Introduction and Episode Overview

Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to Daily Forest here at the Global Sports Podcast Network here to talk about Nottingham Forest's game against Brighton on Saturday and any transfer news we have. I'm Stuart. Joining me today is Marley. Now Marley, you didn't appear on our Bournemouth review. You are so devastated. How are you feeling? Just about okay to talk about it or is it something we should never never mention again?
00:00:34
Marley (you reds)
um If my walls weren't brick, they wouldn't be standing.

Nottingham Forest's Recent Game Analysis

00:00:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
and i Fair enough. so We don't dwell too much on on the game. Was it something that disappointed you in particular? Was it the selection from Nuno? Was it certain areas by the team or was it just an off day all around?
00:00:51
Marley (you reds)
I don't think the selection was all the best. I think it was a Dominguez game rather than a Yates game. And I think Sosa should have started over Jota.
00:01:03
Marley (you reds)
And I was very annoyed with certain players at certain times. For example, Ola Aina should definitely not have let Justin Clyver run the entire length of the pitch to score the first goal. It was his man to close down and he thought we could see the goal.

Team Recovery and Lineup Changes

00:01:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
if Fair enough. So let's start then with what you think the mood would have been like in in training during the week. Do you think Nuno should have um really given his players um the all all the or all the criticism or do you think he should have gone for the softly approach and said look we're still third in the league ah keep your confidence up it was should just enough there you think it's a but bit of a balance between you're making sure that there is mistakes from Aina or from Jotter and Yates are are at least mentioned and learned from.
00:01:50
Marley (you reds)
they will get a very loud, very monumental to telling off in the changing room after the game and on the book coach on the way back. But it seems like players have been let go away for a few days to recover and kind of, you know, clear their heads after it, which I think was needed because I do think there was still a bit of tiredness from the Liverpool game.
00:02:10
Marley (you reds)
Um, and I don't think going into training after a final loss immediately is the best thing to do. I do think getting away for a few days is the right response.
00:02:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah so
00:02:18
Marley (you reds)
Um, but now They all seem to have come back, started training again, and I think it'll be extra intense training trying to properly you know fix up on the cracks that we've let develop.
00:02:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, we saw on Marillo in Paris, certainly in the case of

Transfer News and Player Evaluations

00:02:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
the other players. took a couple of days off as well which as you said is probably probably the right thing to do, no point um letting the bad mood or a bad mist develop over over the training ground but to go and get your head cleared for a couple of days and come back and as you say for that intense a bit of training. um So you mentioned the mistakes made by Nuno in his starting lineup for Bournemouth. We've heard today that Callum Hurston-Adore is still out. So your team for for Saturday, is it as simple as Sosa in for Jota, which would move Alanga back onto the right, and then Dominguez in for Yates, or would you go something a bit more drastic? Would you even put in Moreno back in at left-back and
00:03:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
either put Williams at right back or drop Williams, what's your thoughts? Or even the back three, we at least have some options, not many attacking options, but at least some different things we can do if needed.
00:03:26
Marley (you reds)
I wouldn't drop Aina unless he has another honking game. I would do Sosa in for Jota. I would bring in yeah er Dominguez for Yates. The only other change I would consider making is putting Sangari on the bench. I wouldn't start him but I would think he's back in training, want him on the bench soon because I think he can bring a lot to the team that we're missing at the minute. Danilo I'd love to see on the bench as well.
00:03:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think so. And if you look at the the bench from last weekend, um probably you'd take out War Prowse and Toffolo for Dinar and Sangari, would you say?
00:04:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because again, James War Prowse, although he is staying, it's been confirmed.
00:04:04
Marley (you reds)
Yeah.
00:04:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's only two or three days left of the window now, and his off-the-field influence seems to be a positive one. But still, would you rather um yeah have Dinar and Sangari as those options, or would you still think it was a bit of a place for War Prowse at the moment?
00:04:23
Marley (you reds)
I'd rather put Danilo and Sangari in a war process if I'm completely honest. He doesn't seem to offer as much as we had hoped. His free kicks aren't needed because Alanga's doing quite well with his. I just think it's a loan spell gone wrong if I'm completely honest. I don't think he's ever really recovering opinions after single-handedly losing a free nil to Arsenal.

