bladesedge: good Good morning, Barovia. And welcome back to the Blade's Edge. um We are playing through the module Curse of Strahd, as if you're listening to this episode, you probably know that. Last we left off, the characters finished Death House, ah made their way to a town called Kresk, needing needing a place to rest, as it's been a couple of days for our Our heroes, I think heroes is like is a is ah ah word we can use. I mean, we're killing dogs, but for the greater good, Vesrak, Bainvall, Gilman, Graves, Roy Halovich, Valerius, Moonstone made their way to Kresk, met the burgomaster of Kresk, Dimitri, who said, if you want entrance into my town, you have to do something for me.
gil: Yeah, heroes.
bladesedge: He seemed a bit distressed, and he wanted you to go to a place called the Wizard of Wines. um and get a couple barrels and bring it back to him as you made your way there. um As you made your way there, you met um the Mardukov family, Davian Mardukov, his family, some grandchildren even, Uh, who run the wizard of wines, uh, compound factory, and it had been taken over recently by evil druids. So you made your way to the place snuck in. You have kind of dismantled everybody inside, but you know that you are sort of kind of becoming surrounded outside with these tree ant beings that don't necessarily know that you're in there, but, uh, you know, vine blights, needle blights, things of that nature.
bladesedge: And you guys, you've secured the barrels of wine that you needed. um You are in this place, um Gilman. You did some research on this place. You knew that um this is, you know, this is basically wine is the lifeblood of Barovian people is what you came in looking through the ledgers. One of the only indulgences that these people get ah in a in a.
gil: Yeah, it turns those frowns upside down.
bladesedge: Yeah, in a place so full of despair. um
gil: Booze the cure hall.
bladesedge: Yes. And, uh, yeah, exactly. You know, that you, you read that there was three different kinds. There was, uh, an unremarkable kind called purple, great mash. Number three, there was a slightly more tantalizing red dragon crush, and there was a rich champagne. duustan um It seems like, ah yeah yeah, exactly.
gil: wow
Kyle: Was there a Pacific cooler?
bladesedge: There's there's, and then they also make a Pacific cooler.
Kyle: Cool.
gil: Yeah. Well, what about cactus cooler?
bladesedge: Yeah. They do, they, well, they manufacture that, but everybody everybody knows that. I didn't, I didn't forget it had to tell you.
gil: Oh, sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Yeah.
bladesedge: Three wines, a Pacific cooler and cactus cooler. It's canon.
gil: Squirt is cannon in most of our campaigns. However, however, cactus cooler, Pacific cooler, surfer cooler, miscellaneous Capri sun flavors. I like that.
Kyle: love it
bladesedge: um As you guys, you're you're there, you've you've located the barrels, you've done some research in the house, and as you've come down here to the basement where there's the last sort of bottles of wine, that you could grab to bring back to the Burger Master Dimitri of Kresk and some barrels potentially in the other room, you see through the wine rack a druid and some of these guys, these sort of needle blight people, not the ones that you fought in the forest, but the ones that you saw and slightly bigger coming to surround this house.
bladesedge: And we are starting this episode off with an initiative role.
gil: Oh yeah, baby.
Kyle: Oh yeah, it's it's all coming back to me.
bladesedge: So go ahead and yeah, try and roll initiative. And if it doesn't get you in there, I'm adding you guys in the turn order manually.
bladesedge: Your familiars and stuff will go on your guys's turns.
gil: Wowie.
bladesedge: Alright, Roy, what'd you roll?
Kyle: I rolled a 7.
bladesedge: Roll to seven, cool. Alright, so as you guys get down here, you see these other people on the other side of the wine racks, and they notice you. Uh, in addition, the last remaining things you need to get her, you know, are in that room. In that room. Sorry. And, uh, Valerius with that being said, Gilman's and Roy leading the charge down here, Hugh and Lancelot, uh, ghostly Lancelot being summoned by Roy, uh, part of his beast master trait, um, in the middle, uh, Vezrak and his familiar Istra, uh, leading up the rear. You act first. What would you like to do?
Trevor: Oh shit. Okay. So I see through, I can see like through these things right here are those like racks kind of with slits.
bladesedge: Yeah, you yeah, you kind of just see on the other side, there are six beings.
Trevor: All those things.
bladesedge: Yeah.
Trevor: Okay.
bladesedge: Five needle blights and a druid.
Trevor: Does everybody have dark vision?
Kyle: Yes.
Trevor: I'm going fuck.
gil: Oh yeah, baby.
Trevor: i This could go poorly, but I'm gonna panic and I'm gonna go 5 10 15
bladesedge: So you're writing Valeria starts to rush forward.
Trevor: 20 25 so I can see everybody and I'm going to channel my divinity I'm gonna channel the shit out of this divinity
bladesedge: Cool.
gil: Ooh.
Trevor: and it says as an action you can use channel divinity present your holy symbol to extinguish any source of mundane or magical light within 30 feet additionally each hostile creature within 30 feet that doesn't have total cover make a consave throw which is just for me i think it's just a dc 13 it's pretty low or become blinded for three rounds and if you
gil: Whoa.
Kyle: Oh my god.
Trevor: An affected creature makes a new saving throw at the end of each turn, ending the effect on a success.
gil: Lights off.
bladesedge: Absolutely love that. So um but as you pull out your holy symbol, do you have a ah God's name that you utter in this moment?
Trevor: Fuck yeah, it's a shit. What's her name? I forget her name.
Kyle: My favorite god. Shit.
Trevor: Shit.
Trevor: What's this?
bladesedge: My favorite got shit.
Trevor: sort of a smelly smell
bladesedge: Fuck. I mean, no, i don no, the name's not it's the name's not shit.
Kyle: and
bladesedge: Fuck. It's ah
Vesz_rak: see but You see like scrolling to the front of his book that he has.
Trevor: It's closed, I think it rhymes.
bladesedge: han
Trevor: sp
bladesedge: Sehanin?
Vesz_rak: He's like, what's your name? What's your name?
Kyle: Yeah.
Vesz_rak: What's your name?
Trevor: Yeah, yeah, yeah, nice.
bladesedge: Sehanin, hilarious?
gil: Say her name.
Trevor: I can't wanna say saloon, but I know it wasn't saloon.
gil: Say my name.
bladesedge: Cool.
Trevor: Sehanin.
bladesedge: um All right, so they all need to make con saves, right?
Trevor: Yep, yeah, DC's just 13.
bladesedge: Everybody that you can see.
Trevor: Everybody who doesn't have total cover from me, yeah, yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: Is that correct?
bladesedge: Cool. I'd say there's there's one guy that is.
Trevor: Okay, cool, that guy back there.
bladesedge: Yeah, he's not on your. Yeah, you and that guy currently.
Trevor: Hang on five, then 15, 20, 25.
bladesedge: All right, here we go.
Trevor: Yeah, I'm going to.
bladesedge: Here are their con saves. ah We'll start with the needle blights back left.
Trevor: yeah
bladesedge: um They've all just got plus one, so.
Trevor: um Okay.
bladesedge: ah Back.
Trevor: So you're saying there's a chance.
bladesedge: Back left rolls a 16.
Trevor: Okay. Let's save.
bladesedge: Back right rolls a natural one.
Trevor: Let's go love that.
Kyle: Mmm.
gil: Love it!
bladesedge: ah Because of that natural one, I'm going to roll disadvantage for this guy at the front left.
Kyle: Just blind as hell.
bladesedge: That's a four. It would have failed either way.
gil: YOGE!
bladesedge: I rolled a three and a six.
Trevor: Ooh, let's go.
bladesedge: ah Bottom right. ah Another six for a total of seven.
Trevor: Wow.
gil: Oh yeah!
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle: Wow.
bladesedge: We've got three blinded, one not blinded. And then the druid who looks like in charge of these things will roll and also has a plus one.
bladesedge: Six.
gil: Oh yeah!
bladesedge: Whoa.
Trevor: Wow.
bladesedge: like Six, six.
Kyle: Nice. Wow.
bladesedge: Uh oh.
Kyle: That's huge.
gil: Oh wait, 666, three dice in a row.
Trevor: Ooh, spooky.
bladesedge: On the horror D and D podcast. All right.
gil: That's what I'm talking about.
bladesedge: So one not blinded and another one that was in total cover also not blinded.
Trevor: fuck yeah uh and then i'll use that was 5 10 15 20 i'll use the rest of my five movement to go diagonally in this direction
bladesedge: ah But the rest of them are blind.
bladesedge: Cool. For those of you guys in game and listening, a blinded creature can't see and automatically fails any ability check that requires sight attack roles against the creature have advantage and the creature's attack roles have disadvantage.
Kyle: um like
Kyle: Wow.
bladesedge: All right. And is that your turn?
gil: And.
bladesedge: belarious
Trevor: Uh, I think that, yeah, let me make sure I don't have any bonus actions.
Kyle: This is gonna be a spooned round of combat.
Trevor: Um, actually, shit. You know what? Fuck it.
gil: citizen and
Trevor: Let's get a little, let's go nutso. Let's do my, uh, for a bonus action, I'm going to cast, uh, Veil of Dusk on myself using a first level slot. Veil of Dusk is a, you incant towards the creature. cloaking them in a veil of darkness. And so I'm just doing this on myself. The target gains a plus one bonus to their AC and makes stealth checks with advantage for the duration of the spell.
gil: Hoo -hoo!
bladesedge: Cool. Um, and lucky you as this guy's blinded, his plan before you'd blinded him was to run an attack Roy. So this guy is going to, um, Oh five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, hilarious. And then he's going to dash past you being blind, not knowing ah where you went, but knowing that he wants to get to Roy.
Trevor: Okay.
Trevor: Oh, okay.
bladesedge: So, which gives you an opportunity attack.
Trevor: Oh yeah. I'll give it a shot. I'll take my quarter staff and just try and clothesline them right in the face.
Kyle: Close my name.
Trevor: You know what I mean? Yeah.
bladesedge: Cool.
Trevor: You got 16. What do we think?
bladesedge: Oh yeah, baby. 16 hits.
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle: What is advantage, right?
bladesedge: Oh yeah. Cause he's, cause he's, he's blinded.
Trevor: Oh, do I, do I not Tony?
bladesedge: Yeah. Not 20.
Trevor: Okay.
Kyle: Yeah, just look for the, yeah.
Trevor: No, still just a 16.
bladesedge: No. Damn.
bladesedge: Okay.
Trevor: This one clothesline and would be a two handed THWACK, five plus one for six damage.
bladesedge: Ooh, big six damage as he comes through.
gil: oh oh
bladesedge: I'm going to say he makes it to Roy, but because he was running so fast, but you stick your, your staff out, he runs straight into it and flies backwards, home alone style.
Trevor: Well, let's go.
bladesedge: And not only is he blind Roy, but he's also prone in front of you on the ground as he ends his turn there.
Kyle: Oh my god.
gil: Boom.
Kyle: Poor guy.
gil: Wowee.
Trevor: Uh, you do, Bri, you also get to make that, he gets to make that con save at the end of anybody who's blind can make the save again at the end of their turns.
bladesedge: Oh.
bladesedge: Cool. He's still blinded.
Trevor: guess
bladesedge: So I will. um I will. I will give him a little. This will be the blind thing. All right. Now, this guy who's and who who had total cover is going to go five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 around you, Valerius.
Trevor: Okay.
bladesedge: um And he is going to. ah attempts to attack you this big needle blights, uh, pretty tall, kind of this, like the the height of you guys, as you know, you fought those twig blights that were really tiny. Um, but this guy is just going to take a claw attack on you as his hand comes up.
Trevor: Okay.
bladesedge: A seven plus three is a 10, which misses.
Trevor: Nice.
gil: Oh yeah.
bladesedge: swings blindly into the darkness that surrounds you. This school teacher. ah First you saw a haunted house and ghosts and then you got lost in the mist. And now you're in the cellar of a winery fighting alive plants.
Trevor: Just another day in the life.
bladesedge: Just another day.
gil: Yeah.
Kyle: Mondays, am I right?
Trevor: Dude, summer vacations are wild for teachers.
gil: this isn
Trevor: Let me tell you.
gil: ah
Vesz_rak: It's like when you see your teacher outside of school for the first time, it's like, I wonder it's like i wonder what they get up to.
bladesedge: This
bladesedge: ah
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: Yeah.
Vesz_rak: you ah
Trevor: Oh, there yeah actually they're people.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: They're actually humans.
Kyle: yeah
Trevor: This is crazy.
bladesedge: I'm to say this guy is going to go five, also blinded. So let me give him this. ah Five, ah ten, enter this room. Fifteen, twenty. Also go. He's going to try to go twenty five thirty. But this guy's prone in front of him and he's blind. So he's going to make a dexterity saving throw to see if he trips over him. ah We'll call it a we'll call it a DC twelve ah plus one. All right. He makes it. So he did have to dash to get there. So that is his turn and he'll roll his blind save and he makes it.
Kyle: Aww.
Trevor: Nice.
bladesedge: So as he gets there, his eyes open and he looks around. Uh, now able to go next turn, but now there's, so there's three needle blights in the room with you and Vess rack. You are up. You and Istra.
Vesz_rak: So i see I see obviously three needle blights. I'm gonna extend my hand and I'm going to cast Magic Missile at a first level.
bladesedge: o
Vesz_rak: And I'm gonna do these a little bit slower, but so the first two are gonna go at the one in front of Roy, the one that's not blinded.
bladesedge: Okay. Slow motion, magic vessels, dude.
Vesz_rak: So slow motion, freeze frame, rotate the cat grunty the camera.
bladesedge: Just ki killing him so slow, going into his chest at like snail's pace. Ow, ow, ow.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, yeah, he's saying time slows for you.
Kyle: and Nice.
gil: yeah
Vesz_rak: No, no, no. Okay, so here's the first one on him.
bladesedge: Cool. Yeah. These auto hit these magic missiles that come out of your hands.
gil: o Oh.
Vesz_rak: Four damage. ah
bladesedge: This guy has not taken a damage. So he takes that full four as first damage he's taken.
Vesz_rak: Second magic missile coming out. Another five damage by nine.
gil: Oh.
Trevor: Oof.
bladesedge: Oh, that's huge.
Vesz_rak: tall How's he looking? at How's he looking? as i As I look to find another target, is he still up?
bladesedge: He's still up. He's very hurts.
Vesz_rak: He didn't hear no bell. Okay, here's a third one.
bladesedge: He didn't hear no Bell.
Trevor: yes Whoa.
gil: Yeah, why don't you break some of those branches off, buddy?
Vesz_rak: yeah Third one.
bladesedge: So what?
Vesz_rak: Third one, slow motion, time stops, camera pans.
Kyle: oh Oh my god.
Vesz_rak: Another five damage, Brian.
gil: Mmm.
bladesedge: As this guy's eyes open, the last thing he sees are, will you describe what your magic missiles look like?
Vesz_rak: So obviously we're still in slow motion. All three of my magic missiles coalesce into one giant loaf -like spider and just chomp down on him, consuming him whole.
