Season's Significance and Expectations

00:00:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome back to the GSPN Forest podcast. Joining me, Stuart, on Easter Monday, we have Marley. Marley, how are you doing?
00:00:19
Marley- NUNO
I am very nervous considering what tonight means for our season. But than that, doing pretty good.
00:00:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just out of bed. Literally five minutes ago is James. James, good morning and how are things going?
00:00:33
James
Mate, you're giving away all the trade secrets of, you know, being able to podcast from bed. I'm not in bed. No, I'm all right. To be honest with you, I think it's better this way.
00:00:45
James
um You know, we've got some skin in the game now. It's been too easy this season so far.

Champions League Qualification Concerns

00:00:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, we've been third since, I think, Boxing Day. So since we actually last played Spurs, we had been third an entire time until just after um the Villa defeat. i think we slipped to fourth. Now we slipped to sixth after the games this weekend.
00:01:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
But with a win tonight, again against Spurs, we regain our third spot. Is that the be-all and end-all? Is it must-win? Or is a draw, a good performance after a disappointing a couple of losses?
00:01:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Acceptable.
00:01:21
James
I must win.
00:01:23
Marley- NUNO
Yeah, must win. I think if we draw, that will put us on 58 points, which is level on points with Man City.
00:01:24
James
Me.
00:01:31
Marley- NUNO
So Champions League football will still be in our own hands. So I guess it's acceptable, but a loss cannot happen because we will remain sick, which means we have to rely on Chelsea City or Newcastle slipping up in order to get Champions League football again, which...
00:01:47
Marley- NUNO
Although it wouldn't be an absolute disaster, I feel like in terms of keeping the squad we've built together, it would be. Because there's a lot of players that would have their heads turned quite easily if a Champions League club came knocking with how we've done this season.
00:02:01
James
Yeah, I do think we could be victims of our own success in that respect. But, but, but I'm just going to say that at the beginning of the season, would we have taken ninth?
00:02:16
James
Missing out on Europe, but top half of the table and seeing it as fantastic progress.
00:02:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, I mean, at the start of the season, yeah, we were all saying um we just don't want to be in any relegation battle. So ninth at the start of the season would have been would have been perfect.
00:02:23
Marley- NUNO
Yes, without doubt.
00:02:32
James
yeah
00:02:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
But no, the expectations do change. If we miss out in Europe completely, that would be now devastating almost, and it would represent throwing it away.
00:02:40
James
Yeah.
00:02:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
um i can't remember when it was, but I know what you mean.
00:02:46
James
Yeah.
00:02:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
the start of the season, we'd have happily taken ninth, but...
00:02:52
James
Yeah.
00:02:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, expectations change, thoughts change.
00:02:53
James
I'm
00:02:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, but