European Competition Strategies

00:04:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's is his last start would have been the Arsenal game I think, and since then, apart from the FA Cup game, he's not played more than 10 minutes in any of his league substitute appearances. So yeah, it's it's a shame for him. We're ah we're all excited when he when he came in, a relatively recent England international, someone who'd been a regular starter in the Premier League for over 10 years with Southampton.
00:05:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
and then West Ham say it just for whatever reason hasn't worked out for him at Forest and yet now with Danilo and Sangare back in the squad, back to fitness, it's important we get Danilo and Sangare fit whether to contribute to our team or to increase their transfer of value if we were to sell them in the summer of course we can't sell Ward Prowse so we don't need to play him to get his transfer value up so yeah unfortunately it's been ah a bit of a waste of the season for James Ward Prowse as a player
00:05:36
Marley (you reds)
Yeah, and um I'm just hoping that in the future we learn from that. We don't just bring people in for the experience when they're going to be a wasted squad slot, a wasted loan slot. We bring someone in with experience who can actually also help us out or know they're not going to be playing, know that it might not like give anything to the team apart from the experience, but the experience is greater than what Wardpow has got. I don't think he's got as much experience as we would need for a player who's just there for experience, and I don't think he adds enough impact.
00:06:05
Marley (you reds)
so I genuinely do think it was a core signing looking back and possibly one to forget and move on from.
00:06:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think so. I mean, either at least he hasn't been, whether he's this year's Origi or Lingard, a high earning big name. I mean, luckily the rest of the team has been performing, but you're right, if Boris had had a bad season with Warcraft playing a lot, he would go into his category of an overpaid, expensive, big name. He hasn't worked out. so but We'll come to transfers in a bit, but hopefully we've learnt lessons and war powers will be the last um big name flop sign that we sign in our Premier League era.
00:06:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
But back to Brighton then, briefly touched on our team. What about Brighton's team? who Who do you see as a threat for them? So I know when we did this in the reverse fixture, one of our early episodes, we were happy to get that two-all draw. But since then, we have been on the up and Brighton slightly less so. Do you think you'll be a comfortable win or is it still Brighton players who who concern you?
00:07:12
Marley (you reds)
There's always going to be Brighton players who concern me. Always going to be Brighton players who concern me because Brighton are a good team. um Obviously I would be happy with another 2-2 to be completely honest. I don't expect much from the game after a 5-0 trouncing away at Bournemouth, but I don't know. I've got high hopes and low expectations if I'm completely honest, but I've been the whole season so far from me and just me with Forest in general. Obviously Van Hecke worries me. Metoma will always be a worry.
00:07:41
Marley (you reds)
The other one that mainly worries me is Danny Welbeck. Those three players are the ones to watch. You've got a strong, solid, tall defender. You've got a very good striker who's been prolific this season. You've got a winger who will cause problems to anyone.
00:07:54
Marley (you reds)
He's probably the main player that's caused ain't any problems

