Global Sports Podcast Network. Every club. Every day. Every club. Every day. The Global Sports Podcast Network. Right, here we go. Leicester, Bournemouth. Wow, I believe we all have to fight for three points in that game, especially with the start that that both teams had this season. Jake,
00:02:11
Speaker
You're the home team, so what do you think? How leicester how how were Leicester games against Bournemouth in the last few years? And obviously, Leicester just got promoted back to the Premier League. So what what's your opinion? What's your opinion on the past, let's say?
00:02:31
Speaker
and So on the past, obviously the two teams played last season at Bournemouth and we managed to come away with an FA Cup victory. Abdul-Fattah, we were with a great strike in extra time I think. But yeah, generally I think the games over the last sort of 10 years or so since Bournemouth have been in the Premier League and obviously we were for a long time and have been quite mixed. and We had quite a ah poor run really. I think Bournemouth were probably our bogey team or one of if If you look back at some of the games actually, I think we didn't win for a number of years. and We certainly didn't win at Bournemouth away for quite a while in the league. So yeah, a mixed bag, and I think if it over the last 15 games between the teams, it's been five wins each, something like that. It's quite shared and possibly we might see an even game on Saturday. But yeah, there's but there've been some interesting games over the last few years.
00:03:24
Speaker
Well, I look forward to see what, what we're going to bring back from Leicester. Definitely. I think, yeah, I actually, I completely forgot about the cup game. I was at the game. I was, I was at the ground. I watched the cup. Yeah. I went into extra time and, uh, yeah, I was, I was hoping to go and watch next game away. I'm not going to lie.
00:03:48
Speaker
that didn't happen. um I still got my four Cup points from last season that I did manage to carry on this season. So, and yeah, the first game we lost against West Ham in Karbau Cup. We're going to look forward to the other Cup games that are coming. Hopefully the next one will be played at Vitality.

Jamie Vardy's Legacy at Leicester

00:04:08
Speaker
But I think I think there's one man to be scared of and that's Jamie Vardy. I don't know. Every time I talk about Lester, I think about Lester. It's always Jamie Vardy. It's always Jamie Vardy. He's going to come and break the corner flag. He's going to do this. He's going to do that. Living legend. He's 37, 38 now. Yes.
00:04:31
Speaker
Still smashing, still scoring. He might not be able to give 100% or 90 minutes, but he definitely leaves the mark when he gets on the pitch.
00:04:43
Speaker
Yeah, that's for sure. And and yeah, we've we've seen that in in the past few years, we've seen his his talent, his his scoring skills. Everybody loves Vavadi because he used to play in the National League and we all know how how he came to to play in the Premier League and get his place in the national team for a bit. ah But some of the goals that he scored, um I'd say he's rather passionate and I believe that he's going to retire in Leicester is is as well.
00:05:12
Speaker
Yeah, I'm certainly, I guess I'm i'm hoping so at this point. and He's had a couple of opportunities to leave. He could have left last summer and he had some offers from abroad. His contract was at the end of last season. So, you know, again, he he could have walked away. He could have done whatever he wanted, but it seemed quite evident with a few games left that Actually, he was going to stick around for at least another year, so we've got him for at least one more season. To be honest, he he seems timeless. Every time he's he's written off, ah he scores a goal, he scores Tottenham in that first game of the season, he scores Crystal Palace. As you say, he's not going to give you 90 minutes anymore, somewhere around the 75 mark, um but he's always a threat. He's still got good pace, incredible pace really for his age, as you're right. I think he's 37 now. He's always a threat. He has scored some goals against Bournemouth in the past.
00:06:02
Speaker
And he's still, you know, without him last season, we wouldn't have got promoted, which make of that what you will that we've got a 37 year old who was really carrying the team at points at the back end of last season. Yeah, ah definitely. i I mean, I think he he can probably.
00:06:20
Speaker
be there for another couple of years. um If Leicester stays in Premier League next season maybe and and probably retire, I can't see him going anywhere else. Especially not the bros, I think that's that's you know Jamie Varus. He's won the Premier League, one of the biggest achievements that did the football player can do. get an um unlucky with the with the European competitions but I think his dream is ah way fulfilled and I think he he might be ending career on on

