What is Sex Magic?

00:00:16
Speaker
So get in witches for a not safe for work episode on sex magic.
00:00:50
Speaker
So this girl posted on some of the, the garage sale pages in Okinawa, this Facebook page called wondering Daisy spiritual essentials.
00:01:00
Speaker
And I was like, what is this? And there's like a bunch of pictures and like I love this. And so I go to her page and I'm just like, well, she's selling a Aries bundle that she's curated for airy season. I'm going to get that. And then she does her own like, like spell herbs, like in like little jars.
00:01:24
Speaker
And she was selling like sets of those. Oh, hell. Yeah. So yeah so $85 later. um But it's so beautiful. I'll have to show you pictures because yeah took pictures of it literally. So I went and talked to her and I was asking her, like how long have you been here? Has this always been a thing? cause I just saw you and she's just like, no. you know Obviously, I've been on my like spiritual journey for a while.
00:01:52
Speaker
And when we moved here, I was just like, there's no metaphysical shops here. There's no place to really buy anything that I would use. The only thing that's out there is like Amazon. And she's like, and I don't really want to support Amazon.
00:02:05
Speaker
So she's just like, going to just do my own thing. So she like buys from these small businesses and then will buy in batch from them. And then like different small businesses, she'll put kind of basically put them together to create like different like sets and bundles and like sell them. Yeah.
00:02:21
Speaker
And I'm just like, I love this. And so um for the Aries set, like I think it it came with like oh it came with this bracelet. um And i don't even I didn't even like read into it much. So I don't even know what exactly is on this bracelet. I should probably ask her.
00:02:39
Speaker
And so it came with a bracelet, a journal, tea light candles, two dressed candles specifically for Aries season. this beautiful crystal candle holder, incense, like all this stuff, so much shit that I was just like, wow, this is a really good deal for what I paid.
00:03:00
Speaker
And then on all of the little herb bottles, she has like listed like the herb obviously, and then what it can be used for. And I'm just like, Oh my That is so cute.
00:03:11
Speaker
So cute. And she does intuitive tarot pulls as well, like with all of your orders. That is so cute. That is really cute. it's like I'm really happy that she's like right down the street too. Because I'm just like, well, please don't PCS before the end of 2026. Because going to need you. You have to stay here as long as I do.
00:03:30
Speaker
Yeah. So she seems cool. So if you're in Okinawa and you're listening to this and you're wondering, where can I buy some incense? Check out. Yeah. Wondering Daisy. said something like that. Yeah. Okay.
00:03:42
Speaker
Yeah. So really sweet. Mm-hmm. I need to find something like that out here. I know. Yeah. I'm just like, Oh, you would think there would be more.
00:03:56
Speaker
Yeah. i feel like in Germany, not so much like there's crystal shops, but they're not like witchy shops. It's like there's some stones. That's how it was in England too. Like it wasn't like, I would see a crystal shop and I'm like, Oh cool. But it's like,
00:04:12
Speaker
actually we make jewelry yeah like here are these like super expensive like bookshelf crystals and it's like yeah no it's not what I'm thinking of but no that's why when we went to Scotland Scotland is super witchy i loved it I was like ah we hit like three different witchy stores in a day but yeah I was like this is amazing I feel like they're like in England itself like there's I'm I know that there's a couple like down by like the Glastonbury area yeah there was one in Norfolk that I went to that just it was
00:04:46
Speaker
nice but it was very small and very overpriced yeah so it still kind of felt like because it's not like the states where it's like you have all these options and yeah are places that like it doesn't matter i mean there's some places where obviously there's not one but like for the most part you can kind of find one yeah so I just assumed that in England it would be like that and it's not at all and I'm saying yeah shit and there really isn't that here The only time here, like in Germany, that we find anything like that is during the middle alt mark.
00:05:21
Speaker
What do we call them in America? Oh, like the Renaissance Spears and re re ah festivals and stuff that you do. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like my brain, once I learn things out here, my brain's like, forget the American version.
00:05:37
Speaker
I do that. Like, I'll be talking to like Alexis and I'm like, what is the word? And she's like, what are you trying to say? And I say it in German. I'm like, this is the German word. And she's like, that's not helping me. Yeah. don't speak German. My brain said it doesn't want to speak the American words.
00:05:51
Speaker
Yeah. and I forget the American sayings all the time now. And I'm like, oh, oh no. Yeah. yeah English is my first language. I promise. yeah Have you guys watched The White Lotus?
00:06:06
Speaker
No. Oh, you've got to watch it. It's so good. We watched the first season last weekend and the second season this weekend.
00:06:18
Speaker
It's really good. Yeah? Yes. It's on HBO. Do you have HBO? Yeah, I have Julia's HBO. Okay. Okay. You got to watch it because I need somebody talk.
00:06:29
Speaker
I need somebody to talk to you about it. Okay. It's so good. I will add it to the list. Yes. Our forever long list because we never get to watch anything together. Right? Yeah.
00:06:40
Speaker
Well, hopefully soon that was going to change. yes No, it will change soon. Like it is changing. he already has this new job. We're putting it out there. He has it already. Exactly. He's already got it.
00:06:52
Speaker
So you'll be watching it next week. That's what I'm hoping. Yeah.
00:06:59
Speaker
yeah ah But we're not talking about shows and witchy stores. Although I love talking about witchy stores. We sure are not. What are talking about today?
00:07:11
Speaker
We're talking about sex magic. We're getting down and dirty. oh yeah. Like straight up. Like straight up. Not for children. All right. So before we begin this episode, we want to acknowledge that today's episode covers the topic of sex magic.
00:07:28
Speaker
We understand that

