Kyle Beams: Come join us in the comments.
The Blade's Edge: come join us in the comments. um Jumping back in. The gang called the lightning.
The Blade's Edge: Just recently, finally, finally found and helped cure, at least somewhat cure, the mad mage, a.k.a.
Kyle: you
The Blade's Edge: Valentine. You guys are up in the mountains now. north of Lake Baratok.
The Blade's Edge: I'll ping for you guys over here where you are, sort of by this purple... ah Lake Zarevich, sorry. Yeah, for those of you listening at home, feel free to just fucking pull up a map of Barovia so you always know where I'm talking about.
The Blade's Edge: um You're in the Svalich woods up near Mount Baratok, north of Lake Zarevich. You have finally...
The Blade's Edge: found the mad mage valentine his cat sila his goat philip and his wife and his son um and you guys can correct my memory so it's we got anabi bash uh stalvedoc our newest member deson and deson what was your horse's name that's
Kyle Beams: His wife and his son.
Vesz'rak: Oh shit, I can't remember. I'm so
The Blade's Edge: okay Um, and then, it was something about Lathander or something about all of that. You've got this horse with this sunlight and all of that.
Vesz'rak: out of the
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Vesz'rak: i'm not sure if i actually named it, and if I did, someone feel free to call me a liar.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Well, we'll, we'll listen back to last step and and find it. But, um, did you guys, after uncovering his, his memory, did you guys long rest up here? Hmm.
Kyle: According to my stats, we did
Kyle Beams: ah
Vesz'rak: Yeah, we did.
Kyle Beams: Yes, we did.
The Blade's Edge: I love it. So the morning comes and while you don't get the beautiful sun cresting that morning light, you do get a darkness turned a bit light gray.
The Blade's Edge: There's some light rain in the morning. Maybe um some of that's blocked out by the tree canopies overhead. You guys have found you know a small clearing in between some trees, but there's still some overhang.
The Blade's Edge: You had a fire going last night. You didn't really hear any wolf howls, as you know from your trek here, that the wolves and associated creatures, werewolves, etc., ah Don't come to this side of the Svalch Woods.
The Blade's Edge: um But as you wake up, you see that um you see that Valentine is up.
Kyle Beams: ah Aww. Stavadok is sad.
The Blade's Edge: Philip has a little harness on with like a leash. ah Sila ah is sitting on top of Philip's head. And Valentine seems to have made...
The Blade's Edge: ah You guys don't know where he got the ingredients to make this, but he has made for each of you um ah avocado toast.
Kyle: Yo!
Kyle Beams: Oh, incredible. Incredible.
Vesz'rak: I didn't know they they grew avocados in this part of the nature.
Kyle Beams: with ah With some nice flaky sea salt from Lake Zarevich.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, make me.
Kyle: is this dude from Silver Lake?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Yeah. um
Kyle: Oh cool.
The Blade's Edge: Why don't you guys all make me a nature check? I'd say Stal the Dock, you... Is this your first time out in the world, though, right?
Kyle Beams: ah Yes. Well, yes.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, make that a disadvantage for Stal the Dock.
Kyle Beams: Yes.
Kyle Beams: That's going to nine.
Trevor: Do I need one?
Kyle Beams: Is this made of ghoul meat?
The Blade's Edge: one one So, Inabi, why don't you and... ah Is anybody here proficient in Arcana?
Trevor: Nope.
The Blade's Edge: No.
Vesz'rak: Negative.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: Negative.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Why doesn't everybody make me an Arcana check? We'll set the DC at 20. So we gotta get a high roll here. Okay. ah high roll here
Vesz'rak: ah Four.
Kyle Beams: Oh yeah.
The Blade's Edge: yeah
Trevor: Five.
The Blade's Edge: And I think Kyle G. Bash is is is restarting
Kyle Beams: He's like, wait a second.
Trevor: Hell yeah.
Kyle Beams: arcan He's really focusing about this one. He's thinking really hard about it.
Vesz'rak: He's pushing too hard in my poop.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: the Barbarian. You look over, that he just actually is pooping.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Not paying attention at all.
Vesz'rak: No, Arcana, Arcana.
Kyle Beams: Think.
Trevor: if they
The Blade's Edge: it Each bite of avocado, a piece of poop comes out.
Kyle Beams: Think. Think.
The Blade's Edge: It's just ah it's a very streamlined experience.
Kyle: It's a natural is so funny.
Kyle Beams: Yo.
The Blade's Edge: Oh my god.
Trevor: hell yeah
The Blade's Edge: Call the lightning.
Vesz'rak: some of Bash's best work happens on the toilet. What can i say?
Kyle Beams: and yeah
Kyle: No, my my Chrome, I had to change some settings in my in my browser.
The Blade's Edge: Oh, you turned it to Nat 20s only?
Trevor: Yeah, just put on your auto crit.
Kyle: Yeah, I had to turn on the Nat 20 button, so yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, i exactly.
Trevor: Yeah, yeah.
Kyle Beams: Oh, yeah, yeah. Auto quit on, yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Check his PC, check his PC.
Kyle Beams: I had to fix my Google Chrome.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I downloaded an an app that waits that weighs the die, so the dies are all weighted.
Kyle: yeah but it's a natural 20, Brian.
The Blade's Edge: So ah first off, Inabi with 21, you know, avocado toast, super weird. Definitely no avocados in Barovia.
Trevor: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: You're certain, 100% certain. There's no avocados in Barovia, for sure. Also, like freshly baked bread. Like, it's soft. This is not like hard, stale bread that he had in a pack or something.
The Blade's Edge: All very strange. Definitely not from this area.
Trevor: Hmm.
The Blade's Edge: And then Bash, I think you're starting to realize, ever since you've seen this guy, or been in this area of the woods, this guy Valentine, he...
Kyle: Mm-hmm.
The Blade's Edge: You're starting to put some things together in your head. He's been here a long time, but he looks really young. He has told you his name, but he didn't give you a full name.
The Blade's Edge: He gave you one name. You've cleared his mind, and I think with a natural 20, you know that he can't fully control what's going on with his magic, with his connection to the weave yet.
Kyle: Mm-hmm.
Trevor: We've.
The Blade's Edge: And his mind is still fractured. I mean, he definitely knows he's Valentine. He definitely is the Mad Mage. He's definitely on your guy's side. He's with you. But um he had mentioned that his belongings had been lost and his mind fractured with them.
The Blade's Edge: And with this, you see that sort of these were definitely made magically. And that maybe he didn't even necessarily pick avocado toast. And it's something so random because he cannot control what he's doing fully.
Kyle Beams: He's like, I was thinking Arby's.
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle: Interesting.
The Blade's Edge: But it is good. I mean, if anybody's and if anybody's eating it, you guys are all...
Trevor: Thank you.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: He's eating it too. So is Sila and Phillip.
Kyle: Have we heard of avocados before? Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Yes. Oh, well, maybe Bash. Maybe you haven't because you're from here. They're from Barovia. So maybe, um yeah, maybe we have within the Nat 20 Arcana. Maybe somebody's mentioned like import exports.
The Blade's Edge: Maybe some of the Vistani who can travel through the mists have come back with these rare, you know, delicacies.
Kyle: Sure.
Kyle: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, maybe you've heard about it before, but.
Kyle: I love this green sludge.
The Blade's Edge: He nods and he goes, ah yeah, it's honestly pretty good. I've never had it before, but this is smacking.
Kyle Beams: It's banging.
Trevor: The last note that I have in my and from last session is just Philip the goat and goat is all caps.
Kyle: That's so fire.
The Blade's Edge: yeah
The Blade's Edge: Yes, you've got Philip the goat.
Trevor: The best.
Kyle: It's the goat.
Vesz'rak: Sila the cat
The Blade's Edge: Sila the black cat with green eyes. Philip the white furred goat. um chewing He's chewing on some ah some hay in between bites of avocado toast that has been placed in front of him as well. Sila's nibbling on some avocado toast on the back of Philip's head.
The Blade's Edge: ah He's eating it and going, wow, yeah, this is good. i assume and ah We got to have this more often. What do you guys think?
Kyle Beams: I don't know if we can afford it. I want to buy a house someday.
Kyle: Is there any any way you can make some more of this?
The Blade's Edge: um
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I think so.
Kyle: Maybe we take some for the road?
The Blade's Edge: He looks at Philip and he goes, Philip, how did I make this? And you see the goat is just looking at him, chewing grass. Oh, okay.
The Blade's Edge: um Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Just like that then, huh?
The Blade's Edge: Right. Yeah. Yeah, Philip has reminded me. um Yeah. I can make some more. Not right this second, but I can... oh Oh, yeah. To bring it on the way? Yeah, let me let me ah let me let me try and make some more. Roll me a d10. Kyle G. Let me know your roll.
Kyle: two
The Blade's Edge: Okay,
Kyle: fourteen
The Blade's Edge: fourteen okay he goes, I got this, here you go. um I can make three at a time, here you go. And... Boobity!
Kyle Beams: Fresno pasta.
The Blade's Edge: Boobity! ah And you see three ah motes of bright light appear. Vroom, vroom, vroom. And these lights are sort of bobbing around. ah They almost look like they're maybe dancing.
The Blade's Edge: And they're three globules of light.
Kyle Beams: Hey, those don'tt those don't look edible.
The Blade's Edge: Oh, are we? Are you sure?
Kyle Beams: I'll try it. oh no
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you put your head through it, and it is just a ball of light. goes, huh.
Kyle Beams: I don't need food, but...
The Blade's Edge: Right. Well, I'm... Okay, that wasn't it, but I'm i'm sure next time I could i could i can um hone in on it. I mean, it's roughly the same form factor. and Right, if I just make it from light to mushy green, and yeah I should be able to do it. Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Right.
Kyle Beams: We need to get you your book back, don't we?
The Blade's Edge: Right.
Trevor: We need to get him to to town.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, the book's in Luna Lake. And if we bring him to town, isn't he super hated because of leading a bunch of people to death?
Kyle Beams: Potentially.
Vesz'rak: i mean, one of us ah hypothetically, allegedly, was the Mad Mage in town and got into a bunch of trouble.
Kyle Beams: True. But then they also don't necessarily know what the Mad Mage looks like then.
The Blade's Edge: Was that me?
Vesz'rak: Allegedly. Allegedly.
Kyle Beams: It was a very long time ago.
The Blade's Edge: Right.
Trevor: That's true, that wasn't very looked up.
The Blade's Edge: Right. to Right. Two, three years.
Trevor: Something like that.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, two or three years, buddy.
Vesz'rak: For sure.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: Uh.
Kyle Beams: It's been more like seven or eight decades since us and Mad Mage was well before that.
The Blade's Edge: Jesus.
Kyle Beams: So we're talking maybe a couple hundred years, right?
The Blade's Edge: why do they Why do they hate me?
Kyle Beams: I think you lost against Shrod and a lot of people thought we would do or you do a little better and a lot of people died.
Vesz'rak: ah
The Blade's Edge: lot people died, but not me, huh?
Trevor: They hate you because they ain't you.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, and you definitely didn't win against Trude.
Kyle Beams: True. Yeah,
The Blade's Edge: Right.
Vesz'rak: you got i think you got thrown off of a cliff, truth be told.
Kyle: I think it was very specifically described as you being thrown off of a cliff.
The Blade's Edge: Uh...
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: yeah Wait, so you're telling me I was thrown off of a cliff?
Vesz'rak: yeah yeah
Trevor: pretty sure somebody told me that you were thrown off of a cliff.
Kyle Beams: yeah I think you were thrown off of a cliff.
Kyle: They threw you like they launched you off a cliff with their hands.
Vesz'rak: it Yeah, like into a waterfall.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: There was like a lightning strike.
The Blade's Edge: Right.
Trevor: Honestly, it's insane you're still alive.
The Blade's Edge: At that moment, the rain sort of picks up and you hear in the distance oh
Vesz'rak: See like that.
The Blade's Edge: some thunder.
Vesz'rak: Did you see that? It was like that.
The Blade's Edge: He looks back. Yeah, I saw that. its
Kyle: Right when that kind of thing happened, they threw you off a cliff.
The Blade's Edge: the That's when I was thrown off a cliff.
Vesz'rak: you into the yeah You into the waterfall off the cliff. That's one-two punch.
Kyle Beams: Bye.
The Blade's Edge: Did you hear that, Philip the goat? They hate me because they ain't me.
Trevor: hell yeah it is true
The Blade's Edge: ah Okay. I remember ah bits and pieces of this. Of course, I remember coming to Barovia, but for me, it seems like it was not that long ago.
The Blade's Edge: i remember fighting him multiple times? Twice? i
Trevor: Let's make it a third time. Let's get you back on your meds.
Vesz'rak: yeah that's good Yeah, let's get your book.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Your book has your meds in it, right? There's like a secret there's like a like a secret cutout in the book, right?
Kyle Beams: Get you back on your med so we can go fight God Vampire.
The Blade's Edge: Right. i am'm I'm somewhat familiar with the area. I... um Yeah, he grabs a like ah stick on the ground, this sort of gnarled ah wooden staff.
The Blade's Edge: um I'll i'll up blow up his thing again just for you guys at home. i mean He's wearing like a purple cape, ah blue tunic underneath. ah For you guys, the art that I have here, there's a staff, there's a book. He does not have that.
The Blade's Edge: He just sort of has this... ah ah purple cape, a blue tunic, and this sort of non-magical piece of an gnarled wood that he helps himself up with. ah you know Light blue tunic, ah dark blue ah trousers, brown boots, purple coat.
Trevor: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: ah He's got medium-length shaggy brown hair sort of parted in the middle. ah No beard, angular face, looking very youthful.
Kyle: Mm-hmm.
The Blade's Edge: how old are How old are you guys? Remind me. ish
The Blade's Edge: Salva Doc, you're quite new.
Kyle Beams: I am quite quite new.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you're like, this is your...
Kyle Beams: This iteration of me, i mean, i've been i don't i don't know what version I am, but I'm definitely not the first, and but hopefully I am the last.
The Blade's Edge: Right.
The Blade's Edge: A couple years old. Dasan, you're pretty up there at this point, right?
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm like 86, 87 maybe.
The Blade's Edge: uh what about you bash i mean obviously you were you know frozen in time for a long time within the blood spear but sort of thirty s looks like from your token twenty s sure could be mid late 20s those half or people forget what's the other half you know is it human is it elf is it dwarf is it tiefling is it demon you know mean
Kyle: Yeah, I mean, a half orc, so whatever that equivalent of like mid late 20s would be. Mashes.
Kyle: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: You know, it's...
Kyle: Yeah, for sure.
The Blade's Edge: Mid to late 20s, awesome. And Anabi, probably right around the same for you, or are you a bit older? Cool.
Trevor: No, probably about the same.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you're looking at this guy, and I think like by the art, I mean, yeah, it looks like your guy's age. Mid to late 20s.
Kyle: Mm-hmm.
The Blade's Edge: um ah No...
Kyle Beams: I'm gonna live forever.
The Blade's Edge: I think also for what it's worth, D'Saun, you're pretty old, but you're an elf, you know?
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm pretty.
The Blade's Edge: um And you're looking at this guy, no pointy ears on this guy.
Vesz'rak: Okay. Not the same lifespan then.
The Blade's Edge: Right, but he's been here for, he was here when you first came here, when your name was Dasan, or your name was Vesrak, rather.
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: um Back then, the stories of him being here were around, and now it's 70-some-odd years later, um and without him being an elf, still looks like this.
Kyle: Hmm.
Kyle: Maybe it's the area.
Kyle Beams: Or just the and unfathomable magic within this guy.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, maybe it... Yeah. yeah I think he's What if he's like a reverse Benjamin Button?
Trevor: Is he wearing some sort of like weird jade necklace thing made out of brass that if I take off, he immediately turns into an old dude?
Kyle: It turns into a raisin.
The Blade's Edge: Haha.
Trevor: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. Game of Thrones.
Vesz'rak: Exactly.
Kyle Beams: Oh, shit.
Trevor: Ew.
Kyle Beams: Where he's just growing older over time.
Vesz'rak: Exactly.
Kyle Beams: Incredible. Fascinating.
Vesz'rak: but
Kyle: jason
Kyle Beams: What a revelation.
Kyle: Yeah, i've got I've got reverse Benjamin Button's disease.
Vesz'rak: yeah
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Kyle: It's the terminal, unfortunately.
Vesz'rak: he's ah he's just he He's just eating good.
Kyle Beams: Terminal, yeah.
Trevor: That is...
Vesz'rak: He's got the good grass.
Trevor: way more common than you think.
Kyle Beams: Hopefully after about 80 to 90 years, I succumb to my di disease.
Vesz'rak: He's got the foliage.
Vesz'rak: Okay, so...
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, i all well, I think you do know there is this there is definitely magic ah pulsating off this guy with a nat 20 bash.
The Blade's Edge: I mean, this guy is very magical. What that means, I don't think you're totally familiar with, and you don't have necessarily the ability to detect magic or something like that, but he is very magical.
Kyle: Yeah. Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. and And there's some magic in this area. I mean, when he just cast that spell, you felt you felt very powerful magic for such a simple spell.
The Blade's Edge: A spell maybe you guys recognize as a cantrip.
Vesz'rak: Hmm.
The Blade's Edge: When he did it, it felt as though somebody was performing um masterful you know spell.
