00:00:47
Speaker
I was out last night. I stayed up till 2 a.m. reading. Same, but I wasn't reading. I was drinking, but not that much. I wasn't black out drunk or anything, but since I don't drink that often,
00:01:02
Speaker
you know, couple of margaritas later. You're like, we were gonna go to another medieval festival yesterday. But like, we woke up and I was like, Oh, I'm feeling so lazy and it looks so gloomy outside. And he was like, I'm gonna text Mara and see what they say. And he was like, how you guys feel about the festival? And he was like, Oh, we're being so lazy in this weather shit. And we were like,
00:01:29
Speaker
Yes. We talked about it before he talked to him too. I was like, if we do go, I was like, if everyone else wants to go, it's fine. I just don't think I'm going to dress up today. Like I don't have it in me to do all the makeup. And he was like, no, that's fine. I think I'm kind of in the same boat. Like the weather's, it's cold. I don't want to like dress up. And I was like, cool. But then everyone else wanted to be lazy too. So it was perfect. Those are the perfect kind of dates. Not looking forward to today.
00:01:58
Speaker
Oh, what happens today? That stupid dinner. Oh, that's right. I already forgot. I was like, what happens today? We talked about so many things. We did. I hate that. Well, hopefully it goes well and it's like a fun dinner and there's good food. Yeah, it's at Seoul. So we're going to like one of my favorite Korean restaurants out here.
00:02:21
Speaker
I love Korean food. This place, no place has ever compared to how good this food is. It is the best beef bulgogi I've ever had in my life. Their cucumber kimchi is to die for and their regular kimchi is really good. And then they serve these little, so you get this whole selection. It's regular kimchi, cucumber kimchi,
00:02:44
Speaker
Uh, like the quick fermented kimchi and then these like little carrots. And I don't know like what they do to these, but they are so good and buttery. I don't know. They're one of my favorites. So they have kick-ass banchan. Banchan. Is that what it's called? They just a little side dishes. Yeah. They just say whips a lot because that's German.
00:03:10
Speaker
Well, yeah, it's just like I guess the carrot salad or something. But yeah, that sounds delicious. I love it. It's so good. So I'm excited for the food and I don't like I am fine with everybody else. It's just one particular person that I could care less to see ever again in my life. Maybe they won't be there. No, they'll definitely be there. They made the reservation under their name and reminded us all yesterday. Of course.
00:03:37
Speaker
yeah so well at least it'll be good food and yeah you know that's really all we can do yeah yeah oh but now that i'm hungry for korean food what are we talking about we're talking about summertime magic i got that summertime summertime magic yeah yeah i'm excited for this episode
00:04:04
Speaker
Me too. I like doing

Overview of Summer Magic

00:04:07
Speaker
this research. I tried to stay off the internet because we, I think on the last one, we both had a lot of the same information. And I think you had started your notes first. So when I looked, I was like, Oh man, we have a lot of similar things. So I went into like the herbal side.
00:04:21
Speaker
to like kind of differentiate it. This time I just pulled books. I was like, not even going to Google anything. Let me get these books off my shelf. And I found so much stuff that I was like, I didn't even know that was in these books. Right? Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. So just to start us off on a little bit of background and some summer notable dates. So during summer, obviously we have lethal the summer solstice mid summer, like whatever you call it.
00:04:47
Speaker
Um, and that occurs June 20th through the 22nd, although some of the sources do say through the 21st, so I'm not sure it's either the 20th through the 21st or the 20th through the 22nd. It's probably how it was on the

Summer Correspondences

00:04:59
Speaker
calendar. Um, and if you are more like interested more into like.
00:05:05
Speaker
the ins and outs of Litha and all of the information on it. Episode 16, we did a complete deep dive on Litha. This is the Celebration of Summer, and it's also known as Summer's Gate. It represents the surrender to darkness, and the days are going to start growing shorter, and the nights are going to start growing longer once again.
00:05:27
Speaker
And this day is actually the longest day of the year. The next one is going to be the day of household deities. So that's on June 24th. And this is said to be the perfect day for cleansing and rededicating your altar or household shrines to any deities that you work with.
00:05:43
Speaker
The next is crone day and that's July 1st. This is a celebratory day for the crone and like old mother nature. And then the last one I found was witch's day and that's July 21st. And apparently this is the day that you're just supposed to like spend celebrating being a witch and celebrating the craft in all of its forms, which I thought was so precious.
00:06:07
Speaker
I'm like, I need to mark my calendar for that. Yeah. I mean, well, obviously we have some of those already on our calendars. But yeah, all of those, all the ones on our calendars. And then just like when we talk about practicing summer magic, the themes and magical workings for summer are abundance.

