LeBron James Missing and Career Comparisons

00:01:25
Speaker
Hey, what's going on? Hello, internets. How are we doing, Raymond? Doing good. Before we get into the show, I had a question for you. i would ask what is go What is going on with LeBron James? I don't want to get into a teach race sport. Oh, keep hearing I never said you. I have a new fairy UFC fighter. I got to send you the clip from Twitter. um It's it's incredible. What do you mean what's going on about him? Well, from what I heard, he was he was missing.
00:01:53
Speaker
He went missing like Sunday night, didn't he? Or a couple of nights ago and then he took off tonight's game or something. I don't remember exactly what happened. Yeah. He's old. He's old. Is that where we're chalking it down to? He needs to retire. I need fucking 39. Wow. Yeah. that's Younger than us. I was, I remember watching his first game, um, in high school. Yep. And, uh, yeah, we watched his first game because it was obviously on TV. It was on yeah ESPN at the time. Um,
00:02:24
Speaker
Yeah, a long time ago. That's half my life ago. I watched his first game. That's kind of insane. Yeah, I like to think about that. Yeah, because even Jordan, when did

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Legendary Career

00:02:33
Speaker
when did he start? middle age Jordan had a much shorter run, 84. He was drafted. So then he had year and a half to year hiatus. And then he came back, won a few, and then left again. But he retired. I think he was, he came back.
00:02:48
Speaker
on the Wizards after he was done with the Bulls for two years, I think of the year was 2000, he came back on the Wizards. I think he was like 37 that year, I think. He might have been 38. He might have.
00:03:02
Speaker
a Maybe retired from the Bulls. He was 37 years on the Wizards and he was like 40 for one year. That could have been it. But he took a few more years off before going back to the Wizards. Who's the oldest player that's ever played like stayed in the league the longest? Is it Kareem? I heard Kareem was one of them. Kareem's got to be. He played from the 60s through the 80s. Yeah. OK. Yeah. Like he played for the Lakers before they were in L.A.
00:03:29
Speaker
um So yeah, I would probably say Kareem. I believe he played for like a four years in LA. Right. Cool. Uh, yeah, I just want to ask you that. Cause I keep seeing these things about LeBron James and people speculating that there's something going on with him and did he parties I think it's just.
00:03:46
Speaker
It could be that or just could be his douchebaggery that you always talk about surrounding. He also has Karp launch to kind of take like if he knows he's not playing, he can go where he wants it. Honestly, he probably want to watch his son play. OK, that's probably where he went. um if Yeah, they're not. yeah they's They're not playing any together anymore, right? He's a failed experience, failed experiments. OK. OK.

TV Show Discussions: 'Shrinking' and Apple TV Quality

00:04:08
Speaker
Yeah, sorry to start the show off in such a broad note. But we did watch a lot this week. We're getting into the end of the year. ah We'll talk bit more about that at the end of the show. ah We did watch a big movie release this week and we've got news on that. We'll talk about the end.
00:04:23
Speaker
Well, we'll get into all that. um So we'll talk about what we watched. We watched a few TV shows. We continued to watch Shrinking. um This episode was really good. um It was very funny. There was a lot of moments. Jason Siegel's friend, his gay friend, may be my favorite character on the show. Just a little quick joke. He's awesome. and now Yeah, he's awesome. ah This episode brought in Colby Smulders, who if you've seen the Marvel movie, she played ah Maria Hill.
00:04:51
Speaker
um She was also in How I Met Your Mother with Jason Siegel. So she came in this. Seems like she's being a teased to be a love interest later on. Probably not this season. Maybe starting next but in the next few episodes. There's only a couple left. But um I'm guessing next season she may come back and be a love interest. They did have a good chemistry on the show.
00:05:10
Speaker
I don't know how I met your mother and they brought it into the show as well. Um, we are getting closer. Um, his daughter now knows that he told the man who killed his mother or her mother and his wife to never speak to them again and get the fuck out of their life. And his daughter is pissed at him. And that's where the episode ended.
00:05:29
Speaker
um We have two episodes left two more weeks. um We'll talk about the penultimate episode next week um And when we come back from our break, we're gonna take a break in a couple weeks We'll talk about the finale of that show um But it's very good season if you have not seen the show. It's on Apple TV Plus 9.99 a month. Unfortunately, it's one of the higher priced streaming services just for one pretty much one Set of things that they only they they only have their own thing. They don't have really a lot of other um Properties, but they do have a lot of quality, which is a big very for very good quality um read la so in This come out with everything they come out with they don't have a lot but it's all good quality Severance is another one I've heard about having watch yet. I think silos on Apple TV. Also. There's another one I've heard about I don't watch it We're gonna talk about quality today.

Exploring 'Skeleton Crew' and 'Creature Commandos'

00:06:19
Speaker
Yep. Yep We talk about movies on there a lot, but we got another movie, Christmas movie we'll talk about in a little bit. um Are you still watching Dune? I wanted to ask you that. What? Next topic. So you're not watching it. You gave up on it too. I might, I'll probably try to watch it all once in one sitting. I just wasn't in the mood. I was watching Christmas stuff.
00:06:41
Speaker
Yeah, I get that. But this this episode, this show is great. Skeleton Crew is just fantastic. um Very beginning of the episode, towards the beginning of the episode, we get a Trade Federation droid easter egg. He gets awoken and it's like he woke up right after the Clone Wars or 10 years, no, this would be 30 years after the Clone Wars and he's like, did we win?
00:07:03
Speaker
Roger, Roger. But that was pretty funny. We finally know who the character who Jude Law is playing. His name is um Crimson Jack. I did not know this character. I'm sure you may have not known the character because he's been around since the 1970s. When the original Star Wars movie came out before it was A New Hope,
00:07:24
Speaker
Marvel had the comic book rights. They did the adaptation of the original Star Wars movie. And before Empire Strikes Back came out in 1980, they continued that story and they did their own comic book story run. And one of the characters, and I think it i think it was in issue six or seven after they had already done A New Hope, they debuted a character named Captain or Crimson Jack.
00:07:51
Speaker
And that's him in the comic book there, and that is Jude Law's pirate character in the show. um He's a pirate captain and a rival to Han Solo. um And it was set shortly after the events of A New Hope. He robbed Solo in his rebellion-awarded wealth, um the wealth that he got at the end of A New Hope, um preventing him from paying off his debt to Jabba the Hutt. So in Canon number one, this is Legacy Canon, which we know after Disney took over, and this has completely been wiped out. However, we know Filoni and Favreau are going in and getting some of these lent legacy characters and story arcs like Thrawn, like this, like, um, like in the act of like we saw some too. Um, and they're bringing that into regular Disney canon now. And this is one, and this is one of those characters. So explains why Han Solo couldn't pay off job of the hut because his riches were stolen. He never did pay off job of the hut. And that's why he was taken in an episode set or episode five.
00:08:47
Speaker
um Great show. great I really like the style of the show. It's different than most Star Wars stuff we've seen lately. I love most of the characters. The kids are the kids. You're going to get kids. You're not going to get much out of the kid actors. or They're new into the game. But the thing is about the kids is usually you insert kids into an adult show and the kids typically suck. um But because it's a kid's show, it doesn't matter. um And the kids are fantastic in this show. so Yeah, they're really good.
00:09:15
Speaker
Yeah, they're excellent. It's more than great show so far. It's more than just the Goonies in space. is That's what it's being compared to. um It's definitely Star Wars. I mean, you get the feel of Star Wars, especially this episode. um You see the X-Wing fighters come in towards the end. A very cool, very yeah cool nod to the Star Wars universe. so um Creature Commandos, episode three. The one we were both looking for. Poor one out for my homie. Poor one out for my homie. GI Robot, who is great. This is his old origin story coming from World War II. We get a cameo from Sergeant Rock, who we've talked about lately because he is going to be getting, supposedly, that's him on the bottom, he's going to be getting his own series. I'm guessing it's going to be a continuation of his set in World War II. A war movie. That'd be cool to get GI Robot in live action. In live action, yeah.
00:10:02
Speaker
um And the preview for next week, we already talked about it, is Weasel. And James Gunn has talked about it at OZM saying that this episode is the he's most heart he's ever or something like that and most of that heartbreaking episode. heartbreak um i think I think it's going to set up that Weasel actually didn't do anything and he's innocent this entire