Kyle: Oh.
bladesedge: Nice. I love that.
Trevor: That's fucking cool.
bladesedge: ah He drops to the ground. and half of his body taken off by these, by these spiders. The other half turning into non magical plant matter on the ground.
Kyle: you
bladesedge: um Any bonus actions or movement for you?
Vesz_rak: ah First off, ew, gross, weird plant thing. I will move Istra 20 feet deeper into the room ah by Valyrias. So I'll go 5, 10, 15, 20, and that'll be my turn.
bladesedge: Cool. All right. Your spider familiar heads further into the room.
Trevor: Let's go.
bladesedge: All right, the druid who is also currently blinded is gonna go five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. He's gonna go here, he's blinded. I think he's gonna make these evil druids are a little crazy. I'd say you also see this guy, this druid has these like tattoos on his body. I think maybe you saw like pieces of these tattoos on the other druids that you've seen so far.
bladesedge: But this guy has sort of the most like tattoos on his body. They're like these and they're like they're blue, but they're almost like an aqua blue tattoo um over this guy's arms.
Kyle: Mm.
bladesedge: And he has a big circle in his on his forehead. um And he is going to
bladesedge: Uh, he's going to get right there and he knew where Roy was. So I think he's just going to make a produce flame attack, throw it at Roy. Hope he's still there. He has disadvantage on this attack. So, okay. Um, range spell attack. If you're your hit, it was like a D eight. of damage, got a plus four at disadvantage. So he rolls four, which would miss.
Kyle: GG's.
bladesedge: Yeah. So no need to roll. Yep. They both four or five.
gil: Oh, baby.
Kyle: Brutal.
Vesz_rak: He's lost and confused.
bladesedge: he He throws it. It hits the back wall. He has no idea. He maybe thinks he did a good job. Let's see if he gets his sight back.
Vesz_rak: He does a little fist bump in the air.
bladesedge: No.
Kyle: Oh my God.
Vesz_rak: This guy sucks.
Kyle: Yo, this guy sucks.
gil: Dang.
Vesz_rak: He hits his head on a banister or something.
Trevor: Oh no.
bladesedge: ah While the other Druids were spent training their shit, he was busy off getting tattoos, I guess.
Trevor: I'm slamming wine.
gil: Yeah. Hey.
bladesedge: So he slammed and whined.
Kyle: Natural one.
Vesz_rak: No, guys, it'll look so much cooler that tattoos will really enhance my druid casting ability.
bladesedge: yeah
Trevor: yeah
Kyle: Yeah.
gil: Hahaha.
bladesedge: This guy who is not blinded as well, they one guy who saved will go five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. He's going to go right here. And this guy holds his arm out. And at the end of his arm, you see his hand almost opens up his hand, like moves like the tree bark opens to make this circle arm cannon that he shoots some needles out of his arm. That's right.
gil: Oh.
Vesz_rak: That's freaked up.
bladesedge: It's a plus three. A sixteen to hit.
Vesz_rak: That'll hit.
bladesedge: Okay. Uh. You take four points of piercing damage could have been way worse.
gil: Oh.
Vesz_rak: Okay, I take it all. Way worse. The 2D6 on the damage, I'll take i'll take the three day.
gil: Wow.
bladesedge: I wrote a one and a two plus one.
Trevor: God damn.
bladesedge: Uh, he shoots this these cannon needles out of his arm as these needles start sticking out of, uh, those racks front. That is his turn.
gil: I am Groot.
bladesedge: Roy. You got a prone guy in front of you, one behind him, one at the back of the room, a druid two are blinded.
Trevor: I am Groot.
bladesedge: What would you like to do?
Kyle: Um, quick question. Um, so my beast of the land, the charge, uh, the charge attack, I guess the charge like feature says if the beast moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with them all attack on the same turn, it's an extra 1d6.
bladesedge: Yes.
bladesedge: Hmm.
Kyle: Does it have to be like in a straight line or does it mean just like bolting it towards the target?
bladesedge: Does it say straight line?
Kyle: It says if the boot, uh, 20 feet straight toward a target.
bladesedge: Yeah, I think it would have to be. Yeah, you couldn't just go like, like left, right, down, up, left, right, down, up, right, right.
Kyle: Like diagonal and then...
bladesedge: Like a cheat code in grand theft auto.
gil: But you could, you could go a step to the left.
bladesedge: You could back up.
Trevor: Yeah, what you could is that.
Kyle: yeah Does it cost movement to step over a prone enemy?
gil: You go a step to the left and then run like a bull.
bladesedge: ah You could back up and then go if you have enough movements.
bladesedge: Uh, yeah, I'm going through an enemies token on this roll 20 that we're using for those of you listening. Um, you can't technically go through an enemy space. Um, you have to go around their token. You can move through friendly tokens.
Kyle: Okay. All right. Well, and in that case, just for now, just yeah.
bladesedge: Like if you were trying to get to the druid, for example, you could run in between Gilman's legs. Over, over towards this needle blight under Valerius's legs and go get to right there. You would just be incurring an opportunity attack from this needle blade.
Kyle: Yeah, I mean, the only reason I was going to do that is to get the charge buff to try and knock him prone, but there's not really a way that I can do that.
bladesedge: Yeah.
bladesedge: Yeah, you can. If you, if you go through Gilman's legs here and then you, you, uh, whip around this wine rack through Valerius's legs.
Kyle: Uh -huh.
Trevor: Charge
bladesedge: That's straight to me. That is what I get by the meaning straight.
Trevor: up.
Kyle: Where you're not like backing up, going around a ton of different stuff.
bladesedge: Yeah, exactly.
Kyle: then let's do that.
bladesedge: If there was a guy 10 feet from you and you just made a little circle and then ran towards him, that's not a straight line.
Trevor: charge up
Kyle: Yeah.
bladesedge: Just to get the 20 feet. Yeah.
Kyle: Yeah, just be line be lining it to the best of my ability to an enemy.
bladesedge: Yeah.
Kyle: Cool, then then I would like to do that.
bladesedge: Cool. Yeah, you, you have control over this new token I gave you here.
Kyle: Oh, I do have control. Okay. So we're gonna go here, here, here, boom. And I do incur an opportunity attack from this guy.
bladesedge: You do. Yes. Uh, who will just take a claw attack on, on Lancelot, uh, hitting for, uh, five plus one is six points of damage.
Vesz_rak: you
gil: Ghost Lancelot.
bladesedge: Ghost Lancelot now has 14 HP.
Kyle: Okay, so... Yes, correct. Okay, and then I'm gonna take the attack, which is going to be... Oh wait, no, I gotta i gotta roll to see if it hits.
bladesedge: Yeah, you got to roll to hit.
bladesedge: You roll a D20.
Kyle: That is a...
bladesedge: Ah, you have advantage because the druid is blinded.
Kyle: Oh, I do.
Kyle: Man, an eight.
bladesedge: So you rolled an eight. What's that eight add?
Kyle: Oh, it's, it's, it would be, uh, sorry, it'd be 12.
bladesedge: Ah, OK. That's what it does miss.
Kyle: Um, all right. And then Roy is going to take two attacks on this prone guy. Are these auto crits or is it just, would it just be advantage?
bladesedge: No, it's just advantage.
Kyle: Okay.
Kyle: So first attack.
bladesedge: So I believe if you're, you have to use your bonus action to have your beast attack. So you would only have one attack on your attack action because you're level three.
Kyle: Correct. Oh, okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay. That's fine. I just rolled damage. That's hilarious. It is a 14 to hits.
gil: Huge.
bladesedge: 14 absolutely hits this guy but you do have advantage if you'd like to see if you crit 14
Kyle: Sure.
gil: Fishin' for criticals.
Kyle: Oh, it was so close.
gil: Ugh.
gil: Panic at the Disco Song?
Kyle: there we
bladesedge: definitely hits yet new panic definitely not old panic cool
Kyle: I can just use that attack rule that I accidentally ruled.
bladesedge: Yeah, nine damage. So ah what with your short sword, you bring your your sword down, ah slice at this thing. And as you do, you cut like you get the sense you cut like a vein. But because he's made of fully like tree bark, you cut like a vine that's going through this thing's bark like neck. And as you cut it, you see his whole body turn into like non magical bark matter laying on the floor.
Trevor: sick fire
gil: Ooh, you almost got sap blasted.
Kyle: Love it.
bladesedge: Um, and let's cool.
Kyle: um That's going to be my turn.
bladesedge: Let's go ahead and let me just make sure for you. Let's go ahead and just go to ranger beast master companions. Do in combat, the beast acts in your turns and it can move and use its reaction on its own. But the only action it takes is the dodge action. Unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action, such as attack.
Kyle: Cool.
bladesedge: Cool. So we're just making sure that I got that right. Two dead needle blights in this room and Gilmond Graves, you are up.
gil: Yeah, so I see the ghost of Lancelot. um
gil: Charge ahead through my legs and around, and it feels feels familiar. It feels like I don't necessarily deserve to to see even the ghost of Lancelot and seeing him attack this druid, I foolof fool pull out two spectral blades and sling them at the druid. um And the first one is going to be.
bladesedge: Nice.
gil: Oh, oh, oh, we're gonna roll. We're gonna roll. First one is gonna actually be a nat one.
bladesedge: It's okay. You have advantage. He's still blinded.
gil: Oh, baby, baby, baby. We love to see that.
bladesedge: ah yeah Even if you didn't even if you didn't have, um, you get your sneak attack because you have, uh, comrades within five feet, but you would get it even if you didn't because they're blinded.
gil: Cause that's a 24.
Trevor: oh yeah
Kyle: Oh.
bladesedge: So roll that.
gil: True. So that's five damage and then um my sneaky attack damage is gonna be four additional damage.
bladesedge: Well, that's sneak attack, baby.
bladesedge: Nice guy takes nine damage from the first psychic blade that you throw out.
Trevor: Oh
gil: And then my left hand fun flings the second blade out for nine.
Trevor: God.
bladesedge: He's still advantage. He's still blinded.
gil: Oh, that is and with it that is with advantage. I rolled two.
bladesedge: Ah, OK, cool. um Yeah, then the second one misses, but this blind druid has taken a decent amount of damage so far.
gil: Yeah. Hey, let let me just check something real quick to make sure. Cause I know I got these new psionic abilities. I want to make sure I can't, um, I can't add a D six to an attack role. Can I?
bladesedge: No, it's ability checks that you're proficient in and you can expend one to communicate telepathically, which I believe you did do today.
gil: Aha.
gil: I did. Yes. Beautiful.
bladesedge: Cool.
gil: Great. That is my turn.
bladesedge: All right. You stay in there behind the wine rack. Uh, there's one last needle blight who is blind, who is going to go five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and dash and just go five, 10. Feel the druid in front of him, not be able to move through his token because Lancelot's there because there's never an action to move him. So he's staying right where he is. Top of the second round. Valerius you're up.
Trevor: All right, let's go. um I think Valerius is going to cast Word of Radiance again.
bladesedge: Love that. So is that we you ah display that for me?
Trevor: No.
bladesedge: Is it every enemy within five feet of you?
Trevor: Yeah, here. Let's see.
bladesedge: Or is it every thing?
Trevor: Display in VTT. Good question.
bladesedge: Each creature of your choice that you can see within range, which is five feet can save or take one to six rating damage. Nice.
Trevor: Section.
bladesedge: So let's let's go ahead and make those the here's the needle blight behind you.
Trevor: Yeah.
bladesedge: Another con say it's just plus one.
bladesedge: 18 for that guy.
Trevor: Save. It's a, it'll be a 13 again.
bladesedge: Here's the guy.
Trevor: It's pretty well.
bladesedge: All right. The guy down below to the left with a 14 and then the druid for the druid fails.
Kyle: Ah.
Trevor: All right. Nice. Take it.
gil: oh
Trevor: We'll click D six. Ooh, for some six damage.
bladesedge: Nice.
gil: Oh, yeah.
Kyle: Nice.
Trevor: Let's go.
bladesedge: Druids looking hurt.
gil: The power of Christ compels you.
bladesedge: Druids looking, where sometimes we'll use the phrase bloodied ah for those of you listening and a bloodied means he's below half hit points.
Trevor: Fuck yeah. Um, that will, that'll be my turn. I will, I'll just hang here.
bladesedge: Okay.
bladesedge: All right. Just next guy that was going to go, uh, is dead. He's the guy that's laying over here by Roy. So the guy behind you will go and he will attempt once again to make another claw attack. Uh, you still have that plus one to your AC. He rolls, he rolls a dirty 20.
Trevor: Oh yeah, that's gonna, that's gonna hit.
Trevor: Wait, is he, he's not blinded, right?
bladesedge: That guy's not blinded.
Trevor: um I'm gonna use my reaction to use my ward of shadows, which says when you're attacked by a creature that can be blinded within 30 feet that you can see, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll.
bladesedge: Nice.
gil: Mmm, delicious.
bladesedge: Um, okay. Here we go. Uh, and is that a proficiency bonus amount of uses or just every reaction?
Trevor: It is, it's three times for long rest, which is my wisdom modifier.
bladesedge: Love that. So here we go. Here's his next role at disadvantage 13.
Trevor: Let's go 13 misses.
bladesedge: 13 misses with your with your pulse when you see ah this guy can't seem to see through the darkness. um And I actually think because you use your reaction and he's missed twice, he's going to leave and he's going to go five, 10.
Trevor: Cool.
bladesedge: And get up on you, Gilland.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: ah This next guy is dead. um So, Vesrak, you're up. Ister's in the mix. Lancelot's in the mix. Back of the room. Vesrak, what are you doing?
Vesz_rak: I'm probably just going to stay here ah right where I am, seeing everyone's. Pretty bloody, well, not everyone's pretty bloody, but I'm just going to keep shoot another magic missile, essentially.
bladesedge: Cool. Yeah, these other ah blights, that these other needle blights, none of these three have taken damage. but the only guy in the room that's bloody is the druid.
Vesz_rak: Well, I'm going for the druid. I'm going to try and finish him off, so I'm going to cast magic missile again at our first level.
bladesedge: Cool.
bladesedge: Okay.
Vesz_rak: ah First one at the druid.
Vesz_rak: Ooh, and as that hits, I'm actually going to use for the first time, uh, Sanguine burst.
Trevor: Ooh.
Vesz_rak: Uh, and I'll link that, which is a part of my blood magic. Uh, whenever I roll damage on a spell you've cast at first level or higher, I can choose to take necrotic damage equal to that spells level, uh, to reroll up to three damage dice. Um, so I'm just going to reroll that one.
bladesedge: Cool.
gil: Oh, hello.
Vesz_rak: So I'll roll a D four, cause I rolled a one.
bladesedge: So is this a, you take one point of damage?
Vesz_rak: Yes, I'll take one point of damage. You see after the magic missile lands, you see me take out my knife Charlo car and cut my hand to enhance the damage.
Trevor: Oh.
bladesedge: Nice.
Vesz_rak: So 1d4, that'll be a three total. 1d4 plus one on the druid.
bladesedge: Cool. So he he takes this, he takes the higher of the two. So instead of him just taking two damage, he takes three or is this added to the two?
