Introduction and Podcast Overview

Every Club. Every Day. That is an amazing beginning for me. I didn't hear any of it. I'm assuming that the start has finished and you boys heard it because you seem to be reacting to something. Anyway. Inauspicious. Hello, my name is Ian Mackay and welcome to the Daily

Leicester and Newcastle Season Outlook

00:00:22
Speaker
New Castle. Today it is Thursday of Wednesday and we're recording our crossover Thursday podcast but with Jake Litherland from the Daily Leicester. How are you doing, Jake? Yeah, I'm good. I'm i'm really excited to to look at the game at the weekend. We're on the back of two really positive results. So probably the most positive I've felt all season, to be honest with you. And um I'm also excited to hear your thoughts about Newcastle's start and aims for really for the rest of the season. It's important to hear that. I'm going to ask my yeah black and white buddy, Kev,
00:01:00
Speaker
they've confident and they're looking forward to a game for the first time this season. said How are we feeling about this game, Kev? I'm feeling OK. I mean, we've as much as if you listen to the inside noise or the outside noise in Newcastle fans, we've actually only lost two of our last seven in all competitions. So even though when it seems like we're not in great form with some of the negativity around the club, I still think we're in a nice position. But, yeah, Leicester, it's that new manager bounce, isn't it? We've always got to be wary of it.
00:01:29
Speaker
Absolutely. And you were talking earlier about a fantastic stat that Rivender's Roy is ah the who has replaced 100% of the managers who've been sitting in the Premier League this season so far. And not lost the game. Which I'm hoping he does continue his 100% record into a future months, because they exposed him in front of the manager very quickly. But it it also could, to me,
00:01:59
Speaker
that Leicester's upturn in fortunes, ah maybe we can ask to check whether he thinks that Cooper had to go or or if they got rid of him very quickly. um Their upturn fortunes have come with a whole win against West Ham, and we sat through our dreadful performance against West Ham, and coming back from too damn to get a pot against Brighton, who have also done the dirty honours at the second-genesis part this year.
00:02:27
Speaker
with one touch in our box. I'm just, I'm just preserving that just just because they're all sore points and I'm hypersensitive about them. But anyway, but yeah.

Managerial Changes and Impacts

00:02:37
Speaker
Jake, you're feeling more confident than you were earlier in the season, presumably. m I always thought though, the tack that the three promoter teams were the favorites to get relegated.
00:02:49
Speaker
was a little bit harsh when you look at the quality of some of the players that Leicester had and how well they played last year. Of course, that was on Mariska, who was doing the same with Chelsea in Premier League this season, and you had Gary Cooper take over, and the results went brilliant, but she seemed really, really quick for you to get rid of him. What was the feeling amongst the Leicester boys with that?
00:03:12
Speaker
Yes, it's one I've been asked by a lot of of fans and I think generally there was a surprise from from fans of clubs that aren't Leicester in the Premier League, which I sort of get because you're right, it was fairly early. I think after 12 games, I think we'd played 11 games, 12 games. So the main, there was quite a number of reasons really. It wasn't one factor. And when it happened so early, I think generally it's never going to be one thing. The results in the first, I think the four games before we went had were quite poor. We'd got a pointy end-stick switch with a last-minute goal and then we'd been beaten by Manchester United twice in the cup, under van Nistroy, funny enough, beaten by Chelsea and also beaten by Nottingham Forest. Those results obviously weren't great but I think the performances were quite negative. I think Newcastle fans can certainly relate to that feeling of watching a team that's really negative and and boring and it's hard to watch. you know
00:04:08
Speaker
ah and They go nods there from both of you, obviously for the audio listeners they aren't going to pick that up. That's all Ken and I saw until about three months ago. I saw Robson, I thought so Bobby. So you saw a better times. Once you got into long trousers, that was all you were watching. We know what you need. But anyway, that change was taken and it was very much always tempting and seems to have It's the new manager bounce, trying to tell. Hopefully it's the new manager bounce and we'll see on Saturday it's just the new manager bounce. But the results have certainly picked up.