Chelsea as a Pivotal Opponent

00:02:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
no, you're right.
00:02:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
At the start, whatever happens, we need to take a bit of perspective and say this has been one of the best seasons ever as a Forest fan.
00:02:56
James
not,
00:03:04
James
Yeah, I'm not saying ninth is ah that I'd be happy with ninth. I'd be absolutely devastated like you. And be honest with you, I'll be upset if we don't get Champions League football now because we've been in third for so long and kind of cemented that place.
00:03:17
James
And there's been so many pundits like written us off. Ooh, I'm Forrester Gun or whatever. And if we drop away now and prove them right... um Yeah, I'll be absolutely devastated. But I just have to try and temper my ah anger and sadness with how well we have done and how far we've come.
00:03:37
James
um And I know that's kind of loser speaking. I should just be like, oh, no, we're going to do it. You know, lions and all that. And let's get some more stars. But it's just I said, if you were writing a script for the season,
00:03:53
James
And you've got this fairy tale, what's the best end but a cup final, and I'm not talking about the FA Cup final that we're going to get to win. I'm talking about the cup final that is the last day at the city ground, Chelsea versus Forest, playoff for the Champions League.
00:04:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, now though that could be crazy.
00:04:13
James
That's it.
00:04:16
James
that's it
00:04:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that's realistic. I mean, to be honest, I honestly think it will be um yeah Newcastle third, um si City fourth maybe, and then, yeah, between us and Chelsea with Villa still in with a shout, all playing for that fifth spot on on the last day of the season.
00:04:24
James
Thank you.
00:04:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I do think you're right. It will be a cup final winner it takes all as against Chelsea on 24th of May, no, 25th of May. So, yeah, I think it's, I mean, that is our biggest game.
00:04:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, apart from tonight, that's our toughest fixture left. Chelsea at home on the last day of the season, I think. So, yeah, I think as long as we keep winning starting tonight, I think we we should be OK.
00:04:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
As you write, Champions League isn't now the goal.
00:04:56
James
you
00:04:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Europa League would feel a bit like a consolation prize after the season we've had so far. and I think tonight and Chelsea at home on the last day are our two trickiest fixtures left.
00:05:09
Marley- NUNO
Yeah, I think...
00:05:09
James
yeah
00:05:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Marley, what's your thoughts about that potential of a last day shootout? Or think it will be over and done with before then?
00:05:17
Marley- NUNO
I think it'll come down to final day against Chelsea and that's going to be the scariest game we have all season, even if we do make the FA Cup final. And so... I just hope the boys are ready. I mean, we've got the FA Cup semi-final and final if we make it before that.
00:05:31
Marley- NUNO
So they'll have plenty of practice in them for that situation, whereas Chelsea won't. But then Chelsea are more experienced at this level. So they've got that advantage over us. I think the deciding factor could be home advantage for us. The city ground crowd roaring us on.
00:05:47
Marley- NUNO
It'll be a case of an atmosphere in which you cannot physically lose the football match. And all we really have to do is make sure we're fifth going into that match so that a draw is going to be enough and we can just squeak it out.
00:06:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
and

Player Performances and Lineup Analysis

00:06:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just because we've been not doing an episode in in the last last few days, what are our thoughts looking back with a bit of distance again about the Villa and and the Everton losses?
00:06:04
James
Yeah.
00:06:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
are Certainly the immediate thoughts were Villa, injury hit, Forrest played really well. Everton should have put them to bed with our weaker performances of the season. Now, if the dust has settled, would you two both agree on those summaries? Villa unlucky, Everton pretty bad or any sort of other insights or thoughts from those two games?
00:06:35
Marley- NUNO
that.
00:06:36
James
I think we were missing a striker for both games. One, because Wood wasn't on the ah the field for Villa. He just wasn't a striker on the field for Villa. And two, because he just wasn't Wood in the Everton game. He wasn't at it at all.
00:06:51
James
um and we probably should have played the same team we played at Villa against Everton, and we'd have won. and But then people would have said, oh, if Wood was fit, why don't we play him? It was kind of a ah Ronaldo in the France 98 final. You've got to play him just because of his name. um But the the Villa one, we threw away in the first half, obviously.
00:07:12
James
What is it about this five at the back? Because we we don't seem to be able... to start very well with this. <unk> I don't know what it is because what was the big loss?
00:07:26
James
um Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
00:07:27
Marley- NUNO
former 5-0.
00:07:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Bournemouth, Bournemouth.
00:07:28
James
The five, no.
00:07:28
Marley- NUNO
i've known
00:07:29
James
Bormer started five at the back. We were sixes and sevens the whole time and and they absolutely destroyed us and tore us apart because no one knew where they were going. And then Villa, that 10 minutes,
00:07:42
James
Five at the back. No one knew where they were going. um You know, it just looked like, oh, you should be getting it. You should be getting it. No, that's your space. Like, but then when it comes to the end of the game, we go five at the back.
00:07:57
James
Absolutely solid. No idea what's going on.
00:08:01
Marley- NUNO
I do feel like there's who two factors in there.
00:08:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's, sorry.
00:08:06
Marley- NUNO
I think the first factor, which is related to James's claim about being better at the end of the game with a five at the back, is because for us, a five back works best as just putting a barrier in front of a goal.
00:08:17
Marley- NUNO
When we're actually trying to push forward and try and get an opening goal, it doesn't work well because everyone's trying to push forward. The wing backs go too far up, leaving the wide centre backs exposed too much, and then the central centre back has two or three plays to cope with. It's just not doable.
00:08:33
Marley- NUNO
Whereas the other issue I think we had, saying it isn't the formation more of the players, is the fact that we were playing Nicolas Dominguez at right wing back.
00:08:44
Marley- NUNO
ah No offence to Dominguez, I rate him highly. But both goals, I do believe Ola Aina prevents from happening. I think the first one, he would have been he would have been able to come further inside and cover Morato.
00:08:57
Marley- NUNO
The second goal, just he wouldn't have been sent like whoever it was got sent. I think it might have been Dominguez again, got absolutely done over with stepovers.
00:09:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
So
00:09:06
Marley- NUNO
know it wouldn't have been done.
00:09:09
James
By Rogers.
00:09:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
we're saying, yeah, retrospectively then it was a mistake. Instead of going for Dominguez and Williams, it should have been Williams and Toffola. but
00:09:18
Marley- NUNO
Yeah, it should have been.
00:09:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Retrospectively now we're saying that should have been the Nino's team against Villa.
00:09:22
Marley- NUNO
Yeah, definitely.
00:09:22
James
Yeah.
00:09:25
James
Yeah.

