Celebrating Episode 150 & Penguin Finale

00:01:25
Speaker
What's poppin? What's going on? What's going on? Not much. We are at a one min monumental episode 150 today. Gonna start off talking about what we watched this week. I got a big finale yesterday last Sunday. The Penguin episode eight ended.
00:01:45
Speaker
first season, maybe, we'll talk about that in a minute. Before the episode aired, Matt Reeve went on social media and thanked the audience for watching the series so far and um had a little note, I think I may have had it on here, let me see, I did, yeah.
00:02:01
Speaker
um Just a note saying he's grateful for all the fans who've been watching. um Stay tuned because it's going to go right into the Batman Part 2. We'll get into that in a minute. But before the episode aired, they had a first look on a lot of new Max shows coming

Oz's Rise and Gotham's Underworld

00:02:17
Speaker
out. And we got the first look at Rick Flag Senior in Peacemaker Season 2 coming out sometime next year.
00:02:25
Speaker
I don't believe they released the time of year, but sometime in 2020 August sneaker August. Yeah, that's right. I remember I forgot forgot about that. Yeah um Right after Superman it is coming out. Um So we'll talk about the episode a little bit. Oz's childhood secret is revealed. His mom knew about it all along that he killed his brothers. um And it creates this big, huge whirlwind where his mom ends up collapsing after she confronts him. um She is being held by Sophia at this point in the show. And she collapses. And you find out later on in the episode that she has she goes into a coma, kind of. We'll get into that in a minute.
00:03:06
Speaker
um Billy Walsh from entourage returns in this episode as a councilman for Gotham i forgot like episode six i did twenty yeah four um Oz gets the best of Sophia um And ends up taking his rightful place as the kingpin of Gotham in an up in a in where you think that he's going to shoot Sophia in the back of the head She kind of goes blank like she's been mind-controlled or mind-fucked with and all of a sudden there's police surrounding her and she gets arrested and sent to Arkham. um His mom is now a vegetable. Her eyes are wide open. She's in bed. She just had no movement. The only thing the only thing that happened at the end of the episode is you saw tears running down her eyes when she's looking over Gotham.

Penguin Series: Setting Up Batman 2?

00:03:53
Speaker
um in a shocking turn of events because we both love Vic but we knew it was going to happen because Oz is a villain through and through and in order for him to truly become the villain that we know there had to be a sacrifice and Vic was that sacrifice he chokes him out and kills him and We knew it was gonna happen, but we were hoping not because we loved Vic. He's a great character. The only other show I've seen that kid in was Runaways. I don't know if you ever saw Runaways. It was a really good show. I knew it was gonna happen. I've never seen it though.

True Detective Season 1 Review

00:04:26
Speaker
Yeah, yeah very good. um Also, Sofia's in Arkham.
00:04:30
Speaker
And Julian Rush, Dr. Julian Rush is there, and he gives her a note in her cell from Selena Kyle, Catwoman, from the first movie. um And if you remember the first movie, Selena Kyle is a Falcone. She's the daughter of fal of Carmine, means that she is a sister to Sophia.
00:04:54
Speaker
not sure what the note says

Moonwalker: Michael Jackson's Impact

00:04:56
Speaker
i'm not sure when we'll actually see that maybe in the movie right yep um but the show ends pretty much how you said it was going to end kevin except for the fact we didn't see batman no however we saw the signal it panned out to gotham in the whole city wide after after you see the penguin dancing with his with his prostitute girlfriend whore whatever you want to say dressed up as his mother weird You see it pan out to Gotham very normal. It's very normative, right? Um, so big question that this show leaves you with satisfying ending set satisfying season does this set up the Batman 2 or Does it set up a season 2 and that's been the question all week and there's been answers throughout from retin that Reeves to
00:05:45
Speaker
to producers of the show. Everybody's been talking about it. um Colin Farrell has come out and said he has five or six scenes in the Batman 2, reveals that he's attached to star in a third film as well. He signed on for a third film. um I could see that being the culmination of everything with Colin Farrell. He does such an amazing job. It's

Aubrey Plaza's Time Travel Adventure

00:06:05
Speaker
amazing to see Colin Farrell, the actor that he is, turn into this character. It's just astounding.
00:06:12
Speaker
Um, the episode did 2.1 million viewers across all platforms last weekend. did big numbers for them, plus it just adds up with streaming every single week. um And the ending sets the stage for the Batman 2 and maybe Season 2. Entertainment Weekly kind of did an article talking to people behind the scenes, Matt Reeves being one of them, um and mostly saying that we're kind of flickering ah fixing flicking you at the end of the story oh at the end to say the story's not over, Reeves says.
00:06:44
Speaker
ah The idea that Oz and these characters could be on a collision course at some point with Batman, that's of course out there. So we wanted to leave you with that sense of that without overshadowing that this is really the completion of the story. yeah right we didn't know this We knew this wasn't going to be the completion, it was kind of a bump in the road to get to the Batman 2. Also talking about conversations that are being had because there's so much success with this show and everybody's talking about
00:07:13
Speaker
The Penguin in and being such great characters. The

Revisiting Gladiator: Sequel Speculation

00:07:19
Speaker
members are up there with The Last of Us and House of Dragon as far as ratings are concerned. So HBO and Max are in talks behind the scenes and conversations are are being held with Matt Reeves. um I wanted to post a couple of pictures that came out this week.
00:07:35
Speaker
maybe spoilers maybe not well there's number one bat signal one to say that this picture right here is the courtroom that oz goes in in the episode talking to billy waltz from entourage the curtains are hung in a weird number one they're in a court but they're hung in a weird way to make them look like owls do you think there's any do you think there's anything to this I think a lot of what we're gonna get into here in a second is a lot of just maybe easter eggs. Yes. I think so too. Especially like the scarecrow stuff. um And that one we're gonna get into right now. I think they could do the quarter bowels. I just don't know if they will. It could just be easter egg stuff. But yeah. In the amazing episode six, we see this in the background. Somebody caught it today a alllea of all times, a week almost a week later.
00:08:28
Speaker
of

Celtic Pride and Sports Fandom

00:08:29
Speaker
the glove and the mask of the scarecrow sitting on a desk. I'm not sure what scene this is. Are they in Julian Rush's office? i don't Yes, this is Julian Rush's office. yeah Okay, so that makes perfect sense then because we've been saying it all along and maybe he's playing the scarecrow, especially now that he's back in Arkham. He's got some sort of a deal with the penguins that sent him back to Arkham because he wasn't working there. And then when Sophia went back, he's there now taking care of her.
00:08:54
Speaker
um But as you can see plain as plain as day and you can zoom right in they are the glove and the mask from scarecrow these are these are meticulously placed there as Easter eggs so I hope so. He's a great actor. He's great on the show and I would love to see a maniacal scarecrow like this. That'd be really cool. um But yeah, like I mentioned last week, it's it's it's very hard to be the Batman. um Much of the city is in desperation, so police can't get everywhere. There's