The Blade's Edge: um
Kyle: yeah
The Blade's Edge: As he gets up on with his snor gnarled staff, ah finishes the last of his piece of toast, he goes, All right. So that shit's good.
The Blade's Edge: ah Where to?
Vesz'rak: ah Well, we need to get your book back for sure.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I remember you guys were talking about maybe heading back to Vallaki, maybe heading over to Luna Lake.
Vesz'rak: i'd like to make a side trip to... ah for and where were we buried originally? Was Barovia or Vallaki?
Kyle Beams: Barovia.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'd like to take a side trip if I could take my horse on a quick errand. to Barovia, but it is out of the way, like super out of the way.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, so just so you know, each one of these, I've put you on the map now, it's massive map.
Vesz'rak: so I could go, so i go bury Alma's ashes.
The Blade's Edge: um You can see where you are, you're up by the purple. And each one of these hexagons is a quarter mile. So, ah yes.
Vesz'rak: That's a lot of miles. It's a lot of damage.
Trevor: It's okay. I mean, we got to do it. but We got to do it.
The Blade's Edge: if you If you do it, if you so that would be a straight shot, right? But really, you'd have to follow the road.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, we're going to follow.
The Blade's Edge: Um, so you get the sense that heading to the village of Barovia, that would be, you'd get there by like nightfall.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, too long. Maybe I'll just keep the ashes. Maybe I'll find a more convenient time to do it.
The Blade's Edge: Up to you you. You guys, you guys can go, ah whenever, whenever you'd like.
Kyle Beams: He's mapping it out. He's mapping it out.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm i'm di mapping.
Kyle Beams: Let's see. We got 10 mile, 10 mile journey.
Vesz'rak: Mapping.
Kyle Beams: um
Vesz'rak: Hold on. Passes air pools.
Kyle Beams: the Yeah, past the...
Vesz'rak: Here we go.
Kyle Beams: Okay.
Vesz'rak: up Up, down, and around over the bridge. 65. Yeah, 65.
The Blade's Edge: So we're looking at
Kyle Beams: Into Barovia. 16 miles.
Vesz'rak: sixty five as
The Blade's Edge: 16.3 miles on foot.
Trevor: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: um
Kyle: That's lot of miles.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. I mean, yeah, it's morning. you could probably get there. it obviously Honestly, it depends on you guys have run into things in the woods. You've run into things on the road. You've gotten sidetracked, et cetera, et cetera.
The Blade's Edge: If nothing happened, ah you might get there before nightfall, 16 miles. you might If you guys really hauled ass and nothing really sidetracked you or stopped your way, you could get there probably by...
The Blade's Edge: you know, right before sundown, quote unquote, you five, six.
Vesz'rak: Or another option is we do that later and we just go south here follow the Luna River down to Luna Lake, and then we head up into the mountains.
Kyle Beams: I like that.
Kyle: Yeah, I mean, I think we have to figure out what our priorities are. Like, obviously, we'll want to be able to give Alma proper ah burial, but she is dead.
Kyle Beams: She is dead. so you know.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, she's got time.
Kyle: And we have to got to prioritize the living.
Vesz'rak: She's got time to kill.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, she's she's she's got time to wait.
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Rest in peace. or
Vesz'rak: I think... Yeah, my boat, I was just putting it out there just to remind myself. and But I think, yeah, I like the second option where we go through Vallaki, we drop off Valentine, head south, follow the Luna River down to Luna Lake, get the book, and then just keep going more south towards.
Vesz'rak: this what's down What's the mountains down here, Brian, ah to the south?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, that's the where the Amber Temple is.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, that'd be cool.
The Blade's Edge: That X right there is the Amber Temple.
Vesz'rak: And the Amber Temple was Alma's Taroka card reading.
Trevor: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: Who picked the Troika card didn't matter.
Vesz'rak: There's...
The Blade's Edge: It wasn't almost Troika card.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: It was your guys' Troika card.
Vesz'rak: i Yeah, I keep assigning it to people just so I remember, but um it's a Taroka card.
The Blade's Edge: Right. Yeah. You can. I just don't want to get your hopes up for like, ah, this is this person's story beat. This is this person's story beat And it's like, oh, no, these are...
Vesz'rak: Yeah. Alma's in the Amber Temple, guys. ah
Kyle: confirmed yeah we're dropping him off
Vesz'rak: But yeah, that's my... that's my
The Blade's Edge: Valentine says, oh you're you're dropping me off?
Vesz'rak: i
Kyle Beams: Do you want to come with?
Vesz'rak: um mean we can ah yeah I mean, we could drop them off in the blue water in, right?
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: I mean,
Vesz'rak: Or we just leave them here. I don't know.
Kyle Beams: would he would you rather come with us?
Trevor: Yeah,
Kyle Beams: Would you rather get dropped off? Or would you rather stay here?
Vesz'rak: With your family.
The Blade's Edge: we already we We talked about this. I'm coming with you.
Trevor: yeah that's about, yeah.
Kyle Beams: Great. Then he can come with.
The Blade's Edge: I'm coming.
Vesz'rak: Like the entire time?
The Blade's Edge: I, my job, my, my goal, as far as I can remember is to defeat Strahd. I wish to defeat Strahd. I have no other plans. You've freed me from that.
The Blade's Edge: I don't know how long I've been pretending to be a mountain man ah up here and, you know, lost my marbles, but I found at least some of my marbles now. And I, I, my job, my goal is to kill Strahd.
The Blade's Edge: If that is your goal, we are aligned and I am your ally.
Vesz'rak: well we're Well, we're accumulating a lot of allies in Vallaki, la the Mardukovs.
Kyle Beams: Let's do it.
Vesz'rak: So I think if we leave him with the Mardukovs, one, he'll be safe, and two, I feel like when we raise the banner, they would bring him along as well. That's just my thought.
Vesz'rak: What do you guys think about that?
Trevor: So wait, you're thinking about, they're in Vallaki, right?
Kyle Beams: Let's bring him.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, so...
Trevor: But we got to go get his book in Luna Lake.
Vesz'rak: which is down here and Vlocky's just on the way. So this is what I'm thinking.
Kyle: I don't think we should leave him unattended at any point.
Trevor: Yeah, I think he should just come with us.
Kyle Beams: He's coming in with us. He's part of Call the Lightning.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
Kyle Beams: The Mad Mage becoming a part of our group. That was always, always the objective.
Kyle: was always the plan.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I think that they're they are right about that, Tommy. That was, I mean, you guys have you guys have allies like the Mardukovs and the Omnus Inquisitors who, when you guys finally make your assault on Strahd's castle, ah they will come with you to you know combat the evil forces that maybe Strahd has acquired, armies, etc.
Vesz'rak: My bad. Yeah. Yeah. but i
Vesz'rak: Yeah, yeah,
Trevor: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: over there. But when you pulled that Taroka card reading, this is for your ally. This is for your guys' is like companion.
Vesz'rak: yeah. Okay. Maybe I just misinterpreted the card. um Yeah, totally. Totally on board with that.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, let's let's head to Luna Lake promptly, and then we can go to Argenvoss Holt. Right? that the one?
Vesz'rak: Or which one? Where's Argenvosswoldt?
Kyle Beams: It's Q on the map here.
Vesz'rak: Oh, we yeah, we can go Vosthold, Luna Lake, Amber Temple. We go bang, bang, bang.
Kyle Beams: Sure.
The Blade's Edge: All right.
Kyle: Sounds good to me.
The Blade's Edge: Is that, is that the, is that the plan?
Kyle Beams: Yeah, unless you guys want to go to the lake first and then go to Argenvossolt.
Trevor: yeah him.
Kyle Beams: I think we get him his spellbook first, see what happens, and then we can go to the other places. Getting getting a wizard spellbook back seems like a pretty solid first point of...
Vesz'rak: Oh, he's got...
Kyle: Yeah, that does seem pretty high priority.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, he's with us. Let's go to...
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, let's go to Luna Lake first.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. So we're going to Luna Lake, and Valentine, a.k.a.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, he's...
Kyle: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Sorry.
Kyle Beams: the Mad Mage, is coming along with us. Is he bringing his family?
The Blade's Edge: Oh yeah.
Trevor: yes
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Oh yeah.
Kyle Beams: All right.
Vesz'rak: Oh, fuck.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: We're mobbing out.
Vesz'rak: What if they die?
The Blade's Edge: Phillip and Phillip and Siler are coming.
Vesz'rak: What if they die on the way?
Kyle: Bringing the goat.
Kyle Beams: We're bringing them.
Vesz'rak: oh shit.
Kyle Beams: That's okay.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Kyle: Love a little escort mission, huh? Huh, boys?
Kyle Beams: No, no Wyverns, no Griffins, no Wyverns, no Griffins.
Trevor: Hey, Brian, quick question for you.
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Trevor: With that Find Familiar spell, I was just like, ah this whole time, I just assumed it was like an eight-hour thing where it just went away after X amount of time. But am i correct in saying, does it not go away unless it drops to zero hit points?
The Blade's Edge: I think so.
Trevor: Fuck yeah. Okay, right. So that thing's still around somewhere.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, let's ah let's pull up the spell real quick.
Trevor: Yeah, I can...
The Blade's Edge: Casting time is an hour if you do it as a ritual or no, I guess you just can do a ritual.
Trevor: Right. Right.
The Blade's Edge: role It depends on you drops your hit points disappears. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever.
Trevor: yeah
The Blade's Edge: ah That's funny wording because reappear when it drops your hit points, to his peers in the pocket dimension, it leaves behind anything it was worrying or carrying.
Trevor: yeah
Kyle Beams: Or ever.
The Blade's Edge: ah You cannot have more than one at a time. yeah Yeah, you just have it until it until ah ah is dismiss killed or you dismiss it
Trevor: Sick. ah Yeah, that if that goes to even if so yeah, I still have that around. ah But then I think if we're passing through Vallaki, if I could quickly stop in and just get like spend 20 gold or something on another like enough for another like two castings of it, I would like to do that real speedy like as we pass through if that's possible.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. Yeah. What are you, um, what do you need to buy for that?
Kyle Beams: Cool.
Trevor: I think it's just the... Here, let me pull it up. Ten gold pieces worth of charcoal, incense, and herbs that must be consumed by fire in a brass brassiere. I had gotten the brass brassiere and all that shit last time, so I just need the ten gold piece worth of charcoal, incense, and herbs.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. Well, as you guys begin to head down the mountain, you guys can go ahead and on this map, plot your way to get to Vallaki and then Luna Lake, and I will ah stop you if anything ah should come up.
Kyle Beams: Okay, plot us out, Tommy.
Vesz'rak: All right, here we go. we're going to follow the ridge line by the water, and then we're going to hit the main road, head west.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: And we're 100% not going to get distracted by a guy throwing a body overboard in Lake Zarevich, right?
Vesz'rak: No.
Trevor: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: i know Yeah, I know I know i ah drew a stick figure in the lake last time.
Kyle Beams: 100%, no sidetracks.
Vesz'rak: Okay, we're going to hit the bridge west of Wallachie.
Kyle Beams: We're sticking to the mission.
Vesz'rak: We're going to follow the Luna River.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, so that's good for now. So let's let's go ahead.
Vesz'rak: All right.
The Blade's Edge: So you guys begin your trek down back towards Vallaki to get some supplies on your way to Luna Lake. um And let me go ahead and get...
The Blade's Edge: ah Everybody can go ahead and roll me a D20.
Kyle Beams: Yes.
Vesz'rak: Show me what you got. 10, 8, 10, and 5.
Kyle Beams: i I'm playing Dungeons & Dragons four days in a row, and this is day two, and it makes me so happy to consistently be rolling D20s.
Kyle: Eat.
Vesz'rak: ten eight ten and five
The Blade's Edge: Okay, cool. You guys, I think it doesn't take you very long. I think you're not heading up a mountain. You're kind of heading downhill. And then you eventually reach the lake where the trees kind of part because you're hugging the lakeside.
The Blade's Edge: um I think maybe the only thing that could catch your interest is that while you were up in the Svalich Woods north of Lake Zarevich by Mount Baritok,
The Blade's Edge: didn't really hear any sort of wolf activity, cetera. Maybe the minute you get back close to Volaki, you just hear to the south, probably pretty far into the woods to the south. You just start hearing your first, arroo, arroo, arroo.
Kyle Beams: um You see Stalvoduck trying to break free from the party and going to the wolves.
Vesz'rak: I refuse to let Mommy Night distract me this day.
Kyle Beams: I want to kill him. I want to kill him.
Kyle: No, no. No distractions.
Kyle Beams: Fine. Fine. Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan. We'll be able to kill some werewolves later, right?
The Blade's Edge: ah You guys...
Kyle: course.
The Blade's Edge: You guys make it to Vallaki pretty quickly, honestly. I mean, five, you know, um almost six miles, most of it's downhill.
The Blade's Edge: Clear, no rough terrain, nothing in your way. It looks like Valentine's sort of, um you know, foray as a fake woodsman um actually has given him some survival skills.
The Blade's Edge: So he is how like sort of helping lead the way. And i think you guys get there pretty quickly. Maybe takes you guys, you know, ah just because you're coming from the woods, have to cross a lake and do all that. Maybe takes you guys a couple hours, two hours.
The Blade's Edge: ah But you guys are there at roughly, you know, still sort of a 10 a.m. m sort of vibe. um
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: You guys get to Vallaki. um I won't make us role play it. Trev, you get as much of that as you need. How many did you want to get? too
Trevor: ah Yeah, two would be sweet.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. Roll me a persuasion check. We'll see if you can if you can save some gold on that because it'll be 20.
Trevor: Oh, hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Unless you...
Trevor: Oh, I'm not very persuasive. See them?
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Yeah, maybe it's it's that's maybe it's that Steve guy, but he still has... He has...
Trevor: So I honestly, if it was Steve, if it was that Steve guy, I would straight up just walk in, drop 20 gold on the counter.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: It'd be like, can I just get the same thing I got last time? No, no funny business, you know? Send it out.
The Blade's Edge: I love that. Same stuff you got last time. No funny business. I love that because that's not good or bad, really.
Trevor: Yeah, exactly.
The Blade's Edge: That's just a neutral transaction. Here you go. Here's the stuff.
Trevor: Fuck yeah. Thank you. me little handshake, out the door.
The Blade's Edge: Honestly, you don't need to thank me. This is my job. I have to do this. This is what I do.
Trevor: You're totally, honestly, my bad. You're totally right.
The Blade's Edge: I don't have to do it, but I also need to live. You know what i mean?
Trevor: ah Yeah, I do, actually. Yeah, for sure.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Kyle: This guy.
Trevor: Have a day.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it will. And that is one thing that we can be certain about is that this will be a day.
Trevor: Absolutely.
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, and a night. Also, my favorite part of the day?
Kyle Beams: I think it's always...
Trevor: That's true.
Kyle Beams: Bye!
The Blade's Edge: Afternoon.
Trevor: That's your favorite.
Vesz'rak: That was a big afternoon.
The Blade's Edge: Right in the middle there.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, right big afternoon enjoyer, huh?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: Damn.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, well, not big. Medium.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
Trevor: What is your favorite though?
Kyle: If I don't see you afternoon, evening, and night.
The Blade's Edge: Sort of a normal amount. Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. All right. Bye.
Kyle Beams: yeah
Trevor: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: ah You get your 20 colds?
Trevor: Favorite favorite dude in this entire fucking in all of Barovia. That's my favorite dude.
Kyle: So funny.
The Blade's Edge: Steve of Vlocky.
Kyle Beams: Steve of Alaki.
Kyle: oh bo
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: Crazy thing about being the Steve.
The Blade's Edge: And then you guys ah leave Vlocky heading west and south. Why don't you go ahead and plot that out for me? You're heading to Luna Lake.
Kyle Beams: Hit us with it. Hit us with it.
Vesz'rak: Show me what you got. All right, here we go. Crossing over the river, following the other bridge.
The Blade's Edge: Bridge on Luna River.
Vesz'rak: Then we're following the river south. We're following the Lunar River south. Passing Argenvossal. Still following the river.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, not not close enough to see it, but it is up on a hill. So you do see there's sort of this like castle up on a hill, sort of destroyed castle.
Vesz'rak: see the tip. we see the tip
The Blade's Edge: And so let's go ahead and for let's mark right that you're there for now, right before you cross that river.
Kyle Beams: Five miles in. 19.
The Blade's Edge: So five miles in. 5.8
Vesz'rak: oh
The Blade's Edge: Milwaukee at 10 a.m., m then about five miles in You're running on, you know, noon-ish. And everybody roll me a d20. Okay.
Kyle Beams: nineteen
Trevor: Four.
Vesz'rak: Sixteen!
The Blade's Edge: left.
The Blade's Edge: um love la Um, okay, go ahead and, and which woods are we, where are we here?
Trevor: Lovely.
The Blade's Edge: We're sort of by the Svalich woods by Luna river heading south. Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Um,
The Blade's Edge: just look at something here. Let me just look at something here. Um,
The Blade's Edge: Okay, why don't um ah stall the dock? Go ahead and ah roll me a D4.
Kyle Beams: Okay, coming at you. D4. Four. ah for
The Blade's Edge: Four. um As you guys make your way across the river, um maybe when you when you get to these, I'm going move your token down a bit.
The Blade's Edge: When you get to sort of where these...