Jota Silva's Controversial Impact

00:09:26
James
And then what was going on with Jota?
00:09:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
And that
00:09:32
Marley- NUNO
um A lot of things were going on with Jota Silva. and how
00:09:35
James
He came on and for anyone who didn't see the game, think the guy, someone had like told him he'd get a red card bonus or something.
00:09:36
Marley- NUNO
so
00:09:44
James
He was the housery going on from that guy. was just pushing everyone off the ball, you know, getting in the keeper's way, i'll be like shouldering him out of the way when he was trying to come out of his box with the or to clear the ball. with his Oh my gosh, the guy.
00:10:03
James
Exactly.
00:10:04
Marley- NUNO
The issue is I put out on Twitter saying that we need to sub him straight back off. And as I click send, he scores.
00:10:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
He got his a goal, yeah.
00:10:12
James
yeah
00:10:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think if we were to do an analysis of this podcast, the transcripts of our episodes, I would proportionately Jota Silver is our most stuff discussed player. We look at it by by minutes played. mean, of course, we've discussed the big players a lot, but in terms of Jota, in terms of time you actually spent on the pitch, we spent a lot of time talking about him from the start of the season when we were like, put Jota instead of Alanga.
00:10:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then it was, why is Sosa on the bench, not Jota? Why is Jota on the bench, not Sosa? Why is Jota coming on? He can't defend. He's shooting. So it's strange. He's one of those players who's generated a lot of discussion, but based on how little he's played.
00:10:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:10:50
James
It
00:10:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Quick fire question. Will he be at the Forest player next season?
00:10:56
James
depends if we get Champions League on it.
00:10:58
Marley- NUNO
I think he will.
00:11:00
James
Yeah?
00:11:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Even in Champions League, Marley?
00:11:01
Marley- NUNO
I think he's too good of an impact player when he actually gets into his form to not have in your squad.
00:11:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:11:11
Marley- NUNO
I just don't think he can quite do it as a starter at the level we need him to do it at. But as a finisher, as an impact sub, when needed, if he's in form, he will be very good. Because we we need
00:11:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah i mean Maybe he'd be more more settled
00:11:23
Marley- NUNO
like we need a player like him. The amount of times we've been done over by Players who come on the pitch, foul people for fun and dive every time they get the chance is immense. And we've never had anyone like that.
00:11:34
Marley- NUNO
We've got a player like that now in Jota. We can't really afford to lose him because we've needed that

