This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris revisit M3GAN's original rampage from 2022 as she returns to theaters this weekend in M3GAN 2.0.

One of the biggest recent hits for Blumhouse, M3GAN stars Allison Williams as Gemma, a robotics engineer and toy designer who gains custody of her niece, Cady (Violet McGraw), after Cady's parents are killed in a car crash.  Unprepared for parenting, Gemma decides to use her latest creation, a highly advanced AI doll named M3GAN (Amie Donald/Jenna Davis), to try to help Cady.  While great at first, M3GAN begins to extend her directive to protect Cady from harm into killing anything she deems a threat.  Zach and Chris discuss why you would immediately give M3GAN access to the internet, how Funki Toys has access to military-grade hardware, the comparisons to Child's Play, the increased violence of the unrated cut, M3GAN's viral dance moves, and more.

You can watch M3GAN on Starz or buy/rent it from various digital platforms.  Next week, we're heading back to Isla Sorna to revisit Jurassic Park III before Jurassic World: Rebirth opens in theaters.

I'm your co-host, Chris.

Megan Movie Series Overview

00:00:27
Speaker
And this week we are creepily dancing back to 2022 and talking about Megan. Megan. Because Megan 2.0 is out this weekend. The, uh, I think Highlight Discipline sequel that looks like it's gonna, like, totally go in a different, like, become more of like, an action movie.
00:00:43
Speaker
Like, Terminator 2.
00:00:47
Speaker
Um, I don't, Megan 2.0 doesn't seem like a horror movie at all. No, it's like a comedy... Action comedy? Yeah, action comedy, I guess.
00:00:58
Speaker
Unless, like, um the other robot does, like, some stalker-ish things and and more creepy kills, like, it's just, like, not that. Like, you know, like, it's gonna be more, like, catchphrase.
00:01:12
Speaker
The weird, like, pop culture of Megan. Yeah.
00:01:18
Speaker
I mean, i was like the first one is, I would say, is like barely a horror movie. it's ah It's a horror movie in the same way that like Seed of Chucky is a horror movie, or like Bride of Chucky. Yeah. yeah Where it's mostly about over-the-top campy humor and insanity, and then every a while there will be like a horror movie kill sequence.
00:01:39
Speaker
I think it's because it's just visually jarring to see a smaller object kill. So it's like automatically campy because it's almost in that realm of like a leprechaun movie except instead of like magic and and like curses it's um it's just like a Roomba with legs well I mean it obviously owes a huge debt to Child's Play i mean that's like probably the closest like the direct reference but then it's crazy because the Child's Play your reboot was more like Megan where it's like a like
00:02:17
Speaker
that Chucky was like an AI robot. I think that came out like a year or two after Megan came out. Before, think. Before? oh yeah, 2019. So yeah, that's that's also weird.
00:02:31
Speaker
They might have borrowed from the reboot of Child's Play 2. ah They just improved upon the formula of AI that gets way too personal and then the no morality clause in AI.
00:02:45
Speaker
Mm-hmm. I don't know why they never did like a Turner test to the AI. A Turing test?
00:02:55
Speaker
Yeah. There's there's there's like basically no no no one is doing anything the proper way this movie. Everyone's just like, yeah, let let's just do it and see what happens.
00:03:07
Speaker
Yeah, pretty much. It's just like, I don't know. like We'll fix it later. Yeah.

Satire on Toy Company 'Funky'

00:03:16
Speaker
um But yeah, so basically, kicking things off, you got this toy company called Funky is the toy company, and they they've they make Perpetual Pets, which is like a Furby knockoff.
00:03:32
Speaker
Which, I don't know. I do like those ah that opening commercial is so ridiculous. Yeah. and such It's such a great like satire of like, you gotta use the app and feed it.
00:03:44
Speaker
feed and then download download like microtransactions buy new costumes for your in-app pet pet pet preual pat i just wish the commercial looked a little bit better because it looks like a highqual snl like yeah
00:04:02
Speaker
but you can tell they wanted to keep it like under a budget they didn't want to like kind of pull focus from this thing that probably will come out one day. You know i mean? Like, I feel like some toy company is just waiting for the right moment to unleash basically this thing.
00:04:21
Speaker
Well, if like Furby stayed a thing, there would there would be like a new Furby now that would be, you know, AI and like ah hooked up to the internets and hooked up to an app, Bluetooth.
00:04:33
Speaker
I think a few years ago, um I think it's either Family Guy or American Dad did the spoof like this. Where the toy is from China. and It's like, hold up like your parents' credit card bill like in front of it. Leave it in front of your dad's like um workplace.
00:04:52
Speaker
what what's your What's your mom's maiden name?

Gemma's New Guardianship Role

00:04:59
Speaker
but yeah But the designer of The Perpetual Pet is ah Gemma. Gemma, who's played by Allison Williams. And ah her she has she comes to the guardian of her niece, Katie, because they hit her in a horrible accident in the mountains.
00:05:17
Speaker
They're in a classic parent like elimination like move where it's like we need a like, we need to drive during this like terrible weather situation, and I also need to talk to my daughter at the same time.
00:05:30
Speaker
We're going on a ski trip, and nothing's going to stop us from going on a ski trip, even a blizzard.
00:05:38
Speaker
Which, like, and it's like I think they mentioned, like, like there's, like, a police officer like, a park ranger or something like, told him to turn around or, like, don't go up there if you don't have chains on your tires, then you go anyway. so totally on them.
00:05:50
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's definitely, like, I don't know, like, my family didn't do a lot of, like, winter sports. So, it's, like, there's not a need to get there in time for things like that.
00:06:02
Speaker
Like, no one no one gets into a winter storm accident during the summer. No, it doesn't happen. So they'll still be there. No. Yeah. Well, that and I guess it's like the urgency. It's crazy because like.
00:06:17
Speaker
They seem well to do. Yes. Like once in a lifetime trip. If it's some urgent like, oh, grandma is going to be there. Like, you know, it's a more family reunion. We need to be there on time.
00:06:30
Speaker
It just seemed like a random weekend trip. So, I'm not downplaying car accidents, but, again, it's just like, this was such a, like, Disney-esque setup for this girl.
00:06:45
Speaker
Yes. Like, in another movie, this is, like, how you be begin a Disney movie. <unk> like, well, your parents died in a tragic accident. Now you're, now you live with your aunt. Your aunt that is, like... Absolutely unprepared for and raising a child. Yeah.
00:07:01
Speaker
The aunt that is like the classic working person who doesn't have time for love. Yes. It's like an 80s character that they fall into, but she's written to be more modern where she's a robotic, but like a robotic scientist.
00:07:17
Speaker
Which is fine because I like that. like It's a like ah it's like tried and true trope that um you can pretty much swap out. If it's a guy, girl, like if it's an uncle, if it's a cousin, like if it's a brother or sister, like it's a very classic figure.
00:07:34
Speaker
But they they already do the whole, like she has no maternal instincts, no guardian instincts to be like, oh, like we should go to a park or something, or let me take you to the beach. because it's like I do it. Deadline.
00:07:53
Speaker
I do love how like like openly terrible she is. there like when kate like The first thing he does like when when she walks into her house is like, oh, you got these robot toys? like Oh, no, those are toys. Those are collectibles. Don't touch
00:08:09
Speaker
those. Okay, again, she she's not a kid-friendly person. No. I mean, no offense, it's like... but if your family came over and were just like can i like rub jelly on all your like collectibles i'm like no yeah but to a kid that makes sense to them but also katie's like 12. nine nine i think she's she says she's nine oh it does it does feel like it's hard to pin an age on her because like she draw makes that drawing and it drawing looks like it's like a five-year-old drew it like like that like monster drawing she drew like it does look It's a little, it looks like a little younger. Either Katie's a horrible artist or it's sorry it's hard to pin down what age she's supposed to be. But I think she like specifically says she's nine and like later on, like they may make her do like a promo video for Megan for the big like press conference.
00:09:04
Speaker
She's like i'm not it's like, I'm Katie, I'm nine years old.
00:09:10
Speaker
But yeah, so yeah because Gemma has no maternal skills. um but And also because she sees how Katie interacts with her robot she made