Newcastle's Management and Fan Perspective

00:04:48
Speaker
Interestingly, we have had vans clamouring for more than 12 months now for Eddie how to be replaced, Kev. And where can you film them? Any anyddie thoughts about Newcastle perhaps?
00:05:03
Speaker
looking for you manager bounce to get out of this disappointing start to the season? I mean my my thoughts on Eddie Howell are very pro Eddie Howell. I think we'd be absolutely nuts to get rid of him and i um actually I'll come to Jake in a second. um It'll be amazing to hear what other fans think of some of our fans. I will say some because there's still a lot of fans who support Eddie Howell.
00:05:26
Speaker
they must be looking at it from the outside. And just like Jake said, they're like Newcastle under Bruce, under Rafa, um, just sitting back 11 men behind the ball at home against Burnley and all that type of stuff. We put up with that for years. And then Eddie hell comes in, gives us the three best seasons we've had in some people's lifetimes. Um, arguably joint with obviously what I've seen under Bobby Robson and there's a small set where I see a small section. I don't know how big it is really cause social media blows everything out of proportion. but um I'd like to think a small section of fans then want to replace them. I look personally I'd give any out of the end of the season regardless of what happens I think he's the right man no matter what but I am massively proud of how and like I said at the start look we've only lost two of our last seven in all competitions so it's not I mean yeah we've got some draws in there which we don't want but it's not the end of the world we've been in a hell of a lot worse positions than what we are now and yeah we want to be higher up the table but look how tight it is between I think
00:06:22
Speaker
I think between, I think I've said on the previous part, between now and Christmas, anybody between 12th and 5th could be in the top six. in You wouldn't be surprised which one it is.

Squad Analysis and Match Strategies

00:06:34
Speaker
It wouldn't surprise you. If it was anyone between 12th and 5th, it wouldn't surprise you. You couldn't predict who's going to be in what position come Christmas. It's a vast close. So look, we've just got to keep the thief in.
00:06:45
Speaker
I'm quite positive. I think it's at home. I think what doesn't help Leicester, if I'm going to be completely honest, which Jake might not want to hear, what doesn't help Leicester is the 4-2 loss to Brentford. I think the players will be desperate to put that right. I think Eddie Howell will be desperate to put it right. And I think we'll want to make a real statement at home in front of our own fans. and Next game since that disappointing result, I think we could really go for the throat. At least I hope we do. Well, let me just go back to question you posed for Jake, what's the outsider's view on Eddie Howe's situation at Newcastle? Can you understand why he might be starting to feel the pressure? Yes, it's an interesting interesting one. you're You're absolutely obviously from a ah neutral outsider perspective. I see last season as well we weren't in the Premier League so it was nice watching the Premier League for a year and not having a team in the running so it meant I could just watch it and and not have any sort of
00:07:42
Speaker
bias towards any of the games. So I think from the outside, I would be surprised if you got rid of anyhow at this point, because I don't see anyone available that would be better than him at this point. And also, I sort of look at your squad, especially the defense, I'll be honest and go, there's there's holes there, isn't there? Botmans, obviously a massive one with the injury. So that that can't be helped in that way. But Lloyd Kelly, someone you brought in in the summer. And I look at some of the recruitment and go,
00:08:12
Speaker
Where's the maybe a lack of quality or a lack of thought in terms of you've got Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon, both left wingers. I mean, Harvey Barnes never played right wing for us. And every time I've watched Anthony Gordon, I always think he should be he's much better on the left. So where was that planning? so So I look at some of the squad planning and the quality and these sort of elements and I go, well,
00:08:34
Speaker
how much of that is up to any how and it's like I don't know that from the outside perspective maybe you guys can answer that question more but I'd be surprised if you got rid of at this point and however clearly the board and and the owners are so ambitious I don't know sometimes be careful what you wish for in terms of it might propel you further on or it might set you back and sometimes you don't know that until you you

