn't and then she, the reaction is over the top or till she's drunk and tired and then the reaction is over the top.
00:35:35
Speaker
I said, please, no, I think there's two wrongs in a way here. Like I'm annoyed with Jordan's explanation, but I also am deeply annoyed with all the men in the house. I could I could go there deeply exhausted by everything. I feel like especially this episode, everyone was annoying. Everyone was going for Preston, going back except for Preston, going back to last week when I was bothered.
00:36:02
Speaker
that Alex called Jordan thick. It didn't matter if it's a compliment that was out of pocket. And two other men heard him say that and didn't step up clowns. I'd be fucking annoyed. He makes comments about tennis. Like you suck. Then the simple explanation to deescalate whatever Jasmine was saying, rather than just deescalate the situation, the men jumped in and defended Alex.
00:36:25
Speaker
You didn't have to do that. None of this should even be happening, but Nick getting involved, Silas having to put his two cents, even when Jordan was crying.
00:36:36
Speaker
Nick, well, I didn't think that. I think we have good conversations. Amir going off to the side calling his friend. All I want to do is protect her. And even Amir saying that. So if I tell you that I'm uncomfortable and I want you to leave me alone and all you do is sexualize me. And the reason you care about me and like me is because you would have sex with me if I gave you the option. And now you're coming at me saying you want to protect me. Right. Go to hell. All the way straight to hell.
00:37:02
Speaker
Like the whole, all of this has been just like a disappointing clowns. And now I'm like getting into it. Yeah. I could see really disappointed about this experience. I, I, again, I can be bothered by the way she reacted. That's her, that's her, how she reacts, whatever. But like I grew there and it sucks. I don't think Amir has been, I do not think that Amir has been sexualizing her. Like I don't,
00:37:27
Speaker
I think he likes her and he's been annoying. I think that's a very fine line between. I think that's a super fine line. Yeah. I don't think that he's just put over it. I don't know. I mean, but I also think it's for her to decide. Yeah, I think it is for her to decide, but she's not on his podcast. So from what I'm watching, surprise, surprise, surprise. It's Jordan. Jordan's here. It's Shanice. It's Shanice.
00:37:53
Speaker
It's the other Jasmine. Oh my God, Jasmine. I cannot breathe. I told y'all it was going to be a rumble. I knew it as I was watching it. I was like, oh, they're going to hate me this week because she bothers me so much. I get her points. I completely understand and respect all the stances that have just been mentioned.
00:38:23
Speaker
She's annoying AF. I would be friends with her, literally. She would be my friend. What? OK. She would be my friend. Nah. I'm not going to go that far. I like her. But I think she's working on something, too, y'all. Like the celibacy thing. She is working on some stuff. I agree with that. And she's working it out in real time. She needs to keep working. I feel like she's Jasmine. She has Jasmine Denise. Let Brit finish my girl.
00:38:53
Speaker
She is figuring out her own relationship to her sexuality and agreed that she's caught up in the playboy of it all, and she's trying to figure it out. And these men have been acting like clowns, and I too am tired of being labeled by the men in this home. Get the fuck out of here. Stop.
00:39:12
Speaker
My only other comment about the men of it all is watch what happens, y'all. When someone tells men it is okay to stop being so fucking worried about heterosexuality and they have the best time. A great time. I do agree. They stopped doing the most for literally eight minutes and acted like human people and had a ball.
00:39:35
Speaker
because Preston told them it was okay. Like it was cute. We are ruined. I mean, as much as straight men are going to be the enemy of this podcast now until forever.
00:39:46
Speaker
That platform comes with pity because we are ruining men in this society. I think there's something, and I'm going to say this and then I'm going to walk away from it. Oh my God. I think there is something to be said about the way that masculinity operates in this house of Preston was able to get the men to relax in a way that they just cannot do it for the women. Correct.
00:40:08
Speaker
Correct. There's always a further stipulation. Bria has a man, so they're not going to rock with her like that. Jasmine was married. She's a little sister. Yeah. Shanice is a stalker, allegedly. So we're not going to rock with her like that. But Jordan. Summer has her own thing. It doesn't want to do Greek life, whatever. Like, there's just something going on. Yes. And that's that. That's that. All right. Leave it out there. I think that's something to look at. All right. That's the end of my
00:40:36
Speaker
of my audit point of the continuation of Be Quiet, clowns.