Dexter Series Continuation and Nostalgia

00:10:20
Speaker
time. That's what it looks like in the trailer. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to next week. I just wish, I mean, they're only 22 minutes or something, 25 minutes. I wish they gave us just two a week.
00:10:31
Speaker
Oh, very, very short. Yeah. um And the meme that's going around now is that's what a Nazi would say this whole entire this whole this whole entire episode, seeing how he was kind of He's a robot, of course, and he's only on one killing mission. That's to kill Nazis in World War Two. They never reprogram that. So when he goes into modern day, he goes into a white supremacist meeting and they seize the Nazi symbol and he realizes everybody's in the room. Everybody in the room is a Nazi. So he just takes out the whole entire room. And then, you know, one of my one of my favorite scenes from the show so far is when he's in modern day and he asks Rick Flag, senior, are there Nazis here?
00:11:15
Speaker
And he's like yes, and you just hear like this. Oh yeah groan come out of And he just shoots up everybody in this place is attacking the the creature commandos a great show great episode This is on max if you have not watched it um This is a brand new if you're if you want to start getting into the DC you or this is kind of setting the peacemaker universe Suicide Squad universe kind of um but if you want to just get into this it's it's you don't really need to have any prior knowledge of anything going forward and We also saw in the preview for next week, we're going to get more premonitions from Circe of the future that could happen. And we DC the superheroes again, hanging and on crosses Superman.
00:11:54
Speaker
I believe you see Batman and Robin this time. um I'm not, I didn't really, I didn't do a pause and take and take a look at everybody that was on the crosses, on the stakes. Yeah. I heard Batman is in the show, but he's not, he doesn't have a voice role or anything. He's just seen like either a shadow or something to see. That's what I heard a few weeks back. But we know that Clayface is coming up. Alan Tudyk is doing the voice of him. So we know that's going to be a episode soon. um We speculat but speculated about that, I believe. I don't know if we did it off pod or on pod or not, but um We speculated that could be the the princess, but that's all