rip the band-aid off and and take the risk but and I think I agree with Cav end of the season or at least until you've sort of played cup matches and especially you know the FA Cup coming up you might end up having a really good cup run maybe a bit more of a disappointing finish but a cup run would be great for the club wouldn't it I'm sure you'll agree with that yeah yeah we're quite looking forward to that yeah we thereve we've got a quarter funnel a week tonight is it?
00:09:24
Speaker
Yep. Yeah, exciting stuff. I've got tickets for it. Excellent. I think I'm in Kev's camp with both big Eddie Hale supporters. We've seen how he's taken Laffer's team and Steve Bruce's team and converted them into a Premier League outfit that can qualify for the Champions League. I think they'll have performed in that season. But that's the quality of the manager that did that.
00:09:55
Speaker
You're absolutely right, there are holes in the squad. I think we've really been hamstrung by this PSR that was introduced. I think precisely to do that, to protect the big cartel of six, everyone terrified that somebody else might do what Leta did a few years and honestly be told all of them,
00:10:15
Speaker
And that's what the problem has been. So, you know, Eddie's bracing us, I think, for having to sell some players in order to trade. But we've got some fabulous assets that we could trade in and get some significant funds in the war chest to to upgrade. I'm going to pause there and do to do myself.

Leicester and Newcastle Player Updates

00:11:21
Speaker
Aware back. Who's going to turn out for less than them? I'll try to do a little bit of fair quick research to see what shape your squad is in. um Apparently only two fit. We feel this and do you suspend it? And I was reading about an a maybe you've seen him play or maybe you've heard about him, but I haven't. I was reading about an 18 year old he pitched from Chelsea last summer.
00:11:50
Speaker
called Goodwin or Goldwin? Golding. Who apparently is tearing up the trees and he might be playing in midfield and that would just put the tin hat on our home for once as recently if Cole Palmer's younger brother turns up and takes the care of us.
00:12:05
Speaker
ah but What's the squad looking like Jake? It's interesting interesting you mentioned Michael Golding so i I took the opportunity to watch our 21's play not in Forrest's B team only last Friday and he played and we spent well I say we spent five million quid on him. Dewsbury Hall went the other way and there were separate deals but obviously like we've seen they're separate deals in sort of inverted commas or you know ah you know they're they're part of transferring money effectively and He was alright, he was okay in that game but he didn't pull up any trees. ah I did wonder possibly he was a little unchallenged by the game and he could have pushed himself further but we haven't seen him at all in a first team game. and So I wouldn't have thought he'll chuck him in on Saturday. Oliver Skip and Bubakari Samari will probably be the midfield two with Hamza Choudhryzar.
00:12:57
Speaker
substitute option if you like yeah indeed he's injured slash suspended and Harry Winx has been injured for the last three matches now and I wouldn't have thought would come straight back in to start so he's still a big loss um but Sumari and his two games has been incredible, but it's probably the best two performances I've seen him play in the Leicestershire and he's been here I think four seasons now and and that's not because he's brilliant that's more because we've been so disappointed by him so hopefully Sumari keeps up that form but yeah you know I think we'll be fine in the midfield area with those two is if we pick up a knock or they're tired we don't have the legs to then change the game in there where Newcastle obviously have quite a few options so that could certainly be quite a key part of the game
00:13:44
Speaker
in the second half as we get tired legs. We haven't got those fresh ones, but like we normally do, to bring on and change the game. At the attack, the arrowhead, still led by 58-year-old phenomenon change, but he's still having him in in the press community. He is. I'm just graduating, of course. um ah Is there anybody else coming through?
00:14:08
Speaker
We've got Pat Sendaka on the bench, but he's been here again three or four seasons now. He's always on the bench. That's his yeah best position, isn't it? Yeah, exactly. so Just as Kalechi Inacho was, to be honest, and he was here for a long time. Jamie Vardy's out, out out ah Sean, you know his longevity has gone past both of them. and yeah He's been brilliant this season, Jamie Vardy. Every time he gets written off by any anyone, he just i don't know where he finds it honestly and he was he was unfit at the start season he spent most last season partially injured playing mind but
00:14:41
Speaker
clearly sort of playing on one leg at one point he was so injured but scoring goals um and i don't know if anyone who hasn't seen the ah second golden sunday I think epitomized how much he's grown as a player because the ball gets rolled into him. and it really square Yeah, exactly. ah Including myself, by the way. Everyone has said he's screaming at him to shoot and he just takes that second, rolls it across. Bobby Reed can't miss, or he shouldn't miss. Luckily he doesn't. ah But I think that just shows Fadi's intelligence the way he's grown because
00:15:14
Speaker
five five years ago he's probably smashed he probably would have smashed it in to be fair to him because he does it but yeah he gets us a a point with his goal great finish and then what an assist so yeah he's still a threat even though he is almost 38 next month I think a month today he'll be 38. He said hasn't really lost any pace either that I mean I know he won't be quite the same as he was 10 years ago but I mean he's still rapid Yeah, for his age, he's incredibly, incredibly fast. We have some very slow sit-outs that I'm going be trying to tie him up with. What are you thinking about, Artie? Are we any new injuries you've heard of? It was Joel Willick. Willick's injured again. Hamstring problem, which is not a shock because Joel Willick just can't seem to stay a fit.
00:16:01
Speaker
and Emile Kraft, obviously, I think he's done his shoulder or something like that. He's had an operation, he's on the way back, and Botman's still out. Botman's been out a very long time. Lasells is still out. It's funny because as Newcastle fans, we think, oh, we've got a full squad again, but we forget that because of last season, it feels like we've got a full squad, but we've still got four or five first team registered players injured.
00:16:23
Speaker
um which is which is a little bit crazy when you think about it.

