Void's Virtual World and Favorite Game
00:00:50
Speaker
you. So what's the void like, if I may ask?
00:00:54
Speaker
The void. It is essentially the space in between dimensions. ah And I am a dragon VTuber that um ah travels between those dimensions and you know streams my adventures for the interweb to see. Excellent.
00:01:12
Speaker
And is is it is it a comfortable place wandering the void? what what's what's it What's it like? what it what Is it like a just a dark hallway or is it is there some... they theirs there There are things there that... i'm ah the The very, very hungry things. But, ah you know, if you've wandered it for as long as I have, you know to you know what sectors to stay away from and what things are okay to like ah go near and what aren't.
00:01:42
Speaker
um If you have a ship like I do, it's very easy to navigate. But if you don't, it's it's it's rough to say the least. Good to know.
00:01:55
Speaker
I'll be sure to pack a bunch of chocolate chip cookies before I. Yes, of course. Yes. Well, welcome to the podcast void because you're brand new here. We do get to start off with the loading screen, which is where you give us your favorite video game, video game character and video game soundtrack.
00:02:12
Speaker
All right. So my favorite game. Sorry. The biggest question we could ask any gamer. What's your favorite game? It is. It is a very like difficult question to answer because I love so many games. um And, you know, gaming for me is very it's a very important part of my life.
00:02:31
Speaker
um But right now, I would say my favorite game is Lies of P. okay It's a Souls-like game developed by NioWiz.
00:02:43
Speaker
um It's very, very good. ah it it's It's essentially the story of like like They take the story of Pinocchio and introduce... edgy Well, it's more than that. But I mean, just if you if for people who haven't played it, it's just like it's essentially Bloodborne, but with Pinocchio.
00:03:06
Speaker
Like, yeah including including all the cosmic horror and eldritch type of themes and also themes of, like, what it means to be human and how could something that isn't human become human.
00:03:22
Speaker
um And it has made me cry. it is it is one of the only games that have ever made me cry, like, sobbing, weeping. Wow. It's very, very good. I would highly
Gaming Challenges and Nostalgia
00:03:33
Speaker
recommend to everyone. have to ask, because Liza P is one the only souls that actually has a difficulty slider. What difficulty did you play it on, if I may ask that?
00:03:46
Speaker
ah So I played it on Legendary Stalker, which is the hardest difficulty. Okay, you're crazy. Well, here's the thing. Here's the thing. When the game was first released, there was no difficulty slider. So when I played it the first time, it was just the base the baseline difficulty. um And then when they introduced the difficulty slider, they only introduced lower ah difficulty settings as opposed to higher difficulty settings. So playing it on the lower ones, I just felt like because I was so used to the um ah like the standard difficulty playing on the lower ones, it just felt like it wasn't boring, but I was just like, man, this is too easy, you know?
00:04:27
Speaker
um But um I mean, i enjoyed it. Like, that's why I think Liza P is a very good and entrance entrance into Souls-likes as a genre. ah Because of how, like, approachable it is. And like, again, because of the difficulty slider. 100% agree.
00:04:44
Speaker
one hundred percent agree I've slowly started Lies of P. I haven't gotten far and it's kind of just been pushed to the side because other games have come out. That's that's so valid. like There's so many games coming out nowadays. I just don't have time to play any of them.
00:05:00
Speaker
Exactly. There's too many games and not enough time. like as we saw in Summer Game Fest, 9,000 games came out in the front half of this year on Steam alone.
00:05:12
Speaker
Jeepers some of that stuff is a I slop that we don't have to play it much yeah but like it's still a big number even for someone like me who's like I want to get into more like series like you know I want to get into like recently I've been playing Ocarina of Time for the first time ah which one of the greatest games of all time but as people have said allegedly as people say allegedly allegedly um And yeah, it's really good. But the thing is, there's so many past games that I want to play, like games from like 10, 15, 20 years ago that like I haven't had a chance to play yet. There's still in the 2000s there.
00:05:56
Speaker
well Exactly. I know. It's like like even past that, like 30, 40 years ago that I haven't played yet. yeah and you You know what hurts? We have to say 30 or 40 years to talk about games from the ninety s now.
00:06:09
Speaker
You know that that hurts. That hurts so many people now because we're used to saying, oh yeah, like 20 years ago. isn't that No, 20 years ago was 2006. 20 years ago. I mean, it's hurting me now because I'm in my mid twenties now. So like saying that 20 years ago was 2006. was like, what? It's oh, like instantly aging. My back. Yeah. I've already started to do the dad thing of when I get up, I go like, yeah like I do that all the time. yeah ah
00:06:44
Speaker
I feel that. I feel that so much. so
Favorite Game Characters and Comparisons
00:06:47
Speaker
Okay. What about your favorite game character? Favorite game character. This one's a bit more difficult. um I do want to say like like there's there's like three that I can think of off the top of my head. All right. And um one is obviously the player character from Lies of P. They don't call him Pinocchio. They call him just like puppet of Geppetto. um But um ah he's he's up there.
00:07:13
Speaker
i also i really love. um ah um The Knight from Hollow Knight or Ghost. Oh, yeah. Because again, I love Hollow Knight as well. and But if I had to pick one, it would probably be Hornet from both Hollow Knight 1 and from Silksong.
00:07:33
Speaker
Just because like, i really can't describe what I love about her other than just like, she's so Like, like like it's it's that link trait of, like, not giving up even with unsurmountable odds, you know? That's what I love about Hornet and, like, how she she cares deeply for the people in her life. And, you know, she's very, like, she's very closed off. But, like, as we get to know her more in Silksong, she gets to open up more to the people that um she's helped along the way. And, um ah you know...
00:08:11
Speaker
learning about the ghost in hollow night, um, and seeing how she's processing, like, Oh, this isn't just like another empty vessel. This is something with a purpose in mind.
00:08:23
Speaker
Um, and seeing her like, you know, rationalize that I feel like it's very interesting. Um, ah character arc to see her go on. Yeah. I love Hornet. I love her so much.
00:08:35
Speaker
Also, she's just fun to play as, uh, er I mean, i think if you build her the right way to like your sprays play style, yes. i unfortunately didn't do that. I actually very much do not like Silksong as much as I like Hollow Knight.
00:08:50
Speaker
I like Hollow Knight so much more than I do Silksong. I had to quit Silksong because it was... ah no either Now, granted, I played Hollow Knight, what was it, five or six years ago now? yeah My skills apparently...
00:09:05
Speaker
ah You know, you don't play a game for that long. and You know, your your skills deteriorate and they got bad. Like I like genuinely I had to rage quit Silksong because am I just I couldn't handle it anymore.
00:09:20
Speaker
i I've met a lot of people like that where it's like they they played Hollow Knight one when it first came out and then they played Silksong when it first came out. It's like, oh, Silksong is way harder. And like, I'm not going to say that Silksong isn't way harder. It is.
00:09:34
Speaker
um I personally, like when I first played Hollow Knight, it was like I finished it like six months before Silksong came out. um So my skills are very fresh. Yes, absolutely. And then when I jumped into Silksong, I was like, man, this is really hard. But, you know, I still like it um I think the added mechanics in Silksong, just the amount of mobility that you have in Silksong, I think improves the combat flow a lot because it feels much faster.
00:10:09
Speaker
um I could do without taking all that double damage. That's that's a little twist in the dick, but you know. um yeah I'll agree with you there. like i I feel like a lot of the issues that people have might be like not as like forward if you know there wasn't like double damage in every single boss. that's the That's the thing that bugs me because it's like If it's like a big attack, like that's fine. If every boss is capable of doing double damage, I'm okay with that because it's like, it's one big attack that they have, yeah but it's every attack that does double damage. Yeah. um
00:10:48
Speaker
But yeah, I personally think that Silksong is better than Hollow Knight one, even with
Hot Takes and Game Difficulty Debates
00:10:53
Speaker
that. But I mean, you know, I realize that I'm in the minority when I say that.
00:10:59
Speaker
um I just think the added mechanics just like shoot it way up higher and also like the new environments and um like the different ways that you can play, like the the different crests that you can equip to change your moveset.
00:11:15
Speaker
like that's That's very fun. Even though I stuck with like the basic moveset from the beginning, um I still like that you can adjust your moveset depending on what you want to do. Yes. no it is there There are some nice quality of life things that they did change, which i and obviously like the world is very, very pretty to look at. And it's a really cool map.
00:11:35
Speaker
And I hope like people... they They're working on the ah DLC for it already. um Yes. And I hope that that comes with maybe some base game adjustments as well.
00:11:49
Speaker
I hope so too. Some accessibility, like, and like i'm a big thing, accessibility stuff, like helping the people who are not as good as games play the games that are harder.
00:12:01
Speaker
but I mean, like we were talking about the difficulty slider with Lies of P, yeah it helps so many more people enjoy the game at their own pace. Yep. It absolutely does. Cough, cough. Now it's your turn to do it ah from soft.
00:12:14
Speaker
Do it. You coward. Oh, you won't because you're working on another stupid multiplayer game. That's. yeah yeah the discount bloodborne yeah like like well here's the thing here's the thing i'm okay with that one i'm not okay with night rain i think elden ring night rain was the biggest cash grab that they could have ever fucking made my and i stand by those words i don't i like if you like like night rain fine i just think it was a waste of money and a way for them to make a quick dollar
00:12:47
Speaker
I mean, i have yet to play Night Reign, but I i adore Elden Ring. I have over like 1500 hours in Elden Ring. Wow. I have like three and I can't refund the game because of that. Oh, no.
00:13:00
Speaker
Unfortunate. But yeah, I love I love Elden Ring. I haven't played Night Reign yet, ah but I have a buddy of mine who said that like he played it with some friends and he was like, I really enjoyed it. he didn't He said it it wasn't as good as base game Elden Ring, but you know.
00:13:15
Speaker
I want to play. I'm of the opinion that like I want to play games myself first before yeah developing my own opinion. Yeah, absolutely. Like I used to be that type of person that saw opinions online and I was like, that's my opinion now, too. And yeah and now I'm like, I'm my own thinking person. I can yeah make my own opinions.
00:13:37
Speaker
Yes. No, ah like a night rain is like. even though I haven't played it, it's one of like the few opinions I stand by for our games. Cause like one, the souls game, the souls franchise just never appealed to me.
00:13:49
Speaker
ah I don't want to put myself through that. I slightly did with Elden ring because there was a multiplayer mod or there was no, there's multiplayer in the game. And I'm like, oh, well, I have a friend who's like very strong and he helped and he basically like killed the first like three bosses for me. ah But it was like I wasn't enjoying the game all that much. Anyway, it's just not my kind of game. ah That's why I stopped it. Unfortunately, it was like, well, this is unfortunately just we played for just too long.
00:14:23
Speaker
Steam refund this. rad it's the yeah that's i mean and not every game is for everyone so you know exactly if ah and if we all had the same opinions like there'd be no point in doing a podcast like this where express our opinions exactly okay lastly favorite game soundtrack Favorite game
Impactful Game Soundtracks
00:14:42
Speaker
soundtrack. I haven't played Delta Rune yet, um but I have played Undertale a lot and Undertale so far is my favorite video game soundtrack of all time.
00:14:52
Speaker
um ah I'm pretty sure once I play Delta Rune, it's going to overtake that because the music in Delta Rune, from what I've heard, is even better than the music in Undertale. Yeah.
00:15:03
Speaker
But just the music in Undertale just means so much to me because it's been in my life for so long. And, you know, when I first played it, I was ah I was in a very like difficult space. And then seeing how much a game could elicit emotion from me, like it really kind of changed my life. So I, i you know, having the music in Undertale and having those emotions attached to it, like that's why it's my favorite.
00:15:27
Speaker
Do you know think Pope Francis ever played the copy of Undertale? Yeah.
00:15:32
Speaker
before he retired as Pope. Oh my God. I hope so. I really do. i forgot that that happened. Yeah. And now the new Pope's just signing Pokemon cards, specifically Poppios. Yeah, the new Pope's an actual gamer. No, the copy is in the Pope's Steam library, in his individual library. So it's like only the Pope can play it when the Pope. Only the Pope can play it. The Pope's... What you think the Pope's Steam account is? Is it just the Pope?
00:16:08
Speaker
The Pope. Do they have to update it every year to like Pope and whatever number Pope we're on? Is that what it is? Is that how the official Vatican Steam account works? It has to say the Vatican papacy. That's what it has to say. Yes, of course. Okay. Moving on to our last opening segment. Hot takes.
00:16:31
Speaker
Void, what is your hottest video game take? My hottest video game take. Hmm. I have to, I have to debate between. o I mean, i I'm willing to hear both here.
00:16:42
Speaker
All right. So my first one is Sonic Adventure 2 is not the best Sonic game. It's just, you just think it's the best because you played it when you were a kid. I agree.
00:16:53
Speaker
and this is coming from a guy who speed ran that game, who also played it a lot as a kid and has probably over couple hundred hours in it from time on the GameCube and time on Steam.
00:17:08
Speaker
ah I much prefer Sonic Adventure 1, but also legitimately every other Sonic game aside from like Heroes that came after it and 06, but 06 for different reasons.
