Nottingham Forest's Historic Win

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to GSPN Daily Forest, where something that wasn't on our bingo card for but this season perhaps, we're here to talk about a seven nil forest win.
00:00:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's right, a seven nil forest win. Joining us to talk about it is James. um Yeah, I, from when I gather James, without wanting to put you off on the wrong foot, I don't think any of us were born last time, forest won seven nil, seven nil at home.
00:00:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's been that, it was 87,
00:00:35
James
7-0, wait, wait. When was the last 7-0 home? Wasn't that 91?
00:00:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, no, it's possibly AUR just about. none that None of us can remember. and None of us can remember, maybe.
00:00:46
James
I was going to say, her yeah now i was I was only about 7, so yeah.
00:00:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:00:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, sorry, it was the stat from the 80s. It was the last home top division hat trick, which is from Nigel Clough in the mid 80s.
00:00:55
James
i yeah Yes.
00:00:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
That was the stat that I was thinking of.
00:00:59
James
Yes, yes.

Chris Wood's Hat Trick & Team Resilience

00:01:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Chris Wood of course with that home hat trick going in with his away hat trick in Newcastle last year.
00:01:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, let's I guess start off James by talking about how ah great it is that we won 7-0 and then we'll do maybe a bit more nuance analysis goal per goal. So in general, what's your thoughts now?
00:01:07
James
yep
00:01:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Is second in the league insights, is first in the league insights or is this this just a perfect response to Bournemouth and it is just a match by itself and not anything too big in terms of the bigger a picture?
00:01:28
James
Yeah, first off, seventh heaven, isn't it? You know, that's the cliche. um Could have been better on cloud nine, but I'll go with seventh heaven. But yeah. There had to be a response to Bournemouth. I'd been happy yesterday with a boring 1-0, but what a response. you know After Bournemouth, everyone was giving it. Ah, you're constantly going about.
00:01:52
James
you know, camaraderie in the dressing room. And then there were some arguments on the pitch, as you might expect at Bournemouth, you know, where things just falling apart the way that they did. But on my days, what a response. The whole team pulled at once. And and we just showed why Nuno Ball is the way forward, at least for Forrest, and we've showed

League Rankings & Strategic Hopes

00:02:17
James
that. And as for and I don't know, we're filming pre-Man City Arsenal, kind of hoping for a draw in that game, I don't know about you Stuart.
00:02:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I mean, I'm hoping for a city win. And the reason being that sort of, um we we we know a city yeah coming back. So if a city win, they extend their lead over fifth place, Newcastle, Newcastle last last week, i yesterday. So that means we can start calling talking about the top four Liverpool Arsenal as a city. um We've got Arsenal and City to come in, I think consecutive home games towards end of February, beginning of March.
00:02:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, if we go into those games where City don't need to beat us to get into the top four because they're there already. And similarly with Arsenal, if Arsenal then lose, it means they're out the title race. So for us, in my my strategic planning, I would prefer a City win, although most people I've spoken to would prefer a draw.
00:03:15
James
Yeah, no, I see you thinking there because it would change the mindset of a lot of the teams because I think if City win, that's Liverpool's title. I mean it's Liverpool's title to lose at the minute anyway, but once they there you know keep that nine points clear with one game in hand, possibly 12 points clear by midweek, how do you lose that from february you know um that could have liverpool could win the league with four games to play let's be honest you know and so my worry would be if City win and then City getting amongst it we're gonna be fourth and then we need to rely on Chelsea Arsenal Newcastle I mean end of the day football's football is football and we just have to keep winning but I
00:04:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, that's the the thing is that these teams haven't been keeping on winning. And neither of us, of course, we we did as you came to at the start. This was our response to our only thrashing of the season, our only big loss of the season, which is one reason why it became was so, so impressive and and so important to react to it. But the thing is, it is immediately brushed off and won straight away. Chelsea are on a run now of, I think, one win in seven.
00:04:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
newke Newcastle lost two of three, Arsenal have been drawing a lot, South Sea City, we know all about their troubles, so I think it's so, so important for us that we are keeping on winning, you're at Liverpool, maybe out of touch, but even if, I think, in cementing ourselves, if we were the team in fourth, I don't think the teams and then in fifth would be like, great, it's Boris in fourth, we can catch them, because we'd be fourth for a reason, we have been so impressive

