00:00:38
Speaker
FYI, because you guys have not listened to the outro yet. You have to stay tuned to listen to our updated outro. After three seasons. After three seasons, we've literally changed it. And we love it.
00:00:51
Speaker
listened to the outer yet you have to stay tuned listen to our of david outro calendar and the three seats after threely changed it oh and we love it But I'm so used to saying that whole long other paragraph that might be a little choppy for a few first few episodes. I'm not going lie, but eventually giggling.
00:01:16
Speaker
new but We'll edit that part out. Yeah. It'll definitely probably be in a blooper. Right. Yeah. It was great though. I loved it. Yeah.
Celebrity Rumors and Opinions
00:01:29
Speaker
Um, so don't know if you have seen, i think you have, are you following that whole mess with Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds?
00:01:40
Speaker
And Ryan Reynolds. was like, of course they're not good people. Right. This whole time I was like, man, they seem like good people. Anthony was like, she always had crazy eyes. Yeah.
00:01:54
Speaker
I know. I've always loved him. thought she was a problem first. And then yeah realizing, like, because I was listening to, and i'm I'm not a fan of Candace Owens, don't get me wrong.
00:02:05
Speaker
Same, but i being said to she has found her niche. Yes, she has. And let me, when I tell you, i believe that shit 100%. Like I 1000% believe that Ryan Reynolds was jealous because Blake Lively developed feelings for Justin. And that's where this all came from.
00:02:25
Speaker
You cannot convince me. Because. Was it a Green Lantern that they filmed when they started dating and he was married to Scarlett Johansson? Yes. And she was dating someone else at the time, too. and they developed feelings on set and got married. Yeah.
00:02:42
Speaker
yeah what He was married to her ah Scarlett Johansson for like less than a year. Right. It was just months. Mm-hmm. And so I feel like too, um so they said that this is common for, I'm not a huge like Blake lengthlyaf blake Lively fan because I just don't think she's that great of an actress.
00:03:02
Speaker
But I'm assuming like, because I a i've read somewhere that she's kind of an Epo baby. she Her family's like in the business, right? So that's kind of how she got her start.
00:03:14
Speaker
And every movie show, everything that she's been on, she's always ended up like in a relationship with whoever her love interest is. So yeah I don't think because she's not a great actress, maybe she just can't separate fact from fiction when it comes to acting.
00:03:35
Speaker
um Because yikes. Yeah. Well, it's been like what within the last year, all of this stuff is surfacing about like how awful she treats people, like yeah interviewers, cast members, like everybody has been coming out being like, she is not a nice person.
00:03:52
Speaker
the i like never really knew much about her outside of just like things that she was in. Because I feel like she's done a pretty good job staying out of the limelight.
00:04:04
Speaker
So I guess I just never really thought of her as anything but just like a quiet, like reclusive person. And then all this stuff came out and I was like, she is awful.
00:04:15
Speaker
Right. Yeah. I'm just like, okay, um I hate all this.
Movie Critique: Colleen Hoover Adaptation
00:04:18
Speaker
yeah And then, which to be fair, okay. So I ended up watching. So as um i think we might've even talked about this on the podcast. I don't know, but we do not like Colleen Hoover. Like we've tried her books.
00:04:32
Speaker
They're not that good. No, no, thank you. And I just, don't like the way- Yeah, I don't, I feel like some of the men just, I don't like them. um But I ended up, because I kept seeing the movie advertised, and I'm just like, I'm just going to watch it. I'll just watch it. That movie sucked.
00:04:50
Speaker
Like, that movie sucked so bad. does. feel like I'm probably going to watch it just to see what's going, like what, because they keep talking about the scenes and shit that she changed and stuff. Yeah. So now I'm like curious just to see if it's like,
Portrayal of IPV in Film
00:05:04
Speaker
but i'm like I'm pretty sure what was released, like that's Blake's cut and the editing is bad. like It's hard to follow the timeline because the editing is so bad. And then I don't know. I just feel like- it does it in It does a disservice to people who are actually victims of intimate partner violence because it's one of the things that people struggle unless you've been in that situation or unless you've done you know learned about it from a unbiased standpoint or like you've researched it or whatever.
00:05:39
Speaker
One of the things that people don't understand is how difficult it is to leave a violent relationship. Yeah. the movie to me, I'm curious once you read it or once you watch it, because I don't know if you've read the book. I don't even remember the book because it was so bad. So I feel like I didn't finish it because I didn't like it.
