Introduction and Personal Updates

Speaker
Keeper. Where we talk about it all. From superheroes to wrestlers. We stand tall. We're and Kevin. The dynamic duo inside.
00:00:42
Speaker
Keeper.
00:01:25
Speaker
Hey! Hey, what's going on, Raymond? How's your week? Not too much, and I see a familiar background. Kevin is back home. Yes, yes I am. How was your trip?
00:01:36
Speaker
Good, good. I started peeling from the parts of me that did get sun. Um... So have to obviously use lots of sunscreen on my truck. Yes, so do I. White people like us do not do so well in the heat.
00:01:50
Speaker
No, um definitely not. A lot of SPF 300 going around.

Tribute to Kevin Castle

00:01:55
Speaker
um I meant to bring this up to you on the before we started, but I'm just going to a quick... um As you know, Kevin Castle died this week. Yeah, I did. let saw that. When 2007 came around, I started watching wrestling again.
00:02:10
Speaker
In about the three years, I really hadn't kept up with wrestling. um I think it was Chris Jericho was coming back or something, wanted me to watch Raw. And so I did. And in those three years, podcasting had become a thing.
00:02:22
Speaker
Yeah. He and Don Tony started their quote-unquote podcast in 1999 when it was just a call-in line. Like you paid like a buck 50 and you got like an hour and a half long show. Be it to like listen over the phone. Um, that was the first podcast i ever listened to while I wasn't a huge fan of Don Tony. I loved Kevin's insight into eighties wrestling. Mostly. Um, the guy was in the cyclopedia.
00:02:43
Speaker
Um, like his brother said, he could have been Dave Meltzer if he wanted to, like he could have been one of those guys, the historian type guys. Um, but yeah it's real sad. He was 56 years old and his favorite wrestler, which he talked about all the time.
00:02:56
Speaker
Well, Al Perez was one, but I think that was more of a joke. I remember him talking about him, yeah. And the Ultimate Warrior. um He died 11 years almost to the day of Ultimate Warrior. Ultimate Warrior died, would have been the next day.
00:03:12
Speaker
um But yeah, it sucks for the podcast community. um Wrestling internet, it's... When he passed, it was like, he was kind of living his gimmick of like an online wrestling guy, but he wasn't really taking care of his health. And he had a lot of health issues.
00:03:27
Speaker
um apparently, which I found out about after, like six weeks ago, he had a heart attack and whatnot, um and kind of passed away suddenly. um His last text to Don Tony was, sorry, i can't make the show tonight.
00:03:39
Speaker
I love you. I'll make it up to you next week. And then he died two hours later after sending that DM. um But the one thing that I'll always remember about him is around 2011 when Dusty got married, our good friend.
00:03:51
Speaker
Um, I needed something to listen to on the plane. So I downloaded like three or four old episodes. I hadn't to of their show. One of them happened to be the night of Benoit, uh, Memorial on raw.
00:04:02
Speaker
Yes. It was a three and a half hour show. Um, their podcast. And as their podcast started, it was still in remembrance of Chris Benoit. And as the podcast unfolded, the details came out and there was like five guys on that podcast that night. And it was just, it was an incredible like experience to kind of listening to it like live as it happened, even though I didn't listen to live as it happened. It was four or five years later. Yeah.
00:04:26
Speaker
Yeah. It was a great podcast. i Until about 2016, I used that to keep up with wrestling. If something sounded interesting, I would jump back in or out, whatever. um But yeah, RIP to Kevin Castle.
00:04:37
Speaker
a lot of wrestlers have reached out to his brother from WWE. um Like I said, he was trending the next day, which is it's one of those situations where I don't think he felt loved. Like he didn't know how loved he was in the community until after he had passed.
00:04:52
Speaker
That show was huge. Even I listened to it like a decade ago. It was huge. And they had signs out in the audience. People were. even. Don Tony, Kevin Castle signs in the audience. Yeah.
00:05:02
Speaker
Even when they had trouble, like, Mish and Don Tony don't speak anymore, but they did do a Remembrance show after Raw on Monday. Kevin Castle and Don Tony didn't talk for like, two or three years, but they had the channel. I remember that. basically, what Kev would do is he would do, like, Patreons, and he would go for, like, his last Patreon was last Thursday. He did a four-and-a-half-hour Patreon, like, live stream.
00:05:22
Speaker
Um, it's just, it's what he loved doing. And I think he was so depressed that, that giving this to the fans is what he wanted to do the most. um they' were supposed to have a meetup like four or five years ago and he was so ashamed of his body and everyone was like, where's Kev, where's Kev? And his brother was like, I don't know. He's like, these are wrestling fans. We're talking about nobody's in shape. That's coming to, to see us talk. Like not a single person. This crowd is a bodybuilder.
00:05:47
Speaker
Um, But yeah, it just sucks. um i just want to get that out of the

Geeky Show-and-Tell

00:05:50
Speaker
way. And yeah wrestling podcast will be, he'll be missed. Yeah, it was huge. i remember that i remember that show. And then then I, got of course, got into wrestling soup because that. wrestling soup was fun, yeah.
00:06:00
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. I had no idea Missionaria wasn't talking to them. Yeah, neither did I until last night when Draper had us Pip-On Media. He does his own podcast on Thursdays. And they were talking about, there was whole show dedicated to Kev.
00:06:12
Speaker
And they were talking about that Mish doesn't really talk, like he'll talk Don Toyn, but they don't do shows together type thing. and Okay. so look Cool. Yeah, rest in peace to Kevin Castle. um We are at the beginning of the month, sort of, week out, but we're going to do a show and tell.
00:06:32
Speaker
So many geeky things that we could pull off from the show. We've been collecting shit for years and now we're whipping
00:06:45
Speaker
So it's time to showcase all the money that we wasted well. C'est la vie, c'est la vie, old folks. Let's go, Swim Show, we're down.
00:06:56
Speaker
I'll let you go first. I don't think I've ever done this one, but if I did, we were not on YouTube yet. Which we should have waited until we got on YouTube to start this segment. I'll probably end up running some things back at some point. It's fine. But, yeah got this for Christmas probably about ten years ago.
00:07:14
Speaker
Camp Crystal Lake Encyclopedia. um i don't think you have shown that. This book is a big bitch. um It's a great coffee table book that basically details everything from the first to the last Friday 13th movie.
00:07:28
Speaker
They did do a documentary based on this book. They interview all the cast. There's scripts. There's director interviews, everything. Wow. um They did that in the seven and a half hour long documentary, which we will watch at some point, not october some October, where we can just watch it throughout the month and then maybe talk about the end of the month or something like that. Because it is seven and a half hours, but it's a fantastic documentary.
00:07:49
Speaker
But yeah, Camp Crystal Lake Memories. It's a great book. Lots of stories from the cast and crew. Awesome. And that takes every movie pretty much up until 10 years ago. ye Even ones that didn't get made. Wow.
00:08:00
Speaker
yeah Wow, that's cool. I also have a book. I also have a big book. But mine may be a little bit bigger than yours. Next week, since we are in, what,

