Speaker: Keepers.
Speaker: Hey, what's going on? What's happening? Are you there? Yeah, I'm here. Yeah, you've delayed. It's weird. You're skipping a little bit.
Speaker: I'm on my old computer, so that's why. That may be why. We may be having some issues tonight. Let's jump into the show. What we watched this week. um I did want to bring this up because i mentioned it last week. I wanted to watch an episode of Deli Boys. It's a new show on Disney Plus. a Hulu.
Speaker: um It's okay. I watched the first episode. It's okay. I think it's ah kind of a crime a crime comedy starring these two pack Pakistani kids that realized that his father their father was into some shady mobster type shit.
Speaker: and his aunt who is in the poster with them is kind of involved in it as well. um It's okay. um If you want to watch something quick, i think there's like eight episodes, maybe 10, 20 minutes a piece. They're not bad.
Speaker: um but' I'm not sure I'm going watch it or not. um Had some funny moments, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get into it. i got way too much other shit to watch, but I did want to watch the first episode. um But I did watch the second episode of Celtic City, which was fantastic.
Speaker: yeah um Further down the dynasty in the 60s, um talking about five black players on the team and the very first team to do that um where it was predominantly white back then um bill russell versus boston segregation of course boston being predominantly irish um there was a lot of shit going on back then and he was definitely for civil rights he was friends with martin luther king he was involved in all of that so When all of that happened as well, it was a big deal in Boston, um and he stood up for the rights pretty much when Boston was behind on a lot of things.
Speaker: um Talked a little bit about the Boston Garden, the history of the Garden. um i know that they changed it to the Fleet Center in the 90s. We'll get into that, I'm sure, in the documentary. but um Old building.
Speaker: um the floorboards at one point were sticking out, and they'd they'd have to know where the spots were that were sinking um and when they were running up and down the court. um It's kind of a disadvantage for teams coming in, ah but the Celtics had a little bit of an advantage for that.
Speaker: um Eight championships in a row. We talked about it a little bit last week, but they had eight from 59 to 66, which is fucking ridiculous. It's crazy. Yeah, and that's the same thing. And I think it was, yeah, 11 titles in 13 years, which is, it just that's just a crazy, crazy number.
Speaker: um Bill Russell became the Celtics coach in 66 and 69 seasons. um Coach player. um Never heard of that. i asked you about it off pod and you said that it is rare, but it did happen every once in a while.
Speaker: Yeah. Balloons in the rafters in LA Lakers for the 69 series. yeah Lakers were already prepared to win the seventh game in the series.
Speaker: um they They were ready to celebrate. and this is the I think it was the owner of the team had already put balloons up in the rafters for the Lakers. They were playing in l LA the final game. And when Bill Russell found out about it and all the players found out about it, um they were pissed, of course. um So they worked their fucking ass off and won the game and made the Lakers look like fools. It was a great, great episode. They interviewed Jerry West a lot during this. um He is the logo.
Speaker: That's literally his nickname because you see the logo, that's him dribbling the ball. Okay. Yeah, I remember hearing about that. Okay. Yeah. um The numbers don't lie, okay?
Speaker: 11 titles, 13 years, 8 championships in a row. Is Bill Russell the best Celtic, and is he the best and NBA player of all time? ah he put it, I think I'm going to paraphrase because I can't remember his exact quote, but he goes, he asked me if I'm the greatest ever, and he goes, I don't know, I just got 11 championships. That's for for other people to decide. Basically, that's what he said.
Speaker: I mean, at the time, he's going against Will Chamberlain, which is universally renowned as the best player, one of the best players of all time, and he beat him quite a bit in that run, going one-on-one against him.
Speaker: I would put Russell in the top 10, but games evolved too much so to say. like Yeah, it has. january He's the, he's the winningest of all time winning. is person Yeah. That's a good, that's a good, that's a good analogy. I like that.
Speaker: Uh, yeah, great show. This is on, on Monday nights, uh, for the next eight weeks, I believe maybe seven more weeks. I can't remember, but a very good documentary. If you're from this area, you definitely love it.
Speaker: Um, finale of dark side of the cage came out this week and I told you I was going to watch it. So I did, um, All about War Machine. How much of this story... I mean, we all we all heard about it back when it happened. War Machine, m a m MMA fighter.
Speaker: um He was on Ultimate Fighter. found that out in the doc in the in the episode. um yeah And he beat up his girlfriend, Christy Mack, who's a porn star. And... Yeah, it told the whole story. Very, very hard to watch. He's a troubled person. he's in He's in jail for the rest of his life.
Speaker: um He... he pretty much destroyed her face to the point where she had to get plastic surgery to regroup. Uh, she lost a bunch of her teeth. Um, she, she had a ruptured liver, whole bunch of shit, broken ribs, beat the shit out of her when, when they broke up. Um, and he's, he's rightfully in jail.
Speaker: Not a good guy. a lot of, uh, lot of bad stuff happened to him when he was growing up and, uh, he just never got out of that. Yeah, this is ah this is a decent show, but I like Dark Side of the Ring so much better. but um who was Who was the narrator of the show? Do you know?
