the_popcorn_podcast
Welcome back everyone to the Popcorn Podcast. I'm Tommy Carista, alongside my co-host Ryan Fran, and we are here to talk about episodes six and seven of HBO's House of the Dragon season two. We got ah only one more episode this season and it's ah it's all coming to a head now and very excited. And and especially after doing some Rereading a little bit on the novella to kind of like catch myself up to make sure I remember things correctly So because I wanted to really say something at the end of episode 7 to make sure I was getting things right But ah yeah, I'm super excited and before we get into that though gotta ask my co-host how he's doing Ryan. How's your day going?
00:00:42
Ryan

00:02:07
Ryan
Are we still, what are we facing the eighties ladies? So you said, what is it?
00:02:11
the_popcorn_podcast
It's fucking bitches.
00:02:14
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm kidding. I'm kidding. That was a joke. No, they were very they're very nice.
00:02:16
Ryan
was Beautiful graces, young women, Tom.
00:02:19
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, they're they're just better than us.
00:02:21
the_popcorn_podcast
They want a people's choice award. We did not.
00:02:23
Ryan
and um Is that right?
00:02:25
the_popcorn_podcast
My mom is texting me.
00:02:25
Ryan
Is it eighties ladies or is it seventies or what is it? Can't be sixties. That would be wild.
00:02:33
the_popcorn_podcast
What is my mom talking?
00:02:37
Ryan
I don't know. Is this something?
00:02:37
the_popcorn_podcast
My mom is so confused.
00:02:39
the_popcorn_podcast
My mom is watching the new plan of the Apes and she is so confused. She's just texting me like, what does this mean? What does this mean? I don't remember.
00:02:45
Ryan
Who's she talking about?
00:02:46
the_popcorn_podcast
What's the movie one time?
00:02:48
the_popcorn_podcast
ah She's is a good movie. um She's talking about right now. She's like, oh, my God, his dad died. Sorry if I just spoiled that for some.
00:02:58
the_popcorn_podcast
And she's like, I will bring them home now, father. And she's like, who?
Review of House of the Dragon Episodes
00:03:02
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm only so confused.
00:03:06
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, but I don't know. She can figure that out herself. I got to do the podcast, but.
00:03:09
Ryan
Did your mom not speak English?
00:03:12
the_popcorn_podcast
Not well.
00:03:13
Ryan
All right. Fair enough.
00:03:14
the_popcorn_podcast
ah House of the Dragon season two.
00:03:18
the_popcorn_podcast
Share the names.
00:03:19
Ryan
I know your mom very well.
00:03:20
the_popcorn_podcast
I love the sweetheart. But yeah, as we said, there's a these a light.
00:03:24
the_popcorn_podcast
We have two these two episodes to review, and then we have just the finale left until we have to go wait for season three of the show. So in this this episode, first, we're talking about season two, episode six, so small folk with few options left for near embarks on a risky venture while aiming to take steps to reshape the green, the green council. And I really enjoyed this episode. I mean, I really enjoyed the entire season. I think House of the Dragon is probably the the best or the second best show on television. It's got to be this or the bear for me. Which is really, it's really hard to compare them because they are drastically different television.
00:03:59
the_popcorn_podcast
But ah yeah, no, I really enjoyed the episode. It's been a while since I watched it because we either take a while to do this episode, but I do have my notes, of course, like I do for every episode. ah The episode starts off with the last the last army arrives and they want to send a raven to his brother who works on the councils that they have been ready to march. And cool thing, they got a fucking lion on their side. It's pretty dope.
00:04:22
Ryan
I also want to be clear that this, this is the first time that I realized that it's Thailand on the council and not just je and not Jason that's on the council.
Character Analysis and Plot Intricacies
00:04:30
Ryan
I've been calling Thailand Jason the entire time, just because I was like, that's the easier name. I don't know if he's going to show up again. So let's just, let's just stick with Jason, the easier name to remember. But, uh, I was wrong about that.
00:04:40
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm not gonna lie, I hadn't, I still had no idea what their names were until you just said it.
00:04:45
Ryan
Yeah. It's Thailand and Jason. You can't tell him apart.
00:04:49
the_popcorn_podcast
No, Ryan, I can't.
00:04:50
Ryan
Yeah, they're playing by twins.
00:04:52
Ryan
And by twins, I mean the same fucking dude. So it's not easy.
00:04:56
the_popcorn_podcast
Jason requests that Eamon come to help the army with Vhagar. This angered Eamon, Eamon wants the The other lines are to make an alliance with the the triarchy, which is pretty much a group of mercenaries. ah Oh, is that who that is?
00:05:12
Ryan
Yeah, it's the ones that they were fighting in the step zones in the first season.
00:05:17
Ryan
Yeah, it's the Triarchy, yeah. Damon cut the dude in half, so I don't think they're gonna really wanna fight with any Targaryens anytime soon.
00:05:21
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:05:25
the_popcorn_podcast
Ayman is annoyed by his counsel now telling Cole it's time for him to march on Harrenhal, which Cole does not like the idea. Ayman also said he's excited for the yeah opportunity to fight his uncle, Damon, which is something that he's been thinking about for years now. And then Ayman also removes his mother, Alison, from the counsel.
00:05:44
Ryan
Yeah, that was that was a big move. I like I like seeing Kristen kind of challenge even a little bit more, too, because like when he when he ah when even tells on a march on hair and all, he's like, yeah, we can't relax.
00:05:47
the_popcorn_podcast
you know
00:05:56
Ryan
You have a dragon. We got to fucking walk there. You're going to relax a little bit. We can't do this. um But yeah, I mean, that's that's a big move taking Allison off. I mean. It's terrible for her, but again, I think we mentioned this in episode five when she was, you know, she was trying to be the queen regent and everybody was like, you're a woman. You can't do that. And she was like, well, why not? It's like, I don't know, because the word that you started is because you're not letting a woman be queen. So no, they're not going to let you, a woman, be the queen regent, you fucking moron.
00:06:25
the_popcorn_podcast
Thank you.
00:06:28
Ryan
Um, so Allison went off and cried and she sucks. a lot now I got a dude I loved Allison like she was always a bad guy but very interesting character she kind of like still have been still an interesting character but these last like two episodes have just been like I'm realizing my wrongs is like yeah you could have done that last season and not had thousands of people die you know like this is this is your fault
00:06:53
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, but then you don't get the rest of the show.
00:06:56
Ryan
I understand that, but man, I hope she's just like, I hope she realizes this is entirely her fault.
00:07:02
Ryan
She's just sulking around like, Oh, poor me.
00:07:02
the_popcorn_podcast
It's not entirely her fault.
00:07:03
the_popcorn_podcast
She's just, it's just that she was stupid.
00:07:05
Ryan
It's, it's a lot of ways, a lot of ways her fault, which also like just a misunderstanding.
00:07:06
the_popcorn_podcast
It was heard, but she had no idea.
00:07:11
Ryan
So, you know, you can't like fully blame her. She really did believe that that's what Viserys wanted, but at the same time. Yeah. But at the same time, it's your fault. So womp womp. um I also loved, in that scene, Eamon's trying to get the Greyjoys to join. and Of course, the Greyjoys are just waiting to see what happens. They're not going to put a foot in that race until they know who's going to win, which is just it was just so funny to hear. Especially a backhanded kind of comment.
00:07:39
the_popcorn_podcast
I know what they do.
00:07:40
Ryan
but Man, that was funny to hear. yeah i do I'm excited to see what the Greyjoys do.
00:07:43
the_popcorn_podcast
I know exactly what's going to happen with the graduaries.
00:07:47
Ryan
cause they're If they can get the Greyjoys to join the greens, that'll be huge because they're kind of the only other people who can really even sort of challenge the Valyrians. So Corlys on Driftmark with his ships, not Seastone, it's Driftmark. I don't know if he knew that, Tom. um But yeah, so that that would be a huge alliance for the greens, but we'll see we'll see how that goes because the Greyjoys are not one for helping for the sake of being helpful. um
00:08:16
the_popcorn_podcast
No, they just- they want something in return.
00:08:18
Ryan
Yeah, absolutely. Or they just want the throne, which is the dumbest fucking I still can't believe that.
00:08:21
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:08:24
Ryan
What was it? What was the great joys name, the onset and Game of Thrones?
00:08:29
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I don't remember. He's in Harry Potter, though.
00:08:30
Ryan
I don't remember his name. Yeah, I cannot believe that he tried to take the throne. He called himself king in the war of five. It's unbelievable that he was like, if they're doing it, so can I, you know, like I have there's literally no no claim whatsoever.
00:08:43
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm king!
00:08:47
Ryan
It's like, you know, I'm going to take it. I'm king now. I have a little bit of the north and my sons in Winterfell right now. Fucking off. So I'm the king now.
00:08:57
the_popcorn_podcast
It's laid the the clip from family guy when everyone puts their hand in and the stick puts its hand in.
00:09:02
the_popcorn_podcast
The pirate, please don't use it. And he's like, no, no, not you.
00:09:06
the_popcorn_podcast
That's pretty much what that is.
00:09:06
Ryan
Not yet. Yeah. The Greyjoys fucking suck.
00:09:08
the_popcorn_podcast
But they did. They're the worst.
00:09:12
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Back, though, at Dragonstone Corlys stand.
00:09:13
Ryan
Your arm should've been cooler than that.
00:09:16
Ryan
Your arm's gonna keep cutting you off. Go for it.
Political Maneuvering and King's Landing Tensions
00:09:20
the_popcorn_podcast
Back at Dragonstone Corlys stands at the council's table. Looking at the pin for Hand of the King, Kai is still deciding that this is really what he wants to do. And finally, he does put the pin on.
00:09:34
the_popcorn_podcast
Hand of the Queen.
00:09:36
Ryan
There you go, buddy.
00:09:36
the_popcorn_podcast
And i I don't remember why I said this. All I said next is, in all caps, I fucking love Corliss. I think he has a good.
00:09:42
Ryan
I put in all caps, I put in all caps, Corliss the goat. That's all I put.
00:09:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, because I think he gives a speech or something I really like.
00:09:48
Ryan
We're on the same thing.
00:09:51
the_popcorn_podcast
But then, uh, Lord Darklyn arrives to speak with the council.
00:09:56
the_popcorn_podcast
Rhaenyra planned, uh... Huh? Oh, Rhaenyra has to plan- Rhaenyra speaks of how now she has to plan as if she's alone, not knowing if Daemon is working for her or for himself. Uh, then Darklyn is asked to try and claim the first dragon due to his great-grandmother being a Targaryen princess.
00:10:17
the_popcorn_podcast
And that, as I said, Sir Stephen Darklyn is a G.
00:10:21
Ryan
Yeah, no, he was a good guy. I was, I was so sad that Renier asked him to fucking, you know, just basically die. I mean, obviously, there's always a chance that a very, very, very slim chance that he could claim a dragon, and which would be huge for him and his, you know,
00:10:38
Ryan
be huge for the blacks in general, but also just for him and his family. His dad just died. And if he can, you know, him now being the Lord of, I mean, I guess he would be, no, he's not the Lord because he's King card, Queens guard. Um, so it wouldn't really matter. He wouldn't inherit the house. But if he went back as a dragon Lord, that would just give his house more power. Um, just like by relation. So it would have been huge for him, but, um, it doesn't exactly go super well. You know?
00:11:09
the_popcorn_podcast
I would not we're not there yet, though.
00:11:10
Ryan
He almost- We're not there yet. But fuck, you know?
00:11:16
the_popcorn_podcast
I have we're going to talk a little bit more about it in episode seven.
00:11:20
the_popcorn_podcast
So I have a question. I'm going to ask you something later on, but we'll get back to that ah now back in Harrenhal.
00:11:27
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Damon is yet another dream and sees his brother Viserys sitting on the throne asking him, asking if he truly did say an heir for the day.
00:11:36
the_popcorn_podcast
and Another great scene with Patty Considine, an absolutely ah amazing actor who I'm so excited again to see come back. And I really am enjoying the Damon dream stuff.
00:11:46
Ryan
Yeah, I mean, we've been saying it every episode that it it might be going on too long now, but they just keep stepping it up, I think.
00:11:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Because.
00:11:52
the_popcorn_podcast
It's so.
00:11:54
Ryan
And although I i will say it kind of reached the point in next episode, in episode seven, even though it was different. It wasn't, you know, as like this episode was kind of the last of like the dream stuff for the most part. There's a little bit of it, but.
00:12:06
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, the one thing is lady just like, I like the one seven a lot.
00:12:09
Ryan
Yeah, it wasn't bad, but I'm kind of glad it's done now because we've been saying every single episode, like, all right, let's wrap this up.
00:12:17
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, you, you, I'm okay if the dream things continue for the rest of the season.
00:12:17
Ryan
But at the same time, every single episode, they've been stepping it up. You've been, you've been, no.
00:12:25
the_popcorn_podcast
Just make it entertaining still, like me, good.
00:12:27
Ryan
I mean, it is now. That's, that's just Damon's story this season.
00:12:32
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I went too far. Yes, and they even believes the strings are causing. They even believes the strings are causing these dreams.
