ah Palace, you know, now building some gap between them and that, you know, the team fighting for relegation is now seven, Palace have gone one point above Man United now, seven points separating Palace and Everton, ah you know, and then the rest of the park battling for the relegation, battling relegation. um But when you look at the result tonight, so what was stands out for you?

I think it it was a game before me and Dan when we previewed it on Monday, but saying that it could have the potential to be really tricky. ah You know, Leicester fighting for their lives, us just above the relegation zone. um It was, yeah, it could have been a really tricky fixture for us. So I would have been happy with a point pre-match, to be honest. So to come away with all three is massive.

um And it just shows that we're building in the right direction. Like you mentioned there, the kind of run of form that we're on is um yeah it's building. And I think our sites now should perhaps be looking into the top half of the table, you know pushing for 10th, trying to close the gap on

those teams. Because I think tonight we showed our quality like to take on the teams in the relegation zone. And we did it against Ipswich just before Christmas as well. We've got a good 1-0 there.

um So yeah, you know it's another clean sheet. and offer ah I wouldn't say it was a solid performance. It was it was a job done kind of performance like at the start of the season. those you know we we ah We conceded some chances um and those were going against us at the start of the season, but it feels like the tables have turned a little bit. um So yeah, I think overall it was Yeah, it was a kind of gritty performance from us and we took our chances when we needed to.

but um but let so you know You mentioned the fun building. It's it's now 17 points in the last 10 games for Palace. considering the fact that you know the team has a total of 24 points in the league.

What it means is it was seven points and in 11 games at first. So um you know the yes, that the momentum is building. Yes, but but what what what what what we've seen ah in the last couple of games is some level of um efficient performances from Palace. Yes, they're giving chances away. It's not the most solid performance in a lot of games. Most teams have in possession more than the Eagles, but they then to find a way to get the goals, create chances. It was a great ah chance, ah that the first goal, scored by Mateta. The goal by Gaye was an absolute fantastic goal as well. So what what we've seen in the last couple of games ah as has been, oh, I've been very efficient performances from last night, don't you think?

Yeah, I think efficient is definitely the right word. um but It was sort of similar against Stockport right on Sunday in like, we didn't have 100% control of the match. It didn't feel like at any point, like we had complete command of the match.

But I think that's the sign of a team that's kind of confident and building is that like they can turn it around, ah switch. um And I think being defensively solid at first is like a massive foundation to build on. And although Lester hit the bar, yes. Vardy put a couple wide. like I just ah feel like our defense knows each other now, um even without Chalaba leaving.

um it's like It feels together um and the whole team feels like that. Like, obviously, Lerma went off early today in the match, but then Decoré comes in and it's like the players know exactly what they're doing, which wasn't there at the start of the season. um So, yeah, it feels like that kind of solidity is important and the clean sheets are against teams like Leicester who have such dangerous attacking players alike.
Set-Pieces as a Scoring Strategy

keeping clean sheets a massive confidence boost for a team like us. um And when you've got Mateta and Sa and Eze, you can turn it on and and score these goals. So yeah, I think that efficiency and that solidity is what's going to help us get further up the table and sort of put that pat that bad start behind us as well.

Yeah, Alex, says let's talk about the defence. You union talk about the defence, you know, knowing themselves, but I'm going to take the focus away from them stop stopping goals now by getting goals. ah You know, um set piece set-pieces look as being a very ah good option for Palace in the last couple of games, and we we saw that again ah with that goal by Gaye. Gaye now, that was his third Premier League goal. I think Trevish Alaba has got three goals as well.

La Croix I think has two there about those eight goals in all coming from the defense ah the the You know the guys goes current the league for policies John Philip Mateta with six goals and we've got the fenders, you know scoring 50% of what he's got at the moment and it does look like that is something that ah policies building on and and that that is is' Looking like a ah theme so to speak, you know, especially for a team that's not, you know having all the possession and That's given some chances away set pieces. Definitely is is ah is Is a tool that you know any any team like that will be looking to use to out the opponent and and that's exactly what you know palace I've been doing because That's just that's yet another goal from set this by my cage. Um, maybe he should give some tips to to Eddie and Kettie on the training ground that might help a little bit. But, um, yeah, the set pieces are great. as a clearly knew where he wanted to put the ball. Gehi knew exactly where he needed to be and it just came off perfectly, like we caught Lester a bit cold there. um And when you've got players like Gehi and Lacroix Mateta, who are physical guys, you know, who like to put their body on the line.

It just gives us another threat to take the pressure off like Eze and Mateta as well. um So yeah, hopefully we can continue to to frustrate opponents or you know cause a bit of havoc, just like Arsenal have been doing as well from set pieces.