00:06:00
Speaker
um I tried to read Verity. I didn't try to read this one. And I was like, Oh, no, Verity sucked too. um But the way that this movie is edited, like,
00:06:15
Speaker
like there There is – you don't understand from ah victim's perspective how difficult it would be to leave a situation. It's just like, oh, yeah, and we're going to leave.
00:06:27
Speaker
And I'm like – Well, I don't know if you've watched any of like the interviews. I watched some of the interviews that they've done post-filming, kind of the promotional stuff for the movie. Yeah.
00:06:38
Speaker
And every interview with Justin Paldoni is like, he wants to tell this story. He wants women to know that it's okay, that you can get out, that things can get better. Like he's saying all the the all the right things.
00:06:50
Speaker
And then they like ask Blake about it. And she's like, oh, I just, you know, the outfits and the flower. And it's all about like the appearance of everything. Yes. Or it's about her. I think it was like he read the books.
00:07:04
Speaker
the earth Is it one book or a series? I think it's two books. Okay. So I don't know if he read both, but I know he read at least this book and he wanted to tell that story.
00:07:14
Speaker
And like she had she never even like read the book and she didn't even know what the story was about. And so everything is just like so surface level and not even about like the issue at hand.
00:07:26
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And she was very much like, especially after like listening to people deep dive all of the lawsuits, because I'm going to tell you right now, I'm not going to read that shit, but I will watch a TikTok on it. yeah very yeah I will um hold it down on two speed and listen to someone go off. about it Yeah. Like I will do that all day. um But after knowing what we know now, because like whenever first came out and people were like, oh, there's something off with Blake Lively. Like she's kind of mean and it feels weird that she's advertising the movie this way.
00:08:00
Speaker
Going back now and watching some of those videos, I'm like, this woman is nuts. And then a lot often in some of the interviews too, she talks about how like she did so much work on the editing and how like it so was such a hard job and how you know rewriting all the scenes. And it was never about the victims. It was always about her. And I'm just like- and Well, did you see the weird morality clause thing too with Colin Hoover?
00:08:32
Speaker
And it's like, okay, this felt it feels like a setup. Like, let me put this clause in here that if you are ever accused of sexual assault, you don't have the rights to this movie anymore. Right. Then I'm going to be Blake Lively's bestie.
00:08:47
Speaker
And then she's going to accuse you of sexual assault so her and Ryan can take over the franchise or whatever they're calling it. Yeah. and Did you see like All of the backlash that Colleen Hoover has faced now, she's deleted all of her social media and she said she's going to retire. And I'm like, that tells me everything I need to know about you
Philosophy of Spring Cleaning
00:09:08
Speaker
because I already did not like you as an author and had a feeling you were not a great person.
00:09:14
Speaker
Blake Lively being like, oh, Taylor Swift is one of my dragons and Taylor Swift is like, I got to take a step back from this friendship. yeah that Khaleesi thing was so cringy anyways it really was yeah and I'm just like did you also not watch Game of Thrones because I did not end well oh
00:09:36
Speaker
oh my god yeah this is not a Blake Lively coho podcast it really isn't although we could probably make an entire episode about this really could and and Honestly, it's not going to be 12 minutes because we're going to be editing out like probably half of that with me stumbling through our outro. So it's fine. That is true.
00:10:00
Speaker
What are we talking about today? Spring cleaning rituals. Yes. Yay. This is coming out just in time for spring.
00:10:11
Speaker
So you guys can prepare. Yes. Yeah. And this is one of our favorite styles of episodes that we do, which is more of a conversational episode. I don't know. I'm really happy for this episode because I love i love spring cleaning and I love conversational episodes. so Yeah. i love these episodes the most.
00:10:34
Speaker
I think that we should do them more often. We just got to figure out more topics that we don't you know, that we have more of a wealth of knowledge on that we can't do that on Because most of the time we're like, i don't know about this thing 100%. need to go do some research. Right.
00:10:49
Speaker
Or like, don't know as much as I should know about this deity. Let me just go ahead and like do a lot of research on that. But yeah. so with this time of year, I mean, in every culture, there seems to be an emphasis on spring cleaning.
00:11:05
Speaker
There's something related to around this time of year, take out the negative, introduce the positive, get rid of the stagnation. And spring is that.
Astrological Alignment with Spring Cleaning
00:11:16
Speaker
And I know that in at least Western society or in even in just like the magical spaces,
00:11:23
Speaker
It aligns a lot this time of year with the beginning of the zodiac new year. So at the end of March, beginning of April, um the beginning of that, or beginning of Aries season, it's that time of fertility with with, well, if you want to call it Easter, we call it Ostara, with the spring equinox.