Vesz_rak: ah He takes it instead.
bladesedge: He's instead. So he takes three instead of two.
Vesz_rak: Yes, correct.
bladesedge: Cool.
Vesz_rak: And is he still up?
bladesedge: He is still up, by the way, sanguine, and one of the most beautiful words in the English language. I've always thought that.
Vesz_rak: Hey, you're welcome. Brought to you by Vesrak, your blood your blood mage wizard.
bladesedge: Yeah.
gil: yeah
bladesedge: And for those of you who don't know that, it just means blood red. It's just like the color of blood saying sanguine. Yeah.
Vesz_rak: And we'll ah shoot another one, Adam, see see how that works for four damage, is he still up?
bladesedge: Cool.
bladesedge: He takes this for damage, these spider like ah missiles hitting him and he is still up, but he's looking pretty rough.
Vesz_rak: This guy's tough, Brian. Who is this guy?
bladesedge: He's not. Yeah, he's not.
Vesz_rak: Who is this guy? OK, last one goes straight at the dome. He's getting all of them.
bladesedge: yeah These druids, you guys have fought, have had kind of a lot of hit points in all things considered.
Vesz_rak: and
Vesz_rak: And due to my Sanguine Burst, I'm going to re -roll this two.
bladesedge: Nice. So do you take another one point of damage?
Vesz_rak: This is like a re -roll up to three. like how do you want to Do you want me to do the ginger?
bladesedge: Yeah. Why don't you go ahead and link it for me?
Vesz_rak: Yeah.
bladesedge: Let's, let's read it together.
Vesz_rak: I'm, for those of you listening, this is my first time playing a wizard, so I am ah pretty new to it.
bladesedge: That is, I know empirically, that is not true. ha You played a graviturgy wizard.
Vesz_rak: Well, for like a few one shots I did.
bladesedge: Oh, yeah.
Vesz_rak: ah
bladesedge: You learn how to weave your life force in a spell you cast, but it's intense at the cost of it. Whenever you roll damage for a spell you've cast for so far, you can choose to take the correct damage, equal the spell's level to roll a number of damage that is equal to your intelligence mod. And your intelligence mod is high, right?
Vesz_rak: It's 17 or plus three.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Tommy.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, can you hear me? I'm still here. Hello?
bladesedge: Tommy.
gil: He exploded.
Vesz_rak: Yeah.
Trevor: if if fell asleep
gil: The way the way I read it is.
bladesedge: I think I know I i read, it I read it the same way.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: I'm just looking for what his intelligence mod is.
Vesz_rak: Check, check. Oh, there we go.
gil: There he is, there he is.
Trevor: there
Vesz_rak: I see.
bladesedge: Cool. And what is your intelligence mod Tommy?
Vesz_rak: Plus three, it's 17.
bladesedge: Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Yeah, you're good. Absolutely. Good, good to know that it is. It is. Yeah. Up to so like, yeah, if you rolled fireball and it's 86, you could reroll three of those D six.
Trevor: He
bladesedge: So for um this, you're absolutely.
Trevor: fell asleep.
bladesedge: So you could also, do you, ah do you always take the new one or did you take the higher?
Vesz_rak: ah
bladesedge: Uh, you reroll the dice.
Vesz_rak: You must use the new rolls Yeah, but I yeah you have to take the new one um So I'll reroll the two so 1d4 have to take this new roll For a 4 plus 1 which is 5 damage Brian Yes
bladesedge: Okay. Okay. Okay. Cause I was going to say you could also reroll that four, but yeah, true. Cool.
Trevor: Let's go.
gil: Yeah.
Kyle: Nice.
bladesedge: Take a little screenshot here for you. He had five health left. How do you kill this?
Trevor: Oh let's go.
bladesedge: Good.
Vesz_rak: Um, this one, I feel like since it's an actual person and not a plant being, I would like to think that, um, this time when the spider, the spider magic missiles, uh, impact him, he gets kind of, uh, a part of him gets taken down and sacrificed to loaf.
bladesedge: Okay.
Vesz_rak: That's my idea of it.
bladesedge: Nice. And go ahead and go ahead and roll me a d6.
Vesz_rak: Here's D six coming right at you.
Vesz_rak: A six, Brian.
gil: Oh. oh
Vesz_rak: i'm rolling I'm rolling hot.
Kyle: Damn.
Vesz_rak: Usually Brian's rolling hot.
bladesedge: Six. OK.
Trevor: God damn.
Vesz_rak: Today, you guys are actually rolling hot.
bladesedge: It's my turn.
bladesedge: OK, so. um
bladesedge: You kill this druid as he falls. His tattoos on his body begin to glow.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: And all of you in a language you don't understand begin to hear whispers. ah by i i
bladesedge: You hear one word that you recognize. You hear, Oh, oh, say this.
gil: Oh, we've heard that word.
Vesz_rak: Oh, Sybus.
bladesedge: And I do need, I need, I need everybody, all of you guys to roll wisdom saving throws.
Kyle: That's who Strahd isn't.
Vesz_rak: Oh, no, not like this.
Kyle: God.
Trevor: Oh dear.
gil: That's a 15 whizzy from Gil.
Kyle: Well, martyrdom.
bladesedge: 15 is a save.
Kyle: Wisdom save.
Vesz_rak: Oh, Nat 20 on the wizzy.
bladesedge: Nat 20 is a save.
gil: Yo, that's three max rolls in a row.
Vesz_rak: I'm not rolling like crazy.
gil: Hey, ah you need to roll a DA to D 10 D 12.
Vesz_rak: it's because i
Kyle: but
gil: If you roll max on all of them, then I think we love that.
Vesz_rak: I think, I think it's because I'm wearing my team USA hockey Jersey in honor of the Olympics going on.
Trevor: That's crazy.
Kyle: Shit, hold on.
Vesz_rak: So rolling hots, supporting the boys and girls.
bladesedge: Nice.
Kyle: What? Why is my saving throws not rolling?
Trevor: 10 save for Valerius.
bladesedge: OK, Valeria, if that is a failure.
Trevor: Kyle, if you right click on it instead of clicking it and then hit roll from there, that has been working for me.
Kyle: Oh. Oh, gotcha. Thank you.
Trevor: I don't know why just the click isn't working.
bladesedge: And.
Trevor: and
Kyle: 19.
bladesedge: Vesrak was to say, Vesrak and Roy, can your familiars and beasts, I imagine so, but can they be frightened as that is what is happening here?
Vesz_rak: I believe so, yeah.
bladesedge: It doesn't say they can't then they can't be.
Kyle: Um, yeah, it doesn't say they can't.
bladesedge: OK, so I need a role for is Istra and Lancelot.
Vesz_rak: Oh, we need a big roll from her, here we go.
bladesedge: As ah as Valerius, you are frightened.
Vesz_rak: Seven from Istra.
Trevor: Okay.
bladesedge: Istra is frightened.
Kyle: Wait, so would they, it says my wisdom is plus two. Am I going to add that to this?
bladesedge: I what is it say on the sheet that I sent you?
bladesedge: of the beast of the land up a bar wisdom plus two. Yeah. So if they don't have a savings or you just add that plus two to it.
Kyle: Yeah.
bladesedge: So you still have that stat block pulled up, right?
Kyle: ah Yeah, that's what I was looking at.
bladesedge: Cool. Also official Lancelot also frightened.
Kyle: It's going to be a nine.
bladesedge: For those of you listening at home, frightened means that a frightened creature has disadvantage on ability checks and attack roles. While the source of its fear is within its line of sight. So the source of your fear is this dead body on the ground. Uh, and the creature whoever's frightened cannot move willingly closer to the source of its fear.
gil: Aha.
bladesedge: as you're all hearing these whispers seemingly coming off this dead druid's body as as these tattoos are lighting up.
Kyle: Chances are right next to me.
gil: Osiris.
bladesedge: Vesrak, you killed the druid. Is there any bonus actions or movement or before Isher goes?
Vesz_rak: ah No, that'll be that'll be it. I'm not going to move anywhere. I'm just going to stay safely in the back. so ah Frightened, so Istra's going to move ah backwards.
bladesedge: OK. So it sure doesn't have to move away. They just can't move willingly closer.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, I'm going to move Istra ah by Gilman to help with, I don't know, just give him some pour next to this ah this Blight standing next to him.
bladesedge: Cool. um As a spider easily climbs over this wine rack in the middle of the room, um separating the room in half. But as he does this vine blight, this needle bite here is going to take an attack on Isra.
Vesz_rak: That's messed up.
bladesedge: as Ishmael leaves its range. um That's a 14 to hit.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, 14, I'm doing AC12.
bladesedge: That's seven piercing damage as Ishmael begins to move away and this thing's ah arm extends like Groot and slams it on the ground.
Vesz_rak: Oh, man.
Kyle: Jesus.
Vesz_rak: I think i can and think I messed up.
gil: I am.
Vesz_rak: So yeah, Estrig gets poofed out of, ah well,
Kyle: No.
gil: Well, bye again, Istra.
bladesedge: Cool.
Vesz_rak: I'm still learning the mechanics if I'm familiar. See you, history. I'll get you back later, buddy.
gil: Istra gets close to me and dies repeatedly.
bladesedge: Um, this needle blight who did that will then, uh, it's going to probably just immediately seeing, uh, this dog ah run up and attack. Uh, one of its creators, ostensibly is going to attack Lancelot with a 16 to hit.
Kyle: Okay.
Kyle: ah That is going to hit.
bladesedge: Okay. So Lancelot of claw comes down and Lancelot takes six points of damage.
Kyle: Oh, man.
gil: Ouch. Oh, I didn't mean to push that button.
Kyle: He's at. That ah it eight dan ah eight eight HP, I believe.
Vesz_rak: These guys are pissed.
Trevor: Thank
bladesedge: Yeah. Is it eight?
Trevor: you.
bladesedge: Um, he's going to stay. I actually think he's going to, he's going to hit and run tactics right now. He's going to hit and he's going to move and he's going to go five, 10, 15, giving both Lance a lot and Valerius, uh, opportunity attacks, but your opportunity attacks are at disadvantage because you are frightened.
Trevor: I think I actually, at least for Valerius, I don't think I have one. I think I used my reaction this round like pretty early for that Veil of Shadow thing.
Vesz_rak: you
bladesedge: Oh, okay. Cool.
Kyle: So, uh, for, uh, Lancelot, it's going to be a 20 and a 21.
Trevor: Unfortunately.
bladesedge: Oh yeah, baby, that hits.
gil: Wow, we love Lancelot.
Trevor: Yeah, damn.
Kyle: Yeah.
bladesedge: Roll some Dimash.
Trevor: Lancelot's a beast.
Kyle: 20 equals four for damage.
Trevor: Oh, Jesus Christ.
bladesedge: ah How does Lancelot kill this completely untouched needle blights, never been touched the whole battle in one swipe as it attempts to go out as Lancelot kill this guy.
gil: thought thought
Kyle: but
Vesz_rak: Thank God for land squad.
Kyle: um yeah so as um after he gets attacked by the claws he delans a lot is terrified and he gets hit with this claw attack he just slowly turns around and begins to growl and then as the uh as the guy runs away he chomps at his at his buttocks and starts ripping him apart stick by stick
gil: Ha ha ha ha.
Kyle: ripping the bark off of him um as he slowly falls into a pile of sticks.
bladesedge: Dogs love a big stick.
gil: Absolutely.
Kyle: Yep.
bladesedge: What can we say?
Kyle: Yeah, and then he picks up ah ah his favorite stick out of the pile and carries it with him.
Trevor: Oh Hell yeah, that's a lot of damage
bladesedge: Uh, which they sell a lot of damage, which is great news because it is Lancelot and your turn. There are two needle blights left. One behind the druid closer Lancelot and one on the other side of this bookcase here, Roy, that you can see or a wine cellar rack.
Kyle: So um stick can I make the, do I reroll the save to see if I'm still frightened or am I just frightened?
bladesedge: Um, no, you are just frightened.
bladesedge: Uh, until the start of the creatures next turn, the creature being the Druid.
Kyle: Okay. um
bladesedge: So, so let's start the next round.
Kyle: Okay. So I think Lancelot, you know, he did make that attack on that guy, but he still is terrified. So he's gonna come over back towards me and just, um, kind of stand between my legs. And then I'm going to attack this. How do I ping on this?
bladesedge: Hold down your thing.
Kyle: I guess. Yeah, I'm gonna tack this guy right here closest to me. And I'm gonna hop over this this bookshelf thing. Wait, is this like a tall bookshelf or like a waist?
bladesedge: It's a it's a wine rack, yet it's it's pretty tall. You can see over it, but it is like yeah walking from one side to there, you have to walk around it. But if you want it, you can see this guy's head. He wants to swipe over it at this guy's head.
Kyle: Yeah, I'm just gonna make two swipes across this wine rack.
bladesedge: Cool.
Kyle: um
gil: heaven
Kyle: My short swords. It's going to be a nine and
bladesedge: Nine misses, unfortunately.
Kyle: a 13.
bladesedge: 13 does hit.
gil: Yeah, buddy.
Kyle: Or a five damage.
bladesedge: Nice. First damage that guy's taken.
Kyle: And yeah, I didn't have like advantage on him or anything like that, right?
bladesedge: No, that guy's not but the other guy is still blinded.
Kyle: Gotcha. Okay. That'll be my turn.
bladesedge: Okay. Roy swipes over. You actually cleave the top of this guy's head off. And you get the sense like if it was a normal person and they had a brain, they'd be dead. But now this guy's head just like stops right above his eyes on this like a flat stump.
Trevor: Oh.
Vesz_rak: Gross.
Kyle: Love it.
bladesedge: Gilmond, flat stump head man right in front of you. It is your turn.
gil: Yeah, I take my daggers out, not my psychic daggers, but my real ones and I'm just going to go one swipe across the belly.
bladesedge: OK.
gil: ah For an 11.
bladesedge: Eleven is just going to miss.
gil: OK, and then my left swipe.
Vesz_rak: Ooh.
gil: for a NAT 20.
Kyle: Ooh.
Trevor: oh
bladesedge: Oh, yeah, baby. So roll me to D four.
gil: if
Kyle: There's a lot going on here.
bladesedge: Yeah, that's a lot.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Just roll it. You got really to D four.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Yeah.
bladesedge: Oh baby five that he took from Roy, brought him from 11 to six.
gil: Mm -hmm.
bladesedge: You just did seven points of damage.
Trevor: Let's go.
bladesedge: You swipe at this guy's belly. You said, and I think as it opens up or intestines would come out on other people, uh, just a lot of like vines and like leaves spill out of this guy's stomach.
gil: Hell yeah.
Vesz_rak: So much of dead leaves.
bladesedge: Yeah, exactly.
gil: And then, hey, looking between, um what what was this in between us, between ah Roy and I?
bladesedge: That's a wine. That's a, that's a wine rack, an empty one.
gil: Wine rack. ah Do I catch Roy's eyes in between the wine rack?
bladesedge: Yeah. you You guys can see over it, which is why Roy was able to attack over it.
gil: Roy, what would your demeanor towards Gilby right now?