Elton John Documentary and Christmas Movies

00:12:28
Speaker
speculation. No truth to that. um Another show that I watch, I've been talking about it lately and it's getting bad reviews, but I do want to bring up something about it. Secret Level. This is on Prime. Ten episodes, very, very short episodes. um And every episode, I think there's ten this time it released this week.
00:12:46
Speaker
The second half drops on the 17th. Every episode is a stand-alone story. So, and each episode is an anthology talking about individual game franchises. First episode is Dungeons and Dragons. I've only watched two of these, by the way, because there's only two games that I've ever played. Dungeons and Dragons was the first episode, and I believe Pac-Man was like the eighth episode.
00:13:11
Speaker
Dungeons & Dragons episode was fucking incredible, but it was only 10 to 12 minutes long. And that's the problem that's the problem I have with this show, and that's what everybody's saying. It's like, wow, why can't you just make a Dungeons & Dragons show like this? um If anybody it loves D and&D, anybody's ever played D and&D, go watch the first episode of this.
00:13:32
Speaker
Takes 13 minutes. The visuals are stunning. It's like TikTok for streaming. That's exactly what it is. Very quick. And they don't and they don't they don't interact with any other episodes. It's all standalone for this one episode. um If they ever do a second season, if they do another 13 minutes of Dungeons and Dragons, I think a lot of people would be pissed. They want to see a whole series of this.
00:13:52
Speaker
But um the Pac-Man episode is a different take on Pac-Man. I mean, Pac-Man, all we know is a maze, pretty much. But this one is is' a weird horror-like take on it. It's it's strange. But I didn't want to bring it up because the D and&D episode is one of the best D and&D things I think I've ever seen on screen.
00:14:09
Speaker
um and I play D&D and see, you know, if I'm if i'm highly praising it, it must be good. I told my one of my D and&D buddies to watch it and let me know his thoughts on it too. but um It's on Prime, just came out, second half comes is out next week. um I believe the second half tackles Mega Man and a few other PlayStation exclusive franchises too. um I don't know if you had a chance, I'm really hoping you did, but did you watch Dexter?
00:14:33
Speaker
Fucking, I've seen it twice. Yeah, I stayed up to watch it and I watched it again. um Awesome. So yes, I have seen it. um Fucking show loved it. It's going to take some time to get used to the different characters playing characters we know. Especially um the two that stood out to me are Dab and Misuka. Yes. Because it seemed like Misuka did that little like laugh almost like randomly. Every.
00:14:54
Speaker
every scene and it was a little overdone it was it's done perfectly for masookka but it's it was overd done a little bit and um deb sometimes now just seems a little bit forced when she's swearing but i think that's just getting used to the characters yeah being played by different actors younger actors i will say that kid is playing dexter is Dexter. ah ye he has all the manual z and sounds like him like He sounds like Dexter 15 years before the show starts so it sounds like Dexter 15 years earlier.
00:15:26
Speaker
you know he's scottish right I did know that, yeah yeah. Crazy. Crazy how they change their voice like that, yeah. How can Europeans, just to get, how are they so good at doing American accents? And we can't do like, Leonardo DiCaprio can't do a Boston accent for shit. like And we can't do their accents for shit most of the time. But you get something like Gary Oldman or Christian Bale. Christian Bale doesn't even speak in his native Welsh accent when he's fucking but on projects. Like he just speaks in whatever overall role he's in. like It's insane to me. funny They can do that so well. It's funny you brought that up. So we're going to talk about that with a movie that we're going to review later with Aaron Taylor-Johnson. We're going to talk about that in a minute with the accents. um This picks up right where New Blood left off. And we know at the end of New Blood, Dexter gets shot by his son. And he we see the very beginning. He's being carted to the hospital in a police police car in the middle of the woods in the snowy tundra of New York, I guess if we figured that at the end of the ah of the series.
00:16:26
Speaker
And Dexter sees quote unquote his life flash before his eyes. And that's where the show takes place in his brain. He flat lines and then he comes back and he's like, oh, and then he just starts telling the story.
00:16:39
Speaker
ye um Early 90s soundtrack, I really liked that. I liked a lot and then they did like Ice high sp ba is like Ice A whole bunch of hip-hop from the early 90s. Like you mentioned, Mizuka, the laugh was too much, but I wasn't watching the TV. I had my eyes off the on my phone or something and I hear the laugh was like, wow, did they bring back the original after they played Mizuka? He had the laugh. It was too fucking good.
00:17:04
Speaker
um And they did the red carpet. I did have a few pictures of the red carpet of them together bringing the original cast together um and the end of the episode at the beginning of the episode they showed a preview of a little quick teaser of Dex resurrection Coming out next summer the announcement next summer. ah Yeah, June I'm very excited about that um and and there is I guess the showrunner came on talking about it is a continuation of picking up right where this show pretty much leaves off. His son has to be in it, right? Harrison has to be in it. He was at the premiere and everything, too. um So he has to be in it. I think we're going to get what we wanted to um by the looks of it with if Dexter Dexter is being alive. And I think we're going to see. He's going to Yep. And he's going to end up back in Miami. I think it's going to be on trial.
00:17:52
Speaker
like this is just like this is like having your buffalo wings for your steak right now um with this original sin show right now um you know what it's setting we know what it's setting so awesome were um yeah we're we're looking forward to it i'm so happy this show exists something i never knew i needed the best part about it is we don't have to wait what six months for the next part of this year exactly we don't know i thought we'd be waiting at least for another year no it's november Um, one thing I want to bring up to you is, um, so in this episode, uh, Dexter's, the other thing is the lore about Dexter and Deb having an older brother who died. Yes. and Right. Right. Um, I don't think that was ever brought up in the original show. So that's going to add an actual layer, I think to the character of his father. Um, but the one thing I wanted to bring up to you is, um, when his father is in the hospital,
00:18:40
Speaker
His father has a heart attack basically, he goes to the hospital. And so all the cops come by and bring Dexter and dad food and to load up the fridge for when the dad gets out like that day or whatever. Do you know something with Suka, bro?
00:18:52
Speaker
No, that was another cop. Was it brownies or cake? What was it? i think I think it was the same thing he made during the Thanksgiving ah episode. I think it was those chocolate lava cakes, what it looked like. ah that it was a I'm 90% sure it was just like chocolate lava cakes. So I thought that was a cool tie in. I didn't i caught that the second time because I watched it. At that point, it was like 2.15 in the morning. I was like nodding off to sleep.
00:19:14
Speaker
oh But yeah, I thought that was a cool little like thing. And of course, like I mentioned earlier, the intro where it's the same intro, but it's Harry, Dexter, and Deb doing all the routines in the morning. um Awesome. Dexter saving Deb at a frat party was cool. um Yeah. I wanted to take his first kill.
00:19:35
Speaker
Also, that Kill It was in this episode. That was one they described in the original show, correct? Or did they just... or Because I know he killed a nurse that was slowly poisoning patients. I'm like 90% sure, because remember, it was like a it was like probably season eight or seven. Yeah, I remember.
00:19:51
Speaker
and He was getting a few more years with dad. I'm pretty sure that was the kill right there um So cool tie-ins to the original show. I'm really looking forward to next week another one I wish I could just sit there and binge all day and delayed doing this podcast till about 8 o'clock tonight But yeah, yeah, we're lucky a great weekly watch we're We're lucky the show comes up Friday morning. We were thinking Friday night and We were thinking it is airing on on Showtime Sunday night same time it always aired on Dexter Yeah, it's gonna have a it's gonna have a Sunday night premiere But if you have a Paramount Plus if you have Paramount Plus with Showtime, yeah, you can watch Friday morning it says uh 12 it said 1205 or 1201 why looks up it didn't it went on a like probably 12 I 40 or so because I started playing some video games and I ended up and I'm like, I'm gonna go to bed and then I checked and I'm like, oh, it's up. Fuck. So I stayed up and watched it. Very good. Had to make pancakes though. Made pancakes and watch some next year. It was a good time.
00:20:49
Speaker
Oh yeah. Um, pancakes. I wanted to bring this up. I'm sure you probably haven't had time to watch it today, but there's a new documentary on Disney plus, um, Elton John never too late. I haven't watched the whole thing. I want halfway halfway through. You're going to love it. Um, it's Elton John current time talking about him growing, him becoming the superstar that he is. The rock star that it was in the seventies, a biography, right? Just Elton John being interviewed as a biography. Yeah. Yep.
00:21:14
Speaker
yep Uh, very good. Uh, it's on Disney Plus currently. Um, Christmas movies. We've got, uh, one more week after today. Um, so I chose this week's movies. Um, this one is not a Christmas movie and I don't know why it's lumped in Christmas, but the holiday. Um... This shit looks so, like, tiny. When I looked it up, I was like, I'm not gonna bother watching this.
00:21:34
Speaker
It's good. it's It's decent, but it's not a Christmas movie. It's going to 2006. Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, um Ed Burns, Katherine Hahn, John Kaczynski make cameos. um jane Same with James Franco, Lindsay Lohan, and does Dustin Hoffman has a pretty funny cameo too. um Hal Douglas, the 80s and 90s movie trailer voice guy in the world. He's in this. no um For what it is, it's basically
00:22:06
Speaker
yeah um Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet what kate ones that lives in the UK. Cameron Diaz lives in Hollywood. All their love life is falling apart so they go online and they find this website where they can pretty much trade houses.
00:22:22
Speaker
So they both end up trading places, and and Kate Winslet goes to America, Cameron Diaz goes to Europe, and they end up meeting these two men. Kate Winslet meets Jack Black, and Cameron meets Jude Law, and they tell him about their love story. I don't even really think it's set during Christmas. Maybe there is a Christmas scene at the end, I don't know, but it's not really a Christmas movie. It's lumped into Christmas for some reason.
00:22:44
Speaker
It's an okay movie. It reminds me a lot of those like mid 2000s, like the notebook, but a little bit more comedy than that. Yeah. um but cannot any time right Came out right? Right around that time, 2006, yeah. um But this movie was really good. I know you watched it a couple years ago, I believe you said, Spirited, with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. This came on Apple TV in 2022, right after the pandemic. I believe this was delayed because of the pandemic.