Match Tactics and Predictions

00:16:27
Speaker
But I think for us, for Newcastle fans, yeah, we almost have a fully fit squad, which is really nice to see after last season's horrendous injuries. In terms of the team and my team selection, I think Eddie will go back to the Liverpool lineup. I think he's going to maybe try that to gnarly Bruno and Joe Linton combo again.
00:16:48
Speaker
in the middle hopefully to gnarly sit in central and Bruno is like an eight because Bruno played as an eight for the first time in however long and got two assists against Liverpool so I think he'll try and go back to bat and I think it'll be a front three of potentially Murphy, Isaac and Gordon. Isaac looks like he's coming back into form and we missed an absolute sitter against Brentford after going around with goalkeeper.
00:17:08
Speaker
but numbers wise is it looks what you do yeah i've got no idea i don't just walkkeeper but ah yeah did not see yeah he's a go round keeper and three three yards out, maybe not even there. Well, he's in my fantasy team,
00:17:24
Speaker
is it he's in my fantasy team so i wasn't I wasn't fussed about the score because I had Brentford players in as well, but I was certainly fussed when I saw he'd missed that one and surprised, away saying that he did something similar at Chelsea, didn't he? Am I right in saying a fair few weeks ago he went round sandwiches? Slightly different.
00:17:44
Speaker
Yes, there was about four players sitting with an open goal ready to tap in because it held on for so long. On the left side of the team it got into the box. But yeah, it was able to get there, someone got round and blocked it, didn't they? To be fair, I think with the pace of all certain halves, as much as I love Fabian Charles, so I'm not criticising him here, but you could probably bring Ruud van Nista Roy on.
00:18:05
Speaker
He's probably still got enough pay to keep it to ours, and him and Jamie Valdi as a front two would be exciting to see. I loved watching him by the way. He was one of my favourite strikers, him and Henri, when I was younger playing Championship manager 0-1-0-2. What a combination of them two were. for Great throwback, love that. We do work we do try to mitigate the look of the pace that Schar and Bernadette have caught because we've got two has been equal backs. I think that has helped.
00:18:34
Speaker
I'd actually like to see Trippier come back in talking about team selection. I think Trippier, if he's fit, I know he was ill. Again, was it a Liverpool game he was ill? Or might be an ill for Brentford as well, but I'd like to see Trippier come back in. I know he's not as good as what he was when he first joined, but just his leadership qualities I think will come in so handy.
00:18:53
Speaker
especially in somewhere like Jamie Vardy, who's experienced and knows exactly how to move around the box and move around the area. I think Trippier could really, really be a massive help if he was to start, but I'm not sure Eddie will drop Tino. I don't think he will, but I've called for Trippier for the last couple of games because I just think that you've got five or six great corners coming in there, two or three fabulous free kicks, and they've produced so much last year. We're missing him. We're missing him. We are.
00:19:24
Speaker
We have a bit of a goalscoring crisis this year, Jack, in comparison to the 85 that we scored in 38 games last year. and We're on a goal again, isn't it? A little bit more. We got three against Liverpool, didn't we? Three at two. Yeah, so we're not quite as bad as we were looking, but but all those extra goals have produced a point for us. I'll just pause there, then, with our squad reviews, and ask how to give us a global sports podcast network message.