Gemma's Technical Prowess

00:09:21
Speaker
in college. Like this giant industrial robot.
00:09:24
Speaker
Bruce. Bruce. Bruce is the best character. where did Where did she go to college when she had like ah access to build like this this like giant industrial like sized robot and then also like able to like take it home with her? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the property of the college.
00:09:39
Speaker
Probably. If you use if you use like all their resources to build it, I'm sure it's like, well, the Cow Jones owns this now I'm also thinking, like, why didn't Bruce become like a mass-produced thing for anything else?
00:09:53
Speaker
Was that the only Bruce? Yeah. Well, doesn't she say that she was thinking about making that a toy, too? Like, who's going to buy a Bruce? Yeah. thought it be more like a factory worker or... Yeah, it'ss it's it's it looks like an automobile factory robot.
00:10:13
Speaker
Or it would be like a forklift like replacement. like its like that like Bruce can like just like carry things around warehouses and stuff.
00:10:23
Speaker
But it's like it's like loaded up with like all like every possible sensor you could possibly have. And then you wear power gloves to control it.
00:10:31
Speaker
which i do i also I love the... You have pound your fists together to power the the power gloves on just because because it looks cool. It's a very aggressive like interface to use. It's like, alright, well, you gotta be limber yourself to like maneuver the mechanics.
00:10:51
Speaker
And then it does the rock-em-sock-em motions if you battle-bot with it.
00:10:58
Speaker
So it's like Again, we're not exploring how this like became like her entry into the toy making world. um yeah i said just like It's a crazy, like, oh, this is the MacGuffin for later plot.
00:11:14
Speaker
Yeah. Was that was that like her resume or her like application to Funky? was like, hey, I built this giant industrial robot. like Oh, great, we make toys. Yeah. So it's like, oh, like, what's it made out of Like, oh, plastic gears and Lego pieces. Like, perfect. Military grade steel. Yeah, it's like, oh, it's it's like prop proprietary alloys and and like sprockets that only exist on military grade, like rockets, you know, it's like. and it has like a hot quarter It has like a quarter million dollars of like sensors in it.
00:11:45
Speaker
Yeah, it's like, oh, each part is like. It's like an of parts inside this thing. Like, what? which that's That's the thing with Megan, too. Because like Megan has you know this like crazy like Terminator endoskeleton and super advanced AI chip. and So, i get as a prototype you want to build the best version, but it's overkill for how much metal goes into this like prototype model.
00:12:13
Speaker
You would think maybe scale it down a bit. do like a small wonder kind of size or even tight smaller than that. Yeah.