'Craven the Hunter' Review and Future Speculations

00:23:11
Speaker
It was filmed a while ago. but um Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Rose Byrne has a cameo, Tracy Morgan plays Death. This is a retelling of The Christmas Carol. We'll get into that in a minute. um Octavia Spencer has a pretty chunky role. Judi Dench has a cameo in this. um The story is all about Marley from the Dickens' Christmas Carol story. Running a modern day, Christmas Carol inspired haunting agency. Will Ferrell being one of the three ghosts. He's the ghost of Christmas.
00:23:41
Speaker
Present and they try to change a bad person to seeing good in humanity the whole It beneath your screws thing in the Christmas Carol and this year in modern time Ryan Reynolds ends up being that case that they want to redeem and right on Ryan Reynolds playing Ryan Reynolds Ends up giving a hard time to Will Ferrell who's trying to do this and um He ends up sleeping with the ghosts of Christmas past, fucks up the whole entire format of how they do things. um Overall, really good movie. Second favorite Christmas Carol movie, I think, other than Muppet's Christmas Carol, which is always going to be my favorite, I think.
00:24:20
Speaker
I'm not a big fan of the other ones that have ever been done. But um Cool Twist to the true identity to Will Ferrell's character, I thought. um And a modern retelling of Dickens Done Right with Thought. Fresh new take on a classic. So yeah, good. It's on Apple TV, currently.
00:24:36
Speaker
Again wasn't wasn't there a Jim Carrey version like animated back like oh I did not do yeah I did not like that one. I was I didn't care for that either Yep, Scrooge is a classic though Scrooge ah not a big fan of that one either and I love Bill Murray, but yeah, not a huge fan of Scrooge, but This one's probably second. Scrooge is probably like fourth. Muppets is my favorite. Oh, you said Muppets? Okay. There's been like 50 iterations of this fucking story. Muppets is the best. Yeah, by far the music. Michael Caine playing Ebenezer Scrooge. It's just a great story. Did John Williams do the music for that?
00:25:13
Speaker
I think he may have, you're maybe right, I have to look into that, I think he may be right, yeah. um So, this it all boils down to this, people. We've got some news on this, we're not gonna break the news to the very, very end of the show of of what's going on with the Sony universe, but we are gonna review this movie that came out today, Craven the Hunter. Now, you know our feelings on Sony movies, you know our feelings on the Spider-Man movies, without Spider-Man, they suck.
00:25:44
Speaker
This is no exception to that. We already know that going in. There are parts to it that I do like more than the majority of the Sony movies so far. Maybe ever. um Number one, Russell Crowe played a better craven the hunter than Aaron Taylor Johnson. He did The Voice. He did. the He did. If he was 20 years younger, he would have been craven by like by a mile. He would have done a better job.
00:26:14
Speaker
um The choice to go American with Craven, I thought was weird. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, you were talking about doing voices for British people doing an American voice. He's done American voices forever. Way back in Kick Ass, every movie he's done, he's done an American voice. this This time he chose to do it too. For some reason, he didn't do the African voice or the Russian voice. I don't know why.
00:26:37
Speaker
um He just did with straight American um his brother in the comic books is of course Chameleon we get the reveal of that at the end We'll talk about that in a minute, but we see Calypso who's played by Ariana Dubois who was in West Side Story She's in Hamilton. She's been a whole bunch of musicals um She plays Calypso who in the comic books in the cartoon from the 90s. She is the love interest of Craven and She ends up being killed or hurt and since Craven on the rampage that ends up going on his hunts and and killing people and being a villain That's basically what his villain origin story is Calypso is injured or hurt killed can't remember exactly what happens to her but he ends up going nuts and Goes crazy and starts killing superheroes and spider-man being one of them um that whole entire love story was missing from this and
00:27:25
Speaker
um Awkward shooing into the character's comic book name at one point, um, Russell Crowe, the father of Craven and, um, Dimitri says, talking about Dimitri, he's always been somewhat of a chameleon. And I was like, oof. Strike one for me already is like, I hate when they do this, because they did it throughout the whole entire thing. They did it with Craven, they did it with him, they did it with the Rhino, these, these Just throwing the names in there. Randomly the superhero names. I thought it was odd and weird. um The foreigner. um Is he a real comic book character? Yes. Does he have powers in the comic book? No. The foreigner in this story...
00:28:07
Speaker
kind of had this weird like mind control where he slowed down time and he would end up killing people when they were kind of in a trance. It's kind of what I gathered from it. Yeah. um He is a real mercenary in the comic books related to this whole entire Craven story, I guess, but is it's like he hypnotized people and then did whatever, which isn't comic accurate at all. No. From what I know.
00:28:30
Speaker
ah the tranq dart he craven gets hit by a tranq dart he ends up having hallucinations foreshadowing spiders he has spiders crawling all around him i guess i'm guessing that was there purposely to depict a fear of spiders for spider-man going forward if they were ever going to continue this um And the Rhino I do have a picture of the Rhino. It's all over the internet. Everybody knows what he looks like This is the final form of the Rhino um Not impressed number one. He looked just like I mean the way they did this character was a mutation very strange Doesn't look like anything out of the comic books doesn't even look like the TV show nothing um But we didn't get the mechanical Rhino, so I don't have a lot to complain about um What's going on? Did you change that?
00:29:14
Speaker
There was no image for Rhino. It was creature. Oh, I thought I had it. There we go. um But yeah, um he was played the chameleon. We talked about him. He's a brother of ah he's a brother of Craven.
00:29:30
Speaker
He's played by the Crazy Twin Emperor in Gladiator II. I realized that about 10 minutes in, I was like, oh yeah, that's the Crazy Emperor from Gladiator II, the one who played the brother to Joseph Quinn. I think the thing that this movie did, it used D-list characters, debuted them, like the Chameleon, like Rhino, did them probably the best of any of the Sony movies, where they hadn't really touched any of the D-list characters, or didn't debut any other characters from Spider-Man, and he has a lot of villains they could debut, like this.
00:29:58
Speaker
um I believe chameleon was probably the best of this movie um But the ADR which is getting a lot of after I've wrote this down I saw a lot of people were talking about it, too ADR is where they replace the audio in post-production because you can't hear it on the microphone when you're recording um Was horrible and it was the first time I've ever really noticed it in a movie and this was voices Voices didn't line up with the mouse. It was pretty awful. so Sometimes it was like watching first times Dubbed version of something it was not good, right? The first time I noticed it was Ariana de Broglos just talking to Craven and Craven's HUD and you could tell like at some points I think that CGI was manipulating her mouth too that they were trying to Manipulate the line it up. Yeah, and line it up It looks fucking weird and this first time I've ever noticed that it looked the lip-syncing was mismatched overall
00:30:54
Speaker
It's a funeral for a franchise where we're going to get into at the very end of the show that I'm not surprised that people are not, are not liking this movie. I wasn't really too high on it. Two and a half out of five for me. Um, I liked some of it, but the story just went nowhere. The story itself, like no love story, no, no emotion to it. Um, acting was kind of, eh, here and there. Um, I liked some of the characters, but they weren't really developed. I liked, the I liked probably, I like, I said, I have all of them, the chameleon character.
00:31:24
Speaker
He actually did have the mask at the end, but again, they they chalked it up to being of some sort of a mutation that he went to New York to go to a doctor to get, which I thought was weird because it was all technology based in the comic books and in the TV show back in the 90s. But um overall, two and a half out of five for me, and that's probably being generous. i I think this is the second Spider-Man Sony movie I've seen in the theater. I think I saw Let There Be let there be Carnage. I saw that in the theater. but You didn't see the first Venom? Oh, no, that's right, because you were waiting. That was the first 4K you ever watched. I remember that. Yeah, yeah um yeah for me, every time Aaron Taylor-Johnson was on screen, it was like a three and a half. Every time he wasn't, it was like a one. Story is trash. Action was very good most of the times. I thought so too. I think if there was a better script, Aaron Taylor-Johnson would have been an incredibly good cast at Craven. I don't think yeah there was any issues with him.
00:32:18
Speaker
um You're right about the voice though, I don't really care about that because whatever. um It'd be kind of annoying to listen to him do a Russian accent for two hours in 15 minutes. That scene. The American accent must be really easy for them to do or something. Yeah. They fall into it so simple and so easy. Yeah. That's why he's doing it just because it's easy to act a two-hour movie that way. I don't know. Right. But it is simple I guess, yeah.
00:32:44
Speaker
And also, when they have to pick up for reshoots, you have to get back into the accent that you were using before. And it might not line up as well either, too. So that could be an issue with something like the Russian accent. But yeah, I mean, overall, like I said, every time he was on screen, it was like a three and a half. Every time he was, it was like a one, especially that everyone can look up the first eight minutes of this because Sony released it a week before the movie came out on YouTube. And after that eight minute action sequence, which is pretty cool,
00:33:13
Speaker
You get into a 25 minute backstory that could have been five minutes and could have just been just as impactful with the rest of the movie. When we do it all along. I looked at my watch, it was like 50 minutes into the movie and we're still in the we're still in the intro to Craven when he was a kid. I was like, wow. Yeah, it was awful the way they structured that. um I'll split the difference between when he was and when he wasn't on screen and give it a two and a half, just like you.
00:33:39
Speaker
um But yeah yeah we'll talk about we'll talk about the universe and at the end of the show. There's some big news that dropped this week. Do we want to see Craven show up in a Spider-Man like with Tom Holland? Do we want to see him continue in the into another universe? So we just want to put the nail on the coffin now and say be done with this character. Aaron Taylor Johnson as Craven. In a book accurate MCU.
00:34:07
Speaker
He doesn't even have to, he can just be the same, he can just be what he was by the end of this movie. um I would watch that in a second, um as long as the MCU is overseeing it. Because at the end of the movie, it kind of leaves it off like he's a villain. or he hes yeah has um Because his dad was always a gangster, and he may have those same tendencies, but he uses it in a different way.
00:34:27
Speaker
um That's kind of how the movie ends off it would be interesting to see if he comes into another universe if he does come into the Into this into the spider-man universe with Tom Holland and does the last hunt the big rumor being that um Of course the symbiote coming in maybe maybe we'll see that but who who knows we'll talk about that later on years to come but um With that being said, let's get into the news I
00:34:58
Speaker
And it's not a new symbol of the trailer roundup. Just one trailer to talk about, but it's pretty good and a serious I need to catch up on. And then we're going to do it before this movie comes

