It's the first stage of gestalt language development. And so if we try to, or anybody tries to extinguish it, it not only says to the child that they're wrong, right but it just stops that language development in its tracks.

And the first thing DIR tells you is if you're playing with your kid and you're trying to do a little bit more of a formal DIR session, you're going to mimic their sounds. You're going mimic it because that helps them understand that what they're saying is valid.