Trevor: Thank
The Blade's Edge: um
The Blade's Edge: little trees, little sections of of of woods that surround the lake on either side. As you guys get close, you see that in these trees, perched up on these trees, watching you guys all very carefully, are like swarms and swarms of ravens.
Vesz'rak: mean that's a good sign, right? I mean, like we're super friendly with Ravens.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Kyle: bats that we gotta worry about.
Kyle: I think.
Vesz'rak: We should have brought Crow with us.
Kyle Beams: Oh, shit, we could have brought eat crow.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, we should have brought Eat Crow with us.
Kyle: my
The Blade's Edge: I think Valentine says, ah I'm not sure who that is, but it sounds like he would probably try to eat these guys now.
Kyle Beams: i think I think you might have made eat crow.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, it would be more of a deterrent than anything.
The Blade's Edge: Really?
The Blade's Edge: What was he? Eat crow.
Kyle Beams: He's a scarecrow that liked instead of scare them, he ate them.
Vesz'rak: true
Kyle Beams: Which is actually probably inspiring a lot of fear into them. So he is still a scarecrow, but he is also an eat crow.
The Blade's Edge: Hmm. Eat crow, scarecrow. Interesting. All right. Well, um maybe it's a good thing we didn't bring him then because it sounds like he'd probably try to scare these guys. Right. And if you're saying they're friends of yours, which is just sort of wave. He waves at them.
The Blade's Edge: Hello. i
Kyle Beams: Hello. Hey.
Vesz'rak: Did I wave back?
Kyle Beams: Yeah, they just...
The Blade's Edge: ah You see one. You see like the one at at the front just sort of cocks its head to the right.
Kyle Beams: Squaw!
Trevor: ah
Kyle: you
Vesz'rak: All right. So we're cool with these guys. Let's go in.
Trevor: I imagine like if that were a movie scene, it would like pan up and you just see a fuckload Ravens. But like in the background that probably nobody would see one Raven would try and wave.
Trevor: But his other Raven buddy would like smack him on the back of the head. Like, fucking stop, dude.
Kyle Beams: He's not cool.
The Blade's Edge: yeah
Kyle Beams: He's not cool. We don't like him.
Trevor: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Ah, but he's so cool.
Trevor: ah Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Look at his hat.
Vesz'rak: He just waved.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. and In Ravenspeak, they're saying, dude, that's the guy that made Eathcrow.
Trevor: ah Yeah. What the fuck are you doing?
The Blade's Edge: We'll wave at that guy.
Trevor: He's not cool, man.
Kyle Beams: He is not cool.
The Blade's Edge: um but anyway, you guys see these guys just sort of making the world feel alive. Not all random encounters that we roll are deadly and and are bad. Sometimes they are just neutral.
The Blade's Edge: um And you can sort of file that information.
Trevor: That's wow. Today panning out to be a Steve type of day.
Vesz'rak: Yeah. Yeah. Praise Steve.
Trevor: Praise Steve.
The Blade's Edge: And you guys can continue.
Vesz'rak: All right. So we're still following the river down. I'm going to we get to like where the lake starts and I'm going to look over to Valentine and be like, all right, where do you last remember having your book at Luna Lake?
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Well, this will be, i will move you and i will actually let you know exactly what you see.
Trevor: dragons invading Dave and Busters.
The Blade's Edge: um Yeah. um did Do do. T, T, T. and we go down to t Okay.
The Blade's Edge: So first of all, to get there, you pass this sort of um bridge right here. And on the bridge, um you see it's this gravel road.
The Blade's Edge: That ah looks like it goes down towards this mountain down here where you guys are and this gravel road. um And it looks like this place is called.
The Blade's Edge: ah
Trevor: you
The Blade's Edge: so so can't show you that road, but you can kind of see it. So that mountain, maybe you see on us on a signpost near that bridge that you guys stop by. You see that this is called Solenka Pass.
The Blade's Edge: And that mountain that the road continues on and and hugs, that mount is called Mount Gakus.
Kyle Beams: now
Kyle Beams: I'm about to GAC.
Kyle: It's Gackin' Time.
Kyle Beams: It's GAC in time.
The Blade's Edge: um And...
Kyle Beams: Three seconds. That's all it takes.
The Blade's Edge: And yeah, you see that um on the other side of the bridge... Obviously, you're not going there right now, but on the other side of the bridge, you do see that there is sort of a gatehouse.
The Blade's Edge: Um...
The Blade's Edge: So sort of to even to eat like on the bridge, actually. So as you guys come to the bridge, the bridge is ah there is a gate. There is a gatehouse on both sides.
The Blade's Edge: Obviously, you're not you're not necessarily heading there right now. But if you look at it, like where that black line is and where that black line is, the gate, the bridge is sort of blocked off.
The Blade's Edge: There are these gatehouses with like portcullises and stuff.
Vesz'rak: Okay, we couldn't cross the bridge if we tried.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Um, you potentially could. I mean, you see the shelf of rock on which the mountain road ah clings grows narrow. Uh, to your left, the icy cliffs rise sharply towards dark rolling clouds.
The Blade's Edge: To your right, the ground falls away into sea of fog. Ahead, through the wind wind and snow, you see a high wall of, uh, black stone. ah so maybe as you get down here, it started to snow.
The Blade's Edge: you guys reached Luna Lake. Um, um you see a high wall of black stone lined with spikes and topped by statues that look like demonic vultures with horned heads set in the center of the wall is a closed iron portcullis behind which burns a curtain of green flame so this very arcana like like moving green flame is behind the iron portcullis
Kyle Beams: Wow. Sure. a
The Blade's Edge: On the other side of the dark wall, gripping the mountain's edge, is a guard tower of white stone topped by golden statues of mighty warriors.
Trevor: Sick.
Kyle Beams: wow
The Blade's Edge: That does seem like that's maybe something that you're doing after this, but just letting you know because you're you guys have decided to come straight down to Luna Lake and you're right next to this guard tower and these port calices.
Kyle Beams: sure
The Blade's Edge: um And as you get to the lake...
The Blade's Edge: I will move you. You see, on the lake, there is sort of a almost like a town in the middle of the lake.
The Blade's Edge: You see, first of all, everybody make a maybe perception check before I move you.
Kyle Beams: I love those towns in the middle of the lake.
Kyle: A Persepi?
The Blade's Edge: Mm-hmm.
Kyle: do love a good Perception deck.
Kyle Beams: 23...
Kyle: Never mind, this game sucks 13.
Kyle Beams: twenty three
Trevor: Oh, 14.
Vesz'rak: eighteen
The Blade's Edge: Trav, what'd you roll?
Trevor: of fourteen
The Blade's Edge: um So as you guys approach, you see that there's this, it's it's it's raining and it's it's it's snowing, a little bit of both. um You see that there's a little town in the middle of the lake.
The Blade's Edge: And you see it there's a ship that's in the water, but that's like held up by like wooden planks coming out of the water. Like it's a ship that's being worked on.
The Blade's Edge: um And I will put you guys on this map.
Kyle Beams: A ship that's being worked on.
Kyle: Whoa. whoa
The Blade's Edge: Yes, you see that that is where you come to the lake. Do you still have your horse? Okay, the horse is not there, but Trev, is your raven there?
Vesz'rak: No, no, no. That was only a short time.
Trevor: Yeah. It's like a dark owl.
The Blade's Edge: Raven is with you, and you should... You can control it, yes. um Oh yeah, Dark Owl, sorry. It is...
Trevor: Oh, Gucci. I almost called it a rave in a second here, too.
The Blade's Edge: like that yes um yeah valentine philip and sila are with you and as you guys approach the lake uh it's it's it's very cold here um yeah you see a a ship um being worked on and then you see this this sort of uh sort of almost like town in the middle of of luna lake no
Kyle Beams: Okay.
Kyle: Is it? This isn't underwater, is it? Okay.
Vesz'rak: I'm sorry, Brian. The steed is still there. i was just reading up on it. Or still there.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, you're...
Vesz'rak: and until until Until it dies or I dismiss it.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Kyle Beams: Wow, this is a big map.
The Blade's Edge: This is...
Kyle: This area looks crazy.
The Blade's Edge: And what is the... ah what what What spell is that again, Tommy?
Vesz'rak: Find steed.
Kyle Beams: um Find Steve.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, find Steve.
The Blade's Edge: Valentine says, is this where my stuff is? My spellbook? My ah staff?
Kyle Beams: Yeah, try to attune yourself to the weave. See if you maybe get like a little ping and I make the radar sound like pop, pop, pop.
The Blade's Edge: okay He sort of walks up to this cliff you know overlooking the water. Philip and Sila behind him. And he closes his eyes and holds his hand out.
The Blade's Edge: Barmani. Vashtani. Roll me a d10.
Kyle Beams: Me?
The Blade's Edge: Yep. Okay.
Kyle Beams: Cool. And then i would also cast detect Detect Magic at first level to help him out.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. ah With a roll me a
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: 64.
Kyle: So close.
Kyle Beams: I rolled a Nat 69 on the D69 roll yesterday.
Kyle: No way, bro.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, it was insane. so Set my whole day on fire. I loved it.
The Blade's Edge: um As he attunes to the weave, you you all here um hear Philip going, ah, ah. and Syla sort of give out a meow, meow, meow.
The Blade's Edge: And then, out of nowhere, you guys hear Philip go, ah, you can do it.
Vesz'rak: What is with these guys?
The Blade's Edge: You got this. Come on, Valentine. You can do it. And you hear Syla go, you got this, meow. You can do it.
Vesz'rak: like
The Blade's Edge: Attune to the weave.
Vesz'rak: What?
Trevor: Just can't speak with animals.
The Blade's Edge: Uh...
Kyle Beams: I look down at them and just like, cock my head so far that it turns upside down.
Vesz'rak: I'm freaking out, dude.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, with a detect magic, i'll and because Trev called it out, that's exactly what happened. yeah A mass speak with animals just cast um but from him ah trying to attune to the weave, and he he looks back, and he for continues talking to them as he has been, and you guys realize that he can talk to them this whole time, and now you guys are a part of that, at least for the next minute.
Vesz'rak: Not to compel, duel these animals, dude.
Kyle Beams: Hilarious.
The Blade's Edge: um but he says i i got nothing i can't seem to find it uh with the detect magic stalva doc you see that um he's very magical just in essence you also get you also see the lake there is a strong magical presence emanating from the lake um itself um
Kyle Beams: Well, powerful wizard, powerful spell book. Maybe there's some kind of correlation. And while I'm not proficient in Arcana, I do have plus five int.
Kyle Beams: So um I think maybe making our way towards the um the town here. See if anybody's got some kind of maybe like a library or something that might have the picked up the book.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you, um for what it's worth, ah you do not see, I'm going to actually move the ship token that I have on the map to ah a more appropriate place because this place, there is not a way to get to the town.
Vesz'rak: Oh, it's like a...
The Blade's Edge: It is floating. It's like a, it is an island in the middle of the lake. There is this map that I, that I, yeah, this map that I found is, um you know, has it.
Kyle Beams: ah Oh, I see. i see.
The Blade's Edge: with a little inland the thing. ah that just That is not actually there.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: I see. Cool. It's just basically like a moat.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, but the ship is being worked on right there. um I've just covered up that that thing with it.
Vesz'rak: Is there like a ferry or anything around, Brian? Like how would they get to land? Or we just got to swim it.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you don't see any sort of ferry around.
The Blade's Edge: Valentine says...
Vesz'rak: Interesting.
The Blade's Edge: So what is this? So, Stal of a Doc, I see that you've cast a spell. What is it what is it telling you?
Kyle Beams: um Well, it's telling me that the lake and the waters around here itself are coursing with magic.
The Blade's Edge: Jeez.
Kyle Beams: Also, I can hear the voices of your family. They're quite nice and supportive.
The Blade's Edge: Ah. He smiles and goes, yeah, they're great. No, I didn't know that that's what happened. ah
Vesz'rak: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: I tried to sort of attune myself to the weave, and I guess i accidentally cast a spell. Whoops.
Kyle Beams: yeah i ah I can kind of empathize with that because there are some spells that I have no control over casting as well.
The Blade's Edge: Well, what do we what do we do i don't how do? How do we get out there? there's no There's no boat. It's fucking freezing here.
Kyle Beams: um Let's see i and cast Vortex Warp to warp somebody over there and maybe you can get the boat to come get us or maybe get a rowboat on the other side.
Vesz'rak: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Well, the only boat I see is that one. It looks like somebody's building a boat. like so that this that There's no ferries here, but there's one boat. It's like... he He tells you what I told you, which is that it's like held up by wooden sticks or wooden planks coming out of the water, holding it up so that it like the hull can be built.
The Blade's Edge: like The hull's not intact on the bottom, like somebody's building a ship.
Kyle Beams: It's snowing, so we don't have a very good visibility of all the way over there, but can I do a perception check to see if I see anyone? 21.
The Blade's Edge: Sure. Yeah, give your a perception check.
Kyle Beams: one one
The Blade's Edge: um You... Yeah, you maybe see... ah somebody ah working on the boat, but you only see one person.
The Blade's Edge: You see like one random like figure out in the water, like in the hull, doing something, maybe hammering, but you only...
Kyle Beams: In the water interesting.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's it's held up out of the water, but he's out where the boat is, so he's not in the town. This person's over by buy the boat in the hull. You just ran from where you are. You just see, you know, you're so far away that you see a, ah like, just a shape move.
The Blade's Edge: And, you know, well, there's at least one person.
Kyle Beams: Interesting.
Vesz'rak: I kind of like the vortex warp idea.
Kyle Beams: I can warp you into into town and see if you can get somebody to let us in meet with the. Whoever's in charge.
Kyle Beams: I can do it a couple times, too.
Kyle Beams: So you're not alone.
The Blade's Edge: Are you talking to me?
Kyle Beams: Oh, no, I was talking to D'Saan.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I mean, that'll work. I, um...
Kyle Beams: I'll send D'Saan and Anabi in there, and then Bash and I will head towards what we perceive as the entrance to the south, maybe, by the boat.
Kyle: Yeah.
Trevor: How many?
Kyle Beams: What do you think
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I could try and go talk and try to find like, uh, I could talk good.
Kyle Beams: Would you like to get warped?
Kyle Beams: Yeah, you can talk good. Yeah, I'll walk up to you guys.
Trevor: If more people want to go, i can also vortex work. um But if we just this whole time.
Vesz'rak: This whole time.
Kyle Beams: Hmm. Hmm.
Trevor: Um, but that's the, it's, it only be four. So it would be kind of like same scenario where it would be just like a smaller group out here. Well,
Kyle Beams: Well, I mean, we can get we can get the four of us and then leave everyone else out, and then we just come get them.
Kyle: I do think that I should be on the ship, one of the first on the ship, as if anything goes wrong, I can sort of, you know, use may use my might to make sure everyone's okay.
Kyle Beams: Ah.
Trevor: big Mike guy.
Kyle Beams: Big might Big strength guy.
Vesz'rak: ah Well, if both of you guys cast Vortex Warp, we could get everybody.
Kyle: Big might guy.
Kyle Beams: Vortex Warp only hits one target, right?
Trevor: There's two creatures.
Kyle Beams: So it's the Vortex Warp we're familiar with is from our other campaign, Tommy, where you were always twin spell Vortex Warping.
Vesz'rak: oh right, right, right.
Kyle Beams: So we're all like, oh yeah, you can do two people with Vortex Warp when really you can you can only do one person.
Vesz'rak: ah yeah Well, you you can't can't twin spell it, huh?
Trevor: Oh, if you,
Kyle Beams: Yeah, no, can't.
Vesz'rak: ha, ha.
Trevor: well, if you upcast it, you can get more people. So if you have like third level spell slots, you could get two.
Kyle Beams: That's true.
Trevor: And then with a fourth level spell slot, you could get three.
Vesz'rak: What if Bash, what if we sent Bash and Anabi?
Trevor: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: So Anabi sends Bash and then Doc sends Anabi.
Trevor: Uh, uh,
Vesz'rak: Anabi can be sneaky guy. Bash can be talky brawny guy.
Kyle Beams: Sure.
Kyle: Yeah, whatever whatever works.
Kyle Beams: If that's what you guys want to do. Yeah.
Kyle: That works for me.
Kyle Beams: Cool.
Trevor: Cool.
Kyle Beams: So I will vortex warp Inabi once he vortex warps Bash.
Trevor: Done.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, and Vortex Warp can get you how far?
Kyle Beams: 90 feet from the location it's cast. So if we're right on the edge of the water here. Oh,
The Blade's Edge: Sure. So that's a cliff that you're on.
Kyle Beams: that's a cliff.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you're standing on a cliff overlooking the water.
Kyle Beams: OK. We're at the precipice.
The Blade's Edge: Sure, yeah, and then there's like this hill, this domed hill out in the middle of the water where on top of it sits sort of a almost monastery-looking-ass house at the forefront of the town.
Kyle Beams: Hey, if it's a monastery.
The Blade's Edge: ah You know, this this town, you only, monastery-looking, and you see this town only has like, ah you know, six sort of huts, hut-looking things inside.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: It's not like a big-ass town. Yeah. But you guys feel free to move your tokens once you cast it.
Kyle Beams: All right.
Kyle Beams: Where you headed, Bash? You get 90 feet from the location right here. So probably next to an obby.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. As you do, Valentine's eyes go wide as he looks at the water and he says, wait, watch out.