Squad Depth and Future Competitions

00:11:40
Marley- NUNO
for years. I remember back in 2019, Lolly had his shirt pulled off him, but he was too honest to go to ground and win a penalty.
00:11:47
Marley- NUNO
We drew the game.
00:11:47
James
you
00:11:48
Marley- NUNO
We missed out on promotion very narrowly that season, which still hurts me. If we had a player like Jota in that position, he goes down, we get a penalty, we get playoffs that season. We've been crying out for a Jota Silva.
00:11:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interestingly though, I don't regret we didn't go up that year because then have had the COVID season and and the first year back in the Prem would have been the COVID year. So I don't think it's ah too big a loss looking back that we didn't go up that year.
00:12:08
Marley- NUNO
Very true.
00:12:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
But interesting. I think yeah if we go into the Champions League, as we said before, the squad places are tight. we need to We can only have 21 non-homegrown players and I think Jota will be taking up a spot really. I'd rather...
00:12:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
We upgraded him for the Champions League, but Europa League or or Conference League, even if we dropped down 7th or 8th, it would be could be a good option. Okay, so we'll go for the Bionic buy any offer.
00:12:33
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.
00:12:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
If anyone wants some Easter Monday supplements, and then we'll talk a bit more about the Spurs game tonight.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
A new musical background to to our Bionic advert. So link in the show notes, as ah as Ken says.
00:13:26
James
reynold Almost put me to s sleep.
00:13:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
The Spurs? Yeah.
00:13:31
James
so
00:13:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, Spurs tonight then. so we we beat them at home on on Boxing Day. And what was it? As said, took us into that third spot, which we've just lost. Spurs are in Europa League. That's really their focus. They've got nothing to play for at all in the league. Their league season is completely gone. Does that put us in a good position to regain our confidence, regain our form against a Tottenham reserve team pretty much?
00:13:56
James
It better be a Tottenham reserve team, pardon me.
00:14:01
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.

Strategizing Against Spurs

00:14:02
Marley- NUNO
I think the difficulty of this game, the difficulty of this game all depends on Tottenham's injuries.
00:14:03
James
I'm worried.
00:14:07
Marley- NUNO
Who have they got back? Who they have out? I know apparently Madison and Son are out for this game. And I've been hearing I don't think they're going to risk Van de Ven either. So that's three good players who are going to be missing, which is massive for us.
00:14:23
Marley- NUNO
And if they're still playing Jed Spence out of position, Archie Gray out of position, they still only have Richarlison as a striker. I think we could be with a massively good chance.
00:14:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
yes I think Sanson missed their Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday. Madison got got clattered in the move that gave Spurs their penalty. So I think he's out out as well.
00:14:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Not that Madison has been so great this season anyway, but no it's certainly um good good to have him out. So him and Yates can't have their third annual battle of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
00:14:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
and But no, think in in general, it's a... um a good chance. You're right. Spurs, they should rotate. Their rotation options just aren't that impressive anyway. As said, Marley, it's Jez Pence out of position.
00:15:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's actually a 19-year-old out of position. Sorry, just interesting. I just got a notification on my phone from the Athletic a headline. Jota Silva is exactly the sort of versatile performer Nottingham Forest's squad needs.
00:15:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, Marley, you've got a new job at the Athletic.
00:15:26
James
no Wow, that's that's hilarious.
00:15:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
They just published your first piece. It says...
00:15:30
Marley- NUNO
Thank you.
00:15:34
James
ah i thought I thought Yates was that guy, but maybe he's, he's you know, he reminds me of a Jack Russell. Jack Russell nipping at your ankles constantly and like, you know, when the rats come out, he's just on it.
00:15:47
James
Sorry, it's bit much.

