The Blade's Edge: ah You'll get not only will you get the episodes early, But we are ah currently working on a nice little, I think what we're tentatively calling a four shot ah that Kyle Beams, our player here, ah who is playing Stalvadak, will be running.

Doc: Oh yeah.

The Blade's Edge: ah Me, I'll be a player, and Tommy, who plays Vezrak, a.k.a. um What's Vezrak's current name?

Vesz'rak: Dishan.

The Blade's Edge: on Sorry, your name your name in the call is Vezra. That's why i always I always default to doing that because I'll look down and see that.

Vesz'rak: and Sorry, man.

The Blade's Edge: um Yeah, he's going to play us through a little foreshot exclusively for you Patreon members. So if you're listening to this and want to get a taste of me being of a player character or what Kyle's got cooking for this little foreshot, head on over.

Doc: Mm-hmm.

The Blade's Edge: um ah That being said, shout out to some of our patrons. Zach Zimmer, Casey Winkleman, Milena, Marina Steinbrook, Mark, Arson Nazarian, Jonesy, Gray-Haired Gamer, Dane Copsey, Brandon Granada, Louis Alamea, ah Ryan Baum.

The Blade's Edge: Thank you guys so much, just to name a few. But I digress.

The Blade's Edge: We...

Doc: It's back. It's back.

The Blade's Edge: Yes. As we... fade back in through the mists onto a snowy mountainside. I will say that's been getting very frigid and very cold.

The Blade's Edge: Where we last left off, the the gang, called the Lightning, was heading from ah the lake where Jimothy was at, along with Jimothy's patron, Yox Isler.

The Blade's Edge: And you were heading up to the Amber Temple, where The Taroka reading, which is just a tarot reading. That's interesting. Have we ever looked at why that's different? um'll I'll do that.

The Blade's Edge: That's the job for me. Your Taroka reading ah let you guys know that there was something here for you. There was something that you could find here that would aid in your quest.

The Blade's Edge: um It was, this card tells of a powerful force for good and protection, a holy symbol of great hope. Seven of swords, the hooded one.

The Blade's Edge: I see a faceless god. He awaits you at the end of a long and winding road deep in the mountains. as you guys have gone up Mount Gakus, you've come across the Salenka Pass, you went through the fiery gate where um or Dasan took some damage, and then the rest of you didn't.

Doc: He's fine. He's fine.

The Blade's Edge: He's fine!

Vesz'rak: Hey, this is sometimes you accidentally walk through some green flames. It just happened

The Blade's Edge: Yes! Yeah.

Kyle: I've been there, man.

Doc: There's no way it's going to hurt me.

Vesz'rak: happens.

Doc: No way.

Vesz'rak: Sometimes you have to dump 25 points to lay on hands off yourself off the rip. But hey.

The Blade's Edge: As we as we ah zoom back in through the fog to this bridge, we see a D'Saan, who eyebrows burned off from this green flame.

The Blade's Edge: um

Vesz'rak: Some like green dye.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. And the rest of the group crossing the bridge as this massive creature has begun to swoop down towards you.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. As it has done this, ah before we roll initiative and all that, why isn't everybody just very quickly as this thing makes its way towards you? Go ahead and just roll me a history check.

The Blade's Edge: Because diving towards this bridge is a creature of unearthly size. A bird so monstrous that its wings blot out the sky.

Doc: That is,

Doc: ooh, that's an 18 history from Doc.

The Blade's Edge: What'd you guys roll?

Kyle: God,

The Blade's Edge: Nice. I think this is probably not um not too uncommon that maybe you guys have heard about things like this. Like, this isn't a one-of-a-kind.

The Blade's Edge: um This is known...

Kyle: it's a bird

The Blade's Edge: yeah

Doc: It's Big Bird from Sesame Street, dude, we know.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, maybe Bash is the only person who doesn't recognize what this sort of creature is. um You guys, some people call these things these things Sky Titans. these are it's This is known as a rock.

The Blade's Edge: An ROC, rock.

Doc: Ooh.

The Blade's Edge: um And as this thing is diving down towards you, um let's roll initiative. And as the initiative is rolled, Venificus, Ridley, ah Valentine rolling as well.

The Blade's Edge: um When it gets to your turn in initiative, before you announce your turn, you starting off in a combat, let us know who you are and who you're playing and maybe what their expression is as this rock is ah flying towards them.

Doc: Hell yeah.

Kyle: I just rolled two fives. That's incredible.

Doc: Attaboy.

The Blade's Edge: but Because you have advantage on initiative now.

Kyle: I do have advantage, but apparently it doesn't matter.

The Blade's Edge: Is that a... Yeah,

Trevor: He's just looking at that plane, dude.

The Blade's Edge: yeah yeah. Yeah, you're like...

Kyle: um Let me see what that's from.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I think i think you might have gotten just gotten that at level 9, which is funny, because you guys are level...

Kyle: no No, I've had it. of

The Blade's Edge: Oh, okay.

Kyle: ah took Feral Instinct.

The Blade's Edge: Nice.

Kyle: I don't know if that's a tree a character trait.

The Blade's Edge: No, you you get that. That's something you get with ah being a...

The Blade's Edge: being a barbarian.

Kyle: Yeah. I did get Brutal Critical though.

The Blade's Edge: Um... Fuck yes.

Kyle: Level 9.

Trevor: Ooooooh.

Doc: Yeah, buddy.

The Blade's Edge: And you already have an extra dice from being half orc, so your crits will be crazy.

Doc: Let's use it.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

The Blade's Edge: um Yeah.

Kyle: Throne of the Moon.

Doc: about to pump, we salute you.

