In this episode, Megan discusses just how did she end up here, the why behind the show and what you can expect in the coming episodes. Releases will be every Friday and we hope you'll join us each week.

Favorite product to try: From time to time Megan will share products that she loves and link them here in the show notes. Today it was MASA!
MASA Chips! They are incredible. The crunch factor is amazing and they are totally guilt-free. Fried in 100% grassfed beef tallow, its organic corn and sea salt. That's. It!  My favorite are the original and blue corn.

Introduction and Podcast Launch

00:00:25
Megan Rafalski
Welcome, folks. This is the Digging In Podcast, and I'm your host, Megan. I'm so glad that you're here. Welcome

Family and Community Involvement

00:00:31
Megan Rafalski
to the intro for this new venture that I'm on with the Lord. I'm so excited, little nervous, but we're just diving in and we're going get started. This has been a long time coming. the Lord has been so good and gracious with me. And so it's happening. This is what we're doing. So I'm excited and I'm glad that you're here. Just a little bit of background on who I am. i my name is Megan. i grew up in Southwest Virginia and I'm married to my husband, Adam, and we have a son, Noah. He's in high school.
00:01:03
Megan Rafalski
Hard to believe. I can't believe it most days. And he just recently surpassed me in height. He's so tall. It's getting ridiculous. I need to do that challenge that's going on ah social media right now where you hold your child for the last time. I just can't bring myself to doing it. It's like breaking my heart to even think about it. And I'll probably break my back when I do it. But anyway, we also have a golden deedle named Rosie. And I didn't want to forget we've got chickens out in the backyard, too. They're a lot of fun. And right now it's cold, so they're not giving us too much. But in the summertime, they're a whole lot of fun because they're just providing a lot of nutritious, delicious food for us. So...
00:01:43
Megan Rafalski
We live in the greater Washington, D.C. area. i serve on our women's ministry team at our church where I facilitate one of our small groups for Bible study. And then I also lead one of our support groups that we offer. Love serving in our church. I'm also part of our events and hospitality team when there's time for that. Sometimes there's just barely any time to breathe. So anyway, but I love serving with events, especially when we have a bunch of different things going on.
00:02:12
Megan Rafalski
So that's where you'll find me sometimes on at my son's school as well. I love to help out with spirit there. It's a brand new school. And so I'm trying to help them get going with, you know, just building that school spirit. I was a cheerleader in high school, so it's right up my alley and just natural for me. And I really enjoy being with the kids and just getting them excited and helping them take ownership. So that's been a lot of fun as well.
00:02:37
Megan Rafalski
So I'm going to give my full testimony in the next couple of episodes, but to get started, you may be wondering how did we get here? And I'm going to try and give you the short version of that. So some have said that I have the gift of speaking and I definitely got in trouble for that in high school a lot. I had a hard time keeping my mouth shut. And to be honest with you, i wasn't following the Lord at the time, and I had some pretty rude bones in my body. Lord, please continue to remove those. I was just not exactly respectful, if you ah get my drift. So praise the Lord. He's done a ton of work in my heart in that way. But... Um,

Personal Challenges and Faith

00:03:18
Megan Rafalski
i the big push to actually launch into this came, um, back in 2016. My husband and I got married in 2008 and back in 2016, we went through some really tough stuff in our marriage. And, um, just to state for the absolute record, we never would have survived that without first the Lord.
00:03:40
Megan Rafalski
And then also his body of believers that he surrounded us with at the time and ongoing. It's so important. And we'll get into all of that to have community and to have a body of believers and to be plugged into a Bible-believing church, I believe, is so vitally important in your life. So if you're not, now's the time. Um, so yeah, we went through some really hard stuff and through the healing process, God just laid on my heart to write, which is funny because I've never, in high school, I did not enjoy English class. I was not good at it. And to be honest with you, I'm finding out now that it was just things that I didn't want to read about. I didn't want to write about, but the things that set my heart on fire, i can read and
00:04:26
Megan Rafalski
talk and write for days about. So it's pretty cool to see now how the Lord has used that and is using it. And so during the healing process, it was just super cathartic to be able to um express my emotions through pen and paper and then also like an online but ah journal where I would do anything from just reflecting on what the Lord was teaching me and his word. And