SNL Documentary Insights

00:09:27
Speaker
crime everywhere. It's a very, very dangerous time. Batman's out there trying to grapple with the aftermath of everything that happened.
00:09:34
Speaker
Which to some degree he blames himself for that's from Matt Reeves talking about the Batman 2 so I'm looking forward to the Batman 2 wasn't a huge fan of the Batman 1 the show by far Eclipse the movie for me, and I know you're you're a huge fan of the movie I know a lot of people are but for me I just the way that this is a character study for two main characters that just did one wonderful fantastic job depicting these two characters and I I can't wait to see what happens with ah Colin Farrell's penguin and see where this character goes in his story. And if there is going to be a seat another series or another season between Batman 2 and 3, I wouldn't mind seeing a penguin season 2, but I wouldn't mind seeing another character being brought in as well. so um

Superman & Lois: Character Dynamics

00:10:18
Speaker
Shrinking, episode 6.
00:10:21
Speaker
um Not much to really say other than the daughter. Nope. um The daughter of Jason Siegel's character did end up having a one-on-one conversation with the man that killed her mother and she forgave him. That was awesome. Yeah. That was a good scene. Touching scene. um And we know this is all going to a boiling point with when he's going to actually have to talk to Jason Siegel in front and they're going to have a confrontation of some kind.
00:10:48
Speaker
But what we see on that. um Were you able to watch Cobra Kai and watch any of it? I haven't

Christopher Reeve's Legacy Documentary

00:10:54
Speaker
got it to you yet. No, I'm okay. That's cool. Um where i So last week you told me True Detective season one is one of the best seasons of television you ever watched So what did I do last week Kevin? You watched it. I watched the whole entire season of True Detective season and one. It's a good binge cuz yeah, so it was very fucking good matthew but what about the the park What about the seasons after this before we get into this season itself are they a good have you seen season two through four or whatever I
00:11:24
Speaker
season

D23 Brazil: Disney & Marvel Reveals

00:11:47
Speaker
but yeah the season was that was kind of like this one too um or it wasn't through decades but it was through the 90s and 2000s up until current it was like time 10 or 15 years behind yeah between yeah yeah i thought it was really cool starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson um this was on hbl a decade ago i guess but i'm just getting to it because you recommended it but um very good eight eight episodes i believe um long-form telling storytelling about a or murder murder that happened somewhere out in the out in the midwest somewhere yeah and they have to try to solve it and they think they solve

MCU's Future: Blade and X-Men

00:12:22
Speaker
it but they didn't really solve it and they come to find out there's another killer i don't want to get all the spoilers but basically this is the story and Matthew McConaughey's character is kind of a kind of a reckless um
00:12:36
Speaker
Number push our alcoholic or alcoholic um And he hasn't the way that the way the show is depicted it shows him with a long hair and I know people have probably seen the trailers for this where you have the long beard the long hair that set in the current time Something has happened to his character since the 90s and you find out through the show what's happened and and everything I thought it was done very well. um I don't know who does the show I don't know where this show is why it was why it was created who created or anything, but I thought it was really good. I I'm kind of intrigued to the watch the second third and fourth, but I know the fourth one is getting a lot of um a lot of acclaim especially during the ward season this past fall, but um, Did you who's gonna ask you? Oh, was there a connection to season four to season one? I heard that too. Yes.

True Detective: Narrative Structure

00:13:25
Speaker
Oh, there's light. It wasn't like yeah, okay It was a connection
00:13:29
Speaker
what What was it you might as well tell me maybe I'll maybe I'll pick my interest I can't everyone was i want you to welcome aga the fourth season goes into like supernatural stuff that kind of weird but i think reference what happens in season one in season four. I think it's just something like that Okay, that's cool. Um, so this week. I also watched another movie came out in 1988 I don't know if you ever he must have seen that because there's everywhere I watch ja moonallker um yeah i bought this movie it's only available digitally on amazon prime you can buy it on there not on itunes not streaming anywhere i don't think
00:14:07
Speaker
you have to buy it on night on um your amazon prime so i did probably five six years ago um This movie came out in 1988 starring Michael Jackson. um starts does rear yeah Starts off as a career retrospective and then it showcases the ad the Bad Album. It came out right after Bad. um and It's a collection of short films including the iconic music video for Smooth Criminal, ah videos for Leave Me Alone and Speed Demon, and a whole bunch of other songs. He does a rendition of Come Together by the Beatles at the end.
00:14:39
Speaker
um It

Moonwalker: Controversies & Style

00:14:41
Speaker
basically tackles his fandom, his controversies, the myths surrounding him. At one point he dances with the skeletons of the Elephant Man because there was rumors that he bought the bones of the Elephant Man. I'm actually thinking he may have. and Bubbles was in this too, his ah his chimpanzees. Every news article that was ever about him was kind of tongue in cheek talked about. um Humorous at times, kind of.
00:15:05
Speaker
um But it was dark as fuck in a lot of scenes too. Drugs, child abduction, no more futuristic gun shoots set shootouts. it's ah It's a fucking fever dream, is exactly what I wrote in the notes. Also, as you see, there's giant cartoonish characters, weird stop motion animation. um In the very bottom left corner, I don't know if you can see it because it's really small, but there's a there's a little claymation of the noid.
00:15:32
Speaker
which is the Domino's Pizza mascot way back in the 80s and 90s. He had a little quick cameo in the video too. A lot of young kid actors, of course, Michael Jackson being a kid

