Catch Up & Winter Challenges

00:01:25
Speaker
Hey, what's going on? Good evening, Raymond. How are we doing? Good. Doing good. That's good. That is good. Not a long week or something. Not they really. Well, there's some big things to talk about. Looking at the week ahead, and we are in the middle of winter and I am in the winter crush of snow, especially in the next week, which is not exciting, but no.
00:01:52
Speaker
It's all all part of living in the Northeast, I guess. I suppose.

Royal Rumble Event Changes

00:01:57
Speaker
Did watch quite a bit this week. We're going to start off, we watched the Royal Rumble last weekend.
00:02:04
Speaker
It was actually last Saturday. I don't know. What are your feelings on the paper beauty paper views being on Saturdays now instead of Sundays? I like them a lot. I like it a lot. It's weird because we did grow up with it on a Sunday schedule, but I think Saturday they honestly makes the most sense because especially back in the day, like people have jobs. like They had to get up in the morning and they used to run till 11 p.m. Now they're on Saturday nights and this picture's over by 10.
00:02:27
Speaker
I still had like an entire Saturday night to myself after this event, essentially. I can feel it's time to watch a movie before bed. The only difference is if there's a water cooler moment, it's a day behind and maybe it yeah could get lost in translation. But with today, today it's much different because it is a water cooler moment. I'm going to text you. yeah I'm going to all different i'm go to text from HR.
00:02:50
Speaker
you know but i remember I remember, this is before I was watching wrestling, I remember you and Dusty, I don't remember who else was in the middle of the in the morning, Monday morning after WrestleMania 14 in Boston. um It was a big deal because Austin had just won the title and I remember you guys were talking poetically about that night and it's kind of where I got my first inkling in my head.

Royal Rumble Highlights & Rising Stars

00:03:14
Speaker
Maybe I should be watching this shit.
00:03:17
Speaker
But yeah, um Royal Rumble came down without a hitch. There's only four matches throughout the night. Two main matches and then the two Royal Rumble matches, the women's and the men's. um now Women woman started it off. Was yes okay.
00:03:33
Speaker
it was yeah not great in fact it was so not great that i didn't see a single goddam second of it i was watching yes ski the first you skip the first hour you skipped the first hour i told you when it was over yeah um Overall, the Men's Royal Rumble had a lot of cool surprises.
00:03:49
Speaker
A lot of cool spots. Big fan of that Joe Henry guy. Yeah. awesome I've been doing nothing but looking up his clips on YouTube all week. As soon as it was over, I went to Twitter and followed him. um That guy's awesome. I like him a lot. Yeah, he's a superstar, I hope. yeah he Yeah, the whole reason I think that Triple H has a deal with TNA now is because they want Joe Henry to be a huge part of NXT. He's been on that NXT a bunch of times. Yeah, he has. He put out a single of his theme song.
00:04:19
Speaker
Yes, and it jumped up to number one in the UK and I think it was like number three here on iTunes Yeah, because it's just it's just one of those the whole theme song. It's all entrance is just amazing It's all all homegrown all on his own no TNA input into it whatsoever the video everything was him um But yeah, he was a job in the
00:04:44
Speaker
Yeah, he shared a clip on you on his Twitter of him singing in the middle of the TNA ring and the entire crowd being into. Oh, my God. That dude is just he's over it like he's over. He's like a better version of what's his name that played the guitar for like a few years back. Oh, why? Yeah. Yeah. Much better. Much better. He was much better. Urgent, much over version doesn't have a size, but he's a much better version.
00:05:10
Speaker
the songs that he comes up with, like when he disses his opponents, he did it he did a a couple to the Hardy, he's not not not the Hardy Boys, he did one to What's His Name, there's a whole bunch of people in TNA still, but um yeah he's he's definitely, and he's obviously their champion for a reason, going into Royal Rumble. um The big rumor that he was gonna show up, he did end up showing up.
00:05:31
Speaker
um Overall lots of cool surprises including that one the brawn hitting speed The brawn breaker that took a by that one viral because it was just brutal the way he hit him um There's no faking that it makes sense as to why they had show speed do that spot so fucking fast so fucking fast yeah and then i think you you didn't you send me the video of his uh college in college yeah i said running across the field oh my god dude's a monster
00:06:05
Speaker
He's son of Rick Steiner. Son of Rick Steiner. Scott's son has a deal with them through NIL also right now who's still in college. Yeah, but definitely Braun is one of those guys you gotta keep an eye on in the next few years. Oh my god, he's so much fun to play in the games.
00:06:22
Speaker
he reminds me a lot He reminds me a lot of the early days when I was doing that watch, the double WWF watch. He reminds me of the early Steiner days when Steiner's were really fast before Scott Steiner took the steroids heavily and became Big Papa Pump. It's basically Scott Steiner pre-steroids. Yeah, that's exactly what he is. Yeah, for sure. So fast. So it's so incredible. Hits hard.
00:06:46
Speaker
um Yeah, great great show. I mean the Andy and Cena CM Punk um and and Raw and Rollins and Roman Reigns. It was it was a huge great ending. It's kind of gonna be the Catapult or whatever we get in at WrestleMania, but John Cena didn't win CM Punk didn't win. No Jey Uso 1, who has been probably in the WWF, besides CM Punk, he's the most over person with crowd reaction as far as... He's got the most, his crowd reaction is pretty much what Bryan Danielson had or Daniel Bryan with the S stuff as far as interactivity and whatnot.
00:07:32
Speaker
And he's got a saying, he's got the yeet. That's on t-shirts now. So of course, that they had to roll the dice on that. Understandably, um I still have a feeling that CM Punk is going to play a huge part in the main event as well as John Cena. John Cena's last WrestleMania, I have a feeling he's either going to be a part of a match or co-main event like they do. Because I mean, it's two nights WrestleMania, Saturday and Sunday, few in have probably about eight weeks from now. I wonder and wonder what's going to happen at Chamber. That's really the question.
00:08:01
Speaker
Well, we know John Cena's in it. Yep. Well, they give Justin to the belt. I doubt it. He'll probably come in second. He'll lose. All right. Surviving till the end is what my guess is. And they're going to chase it and he's either going to win it in his last match or not in his last match and leave one way or

Championship Speculations & Rumors

00:08:16
Speaker
the other. Yeah, he's he's going to sometime this year. He's going to get number 17. He's going to beat Ric Flair's record. Probably because Ric Flair had the most championships and that includes WCW, WF includes all the champions, 17 time champion.
00:08:29
Speaker
John Cena's gonna try to become. um I think a better time to do that would be the middle of the year, SummerSlam. I don't know where SummerSlam is this year. um I know they're going overseas a lot for the PLEs, whatever they are now. Yeah. I just like them and just don't see him, I don't know, even though I said it earlier, I just don't see him like winning the title and having a long run and then leaving with the title, like retiring with the title. i just Unless they want to reset everything once he leaves. That's the other thing they could be playing and do.
00:09:00
Speaker
um the other thing But because guys always lose on their way out. That's like a thing. yeah so The other thing we got to keep an eye on is Cody Rhodes. Champion currently, but they're setting him up to be, and if they want to do it, the Homelander of the WWF. If he takes this gimmick and goes evil, he's going to be like Homelander.
00:09:22
Speaker
Yeah, and that'll be amazing. He did that in the Indies right before he AW AW is kind of a mix of heel and face but if you went full if you went full heel right now because WWE doesn't really have a good decent heel right now um Not with the personality not with the personality Rowan's face Gunther's great. Yeah He's like Hilo, right? But he just doesn't have the personality. So I mean he's this guy that just doesn't Do anything like he's so bad. He's a manager Yeah, I think I think Cody would do amazing as a heel in this company right now. It's kind of what they need but um no, no idea what's going on with the rock the rumors were that he's gonna be facing rains maybe but I He always pulls out a WrestleMania. I don't know if the money is not there. and He's he has a huge part in the w WWE now He's actually a board member. and He's got stocks. Yeah, he's an owner. He's an owner of the company He's like oh eight percent of the company um and he's also I think he's still filming that brother with the Saki brother movie. Okay but have Whatever wrestling machine whatever it is um So they could bring him out at the chamber if they have to promote the rumble and promote WrestleMania
00:10:41
Speaker
i Have no idea either. Yeah.