Forest's Season Analogy and Bounce Back

00:15:50
James
um you know what right this this you know i love an analogy and like a bit of kismet or a bit of like seer right so i'm fat and old so i bought an e-bike okay i'm a i'm a downhill bike i've broken lots of bones i bought an e-bike um because my lad's growing up giving him my bike and the the other day we went out 26 mile ride okay and um i I live in Yorkshire where it's like this, you know, constantly up and down.
00:16:23
James
So it was using a lot of battery. And mile 21, I'm pedalling along. Everything's absolutely great. Checked my battery. I've got 20k left in it before the last hill.
00:16:35
James
Then all of a sudden, you know, everything gets heavy and the bikes run out of battery. Feels a bit like Forest, right? And that last five miles, had to absolutely slog home and it destroyed me. And that's the last two games.
00:16:51
James
I've got home, i put it back on charge. It's ready to go again. That's Tottenham. We're doing it. The bike's ready to go. the team's ready to go. We're going to smash it.
00:17:02
Marley- NUNO
I really like that analogy, to be fair.
00:17:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I hope Zencastr clips it up for for the socials. but I think it's a good idea. We've been cruising in our e-bike throughout the season, swatting aside Man United, Man City, and then just run out of that that power for Everton and Villa.
00:17:04
James
Yeah, yeah.
00:17:15
James
yeah Yeah, absolutely.
00:17:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you're right, we've we've we've hopefully refreshed and recharged, and Spurs with the first opponent for James' new, improved, fully charged e-bike. So which players are in our battery pack then? What's your team, Marley?
00:17:33
Marley- NUNO
So, and base this is based off what I'm hearing on Twitter from a reliable source, as has been proved recently. Matt's cells will start in goal.
00:17:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
but Very reliable source there.
00:17:44
Marley- NUNO
I think that's dead set.
00:17:48
Marley- NUNO
Well, yeah, that one...
00:17:48
James
Oh, really in the know.
00:17:51
Marley- NUNO
That one is very dead set because... ah do think it was an injury, by the way, for Carlos Miguel because he's been back on the bench recently. since like
00:18:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, thank you.
00:18:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was Exeter, wasn't it? I mean, people yeah said he was just didn't fancy it, but you're right, he did miss four or five games after Exeter, not on the bench. Yeah, I think he was genuinely injured in that Exeter game, but he's back to being on the bench and you're he's going to play.
00:18:00
Marley- NUNO
But...
00:18:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
play this season unless we are somehow already third on the last day of the season is and it decides to give them a go.
00:18:14
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.
00:18:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you're right, it will be sales for the rest of the season.
00:18:22
Marley- NUNO
yeah um I'm feeling like it's going to be back to a back four of Murillo.
00:18:25
James
Thank
00:18:28
Marley- NUNO
I feel like it'll be Milenkovic, Williams and Moreno again. Because I don't think I'm back yet. Midfield is where it gets interesting.
00:18:42
Marley- NUNO
I'm hearing the midfield three will be Ryan Yates, Danilo and Ibrahima Sangare, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson being rested for the ah FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
00:18:54
Marley- NUNO
And I'm hearing that Wood, Ilanga and Callum Horton Odoi will be the front three.
00:19:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's very strange. As we've just said in great detail, we've had nine days of of recharging. um We don't have the luxury. i wouldn't have thought to be to

Team Lineup and Rest Strategy

00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
be resting players.
00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is crunch time of the season, big games all the time. And yeah, I think if you did want to rest Gidstwaite Anderson, it would be yeah on Thursday ah against Brentford or the following Monday against Palace.
00:19:18
James
you
00:19:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So mean it really really would be... and Interesting to see, would you agree with your source, Marley, or are you as as confused as meet me and James buying by what you've what you've heard from from the source?
00:19:36
Marley- NUNO
do I agree with the source? No. Do I trust it? Yes. I trust him because this is the same source that told me Tywo Arwani was injured when everyone was doubting it and turned out he was indeed injured.
00:19:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and that was a big reveal yeah at last time.
00:19:50
Marley- NUNO
He revealed that Wood would be back and he was back. So I trust that this is accurate. Do I agree with it? No. It's I can see why he'd rest them. Massive FA Cup semi-final, very difficult fixture, wants them fit, wants them fresh, but at the same time, City play tomorrow.
00:20:09
Marley- NUNO
So, unless they also rest their key players, if they also rest their key players, we don't really get much of an advantage out of that.
00:20:10
James
Thank
00:20:17
Marley- NUNO
Plus, they will be less fresh than Gibbs-White and Anderson would be anyway, unless those two get an injury. So, unless they were already carrying light knocks, or they just weren't able to recover in a nine day period.
00:20:29
Marley- NUNO
I don't see why resting them would actually be necessary.
00:20:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, yeah, the only thing I can see about it is, yeah, Di Nuno and Sangari haven't started it in in a while. So, yeah, I guess they are key players or po potentially key players.
00:20:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
You want to at least keep them fit. I mean, yeah, they did when they were our starting midfield too, Sangari and Di Nuno. So, yeah, they are they are bad players. and I'm just surprised of this is the one they're chosen to be rested for.
00:20:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And would you say Dominguez is also rested? Is that why Yates is the third man of that three? Yeah. So Dorian would be expected to see Dominguez gives White-Anderson as the starting midfield three at Wembley based on that apparent starting lineup tonight.
00:21:08
Marley- NUNO
it It sounds like it, although he doesn't mention anything about the defence, so there's always a chance that Dominguez is playing on wing-back again. I personally wouldn't expect it, but we we just don't know.
00:21:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:21:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interesting.
00:21:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's go for the second... second advert to give James further further time to to digest that news and you can give us your your team James and we can see give a score prediction as well
00:21:25
James
Thumbs up, down, and down.
00:22:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
There we go. So James, your your team for tonight.
00:22:12
James
Everything but the midfield. So the same. But I think there's too little trust in that. I think, yes, we can trust Yates to you know marshal them.
00:22:26
James
But I don't think Danilo... I'm not saying it's not going to be that, Marley. I'm not saying source is wrong at all. and But for me, ah don't trust both of them to be on the pitch at the same time right now.
00:22:40
James
I think they're both, I don't think either of them are a match fit up to match sharpness like you need to be at this point.
00:22:40
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.
00:22:48
James
You know, it's the thin end of the