00:11:42
Speaker
But it really is highlighted during this time of year as like, energetically, this is the perfect time to do it. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and like while we're focusing on spring cleaning, you can take any of this into any season, any day, any month. It really doesn't matter. You can do any cleaning, energetic cleaning seasonally or whatever you want to do.
00:12:07
Speaker
But we're focusing on spring today. ah Yes. Yeah. And it just, when I think about spring cleaning, i just envision in my head, like opening up all the windows, having the sunlight stream in and just taking that time to see all the dust punnies and getting rid of everything that you have. All the little cobwebs and all of it.
00:12:28
Speaker
Cause winter such a time. And I love that we're seeing more of this highlighted in all witchy spaces and then also like online and stuff. And I know that every like The beginning of every year, it's like this focus on, oh, we're going to getting our shit together in January. and Yeah.
00:12:48
Speaker
And I think that you talked about this on our last um episode that that we did that were about like seasonal magic, where it was really just, okay, if that resonates with you, that's great at the and beginning of the year doing that. But it really like this is a perfect time to not do that and to just rest and- reflect and, you know, save up your energy and then starting it all in spring. If you think about this time of year, right now we're recording this at the beginning of February. So it's still like winter, you know, January when everyone does like their new year's resolutions and stuff, or like, it's time to get my shit together kind of thing.
00:13:28
Speaker
That's like the dead of winter. And if you think about like what the earth is doing at this time, it's resting and recuperating and getting ready for the big, you know, renewal of spring. So you should be like storing
Practical Spring Cleaning Tips
00:13:40
Speaker
that energy and just kind of like rejuvenating yourself.
00:13:43
Speaker
And this would be a perfect time to transition. You know, spring is the perfect time to transition into that. Yeah, I agree. And there's this connection with I mean, you see this again, and and this is another thing that's connected in every culture and it's been studied in um how this can impact your mood, but there's a huge connection between clutter and stagnant energy and how that impacts not just your practice, but also your mental health as well.
00:14:14
Speaker
And so- Whenever I think about spring cleaning in that aspect, and we've talked about making your entire house like a magical space, but I think one of the easiest ways that you can get the motivation to actually complete all of the spring cleaning that you need to do is focusing your entire home as being magical and having it, you know, think of your home as being a magical entity of its own. And we've talked about that before with, I think like hearth witchcraft, maybe i can't remember which episode it was, but the practice of naming your home and talking to your home and, you
00:14:51
Speaker
if you view it in that way, it makes it so much more magical and yeah. In completing your spring cleaning. if If you look at your home as this magical space, being able to declutter with intention, releasing what no longer serves you, because having just an accumulation of stuff everywhere really can, it you would be surprised at how much it affects every aspect of your practice and even wanting to practice. Because if you if like think about it and and even just like a personal experience that I've had in my room, I have my altar set up.
00:15:28
Speaker
and Beside my altar, for a little while, because we didn't really have a place to store it, we had this large plastic tote that we would keep extra sheets and blankets and stuff in.
00:15:41
Speaker
Until we found a new home for that, that ended up becoming kind of like the the chair in the corner of your room, where if you have clothes on your bed, you put it on top of that chair. That tote box became...
00:15:53
Speaker
the chair in the corner of our room. um And my husband would use it to, oh, if he took off his clothes and he's just like, well, these are still clean. i'm Instead of putting away, I'm going to put it on this tote box.
00:16:06
Speaker
And it really impacted me being able to practice because I couldn't even get into that magical headspace because I would see this tote box and like beside my altar stacked with clothes.
00:16:17
Speaker
And then just it just affects the whole mood, the whole energy. does. moving that out and getting rid of that and being able to declutter and be like, okay, actually we don't need like anything in this fucking tote box because, yeah you know, we use the same sheets and we rotate the same like sets of sheets. Like we don't need like seven other styles of sheets. But anyway, like having like releasing that, I think it really does help. And Also using fresh air and sunlight to cleanse and revitalize your area. So, you know, as I mentioned earlier, like every time I think about spring cleaning, I think about opening up the windows, having the sunlight stream in, sunlight in itself. And we've mentioned this in other episodes of how cleansing that sunlight can actually be. and Yeah. Yeah.