Grammy Performances & Super Bowl

00:10:43
Speaker
Yeah, we'll have to we'll have to keep an eye on this We'll be talking about this in a couple months when I mean in next week next month We're gonna be talking about wrestling a lot because dark side of the ring comes back. So we're gonna talk about that weekly I Watched the Grammys just because of the performances. I was hearing a lot about them um Today's hip-hop not a fan. I don't like mumble rap. I don't like it It it's not for me not for a lot of people especially they grew up in our generation um I actually like to hear the words of my reps. So I lean more towards the older stuff. Lately I've been listening to a lot of the classic stuff. Catching up on stuff I miss growing up. Stuff that just older rock, older older pop, everything.
00:11:27
Speaker
um This is the first year watching the Grammys that I actually liked some of the pop music and some of the pop artists. um Benson Moon, I don't know if you've seen any of these performances that and run ran into any of these videos or anything. Some of them have gone viral. Benson Moon is a, was an American Idol contestant, ended up ended up leaving the show. i don't think I think he quit the show.
00:11:51
Speaker
and took it all on on his own and became a pop artist. Pop rock, I guess. I don't know what it would be considered, but country, maybe. um He had a great great rock presence on that stage as a superstar um And he did um he did a he did a flip off of piano like ah like a backflip It looked pretty cool, but um he was good Teddy swims one of my favorite vocals right now um He's got a very soulful old style vocal tattooed up big big guy um saying so much better than
00:12:24
Speaker
A lot of those tattooed guys like Post Malone and and Jelly Roll, he's he's on a whole other level, like a soulful level. and I really liked his performance and like like I like that song, Lose Control. Chaperone. She is Lady Gaga, what Lady Gaga was 15 years ago, but I think I like Chaperone a little bit more.
00:12:44
Speaker
um She did a great performance, and I like that song that she does, Pink pink Pony Club. um And they did a great tribute to Quincy Jones. um Will Smith came out. I don't remember what show he slapped Chris Rock at, but this is one of the first times he's come back on an awards show and been invited. He was friends with Quincy. Two years ago at the Oscars. All Oscars, okay. He was friends with Quincy.
00:13:07
Speaker
um Of course, Quincy produced Fresh Prince of Bel Air. And so he he he started the whole thing. Herbie Hancock did the piano at one point. Cynthia Raveau came on, sang Sinatra's song, because Quincy Jonah worked with Sinatra. And then Stephen Wonder came on, did a little song, because he worked with him. And then Janelle Monae, pop singer, came out and did ah don't stop to or One of the songs from ah Michael Jackson. I think it was Don't Stop Till You Get Enough.
00:13:37
Speaker
um And it did an amazing job with that it was a really good good tribute The other thing this whole entire like the performances on this I don't remember I'm ever running this long some of these performances had to have been 10 minutes um They did a whole like new artists section of the show that we had to have been 20 minutes long really played every single artist back to back to back in the new artist category, but I was actually surprised. I actually liked some of these performances. And the big thing about the Grammys last weekend was Kendrick Lamar won for a diss song. That's the year. That was huge. And of course, he's going to be doing the Super Bowl this week. We'll talk about that next week when we when we review of the Super Bowl and everything about that. I'm still with us. Yes, if you're still here. Yes, the Chiefs win. I swear to God, things might get broken.
00:14:24
Speaker
Going for a 3P, right? Going for a 3P, maybe. With Eagles, I don't know anything about it. We'll talk about it next week. And the highlights and and the lowlights.