AI Complexities in Megan

00:12:24
Speaker
But I guess like this size is perfect for like little kids of that age because the height matches. But you know i mean Like it's like realistically in any kind of fabrication company that is trying to make prototype, like, you don't need to build it to scale.
00:12:41
Speaker
Like, the humans will bond with things as long as it has, like, a face. You know, like, a certain amount of, like, anatomy parts. yeah Humans are so surprisingly dumb. You know?
00:12:51
Speaker
They will bond with, like, Alexa sometimes. Well, that was the whole point, like um like, they put, like, you know, goggles on Bruce. Like, oh, look, he's, he's like, now he's a hu now he has, like, human face. He's likable now.
00:13:03
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm just like, okay, so you don't mean like Boston Dynamic Robots, like there's a reason why we don't give them like you before like human features because like they do a lot of thing crazy things to them so they don't want to feel bad like in the soul. But Megan, they went hard into making her look like a human like really fast.
00:13:22
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, just i'm I'm curious where Funky like has the resources to order um ah like looks like military grade technology. It reminded me a lot of, like, you know, in Small Soldiers, when they, like, they order, like, military chips for, like, the action figures.
00:13:41
Speaker
It's like, where they order this stuff from. At least the molds of the toys make sense that, like, it's a toy company. Yeah. And then whatever AI that was powering them was the, like, crazy, like, wrong thing that, um, again, Small Soldiers is, like, you brought it up, I'm like,
00:14:01
Speaker
It's very similar to Megan, where, like, they couldn't bond with the humans, so they wanted to kill the humans. Actually, not really. well well Well, the thing about, like, Small Soldiers 2 is that, like, the company, like, Heartland Toys...
00:14:15
Speaker
like got bought by a giant like defense contractor, so it made sense that they had like you know military technology. But, like, Funky is just Funky. They're just a toy company. that They're not're not like a confobber. There's no, like, weaponry division within them.
00:14:30
Speaker
They just had cool stuff to play with. They made a fake Furby.
00:14:36
Speaker
So... a Yeah, the... The idea of, like, hey, we should, like... use a real trauma victim and we should use the robot with no morality and we should pair them together and see how this goes. Let's try this robot on my emotionally shattered knees.
00:14:58
Speaker
And then let's um unleash this robot that has access to the internet. debt That is their... like I can't believe... like Every other movie that has taught us, like don't let the AIs onto the internet. Because...
00:15:13
Speaker
The second they get on the internet, they're like, oh, kill humanity. I'm just gonna, like, take a quick Google search, and I want to destroy everything. Mm-hmm. I'm gonna go on Twitter. I think, like, but, like, kids and AI always goes together well, because, like, kids are innocent. They're new.
00:15:30
Speaker
And then AI is, like, the robot's always new, so when they see that, they're like, well, I can, like, reshape this. I can try my version of parenting. Mm-hmm. That's also kind of cool about, like, what happens, but It doesn't go right. like and other i mean okay so While this movie was coming out, I think the rise of like AI companions... Chat GPT and stuff?
00:15:52
Speaker
no no no Not even that? and When humans can't have an AI companion and it's either like, oh, I need to murder this bot or i'm gonna make love do it. That's like a trend in a lot of these movies.
00:16:04
Speaker
Megan is the one where it's like, oh, it doesn't do any of that. like It doesn't do the traditional, like I want to murder my like person I'm with, but I will murder everyone else.
00:16:15
Speaker
Yeah, she's she's in like the like over overprotective like mode. but I mean, so like what I mean by that too is also like Westworld came out a few years before this.
00:16:27
Speaker
who Which also influenced the halla way we see like robots and humans interact. And it's like, who's more human? The robot or the human?
00:16:36
Speaker
ah But Megan doesn't put that. Megan is straight up like, once she one she turns on to like kill protect mode, it's like, alright, well, she's obviously the villain. there's no There's no good way to say that she is the tragic hero in this movie.
00:16:55
Speaker
Yo, know ah to her credit though, like but most of the people that she kills are pretty terrible. Well, they're mean, but they're not like... Mean, like annoying, like like there's a a vicious dog.
00:17:08
Speaker
the dog didn't kill the little girl's parents. Mm-hmm. I understand maybe if the, it was like the, the like car, like whatever, like another family that caused the thing and then Megan seeks them out and like gets her idea of justice.
00:17:27
Speaker
That would be kind of like, oh, okay. So, you know, it's like, maybe she just misunderstands. But then the neighbor part is just like crazy. Like, oh, this is just, this is James Wan wish fulfillment.
00:17:40
Speaker
like Yeah. Like yeah he had an annoying neighbor. He's like, man, I wish there was a way to legally get rid of her where a human was not involved. Yes, if so if she could die in a way that I won't be criminally like liable for.
00:17:56
Speaker
Also, was the pesticides the neighbors or was that just like in ah the aunt's house? it's i think I think that scene's in the neighbor's garage.
00:18:07
Speaker
They like and there's they like throwback, it's a callback to earlier because when, like, I think when they first, like, when Katie first comes home and, like, the neighbor's, like, spraying stuff with, like, their, like, driveway. And then Gemma's like, would you stop spraying your chemicals in my driveway?
00:18:24
Speaker
then get your dog out of here? yeah I feel like the neighbor shouldn't be mixing dangerous chemicals and having a dog, you know? I feel like that should have been, like, Katie has the dangerous chemicals.
00:18:38
Speaker
And then the neighbor's like, hey... I don't like you having these chemicals. It's bad for my dog. And then there's the tension. some Something with, like, Gemma has, like, some sort of acid that is necessary for making robots.
00:18:54
Speaker
it like It, like, burns up backard it burns off like the excess, like, 3D printing stuff or something. I could see that. Like, it's a resin cleaner. And then the neighbor complains about the fumes.
00:19:08
Speaker