CinemaCon Highlights

00:08:13
Speaker
April?
00:08:14
Speaker
We're talking about Superman a lot. Next week we're going to talk about Fantastic Four. And we're going to read three comics. I've been mentioning it for a while. The Galactus Trilogy. Well... I found out that they have a collected edition. I'm really hoping that this will show Turn off your background, bro. Turn off your background. Hold on.
00:08:33
Speaker
Fucking background. Hold on a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. kick For now. offset There we go. This is the Fantastic Four Behold Galactus.
00:08:44
Speaker
um nice giant size oversized comic. Not only does it have the three. I've seen a lot of those. When went to the store this week I saw a bunch of stuff. not only Not only do they have the first three but they also have one of Galactus Return like a decade later.
00:08:57
Speaker
Oh, nice. This is really cool. We're to reading these three comics, the first three. yes not nineteen sixty s Just text me the issue numbers and I'll get to them. 48, 49, 50? Oh, Fantastic Four? Okay. yeah um And that's just three individual comics, right?
00:09:12
Speaker
Yep, three comics ah quick read sixty comics. Quick read. Quick read. Yep. And we're yeah next week, we're also going to be talking Superman, because we skipped it this week. i won't get into why, because Kevin told me we can't talk about it on the podcast.
00:09:24
Speaker
However, we were supposed to watch Superman 2 and Donnerka, which we'll do that next week. But yeah, this comic, I cannot wait to dive into this. This but book is heavy as hell. It's almost as big as I am.
00:09:37
Speaker
doesn't. But yeah, I love Galactus. This is really cool Alex Ross cover. so um ah Last week when we left off, We left off with CinemaCon. First day, first couple of days.
00:09:49
Speaker
And we had a couple more days left to talk about some stuff that's coming out. And that's what we're going get into now. ah Wednesday, after we got off, we had the Universal panel.
00:10:00
Speaker
And we'll talk about a few things that they announced. ah Jurassic Park Rebirth. debuted a new trailer which wasn't shown online. um It was a fire-breathing T-Rex was the talk of this. that There's going to be a fire-breathing T-Rex.
00:10:14
Speaker
What we know about this movie is that pretty much the the
00:10:23
Speaker
misfit toys of Jurassic Park were put onto this island and they're going in to try to figure out all these mutated, mutated weird mutated, and gone wrong dinosaurs and they're going go try to figure out what's left there.
00:10:34
Speaker
um And Scarlett Johansson been talking a lot about this movie coming in, and she's been wanting to be part of the Jurassic World franchise, Jurassic Park franchise forever. um And she finally has become a part of it. But a fire-breathing T-Rex, that's interesting.
00:10:48
Speaker
i i think she I think she produced it. I think she's one of the producers on this film, too. She's been trying to get this made for a while. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, definitely. um How to Train Your Dragon, coming out in a couple months, they already announced 2027 release for the second one.
00:11:03
Speaker
They're going be doing a live-action remake of the second movie as well. um Got a new trailer, which I thought was really good for Megan 2.0. And I actually didn't mind the first movie. It's okay.
00:11:15
Speaker
Yeah, it's just like, it's like Chucky. um It's like a PG-13 Chucky. Yeah. It's okay. But they're doing a second one and Megan's going to be grown up. Literally, they're making her taller um and she's going to be working for the government.
00:11:28
Speaker
And there's weird trailer that's kind of on the picture on the right there. if you're watching on YouTube is what she looks like. They've kind of limited her into a, into like a a toy that you can buy in the store.
00:11:39
Speaker
um An AI toy. And then they and then they end have to end up using her to help the government. And that's what they have for the poster there, the tall one. um They're also doing a spinoff series.
00:11:51
Speaker
It's all about a sex doll called Soulmate. They talked about that a little bit. um And the sex doll gets obsessed with somebody. Right. The sex doll gets obsessed with the person and she ends up killing people that try to try to take her man pretty much.
00:12:04
Speaker
but makes sense That makes sense. I would rather watch that than Megan. That seems more up my alley. Me too. Steven Spielberg has a new UFO movie. I think I have a picture of him on set. um it's so It's described as a return to form and of his iconic sci-fi films.
00:12:19
Speaker
um And it has major twist. Emily Blunt, Wyatt Russell, Colin Domingo, um Colin Firth, Josh O'Connor, I don' know who that is, but coming out on June 12th of next year. Josh O'Connor is the dude from ah Challengers, the dark-haired kid.
00:12:32
Speaker
Oh, great. Yeah, I like him. yeah cool He's really good. Yep. um Nobody 2 sequel is going to be following Hutch, who is Bob Odenkirt, and his family as they go through vacation, and they're going to be, but for what from what they showed, it sounded like it was a theme park.
00:12:47
Speaker
So that's kind of interesting to see him fighting assassins in a theme park. It's not the same director. In fact, the same director from this movie is also doing the sequel to The Beekeeper, I found out. Okay.
00:12:59
Speaker
I'm really looking forward to Nobody 2. um I love the first movie. I'm really looking forward to Wicked for Good. They revealed the new trailer. Of course, we didn't see it yet. It's going to be a little ways out before we see it. But um we do see some first glimpses of the characters.
00:13:13
Speaker
Elphaba, she's, a and there's a lot of scenes with her and Dorothy, because I guess Dorothy's a huge part of the second part of the film. Mm-hmm. Um, and of course, uh, the flying with the monkeys and everything.
00:13:25
Speaker
I'm not going to get into the whole rundown. I do have here, but there's not much to talk about. Um, then we get into um Amazon MGM studios. Um, there's a new movie coming out called I play Rocky.
00:13:37
Speaker
um It's going to follow a young Sylvester Stallone and a dramatic journey it took to make the first Rocky movie. I've heard about that. ah sounds um I don't know who they're going to cast to play Sylvester Stallone, but it'll be interesting to see this movie take place. um Peter Fairley, Fairley Brothers, is going to direct it Yeah, going to be on Amazon.
00:13:55
Speaker
um Project Hail mail Mary. This is Project here Hail Mary is the one movie out of CinemaCon that everybody's talking about. um It stars Ryan Gosling. It's going to be a sci-fi movie where he's a character with an ET-type lovable alien named Rocky.
00:14:10
Speaker
um It shows a bylaw biology teacher who must travel through space after the sky sun begins to erode. Kind of an interesting topic. um And a lot of people say the trailer looked really, really good.
00:14:22
Speaker
um So yeah, interesting. um Also announced a new Thomas Crown Affair starring Michael B. Jordan. He's going to be directing it. um And if you've seen the original one with Pierce Brosnan, they're going remaking that. i think Wasn't that a remake?
00:14:36
Speaker
I think that was a remake of itself. Or it was based on a book maybe? like yeah I can't remember. I think it was a remake. You're right. Okay. um after the hunt julia roberts um and aia adabriere who is in the bear yeahp and andrew garfield he's gonna be playing a sexual assaulter uh to the girl from the bear um and he's still gonna be a villain i haven't seen him really in a villain role so it'll be interesting to see Mercy, Chris Pratt, man trapped in a chair who must prove to an AI courtroom in 90 minutes that didn't murder his wife.
00:15:10
Speaker
And that's that movie. Sounds like it's going to take place in real time, if that's the case. so Very, very, yeah, very much. um They released the new trailer for Masters of the Universe, saying it looks a lot like if you were to take the 80s cartoon and bring it to life.
00:15:24
Speaker
up Talked about so us Jared Leto looking like a really, really good Skeletor. He's a hooded figure, no face at the time. um But yeah, the costumes, the weapons, everything looked really, really cool from what they saw. um And Amy Pascal and David Heyman came out and talked about the next James Bond movie.
00:15:43
Speaker
yeah um Of course, we talked about it a couple weeks ago where they're taking over. David Heyman being the one who ran Harry Potter and Amy Pascal as Spider-Man, of course. Yep. You know what I kind of expected? Now imagine this.
00:15:55
Speaker
You're at CinemaCon. Yep. Lights go down. the Bond music starts playing. yeah Across the screen you see 007. And that flips and transitions to 2027. Even if they couldn't make the date, I think that would have got just, it would have been like 30 seconds and had the entire world talking and they would have won CinemaCon. This of course is Amazon's first CinemaCon because this is the first time they're dedicating to putting movies in theaters.
00:16:23
Speaker
CinemaCon's for theaters and I believe they said they want to put out like 14... or 10 movies a year in theaters, which is pretty aggressive. Yeah. Yeah. go yeah yeah Yeah. You definitely get the resurgence of theaters through CinemaCon, but it's all it's all promotion from them. Yeah. um So Thursday, we get to Thursday, and Paramount had ah had a thing. um First thing they were talking about, the domestic domestic distribution president came out talking about what he what he had an idea for bringing into theaters.
00:16:51
Speaker
um limiting Limiting trailers. In other words, not sitting a half hour before a movie and watching half hours of trailers. um No ads before the movies. Longer matinee times. Customized experiences. Daily deals. Discount Wednesdays in addition to Tuesdays.
00:17:08
Speaker
He's kind of mentioning all these things to get the moviegoer to go to the theater to entice them to go. there's There's a lot of other things that people have talked about in the past. um But yeah, it's it's interesting to see how that's going to change. but um The big thing that Paramount announced last week, which was fucking awesome. Yeah, it was.
00:17:27
Speaker
was the naked gun and Liam Neeson coming in, playing Frank Drebin Jr. No Frank Drebin. I think it's his name. Um, and, uh, yeah, trailer looked awesome and I was not expecting it to look this awesome.
00:17:41
Speaker
I was not either. The OJ scene alone was just the OJ scene, which I have a picture of there. The show, of course, all of these people in this movie are the, the, the, the sons and and daughter or sons, I think every character that was in the first franchise. Yes.
00:17:56
Speaker
and And they show the OJ guy there. And of course, they show a picture of OJ Simpson on the wall as as a as a plaque. And he's like, no, yeah no, no, it's great.
00:18:08
Speaker
No, definitely not. oh But yeah, a great trailer. I'm actually really looking forward to that movie now. um We talked about the Armie Hammer movie, The Dark Knight. and how the hell that was going to get through the Warner Brothers legal department. And of course they did change it to the Citizen Vigilante.
00:18:24
Speaker
That's what they changed the name of it to. I don't know anything other than Armie Hammer being a cannibal. I don't know anything about this movie. It's it's so some some sort of a shoot-em-up thriller movie. He's a good actor.
00:18:35
Speaker
Sucks that he's weirdo. He sucks that he's a weirdo. Good quote of the night. Edgar Wright's Running Man debuted some new footage, new trailer. glen plow again Glenn Powell starring as that.
00:18:47
Speaker
course, a remake from the one with um with Arnold way back in the day. um Coleman Domingo, ah Michael Sear are in there. Yeah, i'm interesting. i'm I'm interested in that movie. I don't only think i've I've seen the first one, but i know about it.
00:19:00
Speaker
um They also announced that the Kendrick Lamar, Matt Stone, Trey Parker movie is going to be a musical comedy. It's going to be out. I think they delayed it i think I may have it in the news. It was supposed to be July 4th, and it's not anymore.
00:19:12
Speaker
Yeah, they delayed it. um But yeah. ah First trailer for Roofman. ah Channing Tatum is a polite thief who robbed 60 McDonald's and lives in a Toys R Us after escaping from prison.
00:19:24
Speaker
Also starring Kirsten Dunst, Peter Dinklage, and Lakeith Stanfield. Is this a true story? Because I feel like I've heard about somebody hiding in the McDonald's after robbing places before. I believe it is. That sounds familiar.
00:19:35
Speaker
I believe it is, yeah. Okay. um And to close out CinemaCon's Paramount panel, Tom Cruise came out. First talking about Val Kilmer, who just passed the day before, I believe, um a couple days before. And he wanted to take a moment. and he had like a one-minute moment of silence, I think, for the crowd. R.I.P. Dobbins.
00:19:55
Speaker
Awesome. um ah Yeah, yeah that's that's really good. Then they then they um they debuted, I think, some footage from the new Mission Impossible, which is confirmed to be the final one.
00:20:07
Speaker
We talked about a little bit about the legacy of that and leaving the franchise. Yeah. um And then we get to the end of the night with Disney. um We expected a lot from WB. We didn't even get a lot from Disney this time.
00:20:19
Speaker
um We did get some collectible stuff. We got some Thunderbolts, which comes out in a few weeks. Popcorn buckets, which I think we've shown some of these. I can't believe they had the limo. But they also were giving out in the audience to the crowd the Thunderbolts Wheaties box with actual Wheaties inside of it.
00:20:35
Speaker
Oh, nice. And they started off the panel with a new poster for Lilo and Stitch, which looked really, really cool. It takes all the properties from Disney and kind of has Lilo going crazy. um Everything I've seen from this movie, I've never seen the original, but i i think I may want to see this. the um I'll talk about it later, but I don't know. This is the first time I think I saw Lilo is now in the...
00:20:57
Speaker
intro to the Regal movies. um Oh, yeah. On the the roller coaster there at the beginning. I think that might have been the first time I saw it. but Oh, that's cool. um We got the brand new first look of Predator Badlands.
00:21:10
Speaker
Everybody saw this picture and thought, well, it looks like a samurai. But it's not. It's an interesting concept what they're doing in this movie. that's the That's the logo there, by the way. Yeah. It stars El Fanning, um and it's going to be the Predator as the protagonist. He's going to be the good guy. comes out in November of this year, by the way.
00:21:27
Speaker
um And El Fanning's character is going to team up with the Predator, and um it's basically going to be set in other world, a whole other planet, whole other alien. It's bigger than the Predator are going to be hunting him.
00:21:42
Speaker
Very cool concept because you're also you always used to seeing the Predator on Earth and this is interesting see him on another planet, other species, are there other humanoids or whatever it'll be. Very interesting.
00:21:54
Speaker
Jared Leto came out, talked about Tron Ares, debuted a new trailer. think it came out later that night. um Looks great. It's the Tron universe coming into the real world with all the light bikes and everything. Looked really, really cool visually.
00:22:08
Speaker
The music done by nine Inch Nails sounded great. um yeah I cannot wait for this. um Deliver Me From Nowhere, the Bruce Springsteen movie. You got the first picture of Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen.
00:22:22
Speaker
um This comes out sometime, I believe, this year. and Maybe next year. I think they're currently filming it. um They debuted some new footage for Thunderbolts. We got a new poster. Kevin Feige came on video screen talking. He was on the set for Avengers Doomsday.
00:22:37
Speaker
um He said the whole entire cast has not been revealed yet, which is kind of already known. um He also said that it'll focus on the teams of the Avengers, the Wakandans, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the original X-Men all fighting Doctor Doom.
00:22:50
Speaker
um So then after that, they revealed to the audience, not to anybody else, the full trailer to Fantastic Four. And everybody says that Shallow Ball has a comic accurate looking like that.
00:23:04
Speaker
um big things of note confirm that Sue Storm is pregnant Reed has stretched the boundaries of space and that's what he thinks brought Galactus to Earth and we get the first look at Julia Garner as the female Silver Surfer um yeah I cannot wait for this to release I thought it was going be released on the 4th like everybody else was not um but we'll probably get it before Thunderbolts I think it'll probably play before Thunderbolts same with Superman Um, when the summer movie blockbuster season starts, this one will be getting some good shit, so.
00:23:36
Speaker
Um, Avatar, Fire and Ash. I don't think I have anything about that, but, uh, Fire people are going to be the main adversaries. ah The Ash people are our former Na'vi that are filled with rage.
00:23:49
Speaker
That's basically all they said. We'll park that down for like $1.7 billion on the low end. Yes. I think the most the coolest thing i've ever witnessed is in 3D watching the very first Avatar in the fire scene with the avatars coming down. It's one of my favorite visuals.
00:24:05
Speaker
And this is going to be a fucking three hour movie that's just going to be that. So this is the most I've anticipated in Avatar movie since the first one.