TV Show Insights: Paradise & Dexter

00:14:36
Speaker
Paradise, I mentioned it last week. I wanted to get into the first episode because I hear there's this cool twist.
00:14:41
Speaker
And there is. There's a very cool twist. I mentioned last week there's a sci-fi element to this. There is kind of a futuristic type of thing. I don't want to get into it. I don't want to spoil anything. um But it is set in a futuristic world. That something could happen to the United States and something in this world does happen. um James Marsden plays the president. um Sterling K. Brown or whatever his name is. Or what's, is that his name? Is that who I'm thinking of? Sterling K. Brown, yep.
00:15:10
Speaker
ah He plays his um Secret Service agent that protects him. And in the trailers you already know that James Marsden gets killed in the first episode. And I'm not giving giving any else anything else away from that.
00:15:25
Speaker
But uh, I'm wondering if Julianne Nicholson, I'm wondering if that is um Jack Nicholson's daughter. I just thought of that because I saw her name um But yes, she is part of the show those three. Those are the three means there. It's on Hulu There's four episodes comes out weekly a very good show though um There's a there's a mystery to this show where but that we have to figure out and weekly trying to figure that out so Um, I just finished within five minutes before I jumped on here today. I just finished today's episode of Dexter. Yes. Um, the penultimate episode, episode nine. yeah um and Great, great ending. Dexter's on the hunt. Um, we also find a lot more information about Brian Moser. This is why when I texted you, the showrunner confirmed that it was Brian Moser outside of the, which they show in this episode. and That's why he probably had to confirm it this week. Right. in this episode
00:16:21
Speaker
He was also, because everyone assumed it was him at the restaurant, which I did when I first saw it, you did what when you first saw it. But he was actually outside of the crime scenes that Dexter was investigating, watching over his own crime scenes. And that was confirmed. That was confirmed today. And of course, opening scene of this episode is him playing Bingo with some lady and he introduces himself as Brian.
00:16:40
Speaker
Did I ever tell you about the time we were in Florida? It was the last night that we were in Florida before we moved up here because I lived down there for three years and we bamboozled a whole bunch of old people and they were pissed because we kept winning bingo because that's their life down there. Oh, yeah, sure.
00:16:56
Speaker
and We in my ex and I and we would go up to the table get our winnings. I remember what the fuck we won This is like 20 years ago, but we go up there and the old people would be staring daggers at us because it's our life They go there weekly to try to win bingo and we were winning and they were pissed at us But yeah um yeah, that's their life down there. Bingo. and they And then it did play a part in this. Brian Moser, if you don't remember, he is Dexter's brother in the original series. um Dexter had a brother and he was Ice Truck Killer in the first season.
00:17:26
Speaker
And they are going further into into his backstory in this show than I thought they would. um Because he kind of did a good job telling that story in that first season of of how Dexter and him sat got separated. But they are filling the blanks a lot in this series. um There's a cover-up, we know that. We know that Harry eventually covered up Brian in the yeah in the files of the the Miami Metro Police Department.
00:17:51
Speaker
um And we also find out why they're in the flashback in the original series Harry is dressed as a police officer and then this show he's been a detective the whole entire time um When he opens up the container to find Dexter and Brian covered in blood He's dressed in the full police uniform police hat the badge and everything It's because he was being reprimanded for having an affair with Dexter's mother Yes And he was brought down into the uni the units Um, which I thought was a cool touch because that was, that's of course a memorable scene in the first series where, where Harry goes into the container to save Dexter. And that was replayed in the same shot. Yep. Yep. Same shot for shot remake in this episode. Um, and having to hunt him down with his partner and they ended up opening up the container and and say, he grabs Dexter and his partner grabs Brian. You see the family dynamic, they bring Brian home. They were going to adopt both of them, but Brian.
00:18:49
Speaker
is a fucking psychopath ends up trying to kill Deb with a pillow over her head because she was crying in the crib. Um, yeah. Yeah. And then they had to, they had to send Brian off because they couldn't handle him. He needed more help and they could, then they could handle. So, um, they ended up getting, he ended up getting rid of them. And he had ever since the one thing that's still bothering me about this show, I think you're going to guess it.
00:19:14
Speaker
or the fuck is matthews all right so i don't know what i stopped it for i did not use five outside of a few episodes i'd just was on the background it was there at the shipping dinner when it actually was picked up by his dad he was there with extra start killing but he's been around so Is he just like another cop and he's just not that friendly with his father yet? like Because it seems like they're pretty much chumps in the original show when Dexter right picked up by his dad. right That's the one thing about the show that's pissing me off. Other than that, I think it's fantastic. It's like a nine out of 10. It's one of the better seasons of Dexter to me. um And also this episode where he has the detective Matthew, not detective Matthews.
00:19:54
Speaker
stamp on but yes Patrick on the table and he's doing that thing pointing to his forehead like classic Dexter. yeah like The kid has all the manures, his voice is really off but everything else about it is a great performance. His voice is off but you hear his voice in real life in his Scottish accent and going into that accent is amazing when he does that.
00:20:13
Speaker
yes and i mean his voice is also off because i mean he obviously would sound a little bit different when he's 35 versus 28 right um so that would also go into it as well um yeah but i just need to know where matthews is that's just my one question i have i mean i have a huge feeling that we're gonna know by next week my theory at first was that this guy was gonna get caught and then he would be brought in the last episode or that um Harry's partner who was shot in the last episode would die and be replaced with Matthews and then Be with him when he takes texture at the shipping container, but that got Bobby lived. So Right. I have no idea. What's your theory? I think next week. We'll know I think what's gonna happen Patrick Dempsey Of course at the end of this episode leaves off with Dexter chasing Patrick Dempsey to go find his son that he's that he's kidnapped Yes, you had a chance to kill him but in order to save his son and I was like it's a very undexular like thing to do to kill him before finding where the Sun is right and so i was glad that youd like let him go
00:21:09
Speaker
but let him go that's to change something like ah ah sounds like a terrible plan because if he just went and was like hey all right harry' son just had me tied up with a knife tomorrow like no one's goingnna believe him it's not like dexter had recording equipment on abe in ninety ninety one Right. No, but the plan was to let him go so we could follow him to where his son's whereabouts and kill him eventually. But which we'll see next week. And the son somehow notices the dad. I wonder, is that because he's feeding him the Lunchables or what? No, I think there's something that happened a couple of episodes ago where he's talked. I think he talked to him or he said something. He heard his voice. I think that's what it was. Okay, but yeah great show and we got a clip I got a little quick glimpse of Dexter resurrection currently filming in New York And we got Harry and Dexter driving through New York City So very excited for the show and by the way, you've mentioned it to me off pod, but they are doing a lot of
00:22:03
Speaker
of recruiting for cast members site for for cast members of this show. Yep. And what was what was the one this week looking for disabled disabled people with disabilities? Yes. I wonder if he's actually gonna kill somebody with a disability. Oh, man. Throw somebody a wheelchair off a off a ramp.
00:22:23
Speaker
I mean, you I can see that like say somebody killed somebody right and the process got sad in the back and they're in a wheelchair now for the rest of their life. Right. Yeah. The murder somehow or whatever, you know. But um yeah, I can't wait for resurrection. This should have been very good, though. I'm actually very surprised at how much I like it. Even though like I tell people like even Bad Dexter to me is still watchable. I still enjoy. I like I like watching it. I didn't have it when I watched the whole thing through last last this year, actually.
00:22:53
Speaker
Um, I had no problems with anything. The only thing I had is the issue was the ending. But then when you get into New Blood, which I can understand, if you had watched, if you watched the original series of Dexter and you had that ending with a fucking hurricane, yeah I would have been pissed too. But then Dexter New Blood changed all that and I think it made it made it for the better.
00:23:12
Speaker
and um having him escape. The other thing too about the original is like, you didn't, I think this happens with people when they watch Game of Thrones now for the first time, is they're like, I don't see why people have an issue with it. It's because you didn't wait a year to a year and a half between seasons to see that downfall happen you are invested year after year after year.
00:23:29
Speaker
Which I didn't either which also could be why because I was just pretty much pissed about how it the whole thing ended and I really didn't care for much season 8 But then like literally like a year after I watched the show for the first time or two years Somewhere in there like they announced that new blood was coming and I was like, okay This would be cool. I've been watching it week to week is so much fun. I love watching this shit week to week.
00:23:51
Speaker
There was one episode of the last season of Game of Thrones that was so dark that unless you had an old e TV, you couldn't pick out what was going on in the dark in the corner. It was a whole entire episode. And it was an important one too. I think it was the one where that was watcher style it was the one where the night The Night King. um The Night King, yeah. I was watching on my mother's life.
00:24:09
Speaker
tv and i didn't have a problem with it but then i saw everyone complaining about online i like hu but they fixed in the Brand of Tarth has a fucking brings water bottle mixture in the the way it aired um So yeah, this might be why Robert Eggers says he doesn't allow cell phones on right? We'll never sure a movie that involves vehicles Right. Yeah um Have you had a chance to watch Dark Side of the kids you catch up on it this week?