and then Megan's just like, oh, you hate the smell and douses her in it. That's like a Chucky thing. I feel like they definitely were thinking about Chucky movies and then they went, alright, let's do this instead. There's a scene that's almost very, very similar to the neighbor kill in Megan where Chucky kills guy in his tool shed or garage because he can take over the equipment.
00:19:31
Speaker
toolchetter garage because you can like take over like like ah the equipment Because he has access to the internet. Yes.
00:19:43
Speaker
But also, remake Chucky was also just like malfunctioning or got sabotaged.
00:19:52
Speaker
But it is it is very similar where it's like, yeah, I will i will kill anyone that like like threatens... like i think it was Danny in that movie. but then And then here it's like Megan is like in... like It's like, i will anything that's going harm Katie, I'm going to get rid of it.
00:20:10
Speaker
so So, like, you've got to think, at some point, um Gemma should have been like, hey, we should do like a personality test with Megan and just kind of check in to say, do you think killing's wrong?
00:20:29
Speaker
mean, she does that, like, way too late. yeah Yeah, she does it way too late before she, like, gets suspicious, but... I don't know, like, I feel like a lot of people test bug ChatGPT to ask it crazy questions around this time, and then, like, even the robot, like, there's enough data where, like, they had to put it, like, in real life, they had to put, like, a filter on ChatGPT, so that way can't just do things, but, like, there are other rogue machine-learn, like, languages that are just like, oh, no, based on, like, what I found online...
00:20:59
Speaker
you know, do this. you're like, oh my god.

AI Limitations and Dangers

00:21:02
Speaker
Oh, yeah, there's, like, there's like unrestricted ones there, but it's like, like how how can I murder someone? It's like, here you go, here's, like, the best way to kill someone, or, like, here's how to make poisons, or, like... Yeah, yeah, it's just because it's, like, scraped into whatever internet, whatever crazy website someone just wrote. They're like, yeah, that makes sense.
00:21:17
Speaker
Yeah. So, I don't know what, I mean, now as, like, someone who knows how, like, AI resources are made, you figure whatever data pool that, like,
00:21:28
Speaker
Gemma was making, you know, I don't think she's like a put like a ah data scientist where she really should selectively pick what AI model she was taking and like filter that be like, okay, what's this? like We should probably make it not swear.
00:21:44
Speaker
All these other things. Well, I think Megan later on she's like, I mean, you create this, a like, you use this AI algorithm you have no idea what how it works, then you and just, like, let it, do you didn't, like, have any controls over it what do you think was going to happen?
00:22:00
Speaker
Yeah. Which I do love, like, self-aware, like, just, like, fourth wall breaking back and just, like, you see movies, like, you're stupid idiot, like, can put, like, an AI, like, an untested AI in me.
00:22:14
Speaker
That is pretty cool. like I do like that Megan is aware. I thought it wouldn't be. I thought this movie initially was going to be one of those, like, no one says the obvious parts out loud.
00:22:27
Speaker
But it has enough respect for, like, the viewers to be like, how weird is this, right? This wouldn't happen if, like, there was restrictions. Yeah.
00:22:38
Speaker
Yeah, but but note yeah no... The test is let's let's put Katie... Let's bond Katie with ah what's Megan and then ah see what happens.
00:22:49
Speaker
we ever We'll take her home and see what happens. i mean, for all intents and purposes, if it wasn't Killer Robot, this is a great product. This is a great like trauma thing, but you definitely need the human part of it.
00:23:02
Speaker
It should be like an intro device. Yeah. it's It's definitely better than, like, those trauma puppets that they give people and, like, hold this and then tell us how you feel. Like, this is a good, like, intermediate before we get to, like, the next level of how, like, people can decompress with, like, a thing feel safe. um But, like, the middle act of this movie is a, like, self-discovery of Gemma's, like, oh, I need a camera.
00:23:34
Speaker
and that, like, that's my niece. I need to, like, I should be there. but why After she just, like, abandons any sense of, like, parental responsibility to Megan. Yep. It's like, Megan, you're the mom now.
00:23:46
Speaker
Go, like, just handle everything. And I'll work on my, I'll, like, lounge around on my iPad or, like, go to work. Like, it kind of makes sense, but then I'm like, what are the other, like, scientists that Gemma works with doing?
00:24:01
Speaker
Tests and, uh,
00:24:05
Speaker
I think they bring Megan in like every day or every like like and other day. like so They have some sort of schedule where they bring her and do testing and look everything. They're not doing their job because they definitely found like a big loophole, like a big gap.
00:24:20
Speaker
But, okay. I also thought there should have been an assistant, like maybe another one, that was like definitely like the asshole assistant that you know Megan's just like, oh, I can't wait to get you. Because you don't get that.
00:24:34
Speaker
I mean, I guess i guess i guess like they try to make Ryan Chang that, like because he's like the boss, and he's just overbearing and an idiot. like Just like, I only care about money.
00:24:49
Speaker
like, we're going to make so much money on Megan.
00:24:54
Speaker
But he's just the boss. I mean, he's not screaming in front Megan, is he?
00:25:00
Speaker
No, I think i think only like the only time we like he sees Megan before the big like press conference at the end is just in that like the initial test, like those two tests, where like, when Gemma first shows Megan to him, and he's like, holy fucking shit, we're gonna make but so much money. And then they have like the stockholder meet like presentation.
00:25:21
Speaker
Which is funny, because like it also feels like this can also be a scripted thing.
00:25:27
Speaker
You know, it's like, oh, I get the presentation, but then it's like, um we'll do the demo. And then it's like, is that just a little girl in that robot costume?
00:25:36
Speaker
Like, no. It's totally a real robot. Yeah.
00:25:44
Speaker
If I was one of the investor guys, I'd be like, open her up. Yep. Look at your robot face.
00:25:51
Speaker
I want to get in there and ask it questions.
00:25:56
Speaker
we We haven't mentioned yet, but it it is like um like Amy Donald, who's the actual body actor for Megan, isn't is incredible.
00:26:06
Speaker
Yep.