Speaker: I'm blanking on it now. I still haven't watched last three episodes, which I'm... Okay. Fuck, who is it? I can't remember. i I wasn't sure if it was a big name or not. That's what was going to ask.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, it it was decent, though. And I already knew most of the story, so I was following it. And it's funny because it was a week before they caught him, after they beat him up. So he was on he was on America's Most Wanted list at that time.
Speaker: um And he was tweeting during the whole entire time apologizing to Christy Mack. um yeah it was crazy um then uh daredevil we got the third episode of daredevil came out um it was not as good as if as the premiere but it was still decent um he was in at one point he mentions name officer morales which is obviously ah miles morales's father um and the end of the episode
Speaker: White Tiger, who's this character, the actor who played him died in real life. um He ends up getting shot in the head by someone who you think is the Punisher, but I have a feeling he's an imposter.
Speaker: Definitely a cop. Yeah, because all the cops are wearing the Punisher logo as a tattoo. It's reminiscent of how kind of the... There's a militant group in America right now.
Speaker: Not even a milant militant group. It's more of just like rednecks that are using the Punisher logo kind of as ah rebels. i get Rebellion, I guess. They it during the ah insurrection in these Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they're trying they're trying to kind of do a tongue-in-cheek real life type of deal going on with that, and with the show.
Speaker: Um, and of of course, uh, that's going to probably bring out Frank Castle saying, why are you using my logo like that? Um, because I remember the comics when this whole thing happened a few years ago, ah the comics actually changed the Punisher logo in the comic books because of it was being used for that, for the January 6th stuff.
Speaker: Uh, but yeah, have very, very good show. Um, not as good as the first few episodes, but good. Also, my question is, though, at the end we saw what happened with White Tiger. Is he just walking around like fucking kick-ass or something? Like, he's not even trying to hide in the shadows after that. Like, I think he'd be, like, in the shadows, he's just, like, walking around the street in his suit.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, i think I think that was, yeah. He wasn't really showing his superpowers or anything, because supposedly it gives him powers. but um I think he was showing that he wasn't afraid or something. don't know. thought it was weird that he walking around in his suit.
Speaker: Right, yeah, possibly. um So yeah, what we what else did we watch this week? Well, last week was all about Reacher season 1 and 2, so of course, catching up on season 3 this week, I'm already caught all caught up Um, great, great season. Beginning of it was kind of slow getting into a different, uh, set in Maine. Of course, we talked about that before.
Speaker: Um, but he's up against somebody who's even bigger than he is. And he's a brick shithouse. And this guy is even bigger than him. Um, and they're going to have a big showdown at one point. I think it was and in the middle of these episodes we watched. They actually do have a showdown.
Speaker: um and he gets the shit. Reacher gets a shit knocked out by him. Um, so it's going to be an interesting task for him to take down this big guy. um and And now that Reacher, spoiler, um is kind of on the run from them because they know who he really is. um It's going interesting end of the season. we've Got a couple episodes left.
Speaker: yeah um can we Very, very, very, very good show. He's amazing. He should be a Batman. i was kind of against it just from what I knew from Smallville. But after watching him in Reacher, he's just he's got the comedic chops, like just tongue in cheek comedy, which Bruce Wayne has.
Speaker: um And he's just got the look, like when you saw the picture of Batman in Creature Commandos that they put on there in the animated series, how he was kind of built like Reacher. He was built muscular, almost like a mixture of Reacher and what Ben Affleck looked like when he was all muscled out in the Snyderverse. But yeah, I cannot wait to watch the next couple episodes.
Speaker: Very good show. um and I know you watched the Getting Lost documentary I talked about last week. What are your reactions to it? I've got notes. Give me a second because my notes are and on my computer. um Okay.
Speaker: So Lost. This documentary was very good. A lot of actors from the show and a lot of fans of the show were reviewed. um Okay.
Speaker: So originally Jack, who's the mainstay of Matthew Fox, um was actually going to played by Michael Keaton. And they were going to kill him in the first episode.
Speaker: And when the studio saw that, they were like, nope. So they basically recast him. So they basically just were like, all we're not going to use Keaton. They recast him with a guy from um Matthew Fox. Was he in Dawson's Creek or one of those shows back in the day? where are you party Party of Five, Party of Five. He was a Party of Five, yes. So they recast him with that.
Speaker: um The biggest two characters... These two characters after Jack had little to no acting experience. One of them is the Wasp. um What's her name? Evangeline Lilly.
Speaker: Yep. The polar bear in the very first episode is based on a Green Lantern comic. um that the kid on the island was reading at the time.
Speaker: um The pilot was filmed, and the head writer started writing episode two, but J.J. had left to shoot MI3, though J.J. pretty much didn't have any involvement in the first season after that.
Speaker: um The lost DVDs are what started the the trend of binge. um The Dharma initiative being on the show was actually O'Doul's. And the infamous lost numbers, 4, 8, 16, 20, 40, if you watch the show, you know what those are about.