Kyle: um I think right now there's like this like we're we're on good terms because we're on the same team but every time Roy looks at you there's this sense of disappointment but also somewhat understanding um of the things that you had to do. um But I think upon first glance, you see this disappointed a kind of sad look in his eyes.
gil: Okay. And then i I look back ahead and I'm going to use my movement to do one, two, three, four, five, six to be next to Valyrias towards this hallway, looking at the last of the vine creatures.
bladesedge: Okay. And it is his turn. So he is going to run over the druids dead body, right forward, being blinded, kind of bump into you Gilman and just instinctively reach out with his arm and make a claw attack in front of them at disadvantage.
gil: Yeah, please do.
bladesedge: But not 20 becomes a 16, which is still a 19 to hit.
gil: Still hits.
bladesedge: Okay. So as he swipes out at you, you take five points of slashing damage.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: across the face and he'll roll to see if he's still blinded at the end of his turn.
gil: And I will also be using my reaction.
bladesedge: And he is.
Trevor: noise.
gil: As I get hit by this thing, my eyes glow red and my horns appear to heat up and fire off a burst of flame from in between them, kind of Sauron style, as I use Hellish Rebuke for the first time.
Trevor: e
Kyle: Aww.
bladesedge: Nice.
Kyle: oh
bladesedge: um
gil: For 11 fire damage on a 9 deck save.
Trevor: aye
bladesedge: Okay. Dex, he's got a plus one. See here. Plus one. So he makes the save.
Kyle: ah
bladesedge: So he'll take half damage. Is that right?
gil: Yeah, and does do these guys have vulnerability to fire like the other guys did?
bladesedge: So you, as this guy takes the fire, these guys do not.
gil: Ah, okay, yeah.
bladesedge: Yeah. The twitty twigs do, but the needle blights do not.
gil: So I will extinguish that use.
bladesedge: Nice. He is, he takes takes the damage first damage he's taken. He's still blinded. That's the end of his turn. Meaning of hilarious. You are no longer frightened. Lancelot is no longer frightened and hilarious. It is your turn.
Trevor: oh Nice. um she I think Valerius is just gonna smack him with a quarterstaff or attempted to. You said he's still blinded?
bladesedge: Cool. Still blinded. You have advantage.
Trevor: buts go andage o thirteen oh ah yeah Let's go.
bladesedge: A 13 hits. Yeah. The other AC is 12.
gil: Since he's disadvantaged, would he have, ah or since he's blinded, would he have had disadvantage on that? Cause it's a ability check?
bladesedge: No, no, it's that's not a saving throw ability checks are not saving throws.
gil: No? Oh, okay.
gil: Oh, okay.
Trevor: um
Trevor: smooth six oh let's go just squash directly on the ground
bladesedge: A smooth six. So as we've established needle blights, 11 health Gilman. five damage from hellish rebuke. This thing catches on fire.
Vesz_rak: Matt Kings.
bladesedge: You swing around the corner, hit this guy for six damage. And how does he die?
bladesedge: Squashed directly onto the ground and you see his head like right before it right before it dies, like sort of like meld with the ground like some like roots go into it and his body goes limp. And we are out of combat.
gil: Let's go. Good job, guys.
Trevor: Damn.
gil: And I would start heading down the hall looking for these final barrels.
bladesedge: Nice. Go to make an insight check. yoman I think you, you notice what Roy said about how Roy feels.
gil: Yeah, will do.
gil: 14. Yeah, absolutely.
bladesedge: You notice as well, though, that Lancelot. As long as Roy has Lancelot out, the land beast of his ranger companion abilities, you will not get sneak attack if Lancelot is within five feet of an enemy any target.
gil: Sure.
Kyle: Hmm.
gil: I can get with that.
bladesedge: As you, you see, however Roy feels about it, understanding, uh, Lancelot, uh, like won't look at you.
gil: Sure.
gil: I deserve that.
Kyle: Ooh.
bladesedge: Um, you also notice right here in the middle of the room, a secret little door on the wall here.
gil: Oh, I love secret doors.
bladesedge: Goosh, goosh.
gil: I opened the secret door.
bladesedge: Okay.
Kyle: How many hit points do you have?
Trevor: Hehehe.
gil: Enough.
bladesedge: Yeah. Is it less than a hundred? Okay.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Okay. Yeah.
gil: Oh shit.
bladesedge: Uh, and your audit.
gil: A million D a million.
Kyle: Yeah, a million D a million.
bladesedge: Okay. Make me, uh, make me get me an athletics check.
gil: Yeah, absolutely. Atletico. 12.
bladesedge: So with a 12, this door, uh, you're having a hard time pushing it open.
gil: Okay. um i um My first instinct would be to use my Thieves tools to try to make it a little bit easier.
bladesedge: Cause it's just like, it's a secret door. So it's like the wall. You see the seams and you go to push it. It's a little hard to push open. You're having trouble.
bladesedge: Well, it's locked.
gil: um
bladesedge: It's fully not locked. There is, there is something behind it, presumably.
gil: pressing up against the side.
bladesedge: Yeah. That is just like making it hard to push.
gil: um I'll step aside and just gesture. Anyone want to give this a try?
Vesz_rak: I'm a weak little boy. I cannot.
Kyle: I'll give it a go if Valerius isn't going to give it a go.
Trevor: No, no, send it. I'll put my, uh, my hand on your shoulder and be like, think of anybody can get this open and be you and give you a little guidance so you can add a D four.
Kyle: Oh, thank you.
Kyle: Beautiful.
gil: And you know, I could also, I could also help with my side bolstered neck potentially.
Kyle: This is at athletics.
Vesz_rak: So have we heard of the name? Oh, Sybus before it rings a bell, I think, but I can't place it.
gil: It was in the letter.
Trevor: We have.
Vesz_rak: It was in the letter.
Trevor: Yeah.
bladesedge: The letter it was penned by by Strahd himself, I believe.
Vesz_rak: Was it referring to Strahd or is pen by Strahd talking about somebody else?
Kyle: but my not just will try
bladesedge: um I believe he looking at what he said here, the letter said.
gil: I am not Joro Cybus.
bladesedge: ah You yes Save yourself from wretched curse by darkness of that. I have no doubt cursed by your wretchedness I think not immortality your arrogance offends me. I am NOT your former lord. I am NOT oh Sybus I much prefer you as you are your dread lord and master Strahd von Sarovitch
Kyle: Wait,
Vesz_rak: Oh, OK.
Kyle: why not?
Vesz_rak: Form former Lord.
gil: Yeah. Mm -hmm.
Vesz_rak: So presumably the former Lord of Barovia, maybe.
gil: Could be. ah
Vesz_rak: Going in the notes.
Kyle: I was getting deity vibes.
Vesz_rak: Maybe.
gil: Yeah, I can feel that.
Trevor: Hey, Brian, did my, but did I, did anything happen to my pinky ring when the druid went down and oh that like word came out or that name came out?
bladesedge: Hm?
bladesedge: Um, I think you, as, as Royce pushing the door open, you sort of instinctively taken me and your hand, your left hand is rooting around within this, uh, druid on the ground, like looting him basically.
Trevor: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: Um, and it, it comes up empty, your hand instinctively, just that you didn't mean to, you know, even do this just comes out of this, uh, robes completely empty.
Trevor: Okay.
Kyle: um Was Gilman giving me the help action?
gil: Yeah, so um i I have this side bolstered knack ability. So if I can get in there and help you out, um then I'll try to get a little extra oomph through that.
Kyle: Cool, so is that just a roll with advantage?
bladesedge: Uh, so you already rolled one, as a six. You have a guidance from Valerius. Is that right? Valerius.
Trevor: yes
bladesedge: Okay. So Gilman, ah Gilman did already roll. So, uh, I don't think Gilman could help you because that is, that is the typically if you help action is either you both roll or you give somebody advantage and not both.
gil: Mm hmm.
Kyle: Okay.
Kyle: I see.
bladesedge: Unfortunately.
Kyle: All right. So, um, what was the guidance?
Trevor: Yes.
Kyle: What guy do I rule?
Trevor: D4.
bladesedge: A D four, even with that guidance, you push on this door and you're not able to open it.
Kyle: Yes.
Trevor: I take back the guidance.
Kyle: Damn.
Trevor: um
gil: this isn't
Trevor: Okay.
Kyle: Well.
bladesedge: Yeah, I would say at that, at this point, that door is, is stuck. Uh, you, you probably have one last opportunity from either Fez rack or Valerius, but, uh, sometimes the dice tell the story.
Kyle: is there ah Is there a lock? Can we try lockpicking?
bladesedge: No, it's just a wall. So it was a secret door.
Kyle: Oh, she's a whoa.
bladesedge: I'm just going to push it. You're trying to push the wall in.
gil: Yeah.
Kyle: Gotcha.
Vesz_rak: Could I try to firebolt the door to see if it weakens it? I mean, I don't know. I'm not very strong, so.
bladesedge: Sure. Yeah, you fire bolt the door and you. You see as the fire hits the door, you weirdly make an arcana check for me.
Vesz_rak: Arcana, here we go.
bladesedge: Arcana.
Trevor: Talk to me.
Vesz_rak: Ooh, hey, not good.
gil: Show me potato salad.
Vesz_rak: Eight Arcana.
bladesedge: Okay. Eight Arcana. You see it hit the door and like it hits the door, but it's also kind of like sucked past the door.
Vesz_rak: Oh, is it is it like a fake door?
bladesedge: No, I mean they they were pressing on it.
Vesz_rak: OK, I was like, oh, it's like OK.
bladesedge: It's real. so Yeah.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, I'm OK.
bladesedge: It's like sucked through the seams.
Vesz_rak: Weird. Yeah, I don't know. I I'm I'm out.
gil: wild.
bladesedge: Okay.
gil: Well, I guess there's another door there too. And then it looks like this might be over here, one of those rollies so that we can roll the thing up or roll the thing down.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, does this ramp go up, Brian, or down?
bladesedge: Yeah, it's the same ramp that isn't throughout the whole house that goes up.
Vesz_rak: OK, cool.
bladesedge: So in this room, wooden pillars and beams support a 10 -foot high ceiling of this ice cold cellar, which is split in two by a five -foot brick wall, which is where the door was. A thin mist covers the floor. Each half of the cellar features an eight -foot tall wooden partition that doubles as a wine rack, so eight -foot tall. So you guys actually maybe couldn't have seen over it, but that's OK. I'm going to say it was five -foot tall. The Western rack was empty, but the Eastern one is filled with wine bottles. Um, as you come over here, you see, um, that's the, the seller, it gets colder, uh, markedly colder.
bladesedge: The closer that you guys get to the North wall, I'd say the seller was probably the cold, the coldest when you were by that secret door. Um, uh, against the wall in the Eastern portion of the seller, there are three frosty barrels.
gil: Interesting.
gil: Nice.
bladesedge: ah You get in the sense. These are the barrels that the Marta cobs were talking about.
gil: Aha.
bladesedge: It's set on them. There's a label that says purple grape mash number three.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: um And then there is. ah The wine rack in this eastern half of the cellar holds 40 bottles, ah the labels of which all say red dragon crush.
gil: Hmm. Red dragon and crush.
Vesz_rak: Could I take like three bottles of wine and put them in my like satchel?
bladesedge: where
bladesedge: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, uh, I believe, uh, the Marta cobs had said, um,
gil: I would just pop open and have a bottle right now, start sipping on it.
Kyle: The bottles that we don't know if they're poisoned or not.
gil: I would.
Trevor: Oh, that's a good. point with it
Vesz_rak: Yeah. we And re -roll characters.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: Yeah, we all die in this wine.
Vesz_rak: and ah
gil: and goodbye
Kyle: See you guys next season.
Vesz_rak: And welcome to the first episode of Into the Abyss.
Trevor: cell Holy shit. That's so funny.
bladesedge: Yeah. So he had said that there were three bought there, that there were three barrels in the loading dock, three barrels and several wine bottles in the cellar. So is what he asked to bring back. So it definitely seems like he said several.
gil: And
bladesedge: And it seems that there's a bit more than several. So if you were if you were to.
gil: goodbye.
Kyle: and think we all just take a couple like in our backpacks
bladesedge: Sure, a pocket some or drink some as you as you drink it, Gilman, it's it is not poisoned.
Trevor: Yeah, one thing like considered to
Kyle: next
gil: Great, I hand it over to Roy.
bladesedge: And what was that trip? Sorry.
Trevor: Oh, no, no, no, I'm. I'm thinking maybe it could be smart for us to hang on to as much of these as we can to if, you know, getting into this town, if they wanted wine, it feels like anywhere we go here, maybe if some sort of wine or liquor like would help us in getting in places if we have some extra to kind of bargain with that probably wouldn't hurt.
Kyle: I think we all just take a couple like in our backpacks.
Vesz_rak: Is there a maximum amount of wine that we could take like to the point of encumbrance or like what's like what's too too much?
bladesedge: I mean, there's, so there's, presumably there's a wagon upstairs. So if you guys were going to roll these barrels up, put them in the wagon with the other three and then attempt to get that wagon back to Kresk.
Trevor: Mm hmm.
bladesedge: You could put the bottles in the wagon, whatever you were going to keep for yourselves.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: If each of you took like a couple bottles of the, what did I say? There was 40. As you guys said, it was 40 wine rack, ah but about 40 bottles.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: i each to you each you could Each of you took a couple. You're not going to be encumbered by couples wine.
gil: Sure.
Vesz_rak: OK, I'll take a total of five, then. I'll take a total of five wine bottles.
gil: Oh, five bottles at a boy.
Kyle: I'll take two.
bladesedge: All right.
Vesz_rak: And then I'll
Trevor: Could I grab?
gil: um Guys, we also.
bladesedge: So fivenicks thirty five You said to Roy.
Kyle: Yep.
bladesedge: That makes 33 that makes 30 28.
Trevor: I'll take three.
gil: I'm gonna take two more.
bladesedge: And then you opened one.
gil: and And then I opened one, yeah.
bladesedge: So why seven?
gil: um And then, hey guys, we still might have all of those little beasties outside of here too. Can't forget about them.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, we need to find a way to distract them so we can load the barrels up.
Trevor: What was, real quick question, what was the label on these bottles of wine again? What did it say?
bladesedge: Red Dragon Crush.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: Red dragon and crush.
gil: And then I have a little bit of an idea.
Trevor: Fire.
gil: Uh, I don't know if it's going to work out, but in my head it sounds diabolical.
Kyle: Okay Okay
gil: So basically my thought is I have a flask of oil. I've got ball bearings. I've got a hooded lantern and I've got some rope. I want to put the ball bearings in my oil flask.
Kyle: Oh
gil: inside of the hooded lantern, light the lantern and huck it right in the middle of the guise and create an IED.
Kyle: Oh my god.
gil: Is that a thing?
Kyle: We just we just dukes of hazard out of here.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: I'm into that.
Kyle: Old sprint on the wagon.