Acting Highlights in Megan

00:26:08
Speaker
Great performance. A lot of like good miming of robotic motions. And then just like... I think like there has to be another person that does like the stunt work to be thrown around.
00:26:22
Speaker
what I think she's she's like a dance champion and like a brown belt a karate. Oh, wow. So I think she was doing a like pretty much all of it. when megan When Megan's sitting still, it's like an animatronic, and then any sort of like actual like movement or you know obviously like all the like flips and dancing later on is Amy Donald.
00:26:44
Speaker
and that And then that in combination with Jesse Davis who does the voice, is it's like that the combo is just fantastic. Janet Davis is the voice of Megan.
00:26:57
Speaker
Which, like, yeah, Megan's voice is, like the like, it's just the perfect, like, like um it's always creepy even when it its like she's, like, trying to be, like, like supportive to Katie.
00:27:11
Speaker
And then when she, like, totally turns like really turns it on, it's, like, it's it's ah it's great.
00:27:17
Speaker
But I think... The scene that, like, sums up, like, the entire movie, to me, is, like, just like the add to this movie is, like, after... ah Megan kills Brendan, like the bully.
00:27:30
Speaker
And like, she's like, in like like like like you know, Katie's just like, is Brendan really in a better place? And like, Megan basically says like, no, he's in hell. And then she like sings titanium to her and then like, it's like, oh good night.
00:27:45
Speaker
Yeah, I laughed at that. Yeah. It's so like out of place and surreal. And then there's no like, oh, Katie doesn't just go like, I need to tell an adult.
00:27:58
Speaker
because Yeah, because Megan basically admits like that she killed Brendan. Yeah, but Katie's so traumatized and so like hungry for attention that like she's like, well, that's what my guardian does. Yeah, he was he was like a budding soldier like psychopath.
00:28:15
Speaker
Which, I mean, yeah, he is trying to jam sharp into Katie's hand. Yeah. sharp like it' the kidtiess are a hand
00:28:26
Speaker
it you know Do we even see the parent? It's it's like that like the hippie, dippy like mom that's like talking to Gemma when they're making sandwiches. but like It's like it's it's a the classic like no rules, turn this kid into an asshole.
00:28:43
Speaker
Too much freedom. They just go to kill.
00:28:49
Speaker
and i think i think I think you saw like the... the regular version, like, do you... Because, like, I know in the unrated version, like, him getting his ear ripped off is, like, insane. Like, it stretches out so much. You just see, like, the whole thing just, like, ripping off slowly.
00:29:03
Speaker
no I think it's really fast. It's just, like, slicing. Like, alright, that sucks. Yeah, definitely. i would I would highly recommend the unrated version if anyone's, like, one of us, like, rewatched that again or if you have if you've never seen it.
00:29:15
Speaker
ah Yeah, the unrated version just for the... There's not a lot of gore this movie. It's only, like, yeah really... four scenes so when you get to actually the gore kills and it's like oh my god it's intense it makes up for like the gaps
00:29:32
Speaker
i do also love in the uh the brendan kill scene when megan just starts running on all fours like yeah it's just so crazy unnatural which i guess i guess you she like calculated that's like the fastest way to catch him
00:29:50
Speaker
Or maybe she didn't just, like, fuck with them. Just be like, hey, I'm gonna run out of force. I feel like she can still run with, like, the hydraulic system in her. She'll probably outrun a human, so it's like, this is more intimidation tactic.
00:30:02
Speaker
Because, no matter what, she has the face of, like, a cute doll. so and also And also has, like, superhuman strength, which, like, I don't, and I think they probably should have, thought about that as well when they were deciding Megan. Like, don't make her, you know, a Terminator.
00:30:17
Speaker
Yeah, I get, like, she doesn't feel pain, but giving the robot the ability to, like, like, have that much pounds of pressure applied to things? It's like, you're being around kids.
00:30:29
Speaker
Like, what? Yeah. What are you doing? Opening, like, card, like, are you acting like an emergency pair of Jaws of Life?
00:30:38
Speaker
Yeah, because she basically, like, like vice grip. but She's like just, like, know, when she's, like, strangling people, it's just, like, a vice grip on your throat. It's... So it's like, you don't need this kind of strength around kids.
00:30:49
Speaker
The reason why kids play pens are soft.
00:30:57
Speaker
Yeah. yeah the but I think the whole like Brandon sequence is by like of the best parts of this movie. Which is, if you remember the original trailers, like they show you that part like a lot. It's like the, it's like, um it reminds me of like Problem Child or like the good son.
00:31:16
Speaker
Yep. Where it's like the Macaulay Culkin is in the woods, he's all mischievous, but he doesn't really do anything to like anybody for a while. It's a lot of like, oh, I'm more sinister than you think. Haha, I'm innocent.
00:31:29
Speaker
Very classic. Very classic in the Megan film. Causing like an accident, quote unquote, that's actually a murder.
00:31:38
Speaker
So it's like the same thing where Megan... stumbles upon an accident that she secretly caused. But I feel bad for that guy who hit the kid.
00:31:51
Speaker
Oh yeah, that guy's traumatized. Yeah, it's like, And then Megan's just sort of like, oops.
00:31:59
Speaker
then And then Megan's somehow able to but maybe I guess like you know but she has a super powerful AI that they put no restrictions on. so But she's able to like destroy all the evidence on the cloud.
00:32:14
Speaker
like like All of her like visual data gets uploaded to the cloud. and then Or GPS data gets uploaded the cloud. She's just corrupted it all.
00:32:22
Speaker
Yeah, but you figure she might have to replace that data. But apparently you can't. Nope, it's just like, I deleted it. But then it's more suspicious that it's gone than it is like if they replaced it with just null footage.
00:32:35
Speaker
Yeah, just just do like, yeah, make loops, make like a loop of like footage. Like, yeah, I just, I just sat in this, like, ah like looped this, heard, just like sitting at the toy table for eight hours or whatever it was.
00:32:51
Speaker
I think destroying the footage is always more suspicious than just like putting boring footage up there. Yeah. Yeah.
00:33:01
Speaker
If anything, just Katie rambling about things she likes for like four hours. Doing dance moves. Yeah, rambling stories.
00:33:12
Speaker
just takes place in modern era. It would just be like boy bands and Korean pop songs that Katie's listening to and then the dogs sit there record. I think a more hilarious version of this is that Megan actually is a working normal robot, but then after like a teen has unfiltered access to unload her feelings, that's when Megan goes crazy.
00:33:33
Speaker
Yeah. it is it's it's It's weird that um it's funny like there's no accident or like malfunction that causes Megan to go like murderous. She just like alert like she's like decides do and this like because of her like learning and like her ah programming Because, like, you know, it's like you like stealth or something, where it's like lightning strikes the maybe her like chip gets damaged and that causes the malfunctions to start happening.
00:34:02
Speaker
But she's just like, man, I'm just going to start killing people. Time to murder? Okay, murder time. I have no restrictions, and I can i can learn at an exponential rate, so I'm just going to you know evolve.
00:34:16
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:22
Speaker
And then they they try they try to like turn they try to like turn her off, and then she like is like able to turn herself by God and not get turned off.
00:34:34
Speaker
Which is also like a great feature to have. where like You know how like a laptop sometimes won't turn off? to Sometimes you take out the battery to help kill it? um They don't do that to Megan, because for whatever reason, they just wielded everything into her.
00:34:48
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think they ever reveal... like What is Megan's power source? Because they showed like she has a the chip in her head, but does she have like a nuclear generator in her chest? or like where's like where Where is getting her energy? i think She sits on that like that like window sill, and like I think it's like a charging base in Kee's bedroom.
00:35:09
Speaker
But yeah, like you would take like yeah take out her like power chip or power like generator if you want to totally take her offline. This is a wrapper in bubble wrap.
00:35:22
Speaker
It's like, here you go. Megan's not on a commission. wrapped her duct tape bubble wrap. This is her off mode. Well, it's it's, it's, you that, you that move, like you, like, I guess touch behind her ear and she turns off. That's like the manual override.
00:35:40
Speaker
Which I do like, I do like the, um, like, Gemma, like, does the trick with, like, the pen of, like, hey, look hey, Megan, look at this pen, and, like, her powers are off, but then she tries it later, and, like, Megan, like, learned, and, looks like, not this time, bitch, like, I'm not doing that this time.
00:35:55
Speaker
Yeah, it's, like, the classic Chucky thing, where there's, like, certain things that, like, the doll's susceptible to, but then it learns that, like, oh, I'm aware, I'm alive, and I am mad.
00:36:16
Speaker
And then there's a... So everything's kind everything' everything's kind of building to this big reveal where Funky is going to reveal Megan in this like global global internet ah press conference.
00:36:29
Speaker
Which they spent a lot of marketing and digital banners for. they do They do kind of like, um they put up a bunch of like standees around like toy stores and stuff. It kind reminds me of Gabbo from Simpsons, where it's like, Gabbo! Gabbo! It's like, Megan!
00:36:45
Speaker
Megan! Megan! Who's Megan? What's Megan?
00:36:50
Speaker
You want Megan. But so it's crazy that reveal the price to the news, like because like the newscaster before the press conference is like, what kind of toy costs $10,000? We'll find out tonight.
00:37:02
Speaker
Which, yeah, $10,000. if ah if If everything worked out fine Megan was was like like working like perfectly well, they would be so you buy one for $10,000.
00:37:14
Speaker
Well, you think about it. You buy this for like an 8-year-old, and that's guaranteed like a long time of play and stuff. So $1,000 a year? Maybe. you think how much toys cost for a kid? You buy them...
00:37:28
Speaker
three times a year for, like, annual things, it sort of does pay off. and I mean, it's as much as, like, a timeshare property. well what what's gonna what's What happens, though, when, like, you know, the kid... The new model.
00:37:42
Speaker
or or like they Or, like, the kid like you know the kid turns, like, like, well, bye megan I'm leaving now. i don't know if like you can upgrade Megan into then just be like a household maid, where it's like, alright, well, now we're just going to get you a better chastity, and now that you're more humanized, we need you to do like our food shopping.
00:38:01
Speaker
Or it's like you're our new like, the parents are just like, well, you're our new child, Megan. Our perpetual nine-year-old. So, there is like, yo know nine year old so there is like a story that happened where Sony made these robotic like animals that like older people like bonded with.
00:38:24
Speaker
And um like, because they're robots and because they do have like the sound and actions, they prefer that because like you don't have the heartbreak of like what eventually happens to a real animal.
00:38:38
Speaker
And then, um yeah, they stopped making it, but then, the parts got harder and then it's like, what do you do? And I think like a lot of people like help by like making like adaptable parts, but