Upcoming Movies and Golden Globe Predictions

00:35:08
Speaker
out next year. But 28 years later, for some reason, do you know why they didn't do 28 months later? Did you hear? I heard there was an interview, but I didn't read it. Why they didn't they they've skipped from weeks to years. I think um because it's been so long.
00:35:26
Speaker
Like i think ah I think they've done this 10 years ago. and They probably would have done that, but right part of the reason is it's just been too long and I think they want to bring back Killian. Right. this This movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and this trailer was played before the movie last time we watched Ralph Fiennes and Jodie Coleman. Good cast. Good cast, yep. The trailer looks good. Looks good. So excited to get into this. The entire film, Sheldon and iPhone 15. iPhone, yep.
00:35:53
Speaker
yeah Yeah, excited. Excited to get into that universe. So we'll do that next year. That comes out in June, June 20th of next year. So, um, weekend box office last week, Moana two made 52 million. Wicked made another 34.9 million and Gladiator two made 12.5 million. Um, War of the Rings, War of Rohirrim faltered with 2 million from 3,000.
00:36:18
Speaker
3,400 screens, 31 territories and countries. Have they even been promoting this film? Because I haven't seen it. Not heavily. Not heavily, no. um um Yeah, Moana made $600 million, dollars hit the mark, um making it the sixth biggest movie of the year so far, only in two weeks of release. We knew it was going to be a big blockbuster. The other thing that a lot of people aren't talking about is Nolan re-released Interstellar on IMAX and it sold out everywhere. um And it made huge money. um I don't know if I have the exact numbers. ah Yes, 4.5 million ah dollars from ah only 166 screens.
00:36:58
Speaker
70 millimeter IMAX. um Yeah, the resale market for the tickets were going up to $300. That's how crazy it was. um ten Ten film screens alone had a staggering 70,000 per theater average.
00:37:13
Speaker
um No one is, I mean, that movie, it was released in IMAX when that first came out, right? Yeah, so it's just re-released in IMAX. Yeah, it's just re-released, yeah, because there's definitely IMAX. He started using IMAX with The Dark Knight. Right, right, yeah. This is the first movie shot fully in IMAX, I believe. Right, 10-year anniversary, everybody came out in droves, so that's pretty cool. Not a lot of people are talking about that, but it did top the box office last weekend.
00:37:37
Speaker
um We got some Golden Globe news. The nominations were released. Best picture in a drama. We got The Brutalist, which I've never heard of. Have you heard about that movie? I have. I've heard ah very it's good. ah Complete Unknown, which comes out in a couple of weeks. The Conclave. I've heard about it. I don't know much about it.
00:37:55
Speaker
um dune dune part two which we loved um i can't even read that what's that middle one do you know what that is i can't see uh what you're putting on screen so oh you can't see the stuff on you can't see oh that's weird oh that's strange it still says creature commandos for me oh that's weird yeah i have it on mine that's weird Um, and, uh, September 5th, I keep hearing good things about that movie. I don't know what it's about. I can't read the other one because the tomato thing is over it. I'm looking at the notes now. Yeah. Yeah. got yeah i Just follow along on the notes. I don't know why it's not showing up on yours, but, um, best picture musical and comedy, um, Amora, uh, challenges, which we both loved Amelia Perez, which I don't even know what that is. A real pain, the substance, which was weird to be in a musical comedy category.
00:38:40
Speaker
um and wicked which i think is going to win that by far i think wicked will win um the issue with the golden globes is in this these six nominations in no universe should challengers the substance and wicked be the same category for anything it makes no sense you you mentioned the substance but i mean the substance is kind of funny um and part but It's more it's it's but like it's almost like they take this movie that has like in two-hour runtime It hass has like four minutes of comedy and they're like musical or comedy I guess I mean it ends I guess with a musical show um There's musical shows within it, but in no way should those three movies be in the same goddamn category for anything
00:39:20
Speaker
Right, yeah. um Best animated motion picture, Inside Out 2, Moana 2, and Wild Robot, which I think is gonna take that, because Wild Robot, everybody loves that movie. yeah um Best drama series, Jackal, which I keep hearing about, The Day of the Jackal, um Mr. and Mrs. Smith, that's the one with Childish Gambino, Shogun, which I think is probably gonna win, and Squid Game. We'll talk about that in a little bit. ah Slow Horse is another show I keep hearing great things. I think that may be an Apple TV show. I heard great things about that too.
00:39:49
Speaker
Um, best comedy musical series, avid elementary, the bear, um, hacks, only murders in the building, the gentlemen. And I can't tell what that other one, they put the rotten tomato score right in the middle of it. But, um, we all know the bear is winning all the awards lately. Um, hacks hacks has been to, I think it won over, uh, the bear last at the last, uh, Emmys. So, um, you know, we'll see, uh, the penguin was nominated for three golden globe awards, best limited series, best actor.
00:40:18
Speaker
for Colin Farrell and Best Actress for Kristin Malady as Sofia. The other series that's in this category, ah Monsters, the Menendez Brothers Story, ah True Detective, The New One, and Baby Reindeer, which I think is probably going to win this category, unfortunately. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Baby Reindeer. It's like fucking phenomenal. It's phenomenal. you're You're one of the ones I've told me about. too yeah yeah ah Cinematic and box office achievement. A new category added last year Pretty much talking about the box office gold of the movie theater. um We've got Alien Romulus, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Deadpool and Wolverine, Gladiator 2, Twisters, Wild Robot, Inside Out 2, and Wicked. um Again, one of those things I think Wicked's probably going to take the crown for that.
00:41:06
Speaker
probably is but like This category is a weird one because it was like, yes do you have to hit a certain mark at the box office or have a certain amount of profitability?

