Mark, James, and Stuart preview the match against Newcastle.

Also, which former academy player would you resign to meet UEFA homegrown rules?

Introduction and Season Transition

00:00:09
Mark
Welcome back to GSPN Daily Forest. It's me, Mark, joined by yeah the brilliant Stuart and James. Boys, how are
00:00:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, all good. Those watching, not listening, will see that the sun is almost out. We've gone through the whole winter of evening records, but now it's a nice nice Saturday afternoon recording a podcast. and Let's enjoy the last few games of the season.
00:00:29
Mark
you? Yeah,

Forest's Performance and Overconfidence

00:00:30
James
Funny that. I've come to my dark room to escape from Forest's dark form. um the The hit and miss the last few games. and um I'm a bit concerned.
00:00:30
Mark
100% James, how's things?
00:00:42
Mark
It's giving like the Love Island private room. Do you know I mean?
00:00:46
James
Yeah, baby. Yeah.
00:00:49
Mark
Big fan. I mean, that's, you know, potentially as much excitement as we're in for this weekend. Difficult game tomorrow. St. James, they look like a team on form at the minute, don't they?
00:00:56
James
Yeah. um do we think Do we think that um like we we just smoked too much of our own right reputation or or hype after the seven nil and that was why Fulham was so flat or what?
00:01:12
James
Like, we're going bounce back or...?
00:01:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, who knows? I mean, there's just about enough buffer room that I think we can, if we really want to get top five, and that as it will be, we can afford to draw these next run games, Newcastle, Arsenal and City.
00:01:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm hoping for um a run of three draws in a row.
00:01:30
James
Yeah.
00:01:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Then i think mathematically we wouldn't be lower than fifth after that run. But no, it certainly is is crucial tomorrow as we record to see how going bounce back from Or Fulham and Exeter, really, you could say that's two two bad games in a row if you include Exeter.

Impact of Fatigue and Strategies

00:01:45
Mark
Yeah, well, three points at Newcastle would would give the three points rather than three draws, which would be helpful. um But I think one of the things that we struggled with was actually after the Exeter game. you know we didn't have much time to recover. Seemed like quite a hard game.
00:01:55
James
yeah
00:01:56
Mark
A lot was going on the pitch. Obviously, with the one-year injury as well, that takes out of you as well. Do you think that maybe, you know, Fulham, we were just bit knackered?
00:02:01
James
Yeah.
00:02:05
James
Now, i thought i i heard you say that earlier in the week and i thought, are we though? Because we didn't start the first team against Exeter. You know what I mean? we we We did make a lot of changes. Yes, some of the first team came on towards the end of the game, but they didn't play 120 minutes. you know First team players maybe played 60 minutes um with big, you know like you said, with the Woney breaks in there. So I just don't know if that's an excuse.
00:02:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
It may be mentally because it was such an odd evening. It was, think, the longest match Forrest ever played in terms of when when it finished compared to when it started with...

Dubai Trip: Boon or Bane?

00:02:43
James
Maybe.
00:02:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So even though you're right, a lot of the first team players didn't play all of it, but as Mark says, the feeling of seeing your teammate go down, the Carlos Miguel injury and the hassle of having to get all the way down to Exeter after that Dubai trip, yeah, it almost um mentally, I think, was the was the big challenge after Exeter rather than necessarily physically for all of the players.
00:03:05
James
anyway
00:03:05
Mark
Do you think Dubai maybe made a difference?
00:03:07
Mark
you think anything that's likely being to Dubai, obviously the heat, obviously having to travel back, do you think that's maybe kind of thrown us off a little bit?
00:03:16
James
No, they're supposed to be rejuvenating trips. You know what mean? Surely they wouldn't go if they thought everyone comes back knackered after partying all week in the heat. um But I don't know.
00:03:27
James
i don't know.

Tactical Critiques and Formation Questions

00:03:28
James
i mean, i think in Nuno I trust, but the formation was a mistake against Fulham, lining up with five at the back.
00:03:35
Mark
Mm-hmm.
00:03:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah but we You can see, yeah, it's exactly, it's a 7-0 win.
00:03:36
James
Yes.
00:03:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think he, rather than but approaching Fulham and thinking, how can i best beat Fulham? He sort of rewarded everyone else by saying, okay, let's do do the same again, which he had was... We can now see it as mistake, but equally, if he dropped player after a 7-0 win, he'd be like, why is he dropping him?
00:03:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
We won 7-0 last week.
00:03:55
James
okay
00:03:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think we really need to settle out of this um every game different at the moment, which is why why I would be more than happy with three draws, get us a strip team structure again back, and then push on.
00:04:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
in ah but There were only 10 games left after these three, so then push on from there.
00:04:11
Mark
Yeah.