Kyle Beams: ah
Kyle: i see
The Blade's Edge: And you both, as you land on this side of the hill, see coming out of the water two massive tentacles.
Kyle: ah
Kyle Beams: Oh.
Kyle: Oh, they're cracking.
Vesz'rak: classic Classic Lord of the Rings. huh
Trevor: Look, the Kraken.
The Blade's Edge: um And you see in one of them sort of ah grappled, or maybe maybe it's more interesting if it's like like sunken into the tentacle skin.
The Blade's Edge: On one of them, the one to the north, you see a book.
Kyle Beams: Oh.
The Blade's Edge: And piercing one on the south, you see a staff.
Vesz'rak: ah my god
Kyle Beams: Oh.
The Blade's Edge: As these two tentacles that are...
Vesz'rak: It's a fucking magical kraken, bro.
Kyle: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: That are obviously attached to, they're attached to a body that you cannot see. ah But as they pop out of the water and whip all wildly around, Valentine goes, oh no!
The Blade's Edge: And like falls back on his butt and goes, wait, is that my book? And everybody can roll initiative.
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah, squid belly time.
Kyle Beams: You're not werewolf.
Kyle Beams: 10 initiative.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, the initiative will be thus. It will be Tentacle to the North, Dasan, Bash, Stalvodok, Inabi, Tentacle to the South. Sorry, let me roll for Valentine here. um he will go...
The Blade's Edge: right, he'll go towards the end there. All right, so as you guys get Vortex Warp, this magic cresting over the lake, um this ah first tentacle whips out and will whip its form towards Bash.
Kyle: Fuck.
The Blade's Edge: And Bash, as it gets close, um it almost stops. outside of hitting you, it gets close and you feel the water whip off the end of the tentacle towards you and the book inside of it lights up.
Kyle: Oh.
The Blade's Edge: There's a 30 hit you.
Kyle: Yeah, Ryan, a 30 hits me.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. um
Kyle Beams: ah
The Blade's Edge: ah You take 15 points of piercing damage and the water turns to acid as it strikes your body to eight points of acid damage.
Kyle Beams: Best questions.
Trevor: o
Kyle: Oh, brother.
Kyle Beams: oh brother.
The Blade's Edge: as this tentacle that has flung out of the water, instead of hitting you with the tentacle form, just cast a spell.
The Blade's Edge: Dasan, you see these tentacles are up. You're up.
Vesz'rak: Oh boy.
Trevor: Thank you.
Vesz'rak: So the one to the north has the book in it. All
The Blade's Edge: One in the north has the book, one of the south has his staff.
Vesz'rak: right. I'm about to go.
The Blade's Edge: They each have something.
Vesz'rak: I'm about to go crazy mode. Oh, this guy's are actually kind of far.
Kyle Beams: yeah Let's see it.
Vesz'rak: um Can I? i'd like to run to the edge of the water and then try to misty step onto the tentacle, but like at the book.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: Could I do that?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. the Yeah. I mean, it's a tentacle like whipping and wailing around. So we're going to go ahead and call that...
Kyle: gonna ride the bull the lightning baby
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm trying to ride the ball. All
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, let me see.
Kyle Beams: ah Let's go.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, I'm going to need, I'll let you make the call. I'm going to give you all the tools at your disposal, whether you want it to be a strength saving throw, a dexterity saving throw, an athletics check, an acrobatics check.
Vesz'rak: right.
The Blade's Edge: You can totally do that. The DC is 21.
Vesz'rak: ah Look, when push comes to shove, Brian.
Kyle Beams: And we call the lightning, you know how it goes.
Vesz'rak: Okay, so, yeah, look, we've believeve been we've been down this road before.
Kyle Beams: so
Vesz'rak: First Mrs.
Kyle: Wait, do we have do we have inspiration? I think we have inspiration, right?
Vesz'rak: No, not on my screen.
The Blade's Edge: ah
Vesz'rak: Not on my screen.
The Blade's Edge: give you guys I'll give you guys each inspiration.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
Kyle: I have inspiration marked on my... I think it was from Saving Valentine, right?
The Blade's Edge: and normally they yeah Normally they won't transfer over, but let's do it.
Vesz'rak: but We're greasing the wheel. We're greasing the wheel here.
Kyle: Or...
Vesz'rak: all right.
Kyle: Or... My fault.
The Blade's Edge: Let's do it.
Vesz'rak: All right.
Kyle: I mean, you you don't have to. I was just, you know...
The Blade's Edge: No, I love it.
Trevor: I, okay.
The Blade's Edge: I love it.
Kyle: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Vesz'rak: All right.
Trevor: We're all getting it.
Vesz'rak: I like...
Trevor: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Take inspiration.
Vesz'rak: I like...
The Blade's Edge: Everybody's got inspiration.
Vesz'rak: I like Titan...
Trevor: Fuck. Yeah.
Kyle: Give us inspiration for the sick idea that you just had.
Vesz'rak: I tighten my pauldrons.
Kyle Beams: mrs
Vesz'rak: I tighten all like my straps and stuff like that. Sheed the sword and the shield, and I just start big arm pumpy towards the edge of the water. yeah Jump, misty step. It's been cast, second level spell.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: And then I would like an athletics check to try to ride the ball. All
The Blade's Edge: Got it.
Trevor: Oh, let's go.
The Blade's Edge: DC 21.
Kyle: Yeehaw, baby.
Vesz'rak: right, here we go.
Kyle Beams: That one, you're on it, but the tentacle is in your ass.
Vesz'rak: Why i not why am I not? No, why am I not standing up? Sorry, I'm standing up. Standing up, athletics check, coming in.
Vesz'rak: Uh, inspiration time? Boom!
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: Still standing up. Maybe I should sit down?
Vesz'rak: ah Does it 12 do it?
Kyle Beams: Oh.
Vesz'rak: Does it 12 do Ah!
Trevor: It did technically help a little bit.
Vesz'rak: it does develop
Kyle: ah
Trevor: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: ah you
Kyle: You were inspired, but like just a little bit.
The Blade's Edge: You fall into the water. um you You are now ah swimming in the water and you can feel something underneath as the water sort of burbles and gurgles around you.
Vesz'rak: Jesus Christ.
Kyle: Oh, God. no I hate this.
Vesz'rak: Horsey, come save me!
The Blade's Edge: um I'm going to say as a that is most of your movement, but you're right here. Yeah, you still
Vesz'rak: Can swing the sword?
Kyle: Even with the fact that he missed, he stepped.
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
Trevor: I just like the horsey.
The Blade's Edge: Missy step.
Vesz'rak: yeah
Kyle: he didn't He didn't technically move there.
Trevor: Come save me.
The Blade's Edge: Oh, he ran and then jumped and then did it. Jumping does cost your movement, so does running.
Vesz'rak: of so hey Brian, you're saying a lot of words.
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle Beams: Slice them
Vesz'rak: I'm swinging.
The Blade's Edge: Cool, cool. Yeah, you have your action.
Kyle: Oh, my
Vesz'rak: One-handed, shields out.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: ah First attack.
The Blade's Edge: And your movement is halved in water unless you have a swim speed.
Vesz'rak: Dirty 20. All right.
The Blade's Edge: That does hit. Okay.
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle Beams: slice them up
Vesz'rak: One-handed, 11.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, 11 damage.
Vesz'rak: and Second.
The Blade's Edge: It rise.
Vesz'rak: You know, what' just we' we're going pump a first-level smite ah into it. Just test ah test the water stuff.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. It is not undead.
Vesz'rak: Testing the waters, four smite damage. I am rolling just as I normally do. Why am I even surprised? Second swing. 21.
The Blade's Edge: 21 hits.
Kyle Beams: Let's go.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Trevor: Hey, your hits are good
Vesz'rak: One-handed eight.
The Blade's Edge: okay
Vesz'rak: Oh, man.
Trevor: Why am I surprised?
Vesz'rak: Why i am I always surprised that I roll so mediocre?
Trevor: I don't know why I really like the image in my head of you just like half drowning going, horsey, save me.
Vesz'rak: All right. ah just
Trevor: Oh, God. and The horse is just like, dude, what the fuck?
Kyle Beams: like, dude, I'm a horse not known for swimming.
Vesz'rak: it's just just
Kyle: Oh, this guy guy's, this guy's fucked.
Trevor: Yeah. Yeah. It's so funny.
Kyle Beams: I am a land a mammal, not a
Vesz'rak: Come help me.
Kyle Beams: Uber!
Trevor: so
Vesz'rak: he' just, he's just eating a carrot that I just gave him. Look it over at me.
Trevor: completely unfazed.
Vesz'rak: All right.
Trevor: doesn't give a shit. That's so funny.
Vesz'rak: That's all. Uh, okay. Uh, jumped, Missy step, swang, swang. Uh, am I submerged underwater, Bri?
The Blade's Edge: No, you're swimming. Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Okay, thank God.
The Blade's Edge: Okay,
Vesz'rak: All right, that's my turn.
Trevor: That was good.
The Blade's Edge: hold on. Let me just make sure that's the right thing. It is. And your control is right there. Boom, boom.
Kyle: I do love the image of swinging the sun sword in water. I think it that would look so sick. Just like the light kind of slightly shining throughout the water. Some god rays.
Trevor: Oh, true.
Vesz'rak: gets these purple tentacles.
The Blade's Edge: The rain...
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: ah The rain, the snow, you are thrashing in the water at the end of your turn. The creature underwater will use a legendary action these purple rings get shot up.
Kyle: Love that.
The Blade's Edge: this ah ah these purple rings get shot up The spell book on one tentacle flips open to a page. The pierced tentacle down below with a staff in it points the staff at you, and these rings from up underneath the water go around you, and then the spell book illuminates, the staff illuminates, and the rings close around your body.
The Blade's Edge: Dasan, I need you to make a wisdom saving throw. DC21.
Vesz'rak: All right, here we go. Not standing up this time.
Kyle: Please make this wisdom saving throw.
Vesz'rak: Hey.
Kyle Beams: Oh, I love it.
Vesz'rak: Whoa. What?
Kyle Beams: ah
Vesz'rak: What?
Kyle Beams: ah
Trevor: Oh my god.
Vesz'rak: What? What yes
Kyle: Yeah. going need you to start re-rolling your next character.
Kyle Beams: oh i love it
Vesz'rak: that's the
Trevor: it up.
Vesz'rak: that's it na can i hey right actually i think i missspoke earlier can i go back to land and not you get just see my home get some
Trevor: That's
Vesz'rak: ah yeah so that's an that's an that one whizzy
The Blade's Edge: ah That's a nat one, Wizzy.
Trevor: let
The Blade's Edge: You take 34 points of psychic damage.
Kyle: Oh my fucking
Kyle Beams: Oh no.
Vesz'rak: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: And Dasan, you are stunned until the start of your next turn, and Dasan starts to sink underneath the water as he cannot keep himself afloat.
Vesz'rak: Nice.
Kyle: god.
Kyle: oh my fucking god
Kyle Beams: No.
Vesz'rak: And how much damage do I, Tommy, take?
The Blade's Edge: um A cough's worth, because i think he just got it.
Vesz'rak: yeah
Kyle Beams: Yeah. Goodness gracious.
The Blade's Edge: Dasan begins to sink. I have to take 34 psychic damage. Stal the dock, you are up.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. So on my turn, I see this massive tentacle spring up from the lake below. and a big grin appears on my face, and um dropping from my jaw is a little pair of legs, poof, and then ah it starts walking around, and a turret comes out from the center of it and aims at the tentacle.
Kyle Beams: um So I'm using my Eldritch Cannon.
Kyle Beams: um
The Blade's Edge: Hell yeah.
Kyle Beams: And so as an action, I summon a Force Ballista. And this thing looks kind of mean. um And then as my bonus action, I'm going to make a ranged spell attack with it.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Kyle Beams: And that's going to be a 15. 15 misses.
The Blade's Edge: 15 misses. You do have inspiration.
Kyle Beams: And I do have inspiration. And because I like the idea of this thing hitting, I'm going to try again.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: And we're wrong.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, 11 will miss.
Kyle Beams: um So that's my action and my bonus action. um And then I'm going to use my movement to cruise back over here in front of family. And I'll use this guy to move to protect me over here.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: That's my turn.
The Blade's Edge: All right, you move over there. You've got your Eldridge Cannon out, ready to go. The action economy will be working in your favor. um All right, Bash. You just took some acid damage and some piercing damage from some spell that turned water into shards of acid.
The Blade's Edge: it is your turn.
Kyle: Yeah, so am I even able to physically hit him, hit this this tentacle with like a melee attack?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, if you get up to the token, you can because it's ums still coming out of the water at some point. It's it's massive, you know.
Kyle: If I move right here, still on the shore, but I'm like, you know, ah adjacent to the token, is that is that cool?
Trevor: Yeah, nice.
Kyle: Cool.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, yeah, totally. Yeah. It's writhing around, so it is able to be hit.
Kyle: um
Kyle: i yeah I'll hit him on on the next lap. ah So I'm going to bonus action rage.
Trevor: Fire.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, raging.
Kyle: Oh, mad as hell. Smack my axe against the ground. Let out a guttural roar. And then i would like to make an attack.
Kyle: And this is going to be reckless. Make a reckless attack.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, this like and this gives you advantage.
Kyle: um And then I can't... For Frenzy, i have to declare Frenzy this turn, but I can't use it until next turn, right?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you can just, whenever you want, you can you can declare it.
Kyle: Actually, I'm not going to do that.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Kyle: um But it is going to be a Reckless Attack.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. You have two attacks at advantage.
Kyle: First roll, 15. fifteen ah Second roll, 19.
The Blade's Edge: A 15 will miss.
Kyle: Ugh. nineteen
The Blade's Edge: 19 is pizza pizza. 19 is its AC.
Kyle: oh
Trevor: Let's go. Oh
Kyle: I'm
Kyle: going to be... plus 9 for 11 points of damage.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. It takes all that.
Kyle: And for my second attack...
Kyle: That is going to be a natural 20, Brian.
Kyle Beams: oh
Trevor: oh
The Blade's Edge: Oh, baby. Natural 20 hits.
Vesz'rak: Who is this guy?
The Blade's Edge: And are you, what level are you guys, by the way? Did you get your brutal critical yet or no?
Kyle Beams: We are level eight, so I think we do have Brutal Critical.
Kyle: Um...
The Blade's Edge: Okay, cool. I think that's your next level. You get that.
Kyle Beams: So all you need to do is just click the Great Axe plus two in there and it should factor in everything you have activated. so
Kyle: Let me make sure something real quick. Because do have stuff that like...
Kyle Beams: Triggers if you're raging.
Kyle: Yeah, when you so yeah I have Savage Attacks. my score a critical hit, roll one of the weapons dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage. Will that calculate?
The Blade's Edge: won't, but you can then roll another D12.
Kyle Beams: and
Kyle: Okay, let me just roll this.
The Blade's Edge: That's huge.
Kyle Beams: Savage attacks.
The Blade's Edge: Oh, it does. Savage attacks.
Kyle: ah perfect.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, there you go.
Kyle Beams: And you rolled in 11 on the D12.
The Blade's Edge: So, 9 damage.
Kyle Beams: Awesome.
Kyle: But i also, I don't think it...
The Blade's Edge: 23 critical.
Kyle: It doesn't account for rage, I don't think. So I think there's an additional two added to this.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. So, 34 damage.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, that's a huge swing.
Kyle: ah
The Blade's Edge: That's huge. This top tentacle is bloodied.
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle: Beautiful.
The Blade's Edge: And ah something to think about as youre as you're chopping at it, something to think about, that the book is in it.
Vesz'rak: that'll touch That'll teach him.
The Blade's Edge: you know So I think maybe you guys are starting to get an idea of like, hey, maybe when we when we deliver the final blow or before we deliver the final blow, we should get the book.
Trevor: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. Right.
The Blade's Edge: Because we don't want to just kill it and then it falls underwater with the book and now we have to go searching underwater for this book or whatever.
Vesz'rak: Well, I'm already underwater.
Kyle: yeah
The Blade's Edge: That's true.
Vesz'rak: So I'll catch it.
Trevor: you
Kyle: Wait, you said 34 damage? Where do you get 34 from?
The Blade's Edge: 9 plus 23 is 32, and then plus 2 is 34.
Kyle: r Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Right?
Kyle: Yes.
Kyle Beams: right
The Blade's Edge: and er
Kyle: I didn't realize that the total and total critical were being added together.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, his total damage is just your your normal damage. It's your slashing. You did a d12 plus 7. You rolled 2. It's 9. Slashing critical was a 12 on the d12.
Kyle: Gotcha.
The Blade's Edge: Your savage attacks was an 11 on the d12. So 9 23.
Kyle: For sure.
The Blade's Edge: Alright, and is that your turn?
Kyle: um That is my turn.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Not having access to all of his stuff currently. ah Valentine will does, however, have access to something that i will he's going to use. Just straight up.
The Blade's Edge: He puts his hands together and goes, Wait. Just like I was taught. Just like Mordenkainen taught me. Ah!
The Blade's Edge: And he ah releases this gout of fire that as it goes through the rain and snow, ah disintegrates all the rain and snow on the way.
Trevor: hell yeah
The Blade's Edge: And I'm going to say I'm going do this at advantage with Philip and Sila giving him the help action.
Kyle Beams: spirit bomb
The Blade's Edge: This is just a plus nine, but two to twenty plus nine. Seventeen is not going to hit. Damn. Okay. ah He shoots off a spell.