Champions League Strategy & Risk Management

00:05:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
over the last three, four months as a whole.
00:05:02
James
Yeah. The interesting thing and good thing during the week, I did want City to win in the Champions League so that they could progress one for the Champions League kind of algorithm, so give more places to the Premier League possibly, so it wouldn't be the top four going through to the Champions League, possibly top five, which gives us a bit more insurance.
00:05:26
James
but also and it means that City's next Champions League game, the playoff, will be either side of the forest game on the Saturday, two midweek games either side, and if it's against, did someone say it could be Real Madrid?
00:05:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, it is ramage in the drawer.
00:05:41
James
It is Real Madrid.
00:05:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
The drawer has been made, yep.
00:05:43
James
how like Where are they going to put their eggs? They're not going to win the Premier League. So surely they're going to be looking while other competitions. So I just said they're playing their best 11 either side of the forest game and resting some players for the forest game. And so that I think that plays into our hands when it comes to ah Forest, Exeter, things like that.
00:06:09
James
Just like play the kids. What's in it for us? FA Cup, where it's going to be tough going, maybe we get to a final, fixture congestion, possibility for more injuries.
00:06:22
James
Champions League, I mean, come on. I love the FA Cup.
00:06:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:06:27
James
you know, but if we're in a different position in the league with less to lose, I'd be like, yeah, FA Cup, let's go for it. Cup run, b that'll be the highlight of the season. No, concentrate on the league.
00:06:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, completely. um A cup run, if we were 12th in the table, say, we'd be like, this is a great season. We're not on in a relegation battle. Now let's really go for the cups.
00:06:48
James
Yeah.
00:06:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
But because yeah we've got a really, really strong chance of Champions League football, we don't want to mess it up by um struggling or putting out, kind of picking up a stupid injury away against Exeter.
00:07:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
But having said that, you mentioned City, they've got their upcoming fixture congestion. We don't, so we're spending this week in, by we I mean, Nottingham Forest, not the two of us, unfortunately.
00:07:11
James
i
00:07:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so Nottingham, the squad, they flew out this morning to Dubai for a week's training because Exeter Game is on a Tuesday for some reason. How important do you think that could be in terms of both team building and also getting some a well-earned winter break.
00:07:25
James
Yeah, I think it'd be amazing for them. Get some sun in their legs, a good dose of vitamin D, take the families out there. Yeah, I just think but it's it's got to be amazing for team spirit as well.
00:07:40
James
I can imagine last night, you know, Marianakis just thinking, right, you know, let's go. I'm sure there was the option for it behind the scenes and it was already all planned. It won't have been a spur of the moment thing.
00:07:52
James
You know, and the players may have had some idea that they were going to a training camp and i just not knowing where possibly. But yeah, I think it's it can be nothing but good for them.
00:08:03
James
So

Squad Strength & Transfer Window Strategy

00:08:04
James
that's great.
00:08:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Yeah, definitely. And that that squad, although again, as we we're recording this, since the day before the transfer deadline day, there haven't been any any incomings. But whether there is or not, there's essentially two new signings in Danilo and Sangari, both of whom contributed yesterday.
00:08:21
James
Yeah, both looked a bit rusty to be fair, and but I think it's just good to get some time back in the legs, some Premier League time back in the legs, trainers training, but match fitness takes time and for them to be sharp. So I think for for not having played for half a season, both of them,
00:08:39
James
They did well yesterday, Sangari almost got his goal when he was bungled over in the box and Williams got that goal. But yeah, no, it's good. I'd be quite happy to sign no one this window. I was saying to my lad Alfie that possibly, possibly, sorry, is in the other rooms, someone's scored, possibly
00:09:07
James
ah keeping an eye on the summer transfer window because not making any silly rash moves in this window when we've we've got a settled starting 11 but then if we've confirmed Champions League football or European football in the summer that's got to be a real kind of attraction for some possibly bigger backup players or or bigger stars who might want to come along um and be part of what is the the waking of the sleeping giant that is Nottingham Forest.
00:09:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, completely. I don't think we want to be spending money now on Europa League quality players to then have to ditch them in the summer for for Champions League, Champions League football.