00:17:21
Speaker
Well, 06 wasn't a finished game. It wasn't a finished game, no. Great story. It it it it was an interesting story concept. It's not a bad story. Great soundtrack.
00:17:33
Speaker
You know, just I wish they finished it. But that's what you can play Project 06 because it is finished and added i it's actually a good god piece of be ah media and whatnot.
00:17:46
Speaker
ah But legitimately, every other Sonic game is better than Sonic Adventure 2. I would say it helps build the foundation of what modern Sonic games should look like. Yeah, I can agree. I can agree that it was a very foundational title.
00:17:58
Speaker
I don't think it's the best one. Not in a landslide. I mean, my favorite Sonic game is Sonic Mania. So there's that. I'm bad at 2D Sonics, which is why the 2D Sonics are not there.
00:18:11
Speaker
I'm not very good at them either, but I still like it. what What's the other hot take you have? My other hot take. So this is big this is ah ah circling back to what we were talking about before.
00:18:23
Speaker
I don't think Elden Ring is that hard. I mean... If you actually like skip that tree Sentinel and go, ah level up and like, actually like get yourself powered up enough. Yeah, sure.
00:18:39
Speaker
But if you're, uh, I want to fight everything. The second I see it type of person. m That's not the type of game that Elden Ring is though.
00:18:50
Speaker
Yeah, no, exactly. um And I understand, like, I do want to say Elden Ring can be hard and I've struggled a lot on bosses, but overall the game is not that hard because there's ways of mitigating the ah difficulty. However, the one fight in Elden Ring that I will say is legitimately difficult is the final boss of the DLC. That thing took me actual days of attempts.
00:19:18
Speaker
That is disgusting. Yeah. it is It is the most difficult boss FromSoft has ever made, in my opinion. Harder than Orphan of Kos and Bloodborne. Harder than ah Gale and Dark Souls 3.
00:19:30
Speaker
Like, i I think it's harder than the final boss of the DLC of Lies of P, personally. But overall, Elden Ring is not that hard. Okay.
00:19:43
Speaker
You know what? and I'll agree to disagree with you there, but you know what? That's okay. That's why they're hot takes. They're not everyone's take, but they're your take. Yes. i I will stick with this until the day I die. and You know what? That is a-okay.
Xbox Game Showcase Highlights
00:19:58
Speaker
All right, with that, it's time for us to dive into our Headline of the Week, with the which is continuing Summer Game Fest 2026. As you guys know, last week, we covered the PlayStation State of Play, the main ah showcase, ah and what else did we cover? little Legitimately, everything else that happened aside from like two things.
00:20:18
Speaker
ah The Xbox Game Showcase happened on the Sunday, and that is one that we did not cover here on the podcast, but we're doing it now, and it was honestly... in my opinion, the best of the showcases.
00:20:31
Speaker
It wasn't. I think it had some good, some good games lined up. Xbox came out swinging until ah later, later this earlier this week stuff happened, but we'll get to that when we get to that. Starting off, we got our first look at Gears of War E-Day gameplay.
00:20:48
Speaker
ah Looks good. I've never played. I've played like five minutes of the first Gears, though. ah Not for me. ah unfortunately. ah Game comes out October 6th and it will be a console exclusive ah which we have not seen come from Xbox in a long time.
00:21:05
Speaker
i actually think that again. I'm glad that they're doing more but more exclusive games because um ah it it it incites um ah ah competition in the gaming space and I think we need that.
00:21:18
Speaker
Yeah, i think we i I think it's nice to have. And also, when it comes to Xbox consoles, other games still come out on PC still. So it's like yeah it's not like we're not going to be able to play it if we don't have an Xbox.
00:21:31
Speaker
Because a lot of us now have a computere have a PC. Yeah, I mean, I do all my gaming on PC now. i and i have I have a Switch and then my PC, and then that's it. Yeah, I have a Switch to PS5 PC.
00:21:44
Speaker
Oh man, I want to switch too. So bad. it is It's nice. It's nice. And again, we have like a bit of time still before that price increase comes where it increases by $10. I hope and I'll get it before then. yeah Yeah. We've then got a new cinematic trailer for Fable.
00:22:02
Speaker
We got to see the villain and also ah the Jack of Blades is returning. The villain from the first game is also going to be a part of this new fable adventure.
00:22:13
Speaker
ah The game did get delayed, but we have a new release date of February 23rd, 2027. And I am going to be all over this. I... have played i and I have I am in the minority when I say this, I love Fable 3.
00:22:29
Speaker
Fable 3 is what got me into Fable. ah It's the only Fable game I've played, but I really enjoyed my time playing it as ah as a junior high kid, high schooler.
00:22:41
Speaker
and I'm very excited to play the new one when it comes out. I, I, as another RPG. I can't invest too much time into that. I'm sorry.
00:22:54
Speaker
I have so many RPGs. I need to play still fair. Very fair. We got a new trailer for halo campaign evolved and they they're adding three brand new missions, prequel missions into the game as well. It comes out next month on July twenty eighth and They also released the achievement list as well.
00:23:15
Speaker
And ah I don't think going to get all the trophies in this game because one of them requires lasso. And if you don't know what lasso is, it stands for legendary all skulls on.
00:23:32
Speaker
Oh, oh, oh, that's going to be. Oh, you see, it's only bad. The only reason it's bad is because of one particular skull called iron. If you die when iron is on, if you are playing go alone, you start the mission from the beginning.
00:23:48
Speaker
Yeah. If you are playing with people, you just start back at your most recent checkpoints. So ah get your friends together. And once you unlock all the skulls, get ready to lasso campaign that shit. Because honestly, we might do that. That's what I might do. i as i would like to get the platinum trophy on the PlayStation 5 version of this, which is also, again, it's coming out on PlayStation 5 on top of everything else. That is still that is still insane to me. that it's It's coming on a PS5. And Halo is the Xbox game.
00:24:19
Speaker
yeah on p s five yeah It's Yeah, it's very weird, but you know what? i' I'm all for it. Yeah, I am too. The more people get to play it. Exactly. ah Residents, a Plague Tale Legacy, brand new Plague Tale game coming out August 27th.
00:24:35
Speaker
ah And then Persona fans got the first of two big announcements. Persona 4 Revival's release date is February 2027.
00:24:45
Speaker
And ah the new song, it sounds really good. I'm excited to play this. I've played a little bit of Golden, but then ah they announced that, oh, hey, guys, all of the Persona games going come to like every console now and don't have to play Golden on just PC anymore.
00:25:03
Speaker
I'm like, oh, cool. I'll just play on PlayStation. I haven't gone around to that yet. So ah realistically, my full like first experience with Persona 4, aside from watching the anime, will be through Revival.
00:25:14
Speaker
I have not played any Persona games, but I love that I bought both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden on my Switch before the remakes of both got announced.
00:25:25
Speaker
I was like, you know, I want to play the Persona games. Oh, hey, there's like the three Persona game collection on on Switch. I'll buy that. And then literally the next week, Persona 3 Remake we got announced. Yeah, Reload. And then Persona 4 Revival got announced now. And I'm like...
00:25:41
Speaker
Fuck. Yeah. And they also do have a brand new cast. ah As we, as we do know, we actually got to know our, for our first batch of voice actors, ah the protagonist, you, Narukami. And if you name him anything else, uh,
00:25:57
Speaker
I'm sorry. He is always going to be you, Darukami. Sorry, you're wrong. Mr. Yosuke Hadamora is being voiced by Paul Castro Jr. Chie Satanaka is being voiced by Ann Yatko.
00:26:12
Speaker
Yukiko Amagi is voiced by Brianna Knickerbocker. And Marie is being voiced by Ari Thrash. ah That's all we know so far. Very, very talented voice actors.
00:26:25
Speaker
Very talented. ah So can't wait to see ah what they what they do for the game. um State Decay 3 was announced with a release window of next year.
00:26:37
Speaker
Don't know anything more than that, unfortunately. Sea of Thieves season 20 is out now. ah had is now added the custom seas update, which is basically sea of thieves, forage mode to put it in a halo terms.
00:26:54
Speaker
that's That's very cool. I like that they did that. I'm not a big Sea of Thieves guy, but you know that's still really cool that they're adding custom seas. Yes. Medsha 2039 comes out February 2027.
00:27:05
Speaker
ah the i guess I would say the sleeper hit trailer of the show, Bad Magpie, a again, where you're a little magpie on a journey and you can't fly. It's kind of sad.
00:27:16
Speaker
ah Comes out next year as well. You can you can commit arson theft. Yeah. I do something with the elder gods. I don't know. The end of the trailer was like wild a little bit.
00:27:29
Speaker
ah That comes out next year. Wolong two wings of Ember comes out early 2027. Join us. The brand new co-op cult game coming out. March 2027 looks absolutely hilarious.
00:27:45
Speaker
And I, this is the perfect game for every streamer. no I kind of agree. but i mean, considering that like your chats, of basically your cult. Yeah. i mean, we saw how well cult of the land did people love cult games.
00:28:06
Speaker
got to play cult of the land, Just saying. ah Then we got a trailer for a new Seua game coming out 2027. However. This is very close to down. Ninja theory, the studio behind the hell blade series. Stabbers will turn hold on a call ah this past Monday about the closure, but they are hoping the studio will find a buyer. The closure comes several Xbox studios at Microsoft, including compulsion games and double fines are in active negotiations about spinning off as Bloomberg reported.
00:28:39
Speaker
this is So this may not actually come out. This may not exist, actually. It's It's so sad. i So on the one hand about this, I can see why Xbox is doing this because, you know, the amount of irreparable damage that Phil Spencer did to to the to the company by constantly buying new studios when they had no money.
00:29:04
Speaker
Um, so I can understand it from a business perspective. However, this is still really sad to see. i don't think it's like, I don't think this is a good move on Xbox's part to try and save money. I can understand why they're doing it. I'm still not a fan of it.
00:29:20
Speaker
Um, Again, I always think of when Nintendo was in trouble back in like the mid 2010s, Satoru Wada took a massive pay cut in order to save the company.
00:29:33
Speaker
Meanwhile, Asha Sharma is shutting down ah subsidiaries. and I'm like, man, can we go back to that of like CEOs actually caring their company? Can the rich like, I don't know, take a pay cut? I don't know. No, they need another $3 billion dollars in their bottom line. Yeah, because it all has to go to Activision Blizzard because of that. Who's not? oh Okay, hold on. I'm going to get angry. I triggered something. I triggered a nerve.
00:30:04
Speaker
I just I hate Activision Blizzard. I hate them so much. Oh my God. Oh my God. Same. Oh my God. Do we just become best friends? Oh yeah. We just became best friends. Yes. Oh my god oh yeah i I do not like but i specifically more Blizzard than Activision because like early day Activision, they have some decent stuff.
00:30:25
Speaker
Oh yeah. No, Activision is a huge part of my childhood still. But ah but like Blizzard, not once, never. No, Blizzard is just... Genuinely, i i have disliked Blizzard because of how they've treated their communities of their groups.
00:30:40
Speaker
Mm-hmm. I agree. It's just it's been just a huge dumpster fire for so long. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways. Anyways, oh we got they got a thing for Fallout 76 for like a new timed event. It's already over. like it was just like, hey, here's Fallout.
00:30:58
Speaker
Okay, cool. Doom the Dark Ages. Doom the Dark Ages Revelations, the new expansion comes out July 7th. I'm excited about this. Where hell will freeze over.
00:31:11
Speaker
ah Rip and tear more. Rip and tear until it is done. When will ever be done? Never. never We got a new Series X model for Xbox's 25th anniversary. It's called the Series X 25. It is a transparent green console, sort of like those old N64s that had the transparent color versions.
00:31:34
Speaker
And if you were lucky to show up to their community, if you were like in person at their celebration, for like their community celebration, anniversary celebration, everybody who was in attendance with a specific badge got to take home that console or like they were going to get they were going to get that console when it was released that's cool which was it was that's one of the cool I will say that is kind of very based for Xbox to do that I do really like the look of the Series X model it looks very very sleek and nice yes Age Empires 4 Raiders of the North expansion comes out fall 2026 Minecraft Dungeons 2 guys release date revealed of September 29th
00:32:19
Speaker
We got a trailer for Magicians the Devil's Deal, a first person magician game where you're not using guns, you're using magic tricks to beat devils up.
00:32:31
Speaker
They look pretty cool. it it did It really did. ah Vigor Mortis is a new first person souls like from what's been described ah featuring Vincent Castle playing Napoleon ah coming out September 24th.
00:32:44
Speaker
I'm very interested in this. I want to i want to play that a lot. I think the demo is out for it. There's a demo out for it I believe. I gotta try the demo soon. Elder Scrolls Online announced the Return to the Thieves Guild expansion coming out soon, or it's out now.
00:32:58
Speaker
ah Microsoft's Flight Sim 2024 announced World Update 22, which is a bunch of American ah parks and valleys and all that stuff. And also a new racing update coming to the game as well. Where Winds Meet is now available on Xbox.
00:33:16
Speaker
Castlevania Belmont's Curse comes out October 15th. um sorry i love castlevania valid uh the very um a very uh 70s retro art style of anim ah anime uh anime uh type game comes out spring 2027 uh and then persona viz got to rejoice as we no longer have to speculate if it's greed or not persona 6 is real and it's greed and
00:33:47
Speaker
and That's all we know. That's always really all we know. at least we don't have to say, Persona 6 really anymore? We know it's real, so there. Go crazy. It's still very strange that they were announcing Persona games at Xbox.