00:17:10
Speaker
Just even like at the beginning of spring where you still have that chill of winter, but like that promise of rebirth and renewal is coming through, being able to just throw open those windows and do, you know, cleaning out just the stagnant energy and let that be part of your practice.
00:17:27
Speaker
Yeah. So easy to do. It is literally one of my favorite things to do. Like even just the other day, we had um a couple of our friends over for ah dinner and drinks just to hang out.
00:17:39
Speaker
And I was cleaning this room that I'm in right now. We call it our library bar room because that's kind of what it is. It's got like our bar stuff. We've got this cute little bar table in here that we, you know, hang out with our friends.
00:17:52
Speaker
at and stuff and I'm like in here cleaning and the first thing I did I walked in and I just like opened the windows like lifted the raladins so that the sun was shining in opened the windows to like push all the stale like stagnant like energy and air out and just like Within 30 minutes, I feel like this whole space was just a completely different space without me having come in and like cleaning anything yet. Like I, all I did was open the windows and let the sun in and let the air in. It was so nice.
00:18:22
Speaker
It just like lifts your mood too. It does. It's like it spring cleans your soul. Yeah. Well, when we've been talking about, cause you know, like in the States you have like screens on your windows and your doors and we don't have that here, but we're going to buy some this spring from Amazon to fit our windows so that we can just open them because we have cats.
00:18:46
Speaker
in the house that would try to escape if the windows were open. And then we have like ah slew of neighborhood cats that like congregate in our yard that always try to come in our house anytime like we open the doors. So if I had windows open without screens, I'd have – my cats would be wandering around. i'd have someone else's cats hanging out in my house. So screens are definitely essential and that is a spring um plan for us this year because just like to have my windows open.
00:19:15
Speaker
Yeah, that was the hardest part ah but for us in England, too, because we didn't have screens, was we would open up the the windows, and then next thing you know, we'd have like three fucking bees in our house. And I'm just like, oh, yes.
00:19:30
Speaker
We have like these like giant hornets out here, and you're not allowed to kill them. like It's illegal to kill them. You could be fined like a ridiculous amount of money if you get caught killing these hornets.
00:19:43
Speaker
And they'll just like, if you crack the window, even just like lean it so that it's cracked open, they'll find a way in. And then you're just like, I will literally just shut doors of my house. And Anthony comes home from work and he's like, why is this closed? I'm like, because there's a hornet in there. So you have fun with that. and I'm going to go in a different area of the house so I don't get attacked.
00:20:02
Speaker
e It's such a pain. It really is. but And as much as like so right now in ah Japan, or at least where I'm at, it's pretty cold right now, which is wild because I live on a tropical island. And I'm trying not to complain because it is pretty chilly. Like it's like I'm trying to find where I fucking stashed my winter coat because it's chilly outside.
00:20:25
Speaker
How cold is that? It is cold, okay? It is cold for Okinawa. um it is... Like 50 degrees, which the wind though, the wind, Tiffany, it is so cold.
00:20:42
Speaker
Anyway. Our highs have been like 34 and our lows have been like 20. Well, whenever it's mostly like a hundred percent humidity and thousand degrees outside, this is cold.
00:20:56
Speaker
um Yeah. But just that feeling, I miss that feeling. And I loved it so much in England where – Spring is coming. The sun is out. It's kind of warm, but it's still little bit chilly. Oh my gosh. That was my favorite, favorite time of year. Well, and then you open the windows and you let that little chill in and it just like, I feel like it just energizes the space. It's so nice. I love it. 10 out of 10 recommend you do nothing else, open up all your windows.
00:21:26
Speaker
Right. If that's all of your spring cleaning, just open all your windows. If that's your only like capacity. Open all your windows. Also, i will say, if you're somebody like me and you struggle with like
Incorporating Magic in Cleaning Rituals
00:21:42
Speaker
trying to spring clean everything all at once, because I've learned that what I will do is I will be like, oh, I'm going to clean everything today.
00:21:51
Speaker
and then I'll end up hyper fixating on one thing until it's like halfway done. And then I'm like, well, I still have all these other things to do And then I get overwhelmed and I quit. Oh, you sound like my child. Sure.
00:22:03
Speaker
Make sure that you work room by room and even week by week. Like if you get overwhelmed easy, be like this week, my task is this one room. Next week, it's this one room. Maybe if it's a small space, it's two, you know, these two rooms.
00:22:19
Speaker
But like, make sure you work at your capacity While you're still doing it. Because when you're done, you know, you're done. Everything's going to be nice and clean and you don't have to worry about it You can just like go in and keep it up versus like trying to go in and do everything all at once where you get overwhelmed and then it just doesn't get done.