00:12:44
the_popcorn_podcast
What strings?
00:12:46
Ryan
I have no fucking idea. The strongs?
00:12:48
the_popcorn_podcast
The drinks, maybe. Yeah, I probably said that and I probably fat thumbed it.
00:12:53
Ryan
Yeah, the strongs. Because he chokes out.
00:12:55
the_popcorn_podcast
But the strong. Yeah, the strong. Yeah, that makes sense.
00:12:57
Ryan
Yeah, he chokes out.
00:12:58
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Damon, continue as I said in the last couple of days, Damon continues to unravel.
00:13:03
the_popcorn_podcast
du And I like that's why I think I like the dream so much. ah But then he speaks with the witch. She tells him that he isn't a player, but just a piece on the board. And I really love the line. I love the line they speak layer those who strive for it are the worst for it speaking about those who want to become king those who really tried to fight for it and become them even in real like true history that tends to be the case they end up being the worst ones for the position
00:13:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Which, again, comes that kind of idea comes up against Seven in a really good scene.
00:13:33
the_popcorn_podcast
At Dragonstone, they begin to they begin the claim for the dragon as Seasmoke arrives.
00:13:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Darklin, as he moves towards Seasmoke, stops and says, I've done it. And as soon as he said that, you knew it was not going to go well. Leaning to Seasmoke, burning him to a crisp. but
00:13:49
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. I mean, Seesmoke kind of goaded him into that though. He put his head down. and He was getting a little close. I i mean, I knew it wasn't going to happen, but even Seesmoke had me for a second. I was like, oh, this might like.
00:14:01
the_popcorn_podcast
See, no, I think, I think Seasmoke was okay with it and then because he stopped and she said you have to be quiet and like smooth.
00:14:07
Ryan
Yeah, he got cocky. Yeah. You got to speak Valyrian.
00:14:09
the_popcorn_podcast
yeah and He ain't got coffee.
00:14:10
Ryan
He started speaking English. He was like, oh, I've done it. Let's go. Seesmoke was like, no, get the fuck out of here.
00:14:16
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Coriolis picks Allen to be his first mate for when they leave. um Going from there, with the small folks speak of how they have had nothing while it keeps keep while the keep is having parties of gluttony and over drinking and all this stuff. Reneer speaks with ah one of her council members who speaks out online, which leads to her slapping the living shit out of this man. And it was perfect.
00:14:41
Ryan
Yeah, he deserved it.
00:14:43
the_popcorn_podcast
He did. Oh, no, he's 100% deserved it.
00:14:43
Ryan
He's been, he's been cooking that up all season so far.
00:14:49
the_popcorn_podcast
ah From there, King's Landing has begun to run out of fish. ah And now even the small folk are starting to get they're becoming they were restless less. So now things are really starting to unravel for them.
00:15:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Like you can you can see them getting more and more a little frustrated, starting to speak a little bit more freely against their king.
00:15:08
the_popcorn_podcast
Which is, for those who don't know, in Game of Thrones especially, it's not okay to do that. But even like back in medieval era, ah in real life you couldn't do that. If you spoke out you were going to end up hung, beheaded, or head on a stake somewhere.
00:15:21
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, they have a right to, and you have Reneeris spy, you know, putting everything out there and the the lady who was kind of in charge of the, um, of the, the brothel. Um, she explains, I mean, she was definitely put there by Alison Skurl, who had I don't know the name of, but the the lady in the red dress, it's been running around in the last couple of episodes.
00:15:43
the_popcorn_podcast
Masari's friend.
00:15:43
Ryan
Um, yeah, my sorry, his friend, I definitely told him to go in there and say that just, you know, spread these rumors, which aren't really rumors more and more. And it makes sense. Like if the guys that are supposed to be taken care of you in theory, taking care of you as, as the small folk in there, you're the leader. Are just having these feast every night and eating well and you know they got it I can't even imagine how much those dragons have to eat let alone vague are um And you have no food as the small folk and even the fish are starting to run out And that's that's kind of all you have especially
00:16:18
Ryan
um In King's Landing, it's it's a port city. So if the fish are running out, you're really fucked because with the blockade you're not getting anything else in and the fish are kind of all you have to sustain yourself. And since that's running out, you're going to run out of food soon and the royalty are not doing anything to help you. so I mean, the it's been the the thing with Masarya and Reneer, this episode, last episode. It's just a great play to to go over for the small folk and try to help them out, which we see later on in this episode. Fantastic play.
00:16:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Great plan.
00:16:48
Ryan
Fantastic play by Reneer.
00:16:49
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:16:51
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then Lares goes to find Eamon, and he talks to Eamon about how he's going to need a hand. And Eamon kind of sees what Lares is trying to do and trying to be like, oh, you need a hand. Hint, hint. I'm here. ah Doesn't go his way.
00:17:07
the_popcorn_podcast
Eamon tells Lares to reach out to Otto Hightower, which got me very excited. i Thought we were going to see Otto in episode seven. We did not.
00:17:15
Ryan
Yeah, I did get excited though, when he said he wants, uh, he wants auto back because fuck man, he is. I love auto so much. He's, he's probably the best guy on the greens. Cause he is, he's still not good. Like he's, he's more so he's worse than Allison.
00:17:29
the_popcorn_podcast
He's evil.
00:17:31
Ryan
Yeah. But I think he's, he's more level headed than like Eamon than Aegon.
00:17:32
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:17:35
Ryan
He knows what to do.
00:17:36
the_popcorn_podcast
I don't know the level head.
00:17:38
the_popcorn_podcast
He's better at, he's the better at deciding when to go far.
00:17:42
Ryan
Yeah, he's he's better at politicking and he's more, he's, I think he is more level headed because he understands like, you know, we're going to be in charge.
00:17:44
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:17:49
Ryan
The high tower is going to, the Targaryen is going to be in charge, but they now have high tower blood. They're going to
Speculation on Future Episodes and Character Developments
00:17:54
Ryan
be in charge. My family's going to be in charge, but being in charge means keeping people happy too. And you can't you can't go hanging all the rat catchers. That's a terrible plague. because People are going to hate you. He understands the politics. And I think he would be a very good hand for anybody. He was a good hand for Aegon and he was such a good hand that Aegon didn't like him because Aegon's a fucking moron.
00:18:15
the_popcorn_podcast
He was great for Viscaris.
00:18:15
Ryan
He's going to be a good hand. Yeah, he was great for Viserys. I mean, he was good for Viserys. He, you know, tried to backhand him a little bit and he got kicked out and then he got kicked out again. And then, uh, yeah.
00:18:26
the_popcorn_podcast
think Didn't he get banished?
00:18:29
Ryan
He got sent back to the old town. Yeah. And then it was the strong, he was hand and Laris fucking killed him.
00:18:35
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, yeah.
00:18:36
Ryan
So Otto came back. And, uh, yeah.
00:18:42
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, moving.
00:18:43
Ryan
Otto's the best thing you can have, though, especially as far as the greens go. He's significantly better and he's just such a fun character to watch. Reese Ifins is fantastic as the character. So. I cannot wait to see him come back.
00:18:54
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:18:55
Ryan
Hopefully this season, hopefully next episode, episode eight finale, he comes back.
00:19:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, it's going to be a lot to do if they want to fit him into the finale.
00:19:04
Ryan
Yeah. I mean, even if just like at the end, cause I mean, obviously he's going to come back in season three, but I would love to see him in episode eight too.
00:19:12
the_popcorn_podcast
But no, I hope I do hope he's back and I do want to see more recycling, especially as auto. Uh, the King has now King Aegon has gained consciousness again. He's going in and out, but at least he's waking up a somewhat. Aemon goes to see Aegon. He asked him what he remembers, which Aegon responds with saying nothing. And I couldn't tell if he was lying or not, just because he sounds the same right now, no matter what he's saying, because he's so out of it. But then, uh,
00:19:42
the_popcorn_podcast
Eamon is kind of like fucking with him and kind of like shoving his finger in all his skin and that's got to feel very painful.
00:19:51
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Which was it Bela or Reyna speaks with Reneerah's son as they walk upon a burnt field of sheep?
00:19:57
Ryan
Uh, Raina. Raina's the younger one.
00:20:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Reyna is the one at the Vale.
00:20:03
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, yeah, OK, I can't remember.
00:20:06
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Yeah, Reyna speaks with the youngest. That'd be Aegon the third, right?
00:20:12
Ryan
the I guess? Is his name Aegon? Or is it Viserys?
00:20:17
the_popcorn_podcast
I thought she has a son a- Does she have a- she does have a young Aegon though, does she?
00:20:17
Ryan
One of the younger ones is named Viserys.
00:20:22
Ryan
Does she? She has two young kids with Damon.
00:20:24
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh no, Aegon the Third is on- Aegon the Third is a- a black.
00:20:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:20:31
Ryan
Yeah, I think. I don't remember. There's so many. And they're not really characters, at least at this point.
00:20:37
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, ah it's what it's i it might be Viserys, then it is.
00:20:38
Ryan
I know there's one named Viserys, but
00:20:42
the_popcorn_podcast
It's one of the sons. We're going to speak with the lady of the veil of how she is lied about how there is no drag while dragons left, which she responds with that. It has only been assumed for a long time, but now it seems that the dragon is becoming a little more.
00:20:56
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Fierce by good word back.
00:20:56
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. Which George R.R. Martin was not happy about. Not happy about.
00:21:03
the_popcorn_podcast
That is another dragon.
00:21:04
Ryan
He was not happy that there's a dragon in the veil. There is not supposed to be a dragon in the veil right now, apparently.
00:21:11
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, I don't. OK, but why does that matter? There's supposed to be more dragons in the show anyway, if you're going by the actual book.
00:21:18
Ryan
Yeah, but he's saying there's, but there shouldn't be any in the veil is his problem.
00:21:24
the_popcorn_podcast
George, shut the fuck up and finish your book, then you can explain that there shouldn't be none of them.
00:21:25
Ryan
Right. Yeah. That's, that's what everybody said. I don't, I don't remember exactly what the reason was that it shouldn't be in the veil.
00:21:29
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:21:32
Ryan
I forget what what else he said, but he was not happy about there being a dragon in the veil. But yeah, finish your book.
00:21:37
the_popcorn_podcast
Ben Affleck looks so goofy when he's in this movie, when he's not in the suit.
00:21:45
the_popcorn_podcast
ah But back. This would be at Driftmark. Quill is at Driftmark, right? He's not Dragonstone, technically.
00:21:55
Ryan
I don't remember where.
00:21:55
the_popcorn_podcast
Driftmark. It's wherever he is most of the time in the show.
00:21:59
Ryan
Yeah, Driftmark then, I guess.
00:21:59
the_popcorn_podcast
um Yeah, Driftmark. Alan shaves his head to try and hide his ah white gray hair. But we also learned that his friend, who I didn't realize was his brother until this episode, is also one of Chorus's bastards, Adam.
00:22:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Alan says it's time for Adam to stop wasting his life waiting for that moment and to just move on and be okay with that. Well, that kind of changes in a little bit. ah Back at Dragonstone, Reneer and Jace speak about an attempt to claim the dragon and a Reneer striking one of her council members.
00:22:32
the_popcorn_podcast
Jace adds Reneer with March about marching them in the battle herself. And that no matter what, that they cannot win this battle unless they have Damon and his dragon, which again is a very fair point. I i think it's true.
00:22:46
the_popcorn_podcast
I don't think they can win without Damon.
00:22:49
Ryan
No, especially with Caraxes.
00:22:49
the_popcorn_podcast
Even though Damon is going a little crazy.
00:22:51
Ryan
Now that Maylies is dead, Caraxes is the biggest dragon they have, I believe.
00:22:51
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:22:57
Ryan
Oh, yeah. As far as this episode goes, it is.
00:22:59
the_popcorn_podcast
yeah As far as this episode goes, Um, the blacks have sent food now to the small folk of King's Landing. And they, right away, it's getting them on right to their side. And I love, uh, we'll get more to the food delivery stuff in a second, but Allison is now with Aegon. And then she goes to speak with, uh, Helena asking if she wants to burn a candle for Aegon.
00:23:24
the_popcorn_podcast
News of Reneer's food delivery has been spread throughout throughout Kings Landing, kind of beginning to cause some violence between the small folk because as much as they're happy to gain food, they're still being now gluttonous with the food that they're getting.
00:23:37
Ryan
Yeah, I mean, it, there's still like, those boats can only carry so much food and can only feed so many people.
00:23:43
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:23:43
Ryan
So, and they're also still pissed at, um, at the greens. Cause Reneer had her flags on those boats. They know the food came from the blacks in Reneer.
00:23:50
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:23:51
Ryan
So there's still now they're extra met at the greens. Cause how can Reneer give them this food when she was, when she's, you know, on Dragonstone so far away and she's not even the queen, but she's still helping the small folk and Mikey and the greens help the small folks. So, I mean,
00:24:04
the_popcorn_podcast
I guess it's not that I guess I learned after in the next episode that Dragonstone and King Lear not that far apart.
00:24:10
Ryan
No, they're not that far apart.