Vesz_rak: Are you trying to use that as like an initial?
Trevor: What if?
Vesz_rak: just like
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: yeah What if?
gil: Just like just start an explosion. And then we just, um, try to set as many of them on fire as possible. Cause those guys are vulnerable to fire. So maybe it would create some way to scare them or set a bunch of them on fire or create like a chain reaction of them being on fire. Who knows?
bladesedge: There was, there was both.
bladesedge: You saw both kinds coming out of the woods.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: It wasn't just twig lights. If anything, you saw more of the needle blights.
gil: Oh, okay. Well, maybe we can take out some of them um and then deal with the other ones and do a little.
bladesedge: Yeah, but there were both.
gil: Yeah. Dukes of hazard.
Vesz_rak: What if we like lined, like if there was some way we could take some of the poison barrels and like line them around the exit and that, and then light it on fire to give us some time to load them up and like work. Cause I have a feeling that like, as soon as we step outside, they'll notice our presence and start attacking us. So the fire could be used as like a deterrent slash like distraction.
Trevor: Okay. Also, what if to try and be extra, we could like sneak along with this whole plan is to try, you know, we can take the clothes, any clothing off of this druid, if they had a mask on and like the druids upstairs and the bandits and stuff, we could try and dress up as them and just make it look like another delivery is coming out or we're taking the wagons to go steal some more wine.
Kyle: yeah
Trevor: You know what I mean? Just look like we're actually a part of this place. to maybe not get attacked. And then...
bladesedge: So I do think, I do think you, you could, any deception check to be the druids would be at disadvantage because they're all halflings.
gil: but
Kyle: Yeah.
Trevor: Oh,
Kyle: Mm.
bladesedge: So you guys, yeah, you guys are all like Elv of Elvish descent of some kind.
Vesz_rak: And, and famously we're three, we're three elves in a tiefling.
Trevor: shit.
Kyle: Good.
Trevor: That's hilarious.
gil: Yeah, pointy ear.
Vesz_rak: ah
Trevor: Oh, fuck.
bladesedge: So you guys are like.
gil: All our pointy ears are poking out from ah above our disguises.
Trevor: Yeah.
bladesedge: Yeah, you guys are like tall, but these yeah these halfling ah druids, you could fit into them.
Trevor: Yeah.
bladesedge: Absolutely. And you could still try, but it will.
gil: So explosion route.
Trevor: Crazy late growth spurt. I don't know what to tell you.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: It's insane.
Kyle: Yeah.
Vesz_rak: Can I go upstairs to the second level, Brian?
bladesedge: Yeah. So by the way, so you, the stairs lead up to the second level. So does this that takes the barrels and then also right behind Lancelot down here on the wall, there's a door. That's rack goes up to the second level.
gil: Oh yeah, we should open that door.
Vesz_rak: And I'd like to go to the druid that we had killed upstairs and I'm looking to see if he and has any poison on him.
bladesedge: ah You did not kill the druid upstairs.
Vesz_rak: Oh, shoot. I thought we did.
bladesedge: You put him, you put him to sleep and tied him up.
Vesz_rak: Oh, can I like search him for a case?
Kyle: Oh, yeah.
Vesz_rak: Oh, is he gone? I go upstairs. I look for him. Is he here?
bladesedge: OK. You go upstairs, and you look for them. And in the time it takes for you to get there, what are the rest of you doing? As you you see, Vesrec, leave the room.
Kyle: Um, I wanted to take like, I was just going to say, I wanted to take one last stab at this door.
Trevor: Is anybody there? Oh yeah, i go for it, go.
Kyle: If I could, the trap door or the hidden door.
bladesedge: Oh, yeah. Yeah, we can. yeah ah Yeah, you can make one last check. The DC's gone up because you guys have failed twice instead of you just can't kind of can't just keep keep trying these things.
Kyle: Sure.
Kyle: Course.
bladesedge: um
Kyle: Yeah, I'm just gonna press my hind legs against my hind legs as if I have any other pairs of legs. um My legs up against the wall and just try to push.
bladesedge: Cool.
Kyle: I'll be like horizontal pushing my legs against the back wall.
bladesedge: Yeah. What's your what's your bonus to your the athletics check?
Kyle: It is plus three.
bladesedge: Cool. I'm going to say, hilarious. You're going to give them guidance for this.
Trevor: Yeah, or a help, honestly. I don't know if guidance is better or if the help action is technically, but you know what I mean?
bladesedge: Yeah.
Trevor: Like might help even more, like giving him just straight up advantage might actually be better.
bladesedge: Yeah.
bladesedge: I can tell you guys want to do this.
Trevor: um
bladesedge: So I'm going to say Gilman, Valerius Lancelot all help with the door. So Roy, you have advantage and you have a D four.
Trevor: Heck yeah, let's go.
bladesedge: So go ahead and, and the DC that you're going to roll the D four first.
Kyle: Okay Two
gil: yeah buddy
gil: to
bladesedge: Okay. Two. So it was a DC 15 originally. You guys have failed twice. It's a DC 17.
Kyle: Yeah right, if we don't get this then it truly was not meant to be
bladesedge: So you have a plus three already plus two. So you're going to add a plus five to your role, which means you need to roll 12 or higher and do you have advantage.
gil: Yeah, buddy.
Trevor: it's not in the stars let's go
Kyle: Okay, that's a six.
bladesedge: Okay.
gil: Come on, baby.
bladesedge: You 12 or higher.
Kyle: Come on. Yeah, 18.
gil: Oh, let's go.
bladesedge: Okay.
gil: What's in the door?
bladesedge: You push this door open and inside you see, you now you see, and so it takes some effort to push open this secret door and you are greeted by a blast of cold air.
Trevor: what's in the
gil: Ice methods.
bladesedge: You see that a dark tunnel stretches for 15 feet, ending at an archway.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: Beyond which lies a shallow cave.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: And um are you have darkvision, right?
Kyle: shallow k I do have darkvision.
bladesedge: Darkvision, just so that you are aware, um and the listener. Darkvision in ah D and &D.
gil: You mean to tell me there's a dungeon in this game?
bladesedge: Um, do you mean to tell me there's a dragon in this dungeon? So ah with dark vision, you can see in the dark within a specific radius.
gil: Oh shit.
bladesedge: You can see in dim light within the radius is for bright light and darkness as if it were dim light. So it's dark. So it looks like dim light in here. However, in with dark vision, this is an important note that people often forget with dark vision. You cannot discern color only shades of gray.
Kyle: Okay.
bladesedge: Um, so you look in here and it's completely dark and, uh, you, you sort of, to you, it looks like dim light shades of gray, uh, hallway goes 15 feet to an archway beyond, which is like a cave.
gil: Oh, well.
bladesedge: A shallow, shallow cave.
Kyle: Do I see any and he shapes, any figures? First thing, do I hear anything in this cave?
bladesedge: Uh, make a perception check.
gil: And I'm like peering around the corner. What's in there? What's in there, man?
Kyle: 16.
bladesedge: Um, you do not hear anything. Uh, you don't even hear wind. You don't hear wind or anything. You do see that there's this, uh, from where you're standing, it looks like a shallow cave. The only thing you see is this hallway. There's this mold on the corners and in the back of the cave, this sort of on your, on our map, you can see the mold that little like thing you're seeing is mold.
Trevor: Should we go check it out?
gil: Yeah, I think we should.
Kyle: Yeah, let's check it out. Looks like just a ah dank dank cave to me.
gil: Vestrac is the only one um that I haven't communicated telepathically to. um So I can't let him know.
Vesz_rak: All right.
Kyle: I'm going to take the neckline of my robe and just bring it over my mouth. I'm not directly breathing in the air that's in here.
bladesedge: Okay. Okay.
Kyle: um Lancelot is going to follow behind me here, but I will make my way into the cave.
bladesedge: All right. And as you get to this next square right here, we go back up to, you can go ahead and put, if you guys are going in behind him, you can put yourself some marching order as I go handle what's going on with this rack.
Trevor: Bye.
bladesedge: Vesrak, you're on the second floor. You come up. This druid is tied up with pieces of ah somebody's rope. I forget whose rope it was, but tied up.
Kyle: Oh, that's my room.
bladesedge: ah Roy's rope also through his mouth. He looks at you eyes wide and just goes. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
Vesz_rak: I'm going to kind of lean, lean.
bladesedge: Mm hmm.
Vesz_rak: I'm going to lean down and kind of pull my knife out.
bladesedge: Mm hmm.
Vesz_rak: And I'm just going to say, if you scream, I will kill you. That is not a threat. It's a promise. Do you understand?
bladesedge: He looks at you, uh, defiantly and nods and make a, uh, intimidation check.
Vesz_rak: Let's see. Intimidation 12.
bladesedge: Cool.
Vesz_rak: Do I get the sense that he understands?
bladesedge: Uh, he nods.
Vesz_rak: And to kind of further the threat, I'll say, I have a plethora of spells in my arsenal that will make life hell for you if you decide to scream. Do not tempt me. And I'd like to go to take off his his gag.
bladesedge: Okay. As you take off his gag, I am going to make the check for him here, which will be just a straight up D 20 rule.
Kyle: Is this to see if he's intimidated?
bladesedge: Yep. Uh, sometimes in D and D the intimidation is less about if you're meeting somebody who's working for somebody else, it's less like, are you scary and more like, are you scarier than the person they work for? um But as you take it off, you take it out of his mouth, he does not say anything. He looks at you and he says ah in the first time you've heard any of them speak common. You hear him say, you fucked up now.
Vesz_rak: First, I have a few questions for you. Who is Osiris?
bladesedge: ah He smiles at you saying that and. He says.
bladesedge: He says, uh, I think, I think what he would say to you is he, he'd be tilts his head and just very, very vaguely says a dark power.
Vesz_rak: OK, dark power. Seems like you guys are all serving him pretty ah wholeheartedly here. Second question, where is the rest?
bladesedge: i'm an If I'm answering any more questions, you're going to let me out of here. I leave quietly.
Vesz_rak: I'll consider it.
bladesedge: ah He's going to make an insights check to see if you're going to do it or not. So you can make a deception check if you were lying.
Vesz_rak: ah Yeah, I'll roll deception.
bladesedge: Cool.
Vesz_rak: 19.
bladesedge: Well, he rolled a 13.
Kyle: Nice.
bladesedge: So he says, OK.
Vesz_rak: Second question.
bladesedge: Mm hmm.
Vesz_rak: where's the Where's the rest of the poison you guys were using to poison the barrels?
bladesedge: He he like shrugs and goes, that's not what that wasn't my job. and but Whoever had the pull, whoever had it was doing it.
Vesz_rak: Who had the poison?
bladesedge: The guy downstairs.
Vesz_rak: Okay. why were you poor
bladesedge: ah Who you you guys killed.
Vesz_rak: Nice, okay, I'm gonna go back and collect that after this conversation.
bladesedge: Yeah. Yeah.
Vesz_rak: ah Why were you poisoning the barrels for, were you poisoning all the barrels or were you just poisoning the barrels to a specific group like the Velaki, the Vistani, or the Strahd? What's the deal?
bladesedge: All of the vats downstairs are poisoned. None of the barrels are poisoned yet. The vats that we're currently working on that are fermenting, those are the ones we poisoned that were to just be sent out to everybody.
Vesz_rak: Hmm. Why?
bladesedge: Mass death.
Vesz_rak: Why?
bladesedge: He smiles and just says, uh, well, it's time to see who can divide death and who can't.
Vesz_rak: Hmm. So you're King, God, whatever. Osiris loves mass death. Is that what you're telling me?
bladesedge: Not my king, not my god.
Vesz_rak: then who is he to you?
bladesedge: um It's that moment we're going to go back down and Roy. ah You step forwards and I need you to make a constitution saving throw.
Kyle: gizzard.
Kyle: Of course.
Trevor: That's a trap!
Kyle: That's a natural one.
Trevor: oh
bladesedge: OK.
Kyle: That's a natural one.
bladesedge: I'm about to say so I'm about to say something very scary to you.
Trevor: oh
bladesedge: What is your, what's your maximum hit points?
Kyle: 31.
gil: you
bladesedge: Okay.
bladesedge: Okay. So that's good. So I can't, I, and how many of you have right now?
Trevor: ah Okay, so that's good.
Kyle: yeah
Trevor: It's so funny.
Kyle: 30.
bladesedge: 30. Okay, cool. You might not even go down and I can't perma -kill you, but you are about to take for a level for a level three character.
Kyle: Oh, cool. That's great.
bladesedge: You're about to take an astronomical amount of damage. Um, as you step. in, you feel as you reach this point, you feel all of the warmth of your body gets sucked out of you. ah And ah you take 24 points of cold damage.
gil: Oh. My god.
Trevor: Good heavens.
Kyle: What the fuck?
bladesedge: as you reach here. And what was already the coldest room in this place so far has become a bone chilling to you as you are the first to step. And as you step in, he leaves your body shivers, run up your spine, ah ah goose pimples all over your body. What do you do?
Kyle: Um, first of all, how many hit points do you guys both have?
gil: Uh, I'm seeing what just happened to you.
Trevor: i
gil: I'm i'm getting the fuck out of there.
Trevor: As am I, I have a max of 24 hit points and a current 19. So I think I'm going to go ahead and scoot my way.
bladesedge: Hey, you guys can, why don't Gilman and various, you can also both make perception checks to, to see, to see if you can maybe glean a tiny bit more of what just happened.
gil: 11.
Trevor: 24.
gil: Um, and I'm going to do a D six with my psychic knack.
bladesedge: Okay.
Kyle: Thank you.
bladesedge: okay
gil: So that's a 16 for the rule of five.
bladesedge: Cool. So you, you both see, you both see one thing happen and then Valerius, there's a little extra that you, that you are going to get with ruling over a 20. So with the 16, you see this, this heat, leave Roy's body and sort of be sucked into the mold. The mold seems to be drawing heat. Uh, which is why when the Zrak fire bolted the door, it was sucked through the door.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: Valerius, as you got closer, you recognize this as brown mold. So brown mold is.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: ah Very dangerous. um It is immune to fire. ah You've heard people have gone to clear out brown mold and have had to destroy it from a distance and you can't destroy it with fire. um And if you do. um Like if you try to destroy it with fire, ah it the brown mold instantly expands outward in direction of the fire covering over the fire, making the brown mold bigger.
Trevor: Oh yeah.
gil: My God.
bladesedge: um
Kyle: Do I get the sense that this will continue to happen if I go deeper into the cave?
bladesedge: Yes. And what are you doing this moment?
bladesedge: I'd say you don't know that's a risk that you'd have to take.
gil: Disgusting. Ew.
Kyle: Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and get the fuck out of this cave.
bladesedge: I think that's smart. I think because if you, if you roll the dice and it's wrong and you're wrong and you go down inside, then one of them has to come get you inside.
Kyle: If you - Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: And if you were wrong, then they would take damage. And then if they go down, it could be a chain reaction of who's going to get you out.
Kyle: Yeah.
gil: Fatalities.
bladesedge: Yeah.