Aubrey Plaza's Unique Narrative

00:15:45
Speaker
himself at heart. The lead kid being one of the kids from the Mighty Ducks and a lot of them were Michael Jackson's nephews.
00:15:53
Speaker
um Also Sean Lennon, the the son of John Lennon was in this, he was one of the kids. um And Joe Pesci starred in this as well as the big bad guy, um big Mr. Big. um Cameos from Clancy Brown, Nikki Cox was in the Bad ah Parody, the little kid's bad video of parody. um Very weird, very fever dreamish. Lots of great music. I love of course. I mean the iconic thing from this is Smooth Criminal and that was the I was obsessed with that when I was a kid still am to this day I love that video love a song. It's one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs There was a video game on the Genesis a sky side scroller um Came out in like 92. I believe 90. I can't remember but it's exclusively for the Sega Genesis um and
00:16:42
Speaker
I believe the Smooth Criminal song is the whole entire soundtrack of that game. um the The movie is okay. It's a lot of career career stuff surrounding Michael at the time. He's going through all the weird changes with his with his look, of course, because just ten years before that he was a black guy. Then he's bleached his skin and he did a dun bunch of facelifts and nose jobs. so He didn't look the same he did a decade before. but um So he's going through a lot of scrutiny through that and through the news media and everything else and crazy time but crazy movie um Very very weird. I believe it made a made it made a penny for for for him and for the studio that made it but um I did want to bring that up because I did watch that the other thing that I watched came out I believe this week on Prime and
00:17:34
Speaker
My old ass. I've watched three movies this week we're gonna get into soon. This is the first one that probably are my favorite movies of the year. I love time travel fuckery and this dives right into it. Starring Aubrey Plaza, um after a teen who's a girl on the right, um has a mushroom shrimp in the woods on her 18th birthday, Aubrey Plaza stars as her older self. Sent from the future, sent back to give her younger self advice to make her life better in a troubled future world. that she is that she's living in
00:18:06
Speaker
um the way this movie depicts it there's some parts of it i i i wish that they dived into a little bit deeper i wish they dived into aubrey plowster's future a little bit more and see where her future really was um but overall four and a half out of five for me this movie was fantastic um There's a really cool scene at the end where everything kind of comes together. You find out why she's sent back to the future, or will'll be sent back to the past to talk to herself. Is it a comedy? Very cool. very Yeah, kind of mixed with comedy, drama, coming of age story, for sure. Okay. um And yeah, very, very good. It's on Amazon Prime right now, so you can watch it for free if you have Prime. um This movie reminded me of another movie. I think I brought it up before. I'm going to bring it up again.
00:18:51
Speaker
Safety not guaranteed also starring Aubrey Plaza, but this movie I haven't seen it in a while. I'm gonna watch this soon, but um Stars Aubrey Plaza Jake Johnston was a new girl. Dopinder who was in yeah Deadpool movies is in there and Mark Duplass who is in who's in the league? Yeah, he and he has a star in this um and basically the premise of it is this guy Mark Duplass puts an ad in the paper and saying that that he wants somebody to help him travel back in time safety is not guaranteed he's kind of seen on the poster there i can't read it from here but um but yeah aubrey plaza and jake johnson answered the ad and tried to figure out what's going on with this guy and there's really cool twists at the end um that kind of sets everything up in a weird sci-fi kind of way but
00:19:40
Speaker
um very cool movie as well but these two movies and my old ass 4 4.5 out of uh out of five for me um going into next week which i'm not sure if we're going to see but i did want to catch the i wanted to catch the first movie of gladiator um this came out in 2000 we're going to revisit it now starring ridley scott or directed by ridley scott starring um russell crow Joaquin Phoenix, Richard Harris, um who was Dumbledore. he was in um He was in Captain Monte Cristo, too. um But this movie is really, really epic, really good, um and a lot of a Shakespearean tones really got put into that.
00:20:25
Speaker
He recreated the Roman Colosseum, if you've ever seen the Colosseum, it's in ruins now, but he went in with CGI and and recreated the whole entire Roman Colosseum look in the movie. I thought it looked great, the whole city of Rome. um One best best picture for the Oscars.
00:20:44
Speaker
um And the son in this movie is the main character in part two which comes out next week um his mother is in this movie as well um is still a prominent role in ah Roman politics the movie set 15 years later for next week if we do end up watching that but um Yeah decent very good movie like I said epic just just an epic epic Ridley Scott movie what you would get from him for a big almost bit of biblical portions um And you recommended this week's basketball movie, yeah Celtic Pride, 1996. I had no no idea about the timeline of this movie. um it was set It was set right before the Boston Garden shutdown. I had no idea. yeahp um They must have filmed in the garden right before they knocked it down. and It was at 98, like a couple of years after the fleet set had opened.
00:21:39
Speaker
um yeah They must have filmed they must have filmed the movie in there while while right during the transition time this opened in 1996 but written by Judd Apatow one of his first movies this and the heavy weights Colin Quinn also wrote this movie with him um Bill Murray had previously previously said in in our interviews that he he's he will not work with Judd Apatow because of Of movies because of this movie because um Starring Daniel Sturm, Damon Waynes, Dan Aykroyd, Damon Waynes the basketball player who's playing for the Utah Jazz and this the Celtics at this time were horrible in real life.
00:22:25
Speaker
And in the movie the movie, they were going into the finals. And yeah in order to win the NBA cup and be a championship, um Daniel Stern and Dan Aykroyd kidnapped the lead player of the Utah Jazz, so the Celtics will win.
00:22:43
Speaker
ah Very strange fucking movie um funny at times. Oh very funny. I mean 90s funny comedy shit It was definitely at 90s. It was a movie of its time. Yeah movie of its time shooter McGavin Christopher Chris mc McDonald who's in a happy war? Daryl Hammond is in this he's the one fan in the audience says Jake's seen everybody and they kick him out of the arena ah Jeff Ross has a cameo, Dion Sanders has a cameo at the end, um Bill Walton, Bob Coosie, I know you know who these guys are, um and Larry Hart, I know who that is, um all had cameos in this movie, um filmed the last year of the Boston Garden, a comedic look at sports superstitions and extreme team fandom.
00:23:26
Speaker
That's what I wrote down. But yeah, because the superstitions of the of the whole entire team and having and having to sit a certain way in the audience and everything. Yeah, um, acroids Boston accent wolf It's movies like this that make me think he's not the best of an actor um movie made for particular Massachusetts audience, of course 90 Celtics fans at their weakest point, like I mentioned, um makes it you uniquely local but easily despised by any place outside of New England. I can see this movie being hated everywhere, but I can see a lot of people from from Boston loving it. It was perfect when I was, whatever I was, 14, 12, whatever I was when I saw this movie. It was perfect for my age and the factors about the Celtics.
00:24:15
Speaker
yeah oh Yeah, good movie though. Funny 90s, if you love 90s comedies, it's right up there with all those other 90s comedies. A movie I finally caught this week, thank fucking God, because it is a great, fantastic movie. Four and a half out of five Saturday nights. um I went back like you did and I watched the first episode last night as well on ah on months on Peacock. And this basically tells the story of the first night of Saturday Night Live in the set rehearsal and how messy it was.
00:24:44
Speaker