Controversial Casting and Movie Announcements

00:41:15
Speaker
Or if it's just going to be biggest box office, then we already know who's going to win. um So it's going to be, hard I hope it's not just biggest box office. I hope it's just you have to hit a certain pedestal as far as Probably profit how much you spend on the movie, but um Yeah, we're just probably gonna clean house at a lot of awards ceremonies. I think so too. I think so, too Um Brett Goldstein right after we got off the pod last week being I to play Hagrin
00:41:42
Speaker
in the Harry Potter TV series. That's a huge role. um If he does pick that role up, that's awesome. We're gonna be seeing the casting in the next six months for this show. It's coming out in a couple of years. So um we're gonna be getting more official casting news for that in a few months to come. um Speaking of casting news, I wasn't a big fan of this casting. I know you're okay with it.
00:42:01
Speaker
Austin Butler cast as Patrick Bateman in the American Psycho remake we talked about yep I think we mentioned Jacob Bellardi would have been a great choice for me Austin Butler Elvis and bike riders were practically the same exact and you mentioned to me off pod and that it took him a long time to get out of the Elvis. i think Didn't you say that he went through it was with your like training to get out of that voice? get out he had to Yeah, because he he did the Elvis voice for like two and a half years before filming, which is why I think this is the perfect choice and out of the box thinking is that if he's dedicated to a role, and this is a role you need to be dedicated to, yeah Christian Bale went through the entire workout routine for about eight months before um that they ended up filming for the movie.
00:42:42
Speaker
um So I think Austin Buller is the perfect choice. I mean, he's a p psycho. writer Bike riders and Elvis, he both basically had to do a Midwest accent. So that's why he was the similar in both things. um And even when I guess he was filming Dune, one of the reasons why he wasn't in the first part is because of he was working on Elvis at the time.
00:43:00
Speaker
okay And I mean, he was just talking to them at that point anyways. But I think he can dedicate himself to do this role justice. I just hope it's good because it's not a remake we need. Although the book is much different. um Just as I was saying about the crow and look how that turned out. But the book is much different. So if they go a different route with the book um and say his day and age, you can probably go away with a lot of stuff.
00:43:26
Speaker
um That maybe you couldn't have. I mean, I know it's kind of weird. ah They're trying to, you know, but um I'm looking forward to it. I just hope. I just hope it's good. And it's not like we walk out of the crows. Like, why? Why do they do that? Right. Right. Another movie announced coming out in 2026. Evil Dead Burn. Next installment of the Evil Dead franchise. I know this is rebooted, what, 10 years ago.
00:43:50
Speaker
This is another continuation of that. Don't know anything about it other than it's Sam Raimi's original idea back in the 80s. And they've done a bunch of TV shows and movies from it. Final Destination, Bloodlines, a new movie coming out in 2025, May 16th. Just a few months. Those movies are fun. I like those movies. First one really good. I think that's about as far as I got, maybe the third one. All of them, because you had them all in your voodoo. I went through and watched them in October. I enjoyed them all.
00:44:18
Speaker
It's another movie announced another live-action remake for Disney Tangled which is I actually like the original Tangled movie animated CGI animation style um Coming out This is this original came out in 2010. Of course based off her puzzle Greatest showman filmmaker Michael Gracie is going to be in talks to direct the film. So ah yeah um ja Zachary Levi Shazam himself played the the lead in that the guy the prince so um Oscar ceremony, talking about awards are going to be live streamed on Hulu for the very first time. You're going to be able to see a live stream also airing on ABC still. Conan O'Brien is going to be hosting this year, coming out on March 2nd. Speaking of Conan, his mom and dad both died this week. His mom died three days after his dad. He is from Brookline, Massachusetts. I don't know if you knew that. I grew up in Massachusetts, went to Harvard. And I believe he was in the lampoons at one time, the Harvard Lampoon.
00:45:18
Speaker
But yeah, sucks ah losing two parents in one week with just days of each other. His dad was a lawyer. um His mom, I don't remember what she was doing, but yeah, sucks. This came out of nowhere this week, but Dark Side of the Ring season six coming up March 25th. Yeah, we don't know what the characters, we had some rumors of some of these stories, but they're gonna be continuing with the series. But we love this show and we're excited for a new season.
00:45:48
Speaker
It's the sixth season. I can't believe it's lasted that long. um Adam Sandler this week finally announced that Eminem's cameo is happening in Happy Gilmore 2 saying, I've known Eminem for a long time talking about way back when they did funny people with the Judd Apatow movie. And he is a great guy. He came in and was funny as hell. We hung out all day with him and shot and shot and shot. He said a million things we can use in Happy Gilmore 2 and we're glad we had him on tape. so yeah yeah i wonder if he's gonna be playing a character kind of like bob barker did in the original i think so i think he'll be at a golf celebrity golfer probably a like senior pga tour golf thing and he'll be paired up because he'll be younger than our sandler's character happy to go more so i think that'll be it'll be like it might even be like the reverse bob barker who knows he might even be an up-and-coming golfer
00:46:34
Speaker
um and i have no idea um and then we know it came ahead randomly but yeah um we know mjf we know mjf is in this the wrestler mjf we know travis kelsey is in this so we know there's going to be some sort of a celebrity um thing going on with this movie just not sure how uh coming out netflix sometime next year i Speaking of older movies being remade or giving sequels, um Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Terry Polo, Blythe Danner, all in early talks to star in an ex-installment of the Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers franchise. well um
00:47:10
Speaker
I'll take it. I like those movies a lot. I do too. The first one i think the french one I used to watch, the first one I used to watch was one of the first movies I had. Yeah, that was one of those like you can throw it on any time type movies like yeah Josh and Goodfellas, like as far as comedies like that, Happy Gilmore, any of those, yeah.
00:47:25
Speaker
And it was one of Robert De Niro's first comedy when he was like this and analyze this and analyze that was his turn into comedy. And he got to he got to use his acting chops and not even be comedic himself, just the way he is, because he's in this serious role is very comedic when everyone else is not being as comedic. And his chemistry with Ben Siller was off the fucking charts in this movie. It was amazing. It was amazing. It's incredible. Yeah. First of all, happy 99th birthday to Dick Van Dyke.
00:47:56
Speaker
I love Dick Van Dyke, of course, Mary Poppins. I used to watch the Dick Van Dyke show way, way back on Nick at night when I was a kid. He's been a part of our childhood and different dinner different iterations throughout, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a movie that he was in around um being remade um And it's coming off from Amazon, MGM Studios. um chin chi and bang bang Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was one of those movies I just cannot get into. It was like disney trying it was like a non-Disney movie trying to be Disney at that time. and Of course you had Mary Poppins. yeah i believe that I believe the guys who wrote the music for Mary Poppins actually did the music for this. It just did not hit the same mark for me. I was never able to get into it. but
00:48:39
Speaker
um Warhammer 40,000 we've 40k we've talked about this Henry Cavill being rumored to come in well, they finally finalized their deals and Amazon is going to be is going to be doing this series It's gonna be on television with Henry Cavill starring and playing of course We know there's a big huge fan of this franchise in the series a busy. He's a busy boy in our ah Geek fandom right now. Um, I'm hoping that I'm hoping that um they do another D and&D and get him in because we know he's a huge D and&D player also. um he He would be the perfect person to be in a D and&D movie also. Yes he would be. He could be any of those roles and be fantastic at all of them. So yeah, Henry Cavill's doing a lot of stuff. He's doing the Voltron movie now. yes Like he said Highlander. higher yeah He's doing way more work than when Dwayne Johnson's ex-wife was his agent, I'll tell you that much.
00:49:33
Speaker
That's right, yeah. I keep forgetting. I always forget about that. He didn't do Dick because he kept waiting on Superman to be like ready to go again. He did Mission Impossible, and like two or three other smaller films, but he never took on big roles like he's doing now. um So I'm glad. I'm happy. I hope his career goes swimmingly.
00:49:52
Speaker
Yeah, me too. Yeah, me too. i think he as long as As long as Superman's a big hit and in July, he's otherwise willing to hear from a certain fan base about how he let the great Henry Cavill go, and i do not I'm not ready for that. I'm not ready you're ready for that. I'm not ready to listen to that either. I'm just glad that he's doing well. It seems like he's his career is picking up again, so that's good.