Transfer Market Approaches

00:07:57
Marley (you reds)
this season. them So it's definitely the three players to watch out for and the three players I'm mainly concerned about this this weekend.
00:08:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, some some good news about Mitoama. Apparently just today, um he's been subject to a £90 million pound bid from the Saudi Pro League. So it could well be that Metoma maybe has his head head turned. It could be that he's not available for selection by by Brighton. seems Seems strange than Saudi Pro League after in the summer, they were quite quiet. and The big name transverse, but now they've all of a sudden gone big for John Duran, trying to sign Metoma. So I started a younger age profile from the first wave of expensive foreign stars at the Saudi Pro League signed a year and a half or so ago. So so maybe Metoma won't be there, but you're right, Van Hecke.
00:08:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
will certainly give Wood a good game and Danny Welbeck is, like Chris Wood himself, he's in in the form of his career, Danny Welbeck.
00:08:43
Marley (you reds)
Wow.
00:08:50
Marley (you reds)
90 million pounds. They can nearly, nearly afford Marato's left foot.
00:08:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, that is interesting. I don't know said the Saudi pro league's transfer policy, but maybe someone like Maratha do have their their eyes on someone who is young with potential, who isn't yet a regular starter. But it's an interesting that Metoma, not the sort of person you'd expect to have a Saudi pro leaguegue saudi pro league move. Anyway, let's see how that develops in terms of Brighton and their match this weekend.
00:09:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
um but Brighton, so they've of course two years ago went to deserby they qualified for Europe and then last year they were in Europe but didn't qualify again but at least they had their memories of that season in Europe is that way you perhaps see forest going and if we do qualify for Europe this season next season we'll see our league league league form suffer or do you think we've kind of look and learn from teams like Brighton and we will be able to compete on two fronts next season
00:09:53
Marley (you reds)
um Brighton kind of feel like a bit more run for a business than a football club. The owners seem ah only ambitious in a way if they want to bring up players and sell them on for profit. Whereas Maranaki seem like an owner who doesn't really care about the business side as much, he just wants to make for a successful. So I think if we do make Europe, there's more chance of us pushing and striving to stay in Europe rather than carried on on the business venture Brighton were on. So I do think if we make Europe, we'll be more successful in it than Brighton were personally.
00:10:22
Marley (you reds)
like because I just think we've got that ambition and from our own that they don't have.
00:10:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah thinkness Yes, got a good point. right The Brighton owners, Tony Bloom, as soon as they qualified for Europe, this old Casado and McAllister, you certainly cannot see Maranaki selling Murillo in Gibbs White. Should we qualify for Europe? that it is an interesting point now Maranakis, he is a football man, owned an NPR cost for many years, bought Rio Ave and possibly must go to Gama soon as well. So yes, this is a very good point to make the other bloom. He just seemed quite cold hearted and analytics driven that he would rather sell Quesado than have Quesado for one year in Europe. That is definitely a good point you raise.
00:11:02
Marley (you reds)
Yeah, and um the other thing about Brighton is they, I don't want Brighton fans to lynch me for this, but their fans aren't actually that good. Whereas the atmosphere we can create, the colder and annoyed in Europe, that would be better than what Brighton could create. We could be more hostile, welcoming away teams and away fans. And so I think that will have an impact as well.
00:11:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, this is a good, a good point, Brian. Certainly a, I feel like a, a new club is in historically, they were second and third division and all fashion, small ground, but they're in this new recent middle-class almost of Premier League teams, along with Brentford and Bournemouth teams who I remember yeah playing against not counting in league two for most of the time when I was growing up and then suddenly they become established Premier League clubs. that You write through coldhearted business rather than perhaps pure, pure football passion.
00:11:55
Marley (you reds)
Yeah and one thing I do want to know your thoughts on are the move of John Duran to Saudi Arabia, could that open Aston Villa up to looking for a striker or could it open up windows in Saudi Arabia for us to start looking at is there a striker in Saudi Arabia that we could put our eyes on if they're looking at younger players now is there a striker a bit middle of their career that we could look at in Saudi and think we could get them for a cheaper-ish price because they want to move on from into a younger player like John Duran.
00:12:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
okay
00:12:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