Sports Documentaries and Reviews

00:24:13
Speaker
In the IMAX first Avatar, seeing those helicopters flying by the screen. Yep.
00:24:21
Speaker
no No other 3D movie has done that to me. and I think a lot of people have tried to replicate that. It just has not has not happened. That was it for CinemaCon. um Not a lot of huge, big big stuff for us to watch, there's lot of news coming out of it.
00:24:36
Speaker
um and and We'll get some trailers. and Some of these trailers we'll be releasing in a few months here to come. so um Last week, I completely forgot to mention this. I watched i finished Paradise, the show Paradise. Yes.
00:24:47
Speaker
um Very, very good show. um Leaves up to a season two, which was picked up. And this week they added to the cast Timothy Olmason, who was Lassiter in Psych.
00:24:59
Speaker
yeah um Yeah, so that's interesting to see for seasons for season two. um Just wanted to mention that it's a great show. Sci-fi, set in a post-apocalyptic kind of world, kind of wondering what happened to the world outside.
00:25:12
Speaker
I don't want to give too much away, but yeah. um Daredevil episode 8 penultimate episode few things to happen Bullseye's jailbreak was awesome in this episode um Matt throws his head down on the table and he ends up getting a tooth loose and he uses a tooth almost as a bullet.
00:25:32
Speaker
It was fucking incredible. Which I believe happened in the comics because lot people were like complaining about it for some reason because people just like to complain because that gets clicks these days um and interactions.
00:25:43
Speaker
But I believe that happened in the comic because somebody was like, bro, that's like legit a panel from the comics, which is kind of cool. It might be a bullet in the comics, but using the tooth, I thought was very creative. Yeah, I really liked how it looked. um Fisk has a task force. I don't think we much mentioned much on the podcast, but he has this task force to take care of vigilantes.
00:26:01
Speaker
um And they are old bad police officers that are on his payroll and they're a menace and it's in this episode did a great job showing them um and at the very end of the episode matt murdoch saves kingpin from bullseye who's trying to shoot kingpin we don't know why we don't know the whole full story yet we know vanessa's a part of it we think he thinks vanessa's killed foggy but if you know the comic book Flocky may be alive and Vanessa many and may have been the one to fake his death, but that's all comic book lore. We're not sure if that's getting into the show or not, but, um, yeah, very cool. Uh, next week's the finale. We'll talk about that.
00:26:36
Speaker
Another very cool show, Celtic city. I love this show. That's all reason I watched a whole bunch of fucking winning time. yeah Um, beginning into a lot of sports lately, which we're going to talk about next week. We get into the red Sox documentary on Netflix, but, um,
00:26:50
Speaker
Talked about the 86 draft and Len Bias, who you brought up to me a bunch of times. Talked about a little bit last week. um Such a tragic story. Two days after he's he's in the draft, gets picked by the Celtics. He's picked basically to be the best player ever.
00:27:06
Speaker
Better than Michael Jordan. Larry Bird. Yeah, everyone thought he could be... rather than Jordan. Right, yeah. But he ended up dying, and they weren't sure what, and then the toxicology report came back, and sure enough, it was a cocaine overdose. Cocaine, yes. yeah um Bill LaMere and the Celtics-Pistons rivalry, that was but depicted great in this documentary.
00:27:28
Speaker
yeah um The Lakers' 87 Finals, I believe this was the last time they met Burt in... And was it the last time? But think might been the last time the magic won the championship Lakers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Till they might have won like 91 or something like that.
00:27:46
Speaker
or something like that um Kevin McHale, he had a foot injury that he was playing through. That was interesting to see him play through that. That all goes back to Len Bias dying. like He wouldn't have had to do that if Len Bias had lived.
00:27:59
Speaker
And of course, Bill Walton at the same time had his fucked up foot. So it was just a bad set of circumstances. They talk a lot about Celtic pride and and having that sense to when are we going retire or or having the Celtic pride to the point where he's not going to trade any of his main players. so The ones that are really, really good, red Red's not going to trade him.
00:28:21
Speaker
He wants them to retire Celtics, which I loved Danny Age. Um, being like, I remembered a lot about when I became GM, cause that's all Danny Ainge did is he would trade guys two or three years before their downfall just to get better draft picks.
00:28:36
Speaker
So he basically had the exact opposite feeling about that as well. Okay. Um, Danny, of course, being the one that traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, um, when they still had some life in their, their game. Um, but that's how he got Tatum and Brown. So,
00:28:49
Speaker
this episode was all about Larry bird, basically talking about how he was injured, injuring himself, throwing himself into this, literally throwing himself into this game. or he play um Balls out.
00:29:01
Speaker
Right. And by the end, by the end of it, he was, he was so bad. So, so bad off with his back and everything else that, um, they were trying to play, find replacements for him. Len bias was one. Reggie Lewis is another one, another tragic story. They're going get into next episode, but they did talk about hiring him.
00:29:18
Speaker
and then they ah And then they ended it with Larry Bird's retirement, which was great to see Magic Johnson show up at the end. Yep. um This is after, I believe, the AIDS diagnosis. So this was 92. Yeah, it was right before they went to the Olympics.
00:29:31
Speaker
Yep. But yeah, the one thing I was surprised i didn't that I didn't pick up on it if they did talk about it is Larry, like, yes, he played hard and whatnot and had a messed up back, but he messed up his back shoveling snow, like shoveling his mother's driveway.
00:29:45
Speaker
They didn't say that at all. That's literally how he messed up his back after the 86 season is he was shoveling his mother's driveway. And everyone's like, why don't you just pay for somebody to come plow it? And that's just not the way he was raised.
00:29:56
Speaker
That's how he actually hurt his back. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah, larry Larry Bird, they did a great job showing his career and what he did for the Celtics organization. I thought it was really good. Next week, we're to talk about the turbulent 90s.
00:30:10
Speaker
and when i The only Celtics game I ever went to was in the mid-90s, and it was when they were at their worst, and I had no idea. I just saw i just went to the Garden for the first time, yeah well, at the time, the Fleet Center, but.
00:30:22
Speaker
um Dark Side of the Ring. Ooh, iTunes. What the fuck are you doing? um Number one, we can't watch this week's episode. Big Van Vader. We want to see it. I love Vader. We can't watch it. But I did watch Ludwig Borga.
00:30:36
Speaker
I had no idea who this guy was. He worked for WWE very briefly. um But he was a he was a very bigoted person. um yeah um norway or sweden one of those um no one of those european countries i can't remember where he was from finland maybe um finland yeah yeah but uh yeah great story about him um he went into politics and his mouth got him into trouble um Yeah, and next week is, if we can get these episodes, I hope we can, next week is Tony Atlas, and we'll talk about that, and hopefully Dan Vader, too. um You have a movie that I wanted to see that you put on the yeah on the list here, A Working Man. Yes.
00:31:17
Speaker
I did not know if you wanted to go to the theater. It was just a last minute, I'm going to go to the theater because I haven't been in a month type deal. Yeah. But I enjoyed it. um It was fun. It was exactly the wanted. like You're not going to go to a movie like this and be like, oh, it's going to be fucking Dune part one or whatever.
00:31:34
Speaker
Written by still Sylvester Stallone based on a book called Levan's Trade, I believe. Directed by David Ayer, who, of course, I love David Ayer. um suicide squad but yeah it was it was very entertaining um it's much more violent than the beekeeper was and the beekeeper was pretty violent but the way he disposes of his enemies is more vicious in this movie um he is a one-man walking just fucking terminator basically um that that actually can die because he's a human but um michael panya is in this and it was nice to see him return to more of a
00:32:10
Speaker
more of a serious role. Like he is kind of funny cause it's Michael Pena and he's in the yeah man movies and I love him from that, but it's his daughter that gets kidnapped. so you get see a little bit more of an emotional performance that we haven't seen from him.
00:32:21
Speaker
in a while. oh But yeah, um overall, I'd say it's all three and a half out of five. um I mean, it's it's it's what you get. It's a two-hour movie about Jason Statham taking down a sex trafficking outlet that has taken his boss's daughter, essentially.
00:32:38
Speaker
And he has to go back into a period of his life in which he never thought he would return to um and break out all the violence. His boy, his man in the chair, um so to speak, is David Harbour.
00:32:50
Speaker
who's only in two... He's in three scenes, but they're all awesome because it's David fucking Harbor. Um, but yeah, like he's the guy that like, that, uh, Statham has to go and like get all his like weapon reef drum and stuff when he's about to go take a, take down this huge syndicate. And he does some, uh, he does some detective work.
00:33:10
Speaker
Um, yeah, overall