Forest's Unpredictability and Current Form

00:04:12
James
okay
00:04:12
Mark
Do you think there's like an element of predictability starting to come into our game? You know, second half of the season's teams usually, the top teams usually figure people out. You know, we've seen that a lot against like teams that haveve got relegated over the years, like, you know, having to Hull and Blackpool all those teams.
00:04:25
Mark
Do you think that maybe, you know, one of the factors of us doing so well in the first half of the season is that we were unpredictable and we did change every week and maybe we've kind of got a bit obvious now?
00:04:36
James
Yeah, but I think the first after the first quarter of the season, it was like that. All teams should have known that that we'd set out our stall in the first six, seven games and it was working. The bubble was already there and everyone was saying, oh, Forest's up to fifth. They're never going to get any higher and stuff like that.
00:04:53
James
You know, whereas we've been up to second. ah So I can't ah can't see ah how... There's only so many ways to play football.
00:05:03
Mark
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:05:04
James
And if you're a good manager, you can think of how to counter all those ways. So it's all about how you deliver it, if you know what i mean. If you deliver it on your day, you can't stop it.
00:05:16
James
unless you've got lightning quick defenders who can get back.

Fulham's Defense vs. Forest's Offense

00:05:21
James
And I think that's something that Fulham did. I'm not saying they're lightning quick, but they didn't allow us the space to break.
00:05:29
James
And with only Wood and Ilanga leading the line and and no option down both wings, I think we made it easy for them um to keep that back line in the way.
00:05:41
James
So, yeah.
00:05:41
Mark
Yeah. Yeah, fair.

Lineup Changes and Strategies Against Newcastle

00:05:44
Mark
So Newcastle tomorrow, what changes would you make? Because, you know, Gordon and Isaac looking pretty solid, you know dangerous going forward. How would you set up against those two?
00:05:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
think we'd say back to the the back four, because what we had been, think the big big selection decision really is who who is that might midfield? Is this a game to bring Yates back in? Is it a game to bring Dominguez back in?
00:06:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Or do you persist with Danilo and Sangare?
00:06:08
Mark
Hmm.
00:06:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because the first time we do we do have options. We've got those two back from the long-term injuries. um And yeah, to be honest, I think based on when we do look at that good run of form earlier in the season, Yates was starting. So I think the change changes from Fulham, it'll be Marato and Danilo out, Yates and Hudson-Odoi coming back in, assuming Hudson-Odoi is fit to start. But that's what I i can see Nuno doing based on what we know of him from his team selections earlier in the season.
00:06:41
James
yeah
00:06:41
Mark
Looks good to me.
00:06:41
James
ah
00:06:42
Mark
I'm happy with that.
00:06:42
James
Yeah, I think i think ah definitely Danilo out. Not that I don't think he's good, but he wasn't up to it last week. and I don't think Sangare is worth bringing in and totally. So Dominguez and and Yates or Dominguez and Anderson maybe. But at the back, stick the M&M in, you know, and hope for a Desmond or sneak in a win.
00:07:09
Mark
Well, you never know. Last last season went there and won 3-1 and we kind of caught Newcastle unaware. Is there a way we can do that this season?
00:07:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's kind of different really, isn't it? Because that that was the fluke.
00:07:18
James
Thank you.
00:07:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
That was Nuno's second game in charge. So, yeah, Newcastle, of course, give us a lot more respect than they did at that time. you know I'm not saying they underestimated Forrest, but it it was Boxing Day. They were complacent.
00:07:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But now, because the... Situation is difficult different. This is now ah in a battle for Europe rather than last year where it was ah fighting fighting for our lives, hoping to get what proved to be a rare victory away last season.
00:07:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Even though our players, I think probably only Anderson and Milenkovic will play for us tomorrow that didn't play for us in that game, will still feel like a completely different scenario, a completely different forest.
00:07:59
James
Yeah, but what about two amazing players to put in there?