Personalizing Summer Magic

00:06:27
Speaker
cleansing, creativity, fire energy, growth, inspiration, motherhood, power, success, warmth, and vitality. And I also saw these as well, which tie into it, I guess, passion, intensity, joy, and revelry, which is always fun. And then working magic that calls on the masculine power of the sun, inspiration and creation, passion, and celebrating life.
00:06:56
Speaker
And so moving into some of the correspondences, there's so many for this time of year and it's just beautiful. I love it. I loved it. I was like, oh my God, every book that I opened, I was like, this one has more. This one has more. There's so much. I love it. So overarching symbols that we'll see. I mean, really anything that you can think of that ties back to summer. So fill in the blank here with anything that
00:07:21
Speaker
mean summer to you, but some of the main symbols are sunflowers, leaves, swords, spears, sun imagery of any kind, sun wheels, fire, sundials, feathers, and seashells. I also want to point out that I love that you said, like, fill in the blank with anything that means summer to you, because I think that's really important. Like, yes, all of the things that we're about to mention are tied to summer in some way,
00:07:47
Speaker
But maybe for you it's like going to a lake and maybe a rock from the lake means summer to you and that could be usable for summer. So really like just make it your own. But if you don't have an idea, these are examples.

Foods, Herbs, and Essential Oils

00:08:02
Speaker
So colors are going to be amber, gold, green, orange, pink, red, blue, white, and yellow, which I was like, okay, so almost every color, sun bright colors. Plants and essential oils are going to be calendula, chamomile, chickweed, heliotrope, honeysuckle, lavender, musk, rosemary, sandalwood, St. John's wort, violet, yarrow, sunflower, elderflower, mistletoe, and heather. Oh, I love honeysuckle.
00:08:32
Speaker
Any time I smell honeysuckle, I'm just like, this is summer. It reminds me of being a kid. I was going to say we had a huge honeysuckle bush in our backyard when we were kids at one place that we lived because we moved around every year. We absolutely loved it. We would go out there and pick the little flowers and you pull the thing out and you get the little honey.
00:08:51
Speaker
Yeah, whatever it is. And we also have that in our yard as well. And that's literally where you could find me all summer is sitting under that bush trying not to get stung by the bees because those bushes love bees or the bees love those bees like us. Yeah, they're like a gorging myself on honeysuckle. Yeah, they're super like bird and pollinator friendly, which I also love. I'm planting all of the butterfly bird and pollinator friendly flowers this year.
00:09:21
Speaker
I'm so excited. Yeah. Additionally to other plants and herbs and whatnot that correspond with this time of year would be things like basil, bay laurel, mint, rose, peony, vervain, mugwort, chicory, lily, hemp, fennel, nettle, wisteria, rue, fern, heather, oak, holly, and thyme.
00:09:44
Speaker
for food,