The Blade's Edge: We're seeing growth. He did something intentional that was not random and that would have seemed like it would have done a decent amount of damage.
Trevor: yeah yeah
The Blade's Edge: ah However, he missed. He will go again next turn. Inabi, you are up before the final tentacle on the bottom goes and before the next round of combat.
Trevor: All right, let's see. Bonus action, gonna do a little blade swinging.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: you know Let's see, and mark that off. All right, all right, that's nice. ah And then for my, okay, so I got a question for you. I'm gonna come up here here and also make some swings on this tentacle.
Trevor: got a question, for Booming Blade, ted I think rules is written the way this works. Like if the tentacle willingly moves five feet before my next turn, that's when it takes that extra damage.
The Blade's Edge: yeah
Trevor: In my head, if it's a tentacle like waving around that bit, like it it's not, is it taking up the space of the whole token or is that like the space that it's kind of moving in?
The Blade's Edge: That's like, it's, yes, exactly. That's the space that it that it's moving in.
Trevor: Okay, so do I think that if I were to hit it with a booming blade, even if the token doesn't necessarily move, if it were to, like, swing over here to hit him with that kind of...
The Blade's Edge: I love, hey, listen, and listen, you, listen, you sold me.
Trevor: You know what i mean?
The Blade's Edge: I'm driving home in this Buick today. Okay.
Trevor: Oh, let's fucking go.
The Blade's Edge: Listen, you sold me. Okay. I want the extra, I want the extra package with this thing.
Trevor: Hell yeah, alright.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: All right. All right.
Trevor: Fuck yeah, I'll take it.
The Blade's Edge: I'll pay the premium on this bad boy.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. You got the heated seats in that bad boy.
Trevor: ah Yes.
The Blade's Edge: yeah I want the heated seats. You've sold me. It's just when you roll it, it'll just take the extra damage because it is.
Trevor: Hell yes.
The Blade's Edge: I did say that it is whipping and waving all over the place.
Trevor: okay Okay, fuck yeah. um Okay, so I'll move up. I gotta get up close to, I'm gonna go through, 15, 20, I'm going like through his space kind of.
Trevor: ah And i will have my familiar like fly, ooh wait, can he even, hold up. if i Oh yeah, he can get there for sure. All right, yeah, he'll the familiar will fly, he'll do like a boom and then back out.
The Blade's Edge: like to imagine you going through Bash's space, by the way, is like running up to Bash and then going like doing like a spin move, going back to back to get to the other side of him.
Trevor: Ooh, some like Capoeira vibes.
Kyle: Ooh.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: That's fucking sick, yeah.
Kyle: We fire.
Trevor: I like that.
The Blade's Edge: Coming around the other side of him when you get to the other side of him, that's when you swing.
Trevor: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck yeah, dig that. um Okay, so Bird flies 15 and then 30 back over here. He does like a swoop, um giving me the help action on the first one.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Trevor: So this first one will be, I'll do the booming blade with a node.g.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. He has flyby, so no opportunity attacks.
Trevor: dutch
The Blade's Edge: 19 is pizza.
Trevor: Oh, 19 fucking barely.
Kyle: Nice. Huge.
The Blade's Edge: Pizza, that is a hit.
Kyle Beams: We like Boofing Blade?
Kyle: Fuck them up union style.
Trevor: Huge.
The Blade's Edge: Yo, josh.
Trevor: All right, that'll be fucking 18 plus 4 plus
Trevor: think. plus two to eight
The Blade's Edge: So that's that's yeah I think it's it's at nine, right?
Kyle: Damn.
Trevor: but think
The Blade's Edge: So it's 12 plus nine is 21. OK, nice.
Trevor: Oh, yeah, it just rolled it all for me. Nice, nice. i only saw the one roll, but yes. Perfect.
The Blade's Edge: but
Trevor: Boofing blade.
The Blade's Edge: Boothin blade actually happens.
Trevor: ah wait.
The Blade's Edge: ah Thunderous. happens around and when that thunder happens you see off in the distance a ah bit of lightning and I think it maybe strikes it strikes the ground ah right next to Valentine and Stal the Doc and Philip and Sila the lightning striking the ground okay
Trevor: Whoops.
Trevor: Sick. Fucking tight. um And then one more attack with the other node.ge. Regular roll. Base a miss.
The Blade's Edge: Second one misses. um And is that your turn?
Trevor: Move right there.
Trevor: ah Yep.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. um All right. The bottom tentacle ah with the... ah Pierced by the... staff reels back and the staff lights up and as the tentacle whips your direction it once again does not hit you but shooting from the staff at you Anabi is this orb and as the orb comes towards comes towards you it is just a roll to hit let's go ahead and see 19
Trevor: Oh, okay. I
Kyle Beams: Big money, big money, no Amis.
Trevor: will shield. Nice.
The Blade's Edge: nineteen
Trevor: i will shield
The Blade's Edge: Okay, you shield, and this wave of psychic energy is ah rend asunder by your shield, and that is its turn.
Trevor: noise
The Blade's Edge: um
Kyle Beams: Parry this, idiot.
The Blade's Edge: Yes, and then can I find a good... me see something right here. Nor, I can't, so I am going to draw it in
Trevor: har
The Blade's Edge: That is where the lightning struck.
Trevor: Hmm.
The Blade's Edge: Impact zone. Right there. Alright, top of the next round. um This other tentacle is going to...
The Blade's Edge: um It is going to now turn. and it is going to whip. It is going to whip towards Stalvodok.
The Blade's Edge: And as it does, the ah pages in the book once again light up. It stops short, and the water whipping off of it turns into shards of acid.
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: And that is 29 to hit.
Kyle Beams: That's going to hit.
The Blade's Edge: And stall the dock. You take 14 piercing and 11 acid.
Kyle Beams: Okay. 25 damage.
Trevor: Thank you.
Kyle Beams: Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. ouch
The Blade's Edge: D'Saun, roll me a d20 at the start of your turn.
Vesz'rak: Hello. Still... D20. 16.
The Blade's Edge: That's how many feet you are underwater. As you come out of your stunned condition, you are 16 feet underwater.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
Kyle Beams: Conveniently 16 as well.
Kyle Beams: And you have half movement.
Vesz'rak: Okay. I'm swimming up. I'm dashing, swimming... Okay.
The Blade's Edge: If you if you s swim up using all your movement, you'll be exactly where your token is, but you will crest the water.
Vesz'rak: okay
The Blade's Edge: So you won't be drowning anymore.
Vesz'rak: Won't be drowning, so i'm going to use all my movement. Swim up. And is the tentacle still within striking distance?
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
The Blade's Edge: Yes, it's it's whipping around down here. As you, by the way, as you sunk down,
Vesz'rak: Uh-huh.
The Blade's Edge: um you ah you saw something underwater. i want you to roll me an intelligence check. Here's what I want you to do.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: We're going to use some some very fun a game that I've wanted to run for my friends for a long time called Cthulhu Rules.
Vesz'rak: Oh, shit.
The Blade's Edge: Here's what we're going to do.
Trevor: I'm sorry.
The Blade's Edge: what what is your intelligence What is your intelligence score?
Vesz'rak: Zero. Plus zero?
The Blade's Edge: but's What's the score?
Vesz'rak: It's ten. Ten.
The Blade's Edge: 10.
Vesz'rak: It's ten.
The Blade's Edge: So 10 times 5 is 50. So you're going to roll me a D100.
Vesz'rak: So true. Uh-huh.
The Blade's Edge: And under 50 is a success, which means you understand what you saw when you were under the water.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: You want to fail this.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: You do not want your mind to comprehend what you saw under the water. So wal while under you want to roll over 50.
Vesz'rak: Now's my now is my time to shut. hey Hey, look, hey, look.
Kyle: that
Kyle Beams: Now's my time to shine.
The Blade's Edge: you want to roll over a fifty
Kyle Beams: If he rolls a nat 100, uh... 8!
Vesz'rak: If you ever needed someone to fail a role in your life, you call a lifeline. That lifeline is me. d one hundred That's an eight.
Kyle Beams: eight
Kyle: Oh my god!
Vesz'rak: yeah
Kyle: You failed that as fuck!
Kyle Beams: Holy shit.
Trevor: That's so funny.
Kyle Beams: Absolutely fucking crushed it.
Trevor: Holy shit.
Vesz'rak: Look, there's only a few promises that I can make in this life and the next.
The Blade's Edge: Um,
Vesz'rak: is that If you need me to fail, save!
Kyle Beams: Death, taxes, and 10th percentile rolls from Tommy.
The Blade's Edge: We're going we're going firstly, I'll be very, I'll be very ah concrete with what I say here.
Trevor: holy shit
The Blade's Edge: Each time we're going to roll these, maybe throughout the entire campaign, I'm going to go up a table in the madness tables.
Vesz'rak: Awesome.
The Blade's Edge: You're going roll me a short-term madness. This will only last 10 minutes, but I need you to roll me a, uh, a D.
Vesz'rak: Okay. But it'll feel like a lifetime.
Kyle Beams: All you do is turn back into Vezrak for 10 minutes.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, i am now and I am now a wizard.
Kyle Beams: Cause that was the madness.
Vesz'rak: ah Yes, what what do you need me to roll?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Roll me a D 100.
Vesz'rak: Okay, do I want to fail? This is another one. I need to fail it again All
The Blade's Edge: This will just depend on what short-term madness you acquire.
Vesz'rak: right, 99.
Kyle: Oh my god.
The Blade's Edge: Is it really a 99?
Trevor: That's fucking insane.
Vesz'rak: Yes, really, 99.
Kyle Beams: Oh my
Kyle: oh What in the world?
Kyle Beams: lord
Kyle: and the world
The Blade's Edge: Okay, we are going to... We are going...
Vesz'rak: God has blessed me with a very particular set of skills.
The Blade's Edge: We're going to roll... I'm going to roll this over for the end of combat.
Trevor: oh Oh my god.
The Blade's Edge: Um...
Kyle: Did he max out the madness table? It's off the charts.
The Blade's Edge: Uh, you did roll...
Vesz'rak: but
The Blade's Edge: That is the worst thing that happens. Which is why... Which is why I'm going to... I'm pushing to the end of the combat. Because this is more this is more of a narrative thing than it is... I'm not trying to have this affect the round of combat.
Vesz'rak: God, I'm so good at Dungeons & Dragons. am I winning, Brian?
Kyle: Insane.
Vesz'rak: Am I doing anything?
Kyle Beams: ah Yo, win in, son.
Vesz'rak: Am I winning? Am I winning?
Trevor: yeah You win it, son.
The Blade's Edge: I've just DM'd you what happens at the end of combat.
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: This is not something that Dasan knows. And this is something that I will let you, Tommy... Uh... ah narrate one when combat ends, ah but you see something underwater that is so alien and so foreign ah that your mind does not want to comprehend what you've seen, ah but what you see is ah disgusting and unfathomable and very alien to your mind's
Kyle: come to terms with?
Vesz'rak: Sure, absolutely.
Kyle Beams: And gross. Yeah.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, mid, okay, so and back to our regular scheduling program.
Kyle Beams: Yucky. Good. Yucky vibes.
Trevor: Super ewey.
The Blade's Edge: And.
Vesz'rak: I'm swinging. I'm throwing up, but I am swinging.
The Blade's Edge: Yes, yes, swing away, swing away.
Vesz'rak: Swing.
Kyle: Swing set.
The Blade's Edge: but twelve A 12 will miss. 17
Vesz'rak: ah hey you got another delivery? It's at the door. It's another swing.
The Blade's Edge: miss.
Kyle: swings it
Vesz'rak: That's 17.
The Blade's Edge: andino mess
Vesz'rak: And here I am.
The Blade's Edge: okay
Vesz'rak: Hey, back to you, Doc. Stolva, Doc.
The Blade's Edge: You have you have ah crest the water.
Trevor: you
The Blade's Edge: Your eyes are maybe a bit more wide than they would be as you've just seen something that's weighing heavily on your mind.
Kyle Beams: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: You swing twice and miss twice, unable to comprehend what exactly the fuck is going on under there. At the end of your turn, it will use a legendary action. And the one to the south bash will do the exact same thing it just tried to do to Anabi as the staff in it lights up and it whips towards you. An orb of psychic energy gets thrown at you, bash.
The Blade's Edge: And that's 19 to hit.
Kyle: um You are rolling with advantage as well.
The Blade's Edge: Oh, nice. Is that for all attacks or just melee attacks? cause This is not a melee attack.
Kyle: Oh, um... This is for...
The Blade's Edge: Go ahead and read Reckless.
Kyle: It just says... It just says attack rolls.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. At advantage, I roll a 25. You take points of psychic damage.
Kyle: Oh, cool. that's That's what I was hoping you would do.
The Blade's Edge: As you're not have, your brain starts conceiving, is thrown through space and time, and you see tentacles eating worlds, ah not only ripping people apart, but eating worlds and acquiring knowledge.
The Blade's Edge: Whatever beast this is wants knowledge. And as it you see it searching through your mind as you take 26 psychic damage, flipping through the pages of your life and instantly learning everything about you, Bash,
Kyle: ah
The Blade's Edge: That is the legendary action.
Kyle: wow
The Blade's Edge: Stall the dock. You are up.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, I'm looking at this tentacle um to the north, the one that Dasan is underneath, and I notice it's got that spell book lodged within it. And so I take aim with my turret, and as a bonus action, I would make a ranged spell attack.
Kyle Beams: Come on, baby.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. 20 hits.
Kyle Beams: That's a 20 to hit. And we're going to be doing, um let's see, features and traits. It's 2d8 damage. And if Just show up, please.
Kyle Beams: to 2d8.
Kyle Beams: oh
Kyle Beams: It's going to deal 13 force damage.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, 13 force damage. Boom! This thing takes that.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, and ignore that dexterity save.
The Blade's Edge: it's ah good. that yeah That top one's looking pretty hard. the top one's looking pretty pretty hurt. Okay.
Kyle Beams: Okay, and then i am going to... take an arrow from my back and put it on my arm. Like I'm going to be using it as like a crossbow, but instead I'm going to cast the spell catapult and launch this arrow to try to dislodge this thing.
The Blade's Edge: okay
Kyle Beams: So the tentacle needs to make 16 deck save.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. It has a plus four, but it has disadvantage as it is just in the water. It's rooted in place. It's not trying to to dodge. There are no eyes on these tentacles. So whatever is controlling these things cannot see that you're doing that. So here's the disadvantage. That's an 11. Nice.
Kyle Beams: Okay, that fails, so it takes 11 bludgeoning damage.
The Blade's Edge: nice
Kyle Beams: um And on a failed save, 3d8 bludgeoning, and then that's the force damage from before, so total of 24 damage.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. 24 damage.
Vesz'rak: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: um I realize we but in the order we've been going a little mixed up here, but that's okay.
Trevor: far.
The Blade's Edge: um But Bash, before your turn, it's going to take another legendary action. As I didn't use... The thing I did the first round on Tommy cost all three of my actions, but this round I've not done that. I'm using the one...
The Blade's Edge: Legendary action cost, so I get to do it three times. So, at the end of the stall a doc's turn, that same tentacle to the south wheels back, the staff lights up, and it will throw another orb at...
Kyle: Oh
The Blade's Edge: Let's see here. Everybody roll me d20. Low roll short stick gets a psychic orb thrown at them.
Kyle Beams: E20, show me pit of salad.
Kyle Beams: Oh, and we all wanted to.
Vesz'rak: Oh,
The Blade's Edge: Wow, you all did not want to get hit.
Kyle: ah
Trevor: Holy. the
Kyle: ah
Vesz'rak: ah
The Blade's Edge: um And Nabi, is your shield still up?
Trevor: Shield's still up.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, so this is just a straight roll. It has plus 13, but your AC is... 20,
Trevor: Fucking a million, dude.
The Blade's Edge: is it a 21 right now?
Trevor: No,
Kyle: It's whatever you roll plus 13.
Trevor: twenty four
Kyle: Yeah, I'm gonna swang
The Blade's Edge: 24. And with a 21, it misses.
Trevor: i
The Blade's Edge: It's wasting its secondary, second legendary action.
Kyle Beams: Oh.
The Blade's Edge: Bash, you're up. This thing looks really hurt. The book is lodged in it. You get the sense that you swing at this thing, you're going to kill it.
Kyle: on him. Okay, when I sw-
The Blade's Edge: Okay, the book it looks like the book book's going to fall in the water.
Kyle: sw on them
Kyle: okay ah when i
Trevor: What if...
Vesz'rak: I got it.
Kyle: when i so
Vesz'rak: I got it. I got it.
Kyle: is Is it within like arm's reach when I swing at it?
The Blade's Edge: No. No.
Trevor: Could I...
The Blade's Edge: It's pretty high up on on the lash.
Trevor: it Can we...
The Blade's Edge: I mean, I'll even draw on the token. Like, like maybe it's like up here. you go. You can see that. I drew on the token.
The Blade's Edge: You can see that, right?
Kyle: yeah, I can.
The Blade's Edge: ah towards Towards the top, that's like where the book is lodged in. Almost as if like the tentacle is grafted around the book.
Trevor: um can i can we Can we be speaking?
Kyle: Talk to me.
Trevor: that do it can i like Could Anabi say something?