Historical Roots of Sex Magic

00:07:30
Speaker
for some, discussions around sex can be sensitive or even triggering, especially for those who have experienced trauma. If this topic feels like something you're not ready to engage with right now, we completely understand and we encourage you to prioritize your well-being.
00:07:47
Speaker
Take care of yourself. We'll be here for you next week. All right. So... Sex magic is the practice of channeling sexual energy through ritual. This energy is incredibly potent, capable of transforming our experience of reality because it is immersive, euphoric, deeply penetrating, possibly literally,
00:08:11
Speaker
seductive, intoxicating, and undeniably powerful. It's the fusion of these energies that invokes the force of creation itself. sex magic moves along the currents of desire, arousal, orgasm, and resolution.
00:08:26
Speaker
Julia Monk of Saged explains that practicing sex magic often leads to greater self-love and acceptance while also fostering a more inclusive way of connecting with others.
00:08:39
Speaker
She emphasizes that when we experience passion and awe, we deepen our connection, not just to ourselves, but to everyone and everything around us.
00:08:50
Speaker
And in that space, anything becomes possible. I love that. Right? That's beautiful. Oh, we love that, Julia Monk. um So...
00:09:01
Speaker
Sex magic is also the exploration of the connection between our physical desires and our inner creative energy. And it can enhance our manifestations and intentions by harnessing our natural life force.
00:09:15
Speaker
And it uses our sexual energy to manifest intentions, enhancing our spiritual awareness, and it helps us to achieve success. personal goals. Sex magic is one of the most potent sources of energy available, especially when consciously directed toward a specific desire.
00:09:33
Speaker
While some may view this as a taboo topic, it's important to recognize that sex magic has been practiced across many cultures for centuries. And here's just a few examples.
00:09:44
Speaker
The ancient Egyptians deeply valued sexuality, as reflected in their art, their poetry, in hieroglyphics, myths, aphrodisiacs, and even love spells, all of which have been uncovered by archaeologists.
00:09:59
Speaker
Sexuality wasn't just a part of daily life. It was woven into their spirituality, believed to strengthen the etheric body, deepen their connection to the divine, and ensure a blessed afterlife.
00:10:12
Speaker
And I was reading about ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and it said as well that sex magic and sacred sexuality was tied to fertility cults and deities like Ishtar, Hathor, and Osiris.
00:10:25
Speaker
And there were some rituals themselves that involved priestesses engaging in sexual rites, um which I didn't go too far down that rabbit hole, but it happens.
00:10:36
Speaker
In an article that I found on Refinery29 of all places, um this person named Donald Craig was quoted saying that while sex magic is popular among witches now, it also has ancient roots.
00:10:50
Speaker
In the earliest days, it was clear that sexual practices and sex magic were far more widespread and accepted than they are today. Evidence of sex magic was found to have been practiced in ancient Greek, in Rome,
00:11:05
Speaker
India and China before both sex and magic became taboo. um And at that point, it was you know move those practices were moved to private spaces.
00:11:17
Speaker
Sex magic has its roots in Tantra, and it gained popularity in the 19th century through the teachings of Ida Craddock, Aleister Crowley, and Maria de Nyglauska, think is how you say that name. I'm not 100% sure.
00:11:33
Speaker
Oh, we haven't heard about her yet on the podcast. now like No, but have talked about Ida Craddock and we have talked about Alistair Crowley, obviously. Right. Yeah. And I'm going to mention him in little bit. um So, but going back to Tantra, in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, Tantra teaches that sexual energy can be harnessed for spiritual enlightenment.
00:11:56
Speaker
And it often involves prolonged states of connection rather than just focusing on climaxing, which is really interesting. um So if you are interested in that aspect, I definitely recommend going and researching it a bit more.
00:12:10
Speaker
And as far as Aleister Crowley, he practiced and taught sex magic as a way to achieve higher states of consciousness. And he wrote about this extensively in Thelema. And if you are interested in learning learning more about that, we have definitely talked about that on the podcast.
00:12:27
Speaker
So go back and check that out. um And then also in the little history bits, I found this reference as well um to Paschal Beverly Randolph, who was a 19th century African-American occultist and spiritualist who wrote about using sex as a way to heal and for manifestation and for empowerment. And from what I was reading is he's one of the first people to actually write about that like in this time period.
00:12:58
Speaker
And I'm just like, that's interesting because I've not heard of this person before. yeah um So we'll definitely have to add him to our list of occultists for this year because I know that we you know are going to be going back to some of those episodes in the near future.
00:13:14
Speaker
And then the Ordo Templi Orientis or the OTO o was a secret society that incorporated sex magic into its teachings for magical and spiritual transformations.
00:13:26
Speaker
We've also talked about them on the podcast. It was in one of our occultist episodes. I don't remember which one. Yeah, but it's it probably is the same one when we talked about Alistair Crowley.
00:13:38
Speaker
Maybe. Well, there was a few. think this one, it was one of our female occultist episodes. I just don't remember was tied to. I can't remember who it was, but like Because there were some females who female who also followed Aleister Crowley followed his teachings and yeah and did all of that. So just go back and look. Maybe start with Aleister Crowley episodes and then kind of like work your way through it. And then you'll find it eventually. You'll find it. um we
00:14:09
Speaker
I mean, this is like 152 episodes so far. so Yeah, I forget. I've done a lot. Yeah. So and lastly... ah Just to tie up the little history portion of this episode, there's also teachings of sex magic in Kabbalah and tying it with alchemy.
00:14:31
Speaker
There are some Jewish esoteric and alchemical traditions that discuss divine unions of blending and balancing masculine and feminine energies as a way to gain wisdom and even spiritual transformation. so Very interesting because you don't hear about that whenever you're now learning about different religions.
00:14:50
Speaker
No, for sure. By embracing sex as a ritual and channeling magic through your body, you can manifest your desires, cultivate self-love and acceptance,