Prioritizing Competitions and Transfers

00:22:50
James
wedge. I get resting players for the semi-final because that's big. But as well, for me, the bigger thing is Champions League qualification than the semi-final. Because even if we get through the semi-final and win the final, yes, it's a cup and it would be absolutely amazing.
00:23:09
James
but it doesn't give us a Champions League spot. and So, you know, and it's not like we can upgrade two Europa League spots to a Champions League spot because we got one with the FA Cup.
00:23:22
James
and So, I just think it would...
00:23:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Double Europa qualification.
00:23:26
James
Sorry?
00:23:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, you're right. It is one option that we qualify for the Europa League twice. ah So we went all these years for European qualification and we do so twice by winning a cup and finishing sixth.
00:23:34
James
I...
00:23:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you're right, the Champions League does outweigh the cup victory.
00:23:39
James
Thank you.
00:23:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll come to to Wembley shortly. um Just on that predicted team, are we thinking what, Yates is the sixth, Sangare the eighth, Dinero the tenth? Or wait how does that three even start together? Who who is in which which position?
00:23:54
Marley- NUNO
I've got an interesting call here.
00:23:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Or is it
00:23:59
Marley- NUNO
I think playing deep, Sangari did really well creatively against Exeter.
00:23:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Perfect. right
00:24:04
Marley- NUNO
He did well creatively a again against Newcastle. I'd put Danilo back holding. Yates is the engine room in the middle and he can drive forward when needed.
00:24:16
Marley- NUNO
And I think if any of those three can play creatively as a 10, Sangare. Because we've seen it from him already this season, away at Newcastle. I'm not counting away Exeter. But away at Newcastle, he created chances. He looked good.
00:24:29
Marley- NUNO
I would trust him, and I think he would actually do really well tonight.
00:24:32
James
create a goal of Exeter yeah I thought he bawled him behind the Exeter I thought
00:24:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's It's passing. It's when he gets time, yeah.
00:24:39
James
But I just think, guys, I think we've seen it, especially in the FA Cup. Nuno does this. I love Nuno. I'm not slagging Nuno, right? But he does this where we start with the weakened team and then we we have to bring on Anderson, Gibbs, White, Ilanga and people like that towards the end of the game.
00:25:00
James
And we end up playing all the extra time and going to penalties. Whereas if we'd have started the game with the strong team, then we maybe could have rested those players at 60, 70 minutes and we wouldn't have had the time in the legs of people like Ina, who's now injured, obviously.
00:25:17
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.
00:25:19
James
And and I think that's been... Maybe a tactical error over the season. I mean, what do I know? and But ah just we need one of them because you've seen the way that the level goes up when Anderson and Gibbs White come on because they run at the defence and they scare them.
00:25:37
Marley- NUNO
Yeah.
00:25:39
James
don't see Danilo or Sangare doing that today.
00:25:42
Marley- NUNO
You see, that brings me on to another point when you're finished.
00:25:43
James
and
00:25:46
James
No, it's go for I just think we need either Anderson or Gibbs White to start.
00:25:48
Marley- NUNO
yeah
00:25:51
James
Rest one of them, but start one of them.
00:25:54
Marley- NUNO
For me, the big point here is that team-wise, our team is good enough so umum to finish in the Champions League places. Squad-wise, we're not good enough yet.
00:26:06
Marley- NUNO
We need a a better, deepened squad. And two players that I think we've had eyes on, at least the fans had eyes on, are three agents in the summer. And the I was thinking, oh, if we sell Gibbs White and eve one of Anderson, Danilo or Ina, we might, or Murillo, we might end up with over £110m to £200m to spend on players.
00:26:06
James
no
00:26:30
Marley- NUNO