The Blade's Edge: Sure, yeah. You guys you guys can you guys are strategizing. it's It's moving quick, but you guys can definitely strategize.
Trevor: Could I say i have my...
Kyle: dr
Trevor: I would use my action on my turn if you want to try and secure the book. I could have ah my familiar flaw. Oh, fuck no. Just kidding.
Trevor: Well, yeah. I guess it could it could dash maybe. um oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It could dash and get to it. ah And when it gets the book, I could then vortex warp it straight to, let me make sure it's within 90 feet of me. It is. And maybe make sure.
Kyle: Well, I do have a question. um When I attack this tentacle, is me like incapacitating it, is it just me like cutting the tip off?
Trevor: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: you won't be able to reach the tip from where you are the tip's all the way up in the air if you down it to zero basically what's going to happen is the book's just going to go in the water so you guys will just have to find it but I'm just yeah
Kyle: But but like if i if I swing, that's me. like I'll be able to hit it. I'll be able to touch it, right?
The Blade's Edge: not the book no
Vesz'rak: ah Look, you guys, I'm right here.
Kyle: Okay, here's here's
The Blade's Edge: you're You're towards the base, if you're looking at this token. it's hard for some of our viewers to just to to see, but basically, let's say this this this thing is is like 60 feet tall, but it's just writhing around.
The Blade's Edge: So the books at like the tip of this 60-foot thing, you've been attacking the base.
Kyle: Oh, oh, I've been attacking the base.
The Blade's Edge: Just of what you can see, yeah. ah And you can you can even tell from Dasan's wide eyes that ah whatever he saw underwater is massive.
Kyle: Um,
The Blade's Edge: So this is... This is but a fraction of the length of the tentacle. And even if you bring it to zero, you're not chopping the tentacle off. You're basically rendering it incapacitated for this combat.
Trevor: Oh, shit, whoops. Okay.
The Blade's Edge: I mean, yeah, stuff that you wouldn't really know, that Bash wouldn't really know, that I'm just sort of telling you.
Kyle: So could I could i swing and then as I'm swinging to hit it, grab onto the tentacle so I'd have it like, and then I can just like pull it towards me basically?
The Blade's Edge: Just if you want to plan.
The Blade's Edge: I will, I'll tell you this. I've given you more than information than I even think you'd know in at this point. And you can do with that information what you'd like. So the choice of what to do next is your call.
Trevor: I think what Anabi would be yelling out is if you wanted to hold your action so it's instant, like hold your swings for my turn, i could use my action to send the bird then you hit it.
Trevor: That way the bird can get it as the bird...
Kyle: Just catch it like if it's falling.
Trevor: Or even just like as the book hits the water, so it's not like... you know if a book is... not completely like sopping wet. It'll float for a second, I assume, before it like soaks up enough water to sink.
Trevor: So in that time, the bird could grab the book with its beak and then knobby could vortex warp it while it grabs the book just up to the shore. I could get the bird just just up to the shore.
Kyle: Yeah, I mean, that sounds better than whatever I was trying to do, to be honest.
Kyle Beams: I'm going to chop it out.
Trevor: It's an, and I don't, I honestly have no idea if it's better or not. It's just an option for you. If you want to try something like that, I'm down. I could use my action doing that. Totally your call.
Kyle: Yeah, do you... When is your turn?
Trevor: Uh, stall the docs, I think is that who's next?
Kyle: Yeah, I think...
The Blade's Edge: ah here here He already went.
Kyle: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: We've gone out of order. So it's Bash, then, and Navi.
Trevor: Oh, so it's fucking literally right now.
Kyle: yeah
Trevor: We could like do this together if you want. Like fucking right now.
Kyle: Let's do it.
Trevor: I was saying wait just because I thought there was a somebody between us.
Kyle Beams: ashrow so
Trevor: But yeah, can we attempt that?
Kyle: Sure.
Trevor: Should we try it?
Kyle: going to hold my action and then whenever I get on your call,
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Trevor: Sure.
The Blade's Edge: So what action are you holding, Bash?
Trevor: I'll.
Kyle: my attack.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. So you're going to attack twice and you're holding it for Inabi's turn, which is right now.
Trevor: but
The Blade's Edge: so
Trevor: And mine is essentially like tell the bird, which is right now, uh, beeline for, uh, the base of the water, uh, where the book is essentially.
Trevor: Um, And so as soon as the bird starts flying, which would be right now, I would tell it to do that immediately. And then I would essentially be holding, Anabi is now holding his action to cast a vortex warp on the bird as soon as the bird has the book in its beak.
Trevor: And I would just, forward to i would I'm going to use my movement to like get here-ish so I can make sure. Actually, no, instead of moving there, I would move to this side.
Trevor: of bash so I can when I vortex work the bird oh wow yeah that's fucking I can get i can vortex it as close as I can to Valentine
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Sounds like a good plan.
Trevor: that's the plan it starts moving yeah so as soon as it starts moving yeah it'll go five and then boom ah and now the birds just got an eye on the fucking eye on the book
The Blade's Edge: ah so yeah So bird moves first. Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle: Now I'm... I'm swinging.
Trevor: Yeah, swing away.
The Blade's Edge: So got a hit.
Kyle: Alright, this is going to be another reckless attack.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Okay.
Kyle: Oh. We have 24 to hit, going to roll for the Natty 20.
Trevor: Let's go.
Kyle: It's not. It's 25.
Kyle Beams: Ooh.
Kyle: twenty five
Kyle Beams: Rolling hot, though.
The Blade's Edge: 25 hits.
Kyle Beams: Ch-chug, ch-chug.
Kyle: For 12 plus 9 maybe a 10 one on the die unfortunately and damage
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Alright, it's still up, but it's you hear you all hear a sort of muffled boom from underneath the water as if one more hit, probably no matter no matter the damage, is going to do it.
Kyle: Well, I'm gonna blow it out of the goddamn
Trevor: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: Well, that's definitely going to hit, but see if you create it just for...
Trevor: Fuck yeah.
The Blade's Edge: All right, as you chop this thing, it begins to retract. It just begins to be pulled underwater from whatever creature ah has decided, that's enough.
The Blade's Edge: I'm not having this anymore with this thing.
Vesz'rak: Mm-hmm.
The Blade's Edge: And as it does, the book dislodges and begins to fall to the water.
Trevor: nice
The Blade's Edge: And be.
Kyle Beams: contingencies have been planned for
Trevor: fuck yeah That's where it's at. So it's going to go. Yeah, it's going to use it's going to dash so can use so can get there. ah That was 50.
Trevor: It had used five. So 55. It gets there and tries. yeah it would just wait for the book to hit the water. And as soon as it hits the water and like stabilizes for a second, it would grab the.
Kyle: Can it not catch the water? Can it not catch the water?
Trevor: ah
Kyle: Oh my god, I can't talk. Can it not catch the book?
Trevor: It probably can, but i think it it it it's I think it's thinking that it'd be easier to rather than... I mean, maybe it could catch it in the air, but I think if it meets it on the water, it would have...
Kyle Beams: Less risky.
Trevor: Yeah, it it has like more time to... like I can fit this book in my mouth while it's floating here, not like try and catch it and then drop it while I'm...
Kyle: For sure.
The Blade's Edge: Cool.
Kyle: For sure.
The Blade's Edge: Well, here's what I'm going to do where it's D and D.
Trevor: You know?
The Blade's Edge: So it's going to be role-based. If it's trying to catch the book, it's going to make a dexterity saving throw.
Trevor: Okay.
Trevor: So it's not.
The Blade's Edge: d
Trevor: It's just waiting until it hits the water.
The Blade's Edge: Sure.
Trevor: That...
The Blade's Edge: I'm just giving you the options of if it wanted to do that, the DC for that will be, will be a 12.
Trevor: oh Oh, I see. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The Blade's Edge: And if it wants to grab the book and take it up, that'll be an athletics or acrobatics check DC eight.
Trevor: Okay.
Trevor: Okay. Yeah, we'll go for the... Hang on let me
The Blade's Edge: ah It's not a heavy book, but it is a big fat tome. And this is just a owl trying to pick up a big fat tome in its beak.
Kyle: You have
Trevor: on, let What is... You said athletics or...
The Blade's Edge: Or acrobatics, which is basically for a fine familiar it is probably just your strength or your dexterity.
Trevor: Dex, which is a plus one. Oh shit, seven.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle: inspo?
Trevor: Oh wait, can I use my inspiration?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: Fuck yeah.
The Blade's Edge: One short. just need an eight.
Trevor: Dex, nice, 17. I still
Kyle: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: 17, your owl.
Vesz'rak: Got him.
The Blade's Edge: Was your owl the name, by the way? Okay, cool.
Trevor: i still haven't named him yet.
The Blade's Edge: Your owl grabs the book.
Kyle: Chris.
Trevor: Gotta get to know
The Blade's Edge: Chris the owl.
Trevor: Chris. Yeah, we'll call him.
The Blade's Edge: ah Yeah,
Trevor: Yeah, that's a very Steve name.
The Blade's Edge: Chris.
Trevor: I like that.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: um And then, yeah, as soon as it's got the book in its mouth, I will cast a vortex warp at motherfucking... Can do that?
Trevor: A second level vortex warp.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. All right,
Trevor: Send it.
Trevor: Yeah, fucking right there. That's perfect.
The Blade's Edge: right is that your turn?
Trevor: And then the bird has five feet of movement, so it'll get it five. It'll just get the book five feet closer to the Valentine if it can, just so can just reach. Oh, wait, no. Valentine's fucking right here.
Trevor: Who's out?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Trevor: was looking at fucking the goat. Of course I was. It's good.
Vesz'rak: that's an animal's trap That's an animal.
Trevor: yeahs Yeah, that's. it it's just
Vesz'rak: an animal. That's a picture it's a picture of a goat.
Trevor: the
Trevor: Yeah, we're good. That's perfect.
The Blade's Edge: Alright, and is that your turn?
Vesz'rak: cor
Trevor: Uh, actually, actually, yeah, that's my turn. going to with my movement. I'm just going to fucking scoot like and spread out a little bit. going to get over here. Yep.
Trevor: We're good.
Vesz'rak: corporate needs you to find the difference between both of these pictures. It's literally a human male and a goat.
The Blade's Edge: Um...
Kyle Beams: They're the same picture.
Trevor: I don't know.
Vesz'rak: They're the same picture.
Trevor: It's the same picture.
The Blade's Edge: On Valentine's turn, you have vortex to warp the book directly into the sort of impact area that the lightning just struck. And as Valentine reaches down into this impact area and he grabs the book, you all hear massive go
The Blade's Edge: the entire area lit up.
The Blade's Edge: all of you blinded for a second. And as he holds the book in his hand, you now see he looks a little older. Looks like maybe in his fifties. The
Kyle Beams: Well, well.
The Blade's Edge: brown hair on his head has grown slightly longer down to his shoulders he has a big sort of ah neapolitan beard it's sort of it's brown but there's a little red in there and then there's a lot of gray as he as he holds the book in his hand and he says ah
Vesz'rak: You just aged him.
Kyle Beams: There's some strawberry.
The Blade's Edge: started to remember i've started to remember i need my staff i need my staff
Kyle: He's starting to believe.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, let's get his staff.
The Blade's Edge: Ridley, Ridley, Ridley Valentine.
Kyle: Ridley.
Vesz'rak: I'll get the staff!
The Blade's Edge: I, I served, I served Morden, Mordenkainen and one other.
Trevor: Blah blah blah blah
The Blade's Edge: Ridley, Valentine.
Kyle Beams: Ridley Valentine.
The Blade's Edge: The book. He flips the book open to a certain page and says, yes, that's right, my power. And he looks at the ah the um ah tentacle down here.
The Blade's Edge: And as he does, he begins speaking, another flash of lightning comes down and strikes him and strikes the book and then shoots out from the book at this tentacle, who will now make a deck save at disadvantage.
Kyle Beams: Oh, he's a conduit.
The Blade's Edge: uh it's plus four uh that is a failure uh as it takes a full lightning bolt damage so 8d6 lightning
Kyle Beams: Fuck yeah.
The Blade's Edge: uh all right 29 points of damage to the previously untouched bottom tentacle
Trevor: Thank you.
Kyle Beams: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: That will be Ridley Valentine's turn as he grew a little bit older.
Vesz'rak: ah I'm coming for that bottom.
The Blade's Edge: Pieces of his mind coming back, ah his knowledge coming back, his power coming back, as well as you're starting to see his age um coming back.
Kyle: ah
The Blade's Edge: He is not this youthful this youthful man. um As the lightning strikes this thing for 29 damage, it will take its last legendary action before its turn to make one more psychic orb attack.
The Blade's Edge: And this will be at Bash.
Kyle: Man, come on.
Vesz'rak: yeah take Yeah, take out the green big green giant.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, well, you did just, you upset the thing underneath the...
Kyle: a
Kyle: Well, he was being mean to me.
The Blade's Edge: That one. That one.
Kyle: um And I will use a luck point because he would have had advantage.
The Blade's Edge: It doesn't...
Kyle: I'm going to use it to impose disadvantage to keep that nat one.
The Blade's Edge: nice so we'll just take that nat one the psychic orb misses it is its turn it will then uh it's thrashing about and it will thrash over towards you in abi as you were also helped take the book um it will make a lashing maw attack as the ah comes at you and this spec, the staff lights up this spectral maw made of shards of acid chomps on your location.
The Blade's Edge: um
Trevor: Chomperoni.
The Blade's Edge: Only a 15.
Trevor: Fuck yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Fucking misses. ah Start of the next round. Just saw on you're up swimming.
Vesz'rak: Swimming. Here we go.
The Blade's Edge: Swimming.
Vesz'rak: I'm going to swim towards the tentacle.
Kyle Beams: Let's go. Surely nothing could go wrong.
Vesz'rak: I'm going to Misty Step, bonus action, Misty Step up again.
The Blade's Edge: Onto it.
Vesz'rak: On to it again.
The Blade's Edge: Whatever check you want, the DC's 21.
Vesz'rak: Athletics.
The Blade's Edge: You pick whatever's best for you.
Vesz'rak: Look, surely you can't fail it two times in a row. Watch this.
The Blade's Edge: That's a natural one.
Trevor: Holy shit, dude.
The Blade's Edge: That's crazy.
Kyle Beams: I love you, Tommy.
Kyle: Oh, my God, man.
Trevor: That's insane.
Kyle Beams: I love you.
The Blade's Edge: um
Kyle Beams: Never change.
The Blade's Edge: ah How high up were you trying to... Let's see I'm onto it.
Vesz'rak: As high as I could go. 30 feet.
The Blade's Edge: 30 feet.
Vesz'rak: yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, yeah as you fall, you hit the water, ah sort of belly flop backwards. You'll take half this falling damage as you hit the water.
Vesz'rak: ah
The Blade's Edge: ah You'll take 7 points of falling damage.
Vesz'rak: right ah
The Blade's Edge: As you hit the water, and hey, hitting water from high heights still hurts. Especially...
Vesz'rak: it's like it's like not even It's like not even funny anymore because it's now it's like expected, you know? It's like...
Kyle Beams: Now we're just punching the guy that's down.
Vesz'rak: yeah
Kyle: Yeah, that's rough.
Vesz'rak: anywaym Anyway, I'm swinging.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: First attack, 27.
Kyle Beams: Anyway, here's Wonderwall.
The Blade's Edge: 27 does hits with the Sunsword. 12 will miss.
Vesz'rak: one-handed, 10 damage.
The Blade's Edge: it's It's actually only 8 because that extra 2 is against undead targets.
Vesz'rak: Oh, sorry, sorry. Yeah, 8, sorry.
The Blade's Edge: It's okay.
Vesz'rak: and And that...
The Blade's Edge: and You can smite him if you want.
Vesz'rak: Huh?
The Blade's Edge: You can smite.
Vesz'rak: Yeah. You know what? Hey, Brian, while I'm we'll do it.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, get a win in, you know?
Vesz'rak: We'll smite
The Blade's Edge: um um Let's mix a win in.
Trevor: It's an easy dub.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: but that look
Trevor: but Grab that.
Kyle Beams: 4 damage smite.
The Blade's Edge: let's mix the win in
Vesz'rak: him. Hey, hey, hey, hey, take that extra four and that's for your, you know, just get out, out of here.
Kyle Beams: 4 damage smite.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, honestly, yeah, let's let's take a little extra win while we're at it, you know, why not?
Vesz'rak: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So.
The Blade's Edge: All right, you you attack the the tentacle coming out of the water. At the end of your turn, it will make a psychic orb attack on Stalvodok.
Kyle Beams: Yeah. Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: but push push The orb inside thrown at you. Another nat one. It's second nat one.
Vesz'rak: lot they
Kyle Beams: Fantastic. Okay.
Vesz'rak: I've infected something. infecting it.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it is.
Vesz'rak: So it sort of infected the tentacle in that one's.
The Blade's Edge: um Okay.
The Blade's Edge: ah That is its legendary action. Just if we're going...
The Blade's Edge: Let's just keep it in the order we've been doing. So, stall the dock, you're then bash Nanabi.
Kyle Beams: okay
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle Beams: So seeing Dasan floundering in the water, I have an idea. and this is the edge of the cliff, right?
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle Beams: Okay, so I'm going to move to the edge of the cliff with my movement.
Vesz'rak: I'm floundering.
Kyle Beams: And then I'm going to click my boots of the winding path.