Squad Management & Transfer Intentions

00:09:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think with the Dubai trip, I think it's interesting that they've flown out today rather than Tuesday, for instance, after the same length of trip.
00:09:52
James
yeah
00:10:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
The spying out on today suggests, OK, this is our squad for the end of the season. um I know they were in the celebratory gives white photo, Ward Prowse was not in that photo, whether that was just because but he wasn't in the squad whether he was that's because of an injury or because he is going is yet to be yet to be clarified but equally it does look like that squad is he's off okay yeah that's true that's true
00:10:19
James
going out He's going even into players. Cho was there, you know. So he's going. And I can see, you know, West Ham are in trouble. They've got issues. So I can see why he'd be going as well. Might not be his choice. Might not be his and ideal. You know, even if you're only a fringe player at Forest at the moment, I can see it being exciting to be around rather than going to a relegation battle or or possible relegation battle at West Ham. Yeah, he's going.
00:10:54
James
I cast my mind back though to us an episode pre Brighton in the first half of the season. We spoke a lot about Brighton being the benchmark and kind of looking at how they've been promoted, the business that they've done, the way that they performed in the Premier League and talking about beating them, that that'd be good ah and that being kind of where they are, and you know, top mid table.
00:11:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:11:24
James
ah would be the the place to be the the steady growth and different things but i think yes there is a real kind of shaking that off to say. Right of achieve that now we're gonna step further than you could.
00:11:40
James
um
00:11:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's again an interesting point that Mark raised as well when I spoke with him a few days ago and in a preview episode where he said Brighton were happy to ah their their end goal was to be sustainable.
00:11:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So when they qualified for Europe, they sold Caesado, they sold Alexis McAllister, and we both said that we can't imagine Maranakis celebrating qualifying for Europe by selling Gibbs White and Marillo.
00:12:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's going to yeah Yeah, so it's ah definitely the difference in mentality between yeah the data-driven stats nerd type teams like Baltimore, Brentford and Brighton, whereas Urs Maranakis, he's he's got his faults or his controversial side as such, but ultimately he is in, he bought Forrest because He was attracted by the challenge of taking that famous name back to the top. He wasn't doing it to flippers for a quick profit to a US hedge fund or ah our Arab state. He was doing it for his love of football.
00:12:04
James
Crazy, huh?
00:12:38
James
Yeah, absolutely. and And I think, yeah, the the the moneyball money money ball is fantastic and it makes sense, but then sometimes there's funny ball and there's things that you can't predict, like Murillo, you know, like Murillo and Milankovitch combined, they're just, that they're greater than the sum of their parts in that defense.
00:13:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely.
00:13:02
James
So, yeah.
00:13:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, yes, I would be very interested when we signed Marillo a year ago, a year later, was that all even then in the plan, we knew there's a PSR, we couldn't sell them, sign them both in one window.
00:13:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
So maybe there was already that work done behind the scenes that the patients to say, okay, Marillo, keep us up, and then we'll reward you with a better partner to help us grow the next summer.
00:13:19
James
ah Yeah.
00:13:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
So many other equipment team have been so on point recently that they would not be surprised that that was at least they have the length of its mind a year in advance.
00:13:34
James
Yeah. And I mean, you look at other the clubs around the league, Newcastle, Newcastle absolutely spitting feathers at the way that Anderson and Chris Wood had played. And it was whether it was two reasons. One, they never got the best out of Wood because they didn't surround him with the the formula that he needed to to bring the best out of him. Chris Wood plays between the posts, there's no point in him and you know going out to the wings and stuff like that. Halfway line to the post unless it's a know defensive corner, but that's where he is and then the rest of the team plays around him.
00:14:13
James
And it's working. Then you've got Anderson. They had to get rid of him for PSR. I'm sure it was like selling the crown jewels, you know, selling the future, selling the farm. So it's amazing that we've benefited from that. and But ah I can't see. I mean, everyone else, it's one off, you know, look at Leicester, different things like that. But I don't think it will be. and I think Mr. Marianakis knows what he's doing. And ah and we're building a dynasty and to take into the future.
00:14:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's hope so. so