Recent Matches: Leicester vs Arsenal & Bournemouth vs Southampton

00:06:53
Speaker
on that. you know Talking about some other other games so far, Bournemouth obviously had a 3-1 win against Southampton, Leicester lost to Arsenal 4-2
00:07:10
Speaker
um Do you think you could have done more against Arsenal? Um, and no, probably not. We were, we were tad, we were tad lucky in a tad unlucky. and And I say that in the sense of unlucky because the, the goal that won Arsenal, the game was, was deflected off Wilfred and indeed. He said it was an own goal. And obviously they scored another at the end, but so we were tad unlucky in that sense, but also a tad fortunate that that Matt Hermanson, our goalkeeper was absolutely unbelievable and made save after save after save, even though we actually made a couple of errors. There's one.
00:07:41
Speaker
which everyone everyone will have probably seen if it for, which is the highlights where he tries to play the ball out, gives it away. Trossard really should score, he makes a good save and he made lots of saves. So that's why I say in a sense we were tad lucky because on another day maybe he doesn't make those saves and we see a few more goals go past us. But and no, you know what, at half time I was looking at it going with 2-0 down.
00:08:01
Speaker
This could be three, four, five, and then you're really demoralised, whereas actually, you know, for 94 minutes, we were drawing 2-2 at the Emirates and every Leicester fan would have snatched your hand off for that before the game started. So actually, I feel more positive based off that second-hour performance.
00:08:20
Speaker
So far what we've seen this season is we can't marry up two halves of football in terms of our performance. And it's more often than not the first half that's letting us down. i'm I'm hoping sooner rather than later that's going to change, but we'll see if that's Saturday or not. Well, especially because was it just as called both goals for Leicester, right? He's a defender. i mean yeah yeah Yeah, he turned into a striker against Arsenal. and ah yeah well i mean we we we I don't know if you watched the highlights of the game against against Southampton that we played back on Monday, but we definitely knew what we wanted out of that game and we showed that in the first 40 minutes, first half.
00:09:02
Speaker
We let Southampton play football maybe first seven minutes and and that's it. and um I really loved what I've seen on the pitch. When Southampton scored the first goal in the second half, I wasn't scared at all. I wasn't afraid that they were going to come back. um'm I just saw Bournemouth taking all three points there, even ahead of the game, and and and that's what they did. And hopefully that will give them wings to to come and get three points away from from Leicester.

Bournemouth's Current Form and Key Players

00:09:30
Speaker
Yeah, well, hope hopefully not for for us guys. I know the last time we played it at the King Power was one of the games that sort of sent us down. And I think it was a James Madison back pass. And I think Philip Billing ended up running from scoring, which ended up being the winner. And unfortunately, as I say, we ended up going down and that was one of those games where we only needed one more point. So, you know, with hindsight, that might have been the difference.
00:09:58
Speaker
ah squa which youed right okay well before we carry on get into the second segment <unk>m just gonna go on a quick outbreak ah and the yeah see you shortly