Documentary Revelations and DC Universe Updates

00:50:14
Speaker
um From the makers of Civil War comes a new movie called Warfare. I don't know anything about this movie. Poster just came out. Trailer comes out sometime next week. Joseph Quinn is in it. I know that. um There's somebody else being in there. I can't remember who the other guy was. but um warfare um And the same guy who did all the war stunts and choreography or whatever it's called for, Civil War, has done it for this movie as well. um Alex Garland coming in, directed that ah direct direct to Civil War of course, directing this. So, new trailer next week, we'll talk about that.
00:50:49
Speaker
um New movie announcement came out today. Anne Hathaway and Dave Batiste are going to star in a new, untitled comedy ah film following the true story of two FBI agents who pose as a couple to infiltrate a global criminal enterprise, which culminated at a stage wedding in New Jersey.
00:51:07
Speaker
um Dave Batista getting a lot of roles, a lot of drama, a lot of action roles, a lot of romance roles now. So Dave Batista, I think, like we mentioned before, I think he's probably one of the best wrestler turned actors ever. Oh, he's acting. Just acting wise. far the best actor of all of them. John C is probably his second, but he's just kind of the same and everything, but that same works. um The Rock is also the same and everything, and that's hit or miss depending on the project. Yeah. Announced today by Disney.
00:51:38
Speaker
Did coming on Disney plus Malcolm in the middle in a revival and they actually had videos of Bryan Cranston Jane Kaczmarek and Frankie Muniz all announcing this and they're all coming back um Frankie was on Rosenbaum's podcast this week. Yes. That was probably recorded weeks ago. But the things he has to say about Bryan Cranston, of course, I'm in the middle of my bad rewatch now. um He just sounds like the coolest guy. Frankie said he was like he's basically my father because we spent so much time together for the entire time and he acted like it.
00:52:13
Speaker
on and off the set. They still keep in contact. He goes, because Frankie does NASCAR now and almost died like two weeks ago. yeah um But I guess he still goes to like two or three of his his races every year and stuff like that. So good on them. It seems like they were very close on set and I've never seen a single episode of that show. I used to watch, I used to be honest after something else, but have it on in the background. I never watched a single one. The only thing I remember was how funny Bryan Cranston was.
00:52:41
Speaker
Right. And then watching him in Breaking Bad and seeing, holy fuck, yeah how did that guy become that guy? i knew him from You knew him from Malcolm Middle. I knew him from like four terms of Steinfeld, where he played a dentist. um cause i'm It was like season three or four was going on. I was like, wait a minute, a Seinfeld guy? That's him? You're like, yeah, I think. I don't know. oh yeah god That's when I started watching. But yeah, so maybe I'll watch him Malcolm in the middle and get ready for this reboot.

Yeah, it's kind of interesting they're doing that. But I can see it happening, seeing where their lives are 10, 20 years later. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, we talked about a few weeks ago that they're going to be doing a movie together with bringing back Sean Levy. And the movie is going to be called Boy Band. It'll tell the story of former boy band members reuniting as middle aged men. This does sound interesting. Interesting to see where that goes. And andtra and yeah, very, very excited to see that.

Finally got the casting of the two Beatle members in the Beatle of San Mendez biopics that I care about. ah Paul Muskell officially announced as Paul McCartney and Joseph Quinn officially announced as George Harrison, who was my favorite Beatles. So, um, and we mentioned there's only one that hasn't been announced and that was, um, um, John Lennon. And we mentioned it was the guy who was in the iron claw. Yes. That's allegedly going to be playing him. Right. Um, who's a lie from the Beatles is is just George Harrison and Ringo. No, ringo that's he's the one I always forget. Ringo, Ringo and Paul. yeah
00:54:11
Speaker
oh paul yeah george aton died cancer twenty years ago and john okay that's it okay cool nineteen couldn't remember gotcha um They found a storage unit in California this week south at San Fernando Valley with unreleased Michael Jackson tapes in this story, 12 unreleased tracks all it all recorded around the time of dangerous yes nineteen eighty nine nineteen ninety which is is probably my favorite michael jackson album based on the fact that it was the first one i listened to
00:54:43
Speaker
um as it came out or like around the time it came out right yeah So I'm not sure if this will ever see the light of day, um but they found it and this stuff was thought to be lost, I think at one point. um So we'll see what happens with that. They should release it around the time of the movie, put it on vinyl, put it on whatever DB, not DVD, but CD, put it on iTunes around the time of the movie, if they're going to release it.
00:55:07
Speaker
yeah can't wait for that movie by the way um the pair of ruby slippers i think we talked about it on the pod um there are two pairs of ruby slippers the ones of the smithsonian are a left and a right foot from two different pairs these ones when on auction are the i believe the opposite pair. they They're actually the left and rights of the other side. So in other words, there are two separate pairs. one There's two pairs in the in the Museum of Smithsonian and these ones went on the of the auction this week.
00:55:38

made on Saturday last week in a memorabilia auction, made one of the most amount of monies ever made for memorabilia ever. $28 million dollars for a private sale, of course. um im Not sure who bought them, if they're going to go to a museum or not. No idea where they came. I don't know where they came from, but um that's stat. That's just unbelievable. $28 million dollars for a pair of... Imagine just having $28 million dollars laying around.
00:56:07
Speaker
We're like yeah, yeah, I could I could go for that well thing about it is people buy these and they'll rent them out to people like to To use or to display in their museum So they get money if they if they rent it into a museum the museum will pay them. They'll get back over time But yeah, those are old. I mean they were talking 1939 that movie came out. Yeah, almost a hundred years old so and they're not rubies they're just sequins but um uh only one thing of swag this week but i thought it was pretty cool swag stuff we all get come on son you know that's right brand new book the real ghostbusters of visual history it's gonna come up with a whole bunch of cool pictures and memorabilia from the from the series in the 80s um they're gonna have a deluxe edition it shaped like the firehouse from ghostbusters i love this show i mean we grew up on it so i'm very excited to see uh see what this book ends up being but um

The Jeremy Allen White in a weird casting choice um is joining the Star Wars Mandalorian and Grogu movie, playing the voice of Jabba the Hutt's son, Roto the Hutt. yeah Isn't job of the hunt, don't they, they don't speak common. They speak in an alien language, how to ease, I think it's called. So is that what he's going to be doing? Or is he going to be doing accent? I'm assuming he was, I believe the son was on, was the son in clone wars or maybe rebels? so One of those. Yeah. Um, he was in Phantom Menace too. He was at Phantom Menace too. yeahp yeah
00:57:40
Speaker
um i saw i put I think I posted it on my private on my private Instagram. There's a video of, I believe it may have been Clone Wars or Rebels and when you're talking about, and they put his voice into Jabba the Hutt talking, or Roto the Hutt talking. I thought it was funny because it was him and the bear bitching and complaining to the kitchen staff. I thought that was great.

um Dynamic Duo, announced today by James Gunn, coming out on June 30th of 2028. Animated film is going to follow the Robin's Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, um written by Matt al Alsreich and produced by Matt Reeves. I'm not sure what universe this is set in. it I don't believe it's Matt Reeves universe. um But James Gunn's quoted as saying, this is something special. This is his show.
00:58:27
Speaker
I know Reeves is working with the DCU Batman stuff. Yes. ryan clay I think Clayface is one of those two that he's working with Mike Flanagan too. I think this will be in the DCU if I was to guess, or unless they boot up like a DC animated studios, it would be under that obviously. But I do think this would be technically canon to the DCU is my guess.
00:58:49
Speaker
from what we know about this we know it's animation but it's also puppetry and there was something else it was CGI puppetry animation and there's something else uh claymation i can't remember what it was but uh yeah i'm going to use a whole bunch of different aspects of animation styles to to tell the story good of ah the original robin so yeah i'm speaking of dc dc movies um the clay face movie officially underway at dc studios mike flanigan coming in to write it um announced by james gunne just about an hour and a half ago um that it was coming out in 2026 the exact date september 11th of 2026
00:59:25
Speaker
um Yeah excited about that. We haven't seen him in creature commandos yet, but we know he's in there clay face Great Batman villain um all about reminds me of the substance ah chemical to make somebody's beauty but the chemical goes wrong and Turns him into a big clay monster. So yeah um This this I think we might get our first look at DCU Batman in this project and this will be a leaping pad for the DCU Batman Okay, kind of makes sense. That's just a thought. Um But yeah, he says it's going to be like an emotional drama. Like it sounds like it's kind of like what we want out of like the Mr. Freeze arc. The way that I mean, this this is, of course, a tragic figure Clayface. They could also go to the classic. He was an actor route who becomes a murderer. yeah um So under water how's that's yeah that's more noir. yeah Yeah. Yeah. All depends on where Flanagan decided to take the story. I mean, I think he wrote it a while ago, so.
01:00:19
Speaker
Yeah, because they did that. What was that? um What was that Cape Crusaders? Is that the animated show that came out in Amazon Prime this year that they did that with? Yeah, yeah that was a good that was a good episode. yeah um The big rumor is that next week, hopefully before we record, because it's going to be our last episode of the year, the Superman trailer is going to be released sometime in the next week.