Mobland Series and Val Kilmer

00:33:12
Speaker
very solid. Um, I want to have you give your opinion on it when you get to it, which the way movies are going these days, it'll probably be next week. Yep.
00:33:21
Speaker
so yeah I've got a whole bunch of stuff on the docket but we're still backed up on Superman stuff so I'm not sure when going to get this stuff I was looking at ah movies and I was like War of Man Death Magazine and then I'm like ah Drop came out and then Warfare came out Sinners Sinners comes out next week which I cannot wait to see we're definitely seeing it Okay, good, good.
00:33:44
Speaker
And I want to see Drop next week, and I want to see Warfare next week. I'll let you know where I'm going to see if you want to go with want see Warfare 2. Yeah, I want to see Warfare 2. I may actually see two movies next week. We'll see if I go Thursday.
00:33:57
Speaker
Mobland. Ooh, what a great fucking show. This is on Paramount. Debut on on Sunday. um Guy Ritchie directed the episodes starring Tom Hardy. Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, all great. All about a UK mob family.
00:34:12
Speaker
I don't know if you had a chance to watch the first episode or any of this yet. Um, but it's on Paramount. Very, very good. Um, and Tom Hardy is just great. It's Tom Hardy. week And, uh,
00:34:23
Speaker
It had the biggest global premiere week ever for Paramount+, 8.8 million viewers. So, yeah, it's doing great numbers for them. And, yeah, I can't help it. It comes out on Sundays. going to check it out tonight.
00:34:34
Speaker
Yeah, very good. Very good. um The Studio, episode four. Great show, too. Lots of attention. Yeah, I didn't watch the first three like you did last week.
00:34:44
Speaker
oh I sat down and watched them at my sister's house. i was just going to watch like one episode, but I did get pulled in. ended up staying up way too late. um But this show is incredible. I love it. Yeah, very good. Very good. I can't wait i can't wait for the Zack Snyder episode.
00:34:57
Speaker
That's going to be... Yeah, interesting. A lot of tongue-in-cheek Hollywood shots to not only superhero movies, but every genre of movies, from comedies to superhero to to drama.
00:35:10
Speaker
this movie was This show was almost an episode of Chinatown, the way it was played out, but it was really cool. um And we talked about last week, the end of the show, Val Kilmer.
00:35:23
Speaker
Briefly going to talk about some movies I watched this week for the first time, including a recommendation that you had for me to watch for this week. um Top Secret, Real Genius, two of his first movies that came out in the eighty s both comedies.
00:35:36
Speaker
Top Secret is a musical parody movie kind of on the on the same as the same wavelength as Airplane, directed by the same guy. um Real Genius is one of those 80s kind of like kind of like John Hughes 80s weird nerdy comic ah comedy movies. Mm-hmm.
00:35:58
Speaker
And then you told me to watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. This came out in 2005. Boy, did it. Wow, what a great movie that is. Yeah, somebody was just like, you like Val Comer? And I was like, this was like back in 2006 2007. And six or seven I was like, yeah. And he was like, watch this movie and gave me the DVD. And I was just blown away by it.
00:36:16
Speaker
That's when I was like, I became a fan of him

Chadwick Boseman's Legacy

00:36:18
Speaker
and Robert. Well, I mean i was already a fan of him, but i became a fan of Robert Downey Jr. because he's... Wow, what a great, the two of them working off of each other.
00:36:26
Speaker
Val Kilmer in a different role than I've ever been. I've seen a lot of Val Kilmer movies, a lot of them in the last 10, 15 years. But, wow, what a role.
00:36:37
Speaker
And what a yeah what a movie, great movie. I think Shane Black directed it. He did, We talked about Predator earlier, he's in Predator. Yeah, it's one of the reasons why Black did but Iron Man 3. Okay, that makes sense. yeah um Then I saw McRuber.
00:36:53
Speaker
Saw a whole other layer Val Kilmer as a villain. um Interesting movie based off the Saturday Night Live character, Will Forte. interesting movie Interesting movie. Funny.
00:37:06
Speaker
The beginning of the movie, I don't know if we've ever talked about it. Tons of wrestlers in this movie. Yeah. Jared doesn't write it. Right. And who all die within a minute of being on screen. He's recruiting a whole team and they all die because he ended up fucking up the c four This movie's, fin I love this movie. I think I brought it up to you a few years ago and you were don't really like it.
00:37:27
Speaker
And then you texted me this movie. I started watching it. You never past 10 minutes. Right, and I never started it. yeah no wonder No wonder you never like cared to see it. Because if you watch like 10 minutes, it's like, eh. But like you watch a little thing and it's fucking cunt.
00:37:39
Speaker
Or whatever Val Kilmer's name is. Yeah, Val Kilmer's name is cunt. And every time I've been yelling, a hello, cunts. I thinks think I brought it up when the the TV show came to Peacock, um which is also a very fun show. Yeah, I do recommend i heard that
00:37:55
Speaker
And the one thing recommended to watch it last week, and I did, was the Val documentary that came out in 2021. And this is one the last things he did. Yeah, narrated by his son. And he had a huge part in it. He was basically the whole entire thing was all about him as all home movies that he made from his childhood on.
00:38:14
Speaker
um He was one of those kids that had a video camera way early in the 80s when a lot of people didn't. And he had tons and tons of videotape. And it's interesting because it's it's seeing Val way back in the day when he was spry, full of life, being narrated by his son because he can't talk now, even though he does talk in it. He has the kind of the voice box thing. and He presses his neck and talks like this.
00:38:41
Speaker
So, so, so scary. So sad to see. But he is still, the thing about him was he, even with that, even with his thing going on, he was still full of life, still joking around.
00:38:52
Speaker
um This was only a few years ago, and sadly he passed from complications of everything that he was dealing with. But yeah, rest in peace to Val Kilmer. Big, huge shock to Hollywood last week. um Speaking of rest in peace, we are in baseball season.
00:39:07
Speaker
We're in baseball movie season and started off with 42. A movie about Jackie robson Robinson starring Chadwick Boseman. The movie that made him a star in Hollywood.
00:39:20
Speaker
Got him a lot of roles because

Comic Book Discussions: 'Justice'

00:39:22
Speaker
of this. Black Panther later on because of this, but also the next movie we're going to talk about. But great baseball movie. Didn't know a lot about Jackie Robinson other than him being a pioneer for baseball.
00:39:33
Speaker
But yeah, very, very good movie. And then I watched Get On Up, his other movie where he played another iconic black character of ah James Brown. Great fucking movie. Both of these were movies. I can't believe you never saw Get On Up before because I know how many people are music movies.
00:39:47
Speaker
I've actually waited for three years to watch it because of us in this podcast and baseball movies. knew I was going to eventually talk about it. That was one of the first Blu-rays I bought that came with the code.
00:40:00
Speaker
Yeah, I love that movie. yeah I have a picture in our notes. I forgot to put in the notes for YouTube, but the picture of him and that one bigoted Phillies player, yeah um that was a great scene in 42 where he was calling him every every racist word you can see from the mound.
00:40:17
Speaker
And he he didn't even really get reprimanded by anybody in the... in the in the Major League Baseball, um it was just like, hey, come here, take a picture with us. Just let's bury the hatchet. And like, really?
00:40:29
Speaker
Jackie Robinson's like, really? After all that, okay, fine. He just became a bigger man and took a picture with the guy. um Great story. um and finally this week before we get into news we did read a comic book that is about three or four weeks in the making justice by alex ross this came out in two thousand and five in two thousand and seven twelve issues um Three volumes there, different covers look really, really cool.
00:40:54
Speaker
um And yeah, drawing done by Alex Ross. and I can't remember who wrote it. I can't see it from here, but um got some pictures to talk about it a little bit. It's basically just a great Justice League versus Legion of Doom story.
00:41:08
Speaker
um And it's Brainiac taking over, manipulating heroes, um manipulating humans on Earth and villains and getting getting them to work for him to take down superheroes.
00:41:20
Speaker
But here's some pictures of Superman, Lex Luthor, Bizarro, Shazam's a part of it too, Billy Batson. um Great picture of Superman here flying into the sun, regenerating. That's really cool, you never really see something like that.
00:41:36
Speaker
um Hal Jordan, um Iron, Iron, wow, Green Lantern, really, really cool. a of Shazam and Black Adam fighting and all these costumes are what they have to wear to prevent these infiltration of Brainiac um which were really cool we got the Legion of Doom up top there we got all of the the bad guy kids who ended up turning into the villains end up turning into bad guys in the middle of the story Joker as a vampire really cool visual I love that Joker
00:42:10
Speaker
um We also got a Wonder Woman who's kind of been um poisoned in this, and she becomes like that, looking like that. um Satana, like her, ah Superman, Red Tornado, great character.
00:42:26
Speaker
Green Arrow, great depiction of Green Arrow in this, and his wife, Black Canary. um Great fight between, between um um want say Orm, but it's not Orm.
00:42:38
Speaker
a black manta and an aquaman and all the green lanterns coming to save hal jordan at the end of the battle um and then we get uh superman finally taking um brainiac ship in space which is shrunk down and putting it into his uh kryptonian treasure trove and we get a glimpse of batman in the uh in the bat cave with alfred uh what about brainiac well brainiac's been captured Really cool story.
00:43:07
Speaker
And that brings us into the news.