Vesz'rak: I'm a swimming grace for you.
Kyle Beams: um And with my artificer infusion, i can teleport up to 15 feet as a bonus action.
The Blade's Edge: Love that.
Kyle Beams: This...
The Blade's Edge: As long as it's somewhere you've been before on your turn. So it is a space you've previously occupied.
Kyle Beams: this Oh, okay. ah
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: Well, that changes that. Let me...
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it's ah it it is good, but it's good to sort of like get somewhere and then you go back 15 feet.
Kyle Beams: I see. So it's not a getting somewhere
The Blade's Edge: No, it is it getting back?
Kyle Beams: Then...
The Blade's Edge: run up, hit somebody, boots the winding path, you get back so you don't have just ah they don't have an opportunity to attack on you.
Kyle Beams: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: There we go. Yeah, I get the name now. um So I'm going to jump...
The Blade's Edge: Okay. You're jumping and attacking this thing?
Kyle Beams: I'm jumping and casting a spell.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: Taking one out of my book.
Kyle Beams: I'm jumping and let's see, my jump distance is what? My strength score with a running start.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you can you can jump in and and reach the thing.
Kyle Beams: Okay, I'm gonna try to be here and I'm casting rope trick.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Trevor: o
The Blade's Edge: Go ahead and let the people know what that does.
Kyle Beams: So jump, i jump into the air, press my hands together and out flows long length of rope that seems to keep going and going and going until it reaches about 60 feet.
Kyle Beams: And up high at the top is a shimmer of what looks to be like a portal of extra dimensional space. um And i think that the rope should drop down into the water, right?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah.
Kyle Beams: um So then that is my action, my bonus action, my movement. And I'm basically just trying to hang on to this rope um right above Dessant.
The Blade's Edge: Sure, yeah. You and Dasan now have a rope to climb into an extra-dimensional space, should you choose.
Vesz'rak: Perfect.
The Blade's Edge: um And at the end of your turn, we'll use a Psychic Orb attack on Dasan.
Vesz'rak: Classic.
The Blade's Edge: as we're We're spreading these around. I've rolled two nat ones in a row. Will I roll a natural 20 on you? 27.
The Blade's Edge: Dasan,
Vesz'rak: kids like i don't know why you got to say it like that.
The Blade's Edge: you take 18 points of Psychic damage.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, that'll do it. Yeah, that'll do it.
Trevor: Yeah, I think that'll do it.
Vesz'rak: Okay, I haven't really heard.
The Blade's Edge: Okay, that's its its turn. Bash, you're up.
Trevor: He's blacking out.
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
Trevor: We've got to get him out of the water.
Kyle: Um...
The Blade's Edge: You're up, and this guy, this time, you would have to get into the water to attack this thing.
Kyle: Yeah, that's uh...
The Blade's Edge: Unless you got down here. Unless you traveled down here, you could ah further into the town.
Kyle: That's Gnarls Barkley. Oh, um, does my... Did my, um... Did my axe effect activate? Like, I didn't kill the creature?
The Blade's Edge: Oh, yes, yes. You get the effects of killing a creature, yeah.
Kyle: Okay, so let me roll that.
The Blade's Edge: Defeating this thing's tentacles are the equivalent of killing them.
Kyle: Okay, so I got 8 temp HP. Put that there. Oh my god, this map is so big, dude.
The Blade's Edge: Big map, big lake!
Kyle: i don't i think um I think I'm low-key a little useless this round. I mean, I guess I can start making my way downtown. What's my movement?
The Blade's Edge: Take your way. You could throw something if you have something to throw. Or you could dash.
Kyle: Yeah, going dash. Okay, walking speed I'm going to go 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. Yep.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, what's your walk?
Kyle: And then I'm going to dash.
The Blade's Edge: It could be 40 feet, probably.
Kyle: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. And then could make it this like creek? Yes, then 5, 10,
Kyle: i hor twenty five and then could i make it across as like creek like
The Blade's Edge: Yes, yeah. Once you're in the town, it's sort of all easily traversable.
Kyle: s i So this would be, 40 feet right here.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle: And then that's that's just my turn.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. All right, Bash, you get to there. Anabi, you're up.
Trevor: If I'm looking at Dishon, are you fucked up? Are you looking like you might pass out in the water kind of vibe? Or like if you get touched again, you might pass out?
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm not not doing good.
Trevor: or Okay, I'm going to 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. i can't I can't heal. I don't think I have any like healing or anything, but I feel like if you go out in the water, that's super sketch. So I'm going to try and just get you out of the water.
Trevor: ah And I'm going to do a
Trevor: I'm gonna do, probably yeah, just another vortex warp, I think. um Last,
Vesz'rak: Yeah. We got Vortex Warp Mania this session. Didn't know we had it until this session.
Trevor: dude, it's yeah yeah, yeah, this is crazy.
Vesz'rak: Now we're using it five times.
Kyle Beams: Dude, it feels good.
Trevor: ah Yeah, ah the last second level spell slot, and I will vortex warp him. up onto let me make sure I can reach up there.
Trevor: Yeah, just right up next to Valentine.
The Blade's Edge: All right.
Vesz'rak: oh Does that happen?
Trevor: Yep, yeah, yeah, I i send that off.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. yeah
Vesz'rak: Oh, hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: As long as you're a willing.
Vesz'rak: yeah i am guy Get me out.
Trevor: get you Yeah, if you want to do that, I would. Okay, cool.
Vesz'rak: that's ah That's all.
Kyle Beams: ah Get me out of here.
Vesz'rak: Get me out.
Kyle Beams: Damn.
Vesz'rak: Look, I've gambled.
Trevor: Get me out of here.
Kyle Beams: My get him out strategy didn't...
Vesz'rak: I drove to the casino. I gambled. I've lost. I've lost. Now get me home.
Trevor: can be out here.
Kyle Beams: Can't afford the Uber.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The Blade's Edge: um All right. ah That happens. Anything else in Nabi?
Trevor: Uh, no, let's see, but I don't think I have any bonus actions worth, uh, well, actually, should we get fucking a little squirrely? Wait, I don't know if I have enough.
Trevor: No, I can't, unfortunately. Well, how much more was that?
The Blade's Edge: Once you hit the water, you'll have half movement because it'll be difficult terrain.
Trevor: Right. Do you remember how much? i Unfortunately, 5, 10, 15, 20. five ten fifteen twenty I think I probably moved like 20. That was probably 25 of my at least. Right. I don't think I have much movement left.
The Blade's Edge: Sure. Yeah, I believe you.
Trevor: twenty yeah ah If I have five feet left. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. This is something that I always fucking forget about with. a I have a little bit of extra movement. We'll say if that was.
Trevor: I think, uh, blade singing, I get my, I get an extra movement bonus too. Hang on. Just to make sure. Yep. It increases by 10 feet. So I have another like 10 ish feet. Can I, if I even use that, am I close enough?
Trevor: Do you want to mark? Can you mark on that tentacle where you think the staff might be?
The Blade's Edge: Sure, yeah, probably right around the same the same area, right there.
Trevor: Like on the, okay.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, towards the top of the tentacle, not towards the fat base, but towards the top tip.
Trevor: Fuck.
Trevor: Okay. Okay. I can't get there anyway. So I'll, I mean, I'll scoot up a little bit, but I, yeah, that's, that's my turn. and I can't, I can't reach it.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. At the end of your turn, it'll use its last legendary action as my cat jumps on my back. Crazy move. To kill...
Trevor: Hell yeah.
Vesz'rak: Let's see Wade's work plays out for him.
The Blade's Edge: two It'll cast Psychic Orb. It's last a thing at you. He's tugging on my neck, trying to choke me out right now. He's choking literally tugging on the back of my shirt, choking me.
Kyle Beams: Incredible.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, ah I'm going to need you to make a dexterity saving throw.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, he's...
Trevor: He's telling you not to use that last legendary action, dude.
The Blade's Edge: I think he's...
Kyle: Yeah.
Trevor: He's like, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Kyle: Like, don't do it!
Vesz'rak: row Roll for claw damage. Yeah, roll for claw damage.
The Blade's Edge: Alright, this is the last Psychic Orb one coming at you.
Trevor: that hits.
The Blade's Edge: 24. twenty four
Kyle Beams: Oh, great.
Trevor: Howie. that hits
The Blade's Edge: okay all right and abby you take 22 points of psychic damage um and then it is valentine's turn he flipping through the pages his beard still growing uh turning more gray his hair still growing turning more gray him growing like slightly more hunched flips through flips through flips through starts speaking in a language you don't know the coldness the snow coming down
Trevor: ah we
Vesz'rak: you
The Blade's Edge: ah coalesces together and forms a massive cone that shoots itself towards the ah tentacle as the tentacle has to make a con save of which it's pretty good it' a plus seven no disadvantage okay so it does save but it'll take half this cold damage which is uh it takes points of no not seventeen eighteen yeah seventeen 17 points of cold damage.
The Blade's Edge: It's almost bloodied, but not quite. That is Valentine's turn, as he is Ridley Valentine, um one of the stewards of Mordenkainen, he said.
The Blade's Edge: um It is now... The tentacles turn, and the tentacle will now swing down at Stalvadok and ah ah cast a spell, turning the water around you to acid-like ah shards that come and try to clamp you.
Kyle Beams: Yikes. I'm up in the air though, right? Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it doesn't matter.
Vesz'rak: he getting clamped.
Kyle Beams: You're going to clamp the robot?
The Blade's Edge: it's I mean, he can do it at any point. I'm just narrating. The water yeah comes up from the water. Woo! And sort of tries to clamp you.
Kyle Beams: Ah. Tries to bite me.
The Blade's Edge: And the water bites you for 16 piercing and 15 acid.
Kyle Beams: Oh, 31 damage.
Kyle: My lord
Kyle Beams: That is a chunker.
Trevor: Bye.
Kyle Beams: ah And it's almost my turn. Excellent.
The Blade's Edge: Alright, Dasan, you are up.
Vesz'rak: ah Still laying leisurely on the grass here.
The Blade's Edge: Wet. Covered in water.
Vesz'rak: Absolutely.
The Blade's Edge: Briny water. You've seen some shit.
Vesz'rak: I'm just going to, as an action, I'm going to just lay on hands myself for 25. 15. heal myself
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Yeah, that that leaves you with what? Five left? 15.
Vesz'rak: for 25. 34 HP. Get up.
The Blade's Edge: fifteen Nice. Okay.
Vesz'rak: Look over Valentine go... thirty four hp get up ah look over at valentine and go Get the staff. I'll get the staff.
The Blade's Edge: I'm starting to remember!
Vesz'rak: I'm jumping back in the water.
Trevor: work
The Blade's Edge: D'Saun!
Vesz'rak: I did.
Kyle Beams: No.
Vesz'rak: I did. lay on hands myself. I'm just jumping back.
Trevor: You son of a bitch.
Vesz'rak: I've got to get the staff. Jump back in the water.
Trevor: I'm never fucking casting spells on you again.
Vesz'rak: I'm getting the staff.
Kyle: Oh my god.
Kyle Beams: Bro.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, I'm just swimming.
Kyle Beams: Lay on hands yourself. Lay on hands yourself.
Vesz'rak: i did i did i
Trevor: motherfucker.

Kyle Beams: Incredible.
The Blade's Edge: Alright, jump back in the water.
Kyle: i'm gonna I'm gonna kill
Vesz'rak: jump back at the water we have the that
Trevor: I'm gonna fucking kill that guy.
Vesz'rak: yeah
The Blade's Edge: Alright, that is your turn?
Vesz'rak: yeah i'm justssuming it
The Blade's Edge: Alright, stalva doc.
Kyle Beams: I look down at Hassan.
Kyle: him. Darwin is loving this right now.
Kyle Beams: as he jumps back into the water and I'm like, I go, you stay, no following.
Trevor: Superman.
Vesz'rak: I can't hear you.
Kyle Beams: and
Vesz'rak: I'm underwater.
Kyle Beams: And an eye having been absolutely chunked to below 10 health, actually below five health, my my torso, poof, opens up and you see this glowing rod spinning and whirring and it's glowing brighter and brighter and brighter.
Trevor: superman
The Blade's Edge: woop boopooo
Kyle Beams: as this wand begins to overcharge. um And I'm rolling a d100, Bri.
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle Beams: Or an 83.
The Blade's Edge: An 83. Okay. mean, you can see what it does. You which would you like me to tell you. You can narrate what happens.
Kyle Beams: You guys see Stalvodok begin to whir and glow and then poof, disappear.
The Blade's Edge: StalvaDoc disappears.
Kyle: went
The Blade's Edge: Woof.
Trevor: Wah.
Kyle Beams: But my rope is left behind.
The Blade's Edge: ah his rob Yeah, his rope and the and the ah space is still there.
Vesz'rak: I'm going for the rope. I'm going for the rope.
The Blade's Edge: But Stalvodok seems to have disappeared.
Kyle Beams: And then as a bonus action, if this can infer anything to you guys, my force ballista takes a shot at the.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. And that's still over on the land.
Kyle Beams: Yep.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Kyle Beams: For 14.
The Blade's Edge: ah Phillip and Siler are going to give you the help action.
Kyle Beams: OK, for 14 and then we're going roll another ah one at those. Spell attack.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, I'm on. Oh, 20, baby.
The Blade's Edge: That does hit.
Kyle Beams: Four.
Kyle Beams: Five force damage.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. It takes that. It is now considered bloodied.
Kyle Beams: And that's the end of my turn, as you have no sight of Stalvodok.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. um Now something is about to happen that is very unfortunate for one of you. um including you, Stalvodok, as with this, whatever creature this is, knows that you're still there.
Vesz'rak: Look, just say my name, Brian.
The Blade's Edge: It has some sort of scent.
Vesz'rak: You don't have to be...
Kyle Beams: So...
Trevor: yeah
Kyle Beams: So it's it's very bad for one of us and extremely bad for another one of us.
Vesz'rak: yeah
Vesz'rak: Yeah, you don't have to be shit.
The Blade's Edge: i am I am using all three legendary actions to do what it did the first round. It is going to do ah this psychic lash.
The Blade's Edge: It comes out, but it will go, and it it is going to attack whoever draws the lowest draw. me get some money.
Kyle Beams: Oh, baby.
Vesz'rak: All right.
Kyle Beams: Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, I'm standing up.
The Blade's Edge: I doesn't want any of you here, so it doesn't matter which one of you I take down first.
Vesz'rak: all ah Like, I also don't want to be here!
Kyle Beams: Tommy, count it down.
Kyle: Oh, natural 20.
The Blade's Edge: Not going to be Bash. Not going to be Bash.
Kyle: It is not going to be me. Y'all be easy though.
The Blade's Edge: Could be Doc?
Vesz'rak: talk with the eight?
Kyle Beams: Y'all be easy, though.
Vesz'rak: Trev you first, Trev you first, Trev you first.
Trevor: Oh, we're all rolling D20s, man.
The Blade's Edge: Yep, yep. Yeah, we're drawing straws here.
Kyle Beams: Oh, Tommy.
Vesz'rak: 13.
The Blade's Edge: not going to be Anabi.
Kyle Beams: Oh, Tommy.
The Blade's Edge: It's either SolvaDoc or Dasan.
Vesz'rak: Can I beat an eight? Here we go. 15.
The Blade's Edge: All right.
Kyle: This will be so funny.
Vesz'rak: Woo!
Kyle Beams: Oh, my God.
Kyle: Oh.
Trevor: Wow.
Kyle Beams: Stalvodok disappears, and then...
The Blade's Edge: not And then I don't even i don't even think i need to roll.
Kyle Beams: i have three health.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you have three health, so it does not matter with the wisdom save because you will take half ah even if you even if you save.
Trevor: Oh, shit.
Kyle: Oh.
The Blade's Edge: ah You take a ah boatload of psychic damage ah and you are stunned and you are invisible and you hit the water. i will say, D'Saun, you see splash on the water.
Vesz'rak: um' I'm going for that splash.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you don't see anything there.
Kyle: Can you roll the damage just so I can see a big number on screen?
The Blade's Edge: Sure, you want to see a big number? 49 points of psychic damage.
Kyle: or For dopamine's sake.
Vesz'rak: Yeah.
Kyle: Oh my god.
Vesz'rak: Jesus Christ.
Kyle: 49.
Vesz'rak: He's rolling hot.
The Blade's Edge: Good roll.
Kyle: already nine
The Blade's Edge: i That's a good roll. That's a good roll.
Trevor: Yeah, it's a crazy rule.
The Blade's Edge: Nothing below four. All right, Stalvadak is down, stunned, and ah beginningnna is beginning to drown, hits the water.
Kyle Beams: yeah
The Blade's Edge: You guys do see a shape hit the water, but you don't see his body. Bash her up. That's all the legendary actions. There's no more legendary actions this round.
Kyle: um Yeah, I'm going to continue my my brisk walk up to the homie, and going throw out two more reckless attacks, so I'm feeling crazy.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Attacking recklessly.
Kyle: That's going to be 26 26. 13 damage. or not at twenty six
The Blade's Edge: Hits.
Kyle: thirteen damage
The Blade's Edge: For 13 damage, it takes that.
Kyle: 25 not almost rolled
The Blade's Edge: Hits.
The Blade's Edge: That hits. Roll that Dimash.
The Blade's Edge: Play the ball as a live. I'll take it.