The Blade's Edge: I also am going to, we're going to start doing something um pretty fun here, which is that you guys are now, you guys feel like connection with ah Mr. Valentine, the Mad Mage.

The Blade's Edge: And that connection is going to allow you guys to have access to some of what he can do for you as you guys have gone on a ah lengthy mission to help him. So ah Ridley Valentine is a divination wizard.

The Blade's Edge: So every day ah we as a group will roll two D twenties. We'll record the numbers rolled. So that would be ah helpful information for you guys to write down.

The Blade's Edge: And we as a group, can use his portent rolls as he's sort of seeing into the future. um And you can replace either one of your guys' rolls with this number, and it's just the the base roll, or you can replace an enemy enemy's roll if it's like a natural one or something.

Trevor: Fire.

Kyle: um

The Blade's Edge: um

Kyle: Really

Doc: Should we just give those to Tommy?

The Blade's Edge: So, yeah.

Doc: or

The Blade's Edge: So he can...

Vesz'rak: Like if you need somebody to look, look, yeah, I'll, I'll roll the first Valentine portent if you want a low one, but then I think Kyle beams roll the second one just cause we need a high one.

Doc: Somehow both of them are not ones. Oh,

Vesz'rak: you Just, just, just even us out, you know?

Doc: okay

The Blade's Edge: Sure, sure. So you you guys can use these, and it's two a day, so it doesn't come back on a short rest. These only are ah only able to be used twice in a day before a long rest. So yeah, Tommy, why don't you give us our first ever Mad Mage Portents?

Vesz'rak: Yeah, low roll. Here we come. That's a 10. Hey, honestly, that's pretty good.

Doc: Oh, hey, even Stevens.

Kyle: Hey, middle of the pack.

Vesz'rak: we Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: that is that Is that good, or is it like when Pitchfork gives something like a 6.5 and you're like, I'd rather it you've given it a 0 than 6.5? Yeah, yeah.

Vesz'rak: This is...

The Blade's Edge: Well...

Trevor: ah Yeah, that's very, is it Steve?

Doc: It's an IGN, IGN seven out of 10.

The Blade's Edge: yeah yeah

Kyle: I was, I was gonna say, Trevor, this is the Steve roll.

Doc: Yeah.

Trevor: This is the Steve roll.

Vesz'rak: this This is like my worst fear. It's like, okay, I'm here for the low roll. then I was like, oh, maybe it'll be high. No, just dead even. that's what I was thinking.

The Blade's Edge: well

Doc: Should I roll the other D20?

Kyle: or Or it could be low.

Vesz'rak: yeah

The Blade's Edge: So maybe maybe save a 10 situation for like if you're doing something where what you're adding to the 10 is pretty high for you.

Vesz'rak: yeah that's what i was thinking

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, if you have like a plus 7 to something and you roll like a 2 or something, you could change it to the 10 and all of a sudden it's 17.

Doc: Sure.

The Blade's Edge: Especially if you know the DC. And then, yeah, Kyle, why don't you go ahead and roll us our second number.

Doc: All right. Dropping that D20. That's a 15.

Kyle: Watch this 11. Oh, um

Doc: Yeah,

The Blade's Edge: Nice. 15 is pretty good.

Trevor: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Those are good rolls, honestly.

Doc: yeah that'll That'll do.

Vesz'rak: Good rolls.

Trevor: Wow.

Doc: that'll do

The Blade's Edge: So you guys have that in the bank. Obviously, you guys can decide as a group when you'd like to use those. ah I'm probably just going to go ahead and not use them for Valentine, unless you guys are like, we really want the thing that he was trying to do to work or something.

Doc: Yeah, his final ah his final death save, we give him that 10, you know what I'm saying?

The Blade's Edge: um Yeah. Yeah, but I am going to try and like... ah make his stuff more about you guys.

The Blade's Edge: So there's less, uh, DM and PC stuff going on here and I can just sort of facilitate, um, what you guys can do.

Doc: Yeah, super cool idea. I like it.

The Blade's Edge: All right. So with that being said, i have the unfortunate, unfortunate news.

Trevor: Bird's hungry.

Doc: of welcoming you to the chowing chamber, the butcher's bridge.

The Blade's Edge: ha is that the, the bird is ah first Mount Gakas rock.

Trevor: That's good.

Kyle: Welcome to pound town. Hmm.

The Blade's Edge: um And as he is up first, we are going to do a little, um we are going to do a little roll off. And so Tommy, I know you roll, you rolled that 10 because you were waiting to roll a natural one. Now, as he dives towards the bridge,

The Blade's Edge: He is diving towards either Stalvadak, who is in the center of the bridge, D'Saun, who is near the center of the bridge, or Bash, who is sort of by the start of the bridge. I need you guys to draw straws for this.

The Blade's Edge: So roll a d20 each, and let me know.

Doc: All right.

Vesz'rak: All

Doc: Tommy, count us down.

Kyle: ah

The Blade's Edge: Let me know what you're all...

Vesz'rak: right.

Doc: Count us down.

Vesz'rak: On go. Three, two, one, go. ah sort of

Trevor: yeah yeah yeah yeah

Doc: yeah

Kyle: on rail.

Vesz'rak: Why?

Trevor: ah That's so funny.

Vesz'rak: du Get me out of here give me

The Blade's Edge: It's actually, it's actually kind of unreal.

Vesz'rak: um kind of here.

Trevor: Wild.

Vesz'rak: I kind of expected at this point.

Trevor: That's so crazy.

Vesz'rak: Hey, if you're listening to this episode, we've been here before. We'll be here again.