00:24:11
the_popcorn_podcast
In my head, they were very far apart.
00:24:12
Ryan
Yeah. No, no, they're not.
00:24:13
the_popcorn_podcast
And I was watching the the end of the last episode like, oh, yeah, they're just not far.
00:24:17
Ryan
Yeah, no, they're not super far. And that that is one thing because Corlys goes from like Dragonstone to Driftmark back to Dragonstone in this episode, I think. I don't know if he goes back, but I was like, how fucking fast is this guy sailing that he's going that quick? But I i looked up the map and it's like right next to each other.
00:24:34
the_popcorn_podcast
It's I was going to say, that's like right next to it, isn't it?
00:24:36
Ryan
Yeah, they're they're not far at all. So it it makes sense for him to go back and forth relatively quickly.
00:24:42
the_popcorn_podcast
um And as Alison and ah Helena are leaving the the chapel, the church, whatever you want to call it, they began to surround them, a mob, and one of the small folk reaches out and has his hand cut off by one of the kings guard, which Allison tries to stop them from doing.
00:25:00
the_popcorn_podcast
And then the mob begins to chant long live clean Queen, Queen Reneira. which was really just I really did enjoy that whole sequence of them trying to like get away and you're kind of seeing the tables kind of turn on the blacks because this is this is something that they've kind of deserved like this the whole show really even yeah I'm sorry yeah the green I'm sorry um but like they haven't been good they haven't been keep they haven't been taking care of their people they've only cared for themselves which
00:25:08
Ryan
Yeah. I mean, I mean the greens. Yeah.
00:25:25
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, I agree.
00:25:29
the_popcorn_podcast
Fuck you. I hate that team. Lares goes to see Aegon telling him that he will never be whole again. He'll never be himself again. But Lars then tells him ah about the story of his birth, which is a really good scene. I keep saying Lars, Lares.
00:25:45
the_popcorn_podcast
And Lares also says that Aegon will now be underestimated, which will be his advantage against his opponents, which is a true thing now.
00:25:53
the_popcorn_podcast
They're all just going to assume he's nothing.
00:25:56
the_popcorn_podcast
and We go back again.
00:25:57
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I'm sorry.
00:25:58
Ryan
No, I just he's just got to use his brain more now, which is going to be incredibly tough for a gun because he's a fucking moron, but.
00:26:06
Ryan
But he's got he's got to figure it out, and and I think having Laris on your side. Obviously, Laris is playing his own game at this point.
00:26:11
the_popcorn_podcast
Thanks.
00:26:13
Ryan
I think Laris probably wants to be king in some way, but I think he's smart enough to realize that he's never going to be king. I think he just wants to be hand, or at least have a very significant piece of the power. um So siding with Aegon in this way, because you know once Aegon gets back up, he's never going to be 100% again. But once he gets back up on his feet as much as he can, it's a good thing to be in Aegon's good graces. Especially you know at this point, maybe he will make Laris his hand. um you know It's just a good play from Laris to be there supporting Aegon, just letting him know what he has to do. And maybe in the future, he helps him out and tries to you know teach him some things. And we'll see how that goes.
00:27:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Agreed. ah Back in Harrenhal, Damon again dreaming ah sees Viserys mourning the death of his wife. Damon holds Viserys and tells him that he's here for him now, which is, I think, what Damon wanted to do back then instead of what he actually did, which was going out and drinking and partying and not being there for his brother.
00:27:24
the_popcorn_podcast
Because I do think Damon regrets how he was, but at the same time, he's still a little asshole.
00:27:30
Ryan
Yeah, Damon is like, I think he's learning from these um from these visions, from these nightmares and stuff. I think he's learning a little bit, but he still has that attitude of you know being the best and being a Targaryen and being on top of everybody and being in charge even of Rhaenyra. He still wants the throne, but i think I think he's still learning a little bit, but not as much as other people would because he's still a pretty cocky dude. I don't think he's ever going to change. that significantly. Um, but it's, it's still good to see you the little things that are kind of changing in him and evolving.
00:28:06
the_popcorn_podcast
No, I agree. And then, uh, we learned that Lord Grover is dead and that Oscar Tully is now the Lord Paramount Oscar being the young boy, they'd come to see Damon before. which Damon was kind of an asshole to, uh, we learned that Alice Rivers tried to save the Lord, quote unquote, but to no avail.
00:28:21
the_popcorn_podcast
Uh, yeah, she killed him. That's why I say, dude,
00:28:24
Ryan
hell yeah dude Alice is a fucking dog dude that was awesome yeah
00:28:28
the_popcorn_podcast
dude I forgot so much about her. Like, cause I was like, I was when I started going back through it. Read it a little bit, I was like, oh shit, I forgot, you're like huge. I don't know, it doesn't seem like they're really following what happened with her.
00:28:42
the_popcorn_podcast
But again, I could be wrong. from but what My little refresher I did. It didn't look like they were going to do anything. um
00:28:50
the_popcorn_podcast
Corlys' other bastard son, as I had said, Adam, is chased by the is chased on the beach by Seasmoke. And he's then eventually cornered by Seasmoke and then it cuts away. Now back to Masarya and Rhaenyra as they speak about Daemon and how he may have raised an army he might have tried to now attempt to raise an army against her. We learn that Masara was molested and impregnated by her father. He then left her for dead, cutting her open, and now that she now she cannot bear any children. Which was, first off, just a devastating scene.
00:29:22
Ryan
yeah Yeah, that was that was tough Yeah Yeah,
00:29:24
the_popcorn_podcast
um Very dark. But going from there, ah this leads to Reneer and Masara having a moment of passion before they are interrupted to be told that Seasmoke now has been seen flying around with a rider. Reneer asks who it is. He doesn't know, and Reneer leaves to find out who the writer is herself. And that is the end of episode six of House of the Dragon.
00:29:46
Ryan
yeah so let's talk about We can talk about both those scenes because you know those have been the big topic of conversation as far as episode six goes.
00:29:50
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:29:56
Ryan
um Let's talk about Adam and C-Smoke first. why Why do you think that C-Smoke chose Adam?
00:30:04
the_popcorn_podcast
I think he just sensed something about him. I think there's something in his bloodline. That's all it is. i think that I think the dragons have a sense for that note.
00:30:12
Ryan
Well, yeah, the dragons only, yeah, they only allow target. Well, that's, that's the thing I was thinking too. Cause they only allow Targaryens to ride them. The Velarians are not a dragon riding. Um, yes.
00:30:22
the_popcorn_podcast
No, they're not dragon riders. No, i think I think maybe, and you learn kind of learned more about why maybe Adam got picked in the next episode.
00:30:28
Ryan
Maybe, but also like.
00:30:30
the_popcorn_podcast
But I just think it's through his heritage.
00:30:34
Ryan
I, yeah, I think so too, but I was still, I don't know. I, cause obviously the Valyrians are Valyrian family, but also the guy, I forget, I forget the name of the family, but the guy that, um, the guy on the council that were near smacks, he's also from a Valyrian family. So they're not dragon riders either. And they're obviously a lot less powerful than the Targaryens or the Valyrians, but. I don't, it has to be something other than just having Valyrian blood because the Valyrians aren't dragon riders.
00:31:05
Ryan
Corlys doesn't have a dragon. His brother didn't have a dragon. His kids had dragons because Rhaenys was a Targaryen and had a dragon.
00:31:12
the_popcorn_podcast
No, I think he has, I think he's some, I think he's a little bit Targaryen, Adam.
00:31:13
Ryan
So they were able to fly.
00:31:16
Ryan
You think he has a little bit, but then why doesn't he have it?
00:31:17
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:31:18
Ryan
Do you think he just never tried to
Debates on Heritage and Dragon Riding
00:31:20
Ryan
have a dragon? Which I mean, he totally could have just never tried, but yeah.
00:31:22
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, he never, it's not like he grew up around the idea of it being a possibility. Remember, the only people that really have dragons are the people that are giving them. And if you're just a small, a bastard who doesn't have, who really has dragons, though?
00:31:32
Ryan
I mean, not really, not really. Aiman wasn't given Vhagar. He went out and took him, took her.
00:31:40
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, he went out. But if you're just like, you wouldn't even think about that, I feel like.
00:31:46
Ryan
I think, I mean, a shot at being one of the most powerful people in the world.
00:31:52
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, but see, I feel like Aemon's a little different, though, because Aemon knows he can have a dragon.
00:31:52
Ryan
You kind of, you know, you go and get that.
00:31:57
Ryan
Yeah, absolutely. But it's also not guaranteed because Raina should.
00:31:58
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:32:00
Ryan
ah She tried tame Seasmoke and Seasmoke almost killed her.
00:32:03
the_popcorn_podcast
Twice.
00:32:04
Ryan
Yeah. She also was supposed to get big or, you know, obviously Eamon just stole it. Stole vagar from her. um Yeah.
00:32:11
the_popcorn_podcast
That's a good, that's a great episode when he, when he steals vagar.
00:32:13
Ryan
Yeah, it was a good episode. Yeah, but I think what I thought of when it first happened was that maybe since Seasmoke, Leonor was Seasmoke's rider, which also dragons can only bond with one person at a time.
00:32:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, that means Lenard died somewhere.
00:32:27
Ryan
So Leonor is definitely dead. Um, rest in peace, homie. Um, but I, I thought maybe he got Adam because, you know, he sensed a little bit of Lenore in there. You know, he just kind of sensed that Valorian blood and was like, this guy's close enough. Let's go with him.
00:32:47
the_popcorn_podcast
similar haircuts, even hair color.
00:32:47
Ryan
Um, yeah. different hair color, but yes, similar haircuts. Yeah, but I don't know, it's, it's one of those things that's not like, you know, it doesn't change how you think about the dragons, because maybe it is just a Valyrian thing instead of just a Targaryen thing. But as far as we've seen in, you know, House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, it's only been Targaryen, so you can ride dragons. So it's, um, I don't know. it It was kind of weird because he's not a Targaryen, but maybe, maybe there is some Targaryen plug, like far down that line that I just don't know about or, or something. I don't know.
00:33:29
the_popcorn_podcast
I mean, I have a feeling this, this show is very smart. Like it knows what it is. I think that they will.
00:33:33
Ryan
Is your mic plugged in all the way?
00:33:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Hello?
00:33:39
Ryan
Yeah, you're good. Just do me a favor. Don't hold the bottom of it. Cause I can hear it like wrangling the entire time. It sounds like you're strangling your microphone.
00:33:45
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, sorry. Is it better now?
00:33:46
Ryan
Yeah, just just hold on to the top.
00:33:50
the_popcorn_podcast
and Sorry. Um, ah what I'm saying.
00:33:52
Ryan
Yeah, I don't think it matters that much, but you know it was just kind of weird that he's not a Targaryen. As far as we know, he doesn't have any Targaryen in him. He's a Velary ambassador and he's able to get a dragon. ah just I don't know. It was kind of a weird thing that I... I didn't really get why why she's I maybe I get why she smoke chose him. You know, it's just the dragon choosing the guy. I don't know. That's fine. But him being able to claim a dragon or have a dragon claim him, I guess, in this in this context without Targaryen blood just kind of caught me off guard.
00:34:24
the_popcorn_podcast
who knows there's John Snoke, uh, oh no, John Snow is Targaryen.
00:34:29
Ryan
use of tararian Yeah.
00:34:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, I always forget about that. It's kind of a big part of the show.
00:34:33
the_popcorn_podcast
um Yeah, no. And I know ah the next scene that we want to talk about is the scene with Masarya and Rhaenyra, which I know that you don't not like.
00:34:44
Ryan
It just came out of nowhere for me.
00:34:45
the_popcorn_podcast
While I doesn't bother me all, especially.
00:34:46
Ryan
I don't, I don't mind it happening. ah It didn't bother me, but it was just like that just came out of nowhere. I was just caught off guard.
00:34:54
the_popcorn_podcast
But that happens, especially when like you're, you're both like, there's a lot of tension from just life. They're stressed that she just told a really sad thing. And she has.
00:35:04
Ryan
Yeah, but Renira didn't like her because she was
00:35:05
the_popcorn_podcast
the But then she's loved the last couple of episodes.
00:35:09
Ryan
Well, yeah, but she didn't like her because she was married to Damon first. And, you know, all that shit happened with Massard.
00:35:13
the_popcorn_podcast
And she also thought that she was a spy.
00:35:17
Ryan
Yeah, she hated her. And then all of a sudden it's like, Oh, you helped me do this.
00:35:21
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, but it didn't seem like but then that's what I like about the next episode that they didn't like nothing comes of it It's just that one moment You cuz you're a cynic you hate anything that's to do it any sense of love or romance passion I Know I'm more saying like you hate anything.
00:35:29
Ryan
yeah I don't know. It's just, I don't know. It just caught me off guard. It just felt very out of nowhere.
00:35:40
Ryan
That wasn't love. That was just passion. There was no love in that. That was just... Passion doesn't mean love. Always.
00:35:48
the_popcorn_podcast
That's like people kissing people holding it I
00:35:49
Ryan
That's not true. That's not true.