Inspiration to Create and Share

00:04:50
Megan Rafalski
more than anything at the time, it was just a lot of lamenting and crying out to him. And I've got my Bible next to me that I had at that time. And it's just, it's tear stained pages and so many different dates written in the margin of where he showed up and how he spoke to me and encouraged my heart and gave me hope. And so I'm so thankful for that.
00:05:13
Megan Rafalski
So through that, then about four years ago, the Lord told me to start a podcast. And so here we are. That was four years ago. Delayed obedience, my friends, is disobedience. So now I finally decided to obey and I'm really excited. So why the name Diggin' Well, well,
00:05:36
Megan Rafalski
Well, when i was in just a really desperate and dark place, um though like I said, the Lord met me through his word and I found hope there. there were There are lots of voices out there. um You can go on the internet, social media, and try and find what you're looking for. And everyone's going to have an opinion on how to do what you're looking to do or an opinion on how to fix what you want to fix or an opinion on how to...
00:06:07
Megan Rafalski
you know, just move through life. And so for me, it was so important to find the right voices and to weed out the ones that I didn't want to let into my into my ears anymore because they weren't helpful at the time. So all of that to say, if it's not from his word, it's not going to be fruitful. And so I had to really kind of hone in, but it was hard to find um real authentic people that wanted to share how they got through things. And I think especially in the church, there can be a lot of taboo around certain topics. And so it was a struggle. And i did find some things which I'm super thankful for. And so it's just been a journey. So I should pause here and tell you that I am an avid gardener. you will find me out in the yard most days that I can. i love being outside. Again, we'll get into that in later podcasts, but I just feel this incredible connection with the Lord outside, especially when I have my shoes off, especially when I'm at the beach in the sand. I mean, who doesn't feel close to the Lord when you're at the beach? Um,
00:07:16
Megan Rafalski
So anyway, i love gardening. I love all things, you know, agriculture and horticulture and, you know, all of that. And i like to think I have a green thumb, but I can kill some plants. So don't don't be fooled. um But you'll you'll notice a lot of my analogies and just things that I share have a lot to do with gardening and growing and um I've just learned so much about God's creation and who he is as our creator um through being outside and being in his word and going back and studying the Bible. And I always joke, I could spend 10 years in Genesis and still only be scratching the surface. And every year when January rolls and around like it is now. I start my Bible all over again, and I love just being in Genesis. And then I usually camp out there for a little while, and then I have to like speed catch up through the rest of my Bible reading because I like to read through the Bible once every year, cover to cover.
00:08:13
Megan Rafalski
And um that's just been a really fruitful practice in my life, and so I'm super thankful for it. So when I started writing, eventually the Lord did tell me to put it into a blog form and to share it with the world. And whether anyone read it it that was not for me to decide or to know it really, but that he would use it. And that was up to him. And I just needed to leave it in his hands. And so I started a blog called My Seeds of Hope.
00:08:40
Megan Rafalski
And that's just where I shared a little bit about um what I was going through and just what he prompted for me to share at the time. And so that was super fun and I really enjoyed it and it was a season.
00:08:53
Megan Rafalski
But then over the years, there were different seasons of life, obviously. um You get busy with kids and just other things going on. And so I kept writing, but I didn't necessarily keep posting it. And so I have a lot of things that are stored up.
00:09:07
Megan Rafalski
um And at the time, too, I was really asked to share my testimony more. um So I was speaking more than I was really writing and posting, um which was just a huge blessing to be able to share and not only my testimony, our marriage testimony, and just to see how God used that for his glory and for God. ministering

Authentic Storytelling

00:09:29
Megan Rafalski
to people. you know When you share your story and you open up, it's it's always been so... it's just It's this incredible experience where people come to you and they flock to you. And it's not necessarily because they've had these same exact experiences, but because they know and they feel that you are a safe place and that you're you're real and you're an authentic person. And so...
00:09:50
Megan Rafalski
If anything, I hope that you get authenticity from me because it's just kind of who I am. um i wear my heart on my sleeve. And so then God said, do a podcast. And I thought, sure, no problem. I've got plenty to say. i can do that. Let's go.
00:10:10
Megan Rafalski
And then I'm going to leave it right there for you as a cliffhanger just for fun to make sure you'll come back for more episodes. But I do plan on send or sharing my testimony over the next couple of episodes.
00:10:24
Megan Rafalski
But you should know that i struggle. If you don't know me in real life, maybe one day we will meet because that's always fun to meet new people. But um I really, really struggle with staying on the surface. It's just not something that I do well, which can make for awkward issues. in-person time with people, especially groups. I love one-on-one. enjoy groups as well, but one-on-one is where it's at in my opinion or small groups, because that's when you can really dig in and talk about the things that matter in life. And so, um, when we're standing around talking about things that are superfluous and don't really matter in eternity, I struggle. And so,
00:11:09
Megan Rafalski
I'm digging in and now I'm 40 people. Today on the launch of this podcast is my 40th birthday, which is just ah wild. I have been waiting for this moment. I am so excited. i will just go ahead and mention and we'll talk about it later. I've got some sparklers in my hair. i have been, i got, that by the way, sparklers. I learned gray hair. No, no.
00:11:32
Megan Rafalski
They're sparklers. It is a crown of glory. And God says that in his word. And so I'm going to wear them proudly. i don't do highlights. And ladies, quit wasting your money. Age gracefully. Just let them come. So they're in here. I promise. They're coming in. I actually got a few a couple of years ago and actually one. I got one a couple of years ago and the Lord plucked it right out of my head because...
00:11:53
Megan Rafalski
I was so proud of it. I was like, yes, Lord, I'm getting some wisdom now. He was like, oh, no, no, no, no. Slow down, sister. But anyway, um I've always, as I said earlier, been a heart on my sleeve kind of person. And so I am just even more so now because eternity is coming, people, and we don't know when that last moment here on earth is going to be. So it's time for us to talk about the real things that matter. So that is why this place is called Digging In, and that's how we got here. So what you can expect here, um i am
00:12:32
Megan Rafalski
going to be as real as possible.