Player Performance and Potential Impacts

00:08:02
James
You know, if you if you were going to say, um who are we going to up the site with? And then someone said, after their form so far this season, Anderson Milenkovic, you know, it is has increased. It has made us better.
00:08:16
James
um But I think tomorrow it's going to be ah the fight between Isak and Wood, two of the most informed strikers in the Premier League at them the minute. um and and to see who can score the most. I have no doubt we won't keep a clean sheet and I don't think they will either.
00:08:33
James
i think there'll goals in the game. i don't think Leveramento is going to be able to handle Hudson-Odoi, who they're playing down their left back at the moment. ah
00:08:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Lewis Hall, still the other young, former Chelsea guy.
00:08:46
James
yeah You know, I don't think and don't think he'll be able to handle handle the combination Ilanga and Ina with them flying down there. So I would say Wood will score.
00:08:59
James
How many scores? Who knows? But it's it's the the classic coming back to bite you. um You know, should they have sold Anderson? Will he get a hat-trick tomorrow?
00:09:09
Mark
Oh, wouldn't that be nice?
00:09:10
James
It'd be amazing, wouldn't
00:09:11
Mark
So nice. Really would. Really would.

Squad Additions and Ambitions

00:09:14
Mark
Let's go to the ads and then we'll chat more about ah Newcastle next.
00:09:56
Mark
Lovely. Sounds good. and
00:09:57
James
six Sorry, before you go on, did you see some of the names that's associated with that by Unique, who were we're now like with on the list?
00:10:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's Cristiano Ronaldo as is the headline. I haven't seen any of the others
00:10:08
James
Yeah. There's Ronaldo, there's Anthony, not that he's any good. and There's a bunch of footballers like across Europe and stuff like that and loads of other sports people who they put on their webpage. They need to put this this screenshot on of, you know, ah Global Sports Network um affiliated with them.
00:10:28
James
But I was considering getting stuff, to honest.
00:10:28
Mark
I want to see the Bionic head page. I want to see like a picture of Ronaldo next to Mali. that's That's the future.
00:10:35
James
Oh, mate, could you imagine?
00:10:35
Mark
do you know what i mean? That's class.
00:10:38
James
this this this It could be, um you know, you could be you might be this, but you could be this. And show Ronaldo.
00:10:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, like a six-week before and after Marley's six-week journey from bionicque taking Bionique.
00:10:45
James
Sorry, Marley.
00:10:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, yeah, let's ah watch this space on our TikTok for Marley's Bionique journey.
00:10:55
Mark
Yeah, I mean, I'd be shocked if Ronaldo came on the podcast, if his face appeared.
00:10:55
James
Yeah,
00:10:58
Mark
be like, Molly?
00:11:00
James
yeah. but Oh, mate, get your 40% off by unique now, miracles included.
00:11:05
Mark
Yeah. Is there space light in the background? ah Wow.
00:11:08
James
yeah
00:11:09
Mark
It's like a Doctor Who episode. Love it.