Jasmine and Silas's Marriage Under the Microscope

00:40:40
Speaker
Okay, well, let's dive into our favorite slash, not favorite couple, Jasmine and Silas. Can I start this? Please, please kick it off. Um,
00:40:56
Speaker
Basically, I don't even know how to fully encompass what I feel for this. This week, we watch, I think Jasmine sums it up really well when she says, I just feel like we can't find each other, which I often feel is what happens when people get thrown out of their regular routine and have to do something else. Of course you don't find each other. You're on vacation with a bunch of people in a different house. And when Jasmine goes, I thought this would be a romantic trip with our friends.
00:41:25
Speaker
No. That doesn't exist. That doesn't even exist. How are you having a romantic trip and then other people are just there? That doesn't exist. I am so stressed about this marriage to the point in which I brought it up in therapy because I'm in a relationship. I'm in a relationship and I
00:41:45
Speaker
I don't understand. I can understand when you can't find someone, like you can't find your partner and you just don't seem like you're making a balance. I can understand messing up an article of clothing, which I've done before and you just have to work through that. I cannot understand how it just seems so fundamentally unbalanced and that two people are just not feeding each other at all. When they were going to bed and Jasmine goes, I wish I could bring the house together like Jordan did.
00:42:11
Speaker
You have never expressed wanting to bring the house together. When you brought the Shanice and Alex confrontation up at the Rosé dinner, how is that bringing the house together?
00:42:21
Speaker
When you were at the dinner with Simon and Brea's watch, watch Fasta Palooza and you go, my marriage is hard. How was that bringing the house together? When you confronted Jordan about being single, how was that bringing the house together? Like you've never said anything about before. Silas being like, I don't eat starch. I feel like you've never said that before. Otherwise your wife who makes breakfast for you every day, wouldn't do that for you.
00:42:44
Speaker
Also, she made you a sandwich earlier this week, which is a starch. It was bread. So what are you talking about? It stresses me out that there's just constant like.
00:42:56
Speaker
It feels like you can't ever find each other because it doesn't feel like you're portraying accuracy of what you both want or need in this relationship. And in turn, you take that out on everyone in the house. I'm sorry, Jay. No, I was just going to say what you're saying makes me think like, how did they ever find each other to begin with?
00:43:15
Speaker
I think it was easy when they weren't messing with friends. I think about how relationships were different in early pandemic because we were just at home and it was just us. And then getting back into socializing and having friends and being in a group is like a different way of knowing my partner and how we feel connected in that experience. And I feel like they got so close and got engaged and got married and they never had this group experience and now
00:43:44
Speaker
her friends who know her as 2 a.m. Miss Bunny, which is not a dig because that's a sleigh. Like, what did you like? You don't know this woman and y'all never talked about it. Yeah, God. And it's just showing up just so there's just so many different avenues to go with this marriage. I don't know if Jasmine signed up.
00:44:10
Speaker
to have the marriage that she has because sans their friends, right? Even without their friends, those moments in that bedroom, it's just them two. And that's the most toxic exchange, right? Has nothing to do with their friends. And I know it's not the first time because she's saying things like, don't start with me today. Like this is a reoccurring thing. I didn't have to remember they were only married again for two months before going in the house.
00:44:40
Speaker
I will say as it relates to like bringing the house together, the one thing that they have that's in common is that they want to steer this group.
00:44:51
Speaker
It doesn't matter where they're steering the group, they want to be the people to do it. And if it, whether it's a good or bad thing, and I think Jasmine's jealousy was that she lost control of steering the group in that moment. She's off the clock. She's, and then she looks up and people are physically rallied around Jordan and that made her jealous because she wants to be the number one girl in the group, right? Yeah. Yeah. So.
00:45:19
Speaker
transitioning from that into iron gate, I, so I just have to say like, as far as like him mentioning these pants and he's saying, I told you not to iron them, you know, whatever. I would have been annoyed too, because if I tell you not to touch my stuff, don't do it. But if the baseline in their marriage was that everyone takes care of their own basic needs, i.e. getting dressed alone,
00:45:46
Speaker
then this could have possibly been eliminated because she would have just been worried about her own stuff. She would have even tried to make that effort to do something for you that you expect, but because you have these expectations of your own basic grown-ass man needs being met from another person outside of who, you know what I mean, who you are, married or no married, then we're in these kinds of situations.