So you're thinking someone like Sadia Mani, someone like that you're thinking. So if they've gone for du Duran now, in which case. for that first wave of Saudi signings to become available. I mean it is possible. um I mean we're talking about the Saudi pro league and that just proves that no one really pays their attention. We can't even remember the name of of the team you're going to be joining. um and So we'll need to get Al Nassau. So it is Ronaldo's team. So I don't think Ronaldo would necessarily come to Forest but it is also Sadiamade's team as well. So perhaps
00:13:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Yeah, I think, and um in fact, I know that there are limits on foreign players each Saudi pro team can have. um So by definition, signing John Duran, they will have to get rid of one of their other other foreign players.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
But no, it's Al Hilal Mitrovich plays for someone like Alexander Mitrovich would be an ideal signing. Someone who was still youngish went to Saudi Pro League, chased the money for a couple of years and maybe he wants a competitive return to the Premier League.
00:13:28
Marley (you reds)
Yeah.
00:13:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Something like Alexander Mitrovich, I would be all in on. But I think there's one more likely outcome of Villa selling Durante to Saudi Pro League and we'll come to that in two seconds.
00:14:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think it's what I have heard of Villa suddenly have 70 million in their pockets for selling John Duran. They're going to spend 50 on it on Mateus Cunha straight away. So from what I've what i've heard of Villa then go ahead of us in the race of Cunha that leaves us with from our known targets or from the targets we've heard of just with, I think we did say last week that you'd rather fissure than Konya, do you still, are you still feeling that or does it feel like we've missed out on Konya now if he does indeed go to Villa and not Forest?
00:14:44
Marley (you reds)
ah Personally, I'm not sure. i heard I've seen things that none of them are actual targets. We won't end up with any of them and I wouldn't really mind that. Honestly though, I've looked through Saudi League and there are two possible signs from the Saudi League that if those teams want to move to younger players rather than the 25-30 age bracket, I would definitely not mind Forest making a move for them as long as they don't want the higher wages to definitely. There's a 28-year-old Muslim Dembele, striker and winger, 27-year-old Fashon Sakala.
00:15:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, so that's the most of them ballet formerly of of Celtic and Fulham, so I think Yeggy again is The wage demands are are okay. If they don't break our structure, I'd be happy with someone like that. Again, we can't tell with the Saudi pro league how big the salaries are. They're as big as they've reported. So I wouldn't make Mr Dembele our top earner immediately, but he was willing to accept to be a paid our second or third women are top five.
00:15:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
um players but not necessarily to talk straight away. Maybe we'll be happy. And the second one, I don't even know who that is. So you need to educate me on um know who that is.
00:15:59
Marley (you reds)
a
00:16:02
Marley (you reds)
ah The winger played quite a few years in Scotland for Rangers.
00:16:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
OK, OK, from Rangers. Interesting. So maybe he's played for Rangers and at least he knows the British, British culture slightly. So that could could be could be interesting.
00:16:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, again, would he would be competing with Joshua and Sosa to be a bench option or do you think he'd compete with the Langer and Hudson and Doy to be a starting option?
00:16:25
Marley (you reds)
Yeah. I think he just, I think Jotter and Sosa both know that there are weirded backup options. It's fine. We'll stick to that. I think they do need and a third winger to push them for the backup option. And I think Fashions Okala will do that quite well, just so they know that their their spot as backup isn't secure, as secure as they think it is. Because obviously when someone thinks that their role in the team is secure, it can be damaging to their performances.
00:16:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, perhaps we saw that from Jota last weekend. We're going to but let's be staying on the theme of transfers, so it's 30th of January as as we're speaking. The window closes 3rd of February, Monday, and with the game Saturday, you'd think Friday and Saturday wouldn't be focused on transfer, so it leaves us with just Sunday and Monday.
00:17:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
In our 25-man squad, we have just one space. So January so far, Oma Bamedeli has gone, but Wayne Hennessy has come in. So unless he's going to suddenly register Emmanuel Dennis this time, it leaves one spot. um Or would you even want to sign two new players and then de-register Harry Toffalo or Willy Bali? What's your hopes for the rest of the window? Just one new player or or two and lose one more.
00:17:38
Marley (you reds)
I'd be happy with no more. One more, yeah, I'd be okay with. Two more I think is pushing it.