When, even if we don't sell those players... If we bring in Jonathan David, he's free this summer. And if Gibbs White can pull some strings, his best mate is Angel Gomez, who is also on a free this summer.
00:26:43
Marley- NUNO
That's our weakness behind Chris Wood, solved. That's our weakness of Danilo not being fit, Sangare underperforming slightly, solved. All we need to do then is focus on maybe a winger and strengthening the defence, and we will have as much money as we want to do that.
00:27:03
Marley- NUNO
we've still got all our prize money from the RFA Cup run and from qualifying for Champions League and any sales when our two statement signings were both on the free.
00:27:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think um they would be. I mean, they they would still be signing on fees. They wouldn't be completely free. They would demand signing on fees that we would ah otherwise pay in transfer fees, but they would be significantly reduced, you're right.
00:27:22
James
Thank you.
00:27:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I would be yeah delighted with with both both of those players. Angel Gomez, we saw in the Lee Carsley England era, is is would offer us something different in our midfield.
00:27:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's hungry, wanting to improve himself in the Premier League again after not really getting much of an opportunity as a youngster at Man United. Yeah, Jonathan David, he wouldn't be a backup to Chris Wood. He would be um of the leading number nines in the Premier League.
00:27:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So, which again is what we need if we're, again, we've spoken a lot about Jota this season, spoken a lot about Tyro this season, how often he's unfortunately looked.
00:27:56
James
Yeah.
00:27:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, we do need to upgrade. striker department and ideally it's with someone who would really challenge and compete but for Chris Wood rather than challenge and compete for Tyrone only his last five minutes of of the match so yeah I think those two I'm sure we'll do plenty of Chancellor episodes and then in the in the coming coming month those two would be would be ideal quickly then just a bit
00:28:20
James
yeah
00:28:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
But before we go, score predictions. Are we all, even with this alleged team, are we still comfortable with a, I'm going to say, 2-0 Forest win? James, what's your thoughts on a score prediction for this evening?
00:28:36
James
I think if that's the team, we could end up with a 1-1. I don't want it. I don't want it. But I feel like a horny draw is what we're going to get with that team.
00:28:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Marley, thoughts?
00:28:49
Marley- NUNO
i'm thinking I'm thinking a win, but a narrow one because our form lately doesn't warrant a thrashing. I think Tottenham won't quite be the beast that we're fearing they might come out to be.
00:29:02
Marley- NUNO
I think we'll have a massive response from how poor we were against Everton. Nuno will have been down them about that. So I think I'll go with 2-1.
00:29:09
James
The pigeon.
00:29:11
Marley- NUNO
two one I think we'll concede to Richarlison because it's just our luck with how much I hate that man.
00:29:19
James
but pitching
00:29:20
Marley- NUNO
I think we will score through Chris Wood getting a goal on the on the mark again. And I think we'll score from a headed goal from Nikola Milenkovic.
00:29:33
Marley- NUNO
And I believe the corner that Milenkovic's headed goal comes from and Chris Wood's goal will both be created from genius pieces of play from Ibrahim Sangare.
00:29:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we're backing him. Singare to start and get two assists and finally prove his worth to Forrest to get our Champions League push back on track. Let's hope let's hope that's the what happens tonight.
00:29:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Any final thoughts? Or if not, we'll be back on for another episode ah later in the week to preview the two of yours trips to Wembley.
00:30:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thanks for listening. And let's hope for a fantastic evening tonight. You reds.
00:30:10
Marley- NUNO
You at
00:30:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:30:17
James
i Guys, guys, guys, guys.