It's a good message, whether it's a new or old. It's an enduring message in the same way as Jenny Vardy is an enduring sense of approval for Leicester. Still does the job. Yes, does. Jake, I'm going to use that as a fabulous link to talk to you about the players on your side you think we need to look out for. Now, but we know to look out for Jenny Vardy, so don't tell us about him. Too much I want to. Who else?
00:20:51
Speaker
Who else has committed to the squad since they were last in the Premier League that is really it's a real premonition quality that we ought to be looking at for?

Key Players and Transfer Speculation

00:21:02
Speaker
Yeah, the squad is quite different in in lots of areas. and But then you have sort of those reliable faces like Wilfred, indeed, Jamie Vardy, et cetera. But certainly the attacking aspect in terms of the attacking midfield, if you like, and the wide areas are certainly very fresh. and Mavadidi is someone who hasn't played in the last couple of games, but I know the fans certainly want to see back in the team. and But the real one is Balawa Knus, who's our Moroccan number 10 wide man. Really, really excited about this lad. Last two games has been brilliant. and
00:21:36
Speaker
Brighton a little bit more quiet but West Ham he was fantastic with a goal and assist and he I tell you something to really look out for him, he he really gets stuck in even though he's just come over to to play in the Premier League, he's still quite young, he really gets stuck in, likes to tackle. It looks quite tricky as well, it looks like a tricky little player. where I saw him, it was the game he got the goal and the assist and it was the first time I heard his name previously and it was the first time I watched him and I thought oh my god he looks like a really good find is he number 10 is that right well yeah so he sort of played off the left in the first half against westam then he'd moved into the middle even played out on the right and i thought he shone in all three to be honest i think if anything i think in long term he will be a number 10 but i actually like him off the the wings if you like just because he can get on the ball it depends on the game but
00:22:25
Speaker
ah Just in the team, getting onto the ball, he causes problems. Some work, some don't. So this there could be chart times where someone's running through. He doesn't quite make the pass. We've seen that when he's on it and it works, he's brilliant. But even when he doesn't quite work, his work rate is more than enough to to satisfy, really.
00:22:45
Speaker
do you think a hell of a pronunciation writer probably will look like a bad beforehand? Veltfast will be played in centre half? He is great. You know what? That pronunciation was fantastic. I'm very impressed. Luckily, I don't think he'll be playing because... I want to show them that you're just a poop collegeini.
00:23:09
Speaker
i was really hoping for that on saturday and now we can't do it because he's well looky playing he probably will clo and so he he hasn't startedd the last two jesus poor performances in the games before um e ah think he fell out with steve cooper at the start of the season like a lot did and there was a whole thing about him not wanting to play his left centre half because he's right footed so we brought Caleb Ocoliam and he played off the left and actually in Roode's two games we've had Connor Coney in Vestigard who have looked better, more sturdy, Vestigard's brilliant on the ball for for everything of his lack of pace that we
00:23:45
Speaker
the centre asked, we've certainly got a lack of pace with ours, but and better on the ball, more sturdy. Well, Faz will probably come on, he's come on in both games against Brighton and West Ham, so I think you'll have your opportunity to shout what you want to. But yeah, don't think you'll be hard. Conor Cody was in the air behind Jamie Faddy at school, wasn't he? Well, I'm exaggerating that as well, he's getting on a bit, isn't he?
00:24:10
Speaker