Kyle: Wow.
gil: Yeah, I have a maximum HP of 2021 FYI.
bladesedge: So I still couldn't have fully killed you, because it's 4d10. So if I rolled 40, if it's double your max HP or insta -dead, yeah.
gil: Just barely not, just barely not.
Kyle: like dog I just took 24 points of damage for it literally nothing.
gil: Yeah, well.
bladesedge: um you ah You guys, back out of there as you nurse your wounds, we the camera zooms back up to the second floor of Vesrak standing in front of this. Um, this drew it and you ask him, who is he to you? Who is Osiris to you? You said, um,
Vesz_rak: Yes. Who is Osiris to you?
bladesedge: he, um, I think he, he looks at you and just says, betrayer. Now let me out. You promised.
Vesz_rak: I did promise. Here's the deal. What's your name?
bladesedge: Let me out and I'll tell you.
Vesz_rak: No, no, no.
gil: I let you out from life.
Vesz_rak: Yeah. Give me your name.
bladesedge: Tom.
Vesz_rak: Tom. Okay. Tom. And I kind of give him a knowing look. Here's the deal. And I'd like to, um, kind of cut his cheek a little bit. Um, non -lethal. He obviously just like a little, so I get a little dab of blood and I'd like to put it in my spell book and do an open page.
bladesedge: Hmm. Hmm.
Vesz_rak: Listen here, Tom. I have your blood now and I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to go downstairs and I'm going to take some of that poison for myself. I don't know who you were trying to poison, but I like what you guys are doing. So I'm going to let you free. I was originally going to come up here, take your poison, kill you, but I think we could be friends, Tom. But if you double cross me, I'm going to use the blood I have in my book to find you and to kill you. So what do you say friends?
bladesedge: He says, as he's looking at the blood going down his cheek, he goes, that all depends on if you let me out of here.
Vesz_rak: I just said I would, Tom, and I cut the ropes constraining him to let him out, and I open the door, and I open the window so he can escape.
bladesedge: Okay. You do that. As you open the window, we go back downstairs, hilarious Roy Gilman in the cellar.
gil: Yeah, Roy, that, uh, that was a pretty fucking close call. Need to take a break.
gil: I'm going to check out this room. I don't know if you want to rest up.
Kyle: um Yeah, I think I am going to...
Kyle: I'm gonna come over here to this wall i'm in this room and I'm gonna sit down and I'm gonna lean against the wall.
bladesedge: Okay.
Kyle: And as I lean against the wall, um I'm gonna sort of put... I'm gonna have my knees up like... Wait, I don't i really know how to describe this. but Yeah, I'm just gonna lean against the wall. And as I lean against the wall, you see vines sort of wrap around my my ankles and like over top my shoulders. I'm gonna cast Cure Wounds on myself.
bladesedge: Love that.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Um.
gil: Wicked.
Kyle: ah Or 11 HP.
bladesedge: Nice.
gil: Fantastic. It's a great amount of healing.
Kyle: my bad brings me back up to 17 and just take a chill pill and then yeah Gilment feel free I'm gonna I'm gonna sit back
gil: Yeah. And I'll check out this door to the south.
bladesedge: Cool. You open that door and it looks like there are stairs that lead up Uh, to a room on the first floor that maybe you just didn't check out.
gil: Oh, okay. Yeah, I'll go check it out then.
bladesedge: Okay. Gilman, you walk up into this room. And you are in ah what looks like a glass blowers workshop, you see a dirty window in the south wall allows dim light to enter this room.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: Wine bottles are manufactured here, as ah evidenced by the tools lying about you, the wooden rack of freshly blown glass bottles on the south wall.
gil: okay
bladesedge: the hearth um built into the Southwest corner and the barrel of sand standing next to it. A staircase descends the one that you just came up from and between it and the rack of bottles shatters or stands a barred door.
gil: Interesting.
bladesedge: So there is a door here.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: And then there also looks to be a door that goes outside. You have a door to your north and you have a door to your east.
gil: Okay. um And is this just a window that leads out?
bladesedge: Yeah, you have a window that looks outside.
gil: Yeah. Am I able to see out kind of the way that we came in?
bladesedge: Yeah, I mean, it's one of the ways, yeah, I think you guys came in from the north, so you're looking the opposite way, but there's these things that came out of the tree line came out from all around you.
gil: Um,
gil: Yeah. And do I still see them?
bladesedge: ah Go ahead and make a perception check for me.
gil: Yeah.
gil: That's a nat 20 per sepi.
bladesedge: All right, and as I am about to tell you what that hat, what that is, Valerius, what are you doing?
Kyle: Huge.
Trevor: Valyrios is just chilling like between here looking up stairs seeing if I hear anything from Gil and then keeping an eye on Roy as well.
bladesedge: Okay.
Trevor: Kind of just sitting here.
bladesedge: Uh, chillin' with Roy while he heals, looking up the stairs, waiting for Gilmond, Vesrak. You open the window, cut this guy's ropes, and he climbs out the window and looks at you and smiles. And then you see, he does not jump out the window.
Vesz_rak: I'll give him a wave.
bladesedge: He climbs like to the ledge and then like uses it to get onto the other side of the roof and then find his way down.
Vesz_rak: I'll see you soon, Tom.
bladesedge: as he climbs up the window, what's your next move?
Vesz_rak: I would like to go back downstairs, um uncork my five bottles of wine and start filling up my wine bottles with the poisoned wine.
bladesedge: OK.
bladesedge: OK, so that's going to take a bit. So you go downstairs.
Trevor: Ahh.
bladesedge: you go you You go to do that. We'll say that's going to take a little bit to do. um Gilman with a nat 20 perception check.
gil: Yeah, baby.
bladesedge: you You absolutely do still see them.
gil: Talk to me.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: So you see, um, you see that there are, uh, let's go ahead and tell you what's going on here. So you see, bo boo, boo, boo.
bladesedge: um there They're mostly in groups of five. You see the needle blights that you fought downstairs. The guys you fought downstairs, you see those guys are mainly in groups of five um that are just sort of going around.
gil: Mm hmm. OK.
bladesedge: um They are going around the house because there are some druids with them.
gil: Oh, OK.
bladesedge: there are at least You count at least three druids outside. Um, you also see that there are some of those twig blights. You see like a handful of those and then maybe another handful of those, maybe another handful of those passing by outside. It seems like they're all just like doing stuff. Um, and then you see for the first time as well with the nat 20, you see your first sort of vine blights, which looks like the guys you fought downstairs and the really tiny guys, but they're made fully of vines. I'd say with a nat 20, you just see two of them.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: ah They look like they are the big dicks as if it goes vine blights are the toughest needle blights at the Medium twig blights are the easiest And there are you see about three druids as well outside ah With a nat 20 you see a druid hop down from the roof and begin hucking it south um Hiding from his own druid kin and needle blights
gil: Okay. Interesting. Okay.
bladesedge: And, uh, you see him sort of stealthfully get away and head south.
gil: Interesting.
gil: Huh, so I don't think I, ah I don't think I would necessarily second guess the fact that that was the one that was ah tied up out there. Cause I didn't really get that good of a look at him.
bladesedge: Hmm.
gil: I don't even think I got to fight him really. And then I went looking in the other room while they tied him up. So I'll be like, Hey, out of our, out of our site, ah not quite our problem. And then I'd look to these bottles over here. And I think about my, my improvised grenade thing. And I kind of just want to start trying to fill up some of those things with ball bearings and some oil.
bladesedge: So you want to start trying to fill up the bottles with ball bearings and oils.
gil: Yeah. These, these freshly made. Yeah. it Make essentially like fragmentary, uh, Molotov's.
Trevor: yeah fire
bladesedge: Cool. So ball, how many ball bearings could fit in a bottle of wine is a very fun, uh, experiment that we don't have the time to figure out, but I would say we would call it probably three D six per bottle.
gil: Sure.
bladesedge: is how many you could get in. So as you take time to do that, um let's see, did we talk about how many bottles there were there?
Trevor: Yeah, fire.
gil: It looks like there's two, four, six.
bladesedge: Well, let's see if it says here, rack of bottles. and index above blah bla blah blah The wooden rack of full of freshly blown glass bottles. So it doesn't say in here, so we can we can now go to the uh, map if we'd like, which is one of the, o one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11. So you got 11 bottles. Each one could hold three D six, uh, ball bearings.
gil: 11 bottles, 11 ball bearings in there.
bladesedge: Okay. So you can really individually for each one, or you could just put 11 in each one if you want.
gil: I'll just put 11 in each one.
bladesedge: Okay. Well, you only had a hundred, right?
gil: It's a thousand ball bearings.
bladesedge: You have a thousand ball bearings. Jesus.
gil: Yeah. So I think they're pretty small, but it says ball bearings bag of 1000 weighs two pounds.
bladesedge: Okay. So yeah, we'll say you could double that if you wanted 11 you put, you put 11 in and yeah, it's maybe just, if they're really small, it's just like the bottom of the bottle.
gil: Sure. I mean, yeah, it's like a couple.
bladesedge: Or maybe, maybe you triple it. If if if you want to fill it up, you can, you can triple it.
gil: Yeah. It's a couple of tablespoons each I would say. Right. um Yeah, let's just say each one gets like 40 ball bearings and then that's 440 ball bearings.
bladesedge: Sure.
gil: Yeah, sure, I'll mark that down.
bladesedge: Um, all right, uh, you're doing that. We go back downstairs, Roy and Valerius. It's been about maybe 10 minutes since, um, 10 minutes since Gilman went upstairs at this point, you hear ping, ping, ping down coming to the survey. You ping, ping, ping. Sounds like glass bottles being filled with something metallic. It's been about 15 minutes since hilarious or, uh, vesrac was down here. What are the two of you doing?
Kyle: Yeah, I'm just ah ah playing a little fetch with Lancelot after he grabbed that stick. So he'd bring me the stick, I would throw it over to the other the other end of the room. He would run over, pick up the stick as it floats through the air as as he's in the apparition. And then just repeat. But now I'm gonna stand up and say, I think it's about time we get moving.
Trevor: Yeah, I would nod say I'm ready when you are um while he was playing fetch I probably would have ah Thinking about the fact that my hand my left hand just decided to try and loot that druid
bladesedge: Mm hmm.
Trevor: I would go back over to it, I think, and loot it myself to see if I could find anything that my weird pinky hand couldn't find potentially. Um, and then also, regardless of what it found, if it had any sort of clothing or cloth on it, I would maybe want to rip off some pieces of cloth, like long strips of cloth that I would be able to like tie to things if possible.
bladesedge: Okay. Yeah, you absolutely find ah long strips of cloth. You can take his clothes if you want. um The only ah but so thing of maybe, you know, note on him, he had cast bark skin on himself. So his AC was because his skin had this bark like texture to it.
Trevor: Oh, okay.
bladesedge: um So the only thing really that he has on him is a quarter staff.
Trevor: Okay. Got it.
gil: Thank
Trevor: Sweet. Um, yeah, I'll probably just try and take those strips of cloth.
gil: you.
Trevor: Um, cause I'm thinking about, I'd probably ask Roy, seeing how good of a shot he is with that bow and how he was able to like.
Kyle: Yeah.
Trevor: shoot a dagger out of somebody's hand while they were using the dagger. That was insane.
gil: Shh.
Trevor: Saying, Roy, like what are the chances if Gil's making some of these insane, wild Molotov cocktail type things, they they could be kind of dangerous if we have to light them while we're close to them, throw them. What if we tie some of these cloth strips? If we can get them placed properly, if we tie some cloth to the end of an arrow, maybe, and you can shoot them from a distance, light them from a distance, and have them go off while we're at a safer distance, maybe?
Kyle: Hmmm.
Trevor: I don't know. It's something I'm thinking about. We got the cloth if we want to do it. um
Kyle: Yeah, I think we would just have to weigh out which, which risk is is more risky.
Trevor: Yeah.
Kyle: Like we either risk the danger of throwing a lit Molotov cocktail that is very dangerous to us in the present time, or we risk, you know, I'm not perfect.
Trevor: Yeah.
Trevor: getting close enough to place it.
Kyle: Yeah, and also me missing the shot. That's a very having to do that multiple times.
Trevor: Yeah, true.
Kyle: It'd be tough.
Trevor: um Brian, how many strips of cloth do you think I would have been able to, if I took the time and just sat down next to that thing, so I was like, that's a good point, we might need a lot of cloth. If I took the clothing and just spent like a couple minutes just ripping it, how many strips of cloth do you think I would have been able to,
bladesedge: Just a just a couple of minutes.
Trevor: Yeah, I made two to five minutes you know like while while he was playing fetch with the dog or something.
bladesedge: Cool.
Trevor: If we were down there for 15 minutes, however long it would take to get like a solid amount of cloth strips.
bladesedge: Well, yeah, you tell me, are you doing this for 15 minutes or are you doing it for a couple of minutes?
Trevor: Let's say i mean if we were if he was playing fetch for 15 minutes, I'll say I took 10 minutes of those 15.
bladesedge: Cool. ah Yeah, in 10 minutes, you get 50 strips of cloth.
Trevor: Oh, let's fucking go. OK.
bladesedge: Um, as we, uh, you get this, this cloth, you guys also know that you, this 27 balls and three barrels, you gotta move that up this ramp at some point to put it on the cart.
Trevor: Oh, yeah, fucking so true.
gil: Mm hmm.
bladesedge: Um, yeah, so we're going to go back up to Vess rack, Vess rack. You have been, and you emptied your bottles. You've been filling them up with this poisoned wine. I need you to roll me a luck check. I need you to roll me a d20.
Vesz_rak: Okay. Detroit coming right at you seven.
bladesedge: Okay. Let me just get a piece of paper in front of me real quick. All right. And it's at this point, you finish. you hear You've been hearing clinking, ding, ding, ding, from the door to your south, but you've been busy filling up your wine bottles. And you finally finish. What are you doing?
Vesz_rak: Um, I'll go investigate the clinking. I'm just going to go look for the boys. So I'll head to the door to myself.
bladesedge: Okay, so as you go to the door to your south, Gilman, you've been filling up these bottles. And are you filling up the bottles, you have a flask of oil, flasks are not huge as 11 bottles.
gil: Yes, I do.
gil: Yeah, so I was gonna investigate to see if there was anything that I could see to be combustible in this workshop, considering some things would be used to stop the flame, start the flame, quench blades, quench bottles.
bladesedge: ah There's definitely tinder and stuff of that nature to get the fire going where there's not too much that's combustible in the glassblowing workshop.
gil: Okay. um and maybe ah test some of the wine and see if that, uh, if that starts on fire, if it has high enough alcohol content, probably doesn't, but okay.
bladesedge: ah It does. Yeah, it does not. But you could if you use all of your a flask of oil, we'll just roll to see how many bottles you can fill up.
gil: Yeah, sure.
bladesedge: OK, so that's how you're going to use the whole thing.
gil: yeah ill Yeah. I'll use, I'll use the full flask.
bladesedge: Well, why don't you go ahead and roll me a you're going to roll me a D6 plus five. So you'll at least get six at the most.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: You'll get all 11.
gil: Okay.
gil: Oh, baby.