Doc: Same bad time, same bad channel.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Let, let the people know what you, uh, let the people know what you, what you ruled.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, I rolled three um at this point. To be expected. ah Lowest roll wins. I'm the lowest roll. Dusan, Sunsword out, Shield up.

Vesz'rak: Vrak coming in for me. I'm ready.

Kyle: I'm just so glad I'm not the low roll guy in in this campaign.

Doc: It is the best person that he could have hit.

Trevor: That was so funny.

Vesz'rak: Dude, it's so it's so painful, man.

Kyle: Because I was in the last campaign that we did. And it just feels good to relinquish that that role.

Vesz'rak: We were –

Vesz'rak: Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, youe like when we started the pod, we were talking about, cause we were both low roll champions.

Trevor: There can only be one.

Doc: I mean...

Kyle: Yeah.

Vesz'rak: And I was like, there's no, i was like, there's no shot. You beat me in ah in a low roll off. And like, I feel ah pretty validated.

Doc: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah, no, I'm outclassed right now.

Doc: It's good to know your talents, right? It's good to know what you're about.

Kyle: Yeah, you're on a whole other level. It's unbelievable, Doctor.

Doc: I'm pretty sure actually in the character creation episode, we talked about that.

Vesz'rak: you know, I thought it was my apart. I thought it was my apartment. I moved places. I did the incense thing. You know, maybe, I don't know. Somebody help me. Something's up.

Doc: it's It's a poltergeist in one of your um and one of your belongings, Tommy.

Vesz'rak: ah

Kyle: Yeah, you need an exorcism, I think.

Doc: You need someone to cast Remove Cursed.

Vesz'rak: yeah

Trevor: One of the incense that you bought came with the poltergeist. I think you, you haunted yourself with the incense.

Doc: Yes, exactly.

Vesz'rak: oh Not my sandalwood incense. Come on.

Trevor: That definitely did it.

The Blade's Edge: a um he I will say, Kyle g when the difference is when you were rolling really poorly, we were on tour, and I got to consistently you see the look on your face.

The Blade's Edge: And you, in a big moment, would be like, here we go, baby.

Trevor: true

The Blade's Edge: Yes. Yeah.

Trevor: I can see you right now slouched in your chair with your ah hands between your legs, just like looking down.

Kyle: yeah yes that was a rough time in my life

Doc: Oh, God.

The Blade's Edge: yeah and

The Blade's Edge: yeah

Trevor: so sad.

Doc: Dungeons

Trevor: That's so funny.

The Blade's Edge: um

Doc: Dragons, baby.

The Blade's Edge: Well, let's go ahead and I know I said when it was your turn, you would ah describe yourself, but Dasan, as this massive bird is flying towards the bridge, what is to that who are you, who are you playing, and what does your character look like in this moment?

Vesz'rak: ah How's it going? Tommy, I'm playing Dasan, the Paladin of Lathander. Sunsword in hand, shield, no eyebrows, um kind of shaved short, cropped white hair, about five foot nothing.

Vesz'rak: ah Ready to take on this flying bird and hoping I don't get yeeted off a bridge, Brian.

The Blade's Edge: um It is almost like you read its mind. um

Kyle: Oh no, why would- wait, what?

The Blade's Edge: As it comes in, its talons come straight towards you, Dasan, and go to ah go to but swipe at you and hit you and grab you

Kyle: Please.

The Blade's Edge: and take grab you off the bridge

Vesz'rak: Watch this.

The Blade's Edge: um what's your ac

Vesz'rak: AC's 18. Shield up.

The Blade's Edge: Your AC is 18. This thing has a plus 13 to hit.

Vesz'rak: Yikes. Yeah,

Doc: No, no, no, no, no. no no no no

The Blade's Edge: thats it That's a 25 to hit.

Vesz'rak: it is. Go on.

Kyle: What?

Vesz'rak: Okay. Okay.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so not only do you take 29 points of slashing damage, ah you are grappled.

Vesz'rak: go on okay

The Blade's Edge: And as this thing comes through, the good news is that it comes through, it grabs D'Saun, and as it leaves the bridge's range, Stalvodok and Bash, you guys both have opportunity attacks.

Doc: Oh, yeah. And I will take it.

Kyle: incredible.

Doc: question actually because i I don't have ranged ah weapons very often can I make a ranged opportunity attack as he flies away?

The Blade's Edge: I do not think so.

Doc: Because I don't even have a melee weapon other than an unarmed strike.

The Blade's Edge: ah range

The Blade's Edge: um

The Blade's Edge: do do do do

Doc: Let's see opportunity attack blah blah blah.

The Blade's Edge: No, unfortunately. mean, I'll let you do it, but it'll be a disadvantage because the opportunity comes when it is like right next to you.

Doc: Okay well then

Doc: Yeah, sure. So I actually, I'm just going to try to reach my arm out to grab Dasan as an unarmed strike.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: 22 unarmed strike.

The Blade's Edge: A 22 hits the rock. Yeah.

Doc: Two bludgeoning damage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. Two bludgeoning damage. It takes all that. um Bash.

Kyle: Yes, sir.

The Blade's Edge: Would you like to to take an opportunity attack?

Kyle: ah Let me just roll this natural 20 real quick.

Vesz'rak: I'm physically cringing right now.

Doc: Hold on, hold on. you have a plus 11? Should you use a portent dice?

Kyle: um I could just reroll because I have I have lucky.

Doc: Use that 10 maybe? I'm just saying.

Kyle: Which I will do.

Doc: Up to you.

Kyle: 30 20.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, a 13 will miss. Not by much, but a 13 will miss. Not wearing armor, it's big ol' bird. It's a big ol' bird.