Podcast Focus and Goals

00:12:35
Megan Rafalski
um I have no problem talking about the deeper things in life. And so we're going to do that here. We're going to talk about marriage. We're going to talk about parenting, infertility, betrayal, health struggles, and wellness pursuits, cultural things, all kinds of things we are going to talk about. But really the Lord in my healing journey showed me the verse in Revelation, Revelation 12, 11, where he says that we overcome the enemy by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. And so Jesus Christ, he is the blood of the lamb and he already paid that that price on the cross for everyone who would choose to believe in him. And so the next part, that testifying, the testimony, that is up to us, sister and brother, if you're listening um That's up to us is to testify to the Lord's goodness. And so we're going to do that here. I love hearing people's stories of triumph um in the Lord and how he met them in their struggles and he helped them to overcome. And so that's what we're going to do. We're going to share some powerful testimonies. I've got a girlfriend who is a great Bible teacher and loves, has a passion to teach Bible.
00:13:45
Megan Rafalski
ah women in particular how to study the Bible for themselves. So she's going to come on and help us do that. um I will share products. I mean, if you follow me on social media, it's just like, that's like hanging out with friends to me. You know, if it's a product that I like, like,
00:14:01
Megan Rafalski
masa chips. I love masa chips. Um, and any other type of thing you want to share it with your friends, like, Oh my goodness, I had taco Tuesday last night. It was delicious. And what really set it off with the guacamole was the masa chips because it's beef tallow and sea salt and corn, organic corn. That is it clean. And I felt good about it. And so I stuffed my face and it was all gravy. I'm going to share that because i want you to enjoy it too. And so I will share links and things like that.
00:14:29
Megan Rafalski
Um, but I most importantly just want to surrender this whole thing to the Lord. Um, I am expected to see what he's going to do with it. This has been his plan the whole time and we'll see where he takes it. And I'm really excited. So for now it'll be once a week on Fridays, that will be the release day. So you can subscribe and hit that little bell button. I'm still learning all these things. My son is helping me through it. he He's my producer. So shout out to Noah. He's my producer. um And so anyway, I'm learning all the things.
00:15:03
Megan Rafalski
As far as the duration goes, y'all, I really don't know. I have talked about this and been like, I don't know, do I keep it a certain length and this and that and the other? But as my coach says, there is an answer to this question. It takes as long as it takes.
00:15:19
Megan Rafalski
So I might split up certain testimonies and things of that nature into multiple episodes depending on how long they get. And sometimes we'll just post the whole thing and we'll talk until we're blue in the face and until the Lord accomplishes what he wants to accomplish. So buckle up. I can be long-winded, but I'm glad you're here and it's going to be a lot of fun. I am really excited. We will laugh together. We will cry together. It's going to be great.
00:15:45
Megan Rafalski
um I do and would love feedback. So the best place to connect with me is on social. ah Instagram in particular is where I really do most of the things and it just shares to my Facebook. I'm not really over there as much, but I try to dip over there and respond to stuff. I'm really bad about it. So you can reach out to me there. You can go to my website, myseedsofhope.com.
00:16:09
Megan Rafalski
And there's a contact and you can subscribe for an email list. I haven't sent an email through that in a long time. I hope to be a little bit more consistent, but I'll get buttons together and this and that and the other to get ah you connected along the way as best I can. I'm learning as I go, as I said, but again, back to my coach, he was quoting another guy, but he said you've got to start before you're ready. And let me just say, I'm not ready. i mean, I'm kind of ready, but I'm not really ready. You know what I mean? i was telling some friends, it's like having a baby. Are you ever really ready? You know, that baby's going to come. It doesn't matter if I'm ready or not.
00:16:48
Megan Rafalski
The Lord's going to make that baby come. So I'm surrendering it to him and here it goes. So anyway, you can reach me on social media. I'll link all of that in the show notes below.
00:16:59
Megan Rafalski
And if you have any questions, you always feel free to reach out. Obviously, if you're familiar with podcasts or anything like this, The way to help this be successful is to go and share it on your social media. It's to like, it's to comment, it's to subscribe. um And really it helps the show if you comment and leave five-star review and just, um yeah.
00:17:23
Megan Rafalski
if it But again, if it's helpful, then you're naturally going to share that just like me with my products. I want you to enjoy it. So I'm going to share it. So if there's something in here that is helpful or that you think someone would benefit for from, please share it with them. I would love for them to be ministered to to through what only the Lord has to provide because at the end of the day, I'm full of hot air And the Lord is the only one who has something good to say. So with that, we did it. I can't believe it. i am feeling pretty awesome as far as not wanting to throw up anymore.
00:17:57
Megan Rafalski
Thank you so much for listening and sticking with me through this. I'm again, I'm just so excited and I hope that you'll come back and Join us next week as we jump into a little bit more of my testimony and I will share.
00:18:13
Megan Rafalski
We'll see how far we get. All right, folks, have a good one.