And all the all the crazy shit that was going on behind the scenes before the episode even aired. um this this This only picks up the first like scene of the first episode SNL episode. um But it picks up everything behind the scenes that happened that Lord Michaels was doing to get the get the show up and running um throughout going live. And they had a Johnny Carson tape ready to play. um It was kind of a quick decision whether to play the Johnny Carson tape or go live because they weren't sure, they weren't kind of Sure how a sketch show is going to work it's late at night on a Saturday, but look what look where it is now. Casting in this movie is top notch. Guy who plays Lorne Michaels, he was in the Fablemans. Chevy Chase is the guy who played Riddler in Gotham. um Dan Aykroyd is the kid who was in the the Maze Runner games, I believe.
00:25:35
Speaker
um The guy who plays John Belushi did a fantastic job depicting that character. um The kid who plays Andy Kaufman, I can't remember who what movie I've seen him in, but I've seen him in something. He's in he's in a comedy of some kind. I can't remember what he's in, but he did a great job. Gilda Radner, Lamar Morris as Garrett Morris did a great job depicting how dry Garrett Morris morris is in real life.
00:25:59
Speaker
um But he was funny on Saturday Night Live and that's the reason his dry humor, dry way of being being surrounded by comedians is why he worked on that show. The best casting in this movie was George Carlin and Jim Henson. um the guy who The guy who played George Carlin um is in The Americans, which I hear is a great show, never seen. um And the guy who played Jim Henson is another guy, another kid I've seen in a comedy before. I just don't i just don't know what I've seen him in. But ah fantastic job. J.K. Simmons as Milton Burrell.
00:26:35
Speaker
um a Willem Dafoe as a talent rep for NBC or for Hollywood or wherever. This movie had a great cast from top to bottom, and I think that's probably why it's gonna win some awards in awards season. but um Four and a half out of five for me, a very good, very great depiction. um um Jason Reitman, great director. I don't think he's had too many too many sluggish movies um and in the past, so there's it's no surprise that this is pretty good and right up there as well.
00:27:05
Speaker
um And yeah, very good movie another great movie Final movie we're gonna talk about this week um Actually, why don't you talk about you want something about Superman Lois this week or do you want something? Yeah So this was episode 7 Fucking amazing episode. So basically after Superman dies everyone in around town smallville starts realizing that he's like Clark Kent's no longer around so they're all trying to like say that that Clark is Superman blah blah blah so he's going around trying to convince people about his identity and basically it all leads up to the last 15 minutes of the episode where he's sitting in a diner with Lois and they're having dinner with Lois's best friend and a lot of Lane's ex-husband
00:27:54
Speaker
And this guy came in, um who in season two approached Clark and they got into it a little bit. But he comes in and he starts talking about how he knows his identity and how he's Superman and somebody told him that, whatever. So Clark saves up to kind of confront him and the guy pulls a gun. So they go like back and forth because there's other people in the diner and whatnot. And the gun goes off.
00:28:18
Speaker
And so then it goes into slow motion and Clark looks at Lois, looks at the two people they were sitting with, looks back at the guy, takes off his glasses, puts them on the table like Lois just like staring at him because it's slow mode to everyone except for him obviously. And then he rips his shirt revealing the S and the bullet hits his chest and bounces off.
00:28:40
Speaker
and then like it flashes out to like real time no longer slow-mo they get the guy out of the bar um superman then decides to call the daily planet and come out in front of everybody about his true identity and so he does like a sit-down interview at the very end of the episode right and he comes out and you know does the interview um then it flashes forward this is also a jimmy olson episode jimmy olson was sprinkled out throughout yes i saw that on social is because Jimmy Olsen called him out for being Superman when he worked in the Daily Planet. So then the last scene of this episode is Clark is in his bathroom and he's looking into the mirror and he's trying to figure out because he's about to just go out in town and meet Jimmy for lunch because Jimmy's back in the area and he kind of has to make the decision of if he's going to put his glasses on because now everyone knows his secret but at the same time like the glasses like make him Clark
00:29:35
Speaker
So he puts the glasses on, and he walks into the diner. that Everybody there knows his Superman at this point. And everyone just greets him. They're like, hi, Mr. Kent. And then he sits down at the table, and like kind of like he starts having a conversation with with Jimmy about it. And the camera like zooms out, and Jimmy's like, I knew it was you, blah, blah, blah. And that's where the episode ends. um But just the work when he walks in the diner in the very last scene, where he has his glasses on, and everybody knows his Superman, but they still call him Clark.
00:30:02
Speaker
because it's fucking small though. Fantastic episodes, one of my favorite episodes. And I think Tyler is my favorite Superman of all time. He just encapsulates the characters so well. um This episode is fantastic. And I can't believe we have like three left before it's over. um I'm gonna miss this show. It's been a fun ride.
00:30:23
Speaker
It's a show I gotta catch up on. um Speaking of Superman, brand new documentary came out and we're gonna review it now. um It was fantastic again. Probably the best documentary I've seen this year and I've seen some really good ones. We just watched a John Williams one last week. um But Superman.
00:30:41
Speaker
The Christopher Reeve story came out um traditional style documentary um or transitional I should say traveling traveling back and forth through the timelines of his life um pre and post injury. um The parallels of Superman and Christopher Reeve superhero philanthropic work for spinal injury research. was kind of det That's how they depicted it. um As he's filming Superman, they they go back and forth to him getting into the accident and becoming the hero of overcoming that accident. and The way he did it is just amazing. It's an incredible story. He got in the accident in May of 1995. It also shows his friendship with rob Robin Williams.
00:31:27
Speaker
and friendships since they were in Juilliard together, which I talked about when we talked about Robin Williams back this summer. um Original actors that tested or wanted to play Superman.
00:31:40
Speaker
Neil Diamond, Bruce Jenner, Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Cahn. I've heard the James Cahn one before. um yeah fire for a walkin Christopher Nick Nolte, John Voigt. They all lobbied or tested at one point for the role of Superman, but it and and ended up going to Christopher Reeves.
00:32:01
Speaker
ands chris walken Oh yeah, oh man. um David Prowse, who did Darth Vader, not the voice, but the the the actual person who played Darth Vader, trained him for his Superman rule, did the training for so for him while he was training for that movie.
00:32:19
Speaker
um One line that he then he says about Christopher Reeve's finding and crafting the duality of Clark and Superman, um he defined it as calculated schizophrenia. um He's right. i mean you have to be a du You have to be two different people, but you have to have the same morals, the same the same stance. It's very calculated how you depict these two characters, and he did one of the best ah depictions of that ever.
00:32:49
Speaker
In October of 2004, he died. They didn't show it in the documentary, but before that, he was on Smallville, which I know you watched last year, in in the last year. um And it's just amazing to see where he came from, from the 90s, in that horse riding accident, to see him acting in a show as, in a Superman show of all things.
00:33:10
Speaker
um and directing. He went on to direct after the accident also. Yeah, he went get one on to direct. um they showed a picture They showed a video of his funeral and Robin Williams' speech at the funeral was heartbreaking and cemented their decade-long friendship connection that they depicted in the documentary. um His wife, Dana, who stood by his side the whole entire time, she died a couple of years after in March of 2006.
00:33:33
Speaker
um We talk about his son, Will. he was um He is the son that he had with Dana. um yes he He is a mirror image of Christopher and he's also going to be in matt in um in James Gunn's Superman movie. He's playing a reporter in that. He's a reporter in real life for ABC News now.
00:33:52
Speaker