Speaker: People would play them in the lottery. Those numbers hit in 2006, and the jackpot split 35,000 Wow. in ways wow all fans kept the show alive vi podcasting That's towards the from podcasting became a thing there was like seven or eight podcasting things cause people would look on itunes which it was the first show that was marketed to be sold on itunes but and they would search for lost episodes and run into podcasts episodes instead and so via podcast help
Speaker: the show live and kind of relevant towards the end um Lots of fan stuff. um One fan on a Lost tour for his what for his honeymoon.
Speaker: um So basically was a Caribbean vacation on the island that Lost took place. And the Darwin Initiative was like this, it was basically a summer camp. um So it was just filmed off-season.
Speaker: And it was a summer camp. Cool. um And JJ should have learned, he says, about the show, we asked too many questions and by the finale we knew the answers couldn't satisfy everyone.
Speaker: Wow, that sounds familiar. And to that say, word to Star Wars. so wow And I did not know apparently there was a lot of controversy because the show started off with a lot of um different races and ethnicities.
Speaker: But by the like the last season and a half, it was all people doing all the heroic shit and and basically saving all the minorities on the show, which I never put two and two together. um The overall fantastic documentary, if you liked it, I would highly recommend you you check it out.
Speaker: um It's a great show, especially that first season. Um... Three seasons, they'll have great moments, but yeah, check it out. Nice. um So yeah, we are in the year of Superman.
Speaker: So this week we're going to talk about the adventures of Superman, we're going to talk all about George Reeves. um He was this character of Superman for six seasons from 1952 to 1959. two ninety fifty nine um and he's just, it's an iconic before, before Christopher Reeves, George Reeves was Superman for everybody.
Speaker: um Huge numbers on television for ratings. um At the time, there's only three networks. So, I mean, it was, and TV was a brand new platform. So kids were watching.
Speaker: um and watching in numbers. um Episode one, when we watched it we watched a couple of, end up watching any of these episodes I listed on here? um I did put some on the notes. No, I forgot to check the notes.
Speaker: That's okay. That's okay. You don't need to know. I know you've probably seen some of these in the past anyway, because i like I have. i I watched a bunch of them like five or six years ago. Yeah, yeah. I watched them growing up. It was kind of just a reminder of what they what what the show used to be when I was going through this week.
Speaker: um And, yeah, I mean, truth, justice, and the American way right there. Superman, the backdrop behind the American flag. Ending the show. The characters who played Ma and Pa Kent were not called Jonathan and Martha.
Speaker: They were called Eben and Sarah. um Later on in the comic books, that was changed. And of course, the movies changed that to Jonathan and Martha and TV show. um Later on within like the next 10 years, it became known that their names were Jonathan and Martha.
Speaker: um Here's a few facts about the show. 104 episodes lasted over the six-year period. Kellogg's, the serial company, sponsored the show, um and they had commercials running through the show starring George Reeves and characters from the show.
Speaker: um And they also had George Reeves on the Corn Flakes box. um First two seasons were filmed in black and white. The last four were in color. um Once in color, the violence was toned down. It was more of a comedic foil.
Speaker: um The characters were more of a comedic foil to the bad guys. I got some pictures of the black and white there and the cast members. um <unk>da where I'm going to go in the notes here. ah Phyllis Coates played Lois in the first season. She was unavailable for the second season, so Noel Neal took over for seasons first season six through so ah two through six.
Speaker: um and She also played um Lois in the serials. um John Hamilton, who played Perry White, he died in 1958. He made the series his final acting role. and He's also the reason why Uh, there was a delay in the seasons. Uh, the sixth season, I think, came out in 58. Um, and they were supposed to make a season seven, which we'll get into in a minute.
Speaker: Um, Lois was the damsel in distress. Same with Jimmy Olsen. He played that role, too. Um, and Superman having to to save them every week from the villain of the week. Um, Noelle Neal, she cameoed in, well, first of all, I do have some color picture. i have a color picture. This is what it looked like when it turned to color.
Speaker: Um, Noelle Neal and, um, and Jack Larson, who played Jimmy Olsen, cameoed in not only Superman 78, she was in the train. There's a deleted scene with Lois Lane as a kid when Superman was running in 78 Superman.
Speaker: um and That was her mother playing Lois Lane's mother on in the train watching Superman run by. oh nice Jack Larson was also in Superboy, the TV show. um He was an older Jimmy Olsen in Lois and Clark, the TV show. and Noelle and Jack were both in Superman Returns um Noelle was the aging woman in the beginning that Lex Luthor took all the money from in the in the apartment in in the big mansion.
Speaker: um And he made her sign the will over to him. And Jack Larson was the bartender that was in that. It was prominently in that show, in that movie, which we're going to talk about probably in a few in a couple months, but.
Speaker: Yeah, good show. What else I have for notes? George Reeves appeared in on um I Love Lucy. The picture of him on I Love Lucy. This is right in 1957, right in the midst of it.