Setting Up a Summer Altar

00:09:46
Speaker
berries, citrus, grapes, peach, pineapple, pine nut, pomegranate, spinach, squash, tomato, honey, mead, and then just honestly any general fruits and vegetables from your garden because this is the time that like your garden should be flourishing at this point and producing fruits and vegetables, so anything from that.
00:10:06
Speaker
Yeah. And to go along with like the mead, like these are some fun ones, like ale, honey cakes, and whipped cream. I love that. So to dip all those little fruits in, I guess. Yes. And then animals are going to be the bee, obviously, because, you know, this is, it's time to shine. Butterflies, cow or bull. And then some sources said like just cattle in general, eagle, hot,
00:10:34
Speaker
horse, owl, goldfinch, wren, crabs, and swallows. And I was also reading, these are like, I mean, there's one on here that's like an actual like fucking animal. The rest are kind of not really animals, but they're listed as animals whenever you look up. So Phoenix, dragon, fairies, satyrs, and the robin.
00:10:57
Speaker
beautiful for it. Oh, Robbins are so cute. We had so many of them in our yard in Illinois. And they would have all the little babies and we'd have like little baby Robbins all over the place. So cute. Cute. For deities, there's Aista, Aphrodite, Apollo, Balder, Bust, Bridget, Freya, Gaia, Helios,
00:11:19
Speaker
I'm going to try really hard on this one. I looked it up and I spelled it so crazy so that I could try and pronounce it appropriately, but it's Weetsie-le-po-chilly, I think. If I'm saying it wrong, that's what the internet told me.
00:11:38
Speaker
Um, Ra, Sol, and Yamaya. And then also the Oak King, Fortuna, Arena, the Horned God, and the Triple Goddess, especially if you're Wiccan. And for crystals, we have amber, calcite, carnelian, citrine, clear quartz. Copper is not a crystal, but it was listed in crystals in one of the books.
00:12:01
Speaker
Is there a copper crystal? I don't think so. I don't think so. I just saw it. Yeah, I thought so. But it was listed under crystals, so I was like, okay. Diamond, gold, jade, peridot, sunstone, tiger's eye, emerald, lapis lazuli, and yellow topaz. For an altar, you would use any of the correspondences that we listed, but also incorporate solar imagery wherever possible.
00:12:27
Speaker
You can use fresh flowers that resemble the sun, like daisies and sunflowers. And something really simple that you could do would be to add a small basket of fresh fruits and vegetables to your altar that you use in some kitchen witchcraft and recipes that you're cooking for the week. And then replenishing your basket as needed to keep things fresh while also adding that summer energy and intention to your food, which I absolutely loved that idea. I thought it was so cute. That is really cute.
00:12:54
Speaker
Yeah. What a way to just do something super simple that you don't really have to think about or prep for. Maybe you have a garden and it's everything that you harvest. You just put it in that basket if it's safe to sit out and doesn't have to be refrigerated. Then as you're cooking throughout the week, you're pulling out of that and it's got that solar intention and energy tied to it and it's confusing your recipes.

Simple Magical Activities

00:13:21
Speaker
That's one of the easiest things.
00:13:24
Speaker
It makes me really want like another altar. Like a kitchen one. The one I have is in our bedroom. And so that would be kind of weird every time I need fruit, like coming upstairs to get it. You can do like a little discreet kitchen one. Yeah. Well, yeah, we got to make that happen. So there are various ways to celebrate and to incorporate seasonal summertime magic into your practice.
00:13:50
Speaker
The easiest way to incorporate summer into your magic is to just eat seasonally. Outside of just eating though, like trying to incorporate whatever is in season, wherever you are into your rituals and herbalism practices as well is one of the easiest things that you can do. But we're gonna talk about a bunch of things that you can do to celebrate.
00:14:10
Speaker
So the ones that I'm about to list came from a book called it's called recreational witchcraft and everything in this book is meant to be like super just like you don't have to do a whole lot. It's basically for someone who's either a really fucking busy really fucking forgetful or just like doesn't like have the time to put a whole ton of energy into like
00:14:35
Speaker
coming up with things to do. And I absolutely adore that book for this. It's listed in our show notes. So, you know, if you're interested in it, check there. But what they had for this particular section is they broke it down for how to celebrate in your home, how to celebrate outside of your home. And then they added celebrating with bath magic, which if you've been listening to us for any amount of time, you've probably heard us like talk about how to like
00:15:03
Speaker
do a bath ritual. We've talked about it on multiple episodes, and I think we even have an episode that's on Bath and Shower Magic. We love a good bath ritual. For starters, in the home, she says, to start your day with chamomile tea, to cook with recipes that call for honey, make and enjoy fruit and herb infused waters, burn sandalwood, frankincense, myrrh, or rose incense,
00:15:27
Speaker
and make homemade lemonade or sun tea. For outside of the home, spend time in nature and maybe watch the sun rise. Spend time collecting herbs and flowers. Sunbathe with sunscreen, obviously, because we don't want anyone getting skin cancer. But like spend time soaking in the sun's energy. Cleanse and charge your magical items under the sun. Swim in a natural body of water if you have one close by. Watch the sunset in the evening and build a bonfire to enjoy with friends and loved ones.
00:15:56
Speaker
And then for celebrating with bath magic, she says charge a bowl of water under the sun that you add to your bath. Add chamomile to your bath or any of those flowers that resemble the sun as well. And you can add sunflower seed oil either to your bath or apply it directly to your skin after bathing. So those are all like really low key, simple ways to incorporate summer magic and I love it.
00:16:22
Speaker
So there are different types of magic that really thrive with summer seasonal magic and so I'm going to quickly go over them. A couple of them we're going to do a little bit more of a deeper dive on so whenever I get to those I'm just going to kind of skim over those. But the first one is blessing magic and this essentially is blessing people or objects by drawing on beneficial energies.