00:24:50
Speaker
i count up on a I just skipped two because the way I was watching didn't have it updated for a few days. So I ended up watching the Nick Diaz episode, okay which was fantastic. Was that last week? I think that was episode four.
00:25:08
Speaker
um okay Because one's about the ultimate fighter and the other one was about somebody else. um So yeah, that was ah that was excellent. um Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz are two of my favorite fighters. Nate Diaz sounds like he was born with CTE, his younger brother, but Nick Diaz is a good dude. um But yeah, theyre their that family has all sorts of issues. like with drugs and the law and stuff like that of course nitty as the one that connor fought a couple times um barely won once then got destroyed once um yeah great episode i'm liking this show a lot this just kind of it kind of feels like uh original syndomy to like
00:25:49
Speaker
compared to like getting back to resurrection. Like this is just like a nice appetizer before the wrestling ones come back on in March yeah or April. So I can't wait for those, but I think next week or this week is the pride one. And those are the two I'm most looking forward to because they have the rise of pride one week and the fall of fall. Yeah, I remember seeing that. yeah And so, so pride is the, the thing they had over in Japan with the it referees where people were throwing fights and shit like that. So I'm really looking forward to watching that.
00:26:16
Speaker
nice nice you know and I'm excited for the last episode so it probably leads up right to a dark side of the ring probably the week yes probably yep cool ah have you been watching friendly neighborhood spider-man at all you caught up on any of the episodes watch maybe the first one so I think I've watched three okay um I like this show I really do and I like is this is what I hoped what if would be Instead of doing one episode a quick episode talking about um a multiverse fuckery Having a whole entire series show. What if this had happened get a long-form story? Um, and this is a perfect way of doing it because we all know the origin of spider-man it was never told in the MCU but we've seen it multiple times and animation and in live action we've seen it so many times um but this is a great way to show kind of the Tom Holland version of spider-man MCU adjacent and what would happen if Norman Osborn was the one to find him that's basically what the whole story is about I think it's done doing a great job um three episodes aired this week um and we see a whole montage of spider-man trying on spider suits designed by Norman Osborn
00:27:25
Speaker
um Norman is trying to get him a so a super suit that he can help him fight crime with all kinds of tech, kind of like Tony Stark did, but giving him more options. And he finally find and runs into one that looks a lot like the Future Foundation, one that the Fantastic Four make him in the comic books, but it's it looks like it, but it's a little bit different. um and That's the one he chooses, it's like gray and black.
00:27:47
Speaker
um We see Otto Octavius before the tentacles. We see him being kind of like an arms dealer in this. um and He's trying to sell arms to two thugs in the city. um We see Mac Gargan who is a scorpion. We see him as a gang member of the scorpions before he becomes a scorpion. In the trailers we've seen him with the tail so he does get that eventually.
00:28:09
Speaker
um We saw Rhino. Well, wait a minute. It was a woman so they had to call her the unicorn um So they had the technology for that and the whole show is setting up two things setting up spider-man becoming a hero and Lonnie Lincoln who was a kid on the bus there in the middle if you're on YouTube Lonnie Lincoln who was gonna end up being a small-time spider-man villain called tombstone um Lonnie Lincoln is a kid. He's the star of the high school but football team um he ends up running into the wrong crowd joins a gang and Now he is working By the way, the big boss in this gang is big E from the WWE does the voice of him? um But he ends up getting the nickname tombstone um And in the comic books, I think it's a chemical reaction that turns his skin gray and super strong um He doesn't have that in this I think I also think he was
00:29:06
Speaker
What's it called albino right when you're when you're african-american your skin is why yeah, I think he's albino in the comic books, too um But yeah, this is the origin of him his story his downfall so you get the upfall The uphill climb spider-man in the downfall of Lonnie Lincoln, which we're gonna get by the end of the series um The girl in this too, Nico, is also part of the Runaways, if you've ever watched the Runaways show. um she's a She's a huge part of that. Was that ABC or Hulu? Yeah, one of the ABC family maybe. Yeah, I never saw it, but I remember it being somewhere. That was around the time they were trying to do that, and it just, I heard it was bad.
00:29:43
Speaker
Runaways is actually good um and Amadeus chose to debut in this as well um who plays a big part in the Young Avengers New Avengers run so um overall good show another three episodes next week and the week after two episodes for the finale so um Yeah, very good. And then after that leads right up to Daredevil born again, so um I have not been watching Netflix I just realized they probably should watch some of that this weekend at least daredevil at least daredevil season 3 I probably should get into before then um Have you been watching? Invincible as you I know just came out I'm actually catching up on season 2 right now it seems season 2 but I wanted to rewatch it before I started season 3 and Okay. Uh, I've heard the three episodes are excellent though. So this is a, this is a weekly thing on prime. Correct. Yep. They did. They dropped three, they dropped three of the first. So this week they dropped three um and then it's weekly for the next forever, five weeks.
00:30:38
Speaker
Cool, yeah, so a show I need to get into, everybody that I talk to says I need to watch this, so yeah I do. um Speaking of Prime, something I found, we talked about it last week, I found this documentary, and I told you about it, called Nintendo Story. um Playing with power, the Nintendo Story. A five-part documentary on Prime. The only annoying thing about this is the music. Did you end up watching the whole thing? Every episode?
00:31:02
Speaker
I watched, like, how many episodes are there? Five? Five, yeah. I watched, like, three and a half that night after we were done recording. Right. I watched the whole thing. So I never went back to watch it. OK. I watched the whole thing. I'll talk briefly about it then. Oh, maybe briefly. Maybe I'll just get into it. Narrated by Sean Astin. I think he produced it as well. um I have no idea where this came from. No promotion whatsoever. And this came out, I think, in 2021. Oh, is that old? but Yeah, I think so. Nobody knew about it. And it's very, very good. The only annoying thing about it is the music. um Some of it was too much for talking about these stories. as Some of it was too loud.
00:31:42
Speaker
um Too dramatic, maybe. I don't know. It was weird. um First episode talked about the history of Nintendo. Nintendo's been around since 1989. It was a trading card company. 1889. They went into the toys in the 1950s, 1960s. And then they started getting into home electronics and and electronics and arcades.
00:32:02
Speaker
um The first thing that they did was an OG duck hunt game You could play at home where you actually had a pistol and you shot out of figures with a pistol um Then they had a wild gunman video interactive game where it was on it was like a wild gunman game ah but it was shot in live-action and Then you played it was in like arcades and stuff. and then Yeah the second one gun second ones featured it back to future two yeah one ashephal this the actual one. Yeah, yeah fish or trade can um Showed the history of the light gun um Showed the history of arcades and how Nintendo started with arcades um and of course Donkey Kong being the huge one that they started created by Morimoto who was the goat? he created Donkey Kong Mario Brothers Zelda everything we love um he designed all that stuff from the ground up and they gave it to him because they didn't think they're just like here take this project yeah nothing's gonna come of it he ended up making like the whole Donkey Kong section of this was great we're not talking about how basically like nobody thought they thought the name was the dumbest thing ever it wouldn't sell they would get sued by the universal yeah then
00:33:13
Speaker
Everyone that every places are putting it calling them because they were just given away to get people to buy more they ended up basically Making all their money from that one cabinets. They kept buying more Donkey Kong machines. I Don't remember what episode it was last year. I think we did the the king of Kong. Yeah, the documentary um If you have not watched that watch that because it's a great awesome on documentary and it's on prime it's also on prime um Talked a lot about Atari Atari was huge before Nintendo and Atari was huge But they they put way too much out put way too many shitty games out had no Had no control in what they had came out with so it was all crap Yeah, a lot of it they just crappy games anybody make it then Atari would just put it out a notorious story that we always knew about was the ETT Yeah, it would they all failed completely because the game sucks and they had a whole bunch of and a landfill They made that game in three weeks
00:34:10
Speaker
Right. Or six weeks. Something like that. Something insane like that. Just to get it out there in time for the movie. Yeah. And that was a big thing. But Atari failed. Went out of business and then it's Ashes. Nintendo decided to make their own system. And had more creative input. Also had their seal of approval on all the games so they wouldn't come up with crap.
00:34:31
Speaker
um That's why you had the quality you had that quality stamp on all the Nintendo cartridges back in the day. So they ended up creating the Nintendo Entertainment System, the and NES, in the late 80s, 86, 87, I think. I can't remember the exact year. Came out in 85 in the States. And that's what they have the second episode tackled. um Nintendo, trying to figure out a way to sell this, came out with a deal with <unk>s our rat Toys Toys R Us was huge for Nintendo, for everything Nintendo.
00:34:58
Speaker
and And now they're relegated to the corner space. The Macy's in the mall doesn't have anybody going to it. I know it is definitely nostalgia of this and KB toys not being around and everything you felt in this documentary for sure. Yes. um With Atari being gone, they were still making video games.
00:35:15
Speaker
Um, this is before counterfeiting was a problem, that became a game of problem a lot because of this. Um, Atari would not put the seal of approval on their games towards the, towards the middle of this, yeah of the, of the, of the life of the n NES. But the games, some of them were shit and and anything that doesn't have the seal of approval on there, they were done by Atari. I can't remember which games there were, but there were some big ones on there. Um, they ended up getting sued by Nintendo.