Speaker: um the Seventh and eighth seasons were in production for 1960 release window, sidelined by John Hamilton's death, like I said. They actually went as far as to recasting the editor role as somebody who was going to be Perry White's brother.
Speaker: um And, of course, the and untimely death of George Reeves took this all um out of place and canceled the show eventually. um The spinoff was planned. jimmy's Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen was going to be a more focused on um Jack Larson's character, Jimmy Olsen.
Speaker: um And they're going to do stock shots of George Reeves and stunt doubles playing Superman. um Jack Larson, after after chris ah George Reeves died, turned this down. Um, so yeah, the show ended because of George Reeves' death, and that leads us into Hollywoodland. Did you end up watching this? I hope you did, because it's a good movie. No, I didn't.
Speaker: watch I we were doing it next week, but I'll watch it. No, yeah, we were doing it this week. Hollywoodland, great movie. Adrian Brody, Diane Lane, Ben Affleck, ah Bob Hoskins, who was in lot of stuff. We talked about how he's been in some shitty movies, some good movies. This was a good one.
Speaker: um And, yeah, he played the mub a kind of mob boss that was rumored to be the one. the The mystery of this whole entire thing was George Reeves' um In the news, he committed suicide.
Speaker: However, it was sketchy, so his mother hired a private investigator was played by Adrian Brody, and he went in to try to find out what happened and to see if there was any evidence that maybe there was some murderous stuff going on instead. and He did find out that Bob Hoskins' character, he was a MGM Studios fixer.
Speaker: his name was actually His nickname was The Fixer, real-life guy. Um, and he would go in, he was behind the scenes. And if some, if there's some sort of scandal was happening in Hollywood, you hear these stories all the time back in the day, especially with gay people.
Speaker: Cause it was not, that was not and that was a no, no back then. Um, he would hide that. um He would hide that from the public and he would go in and fix the situation, give them, in some cases, give them a girlfriend or give them a wife to actually make the public think that he's straight.
Speaker: He would do stuff like that, but he was he would also clean up a lot of situations. The movie, have you ever seen the movie um Hail Caesar by the Coen brothers? Oh, yeah. Yep. That is his character. Josh Brolin is that character. Same guy. Yep.
Speaker: yep um Bob Hoskins' characters and Josh Brolin's character. Same character. Ah, okay, that makes sense. Yep, and there he's a Hollywood fixer. So and I think in that movie there was a pregnant woman. i haven't seen it, but I heard about it.
Speaker: Yeah, very good movie. um um And yeah, I wish I had contacted you to watch it because it's it was a good movie. um And Ben Affleck does a great job playing George Reeves. I think i think he wears a prosthetic nose. and Something about it looked off.
Speaker: um But he's definitely he definitely has that old noir-style acting that George Reeves had back in the day. um Just the way he used to talk and everything. a Very good movie. um In a couple weeks, we're going to talk about maybe next week, don't because you're going on vacation, we're going to figure it Next on the docket is 78 Superman.
Speaker: um which is when everything changed. And that's when Christopher Reeves was hired. can talk about that film without watching it again because I've seen it like five times since last September because I got the 4Ks. So like I can talk about that movie anytime.
Speaker: So I'll probably end up watching it this weekend, make some notes, and we'll definitely dive into it next time we work record. Well, that being said, let's jump into the new
Speaker: And it's not new set of trailer roundup. First trailer this week was a hard one to watch. they're making a new Stan Lee documentary, The Final Chapter. um it reveals how Stan Lee was abused behind the scenes by this guy who he said was a friend.
Speaker: um And it was exploiting him in his final few years doing Comic-Con circuits um and doing appearances. And I mentioned when I saw him, which I do have a picture um Number one, this picture, that's the Hail Caesar.
Speaker: Go back a little bit. That's the one I was talking about. um This picture right here is him signing a whole bunch of shit for this guy to sell online. This is part of the documentary behind-the-scenes stuff.
Speaker: um It's a crazy, crazy thing that happened to Stan Lee at the end. Heartbreaking. um Also, it reminded me of when I saw him.
Speaker: This is me seeing him in 2015. When i saw him... I felt like it being in a cattle call and Stanley was just sitting in the chair, had no emotion, nothing on his face, didn't say anything to anybody. He just stood by stood next to him and took a picture.
Speaker: No interaction with with him whatsoever. In the documentary, I have a feeling it's going to show a lot of that, um which sucks. but Maybe you'll be in it. I really, really hope not ah because I was exhausted that day and limping around.
Speaker: How has this never been your profile picture on Facebook? I've had it on there a few times, but yeah. ah Yeah, it's going to be hard watch, but I'm going to watch it because it was it was a weird time.
Speaker: Stanley, I remember at the time, was doing a lot of appearances. and that In that show, he actually did an hour-long Q&A at the end of the night, which he seemed like he was he was with it. He seemed like he was he was had all of his functions.