Tactical Adaptation & Defense Strategy

00:14:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
um After this first break, we'll talk about the game.
00:14:48
James
yeah
00:15:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, two or three people talking at once on that ad. It sounded like on on my side. But no, do check Zengaster out. If it sounded great for you, that ad, then Zengaster would have cut out ah the echo.
00:15:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maybe it's such a test of that of that AI. So the starting 11, was it a surprise for you, James, that um it was a back three with Marato coming in for a rare start and Danilo coming out of nowhere to make a start after only having one sub appearance?
00:15:24
James
no No, not at all. ah think um I think ah maybe the Danilo one, yes.
00:15:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:15:32
James
Maybe yeah possibly expect him to come on later in the game rather than start. But back three, no, he's done it before. um I think that's the the go-to.
00:15:45
James
Whenever we slightly come off the tracks, it's right back to basics, back to um being solid at the back, keeping the clean sheet and then we can build from there.
00:15:56
James
and So, yeah, not surprised at all with the back three, even though some people might say, oh, back three at home, that's a bit defensive, it's not. and I'd play that back three for the rest of the season if I'd be happy with it, if that was what Nuno chose to do. So, I honestly thought later on in the game it was worth bringing a defender off and throwing another attacking player on and going to ah the back four that we played. So, yeah. i Yesterday I was going to go one of two ways. and We were either going to lose again or draw and it would play into the pundit's hands and it would be like, oh yeah, the forest trains left the tracks, the bubbles burst and and different things. Or we were going to roll to victory like we did. And it would be, you know, don't don't put this team down, the old Brian club. I hope no one's stupid enough to write us off.
00:16:52
James
and and fortunately it went the way it did. But yeah, starting at 11, happy with that. Happy and happy to see that and the fans were

Game Dynamics & Brighton's Strategy

00:17:04
James
were good with it too. Were you nervous at all before the game?
00:17:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, for me, I get the back three. Like you say, I think Moreto is a stronger player than either Jota or Sosa. So I think ah changing the team to to fit him in rather than picking Jota or Sosa, I think that was the right decision. But the start of Danilo, I think, like you say, that's one of those where we can either have looked back at the end of the season and think, I remember when we put in a Danilo who couldn't run and he got open, and he got completely Boston in midfield, or luckily as it came out to be, he was part of a successful team. So I was happy for Danilo, happy for the player to see him in there. It had that potential to be one of those, what was Nuno thinking, rushing back Danilo type scenario. So I was only only nervous just because, yeah, he played that ah five minutes against Luton and the two league games subsequent to Luton. CS Southampton and Bournemouth, he wasn't even in the squad.
00:18:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So that's why I was surprised to see him going from just five minutes in the cup to starting.
00:18:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But no, then I think nerves, I mean, pre-match for the those of you in the UK, watching on TNT Sports, you saw Marley making his debut on the channel.
00:18:06
James
Yeah.
00:18:14
James
Yeah.
00:18:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's well why he's not here today, he's too big for us now.
00:18:17
James
Oh, yeah, yeah, signed his contract with CNC.
00:18:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um but i was i was yeah But I was watching on... On the international coverage, and even when we went 3-0 up, um the commentators here were not joking, were only half joking saying Matt Sells was the man of the match, because Brighton weren't bad in that first half, we just took our our chances and we
00:18:37
James
No, they