00:35:42
Speaker
And they talked about that a lot because of because of that. um Also talked about Game Boy game boy and Tetris. um If you have not seen the Tetris documentary starring Tarrant Edgerton, right? yeah um That was fantastic. I think it's on Apple TV. Talks about all about the history about the history of getting Tetris to America with the Game Boy and how Nintendo won that. I've talked about it briefly in this as well. um Talked about the Sega Genesis coming up.
00:36:08
Speaker
and Sonic the Hedgehog being their huge property and their war and with Nintendo for dominance of and of gaming systems. Episode 3, Tackle of Super Nintendo ah briefly mentioned the Virtual Boy did not talk about the failure of the Virtual Boy even though it was a huge failure for them.
00:36:26
Speaker
Talked about the Super Nintendo CD-ROM which I always heard about um Which was done by Sony was going to be called the PlayStation um and Sony ah Went against the deal with Nintendo and ended up taking it for themselves the CD-ROM for this next gen console ended up making their own system the PlayStation and Became number one after that um Talked about so Sega Saturn, and the kind of failure going into the Sega Dreamcast a little bit. um Talked about the beginning of the internet in the 90s, mid 90s. The Pokemon craze Nintendo had to deal with Pokemon. that' I think the Game Boy had the first ah portable version of that.
00:37:08
Speaker
um Diving into the 64-bit competition ah compilation competition and the Nintendo 64, which was huge. Ocarina at a time, GoldenEye. I didn't talk about Ocarina a lot, but it did talk about GoldenEye. And then getting into Episode 4, it talks about the Sega fails, Sega sega Dreamcast.
00:37:28
Speaker
um PlayStation 2 just turned the world into ah into a fire with games. I think this was before the GameCube and kind of Nintendo took a step back and was always from this point forward a step behind everything else. um And then the GameCube came out, and Game Boy Advance came out after that. um The Xbox jumped up everything up a notch, took over a kind of the spot that Sega had.
00:37:55
Speaker
Nintendo DS, the Wii, the motion controls of the Wii and how that technology has been around since the early 90s or 80s maybe. And then the last episode talks about the iPhone, smartphones, Nintendo integrating into that with their own mobile version of Mario and and Mario Kart. The 3DS, the Wii U and the failure of the Wii U. Joining the Apple App Store and brings it right up to current times talking about the Switch.
00:38:24
Speaker
and how the Wii was such a generational product where old people were buying the Wii to play Wii Sports, but the Switch, they kind of continued that legacy a little bit, but they weren't picking up on that as much as they were with the Wii, the original Wii. That's kind of where the documentary left off. I thought it was really good. I suggest you probably should finish it this weekend if you can, or soon. Yeah, I'll probably try to finish it tonight. I have nothing else to watch, so... Yeah, like I said, the only thing annoying about it I thought was the music was a little bit too much, but other than that, I thought it was done very well. um They got a lot of big names in this. They had ah Reggie, who was the old guy who was the the head, ah the lead of the promotion for for America, Nintendo in America. um They had what's his name, Phil from Xbox, who still is the lead, the guy you see whenever they do Xbox announcements, he's the one, the the figurehead of that. He did interviews for this. He had a whole bunch of other people in this too. and I mentioned Sean Astin from ah
00:39:20
Speaker
from the Hobbit and um and from Lord of the Rings, who played Samwise, um did the narration of this whole thing. So I thought it was really good. um With that being said, now that's on Prime. ah With that being said, let's get into the news.
00:39:40
Speaker
And it's not a new set, but there's a trailer around it.
00:39:44
Speaker
Got a new trailer for Megan 2.0. This came out during I believe the Grammys last week um And ah I liked Megan the first movie About the AI doll that goes crazy I had a weird dance sequence. I remember that I don't remember much about it other than that. It's kind of like Chucky meets don't know Meet something it was kind of like a murderous doll um But they're doing they're taking that to a whole other level ah the the couple details of this I saw I set two years after the first film On the AI tech has been stolen and used to create military grade weapons ah this weapon called Amelia Amelia is gonna be played by I don't know if I have her picture I don't have her picture here, but she was in was she and she was in one of the Ahsoka and
00:40:32
Speaker
Ivana Sokado, I don't know who she is, she's playing the new AI. And Megan is resurrected to safe humanity with upgrades making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. So it's Terminator 2. It's Terminator 2, exactly, that's what I was going to tell you. um It's basically what it sounds like to me. And more dancing doll. So yeah, yay. Got also a new trailer for Final Destination. um This is called Bloodlines, comes out in May. um The guy...
00:41:02
Speaker
Yeah, they're fun movies. In this trailer, the guy has a nose ring, or or I think he has to show the nose ring in this picture, in the poster. um And he ends up getting caught in a ceiling fan, and he starts hanging himself by the nose ring. And then, of course, in Final din Destination Fashion, he ends up being killed off-screen in the trailer. But, um yeah, the first movie was really good. Devin Saller, right? Isn't that one of his movies? Yeah, here's the first two. yep Yeah, first two, right? Yeah, where death always follows you. You can only escape de's death so much, and then it ends up following and finding you. um yeah Yeah, we may be interested in that. We'll see. um First of the three big trailers this week, Jurassic World Rebirth. Looks good. Now, the story, we found out more about the story, um and we know that there was a...
00:41:55
Speaker
Island off of the main island of Jurassic Park where they did all the testing they did all the genetic testing That's what the trailer tells you And in this and this park is where all the mutations were going on. And they had some failures in the mutations of dinosaurs. It did not quite look like dinosaurs. Maybe it weren't the full-form dinosaurs that we know from books and from the first Jurassic Park movies, Jurassic World movies. um And that's kind of what you get and where you get from the trailers. We're going to be seeing a lot of mutated dinosaurs.
00:42:27
Speaker
that were not ready for the world that may have been there may have been in order to destroy these and some of them survived is kind of what we get the idea of what's going on in the trailer um starring Scarlett Johansson she was lobbying for this movie for years I think she was lobbying for a Jurassic World way way back before ah before Chris Pratt took it on from what I heard um And then this and then this came out and she had a huge part in the story for this as well Mahershala Ali's in this he plays kind of like a bounty hunter trying to try to help her hunt down these dinosaurs um And I can't remember Jonathan Bailey who's in wicked is in this as well um And he's kind of like a scientist going in to try to figure out these dinosaurs Yeah, they're starting those fucking rumors too about him about that character because
00:43:15
Speaker
a kid from the fucking first Jurassic Park like the Chris Pratt when he was cast in Jurassic World everyone's saying oh no this is the kid that Alan Grant was talking to because ah apparently in some uh interview who's doing this week he talked about how his character has a connection to Alan Grant okay interesting this movie just looks i don't know all right he's our sore not great it looks better than the last two looks better than the last two The last one we were so down on, when we weren't the only ones, is probably one of the lower rated Jurassic Park movies. I like Gareth Edwards, the director, and also they're using scenes from the book that they did not use in the first Jurassic Park movie. I heard that too. So that excites me. There's a couple of scenes in there that I think we're going to see.
00:44:02
Speaker
the other The other big thing that I heard about the making of this movie, which I think might make make you and I both more excited for, is with Gareth as Edwards directing it, they're taking the horror element of what we loved in the first Jurassic Park where the dinosaurs are chasing everybody and they're turning that more into this story as well where you actually have a villain that you're running away from that's why we love Jurassic Park in the first place the very first movie is you had a you had a bunch of villains that were chasing you down from the beginning to that end of that movie and then you had to try to find sanctuary at the end to survive and this is all about survival in this movie is kind of what this what I'm gathering from all the interviews they've done so
00:44:42
Speaker
ah Very excited, we're going to see some familiar, there is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. um Those swimming dinosaurs we saw in Jurassic World are here, there's a bunch of them this time surrounding a boat with Scarlett Johansson and and yeah, it it just it looks okay. Also, question, okay, so you're doing this little island to experiment with your misfit toys. Right, exactly. You make these dinosaurs, you make these dinosaurs able to swim, which means they can, oh, I don't know, swim off the island, maybe go explore. Right. this war right why are they Why are they staying in this island? right yeah yeah Unless they escape in the movie, maybe that's how they explain. I don't know. I have no idea. um This is also said after Jurassic World, where the dinosaurs are on Earth. Yeah, which is what I thought the point of this would be, like, the fact that they were living amongst the humans. Right.
00:45:31
Speaker
but Who knows? It's kind of a mess, but I have faith in the director, so... Yeah, me too. and there it's gonna It's a brand new a brand new saga, a brand new trilogy, I guess. I don't know if they're planning on a trilogy or not, but a brand new direction for the series, so we'll have to wait and see. um And the big trailer this week, the big one, which I have a lot to talk about, um is Fantastic Four.
00:45:56
Speaker
um Started off this week with the poster on the left there. Looks like a button and with Storm, Richard, Storm, and Grim. Their last name is on a button. Prepared to launch July 25th. This is a teaser for what was going to be the trailer coming on. I believe this came out Tuesday. um And it told everybody to be online at 7 o'clock in the morning for launch. So everybody went on the website and there was a countdown for an hour.
00:46:25
Speaker