Speaker: He was still quick wit, so ah yeah, I'm interested to see that. Hopefully it gets picked up. I'm not even sure where it's coming out. I just know it's coming out. Because they're shopping for a distributor right now. Oh, that's Kickstarter. That's right. I forgot. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, that's what it was. So it might not even come out, but think with all the attention it's gotten over the last week, I think somebody's easily going to pay for it. And a lot of a lot of creators, a lot of friends of Stan Lee, and and he had an assistant.
Speaker: Another young assistant who's talked about how bad this guy was behind the scenes. He's actually the one that brought this to light a few years ago, right? A couple years after he died. Yeah. Well, remember, um <unk>re still alive, Karen Smith heard about it and offered Stan Lee like to live the house and stuff.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah that was That was a big deal back then. um Apple TV. Well, not Apple TV. Vision Plus, for Vision Pro, whatever the hell it is. theyre i The AI but goggles or VR goggles, whatever.
Speaker: um They have an exclusive concert of Metallica. ah Started today, but if you don't have $3,500 to buy this thing, you're not seeing it. Which, neither one of us have these things. I don't even know anybody who owns a pair of these.
Speaker: um Right. but But, yeah, I would love to see it. Yeah, these are the overpriced bullshits. Yes, yeah. ah they're not consumer They're not good for consumers. They're good for the rich people, but...
Speaker: Um, but so I guess they filmed it with a bunch of cameras. It's very immersive. So, um, it'd be interesting to see. I wonder if there's, I think they do have demos at the Apple store. It'd be cool to see. Um, I got a new trailer for Lilo and stitch the live action. I never saw the animated version, so I i couldn't give you an opinion on what it, what it would be, uh, what it would be, but it did look funny. I mean, it's, it's a, it's a good kids movie. I think it's going to do huge for more weekend.
Speaker: Um, Another trailer for another movie all about John and Yoko called One to One. I did not hear about this until this week. um It reminded me a lot of the Get Back documentary. There's some stuff in this that ah but I think there's a whole concert of John Lennon um with Yoko who performs a lot of his greatest hits in the 70s.
Speaker: um It's all remastered in HD. It comes out on April 18th and it's going be on IMAX as well. It does look really, really good. um A brand new movie, I have never heard of it until this week again, the Life of Chuck, ah starring Chia Torre Ejiofor, Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillian, Matthew Lillard, Mark Hamill.
Speaker: kaie Kate sear Siegel. This is ah based off a short story by Stephen King. ah Written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who I had no idea who he was six months ago. Now I love him. So yeah, very excited about it. I've liked Mike Flanagan for a while.
Speaker: ah Starring Tom Hiddleston as the main character. Yeah, very interesting. Some sort of a sci-fi thing with a Stephen King twist. um Also got a teaser for Spinal Tap 2, The End Continues.
Speaker: Coming out on September 12th. They're also going to be re-releasing the on the 41st anniversary of This Is Spinal Tap. Coming out sometime this summer. So, yeah, very excited for that.
Speaker: um Box Office last weekend. mix Mickey 17 won with $19.1 million. ah Captain America Brave New World, $8 million. And last breath, I don't know what that is, for $4.2 million.
Speaker: um People saying that Mickey's 17 was a failure. Budget was $118 million. Probably going to get that all back in digital sales, I'm sure, and and and distribution rights.
Speaker: ah But it's good movie. Decent. I liked it. and It was good in the theater. i just I don't think people are going to the theater right now. They know it's going on streaming in two weeks. Yeah, that's the way movie theaters are right now.
Speaker: Daredevil Born Again, speaking of ratings, debuted to 7.5 million views in the first five days on Disney+. Reacher Season 3 in the last two or three weeks has combined 54.6 million viewers for Amazon Prime in the first 19 days, which is huge.
Speaker: um People love this show. I don't know if women love him more men love him more. um I'm fucking in love with him. I want to see him in everything now. but um Yeah, shows great show. Yeah, it's not going away. what's they Once they finish up the books, they'll come up with a new story, probably.
Speaker: How many books are there? I'm not sure. this This season is based on the fourth book, I believe. Okay, question. I think it was books one, I think.
Speaker: what What is the the jack ro the Jack Reacher that Tom Cruise played? Are those based off the books, original stories? you know anything about that? um It's just that was the big criticism against those that Tom Cruise is 5'5 and Jack Reacher is supposed to be this huge gang individual and that just wasn't Tom Cruise.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. okay I think those are based off – I think it's based off the first book at least. How many did he have? Two? Okay. He had two movies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 2013 and 2016, I think. I'm going to have to check out just because.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. um Actually, I just bought them for $4.99 on iTunes. They're on sale this week. Check my Voodoo and see if they're they're on there. um Announced today on the New Heights podcast, with the Kelsey's podcast, um Jason Sinekos went on there and announced that they they are currently writing Season 4 of Ted Lasso.
Speaker: A lot of mixed feelings about that because Season 3 was a great ending to the show, however... I love this show. I do want to see it come back. So I'm kind of excited to see where they go. It's going to be tackling a women's team.
Speaker: And the first couple episodes are him in America and then going back over to Manchester, or not Manchester, wherever they are, Richmond, to coach this women's team. So very exciting. Yeah, I think it's going to be the women's equivalent of...