Tactical Choices and Midfield Options

00:11:11
Mark
and Last season, Langer had a lot of luck down the right-hand side.
00:11:11
James
oh
00:11:14
Mark
Lewis Hall is quicker ah than Dan Burnett, the left-back position. um Do you think they'll though prepare for that this season? Or do you think we can still have a lot of luck with it Because I think, you know, going forward, I don't think Gordon will help out as much.
00:11:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
I Dan Byrne still plays. um You're right, last year he was the left-back who, at Antony Alanga, yeah, gave him a very, a very torrid time.
00:11:33
Mark
Hmm.
00:11:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
But equally, if Dan Byrne is now, I did the crossover with Ian from GSPN Daily Newcastle a few days ago, he said Byrne will definitely start. They've got a bit of a central defensive injury crisis.
00:11:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
like can So you can still use Alanga to Dan Byrne. Your main, medium shifting position in more centrally than he would do otherwise on the wing. But no, if that was, as you're youre right, Mark, that was the the key battle last year.
00:12:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Have it again, just in slightly different area in the pitch.
00:12:05
James
ah tell you what i'm seeing. I'm seeing a triangle, right? I'm seeing Ilanga level with the edge of the 18-yard box. Ina bombing on after him, but also Gibbs-White coming in from centre pitch, playing triangles.
00:12:05
Mark
Where else can we go on?
00:12:24
James
ah around Lewis Hall pulling Danburn out of the middle to try and support him and giving Wood a one-on-one with the other central defender and I'd rate him against any central defender for when that cross comes in from one of those three.
00:12:39
James
So I think
00:12:39
Mark
and
00:12:40
James
Unless they can really, unless they've got some pacey central ah defensive midfielders who can support that back four and get back um to, you know, make that three on three in that corner.
00:12:57
James
I don't think, I think we're going to have some luck getting those crosses in.
00:13:00
Mark
Yeah. So let's to look look at the Newcastle midfield. I know Gimmaras got a knock a few weeks ago. Is he is he back or is he missing? Because if he's missing, that that's going
00:13:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's Joe Linton of their usual three of Tonali Guimara. It's Joe Linton who's the one who I don't think will play.
00:13:15
Mark
Fine. Okay, well, that means Willick will come in and he's got some form at the minute, which is, you know, kind of a bit of an annoyance.
00:13:18
James
yeah
00:13:21
Mark
But Gimoresh and, you know, Tonali have got pace. Gimoresh, you know, always known for a foul, though. and But they will probably help out the back four. But then having said that, with Anderson in there and Gibbs-White, they'll give them a runaround. I think there's there's definitely, there's there's some sort of, like, success to be had there, I think.
00:13:37
James
Let's just look at our kind of defensive midfielder spot. Are we picking Dominguez or Yates?
00:13:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, I'm trying to predict Nuno, so I think Nuno will go for Yates, because Yates has been trusted slightly above Dominguez in in some of the previous big away games.
00:13:52
Mark
Okay, so let's try
00:13:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you're right, if Guimara isn't to Nali, they are more skilled as well. They aren't just the old-fashioned British get-stuck-in player. So I certainly see the value of Dominguez, but I have a hunch, based on what Nuno has done before, that Nuno will go for Yates.
00:14:14
James
yeah but i was just going to say i kind of think we need we need dominguez i think yates i mean one of them it'll be one of them for 60 70 minutes and the other one will come on no doubt um but i think we need the um
00:14:14
Mark
yeah so let's try
00:14:26
Mark
Yeah.
00:14:31
James
I don't know if we need to go for the physical presence of Yates to kind of just knock them down and say, you know, don't be playing that ticca taca in here. Or if we need someone like Dominguez who can kind of match up against them um and not get Megd all over the place.
00:14:47
James
don't know.
00:14:47
Mark
Yeah. yeah Do you?
00:14:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
What's interesting is it because time like we because Dominguez is a similar player but of a slightly less lesser quality. So Dominguez against Grimardz, it's like for like. Dominguez isn't going to come off as ah strongly, which is maybe why you have Yates who isn't like for like. He's going to annoy and get get into Grimardz's space in a different way. So that's again and ah another possible reason why why it might be Yates who gets against the shirts.
00:15:10
James
Yeah, maybe.
00:15:10
Mark
Yeah. Yeah, gutsy. um Is there you know a possibility that he might look for someone a bit more physical, so someone a bit bigger, maybe players like Sangari in there? Because if Elliot Anderson's the run-in, he might maybe put someone a bit bigger, a bit more physical in terms of Sangari because, you know, you saw the balls he was playing at Exeter.
00:15:25
Mark
If we are going for counter-attack, he he could ping some balls through.
00:15:29
James
Yeah, he was amazing against Exeter. That's what I'm going to say. you know is he going to have that time and space? And that's what they were always saying during that commentary, that Exeter players need to cut down the time and space on Singari because he's playing balls like he's alone on the park.
00:15:46
James
He's got 10 yards around him constantly um in order to be able to pick those passes and put them in, which was great. And he did a really good job at it. But is he going to have that 10 yards in this game? I don't think so.
00:15:58
Mark
Maybe not, but he might be fitter. It's
00:16:03
James
Maybe.
00:16:03
Mark
a challenge, isn't
00:16:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I mean, that's that's the thing.
00:16:03
James
Absolutely.
00:16:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
here where When is he going to get fit if he's not not going to play games? yeah but Whether we're holding him back for the Apes-Ritch Cup game next weekend, I think it is now, or whether we just have to throw him in and give the 60 and then he's the one rotated out.
00:16:09
Mark
it?
00:16:13
Mark
Yeah, maybe.
00:16:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
But no, it's a completely valid point. he Exeter was probably his best game for us. It's just the same. It was against Exeter and not Liverpool. But you never know. There's a player in there somewhere, I still believe that.
00:16:30
Mark
Yeah, I really want I would love to see even for like 10 games I'd love to see him get back to his like PSV heights I'd love to see him just monster through midfield.
00:16:30
James
and absolutely
00:16:36
James
Oh, yeah.
00:16:38
Mark
Remember he used to like walk through like teams I was like it was amazing when he came I was expecting like a battering ram and then it never really arrived
00:16:42
James
Do
00:16:45
James
you remember that pre-season friendly we had against them? And he absolutely destroyed us in midfield. Like you said, like like the the waves just parted for him and players almost seemed to... He'd got this slight magnetic force in front of him that repelled them out of the way.
00:17:01
Mark
Yeah.
00:17:02
James
Yeah. Yeah.
00:17:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
He scored.
00:17:04
Mark
I've noticed bit of that.
00:17:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Didn't he score PSV's goal in that game? I'm pretty sure he did.
00:17:06
James
Yes.
00:17:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:17:07
James
Yeah. And then I remember him signing on like the transfer deadline and seeing him at the city ground. Who else was with him? There was him and and one other.
00:17:18
James
and
00:17:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
i think it was even, no, Amababadele.
00:17:19
Mark
Was that
00:17:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
think it was someone random like that.
00:17:22
James
oh
00:17:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Someone less heralded there.
00:17:23
James
Possibly. Yeah. But um yeah, they were going in into signing everything and you are, ah this is amazing. But he got injured pretty quick, didn't he? And it's just never really kicked on.
00:17:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:17:35
Mark
Yeah, yeah. be interesting. i think if we get into the Champions League next season, it'll be interested interesting to see if his form changes and see if it gives it more of a direction.
00:17:40
James
Be interesting see if he stays.
00:17:45
Mark
Yeah, that's true.
00:17:45
James
You know what mean? Like, you imagine defensive midfielders.