Kyle: thirty twenty

Doc: Oh.

The Blade's Edge: Alright, you use your first luck point of the day, Bash, and a dirty 20 will indeed hit this creature.

Kyle: Or... Fuck me for 8 damage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, very damaged.

Kyle: I rolled a 1 on the die.

Doc: Also, for the viewers at home, when Tommy took that damage, he only took four off the maximum amount of damage he could take on that roll.

Doc: It's a hot roll.

The Blade's Edge: That's a hot roll from me.

Kyle: What?

Vesz'rak: Yeah. and There's one thing you need to know about Brian. He rolls hot.

Doc: It's four...

The Blade's Edge: A roll hot, yeah.

Kyle: Guys, are is are we gonna...

Vesz'rak: He rolls hot.

The Blade's Edge: This is

Kyle: I don't want to say the T phrase, but are we gonna get TP?

Doc: No, no, no. We don't... we don't we know No, it's it's not the beginning of COVID, bro.

Vesz'rak: No, hey.

Kyle: What?

Doc: We're not getting TP, okay? Okay.

The Blade's Edge: true.

Kyle: Ah, facts.

The Blade's Edge: Well, here is an interesting... um

Kyle: Funny you say that.

The Blade's Edge: Here...

Trevor: Yeah. Oh,

The Blade's Edge: is I need to look at a spell real quick and look at the range, because here's what's going to happen.

Trevor: it's so funny.

The Blade's Edge: is This thing it takes a massive talent attack on Utasan, snatches you off the bridge,

Vesz'rak: Yeah, hurting. I'm bloodied, by the way. I'm bloodied.

The Blade's Edge: right ah takes you off the bridge, and drops you.

Vesz'rak: Oh, yeah.

The Blade's Edge: ah You look down, and it is a 500-foot

Vesz'rak: but

Kyle: Oh.

Vesz'rak: the Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Now, you are within. You're 55 feet away from your newest member.

Doc: I got you, Doug.

The Blade's Edge: And ah Ridley Valentine is going to use his reaction to cast Featherfall.

Vesz'rak: Okay. Okay.

The Blade's Edge: ah He can choose up to five falling creatures, so it's going only be you. So if this happens to somebody else, his turn will have to have come and and gone at this point. But your ah falling rate slows to 60 feet per round.

The Blade's Edge: So he dropped you, and you begin to fall very slowly and not fast towards your death.

Vesz'rak: okay

Vesz'rak: So do I fall – am I falling 60 feet through like the entire initiative order is it or is it like at the start of my turn I fall 60 feet or at the end of my turn I fall 60 feet?

The Blade's Edge: It's per round, so at the end when it comes back around to the rocks next turn, you'll be 60 feet down.

Vesz'rak: Okay. So I'm next to it right now.

The Blade's Edge: You are beginning to fall.

Vesz'rak: Okay. it. Got it. Got it.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, you are beginning yeah you are beginning to fall you want to take an attack on it.

Vesz'rak: got got

The Blade's Edge: That'll be its turn.

Vesz'rak: got it

The Blade's Edge: That is a spell slot. And we did use some spell slots for... um Mr. Valentine today. So let me just mark off. He had used but seven.

Trevor: Philip the Goat.

The Blade's Edge: Two, three, four. Five, six, seven. Cool. So he doesn't have doesn't a ton of spells left just for you guys keeping track at home. He's got ah three more first levels and three second levels.

Doc: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: um So his his higher spells were ah used to help you guys overcome the obstacles on this pass, specifically the fire. All right, that is the Rock's turn. On um Mr. Valentine's turn, that's not a concentration spell.

The Blade's Edge: So what he's going to do

Kyle: Doesn't he have like a kill bird spell or something?

The Blade's Edge: Oh, dude, I totally forgot about his kill bird spell.

Trevor: Power word, kill Bill.

The Blade's Edge: Sorry.

Doc: but Yeah, dude.

The Blade's Edge: Yes.

Kyle: Yeah.

Trevor: Or kill Bird.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Kill... Or kill bill.

Doc: our power word Power word bird?

Trevor: Power word, Bird.

Kyle: Bird is the word.

The Blade's Edge: Um...

Trevor: It is the word.

The Blade's Edge: He will make a magic missile attack at this thing. Just a first level magic missile for those of you at home. 120 foot range. And it just hits. And it does plus 1 three times. So 3d4 plus 3. Um...

The Blade's Edge: um This bird takes 9 points of force damage. um And he will just move 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.

The Blade's Edge: He's going to enter the bridge area towards where you guys entered from the south. Phillip and Silo will also go there, but they're going to sort of hide in these little alcoves inside.

Doc: Get out of the way! Hide!

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, the bird cannot grab them.

Doc: They have one health.

The Blade's Edge: um Well, Phillip's got 4, Silo's got 2.

Doc: Oh, same thing. same

The Blade's Edge: yeah um Trev, trev who who are you, who you plan, and what are you doing for your turn?

Trevor: Hello, I'm Trevor. I'm playing Anabi, and he is a Shatter Kai bladesinger. ah Dark ninja vibes.

The Blade's Edge: Oh, yeah.

Trevor: He got dark robes on, couple blades, got one of those like bandana things over his mouth. You know, shadow ninja vibes. um

The Blade's Edge: Love it.

Trevor: He's going to try and kill this bird.

The Blade's Edge: Hell yeah.

Trevor: But he also might have to get try and get this sawn. Let's see. Hang on. How much movement do have? 30 feet. I'm going bonus action. I'm going to start blade singing.

The Blade's Edge: love

Trevor: Take out my swords. I'm going to

Trevor: Wait, can I go?