Speaker: The other team, it was just the women's side, which is what happened in that show with Rob McElhaney. They were, they showed a lot of the, because they own both the women's and and the men's team. So they go right.
Speaker: Hannah Waddington, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, all have ah options to return. um Jamie Tark, the guy, can't remember his name in real life. um I don't think he has an option to return. So they want him back. They're going money.
Speaker: Um, but yeah, that, that show, I cannot wait to see where it goes. Um, last week, a fan dressed up as Wile Coyote in front of the WV lot, um, and he had a sign saying, release me.
Speaker: This movie, I can, I still cannot believe that it is, it is on the back burner and will never come out. It's in a vault somewhere. um because of a tax write-off. It's insane. and and people Especially if the rumors are true and everybody says this is one of the funniest movies, one of the funniest comedies that's ever that's ever been out.
Speaker: It's so funny. um Everybody that's in it, everybody that's seen seen the screening of it said it's awesome. um And how they could just get rid of it like that is ridiculous. Maybe they just didn't have faith in in the property anymore. I don't know.
Speaker: But yeah. um So, John Cena coming to Raw next week to confront the situation. Well, he's gone full heel because he's covered up the bald spot. Dun, dun, dun. We called it.
Speaker: call We did call it. don't know we called it on the podcast, but we definitely called it, ah or at least I did, we did when he turned heel. Yeah, we definite we definitely talked about it. He'd either shave his head...
Speaker: Or go ball, or cover up the ball spot or something that looks like they've covered it up. So it'll be on Raw on Monday to talk about what he did at an Elimination Chamber last week, so that'll be exciting.
Speaker: um Got a new poster for Karate Kid Legends, Ralph Macchio and the kid who's playing the Karate Kid in that movie, um coming out May 30th. ah Got some new character posters for Sinners. ah this looks These look really, really cool. The trailer the last trailer looked really good. This comes out on April eighteenth I'm very excited to see that when it comes out.
Speaker: um lots of extra casting news this week. um Starting off with Rose Byrne, who's been a whole bunch of comedies and dramas. ah She was in the X-Men series, the prequels.
Speaker: um Megan Faye, I don't know who that is, but she's the one on the right top. um Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family, great in that. um David Dismalchian, who we talk about all the time. He's a great actor in a lot of stuff. Great character actor.
Speaker: and Also confirmed as a cameo, John Lithgow, who was that picture I'm going to be using for the rest of my life when I talk about John Lithgow. He made a statement saying, I just went back to do a day. They're rebooting the entire Michael C. Hall version of Dexter, and it turns out he didn't die after all.
Speaker: I come back sort of as a phantom as he gradually comes to life at in a hospital bed. ah Yeah, that's cool. um I'm excited to hear that. I do love that. I know they're going be making a prequel series. I'm not sure of his involvement because he's going to be Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series, but it'll be interesting to see. i I thought I heard he was doing the voiceover in that, but I'm not sure.
Speaker: um Scream 7 had a couple of casting news as well. Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro, who played the young Bert Kreischer. the young betryscher in a Burt Kreischer movie that came um the Machine. Yeah, these zoom they're going to join the cast of Screen 7, new characters.
Speaker: um Glenn Powell is going to star in Barry Jenkins' next movie, The Natural Order. um It's going to be based off an upcoming novel. It's an elevated sci-fi thriller revolving around the pursuit of eternal life.
Speaker: um Glenn Powell is in everything. So I want to bring that up. um Daniel raff la Radcliffe is going to be joining Tracy Morgan in this m NBC pilot um from the 30 Rock team that we talked about last week.
Speaker: uh yeah can't wait to see that um daniel craigson talks to star in the nardia movie i don't know who he's gonna be playing i don't think he's go playing aslan um i heard he could be playing the uh the kid's caretaker or uh foster parent or or whatever whatever you want to call him back then but um yeah we'll see about that uh jeff goldblum cast as jeff daniel's father in uh in uh shrinking and sorry jeff wow jeff daniels cast as jason siegel's father in shrinking i know said goldblum Yes.
Speaker: Yeah. ah That's exciting casting. yeah ah Great trailer last week for The Last of Us. I got a new poster for it. um i cannot wait for this. Just a few more weeks. Actually, about a month. This this came out a month yesterday it was um with a cat month countdown ah coming out max.
Speaker: um The trailer had over 158 million views just in this last few days. ah Yeah, it's very exciting. um Netflix is remaking Stephen King's Cujo. Never saw it.
Speaker: um I don't know what your thoughts about it. I know it's about a dog, right? horror A horror movie about a dog, rabbit dog. Yeah. Roy Lee, who did Barbarian, is produce the reboot. i Yeah.
Speaker: um Also, and ah Amazon MGM is developing a movie about Tiger Woods. um Barack Obama's company Higher Ground talks to produce it. um King Richard's filmmaker as ah Ronaldo Marcus Green is attached to direct.