00:34:02
Speaker
and Yeah. like like ah Because in my mind, Persona is a PlayStation series. Well, you also got to think Sega has, I think, started like, so I don't know what it is if it's like a a new deal of or just like.
00:34:17
Speaker
a new partnership where they're going to show off their stuff at Xbox more than other things now because, uh, they did Sega Atlas, Sega RGG, my Like, Stranger Than Heaven, it was shown as an Xbox first, or an Xbox Presents, when we got more details about that.
00:34:35
Speaker
And now, same thing with Persona. um So i think I think Sega struck a deal with Xbox to do that. I mean, Xbox, like, games on Xbox honestly look really good, so, you know, I guess that's fair.
00:34:49
Speaker
ah And then... Very big. if you're a fan of purple dragons, Spyro, a realm beyond coming out spring 2027. This game being developed by Toys for Bob.
00:35:02
Speaker
ah Yes. same People who did crash for, so rejoice because this is going to be good. ah For those who don't know, I am on my stream. My VTuber is a purple dragon, so I'm very hyped for this. Excellent.
00:35:18
Speaker
ah We then got a new trailer for Clockwork Revolution, which is also now a console exclusive for Xbox coming out in 2027. This game looks great. Very, a lot of Bioshock vibes in this one.
00:35:31
Speaker
And I, when they showed this last year, i immediately wishlisted it. yeah He immediately wishlisted it. So I am very excited for when this game does get a release date and comes out.
00:35:44
Speaker
And then they ended the show because they partnered with Hack Division ah with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 and the announcement that DMZ mode, their extraction shooter mode, will be returning alongside it ah on October 23rd when the game comes out.
00:36:02
Speaker
And that was the Xbox show. ended on a very strange note I feel like they should have ended on Spyro instead of they they they honestly I feel like if they put Call of Duty anywhere else it ended on like Spyro and Clockwork Revolution that would have been a lot better I agree yeah because like it's it's Call of Duty it's Call of Duty it's it's they have a new one every year freaking $70 every year Yeah. Now, granted, Infinity Ward is the one back in the seat for this one, which is nice because they haven't done one in a bit. So at least it's like, oh, at least we're not getting the same Call of Duty slot we've kind of been getting.
00:36:43
Speaker
Yeah. So that's kind of nice. But yeah, that was the Xbox showcase. Honestly, ah in my opinion, it was one of the best of the three main shows of Summer Game Fest, simply because a lot more games were announced at this one that are like, oh, I play like all of these. so so this is just good on my end.
00:37:05
Speaker
ah But what would what would you rate ah the Xbox show there, Void? How would you have rated it? um um Well, okay. They have Persona 6 announcement.
00:37:16
Speaker
They have Persona 4 revival getting a release date. uh bad magpie it looks really nice castlevania release date spyro clockwork revolution i'd give it i'd give it a solid like eight out of ten personally yeah uh me personally i think i give it a 9.5 um but no it was a it was really good and that 0.5 was taken off because of call of duty yeah End it with literally anything. Instant 10 out of Duty, 9 out of 10.
00:37:51
Speaker
Right. ah Well, with that, it's time for us to now dive into everything else that happened in the past two weeks, except for the Nintendo Directs, because we're saving that for the end. Let's dive into the week in review.
Major Game Releases and Speculations
00:38:02
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review. And starting off, some of the major games that came out these past few weeks, you had Solar Punk, the brand new survival crafting game that has you on flying islands, relying on solar energy and whatnot.
00:38:22
Speaker
Very fun. Would recommend. I'm about 10 hours in so far. ah And I'm And I'm starting to get a farm for automating sand mining. because I need sand to make solar panels is it kind of like a solar front kind of like i'm ah what is it ah what's that one crafting game ah that everyone played now no one plays it anymore that's a that's a lot there's a lot that is fall into that forget what it's called satisfactory oh ah you know what here's the it if it gets to that point
00:38:59
Speaker
I'll let you know. Currently, like there is like I don't fully know if he'll get if it goes to that point or not. Simply because I have it on like there's like, oh, yeah, there's like green energy. Use wires and stuff and tell them, you know, produce to make sure everything's connected to whatnot. But there's no like, oh, there's no way for me to get everything I'd mind from this far island over to my island without me having to fly there.
00:39:25
Speaker
Mm hmm. So unless there's stuff later on that ah will do that for me right now, there isn't with how far I am in the game. Noted, noted. So I can't say for sure.
00:39:37
Speaker
We also had The Adventures of Elliot, The Millennium Tales, or The Millennium Tales, The Adventures of Elliot. I have just downloaded this last night because it's a big game. This is 2D style graphics by Square Enix.
00:39:51
Speaker
But the game is an action RPG taking more elements from like Legend of Zelda and stuff. ah I'm very excited to try this game out and play it and see what it's all about.
00:40:03
Speaker
I'm definitely wishlisting that right now. We also had Frog Squad, which is absolutely one of the best friend slop party games I have played in a while. You and your friends are frogs.
00:40:14
Speaker
You got to get food for the Swamp King or else he'll eat you. it's funny enough, if you get hit, you become a small tadpole and you have to be fed food to return become big again.
00:40:26
Speaker
When that happens, if you all use the in-game voice chat, your voice becomes high-pitched. Oh, no when you eat a lot of food, you become what me and my friend said, a fat fucking chud and your voice gets deeper.
00:40:45
Speaker
Oh, that's hilarious. Oh my God. This game is absolutely great. Please get it. It's a cheap friend slop game, like 10 bucks or less USD. Absolutely play it. Please I always need more friends. stop I always need more friends. Oh, we also had hell let loose Vietnam. I know that my boy Sir Wiggles was excited for that one. 33 immortals. If you have 32 friends, finally you and your friends have a game that you can all play at the same time.
00:41:10
Speaker
Yeah. And also star secret. Astroneer expeditions was released as well. Dench attack, by the way, was supposed to come out this week, but for those who don't know, Dench attack got delayed to next month. So we won't be able to kick flip our, so our, our trains quite yet.
00:41:27
Speaker
Damn it. Oh, In the world of video game news, starting off, one of the biggest things that kind of dropped legitimately today, the Grand Theft Auto 6 cover art has been officially revealed and pre-orders open on June 25th, which means we are most likely getting a new trailer on the 25th. I hope so.
00:41:47
Speaker
I hope this game doesn't get delayed again. I mean, I wouldn't be mad if it didn't. and wouldn' I wouldn't be mad if it did, because I don't think a GTA six can be nominated for game awards with what it comes out currently.
00:42:04
Speaker
It's coming out in November. in Yeah. Late November. Yeah. just remember it was like, oh yeah, it's coming out in May. Oh yeah, it's coming out in July. Oh yeah, it's coming out in October. Nope, now it's November. Yeah, November 19th, which is past the deadline for a game to have been released to be nominated for Game of Awards.
00:42:25
Speaker
I mean, then it's going to be a shoo-in for Game Awards 2027. It
00:42:30
Speaker
i think it will if, and and my big if, is if the PC port releases next year. Yeah. Yeah. Otherwise, i don't know.
00:42:41
Speaker
I generally won't know. Like, yeah, it's still a big game, but like, I don't know if it'll win as many awards as people think it will win because a whole new year of games gets to come out and potentially body it now that they know what the content of GTA 6 is. That's true. that so it's out of it's Honestly, GTA 6 is at such a disadvantage disadvantageous release that I think they should delay it to 2027.
00:43:10
Speaker
Yeah, because then it'll sweep the game awards. I mean, there's also, you know, the spoilers for later in the podcast when we talk about the Nintendo Direct. ah There's also actually, know what? We'll wait. and I'll wait until we get to there and then we can talk about it. I know what you're referring to. And it's good. I know what people are theorizing of when it might come out. So I'm very fair, very very fair thing to bring up. a We will get to that later.
00:43:36
Speaker
In RPG Maker news, Gotcha Gotcha Games Incorporated announced it will be shutting down RPG Maker's existing official forums, with the more recently created RPG Maker Guild website taking its place.
00:43:50
Speaker
ah To be specific, the current forums will be deleted wholesale, including its archives, which removes a massive repository of information that many developers rely on to build their games in RPG Maker. The old forum and all its archives will be of all fully fully deleted December 11th.
00:44:07
Speaker
So if you're making games with that, grab all the shit you need. now Mm hmm. Mm hmm. I mean, I'm always one for like media preservation. So this is a big blow. Just like why delete all this? Why not? I mean, at least we have like a couple of at least we have like six months to go like make a backup backup archive sites if people wanted to.
00:44:28
Speaker
Yeah, which is still sad, but it's still sad. Valve is no longer selling physical gift cards for Steam. The company announced the news on a Steam support page explaining that the cards are being retired because scammers frequently use them to coerce money from victims.
00:44:46
Speaker
They have now implemented a brand new digital gift card option on the site where you can... It's legitimately, if you open your Steam, there's a, right at the top there, it says, send a gift card. You click on it, and you can send a gift card to any of your friends for $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or a custom i think Actually, i don't know if there's no no custom amounts. It's just the set things. And those gift cards are sent in your currency to them. So if you're sending a Canadian $5 USD, that actually turns out to be like seven or eight bucks Canadian.
00:45:21
Speaker
ah or If you're a Canadian sending five bucks Canadian to a US person, that's only like $3. It's like two cents. yeah It's not that bad. I swear. hey I'm also Canadian, so I'm dealing with this too. Yeah. um But it's, it is very nice to that, to know that now um it's actually a nice feature because I sent it to one of my friends who,
Industry News and Developments
00:45:46
Speaker
very broke. And I said to 25 bucks Canadian, I'm like, there you go. Get frog squad, bitch. And he got a couple other games with it too. And he was like, thank you so much. I'm like, yeah. So it's a very nice feature, honestly. So now when games go on sale, because Canadians can't gift when a when a game is on sale, you can't gift a sale game to other people from different countries.
00:46:08
Speaker
We can now just send them a gift card for them to go get that game on sale. Yeah. So honestly, I'm all for this. This is great. I love this feature. ah That was added. Overwatch's new hero, Shion, has been released in the third season of Overwatch.
00:46:24
Speaker
Nintendo is in the news again. They are being fined by France over Joy-Con Drift. Roughly $46 million dollars ah with this suit.
00:46:34
Speaker
ah The Consumer Affairs Office levied this fine against Nintendo after it concluded the video game maker did not fairly inform consumers about the malfunctions affecting certain controllers.
00:46:46
Speaker
It's been a long time coming. i'm I'm glad that they're finally getting shit for this legally. Yeah. So, hey, if it means that they have to, all future Joy-Cons will not have this problem.
00:47:00
Speaker
I would hope so. i would hope. Because I've i've had at least two Joy-Cons fail on me because of Drift. And both of them were after I had purchased them, like oh after a year after I had purchased them. So the warranty was void.
00:47:16
Speaker
um So I just had to buy a new one. And yeah, I'm glad that they're finally getting shit for this because this has been an ongoing issue for almost 10 years now. Yeah.
00:47:30
Speaker
ah In DLC news, the Alters, the last variable DLC was announced and will be releasing July 13th. In PC game port news, Vanillaware, the developers behind the Unicorn Overlord, 13 Sentinels, and a bunch of other games has gone on record saying that if they want people more people to have their games these games on PC, that it's up to the publisher to finance the ports, so go bug them.
00:47:54
Speaker
I can agree with that, yeah, because it's like, what are the developers going to do? They're not the ones that have all the money. It's the publishers. Paramount Game Studio says that games based on the Yellowstone slash the Taylor Sheridan universe are a big possibility to be made if they find the right partner to work with for them. Ooh.
00:48:11
Speaker
So if you're a fan of Yellowstone and that Taylor Sheridan universe, Taylor Sheridan being the guy who created the series, like lead writer, or lead creator, whatever he is. If you like that, there might be a video game coming down the line with the Paramount Game Studio.
00:48:25
Speaker
Interesting. In Ubisoft news, and it's not good news. It never is. It never it never is, honestly. ah They closed another two studios. Ubisoft Winnipeg and Belgrade are both gone, and nearly a third of its studio in Barcelona has been let go. A source familiar with the matter said the cuts will see up to 380 people put Ubi slop.
00:48:49
Speaker
I hate them. yeah You know what, though? This is going to lead to another ah another group of people creating a game of the year game. Yes, that's true. Yeah.
00:49:00
Speaker
So you know what? That's all I think about when this happens. no Those 380 people, they're going to form a studio of their own and they're going to so they're going to provide us with a game of the year is called punch Ubisoft simulator. I don't know. I would buy that in a heartbeat. i would buy that for $100. Are you kidding Ad hoc, the developers of Dispatch are adding a free update to the game to provide more options for censorship after a recent ah patch coming out for the game.
00:49:29
Speaker
ah So now you can put jorts on the guy whose balls are out. yeah I mean, I haven't played Dispatch yet. It's in my Steam library, but I haven't played it yet. ah I've been told that that it can get kind of ah a little a little ah risque, to say the least. yes And lastly, with regular gaming news, the Switch 1 eShop has miraculously and finally properly been optimized and no longer lags, and it's good now.