Actually ended up being more than an hour and they had a countdown to the trailer viral promotion the countdown showed a whole bunch of scenes and shots of the movie of launching of Rockets because we are we already know that in the Fantastic Four the big story is them going to space and that's where they get to keep the rays that turns them into the radiation rays it turns them into their powers so the countdown of the space of their I think they're in I Alabama are one of the space places, the museums down there. And they had shots of space, the rockets, they had shots of moon rocks, whole bunch of stuff. They had shots of a new picture of the Fantastic Four logo, the Future Foundation logo. And then the cast came on.
00:47:11
Speaker
the whole entire cast, are the four of the main four members, um and they hit a button together and release the trailer. um And we first, before we get into that, I do want to show the four posters that came out on the left there.
00:47:27
Speaker
Everybody's saying that they're AI, especially the one on the far right corner. I did not think that for the front at all. I didn't had no inkling. I had no inkling that that was going to be AI. Yeah, they've denied it. It's the fingers. It's the fingers. That's why the hands only have four fingers in some room, which is usually the choice tells sign of AI, I guess. But the thing that you pointed out and the Internet's pointed out is the guy in the trench coat with the camera looks a lot like Phil from the Marvels.
00:47:54
Speaker
um And I'm wondering if that is a paint homage to that I'm hoping it does the other thing that we notice in this picture that poster looks like an Alex Ross painting They sure just hired Alex Ross to the goddamn thing Alex Ross actually shared it on social I know it does look that like that It looks like his his art come to life which we've been talking a lot about Alex Ross Ross He's one of my favorite. I think he's one of my favorite if not, my favorite Marvel are actually comic artists Yeah, and I haven't even read Kingdom come yet. So I um The one thing that we just take from these four pictures alone before we get into anything else. The Fantastic Four are already established in this universe and already beloved. um We see a kid holding the thing doll. We see kids watching TV, watching the launch of them going into space. We see kids riding a soapbox with a four Fantastic Four in there made to look like the Fantastic Four mobile.
00:48:44
Speaker
um And of course the big the big picture is the the crowd with Phil looks like Phil um Making a photograph um and a whole bunch of science saying earth believes in you We for we believe we love the fantastic for a whole bunch of stuff So the world knows who they are this universe knows who they are beloved them loves them a lot um we also got some new pro promote promo pictures count right after the trailer to and we'll just talk about before we get into the trailer and We got a picture of Herbie there and the four members of the Fantastic Four. um Trailer starts off with a picture of the Baxter Building. This is what the Baxter Building looks like in this version. We know this is another multiverse universe of the Fantastic Four. We're not sure more anything more than that other than we know this is a Fantastic Four and a whole other universe of New York City.
00:49:34
Speaker
set in the 1960s climate. Other than that, we're not really sure. Opens up in an elevator with, um, with Reed and Sue talking to somebody coming in there talking about, we always like to have family dinners on one night, talking about this family dynamic. It's what the whole trailer is about. And then we meet Herbie.
00:49:52
Speaker
Herbie looks like a what you would expect from maybe the Jetsons back in the day. he he has the the His eyes are the the camera reels from the tape back in the day. um Very much robotic. it looks Looks like something that Reeve Richard would have made it in his garage, one of the first things he would have made. um The whole entire house has stuff like that. And then we see the thing.
00:50:17
Speaker
Comic accurate with the huge fucking brow. I was so excited and pumped. I had an ad a verbal Audible gas when I saw it. I was excited to see this. I got I think I believe I got a closer closer picture of him It's just stunning what it what it looks like out of right out of the comic books um This whole scene is him cutting up garlic Reminded me and and everybody else about the bear because they've been must walk rock playing the thing doing the voice Did not do the old gruff voice that we' but we've known from the comic books the big thing the big thing about this is the thing is Not number one a Jewish actor playing the thing was meant to be a Jewish a Jewish character in the comic books already got a point for that and
00:51:00
Speaker
And the skin is the only Addition to the thing he wasn't turned into a monster. He's still He's still Ben Grimm underneath and that was always the thing about the thing It's just he has this he just has this thing where he looks like he's a monster But he's not so having the having Evan Moss Bacharos voice not really changed. I thought I liked that touch I did what they did with it. That's been a lot of discord on that, but I enjoy it Yeah a lot because I think it makes sense to and Makes sense. Yeah, why wouldn't yeah, cuz why would his voice change? It's only his outward appearance is changing um so far I like Matt Matt Shackman's vision of what I've seen so far, but um My favorite shot of this trailer is this shot right here Ben looking in the this is of course the iconic trench coat suit Fedora The iconic thing we've got another close-up picture of that as well So we got Sue storm
00:51:55
Speaker
full force field powers, pit the prism powers she has and in full effect here. We've got her romantic connection with Reed of course. I don't know if they're married yet in this story or what's going on but in the comic books Reed is going to space to try to do research. Ben Grimm is the is the
00:52:22
Speaker
He's an astronaut too, but I think he's the one that drives the ship. He's like, he's, he's the one that drives the ship, yeah the pilot. Yeah. And Sue and Johnny sneak onto the ship. And that's how that, that's how it happens in the first issue of the comic books. And I think they're going to be following that quite a bit. And we're going to get into that. I have, I have a theory on read, but should should I say that a little bit? Maybe I'll say save it. And maybe I may be my theory. You may cover it. Yeah. Yep. You make it work. Okay.
00:52:46
Speaker
um And we see Reed Richards. We don't see his powers at all on the trailer. We don't see his stretching power So people are are saying that well, maybe he doesn't have them yet, but I just have a feeling that that CGI is not done yet um I think they were just giving us a number one teaser trailer to a T teased us completely Okay, I'll stop you there. That was is that is the theory that's going around apparently um is that because in the trailer he mentions last time we get up you became invisible johnny blah blah so maybe he doesn't like this is a reed richard's origin story kind of while the other three already have their powers that's kind of one of the theories but also at one point in the movie you will see his left arm going to the other end of this chalkboarding yes that's why it's so long that's why this chalkboard is so long this is obviously for that reason theories is that this is going to be kind of his origin story where he doesn't have powers but he's still part of the team so there's still the technically the fantastic four um we'll see but also i think that's also the hardest power to get without looking at goofy yeah even though honestly in the 2005 movie it doesn't look terrible
00:53:53
Speaker
no it looks Maybe that's because I'm used to watching that movie at the time and just knowing it was a thing of his time. But honestly it didn't look corny. It didn't look goofy. It looked fine. um So we'll see. um So let's get into this theory. Number one, let's look at this board. um In the middle of the board you have what is shown to be an exit and an enter point ah but of a wormhole.
00:54:17
Speaker
and About the center of the picture there um and he's talking and one of the captions on there says another dimension um The theory I saw going around which I thought was a good theory is maybe they fly off into space in Earth 616 in the 60s. If you remember, and lot not a lot of people are talking about this, but if you remember Dr. Strange, when he goes into the universe with John Krasinski, he plays Mr. Fantastic, and he says, we're part of the Fantastic Four, and says, weren't you guys big in the 60s?
00:54:51
Speaker
The theory is, what if this group of the Fantastic Four were from Earth-616? They went up into space, they ended up getting their superpowers, but during that travel, they also found a way to travel into another universe, another multiverse.
00:55:08
Speaker
Then they landed into this universe, another alternate universe of New York City in the 1960s, and created using Reed Richards. I mean, he's the smartest person on Earth. Reed Richards is always known to be the smartest person on Earth, biggest biggest mind. um use You can see in the in the and in the outline of this city, if you ever look at the city,
00:55:29
Speaker
A lot of the buildings, everything was designed by him, the scientific part of this was designed by him. The theory is they landed into this universe and Reed Richards is trying to find a way back home. That's what the, that's what the multiversal travel is, possibly, um, and maybe that's what's gonna happen in this movie because they know Galactus is coming. I have a feeling that this universe that we're gonna fall in love with,
00:55:53
Speaker
that they're in is it going to be and end up the casualty of this movie. And this this universe is what Galactus is going to feed off of, so the Fantastic Four have to go back to 616 to survive. But everybody else is going to die because that's what Galactus does.
00:56:08
Speaker
um I don't know. I thought that was a good theory. I don't know if that could I don't know if that's the case or not. um The only thing that makes me think that is that is that one Dr. Strange line and Dr. Strange and the whole diverse of madnesses. Aren't you guys weren't you guys big in the 60s kind of. I think they called him a fantastic for I think it was kind of a tongue in cheek like tongue cheek. Maybe the Beatles have for me.
00:56:28
Speaker
But we're going to tell a couple more Beatles shots. yeah Yeah, we're getting a couple of Beatle things in the trailer here, too. But he obviously it is studying the multiverse multiversal portal. So we'll have to sit wait and see on that. um Further down in the trailer, we see Reed holding Sue Storm as she's turning invisible.
00:56:48
Speaker
um they're in They're in the spaceship in the rocket up in space. Not sure what part of the movie this is. Probably the beginning. um And then we meet Johnny Fucking Storm. Played by Joseph Quinn, of course, from Stranger Things. Played Eddie. Loved him in that. Loved him in Gladiator 2. Loved him in everything I've seen him in so far. Loved him in the Quiet Place 2, 3, whatever that one was. Prequel, I remember what it was. Day 1, I guess. um And we see him as a teenager.
00:57:15