00:46:11
Speaker
And I also put here, don't talk to me like we're at work in the middle of the night talking about let's circle back. I'm not circling back to shit. Like at this time of night, don't speak to me like that. Like let's circle back to my pants. Let's not do that.
00:46:28
Speaker
Um, there's something called fighting styles where you're supposed to like, there's a book called fair play. Basically like you should fight fair with your partner. And what like got my under my skin was even having an argument after you've been drinking for hours, hours into the day, it has to be like two, three a.m. is petty. Mm hmm.
00:46:51
Speaker
So even him having the nerve of them going to bed to bring up the argument just rubbed me the wrong way. Like, so you want this to be tennis. You want drama. Because why would you do that? That makes no sense. Right. To fight. I agree. To fight. And I think that Jasmine sang the line, I question whether or not Silas and I have what it takes to stand the test of time. It's such a big statement from a newlywed. She knows there's a lot of trouble there and
00:47:19
Speaker
Based on his behavior next week, Silas is abusive. Oh, I couldn't even with the coming up. But Desmond, what you're saying, like the thing, and this is Akilah, your relationship is fine. It's great. I mean, I know. We're fine. Readers, I'm fine. It's good. Because the way that these two think about marriage, well, because they think
00:47:42
Speaker
They have this notion, they just have like, I don't know if it, I can't even, I can't diagnose them. I can't diagnose them. But this idea that like when you're married, things have to fundamentally change and then there's a breakfast routine and then we comment on each other's outfits and then you take care of this and I take care of this. No, no, that is not what happens when you get married.
00:48:06
Speaker
No, it's not. You get a tax break. That's it. That's the only thing that happens when you get fucking married. And everything else from there is up to you, right? It's up to you. Do the exact same things you were doing before or change them, but you all made these choices of exactly what you're saying. Their idea of marriage is as if I asked my daughter and her friends to tell me what it's like to be married, right? Yeah.
00:48:35
Speaker
Childish. I tell her what to wear, and I bought all of her clothes, and when she wears sandals, and the lawn, I'm mad about it, and she irons my pants. That was rough. And I don't eat starch. Right. Yeah. And all I have to do is tell her she's fine in the bathroom. And then she'll make porn noises? No. No. That's not a marriage. It's not. It's not. You're right. It's not. It's not healthy. Super, super unfortunate.
00:49:04
Speaker
I'm watching them and it just confirms that being a full person and being able to bring that into a marriage is so important for me. And in this marriage being displayed is like exactly showing me like why it will be unacceptable for me not to bring my full self to my marriage. And I feel like she's being
00:49:29
Speaker
Stifled and you know, her light is being hidden under a bushel and it really is hard. She has no space. She has no space in there and like Certainly people choose different things in relationships different relationships work out well for people that I would not choose for myself agreed you if either partner is trying to Fundamentally change the other person it shall never work
00:49:57
Speaker
Yeah. Like whether you stay married and it's just toxic or you can't stay married, if you go into it thinking, well, if they adjust these couple things, we'll be good. Never. Never have I ever. Never. No. I agree. Never. Someone told me that when you are dating someone and you're about to get married, you have to think to yourself, if this person stays exactly the same way they are today. Today.
00:50:26
Speaker
can I deal with this? Not potential, not what I think they can, none of the, today. The money. Can I handle it? The attitude. All of it. The looks. All of it. Yep. All of it. Today. This day. Yep. The only thing I wrote down in my audit points about the Jasmine and Silas thing is I wrote, what does Jasmine need with like 80 question marks after it? Because like I said to you in the recap,
00:50:53
Speaker
I, you know, I stand someone who can have a self-aware moment. Many people try to pull attention and they get jealous when someone else is the center of tension. Very few people can name that about themselves. That's true. Yeah. That's a good, you know what? I'll give you that. I'm like, wow. She is like being humble, like in front of him, vulnerable and really self-aware that she was jealous of that. Um, what do you do with that though? Like what is, what is she going to do with that self-awareness?