Ethical Practice in Sex Magic

00:15:00
Speaker
awaken your senses, and of course, indulge in joy and pleasure.
00:15:05
Speaker
Nurturing the elements of your sexual nature and embracing your body as a conduit for magic allows you to align with the very essence of creation. You're not separate from it. You are an active participant, a co-creator.
00:15:19
Speaker
Your body is a vessel of magic and flowing with the energy of the elements. And I found this quote by Rachel Abrams. I believe I found this on the Sage website, if I remember right.
00:15:31
Speaker
But she said, the more fulfilled you are sexually, emotionally, and spiritually, the more energy and joy you will have to share with everyone in your life. And I thought that was so cute.
00:15:43
Speaker
That is cute. Right? At its root, though, sex magic is simply using orgasms as the energy source for your magical practice. Boom, boom, boom. Episode done.
00:15:56
Speaker
no and So that's it. No, that's it. Now that we've gone over some of the basics and the history, let's talk about it in practice. So sex magic, just as a little disclaimer here, it doesn't have to be this massive taboo topic.
00:16:11
Speaker
And there are many different ways to engage in this practice, depending on where you are in your life and if you have a partner or not. If this is something that you're interested in practicing, be aware that as you start to explore the power of sex, you might feel discomfort, whether from shame, from past trauma, or deep-seated conditioning.
00:16:31
Speaker
um And if that resonates with you, take your time, move at your own pace, and if it' and if triggers arise, honor them. Give yourself permission to pause, seek support, and navigate this journey in a way that feels right for you.
00:16:45
Speaker
One of the biggest barriers to sexual empowerment is a lack of information and safe spaces for open curiosity. But know that resources do exist. There are sex therapists and coaches, sexological body workers who teach somatic sex education, books, courses, and retreats that are all dedicated to both healing and discovery.
00:17:09
Speaker
But the point of practicing this type of magic is to expand our understanding of sex, reclaim its power, and embrace the mystical experiences that fuel our growth, our transformation, and awakenings.
00:17:22
Speaker
You should acknowledge any traumas or shame or discomfort that you carry and welcome healing into your body, your heart, your mind, and your spirit. You can then use this energy to manifest your desires and initiate healing throughout the process.
00:17:37
Speaker
Before we begin to talk about sex magic really in practice though, outside of just like these beginning things, it's important to discuss some ethical considerations that you should absolutely be thinking about.