um This was a great documentary and like I said the best documentary I've seen this year five out of five for me I love this documentary and it's very very good. Like I said documentaries have been great recently um and this is top tier for that um um It's not streaming yet. It'll be on Mac soon. But but if you when you see it on there, definitely check it out um With that being said, let's jump into the news yeah we need the
00:34:26
Speaker
Can't have the news without the sounder I expected it to happen on its own We ended last week talking about d23 Brazil happened last week um And Saturday and a whole bunch of reveals we're gonna get into um we got the first look of Disney and what's gonna happen at Disney Parks of all the Magic Kingdom in Florida, they're gonna have this Disney villains land and all the villains that are gonna be involved in that land. You got Captain Hook, you got the Evil Queen from Snow White, you got Ursula, you got all the Jafar from Aladdin, the the the Queen of Hearts, you got all the main bad villains that have been in Disney movies throughout the years. um Kind of weird that it took them this long, 50 years to do this in the theme park, but, because everybody loves the villains.
00:35:12
Speaker
Um, but the big thing we're gonna talk about, um, well, Kevin Feige came out talking about, um, the Marvel attractions that are coming to Disneyland. Um, and, uh, basically, uh, Infinity Defense's Stark Flight Lab, uh, both have begun construction, uh, and will begin to construction next year. Robert Downey Jr. is gonna return as Tony Stark. We already talked about that back this summer.
00:35:36
Speaker
um And they announced a new toy. They showed some pictures of the newest Toy Story 5 and that Buzz Lightyear is going to have an army of but Buzz Lightyears and that's going to be the villain of the movie um and Yeah, they're gonna be all malfunctioning toys taking over that's the picture on the bottom them landing um Also released some information and some pictures for Fire and Ash, the new Avatar movie coming out on December of 2025. It's currently in post-production and they're still working on that. Announced that Andor season 2 has a new title.
00:36:22
Speaker
Andor, a Star Wars story, Season 2. Takes place over the course of four years. um Every three episodes, a year passes in Cassian's life. And this is gonna come out on April 22nd of next year. Brighter Winter Bomb came on stage before Kevin Feige talked about the movie side and talked about the television side.
00:36:43
Speaker
Um, brought up the possibilities of a Loki season three says there's always a chance. Um, talking about Jessica Jones, he's hoping that she'll get a new season, just like Daredevil and, um, Kingpin and, and, and Puntisher being brought into the issue. She he hopes that she does as well.
00:37:00
Speaker
<unk> Talking about Agatha along season two, um I think we all want to see more adventures in Westview. I don't think we'll see another Agatha this season, but we'll probably see see Agatha or Westview again in in in Vision Quest or something.
00:37:13
Speaker
um And before... I'm trying to think... yeah ah Kevin Feige did an interview before this panel while he was over wo in Brazil and he talks about the output of Marvel and all the movies that are going to be coming out from Marvel and talking about there's going to be two films and three shows after 2025 because 2025 is the catch-up year. um saying it It turns out that we have been working on these titles for a long time and they happen to be ready for release now. We are very excited but everything past this is going to be
00:37:49
Speaker
Cut back quite significantly. um Also talking about Blade. Still committed. We are committed to Blade. We love the character. We love the version that Mahershala has to of him. I can say that the character will reach the MCU. So he's very, very sure of it. So all the haters saying this movie is not going to happen.
00:38:10
Speaker
The god Feige says it is. so um Also talking about Scarlet Witch um saying, i only I can only say that we are excited to find out when and how the Scarlet Witch can come back. So there there is some speculation that she's going to come back in Secret Wars. Also says that the X-Men will be important to the MCU after the events of Secret Wars, which we've already heard before, but this is an official word out of Feige's mouth this time. um Saying that there are more plans for Deadpool and Wolverine.
00:38:40
Speaker
will always be the same always wondering where they can fit them in and and how fast they can get them in uh... they were so successful uh... talking about the future of eternals uh... he says he's very proud of that movie uh... that cast was incredible uh... we'd be lucky to get any of them back at some point uh... yeah i want to see about that uh... also talking the same about the inhumans uh... we'll see where if and when they return uh... the inhumans haven't been around since the shitty tv show that happened a decade ago yeah um...
00:39:08
Speaker
And also confirming that Miles Morales will appear in the third Spider-Verse, which is in production. I hope short shortly after that he can enter the MCU in live action. and We talked about not too long ago where there was a rumor of a new Sony deal within six months after Sony releases a movie with the character. Marvel has full rights to the character character use.
00:39:33
Speaker
um So I'm guessing this is part of that so they had to release this the spider-verse movie And then they can use miles in live-action same thing could be said about Aaron Taylor Johnson is craving to mmm That would be interesting if that if that would also could happen But ah you because he would be great working off of Tom Holland is craving doing the last hunt that'd be awesome um final season of what if Season three was announced coming out December 22nd eight episodes One final watch a lot of a lot of characters coming in but the big one that everybody's talking about The actress who does storm in x-men 97 and the x-men 90s show is coming in to weld mirror mirror more mirror
00:40:18
Speaker
whatever the hammer's called, Thor's hammer, and she's going to be in one of the episodes. um This is all, what they're saying, this is all going to lead up to eventually something happening in the multiverse. Something's going to happen in this show that's going to happen and it probably lead up into something bigger in the MCU. So we'll have to wait and see on that.
00:40:37
Speaker
um He also said that Fantastic Four only has a few more weeks of filming left. um And before the panel ended, we got a new look at Thunderbolts. Got some pictures of the the characters looked in the trailer. Not much from that, but the big trailer was the new trailer for Captain America Brave New World. As you can see, the Red Hulk, we we said, I mentioned it when I was talking about the character, the Red Hulk, a little bit different from the Green Hulk.
00:41:02
Speaker
When he turns Hulk, when when when when Thunderbolt Ross turns into the Hulk, he's on fire. And that's depicted on here. When he when he turns into the Hulk on stage at the White at the white House, he burns everything around him. and And you can see the fire coming from his hands in that picture there. um i think I cannot wait to see this movie. I hope it's good, though. I mean, we're still at ah a pivotal point on Marvel. A lot of issues with this movie while filming. A lot of issues. Yeah, that's what I hear. That's what I hear, too. so And we got new poster for it as well um And depicted right out of the comic books um So yeah, um, and of course foggy can't be seen anywhere without a new hat and he had a brand new hat they were giving out at Comic-con of the the whole thread halt grab in Captain America shield thought that was pretty cool. But um So let's get into the rest of the news. We got a brand new trailer for
00:41:57
Speaker
The next movie in Mission Impossible, with a new title, The Final Reckoning, coming out on May 23rd of next year. um Trail looks good, but i'm so I think I'm in like three or four movies behind on the ceiling, so I gotta catch up before then. but um Yeah, it looks really good, lots of action. um Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise things, flying and jumping and doing a whole bunch of his own stunts. so Looked pretty cool. um Got a new trailer for Secret Level. We talked about this a while ago. It's an end mythology series coming out on Prime, ah December 10th. And all it it all depicts a whole bunch of video games from the past. and
00:42:34
Speaker
um The video games are Pac-Man, Warhammer, 40,000, Mega Man, Dungeons and Dragons, a lot of PlayStation exclusives too, games and characters. um But there's a lot of cast to this as well. We mentioned it a couple of weeks ago.