00:51:23
Speaker
Cause her husband doesn't seem to give a fuck. Like he wants to know about the pants. No, he has nothing to say about like this revelation she had about herself. And so I'm just, I'm very in turmoil over Jasmine. What does she need? What does she need? She is not getting whatever it is from someone. It's causing her to act out. It's causing her to, she's unhappy and they just made their one year anniversary. I believe today, according to Silas.
00:51:50
Speaker
Oh, wow. So we'll see. We'll see what happens with these two. Wishing you the best. Yeah. Well, do we have audit points or can I go into the list of things that I hate? Oh, I'm done. That was my points have all been addressed. Oh yeah, I'm done too. Let's hit it. Okay.
00:52:09
Speaker
Here's the things that I hate. I hate it when people say shit. Like, I'm not going to apologize for being me. That sounds like. Me too. Me too. Girl, take it to Sally Jessie Raphael. Go. I'm on health, like. You don't know me, that kind of rhetoric. I'm not going to apologize for being me.
00:52:30
Speaker
Yeah. That sounds so vapid. Stop. That's right up there with, I tell it like it is and you can't handle it. That's right. No, you're just a rude person. No, you're rude. And you're avoiding having a vulnerable conversation with me. Absolutely. And now you're shouting. Yeah. Stop. Okay. Here's the next thing I hate.
00:52:46
Speaker
I hate when people make jokes. I'll give you two examples. Like Alex did. I hate when people make jokes about straight people having sex with queer people. Like, oh, you guys are probably hooking up. And it's the same tone and tenor as when someone makes a joke about a black and a white person being like, do we look like twins?
00:53:05
Speaker
And you're like, ha ha ha. Her skin is a different color. Cringe humor. They think it's so funny that one person is gay and another person is not, or that one person is black. And they're like, oh, look at us. Somebody will get us mixed up. And you're like, it's so cringe. It's very beat quiet, Tiffany. You could have just shut up. Alex chose in that moment to speak.
00:53:29
Speaker
Be quiet. Be quiet. I want to go back and audit only Alex's words. I want to translate everything Alex says from episode one to the last episode, and 80% of it is garbage. No one has ever needed to shut up more than this man. All he needs to be doing is cutting hair.
00:53:46
Speaker
That's it. Girl haircuts. Can I say one thing about the haircut that I bothered me? Why didn't they just do it outside? Like the thought of all that hair just getting on the floor. It's cold. They're fucking cold. They could do it tomorrow morning. The house, the house is dirty. The house is my case. Maybe that's why they don't care. I've been telling you all about that dirty house. Been telling you go back and listen. I've been bothered by this the whole time. It's dirty. They have a dog that sits on the floor and now they have hair everywhere. Yeah. Go outside.
00:54:15
Speaker
Here's another thing, and this is cultural, y'all. I gotta know about this, okay? I'm reading The Trouble with White Women, but when we talk about cussing people out, I don't think it means what I think it means. What do you think it means? Well, when I have grown up here and cussing someone out, that means you are swearing at them.
00:54:38
Speaker
you are saying, fuck you, you stupid motherfucking piece of shit. Asshole. You literally went into it. That is so funny. This is an example. This is so an example. That is what causing someone out means. I have come to learn in my journey with a variety of people of color that maybe cussing someone out means something different than that to other people.
00:55:02
Speaker
Because I hear people say, oh, I talked to the lady at the bank. I cussed her out. I'm like, you did? You cursed, you said swear word. And then I'm like, oh no, you just like were a little bit mean to them or like mad at them. Or you'd like push back a little bit. Sometimes not that much. Is that true?