Superman Trailer Reactions

00:43:17
Speaker
And it's not a news segment without the trailer around.
00:43:21
Speaker
first big trailer, and we knew it was coming after after Comic-Con, but they finally released the trailer for Superman. Or this quick clip of Superman that was debuted. um And you see, I've got some pictures of it, we'll talk about it little by little, but we got Crypto dragging Superman into the Fortress of Solitude with the big S on the door.
00:43:41
Speaker
um You know a little bit what little bit about the what Twitter thinks of everything. I'll let you get into that what god page but page by page. Yeah. um Yeah, so Twitter not a fan. um The usual suspects not a fan.
00:43:55
Speaker
um They make fun of the fact that Superman doesn't have a double chin or shouldn't have a double chin. um David did not work out enough to become Superman. yeah um His eyes don't look right.
00:44:07
Speaker
um and they take this put a lot of i just I just watched a very therapeutic podcast right before we got on that Real Rejects uploaded today and it was basically all about the hatred that this is getting.
00:44:20
Speaker
Um, and it's very good. It was like hour and a half and youre just coy and the other guy just talking about it. And Corey, of course, is a, according to some people, a shill because he now works for DC studios doing their podcast.
00:44:32
Speaker
Um, but I'm like, I'm like, he also like gave justice league cause and i was just like a four out of five. So if he was a shield now, he's a shield then. Um, that's how I always kind of think of it. Um, but back to the, yeah, Twitter is just having a field day with this. Um,
00:44:49
Speaker
this I thought digitally looked stunning. I thought i think it looked great. I think it looks great. I looks exactly how I want it to look. Yeah. um So, yeah, go on and I'll keep talking about it because I'm sure, oh, yes, the robots.
00:45:00
Speaker
The robots? Why do they have human numbers and not Kryptonian numbers? And why do they call him Superman and not Cal-El? Haven't you read a fucking comic book? The robots have numbers on their chest.
00:45:12
Speaker
And the fortress, why does the fortress disappear out of nowhere? um Wow. Yeah, it's kind of insane. That's been lore. That's been lore forever. It's kind of insane that the Fortress Solitude isn't just a fucking ship.
00:45:25
Speaker
um And the robots are actually looking like they do in the fucking comics. get I'm very angry. you've brought two things like two things i want to hurt but Two things I want to talk about about the fortress. First off, you hear a voice in the background.
00:45:38
Speaker
Kryptonian language. It's Jor-El. Speculationist Bradley Cooper. We talked about that last week. And his wife, too. ah Kara-El, whatever her name is. Lara.
00:45:50
Speaker
Lara. That's it, yeah, Lara. Apparently you can hear her also. um Also, the voices, you hear some voices of the robot, one being Alan Tudyk. The other one is a female, which we're at number 12, which we're not sure who that is. She's new.
00:46:02
Speaker
I'm assuming that's the one that's dead when he's crying in the trailer. Okay. That's the other issue is when the first robot, number four, says... we don't feel feelings or whatever the fuck he says. And then the girl, and then he like looks at the girl robot and she like kind of like blushes or whatever. And it's like, that's a fucking cinematic sci-fi trope that's been used since forever.
00:46:24
Speaker
Like R2, D2 and C3PO. Like, like who's to say she's not more advanced cause she's the new robot and can actually detect things. Um, yeah. So far I have no problem. So far I have no problem.
00:46:37
Speaker
um Next picture, this is is the one that took the internet by storm. my god, yes. Superman doesn't get hurt by this. Also, Superman almost dies because of radiation. Right. Also, Superman doesn't feel... yeah He fucking feels pain.
00:46:51
Speaker
He feels pain. Like, that happens. That happens. yeah If every bone in your body was brought was snapped back into place at once, and vital organs were healing at once, don't you think you might feel a little pain?
00:47:03
Speaker
So to me, the whole thing is, okay, so what damage does Superman... Um, to this point, another theory I've heard is that this is actually Ultraman being sent by Lex to get inside the fortress. I don't think that's going to happen. no That's just somebody was just playing around with that idea.
00:47:18
Speaker
Like as a joke, basically to troll the Twitter, the snapper guys. Um, but I mean, i think this looks fantastic. Yeah. Um, it looks like that picture on the left there looks like it's straight up.
00:47:29
Speaker
It looks like it's out of an Alex Ross painted comic. It does. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, if Superman is damaged, he needs a ah he is a centralized ray of sun hitting him. Which is a perfect depiction of that, getting the energy back into his body. 268 times the sun's actual right power or something like that.
00:47:49
Speaker
And the other thing, too, is um how is superman how are the robots able to hold down Superman? They're made with Kryptonian technology. fucking Superman film, people. It's a fucking... It's about a guy that can fly who's an alien.
00:48:05
Speaker
It's Kryptonian technology. yeah It's Kryptonian technology. They know what they're doing. fucking super unlike Unlike Twitter. You guys don't know what you're doing. Don't ever write a movie. touch grass Touch grass.
00:48:19
Speaker
Get a life. That's hard for me to say, but get a life.

TV and Movie Roundup

00:48:23
Speaker
um South Park Season 27. Nice transition. Well, even nicer a transition. I cannot wait for P. Diddy fighting a war.
00:48:34
Speaker
um This is going to be awesome. and there's And there's definitely a war against Canada, which is even better if you know the movie that came out. 25 years ago. um They're going back. in six four they played a they paid They played a slow version of the Blame Canada theme, which was fucking awesome. I can help and i haven't watched South Park in a long time, but you touch yeah I'm going to pick it up right here.
00:48:56
Speaker
um This came out today. going to watch it for next week. All about WrestleMania 9 becoming a spectacle. It's on Peacock. um Brand new documentary. WrestleMania is next weekend, so we'll talk about it in a couple episodes.
00:49:10
Speaker
um But yeah, interesting time. and Why is WrestleMania Easter? Why is it Easter weekend? Like I got Easter weekend, the whole entire weekend, Saturday and Sunday. It's really no interesting. I was thinking that too.
00:49:23
Speaker
I'm not going be able watch until like Monday. yeah thisqui by then I might try pull up in my cousin's basement and watch some of it, but we'll see. um Got a brand new poster trailer for the Tales of the Underworld, the Star Wars animated mini shorts, um taking some characters from the past and bringing into animated form. They've done this a few times, but there's another version of that.
00:49:46
Speaker
So yeah, brand new trailer for this movie looked awesome. Neighborhood Watch. Starring Jack Quaid and jeffer dean Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Coming out at the end of the month, April 25th. I think Jack Quaid's kind of like in the mental in a mental state.
00:50:01
Speaker
um It looked really, really good and really funny. Another movie reminds me a lot of like um National Treasure. Starring John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, um Donald Gleeson. Called Fountain of Youth.
00:50:13
Speaker
This comes out May 23rd on Apple TV. so it's going to be free if you have Apple TV. um Yeah, so it looked really good. And like I said, it reminds me of like Indiana Jones, National Treasure, that type of movie where they're looking for the fountain of youth.
00:50:25
Speaker
um Like I mentioned with the comic CinemaCon panel, they did release the Tron Aries poster and new trailer. It looked awesome. um Got a brand new trailer and poster for...
00:50:38
Speaker
I'm going to remove this, add this, um for the Killers of Killers Predator, coming out as an animated series on Hulu on June 6th. um And it's all about a three-part anthology film that follows the Predator fighting Vikings, Samurais, and World War II pilots.
00:50:55
Speaker
So they're going on the Prey way of things, and they're going into the historical aspect of it and showing him fighting through time, which is kind of cool. Yeah, from the director of Prey, he actually directed these two, so.
00:51:07
Speaker
That's really cool. um Another thing with Tom holer ha tom Hardy um called Havoc. Coming out on Netflix on April 25th. Brand new poster for it. um Him, Timmy Olyphant, Forrest Whitaker.
00:51:21
Speaker
um I've seen the trailer. looks pretty good. um Some sort of an action movie with Tom Hardy. So it's probably going to be good no matter what. um Another movie coming on Apple TV.
00:51:32
Speaker
art I think it's a movie. i don't think it's a series. It's called Murderbot. Starring Alexander Skarsgรฅrd. um and a few other people, I can't remember who was in it, but it looked really good. don't the trailer for it or not, but it comes out May 16th on Apple TV.
00:51:45
Speaker
And finally, with trailers this week, Mission Impossible, the final reckoning, um it seems like Tom Cruise is getting older and older and just wants to do all the stunts that's going to kill him in this movie and be done with it. Until two years from now, and they give him more money and he'll come back.
00:52:02
Speaker
Or they just get g Glenn Powell to take over for him or something like that. oh that would be a weird. Yeah, Mission Impossible. One of those franchises I'm surprised lasted this long, especially with ah with the bad ones in the middle. It's a weird franchise, too, because, like, well, the bad one was the second one. The second one was the bad one.
00:52:18
Speaker
Yeah. um Three is really is actually really good. um But it's weird that, like, these movies are so, like, fun to watch. Like, I'm never like, oh, I can't wait for the next one. i haven't watched the final Reckoning or Dead Reckoning, whatever it was, the last one.
00:52:33
Speaker
I bought it, like, whatever, a year and a half ago. I just haven't gotten around to watching it. But, like, when I watch these movies, I'm