00:35:54
the_popcorn_podcast
you hate love and happiness.
00:35:58
Ryan
That's just not... That's not true.
00:36:01
the_popcorn_podcast
No, it does feel like i I really I liked it because it's a thing that happens with people. So um if they had kind of made it now that now she's like they're in a relationship all of a sudden, I would have been a little more like, well, where did this all come from? Like it was one moment. But the fact that they kind of just went right back to being normal, it's just whatever.
00:36:18
Ryan
Well, as far as we've seen, we've only seen one other episode since then. Maybe therere they're going to go back to it and be like, oh, I love you now.
00:36:26
the_popcorn_podcast
I don't think, I don't think that's where the shows go.
00:36:29
Ryan
No, I don't think so either. But it just felt very out of nowhere. And it it wasn't scripted either. It was Emma Dorsey's call. um She wanted to do it. So it's not a bad call.
00:36:38
the_popcorn_podcast
It's a good call.
00:36:42
Ryan
I get it. But i i don't I feel like it was just very out of nowhere for the plot. I don't think and don't think it helped the show plot-wise at all. I think it was just Emadarsi being like, Can I please make out with her? You know, like imagine if that was like a dude, like, I don't know, fucking Patty Constan. I was like, can I like make out with Emily Carey on cake? Can I please do that? Like, please? You know what I mean? That would have been weird. Or Olivia Cook. Can I be like, can I just just one thing? Can I just once can I please do that, please? No. OK, fine. Sorry. You know, that would that would have been weird, but I don't know.
00:37:21
Ryan
Not to say that the kiss is weird. I'm um backing myself into a corner that I don't want to be in and I don't even i don't even i don't even agree with what I'm saying.
00:37:25
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, this is not a good spot for you. i'm yeah
00:37:29
Ryan
i'm trying I'm saying the wrong thing that I don't mean. But it just felt so weird and out don of nowhere.
00:37:33
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I'm making a TikTok out of this.
00:37:37
Ryan
where Yeah, back to don't don't destroy me.
00:37:45
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, that's the end of it.
00:37:45
Ryan
I don't mean what I say.
00:37:48
the_popcorn_podcast
Ryan is not out like against anyone. That's not how he managed.
00:37:53
the_popcorn_podcast
Poor wording.
00:37:54
Ryan
I don't give a shit, but it just felt very out of nowhere for the for what was happening in the story.
00:37:57
the_popcorn_podcast
I get what you mean. um But yeah, that was the end of Episodes.
00:38:00
Ryan
I think a lot of people agree with me.
00:38:05
the_popcorn_podcast
That was the end for Episodes. I fucking hate you.
00:38:10
Ryan
Um, can I tell you, I'm not, I cut you up again.
00:38:10
the_popcorn_podcast
This is the end. Oh my god!
00:38:13
Ryan
I'm not, I'm not trying to cut you off. You're just like one second behind me. So I'm trying to talk when you're not talking, but the second I talk, you talk. This is not, this is not going well.
00:38:27
the_popcorn_podcast
That was the end of episode six. And um I'm not really good to talk about. i don't I'm not going to lie. I didn't take any notes on the end of the episode this week on House of the Dragon because now and I'm not going to try and talk about it because we're going right in in episode seven. There's no real point to even talk about it. But would you say that the show has pretty much stayed at the same quality the whole season and then jumped up like like it's been good to me like there has been no this in the show.
00:38:53
Ryan
Yeah, it's been it's been pretty level.
00:38:55
the_popcorn_podcast
And then the battle one go up a little bit. I'm right back to normal.
00:38:58
Ryan
Well, yeah, because just that's just because battles are fun. But I think, you know, most of these episodes have been pretty slow paced, like character character driven, not so much battle wise.
00:39:01
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:39:06
the_popcorn_podcast
It's definitely building, which I did.
00:39:08
the_popcorn_podcast
i I think I said last year in the finale, I didn't. This is not where I saw. This is not where I thought it was going to be at this point in the show.
00:39:15
the_popcorn_podcast
I thought we were going to be further down the line, but I'm kind of happy because I'll explain more once we get, I took, so I had some things I want to say at the end of the
00:39:24
the_popcorn_podcast
Uh, the episode seven part of this review. Um, but yeah, uh, we're going now into episode seven. So if you haven't seen it, please go watch it and come back. But, uh, this episode opens up where Reneer going to find Snee Snoke. Wow. That was bad English.
Power Shifts and Political Dynamics
00:39:41
the_popcorn_podcast
Reneer goes to find C smoke and who the new rider is.
00:39:43
Ryan
We're gonna find Snoke Emperor Snoke was it was it not Emperor.
00:39:44
the_popcorn_podcast
ah That was bad. My, but, uh, to find the new rider who we all know is Corliss' son, Adam.
00:39:58
the_popcorn_podcast
It was Corliss's bastard son, Adam, and I love that Adam right away just kneeled and it kind of took her near her back because she wasn't expecting that someone who had just claimed a dragon, especially Seasmoke, and he was very nice about it. He wasn't in any way trying to like tell her that he's like, oh, this is my dragon now and all this stuff. He was very much kind of like just as like surprised as she was that he has a dragon now.
00:40:20
the_popcorn_podcast
And I love that he did lie about who his father was. like It's no one of consequence, even though we all know his father's courtless.
00:40:27
Ryan
Yeah. I did love that he was like, you could kind of hear it in his voice. He was like, I didn't want this. I'm sorry. Like, he was like, this, this is scary to me too. I'm sorry. I don't want to be here.
00:40:40
the_popcorn_podcast
ah going And we all see that Rene is happy that Adam claims Seesmo, because now this is helping her. It's adding another dragon to their side.
00:40:50
the_popcorn_podcast
From there, we're back in King's Landing, where we see Allison speaks with the maester about losing her position at the council, and kind of like what Ryan's saying. She's very much like, hmm, I lost this, I lost that. And that kind of is, but at the same time, it's kind of making sense. She feels like she has no power all of a sudden. Like, now she's laid just the mother of the king. Like, there's nothing to, she just, yeah, womp womp, that's how I feel.
00:41:13
the_popcorn_podcast
About losing possession as he begins to clean out the cut that she had sustained during the riots.
00:41:19
the_popcorn_podcast
Aemon begins,
00:41:19
Ryan
Which is going to scar. I like that. I'm not trying to cut you off. I really hope you know this.
00:41:24
the_popcorn_podcast
I know.
00:41:25
Ryan
You're just talking like you're not giving me a second to talk.
00:41:26
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm sorry, I was going to.
00:41:28
Ryan
You're just. OK. No, I like I like that it's going to scar.
00:41:33
Ryan
It's kind of you know, Alison now has some blood in this game. more so than she'd like physically. She has blood drawn and spilled now. And it it also mirrors the cut that she gave her near in season one.
00:41:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Another great episode of the show.
00:41:50
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Aiman is sending now Kings guard that helps start the riot to the wall Which is kind of cool to kind of hear more about the wall because we got the one look at it early in the season Start the season and now we're kind of getting to see so she gets sent there Do we ever see Kings guard gets sent there in Game of Thrones?
00:42:07
Ryan
No, I don't think any well, um, well, he wasn't king's card, but jana slint was um The guy that john decapitates because he calls him out He's like, you know, you're not the lord commander bitch and then he cries and all that.
00:42:19
Ryan
That's a great scene. But um Yeah, he was the commander of the the city watch and go cloaks and then tyrian sent him to the wall So yeah, we don't see any king's card go but we've seen councilmen not he was on the council. Yeah, because he was in charge but Yeah, we've seen people of importance go to the wall in Game of Thrones, but not Kingsguard. Stop watching that bullshit. It's not real. They're divorced. Let it go.
00:42:45
the_popcorn_podcast
They had a good marriage though for Hollywood.
00:42:48
Ryan
For Hollywood, sure.
00:42:49
the_popcorn_podcast
There was a 15, 16 years.
00:42:49
Ryan
And then he went back to J. Lo. I know, but now you see every single video dude, every video of him like opening the door for J.
00:42:53
the_popcorn_podcast
That's crazy.
00:42:58
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, he even said about it.
00:43:00
the_popcorn_podcast
He's like, he's like, it's just my faith.
00:43:03
Ryan
I know he just looks miserable though.
00:43:04
the_popcorn_podcast
But suppose supposedly they're on the rock. This was their marriage is not doing very well anyway.
00:43:08
the_popcorn_podcast
He just bought like a $22 million dollar like house.
00:43:14
the_popcorn_podcast
Like for himself, not for both of them.
00:43:18
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah. Like, like he's like, people think that he's leaving.
00:43:19
Ryan
That's, that's so funny.
00:43:22
the_popcorn_podcast
Um, do
00:43:26
the_popcorn_podcast
i'm I'm holding out hope that him and Jennifer Gardner are going to get back together one day.
00:43:29
Ryan
That's never gonna happen. But
00:43:31
the_popcorn_podcast
They both said they still love each other, just that he had his demons. He had the battle he had to work through, but back to Game of Thrones.
00:43:37
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, House of the Dragon.
00:43:38
Ryan
Jennifer Lopez is a demon.
00:43:41
the_popcorn_podcast
She is a demon. That bitch collecting engagement rings like Thanos. I hate her.
00:43:48
the_popcorn_podcast
Laris, ah no she doesn't.
00:43:51
Ryan
She's got some bops.
00:43:53
the_popcorn_podcast
No, she doesn't. I i couldn't tell you one JLo song.
00:43:54
Ryan
She's got this. She's got, I couldn't name one, but I could sing along to one. You know what I mean? If you put it on and be like, o
00:44:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Okay, I'm gonna keep talking. Uh, Laris, uh, I really did like the scene. Laris learns about that Sea Smoke was supposedly seen, uh, with the new writers. Like, who told you this whisper? And it was laid like a comedy movie. He was like, my friends, brothers, cousin, fishes, nephews, friend might have saw this on a boat one day.
00:44:21
the_popcorn_podcast
And Laris is like, do not tell anyone. He just, the way you did, he just told me that.
00:44:28
the_popcorn_podcast
I love this show. I'm going to be so sad once over.
00:44:31
Ryan
I thought Laris was going to go and be like, Agon, I heard that Seesmoke as a rider, like he was going to go behind that guy's back and be like, I found out from a good trusted source that I really thought that was going to happen, which would have been so funny, but.
00:44:45
the_popcorn_podcast
It would have really helped that team if he did do that. um
00:44:50
Ryan
Well, I mean, it wouldn't help that much. Adam already has seed.
00:44:53
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's good.
00:44:53
Ryan
They're not, they're not getting the C-smoke bag.
00:44:57
the_popcorn_podcast
Reneer speaks with Masarya about Adam anderel and tells Reneer to stop looking for looking in the books to try and form find more Ryres. Look, pretty much just go look for the lows of the lows, look for the bastards, look for those type of people, because there's so many more of them that might even be living on Dragonstone that you don't even know of.
00:45:13
Ryan
the people who aren't written about them, people who are actively, you know, they tried to not let them be known.
00:45:14
the_popcorn_podcast
And I think it's a good plan.
00:45:19
Ryan
So, of course, you're
Strategic Insights and Narrative Developments
00:45:21
Ryan
not going to find them in the books. Nobody wants anybody to know about them because they're bastards. So, yeah, it's a good point from Masarya. Like, you're not, you're going to find people in there, but A, they might not want to help you. B, they might fucking die and make it look worse for you.
00:45:35
the_popcorn_podcast
You can walk by.
00:45:37
Ryan
Or you could actually go find the bastards. Who is that? Is that your mom?
00:45:41
the_popcorn_podcast
it's joseph What are you doing?
00:45:43
the_popcorn_podcast
He's hiding from the camera.
00:45:46
Ryan
All right, that's cool. um Yeah, it makes more sense for Masari. It makes sense to be like you need to find the bastards who, A, might have even stronger Valyrian blood because, you know, they could be just straight bastards like direct descent, direct sons or daughters, whatever. And if they die, you know, they they didn't really mention this, but you can kind of read between the lines. If they die, the small folk die, it's not going to hurt your image as much as having like a Lord die, you know? So it's a good call.
00:46:17
the_popcorn_podcast
which already happened.
00:46:18
Ryan
yeah It did happen, but he was Kingsguard. So, you know, he wasn't going to do anything anyways.
00:46:22
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then Veneer says that now she's going to raise an army of bastards, which I don't know why soon she said I was like, let's fucking go. Like I'm so down with that like idea of her just raising his army of like that forgotten children pretty much of people that just don't care because they're like, oh, I'm, I'm royalty.
00:46:39
the_popcorn_podcast
none None of these people mean anything to me.
00:46:41
Ryan
Yeah, even though I don't know.
00:46:42
the_popcorn_podcast
But yeah.
00:46:44
Ryan
As far as the word army goes, she kind of fucked that one up, because she could have had a bunch of them.
00:46:51
the_popcorn_podcast
Which we will get to Corliss speaks with Adam and all Adam all he says to Adam is that Adam's leave is granted so he can be a dragon rider and that he said Good well done. That's it. So cool is is that well done though means so much more than just well done It was him being like good job.