00:50:05
Speaker
It's just, it's crazy. It's been nine years of that. We've had to put up with that for nine years and they're finally like, okay, we'll, we'll we'll optimize it. I guess it's like, it's been lagging for nine years.
00:50:17
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. in ongoing game news, uh, starting with MMORPG news, Square Enix has teamed up with Tokyo Shibuya ward to offer digital items in final fantasy 14 to Japanese citizens who contribute part of their taxes to the district.
00:50:33
Speaker
Basically, there's like a certain, I don't know if it was like a property tax. like There's a certain tax in Japan that like if you pay, it's I i go read the article. It looks better than I can.
00:50:46
Speaker
A fortnight epic games news. The amazing digital circuses. Pobney and Jax are now in fortnight and Zubal is a pickaxe. Funny story about this.
00:50:57
Speaker
oh i i have not played I used to play Fortnite ah relatively consistently because my brother plays it all the time. um But I stopped and I haven't played for, I think, an actual year. And then they announced the skins.
00:51:14
Speaker
I redownloaded Fortnite. I purchased the skins and then I deleted Fortnite off my computer. It's like, give me, give me Jax and give me long palm knee and I will be okay. Yeah.
00:51:30
Speaker
In esport news, the Evo 2026 part, 2026 participant numbers have been released and compared to last year, numbers are down specifically for Street Fighter six.
00:51:41
Speaker
ah Speculation for this might be because of the new dates of June 26th 28th. ah Just ah to give you the numbers Street Fighter 6 2,414 participants compared to last year where they had 4,228. It might also be because Street Fighter 6 isn't as popular as it was last year. I think it's popular is doing just fine.
00:52:05
Speaker
Oh, yeah. You know what? That's fair. It is getting Tifa. How could I forget? Yeah, I think it's doing fine. I mean, tech events are in shambles. I'm surprised we didn't see. no Actually, no. Numbers are probably gonna be fine because they're getting Yuzhiro Hanma.
00:52:18
Speaker
that Yeah, yeah, that's wild as well.

00:53:37
Speaker
i'm excited for I'm excited for the Hobbit one for Magic the Gathering. Speaking of scalpers, by the way, Target in the United States have implemented a brand new no longer sell to scalpers policy.
00:53:49
Speaker
Yes, i'm i'm ah I'm happy about that. So if you come across as a scalper, they can just deny you the sale. Just nope. Cancel. No, go put those back. yeah All right. Well, with that, it is time for us now look ahead to the games coming out of these next two weeks. Here's what should be on your radar from June 22nd to July 3rd. 00:55:26
Speaker
And those are your big releases for the week. I'm so excited for the Avatar fighting game. It looks so fun. I need to look more into it. the One thing that I did learn about it is that Azula, if you lose game one with her or if you lose a game playing as her, then she enters a completely different state and has like a different move set.
00:55:49
Speaker
It's very cool. There's like a permanent rage state. Yes. Yes. It's very cool. I like that a lot. As for the big releases, Deltarune will be chatting about more with the upcoming Nintendo Direct talk.
00:56:01
Speaker
Yes. If you like the volleyball spinoff games, and you'll I'm sure you'll like Dead or Alive 6 last round. ah Star Fox, that's the big that's ah one of the big ones coming out for the Switch 2.
00:56:17
Speaker
Fully voice acted Star Fox 64. Yes. i I'm glad that they're doing fully voice acted Star Fox. I wish that they would do a new entry in the Star Fox series as opposed to doing Star Fox 64 over and over again.
00:56:34
Speaker
But, you know, can't be can't. i I'm just excited that we get a Star Fox in HD. I'm excited. I mean, yeah, like I mean, with this now, we've now seen the trifecta of remake, remaster, reimagining.
00:56:49
Speaker
Yes. With obviously Star Fox 64 3D being the remake or remaster. Yeah. Star Fox, this one being the remake.
00:57:01
Speaker
And then Star Fox Zero being the reimagined. Yes, I do. I do think that the that this Star Fox looks very good. I do like the visuals a lot. It looks very clean.
00:57:12
Speaker
it It definitely does. All right.
Nintendo Direct Announcements
00:57:15
Speaker
Well, with that, we've got Nintendo Direct to talk about and more. Let's get into that and dive into this week in the game. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the game lounge.
00:57:33
Speaker
All right. Nintendo Direct, the last big show of Summer Game Fest. It did happen. It happened on the Tuesday after all the other things happened.
00:57:44
Speaker
And let's just get right into it. They started off with opening with ah Rhythm Heaven Groove. Yeah. So excited for this. 80 rhythm games included. There's an RPG adventure mode for a player multiplayer and it comes out July 2nd. What more could you want?
00:58:03
Speaker
I literally couldn't ask for anything more. I love rhythm heaven. So this is I'm very excited for this. I like rhythm games and I've never played a rhythm heaven. So I'm probably going to pick this up myself.
00:58:16
Speaker
i'm not I'm not good at rhythm games, to be clear, but I do love Rhythm Heaven. I love the visuals. I love how quirky it is. And having the RPG adventure mode for a single player, that's really awesome. I'm i'm happy for that.
00:58:28
Speaker
Yes. So that's happening. That was the first thing they opened with. Great opening. ah Then we get to our first batch of like headlines. Onimusha, Way of the Sword Switch 2 version.

Speaker

00:58:55
Speaker
Dragon's Dogma 2 Darker Risen, ah the definitive edition of Dragon's Dogma 2 for Switch 2 releases. And also Capcom got rid of all of the microtransaction DLC for the game because of this.
00:59:08
Speaker
So big win for Dragon's Dogma 2 players. That comes out October ninth ah Stellar Blade will be coming to the Switch 2 sometime later this year. we got a new trailer for Orbitals, the co-ops anime space adventure game that now comes out September 3rd is the Switch 2 exclusive. Speaker
Rayman legends retold. i Got another trailer here. This is probably like the only good Ubisoft game that's coming out. Comes out October 1st. They in this trailer to say, yeah, there's gonna be new content as well and for new music stages alongside ah it as well.
00:59:50
Speaker
So that's kind of nice. Big walk. One of my most anticipated games of the fucking year. coming August fourth I am so ah god damn excited for this game for it. It looks like not wait to walk around doing absolutely nothing. my friends It's like if they took peak and a short hike and made them the same game. Yeah.
01:00:20
Speaker
no so i am so I am genuinely excited and i will be streaming this with my friends heck yeah heck yeah like the there will be a whole series about with this game so look forward that ah In what I wasn't expecting to see at a Nintendo Direct, One Piece Grand Gourmet, a brand new restaurant sim with One Piece where the Straw Hats are running a restaurant.
01:00:44
Speaker
There are over 400 One Piece characters that can appear dead or alive. That's insane. And comes out October twenty third Something I love about that trailer is that like when I first watched it, was like, what the heck is this? And they set the plate down and then they pan up and then you see Sanji and I'm like, what piece? What?
01:01:05
Speaker
who was Sanji, what are you doing here? Sanji, what are you doing here? There's no women here. are you doing here in the Nintendo Direct? Oh, God.
01:01:17
Speaker
Pocopia is receiving a new free update, adding the dive ability and ocean floor exploration on ah ah this August. And they announced the expansion past paid DLC, adding three things ah to it. You just have to buy the expansion past one. You'll get all three of these things. Bubbly Basin, a new town and new Pokemon, including Mudkip.
01:01:39
Speaker
ah yeah That is part one that will release in August. ah In late 2026, you will get more new features. And in 2027, another new town will be added as well.
01:01:50
Speaker
And also at the end of it, they teased Manaphy. So Manaphy is going to have something to do with probably the Bubbly Bastard ah yeah expansion part of it. I have a lot of friends who are very into Pocopia. I don't have it myself, but um ah they were they were popping off when they saw the trailer. They were like, yeah, Pocopia, we can go underwater now. Yeah.
01:02:11
Speaker
Here's the thing. I liked Pocopia. My OCD did not. yeah Oh my God. That game, like the way that they leave you the world in such a state, my OCD is like, oh no. Oh no. Oh I didn't like it. i like It's the one reason like why it's like,
01:02:33
Speaker
i Like that, like just because like if it it wasn't like that, I probably would still be playing Pacopia now and like doing hardcore on some of this shit. I can't. I just can't. i genuinely just can't.
01:02:46
Speaker
ah Fire Emblem, Fortune's Weave got a brand new trailer. ah They revealed the four heroes' names. There's four heroes, and it looks like four individual stories. Kai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Lita are your four protagonists.
01:03:00
Speaker
Each one has their own story, and it looks like ah because this is being set in the same world as Three Houses, just like far in the future, that a lot like the free time system, the three houses style free time system is returning.
01:03:17
Speaker
Mm-hmm. so Looks cool. It looks cool. Comes out September 17th. When more details come out, it will determine if I play this one or not. Yeah. because like I don't care how three houses did theirs.
01:03:33
Speaker
I've been told that that's why I'm very skeptical about this one. Like if it's fine, it's like, oh yeah, you know, you're fine. It's just like four individual stories and go. they're pretty linear and whatnot like okay i'll play it when we were when we were watching the direct together my my friends were like yeah it's three houses three let's go i mean basically yeah three houses now i think is now like the most is is basically the persona five of uh fire up yeah yeah i mean i haven't played any fire emblem but from what i've seen yeah i can totally tell it's like we're basing every game after this from this one like oh really okay yeah um if you ever start a fire i would recommend starting with uh shadows of valentia on the 3ds shadows of voices yeah okay that is that is my personal favorite
01:04:27
Speaker
Noted. also one last thing for Fortune's leave. I love how one of the main characters is just straight up Alucard from Castlevania. Yeah, there were a lot of people saying that Dietrich looks so much like Alucard. Yeah, just long blonde hair.
01:04:42
Speaker
Then in ah sequels I never thought would get announced news in the Nintendo Direct. Ninjala 2, the Uncharted Planet comes out spring 2027. The game is now Ninjala 1 was the Splatoon clone through and through.
01:04:57
Speaker
This new one is an open world action adventure game. What? Huh? I mean, how do you jump from that? I mean, sure. I mean, I haven't played Ninjala one, but I mean, sure. Why not? If people keep complaining it's a Splatoon clone, well, let's make it less Splatoon then.
01:05:16
Speaker
I guess yeah we then got an announcement that there's a DK challenge event going on from June 9th to September 1st. You could earn digital challenge cards basically by going into your Nintendo switch online section. You can take part in multiple challenges to earn collectible cards and you have a DK bonanza.
01:05:38
Speaker
ah And the DLC, you can ah take part in challenges for that game as well. And also Bonanza is getting new outfits for the DLC. I do Mario and and their timed releases where you can get them in four different waves later this year.
01:05:59
Speaker
Pauline's Luigi outfit is so cute. She's so cute in it. I want it. Then in the world of vampire survivors, the creator of vampire survivors just said, Hey, or was a bar approached by the, ah the studio behind the anime.
01:06:17
Speaker
And I was like, well, sure. Jujutsu Kaisen rumble. Survivaton is vampire survivors, but Jujutsu Kaisen and a battle Royale all in one.
01:06:28
Speaker
it makes me go what the fuck what basically basically it's a you and like however many people you go up against are in your own world ah beating enemies getting your skills and whatnot if you die you're out and then the top two go head to head in like fighting each other with whatever skills you got it comes out later this year there are gonna be 20 JJK characters to pick from good luck I guess
01:07:01
Speaker
Lords of the Fallen 2 releases later in the fall for Switch 2. Lies of P Complete Edition comes out August 6th digitally for Switch 2 and August 2nd physically. Yeah! Speaker

01:07:53
Speaker
And Xenoblade 3 releases both digitally and physically on December 3rd for Switch 2 versions. if that's if Now, if they type this and it's like, oh yeah, it should take them about this long to finish each game, that's kind of crazy.
01:08:07
Speaker
m yeah And then as they were eating good, Xenoblade Genesis was announced coming out in 2027. And this might be the Xenoblade game that combines some Xenogear stuff and Xenoblade stuff.
01:08:20
Speaker
Who knows? I'm just going to say, I have a friend who's super into Xenoblade and he was just like, yeah, Xenoblade trilogy on Switch 2. Let's go. Xenoblade Genesis. Oh my God. It's just freaking out while we were watching. Yeah.
01:08:35
Speaker
Then we're returning to one of... as you grew up on a Wii, we're returning to your favorite childhood island. Woohoo Island is back because we are getting Nintendo Switch Sports Resort 12 sports on the island once again.
01:08:51
Speaker
God, I'm excited. i'm I'm glad we get to be back on on ah Woohoo Island. i just... One thing I wish they didn't do is give us like a solid a minute and 50 seconds of giant thumb gameplay. Yeah, that was ah they could have done anything else. ah Your song sports pick from ah boxing, table tennis, archery, tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, skateboarding, power cruising, prop plane,
01:09:24

01:10:19
Speaker
And it's race. And the game is brave XVS. This is the brave XVS storyline Not in the mobile game, ah which is huge. that's cool.