00:22:41
Speaker
Like I've been there. I've totally done that before. I'm like, I totally regret deciding to hyper fixate here and pull everything out because now I still have 40 other tasks to do and it's midnight. Like just work at your capacity, take it in small steps, work room by room, set like a weekly goal.
00:23:00
Speaker
Hell, if you like, it your capacity is monthly, set a monthly goal, do like meet yourself where you're at and then it won't be so bad. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah just like make a cute little to-do list or something and put it on your fridge. mean, that's, I mean, one of the most mundane things ever, like making a little to-do list. But if that's what helps keep you on task for your spring cleaning, then do it.
00:23:27
Speaker
If you make like a to-do list like that, every day that you finish one of those rooms or tasks, whatever it would be, have some sort of like give yourself something witchy in return. Like whether that be, okay, well, I'm done with this room. So I'm going to do a ritual in this room or going to um do like incorporate something that makes it magical for you. That way it doesn't feel like such a chore.
00:23:54
Speaker
Yeah. Well, and a lot of, I feel like a lot of spring cleaning can be so mundane. Like, I mean, a lot of it is cleaning.
00:24:07
Speaker
And a lot of, you know, what you're doing, you can add like magical elements to it, but it is going to feel so mundane. So like, I think that's actually a really good idea to be like, I did this mundane task and got this, you know, room or section or whatever done.
00:24:25
Speaker
So now I'm going to go do a ritual or maybe some witchy self-care or something, just something that's, you know, magical, that maybe we'll tie more of that magic into your day and make it feel better.
00:24:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I think that's a really good idea. So moving on to some of our favorite methods for spring cleaning. um Obviously one of the easiest things you could do, and that's, I mean, it establishes that mind body connection with magic is sweeping with intention And this doesn't have to be, I mean, obviously you can do like the energetic sweeping, but really before you do that, you kind of also want to clean your space as well. So if you're just like sweeping above your floor to energetically sweep, it might make some sense.
00:25:16
Speaker
I'm just saying, if you sweep your floors first, clean it. just do it all at once. It's all one sweep. Energy, dirt, go. Yes. Yeah. All of you out. Anything crazy. Yeah. Yeah.
00:25:28
Speaker
yeah And so sweeping with intention, I think is really great sweeping your front porch and your back porch. ah And cause that's not something that everybody does all of the time, but making that a priority during your spring cleaning rituals, I think is, is wonderful. And then you can then focus on, okay, well now that I've swept my front and my back porch, let me pull out some Florida water and energetically clean my doors and stuff. So, um,
00:25:55
Speaker
um That is something that I do. And it makes it smell so good. like Even if you're just like, oh, I've never washed my door before. Why would I do that? Do it because it smells good. like And then just make it- Also think of how many people touch your door.
00:26:09
Speaker
well Exactly. It's gross. And when you think about that and in just your doorway in general, all of all of the people who in this past year, since last spring, have come to your home have touched your doorknob have brought their own energy into your space if you're not taking the time to clean that space then you're just allowing all the stagnant possibly negative energy to just live in this liminal space and that's not great like so i love to do that like i try to do ah
00:26:40
Speaker
door wash every month just to cleanse that area. And then this would be the perfect time as well. If you have those crystal, like any sort of crystals that you keep by your front entryway.
00:26:51
Speaker
So for myself, like black tourmaline, taking those down, cleansing them, recharging them. If you have a little area by your front door where you can um include maybe like some sort of smoke cleansing, that's what I do. at By my front door, I have a incense holder and then I keep my frankincense stash there. And so every time I clean my front and entryway, I always like frankincense incense, in which is clearly something I do more often than just a spring cleaning ritual. right But you can incorporate that in as well. And then just
00:27:26
Speaker
You know, it makes your whole house smell amazing. And it's very witchy and it's cleansing. So it's perfect. Yeah. love a front porch too Something that I used to do at our house in Illinois, and I probably should start doing it here.
00:27:40
Speaker
We had this cute like front, like covered front porch with like chairs that where we would sit outside and stuff. I would um just like sweep the entire thing.
00:27:53
Speaker
and then I started like power washing and mopping it with, um not Florida water, but like I would infuse water with herbs, like different herbs for whatever my intentions or, you know, like whatever I was trying to set for that space at the time that I was doing it.