00:47:14
the_popcorn_podcast
Like good like do you need to do? And was kind of accepting that is his son.
00:47:20
the_popcorn_podcast
Like he wasn't, didn't seem like he really fought the idea of it. Like he knows.
00:47:23
Ryan
yeah I don't know. I think because it was behind, I mean, the door. was the door physically closed, or was it open a little bit? I don't know.
00:47:33
the_popcorn_podcast
No, it was open.
00:47:33
Ryan
You could say it was behind closed doors that they were talking, but I think, okay, then yeah, then he, you know, he was probably still kind of hiding the fact, but I don't know the way, the way that Corliss said like, nice.
00:47:35
the_popcorn_podcast
No, the door was wide open.
00:47:44
Ryan
All right. You're leaved of command or leaved of whatever you had to do and not command, but, and he just said, good job. Like the good job was a little hint that like, you know, Obviously, I know who you are. Good job, buddy.
00:47:57
the_popcorn_podcast
Says well done.
00:47:57
Ryan
You did good. Yeah, whatever. Same thing. um But I still think there was a little bit of... um kind of um What's the word I'm looking for?
00:48:10
Ryan
Corliss is still kind of ashamed that he has bastards. Because you see, when Raineese touches, it wasn't Adam, it was Alan. When she touches Alan's face and realizes who he is a couple episodes ago, Corliss was kind of embarrassed. like he's He's not proud of the fact that he has bastards, which really nobody would be. But I feel like Corliss, especially with how good of a marriage he had with Raineese. Alan and Adam are obviously
00:48:35
the_popcorn_podcast
They're definitely old.
00:48:36
Ryan
around the same age or if not older than Lenore and, um, uh, Laney's.
00:48:42
the_popcorn_podcast
I definitely think Alan is is older than Lenoir.
00:48:42
Ryan
What was, what was the daughter's name? Yeah, I think, I think so. Um, definitely Lenore. Yeah. And the, the daughter was younger.
00:48:51
the_popcorn_podcast
The other one's Damon's wife, right?
00:48:52
Ryan
So yeah, she was, went out like a fucking G dude.
00:48:54
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah. That episode, that episode, I hate that they cut the scene of him hugging daughters.
00:49:00
Ryan
Yeah. A lot of people weren't happy with that. Um, but yeah, I felt there was still a little bit of shame, a little bit of shame in Corliss's voice.
00:49:06
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, not shame of the kid, shame on himself though.
00:49:09
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I mean.
00:49:10
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:49:11
Ryan
But it'll be, it'll be interesting to see if he ever like accepts them. I don't, I don't know if he'll legitimize them or like have marinara legitimize them. I think it could totally happen, especially if Adam becomes like a really big help. Um, Alan too, but yeah, it it'll be interesting to see if that kind of evolves later on. If Corliss kind of just, you know, really truly accepts them as his sons, you know, but, uh, I dunno, it was still a good scene. You could definitely tell that Adam was, you know, he felt that he was happy that he was able to please Corliss in at least some way.
00:49:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah. um From there, we go back to Harrenhal, where Damon speaks with the new Lord, Oscar Tully. ah Oscar pleases his elite. Lord Tully pleases his allegiance to Rhaenyra, but not Damon pretty much. Tully speaks of how it may be difficult to cause banners to war since they hate Damon.
00:50:05
the_popcorn_podcast
And Damon speaks about that and says he's like, I don't need their love. I just need their swords, which again is one of the most Damon lines in the show.
00:50:14
Ryan
And it shows again that he's, he's still Damon. Like these dreams are, like I said earlier, like, I think he is kind of learning.
00:50:20
the_popcorn_podcast
But no, that's he shouldn't care though.
00:50:22
Ryan
No, yeah, but still, like I think he's learning a little bit, but he's still Damon.
00:50:22
the_popcorn_podcast
Like, you know, I mean.
00:50:26
Ryan
When it comes down to it, when he needs to have those conversations and like get people on his side, he's still not going to be all like nice and shit. like He's not going to learn that much. He learned to love his family more.
00:50:36
Ryan
He doesn't he still doesn't give a shit about other lesser lords or the small folk. He's still Damon when it comes down to it, when it comes down to those important moments.
00:50:47
the_popcorn_podcast
And then ah from there we go outside to the, what's it called? The Renwood tree? Haywood tree?
00:50:53
Ryan
the weirwood yeah dude oscar the grouch oscar
00:50:55
the_popcorn_podcast
Weirwood. Damn. Whale. They go out to the Weirwood tree garden area. um And I said Oscar Tully is a fucking legend. ah Damon does not like, though.
00:51:08
the_popcorn_podcast
Why do you say that?
00:51:10
Ryan
the grouch dude did you not do you not know that all the tellers are named after like muppets or sesame street characters it's grover oscar and then there's an elmo and a kermit
00:51:11
the_popcorn_podcast
And he's not like Oscar the Grouch.
00:51:17
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, we did talk about this, I forgot. Yeah.
00:51:26
Ryan
Oscar the Grouch, dude. He came out of a trash can earlier.
00:51:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Damon does not like that Oscar calls him Prince. But he's showing that he's he might be young, but he can hold him so he can hold his own, which is so different from the last time that he speaks with Damon.
00:51:41
the_popcorn_podcast
ah But he stowed his ground and then Oscar tells Damon that he needs to execute justice onto William Blackwood.
00:51:48
the_popcorn_podcast
Did I say something wrong?
00:51:49
Ryan
No, well you did you said William. It's Willem, but I'm also watching Ben Affleck fucking run. He looks so stupid.
00:51:58
Ryan
Oh God this movie sucks.
00:52:01
the_popcorn_podcast
That suit is better than the Netflix suit.
00:52:02
Ryan
Yeah, look I'm gonna kill lecture's dad. Wow fuck it doesn't make any sense
00:52:06
the_popcorn_podcast
That suit never made any sense to me.
00:52:11
the_popcorn_podcast
I do like that. The explosion throws off his vision.
00:52:19
Ryan
I understand that but you see that shot there the car hasn't exploded yet Even though that that car just exploded and it's just not it's not blowing up at all You never noticed that We
00:52:20
the_popcorn_podcast
It's pretty cool.
00:52:26
the_popcorn_podcast
Huh, that's funny.
00:52:31
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, no, the car didn't explode, the bike explodes.
00:52:35
Ryan
have the bike was closer to the car than it was to you know There should be some fire some around there.
00:52:39
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, but some might not.
00:52:42
the_popcorn_podcast
No, there should be five. Oh, Daredevil. I love Daredevil.
00:52:47
Ryan
Alright, back to House of the Dragon. Fuck Daredevil.
00:52:49
the_popcorn_podcast
Back to House Bill. And as I said, he must execute justice onto Willem Blackwood, which Damon does with it with little hesitation. um
00:53:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, so
Character Dynamics and Identity Complexities
00:53:01
the_popcorn_podcast
Willem Blackwood, a guy that Ryan was very excited to see come back.
00:53:06
Ryan
He fucked himself over, dude.
00:53:07
the_popcorn_podcast
Edward dead.
00:53:07
Ryan
i so Me and you both agreed, and like other people I heard, other people I listen to like reviews of too, were like, I didn't think Damon told him to go rape and pillage the entire bracket.
00:53:17
the_popcorn_podcast
Neither did I.
00:53:18
Ryan
You know, it's like I didn't even.
00:53:19
the_popcorn_podcast
He said, do what must be done, doesn't he?
00:53:21
Ryan
Yeah, Damon said, like, do, you know, do some bad shit, but not that bad. I didn't I didn't get that much fucking evil from what Damon said. But Willem fucked up pretty bad and he did some wicked shit. um So. Yeah, my boy, he got what he he got what he had coming, you know, still fuck the brackets, fuck the brackets still.
00:53:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:53:41
the_popcorn_podcast
Are the Brackens gonna be dead too?
00:53:43
the_popcorn_podcast
Aren't- I feel like they're gonna die too though.
00:53:45
Ryan
I think the Brackens are just going to be in prison now. They're probably going to be stuck at here and all because they did.
00:53:50
the_popcorn_podcast
Um, now we- That's what I'm saying, just kill them then.
00:53:51
Ryan
They, they aligned with the green. So they're not going to, they're not going to join the blacks now, but that's, that's exactly what Willem was doing. Why are you doing the same thing? The same thing that the other riverlords were mad about.
00:54:05
the_popcorn_podcast
You're executing justice.
00:54:07
Ryan
That's not okay. They're already prisoners.
00:54:10
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm just you.
00:54:15
the_popcorn_podcast
Sometimes things need to be done, right?
00:54:21
the_popcorn_podcast
um Now we see. What was that noise? um I think it was my dogs. Now we see Damon walking, finding old Viserys sitting, holding his crown. Viserys speaks of how the crown crushes all of those who wear it and then asking Damon if he still wants the crown now. which I like because it was just a short scene. It kind of goes back to what they talked about, but what had been said before in the previous.
00:54:44
the_popcorn_podcast
As I said, those who want the crown, the worst for it pretty much.
00:54:48
the_popcorn_podcast
And I did like the Damon doesn't really you can see on this face. He might not want as much as he had wanted at one point.
00:54:56
the_popcorn_podcast
He definitely seemed a little more upset about the whole situation.
00:54:57
Ryan
All right. Can you do me a favor? Pause the recording for one second.
00:55:05
the_popcorn_podcast
Back into the episode.
00:55:05
Ryan
Unposed now. Let's go. We're back. There we go. All good.
00:55:09
Ryan
Technical difficulties.
00:55:10
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, i i like I did like that scene I like the stuff with the crown I like that Damon really doesn't Doesn't look as as much that he wants it as much as he had at one point So the dry thing the dreams are changing Damon, but just maybe not as fast as they might need to change him
00:55:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Then we watch the maester help Aegon while attempt to help Aegon learn how to walk. Aegon's little crutch breaks. Aegon goes falling face first into the ground, which leads to Laris walks in and then helps Aegon, helps the maester walk Aegon back to the bed. Aegon is an excruciating pain. And we learned that the Mesa's like, he shouldn't be doing this. He's like, but you're forcing me to do that. He's like, he needs to learn. He needs to heal faster. He needs to be back faster. So Laris does, as Ryan had said before, Laris has a plan of his own somewhere in all of this.
00:56:02
the_popcorn_podcast
And it's it's to get a position at his hand, I believe, but. Yeah, and I think at the same time, which is so weird, but it goes back to kind of the scene with the last episode when Laris talks about ah his birth. I think in some weird way, he kind of now has some care for Aegon. Because he probably thinks the same way about how he is kind of like different from his ah the way his ankle is to the way now Aegon is going to be treated that way.
00:56:28
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, it's the same way Tyrion had a soft spot for like bastards and broken things, as he would say.
00:56:30
the_popcorn_podcast
So I don't know.
00:56:36
Ryan
I think i think it is less of care for Aegon and more of a means to an end for Laris. I don't think he's a very caring type of person. But yeah, you do see that he you know maybe not so much cares for Aegon, but he is making sure that he's you know he's pushing Aegon and making sure that he's going to get back to as close to 100% as possible as soon as possible. Yeah. And you see the maester is not happy with it, but you got to push him. It, Aegon is going to do nothing to help himself. He's just not that type of person. If it was up to Aegon, he would just sit in bed the rest of his life and fucking sleep, you know, 20 hours a day. He just wouldn't get any better. So it's good that Lares is there pushing him, you know, it's for Aegon's own benefit, whether he realizes it or not so far at this point.
00:57:29
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, um, back from there we go back to Driftmark with, uh, we could see Corliss talking with Alan, telling Alan about how Adam is now a dragon, and that he may also be, which, um, Alan pretty much responds with that he doesn't want to be one. does That's not what he is, he's a man of the sea, that's all he wants and that's all he needs to be.
00:57:49
the_popcorn_podcast
And I like that, and I like that he calls him, he doesn't even say it, he's just like your brother. Like he doesn't, like it seems that he is kind of accepting the idea a little bit more. Like much more open with the idea.
00:58:00
Ryan
Also, I don't know if we talked about when when they have like a little meeting on Dragonstone. Dude, Adam got ripped out so fast. They put that boy in some fucking Gucci, dude. They put that boy in some clothes.
00:58:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, they I didn't notice until they're trying to do the stuff later in the episode and he's standing. there I was like, oh, you know, my boy in some nice clothes now.
00:58:20
Ryan
Yeah. I took that real quick. I mean, once you get a dragon, you're like, you you got to, this guy can't be wearing fucking pirate clothes anymore.
00:58:31
the_popcorn_podcast
ah We see Raina and the children are kicked out of the veil, right? They're kicked out, right? There's not.
00:58:38
Ryan
Yeah. The veil lady sucks.
00:58:40
the_popcorn_podcast
What was the point of her running over to the dragon stuff?
00:58:43
Ryan
like running over the hill, she wants a dragon.
00:58:45
the_popcorn_podcast
Mm-hmm like she's just trying to find the dragon. That's all so white then she had to go back to the burn site.