In the comic books very cocky ah Chris Evans played him. He's I was gonna say I was gonna say he's got a lot to live up to cuz yep I've already watched some of the original Fantastic Four and Chris Evans is fucking perfect his Johnny Storm Yeah, like yeah plays that character so well. Yeah, very cocky and very very childlike very immature I can't wait to see him and Ben get into it Yep, I think the immaturity is going to be played well, because you saw Eddie, Eddie in Stranger Things, very immature in that. He's on Gladiator 2, right? He was pretty immature. Yeah, he plays immature well. um And then we see him flying into space as the human torch, going up to space. I think kind of testing his powers, the flames end up going out and he floats back down to Earth, kind of what the trailer shows. um And then we see him flying through the city with his powers as well. we see him
00:58:07
Speaker
um igniting and fire off the balcony of the Baxter building out of their apartment and People speculating that he could be chasing And showing dirt on the camera. Yeah, um people speculating that maybe human torch is either following the silver surfer because silver surfer wasn't shown in the trailer We know she's part of this um Throughout the city. um There's also something else a cloud. We'll we'll talk about that in a minute um we do see the first photos of the fantastic car which looks like an old Cadillac looks amazing and We see the rocket ship that they end up going into space in we see this mysterious character um Played by ah John Malkovich who could be the red camera his name is a he's a Russian guy I want to say red dwarf. I know that's wrong I can't remember his name, but could be the villain that everybody's saying um could be also a follower for um Dr. Doom. Dr. Doom has a follower that kind of looks like that. I can't ever remember his name either.
00:59:02
Speaker
um But the big thing that we're going to talk about is this photo right here. um Issue 4 or 6 of the original Fantastic Four run? Nope. Issue 48. Issue 48. I knew there was a 4 in there somewhere. um Yeah, 4 of course. Fantastic Four. A Watch To The Watcher.
00:59:20
Speaker
um In the issue 48, 49, and 50 is the trilogy. It's probably the most marvel famous Marvel trilogy of Galactus the Herald coming to Earth to try to eat it. um mean It's the debut of the Silver Surfer in 48, debut of Galactus in 49, and the Galactus gets defeated in 50. But in the first one, you also see Watu the Watcher, who we've already known in the MCU, played by Jeffrey Wright in the animated What If show. um In this comic book,
00:59:47
Speaker
In order to try to show that there's nothing on Earth for Galactus, he ends up creating this world like this cloud of fire over the city in the comic book. I actually have a picture.
00:59:59
Speaker
um Of course, this is Fantastic Four in the trailer looking at this cloud of fire. In the comic book on the left there, a Watu creates this wall of fire around the Earth to try to try to get the Herald, who ends up being glad um Silver Surfer, of off the scent of Earth. And um it doesn't it doesn't help. um In another scene, I think it's on the right there, you actually see a Watu talking to them. He says, perhaps I can explain. I have been causing those phenomena in the skies above Earth.
01:00:28
Speaker
with my Matter Mobilizer. It's a fire shield um um to kind of try to get the scent off of Galactus. um And that's what the theory is that Awatu and Jeffrey Wright are going to debut in live action in this.
01:00:44
Speaker
um In the comic books, I believe epi i believe issue 48 was also the first time a watu interfered because he's supposed to be a watcher. This is the first time he ever interferes. um And he gets in trouble for this as well.
01:00:58
Speaker
but um The big thing is he's trying to do that too get off to get the scent off of Galactus and Silver Surfer, but does not work. Galactus ends up showing up eventually and tries to devour the city, which we end up seeing in the trailer. these are This is the trilogy there, 48, 49, 50. And we end up seeing the shadow of Galactus and then we see his head next to the Statue of Liberty staring off into the distance.
01:01:23
Speaker
um Could people complaining on glactus is not big glactus can change for I was gonna say he can change sides in the comments like He can okay can he can change why is Ant-Man so small? Oh, why is he so big now? He can change fucking sizes. Yep. Yep. Glactus is a extremely powerful. He's on the level of celestial power um If not, maybe sometimes can be considered more powerful than some might say he's as powerful as a cloud Which this is great that we have this, an actual picture of Galactus. Was that in the second one, the silver surfer one? Because I never saw the second fantastic one. I will say this, this about the second one, the way they did silver surfer looked amazing. Story sucked. This, the cloud sucks. Of course, all of that sucks. Um, the humor of that is great. They kind of take the super scroll.
01:02:13
Speaker
of having all the Fantastic Four powers in one. I think Johnny Storm's the one that has all the powers in that movie. But yeah, in the very final shot of the trailer, um we got all the Fantastic Four lined up. And what you mentioned earlier, the Ed Sullivan studio, where the Beatles debuted, same same stage, same eras, pointing to the stage, set up like the Beatles when they performed on Ed Sullivan back in the 60s. And that's probably what this is, showing them. their They are, of course, like we mentioned in the beginning of this breakdown, um they are,
01:02:44
Speaker
They are lot beloved in this world, so they're going to be on television. They're the Avengers of this world. They're the heroes. yeah They're the Avengers of this world. so This trailer got me so fucking pumped and everybody got pumped from it. um I loved it. I think it did great. It was only a minute and 30 seconds. But it showed it showed just enough to get us to a couple months from now and we'll see the full trailer.
01:03:05
Speaker
a little bit more reveal, maybe a better look at Galactus, maybe a look at the Herald of Silver Surfer, the final look at that. I hope that's important to me. Silver Surfer is probably one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe, and that includes the story of Galactus, which is probably my favorite villain of the Marvel Universe. So I've loved it ever since the animated Fantastic Four series in the 90s.
01:03:30
Speaker
um Yeah, very exciting very exciting time that whole month of July. We've got Superman we've got Rebirth the Jurassic Park world movie and then we get the end of the month. We got this and and comic-con July It's going to be an awesome month and comic book nerds Somewhere in there we have the Smurfs smurfing around doing all their Smurfs stuff. Smurfs Smurfs doing his thing. He's clicked the little like and subscribe Smurf. You got you got Grandpa Smurf on the ones and twos. The Wicca Wicca Wiccas. You know it's gonna be a fun time. It's gonna be a good month. You'll notice there was no Smurf talk in this episode.
01:04:05
Speaker
ah Well, I mean, I've heard from somebody that, or or some people, I should say online, a certain fan base tell me about how the Smurfs are gonna absolutely dominate a certain movie coming out July 11th, 2025 at the box office and how they're even making fun of them in the trailer. So I can't wait to see the Smurfs Smurf all over Superman with their Smurfs. The other thing, the other thing, I'm gonna stop you right here. Do not even compare this trailer to Superman. I hate looking. Obviously. Oh, it's the worst.
01:04:35
Speaker
I hate looking on Twitter. I've been going on Twitter a lot more lately because Facebook algorithm is fucked and I can't get any of my news on there anymore. So I'm going on Twitter to get the news. um And it is volatile. And if you love anything, it's it's good you're going to be looking at comments on there saying that you don't love it. That that you're you're you're a fucking idiot for loving this more than Superman.
01:04:57
Speaker
but Yeah, volatile time to be a fan, but it sucks that we got two great trailers in a month and a half. It really sucks that we got two great superhero trailers in a month and a half, doesn't it? And people are complaining about it. They're both fucking great, for the different reasons. They're both great. For completely different reasons, and they're both movies that we both look forward to. I'm actually, this trailer made me excited for this movie way more than once. You're not the only one. You're not the only one? Yeah.
01:05:22
Speaker
I was always waiting to see because the Fantastic Four, for one. um Obviously, I liked the original movie. I never saw the second one. Fan 4 Stick was what it was. um But I've always loved the Fantastic Four, but they've never really been gotten right either at the same time. And it's probably doubled my excitement for this, um especially seeing him as Reed Richards, because I was very unsure about that casting. I like all the other three casting, though. But yeah, this movie should be pretty damn good. Matt Jackman is a hell of a director, so.
01:05:52
Speaker
can't wait for July weekend box office last week Dogman won the box office an animated movie 36 million ah companion movie the companion 9.5 million Mufasa liking 6.1 million um Amelia Perez this actress had went on a Twitter tirade and she is being canceled right before the Oscars thank God It's the biggest PR disaster I think the Oscars have ever had um because she's up for all the ah all the awards this year. And a lot of people assume that the Oscars are only giving them these awards because of how quote unquote woke the movie is because nobody seems to like the movie. So like this whole thing's just been backfiring on the Oscars this entire time.
01:06:31
Speaker
Yeah, um i don't have any I don't have any examples, but a lot of them were Islamophobic, racist. Yeah, I haven't actually seen the tweets, but they're apparently there. It was all stuff from years ago from what I heard. It was it was all brought back. I i heard a few were from like recent, like within the last year and a half. I don't know. I haven't seen any of them, so.
01:06:53
Speaker
Still, I've not seen the movie. Everything I hear is just the worst movie ever. and And it's not even it's not even it's a wonder why this is even in the Oscars. Yeah. And condemned contention. But there's like two people online I trust and they both say it's a terrible movie and they have no idea why it's not made for so many awards.
01:07:11
Speaker
Yeah. um Art Bell who was a radio host a decade ago, two decades ago. um They're doing a movie about him starring Paul Giamatti. Yeah, I'm interested in radios. I may want to watch that. I like Paul Giamatti. So I got some new pictures from The Last of Us season two. It comes out in a couple of months. um but all we got We're excited for that.
01:07:36
Speaker
good good time to talk about this so i played about i finally buckled down and played about the first four and a half hours of less of us part two tomorrow i mean yes sorry i know now why everyone hates the abbey character And I have no idea when they're going to inject that scene into the show, because it happens pretty early on. The scene that I'm not going to spoil it here, but I'm sure you know what I'm referencing. I do. And it is fucking Glenn on Walking Dead Brutal. Yep, that's my heart. So I didn't know it would be that brutal. um But now I know why everyone hates Savvy. But the game's fucking incredible.
01:08:17
Speaker
I did not think I would like playing as Ellie and she's so much fun to play as so um you should probably pick that up or try to before the show starts because I don't want to be I want to play through the game before being spoiled on the game through the show.
01:08:29
Speaker
yeah um Will Forte is talking a lot about the WB write-off for the Coyote vs. Acme movie. It was a $30 million tax write-off. And he says it's fucking bullshit. And we thought the same thing because everything we hear about this movie is how awesome it is. His thoughts were, my thoughts were that it's fucking bullshit. It's such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than it got. And he also got a new still this week. I'm surprised there's so many leaks coming from this movie of John Cena squishing Tweety Bird.
01:08:59
Speaker
I assume this is standing for what would be become animated or CGI Tweety Bird. I would assume. But yeah, um, it sucks that we're not going to see this movie. Everything I hear about it looks, looks good. But the other thing too is they're shopping it around and you would think if it's that good, somebody would have paid them like 20 million for it, you know? Right. They would have 30 million they wanted. Like you would, you would think that if it was that good, maybe the other sites like Netflix just don't see the value in it for bringing it to them because they don't own the the brand. I don't know. Um, it's just odd that they couldn't find somebody to buy it.
01:09:32
Speaker
Right. um Buffy the Vampire Slayer, getting a sequel series. Never watched the original series. I know it's a huge, huge thing that people love. um Never got into it in the 90s and 2000s. I know Angel spun off of that. Never got into it. um But Sarah Michelle Guller is going to return. It's going to be on Hulu. Going to be a pilot order coming soon. So yeah. Talking to the hashtag show. um Ron Perlman is talking about Hellboy again.
01:10:02
Speaker
um And we of course I love the first help to help boys with him in Guillermo But he talked about what if they ever came back the only reason the only way he would come back is if Gamel del Toro Returned to direct it that the only way in fact He's had opportunities to play Hellboy and they turned him down probably for the last two movies because and he passed on it because Guillermo wasn't involved. um Because the only reason I loved Hellboy was because of whatever he did with that character and what and how he played it. I assume they asked him to be in the first Hellboy reboot and he said no, or they were talking about- The one with David Harbour, yeah. or
01:10:44
Speaker
They're talking about doing it without del Toro before David harbors Which is probably more likely the case that they're like in 2008 or 9 they were like we're gonna do it But without del Toro and here's fire like pound Sam. Yep, that's what I'm guessing too. But uh, yeah Yeah, I I would love to see him come back. but He's in his 70s. He's hasn't he's on a he's on a clock now. Um Ethan Embry He was in a lot of 90's movies, he was in Vegas vacation, he was in a bunch of like teen movies as well. um Ethan Embrey has joined the cast of Scream 7.
01:11:18
Speaker
um yeah wasn't he in that a He was in a bunch of random movies in the high schooler in the 90s, early 2000s, so I'm not going to try to think of the names of them, but yeah. yeah um Elliot Page, rumored to be part of the Odyssey cast, Alan Page, Christopher Nolan may have gotten her rumors that Maya Goth is also rumored for a role in that movie as well.
01:11:43
Speaker
um Yeah, ah this is gonna be Homer's the Odyssey So it's gonna be a crazy crazy movie with this cast seeing seeing Nolan do this who is mr. Anti CGI is Very interesting like he is so anti CGI that he bought a plane out of his own pocket money to blow up for Tenant as opposed to using CGI and then the studio paid him back as it worked, but uh It should be interesting seeing him do the fucking Odyssey Right, yeah. Yeah, it should be interesting. Kiyo Kwon, gonna start in the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week, and the cast of The Goonies showed up. He also had the Love Hurts movie that came out today. He had the premiere. yeah And all the cast members of The Goonies showed up to give him support, um including Chunk, including Sean Astin, who played the the lead kid.
01:12:34
Speaker
ah Corey Feldman Everybody was there and they're talked about the Goonies coming back and he says he would love to have that that come back um One of the most asked questions in his life. He loved to have that happen So if they did a Goonies movie again Goonies sequel probably playing the adults I would think new kids coming and playing the kid roles, but um I have no problem with this. I would I love the goonies. I know I know you watch it later in life, but Goonies is was a huge part of my childhood. I would love to see this maybe being rebooted um Get some swag and swag Stuff we all get come on son. You know that's right
01:13:21
Speaker
And it's not a week without a ah popcorn bucket for the monkey. It comes out in a couple weeks. so This is the Stephen King movie. A monkey on a drum popcorn bucket. um Also, Blade, hot toys figure from Deadpool and Wolverine. The likeness of, ah with what's his name?
01:13:40
Speaker
Wesley Snipes. Wesley Snipes, yeah. Yeah, very excited. Looks good. I'm probably not going to get it. um Rumors going into the DC Marvel News of the Week. madie Mikey Madison from Inora. Rumor to be part of the Sargent Rock movie that's been rumors in in the in the making.
01:13:59
Speaker
I haven't seen ah and i much about this besides daniel craig being maybe sergeant rock being attached. Yes be attached um, but yeah Um, we'll have to wait and see on that. Um, I thought this comic cover looked awesome. It's a reenact of the original one Um, this is gonna be coming out on on freak ah free comic book day or something next month march. Um, somebody in my book discord shared this said superman flying to theaters and whatever amount of days and dan more like the post Oh nice. Action Comics number one is going to be reprinted in in Golden Age size. I can't remember if Golden Age is bigger or not. but um yeah um Big Marvel news this week is Rob Liefeld.
01:14:44
Speaker
A lot of people have thoughts on Rob Lifefield and especially Deadpool and the how he can't draw feet. um But the big thing this week was he thought that at the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere, he his family was mistreated. In that moment, he decided he was going to leave Marvel, so he ended up having his last run with Marvel recently. And then he went on a tirade on his podcast saying that he will never work with them again. He he's he waited this long because he just turned in his very last daredevils not daredevil Deadpool script, which is gonna be released I think next month But he just turned in his last writing project for them And apparently there's been a lot of artists that have come out and said this yeah about no,