01:10:32
Speaker
I like that. Because, honestly, you can't play Brave XDS anymore ah because it shut down. um And it looks great. Comes out October 22nd. I am very much looking forward to when this comes out. However, i will be playing it for like a year or so because I'm stuck in my Final Fantasy marathon. And this guy and I have like 20 other games to play before I play that one.
01:10:54
Speaker
Piku Niku 2 coming out 2027 was announced. I'm excited for that one. Dragon Quest Monsters The Withered World coming out December 3rd. The Duskbloods then appeared for like 30 seconds just to tell us that there's a closed network test coming this summer.
01:11:13
Speaker
Splatoon Raiders. They got another trailer. ah We got the name of our character there, the mechanic. ah yeah You do a treasure hunt across the Spiralite Islands.
01:11:24
Speaker
You got gadget support items. There's going to specifically Splatoon Raiders Direct on June 30th and also new Joy-Con controllers as well, at least with the game. I'm excited for Raiders. I'm excited for Raiders so much. I'm not like I love Splatoon. I'm very bad at it, but I love Splatoon so much. And having like a single player focused game feels very refreshing. I like that a lot.
01:11:46
Speaker
Then Deltarune Chapter 5 was announced and with the release date of June 24th. Deltarune! Woohoo! And then Atlas can't stop winning. Metaphor Re-Vantasio is going Switch 2 released on November 12th.
01:12:04
Speaker
that's wood Would recommend. It is one of the best RPGs I have ever played. Absolutely would recommend it. Noted. ah Minecraft is coming to Switch 2 finally. Oh my god, what?
01:12:20
Speaker
You can carry over your Switch 1 worlds into the game and it's coming out later later this year. Then we got our rapid fire games that were shown off at the end. Some of these games in the Japan Direct actually got more of a showcase, but we got Atelier Catra, the Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories coming out early 2027. Space Marine 2 coming out holiday 2026.
01:12:42
Speaker
Observer System Redux coming out is out now. Day Z coming out later 2026 Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2 August 27th Rise of the Tomb Raider is out now Tales of Eternia remastered October 16th SnowRunner out now Fitness Boxing 3 July 16th Everbloom Spring 2027 and Final Fantasy 14 August 2026 is when the open network tests start all of those are Switch 2 releases it's cool that Final Fantasy 14 is coming to the Switch 2 I like that
01:13:14
Speaker
Do you play FF14 at all? No, I just have friends that play it a lot. um I just think it's cool that it's coming to the Switch 2. Well, hey, ah have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and it's a free trial that features The award-winning Heavensward expansion, the award-nominated Stormblood expansion, and the award-winning Shadowbringers expansion, all the way up to level 80 with no restrictions on playtime is available now.
01:13:46
Speaker
Sign up now and join Eorzea Yes, I have. Many times. ah it's not I'm not into MMOs. I mean, maybe I'd be into Final Fantasy XIV, but and ah I don't want to lose too much time.
01:14:04
Speaker
That's fair. ah Then... to start closing things down. Kingdom Hearts, the collections are getting switched to versions 1.5 to plus 2.5, 2.8 and three plus rebind.
01:14:17
Speaker
I'll get their switch to versions on October 8th. ah No longer cloud versions. um Now this does mean, however, that the cloud versions on the switch are no longer p playable. Once these come out, um those are no longer going to be playable.
01:14:31
Speaker
It's so dumb. I mean, they weren't they weren't playable to begin with because they were so laggy, but like. But so and also there's going new collection featuring all just all the games for the 10 main games. They're going to have a basically ah it's a one through three collection that you can get. So that way, the only game you what you have to buy separately is Melody of Memory.
01:14:53
Speaker
That's cool. And then we got Kingdom Hearts 4.
01:15:00
Speaker
that's It's so insane that Kingdom Hearts 4 was at the Nintendo Direct. Again, I would think it would be on PlayStation. That's crazy. We got some new gameplay. I do look at gameplay. It's going to be on Switch the switch to Switch 2 at launch.
01:15:13
Speaker
We got looks at some of the characters. And if you guess what? If you haven't played Union Cross or Dark Road, you're fucked.
01:15:22
Speaker
So I'm really hoping that we get like a console version of dark road and like another, like cut scene movie with like all the important bits from union cross. That wasn't a back cover because God, people are going to need that. If it's kingdom hearts, people need that. So please give that give us that.
01:15:47
Speaker
ah And, ah don't make me play the mobile version of it please just give us like a console version you'll make money still you'll make money tomorrow so just you'll make so much money please ah and then they ended the show with the biggest reveal that they could people who grew up in the screamed joy
01:16:16
Speaker
grieved in joy yeah As they have officially announced the Legend Zelda Ocarina of Time remake coming out later this year, 2026, as it switched to exclusive.
01:16:27
Speaker
Now, the theory of the release date of this game m is the same release date as Grand Theft Auto 6 that the original one came out, which is November 21st, 1998. So people are believing that the game will come out November 21st, 2026. Mm
01:16:48
Speaker
That's which I don't get ahead. November 21st is a Saturday. So actually it won't come out on a Saturday. It will come out on the Thursday, which is November 19th.
01:17:00
Speaker
The same day. Grand Theft Auto five releases. say and let's auto say Yeah, I know it's it's weird for me to say, too.
01:17:11
Speaker
i I'm wondering what the overlap is of people who played Ocarina of Time and people who are excited for Grand Theft Auto 6. It's probably a decent amount.
01:17:23
Speaker
I mean, just save up $200 and long you're not. you're Switch 2 users, just save up $200 instead and buy both.
01:17:34
Speaker
ah to be fair To be fair, this dilemma only happens to people who have both a Switch 2 and an Xbox and or PlayStation. because it's true only this is This dilemma is only for console players.
01:17:46
Speaker
Yep, yep. And it's only like because it's not coming to PC at at least for like another like six months, probably. ah or a year. Or a year. I actually double check what the gap was between the GTA V's console and ah it It was at the very least six months I know that It was at the very least six months um But yeah Okay so GTA 5 released On the 360 and PS3 September 17th 2013 Then it got released on the Playstation 4 And Xbox One November 2014 And then on PC April
01:18:25
Speaker
Oh, two years. Two years. I don't think Grand Theft Auto 6 is. So if Grand Theft Auto 6 follows that pattern, GTA 6 is not winning game of the year next year. sorry I'm sorry. I'm sorry. it's gonna You're giving it a whole year to simmer like that? no um Nah. Nah, nah.
01:18:45
Speaker
Delay the game, Rockstar. Delay the game. I'm sorry. Delay delay your game. Zelda is obviously bigger than Grand Theft Auto. Delay your game. I i disagree. I think they're both huge. No, they are both huge in their own rights. like It's just, I think the real question is, does Rockstar fear Nintendo?
01:19:09
Speaker
oh Oh, actually, no. You know what? I know how Rockstar can combat this. They released Grand Theft Auto 5 on the Switch 2 on that day as well. yeah That'd be so funny.
01:19:21
Speaker
ah But yeah, it's going to be because if Ocarina of Time Remake comes out in November or December, um then it's going to be a very fierce competition for what game of the year 2027 is going to be.
01:19:36
Speaker
Yeah. Between. Yeah. Because like Ocarina of time is such an, is such an important game to history and the remaking it. And then also Grand Theft Auto six after what, like 15 years, thirty sorry, 13 years after the previous one came out. Like it's one of the most anticipated games of all time. 13 year gaps as we first saw GTA five.
01:19:58
Speaker
Yes. It only took us that long because, you know, I mean, to be fair, Red Dead 2 did come out in between that. So was yeah there was a game that they did not just their multiplayer for GTA 5. Mm-hmm.
01:20:11
Speaker
Mm-hmm. But yeah, that's ah honestly, that was some pretty insane direct in my opinion. It was. ah They ended with some words from the new Nintendo of America president, Devin Pritchard.
01:20:23
Speaker
um And then they wrapped up the show. Now, if you were watching the Japan direct, there were some games that were not shown in the America direct. And I grabbed ah what those games were.
01:20:34
Speaker
ah First, if you're a fan of Ubumusume and horses, then you're going to love this one. It's real horse racing. oh my God. It's Derby Stallion 2. That comes out September 24th. Don't know if it's a Japan exclusive or not.
01:20:48
Speaker
ah Earth Defense Force 5 and 6 are both getting Switch 2 versions as well. They're coming out October 8th. At least defense Earth Defense Force 5 is. Earth Defense Force 6 is either on the same day or it'll be a later date for that one.
01:21:02
Speaker
And then Toho, the embodiment of Scarlet Devil, is getting... ah According to my friend TC, who plays all the Tohos, because the original game is like... Well, game files were lost. This is, a so in a sense, a remake.
01:21:17
Speaker
ah But it's like it's basically just the same game just like they had to redo the entire code. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That comes out September 10th for both Switch and Switch 2. Whether or not it'll actually have an American release, don't know.
01:21:31
Speaker
That's cool. ah So that's that's everything now. ah Overall, this was one of the best summer game fest in history. um Arguably, people will say this is probably the best one since it started when E3 died. It started with what? Sorry.
01:21:49
Speaker
When e three died. Oh, yeah.
Summer Game Fest Review and Speculations
01:21:52
Speaker
When, you know, COVID killed E3. And then Jeff Keighley said, no, I will save it by making the game awards, but summer version.
01:22:04
Speaker
and then that died yeah honestly one of the best summer game fests uh of all time how would you fully rank summer game fest 2026 void so i wasn't i i slept through the xbox one unfortunately i only got to hear the stuff after the fact um playstation I'd give it i'd I'd give PlayStation like a seven out of ten.
01:22:30
Speaker
Personally, Xbox eight out of ten. Definitely. ah Nintendo, yeah, ah same. I'd give it an 8 out of 10 as well. Some of my friends were like, man, this direct was like there was nothing in this direction. I'm like, man, there is Deltarune Chapter 5, Metaphorry Fantasio, Splatoon Raiders, Pikuniku 2, Ocarina of Time remake, Kingdom Hearts 4. Like, this is a big direct.
01:22:58
Speaker
um ah So, yeah, I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Summer Game Fest. I don't know. i feel I feel like overall I'd give each one probably like a solid 8 out of 10 because I always like seeing new games, right? Even if I'm not super interested in a series, I'm like, oh, cool. This series got a new entry or oh, cool. There's a new IP and it looks interesting.
01:23:23
Speaker
um But yeah, i'd I'd give them all like eight out of ten, except for PlayStation. i PlayStation, I'd give it a sound out seven out of ten because... yeah Yeah, I agree with your rankings. PlayStation for me is a six or a seven.
01:23:37
Speaker
Insert funny joke there. um And then everything else to me is about an eight or a nine. ah Because it was it was it was really well done this year. a lot of really big, heavy heavy name hitters were announced.
01:23:52
Speaker
and yeah it was it was good show it was a good time overall another question is can the game awards top it I don't think so I don't think the game awards really ever tops any unless they have like a massive reveal at the game awards I don't think it could top it okay here's a question what massive reveal would they have to show to top this probably either Devil May Cry 6 would be insane to see um
01:24:22
Speaker
Or trying to think, I mean, a a so a sea of sorrow, silksong gameplay reveal would insane. I'm trying to think what else.
01:24:36
Speaker
ah Oh, Bloodborne remaster, Bloodborne remake. They would have to show that at the game awards. in order for match. You what? All those are pretty valid choices, honestly.
01:24:47
Speaker
Yeah. i I just need to see, like, these huge, huge, like, people have been wanting these forever type of games. Beyond Good and Evil 2 release date with gameplay trailer. Yeah. That's never going to happen. It's somehow still alive after all the shit Ubisoft's been doing.
01:25:05
Speaker
You know what? and You know what? ah You know what else needs to be revealed at the Game at the game Awards? Elder Scrolls six gameplay and a release date. Oh, I don't think I don't think we're good. We're not seeing that. god were Like, look, ah everything else. You know what? There's a there's a chance that no Elder Scrolls six. No, never. We're seeing that. I think Todd Howard said they only like just started like development this year.
01:25:32
Speaker
hmm. And but which is insane because it was announced like, what, five years ago? Longer than that. Hold on. I'm going to look that I think it was like maybe two or three. Looking it up.
01:25:45
Speaker
It hasn't been that long since we've known about Elder Scrolls 6.
01:25:50
Speaker
ah Eight years ago. yeah What? The game was entered... The game entered pre-production by 2018, being formally announced during Bethesda's E3 2018 conference.
01:26:03
Speaker
so yeah it's been a while wow it has holy shit but the game and the game's never coming out i thought it was wow i i misjudged when that came out holy fuck i look to be fair uh 2020 to 2022 is just a weird nebulous space in time that we can't exactly pinpoint where it was so true You what? True. Okay.
01:26:31
Speaker
Yeah, it makes sense. Makes sense. I mean, okay. Actually, if it's been that long, there actually might be a chance then. I'll hold on. I take back what I said. There might be a chance. Maybe.
01:26:41
Speaker
Maybe. I remain cautiously optimistic. Yeah.
01:26:49
Speaker
Hey! Yeah, you! You've been gaming for six hours straight with no hydration station. You're starting to look like a ghoul from Fallout 4. Go drink some water.
01:27:01
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. That's the whole message. Drink water, you gremlin.