00:58:50
Ryan
Yeah, she's trying to find the dragon because she couldn't, because that's, she's following the dragon's tracks. I think that was a different burn. I think that was a different like time.
00:59:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh It looked like the other ones right just loves the same one I was so confused
00:59:04
Ryan
No, I thought it was another one because I mean, it's it's obviously I mean, I know one of the wild dragons names and this dragon is running or flying around stealing sheep. So I wonder what his name is. um Yeah, she she wants to find sheepstealer spoiler alert.
00:59:19
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, that's.
00:59:19
Ryan
It's called sheepstealer.
00:59:22
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
00:59:23
Ryan
You don't put that together.
00:59:25
Ryan
Yeah, because sheepstealer is probably not supposed to be in the veil, which George was very unhappy about.
00:59:30
the_popcorn_podcast
No, they're.
00:59:31
Ryan
But at the same time,
00:59:33
the_popcorn_podcast
Isn't isn't sheep still on Dragonstone in the book?
00:59:36
Ryan
probably supposed to be on dragonstone i don't know whoa whoa don't don't say that okay but anyways i was gonna say yeah yeah the the book and the show there's there's been differences so differences already and a lot of times they're for the better like
00:59:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, and I don't think Raina gets it in the book. No, she definitely doesn't. I definitely know that that's not Raina who gets it. I'm saying in the book. The book may be different.
01:00:00
Ryan
last season, George R. R. Martin called Patty Considine to say directly like, Hey, you're Viserys was much better than mine, which is absolutely true. And there's, there's been changes. Obviously I haven't read the book Tommy has, but I've, I've listened to people talk about differences that have happened so far. And a lot of them seems pretty good. A lot of them, you know, there's a lot of stuff they've taken out. Like I know with sheepstealer, I listen to somebody talk about, I won't, I won't get into it. But there's a certain character that has to do with sheepstealer that it seems like is not going to be in the show, which would be a big change.
01:00:30
the_popcorn_podcast
But that that's what I was talking about, the character you're thinking of.
01:00:32
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. So that would be a pretty big change from from what I've heard and listened to.
01:00:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, no, that is a drastic change.
01:00:39
Ryan
Or I could just listen to the book, but that seems like a lot of work.
01:00:42
the_popcorn_podcast
It's not long, it's 80,000 words.
01:00:43
Ryan
um ah you um I don't think I've said 80,000 words before.
01:00:54
the_popcorn_podcast
Go listen to our drunk review, we definitely say 80,000 words.
01:00:56
Ryan
yeah Yeah, that was a lot. Anyways, back to this. What happens next?
01:01:02
the_popcorn_podcast
um oh reina yeah
01:01:03
Ryan
I hope Lana gets a dragon. I feel so bad. Reyna, that's what it was. Lana was her mom. um But yeah, she was supposed to get vagar, that got stolen, tried to get sea smoke, almost fucking died twice.
01:01:10
the_popcorn_podcast
uh alison is now um alison is now in the woods with sir uh richard rickard i didn't know how to say his name richard i was gonna say um and she goes and lays in the water and just
01:01:16
Ryan
This poor girl needs something.
01:01:30
the_popcorn_podcast
kind of disappears from the world for a little bit.
01:01:34
Ryan
Yeah. I really thought she was going to like drown herself.
01:01:37
the_popcorn_podcast
I thought she was drowning. I thought that's what the shot of her hair was. I thought she was underwater.
01:01:42
the_popcorn_podcast
I was wrong.
01:01:42
Ryan
But ah again, I, you know, at the same time, I totally get it from her to just, everybody's got to kind of escape every once in a while. It's always nice just going off the map, off the grid.
01:01:51
the_popcorn_podcast
especially when you're the queen, well, former.
01:01:56
the_popcorn_podcast
um Jace um has gets into an argument now back at Dragonstone with Rhaenyra about lowborns being able to claim dragons, and then kind of goes off with Rhaenyra telling Jace that these dragons can end this needless war, which, again, she continues to say throughout this entire show, this is a needless war. While on the other side, um with the greens, they're very much more like this war is necessary. This has to have this is war like they're not they're not as forgiving. That makes sense. Right.
01:02:28
the_popcorn_podcast
um And Jase also seems to believe that he may not be the heir from here does succeed in all of this with finally kind of kind of accepting that. He is a strong like he's which I'm pretty sure you brought up the other a couple of episodes ago if he's ever going to like straight up say it.
01:02:45
Ryan
Yeah, I think I did.
01:02:46
the_popcorn_podcast
So, but I also have a thing.
01:02:49
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, it was. And, and the first, the last time he had said it is when he's young and the beginning of the, when the first time jump happens, he just says, am I a bastard? Why are you making that face?
01:02:59
Ryan
It's the face that he makes every fucking scene he's in.
01:03:02
the_popcorn_podcast
Jase?
01:03:03
Ryan
Yeah, he's just mewing the entire time.
01:03:06
the_popcorn_podcast
No, I love Jase. I think he's a good actor.
01:03:08
Ryan
I think he is too, but he makes, dude, the same face and the exact same pose every time he's on screen.
01:03:14
the_popcorn_podcast
I'll have to look next time.
01:03:15
the_popcorn_podcast
like Pay attention.
01:03:17
the_popcorn_podcast
um I also have it known here that mislike is an odd word.
01:03:22
Ryan
Miss like, ah yeah, she's like, I miss like how you're talking to me.
01:03:23
the_popcorn_podcast
Rainier uses it in that scene. It says mislike.
01:03:28
the_popcorn_podcast
something like that. but Yeah, weird word.
01:03:30
the_popcorn_podcast
But yeah, I like to say it was sad seeing Jace crying because he doesn't know if his if he is the heir because all he has, he said, is that he has a dragon. That's his only thing that can help him because he doesn't have he doesn't have the hair.
01:03:43
the_popcorn_podcast
He doesn't have the look of what he's supposed to look like. So everyone kind of so everyone knows that he isn't.
01:03:49
Ryan
Yeah. And by the time he gets to age, he gets of age, you know, Renier and Damon die. By the age that he would get to, you know, inherit the throne, if that were to happen, then his younger siblings, the ones who were, you know, legitimate, fully legitimate, Damon and Reneer his kids would probably be of age too at that point. So, you know, it would be tough to him if they. if they tried to fuck him over and they would they would technically probably have a better claim to the throne being fully legitimate kids.
01:04:19
Ryan
So yeah, I get where he's coming from. um But I love seeing it. He just finally lets it out. He's like, you know, I'm a bastard. Why would you never we never talked about this? Like, what? Don't stop looking at that. um But yeah, it was a good scene from him. I've really, I have liked him this whole season. I think, I think the kid is a good actor. Um, and I, I just, I liked Jason's character. So it was, it was a good scene for him. ah It was tough seeing him cry. It was kind of sad, but also Renier, like, she didn't really fight back that much.
01:04:51
Ryan
She did say like, I don't like how you're talking to me, but at the same time, she was really like, yeah, I know this is tough for you too. So she, you know, yeah, she gave him a nice hug.
01:04:58
the_popcorn_podcast
Yes, she was being a good mom. You don't want to hurt him.
01:05:02
Ryan
It was a nice moment. and
01:05:03
the_popcorn_podcast
ah The word is out now for the small folk of King's Landing that Rhaenyra is looking for small folk ambassadors to claim dragons on Dragonstone.
01:05:12
the_popcorn_podcast
Ulf is going to go to Dragonstone, and what do they keep calling Ulf the dragon something?
01:05:17
the_popcorn_podcast
The dragon rider.
01:05:18
Ryan
Probably just Dragon Lord.
01:05:20
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, that seems so funny. They start hyping their boy up.
01:05:22
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, I do love that.
01:05:24
the_popcorn_podcast
I told you, I was hinting at this.
01:05:28
Ryan
I know you were, but I was like, this fucking moron is never going to ride a dragon.
01:05:32
Ryan
thank Yeah, but I do love that you see him before when he when he, you know, he tells the guy from door and he's like, I am a Targaryen actually. And he's very like, hyping himself up, his boys are hyping him up. When it finally comes time to like be a Targaryen, at least somewhat, you see how terrified he is.
01:05:50
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:05:50
Ryan
He's like, dude, I just been saying this to get free drinks for the past, you know, 30 years.
01:05:52
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:05:53
Ryan
I don't want to do this. I don't want to fucking die.
01:05:55
the_popcorn_podcast
And he's like, oh, I don't know if I can that I had that injury in my leg um Then Great scene A
01:05:59
Ryan
It was so funny. But we also see Hugh, Hugh's point of view on that it was a great scene he's obviously much more um like classically yeah classically kind of like noble he's he's a better dude although last episode when he fucking punched that dude in the face to take the cabbage dude hell yeah he can he can get down when he needs to um but yeah he's he's much more like a classic hero type archetype which was it's cool to see it's cool to get
01:06:12
the_popcorn_podcast
better person
01:06:25
the_popcorn_podcast
Hey, man's gotta eat. I said...
01:06:33
Ryan
Both of those kind of archetypes like the guy all is more so, you know, got kind of like a drunk. He's not it's not like really drunk, but he's also at the bar a lot. So more so like the kind of drunk doesn't really care that much. And then Hugh is a good family man trying to take care of his wife and kid and, you know, do what's best for his family. But Yeah. I did think it was interesting though. like You would think that Ulf being that character of like the drunk who's just looking out for himself for the most part would be like, oh, hell yeah.
01:07:04
Ryan
I'm going to go get a dragon.
01:07:05
the_popcorn_podcast
Tumbleton.
01:07:05
Ryan
I'm going to be on top of the world. And Hugh being the family man would you know more likely be like, no, I'm not going to go. I've got to take care of my family. But those roles get reversed where Ulf is terrified and Hugh is like, We need to do this.
Dragon Encounters and Visual Spectacle
01:07:18
Ryan
I need to leave you and hope that you can get to Tumbleton or whatever, wherever they're going. And I'm going to get a dragon because if I get a dragon, then we're going to be super good. We're going to be fucking lords. So it was just, I thought that was a really cool kind of role reversal of the archetypes that we've seen from them so far.
01:07:34
the_popcorn_podcast
And I do have a question. So he talks about his mother for a bit. And I'm pretty sure she says you have. She said he had no. I have no difference than her brother's sons, right? So she says, yeah, OK.
01:07:49
the_popcorn_podcast
So that means her brother is the king.
01:07:54
the_popcorn_podcast
And she has to.
01:07:54
Ryan
He's Viserys and Damon's brother.
01:07:56
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, so he's Damon's brother.
01:07:57
the_popcorn_podcast
Well, no, cousin would make him.
01:08:01
the_popcorn_podcast
No, cousin, and her brother is the king.
01:08:04
the_popcorn_podcast
That'd be cousins.
01:08:05
Ryan
But wasn't- was Viser- no, no, no. Yeah, yeah, you're right. Yeah, cousin.
01:08:08
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:08:08
Ryan
Because Viserys wasn't Jaehaerys's son. That was the whole thing. He didn't have any heirs.
01:08:11
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:08:13
the_popcorn_podcast
um So that's so sad that she she was just thrown aside because they said that people will pay more money to sleep with someone with silver hair.
01:08:23
the_popcorn_podcast
White hair. But it is so silver hair.
01:08:28
Ryan
Yeah. It's not gray. Like you said last time.
01:08:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Sorry. um The dragon tamers back on Dragonstone do not agree with Reneir's decision as they said speak of the dragons being sacred and these people are not dragon riders. They're not pure.
01:08:44
the_popcorn_podcast
Then Reneir... That's pretty much what they said.
01:08:50
the_popcorn_podcast
don't don't Don't try and turn this on me because you made your stupid comment earlier about the kiss scene.
01:08:54
Ryan
I made a very stupid comment that I don't agree with. But the point I was trying to make, I still stand by.
01:08:58
the_popcorn_podcast
Reneir...
01:09:00
Ryan
I just didn't do it right.
01:09:03
the_popcorn_podcast
dude This is lighting up my entire basement all of a sudden.
01:09:05
Ryan
I know because you're watching fucking Daredevil. It's a 2000s movie. Everything is just lights.
01:09:10
the_popcorn_podcast
It might be one of the worst edited movies of all time.
01:09:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Reneer speaking with the small folk is one of the best speeches in the show. And I'm not going to lie. She gives me that speech. i'm I'm trying to claim that dragon.
01:09:22
Ryan
Yeah, it was pretty tough.
01:09:23
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm joining that army to do those. so And then she's like, the first dragon we're going for is named Vermothor. Vermothor is the second largest dragon behind Vhagar. He's also the most fierce dragon out of all of them. And he's also known as the Bronze Fury, and he's the first that we shall try and claim.
01:09:40
Ryan
Yep, he was jaharis's dragon before that.
01:09:41
the_popcorn_podcast
And, mm-hmm.
01:09:45
Ryan
It's a big fucking boy, dude.
01:09:46
the_popcorn_podcast
and Would you try and, would you have tried, if you were a bastard, would you have tried, would you have went?
01:09:53
Ryan
I would have tried to be like third, you know, because the first guy is obviously going to die, obviously going to die.