Techniques of Sex Magic

00:17:49
Speaker
And so if you have a partner Consent is massive. So your partner should be fully aware of what you're doing and consenting as well. And as far as intentions go, be mindful of those intentions. So your intention should be respectful of your personal boundaries and directed toward positive and ethical goals. So especially if you are incorporating a partner, you just want to make sure that A, they know and B, that they are understanding of the situation because...
00:18:18
Speaker
The last thing you want to do is put somebody in a situation that makes them uncomfortable, especially when you're doing something as intimate as having sex. Yeah. The basic outline of practicing sex magic is that you need to set your intention or your goal.
00:18:32
Speaker
And this can be literally anything that you're trying to manifest or work towards. And throughout the entire act, you need to keep that goal or that intention in your mind as clearly as you can.
00:18:43
Speaker
Once you reach the brink of orgasm, you release the energy during your own release, and then you send that energy and intention out into the universe. After orgasming, you should let your intention go and allow the universe to do its thing.
00:18:57
Speaker
And I was reading that a recommendation to help keep your intention or goal present in your mind throughout the process was to either like print or draw images of those intentions and have them on a wall or like somewhere near where you're practicing so that you can look at them because like I was like reading some of this stuff and I was like I don't know my brain can barely like keep what I'm doing on a normal thing like if I'm getting it on i sure as hell I'm gonna struggle with like yeah all right trying to manifest this absolutely yeah and that kind of goes into one of the foundational techniques that I'm gonna mention so
00:19:36
Speaker
you could also do a sigil. And so if you created a sigil based on that intention, something to remind you of that, then you can charge that sigil as well with your sexual energy. So whether that be you laying on that sigil or having it next to you, whatever. So obviously, if you don't know what a sigil go back and listen to that episode.
00:20:00
Speaker
We have an episode want about this. But for sigil charging with sexual energy, this includes creating a sigil to represent your desire, whether that be something related to, i mean, it could be anything. it could be related to wealth, prosperity, confidence, healing, whatever the fuck you want.
00:20:15
Speaker
And then you then engage in the sexual activity while focusing on that sigil. And at the peak of arousal or even during orgasm, release the intention into the universe. And this can be as easy as visualizing the intention activating.
00:20:30
Speaker
There are some other methods to releasing the intention into the universe as well. And this can include burning the sigil. Please be safe though, because the last thing you want to do is ruin your sexy time because you didn't properly prepare for so it. gonna you know Just a little disclaimer out there.
00:20:49
Speaker
um And then I was reading that you could also anoint the sigil with fluids. ah which is all I'm going to say on this episode about that. and something Use your imagination on what fluids I can be referring to.
00:21:03
Speaker
um You can even practice orgasmic manifestation, which in doing is much like what Tiffany said. So it's important, first of all, to set a clear intention before engaging in either self-pleasure or sex.
00:21:19
Speaker
And during climax, focus entirely on the intended outcome. So this would go back to, especially if you had something that is reminding you of that intention on your wall or whatever, maybe you have a really great memory and you can like you know think about two things at once.
00:21:35
Speaker
um Could not be me. Could not be me, yeah. But focus on that intended outcome, visualizing yourself already achieving the goal as you climax,
00:21:46
Speaker
And then i was reading about this as well. And this goes back to obviously tantra and Taoism and it's breath work and energy circulation. So this technique requires you to focus on circulating the energy through your body using rhythmic breathing.
00:22:04
Speaker
And some of the practices involve drawing energy up the spine and cycling it between partners. And this method can be used with or without physical touch. i was also reading that as part of this type of practice, you should work to cultivate a deep intimacy with each of the elements.