Industry News and Updates

00:52:39
Speaker
having a great time. It's weird. Yeah. It's very odd. Yeah, that comes out May 23rd, so we'll probably talk about that. i think I have one one or two more I have to watch to catch up on those. Yeah. We'll talk about that. The Cavill one's awesome. that's Yeah, that's the one I have to watch. I think that's the one I'm on, so. Okay. um Let's get into the rest of the news. Weekend box office last week, Minecraft movie, won the box office with 157
00:53:03
Speaker
million dollars yeah um a working man what you saw 7.2 big drop off and um the chosen the last supper easter movie 6.7 million minecraft movie beat the mario brothers movie and now has the biggest domestic box office debut in history for a video game adaptation so pretty cool numbers I think Legend of Zelda is going to blow both of those out of the water, but that's my personal opinion. Well, and we it's tough to say when we haven't even seen when they haven't even started casting yet, but um it could.
00:53:37
Speaker
But then again, Minecraft is the biggest video game, even over Zelda at this point. Possibly all the time. Except for, yeah, maybe. The amount of players that played Minecraft from 2019 to 2023. Yeah.
00:53:52
Speaker
2010. It's a lot. I mean, it's a huge, huge game. And it really hasn't changed much in the last 15 years. the same oh game. ye Same game. Like Roblox.
00:54:03
Speaker
they ever make a Roblox movie, all those all that generation is going to go see it. yeah um What are your thoughts on this, Kevin? Because I know you're a huge fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme from the 80s and 90s. Accused of sex trafficking women into Romania.
00:54:19
Speaker
Innocent? Question mark.
00:54:24
Speaker
Allegedly a sexting except accepting sex with several women as a gift is what the allegations are. But yeah.
00:54:37
Speaker
So is that what he decided to take up instead of cocaine? When he put the cocaine down, he decided to start doing this? One of my favorite gifts on the internet is him dancing. From what is that? What's that movie?
00:54:48
Speaker
Is it Lionheart? I think it's Lionheart or Bloodsport. Bloodsport. It's Bloodsport. I couldn't remember what it was, but yeah. yeah we're gonna We'll probably hear more about that later on, but yeah. Jean-Claude Van Damme. I know you're a big fan of him. so Convicted Rapist?
00:55:03
Speaker
Maybe. We'll have to wait and um Universal Studios. The theme parks. They're making a new one. This one in the UK. Going to be in Bedford, UK, starting construction in 2026, opening in 2031. I've got the concept right here.
00:55:19
Speaker
um we've got the concept art right here And speculation went wild on what lands will be here. The big ones being Back to the Future, possibly. um Maybe some stuff they have from the Universal Studios over here. um They're saying that that they could have a Back to the Future rollercoaster, which would be interesting. delorean yeah But the ones that were officially rumored from the BBC article that came out, I think yesterday, they're going to have a James Bond theme park.
00:55:51
Speaker
They're going to have a Paddington, which is huge over there. It's a little it's it's not as big over here, but Paddington is patic today huge over there. But they're also opening an epic Lord of the Rings for there, too.
00:56:04
Speaker
Universe. Holy shit. That is going to be a destination theme park. if they open up I don't think they have any other... Besides actually going to New Zealand, I don't think they have any new Lord of the Rings type of...
00:56:18
Speaker
parks or anything that you can see things i know if you go there if you go to new zealand you can see the shire you see stuff they've kept some of the sets there um but yeah that's really really cool um sure in in a few years we'll hear more about this um epic universe opening um in may um big rumor there is there's going to be an expansion to the super mario world and they're going a whole hyrule legend zelda section which would be really really cool um No official word on that because they haven't even opened the first part first part of that yet. but
00:56:49
Speaker
um um I want to bring this up. Award season. um The Academy Awards in 2027 for the 100th anniversary of the Oscars are going to finally add the Best Stunt Design category.
00:57:05
Speaker
100 years too fucking late. They should have done this years and years ago. Stunt stunt performing as one of the unsung heroes of Hollywood. finally Two things to me that are like unsung heroes is yes, they've always had an award for it, but writers kind of get the short end of the stick sometimes. time um the writing and the stunts to me have always kind of been unsung heroes through the academy for sure look at look at like kane hodder um guy who played jason this guy had 82 of his body burned in 1984 and then does a stunt in friday 13th part 7 where they set him on fire because he's like it's my job what am i gonna do not get set on fire um like stunt performers
00:57:46
Speaker
No protection. just jumping out of airplanes or whatever. um Yeah, it's it's a very tough business to be a stumped man. It's like wrestlers. No protection for later in life. For insurance-wise and yeah in rehab and whatever you need going on later in life, especially painkillers or whatever. um No protections there whatsoever. But yeah, it's it's good to see the Academy kind of caring about it, but hope the rest of Hollywood would turn around and do that too.
00:58:08
Speaker
um The Tangled Disney live-action movie that was supposed to happen... On hold indefinitely. They're doing a lot of changes in Hollywood. Thank God. Another change that they're making, the movie was supposed to come out on October 3rd, has not been fully confirmed yet, but the Michael Jackson biopic, not only is it probably be delayed about six, seven months, but it's going to be split into two movies. Yes.
00:58:30
Speaker
No idea what days are, but it'll be delayed. I don't think we ever talked about it here, did we, on why they have to do this. It has something to but do about music, right? Right.
00:58:42
Speaker
No, um, the entire is third act of the movie was built upon a case they legally could not do. So when whoever read off for the estate side, um, whoever read the script and gave the okay on it, shouldn't have been able to do that. Cause the entire third act revolved around one of the cases and because of a settlement, they can't mention the kid's name or anything about him.
00:59:05
Speaker
Um, So I think they're going to release like the first half of it and figure out what they're to do for the second half. Interesting. That's what the scuttlebutt was about three four weeks ago.
00:59:17
Speaker
So they're going decade and decade with this movie. that was what That's what what I was wondering what was going on with this. so They're going to talking about this whole entire life. They need two movies for that then. Okay.
00:59:27
Speaker
um Psych 4. We love Psych. We talk about it all the time. Sean and Gus. um Where the hell is the fourth movie? Everybody's asking that. Why isn't it happening? um James Roday went on talk about it. Talked about the creative team is ready.
00:59:42
Speaker
um They've already written it. But it says it takes two to tango. If the fans want to make some noise, they should direct their energy towards the cock. Speaking of Peacock, who's in charge of it.
00:59:54
Speaker
Direct quote from James Roday. um Roday Rodriguez. Roday Rodriguez. He did he did add Rodriguez back to his name. But yeah, I want to see Psych 4. The big thing was they were supposed to do a movie for each character of the show. That's all I knew. They've already done three, and they have like four other characters they have to do for it.
01:00:12
Speaker
which will probably end on Sean, I'm guessing. I don't know where it would end, but yeah. um Yeah, I gotta to go back and watch those movies again. I think I've only seen each one once, maybe twice, the first one. Yeah, but I never re-watched them, but I re-watched the show a lot.
01:00:26
Speaker
Yeah, I watch the show a lot too. It's on repeat all the time in the background. Got a brand new poster. I haven't seen the trailer yet, but saw it was released for FUBAR. um Coming out on Netflix on June 12th, starring Carrie Ann Moss and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
01:00:38
Speaker
um I don't know much about it. I know there's a trailer for it. Looks like he's got some hair dye. Definitely dyed his hair because he's in his mid-70s now. but um Brand new watercolor poster, which looks really cool for Sinners. that Comes out next week.
01:00:55
Speaker
Very much looking forward to it. Getting highly praised by everybody. what are the I think it's the only movie shot on IMAX releasing this year and and in theaters. um The next movie is Odyssey.
01:01:06
Speaker
That's the only the only two movies in the next year and a half that going released in IMAX. Yes. Well, Superman and... Film for IMAX. Yeah, film for IMAX. Yes, they used IMAX.
01:01:18
Speaker
They'll digitally do it for like Superman and Mission Impossible or something like that. But Ryan Coogler, actually, i think it's like a 12-minute video, they just released this week talking about his love for film and why they made different choices and explaining different aspect ratios and stuff like that, in which you'll see the movie, depending on where you go see it. um If you find it's a good video.
01:01:37
Speaker
Yeah, that poster looks awesome. I love the watercolors. It does. yeah um Yeah, a brand new special coming out on on May 13th. Joan Rivers, she died about a decade ago.
01:01:48
Speaker
Comedian, big and big in our life. I mean, big, huge 80s, 90s. She was Spaceballs, stand-up. She was a she wasn' in a lot of roasts way back 20 years ago.
01:02:01
Speaker
Died from plastic surgery like Kanye's mom. um died on the table. But yeah, they're going to some sort of a tribute with her and a whole bunch of other comedians. So, ah yeah. ah Brand new picture of Dexter in a suit yeah with David Masauchin filming Dexter Resurrection comes out in just two months. I cannot wait for that.
01:02:22
Speaker
um Eric Dane, who was in Euphoria, um he played the father of Jacob Lardy. um and he was diagnosed with ALS but he's going to be 52 years old and he's going to be filming eure your eureka euphoria next week for season three he's going to filming his his scenes for that i'm not sure if he's in a wheelchair he's got a walker he's got a cane i have no idea what's going on with him but um he just found out i believe and he just wanted to announce it before he started filming so That's cool.
01:02:54
Speaker
Except for the diagnosis. Cool he's coming back though. Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob Burgers have a four season renewal each at Fox. I cannot believe that The Simpsons is going to be lasting over 40 seasons.
01:03:08
Speaker
Holy crap. um But yeah, Simpsons is going to be one of the longest running shows ever by then. It isn't already. It already is, yeah. yeah It's like up um basically like The Tonight Show.
01:03:19
Speaker
Yeah, that's crazy. um Ice Cube. I reached a deal finally to write and star in the Friday movie for Warner Brothers called Last Friday. ah Fourth movie in the franchise. We've been talking about it forever, bringing everybody back kind of as the end of the series.
01:03:34
Speaker
The first in over 20 years the last movie came out. so yeah Hope they bring back Chris Tucker. i that's the only reason I would want to see that movie is Chris Tucker and Chris Tucker has always been against it um he's kind of a religious guy he's kind of like out of that whole thing he also over i think he overpriced himself out of the sequels I think he wanted like 30 million or something like that like once Rush Hour took off like he wanted like a lot of money for any of these movies we'll see He's not doing much but stand-up right now. Even if it's just a cameo, it would be cool.
01:04:03
Speaker
yeah um Guy Ritchie, the best parts of are dead. that movie are dead Ice Cube's father, he's gone. Witherspoon.
01:04:14
Speaker
And Zeus, gone too. Devo, gone. Guy Ritchie's in talks to direct Roadhouse 2. Roadhouse 1 came out with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor last year. Guy Ritchie's in talks to direct the second one.
01:04:30
Speaker
Interesting. I love Guy Ritchie, so... um The Smashing Machine starring The Rock as Mark Kerr in the boxing movie coming out on October 3rd. Why does The Rock look like Chael Sonnen in this photo?
01:04:41
Speaker
I have no idea. That nose and black hair. and i can't I can't wait for this movie. It's going to awesome. Hopefully. WWE doing a weird thing with the Hall of Fame this year.
01:04:52
Speaker
ah not Not only the first time that they're doing that moment with the WrestleMania match with um at 13 with Stone Cold and Bret Hart. They're doing matches single matches putting into the Hall of Fame.
01:05:05
Speaker
But they're also doing legacy inductees. Kind of like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does that too. where you don't You're not a real and Hall of Famer, but you're kind of in a legacy category where you didn't have a huge amount of hits.
01:05:17
Speaker
But you're just right there. Everybody knows who you are. And this year, they're going to have Kamala, Dory Funk Sr., and Ivan Karloff. All people people know, but they weren't really big. They didn't win a lot of titles. They didn't have a lot of presence other than their characters. Mostly known outside of w WWE. yes um is basically what it was when Vince bought the company and started bringing people in.
01:05:40
Speaker
I mean, Kamala had a huge role in WWE, so he might be the exception, but for the most part, Koloff and Dory Funk did most of their most productive stuff outside of the company. yeah like I like how they're doing this.
01:05:51
Speaker
because ah You think a Hall of Fame career... Kamala doesn't really have a Hall of Fame career, but it's a great way of putting them in another... Of honoring them, yeah yeah. Honoring them in a way, um yeah. um This is taking the internet by storm this week because of Yeah, and it's fucking stupid.
01:06:09
Speaker
ah Meryl Streepson talks to play oslan Aslan, Aslan, Aslan, in the Gartonardia movies, starting with The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, from Greta Gerwig. Which is supposed to be male, is what they're saying?
01:06:23
Speaker
um And to that, i say, who gives a fuck? It's a lion. It's a book. Who cares? It's a book. Like, yeah, who gives a shit? Like, seriously, who gives a shit?
01:06:33
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I think she could do a great job doing that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Logan Lerman. has been tapped into a recurring guest star on season five of, uh, Only Murders in the Building.
01:06:46
Speaker
Love that show. Um, he was in the first, um, Percy Jackson films, the first two. Um, so yeah. Um, Val Kilmer, all these stories coming out of Val Kilmer after he died. Will Forte told the story of how when they did MacGruber, Val Kilmer seriously asked him in a serious manner, I want you to do The Amazing Race with me, the reality show.
01:07:10
Speaker
And Will Forte is like, hell fucking yes, we'll do it. They both asked to their representatives who told them, no fucking way are you guys doing the Amazing Rays. What we missed, what the what we what we actually missed, which would have been great to get i' seeing them together. I love Will Forte.
01:07:28
Speaker
Me love the guy. He's awesome. Yeah, his saying it's his biggest regret of his his whole career. i I think it is, too. um Robert Pattinson. This is crazy. Crazy story that came out this week.
01:07:41
Speaker
Reportedly being eyed for a role in Dune 3. Robert Pattinson doing a lot of stuff that year. Dune, the Batman... He's in the Odyssey, right?