Trevor: Oh!
bladesedge: ah So all 11 are filled up because of, you know, ah displacement. The rest of the bottle filled with ball bearings doesn't need to be all the way to the brim enough that, you know, it'll start a Uh, a small little Molotov thing as the door, um, to your north opens, you see Vess rack and Gilman. I need to luck check.
gil: Yeah, absolutely.
bladesedge: D 20.
gil: ah That's a nat 1 on the luck check.
bladesedge: Cool.
Kyle: Brutal.
bladesedge: Uh, you door opens.
Vesz_rak: Oh, boy.
bladesedge: You see Vess rack.
gil: Yeah. Oh, what's up, Fez?
Vesz_rak: Hey, ah how are we going to get these barrels up here? We've got to start loading them up.
gil: Well, we probably just got to push them up together. Maybe we get some rope and pull them up if that's easier. Leverage.
Vesz_rak: ah and what What are you doing in here? but What's up with the workshop?
gil: ah making Making some explosives.
Vesz_rak: Okay. Uh, we're, we're, we're, uh, in a highly combustible area.
gil: Yeah.
Trevor: Okay.
Vesz_rak: Just be safe. I guess.
gil: Yeah.
Vesz_rak: Uh, there's a bunch of wine here, highly flammable.
gil: Actually, the wine isn't flammable.
Vesz_rak: Don't blow it.
gil: I just tested it out.
Vesz_rak: Uh, okay. Uh, just try your best not to blow us up. There's still a lot of wood.
gil: Yeah. Hey, do you want to take a couple of these? I just finished them up.
Vesz_rak: Uh, sure. Here, hand them over.
gil: Yeah. So I give you um three of the wine bottles full of ball bearings and ah oil.
Vesz_rak: I'm adding so many wine bottles to my inventory right now. um so You hear the clinking of like ah eight bottles of wine. hi ah goodlinklinklinklinnklinlink um And then I'll go ah back downstairs and then.
gil: Like a total winerun.
bladesedge: All right. Well, hold on. As you as he gives you those, we go back downstairs. Valerius, you have just taken the ah strips off of the druid on the ground.
Trevor: Heck yeah, should we ah should we start working on these wine barrels? Start rolling them up.
Kyle: Yeah, I'm gonna walk over to this first one and just give give this one on my right a push, see how rollable it is.
Trevor: Right here, get them over to the...
bladesedge: Cool. It's rollable.
Trevor: Oh.
bladesedge: It's loud.
Kyle: Fuck.
bladesedge: Rolling a barrel. You know.
Kyle: Um, I mean, ah ah let me try and lift it. Can I lift it up?
bladesedge: Yeah, make an athletics check for me.
Kyle: Nine.
bladesedge: No.
gil: Hehehehe.
bladesedge: If it was empty, yes, but it's full of liquid.
Kyle: Fuck. Yeah. Um... Valerius, these are very heavy barrels.
Trevor: let's Let's just roll them. We're in a basement. We can roll it just try and roll it fairly slow.
Kyle: Yeah.
Trevor: You know what I mean?
Kyle: Yeah, I'm gonna start slowly rolling it towards the ramp.
bladesedge: All right, you guys start to slowly roll those towards the ramp and Vess rack and Gilman. What are your guys? Passive perceptions?
gil: ah My passive is 15.
Vesz_rak: 14.
bladesedge: Uh, 15 and 14. Okay. And. Plus one.
bladesedge: Cool. Uh, you at this moment, as you're, you've just put the bottles in your thing, you hear coming from upstairs, uh, rounding the corner to a druid. And do you see this creature, uh, coming down from, from upstairs, right behind him, this creature made of vines.
gil: Oh shit.
Vesz_rak: Oh, man.
bladesedge: Um, and I need, uh, both of you to roll initiative. And the other two of you will be up at the top of this ramp with the, uh, barrels at the start of the second round.
Kyle: Bye.
bladesedge: Um, all right.
Vesz_rak: ah Is the Druid Tom?
bladesedge: It is not Tom. No different guy.
Vesz_rak: Thank God.
Trevor: Do you a bride, do you want us to roll initiative now just so we have it after the two rounds, you know what I mean? Once we get up or do you just want us to roll it then?
bladesedge: Yeah, sure. Yeah, that works. And let me get you on there. Then I do a little ed turned, do a little ed turn, goosh, goosh, go ahead and put it in.
Trevor: Let's go.
bladesedge: Roy, would you roll put it in for you manually?
Kyle: a 7.
bladesedge: Seven. Okay. All right. So. ah vilarious You are rolling a barrel up the thing. This vine blight. You see the druid says something in druidic. You get the sense. ah lay ah little And this creature goes.
bladesedge: It will go.
bladesedge: five and the vine sort of go in and around this wine to just move right over it.
Vesz_rak: Oh no.
bladesedge: I have 10. He would go will We'll go right there and he will his vines whip out at you, Vesrak.
Vesz_rak: Why, why is he coming at me like that, Brian? Come on, man. Hey, whoa.
Kyle: Thank
bladesedge: So 23 to hit.
Kyle: you.
Vesz_rak: Oh, brutal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
bladesedge: Okay, um you take.
bladesedge: Eight points of bludgeoning damage.
Vesz_rak: Oh, that could have been so much worse.
bladesedge: Could have been so much worse um as he constricts you. Your whole body is constricted in these vines. ah You are considered grappled.
Vesz_rak: Gil, help!
gil: Oh, fuck.
bladesedge: That is his turn. The druid will go. um Five, 10, 15. 20. 2530 squeezed by this wine thing right here, right next to the staircase. And this druid is going to, um,
bladesedge: this druid is going to take its staff and Kath Shillel on its staff. Uh, an attempt to whack you with it and you're restrained. So this is at advantage. Let's make sure that's true.
Vesz_rak: AC 16 with my mage armor still active.
gil: Hm hm.
bladesedge: Speed zero attack rolls against you have advantage. Your attacks have disadvantage. You have disadvantage with dexterity saving throws. OK, he goes to whack you. That's a 22 to hit.
Vesz_rak: yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: ah You take six points of bludgeoning damage.
Vesz_rak: I'm down.
bladesedge: Uh, Vesrak, you hear a loud, uh, Gilman, you're a loud crack as you look and see Vesrak surrounded by vines. And then a staff hit the side of his head and he starts to bleed as he falls still wrapped up in these vines.
gil: Oh, shit.
bladesedge: And it's your turn, Gilman.
gil: um All right, so seeing him fall, um I am going to...
gil: um Let's see.
gil: ah I'm gonna move towards the door to try to get sight of what's in there.
bladesedge: Mm hmm.
gil: Um, and then I'm going to take the bonus action. Uh, what is it? Um, cutting action to take the, um, disengage action.
bladesedge: OK.
gil: And I'm going to move one, two, three, four, five, um, pass this druid.
bladesedge: Well, you are, that's, you would hit the staircase. So see how the staircase ends right there. So you're, you're coming in this room and there's a staircase ah above you that is heading, uh, upstairs and eventually see how it like continues and hits the floor. So you can't just walk through that staircase.
gil: Oh, okay.
bladesedge: You're like, that it's like under a staircase L shaped.
gil: Oh, I see. And then how far is it?
bladesedge: Yeah. You can't go straight.
gil: How far is it jumping down towards those barrels?
bladesedge: No. So you're on the first floor. You're on the first floor. You're not on the second floor. These are stairs that are on the first floor going to the, they're going to the second floor though.
gil: oh okay Oh, they're just on the other side. I see, I see, I see, I see, I see.
bladesedge: So this where you're at on the map is above you, but this all the way on the other end, 15 feet from you, that is where it touches down on the first floor where you are, which is why you cannot walk through it.
gil: Okay. Um, then I want to, um, try to climb around these barrels over here past Vess rack, um, and fire one of my psychic daggers at the druid.
bladesedge: Okay.
bladesedge: Okay. Cool.
gil: Okay. First one comes out for an 18.
bladesedge: Oh yeah. 18 hits.
gil: Okay, whoops, that was my bonus action one, but, right.
bladesedge: However, you don't get sneak attack from downed companions.
gil: Okay, so that's just nine damage.
bladesedge: Nine psychic damage this druid.
gil: Okay, and then I say, ah you know, ah ah follow me and I run this way.
bladesedge: Okay.
gil: um And then, That is gonna have to be my turn, I think, because I can't move any further, right? Trying to look at all my my rogue my rogue movements.
bladesedge: Cool.
bladesedge: I think you've only moved 25 feet by 10, 15, 20, 25.
gil: Oh yeah.
bladesedge: So if you if you have a little bit more movement and you want to, you can.
gil: Oh yeah, I'll just move right here.
bladesedge: OK, see some double doors to the north of you.
gil: Mm -hmm.
bladesedge: A door over here to the east, you know, that that door leads to the wagon that has the three barrels on it.
gil: Right.
bladesedge: um On Roy's turn, Roy, you're ah who who is in front, Valerius or Roy?
Trevor: ah I think Roy he snagged the barrel that was in front of
Kyle: Uh, yeah, just cause I was, I was rolling that burl barrel.
bladesedge: Cool, cool, cool. So yeah, you're also rolling it in Valerius right behind you up the thing. Vesrak, I need a private death save roll just to me.
Vesz_rak: Private death save coming in.
bladesedge: Uh, or like I think we said we're we're going to try something here, boys. Uh, Trevor and, um, Kyle and Kyle, I'm going to try something here on our system. Not the, not, not a huge deal.
Kyle: Yeah.
bladesedge: Take your headphones off for. Five seconds while I tell the audience what he rolled.
gil: Yeah, okay.
Trevor: You want to give us like an AOK in the roll 20 when we're good to come back?
Kyle: okay
bladesedge: Absolutely.
Trevor: Hell yeah.
bladesedge: So I'm going to say it in three. Two. One. He rolled a 15.
bladesedge: All right.
Kyle: I'm back.
gil: I'm back.
bladesedge: Okay. Everybody's back. The audience knows what he rolled. Uh, Valerius, you arrive, you and Roy arrive at the top of the stairs. However, you act first. Um, and you see through these double doors, you see Gilman just through a dagger and is on the other side. And you see some blood, uh, coming from the South side of the room that you can't, can't quite see what's going on from where you're currently standing, but it is your turn.
Trevor: o shit Okay.
bladesedge: And do you have a barrel in front of you that's rolling.
Trevor: Uh, I pushed the barrel out of the way, but keep it on the top so it doesn't roll back down. So just get it wherever it can not roll back down. Even if it's just right here.
bladesedge: and Okay.
Trevor: Um, five, 10.
bladesedge: I'll get us some different little combat music here.
Trevor: 15 okay, so I'm in the room.
gil: I was just thinking the same thing.
Trevor: I'm going to ah Let me see this thing How far okay Nice nice nice, okay, I get here and I'm going to cast aid um Actually
Trevor: This is - this might be silly, but I'm going to... I'm gonna wait. I'm gonna hold my action.
bladesedge: Okay.
Trevor: I'm gonna go, uh... Let's see, that was 5, 10, 15.
Trevor: Uh... 20? I know, I just did some weird shit.
bladesedge: Okay.
Trevor: um
bladesedge: ah You walk in the room, you back out of the room.
Trevor: Yeah, I'm gonna wait and just keep an eye on Roy. Once he does something, starts an action or something, I'm going to walk back, like before he starts moving or anything, I'm gonna walk back into the room right there.
bladesedge: Yeah, unfortunately you can't hold movement.
Trevor: Oh, you can't hold movement?
bladesedge: You can only hold an action.
Trevor: Okay, that's fine. Okay, got it.
bladesedge: So if your action was to dash, uh, that would make sense.
Trevor: No, that's okay.
bladesedge: But if it's if you're holding a spell, you're like, uh, it uses the spell slot. The minute that you say you were holding it, you'll mark the spell slot off and then that will just trigger whenever you.
Trevor: Right, okay.
Trevor: Okay.
bladesedge: Yeah.
Trevor: Perfect. I will sit. What is this thing in front of me? Is this like a big thing?
bladesedge: Yeah. That's like an empty barrel of wine that you guys killed a twig blade in last time.
Trevor: Oh,
Trevor: okay. Cool. Can I like just, I'm just going to sit here then maybe and kind of like duck and just crouch behind this and get any cover that I can here and have eyes on Roy.
bladesedge: casket of wine, like they like they make wine in that.
Kyle: you
Trevor: And as soon as he starts moving or do any sort of
bladesedge: ah you're Are you pinging Gilman and saying Roy?
Trevor: Jesus Christ. Yes. Yes, I am. And Gilman is who I mean.
bladesedge: Okay. So do you mean Gilman? Okay.
Trevor: Gilman is who I mean. As soon as Gil starts moving or takes any sort of action or starts to take an action, I'm going to cast a spell.
bladesedge: OK, and so does aid require line of sight?
Trevor: Uh, your spell bolsters your allies. with huton centers off Choose up to three creatures within range. Each target's hit points, but yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: Cool. So not does not require a line of sight.
Trevor: So it's just, nope, just three targets within range.
bladesedge: OK.
Trevor: Yeah.
bladesedge: All right, cool. You duck down behind this empty cask holding an aid spell. It is this vine blight's turn who will just Uh, let go of as Rax body and go five, 10 right here. And then it's going to, um, but but
Trevor: bra could you blow that thing up again it looks so cool yeah i like that art yeah fine yep
bladesedge: yeah, it's pretty cool. Pretty cool stuff.
gil: Yeah, it looks rad.
bladesedge: I think I sent the picture of the three of them at one point.
Kyle: Yeah.
bladesedge: Maybe last time here, I can show you now again, show you guys this is he's the he's sort of the.
gil: Vine Mummy.
bladesedge: a Middle guy, I guess I can't show you, I don't know why I can't show you this guy's.
Trevor: oh it's okay it's still up in that discord that thing's fucking
bladesedge: Cool. Um, all right. He is going to do something here and we're going to see if this is smart of me here.
Trevor: Bye.
bladesedge: Uh, any creature in that area.
gil: Oh yeah.
bladesedge: Okay. Okay. Cool. Um, where, from where the vine blight is. He sticks his fists into the ground and 15 feet from him in every direction. Uh, going over Gilman's going this way, going this way. Um, sprouting from the ground are these like plants that attempt to entangle you. So I will need Gil.
gil: Yikes.
bladesedge: I will need a strength saving throw.
gil: Oh goodness.
gil: Flat 10. Um, and then can I use my psionic Knack on that?
bladesedge: What the, okay.
gil: Or is that just for now?
bladesedge: No, that's a abilities.
gil: Damn. Okay.
bladesedge: So your speed, you are restrained.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: Your speed becomes zero. You can't benefit from any bonus to your speed attack roles against you have advantage. Your attack roles have disadvantage. You have disadvantage on dexterity saving throws. That is the, uh, vine blights turn, however.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: The Druid is going to follow you this way and go five, 10, 15, 20, 25.