00:55:23
Speaker
Um, give me an example. You both. Okay. Okay. So pretend like your cousin, what's a bad word in your house because shut up was a bad word at my house. So lie was a bad word at my grandmother's house. Telling you can't say telling a lie. You can't say shut up. You can't raise your voice. Um, you should say, sir, ma'am, ma'am. So really cussing out as an adult person living my life right now,
00:55:49
Speaker
Cussing out is mostly me just giving you the business. It is likely that I might say a couple of big words, like bad words, but I'm giving you the business. It can still be cussing out and so can traditional cussing you out. Cursing out, if I say I curse someone out, I did exactly what Brent just did. Oh my God. You will hear about some words like just assume that
00:56:12
Speaker
Whoever I said this to, they don't speak to me anymore. Wait, I'm sorry. How often are you cussing people out? I don't curse people out. I have never pressed someone out. Because if I do, the reason why I have it is because if I do, I'm going to do exactly what Brent just said. I'm going to drive you into the ground and then just spy. But a lot of people I notice, Brent,
00:56:40

If we're having a disagreement and I use a curse word, I'm like, yeah, I'm sick of this shit. People are like, oh, yeah, curse me out. So that is a fact. That is true. That means people of color, if it's a heated moment and there is a curse word used, they will be like, oh, she just cussed me out. She cussed me out. Because people will say, oh, yeah, I had to curse her out.
00:57:06
Speaker
And then we went out to lunch. I'm like, after you. The cost spectrum is, but remember, disrespectful. It's so, you know, it's, yeah, it's very different. Wow. I learned so much. We do what we can. Yeah.
00:57:29
Speaker
All right, that's the things I hate y'all. But wait, we have a couple extra moments, right? Yeah.
00:57:37
Speaker
Kayla? That would be good. Oh, I do. I do. Okay. Greetings, everyone. Something that I'm really been thinking a lot about is Bebe Rexha performed the day before Juneteenth, whatever day that is.

Concert Safety Concerns with Bebe Rexha and Ava Max

00:57:50
Speaker
And she was, you know, on stage. Yes. Kiki keying. Somebody threw their cell phone at her. It hit her in the face. She turns around, kneels down on the ground in pain. Later we find out Bebe has stitches.
00:58:06
Speaker
And she's bruising. And I, before we discuss this, I just, what are y'all doing at concerts?
00:58:14
Speaker
No, I don't go to concerts. What are you doing? I want everyone, listeners, DMS, what are you doing at concerts? Never in my life, as much as I pay for this phone, never in my life would I throw my phone. For these concert tickets, Jesus. Or for these concert tickets, would I ever throw my phone? And whoever did this, who needs to reveal themselves, I think they've been revealed. You have the arm of an NFL player because you can't do it. They threw it because she wouldn't take a picture.
00:58:42
Speaker
And you think throwing it would help? Look, this is your generation. This is Gen Z doing these things. No, I think post-pandemic. We are millennials. People post-pandemic, and I will say this across generations, do not know how to act. Before, in 2019, we were throwing phones. Everyone's locked up. No, we were throwing phones. If a phone hit me,
00:59:07
Speaker
And I was singing my song, by the grace of God, I perform again. This is why people don't want to perform. This is why artists say they don't want to perform anymore.
00:59:19
Speaker
She's fine, but still pray for her. But can you believe? I would be traumatized. You're not getting your phone back. It's mine. You're not getting your phone back. I'm pressing charges and I can't believe you would pay all of this money to be on the front row just to do this. To abuse me. Pressing charges is not funny, but it is the funniest phrase to me. It is funny. I always laugh.
00:59:43
Speaker
Me. That's why I use it all the time. I always use an impression charges because I think it's so obnoxious and hilarious. It's so funny. You'll be speaking. You'll be hearing from my attorney. He told me that in an argument once when we were like 21, he goes, this is it. You're hearing from my lawyer. And me and my mom laughed until we cried. He was so serious. Here is what the lawyer says, OK, about this. Todd is a lawyer for Nicholas. It's a man that threw this phone.
01:00:11
Speaker
I hate it. Why? I hate it. I thought it was a woman. Of course I did. I thought it was a woman too. Nicholas Malvanga is the person. And the lawyer says, as a fan, Mr. Malvanga's sole intention was to have Ms. Rex to take photos with his phone and return it as a keepsake. What? He thought she's going to catch the phone, take a selfie and toss it back to me.
01:00:38
Speaker
Clowns and queens, y'all. It's clowns and queens right here. You threw it that hard. Knock this woman off her feet. Off her feet. Off. Of course, there's a new explanation seems to contradict with what the Manhattan DA's office claims a witness told them, Malvonga said. DA? Yeah, allegedly claiming continue. Come on. Just wanted to see if he could hit her, thinking it would be funny. Oh my god. That is a brave witness, Jane Doe. Thank you for coming forward.