Speaker: um Okay, I'm um all for sports documentary. I don't know. i don't know much about ah golf besides that one game that was on the GameCube that was really good.
Speaker: um Oasis is coming out with a new documentary. They're going to filming it during their summer reunion tour this year, if they even make it. I think that's why they're filming it, because it could have a blowout.
Speaker: It's directed by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight. So, yeah, cool. um Jack Quaid went full method acting. um He was on the court of a Clippers game, i believe, and he was all dressed up like he was beaten up from the Novocaine. It just came out Novocaine movie. It came out today.
Speaker: um Yeah, I cannot wait to see it getting high high high reviews. so um Today we got the first look at of Peter Dinklage as the Toxic Adventure. We also got the first poster.
Speaker: um No trailer yet, but we did get the first poster. um Toxic Avenger, I remember in the 80s. I remember there was a cheesy movie back then. don't even remember if I've seen it. Yeah, it was B-character. Yeah, a very B-movie character. I back in the day.
Speaker: yeah um Got some new spy shots from the Odyssey currently filming. We got Christopher Nolan and Tom Holland on set on a boat. And we also got Jon Bernthal with a shaved head at ah but and some sort of behind the scenes with Tom Holland meeting people.
Speaker: um Yeah, very excited for that movie. The cast is crazy. um The next gen Xbox reportedly set for 2027. And a handheld Xbox is is supposed to come out later this year in 2025.
Speaker: See, I'll wait and see on that. um Remember couple months ago we talked about Watto. R.A.P. Wado. This week it was announced that that was all that was all fake.
Speaker: Wado is still alive. um this was't This was in promotion to this comic book which just came out. That's the whole reason in that picture on the left was in this comic book. They released it two months ahead of time to get the hype for the comic book.
Speaker: And come to find out it was all just Kylo Ren's imagination, his assumption of what happened if Darth Vader had killed Wado. but it was not Darth Vader. So yeah, that's weird. Weird storytelling.
Speaker: um Speaking of Star Wars, George Lucas had 60 scripts ready for the Star Wars series that would have cost $40 million dollars per episode. um And that was right before Disney bought Lucasfilm, and of course that got cut right right after they bought it.
Speaker: It was going to be called Underworld. um is It was one of the last thing he worked one of the last things he worked on. There was some kind concept art that's come out since then, but ah yeah. ah We got some swag.
Speaker: Swag. Stuff we all get. Come on, son. You know that's right. got some new popcorn buckets we got from Snow White. And we got for Minecraft, I believe once from the Minecraft ones for Cinemark and AMC are the Snow White ones. got the popcorn coal carts, different colors. we got some cups. And for the Minecraft, we got the TNT Bucket.
Speaker: we got the We got a couple of mugs there, monsters, whole bunch of shit. um What else do we have for this? A brand new Lego set Mario Kart with Mario's standard kart.
Speaker: um And we also got another Lego set for Lord of the Rings Hobbiton. um This is not official yet. This has kind of been a spy shot.
Speaker: that somebody found very exciting. Also, if you love The Office, ah they're coming out with a McFarlane, The Office, Kevin Malone figure with a chili. And spoilers for the next couple of weeks.
Speaker: There are going to be pop figures for Psyche. um No official pictures of these yet. They're going to on sale next Friday, I believe, on Amazon. Come on, son. Entertainment Earth. These are going to be pre-ordered for on both of our behalf next week, and we'll talk about it.
Speaker: is That's awesome. ah Getting into the DC News of the Week. We get the first picture of the engineer and James Gunn's Superman, Maria gar Gabriela, the Pharaoh, however you say her name.
Speaker: um And also ah joining the cast of Lanterns is... Jason Ritter, son of John Ritter. Don't know who he's playing. Have you heard any rumors today who who he could be playing? because Honestly, looking at him, he looks like Kyle Raynar.
Speaker: But I think they're using Kyle in this series, so I have no idea. Okay. If you look up a picture of Kyle, like that's literally who he looks like. like He'd easily be playing Kyle. Interesting. Anyway, yeah. um also announced that Warner Brothers are going to be at CinemaCon.
Speaker: Their panel was announced for April 1st, April Fool's Day, for 4.30 to 6.30, talking about the whole entire slate of Warner Brothers, including Superman um and everything that's coming out for Warner Brothers this year.
Speaker: um And I believe that the main cast is going to be there with James Gunn, Corn Sweat, Brosnahan, and Holt, so. Um, yeah, very exciting for that. And, uh, this week they had a behind the scenes. do you know anything about this studio thing that, uh, Saffron and, uh, James Gunn had, had a picture of him there and they also had a cake that was made by Duff Goldman. it was just a, uh, it looked like it was just a, uh,
Speaker: Them talking to the DC studio heads i or the okay investors, I don't know. That's literally all we know about is that they had some sort of thing. I mean, they probably should be doing something like this in front of fans.
Speaker: Right. But that's what haven't kicked off their marketing yet. Yeah. like It's weird if they don't go to... I know it's going after the movie comes up i it's going to be weird if they don't go to CinemaCon. Right.