Controversial Comparisons

01:07:51
Speaker
i mean, he's doing a of shit. He already filmed the Odyssey.
01:07:54
Speaker
Yeah, holy shit. the I don't see it in the notes. I want to quickly address the Batman 2 situation. go Grace Randolph. Yes.
01:08:04
Speaker
Did you see this? what I did not see it. No. um So she basically was like, I'm not going to rag on Matt Reeves anymore because he's in a Chadwick Boseman-like situation.
01:08:17
Speaker
Who the fuck are you to tell people that? Wait, what? Yeah, she said that the reason why the Batman 2 is taking so long is because... I think we talked about this.
01:08:28
Speaker
We've talked about his health issues. Right, yeah health issues. But nobody, people that know, like what's going on have repeatedly said, I'm not going to talk about it. Like whatever, like that's his business. And then Grace Randolph came on a stream two, three days ago and um and basically equated to a Chadwick Boseman, but not as serious situation.
01:08:49
Speaker
um I just want say it's not her place to say that. And that pisses me off. What I heard was it was family members. i didn't think it was him. Was it a family member? It could be his wife.
01:09:01
Speaker
It could his wife. It could be. But like, I don't know. And I just don't think people should be putting that information out there. oh Because a lot of the other pundits have come out and been like, that was not cool. Like, we know what's going on, but we're not to say anything. That's fucked up.
01:09:16
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I know you always you always give her shit too, Grace Randolph. Yeah, she's something else. Oh, wow.

New Movie Developments

01:09:24
Speaker
um It's funny that the studio movie or TV shows out and they're doing the Kool-Aid movie.
01:09:31
Speaker
And I think even mean they made a joke in the show about, oh, we're going to do a Hershey's movie or they want to do a Hershey's movie. Well, they're actually doing a Hershey chocolate movie. um It's in the works, directed by Mark Waters, who did Mean Girls.
01:09:44
Speaker
And it's going starring Alexander Daddario and Finn Widrock. I don't know who he I don't know who he is, but. um Yeah, they're actually doing a Hershey's movie. who would ble i'd rather um I'd rather a Lego movie and not like the Lego movies we have, but how about the creation of the Lego?
01:09:59
Speaker
That'd be fun. Yeah, that'd be interesting. um how I know what you did last summer, coming out this summer. Not a remake, sequel, brand new kids coming in. That's them on the top left there.
01:10:12
Speaker
um And bringing it back the original cast too, Freddie Prinze Jr. I'm so glad they brought back Freddie Prinze Yeah, I like him. He was a big part Raw back in like decade ago. They're in those movies. Yeah. yep um Direwolves. Oh man, what a great story came out this week.
01:10:29
Speaker
You were wondering where George R.R. Martin is with this fucking book? Well, obviously not writing because he's busy hugging Direwolves. If you know Game of Thrones... Dire wolves are the wolves that the Starks have, and they're they've been extinct. Real-life animals have been extinct for thousands of years, 10,000, 15,000 years, and they took DNA from fossils of dire wolves. It's a real Jurassic Park situation.
01:10:58
Speaker
Yeah, it is Jurassic Park in real time. um And they took fossils and they actually created dire wolves in real life. And the first person, I believe because Peter Jackson and George R.R. Martin gave money to the foundation and did this, um they they and were part of the announcement too. And they actually...
01:11:18
Speaker
the Game of Thrones throne went on auction, i believe, last year, the year before, and they were wondering, nobody knew who bought it. And sure enough, it was Peter Jackson that bought it.
01:11:28
Speaker
Um, and that's the whole reason why their direwolves are in the, the, the throne here is because he owned it and they wanted him, his permission to use the throne because direwolves, direwolves in, in pop culture are big with George RR Martin and Game with Thrones, but,
01:11:41
Speaker
um Very interesting, weird story. i still I still think he has the last book written. I just don't think he's releasing until he dies. I honestly feel that way. That makes sense. But because of not just the backlash, but just... I just think he's... i just have a feeling like...
01:12:01
Speaker
Does he have kids? What's he been doing? Does he have kids? I'm assuming he does. I mean, the guy's 74. Okay. That would make sense. Kind of pay off. That's just an assumption because he said no one's going to finish the story but him. So i just I just assume because that's what happened with the Dune guys. He had somebody else finish his stories and, of course, Tolkien.
01:12:18
Speaker
Right. right So I just assume. I could be completely wrong on that, but just a guess. ah George R. R. Martin. God. God. How that last season of Game of Thrones just failed miserably. i't I don't understand it.
01:12:33
Speaker
A couple of Switch 2 things we didn't talk about last week. well Number one... tariffs in the united states have ended the pre-orders thanks donny but they're going to be starting in may i think may 8th is the new day um i didn't have that in the notes but the other thing was a couple of things number one um we talked about how they're going to have a camera ah accessory that you can add and you can you can play multiplayer online with people that have other switches and other homes Well, they're releasing another Switch 2 camera, Piranha Plant.
01:13:03
Speaker
Not going to be as good as the original one. i think it's I think it's like SD compared to HD, but it does look really cool. Nintendo should have done this. I don't know why they didn't, but it would it would have looked cool on the TV stand. but um The battery life of Switch 2 is what we didn't talk about last week because they didn't find out until this week what what it compared to the other one.
01:13:23
Speaker
But the Switch OLED, which just came out last year and year before, has up to nine hours of battery life Which is pretty good considering what we grew up with with the fucking Game Gear and Game Boy back in the day. Well, Game Gear was always the worst. and Game Gear was always the worst.
01:13:37
Speaker
Those two were the worst, yeah. um But the Switch 2 is rumored to only have two hours to six hours of battery life. Which is not a lot. That's like GameBeer numbers.
01:13:50
Speaker
Close GameBeer numbers. I mean, if you're traveling, you probably have a thing to plug it in anyways. Probably a battery pack will be available. I don't see it as a very big deal um yeah at all.
01:14:02
Speaker
um We have lot of portability. Most of my Switch app is when it's docked anyways. um yeah but yeah This thing sounds awesome when it's docked anyway. It's going to be 4K. Yeah.
01:14:14
Speaker
120 hertz. i mean, it's going to look awesome on a TV compared to portability. If you want a portable system, number one, go with a stream, which you never haven't talked about on the podcast yet. Steam Deck is awesome. I love it.
01:14:27
Speaker
We'll talk about it. We'll get into it later. Okay. We don't have anything written down. up yeah We'll do it next week. um But yeah, or wait for the Switch 2 Pro, which will probably be out two years from now. Yeah. um So let's talk about some swag.

Collectibles and Merchandise

01:14:42
Speaker
Swag. Swag. stuff we all get come on son you know that's right this is a great great i believe it's sideshow collectible statue of beast looked really good i wanted to mention that that is cool a pop figure of superman from the 90s black sea superman i need this um i don't know where i'm gonna put my pops i'm running out of pops just when you thought you were out they pull you back in I've bought six pops in the last two weeks.
01:15:12
Speaker
I know. It's one of those things. You go on sprees and all of a sudden you're $80 deep. My Superman ones are up here because nowhere for them to go. um Another great. This is ornaments. getting Hallmark ornaments. The preview for next year already. This is from X-Men, the animated series of Wolverine on the Sentinel head. Awesome. Another one, Hallmark ornament for Stone Cold Steve Austin. This is kind of a preview shot. It's coming out sometime next year. We'll know more about it probably this summer, maybe by May, June.
01:15:39
Speaker
um Marvel at Legends series figures coming out with a Tobey Maguire black suit Spider-Man, the emo Spider-Man, if you will.
01:15:51
Speaker
um Okay, looks weird. um And Hot Toys coming out with a Anakin Skywalker right before he kills the younglings. Red eyes and everything right as he turns to the dark side.
01:16:04
Speaker
Um, probably, if I were to guess, this is right, right before Mustafar, but, um, yeah, really, really cool. I guess it's jeff Japan exclusive too, but, um, in comic books, face it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot.
01:16:20
Speaker
Mary, what? I heard that. Uh, Mary Jane Watson is going to be the next Venom. Interesting. It's going be an interesting story between he her and Peter, especially with Venom symbiote.
01:16:33
Speaker
Breaking news via that text. My niece is officially committed to Ohio State, which is the one school I don't want her to go to because I fucking hate Ohio State.
01:16:44
Speaker
Nice. But, you know, good for her. Awesome. Cool. Brand new poster Thunderbolts, the IMAX poster. um i actually cannot wait for this movie. It's getting some praise behind the scenes. I'm not sure what's true and what's fake on the internet anymore. but Yeah, you have no Yeah, we have no idea.
01:17:03
Speaker
Everybody's saying it could be good, saying the previews are good, but we'll see. People I trust say it's really good. um But then again, it's all opinions anyways, so I never look at reviews before movies. I just go in and hope for the best.
01:17:15
Speaker
I love The Century. I think The Void story, in The Century story is amazing. Yep. I hope they do it justice. That's all I have to say about that. ah rely you for that.