01:01:06
Speaker
She got rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rocked by this phone. Rock
01:01:25
Speaker
I'm not using breaking news. You just annoyed me. I just saw this. Do you want to say something? Do you want to say like, I mean, everyone cares for BB, but do you want to, you've nothing else? No, that's literally it. I just got annoyed by that. Well, okay. But I do have to say while I was trying to look up this thing where I thought that they had identified the phone thrower, there's another headline that said, hold on, about somebody getting slapped.
01:01:53
Speaker
Look, I'm slapped at the B.V. Raxacons. This must have been the event of the century. What do you mean? Singer Ava Maxx slapped by fan on stage.
01:02:04
Speaker
How do we get up there? These, the girls are never performing again. Y'all, it's canceled. All of a sudden. Can you imagine? Now rush the stage and swipe to her. It's a man. It's a motherfucking man. Oh my God. Oh my God. Slaps her. He manages to slap her. Even as security was dragging him off stage and Ava played it off well and she later explained she suffered an injury, a scratch to the eye. He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He's never coming to a show again.
01:02:34
Speaker
And Eva Maxx performs all the time. Oh my God, Keala. What is going on? I'm watching this video of Bebe Rexha. Isn't it wild? It may have well been like a whole brick hitting her face. Like that is crazy. It knocked her down. Everybody get on the submersible and go to the bottom of the fucking ocean and stay there. That's what I was going to say. Wow. Readers, as we're talking to you today is June 21st.
01:03:04
Speaker
And the sub-mercile has not been found yet. No. We have 12 hours. We have 12 hours. And we had to unpack it when there's time and distance between now

Reflecting on Reality TV Themes

01:03:13
Speaker
and this moment. We do. We do. We do. I'm sorry. I skipped us for our villain and hero update. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's wrap it up for that. That's a good way to wrap up. Yeah. Go first, somebody else.
01:03:27
Speaker
Although you go first, my hero, whoo, you're going to like it. Jordan and Preston are my heroes. Okay. She's my friend. Episode villains. I said, Alex Silas, Adam, the original man from God's rib.
01:03:44
Speaker
Fuck out of here. She went biblical. All of you. Who can I blame? I don't get into this. Alex. Maybe the person who threw a phone with this young woman. Get the fuck out of here. Yes. Next. Ooh. Villain. Every man but Preston. Period. Hero.
01:04:09
Speaker
Simon and Bria, they stayed in there, but this hero behavior, their own apartment, Simon and Bria and Milo, we should get a special. Yeah. They were minding their business. They gossip with each other. They recap for each other. Alex make a research on Shanice.
01:04:33
Speaker
And we made research on PBRXF. That's right. Yes, we did. I support them. OK, Jasmine. And for me, oh boy, my villain is Silas Jordan. Oh, OK. And then my hero is also Shanice and Simon as well. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Shanice. Sorry, not Shanice. Rhea and Simon.
01:05:02
Speaker
Raiders, my jaw hit the floor. It's about to be 30 minutes longer. That was so scary. No, no, no, no, no, no. Bria and Simon. All right. Well, this was fun. We have one more and I'm excited because we have this last episode and then I'm going to pitch you all on doing a reflection episode.
01:05:30
Speaker
about both what we wanna do next. We'll take a little hiatus, we're gonna go on break. But I have some real thought, like this has really opened my eyes to some major reality TV themes that I'm like eager to unpack as a group. I would love to see it in myself like that. I would be honored, honored.
01:05:47
Speaker
Let's do it. I'm going to be asked because nobody else wants to talk about it with me. That's perfect. I'm always getting more discussion of current events. 100%. All right, everyone. Thank you so much for listening. If you made it this far, because this is another long episode, but I thoroughly enjoyed the last one. I was into it while I was walking the dog and it was great. Anyways.
01:06:14
Speaker
Be your own fan. Be your own, bet on yourself is what Jasmine said. That's right. I'm not going to apologize for being me. I never want to apologize for being me. I want to have fun. Oh my gosh.