Teamwork & Defensive Coordination

00:18:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
defended well.
00:18:39
James
weren't. They weren't, we made a couple of vital saves and I think Brighton, you know, paid far too little respect to us, I think, following that Bournemouth drubbing that we got and just expected to play 4-1-4-1 and I think carry on the the the, you know, battering of Forest but Yeah, we showed him. The manager, he's getting some right poulters now and for being a bit too gung-ho, for going out there thinking, you know, play four attacking midfielders and a striker, and that you you can turn Forest over in their fortress, which you couldn't, and we we absolutely put you to the sword. So, yeah, um amazing game, feel a bit bad for their young lads. I can't remember his name now.
00:19:34
James
and
00:19:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hint your word to go in the middle, who was yeah completely and and a lampy and a left a right footer on left back as well.
00:19:38
James
you
00:19:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
those is too yeah mean I don't know how, maybe before it's enough some spies, whether we knew that was what Brighton were planning or whether we then saw it when the team was announced and were able to quickly adapt the final team talk from Nuno said, hey look, why is there only one defensive player in there, midfield, target him.
00:19:44
James
Yeah.
00:19:59
James
Yeah.
00:19:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But yeah, where whatever we did, we did exploit that very, very well.
00:20:03
James
Yeah, the way that Elan go for the race. Langer and gives white um switch wings, switch positions and then went um double team Lamptey up the right hand side and just so Took them to pieces. we We defended impacts. We attacked impacts. and One of the most amazing things, I called it the Red Wolf retreating. and A lot of people have put it already on our social media, but there was a corner for us. um and
00:20:37
James
see There was a turnover in possession, bright and broke quickly. And then there was this wall of forest players moving across the screen altogether, sprinting back, six or seven of them sprinting back into position, and overtook the ball carrier and got back in position and faced up the shot. And and yeah, I just thought it was amazing in a way as a team, not just one or two people or relying on Aina who was the sitting player and things like that.
00:21:06
James
Everyone just got on their bike and got back to defend the goal with their lives. So, amazing.
00:21:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think that was really impressive to so to see that even, as you said, with with the naked eye, like so sometimes when you hear a pundit talk about tactics, you're like, no, what are you talking about? I didn't notice that. but With Forrest yesterday, it was so clear that out of possession, it's a back five, it's a three, two, with with Gibbs White doing some great defensive work as well. But then out of possession,
00:21:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was at three, four, three, Gibbs-Wylie and Elanga both popping up in the spaces on either wings. Yeah, it was just incredible talk to watch just how the variety of of the goals we scored, but also some similarities between them as well.

Key Goals & Match-defining Plays

00:21:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we'll play our second advert and then we'll, because we've got too many goals almost, we'll talk about our favorite one or two and then any any other business.
00:21:54
James
ah Yeah.
00:21:59
James
but
00:22:03
James
um your family needs
00:22:05
James
so
00:22:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
So James, my favourite goal was the fourth one, um because as I said, we've spoken a bit about the first half where Brighton had their chances, half time they made a triple substitution to perhaps, I don't think they were seriously hoping to get back into the game, but they at least hoped to stop the rot by shoring up it um that midfield slightly. But the fact that the pace for Malanga and Word going forward to um get Get that tap in and that their celebration together, which is why for me, of the seven, if I had to pick if had to pick those, um it was the fourth goal, Wood's second, that was not my favorite of the seven. How about you?
00:22:44
James
Yeah, I was going to say one just because I loved Alanga and the way that he crossed it literally right in front of Dunk sliding to try and block the cross. um And that was the one that settled the game for me. Brighton came out in the second half, like you said, triple substitution.
00:23:02
James
and They were not on top but they were doing well. They rebalanced their midfield and they'd kind of nullified our attack a little bit and we took maybe seven or eight minutes of constant pressure from Brighton and it looked like if they got the next goal it was going to be a bit of a tight second half.
00:23:24
James
but now we we took what they got and then sucker punched them with that fourth goal and from there it was it was history really it was barbecue chicken from there so ah yeah but other other than that I think it was good to see Gibbs White get that goal and near post run with his header kind of glanced it on into the roof of the net. It was a really fast and i'm powerful corner kick. It came absolutely arrowing into the box and he was well advanced of the and front post as well. So it was it was just a redirection of the cross almost rather than a ah directed header um and ye straight over the keeper and into the roof of the net.
00:24:10
James
So it was interesting after the game they said that they'd spotted that, they'd spotted there was always a hole at the front post on the Brighton defence on the corners and Brighton had obviously spotted that as well in the second half because that led to the penalty. and Gibbs White again going front post and being tackled to the ground whilst the Again, the the ball was fired into the near post. and yeah that was It was good to see the ref give that penalty, actually.

