had felt like I was ready. It was kind of calling me. They tell you a lot with different plant medicines that you feel called to work with them. And that was for sure my experience. I know that there is a lot of popularity around some people doing ayahuasca journeys and things like that. That has never personally appealed to me. I very much

was selective and was not looking to get into haphazardly trying different psychedelics. I was not interested in incorporating marijuana into my life. I had used marijuana in the past. Actually, I would say practically abused it. I took it way too often and used it as a method of numbing. So this

Understanding Microdosing

So let's dive in. Let's start at the beginning with what exactly is microdosing psilocybin. So microdosing, the terminology refers to taking a sub perceptual dose of a psychedelic. Some people talk about it.

regarding mushrooms. Some people talk about it regarding LSD. It is a sub perceptual dose, meaning that you do not have a psychedelic experience. You do not hallucinate. It is a very tiny, tiny, tiny dose. There's different variations of doses, but the one that I'm personally experimenting and have been with is really

the lowest. As you may know from if you follow me on Instagram, I am a highly sensitive person. And as I've gotten older, my sensitivities in my body and in my mental state have gotten even more sensitive. And so I did not want to invite in larger doses

The first time I took it, I was following the protocol that was suggested for me and wanted to set a very specific intention with working with it. So with sacred medicines, they carry a deep wisdom to support you in living out your fullest expression.

of who you are. And people have chose to work with psychedelics for thousands of years. So if you are intuitively guided to work with mushrooms, it could be for a variety of reasons. really interesting research has been done on the positive benefits of working intentionally with this medicine. Some of the reasons that you may choose to work with the medicine could be the fact that as you age, especially, it promotes neuroplasticity. It can be a natural alternative for a lift in mood or to help mitigate depressive feelings

anxiety. A big one for me is how it helped me with social anxiety. Other noticed benefits could be focus, creativity. And I'll tell you a little bit about my experience, but these are kind of general reasons why people decide to do this.

Joy, Purpose, and Neuroplasticity

I think my immediate reaction or what I noticed right off the bat was I felt this heaviness kind of lift up off me because I tend to be someone who does put a lot of pressure on themselves and it can feel depressive. I can feel like I am kind of weighted down. And when I took the, even the very first dose, I remember thinking, oh my gosh,

more joy. I felt more light. I was so much happier, just not manically, but at a very steady pace in throughout my day. It was again, I didn't notice anything that freaked me out. I did not have a strong experience. It was like, it felt like more of who I am, if that makes sense.

And the whole intention of this podcast is really to inspire through different modalities, different people, different experiences and awareness ways that we can invite in more of a feeling of light and joy. And so this is absolutely something that did that for me.

Again, different protocols apply to different people. So for me, I did not use it every single day. I at first followed a very specific protocol for 30 days. And depending on if you work with somebody who is guiding you or you go to a program, they may give you recommendations on the frequency and what's best for you as an individual. with anything, not one size fits all. And also to really listen to your intuition. Again, that's how you end up, I think, coming to these types of alternative medicines as you literally are listening to your intuition. You're not going to go out and just try something without checking in with yourself.

So different protocols may apply. Some people I know go for a few months at a time. Some people do a few days on, a few days off. Some people do take it every day, I believe. It just kind of depends. At first, I was pretty regimented in what I was doing and how I was using it until I got more comfortable. And then once I got more comfortable, I really have been intuitively led since then.

What is happening is really fascinating with taking, and again, I would encourage you to do some of your own research, of course. But what happens is that we open up and we reprogram some of our neural pathways and our neuroplasticity is affected. So what that means is that our brains become more receptive

we are able to tap into different grooves. So like, let's say you have something that you have been working through with regards to maybe self-talk or your feelings about yourself, your self-worth, some programming that you have been trying to

So what happens is this allows you within your brain chemistry to stop putting such a groove if you will have neuro pathways work of repeating the same thing and repeating that groove and it gets very deep and ingrained in us. This opens us up to different programming to starting different tracks to different grooves. And it's subtle

I will say that I feel like it's subtle. I've noticed some of the things that I personally noticed was I, at that point when I started, I was really kind of struggling with my focus and attention. And the type of microdose that I take also has lion's mane in it, which is enhancing for focus. It's a, you know, an herbal mushroom that people use commonly for

uh, helps for attentiveness and focus. So the type that I take uses that it has a blend of that. And so for me, I definitely noticed more focus, more creativity. Like I said, I was just, it was a lift from my mood and with how much we are exposed to in our everyday life, all the demands, all the things, I mean,

Social Anxiety and Healing Awareness

Small talk is very draining to me. Social interactions can kind of go either way. I mean, I can get almost high from them and feel

So when I am in a social situation, the microdose has absolutely helped me to feel more at ease and to feel more light and conversational. And it has helped mitigate some of that, which is a very

It can be very challenging. I don't know if anybody deals with a tendency towards social anxiety, but it can kind of leave you feeling vulnerable in unexpected ways, ways that are misunderstood. Many people don't understand necessarily how that works or why people have social anxiety.

So as I have used it, I have been able to, I think the biggest thing for me is I have been able to really trust and root down into my own creativity and my own expression through this podcast, uh, launching this, making a decision to launch this and following through with it. Um,

And I think in the past, those were some things that I was shoving under the rug. I didn't want to look at necessarily. And this has brought it in

trajectories for communications and relationships. And I just want to also say that I have felt more self secure. I don't know if that's a word exactly, but I wanted breakthroughs. I wanted change and transformation. And in the past I was a bit frustrated because I felt like there was something subconsciously holding me back.

It's normal when we don't feel

be more courageous to look at certain areas and make different choices. And that's as we know how we actually get the transformation. We have the information, we have the knowledge, we know we watch other people and we're like, wow, I see every piece of the puzzle and how that played out and how they got from point A to point B in these incredible transformations

that are available. But applying it is a whole different muscle. It takes courage and it takes sometimes reconciling areas and places within ourselves that we are either consciously afraid to go to or most of the time we are completely not even aware of how much it's influencing us.

Parenting and Natural Solutions

So taking this medicine with intention has definitely allowed me to be more aligned with my purpose and more have a confidence in my sense of direction. And then the other bonuses have been improvement in my, I mean, my kids definitely I feel are better for it.

because I have been more lighthearted. I've been more fun. I haven't been taking things as seriously. I've been more tolerant. I've been more tolerant. And for me, I'm someone who comes from a nature of wanting to control and wanting to have everything in a certain predictable way.

You know, when you have, when you have a family and you have kids, you know, they throw you curve balls all day long. And my reactivity in the past, I, you know, some of that is hard to look back on because I know that was not handled in the best way possible. And so I definitely have been more, um,

light and more happy as a mom. And as a mom, I think that that is one of the most powerful things that we can do for our families is to be happy, to be lighthearted. And of course, like there's hard stuff going on. There's absolutely hard stuff going on. It's not about ignoring that or pretending it's not happening.

But humor does go a long way and coming back to ourselves and repairing, repairing if, if things get too intense and heavy. And I've been able, I feel like now to have more of a perspective on myself in a positive, both in a realistic way of how I was maybe a little too heavy handed and also on the other side, give myself some credit for now showing up in a more positive and lighthearted way.

But I want to say that the outward relational benefits and being more tolerant, being more patient, having more joy and more lightheartedness has come because I've been able to more deeply connect with my inner self and been able to give myself a break more. If you've been around me or know me, prefer a natural solution, but I'm absolutely not someone who is anti medication. We have people, I have people in my house to use medication.