Marvel and DCU News

01:17:25
Speaker
But yeah.
01:17:26
Speaker
ah In fact, I have a whole bunch of Century comic books coming in the next few weeks. I may talk about the character a little more in depth when the movie comes out. um Brave New World, Captain America. Saw it a few months ago.
01:17:37
Speaker
Came out on digital today. Or, comes out on digital on Tuesday. Comes out on digital for us this week. We got it last like the last few days, but... Oops. We don't we don't steal...
01:17:48
Speaker
Drop that. so Strike it. Reverse it. But yeah, coming out digital two months after was released. I'm sorry, did you did you say something? I couldn't catch you there. oh no Nobody heard that? Nobody heard that? Good. um Marvel has confirmed in a comic book that the Scarlet Witch is alive in MCU canon. Okay, I have no idea about that.
01:18:07
Speaker
Vincent D'Onofrio. Talking about Kingpin, and and what we wanted to what we've wanted from the Kingpin is him to be in a Spider-Man movie. um He says he can't appear in any MCU films. It has all to do with the rights being caught up somewhere.
01:18:22
Speaker
I don't understand that unless it has something to do... Even the Netflix rights, I don't understand it. But he can be on TV show, but he cannot be in any... He can't play one-off Wilson Fisk movie or nothing. He can't be in any movies for some reason. don't know what that's all about. I mean, Daredevil was in No Way Home, but I guess that was Matt Murdock. I don't really know.
01:18:44
Speaker
The other thing... The only thing I can think of is, unless he's talking about Spider-Man rights... Because his rights are complicated because he's a Spider-Man villain, but he's also ah a Daredevil villain, so both camps can use him, but maybe Sony doesn't want to use him as their version because they don't have the full rights of him. I don't know if I'm speaking out of pocket here.
01:19:05
Speaker
But Sony hasn't always made the best decisions regarding movies. Out of pocket. You're in the pocket. That might be a hot take, um some would say. oh so That's a definition of in the pocket, Kevin.
01:19:19
Speaker
I mean, they haven't always made the best decisions. No. Outside of Sony, yes. but I mean, and outside Spider-Man, yes. Inside Spider-Man, definitely not. Yeah. Hayley Atwell, according to according to The Hollywood Reporter, is going to appear in both Doomsday and Secret Wars.
01:19:35
Speaker
Okay, a character that has been around since the almost very beginning of Marvel MCU, so we'll see. And a weird thing, I don't know why Robert Downey Jr. did this, but he he released this this card for his birthday, for an invitation for his birthday party.
01:19:51
Speaker
Turned 60 years old, by the way. um And it's him with his brand new haircut, which is confirmed. I've seen real pictures of him with that haircut. um Interesting choice. Interesting choice of the costume. I do not think that's comic accurate. I fucking hope it's not.
01:20:06
Speaker
I think that might be just like a design. Yes, I think it is. um and Or like a pre pre-vis something. cause Because you got the real Doom on the bottom. and just a real It's a really really cool thing.
01:20:17
Speaker
I really don't think that's his costume. No, yeah, but he just turned 60. lot of speculation he's part of some sort of part of Fantastic Four. have to wait see on that. Because there was some somebody in the Fantastic Four set that covered up their head, and if he does have a haircut like that, that could be the reason why.
01:20:34
Speaker
um And, yeah. um They're currently filming some stuff for Avengers Doomsday. um Looks like the X-Mansion. Not really sure, but a big big battle between the X-Men going on somewhere, someplace. Mm-hmm.
01:20:48
Speaker
um Fantastic Four released a lot of stuff. Got a brand new poster. That's the X-Mansion set they're saying from Doomsday. um Got a new poster. This were this was released on 4.4, which everybody thought there'd be a trailer, but there wasn't.
01:21:02
Speaker
i've Got some new shots from the cast. We got yeah Ben Grimm, Mr. Fantastic. We got the brother and sister team. We got a brand new magazine cover that came out, I believe, yesterday for and into Entertainment Weekly.
01:21:16
Speaker
Matt Jackman talking about it being a 60s space race movie. ah They shot it with miniatures, practical sets, and vintage vintage line lenses to make it seem like a 60s movie. kind of figured he was going to do shit like that because he did a lot of that a lot of that with WandaVision. So that's why I liked when they hired him to do this. um Talked about the team being famous in the film.
01:21:37
Speaker
This idea is that they are the most famous people in America because they're adventurers, explorers, and astronauts. Not because they're superheroes. And they come back and they're superheroes on top of it. But primary primarily they're astronauts. They're a family.
01:21:50
Speaker
I kind of got that from the trailer. um Talking about the movie some more. They are in their own universe. Which is wonderfully and wonderful and liberating. There's no really no other superheroes. There's no Easter eggs. Eventually this world will meet up with another world.
01:22:04
Speaker
But for now this is their own little corner. And we've kind of been speculating that as well. um Like I mentioned. Those are the covers for an Entertainment Weekly. Got some new pictures in that as well. There's some here, some great ones. But yeah, I cannot wait for this movie. I'm very, very excited. I can't wait wait for the next trailer comes out.
01:22:21
Speaker
um Especially if you see the glimpse of Silver Surfer to see what she looks like. Another thing a lot of people were talking about this week is this this ring for yeah Guy Gardner, Green Lantern from from Superman.
01:22:34
Speaker
This is going to be for sale. I don't know who makes I know it's costume jewelry, if it's made from ah a reputable source. um ah ge I don't have no idea what it is, but um yeah it's going to be a screen-accurate version of the Green Lantern ring that's inspired from the movie. so Interesting.
01:22:52
Speaker
Got a new trailer. White Lotus debuted this week and we got a new trailer for a whole bunch of stuff coming out this year including Peacemaker Season 2.
01:23:02
Speaker
First looks at John Cena as Peacemaker. um him returning to the character so looks really cool we also got a first glimpse of a couple of scenes from welcome to dearie another show i'm looking forward to not dc related but um i do love it so i want to bring that up um superman day lot to talk about next week possibly maybe superman day is on the 18th which i think is friday um But they're in the promotion of everything.
01:23:28
Speaker
Every trailer is coming out. Stay tuned for Superman Day. New new comic books coming out. with I know they they did a re-cover of Superman or Adventure Comic. Not Detective Comic. No, what the fuck is it? adventure Action Comics.
01:23:42
Speaker
Action Comics, yeah. It's coming out. They're doing a re-cover of that. they're doing another version of that with the new Superman on it. Yep, I'll be looking for that. Hopefully. yeah good Put it up on the wall. That'll look really cool. But they also released this on their socials of all the all the umble emblems over the years.
01:23:58
Speaker
The history of the emblem over of the S-Shield on Superman. ah All way ending up with the Kingdom Come slash Superman one from this year's Superman movie. so um Speaking of DC, Vincent D'Onofrio talking about joining the DCU as Swamp Thing.
01:24:15
Speaker
What's the internet think of that? I haven't really seen much on Twitter about it, um but everyone in my Discord seems to like the idea, because they're all huge and into Daredevil right now, too. so Right.
01:24:25
Speaker
I mean, it's Vincent D'Onofrio. Who's going to say no if he wants to play that role? be interesting. Yeah, have very cool. Aaron Pierre currently filming Green Lantern. Got some behind-the-scenes shot of him here.
01:24:37
Speaker
Oh, no, I guess I don't have it there. It's here. um yeah Yeah, I'm excited for that show, too. It comes out next summer. um Finally in news, as I was just showed prematurely, spy shots of Supergirl.
01:24:50
Speaker
No official shots. I'm surprised because James Gunn's been pretty good of that. That's a whole reason why we got the Superman trailers, because it was released online. And was being shown on Twitter and everywhere else, and people were were were bootlegging the fuck out of it. So they released it online, the Forces of Solitude trailer.
01:25:07
Speaker
I'm surprised we haven't seen an official glimpse of Lara as our Kara as Supergirl. um But yeah, there's some shots of her there. and I'm not sure if this is real. I asked you. It looks like it could be. it does. Concept art.
01:25:22
Speaker
Yeah, it's hard to tell, but it looks very similar to what we see in those shots. Very similar, yeah. That's it for our show this week. Thanks, everybody. Next week... The Clubhouse, A Year with the Red Sox. Documentary on Netflix just came out. All about last year's team, right? It's good. It's good.

Superman Content Discussion

01:26:20
Speaker
And Sunday we got the premiere on HBO Max of The Last of Us season 2 which I am looking forward to. I cannot wait.
01:26:28
Speaker
Also next week we are so far behind. I'm going to try to make this my priority this week. Superman 2 and the Donald cut. Has to be done. yeah um We're going get into Superman 3 and 4 pretty fast and pretty steady going forward until Superman. I know.
01:26:44
Speaker
Pretty reluctantly also. Yeah, because there's a lot of shitty Superman in this time, but yeah we're going get into them and why they were made, and especially a Supergirl movie. We're not going to do a whole episode on Supergirl, but we'll bring it up with during 3 and 4.
01:26:57
Speaker
Because oof, that was oof. um And The Road to Fantastic Four, the history of the characters, Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie. you got to watch that. And next week, we'll talk about the three, Galactus Trilogy, ah number 48 through 50 came out in 1966.