Types of Summer Magic

00:16:43
Speaker
So this can include things like blessing rituals, prayers of blessing, anointing with consecrated water or oil or creating or charging talismans. And this can be used as a form of protection, especially if you take the objects you bless and spread them like around your home to kind of decrease negative energy.
00:17:03
Speaker
from even coming into your space to begin with. And summer is a season of power and abundance which makes this time of year perfect to dally in this type of magic. And like if you are Wiccan or you are wanting to learn a little bit more about Wicca, specifically this is the time of year where you would want to be invoking the god and goddess. Using ritual magic, this is the perfect time of year to call down the spirits of the horned god and the triple goddess to share their power and to offer thanks.
00:17:32
Speaker
so during the summer months the Wiccan god and goddess are at the height of their powers and this is the perfect time to invoke their energies and invoking usually involves an offering of some sort and as we say frequently on the podcast do your own research here and if you're interested in Wicca as a practice we briefly covered coven work back in season one and i know we have a couple of episodes or at least an episode in the future kind of on our
00:17:59
Speaker
ideas for episodes where we're going to cover Wicca specifically and maybe we'll even have like a guest or something on to talk to us a bit more about it but to just look out for that but if you are looking for information like now now on Wicca specifically definitely check out the podcast seeking witchcraft because she is Wiccan and all of her episodes are pretty much tailored to that specifically.
00:18:23
Speaker
And then next, plant magic and herbalism. And obviously, again, I'm not going to touch on this because Tiffany's going to discuss how to incorporate herbalism into your seasonal summer practice in a bit. So this is just a teaser. Surprise. A little foreshadowing and teaser for more to come. And then fire magic, because of course, summer, the sun, everything. And just like Tiffany's going to cover herbalism for seasonal magic, I'm going to be covering fire magic. So I'm not really going to go into that right now.
00:18:52
Speaker
It's coming soon. And then lastly, or not lastly, second to lastly, we have love magic. Summer is the perfect time of year to engage in love magic or any spell or ritual to attract love, romance, or relationships into your life. And so for instance, like some key dates here, Beltane, which is May 1, and has already passed unfortunately, but just to keep in mind for future spells, this is the perfect time for fertility magic.
00:19:22
Speaker
And Litha, as we've already discussed, falls somewhere around June 22nd-ish, give or take a couple of days. This is perfect for spells that involve passion and romance. And then in the late summer, this is a great time to engage and love magic focusing on
00:19:37
Speaker
continued love and success in long-term relationships.

Herbalism in Summer

00:19:41
Speaker
But obviously, we've said this back in season one and we've probably said it on a couple of other episodes as well. If you want to engage in this sort of magic, just be smart. Again, do your research and make sure that you're not interfering with someone else's free will because that is just a big bullseye to bring negative karma onto you and we don't want that. It's a big no-no. Big no-no, yes. And lastly, prosperity magic.
00:20:07
Speaker
or any sort of spell, ritual, or manifestation that involves bringing an abundance to your life is the perfect thing to do during summer. So again, because one of the main themes of summer is abundance, this also ties right into that. So late summer specifically is a great time to perform this type of magic, especially around Lamas, which is August 1st. And because historically, this was the time of year that farmers would ask, pray, manifest, whatever,
00:20:37
Speaker
to ask for a good harvest for the fall. And so doing prosperity magic around this time is the best time to do it. So with herbalism, this is like not a hard time for herbalist at all.
00:20:51
Speaker
This is the easiest time of year for us. This is a major time of preparation and work for herbalists. As we all know, summer is the start to the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer of temperatures slowly dropping as we approach fall and winter, and the start of welcoming the harvest season.