00:28:10
Speaker
So I would just like infuse water with herbs and then like mop my porch. And then under my um welcome mat, I would use selenite to draw like protection sigils and wash my door and my windows And I feel like it just always gave that space just such a good facelift and then made it so like comfortable. Like we would just go sit out there and relax and it would be like, it would smell nice. It would just be so clean. And like, I don't know, like a clean space like that is just so comforting.
00:28:43
Speaker
Yeah. And I feel like taking like being intentional about it and the fact that you like intentionally picked the herbs that you did and that you took the time to be present and mindful in the moment to clean that space and draw your protection sigils and stuff, it makes it to where even in a space of your house that you don't often use or maybe you haven't used in a season because it's been too cold or rainy or whatnot,
00:29:11
Speaker
taking that time and effort to give back to other spaces in your home, I feel like just, it, it makes it magical. and And that's something that I'm hoping to incorporate this year.
00:29:23
Speaker
Our front porch is very small. We can't really sit on it. Um, but we do have plants and all, um, and everything on our front porch and that whole area, like that is on my to-do list to tackle for my spring cleaning this year is to remove everything off of it, clean off things because,

Here's the thing too with Okinawa, just to let you guys know, we still have pumpkins on our porch. I don't know like if these are just like weird mutant pumpkins that don't, but we also have a pumpkin on our porch that literally is two years old.
00:29:56
Speaker
That has not rotted. It's not rotted. So I actually, because you know, we're getting into planting season. It's spring. I've got like all my, i can like see all of my little seedlings that I have like potted over there getting ready for once the last frost hits.
00:30:13
Speaker
just learned, I've been learning a lot about gardening things because what else do I have to do? So I learned that there are different squash, like Some are considered summer squash. Some are considered like autumn and some are considered winter.
00:30:30
Speaker
And it's not that you grow them in those seasons. That's when you eat them. So you grow them all at the same time. But an autumn squash is going to stay good and fresh longer than a summer squash. And then a winter squash is going to like outlast them all.
00:30:48
Speaker
I wonder if got winter pumpkins. I don't know. I'm like, maybe that's like something out there. They've got these like hybrid winter pumpkins. Yeah. I don't know. Cause I, I thought they were like imported from the States.
00:31:01
Speaker
And so I was assuming that they'd go bad. Cause here's the thing here. You can't really carve the pumpkins. Well, the pumpkins are very expensive if you buy them here, first of all. But then second of all, if you carve them, they will mold within like two days.
00:31:15
Speaker
um It doesn't matter if you clean it. Like it doesn't matter. um Yeah. All the humidity, but keeping them whole and just drawing on them two years in two years. That's so weird. I don't know if I should just keep it wrinkled or like caved in.
00:31:32
Speaker
That's so weird to me. Are they fake? Yeah. They're real. you they're not real yeah they're real I don't know. i honestly don't know. So I've got to um get rid of those probably because, you know, after two years, it's probably time to get rid of them. But I've probably soaked up all sorts of energy and.
00:31:54
Speaker
Right. Yeah. Moving along, going to know someone's garden somewhere. I don't know. like Find like a wildlife place to drop them off for the animals.
00:32:05
Speaker
Yeah. That's a really good idea. ah But yeah. And then also I remember, um so I have not done this as often as I should, but I love this idea. And I know that you've done it before, um the salt and herb bowls for protection to like absorb negative energy and whatnot.
00:32:24
Speaker
um First of all, it looks amazing. Like, so that's a really cute little thing to add to like your entryway or on your front porch or back porch or whatnot. But then also to have it as this magical space to absorb any negative energy, keeping it by your entryway. So after you do that wash and after you sweep up that area and cleanse it, and I want to either buy or rent a power washer this year because then humidity in Okinawa, just everything is gross um to really cleanse our our back porches where we usually sit and hang out and put out a little salt and herb
00:33:06
Speaker
bowl out for protection. I kept one. um we had a little table at our front door, like on the porch outside and it had like a no soliciting sign that's, that said, um,
00:33:20
Speaker
we would like feed solicitors to the old gods, not the new. and I tucked my salt and herb bowl behind that to keep like, to help keep it from like blowing over. But also it just like kind of hit it. So people weren't like, what the hell is this thing? You know? right But, and I would, every time i would either like mop my floors, like do a deep mop with like herbal cleanses and stuff, or like wash my door or my porch, I would redo my salt and herb bowl.