01:10:00
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:10:02
Ryan
The second guy. maybe he gets a shot but maybe he gets like a little closer but i think the third spot is like the spot that you want to be in because you don't want to be last because you know If there's, I don't know, 50 people in front of you, maybe two of them tame a dragon and then you're just, you're just, fuck, you want the dragonstone for no reason. And now you're an enemy of the state. You can't go home because the greens will find out and fucking chop your head off. I think third is a good spot. I think that's a good spot to be early enough to make sure that you really have a shot of getting a dragon, but also the two people in front of you are probably going to die. And then maybe Verma Thor's like, all right, that's enough. I'll take this. I'll take this fucking idiot. Um, but.
01:10:42
Ryan
I thought they were going to go one at a time and it was going to be like a compilation of people just getting burned up. But no.
01:10:51
the_popcorn_podcast
And I did want I have notes in here um and I did like that. It wasn't like a line. It was just whoever wanted to attempt walk up.
01:10:59
the_popcorn_podcast
And I would have been standing right where he was standing right in the middle, just in case things went wrong.
01:11:04
the_popcorn_podcast
Verma Thor looks amazing. I said the sound design of how Verma Thor sounds is also. So cool. And I'll talk about some stuff I was thinking about later. um So then Vernier calls for Vermuthor, of course, and he eventually shows up. And then there's a shot of Vernier turning around to ask the people who who's first. It was one of the best shots in the entire series so far. It's like Vermuthor's head right here, and then she's like standing in front of it.
01:11:34
Ryan
Yeah, no, I watched the episode too.
01:11:35
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh my God, it looked so good. I just made sure you know exactly what shot I can do.
01:11:40
Ryan
But I know. I think if you mentioned the shot of Reneer in front of a dragon, everybody's going to know what shot.
01:11:46
the_popcorn_podcast
There was a lot of shots to are in front of the dragon.
01:11:48
Ryan
Not like that, though. That was pretty cool.
01:11:50
the_popcorn_podcast
They're perfectly symmetrical.
01:11:51
Ryan
It reminded me of the shot of Daenerys in the Red Keep at the end of Game of Thrones when like you know when Drogon takes flight behind her and you have like the wings behind her for that shot.
01:12:04
Ryan
ah you'd You'd recognize it if you saw it.
01:12:05
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, it's been a while since I watched.
01:12:06
Ryan
It's a very famous still. Yeah, but it reminded me of that, but also stepped up because it wasn't just the wings behind her. It was the full fucking dragon. and She was just standing right in the middle of it.
01:12:16
the_popcorn_podcast
talking massive
01:12:18
Ryan
I mean, it was it was really, really cool to see. um
01:12:21
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then I um And in pure Game of Thrones fashion a firm with the word right away torches half the small folk and
01:12:21
Ryan
But yeah, I did love how Renier was like, all right, I'm going to go up there. You guys just go for it.
01:12:37
the_popcorn_podcast
which then leads to an in total Jurassic Park style scene in which Vermitthor continues and tries to kill the rest of the small folk.
01:12:46
the_popcorn_podcast
It sounded like Jurassic Park, it looked like Jurassic Park, it was such a cool sequence.
01:12:52
the_popcorn_podcast
I was really enjoying it.
01:12:52
Ryan
Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying. It felt like Jurassic Park, but fucking so much cooler at the same time. It was so much fun to watch, because man, that one dude who stepped up too, he didn't have a shot. He didn't have a shot in the hell, dude.
01:13:09
the_popcorn_podcast
Yo, my man looked like his face had gotten hit in the half and they tried to glue him back together.
01:13:13
Ryan
He got kicked by a couple donkeys, and then they just put him in the front.
01:13:15
the_popcorn_podcast
He looked like a messed up Mr. Potato Head.
01:13:18
Ryan
Yeah, he looked like if you make a sandcastle and just like a massive wave hits it, you know what I mean? Half of it's just crumpling down. um
01:13:29
the_popcorn_podcast
um But lead continuing, then Hugh sees that a woman's about to be um burned alive by Vermuthor and he steps in front of it and just starts yelling at Vermuthor. He's like, come on, do something. And Vermuthor kind of just stops, lets him claim him. And Reneer watches all this and she you can see that little smirk going across her face.
01:13:48
the_popcorn_podcast
So I get a little happy about all this.
01:13:50
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then from there we go back to olf as he's just running through the cave in the dark like a buffoon and he runs straight into silver wings cave you can see him in the back of the shot and Steps right into the nest of her eggs, which were also pretty cool.
01:14:06
the_popcorn_podcast
This dragon eggs It's kind of no one really talked about it. It's kind of important But
01:14:13
Ryan
Yeah. Although do you think he stepped on one of the actual eggs or did he just step through the nest?
01:14:18
the_popcorn_podcast
No, he where he broke the seal, though, of the nest.
01:14:20
Ryan
Yeah, that's that's what I thought is.
01:14:21
the_popcorn_podcast
That's how they stay warm, though. That's like and they need to be in there.
01:14:25
the_popcorn_podcast
So I don't think any of those are going to work.
01:14:25
Ryan
Yeah, it's important. Yeah. Man, he's so lucky the silver wings like a more chilled out dragon, you know.
01:14:34
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, ah first off, so happy with the design of Silverwing.
01:14:38
Ryan
Oh, yeah, it looks great.
01:14:39
the_popcorn_podcast
It's the most unique looking one, like the way that it's headed.
01:14:43
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, my God. And I said, I was like, it's exactly like how my brain like thought about it.
01:14:49
Ryan
Yeah, it's not like it's not like sea smoke, which is literally just Drogon reskinned, which is just it's so funny to see that, but.
01:14:50
the_popcorn_podcast
like Excited.
01:14:54
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, just right.
01:14:59
the_popcorn_podcast
I mean, there's so many. I think that's what we said last year. Last time, last season of the two, though, is that that's what makes this show so different because there's so many different types of dragons now. It's not just
01:15:08
Ryan
Yeah, they all they all look different. Yeah, it's very cool to see because it's not like Game of Thrones where Drogon look different, but Rhaegal and Viserion were like the same fucking thing.
01:15:11
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah. um
01:15:19
the_popcorn_podcast
I never could tell the difference.
01:15:19
Ryan
they They look great, but they looked exactly the same besides Drogon, which was just black and a little bit more horns. but
01:15:26
the_popcorn_podcast
um Yeah, no, I agree. And that's ah but that's what makes this somewhat entertaining. um And I said that Ulf seems to have been chosen by now Silverwing. ah Back at King's Landing, they're at the council meeting. Aemon is sitting there and he's starting to like listen. You can kind of hear the townsmen be like, Dragon dragon get inside. There's a dragon and all this stuff and he kind of looks up and Larissa's face just looks at the other councilman like oh fuck you might have your your buddy's neighbor's friends dogs cats best friend might have been right about this whole situation and Now first off they weren't right because it wasn't see smoke They he looks out there and silverwing is threat flying through the air by off and there's a there's a sequence It's kind of like an overhead more of the dragon flying above the sea low like right above the buildings
01:16:16
the_popcorn_podcast
It is the best dragon CGI I've ever seen. It's only like 30 seconds.
01:16:19
Ryan
Yeah, but it looked good. Mm hmm.
01:16:21
the_popcorn_podcast
But you can like see the detail on the dragon, the buildings, the people running underneath. It was perfect. Like 30 seconds. and And that was it. But it was the most perfect that the dragon has ever looked flying.
01:16:31
Ryan
Probably not even that long. Yeah, this whole episode looked good, too.
01:16:35
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:16:37
Ryan
And I think a lot of people had some complaints earlier in this season about the Dragons not looking great.
01:16:44
the_popcorn_podcast
I didn't think they ever looked bad.
01:16:46
Ryan
I thought there were a couple of shots, but they didn't look great. I think that the worst shot like CGI so far, or not even CGI, but the worst screen screen is Raney's.
01:16:54
the_popcorn_podcast
Shot of Rhaenyra.
01:16:55
Ryan
No, Raney's falling back when she dies.
01:16:57
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I think it's Rhaenyra standing in front of the skull, the dragon skull.
01:17:02
Ryan
That one's not great either.
01:17:03
the_popcorn_podcast
There's like, that that's the one that I like was watching.
01:17:03
Ryan
But yeah, a lot of the.
01:17:06
the_popcorn_podcast
I was like, that's not good.
01:17:07
Ryan
Yeah, a lot of the green screen like composites aren't fantastic, but I think I think the CGI has been good so far, but you can definitely tell they saved up and like these latter these last couple episodes are where they really put a ah lot of the effort into.
01:17:18
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, and They're saving our money for Season 3.
01:17:23
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, we got a lot of things to do.
01:17:24
the_popcorn_podcast
We'll save some of our budget right now. um Yeah, theyre I'm cool.
01:17:30
Ryan
Yeah, I can't wait for 2027 to see that.
01:17:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Aiman attempts to then chase off with Vhagar. And of course, Aiman fashion being brash, not thinking through. Aiman begins to fly, gets even closer, drains him. And all of a sudden he's like, he tells Vhagar that he needs to turn around. He needs to flee. like We can't do this. And it leads into one of the coldest things in Game of Thrones history. We're just watching Rene walk up with Cyrax, Vermothor and Silvering flying above. Oh, my God, I was so hype.
01:17:56
Ryan
It's one of the coldest album covers of the year so far.
01:17:57
the_popcorn_podcast
I was
01:17:59
the_popcorn_podcast
Dude, that was an album cover. And Emma Darcy is continues to just be a legend every time she's on screen.
01:18:01
Ryan
Yeah, it was badass.
01:18:06
the_popcorn_podcast
She had such like a. Because I feel like it's always we always talk about like Daniel Day and like those Leo has that it's like you have a presence when you're on screen.
01:18:17
the_popcorn_podcast
Like when she played, as Rhaenyra, they are absolutely incredible. Like they, that scene with the speech was amazing. And I've talked about every episode she, they hear.
01:18:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Rhaenyra has a scene where, Rhaenyra has a scene where it's the best scene of the episode and Emma Darcy.
01:18:27
Ryan
if You're catching it, you're doing good.
01:18:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Amazing.
01:18:38
the_popcorn_podcast
I will forever be a fan no matter what happens.
01:18:41
Ryan
Yeah, stop choking your mic again.
01:18:43
the_popcorn_podcast
Sorry. It's cause I'm swinging it, I think.
01:18:46
Ryan
ah Yeah, no, you shouldn't do that.
01:18:47
the_popcorn_podcast
Um, yeah, uh, not brash, um, not brash, uh, but not even bold.
01:18:49
Ryan
But also, you said, I don't think Ayman's very brash most of the time. Because I mean, yeah, of course you would.
01:19:02
Ryan
old I mean, he is bold.
01:19:02
the_popcorn_podcast
He's more than bold. He's that's brash.
01:19:05
Ryan
i I know what you're trying to say. I mean, yeah, no. Yeah, I know what you're trying to say, but I don't i don't think so. Because you see, like, Aegon is the one who's brash. He just rushes into Rook's Rest. No care in the world. Aemon's the one who's like, oh, shit, this moron. But then he tells Vhagar to wait. you know We have to wait for our moment. And then this, of course, you're going to get on your dragon and chase this dragon out of your city. but Yeah, absolutely. You have to. You're just going to let this dragon fly around and show that they're more powerful than you the entire day.
01:19:34
the_popcorn_podcast
Yes, because if I there's a reason why there's all of a sudden a new dragon How big is silver wings still a big silver wings the third biggest isn't it she is I
01:19:35
Ryan
You can't do that. No, not at all. Especially when you're. No, especially when your dragon is bigger and it's just the one as far as you know. No, you're not going to do that. but Also. yeah I think near that. I don't remember which one. Yeah, she's still big. But you see when when they get closer to Dragonstone and he, Aemon realizes that there's three dragons. They now have Vermethor and Silverwing and Cyrax is there. He's the one who says, Vhagar, we got to turn around. And Vhagar is the one that's flying faster. She wants to go fight right now. And Aemon's the one who makes Vhagar turn around. Vhagar doesn't want to turn around. So I don't think Aemon is that but like brash or bold.
01:20:16
Ryan
or like, you know, irrational when it comes to attacking people. I think he's, he's pretty, pretty level headed.
01:20:20
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, maybe it's more. Yeah, maybe it's more that he is very keen on violence being an answer for things, though.
01:20:29
Ryan
Yeah, no, I, I agree with that, but I think he understands.
01:20:31
the_popcorn_podcast
Maybe that's how I meant to word it more.
01:20:33
Ryan
Yeah. I think he understands when to, you know, when to fall back, like when he's going to get fucked up, you know?
01:20:36
the_popcorn_podcast
When to use it.
01:20:42
the_popcorn_podcast
um And I looked it up, Silverwing is the third biggest goes, they are Verma Thor.
01:20:48
the_popcorn_podcast
Silverwing, it would have been Maley's, but then it goes Dreamfire, Caraxes, Sheep, Sheepstealer are
Anticipation for Future Episodes
01:20:55
the_popcorn_podcast
the biggest.
01:20:58
the_popcorn_podcast
We heard a little bit about Dreamfire in this episode, got me very excited.