Summer Ritual Bath

00:21:08
Speaker
Spend summer just tending to your gardens.
00:21:10
Speaker
harvest as the plants grow and produce, and in terms of herbs and roots, use some of them fresh like now, obviously, but also start the drying process on others that you want to use throughout the winter months.
00:21:22
Speaker
use summer plants to create recipes for the present and for later use. And if you've been listening to this podcast for any amount of time, chances are you've heard me talking about my love and use of dandelions. And I absolutely love making dandelion wine that I brew in the summer and then enjoy it in the fall and winter because it's like a little cup of sunshine like on gloomy winter days.
00:21:45
Speaker
I'm a little sad because we haven't had enough dandelions this year for me to like, I know I'm like, this is gonna be my first year not doing it. I think we're gonna try. There's like some fields that we walk through. I'm gonna try and go down there and see if I can forge enough to make like a small batch, but
00:22:03
Speaker
this might be the first year that I actually don't get to make a dandelion wine, and I'm a little bummed. Well, maybe it'll be... Yeah. Hopefully, though, it'll just be like it's too early in the season. Because in England, our yard would just sprout up with every fucking dandelion late summer. It was not this time of year. So we had a bunch of dandelions sprout, but not enough to make a wine with.
00:22:26
Speaker
And then I can't like, you know, with the dandelions, like fresh dandelions, you can't save them for a long time. So I ended up drying those out to use for cells and stuff. But we'll see. I'm still crossing my fingers and holding out hope. But if you are somebody who's lucky enough to have dandelions in an untreated area because you don't want chemical treatment in your yard if you're picking them, make some dandelion wine. It's super easy.
00:22:50
Speaker
Next, I have a ritual bath to welcome summer, and this was taken from a book called A Witch's Apothecary by Lorraine Anderson. So she notes that this is not just a bath for midsummer but for summer in general, and she encourages you to do this as often as you'd like. So you'll need three drops of geranium essential oil, two drops of peppermint essential oil, freshly sliced oranges and lemons,
00:23:16
Speaker
and fresh edible flowers of your choice. So she says you fill the bathtub with a comfortable temperature of water that's slightly cooler than your usual bath. And this is because with the peppermint oil, it's going to be cooling already and hot water tends to make peppermint oil like
00:23:34
Speaker
hot on your skin too. It sure does. Yeah, that's really good if your muscles are sore. But it's also like the idea of summer is hot, so you're cooling. So once you get your bath full, you're going to add the essential oils and swirl them around to distribute and then add the fruit slices and flowers. She says to soak in the tub for 20 minutes while inhaling the relaxing scents.
00:24:00
Speaker
And she also notes that she finds this particular bath to be best in the morning, especially on the weekend, but that it's like also great for the evenings since drainium and peppermint oils tend to be relaxing and stress reducing.

Summer Recipes

00:24:14
Speaker
And then next, I have a couple of recipes. So these are both from Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Byer under her section on Midsummer. Again, if you've been listening to the podcast, I have referenced this book several times. I absolutely adore it. So the first one, this is an alcohol recipe. So this I decided to do too for anyone that's like
00:24:37
Speaker
doesn't drink alcohol so that you guys also have an option. Or this could make a great gift for somebody that does drink even if you don't. So this is called Nocino and it's a sacred Italian black walnut liqueur. And Rebecca notes that you make this walnut liqueur on Midsummer Eve to be served at midwinter. So the things that you're going to need are a gallon quart jar, freshly harvested black walnuts, gloves, a sharp knife, vodka, three cinnamon sticks,
00:25:07
Speaker
one tablespoon of whole cloves, one orange, and one cup of good brown sugar. You're gonna chop the walnuts into four pieces each, but carefully because they stain. So she recommends using like a darker stained cutting board. Drop these into the jar with the cinnamon, the cloves, the cut orange, and the sugar, and then fill the jar with vodka. You're gonna stir vigorously to get the sugar to kind of melt in there. And she also suggests that you leave the jar out on Midsummer Eve to bless it in the dew.
00:25:34
Speaker
Then you would store this in a cool dark place to steep for four to six weeks and after it's steeped you strain it and you would drink this at midwinter over a large ice cube in a templar. The second non-alcoholic recipe is going to be a mugwort chamomile and yarrow divination tea. So she notes that this tea is perfect for both washing your divination tools as well as drinking before bed for prophetic dreams or before trance work.
00:26:03
Speaker
So your ingredients are going to be one tablespoon each of mugwort, chamomile, and yarrow flowers. You're going to blend the ingredients in a bowl with your hands. Center yourself. Take like a few mind-clearing breaths as you're blending.
00:26:17
Speaker
Focus your will on receiving aid and divination. Then you're going to boil a fresh pot of water and take a teaspoon of the mixture, like of the herbs, and place them either in a tea ball or a tea strainer, tea bag, like whatever you have. Pour one cup of boiled water over the tea mixture and let it seep for 10 minutes covered. And the reason why you steep your tea covered is to trap all of the, like,
00:26:40
Speaker
oils and like all the goodness that basically that comes out of the herbs, it traps it in the cup instead of letting it escape into the steam. So you can sweeten it with honey if you wish or just drink it as is.