or just because you've been Premier League for so long. Oh, it's a great day. You've got to play for England as well, Nick Kelly. very experienced um didn't play much for us in the championship in truth i think he possibly just about hit 10 games and that was more a tactical thing i know that surprise less defense as much as anyone but he's probably going to end up playing more in the Premier League than he did in the championship partially rotation partially leadership lots of different reasons in that but yeah they're solid enough and lack of pace, you'll have chances on Saturday. I'm i'm very confident in saying that because we've kept one clean sheet all season. ah I'm just hoping you don't take them. That's what West Ham and Brighton, well, West Ham more than Brighton didn't think exactly what happened. Yeah. So we'll see. but we To be fair on Saturday.
00:25:00
Speaker
I mean, you know, we could have made three and up at half time and nobody could have complained, but we just didn't take all our chances. Yeah. So yeah what's the three points of change going to be for for that to to have a different outcome here? Will you tweak the side? I'm thinking, again, I said earlier, I think you'll go with a lineup which played against Liverpool.
00:25:23
Speaker
Which surprisingly, I mean, Jacob Murphy is is our informed player, which is really weird to say about it, because I thought he had a very good game against Liverpool. He hit the post, you got two assists against Brentford. And he's not the type of player when you think of Newcastle, you think, well, we're going to watch out for Jacob Murphy because he's surrounded by Bruno and Tenali and Jolynn and Isaac and Gordon. But he's actually kind of apart from Isaac who's scoring the goals, he's he's our informed player.
00:25:49
Speaker
I think it'll be interesting interesting actually because Murphy might not start, he might try and get Barnes and Gordon in the same team but like Jake referred to before, it means you've got to play a one of them out of position and we it hasn't really worked when they've played out of position. The only time it's really worked in terms of balance for all midfielders when Joe Linton's went onto a wing.
00:26:07
Speaker
And I thought he's had a great game on on both sides. He obviously cut inside from the right and scored against Forrest Jolinton. And when he was on the left, I can't remember what game it was, but again, he he had another very effective performance in it and a good game protecting Lewis Hall. So, yeah, I think it's going to be very interesting in terms of where we go, but I think we're obviously in your mind, it's easy, isn't it? It's got to be easy and golden. If Jake's talking about a lack of pace at the back,
00:26:31
Speaker
It's something Eddie and the team are going to know about. so Do we target that? Do we do we get in behind with Exax's pace, Gordon's pace, and try and hurt them that way? I will say, actually, let's also have another Puerh version of an ex-New Castle player. because We've got a Colicini one. They've also got a Puerh Warren Barton. Is it Christiansen with the middle part? Yeah, love the reference. ah You know what? it so Until you said it was Christiansen, I was thinking... I couldn't... copy No, no, I get it now. Yeah, Christiansen will definitely... If you can start that chat on Saturday, that'll be a very... I'll try my best. I'll try my best.
00:27:12
Speaker
Were you coming up for the match at all, Jake? I'm not, unfortunately. It's one of the grounds I've not visited in the Premier League. There aren't many, and it's one of the ones I haven't done. And I haven't even got an excuse because it's a three o'clock kickoff on a Saturday. So I wish I had an excuse, and it was like a Friday night. But no, unfortunately, I won't be. I have got one question for both of you. I'd love to know. Harvey Barnes, now, obviously, X group came through our academy.
00:27:38

I'd love to know, as he's been 18 months now, like what's he been like? What's the overall feeling around him from yourselves, but also just generally the collective? I would say that we have, like Eddie, we can see he's a girl scorer. We've cut it and put it in the top corner three or four times. Came on last year when we were trailing 3-1 to West Ham, and together with the other substitutes took him that game around for us to come back with a win for three.

But my overriding impression of him is that he's an injured, because he had a bat over, which was going to put him out for a few weeks, and it he took about about four months out to get over it. am He's unfortunate that he's been recruited to play in the same position as Anthony Gordon. Suddenly, Rabdon made it his own and got picked for England for, so it's really hard to leave him out now. So at the moment, Barnes is our superstar, isn't he, Kev?