Trevor: What is that different distance for? Oh, nice. Okay. I'm going to go to here.

The Blade's Edge: Chatware is here for those of us listening.

Trevor: You know, just just somewhere.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: Somewhere on the map, you know.

Kyle: Just over there.

The Blade's Edge: but Yeah.

Trevor: it Just over here. I'm going to go to the right...

The Blade's Edge: Over there. what don't you understand about that?

Trevor: yeah ah Yeah, you can't just see it?

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: I'm going to the right side of the bridge. um

The Blade's Edge: yeah

Trevor: like I guess the right side of the the yeah entrance to the bridge. And I can see Dasan falling into the river.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, but beginning to fall. He is feather fall, but he is about to fall 60 feet around to a total of 500 feet once he reaches the bottom.

Trevor: think.

Trevor: Okay, lit. Lit. Well, not lit, but that feather fall was very lit.

Doc: Screaming all the way.

Trevor: um I'm going to, at second level, cast ah Vortex Warp.

Vesz'rak: Yes!

Doc: Oh, you pre-warped me.

The Blade's Edge: Wow.

Trevor: On him. And I'm going to... Dasan, do you want to go? Do you want to be back up on the bridge? Do you want to be on the fucking bird? What are you... Are you trying to ride that bird? Or are you just... You want to...

Vesz'rak: Trev, think we both know what want to

Doc: You guys lock eyes and brain blast in this moment.

Trevor: What?

Vesz'rak: put me on that bird

Trevor: ah

Vesz'rak: Yeah, we lock eyes, dude. it's The static the electricity between us is real, and we both know the answer.

Trevor: You want to get on that bird.

Doc: It's like the Incredible Hulk nod.

Trevor: I know Doc's got your back.

Vesz'rak: Yeah.

Trevor: If something goes wrong with you being on the bird, he could he could get you back. So, i'll ah yeah, i'll I'll put you on that bird. I'll try vortex swarping you onto the back of the bird.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, like the nape of the neck, like i'm riding in Dragon, bro.

Trevor: Exactly. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly that.

The Blade's Edge: Alright. And Featherfall for you, just so you know, Tommy, it lasts a minute regardless.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, that's what I was hoping for.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Doc: Ha ha ha ha ha.

Vesz'rak: So we're, hey, we're playing the game.

Trevor: I was counting on it. That's funny.

The Blade's Edge: Alright, I love that. yeah Vortex Warp, Dasan, goes from falling to now he's on the back of the bird that is traveling mock speed. This bird with a movement speed of 120

The Blade's Edge: turn. um

Trevor: He was fast.

Kyle: name.

Trevor: o

The Blade's Edge: um Anything else, Inabi?

Trevor: Yeah, I'm probably just going to scoot those 20, 25, 30 back here until... thirty back here ah intel

Trevor: my owl to ah go find some shelter for this one.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Trevor: And I'm just going to send my bird like 30 feet into this tree or 25 feet up into that tree and just have them hang out in there.

The Blade's Edge: Love that. um Your owl goes and hides in the tree and stall the dock in the middle of the bridge. You are up.

Doc: Yeah, so I see my buddy get absolutely yoinked off of the bridge. I punch this rock. I realize, okay, it's way too fast, and Dasan is falling. ah cruise to the edge here, see that he gets war vortex warped onto the rock, and I'm going to try to support him.

Doc: So I'm going to use my action to summon my Eldritch turret, and as it crawls out from inside my body and walks onto the ground,

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: stands right by this crumbling bridge so it can kind of see a little bit below. um And

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, let me get you that token again. Sorry about that.

Doc: it's nice and deep down there, and it looks pretty freaky. um But I'm going to take a couple of shots with my cannon.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: um So my Force Ballista uses my spell attack modifier.

The Blade's Edge: there go

Doc: And that's going to be 28.

The Blade's Edge: There go. 28 hits.

Doc: And that is going to be damage. um Let me roll that real quick.

The Blade's Edge: Hell yeah. What kind of damage?

Doc: Force damage.

The Blade's Edge: Love that.

Doc: Yeah, buddy. So they hide this stuff everywhere on the sheet. I'm just going roll through.

Doc: Oh, and we roll eight damage.

The Blade's Edge: Nice. Love that.

Doc: um So that's my action, my bonus action. And then I'm actually going to move further to the north over here. um

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: Up the bridge towards the other side of the water.

The Blade's Edge: Love that.

Doc: um

The Blade's Edge: All right.

Doc: Yeah, and then look back at the group and anticipate what happens next on D'Saan's turn.

The Blade's Edge: Nice. So where like you are, Stalvodok, and where like Bash is, you can tell that the fall from where you guys are, only 400 feet.

Doc: Oh, good.

Kyle: Oh, good.

The Blade's Edge: It's the middle is 500, and then these these arrows on the map underneath the north and south parts of the entrances of the bridge represent the mountain, like how high up you are.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: So each ring of those is basically right around like 100

Doc: Cool yeah that makes sense.

The Blade's Edge: um Okay, Stalvodok, that is your turn. Alright, Dasan, you are on the back of this thing. It is traveling. Mach speed.

Vesz'rak: Mock Jesus, okay.

The Blade's Edge: Let's go ahead and mock Jesus. Yeah.

Kyle: Ludicrous speed.

Vesz'rak: Yeah. yeah ah

The Blade's Edge: I once i knew this guy, and i this stays on the pod, and i ah nobody used this.

Kyle: The public podcast that we're going to be publishing on the the internet.

Vesz'rak: We're

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, exactly. But all you you guys are cool, right? Everybody listening, you are

Doc: Yeah, everybody's cool.