00:42:50
Speaker
that Keanu Reeves Arnold Schwarzenegger who else is on there that's of note Kevin Hart a lot of Patrick Schwarzenegger his son there's a lot of characters that are in this show trailer looks really cool it's gonna be like kind of like a CG CGI i Human type of weird Animation look pretty cool though um that comes out on Prime December 10th Brand-new trailer for movie. I didn't hear about till this week called the amateur um Rami Malek Lawrence Fishburne Rami Malek plays like a government desk guy who works on a computer and
00:43:29
Speaker
um Somebody kills his wife and he's an amateur so he he goes in and he's pissed off and he wants to take revenge and he goes in kind of John Wick style to try to kill the guy who kills his wife. The trailer looks pretty cool, comes out on April 11th.
00:43:45
Speaker
Got a new trailer, new posters for Y2K. This is a movie, if Y2K had happened and actually everything went wrong and the world ended. Starring top left, Fred Durst. I was gonna say, is that Fred Durst? It is Fred Durst. And a whole bunch of kids. It's like a teen movie, but looks funny, looks like it could be okay.
00:44:06
Speaker
um In a I think hula released some what's coming up next year type of deal and they released some new stills from Alien Earth I want to post those and go through see does look really really cool And I can't wait for that. We have some alien predator news later, but we'll get into that later.
00:44:22
Speaker
um The Martin Scorsese documentary, Beatles 64, coming out November 29th. Released a new poster for that. um Yeah, I'm gonna watch that in a couple weeks. um Weekend box office last week.
00:44:37
Speaker
um Venom, the third Venom movie, 16 million. um Best Christmas pageant ever. What the fuck is that? Number two, 11 million. And heretic a movie, 11 million. not Not a big box office weekend, but Venom's still winning the box office, making a lot of money for Sony.
00:44:58
Speaker
um Rest in peace to Tony Todd, we just talked about him recently. um He did the voice of Venom in the last Spider-Man game, but he has been in a ton of movies. Candyman, of course, is being the big thing, big franchise. find the Final Destination, um he was in Psych, I'm not Psych, he was in Chuck in one episode, but Psych too. he's been There's a ton of people in Psych, but been a lot of comedies, a lot of movies, a lot of TV shows.
00:45:24
Speaker
Rest in peace to Tony Todd. Very funny, and of course we just talked about the crow. Hell of a voice. Yeah, hell of a voice. We just talked about the crow. He's a henchman in the crow, as depicted in the picture there. Yeah, rest in peace to Tony Todd. It's something that was funny. I don't get into politics because I hate politics, but theonionbuysinfowars.com, and they're going to turn it into a satire. Infowars.com was owned by Alex Jones, conspiracy theorist.
00:45:53
Speaker
um And he went in a bang our bankruptcy option auction and yesterday um The onion purchased info wars. They're gonna turn it into a satire I'm in there and they plan on relaunching it into a comedy property and they're gonna be They're gonna be doing a whole bunch of news outlets and in a conspiracy theorists like him Alex Jones and They're gonna be parrying them on the website. So that was really really cool.
00:46:18
Speaker
I love the onion great fake news stories um I saw some internet Speculation and I said this when we were talking about it when they do the Americans the the American Psycho remake that Jacob Elardi should play Patrick in the movie and I saw some internet people picking that up too. So um No official word on that yet. I didn't want to mention on the podcast that it came here first so if we see anything we'll we'll but we'll we'll talk about it, but I'm speaking of casting Lady Gaga has been cast in a mystery role in Wednesday season two Which I was pretty high on season one. I liked it in general. Yeah, you're And I cannot wait to see a season two Lady Gaga has some hit and misses though The big hit for me, of course stars born the big missus choker foley do but I don't think that was all her fault, but No, I hear it I hear she's great in American Horror Story, which I'm not into I haven't seen any of them, but I've heard the same
00:47:14
Speaker
Yep. I saw this news today. I wanted to bring it up to you and get your opinion on it. Zach Steiner is developing a new project for Netflix. Going to direct and co-write it. Sure is. It's about an action thriller following an elite LAPD unit. what are you What are your thoughts? It's on Netflix. My issue is he's co-writing it. Okay. If he was just directing it, I would be a lot more excited. um I don't think he's a very strong writer. Right, yeah. Yes.
00:47:41
Speaker
I guess similar to obviously on a lesser ah wish dot.com version of maybe like a George Lucas where he has good ideas. He's very good at writing. um George always had that same issue. um Good idea, man. So hopefully he doesn't have too much to do with the dialogue, but it should be interesting. It'll be nice to see him like do something like low level because he's never done anything low level. Like his first movie was Dawn of the Dead, which is a zombie movie. So it'll be interesting.
00:48:07
Speaker
um wb for the harry potter tv series is eyeing mark rylance for dumbledore um i don't know if you know recognize him from anything i've seen him in a bunch of stuff he was in the bfg um he's been in a whole bunch of different movies as a character actor here and there but yeah he just looks familiar to me Yeah, great actor and the things I've seen him in, so it'd be interesting to see another Dumbledore after seeing the iconic ones we saw in the in the years before, but yeah, they're gonna be recasting all those kids. Also, speaking of Harry Potter,
00:48:38
Speaker
um They're saying that jerry J.K. Rowling is fairly fairly involved in the Harry Potter ah series um with her input for the casting especially considering that she's been so loud on Twitter about trans rights and everything. Yeah, I thought she got cancelled. She did. And she got cancelled from the Harry Potter franchise and that's basically the reason why the last why why the Fantastic Beasts movies kind of failed too is because she want she lost her input to them.
00:49:05
Speaker
um But yeah, it's kind of surprising to see that but um Happy Gilmore to currently filming and they brought back Adams. They brought back ah Ben Stiller and to Play his role from the first movie as the dr. Hal L That that harasses Adam Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore's grandmother in the nursing home. So that'd be pretty funny. Um the PETA Nwango Has joined the star-studded cast of Christopher Nolan's next film Tom Collins and dia and her so um Yeah, very excited for that movie Matt Damon to um Laura Croft TV series don't know if we need this or not um Sophie Turner has been cast for a crop in a live-action another live-action reboot of the series sounds like a terrible casting
00:49:55
Speaker
Not only that, but why is this movie why do people still care about Laura Croft? It was okay, those movies with ah angelina Angelina. The other ones, the one with um the girl from Ex Machina were way better. but she little across i never I never saw that. I did like the supernatural aspect of it. I don't know if that movie was as supernatural or not, but very much very much Indiana Jones-like.
00:50:17
Speaker
Um, the boys on social media social media made a parody post, because Elon Musk being announced to the Department of Government efficiency this week or whatever it was, the boys released a picture of the Deep named head of Department of- preserving Earth.
00:50:35
Speaker
I thought that was pretty funny, I wanted to bring that up. in The Department of Preserving Earth, the acronym is dope. so I thought that was pretty funny. Boys to Men, doing a new biopic and documentary, both in the works. um I love Boys to Men in the 90s. Motown Philly back again. so um x the The Xbox heads are saying the handhelds are in the works, but they're years away from release. I saw this article on IGN. I was like, holy shit. Everybody does a handheld and Xbox has never done one in the 20 plus years they've been around. I'm so surprised because it's so it's a huge market handhelds from the DS to the Game Boy way way back in the day. The PS Vita, PS, whatever the hell they had for the PlayStation.
00:51:21
Speaker
um Yeah, I'm surprised Xbox has never had a handheld at all of any kind, but um they said it's years away from happening, but it's in the works. A complete unknown, the the Bob Dylan biopic has some new pictures. we got Timothy Chalamet is Bob Dylan.
00:51:38
Speaker