Tech and Human Connection

00:38:51
Speaker
that's the thing. It's like, Oh, it's really like, ah ah it it sucks, but like there is a need to have like devices like this, but it should be labeled like a device, not more like, Oh, this will replace like love.
00:39:06
Speaker
Like we're getting into that territory now in humanity. Yeah. Hmm. mean, know it's like Black Mirrors and like other movies that are like, yeah, upload upload your dead loved one's like consciousness into ah robot body or something. Well, not even that. The one where it's like you upload like your your loved one's image and then it comes to life as an AI model and stuff.
00:39:28
Speaker
So like, yup what and then the image like talks back. It's so dark because like the The human brain is not designed like that, where you can just be like, oh, forever.
00:39:39
Speaker
Like, you live forever now. Like, what?
00:39:45
Speaker
So, yeah, that's... The movie doesn't want to think about that. I'm like, honestly, in a horror movie, super goddamn bad. In a ridiculous, campy, like, horror comedy? Yeah. You can't talk about morality and then just sort of, like, the like psychological need for, like, substitution, ah human interaction. Yeah.
00:40:04
Speaker
There are other movies that do it, and it's crazy because they don't get it right either, but like Megan at least knows what it wants to do. um But yeah, $10,000 for this toy.
00:40:17
Speaker
That parent's like, you have to buy that toy for that baby. And then he's like, well, you will get my money's worth out of this Megan doll. i guess I guess he would also... like if if all the Megans, you know, did, like the like, the parenting help that, like, Megan does for Katie, guess that's also, like, an investment, like, we basically we're buying, like, a third parent as well to help us, like, a baby, like, ah like or like, a, like, a, like, it was, like, a, an all-pair whatever, like, a, like, this, live-in person that, like, helps raise our child.
00:40:49
Speaker
Well, because it's, like, oh, like, if they said, oh, Megan also has, like, parental control, so, like, you can put her on sentry mode and, like, she will defend the house from, like, intruders. And they'll, oh, you don't need a babysitter because Megan's there and it's like, she's bulletproof?
00:41:04
Speaker
Megan will instantly call 911 if something happens.
00:41:08
Speaker
Megan will not call a boyfriend to eat your food in your refrigerator.
00:41:13
Speaker
I've never had that classic, like, give a babysitter and the babysitter and invites her friends over, like, uses your phone line. Never had that problem.
00:41:22
Speaker
I wonder if we'll ever get in, like, um you know, if we get, like, a Megan 3... whatever that's whatever they're going to call that one. Like if they, if they come up with like a, you like ah a male equivalent, like a male model version of Megan.
00:41:37
Speaker
yeah Cause I feel like this company would like that, that would be like the their director would go, you know, like, you like my buddy and then they had a kid sister. It'd be like Megan. And then like whatever they did, like the male equivalent of, and then they would do, us they would do the thing where if you buy both of them, they they interact with each other.
00:41:55
Speaker
then Then it's like these two siblings against your kid. Yeah. i think I don't know if you want that. i don't know if you want to buy like two... What happens if you buy two Megans?
00:42:09
Speaker
Oh, man. but yeah
00:42:12
Speaker
deb You're like... but One, you're like and insanely it's sadly wealthy. And yeah, two, like what what do yeah what do what what do you need two for One to watch the other one and now you build your own like...
00:42:24
Speaker
social class where like okay you're the you're the the like like the manager Megan and you're you're the employee Megan
00:42:39
Speaker
and I'm the mom so I'm the boss like you made your own workforce team or okay Okay, and this is another tangent, but it'd be funny. Someone invests into like a daycare of Megans, where it's like they drop in 60 grand by six Megans, and it's like, well, give us your kids. We have six Megans, and they'll watch your kid.
00:43:00
Speaker
Yes. but it It becomes like the iRobot robots, where people are just buying Megans. but People who who don't even have kids who are buying Megans as like the new like ah like household assistants.
00:43:12
Speaker
I bet you that's what would happen in real life. Yeah. they made it 10 okay really for a ten thousand dollar robot that's actually not bad for like a full like a fully sentient like like a so like household assistant like like like that like like can like do all your like household chores and like probably like go to the store for you and buy things yeah like cook for you and then like tell you the weather you know like people drop three grand on a smart watch that like calibrates when you sleep you know like I can't imagine for seven more grand that I don't think you can't. Unless you pay for premium service where it's like a monthly subscription to get like Megan Plus.
00:43:52
Speaker
Like, you know what I mean Like, yeah. That'd be a Black Mirror. Yeah. But like, I could see that where it's like, don't you want the language back of Megan? If not, it's just basic English and Spanish.
00:44:04
Speaker
Well, or I mean, have you seen, have you seen Companion yet? I haven't yet. Cause like that, I feel like that's like kind of what we're like, we're getting into. Okay, so like the idea... Or that Megan Fox movie, whatever that one was. can't remember that was called. Megan Fox one is like, I didn't want to get into that because that's a dark hole of like story pit rants, but like it falls in my thing of like people trying to have sex with the robot and the robot is like, I will kill you if I can't have you.
00:44:30
Speaker
Which does start happening here. Megan just like, if I can't be with you, like I will kill everyone.
00:44:38
Speaker
Everyone's a threat to Katie now. Yeah, even Katie. But yeah, you want to get about the killing spree? um yeah so so it Yeah, so the big the big presentation, there's but then Gemma's like, Megan's malfunctioning or

Megan's Press Conference Chaos

00:44:57
Speaker
something's wrong with her. like and She killed a bunch of people or did something horrible.
00:45:01
Speaker
We got shut her down. and But then she breaks free and burns on the lab, which... you you it's like i feel like they kind of set up that the but the assistants get killed but then spoilers we find out like oh they're fine yeah i thought at least one of them would be eliminated but just totally fine just these people are also like tough considering considering like like megan kills a bunch of like two other people that are only like intentionally related to
00:45:32
Speaker
um like Katie and but Gemma, like these two, like these two could actually like do something like potentially stop her. Like they could like, if they could figure out her programming or do something to her, like they could like stop her.
00:45:43
Speaker
So you think that she'd like, well, these are, these two are like major threats. I got to kill them. yeah these got These people got to go. But she kind of just like distracts them and then goes after, you know, right. Chang, which we get, that's where we get the iconic, you Megan dance, which became like the huge meme and everything.
00:46:04
Speaker
Where she's like dancing in the hallway and flipping and then rips off the blade of a paper cutter and uses that as like a sword. Which, why is that in the hallway? Just a random paper cutter. don't think there's like a printer in there. It's just like, yeah, here's the paper cutting station. We just cut paper here.
00:46:22
Speaker
Which i does happen in offices, but I feel like for a high tech company, who is doing their own stationery? Yeah. Or the or the you think they'd be like trying to like go paperless. just like we don't We don't print anything. we like everything Everything's all digital on the cloud. like Just said email me it.
00:46:42
Speaker
but yeah she But yeah, she rips off the the paper cutter blade. In the underrated version, you see her stabber the whole thing, like where Ryan Chang gets stabbed to the chest, and like blood splatters everywhere.
00:46:56
Speaker
And then Megan's come up with this like elaborate plan where she's going to frame ah Ryan Chang's assistant, Kurt. Because he's been like... They said earlier that he's like stealing company documents and either selling them or just like keeping them. he's He's just doing it because he can. he can He's just like, i get the thrill of stealing stuff from the company.
00:47:18
Speaker
But make it make it look like he... ah Ryan Chang found out that Kurt killed him and then killed himself.
00:47:26
Speaker
Which I guess i guess make Megan probably download every single like true crime podcast and TV show. Like, how do cover up this murderer? What's a believable crime?
00:47:40
Speaker
And I guess I guess also like hacked the entire like funky network and database and just like knows everything about the company.
00:47:48
Speaker
Yeah, it's supposed to be like, she has control. She's definitely like thought this through through her AI logic. And this is something that she can possibly get away with.
00:48:00
Speaker
i feel like that I feel like they don't use her like control over other machines or like electronics that much. Because they show that she can do that, but she doesn't really use that lot.
00:48:11
Speaker
a lot
00:48:14
Speaker
It's probably like she walks past like ah like a power generator and turns it like or the alarms and like turns them back to like green like normal.
00:48:25
Speaker
but but like Maybe that's just like the limit. Or maybe they thought it too close to the Child's Play reboot. like We can't have her like controlling like other machines. And they're just like, okay, we don't want recreate that because that wasn't a big seller.
00:48:38
Speaker
she doesn't like A little bit expensive to believe where she's controlling like you know not smart devices.
00:48:46
Speaker
She does it all herself. She's a very hands-on person. She's an independent killer robot. Yeah.
00:48:56
Speaker
but yeah But then she like she steals the sports car. I don't know how she's driving the sports car unless it's like a like a Tesla or something where it has like auto drive.