00:33:50
Speaker
Yeah. And it was really cute too. but Yes. Yeah. I feel like I would only be able to do it on my back porch because our front porch, like I said, it's very small and there's not that much, um,
00:34:02
Speaker
there There isn't really a space to kind of keep it safe from the elements on our front porch. yeah And it rains a lot here. So I'd probably only be able to do it on our back our back porch, which is more covered.
00:34:14
Speaker
um But you can take any of the, like, you know, we've done a lot of episodes on herb spotlights and um even on the newsletter. If you're a Supercast subscriber, I've talked about different herbs,
00:34:29
Speaker
throughout the years on there as well. So if you're interested in learning a bit about you know what herbs can I use for this type of bull, if I want to set up this type of intention, definitely take a look at some of our previous episodes and the newsletters because there's a lot of information on there. And the next episode that we are recording, so next week's episode, is ah magical...
00:34:53
Speaker
plants spotlight. So there you go. Those are my favorite episodes. Yeah. um Yeah. I like them too, even though i'm not a herbalist, but I'm pretty much as well.
00:35:06
Speaker
um But then also- I get to nerd out for a little while, so it's fun. Yes. Yeah. One of the things that I feel like when we talk about spring cleaning, we don't always- like we, we focus a lot on the mundane tasks of cleaning, right. And just actually physically doing the things. But then when you think about it as well, spiritually and energetically, you have also been in a state of, okay, well, this is winter. I'm going to rest and I'm going to renew. And I'm going to, you know, just relax and rot on the couch and not do very much because it is winter and I need to save my energy. Like Tiffany was saying,
00:35:48
Speaker
But um really taking this time to focus on yourself energetically as well is very important. And so I recommend, and this is something that you know you can do again, any season, but this is great if you're wanting this new, fresh, um cleansed a version of yourself and whatever that looks like for you.
00:36:11
Speaker
Journaling, doing some intention setting, focusing what aligning your energy with what you want to have done. And so this can look like something that you want to manifest into your life, but then also it can be even just as simple as aligning your energy for the spring cleaning that you're doing in your home and figure out like, okay, well, the goal for my year is to make sure that every day before I go to bed, I am leaving my home in a state where when I wake up, I feel refreshed and I feel good because my house is clean or, you know, whatever that looks like for you. So in visualizing, okay, if I want to make this change for myself, then what do I have to start doing? What are the steps I need to make?
00:36:57
Speaker
And what do I need to focus on the night before to make sure that when I wake up, I wake up in this different energetic space, than when I went to bed. and And so being able to take a few minutes to just set that intention and be present, I think is also very important.
00:37:12
Speaker
And um it really helps in, you know, making sure your goals and intentions and your spring cleaning rituals are successful. one One of my favorite things to do, and I do this year round and seasonally, I change it up seasonally too, but I love to make a fucking simmer pot.
00:37:33
Speaker
Just pop a little pot on the stove with some water and whatever my like whatever my gut is telling me to put in there, whatever my intentions are, like aligning what I put in with that.
00:37:46
Speaker
I just love a little summer pot. And it makes sure your house smell so fucking nice. Yeah, it really does. It Summer pots are one of my favorite things. So if you're part of our super cast and you are subscribed as a charmed one you get a monthly...
00:38:02
Speaker
printable grimoire page. And one of our recent ones was winter summer pots because i made a winter summer pot. So i was like, this would be a good grimoire page. Yeah.
00:38:14
Speaker
Yeah. So there you go. Literally, it's one of my favorite things. Makes your space smell nice. Depending on what you use, it could be very cleansing too. 10 of 10 recommend.
00:38:26
Speaker
um And then herbal incense blends because Instance sticks are nice and I do prefer them because they're, you know, they're just easier. You just light it, stick it in its little hole and let it do its thing if you're not walking around smoke cleansing.
00:38:40
Speaker
But if you really want to like kind of connect with it, Put your like figure out what corresponds to your intentions. Get those herbs, blend it together, make a nice little like herbal blend, burn that over a charcoal disc in your cauldron or in like a fire safe container. um And that also makes it smell nice.
00:39:03
Speaker
And it's a way to smoke cleanse. um And then kind of, you know, I already talked about it a little bit, but herbal infusions for washes.
Refreshing Altars for Spring
00:39:11
Speaker
I will make a little jar essentially it's just a tea because I put it in hot water. i let it like infuse like a tea would.
00:39:21
Speaker
And then I add that to my like mop water. Or, you know, if I'm washing my doors, I just use it to wash my doors or my windows or whatever. And that's just such an easy way to like add a little bit of magic to that mundane.