Vesz'rak: so cool.

The Blade's Edge: guys are cool, right?

Trevor: This...

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Vesz'rak: we so cool We're so cool.

The Blade's Edge: Nobody's going to, nobody's going to like call cops on me, right? No, I knew this guy who jokingly one day said that his, his DJ name would be Toshibi Christ. And I was like, I kind of think that's actually cool.

The Blade's Edge: I was like, that's actually going to dove dude. Toshibi Christ. Anyways, just on, you're on the back of this thing. Mock Jesus.

Vesz'rak: okay ah and Okay, so I don't need to make like a strength check or save to stay on the bird. Am I firmly planted? Alright,

The Blade's Edge: Oh, on its turn, you absolutely will.

Vesz'rak: so I put my shield on my back.

The Blade's Edge: Mm-hmm.

Vesz'rak: rip I'm going to first off cast third level, haste on myself as I pull out wosh the Sun Sword.

Trevor: Oh.

Vesz'rak: As I go, you've probably never seen it in your life, but let me introduce you to the warmth of the sun.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Love that.

Vesz'rak: And I'm going to start swinging.

The Blade's Edge: Its head looks back at you on its back, just goes, Ah!

Doc: That's

Vesz'rak: i'm I'm glad we could come to an agreement. All right.

Doc: how I greet everybody these days.

Vesz'rak: Okay. ah First swing.

The Blade's Edge: that

Vesz'rak: Nat 20, Brian.

Kyle: Oh.

Vesz'rak: Nat 20, Brian.

The Blade's Edge: Wow.

Doc: oh

The Blade's Edge: oh

Vesz'rak: twenty brian

Trevor: Let's fucking go.

Kyle: Oh. We're online, boys.

Doc: oh Oh.

Vesz'rak: You know what?

The Blade's Edge: Love that.

Vesz'rak: for the love of the for the love of the pod, Brian, third level smite.

The Blade's Edge: This is a, yes.

Kyle: I felt it.

Doc: Oh.

Vesz'rak: I'm standing up. You hear me getting up?

The Blade's Edge: Wow.

Doc: Oh.

Vesz'rak: I'm standing up.

Trevor: oh let's fucking go.

The Blade's Edge: So is that, that's, is that 4d8 and then you'll double to Okay, cool.

Doc: Give me...

Vesz'rak: Yes.

Doc: Yeah, baby.

The Blade's Edge: and cool

Kyle: Oh, my God.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it is it is a monstrosity, so you you don't get that extra d8 from being undead.

Kyle: Please.

The Blade's Edge: um But you will do 8d8 additional damage after the sword's damage.

Vesz'rak: So I'm on the back of this thing, sword out.

Kyle: Oh my God.

Doc: Oh.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: I'm going for the nape of the neck, Brian. I'm going to cut this thing clean off.

Doc: Oh.

Doc: Attack on Titan, Stylees.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: All right, let's damage.

Doc: We've been playing Monster Hunter.

The Blade's Edge: Give me the sword damage first.

Doc: We've been playing Monster Hunter.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so...

Vesz'rak: Two-handed, 15. I don't know, so many numbers.

Kyle: and there's so many numbers.

The Blade's Edge: It does, yeah, and so it does, it does, the that extra is against undead, extra, yes, so is you were two-handed or one-handed?

Kyle: That's all...

Vesz'rak: Yeah. Yeah.

Vesz'rak: Two-handed.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so that's 15 plus another, plus nine plus

Doc: It looks like that's

Doc: Nine from the crit.

Doc: Ooh, and you haven't even smited yet.

The Blade's Edge: last

Vesz'rak: Okay. 24 damage.

The Blade's Edge: plus eighty eight

Doc: Come on, baby. Give me a 50+. Give 50+. 8 8.

Vesz'rak: You want the 8d8 or you want the Here, we're just going to do 8d8. Roll 8d8.

Doc: <unk>

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, ADA, yeah.

Kyle: eight 8D8 is big numbers.

Vesz'rak: For this smite damage, I'd like to imagine that as this smite goes in, you see a little ray of sun shined.

The Blade's Edge: Yes.

Vesz'rak: poke through the clouds. 88. 35 damage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: thirty five damage

The Blade's Edge: oh and so That's got to be our highest player character damage of the campaign at 59 total.

Doc: It's got be.

Doc: got be

Kyle: Damn.

The Blade's Edge: 59 damage. ah You smite this thing. Light comes through the crowd the clouds. And just as quickly as the light comes through the clouds, the clouds cover up that light as this thing looks back at you and goes...

The Blade's Edge: ah it is not it is It is not even bloodied, but that is only your first swing.

Vesz'rak: I'm glad we can agree on something. I'm swinging again.

The Blade's Edge: ha Yeah, go for it. Another nat 20? 15 is pizza

Vesz'rak: I'm standing up again.

Kyle: Imagine. i've seen I've seen crazier things.

Vesz'rak: Why not even sit down? 15, oh,

Doc: If Tommy uses both his nat 20s right here.

Trevor: oh

Doc: Oh, it's a 15.

Vesz'rak: fifteen oh sitting back down.

Doc: But it's a plus nine.

The Blade's Edge: pizza.

Doc: Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, you can use the portent.

The Blade's Edge: 15 hits.

Vesz'rak: Hold on, does the 15 hit Brian? I'm sitting back down.

Doc: Oh, beauty.

Vesz'rak: Oh, Brian, second level, Smy, second level.

Trevor: Let's go.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: I'm beginning to believe.

Kyle: He's beginning to leave.

Doc: Let's go.

The Blade's Edge: Now roll that two-handed.