01:27:07
Speaker
All right. ah Well, with that, it's time for us to now dive into our second ah topic of the day, ah which we're talking about a little, a nice little thing. It's about ah picking your favorite games and what it means to be your own critic with games.
01:27:21
Speaker
Mm hmm. Uh, So even though we asked you at the top void, so what i what are your favorite games of all time? Like, or like of specific series, old, new games, like what are like your all time favorites for you? So my all time favorite for the, for a long time, ah breath of the wild was my favorite game of all time.
01:27:43
Speaker
Um, breath of the wild and tears is the kingdom as a duology. Cause like, dude, like I've said this before on my own stream, but like, I think that, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are best enjoyed together.
01:27:57
Speaker
Like the existence of Breath of the Wild makes Tears of the Kingdom better. And the existence of Tears of the Kingdom makes Breath of the Wild better, in my opinion. um So they were my favorite ah duology of games for a long time ah before I played Lies of P and Lies of P completely superseded them.
01:28:15
Speaker
um I mean, they're still like up there as like my second favorite, like both of them together. Yeah. Yeah. And then like right below that is the Hollow Knight duology. Hollow Knight 1 and Silksong are also up there. Some of my favorites.
01:28:31
Speaker
Um... Undertale is like one of the games that has had such a major impact on me. um I, I frigging love that game. um Shovel Knight.
01:28:43
Speaker
I adore Shovel Knight. A lot of indie games, honestly, not I'm thinking about. A lot of indie games are up there. um Oh yeah. My first game ever played is up there as one of my favorites. Ratchet and Clank on the original PS2. Yes. That my first game I ever played.
01:29:01
Speaker
And yeah, I think that I like Ratchet and Clank 2 better than the than the original. But again, like they're just so Ratchet and Clank 1 has a super special place in my heart, but I just enjoy the gameplay of 2 so much more.
01:29:16
Speaker
um But yeah, those are some of my favorites. ah My favorite Zelda game. So I actually messaged ah you about this. I think I did anyway. um I love Wind Waker as a Zelda game more than I enjoy Breath of the Wild as a Zelda game, which is like ah some people are looking at their screen like, what are you talking about?
01:29:44
Speaker
But i'm a I don't know. Just for me, I think that Wind Waker embodies what it like what a Zelda game is better than what Breath of the Wild ah is as a Zelda game. um Like the puzzles, the dungeons, the items, the story, the characters. I think Wind Waker has much more of a Zelda vibe than Breath of the Wild does. Breath of the Wild, in my opinion, is a better game, but it's not a better Zelda game.
01:30:15
Speaker
that makes any type of sense. I get what you're saying. Yes. yeah Yes, absolutely. so I'm taking a sip of water. But yeah, those are some of my favorite games.
01:30:28
Speaker
I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head. um Oh yeah, Minecraft. I love Minecraft, but you know, everyone loves Minecraft. Everyone likes Minecraft for two weeks.
01:30:42
Speaker
Yes, exactly. Two weeks out of the year and then just nope. And then you go back for two weeks and then nope, it's gone. yeahs That's how it works now. That's ah that's how it works. um unless you're Unless you monetize content for it. Yes. In which case you either fall into the you're stuck playing this for the rest of your life or you touch kids.
01:31:03
Speaker
ah Yeah, which is it sucks that those are the two career paths you have before you. If you become a Minecraft YouTuber. Yep. yeah Unfortunately, unfortunately. Yeah.
Favorite Games and Influences
01:31:18
Speaker
For me, some of my favorite games, one that I will always love is SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom. Yeah, my man. One of the best platformers of that era, oddly enough. And just like it's one of it's like the game that like gets you into like that, like a genre.
01:31:40
Speaker
Yes, I compare a lot of platforms to that game, which is wild to say. It's not that wild to say. It's a very like tightly made game. The mechanics are very um ah like easy to understand, and the levels are the levels are fun. oh Yeah, they absolutely are. I'm excited. I don't know if you i don't know if you know about it, but there's um a big mod that's being worked on ah called Battle for Bikini Bottom Deluxe.
01:32:12
Speaker
Oh. And it's but it basically adds an additional 100 spatulas. Oh, God. ah And it's like additional spatulas are added to each world and like more socks and whatnot as well. And they've also they if included a whole new world as well ah with the mod where you go to outer space.
01:32:36
Speaker
oh Oh, that's awesome. Is this for like the original or is this for the rehydrated? If you know how to, like if you have your own copy and youre you ah burn the ROM onto your computer, then you just add it to that.
01:32:54
Speaker
but like completely legally legally legally obtained wrong play it and the yeah you put it in the dolphin emulator uh and uh it is basically if you ever if you know the super mario eclipse mod or the pokemon xg mod this is like that for this where just extended improved upon And that's cool. That's really cool. It's very exciting. They're working on like getting like all the new dialogue options voiced as well.
01:33:26
Speaker
Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, it's like, wow, I'm just going wait for this whole thing, like project to be done before I play it. Because like you can play it now. It's not like it's most of it's done. But like I want to wait. I want to wait till it's like fully done before I actually. I'm definitely putting that on my radar. Yeah. Holy crap. That sounds really cool.
01:33:43
Speaker
yeah um like that's ah but yeah battle for me one of my favorite games of all time ah recent years obvious Claire Obscure is such a fantastic I ah have yet to play it I have my friend got it for me on steam and I have yet to play it is such such a good time ah they've told me that like because I like Lies of P and how French it is like they I'll also enjoy Claire Obscure yeah it is very french it's so french we we bug it um yeah yeah i try to uh i love the the remedy verse uh alan way can control yeah a lot of friends are into that too yeah uh final fantasy 14 i have oh it's the game i have the most amount of hours in of all time
01:34:35
Speaker
Considering you had a sales pitch prepped as soon as I started mentioning Final Fantasy 14, I can see why you like it so much. I mean, here's the thing. I was i was very anti-MMO for a long time.
01:34:48
Speaker
And then I had a sub goal. I'm like, you know what? If we hit this amount of subs, I'll play it. I'll play the free trial. Finally, I'll play it. ah And then my one mod is like, okay, bet.
01:35:01
Speaker
And I'm like, wait, what do you mean? Okay, bet. Don't be irresponsible with your, oh, he was irresponsible with his money. his money. I'm not saying this was like a cheap sub goal either. This was like a, like plus 100 sub goal. Oh Jesus.
01:35:17
Speaker
And is now granted it wasn't just him. There was another person who was also irresponsible with their money they fucking rattled off each other. I love that.
01:35:29
Speaker
ah And so I played it. I'm like, oh, this is actually kind of fun. Oh, this is going to be my life now, isn't it? This is my new personality. It's Final Fantasy for a year. It was for a year. It was.
01:35:43
Speaker
I love that. But yeah, yeah i like for me, like RPGs are like a big thing for me. Like I really evolved from like a playing like a lot of shooters to third person action games.
01:35:56
Speaker
And while I still do play like a lot of third person action games, I don't play as many shooters anymore. Like the last time I like promptly play like a proper shooter aside from this year because I've been playing Halo Infinite again recently.
01:36:11
Speaker
ah The multiplayer, not the campaign because I haven't played the campaign. Good Lord. um I mean, I haven't played it. I want to give it a fair shot eventually. Yeah. Yeah. I have to play Halo 5 first.
01:36:22
Speaker
Obviously. God, Halo 5. which is a hard game to play because it's like oldie on Xbox still. Yeah. And also it was, it ruined a lot of the characters, but you know, that's fine. You know, you know, just let hit three, the studio formerly known as C for three industries do their thing.
01:36:42
Speaker
The studio formerly known as three, four, three, four, three anymore. They're known as studios now. ah No, i I love that. I love that as a joke. say Because i say that I say that all the time about Twitter. I say the platform formerly known as Twitter. I mean, legit. i So I work in news. That is legit what we say all the time. It's like formerly known as Twitter.
01:37:06
Speaker
That's hilarious. I love knowing that. Yeah. but But yeah, I went from playing a lot of shooters to a third person action games to now playing a lot of like third person action games, but like a lot more RPGs. Like I play so many goddamn RPGs now. It's kind of nuts.
01:37:26
Speaker
I have found myself in this world. m i have so many RPGs on my to play list and I'm just worried because it's going to take me so long to get through them. Which ones do you have? Because I'll tell you whether or not you should play them or not.
01:37:40
Speaker
Well, ah there's Final Fantasy X and X2. Oh, yeah. those Those are considered. I haven't gotten there yet. I'm only on FF5 in my marathon. And I still have how many games in between that? Hold on. I can tell you how many games between five and ten I have to play first.
01:38:01
Speaker
ah there's Final Fantasy 6 7, Crisis Core 7 Dirge of Cerberus 7 8 and okay actually not that bad and it's not that bad yeah um but also Final Fantasy 7 is on my radar as well or is on my to play list I can actually just go through can just go through my so my Steam library and tell you what RPGs I have left to play um ah that did to to Lords of the Fallen. i think that counts as an RPG, right? I mean, it has RPG elements, so I believe it falls yeah into that. I've never played the Lords of the Fallen, so can't say much about that one.
01:38:43
Speaker
Tunic. duy That is a must play. That is one of the best goddamn games ever created. i've I've played it for like a few hours and it is very fun.
01:38:54
Speaker
I just have to continue where I left off. It one of the best games ever created. Does Bioshock count as a as an RPG?
01:39:05
Speaker
think it does. It elements of it. I consider it more of just like a first-person shooter, though, because the only elements are like you up like deciding what you upgrade.
01:39:18
Speaker
ah well obviously Claire Obscure um oh yeah the um ah the Fallout games um Delta Rune what else what else what else what else oh yeah there's Final Fantasy um just so many i like there's so many does Half-Life count as an RPG?
01:39:42
Speaker
I was in the similar category as Bioshock. I wouldn't classify. Honestly, i would just, I'm going to controversial take the first half life is ass.
01:39:53
Speaker
The first half life is so bad. I don't. Yeah. i don't and don't like I don't like the first Half-Life. I mean, i i want to play it just to say that I have played it. Well, more than that, but just to be like... Because it's one of the most iconic video games ever made, right? Yeah.
01:40:14
Speaker
So I just want to be... i Like, my friend ah Axiom the Space Dragon, he... he He's told me that like You want a history lesson Not necessarily a good game And I was like yes I agree with that If you want a history lesson Absolutely play it like I played all the Half-Lives I played Half-Life It's three it's two Expansions or whatever played Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode 1 and 2 Half-Life 2 is much better Um
01:40:46
Speaker
i like two is much better um in my In my opinion. um yeah But the first the first Half-Life is very rough. It's very, very rough.
01:40:58
Speaker
I'll take that into consideration when I start playing it. um Oh, yeah. And also... ah ah um God, I lost the name of it. ah Fire Emblem.
01:41:12
Speaker
I got to play some of the old Fire Emblem games as well. Just so many RPGs. If you're... With Fire Emblem, I always say start with Awakening. ah Starting with Awakening is like a good place to start with Fire Emblem. Only because it's the first game that introduced the ability to decide a difficulty of whether you play of whether or not you want permadeath or not.
01:41:35
Speaker
Otherwise, everything before it has it automatically. And it's like, if you don't want anyone to die, you want to have that perfect run, you're going to be safe scrubbing a lot. Hmm.
01:41:47
Speaker
Yeah, i'll probably I'll probably start with Awakening then and and have that slider on the super baby mode. Yeah. Yeah, start with Awakening and then go from there to everything past it because you have that option.
01:42:01
Speaker
I played like the original fire, of sorry, not original Fire Emblem, but the original Fire Emblem in the States, which is Binding Blade, I think. that's That's the one with Roy, isn't it?
01:42:14
Speaker
The one with lid The one with Roy came after, which was Blazing Blade or I'm fixing them up. I can never. One's Binding Blade. One's Blazing Blade. I just never remember which is first. But well i just was first I just remember which name is first.
01:42:29
Speaker
I just know that um they put Roy and Smash to promote ah so we're voting yeah the Fire Emblem in the States. Yeah. So. yeah Yeah. That was why Martha and Roy were there, which is crazy that that's a trend that never ended for Smash. Yeah.
01:42:45
Speaker
They kept putting new Fire Emblem characters in their games like in Smash to promote the new Fire Emblem games. I mean, it it it made sense. Ike had two games at the time verb for Brawl.
01:42:58
Speaker
ah And then, you know, by the time Smash 4 came out, it was out of control. yeah Like it was Lucina and ah Robin, Robin and for lu and Robin, then also Corrin.
01:43:12
Speaker
And then Corrin for face. And then. Byleth for three houses. vilith For three houses. Yeah. And then they also added Krom, but like his game had already come out.
01:43:27
Speaker
um You're back. You're finally here. You're not just a me anymore. Hooray. yeah The Mii outfit is still in the game, though. yeah Yeah. All right. ah Okay, back to the big conversation at hand. So what does having a favorite game mean to you?
01:43:45
Speaker
Hmm. What does it mean to have a favorite game? What does it mean to have a favorite game? i think, for me, having a favorite game is like, it's a game that you can always go back to reliably and still have a good time with it, no matter how many times you've played it.
01:44:02
Speaker
Um... And like, ah it's a game that, uh, it, it means more to you than just the entertainment value you get from playing, from, from playing it, you know, like with Lies of P it the, the emotions I felt while playing it and, ah the story had such an incredible impact on me.