Impact of Lewis Dunk's Own Goal

00:24:42
James
I think I'd have been a bit upset if it had been given against us, but the ball was going into the area of Gibbs White, so you can't put your arms fully around someone and rugby tackle them and expect the referee to not have to do something.
00:24:57
James
sir
00:24:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's definitely true.
00:24:59
James
yeah

You do so rarely see pushing and shoving at a corner given, but I guess because it was going on into the exact same place as where we scored from before. and we We could yeah legitimately say, oh yeah, this is what we're aiming for.
00:25:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're aiming for Gibbs white at the near post. and Maybe that but was a factor in in the referee's decision and it was something that would.
00:25:16
James
Yeah.
00:25:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Yeah, it was it clearly detected was going to Gibbs white and it was clear that Lamb to prevented him from getting getting the ball. um Again, it's interesting that if if we've said we've we've spotted it to then tell the world that we've spotted it, I don't know.
00:25:28
James
yeah
00:25:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Would that then it just try to influence whether Brighton play next to remind Brighton, thanks for letting us beat you 7-0, tidy up your defence please, you're playing our rivals next. It's quite quite a bit of a strange thing too.
00:25:46
James
Yeah, no, absolutely. like Might as well have just given them that our tactics sheet for yesterday and said, here's all the bits that we found on your tape. Here you go. We don't have to play you again this season. We'll we'll go again next season, ah you know because they're not going to catch us, hopefully. and So yeah, let's let's help them against their opponents,
00:26:09
James
and especially k top four. So I think another thing, it was interesting from the goals yesterday. ah the The first one, the Dunk own goal was carbon copy almost of the the fourth goal with Elanga crossing into the box. Chris would be at the back post, fourth goal he was in the middle, and but Dunk couldn't risk it um getting through to him even though he'd got cover behind him and stuck his boot out and stuck it into his own net. I think that was, there must have been a
00:26:44
James
I know we all cheered, but also a collective sigh of relief around all the Forest fans because that kind of uncorked the bottle and gave us something to play for. um So yeah, that that was it was the beginning of the the end of that Bournemouth kind of cloud that we were dealing with.

Reflection on Brighton's Defeat & Future Matches

Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely. with the uncorking the bottle is a good good way of saying it, so two goals in a minute pretty much in the beginning of stoppage time and we could even have got for gone for an eighth. um So we saw ah Nico Williams get a well-deserved goal, he had a really great chance in the first half and he's been very very good, completely pushing Moreno out of contention on on the left back so he definitely deserved that goal and then made Jota Silva with a poachers finish when he had the Brighton defence collectively had lost their head, gave the book go ball straight to him and Jotter made no mistake with that finish he was presented. I mean sometimes you it's his first Premier League goal, he'd scored in the Carabao Cup, you have to get your first league goal, you'd love it to be a 35-yard winning goal but sometimes it's an easy finish ah when the goalkeeper gives it to you and it can hopefully give him that confidence as well to push on starting with Exeter when he's likely to start that game we would expect.
00:28:03
James
Yeah, it's ah it was almost like training wasn't it with the goalkeeper just rolling it out to him. I'm sure that happens a lot in training with the striker coaching goal or whatever just rolling it out and him running in and slotting one in from the angle. Muscle memory, he was always going to at least get it on target from there.
00:28:21
James
The Brighton all over, yeah, they had a bad day, but as you say, they attacked well, they had their chances, they hit the underside of the bar, you know, and that was a game of millimetres when it came to goal line technology and the fact that the ball wasn't all the way over the line, but as well, the fact that Cels got the slightest of touches on it,
00:28:42
James
and that will have raised the ball up millimeters again which would have been when it hit the bar it didn't rebound as far into the goal which meant it wasn't a goal so it was an amazing save even that deft touch so yeah all over the place I think it's heroes all over the pitch hard to pick them out of the match
00:28:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, exactly. at At least four or five, if not more candidates, giving us 10 out of 10 performances. um So yeah, I think that definitely sets us up nicely. um There's obviously there's no game at all next week. We've mentioned that the breaking Dubai and then it's Exeter the following midweek in in the FA Cup. um Yeah, don okay just just keep going for Forrest then. or Again, ah there's no no no faults I could i could possibly give.
00:29:24
James
No let up, Fulham coming. um I'm sure that the you know Nuno and his team will have exactly what they need to do in their minds. A bit of revenge to be had there, following the way things have happened in the past. And yeah, definitely another win away, and because that's what forests do these days. We win away.
00:29:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, we should sure do. And let's hope that this isn't the only time we're on this podcast talking about a 7-0 victory. Thanks for listening, and we'll be back for certainly a few episodes with any transfer updates or any other gossip from that training camp in Dubai.