We are back. Second segment, talking about this weekend's game. Leicester versus Bournemouth. King Power Stadium. Leicester playing home.
00:11:30
Speaker
Jake, your expectations, please tell me you're happy with the draw. Well, to be honest, we haven't won yet, so we need a win. We do need a win. Would I be happy with a draw? I don't know, possibly, because I respect Bournemouth a lot. Although you you've only won two games this season, I liked what I saw last season and and the the bits I've got to see this season, like the Newcastle game.
00:11:53
Speaker
But really we we need to try and get a win, sooner literally sooner rather than later. We've got a nice little run of fixtures like we're playing in Southampton, Nottingham, Forest, a couple others in there where where realistically we've got to get points. So for us already, it's a real opportunity to get three points, not take anything away from Bournemouth because we know it'll be a tough game. But yeah, we we need that three points just to to really get our season going. and So, I was researching a bit, so talking about the the previous head-to-head games. Last 12 games, Bournemouth won five, five draws and Leicester won only two. Now, there were in in those five wins, there were three consecutive wins for Bournemouth.
00:12:38
Speaker
I'm really hoping we're going to get them to the sixth. Luckily, you you did get a draw against Tottenham, but you drew against Everton as well, which we managed to turn around coming from 2-0 down in the last 10-ish minutes of the game.
00:12:53
Speaker
Probably that should have been three points for Leicester. We're seeing the way Everton plays this season. And obviously in the last few, they were always nearly relegated. They were just coming back you know in the last couple of games, managing to stay. But I think this year Everton will go down if if they keep playing like this. it's It's not looking well for them. It's definitely not looking well for them.
00:13:22
Speaker
Obviously yeah, talking about the last games, so Bournemouth coming with a win, Leicester lost to Southampton with defenders scoring two goals for Leicester. Strikers were feeling asleep. Maybe they wake up now, hopefully not. um On the other hand, we had our first, Evanelson's goal this um this Monday. So the new striker finally managed to find the net. And I did say in one of the previous episodes that he just needs to to to to find the opener. And once he scores, he's going to score almost almost every game, but I said confidently every other game. And I'd love to see now Evanelson scoring
00:14:04
Speaker
game after game, you know, because that will give him a big huge boost. Again, some of the other other guys, Semenyo, I had different opinions at the start of the season. And now I'm watching of the games, I'm changing my mind that guy um about Semenyo.
00:14:27
Speaker
At first I said he was a very selfish player and looking at the stats and everything, he's the, in the whole Premier League, he's the player with the with the most creative chances and most goal attempts. So I'm glad that he plays for Bournemouth because he's actually a threat to every team and hopefully we're not going to lose him at the end of the season. I believe this is one of the players that Leicester should be looking to Maybe Mark with two players up next game. so yeah Quickly on Semenyo, a few years ago I lived in Cardiff and used to watch Newport County and and this is going somewhere. Anton Semenyo was on loan there when he was at Bristol.
00:15:08
Speaker
ah ah yeah at bristol sea valley and bristol yeah Yeah, at Newport County. And and he he was one of the first players I saw in Newport. I'd like Ben Wye and a few other guys who now play Premier League. But yeah, I really liked him. He only played half a season, unfortunately. And then I think Chelsea bid for him. ah He obviously didn't end up moving. But yeah he's a player I've always kept an eye on. I really liked him then.
00:15:28
Speaker
and to see him grow literally in terms of his height and his size. He was quite small back then, he's grew incredibly as a player and as a person and yeah I know he's going to be a massive threat on Saturday. If he does score I'll have to hold back a small smile because I'll be thinking about to when I saw him play when he was 18 or 19 but hopefully I don't see that and he has a good game but doesn't score and the result goes less his way.
00:15:54
Speaker
Well, I think, well, yeah, I think Semeni is definitely one player to look forward to keep an eye on. He's got three goals so far this season in the six Premier League games. Again, I don't want to jinx it, but is James Justin going to be starting the game?
00:16:17
Speaker
Almost certainly, him and Christiaan have played every game, so Justin will play. Justin, so far this season, that a lot of goals have been conceded from his side and now he's scoring them, so ah it seems almost inevitable that a goal is going to come from our right-hand side of the pitch. It's just, which end? We'll see. Right. Well, I'm not going to lie, but I really hope for that clean sheet. With Keppain goal, I'll keep it on loan from from Chelsea. i yeah I really hope for a clean sheet.
00:16:47
Speaker
Neil, Neil, I would be about 15% happy with the draw, but I really hope we we we can get we can get three points up at King Power Stadium. And another one, well, Lewis Cook is in great form now. I expect him to start every single game, at least until the the end of the first half of the season.
00:17:14
Speaker
He had two assists against Southampton. He was the man of the match. I think he won ah one more man of the match award since the start of the Premier League. And that's a really, really, I mean, huge boost of confidence for Lewis Cook. New players such as Raoul Hall are right back.
00:17:40
Speaker
probably probably will start. I reckon i can see that Iraola is what what he's doing he's doing a rotation between him and Adam Smith, depending on the teams we play against, if the wingers are a bit ah you know, faster, with more pace, he'd he'll rather put Araujo, who's a bit quicker than Smith. Smith is now already in his 30s, plays more with the experience. I'm not saying he's bad, he's great, he's now the captain, and he had a great game against Southampton as well. He obviously did extend his contract for another two years, so so I think, same as Vardy, he will probably retire in Bournemouth once it comes the the time, you know.
00:18:23
Speaker
I've already mentioned every game is the same. We we seem to start with that 4-2-3-1 formation with two of the central attack in midfielders turning into wingers, which are usually Semenyo and Clivett, or the last game against Southampton, Semenyo and Dangotara.
00:18:45
Speaker
um Clavit might be starting this game. We also see Sinistero coming off the bench, usually second half, where you can see that he really makes an impact and then then you know he he always gives he gives his 100% when he comes on the pitch. so network and i meant and Right. ah Time for another break. And then we're going to come back and do some score predictions and also team predictions. Happy with that, Jake? Absolutely. Let's do it. Right. We'll be back shortly.