Trevor: She wouldn't have been in those entangled things, would she?
bladesedge: Uh, it's creatures that it can, it it can choose who.
Trevor: Oh, OK.
bladesedge: Yeah. Um, cool. So it's going to, a druid is going to do something here. And you see Valerius, even from sitting behind this thing, Gilman, you you see this entire wine casket in front of this druid be utterly fucking destroyed as this druid casts thunder wave at you, Gilman.
Trevor: Ooh.
Vesz_rak: Sick, sick.
gil: Oh, shit.
Kyle: Oh my god.
bladesedge: Uh, and, uh, Gilman, I need you to make a constitution saving throw.
gil: Okay, coming at you.
bladesedge: Luckily, this is just straight. No disadvantage from the restrained.
gil: It's just a five.
bladesedge: Okay. Five is a failure.
Kyle: I'm not feeling good.
bladesedge: So you take, uh, nine points of thunder damage.
gil: Okay.
bladesedge: As you're covered in this poisoned wine, there's no mechanical effect from that.
gil: And am I...
bladesedge: ah Thrown 10 feet back, but there's nowhere for you to really go. You sort of just hit this wall behind you and you're restrained any who can't move you because your speed is zero. um ah Thunder waves you for nine points of thunder damage that will be. Mark off the sped that spell for this.
gil: Do I get slammed through the door?
bladesedge: Um, I, if you were, I guess, yeah, there's no token right in the middle. Let's, let's roll for it.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: I say on a, uh, you want one to 10 or you want 11 to 20.
gil: I want 11 to 20 because that's not what I roll lately.
Kyle: Heh.
bladesedge: Okay. You want to roll it then? Or you want me to roll it?
gil: No, yeah, I want to roll it. I'm going to roll it.
bladesedge: Okay. Okay.
gil: 11 or 20.
bladesedge: So on 11 to 20, you get thrown through.
gil: Yeah.
bladesedge: Okay. You don't get thrown through the door.
gil: I got an eight.
bladesedge: just bounced up against it and the wall.
gil: good Is it blood or wine coming out of my mouth?
bladesedge: um And it is a little bit of both and Gilman, it is your turn.
gil: Um, yeah, I am looking over at, um, Vess rack and I'm looking past, um, or looking a little closer at this Druid that just absolutely got me fucking covered. And with my Shadow's dagger reach, I'm going to make an attack with that instead.
bladesedge: OK.
gil: um So with my Shadow Strike, I'm reaching out with just one of my normal daggers for a 19.
bladesedge: OK, your shadow whips up, takes one of your daggers and your shadow comes to life stabbing this druid as your shadow sha stabs this druid for. ah um I'll let you roll that damage. Valyrias's aid spell goes off. Vesrak, you are up at five HP.
Vesz_rak: Let's go.
bladesedge: And your hip point maximum is increased by five Gilman.
gil: Let's go Wow.
Kyle: yeah
bladesedge: You get five HP and your hip point maximum increases by five Roy, you get five HP and your hip point maximum increases by five and Valerius.
Kyle: Let's go.
Trevor: Hell yeah.
bladesedge: Uh, so just keep track by the way, guys, that your hip point maximum increases by five, but once this is it over, uh, it goes back.
Trevor: oh
bladesedge: So just make sure that you don't leave it on your character sheet for whatever.
Vesz_rak: If you insist.
gil: Yeah. And then with my bonus action, I'm going to use one of my soul knives to try to split this thing's throat.
Vesz_rak: Okay.
bladesedge: OK, so it takes seven damage. OK, they're not hilarious. It takes seven damage from the shadow knife. ah Sixteen is pizza pizza. You can see it cast barkskin before it came downstairs. These things were on the second level in rooms. You guys did not check out.
gil: Nice. Um, and then nine psychic damage.
bladesedge: So the the bonus, the bonus one is a D four, though, but it does keep your plus.
gil: Oh yeah, I can i can roll a d4.
bladesedge: So we made D four plus and we'll add four to it.
gil: That's my bad. Bony section.
bladesedge: Okay, for another six points of damage, this druid is looking rough.
gil: Oh.
bladesedge: ah But he is still up.
gil: Yeah, awesome.
bladesedge: And Gilman, you are still restrained.
gil: Thank you, Valerius. That is my turn.
bladesedge: Roy, you're in the hallway. You've just heard a massive thunderclap, which you get the sense potentially, which potentially this is going to be interesting. The people outside heard this thunderclap as well from this druid casting it.
Kyle: Yeah. Yeah.
bladesedge: So you guys are getting the sense that the clock is now ticking to, first of all, get out of this combat.
Kyle: yeah
bladesedge: And second of all, figure out a way to leave this place, as the things outside now know that they've heard something.
Kyle: yeah
bladesedge: you know But it is your turn.
Vesz_rak: We got to hurry up and get those barrels.
Kyle: Um.
bladesedge: Barrel barrel at your feet.
Kyle: All right, I'm going to enter this doorway here.
bladesedge: Lancelot's right here. Yes.
Kyle: That's five, 10, 15, 20. And then as I'm heading towards the the vine blight, I'm gonna look at him and focus on him and cast Hunter's Mark, um which is a bonus action. And then every time I attack him, I do an extra 1d6 damage to the target.
bladesedge: Love that.
Kyle: So as I focus in on him, my peripheral vision kind of becomes shadowy and the vine blight brightens up in the center. So I have like a vignette around my eyes as I lock in on this creature.
bladesedge: Oh, we we.
Kyle: Libby. um
bladesedge: I love that.
Kyle: a
bladesedge: I'm picturing you wearing a beret. Just did you mean vignette? No, no, no, no.
Kyle: Vignette.
bladesedge: Vignette. I love that. I do have unfortunate news for you, which is that the minute you enter this thing's entangling roots that are on the ground, I need you to make a strength save.
Kyle: Oh, I love that. I love that. I think that's awesome and cool. 11.
bladesedge: ah you step over You step past Gilman and the ah vines from the ground wrap around your legs and you are also restrained.
gil: Suboptimal.
bladesedge: still have your You still have your action.
Kyle: Love this.
Trevor: ah yeah fools
bladesedge: You can attack this thing or you can use your action to try to get out of this restrained condition.
Kyle: I'm going to attack it with my longbow.
bladesedge: The side, the long side.
Trevor: I like i liked the sniffle as soon as he got restrained.
bladesedge: Okay.
bladesedge: Yeah. It's like, but, but dude, I'm not feeling great.
Trevor: Dang it.
bladesedge: Are you sure?
Trevor: but yeah
Kyle: ah
Trevor: Haha.
Kyle: 13.
bladesedge: 13 hits. So you'll roll your damage and you add a D six.
Kyle: It's going to be 11 damage.
bladesedge: Oh, max.
gil: Mmm.
Vesz_rak: Ooh, big damn.
Kyle: Plus... another 3 damage.
bladesedge: Nice. ah You ah damage this thing and he is ah hurting this this big a tangle of vines, but he is still up.
Kyle: Gotcha. And then, um... Lancelot is gonna... come in. That's five, ten, fifteen, twenty... Twenty -five, and then just stand here, stand back here, and -and bark.
bladesedge: Cool.
Kyle: And drool at the thought of picking apart this dude's...
bladesedge: Those guys vines, all vines.
Kyle: woody skin.
Kyle: Guy's vines.
bladesedge: Um, yeah, he takes the dodge action. If you ever don't give him a thing, he's dodge action. So a attacks against Lancelot of disadvantage.
Kyle: Oh.
bladesedge: All right. That is Royster and Fez rack. You're prone, but you're up.
Vesz_rak: I'd like to use half my movement to stand up. And looking at the druid who knocked me down, I'm just gonna start sending magic missiles out at first level again.
bladesedge: Nice. Yeah, his back's to you. He just said all this thunder wave. He thought you were down for the count.
Vesz_rak: Yeah, I'm pissed. Here's the first one.
bladesedge: OK.
Vesz_rak: Ooh, two damage. I'm just gonna, a two damage.
bladesedge: okay OK.
bladesedge: Hits him in the back. He starts to turn around as the first one hits him.
Vesz_rak: Three damage on the second one.
bladesedge: And as the second one hits him, he turns around just in time to get one right through the forehead, and he drops dead.
Trevor: Oh, let's go.
Vesz_rak: And then I'm going to take one step back, backwards, kind of finger gun out. Ooh, I don't want to step in that green thing. I saw what happened with Roy. Can I see the bye bye from where I am?
bladesedge: yeah ah Yeah, also magic missile can curve around corners.
Vesz_rak: Oh yeah, do wanted stylies.
Trevor: Whoa.
Kyle: um
Vesz_rak: I'm going to, I'm curving the magic missile around it.
Kyle: Just like that one movie.
Trevor: It's like that one movie.
Kyle: Yeah. let's go
bladesedge: OK.
Kyle: ah
Vesz_rak: That's a deep cut magic missile coming at you.
Kyle: That's a good one.
bladesedge: Roll that damage, cool, hurting, but still up.
Vesz_rak: Another three damage.
Vesz_rak: And then I'm gonna use, let's say I used half my movement, so I have 15 more feet. So I'm gonna move right here, 15 feet towards the door, towards the where I know the wagon is and say, we gotta load up the barrels, we gotta get out of here. They heard the thunder wave, we gotta to go.
bladesedge: Cool. There are still 27 bottles downstairs.
Vesz_rak: Rats, that's my turn.
bladesedge: As well.
Trevor: ah
bladesedge: All right.
Trevor: RAAAAA
gil: We're going to get what we can.
bladesedge: Yeah, he did say he he he did say a few um if I remember correctly.
Kyle: I think one more barrel too.
bladesedge: I mean, he said. ah
bladesedge: That there are there is several wine bottles in the cellar. So several will do you don't get all 27, but. Um, all right. Bezrak moves there. Valerius.
Trevor: -
bladesedge: It is your turn.
Trevor: I don't know.
bladesedge: Hey, if you don't know, you start loading the.
Trevor: I don't know. I know. I kind of want to. I almost want to hold another act. Can I actually use my action to try? Like if I wanted to go, you can move through friendly space, right?
bladesedge: Yes.
Trevor: Can I go like five, 10 and try and help Gil out of this?
bladesedge: Hmm.
bladesedge: Um, yeah, you can use your action.
Trevor: Like, yeah, yeah.
bladesedge: Cool. Um, so to, to get out of this, it is an action to make a DC 12 strength check to free itself or another entangled creature.
Trevor: okay
bladesedge: So it is a strength check, but you never know.
gil: Where's my big strong boy?
Trevor: Okay Dude i'm I'm right behind you, but i'm I'm not that big and strong.
bladesedge: Oh,
Trevor: I'm really close, but I'm not quite that big and strong.
Kyle: Off.
Vesz_rak: Oh no.
Trevor: I'm so sorry
gil: But my psionic knack.
bladesedge: Um, if you can use it for other people can you, or is it just for you?
gil: No, I think it's just for me.
bladesedge: All right. So you go to lift them out and you cannot any movement or bonus actions, double doors to the north of you, the door you came out, double doors to the east.
gil: Be a lot cooler though.
Trevor: All right, um I'm going to, yeah, let's see, I want five 10. Do I have any fucking cool bonus actions?
Trevor: ah No, I'm just gonna scoot back and keep eyes on these barrels and make sure that they're not going anywhere. I want five 10 to get there. I'm gonna go 15 20. Uh, to get back to where I was while staying in range of, you know, I'll go 25 just to be safe right there.
bladesedge: Cool. Right in front of the double doors all the way to the east. All right.
Trevor: Yes, sir.
bladesedge: And is that your turn? Yeah. yeah um Is that your turn?
Trevor: Yeah. Yeah. That'll that's my turn.
bladesedge: OK, cool. The vine blight's going to go um and he's going to move ah five feet towards you, Roy. Whoops. ah This vine blight comes towards you and a ah a mass of vines come up to arms that are going to attempt to hit you, Roy, and constrict you.
Kyle: Okay.
bladesedge: Um, so this is an attack at advantage cause you are restrained.
Kyle: That does it.
bladesedge: That's going to be a 22 to hit.
Vesz_rak: He's rolling hot.
bladesedge: All right. That's seven points of bludgeoning damage and you are also grappled.
Kyle: I
bladesedge: So you are restrained and you are grappled.
gil: Ugh.
Kyle: love that.
bladesedge: Uh, you're speaking zero, uh, ends of your incapacitated. Uh, it also ends of an effect or moves to grab a creature from the reach such as thunder wave, which is why it didn't work on the restrained creature, but it would work on somebody who's grappled. Um, so you are grappled. You're restrained. Uh, that is his one attack. The druid just got, uh, wanted, absolutely sniped.
Vesz_rak: Get sniped, idiot.
bladesedge: Gilman still restrained you cannot move you can action to free yourself or you can attack Okay,
gil: Sniped. Yep.
gil: I'm going to attack with my soul knives and I'm just going to try to um hit on either side of where Roy is currently ah grappled. First one coming in.
bladesedge: I believe you you have disadvantage because you are restrained I
gil: Oh, okay.
gil: Then that's a nat one.
Vesz_rak: Oh no.
bladesedge: Luckily you can't lose these knives as they are soul knives.
gil: Yeah, okay, bonus attack, ah bonus action with it coming out.
bladesedge: You can still get sneak attack, even on a bonus action attack.
gil: Mm -hmm.
bladesedge: 23 would hit at 20.
Kyle: GASP!
bladesedge: So 23 hits and you do get your sneak attack.
Trevor: Hell yeah, let's go.
gil: Wow, cool. So there's that and sneak attack.
bladesedge: Oh, so it's not.
gil: Whoa, sneak attack.
bladesedge: Yeah, so it's not 2d4 plus four. It's just 1d4.
gil: um Yeah, I wonder why it rolled like that.
bladesedge: Because I think you rolled from the Nat 20, which you had disadvantaged.
gil: Oh, I see.
bladesedge: It would be the 23.
gil: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kyle: Alright.
bladesedge: That's OK. So it's still seven and four, which is 11 points of damage. This thing had nine health left.
gil: e
Trevor: Let's go.
bladesedge: The psychic blades cut through this vine and he falls to the floor, much like ah what's that Pokemon, Tangala?
Vesz_rak: Yeah, Tangler. Nice cut.
bladesedge: yes
gil: And then I rip ah rip Roy out of it and just, a
bladesedge: and
gil: help make sure that he's on his feet.
bladesedge: Tangola falls to the ground. The vines on the ground come off both you guys. They are non -magical. This room is just kind of looks like it's like full of plants right now. We are out of combat. we The camera zooms out. We see the four of you in here, two barrels ready to be put on the loading dock, 27 bottles downstairs, the Mardukov family not far off, entry to Kresk waiting. But there's still 60 needle blights, 24 twig blights, three druids, and two vine blights outside of this place that now are all looking at it. Having heard that thunder clap and you guys must formulate a plan to escape. And we will see you guys next time on the blade's edge. Escape from wizard of wines.
gil: Oh my goodness.
bladesedge: Bye -bye.
gil: Bye bye.