Gemma vs. Megan Final Showdown

00:49:06
Speaker
But then pretend she gets she gets back to Gemma's house, and then we get, like, the big, like, final final fight between her and Megan. Which, I love their, like, kitchen fight, where they're trying to, like, hide it from Katie.
00:49:22
Speaker
We're just like, oh, it's fine. where's we're we're not We're not fighting. We're we're just we're talking. Just let your, like, guardian aunt and your fake, like, fake Fake friend mom.
00:49:35
Speaker
your Your friend mom.
00:49:39
Speaker
And, like, clearly it's the, like, they're throwing each other on a table and you hear, like, these, like, thumping and, like, like crashing into the table like Like, oh, no, it's like, Meg just on the table. i opened her, like, we're opening her up trying to, like, fix her. Well, guess, like, if they found out she was fighting, like, she'll disown both of them.
00:49:57
Speaker
Maybe. becomes, like like, a weird comedy for that, know? Yeah, we also also get like, like Megan maybe before like Gemma like discovers Megan in her house, like Megan's playing like toy soldiers on the piano.
00:50:11
Speaker
And they have like their whole conversation about like Megan is like, yeah, you put her like whole thing about the AI, like you put this AI that you didn't understand in me and like, and then I killed a bunch of people. Like, what do you think?
00:50:23
Speaker
What do you think? Yeah.
00:50:28
Speaker
Which is um pretty cruel, because it's like, you're yelling at your creator. It's like a very Frankenstein moment of, you played God, and it's like, you must repent for basically doing this without, like, the thought, or, like, the consequences of your actions.
00:50:47
Speaker
Well, Megan reveals her ultimate goal is that she wants to become basically, like, the main parrot, and then, like, she'll allow, like, Gemma stay at the house and, like, but, like, Megan's in control now.
00:51:02
Speaker
You're under Megan's law. Yes, Megan's law!
00:51:07
Speaker
Which, um... Which, I mean, again, like, you could just say yes and then just fight another day, but, like, Gemma's like, no, this is it. Like, we gotta sort this out.
00:51:19
Speaker
Right now.
00:51:23
Speaker
Yeah, and then it's its it spills into, like, the, um, the yeah like like the like the workshop and although I think I think um i i forget what damage like it damages ke Megan or something like like oh she throws like the water like the water in her face and then someone starts short circuiting Megan's like sensors a little bit because then she starts like really doing those like really like choppy movements down the hall
00:51:59
Speaker
But it but it <unk> it's kind of only temporary because it's just for that one scene and they're fighting in the garage. Megan's back to full power again. like but like Everything's fine. and Yeah.
00:52:11
Speaker
and just like It's just like a visual glitch. Like a minor short circuit.
00:52:18
Speaker
But it shows you if you just drop Megan in like the ocean she's not going last. Yeah. yeah see water Water is her weakness. Just throw a bunch of water at her.
00:52:31
Speaker
yeah they have They have a big fight. like like Gemma pulls out some sort of like I think it's like a bush trimmer or something. The yarn chops that Megan, but then she has her military-grade steel endoskeleton, so it do much.
00:52:48
Speaker
It scars her face up a little bit. yeah They went too fancy on a toy. They basically were building a grunt soldier.
00:53:02
Speaker
Which, I mean, that seems like the plot of Megan, too. is that that Someone stole Megan's tech and that made like an assassin soldier with it.
00:53:14
Speaker
Which, i mean I mean, I feel like you could like yeah you could like send like you could make a bunch of Megans and just send them out. like It's like, if it's not for us playing for Raptors, drop a bunch of Megans in a hostile country just have them kill everybody.
00:53:29
Speaker
Just tell the Megan dolls that if they do good, they get to raise like a kid. Pair them all with Katie and say like, yeah, the entire this entire country wants to what's to hurt Katie. go Go kill everybody. Yeah, then Katie will be safe.
00:53:44
Speaker
So like, did you play Bioshock? Yeah. So it's like the same thing with like Big Daddies where like they need a pair with like a little sister to be better because then it gives them like motivation and also like their aggression for protection is, like, and sealed, and then it's like, you bond with this, and now, like, you're closer, and you're way more, like... you You've got, like, a better sense of your, like, self.
00:54:09
Speaker
think that's what KD does, like, that that psychology of it. But, like... What do you think would happen if it's like, oh, like, Gemma has to be alive. You can't just kill Gemma and be like, well, we're family, right? Like, you're cool with this.
00:54:25
Speaker
Well, that's, it's it's um like, one of the best, like... during that fight, like, um, like, I think Megan, like, like, I think John says, like, what you gonna do? Kill me? Like, like, are you gonna after that? And like, and Megan's like, well, I can take this pen, like, uh, stab me in like the cerebral cortex and leave me like paralyzed. And then you'll find how helpful I am.
00:54:45
Speaker
i mean, she said it's it's clever. Yeah. Basically turned Gem into like a vegetable i'd be like, well, she's paralyzed now. kaie like I have to run everything now.
00:54:58
Speaker
but yeah know ka Katie finally turns on Megan. um And then they... The setup from way in the beginning of the movie with Bruce. like Bruce comes back. And Katie's using like the power gloves to beat up Megan. Rips her in half.
00:55:14
Speaker
you know I think it would have been a little bit different movie. Bruce also had like a Megan AI type. But he's like a very kind, gentle, slower model. yeah like he's um Yeah, more like... He can only talk in simple phrases.
00:55:27
Speaker
Yeah, like, Bruce, Bruce love! Bruce do good! And that then it's like, oh, Bruce also has, like, an an emotional connection with KD, so, like, now that KD's in danger, like, Bruce goes into, like, protect mode, but it takes, like, it took, like, a whole while to hold up. Like, however many weeks and it's been.
00:55:45
Speaker
Yep.
00:55:52
Speaker
Bruce protect KD!
00:55:56
Speaker
i You stay, I go.
00:56:02
Speaker
But it's crazy, like, even ripped apart, like, Megan is... Like, that's, like, the like the full, like, Terminator thing happening. about were Like, she's ripped half, but she still is able to, like, try to, like, kill them. Yeah. Well, mean, you don't need, like, organs.
00:56:14
Speaker
It's not, like, an organic thing. i guess I guess it's just, like, yeah, like, we were talking about earlier, like, where's her power? Because i guess, like, her power's not like, the middle of her body. It's somewhere else.
00:56:26
Speaker
It's like in her head.
00:56:32
Speaker
Well, they do, they do, they that's how they, they rip over her head, they totally remove her, like her, like face and they get into like her skull and they stab the, the prostagation ship.
00:56:44
Speaker
And they're like, well, all right, me Megan's dead now.
00:56:49
Speaker
But then all the little stinger is that the which I guess Gemma invented, is that just like a thing, like like Eloise or whatever, like the ah um AI assistant?
00:57:02
Speaker
Is that something Gemma made too? Or is that just like something, that could is that like the like like a Siri or like the Google Home of like this universe? I think that's what it is. like It found a way to partially put some of its personality in another device.
00:57:17
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
00:57:19
Speaker
Because I think in in the trailer for Megan 2, Megan's like talking from that like tech camera body.