Sun and Fire Magic

00:26:52
Speaker
And if you're using it as a wash, allow it to cool and then wash your divinatory items with it to clear any negative energies. Save the rest of the herb mixture and a sealed glass jar for future use. Hmm. I love that.
00:27:07
Speaker
might have to try that because that sounds amazing. It does. It sounds really good. I love mugwort. It's one of my favorite herbs that a lot of people either A, don't know about or B, tend to dismiss. Because the name doesn't sound super appealing. You know what I mean? It doesn't. It doesn't. And it's not something that
00:27:29
Speaker
you hear about or like, it's not one that like people talk about so you're like mugwort anyways. But yeah, I love mugwort. Yeah, so now I'm gonna move a little bit on to sun or fire magic and

I mean, I don't know about you, I'm assuming you feel this way as well. But when I think about summer, I think of the sun and what better fit for practicing seasonal magic is there than honoring the sun and setting shit on fire. Not that many, like it's just perfect here.
00:27:59
Speaker
The sun promotes energy and expansion, creativity, confidence, and illumination. And you can very easily work with the sun by using it to charge your sacred items, which Tiffany has already mentioned, making sure that they can be charged in the sun though. So like, again, do your research because there's some things you just cannot put in the fucking sun and you need to know about it before you ruin it.
00:28:20
Speaker
And then also, as she mentioned with sunbathing, charge yourself in the sun. So sit in the sun, soak up the sun for a few minutes every day. And when I think about this, and this is something that me and my husband have started doing too, if you just take a few minutes in the morning, as soon as you wake up, take this time,
00:28:39
Speaker
meditate and picture the sun's energy, infusing your body with abundance, confidence, creativity, expansion, and any of the other verbs that we've mentioned so far in this episode related to the sun and this time of year. Just focus on whatever that means to you.
00:28:56
Speaker
This can be something that you can incorporate into your morning routine before getting ready for work. Just taking that few minutes, just sit on your porch and soak in the sun. It's a great way to start your day and help you wake up. And it's been like scientifically proven that like going outside when you first wake up and it's like having the sun hit you is it just wonders for your mental health. It does wonders for just your health in general and incorporating it as something so mundane into your magic is beautiful.
00:29:24
Speaker
So when we talk about fire magic, fire is the best thing we have on earth to symbolize the sun. And using fire magic during this time of year can be really beneficial to your practice.
00:29:37
Speaker
you don't have to do anything fancy. I mean you can if you want to and that's awesome and if you do we want to see pictures. But even just try incorporating your fire magic into your summer plans works just fine. So for instance like if you're going camping or lighting a bonfire in your backyard to enjoy some s'mores and a few drinks, you can take a few bay leaves and write down your manifestations on them and burn them in the fire. You can do this with like
00:30:03
Speaker
notebook paper too or just whatever the fuck you want to burn like do it you can even like create like sigils and throw them in there as well like i mean that's something super simple and easy and anybody can do it and most of us during the summer we will have a bonfire at least once perfect thing to do
00:30:22
Speaker
And then lastly I wanted to touch just a bit on water magic because this is also the perfect time of year to embrace water in your magic, especially if you live near a body of water. And so Tiffany's already mentioned like just getting into, if you have a body of water near you, getting in that body of water and incorporating that into your magic. This can include like the ocean of course, lakes, rivers, streams, and pools.