FA Cup Game Strategy

00:17:44
Marley (you reds)
But I don't think we have to worry about two more because we've opened up an extra squad slot. We have two currently available.
00:17:50
Marley (you reds)
I'm not sure if we're actually.
00:17:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, it's just just the one.
00:17:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Daddy's out of the way in this season.
00:17:56
Marley (you reds)
I don't know if we're actually registered Hennessy though.
00:17:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So you have to assume.
00:18:00
Marley (you reds)
I think he's only been brought in because our academy keeper picked up an injury. I don't know if he'll actually be registered though because he's only really been brought in as that extra option just in case the worst comes to the worst.
00:18:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, then he has to be registered then, doesn't he? Because the sales gets injured the day after registration some deadline and Hennessy's not registered then, well why have we signed him? So we have to assume, it was announced on the website, he's been signed, have to assume Hennessy's been, but the rate will be registered.
00:18:25
Marley (you reds)
In that case, one position. I do think there'll be another out, which will be two places available. I think we'll bring in a winger stroke striker and I think we'll bring in an extra defender for some odd reason.
00:18:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then the who, yeah.
00:18:37
Marley (you reds)
and But we all know what growth is like on deadline days. It could be chaotic, who knows.
00:18:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I mean, we've had a good, slightly calmer this year than in previous years. So if someone, if an extra defender comes in, so who of Harry Toffolo or Willie Bali would get the cut for you to make note makete that space.
00:18:58
Marley (you reds)
And it's difficult, but I think one of one or both for the, I think toffolo personally, because Bolly to me is better still. Um, although I do think they're both still useful behind the scenes as well, especially I think toffolo is the funny guy. Doesn't really mind too much not playing regularly. He just, he likes being in and around the squad, being part of it is, does the squad likes him? He's good for chemistry.
00:19:25
Marley (you reds)
So I do you think even if we take him out the registration of the squad, still having him, like we had with Taylor and Caffoo in that first season back, I think that would be fine with it.
00:19:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's just around the camp. Yeah, I think that's probably likely, especially if the new, any potential new signing could play a left back, then yeah, it certainly making makes it possible. That's off-low would be, I'd imagine, but kept it kept a lot around the squad for his,
00:19:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Professionalism and training and trading and is um also his community work as well does a lot of good work in in the community. um Have you heard any names of any offenders or are you just assuming because this is what a forest is like and there will be someone completely random coming in 10 minutes before midnight on Monday. We haven't even heard the link with the club yet.
00:20:07
Marley (you reds)
Exactly the second year.
00:20:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's I think was War Prowse, he was deadline day in August, wasn't he? I think so. Again, we've spoken about him earlier this episode that shows the, and Marato's, yes, a 50% hit rate of them, Marato and War Prowse.
00:20:16
Marley (you reds)
it was ra
00:20:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Marato has been in limited game time, very good. War Prowse in limited game time has yet to really convince of his value. And as we said, he's not even going to be sure of his spot on the bench going forward.
00:20:37
Marley (you reds)
ah I think Maratha will always be sure for his bot on the bench. Always.
00:20:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Then we're after the entire event. War proud wouldn't be sure if that's part of the 20.
00:20:44
Marley (you reds)
well I don't think he should be because, on my original thought was he should be sent back because he's not awful. like ah i don't think I think Arsenal are just one poor game. I don't think he's been all awful but I don't think he's been good enough to justify a lone player taking up a space a squad space rather than someone permanently taking up that space on the bench, squad space, so be part of our future and part of our plan.
00:21:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah so there you go just bad negotiation all around then it was seems clear that we didn't have a send him back clause in the loan so whoever negotiated that at the club um perhaps didn't have the oversight to include that safety net so after we come back from the second advert we'll discuss about anything else we'd like to see from Forest over the next next few weeks
00:22:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
So our game after Brighton, um quite unusually it's not the weekend after but it's the Tuesday after against Exeter in the f FA Cup. what How are you feeling? I know we haven't seen had this Brighton game yet but how are you? What are your thoughts about Exeter? Should we pick a stronger team than Luton because it's one round closer to Wembley? Or would you do exactly the same as what happened in Luton, make the 11 changes and i take it from there?
00:22:35
Marley (you reds)
I'd make 11 changes, weaker than Luton, I'd bring some academy players into the first team because I don't want to treat Exeter like they're not a decent team. I don't want to underestimate them as such, sound like I'm disrespecting them, but players like Zach Abbott, Joseph Gardner, who are playing really well in the under 21s deserve time to try and play senior appearances. And I think the FA Cup against a league one, league two side is the opportunity for them to do that.
00:23:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, i think I think it can either to go two ways. so if you do like use so If you're going to make 11 changes, then bring the Academy

Squad Rotation and Player Fitness

00:23:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
players to go on the bench because there's no point point bringing gigs wide and words all the way to Exeter and back, sit on the bench. So if you take the big, big name players with you need to Exeter, then you have to start them and play a strong team. Or if you want to make 11 changes, then fill the bench with the academy players for whom a trip all the way to extra and back will be an experience even if it only results in a few minutes off the bench. So yeah, I mean in the camp where we either start the full strength team maybe with just one or two changes or maybe 11 changes and also crucially make changes on on the bench as well.
00:23:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
then hopefully we'll see possibly Danilo and Tangari get starts there as well, would you say, against Exeter? So they're going to stick around, they're going to need to play like football, regular football pretty soon for them to be fit enough to make any sort of impact on the second half of the season.
00:23:58
Marley (you reds)
Potentially, potentially. um Yeah, obviously, we we saw Dunneville for bench against Luton. So from that, we do know that we have him in mind and the cup games, we're trying to ease him back in, especially if we haven't seen him since.
00:24:18
Marley (you reds)
What would do with him against Exeter? I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a start and Sangare be the one that comes off a bench because it gives him about 90 minutes of football. If he doesn't start, at least give him a bit more time. I think easing him in against Exeter a bit more time and then a bit of time in a league game and ah eventually a league start is what he needs. Same with Sangare, but one step behind, then a low at all times.
00:24:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, we're in a bit of a strange strange place really that and we don't really don't have many many games left. um So we are in the league, in the Premier League, sorry, we are have fifteen just 15 games left, which really, really isn't many. I mean, hopefully there'll be There weren't going to be 16 games left in the season, hopefully we won't lose to Exeter, so there will be at least one or two more in the FA Cup. The 15 matches really really isn't that much, um so it will be hard for Eden, Danilo or Tengari to get a run in the team, because we're we're assuming the art game style gets brighter, then there's only 14 matches left of the season. so i