01:44:28
Speaker
um, And like, just, I think having those is what makes your favorite game, your favorite game, right? I mean, at least for me.
01:44:40
Speaker
ah there's There's also gameplay. i haven't really talked about gameplay with Lies of P much, but i'm ah ah fun fact, Lies of P was actually my first ever Souls-like that I ever played. um i've I've known of, like I've seen people play Bloodborne and Dark Souls and Elden Ring and all that beforehand, but um ah i my first one that I ever played was ah Lies of P and it was such a tremendous introduction because like the combat is so fluid the way that you can customize your weapons is very like freeing and
01:45:15
Speaker
um and i just i just I really love freedom of expression in games um where like like there's this like like emergent gameplay, right? Where you can't you're allowed to experiment and um like beat a specific portion of a game in a way that like the devs might not have intended.
01:45:39
Speaker
um Which is why Breath of the Wild is still up there as one of my favorites, because there are so many solutions, so many puzzles that I'm like, there's no way the devs intended that. um And with Lies of P, it's like you you are the emerging gameplay and that is creating a very powerful weapon combination that are like a very powerful build that the devs might not have intended um or just like experiencing the the the world in a way that um Might not have been intended. Like you, you're going around finding all the secrets before, like you even know that the secrets are there.
01:46:12
Speaker
Right. Something, something along those lines. um But that like things like that help me decide what my favorite games are like, you know, atmosphere, characters, gameplay, story, things like that.
01:46:26
Speaker
nice yeah i have a lot to talk about no no i i definitely agree like it's like having a favorite game it's like so easy to return to like so much like for a long time got back to battle for bikini bottom i played that once a year every year for a good couple of years just because it's like i want to feel something again bad yeah because it's hard for me to like Unless I'm like going back to a game to like platinum it or something. I don't return to my old games very often.
01:46:58
Speaker
Like it's very rare that I do. ah Like looking at the games that I've played this year, ah a lot i should i actually look how many did I go back to that? I actually like what like went back to to play because I wanted to play it and not because It's just like, oh, yeah, I got platinum it or finish it or I started it last year, technically. And so it might be that. Tunic was one because, again, it such a fantastic game.
01:47:30
Speaker
ah The Spudgeon Squarepants movie game. I went back to that one for fun. I've heard that one's good. Yeah, because it was the same team that made Battle for Bikini Bottom. I made that one, isn't it? Yeah. Yes, it was.
01:47:42
Speaker
That's why good. And Mario Galaxy as well. That was the other one. Mario Galaxy. i love that game. Now i' granted, Mario Galaxy, I got off. It's the Switch version of it. So like, it was just like, oh, you know what? It's a good way a reason for me to play it again because like i I need something to play all my spare time when I'm doing nothing at work. laboum ah So it's ah it was a good time. It was like, man, i forgot how good this game was.
01:48:11
Speaker
it's It is such an amazing game. It's such a timeless game for me as well. ah So now having those favorites, when you judge, like when you judge game or like when you buy a new game, ah do having those games that you've played before, how do they go into like picking new games to play?
01:48:29
Speaker
Hmm. I mean, definitely, like like I said, story is a big aspect when I'm playing a new game. Just like, how can I experience the story? And or like what is the story?
01:48:42
Speaker
um And, you know, I love Elden Ring, Lies of P, Bloodborne, like all these Souls likes. They tend to tell their stories in kind of like... obtuse ways. Uh, definitely with, uh, Dark Souls and Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Um, also with Hollow Knight and Silksong a bit.
01:49:02
Speaker
Uh, so like being able to explore and then find parts of the story as well is very, um, very important to me. I love exploration in games.
01:49:13
Speaker
Um, and being able to like find secrets or find, uh, little hidden areas. yeah,
01:49:24
Speaker
I'm trying to think. Oh yeah. Gameplay. ah Gameplay is huge for me. Having a nice combat system is very important. um And like how the flow, if it's not necessarily a combat game and like that's different, but if it's a, if it's a game about, like if you, if you're fighting things in that game, being able to express, to express yourself in combat in different ways is very important to me.
01:49:47
Speaker
ah Having it feel fluid and, you know, not super strict helps a lot. um Like, Oh, you swing your sword. So then this is the animation of you swinging your sword. It's like, well, you can swing your sword, but then you can also like cancel it into a block or a parry or something like that.
01:50:07
Speaker
Uh, what else? What else? What else? I mean, i just, how fun it is, like how, how much fun I'm having. Um, like I, I get that fun is subjective. Um, like what I find fun, someone else might not find fun.
01:50:22
Speaker
Um, I love explore. Like I said, I love exploring, uh, different areas and being immersed in a world, uh, is, is very enjoyable to me.
01:50:34
Speaker
um, there's And there's also like a sense of scale that I enjoy in games as well. Like ah seeing how huge the world is compared to how small you are and like being able to see out over this vast area that you can explore, um like in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom.
01:50:54
Speaker
um I enjoy that a lot. Yeah. I can't really think of anything else. you You need to stop me from time to time because I'm going to end up just rambling and ruining the whole show. No, it's great. I i love it because, ah like again, this whole show is not seeing ah like people's ah various people's perspectives and whatnot like in the gaming world. And that's why I like it, doing this things but this podcast so much.
01:51:20
Speaker
um When it comes to like nostalgia for the older games, how much of that... like oop Sorry. would it cut like With nostalgia, how much of that do you feel like blinds us to from from seeing like how like from judging those old games subjectively?
01:51:41
Speaker
um I mean, i won't I won't lie. I've definitely been blinded by nostalgia more than once um ah by um ah by just ignoring the flaws, but like the the valid criticisms of like certain people. Yeah.
01:52:00
Speaker
Like, for example, in Ratchet and Clank 1, you can't strafe when you're firing your weapon. So you can't like move side to side and fire straight. You can only like fire where you're it's like tank controls almost. um And um controls would a would wait.
01:52:17
Speaker
But it take controls allow strafing, though. Oh, no, sorry. It's not tank controls. It's yeah like yeah where like you have to move Ratchet in the ah direction that you want to face and then fire.
01:52:30
Speaker
Like you can't just like lock his position in one axis and then just move that way. but Yeah, gotcha. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For a long time, I was just like, well, just get good.
01:52:43
Speaker
Just play the game better. Just get good. Yeah, he really is a false gamer. Yeah, yeah exactly. um Because like it was a game that I played as a kid and I got used to how that game controlled.
01:52:57
Speaker
And I was just like blinded by nostalgia. Like, no, the game's great. they'd snow There's no criticisms towards it. Yeah. Now that I'm older, I'm starting to like not take nostalgia too much into account.
01:53:12
Speaker
ah I'm noticing that like like as i was growing up, people would say, oh, Ocarina is like the best Zelda game of all time. And I'm like, I haven't even played it. Wind Waker is right here. And Wind Waker is fantastic. How could a game ever be better than Wind Waker?
01:53:28
Speaker
um and I'm realizing that it's because that's the game that people played as a kid, and that's why I like it so much. um Also, like... one One series that comes to mind when nostalgia comes when when when nostalgia is being discussed is Mario Kart. It's like, well, what's your favorite Mario Kart? Oh, mine is Mario Kart Wii. Which Mario Kart did you play as a kid? Mario Kart Wii.
01:53:52
Speaker
Funny how that works. Yeah. Right? like Or I have a friend whose favorite Mario Kart is Mario Kart Double Dash, and they played Double Dash as a kid. Double Dash is great, but Wii has but so much more in it. is i I am of the opinion that Double Dash ah double dash is good. like there's no The only bad game in the Mario Kart series is the first one. That's the only bad game in the Mario Kart series. Oh, Super Mario Kart. Yes. And it's because it's a sprite-based game on the Super Nintendo. Yeah.
01:54:26
Speaker
um Sprite based racing game on the Super Nintendo. But anyway, um like I can see like Double Dash has a lot of positive aspects, but I'm not a fan of the drifting system in Double Dash. right like It just feels a little too loose.
01:54:42
Speaker
When I tell that to my friend who grew up with Double Dash, they're like, what are you talking about? It's too loose. like the the Mario Kart Wii's drifting is way looser, and I'm like, no, it's not. And I play Wii, and it's like not loose at all. When I play Double Dash, because I'm not used to Double Dash, because I don't have that nostalgia of...
01:54:59
Speaker
growing up with this game and, you know, learning how to play it for years. I'm like, I have no clue how to do this. um Or with Ocarina of Time, me playing it for the first time on stream. ah Like I have, like there'd be someone in my chat just like, man, he doesn't know where to go for this. Like this game's been out for what? 30 years. i'm like okay, but this is my first time playing Like, you you know where everything is because you've played it so many times. But, like, i my first time playing it, I have no clue where anything is.
01:55:34
Speaker
So I feel like that that sense of nostalgia of, like, games being easier because we've played it so many times in the back of our heads, like, even subconsciously, i think that plays a big role in games.
01:55:47
Speaker
in how we view older games um or even like newer games if you play them a lot and i think without that when we play these older games we don't because we don't have that childhood memory or that that feeling of oh loved it why we love that game so much when we go back to play older games that we never played before hence my experience with uh ah Half-Life it's like we're so much more objective to it of like man this really is a ah piece of its time huh I had that same experience with ah specifically Mega Man 7 when I played that for the first time I got so angry because that it was designed like back in the 90s on the Super Nintendo
01:56:35
Speaker
games are designed to be like unbeatable over the course of a weekend because like it was something like where Nintendo had to deal with places like Blockbuster and video rental stores. um So they made their games harder on purpose so that they had to go rent the games again. Well, I mean, to be fair, the Mega Man games have always kind of been hard.
01:56:56
Speaker
Oh yeah. Always. They like even Mega Man 11, the most recent one is still very difficult. Yeah. um But like it it was it was egregious when I was playing it ah when I was playing seven and i'm ah I just got so frustrated. i was just like, man, I like why do they design it this way? Why do you why like have it be so that if you die, if you touch this one pixel of a spike, you die and get sent and get sent back to the beginning of the stage.
01:57:25
Speaker
But, you know, the other people who've played Mega Man 7 when they were a kid and they had all this extra time to so to put into playing it because like as an adult, I'm like, I don't have time for this. I have like other adult things to do. I have a job. when you're a kid it's just like well i'm just gonna spend all this time beating the stage um homework fuck no i'm gonna play video games dude i never did any of my homework and i got like i did all my homework at school and i did all my homework at school for for a reason of like well yep i'm gonna go play video games i barely passed my finals oh no dude i just did i Just to tell you this I was part of the last year that your finals were 50% of your final grade.
01:58:15
Speaker
Oh i was the last God. I was the last fucking year of that. Oh God. That's, I could never imagine that. Cause like my entire high school career was just like, you have to, but it's 30% for your final exam. Yeah, it is. It is now.
01:58:32
Speaker
Yeah, it is now. But I couldn't, I couldn't imagine doing that back in the day. i would have failed all of my classes. Look, I'm just glad that we're not like, ah that I'm not like part, a part of the part Canada that has a 13th grade.
01:58:46
Speaker
yeah oh well actually i uh that's a that's a topic for another day ah i don't want to get too off too off topic again fair uh last question i do have ah you presented this question to me i liked it a lot would you rather play a boring game or a bad game Yeah.
01:59:06
Speaker
So i i I've had this conversation before with people. And for me, it's very hard to tell the difference between a bad and a boring game. Because if a if i'm having if I'm bored out of my mind while playing a game, I'm like, man, I don't want to play this.
01:59:25
Speaker
But like with a bad game, it's also like I'm not going to get any further in the game because of how... ah because of how annoyed I am of at ah the lack of quality. um Like one game that comes to mind or a series of games really is the Zelda CDI games. Those are bad games, right?
01:59:48
Speaker
Um, ah but like from, from watching let's plays of it, specifically like the game grumps back in the day, um, i like they were funny bad, right? It was funny to watch someone go through this and yeah go through like this horrible mess of a game.
02:00:07
Speaker
Um, And like, I think that's it's different when you're a third party observer, because in this like watching a bad movie is better than watching a boring movie, because if it's a bad movie, like you can make fun of it along the way.
02:00:24
Speaker
But if you are playing the game and it's bad, then like you are like you're you're not a passive participant. You're now active in it.
02:00:34
Speaker
So you like the annoying mechanics and the frustrating level design comes back onto you and you feel frustrated and you feel bad um as opposed to boring where you're just like, well, I'm just walking through this hallway whatever.
Gaming Preferences and Streaming Choices
02:00:52
Speaker
I personally, I'd have to say I'd prefer. I mean, honestly, I'd prefer a good game over both options, but I mean, yes, yes. Obviously, yeah. Over both options, it depends on the context. If I'm playing it for myself, I would rather a boring game because then it's my own time that I'm wasting, right? And like I don't have to like try and put on a show or anything. If I am on stream or making content out of it, I'd prefer a bad game because then my suffering turns into comedy for the people watching.
02:01:32
Speaker
like It depends on the scenario that I'm in, if that makes any sense. because so I get that. For me, it will always be I take the bad game over the boring game. ah And I could give a recent example of this. Shadow Labyrinth of that Pac-Man Metroidvania.