Yates' Role and Champions League Speculations

00:17:50
James
I'd love to see Ryan Yates captain Forrest for at least one game in the Champions League, just as kind of a ah cherry on the top for his story, which would be unreal.
00:17:56
Mark
Yeah.
00:18:02
James
But then at the same time, there's probably central defensive midfielders out there who can marshal right in front of that back four and absolutely, you know, be quarterback for us.
00:18:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
It depends, yeah, on who mean, in in a Champions League under this new new format, I mean you do play a couple of pop four teams, so if our first Champions League game is Slovan Bratislava or Sturm Graz, you can see that being a game for Yates, like you say to cap the journey from bottom of the Championship to the Champions League and yeah, so I think if we're Europe, what whatever happens, Yates will at least captain Forrest in a few games. In Europe, you're right, but then and the in the bigger games, he'll and gradually more and more be shifted out. But no, will be I guess it'll be another topic going forward and how vastly the squad will change based on which of the three European competitions we we could be in.

Predicting Newcastle Game Lineup

00:18:54
Mark
Yeah, and how many we can keep as well.
00:18:54
James
yeah
00:18:56
Mark
Let's go to the second ad and then we'll talk lineups for tomorrow.
00:19:24
Mark
Lovely. Right, boys, three lineups. Who's going first?
00:19:30
James
Go for it.
00:19:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah so I think from my side I think the one I said at the start i know we've ah pushed the case for s Sangare and Dominguez throughout the episode but I'm i'm still gonna still gonna sit with Yates partnering Anderson so I'm gonna start with so sales and goal Adrian Williams still at the fullback I don't think there's
00:19:47
James
think got practice.
00:19:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
necessarily a reason to bring Moreno back in. He's ah an option, but think Aina and Williams, despite the disappointment Fulham, they still deserve the jersey for now. Marilla and Milenkovic, the middle two defenders, and Yates, Anderson, and that classic front for Alanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, and Chris Wood.
00:20:07
Mark
Yeah, I think i think i'm I'm pretty much the same as you, actually, Stuart, because I think the engine room is going to be massively important tomorrow. So Yates and Anderson definitely is the two. umm just I'm just wondering whether or not...
00:20:19
Mark
He will play Moreno for experience at the back. Just because with Aina and Alanga, you're not going to change them because the partnership is brilliant.
00:20:25
James
Thank
00:20:26
Mark
But, you know, could Moreno add something different at the back? You know, we struggled at Fulham a little bit. Could he add a bit more steel maybe? looked good when we were at Liverpool. You know, he's he's played a bit extra. so He's got bit more fitness back. could he Could he give us an extra dimension?
00:20:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's interesting. He was kept in January, whereas Ward-Prowse was gotten rid of. So obviously Nuno still sees Moreno as ah an important part of his plans. say yeah, I mean, i I think for now, at least, it'll be Williams and Moreno then coming back in if they have switched the cup.
00:20:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you're right, it's a midweek game now against Arsenal. Maybe there's a bit of rotation. I would say possibly not, but i will be equally, I i see your point.
00:20:57
Mark
yeah
00:21:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's certainly a reasonable possibility he comes in.
00:21:03
Mark
Yeah, i think I think I'd probably keep the same lineup as you if i was picking it, though. I think I'm pretty much on the same board. James, have you got any changes?