01:21:00
Ryan
Is she going to be there next episode?
01:21:01
the_popcorn_podcast
um ah Then we got, after that was the end of the episode, seeing the album cover of Reneira. Then we got in next week's episode, I i believe, especially going off the book and where I'm pretty sure we're at, we are getting the Battle of the Gullet. is where I think the battle is going to be.
01:21:17
the_popcorn_podcast
If I remember correctly, that's why I think it is, which in the book, very exciting. So I'm excited to see all that. We see that Dreamfire and, uh, uh, Laina Laina, Helena, Helena is going to join the battle with Dreamfire and soldiers will fall.
01:21:36
the_popcorn_podcast
This is going to be great episode. I really hope it's longer than an hour. because I want it.
01:21:42
Ryan
I think it should be.
01:21:44
the_popcorn_podcast
It's the end for probably ah two years. We're probably not going to have another season, year and a half.
01:21:48
Ryan
Yeah, probably at least.
01:21:49
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then I just had some things I just want to add to like just stuff from like being like the books and stuff.
01:21:55
the_popcorn_podcast
I just want to like say some things. No, it's only three little bullet points.
01:22:01
the_popcorn_podcast
I was saying that we're definitely entering the best part of the princess and the queen, like the this story. This is where.
01:22:10
the_popcorn_podcast
Things are going to be. Like it's going to be quick. What happens from here on out? Like there's a lot of important stuff coming in the next eight hours of the show.
01:22:22
the_popcorn_podcast
It's going to be a lot like it's going to all of a sudden be like.
01:22:28
Ryan
What the hell was that?
01:22:28
the_popcorn_podcast
ah Shut the fuck up. My toilet.
01:22:34
the_popcorn_podcast
Thank you. um But yeah, I mean, it's going to it's going to get really good. um And I am excited because the show is going to take a turn where it's going to. Hopefully, if from the way they kind of said this episode, I think it's going to start following the novella a lot closer with some of the stuff that they kind of set up, but like small changes like it might be a rain and now instead of the character that we we were kind of hinting towards, like stuff like that.
01:22:59
the_popcorn_podcast
But I have i have a feeling they are kind of going to follow something. um And I kind of want to see how people react to some of the stuff. I'm excited to see how people react to some of the things that are going to happen because I really like the novella.
01:23:14
the_popcorn_podcast
And I know that I do like the changes that they have made in the show so far, ah which ah I think a lot of people do agree with that the changes have been good so far.
01:23:22
Ryan
Yeah, for the most part, yeah.
01:23:24
the_popcorn_podcast
So I wonder how much they're going to change with the ending. Not even just the ending, kind of like the whole next half of this story or however long they're going to make this. They said four seasons, right? Four or five.
01:23:36
Ryan
uh they said four seasons originally yeah like at the end of season one they said probably four but yeah yeah yeah because i mean this isn't like this isn't the beginning middle and the end like we're not nearing the end this was like a this isn't just a few battles for like a couple months this is like a
01:23:41
the_popcorn_podcast
Or OK, I knew that they eventually put out like a time. Yes, so halfway. Yeah, no, we have a. Oh, yeah, I have a feeling these are going to be eight season eight episodes, seasons to the final two.
01:23:59
the_popcorn_podcast
I mean, it's not a super long war. It's only two years.
01:24:01
Ryan
No, yeah, but still it's two years. We've, we've been in this war for a week, like, but Sarah's died a week ago.
01:24:04
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:24:06
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, they I do have a feeling that we're going to take a little jump in time in the next season.
01:24:11
Ryan
More than that, but yeah.
01:24:12
the_popcorn_podcast
Like we'll be in the war, I think, at the start of the next season.
01:24:16
Ryan
I mean, there's definitely been like, this season's been longer than I think it feels like.
01:24:21
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, no, I think it's been like eight days.
01:24:21
Ryan
Not by much, but I feel like, you know, sometimes past. Yeah, not that long, but maybe a little longer than that.
01:24:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Like that's that's wild that the entire series, these see especially when the last season was 10 years.
01:24:33
Ryan
Yeah, there's the yeah big jump.
01:24:35
the_popcorn_podcast
It was a jump. but um ah And I said, I have that we have so much more to look forward to. And the final little thing I want to say is that if because they don't have to follow them about if they can do these two seasons. Like great, like if these next two seasons are great. It could be the two greatest seasons of television. Like if they are high quality, they take their time and they do it the way that they've done Game of Thrones early seasons battle like there's going to be battle the bastard style stuff coming.
01:25:09
the_popcorn_podcast
We are in for a real treat and I really am excited.
01:25:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Especially because I started like when I was going back through like my like ah the novella. i All of a sudden I was like, holy shit, we still have so much to look like. I'm I'm so jittery now, like excited for what we have coming.
01:25:21
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, especially when the Starks come down, because that was we just got we just got a teaser from the Starks.
01:25:25
the_popcorn_podcast
So, yeah, I'm really excited. Dude.
01:25:30
Ryan
The very first scene was just like, all right, just just so you remember the Starks are going to be here.
01:25:35
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah.
01:25:36
Ryan
This isn't happening this season. They're going to come down and they're, you know,
01:25:37
the_popcorn_podcast
no There's a lot of families that we still haven't seen that are going to show up.
01:25:42
Ryan
Yeah, it's going to be fucking big.
01:25:44
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, it's going to it's.
01:25:47
the_popcorn_podcast
It's going to be absolutely insane, and I am so here for it, and I do think that maybe they just need to raise the budget a little bit because some of the I mean. Think of it like that last season of game with as bad as the season is, but the look that they got for the Dragons flying through King's Landing, on that's what this one is going to need to look like.
01:26:03
Ryan
Yeah. I mean, they just don't cash into it. Yeah.
01:26:06
the_popcorn_podcast
Like they're going to be spending some bank, but yeah, I'm, I'm really excited.
01:26:10
the_popcorn_podcast
I was texting a buddy of mine who was also read the novella and me and him were talking about like how exciting it's going to be. I'm excited for you to see it. Cause I think you're really going to like the next two seasons.
01:26:22
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah. That's, that's my little spiel from the novellas.
01:26:22
Ryan
Yeah, we'll get back to you in 2032 when they're all out.
01:26:27
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh my God. Wait. So let's just say it's two years from now.
01:26:31
the_popcorn_podcast
God, I'm going to be 26 years old. getting ready to turn 26.
01:26:38
the_popcorn_podcast
ah But ah going from there, ah Ryan, what is your recommendation of the week for everyone?
01:26:47
Ryan
I'm gonna, um, shit. What do I, I want to tell you what I'm going to recommend. I'm going to recommend, um,
01:27:00
Ryan
uh, regular show. That's a good, that's a good show. I don't like recommendation of the week.
01:27:06
the_popcorn_podcast
I love regular show.
01:27:08
Ryan
I love regular show.
01:27:10
the_popcorn_podcast
Why don't you like recommendation of the week?
01:27:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, that's not that's not the show's fault.
01:27:14
Ryan
I never put there. No, I understand that. I understand.
01:27:19
the_popcorn_podcast
So regular show, that's your choice.
01:27:20
Ryan
Regular show is awesome. Yeah.
01:27:25
the_popcorn_podcast
This movie over already?
01:27:29
the_popcorn_podcast
This movie short. um I'm going to recommend
01:27:34
the_popcorn_podcast
Kingdom of Heaven by Ridley Scott.
01:27:36
Ryan
The director's got the.
01:27:38
the_popcorn_podcast
Director's Cut, yes. Ed Norton is an absolute legend in this movie. And the fact that he didn't want to be credited for his role, even cooler. It's a great movie. And i I still even think that the original cut, I don't think is horrible, but the director's cut is just leaps and bounds, a better movie. They let it's just it's the what the runtime should have been from the start.
01:28:00
the_popcorn_podcast
um You can watch that on Hulu, it's really good and I recommend it to everyone. Especially if you like Game of Thrones, it's definitely actually definitely close to a Game of Thrones and most other things that people can compare to Game of Thrones.
01:28:09
Ryan
Well, yeah, but it's also real.
01:28:13
the_popcorn_podcast
But I'm saying like that there's there's dialogue to it. It's not all fighting. It's not super crazy.
01:28:18
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, I know what you mean.
01:28:19
the_popcorn_podcast
It's not all action. But yeah, huge fan of kingdom of heaven.
01:28:23
the_popcorn_podcast
My dad is still yet to see it. I'm trying to convince him to watch it with me.
01:28:27
the_popcorn_podcast
But yeah, thank you guys again for tuning into this week episode and tuning into our view. Next thing we're reviewing, I guess, is the finale for House of the Dragon. Who are you looking at? Are you looking?
01:28:40
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, is Mr.
01:28:41
Ryan
It's closed, but I'm not. No, he didn't fuck.
01:28:48
the_popcorn_podcast
Um, yeah, thank you guys so much for I keep choking the mic.
01:28:52
the_popcorn_podcast
Thank you guys so much for tuning into the episode. We will be back to review the season finale of House of Dragon. We are coming up soon. We have.
01:29:02
the_popcorn_podcast
The hell, what movies are coming out? I know there's got to be some. Oh, my dad saw a trap.
01:29:08
the_popcorn_podcast
Yeah, like i I'm going to do this on the podcast.
01:29:08
Ryan
Do you like it or hate it?
01:29:11
the_popcorn_podcast
I'm going to read this to you. My dad texted me yesterday.
01:29:19
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh my God, where's his text?
01:29:23
the_popcorn_podcast
there Oh, hey dude, you're going to be shocked. You should probably go see it tomorrow night. I was like, really? And he calls me. I'm having a wine night yesterday with Ashlyn and he calls me and he's like, I can't even lie to you.
01:29:37
the_popcorn_podcast
It was horrendous. like It is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
01:29:41
Ryan
Yeah, you saw that coming.
01:29:43
the_popcorn_podcast
He said Josh Hartnett was really he said it's not just hard and it's full.
01:29:47
the_popcorn_podcast
um And then he said I should have stayed for the credits because the writing probably the writing credit was probably given to Chad GBT You know what else was stupid about this movie? They said this elaborate fucking plan and somehow thousands of people are in on it, but all these people just keep a secret bullshit and Yeah on the phone. He just yelled on speaker to me and Ashley about how terrible the movie was He was not a happy camper in ah Oklahoma yesterday
01:30:09
Ryan
Yeah, I could have. I could have seen that coming to the fucking hold that trap has on like, like parents. I cannot explain to you how much my parents have been like, what do you think about that movie trap? I think it looks pretty cool. Like, why the fuck? Why is trap?
01:30:29
the_popcorn_podcast
It's M. Night.
01:30:30
Ryan
Why is trap the movie that you care about? Like, what what channels are they putting all of the commercials on?
01:30:33
the_popcorn_podcast
They love M. Night.
01:30:35
Ryan
They don't give a fuck about at night, dude.
01:30:37
the_popcorn_podcast
I am telling you, that's exactly what it is.
01:30:39
Ryan
i ah ah to a point, yes. But I also, that they need to realize now that M. Night has one good movie, every four movies. That's it.
01:30:48
Ryan
He's coming up on a good one now, but I hope.
01:30:48
the_popcorn_podcast
He's the.
01:30:51
the_popcorn_podcast
No, no, he's not. He's got one more shit one before then, right?
01:30:55
Ryan
What was the last good one?
01:30:59
the_popcorn_podcast
Let's go look at the MHS ones.
01:30:59
Ryan
Cause it was split was good and then it was glass and then it was old. And then, yeah. And then this, so the next one should be good because that's glass, old, and then trap, right?
01:31:05
the_popcorn_podcast
Shoo.
01:31:10
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, I always forgave the After Earth movie.
01:31:11
Ryan
Or am I missing one?
01:31:17
the_popcorn_podcast
God, that movie's so bad.
01:31:19
the_popcorn_podcast
Oh, no, he did not get the cabin. That was OK.
01:31:21
Ryan
That's right. All right. So that's four. So yeah, we should be good. and Next, next M9 movie.
01:31:24
the_popcorn_podcast
No, but not the cabin. No, because not the cabin was decent.
01:31:27
Ryan
Or was it good? Okay, okay now because you told me it was dog shit, but you also you also saw the Yeah Yeah, yeah Maybe
01:31:30
the_popcorn_podcast
Did you see it? Yeah, six point. I, I, I saw it six months before it came out and then I re-went and saw the real cut, which was an hour shorter and was much better. Um, yeah, it's got six point one, six, seven, nine on run to me. So we got three more shit once until we get a good two more shit once again. And his daughter, I'm really happy that she got to make a movie and there are upsides to that movie.
01:32:00
the_popcorn_podcast
We the watchers. Yeah. um But yeah. Oh, wait, that's what I want to check really quick. Before I let you guys go, I want to tell you what we have coming up.
01:32:08
Ryan
Oh, what do, what do we have coming up?
01:32:13
the_popcorn_podcast
Borderlands.
01:32:16
the_popcorn_podcast
Cuckoo with Hunter Shafer. I'm actually really excited for that movie.
01:32:17
Ryan