02:01:48
Speaker
Boring as fuck. Holy shit. was excited it. I found it extremely boring. Sonic 06 bad game I played through that it beat it on the Xbox 360 I can't I couldn't i couldn't i couldn't suffer through Sonic 06 if I wasn't like making content around it I just couldn't ah so sorry for the background noise that's just a door closing all good ah'll good
02:02:20
Speaker
Yeah, no, I'd always take a bad game over a boring game because it's all is always, I find myself, the games that I find boring always end up on the bottom of my like year-end tier list for games I played.
02:02:32
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I can agree with that, yeah. i they it's all it's Again, for me, it depends on the context, but i could overall, I would choose bad over boring, yes.
02:02:45
Speaker
No, absolutely. All right. ah Is there anything else you want to add on this topic before we head into the bonus level? um I'm trying to think. ah I guess what would be the worst game you've ever played?
02:03:03
Speaker
Oh, wow. That's all. Fuck.
02:03:10
Speaker
Oh, that's a good question. What is the worst game I've ever played? i'm I really got to think about that. For me, it's probably. oh wait, I know the answer. I do know my answer. so Why am I even hesitating? It was Duke Nukem forever. It was Duke Nukem forever.
02:03:30
Speaker
Classic. have never put a game down faster than i did with that one holy these shit it was bad it was like really bad and i knew nothing about duke nukem like i obviously knew who he was and whatnot and knew the the the up court of opinion around that game i'm like it can't be that bad i played sonico six no it's bad bad i say I think the worst part is that it hides how bad it is from you because it's like you go into it and it's like, oh, I guess I could see it. And then it just goes into a full shit storm. And it's like, man, why couldn't you be in a shit storm from the beginning? So I didn't waste time.
02:04:10
Speaker
yeah Yeah. um For me, probably Sonic Boom. Oh, that's another good one. I never played Boob, thankfully. Don't. It's it's such a way. That's the big thing. is If it's a waste of time, bad game. That's what gets me the most. ah Because I was just recently on my friend's stream playing or he while he was playing Star Fox Adventures from the GameCube. And um ah yeah, no, that game is awful. That game is so it's because it's such a time waster.
02:04:41
Speaker
That's the that's the big thing for bad games for me. If it's a if it's a time waster of a bad game, then I'm like, yeah, why even bother? But anyway, I'm trying to look at my GameCube collection on my shelf, which is a whopping like 440 games.
02:04:58
Speaker
Wow, and hold on. Let me I'm pretty sure it's 400. Let me double check by my my checklist again, but I'm pretty sure it's 440 430. Sorry. Oh ah four thirty sorry ah 430. Still, that's a lot.
02:05:13
Speaker
I'm missing 124. Oh, you have like a full collection. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah I'm going, I'm master setting the GameCube. Yeah. Jeez. I'm looking at this and trying to think, man, are there any games here that I've played that were just like, but that fall into that category? And I'm trying to think, it's not really a game Pokemon channel, but it's not that's not really a game though. That's were just like, go, go, go watch some Pokemon poons. Yeah.
02:05:40
Speaker
it's ah it's like It's like a life sim type of thing. i wouldn't call it a game. I would say some of the old ah was going to say Tom Brady. What's his fucking name?
02:05:51
Speaker
ah Tom Clancy. Oh, yeah. ah Some of the older Tom Clancy games, but it's also like you go and and yeah yeah if you skip the tutorial, you're fucked. ah Oh, really? Oh, well.
02:06:04
Speaker
Well, because it's supposed to be because's like, wait, what am I? What are what do these buttons do again? And it's it's just not fun to figure that out. ah But like, i i would say that, but like, I've got nothing else really.
02:06:19
Speaker
Oh, Super Monkey Ball Adventure. That one's weird. that would Oh, yeah. i could I could see why that one's bad. and Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's another one of those. Like they, they just tried too hard. and You get lost a lot. They, they're not very good at like telling you where to go.
02:06:35
Speaker
They didn't do what made monkey ball work in the first place and try to do something different. And it didn't work. just give us levels back to back to back with a funny story with a baboon. That's it. That's all you need to do. Yeah.
02:06:50
Speaker
All right, it's time for us to now move into the bonus level and start closing things out for today's episode. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
02:07:02
Speaker
And starting off, we got Game Clash, which is a small mini tournament. And I'm like, man, what am I going to do? Well, let's go read a Void's about page on his Twitch. And he says he's a D&D nerd. So...
02:07:15
Speaker
but We haven't talked any D&D at all episode, but you know what? Now we get to Void. I have in front of you. There are eight ninth level D&D spells in a bracket. You are going to decide the winner. Are you ready?
02:07:28
Speaker
I'm as ready as I'll ever be. All right. I have to look up what some of these do. Hold on. That's one foresight versus wish. All right. Well, my immediate instinct is to go for wish first, just because it is the most powerful spell in D and d like it just, it, you, it like, you know how you can make a genie wish it's like that, but without any of the restrictions, right?
02:07:56
Speaker
the only you don he on is You get exhausted after it, right? That's the only downside. And all you have to do is just sleep for eight hours. Like it's fine. Don't worry, guys. I just need to sleep. No, you need to wish again.
02:08:10
Speaker
But I can only take so much for wishes that you die. ah Now, Foresight. Such a willing creature and bestow a limited ability to see the immediate future for the duration target. It's advantage on D20 tests and other creatures have disadvantage on the attack rolls against it. So that's good.
02:08:28
Speaker
i mean, the eight hour duration is pretty good. But... i don't I still don't think it's as good as Wish. Wish just gives you so much. like It like it ah literally breaks some games. like I've had DMs that have like, you can take any you can take a level spell, just not Wish.
02:08:46
Speaker
We're banning Wish. That's the only one that we're banning. And I was like, okay. But it is very powerful. We put it in the deck of many things so that way we can deter you. Oh, the deck of many things! I draw five.
02:09:01
Speaker
What do you mean you draw five? It's like Yu-Gi-Oh. Yeah. yeah I place wish card face down and end by my turn. I place my wish card face down at ed by turd you and not kidding me.
02:09:18
Speaker
Match two. Imprisonment versus weird. All right. Imprisonment. Did I spell it right? I did. right. What does it do? Magical restraint.
02:09:30
Speaker
It wasn't necessarily immune to the spell. Target is imprisoned. While in prison, target doesn't need to breathe, eat or drink. Doesn't age. Oh, it's until dispelled. Okay, that's why it's so powerful. ah I guess...
02:09:47
Speaker
Imprison, imprisonment is very powerful because it's just like you just hold a creature there. It's like it's like an avatar when like Aang like you just put it in the stasis bubble. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. um and And until you dispel it, it's just there in stasis forever.
02:10:04
Speaker
That is very powerful. Now, weird. forget what weird does. Remember, it's a weird spell. You could say. that ah 10d10 psychic damage is the frightened condition for the duration ah was saying there it takes oh it's a continued 5d10 psychic damage that is also very powerful honestly weird is good weird is a good spell in combat ah imprisonment ends the combat um
02:10:35
Speaker
So I'd have to give it to imprisonment over weird. All right. personally Match three, Storm of Vengeance versus Meteor Swarm. Again, my first instinct is Meteor Storm or Meteor Swarm.
02:10:48
Speaker
Storm of Vengeance. Fuck, I spelled it wrong. i have to keep I have to keep looking up what these things do because I they don't i don't have their information off the top my head.
02:11:01
Speaker
Uh, no player rain 300 feet, uh, seen on the constitution, save it, throw under damage. I have the deafened condition for the duration. Hmm. Storm produces different effects.
02:11:14
Speaker
ah Turn to 46 acid, six bolts of lightning, 10d6 lightning damage. Hailstones rain down. Each creature takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage.
02:11:26
Speaker
Jesus Christ. It's a lot of damage. It's a lot of damage. but Three times of damage.
02:11:34
Speaker
I just went to a site and like, all right, let's just grab some 9-level spells and pop it in here. I didn't realize it did all that. 2d6 thunder damage and then turn two is 4d6 acid damage and then turn three is 10d6 lightning damage or half on a saved throw.
02:11:52
Speaker
ah And then two d six bludgeoning damage on turn four. Then from turns five to 10, gusts and freezing rain assail the area under the cloud. Each creature takes 1d6 cold damage until the spell ends. The area is difficult to rain and heavily obscured. Range of attacks and weapons are impossible there. Or range attacks with weapons are impossible there. And the strong wind blows through the area.
02:12:13
Speaker
So they're deafened, heavily obscured, difficult to rain. m It has a radius of 300 feet. So yeah, it's very powerful.
02:12:24
Speaker
And then meteor swarm. I'm pretty sure I know what this does. It's just a very big hit. Yes. There's fear 20 six fire damage and 20 D six bludgeoning damage on a failed save. Which in the area, more forty d six, 40 D six. Yes.
02:12:42
Speaker
Uh, Honestly, my first instinct was to give it to Meteor Swarm, but ah now I'm thinking Storm of Vengeance because it's just like Meteor Swarm is good if it's a like if you want to like do a bunch of damage right now. Storm of Vengeance is if you know the fight's going to go on for a while.
02:13:00
Speaker
You've just set up Storm of Vengeance and then you just don't have to think about it. Just you keep attacking so many people with so much damage. um All right. Yeah, Storm of Vengeance. Match 4, Prismatic Wall versus Power Word Kill.
02:13:14
Speaker
So a lot of people say that Power Word Kill is like overpowered or everyone's like, oh, Power Word Kill, Power Word Kill. Oh, it's the strongest spell. overpowered if they have under 100 hit points. Yeah. Otherwise, it's just, again, it's 12d12 psychic damage. So it's a lot of damage. But if they have...
02:13:32
Speaker
but if they have over a hundred hit points, chances are they have a lot more than a hundred hit points. Like the, you, you, like the only reason I could see this is if you give it to like a very powerful, like BBEG, big, bad, evil guy, and they cast it on your party. Who's still like level four. but i was about to say at your level four, your level four party. Yeah. was dissing your mama so you unleash the big
Discussing the Worst Games
02:14:05
Speaker
bad evil guy with a power word kill and make them write new characters like power word kill is one of the most overrated spells in D&D in my opinion ah so I probably wouldn't give it to that I just want to see what prismatic wall does a prismatic wall
02:14:22
Speaker
ah 90 feet long alternatively shaping the wall to a globe ah oh yeah you can have different layers oh right oh yeah prismatic wall does so much extra stuff Holy shit. Yeah, know. I'm giving it to Prismatic Wall.
02:14:38
Speaker
I believe there's like also... like ah If you if you want to like break physics with the game, you can use Prismatic Wall with another spell. like it's like you ah It's like an unmovable cage spell or whatever it is. And then you just Prismatic Wall the cage. It's like, well...
02:14:52
Speaker
you's yeah you i to You broke physics. Good job. broke physics They're just dead. They're just paste. you did the Congratulations. You made a black hole and now everything is being destroyed by it. Good job. All right. Semivitals wish versus imprisonment.
02:15:10
Speaker
Wish is also very much like a lot of people are like, oh wish it's so powerful. But I think wish is more like worthy of that, like hype, you know? Yeah, because they can't do anything.
02:15:25
Speaker
ah Wish can just do anything. Imprisonment ends the fight. Well, that's the thing. ah the the The problem with this is that you can just use wish to cast any spell.
02:15:38
Speaker
Like I wish to cast imprisonment and then you cast imprisonment. So I think wish has to take it over imprisonment. And storm of vengeance versus prismatic wall.
02:15:50
Speaker
Hmm. See, here's the thing. You have one person cast prismatic wall around the storm of vengeance so that now everyone just dies. There's your wombo combo right there.
02:16:01
Speaker
um ah Probably Prismatic Wall it can do way more than Storm of Vengeance. Storm of Vengeance is very good for area denial, but Prismatic Wall just has way more like stuff you can do with it.
02:16:13
Speaker
All right. Final matchup, Wish versus Prismatic Wall. it's I can't not give it to Wish because you can just use Wish to cast Prismatic Wall. All right. Wish takes it then.
02:16:27
Speaker
its Again, Wish is very overhyped, but this is a situation where I think the hype is warranted because it's such a powerful spell. All right. But anyway. ah Moving on to this week in gaming history from June 22nd to July 5th. Here's what happened in the past.
02:16:46
Speaker

02:17:21

02:19:04
Speaker
Well, looking at the list that you provided me of band sports that I can't choose. Yes. ah Telling me not to choose ice hockey as a Canadian feels like a microaggression, but you know, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. He's already playing it. He can't play it anymore. I know. But I would love like unironically, I would love like a Mario Stryker style ice hockey game. That would make the most sense. It absolutely would. ah Get down and dirty on the ice. get Yes. I was going to say get gooning, but that has a different meaning now. But but hey before that word became bad, goons were a bit, they still are a big thing in hockey. Yes, I know. i know. But if I can't choose ice hockey specifically, I'm going to have to pick lacrosse because that is ah Ontario's ah other... or No, that is Canada's other national sport is lacrosse.
02:20:00
Speaker
is. And um ah what I would love if if it if it was... a game with he with ice hockey and lacrosse. So you could play both because it's like pretty much the same rules.
02:20:13