Homegrown Players and Re-signings

00:21:10
James
ah Only like we said at the beginning, getting Danilo on the bench needs some more time. um you know Some more shorter, maybe substitute appearances, not ready to start the game yet.
00:21:22
James
Moreno, ah don't know, maybe from the beginning of the game, he'll give it, it'll be better for him, you know, rather than coming into a game that's already stretched and, um, he needs to be going, you know, 10 to the dozen, whereas at the beginning you can grow into the game.
00:21:31
Mark
Yeah.
00:21:38
James
ah so yeah, possibly Moreno, but I do like Williams. I do think Williams and, um, Hudson-Odoi have got a bit you know but of chemistry down that side, probably not as much as Aina and Ylanga, but I do think so.
00:21:53
James
i think what would be amazing is if they play LaSalle, just for just for like all time's sake.
00:21:58
Mark
Oh my God, imagine.
00:22:00
James
He's not appeared yet this season. If he appears on the starting line-up and he just learns why he should never have left Forrest...
00:22:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is a serious point that we, in UEFA squad rules, you have to have the more the more strict in terms of homegrown players in the Premier League.
00:22:08
Mark
Yeah, 100%.
00:22:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like in the Premier League, your homegrown players means just English. But in UEFA, some of your homegrown players have to be specifically from your academy. So at the moment, we've just got Yates. So I think we will actually need to re-sign LaSalle.
00:22:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Carl Daldo and Matty Cash maybe be just for the squad depth because otherwise won't even be allowed our full 25-man teams.
00:22:31
Mark
Oh, God.
00:22:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can see LaSalle returning to fitness and coming back to Forest to be our fifth antebat next season.
00:22:42
Mark
Yeah, maybe. i mean, that's that's a good podcast in itself. i think Matty Cash could do a job for us, actually. I really think he could.
00:22:47
James
Yeah, who would you take back?
00:22:48
Mark
Matty
00:22:49
James
think Matty Kasher.
00:22:51
Mark
Cash, I would. Matty Cash, I would, because think I could put Ina at left back then.
00:22:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah or even as ah as an option, you have rotate, because Ayn has not really got a competition at the moment.
00:22:56
Mark
And that.
00:23:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's Eric Marrera, plays the cup games, the the teenager.
00:23:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, certainly think like Matty Cash is a competition at Ryback. He's not necessarily in Villa's first choice 11. So yeah, I think to make up that quota, I think we need three more. So would say Matty Cash, Jamal Dessal, and Karl Dolo as a third choice keeper, because he you do a job as making occasional cup appearance.
00:23:05
Mark
That's true.
00:23:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it's
00:23:23
Mark
How many do you need? Four or five?
00:23:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we've got Yates, just Yates at the moment. So we need we need three three more.
00:23:30
Mark
I'd probably go Matty Cash. Darlow's a good option as a third keeper.
00:23:33
James
Perhaps.
00:23:34
Mark
um And I think, oh, do love Jamal Assel, though, but he's not really very useful. I think in terms of using the the spaces wisely, I think yeah just call you've got to break that bank and just go, do you know what, let's bring Brennan back.
00:23:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:23:47
James
That's a shout. That is a shout. Do you think, because he's never really caught fire at Tottenham. He had that short spell um after he deleted his socials and scored like four games in a row and everyone was like, oh, amazing, you know, concentrating on football and he's this player and everything and then it did just fell apart again, didn't it?
00:24:06
Mark
Yeah.
00:24:06
James
So maybe coming back would be, um yeah, good for him.
00:24:11
Mark
yeah Surprise appearance, Lewis McGugan off the bench. but of an apppa What happened to Arvin Appiah?
00:24:16
James
You heard?
00:24:18
Mark
He was quality and he just disappeared. He went to Spain, didn't he? It's nothing.
00:24:21
James
Yeah.
00:24:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
I see that such a weird question. think he's definitely been at least another two or three countries after Spain. So he's been here, there and everywhere. But no, again, he's another one who late Favazero when we'd sold him, Brereton, even Oliver Burke, every year we'd sell a random teenager for 8 million quid. But yeah, he's a great who never never took off.
00:24:42
Mark
Yeah, well, that's the thing. I mean, with Brereton and Burke Worrell, same as LaSalle, you can't really use them. But I think we'd have to probably go for Brennan, won't we?
00:24:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, well, why not? I was thinking of the cheaper end of the squad depth, but no, why not push the vote out to get Brennan back in our Champions League