Score Predictions and Tactical Analysis

00:20:30
Speaker
Jake, score prediction first? but Well, I think other than the Arsenal game, every time i've I've done a crossover, I've always i've always gone for a draw actually, which yeah not very optimistic usually.
00:20:44
Speaker
But on this occasion, I'm going to go for a 2-1 victory. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. We haven't yet this season in the league. and But equally, we've scored in every game and all our games have been quite tight. So I'm going to go for a very tight game, but we just about come away with a 2-1 victory. 2-1. Right.
00:21:04
Speaker
ah uh Jamie Vardy because why not because he he's always a threat um and I'm gonna go for ah Jordan Iu I'm gonna go for something different Jordan Iu he hasn't scored yet for us in the league um so ah something different yeah I was expecting we were gonna say a brace foods for Jamie Vardy but No, I think a few people would expect that. so yeah Jordan, are you we've got Stephanie Mavididi, one of those guys. I haven't mentioned him yet. He's a very, very good player. He's probably someone I should have said really. He's he's always a threat. One of those guys hopefully scores for us on Saturday. And Bournemouth?
00:21:48
Speaker
is it on goal from james justin i really hope not um if he's go me know go wow fazzy's probably a good shout in our defense but no someone like my ah semenio or or evanelson yeah i saw his go a again southampton and your right might be the time where you know once he gets one goal he goes on a bit of a streak. I'm going to go Semenya because now you've mentioned him and I thought about it. ah I'm going to go Semenya because it almost seems written that he's going to score. Now we've talked about him.
00:22:19
Speaker
so one thing i forgot to ask when When we when we when asked about the score, so who do you think will score first? How do you think the score will will will go? Based on our games, you, ah other than Crystal Palace, I think we've scored second in every game. I think I'm right in saying in the Premier League. So yeah, that was that's the only game we've scored first. So probably you, if you do. Yeah, it might be a bit difficult for us to come back from that, but we've we've shown again, we've shown every game we can score and we can.
00:22:48
Speaker
Do I see us really going 1-0 down and coming back to win 2-1 might be difficult? So I'm gonna hope I'm gonna say we're gonna score first and that that's what's gonna push us on to then go win the game So 1-0 1-1 2-1 Yeah, go. Yes something like that to be honest as long as we win with a bit desperate at this point as long as we win That's that's all that I'm hoping for Right. Okay. I'll go for 1-0 1-0 to boom it right now i don't I don't know why. I don't think there will be many goals. I think that both teams will rather wait for someone's mistake to try and score because Leicester with three points so far after six games, they need to go for a win, but they also ah know that they can usually concede the first. So Beaumont is rather the team who is
00:23:45
Speaker
let's say, more keen to come back after the conceded goal. I really have a feeling that we're going to manage to keep the clean sheet and win with one goal difference. And I'll go for Semenio scoring this time. I would usually go for a Valison. And and the last crossover episode that my colleagues did, I wasn't there.
00:24:10
Speaker
ah The first time I didn't say Vanilsson, he scored. So I'm not going to say again, maybe he scored, right. But I'll go for Semenya, 1-0 and probably second half goal. So type first half, KG game. Yeah, I think, yeah, if they go with 0-0 into second half, then it might open the game a bit more. I don't know.
00:24:39
Speaker
Probably we'll see plenty of corners because we know that Leicester's got good defenders who can jump high, they're tall, they they're strong. Obviously James, Justin and then Voudafai. Bournemouth is a team that usually at home gets lots of corners. i I try and go and watch most of the games when Bournemouth plays at home. And it's ridiculous that almost every home game, there's over like 10 corner kicks