Connection with Elements in Magic

00:22:23
Speaker
So both in nature and within yourself, um because it will awaken your senses, immerse yourself in their energy and it and then like let them move through you.
00:22:34
Speaker
And the more that you connect with the elements, the more they will respond in return, forming a relationship fueled by mutual longing and understanding. So going back to Julia from Saged, she shares that you should work to become intimate with the elements, explaining that air is going to be tied to your mental body.
00:22:54
Speaker
your spoken word, your breath, and your senses of both smell and hearing. And one example of how to become intimate with air was to sit across from your partner and breathe together, naturally allowing your breath rhythm to sync up, to smell your partner and let them get to know your smells, and to read erotica to each other, which I thought was kind of funny.
00:23:16
Speaker
Next for fire, This is going to be your nervous system, um your passion, pattern, recognition, relationships, heartbeat, and sense of sight.
00:23:28
Speaker
For fire, you and your partner should look into each other's eyes without words, fill your nervous system alongside theirs and your heart along their heart, and look at each other naked while speaking what you see and what you love about them.
00:23:41
Speaker
Water is tied to your emotional body, blood, tears, sweat, saliva, your sexual juices. That's all I'm going to say to that one.
00:23:53
Speaker
I was like, how do I say this? yeah And your sense of taste. um And she recommends that to become intimate with the element water that you and your partner should kiss, lick, nibble, and taste each other.
00:24:07
Speaker
um For earth, that's going to be tied to your physical body. so like skin, bones, sinew, and your sense of touch. To become intimate with the element of earth, you and your partner should touch each other in imaginative and playful ways.
00:24:21
Speaker
So using things like feathers, crystals, warm oils, ice, fruit, and chocolate, just to name a few examples. And then to ether, this is your spirit, you um the intangible, the highest, deepest essence of life, and that's in and around you and your sense of being.
00:24:42
Speaker
And connecting and growing intimate with all of the other elements is how you become intimate with ether or spirit.

Empowering Through Solo Sex Magic

00:24:48
Speaker
um Spirit is in and around all of your experiences with the other elements.
00:24:54
Speaker
So it's probably no surprise, but when it comes to sex magic, there's a deep belief in the power of being naked. So stripping away our clothes allows us to shed shame, limiting beliefs, societal conditioning, and expectations.
00:25:10
Speaker
It's the power of vulnerability, leaning into uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. It's in this space that we can truly see ourselves and be seen for who we truly are.
00:25:21
Speaker
When you practice sex magic, you strip down, not just physically, but metaphorically. So revealing pure, raw truth. You open yourself to the powers of the elements and the forces of creation.
00:25:33
Speaker
You allow life itself to move and touch you in its most intimate form. And one of the easiest ways to practice sex magic, obviously, is to fly solo, if you know what I mean.
00:25:45
Speaker
So for this, you need to make sure that you're setting your intentions and being fully accepting of yourself. Honor what turns you on and let your body build on that while you amplify those feelings with touch, sound, and movement.
00:25:58
Speaker
And remember to connect with the elements throughout this process. And I was reading that masturbation can be used in sex magic to channel energy toward your own personal empowerment, healing, and manifestation. So like, you know, you don't need a partner.
00:26:13
Speaker
and that's fine. Oh, you have all the magic you need right inside of you. and we say that all the time anyways.

Celibacy and Energy Conservation

00:26:19
Speaker
Yeah. You are the magic. You are the magic. And so speaking of sex magic, I mean, we definitely have to touch on celibacy and abstinence because this can be another method in practicing sex magic as a way to store energy.
00:26:32
Speaker
And this goes with the belief that abstaining from sex and masturbation for a period of time can help build energy for a later magical working or purpose. And there are some techniques that ask to avoid sexual simulation for weeks you know to conserve your essence before you do a specific like you know and specific ritual or whatever.
00:26:53
Speaker
And if you're a man, there are also techniques online that detail the practice of semen retention, which is where you can practice having a non-ejaculatory orgasm where you don't release anything, if you know what I mean. And in some beliefs, semen is full of nutrition and contains a life force.
00:27:12
Speaker
And for those who are over the age of 50, belief here is that the less you ejaculate, the higher life force energy you contain within your own body. And there's a lot more to that in our references and our show notes. So please take a look at that if you're interested.

Resources and Episode Wrap-Up

00:27:27
Speaker
But there is this, you know, growing belief that if you abstain, you can reserve your energy and then you can expel it later um to have like more of a forceful energy to use, which is interesting.
00:27:45