Match Predictions and Scenarios

00:24:59
Mark
Be nice, wouldn't it? Predictions for tomorrow. Stuart, what are saying?
00:25:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
team? I'm going to go for 2-1, 2-1 Forrest. I know I said would take a draw at the start of the episode, but I've got to predict a win. You're right, I think Izak will score against us, but then it'll be the two old Geordie boys of Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson with our goals.
00:25:19
Mark
James.
00:25:20
James
Mate, I'm going for a single Desmond win, so it's going to be a three two
00:25:25
Mark
could see that. I could see that.
00:25:27
James
Yeah, it's going to go two two and then...
00:25:28
Mark
Stuart, I think I think I'm going to join.
00:25:31
James
Go on, sorry.
00:25:32
Mark
what Big winner at the end.
00:25:33
James
Yeah.
00:25:34
Mark
three to
00:25:35
James
Yeah, we'll be on for the Desmond 2-2 and then we'll get the single on top right at the end. 96 minutes.
00:25:41
Mark
you know what? I was actually, do you know what, Stuart? I was going to join you, but i think I'm going to join James, right? Realistically, if I'm honest, I think Newcastle will probably edge it 2-1. But in terms of positive thinking, the Forest fans going for the win, I think it'll be 3-2, but I'm going to go the opposite to you, James. I think we'll go 2-0 up.
00:25:57
Mark
They might score. We'll get a third, and then we'll try and throw it away at the end, and we'll just survive.
00:26:02
James
Okay, I thought you were say they were going to win 3-2.
00:26:02
Mark
That's more realistic.
00:26:05
James
Yeah, that that is more realistic.
00:26:05
Mark
No, no, I think, or we'll go 3-0 up, and then we'll concede 2 at start of the second half, and hang on.
00:26:11
James
That would be awful, wouldn't it? I'd much rather 2-2, everyone going hell for leather right to the end, both teams, and then them hit the hit the bar at the other end after 10 minutes of epic pressure.
00:26:22
James
And then as it hits the bar, Sells catches it, right? Sells just bowls it out. Yeah. Ilanga up the right Cho coming in and then Ilanga crosses it Cho goes for the overhead kick misses it but everyone's sent the other way and then there's Chris Wood at the back post just to nod it in
00:26:45
Mark
On his knees, hands on knees and just touched it across the line.
00:26:47
James
you heard it here first folks
00:26:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
So i really hope that clips up for Zencastr. Some ah excellent actions from James there as is' describing that goal.
00:26:57
James
but Could you imagine?
00:26:57
Mark
That really was quite phenomenal. I'd love it if it played out exactly like that. I'd be like, okay, describe the win every week and we'll go into the Champions League. Perfect.
00:27:07
James
ah people i' i' have people lining up at the door for fortune telling. £40 a reading.
00:27:12
Mark
You actually would. In your X Factor room. Fantastic. Come into the X Factor room. I'll read your palms.
00:27:18
James
That's right. You heard it here first.
00:27:20
Mark
Right here.
00:27:21
James
Sorry.
00:27:22
Mark
James Rigby. Fantastic. Love it. Right, boys, pleasure. Good podcast. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. God, I hope we get the three points. I really do. And the yeah, stick tuned to GSPN Daily because we'll do a roundup of the game after tomorrow's action.
00:27:31
James
Got to.
00:27:38
Mark
It's going to be a big one.