00:39:35
Speaker
And then, you know, we've said it a million times already on the podcast and in this episode, but just opening all the doors and windows and pushing all that stagnant energy out. Top tier in my book.
00:39:48
Speaker
And I think even just if you don't even you're like, I don't even want to fucking like do any of this. I don't want to do um any of this or I'm not feeling like it or you're finding not finding the motivation to do it.
00:40:01
Speaker
yeah Just opening up your windows and your doors can motivate you to finish anything that you start. It really does. I don't know what it is about that that just like really energizes a space to me. like I'll open up my windows and then I come back in that space and it's a whole new space. like yeah It's just like charged and like not stagnant, which obviously that's the point, right? But like, it just feels better. You can, yeah that's like a ah change that you can physically feel when you walk into it.
00:40:34
Speaker
And so maybe you are having trouble reconnecting to your craft too, this could even be a way to motivate you as well. um Yeah. Yeah. And then lastly,
00:40:47
Speaker
um One thing that I wanted to mention is like the spring altar refresh. And so if you haven't used your altar in a while, this is a perfect time to just clear off everything, wipe it down, dust off everything or clean up like your cauldron if you still have like old so like spell remnants there.
00:41:06
Speaker
And reset up your altar and use, maybe this could be a time too, where you're like, okay, I've cleaned up my house. I've energetically you know cleansed my space by opening up the windows. I've wiped down my altar.
00:41:20
Speaker
Maybe you should go for a walk and try and find some elements that are naturally occurring where you're at to use on your altar to that represents spring to you, that represents renewal and rebirth and and all of that.
00:41:33
Speaker
um And then one thing that I do, um because I don't think I'm a hoarder, but you know and I don't have that much, so I don't think I'm a hoarder, but I will save some of the things. like If it's something that can be saved and isn't going to you know rot or go bad, I will save things that I foraged over the years, and then I will i have them in specific bags that, you know, one's for spring, one's for summer, one's for fall, one's for winter. And then whenever I refresh my altar, i will go back to some of the things that I've used maybe a couple years ago, my spring altar and pull that out.
00:42:09
Speaker
And, um, it's, it's so nice to do that too, just to change it up and it will motivate you to maybe even do some spell work as well. Yeah. I love that.
00:42:20
Speaker
I, I, We used to kind of, not necessarily like in an altar way, but like we had our dining room table where Anthony and both would spend time like making the the centerpiece of the table fit the season. ah So he went out to the store and he saw something like whether it was like cinnamon sticks or like the cinnamon scented pine cones or something like he'd pick it up for like Christmas or fall or, you know, like just little things that like made that space just seasonally make us happy.
00:42:53
Speaker
And then like, it was more like when we sat down at dinner, it was, it fit that theme. So not necessarily like magical or altar, obviously, but you could do that with any space in your home.
00:43:05
Speaker
If it's like, you just need something that's going to give you like a little serotonin. We can all use a little serotonin right now, right? Exactly. Yeah. Well, then i I think I disagree with you. I do think that it's completely magical and can be an altar-like space. Like having – considering oftentimes – and we've talked about this before. Some of – a lot of the witchcraft that you do is in your kitchen.
00:43:29
Speaker
is. And so incorporating your dining room table into that and it being like a ah type of altar, you know what I mean? Yeah. i think Yeah. It is an altar. girl. I guess so. much i guess I never thought of it that way. Like it was always just like a little boost of serotonin, but it is true. It is. Yeah. And it charges that

area. And then you sit down with people that you love the most in that space.
00:43:55
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Love it. That obviously isn't everything that you could do for spring cleaning. These are just some of our favorites. Yes. These there are our our favorites. And yeah if you have a favorite spring cleaning method um that gets you into that ritualistic space, let us know because yeah we we love to hear it.
00:44:18
Speaker
We love to hear from you guys. And tell us also, after you listen to the outro, of course, what'd you think of the outro? Do you like it? Is it shit? No, I'm just joking because it's amazing. It's been a long time coming. Like,
00:44:33
Speaker
When your husband tells you, when are you going to update your intro? I realize, oh. we Do we need to do that? Do we need to do that? It's been over for four years. Like, do we really need to do that? Maybe. me Well, we like it.
00:44:50
Speaker
Yeah. I feel like it turned out pretty good. Yeah. You're stuck with it now, probably for another four years. There you go. We'll change in four years. Yeah. Yeah. If you have ideas for four years from now, let us know.
00:45:04
Speaker
We'll add it to our list. Yeah.