Vesz'rak: Two-handed. 14 damage.

Doc: It's...

The Blade's Edge: 14. fourteen

Vesz'rak: Give me that Radiant.

Kyle: ah

Doc: Homies rolled... almost max damage on the D10 three in a row.

Vesz'rak: An 8 and 1. 8, 1, and 2. How close we fly to the sun. Call me Icarus. I'm on top of this bird.

The Blade's Edge: So 25 plus 59 is 79, 84 points of damage on your turn.

Vesz'rak: Smite.

Trevor: Jeez Louise. Let's

Kyle: Not bad, kid.

Vesz'rak: And I'm left hand gripping the mane of this rock, right hand on the Sun Sword.

Trevor: let's go

Vesz'rak: I just let out a, woo, Ric Flair, woo.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: I also, I appreciate the fact that we played such a heavy campaign with demons and stuff that you have rock on the bla on the brain, but this is just a classic rock, baby.

Vesz'rak: I'm sorry, said Brock like three times.

The Blade's Edge: That's okay. Vrox are a demon bird, so they're pretty close.

Vesz'rak: ah To me, this is a demon burn. Okay, that's my turn.

The Blade's Edge: 84 points of damage.

Kyle: That is incredible.

The Blade's Edge: The good news is you're going to town on this thing. The bad news is it is Bash's turn, and this thing is not bloodied yet.

Kyle: um

The Blade's Edge: After taking 100... taken 111 points damage, I and eleven points of damage i think

The Blade's Edge: Yes, Bash.

Kyle: Um, yes. Yes, indeed. So I noticed that I'm a melee character.

The Blade's Edge: Oh, really?

Kyle: And this bird is kind of giving ranged a little bit.

The Blade's Edge: ah you sure?

The Blade's Edge: yeah Yeah, it's serving it's serving range.

Doc: it's giving range.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Kyle: It's like it's serving distance and...

The Blade's Edge: yeah

Doc: Do want to get on top of it?

Trevor: yeah Yeah, you trying to get on the trying to get on that bird

Kyle: Dude, honestly... Could be... I do have javelins. I could throw some javelins at this fucker.

The Blade's Edge: Hell yeah.

Doc: Yeah, hell yeah, you could.

The Blade's Edge: How many javelins do you got?

Kyle: ah

The Blade's Edge: Because if you throw them, they will be gone because they're going to fall 500 feet.

Kyle: I've got... um

The Blade's Edge: So just as long as you're okay with expending javelins that you toss them, dude.

Kyle: Oh... Yeah.

Vesz'rak: Toss him. Toss me.

The Blade's Edge: yeah One of your javelins looks up at you and just says, toss me.

Kyle: Oh, yeah.

Vesz'rak: They're Gimli at Helm's Deep.

Kyle: Um...

Trevor: and rise yeah what's that What's that Rick and Morty game that's out where you're like walking around with a gun and the gun like talks to you?

Vesz'rak: Come on, toss me.

The Blade's Edge: Mm-hmm.

Kyle: The gun talks, yeah.

Trevor: Have you seen clips of that or played it?

The Blade's Edge: I have, Amber.

Doc: Yeah, um ah High on Life.

Kyle: Yeah.

Trevor: That shit looks pretty funny.

The Blade's Edge: That sounds cool.

Doc: It is very funny.

Trevor: Yeah. It looks hilarious. going to play that.

Doc: It was a free game on PlayStation last month.

Kyle: Yeah, I'm to toss some javies, I think. I don't think... and And, you know, anyone else can give me input. um I don't think I'm going rage for this fight because I feel like attacks for me are going to be few and far between.

Trevor: The only, ah yeah yeah, I do agree. If you wanted to get on that bird, we could put you on the bird.

Kyle: I'm going be real. I don't want to get on that bird.

Trevor: All right, then, yeah, maybe don't rage either. Yeah, I think your instincts were correct.

Kyle: um um I'm just, I'm not going to get the bird.

Trevor: That makes sense.

Kyle: Yeah, I'm

Doc: See, here's a fundamental difference between Dasan and...

Trevor: Yeah. yeah

Doc: One is insane and one is just a guy.

Kyle: going to throw some javelins. I've got, I've got nine or I've got four.

Vesz'rak: Wait, which one's which?

Kyle: I've got four javelins.

The Blade's Edge: Wait, dude, who's here, dude?

Vesz'rak: Yeah, who's the insane one and who's the normal who's the no i'm the know who's the normal guy?

The Blade's Edge: Wait, dude, who do you mean? Who's here, dude? What do you mean, dude?

Doc: What do you mean? oh

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: I'm trying to kill the rock.

The Blade's Edge: ah You're tossing a javvy?

Doc: ah It's a rock, bro.

Kyle: Yup.

The Blade's Edge: Toss that javvy.

Kyle: um

The Blade's Edge: How many you got?

Kyle: Oh, wait a minute. Wait a minute. It says 30 slash 120.

The Blade's Edge: but

Kyle: That's the range. What does that mean?

The Blade's Edge: That means up to 30 feet, normal roll. um Which this is thing is probably exactly 30 feet away. So you're you're good on normal roll.

Kyle: Okay, good.

The Blade's Edge: Up to 120, you could still throw at disadvantage, and then past 120, you would not be able to hit a target.

Kyle: Heard chef first roll coming in. That's going to be a 24.

Kyle: Before nine damage.

The Blade's Edge: Nine piercing damage. Love that.

Kyle: One Javelin into the body of the rock.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: Alright, is that your turn?

Kyle: Second attack.

The Blade's Edge: Second attack. Throwing a second javelin. Fuck these javelins.