Yeah, I think Barnes is a tough one. He's an unbelievable finisher. He's almost like if we didn't have Isaac or Wilson, he'd be our best finisher. But I'm not massively impressed. I feel like I don't know if I'm just a bit harsh on him, but he he doesn't seem to be able to beat a fullback. He's not particularly like he doesn't really get it. He doesn't even get a yard, which is amazing for somebody who's so good at finishing. You'd think you'd have at least one trick to cut inside and get a yard and shoot. so I think if he's if he gets a little space on the edge of a box and he goes to shoot you get really excited but other than that he's not particularly exciting for me I think he struggles in one-on-ones against full backs I wouldn't see his work rate is massively impressive but I don't know I feel like I'm being a bit harsh on him

but don't get me wrong, I would swap him for, is it Fatou for Leicester? him for him in a and an absolute heartbeat if I could. It's interesting what you say there about Harvey Barnes because there's a feeling similar in terms of what I felt towards the end of his time with us in He's actually, he was brilliant for us for his first couple of years until he got injured against Arsenal. So I even remember the game and he was out for the rest of the season. It was that but strange COVID year with no fans. And until then he could take a player on. His his best attitude was he'd take and run past people, lightning speed, take players on. He actually wasn't a great finisher. And then when he came back, his finishing massively improved. he was He was really clinical to be fair to him.

but suddenly he would never take anyone. and I don't know if it's and he's not confident in his body anymore yeah but after that he was never quite the same player and and I've never seen him the same and it it makes me gutted for him because he was brilliant before that and if he could have married up those two elements he'd been playing for England but I don't think he ever will because he can't.
00:30:27
Speaker
I think it'd be a great center forward if he could retrain as like a center forward who could run in behind and get in one-on-one positions. I think it's absolutely lethal, but it's frustrating that he gets one-on-one with a full bat and you think, right, you're a winger. That's the space you want to attack on.
00:30:44
Speaker
And he just he just cuts back inside and passes the ball back and I think, come on, you've got to you got to switch it up a little bit to give the defender something to think about. So it's very frustrating for me personally. I want to like him. I really want to because he has scored like important goals and we come back and coming off a bench to rescue points. I really want to like him, but I just think for 38 million pound, I'm a little bit disappointed. Yeah. Make a prediction.

He'll be the first player sold in January so that Newcastle can buy one of the teams.

Talk with us. I have heard it, yeah. He and myself have heard it. Back to Leicester? Not for £38 million, we haven't got that. We'll go with Leicester, I'll do with you I'll I'll be blind, I'll shake your hand and we're done.
00:31:34
Speaker
if that was already any sign in then i'd have to say no because we're so desperate for our defense and for it's a good offer though i think uh i think someone might be interested what about what about 25 in el canoes like rubbery right look we have to stop this buttering obviously you'll end up getting sued for it kev then you'll be out of pocket i don't tell you i'm going to ask you first jake your prediction on saturday Will you have a smile on your face at 5 o'clock?

I hope so. We've actually got a nice little cushion from that bottom three for the first time and it won't last because Wolves have got Ipswich on Saturday or Sunday whenever they play so that's not going to last unless we can get a decent result. I think there will be goals in the game because as I say we've only kept one clean sheet and and we've only failed scoring one game. So that tells me there will be goals in the game, your games generally have goals in them, you know you've got some good attackers in there who are going to cause a problem. so I think, you know what, in the Brighton crossover last week, I went for a 2-2 draw, and that just about came good with a late comeback. So I'm going to go for a 2-2 draw again, because I fancy both teams score some goals. And maybe we can, if we can just nick it, being a bit more clinical, that that's how I think we might be able to just nick something away. Do you have law protection?

I'm expecting a big reaction from a players after Brentford. I think internally from what you're again, you're only reading stuff online and it's all speculation. We don't actually know, but it sounds like some words were said between the players, not even with any how in terms of Bruno as captain kind of stepped up and said, this is far from acceptable in terms of where we are. and I'm expecting a big reaction. I'm expecting a good performance, but I'm not expecting to blow Lister away. I think Ruud van Nistoroy is a very good manager