Kyle: ah for twenty more damage
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Any more damage? It's looking hurt. It's looking hurt. Gotta have a plan for that for that staff. But also, you got you got a compatriot, an invisible compatriot starting to drown.
The Blade's Edge: that your turn?
Kyle: Yeah, and then I on it, and then I, that's end my turn.
The Blade's Edge: You're getting lost in the the rain and the snow and the water whipping around.
Vesz'rak: I'm doing it on that thing.
Kyle: Yeah, I Hawk, dude. Hawk it on him.
The Blade's Edge: Anabi, you're up.
Trevor: Alright, let's see. Fucking what can I do? going to have... Where's my board at?
Trevor: I'm bored.
The Blade's Edge: He might be covered by the tentacle. Or no, he's up there by the book.
Trevor: I see 30. Can get there? Oh yeah, fucking barely. Let's go.
Trevor: him to here. Give me the help action.
The Blade's Edge: okay
Trevor: um And I'm going to cast third level Scorching Ray.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. So your first roll of that will have advantage.
Trevor: yeah three Fiery Rays. One additional for each skill. Okay, so four Fiery Rays. um
The Blade's Edge: Cool. It each does like 2d6, right?
Trevor: Yeah, I'm just going to give you all these. Okay, 22. Nice. No, or 21. twenty two
The Blade's Edge: Oh, first one will hit, but let's see if you crit on the first one.
Trevor: nice
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Trevor: now or twenty one
The Blade's Edge: First one hits.
Trevor: Okay, second one misses.
The Blade's Edge: So when this is.
Trevor: Third one, hella misses.
The Blade's Edge: Third one misses.
Trevor: Fourth one misses.
The Blade's Edge: Fourth one misses, but your first one hits.
Trevor: Hey, I'll take it for 12 damage.
The Blade's Edge: Nice, this thing is on death's door.
Trevor: um Nice. And then...
Trevor: Should i fucking get squirrely too?
Vesz'rak: Kiss him.
Trevor: I'll get, I'll get squirrely.
Kyle: Get a little silly with it.
Trevor: Fuck it. Uh, is this like, that's what I'm saying.
Vesz'rak: How are we getting the staff, though?
Trevor: So how would movement work between here and here and here?
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, the minute you'd hit like this square right here, you'd be hitting water and then your movement would be halved.
Trevor: Cause is this like a little,
Trevor: okay, six. So I got 15 feet of movement to here.
The Blade's Edge: Now your next square would bring you to 25.
Trevor: Where am I at right here? Okay, nice.
The Blade's Edge: oh
The Blade's Edge: okay
Trevor: oh wait, I might be stupid.
Kyle: Well, you just have to touch the... Or wait, do you have to get to that specific tile?
Trevor: For what I was thinking, yeah, wait.
Kyle: Or the...
Trevor: Oh, wait, no, because it's not technically, it's not as, as a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see c three times per long rest. That's the blessing of the Raven Queen. Does that count as a spell, Brian?
The Blade's Edge: No.
Trevor: Oh, let's go. Okay, fuck yeah.
Kyle: It's so good.
Trevor: I'm going to try and fuck it. I'm taking a page out of their book and I'm going to try and do that directly to the staff and to grab the staff.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. Whatever check you want to make. Dexterity saving throw. Strength saving throw. Athletics check. Acrobatics check. DC's 21. Cool.
Vesz'rak: Hey, watch this.
Kyle Beams: Let's go.
Trevor: me
Kyle Beams: Yo, let's
Trevor: I'll do acrobatics.
The Blade's Edge: cool
Trevor: A dexterous sort of vibe.
The Blade's Edge: Sure.
Kyle Beams: yo let's go, dude.
Trevor: 23, let's fucking go.
The Blade's Edge: you are able to You are able to hold on.
Kyle Beams: Let's go.
The Blade's Edge: You get some sort of a monk-like footing to do in the suction cups on the tentacle's tail. And is that your turn?
Trevor: That is my turn.
Vesz'rak: You hate seeing people live your dream, huh?
The Blade's Edge: Okay. Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Valentine is going to do something that is going to, he says, ah I'm beginning to remember.
Trevor: yeah
The Blade's Edge: I'm changing. Hey, I'm sorry for this, but D'Sun, you should be okay, but it will light up your friend. And he will cast Fairy Fire. Actually, I can get it where it won't hit you.
The Blade's Edge: It'll just hit Stall the Dock.
Vesz'rak: Oh, I was going to cast fairy fire. Nice.
The Blade's Edge: ah he but
Vesz'rak: were We're on the same page.
The Blade's Edge: So no no offensive spell from Valentine this turn, but he does cast Fairy Fire on Stalvadoc. And we'll say he gets the Tentacle in there. Let's see let's roll a Dex save for the Tentacle. He's disadvantage on Dex saves.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. The Tentacle also is Fairy Fire, meaning attack rolls will now have advantage on him.
Kyle Beams: Oh, yeah.
Trevor: Huge.
The Blade's Edge: And you can see the outline of a body beginning to sink to Saan. It is the Tentacle's turn.
Vesz'rak: I'm going for that body.
The Blade's Edge: And the tentacle is going to turn and ah water and acid ah coalesce to take a chomp out of bash.
Kyle: Oh my god, I'm gonna fucking kill you.
The Blade's Edge: At advantage.
Kyle: Not the DM, but the the tentacle.
Vesz'rak: ah yeah
The Blade's Edge: A 30 to hit. Bash, you take 8 halved to 4 and only 9 acid.
Kyle: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Low roll for 13 total.
Kyle Beams: Could have been 25 and it could have been 24. total of
The Blade's Edge: Dasan, it's your turn, and the ah ah legendary actions have been resumed, ah but you're up first.
Kyle: Wait, he got more legendary actions?
Vesz'rak: Okay.
The Blade's Edge: Gets three every round.
Kyle: Oh!
Vesz'rak: How?
The Blade's Edge: He can use three of them to do the big thing, the Psychic Lash, or he can use the Psychic Orb attack three times.
Kyle: When do I get legendary actions, huh?
Vesz'rak: How?
The Blade's Edge: when you become When you become an NPC, and then I have control of you, then you do.
Trevor: ah
Vesz'rak: ah but ah How far away is Doc from me? So I'm kind of at the just at the edge of the water.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, roll me a d20, Doc. going want to roll low here.
Kyle Beams: That's a 16, which is coincidentally exactly what Tommy rolled.
The Blade's Edge: I'll say roll... Yeah, roll with disadvantage, though, because you started above the water, so we'll take the lower of your two rolls.
Vesz'rak: 16. Wow.
Kyle: No way, dude.
Vesz'rak: Fuck.
The Blade's Edge: It's meant to be. you He's 16 feet down, Dessan, so it would take your entire movement to get to him.
Kyle Beams: ah
Vesz'rak: Yeah, so I am going to burn my entire movement.
Kyle: no
The Blade's Edge: Okay, you're 16 feet underwater.
Vesz'rak: 16 feet underwater, and I'm going to use, as an action, the last bit of Lay on Hands, 15 points, into Stalbadok.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Trevor: And I'm 16 from edge.
Kyle Beams: 15 points.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, 15 points of healing.
Kyle Beams: Maybe 16 isn't so many feet down.
The Blade's Edge: That is your movement.
Vesz'rak: Yeah, it's a...
The Blade's Edge: That is your action. Any bonus action?
Vesz'rak: um
Vesz'rak: Fuck. I want to get this.
Vesz'rak: No, I want to save it for when the staff drops. I want to save my... I have one more Misty stuff, but I want to save it save it for the staff. like Like, when it comes down, I want to be able to go and grab it.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: Can i hold my action? Or no?
The Blade's Edge: No, you can't hold a bonus action.
Vesz'rak: um it's actually Okay, i'll just wait I'll just wait.
The Blade's Edge: Okay.
Vesz'rak: I'll just wait in the water. then So I'll be over here. I'll wait for the water.
The Blade's Edge: Stall the dock, you're up, and then one of you is drawn straws again.
Kyle Beams: Excellent. Yeah, so I get back up and 16 feet underwater.
The Blade's Edge: You're 16 feet underwater, 15 health.
Kyle Beams: Unfortunately, that doesn't stop my core from going absolutely fucking manic. So I'm rolling a D100 again. Okay, this is my second charge and it is a right.
The Blade's Edge: Nice, and you're still invisible, so you spend another charge. It's your second charge. And just remember that each day you regain 1d6 plus 1.
Kyle Beams: So I roll a four.
The Blade's Edge: And if you ever use your final charge, you'll roll a d20, and on a 1, your core will crumble and to be destroyed.
Kyle Beams: Exactly.
The Blade's Edge: What'd you roll?
Kyle Beams: um
Kyle: you
Kyle Beams: I rolled a four, which is ah certain spell.
The Blade's Edge: Nice! Pretty good.
Kyle Beams: So I'm casting it on tentacle.
The Blade's Edge: Yes.
Kyle Beams: It's a wisdom, wisdom save.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. I think it's a con is that a con save or a dex save. Wisdom save. Okay. Not disadvantage on the wisdom save, but a plus five. Failure.
Kyle Beams: Failure. So you see this thing start to go from whipping and, uh, swinging its tentacle around, and now it looks like it's moving in slow motion.
Kyle Beams: um It has minus two to its AC and dex saving throws, and it can't use reactions.
The Blade's Edge: Nice. I will also say that'll help, Inabi, that'll help you get the staff better.
Trevor: Oh sick, okay.
Kyle Beams: Yeah, let me link that.
The Blade's Edge: as it's slowed.
Trevor: Fuck yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Also, what I'll say for that for legendary actions is we're going to take the three option off the board because he's going to lose one. But let's see how many he loses to Alvodok. Roll me a D3.
The Blade's Edge: On a three, he loses all of them.
Kyle Beams: and Okay, so I'm not super concerned by being underwater because I don't need to breathe.
The Blade's Edge: But he at least loses one, he can't use the big one.
Trevor: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: True. True.
Kyle Beams: um But looking at Dasan, let's see, I've used my action, and then for my bonus action, i can't see through my Ballista's eyes, or my Cannon's eyes, so would I be able to still use a bonus action for to shoot?
The Blade's Edge: Sure.
Kyle Beams: Okay, cool. Then we're gonna do that.
The Blade's Edge: Add advantage, and it has minus two to its AC. So the AC is now 17, and you have advantage.
Kyle Beams: Add advantage.
The Blade's Edge: From Fairy Fire.
Kyle Beams: Boom. First one. Miss. Boom. Second one. 22 to hit. Okay.
The Blade's Edge: That hits.
Kyle Beams: And then we're gonna roll 2d8. Force damage. That's gonna be 13 force damage.
The Blade's Edge: Stalvodok, how does your Ballista Cannon end this tentacle?
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: With 12 health.
Kyle Beams: And it basically has like one chunk of tentacle flailing in the air with the staff in it, hoping that one of the guys can grab it.
Trevor: I'm holding on to it, I think.
The Blade's Edge: Cool. Yeah, as Inabi, you're holding onto it, the tentacle begins to pull itself, get pulled back into the water from whatever creature underneath. Stalvodok, what's your intelligence?
Kyle Beams: twenty
The Blade's Edge: Score. Okay, so that then you need to roll me, is that makes it times five is 100. So you absolutely, unfortunately ah for you, you understand what this thing is underneath the water, and you do gain, ah this is sometimes where being smart
The Blade's Edge: hurts you because what you're looking at, that's what you see. I just DMed it to you. um And I need you to roll me a short-term madness effect. Roll me D100. 23. You can go ahead
Kyle Beams: Yeah, baby. Short-term madness is 23. Okay, Now...
The Blade's Edge: twenty three um you can go ahead and
The Blade's Edge: ah
Kyle Beams: ah okay
The Blade's Edge: at the end of combat, which is right now.
Kyle Beams: now
The Blade's Edge: Combat ends. ah Inabi, as you're getting pulled towards the water, you have the staff in your hands. You've ah held onto to it as it's being pulled in, and you hit the top of the water with the staff.
Trevor: Yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Bash, your rage ends. Is this correct?
Kyle: That is correct.
The Blade's Edge: And as both of you look towards the water, expecting to see Dasan and Stalvadak crest,
The Blade's Edge: you see neither thing happen.
Kyle Beams: um Yeah.
Kyle: We know where they are, like in the...
The Blade's Edge: Anabi, Ash?
Kyle: we have an idea of where we think they would come up.
The Blade's Edge: You still see Stalvodok's lit up body ah like underneath the surface of the water about 16 feet down.
Kyle Beams: Undulating.
The Blade's Edge: And he's on. He is undulating. ah You don't see Dessan's body. Because he was not lit up with fairy fire.
Kyle: Shoot, I mean, they're so far away, like, i don't have a ton of movement I can, like,
The Blade's Edge: Is that my staff?
Trevor: Yep.
The Blade's Edge: Throw it to me.
Trevor: I don't trust myself to throw that. Can I have my familiar?
The Blade's Edge: I trust myself.
Trevor: Yeah,
The Blade's Edge: Throw it to me.
Kyle: Just throw it
Trevor: yeah i'll I'll toss it.
The Blade's Edge: right, you toss it as you do. You see his young body start to run towards the edge of the cliff and leap off of it. And as he does and grabs the staff midair, a bolt of lightning strikes his body.
Kyle: Not again.
The Blade's Edge: And as ah he grabs the staff and the lightning ah that had blinded your guys' eyes, you see the true a form of Stull the Doc in his old age.
Kyle: Wait, have... have stole dock?
Kyle Beams: Hell yeah.
The Blade's Edge: Sorry, no, of Valentine.
Kyle: Oh.
Trevor: Sick.
Kyle: Look at him.
The Blade's Edge: Ridley Valentine, as he is in midair flying, holding the staff, he begins to say something and he says, i am.
Vesz'rak: He's perfect.
The Blade's Edge: Gentlemen, I am beneficous, Ridley Valentine. i s servedd more than canaan I served I served Alcefew Stardark. And it is time.
The Blade's Edge: And he points his staff at the water, which parts and you see an unconscious D'Saun who was sinking and an incapacitated stall of a dock who is
Kyle Beams: laughing his ass off.
Trevor: yeah Oh, shit.
The Blade's Edge: laughing underwater.
Kyle Beams: Ha ha ha ha
The Blade's Edge: ah
Kyle Beams: ah
The Blade's Edge: He will use ah burn a a massive spell slot to like levitate both of them out of the water while they are still um unconscious or incapacitated. Place them over here.
The Blade's Edge: And he... His eyes, lightning tingling behind his eyes. Venificous, Ridley Valentine. You look towards the town.
The Blade's Edge: And as you do 10 minutes or so pass as you guys sort of wait for them to wake up, you see a a man from the town approach.
The Blade's Edge: It's like this.
Trevor: Sick. Fucking tight.
Kyle: Oh.
Vesz'rak: Shift Z me?
The Blade's Edge: Uh.
Vesz'rak: Shift Z me then one more time?
The Blade's Edge: And he you see sort of a triton man with blue skin.
Vesz'rak: Nice.
The Blade's Edge: His ears almost look like fins. His hair is this dark green. He's he's very wet. um
Kyle Beams: Would he be a triton perhaps?
The Blade's Edge: He is a triton. And Stalvadak, this is the same silhouette as the guy you saw working on the ship. um And as he sees you all, ah he sort of waves and goes, is everybody OK over there?
Kyle Beams: I come up from the water and I'm still laughing.
The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you're out you're over here on the on the side. you are You were brought out of the water. You were saved by ah Valentine. Beneficus Ridley Valentine levitated both you and Dasan out of the water onto the side and 10 minutes have passed.
The Blade's Edge: Your short-term madnesses have passed.
Vesz'rak: God bless.
Kyle Beams: Fantastic. Woo!
The Blade's Edge: Is everybody okay over there? I saw some commotion.
Vesz'rak: He saw some commotion. That was a lot of commotion.
Kyle Beams: Are you aware you have a gigantic kraken lingering in your midst?
The Blade's Edge: Right. Yeah, he is so he's protecting me from my important work, and I serve him in turn. and's so He's just doing his job. I wouldn't take him personally. ah He loves knowledge.
The Blade's Edge: He loves the things that I think you guys took back, which that's totally fine with me.
Trevor: Thank you.
The Blade's Edge: ah But ah yeah, that's Yach Thichler.
Kyle Beams: Excuse me?
Kyle: ah What?
The Blade's Edge: His name's Yach Thichler.
Kyle Beams: I'm sorry.
Kyle: Who?
Kyle Beams: One more time.
The Blade's Edge: Yach? Fiffler.
Kyle: Yach Fiffler.
Kyle Beams: Yuck Sizzler.
The Blade's Edge: Yuck Fiffler.
Kyle Beams: Yuck Sizzler.
Kyle: Oh, Yach Fiffler. Oh.
Kyle Beams: Oh, Yuck Sizzler.
The Blade's Edge: Yuck Fiffler, yeah.
Kyle: Yach Fiffler, of course.
The Blade's Edge: What it...
Vesz'rak: of Of course.
Kyle Beams: Of course.
The Blade's Edge: He sort of wins. ah What brig... You guys are are getting so some stuff?
Kyle Beams: We kind of came here for for this stuff. what's ah What's your name, guy?
The Blade's Edge: Indeed, my liege. My name is Vinificus Ridley Valentine.

Trevor: Go off, King.
Kyle Beams: off.