Water Magic

00:30:45
Speaker
So like even if you just have an outdoor pool in your backyard, guess what? The sun is heating that pool and then putting like
00:30:51
Speaker
you know, the energy from the sun into that pool, that pool that you've chlorinated and you keep clean is fine. And you can incorporate that into your magic. And if you have that, please invite me over because I would like to go for a dip in your pool. We don't have no pools here.
00:31:10
Speaker
And then also, if you are near an ocean, this is something that I was researching, and I loved this, but sand sigils. You can draw sigils in the sand. And so you would want to do this whenever the tide's coming in, obviously. But find a nice area, practice a sigil, draw it in the sand, and meditate on that sigil as the tide comes in and washes them away. And I thought that was fucking beautiful, and I am totally doing that this summer. And that's so easy. So easy. You need no tools, like none at all. No.
00:31:40
Speaker
especially for people that are in the broom closet, that's not going to look witchcraft in public. It just looks like you're playing in the sand and enjoying the beach. And watching the sunset and doing whatever. It's beautiful. Also, when it comes to water magic, oftentimes what we think about are things like moon water and things like that.
00:32:04
Speaker
you can use the sun, and we've mentioned this before, to create ritual water. So collecting water from the lake, the ocean, even using some summer rain and collecting that and using that for spells. And specifically, if you were to collect ocean water, ocean water is used for purification and cleansing, and lake water can be used for calling in peace and self-reflection.

Seashell Divination

00:32:27
Speaker
Those were the ones that I found when I was researching, but I'm sure that if you were to just like go in there and be like, what does
00:32:33
Speaker
Stream water represent an ritual practice. You could probably find your answers to that. I just did not do it. Well, if you are in our supercast and you read grimoire girl with us, you'll know that she uses streams specifically for like,
00:32:50
Speaker
washing things away or moving forward because it's a constantly moving thing. And then she had like little things for each type of body of water that she talked about in there that I can't recall off the top of my head, but there is that.
00:33:05
Speaker
Yeah. So listen to our supercast episode and also check out that book because that book is amazing. It was so good. I loved it. Yeah. And then also, or should I say it lastly? So lastly, something that you can do is seashell divination.
00:33:23
Speaker
And if you are into divination, using seashells in your divinatory practice is a great way to really get into the season. So essentially all you need is two seashells. So whether you forge them yourself, which in my opinion is the best way to attain them, or if you already have some from like souvenirs, if somebody's bought them for you as a gift or you bought them online, whatever, it doesn't matter. Just use what you have and use whatever resonates with you. So, you know,
00:33:50
Speaker
however you put your energy into it is what's gonna work best for you. So what you're gonna do is you're gonna take your two shells and you're gonna toss them lightly like a dice while you have a question in mind. And so I would recommend doing this like on the beach because you know it's perfect especially when we're talking about summer magic but also you know the sand will kind of help the shock absorbency a bit and your shells will be like less likely to break or like I mean you could do it at your dining room table or just wherever but
00:34:18
Speaker
Don't be too aggressive with the tossing of the shells because you don't want them to break. But how you would use this in the divinatory practice is say if you tossed your seashells like dice, if both shells are turned upward, the answer to your question is yes. And if they are turned downward, the answer is no. But if one shell is turned up and the other is turned down, the answer is a maybe.

Conclusion and Call to Action

00:34:45
Speaker
And I thought that was really cute. That's something I'm going to try to say as well.
00:34:48
Speaker
It's super easy. This is like your gateway drug essentially to divination. This is perfect. Again, just like with the sigils on the beach, this is something you can absolutely do while in the broom closet. Who is going to sit there and be like, oh, she's doing witchcraft or he's doing witchcraft. If you're just on the beach, toss in a couple of seashells. No one's going to know.
00:35:12
Speaker
They're going to know. No. So that is summertime magic. Everything in this episode I loved. Yeah. I'm like really because summer is my least favorite season. I am excited. This gives me a lot of
00:35:31
Speaker
inspiration for what I want to do this summer. So I love it. Yeah. I'm a fall and winter girl. I like spring for like the herbalism part of me, but I could leave it too. I don't really, it's not my favorite, but summer is definitely my least favorite. Summer is definitely helpful, but this helps. Yeah. I'm a spring and fall girl. If you practice summer magic or if you heard something in here that you're excited to try, let us know. We'd love to hear about it.