Predicted Lineups and Key Players

00:25:09
Speaker
in the game. And for people who bet, this might be a good prediction. But yeah, i think I think there will be many corners. Tough game with minimal score, 1-0 to Bournemouth.
00:25:24
Speaker
And yeah, looking forward to the next game against Arsenal, which is the internet after the international break that we're playing. So you had Arsenal, we have Arsenal now here at home. but If we get a win against Leicester, that might give us even bigger boost to to go three consecutive games without loss. So um yeah.
00:25:50
Speaker
Team prediction for you. Lester, obviously you did mention Vardy, Firez, James Justin, Mavididi, IU. Any other names that you are quite confident will be in the starting 11?
00:26:03
Speaker
Yes, the certs are like Harry Winks, Wilfred N'Didi, Victor Christensen, so far the last few games Caleb Okele, who's our other centre back, Matt Hermanson in goal, so most of them, to be honest, are dead certs. Our main two positions that we might see something different are the right wing, I mentioned Jordan IU, but it might be Abdul Fattawi who comes back in, or Buenanote who can play more out there or we see Buenenote on loan from Brighton playing more in the number 10 or El Canouse who we've we've signed from the Belgium league for Moroccan. We might see him he's played against Everton didn't necessarily impress but very early days for him so he saw that number 10 position someone like Buenenote I hope will play because he's been brilliant for us so far this season really really like him
00:26:54
Speaker
And I think he could make the difference. Steve Cooper so far has been a little bit defensive, which has caused some criticism, some negativity, yeah partly rightly, partly wrongly. Some I disagree with, some I agree with in some games. And and I look at Bournemouth as the sort of game of to put Wenonotte in, not to go gun ho by any means, but for someone a bit more creative, because we'll have a little bit more of the ball, certainly more of the ball than we were ever going to have at the Emirates against Arsenal.
00:27:21
Speaker
Yeah, I think Bologna is a great central attack in mid, and I think his time is yet to come. Just give it yeah just give him time. I believe it's the same case with the Vanilsen. Just give him time. They need to get used to it.
00:27:35
Speaker
right so um I tried to change twice and try to guess that Iraola might be starting with a different formation, but it just doesn't happen. It's not happening. So I have to go with 4-2-3-1 because that's what he plays and that's what he won't change. So Kepengol, I mentioned earlier, I think he will start with the Rauho on the right side, left side, Kirkis. He needs to be careful because the next yellow card means that he's going to be
00:28:07
Speaker
uh pausing the game after so yeah hopefully won't won't get carded but i can see him starting the game then uh centerbacks zabani and hoisin i'll go for hoisin this time maybe maybe even senesian hoisin um the new center back
00:28:31
Speaker
But yeah, four at the back. I don't think it all will change. um Again, Cook has to start. He's been great lately. Had a central defensive mid. Now, I think he will start with Alex Kota rather than Christie. ah I don't know why. I just have that feeling. Christie did have one good chance in the second half against Southampton. but I don't know. I remember the the end of last season, he's been very, very proactive and and he's he he's been everywhere on the pitch. And every time I went towards the home game, you could just see him everywhere. Every every third touch was Ryan Christie. He was asking for the ball in the feet, coming to get the ball, you know processing the ball, turning around, passing further, coming back again. But
00:29:21
Speaker
He seems to be lacking that this season. I don't know, maybe he needs time to get in form. Hopefully, hopefully that's and that's the case. Three center attack in mid slash wingers. um I'll go for Tavernier. Tavernier is having a solid start of the season. Semenya obviously has to play with the with with the form that he is in now.
00:29:46
Speaker
Clivett, I think Clivett will start the game and Solo Striker and Vanilson are front. and the Yeah, hopefully we'll see Unal and Sinisterra coming off the bench later. Hopefully that goal from Unal, I love when he scores because he doesn't score very often. He doesn't play much. But when he scores, it's a special feeling when Unal scores. I don't know how to explain it. You probably have similar players in Leicester that when they score, it feels special. Yeah. And Unal is one of them. And yeah, on that note, um I think we're done here for today.

Conclusion and Game Anticipation

00:30:26
Speaker
Thank you so much, Jake, for joining me.
00:30:29
Speaker
Hopefully... Thank you for having me. i'veve I've loved talking to Bournemouth Leicester and hearing your thoughts, hearing a lot about Evangelson, which I'll be thinking about on Saturday when I'm at the game. Yeah, we'll we'll see how things play out and and how our predictions play out on Saturday. And hopefully...
00:30:46
Speaker
If we come back with three points, that means that our next crossover, I'll be wearing this again. So let's say that's going to be sort of talisman for the weekend game. And yeah, thank you so much again for today. And yeah, looking forward to the game for the weekend. Cheers, Jake. Cheers, mate. See you later. Every club.