Marvel and Sony: Future Film Expectations

01:00:40
Speaker
Yep, we're passing it according to Jeff Snyder who I don't like to source very often, right? Um, but he does pick up a lot of news um What's that? I heard crypto was the focus of the trailer. I heard that too But yeah, apparently there's like a a test screening for press on Monday and then it could be any time after that That's what I heard potentially after creature commandos are on Thursday sometime midday oh So we'll see um And it'll be interesting if I think going with the crypto thing would be a great idea if they want to make sure they are fully separated from any version of the character they ever had been before, um which is what you need to do when you're starting off this universe anyways. But then again, it cryptos only in the rear five or 10 minutes.
01:01:27

I think it'll be more like a teaser. I don't think it's going to be much of a trailer. I think it's going to be a teaser to put in front of Mufasa and Sonic because it's like we know this movie is coming, but a majority of people do not that aren't on the internet all the time. So I think that's an idea to put into the comparison. The comparison I heard is a comparison of what the first Barbie trailer. Yep. The Barbie. Yep. That's what I heard. So and that movie made a billion. And I think a lot of it is because of that trailer or that teaser. Yeah.
01:01:56
Speaker
um Empire magazine had a new new cover art for Captain America brave new world new poster came out today new little mini trailer came out today as well Movie comes out in two months. So I'm kind of excited about it, but we've heard a lot of trouble with this movie ah love right yeah love The amount of reshoots is fucking staggering yeah that pisses me off and I think it's awful and I I hope it doesn't kill the movie like it pretty much did Craven. Big part of Craven was all the reshoots too. yeah know at all We'll see. yeah we'll see we'll see yeah um Ryan Reynolds filmed some sort of a Christmas thing. We weren't sure what it was. um it was ah it was a It was a Christmas ad for helping six sick kids. um It was Deadpool, Kid Deadpool in a Christmas sleigh.
01:02:45
Speaker
and But the the great thing about it is they brought Linda Carter, the original Wonder Woman, in to do a cameo in this little quick commercial, which I thought was pretty funny because she spins around like she's going to turn into Wonder Woman and she ends up wearing this this awful awful Christmas sweater. And they're like, what the shit is going on? but um Ryan Reynolds had a actor on actor conversation with variety with Andrew Garfield this week talking about Deadpool and and being a sport supporting character going forward in other MCU projects Saying that um he'd be happy to be the fifth banana and something like the gambit movie or another x-men movie um kind of downplaying It's gonna be somebody else's movie rather than doing another story on his own. They've already done them so um and
01:03:34
Speaker
This week announced right alongside Robert Downey Jr Chris Evans is definitely officially returning to Avengers doomsday um The initial idea they initially planned to return um with a standalone film with Haley Atwell They couldn't get the story right they couldn't get it nailed down as the exact quote So they are going to add him into doomsday which we kind of already figured also announced today Haley Atwell is returning to Avengers doomsday and So that must have been what they got the story story lined up to be. um Yeah, we'll see. We don't know what this movie is going to be. We know it's a culmination of everything. We know trying to rewrite everything that's gone wrong in the last four years since Endgame. um I've wanted to see a series of him bringing back the Infinity Stones, but I don't know if we're ever going to see that. Maybe that's the project that they couldn't get just right that they're talking about now, but.
01:04:25
Speaker
um Yeah, we'll see what happens. And finally in news, what we've been teasing from the beginning. The Sony Spider-Man universe is officially dead. Gone. um Craven the Hunter was the last film. um And they're going to be, at the studio of Sony is going to be focusing on Spider-Man 4. Across the Spider-Verse, which number one, still doesn't have a date.
01:04:47
Speaker
the filming of the voice actors have not has not been done yet. So this movie was supposed to come out what seven months ago, March of this year, and they were not on track to get that date at all. And we're not sure when this is going to come out could be another two years from now. original We were told that everything was pretty much done on it.
01:05:05
Speaker
um They're just waiting a year to fix up some animation and now all of a sudden we find out that the the voice actors haven't recorded so far behind Yeah, we'll see. I don't know if Sony's actually going to be done with these movies Due to the fact for how much money they've they've made they're done for now because they're gonna focus on these next three projects But I mean they still after everything have made well over seven hundred million dollars even with the flops within this universe um I believe they made like 2.6, their take-home was 1.7 after paying out theaters. um they They still make a lot of money off. um
01:05:42
Speaker
working with Marvel also. They made like 500 million from No Way Home, stuff like that. um So I think they're just kind of putting a pause on it for now. um But we could see more of this slop in five years. Who knows? Yeah, and we'll see. um And the other thing we don't talk about ah too much, we we should be talking about is there's a Spider Noir, Spider-Man Noir show coming out too on Amazon, which I'm very excited about. Nicholas Cage playing Spider-Man, but um That's it for the show. this That's it for news. Next week, the final episode of 2024. We're taking a break Christmas week because the industry takes a break, so there's not going to be a lot of news. We're taking off the the week of Christmas. um First off, we're going to talk about our top movies, TV, and moments of 2024.
01:06:24
Speaker
Um, we have letter boxes making it a little bit easier this year for us. Um, Christmas movie, you've been teasing it all year. We're going to watch the holdovers also this week. I think that might be best if we do that on our return episode because it takes place from literally when we take a break through when we come back. That's the entire like time that we take place. Um, so we'll talk off pod about which actual like Christmas movie we'll watch this week.
01:06:47
Speaker
Well, I'm gonna watch Red One, for sure. Red One came out on Digital yesterday. Okay, yeah. Red One, we're definitely gonna watch. There's also another movie with Ben Stiller called Nutcrackers. I believe it's on Apple TV. That just came out. I know I'm gonna watch Red One, for sure. Yeah, we're definitely doing Red One. And we got, we got a Heretic to watch and Venom, so. Yeah, Venom. That'll only be good, then just watch. Yeah, so.
01:07:13
Speaker

Shrinking episode 11 next week, Dune Prophecy, we're probably done with that at least for now could be umketon skeleton crew episode four i to say this about dune um It's like Christmas time and that is the least Christmas thing to watch. I wish they just released it in January. timing yeah all time i wish I wish they released it in January. It's still doing great numbers, but um I'm just not in the mood to watch something like that now. now.
01:07:44
Speaker
so ah Skeleton crew episode four creature commandos episode four and Dexter every Friday so We can talk about the second episode next week. um and Then we come back in June 3rd We'll talk about basically the preview of the of the year of Superman next year 2025 the road to Fantastic for everything that's gonna happen next year.