Speaker: Like, real weird. Which is the rumor now they won't be at CinemaCon. Not CinemaCon. They're going to at CinemaCon. Comic-Con. Comic-Con, yeah, yeah, yeah. It'd be real weird if they weren't at Comic-Con, but that is after the movie comes out. But you would think that... i think that we're going to get some stuff for Supergirl and Superman at CinemaCon, I would hope.
Speaker: Right. Yeah, they skipped out last year, too. i think the fandom that they had during the pandemic really really let them know, like, yeah, we can probably handle this ourself and release this stuff and get the views for our own socials and for our own websites.
Speaker: um Speaking of Superman... got new stuff showing up for in stores. a brand new ah promo picture of Corn Sweat and Superman. and the so And the backpack, which you mentioned, has the muscles and the group.
Speaker: um The Snyder group was probably going to attack it and you did say that they did. um like Like, yeah, like an hour after I sent you, I'm like, I can't wait for them to attack this for having muscles on the backpack.
Speaker: yeah um And, of course, people the same group, say, about how Superman is Photoshopped in this. It's like, yeah, any promotional material is going to be Photoshopped somewhat.
Speaker: They're all airbrushed. And then, of course, you show, you like, Henry Cavill Photoshopped, and they're like, that's not Photoshopped. And it's like, yeah, it is. They touch up all the artwork on that shit. Of course they do. they take the They take the wrinkles out. They do everything.
Speaker: um yeah Superman Day officially kicking off on April 18th. um And I have a feeling we're probably going to get a trailer on that day. We'll have to wait and see. but um And finally in news, kind of a short day because we just recorded on last Sunday, but um in Marvel news this week, Sadie Sink, who is in Stranger Things from season two on, um she was kind of the outsider who came into the group with all the other kids and and became their friend. She is fucking fantastic in The Whale.
Speaker: Yeah, I heard that. She's on show in that movie. I heard that. She is great. Well, she's joined the MCU in Spider-Man 4. No idea who she's playing. A lot of speculation who because she could be playing. Obviously. From the the original... theres There's two. I mean, number one, she's got red hair.
Speaker: So the obvious one is... Mary Jane. Mary Jane. um But we already got an MJ, so how is that going to work? We're not sure. um The other rumor that's been around forever is that she could be playing, this has been around for months, that she could be playing Jean Grey for the X-Men reboot.
Speaker: If that's the case, she would be introduced in this movie? That doesn't make sense either. i don't That makes no sense because it's also a Sony movie. um To me, I hope she's basically, now we have the MJ character that's not actually MJ, I hope she's like um the Gwen Stacy character that's not really Gwen Stacy.
Speaker: ah they kind of put another name for her something like that I don't want to see Gwen Stacy again we've already seen her twice we saw in Spider-Man 3 she had no story um so that doesn't even count that's a cameo and we saw her in The Amazing Spider-Man and of people didn't like the way they did the story in The Amazing Spider-Man so as I thought it was fine but somebody that's a Gwen Stacy character being his love interest that's not really Gwen Stacy, just like MJ really isn't MJ.
Speaker: The other rumor is Black Cat. i mean, there's so many female characters. Silk, there's a whole bunch of characters from Spider-Man they could bring into this... um God, they could bring in Spider-Gwen. If they wanted to go... so If they wanted to do Gwen Stacy, I wouldn't mind seeing her as Spider-Gwen.
Speaker: Although... you couldn't You couldn't do Hayley Atwell. Not Hayley Atwell. What's her name who plays ah Hawkeye? um can't remember she's already in the MCU. She does the voice in the and the Spider-Verse movies.
Speaker: um I can't you don't remember. Harry Steinfeld? Yeah, Harry Steinfeld. i shock all yeah yeah she would be she would be great if they brought her in live action to play Spider-Gwen but no I don't know who knows what what this casting is going to lead to um they're keeping it under wraps which is good I have noticed that Marvel is starting to learn their lesson um and they're keeping a lot of their stuff they did for Endgame and and secret wars i mean that Infinity War for some reason that whole entire movie was a secret before we saw it in theaters
Speaker: um They're starting to rein in a lot of that stuff. I think they learned a lot from Deadpool and Wolverine when all of that movie leaked out oh yeah ah year ahead of time. um so they're They're currently getting the production on that up and running, and they're probably doing the same for Spider-Man 4 to keep that under wraps as well and keep the spy shots out of there, which would be good.

Speaker: But it's a good comic. I'm enjoying it. Yeah, I hear it's really good. It's a great so just Justice League versus Legion of Doom story. It's a great, yeah great yeah unique story.
Speaker: um We also have to jump in next week next next month when you get back to the Fantastic Four. We're going to get into intros to the character and talk about robert Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie.
Speaker: um I'd like to review the Fantastic Four Galactus trilogy next month as well, and we'll figure out a comic book for Superman that month. And then we also, next month it's gonna be great because we'll have a ah watch for Superman 2 comparing the Donner cut and Superman, probably Superman 3, unfortunately, with with Richard Pryor.