Comic Book Creators & Industry Recognition

01:15:25
Speaker
it's happened. It's happened It's happened since the 60s with yeah ne stan lee but but Kevin Feige now being dragged into it He says that he does not treat comic book writers. Well, Kevin Feige is what I'm right. My fella said so I Like it's not, it's just not an old news. This is i not new news. This is old news. We've heard about this. And even what's his name? The guy that created Bane was mad that he didn't get credit at the beginning of Dark Knight Rises also. So now it's just a bunch of, I mean, it sucks. Especially somebody like Liefeld, who has made roughly $15 million dollars in his career off selling projects, even though Deadpool is the only one that's ever been actually made.
01:16:03
Speaker
but um yeah it does suck that they don't treat the creators as well as we would like them to yeah no it's why stanley had a falling out with dick co that's why he has fallen out with uh with uh what's his name uh ramira not ramira dick co um ramada ramados yeah and like i think this is also one reason why james is kind of bringing in yeah yeah i think there's one reason too why james is actually bringing in comic writers to work on shit with him so he doesn't get labeled like this like yeah trying to show that he respects them a little bit i don't know that's just this is a random thought that popped in my head when i saw this news um is that they're getting a lot of credit they're crediting a lot of the writers over there at the current moment so yeah um we'll see uh i guess the new posters we had uh daredevil born again and coming out in just a few weeks i guess the new poster for jadeevil born again
01:16:55
Speaker
It's character posters and different things. We've got new

casting for, this is official casting, came from Variety for the new Vision movie. maa roro I don't even know how to say his name, but he's joined the cast of the Vision series on Disney+. Thinking of it as a a third part of this trilogy of series, starting with WandaVision, middle was Agatha, and the last part of this is going to be Vision, setting up ah going into Secret Wars. Also announced this week, Liv Tyler,

Yeah, we'll talk about it after off pod Finally in news the rumors are that Marvel Studios considering bringing back Jonathan Majors to finish the store's Kang the Conqueror
01:18:06
Speaker
Not sure about that. We'll have to wait and see, but that's it for the show. That's it that's it for this week. um Next week, we'll talk with Super Bowl Halftime, Dexter Original Sin Finale, maybe Dark Side of the Cage we'll see, continue watching Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Cobra Kai is next week, ah the final see the final of that series. um For the year of Superman, we're gonna talk about Look Up in the Sky and the DC Secret Origins documentaries. um Watch both of those this weekend or this week.