Unfortunately would be again if Jase Dominguez gives away an Anderson are all staying fit. I think to let them sangare between them might start maximum one or two games each between now and the end of the season because they got injured at that unfortunate time, lengthy injuries in that time.
00:25:36
Marley (you reds)
Yeah.

Um, maybe we've seen Anderson go from strength to strength. Remember Anderson started the season and this gives Weiss his backup as the 10. He paid on the wing in the preseason friendlies. He's really made the central midfield spot his own.

um People haven't been talking at all in weeks about Ken Anderson or Gibbs White play together. Of course he can. So that's just taking up more spots for Danilo and Sangare to the extent that even I consider loaning one of them, one or two of them out on deadline day, just to still not let again have played 10 games rather than three or four at Forest.
00:26:01
Marley (you reds)
Yeah.
00:26:14
Marley (you reds)
Yeah, and another academy player that I'd love to see get a bit of game time at the Cup, I just had to remember his name, is Danny Anisco. He's about 18, 19 years old.

Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:26:23
Marley (you reds)
I think he's got a bright future out of him. I'd love to see him get a few minutes to Forest in the Exeter game.

Yeah, I mean, there's been no... Yes, this year, yes. So Joe Gardner has been the only debutant. um Nuno has given their first his first ever appearance to. So yeah, it certainly would be nice to see that number go to go to two or three um in the next game because he had the round after Exeter. Even if we get lucky and get another EFL team in the fifth round, that's where I think you start playing and the big guns because if you get that far in, you want to take it seriously and go for a shot at ah shot it silverware or a shot at a day after Wembley.

Game Predictions and Conclusion

00:27:06
Marley (you reds)
Yeah. And, um, genuine, generally speaking, you don't want to have your players sit out of the cup too much because it can kind of, if you only bring them in when you play the big teams in the cup, there won't be up to scratch, up to scratch with it as such. They won't be used to that. It'll be more games. So it'll be like, Oh, suddenly I'll have to play this game and I haven't played any other rounds. So it's a bit like caught me off guard.
00:27:30
Marley (you reds)
Whereas if you play them in the earlier rounds, you get them into the cup quickly, it's like, right, I'm in the cup now, I'm playing in the cup, I know what the cup's like. It becomes a reason.
00:27:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely. That's why I said Drexter. I think it's post possible that he might play some of the big guns just you right to get them in the habit and and the rhythm of playing ah two games a week and instead of one. so Before we go then, um Brighton was that 2-2 he said at the start? Is that they a square prediction or are you going to go for your classic nail-nail prediction?
00:28:02
Marley (you reds)
um I don't think we'll draw now because we've both got the attacking threat to score goals. I think there'll be goals. There's always goals at the city ground between Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Old Albion. I think a 3-1 and a 3-2 have been the last two scores at the city ground between us. So I'm predicting goals galore. I'm predicting a goal often off Aston Villa away. I'm going to go Nottingham Forest 5.
00:28:33
Marley (you reds)
writing out of Albion 4.

I'll work out what you meant there, of course, that famous 5-5 in our championship days with Villa. So you go for 5-4 on Saturday. So I'm going to go for also a forest win by one goal, but 2-1 and not 5-4. Also, similar to Aston Villa, I think we'll go 1-0 down and come from behind to get a 2-1 victory, as we did against Villa a couple of months ago.

Good. So, Marley, you'll be there at the city ground, of course, on Saturday. No chicken yet?
00:29:07
Marley (you reds)
No, ah my dad's not let me have a day off work for this one. Very angry.

Well, for the people of East Bridgeford Garden Centre, you mentioned previously you were dancing in the aisles when Forrest scored and in the previous games. So if you're going shopping on Saturday afternoon, hopefully you will see a bearded employee jumping up and down the shop because it will mean that Forrest have won the game or scored. So we'll be back with you for our post-match show. We'll have a watch there and Marley will hopefully record up the highlights on the match of the day by then.