Bob ah boyd Holbrook, we talk about a lot. um he was in He was in Wolverine um logan or Logan. i need yeah um He's going to be playing Johnny Cash. I had no idea until I saw this poster this week. Edward Norton's in that as well too. so i Kind of excited. i linkd up I like biopics. Bob Dylan's okay. so Me too. um um Live action how to train your dragon release some new stills. We got hiccup. I don't know if you've ever seen the the Dreamworks movie. It's pretty good. um It's a pretty good movie. I don't think I've seen them all but the first one is really good.
00:52:11
Speaker
And I would see the dragon these are these are still said have not been released with the top one has been the the The dragon toothless right straight out of the animated movie I'm glad they didn't go the weird route and turn it into a real looking dragon like they did for for peace dragon for Disney, which was fucking awful, but um
00:52:33
Speaker
Talking about the Predator, um we talked about Alien earlier. um Predator Badlands, the director Dan Trachtenberg says the creature is front and center leading the charge. He's still badass but there's something there that touches you emotionally too. um Creating a character you connect with but are also super intimidated by has been challenging. Also talking about the character is going to be the protagonist.
00:52:57
Speaker
um It's behind the scenes still that came out in Empire's 2025 preview of a magazine that came out today. um Also mentioned in that article, Elle Fanning is playing multiple characters in that Badlands movie. um She faced intense challenges in this movie dramatically, physically, and logistically. Don't know Elle Fanning, sister of Dakota Fanning. Don't know anything about this movie other than the sequel to Prey, right? So yeah.
00:53:21
Speaker
um Also in that magazine article that came out today got a very first look at at a Scarlett Johansson in the Jurassic Jurassic World Rebirth coming out next year. Yeah um Airbnb they do all these weird things where they bring in these iconic scenes from movies or real life. I know until last year they did well they did the X Mansion. They also did the the House from Hocus Pocus over here in in Massachusetts in Salem. But they're going to be doing the Colosseum in Rome. They're doing it. a Select a few guests can attend and battle in the Roman Colosseum.
00:54:03
Speaker
$0 per person and available to book on November 27th. So first come first served by the looks of it, but that's what it's gonna all look like Little ah little nooks and crannies built into the Coliseum yeah, um Speaking of the Harry Potter TV series a rural release in 2027 the CEO says of HBO um So yeah um announced today hosting the Oscars 2025 Conan O'Brien ah I like Conan. I liked to Conan in the 90s. It doesn't don't do much now, but yeah, I like Conan I could see that I told Jimmy Kim won't be done doing it for years So not surprisingly brought a late-night guy in there to do that um a remake of Forbidden Planet a movie that came out in the 50s I believe starring Leslie Nielsen a remake coming out for Warner Brothers um Yeah, they came up today news for that
00:54:56
Speaker
um Final episodes of Cobra Kai were released the final seat part of the season on February 13th. They must have been released after the episodes aired on Netflix this week. um Also came out today, I know you'd be excited maybe about this. A new iteration of Friday Night Lights is in the works for Universal television. Being rebooted in the same universe with brand new cast. That's what I heard. so Yeah, what do you think? I mean, I know you're the first the first run. Same world, same universe, same high school, new teachers, new kids. Yeah, and I guess I could see like them bringing back other people that were previously as you were there up to nowadays. Maybe a new coach. Maybe one of them, maybe one of the old players will be the new coach. Yep. Let me see that.
00:55:43
Speaker
ah oh Yeah actually Reboots are weird reboots are weird for shows that you you like so um Toy Hall of Fame we talked about it this time last year and they finally announced the nominees for this year First of all the the nominees total what they were going to be nominating They're going to nominate Well, actually I'll tell you what they nominated first um These are we're actually going in um transformers um
00:56:14
Speaker
My little pony in the card game face 10 which I love face 10 I used to play that all the time hmm The ones that did not make it um The board game apples to apples balloons just the regular balloon um Choose your own adventure game books has toy trucks on this bigger in the south um Pokemon trading card games RC vehicles another card game sequence or game um the stick horse and uh trampolines were all nominated but the only ones actually going in the hall of fame are those three there um toy hall of fame i believe is in new york uh started within the last 20 years um no 1998 was when it started um so yeah um empire magazine has a brand new cover to pick the andor
00:57:01
Speaker
um talking this is the 2025 preview magazine that came out today there must be more yeah I just see all the stuff that on here that I don't have pictures of but they have to smile tap to a whole bunch of other stuff I have to hunt this down but um yeah and or season two and we got the very first look at credit coming back from Rogue One so that's pretty cool um want to talk about the Star Wars movies with Ray She's everywhere everybody wants her um One of the ah one of the insiders that at Star Wars Talked about Ray is valuable cinematic asset in some ways. Maybe the only one Star Wars has right now and not because the worst very price Yeah by anonymous source um She's the most valuable cinematic asset. So they're gonna be using her in every way that they possibly can but
00:57:53
Speaker
Um Apple is rumored to be releasing its own smart home camera. um They're gonna be having a new smart home Wall iPad looking thing. They're basically doing what Amazon Prime did 10 years ago that it should have done 10 years ago But they're of course late to the game on everything but coming out in 2026 with AI features and everything So we'll have to wait and see on that. Um Got brand new merch. So we've got a new brand brand new swag sounder. Oh SWAG! Stuff we all get.
00:58:25
Speaker
come on you know that's right Got brand new merch for Deadpool and Wolverine Funko Pops for the four characters that showed up in the end and in the middle of the movie. The Gambit one looks fucking cool.
00:58:38
Speaker
um Also, coming out with Hot Toys, Ryan Reynolds released this on his Instagram Reel of the Hot Toys figure from the beginning of the movie of what of Deadpool using Wolverine's bones as weapons. and It looks very, very cool. Hot Toys figures, of course, are great. But the one thing I want to talk about is Hot Toys releasing the Bat Missile.
00:59:00
Speaker
I love the way the Hot Toys figures look, but they do a great job depicting not only the the the human figures, but the vehicles as well. All the Batmobiles I've ever seen from Hot Toys look amazing. Everything I've ever seen from Hot Toys, for for especially the Batman stuff, has looked really, really cool. The Tumbler from Dark Knight looks awesome. The 80-89 Batman looks awesome. And the Bat Missile from Batman Returns here was released and announced this week. Looks awesome.
00:59:27
Speaker
um Yeah, looks looks great. I I don't think this has ever been really a toy before um There was of course the older older ones way back in the day There were like 20 bucks at the store and we when you bought the action figures But not a lot not with this much detail and it looks really really cool The other thing that's never happened i actually posted on my Twitter for the first time in forever this week I don't know how Lionel trains, you know me, I'm your dad too. We're both into trains. It's a weird, and weird obsession I've had since the early mid 90s model trains. I don't know how Lionel has not worked with the universal studios to make a back to the future train from back to me, back to future part three, because lots of geeks like myself would spend tons of money for something like that. see Never ever has there no actually figured nothing of that train, by the way.
01:00:18
Speaker
tons of DeLoreans everywhere, different sizes from Hot Wheels to Hot Toys, um but never depicting the train, nothing. um I think the only thing that I've ever seen online, um the McDonald's Happy Meal toys had a train. That's the only thing that's ever been done for the train for Back to the Future. So Universal Studios, Back to the Future, Bob Gale, Robert Zemeckis, anybody you need to get on this.
01:00:44
Speaker
um
01:00:48