Megan's Independence and Climax

00:57:25
Speaker
It's like, I haven't trapped in this stupid body.
00:57:31
Speaker
You still haven't seen...
00:57:36
Speaker
What's that dumb AI movie? The one with Jon Cho in it? Oh! Yeah, like, ah Afraid? Yeah. You haven't seen that yet, have you? No. Give that one a shot.
00:57:47
Speaker
It starts... With like the Megan beginning, but then it goes off the rails. And then it's like... If Megan went in a different direction, like it it would follow this pattern. Because I don't know another one where like the AI is just sort of like, oh, I did wrong.
00:58:03
Speaker
Like it's always like, oh no, I know better. I always known better than you. Because Megan kind of has that attitude where it's like, no, I'm like superior in every way besides like being a human.
00:58:15
Speaker
I have, yeah, I have all i have all human knowledge.
00:58:22
Speaker
Which, yeah, they're always... AIs, they're always... it's so Yeah, it's... They get all human knowledge, and it's like... They they either have to It's like AI robot that we have to protect humans from themselves, or we have to kill humans because they're destroying the planet.
00:58:35
Speaker
Yep. Never goes like, oh, um let me help you, like, make better food for you or something.
00:58:45
Speaker
Let me design better clothes for humans. Yeah. But yeah, I guess Megan Topano, Megan's had become like the... I don't know if not like a full hero, but an anti-hero, I guess, because now there's an even more evil robot running around.
00:59:05
Speaker
they i mean they're They're going like full Terminator 2. The in the first movie, now it's like now she's not here to protect us, or at least protect Katie. That's like...
00:59:18
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I could see, like, if Katie's like, now we could be friends, but from a, like, distance.
00:59:25
Speaker
Like a weekend friend. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, Megan 2.0, like, don't have to see it yet um as I recorded this, but it I mean, it looks like nuts. I mean, it looks like all the, like, campy, like, humor of the first movie, they're just, like, ramping that up even higher, and then, like, yeah, just, like, making it, like, a more of, like, an action movie than a horror movie.
00:59:50
Speaker
like Yeah, just like like totally totally's going like full Terminator 2 or like any sort of like other, like we're the villain, not the hero. Yeah, the heel turn.
01:00:01
Speaker
but yeah Although i'm sure I'm sure there's probably going to be some sort of like twist where Megan's like, well, yeah like i stopped I stopped the other the other like robot, but now and now I'm back to like my evil schemes. and Back to my original like idea.
01:00:17
Speaker
You helped me with get this new, even more advanced body. Now I'm going to kill the everyone.
01:00:26
Speaker
i'm sure I'm sure if im sure i'm sure if's like Megan hit, you make a third movie. 3 Megan? 3 Megan, 3 Furious. 3 Megan, 3 Furious.
01:00:37
Speaker
movie
01:00:41
Speaker
megan three be in three three bigga three furious Three Megan, three robots? Yeah. um but might my me My pitch is that, yeah, there's like a, there's like, like Megan gets like her, if there's a third one, like Megan gets like her, like, they call like Tiffany in the Chucky movies.
01:01:01
Speaker
There's like, it's like, yeah, like the male, the male Chucky, Megan shows up. like, and either it's like, they're like a couple or like, it's like a rival to her. I think a rival.
01:01:12
Speaker
I think it'd be like interesting to have a rival. And then,
01:01:16
Speaker
go through the same motions where, like, they don't like each other initially, but then maybe through the course of, like, killings, they get close.
01:01:25
Speaker
It's like, you don't know, you don't know it's a like, an AI, a robot, and it's like Katie, like, because Katie's gonna be, like, like a teenager by the time of that movie comes out, if there's a third one, and then it's, like, her boyfriend, but then it turns out to be a robot.
01:01:40
Speaker
And then Megan's jealous of the boyfriend, but then it's yep oh, you're a robot? Well, I'm a robot. Like, whoa... See, we're just... Is that how easy is now to make a Mega movie? Yep. but But, yeah, we'll we'll watch Mega 2.0 first and then see if there's any sort of, like, teases about what the future holds.
01:01:59
Speaker
But, yeah, the first one still is super fun.

Megan's Horror Icon Status

01:02:02
Speaker
um definitely Definitely if you're a fan like, Child's Play and so and AI but like yeah movies, it's, like, in ah it's... like, a fun watch.
01:02:13
Speaker
And I think... And the Mega definitely has become... um you know, kind of like a horror icon. Like, um along with, like yo someone's like like are like ah you know, Terrifier and, i guess it's going back a little bit, like Sam for Trick or Treat.
01:02:31
Speaker
It's for, like, modern new horror icons. Yeah. I mean, you need one. you need once You need, like, a new boogie monster once in a while. Not only to sell, like, Halloween stuff, but sort of, like, the root for or just, like, a creative force that isn't just, like,
01:02:47
Speaker
Jason and Freddy. Like, I like that now there's way more of those legends now. But, I mean, she's all over Halloween Horror Nights and, yeah, like costumes. Halloween costumes for Megan Forever.
01:02:59
Speaker
hallowing costumes for megan forever
01:03:06