James Gunn, we talked about last week that maybe there's going to be a Joker movie setting in Matt Reem's universe. James Gunn had debunked that right after we set it on the podcast last week. yep um Not going to happen. um Joker series is not being discussed, nor has ever come up at that time. so um Speaking of Joker joker and Joker 2, comedian Tim Dillon plays a guard in that movie.

and talked about how um it's the worst film ever made. It's not even hate watchable. That's how terrible it is. It has no plot where we we would sit there. Me and these other guys were all actors.

We were all dressed in the security guard outfits because we were working at the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them, and we heard this crap, and I'd go, what the fuck is this? And they'd go, this is going to bomb, man. I go, this is the worst thing I've ever seen. This movie had a lot of problems, and we can we can tell behind the scenes that they knew ahead of time too, so that's pretty funny. Peacemaker, like you mentioned earlier, i forgot that I forgot I had this in the notes, but Peacemaker season two is releasing.

Um, ah August of 2025 after Superman. Um, James, kind of James gonna confirm that on Twitter, I believe with two leaks left to shoot. Um, uh, yeah, that's kind of cool. um T.J. Miller after bad-mouthing Ryan Reynolds for as long as he did and saying so many shitty things about him has come and said Ryan Reynolds is such a good friend now. um After two years he says I would not work after not working after saying two years ago he would not work with him again. um um We talked a little while ago I think he's been such a good friend and right now that I think it would be really I think returning for Deadpool 4 would be awesome.
01:02:33
Speaker
um I thought he was pretty good in Deadpool 1 and 2 the only problem was grade most the only thing problem with TJ Miller He's one character for everything. I've ever seen him in from Silicon Valley to this to another movie um He's out of my league. I love that movie, too. He's the same character throughout everything. um But he's funny. he He's funny. He works off of Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool. because He's got that dry sense of humor, too. So, works. The cast of, the voice cast of Marvel Zombies was was announced today. Amon Volani, who plays Ms. Marvel, um David Harbour, Simu Yu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, who plays um

Ironheart, all coming back to voice their characters from the MCU in the animated Marvel zombies, I think four episode animated series coming out next year. So yeah, I'm getting into the Marvel MCU side of live action. um John Malkovich is playing somebody in the Fantastic Four rumors that he's going to be playing a character called the Red Ghost.
01:03:42

um Super villain genius who first appeared in 1963 is fantastic for number 13 And he receives his powers from cosmic rays with the evil genius gaining the ability to become invincible and tangible um Superhumanly strong and durable and he also has super apes that are his are his minions so yeah um Also, I heard rumors that first steps the beginning of the movie is going to be going to be showing fuck i just lost my train of thought First steps is going to be showing the beginning of the movies a montage with all the villains from the past that that's where I thought um So they could bring in mole, man They can bring in characters like this these secondary characters that wouldn't be in the movie play the main villain However, they could show them they've been around for a while fighting these villains. So it'd be pretty cool. Um

Speaking of that, First Synopsis from Fantastic Four was officially announced today. um Set against the vibrant backdrop of the 1960s-inspired retrofuturistic world, forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, then Fantastic Four must defend Earth from a ravenish space god called Galactus, as enigma herald an enigmatic herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus' plan to devour the attack entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
01:05:09
Speaker
Um, also announced for the first time officially that, um, Julia Gardner is going to be playing the female version of Silver surf Surfer. Um, but yeah, that's the very first synopsis for a fantastic four first steps. So also officially joining the cast of first steps in speculation. I already know who she's going to be playing. She's going to be playing Ben Grimm's girlfriend, I bet. But Sarah Niles, who was in Ted Lasso, she played Ted's psychiatrist.
01:05:39

in the second season, and she showed up in the third season too. But she's going to be joined, she's joined the cast at first steps, and I think she's going to be playing the blind African-American woman that falls in love with Ben Grimm, the thing. And she doesn't know that he's, well, she knows, she can feel his face and he's rocky, but she's kind of like blind, she's blind so she doesn't, she doesn't see, it doesn't affect her love for him, so. um I think that's really cool casting, if that's, if that's what, it that's my speculation, I haven't seen that anywhere, but that's my speculation, but,

um Brad Winterbaum talked about a lot of stuff on Marvel Television, even after the D23 stuff. What If Season 3 is going to be integral to the MCU storyline. I talked about that a little bit earlier. um There are bigger universe reasons why it feels like What If needs to coast in for a landing right now.
01:06:27
Speaker
It also reveals Wonder Man and will consist of eight episodes um And it's saying the West Coast Avengers if you're a fan of that knowing a little bit about Simon Williams You're going to be very excited to see how much we pay homage to these source material Talked a little about about Ironheart as well. We were really Williams. I have a 20 star sized ego um It's a crime show in a way Marvel has not done before Um, and they built the practical suit for the, for the first time in a very long time for, for Ironheart. Um, since the very, they took techniques from the very first Iron Man film and they brought it into the TV show in Ironheart. So that's pretty cool. Um, also confirms there are plans for John Bernthal's Punisher in the MCU going forward and also plans that, um, Daredevil, uh, born again could be multiple seasons. And there's also plans for Daredevil later on the MCU outside the series. Um, and talking about villain vision quest.

It expands on the mythology developed in Wandavision and Agathol all along, but it also deals with early vision ideas from Phase 2 of the MCU. I'm guessing um um guessing Age of Ultron. Of course, James Vader's coming in to play Ultron in this, so I'm guessing we'll see a lot of connections to that as well. Also talking about Nova. um It says it's extremely promising. The vibe of that show is unique and very cool. So yeah, all the stuff I'm excited for for the MCU. See where where it's going to be going.

And finally in news, Denzel Washington was doing an interview because he's in Gladiator 2, revealing that he's going to be retiring soon. and Revealing some of his final roles, he revealed that Ryan Coogler is writing him a role in Black Panther 3. No idea who he's playing.
01:08:05
Speaker
But that's going to be one of his last roles. King Lear, Othello, and this are going to be his last roles in Hollywood. um he's turning to us he's on the edge He's on the edge of 70, so um I could see him wanting to leave on on his in his prime before before he he loses his his momentum a little bit in his mojo. Hopefully if Sun is in one of those movies with him, that would be awesome.
01:08:29
Speaker