Kyle: Second Javelin has hit the towers 23.

The Blade's Edge: That hits.

Doc: Bye.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, that hits.

Kyle: ah For six damage.

The Blade's Edge: Six damage takes this thing into bloodied territory.

Kyle: I'm goaded. That's going my ah turn, I think.

Vesz'rak: I'm gonna kill that bird.

The Blade's Edge: All right. At the top of the next round, first and foremost, this thing is going to this way and then make U-turn.

Trevor: I have another vortex warp ready.

The Blade's Edge: 20, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, 45.

Vesz'rak: Is he gonna go inverted?

The Blade's Edge: it's gonna go it's gonna go this way and then make a u-turn and twenty thirty thirty five before

The Blade's Edge: It's going to this way. As it does, and it makes this U-turn, its head turns around to Saan and makes a beak attack at you on its back.

Vesz'rak: Oh, come on!

The Blade's Edge: ah This is a plus 13 to hit.

Vesz'rak: We're speaking the same language.

Kyle: my fucking god.

The Blade's Edge: That's a 31 to hit.

Vesz'rak: ah Yeah.

Doc: Probably not. I mean...

Vesz'rak: For sure, for sure, for sure, for sure.

The Blade's Edge: um as As this thing pecks you directly in the face, you take 31 points of piercing damage.

Trevor: Meets it beats it.

Vesz'rak: Oh, shit!

Kyle: yeah oh

Vesz'rak: ah Wait, we're still up, we're still up, we're still up, we're still we're still up. Hey, everyone, everybody relax.

Doc: What?

Doc: Holy...

Vesz'rak: Everybody chill

The Blade's Edge: are You are still up, but this thing is going to head back towards the bridge. And I will say, Stahl the Dock and Bash, I need the two of you to roll straws.

Doc: Yeah, I'm throwing my D20 out.

Vesz'rak: out! Oh, Brian, here...

Doc: Three, two, one, go.

Vesz'rak: Sorry.

Kyle: I'm not even worried. Fuck.

The Blade's Edge: All right, Bash. So Bash, as it reaches your your destination, um this is where Dasan, i will need i will give it I will leave it up to you.

Doc: You should be worried.

The Blade's Edge: You may make a dexterity saving throw to stay on this thing, or you can make a strength saving throw to hold on to this thing. The DC for either one of those things is going to be 15.

Kyle: Wait, we have a fucking... we have a we have a guy.

Vesz'rak: Yeah. Hey, Brian, watch this.

The Blade's Edge: Yes.

Vesz'rak: Strength saving throw.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, I'm watching.

Vesz'rak: Plus two to the save. Bonus.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Sorry. Strength save. Plus five.

The Blade's Edge: Yes. Okay.

Vesz'rak: Plus two.

The Blade's Edge: Even better.

Vesz'rak: Seven. i can do math. 22. 22. 22.

Kyle: What?

Trevor: What?

Vesz'rak: twenty two twenty two

Kyle: What did he just say?

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, what?

Doc: What the hell?

The Blade's Edge: Put from plus two to plus seven real quick.

Doc: Fucking Galileo over here calculating the fucking stars.

Trevor: He's just throwing out numbers.

Vesz'rak: got

The Blade's Edge: Nice. so

Trevor: but

Kyle: ah

Doc: What the hell?

Vesz'rak: No, the strength is plus five and I have plus two on saves because I'm a paladin.

Doc: ge

Vesz'rak: It's totaled seven. I get it. Hey, 22. on it, baby. twenty two i'm on a baby

The Blade's Edge: So, alright. So, Dasan, you are able to hold on to this thing.

Trevor: ah

The Blade's Edge: This thing is going to make an attack at Bash and then move through regardless. So, if it misses the attack, Bash, you'll get an opportunity attack, as will your Eldritch Cannon if it can take Reaction Stalvodok, as will ah Valentine.

The Blade's Edge: But, let's see if it grabs you, Bash.

Doc: Good question.

The Blade's Edge: It's plus 13 to hit.

Kyle: You know what's insane? It literally- there's no way for it to not hit me.

Vesz'rak: Don't say that.

The Blade's Edge: Natural 20.

Kyle: OHHHHH!

Vesz'rak: ah

Kyle: Okay, I'm- I'm using a luck point to impose disadvantage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. Here is...

Kyle: I just don't want the fucking crit.

Vesz'rak: but flash of flash Flashback to Bash saying, you know what?

Kyle: Oh my god.

Trevor: Yeah.

Kyle: Dude.

The Blade's Edge: yes Yeah, yeah

Vesz'rak: I'm not raging this combat.

Trevor: Oh, yeah.

Kyle: Now I'm mad.

The Blade's Edge: yeah. Reroll. 10, which is a 23. Okay.

Trevor: oh yeah

Kyle: Yeah, that's fine.

The Blade's Edge: yeah So as the claw, as the talon hits you, you take...

The Blade's Edge: 21 points of... ah Is it piercing or slashing? ah Slashing damage.

Kyle: That would have been doubled?

The Blade's Edge: That would have been yeah would've been doubled, yeah. Just the dice, not the 9.

Vesz'rak: It

Kyle: Good god.

The Blade's Edge: That would have been 8 and 6 plus 9.

Kyle: Or...

The Blade's Edge: um You take 21 points of damage not halved because you're not raging. um It has you in its talents. It flies over here with the sun on its back, and it drops you as you begin to fall 500 feet.

Kyle: I love that.

Vesz'rak: it

Kyle: love that, guys.

The Blade's Edge: Valentine is going to spend another first level reaction. He's not going to take the opportunity attack. He's instead going to use his reaction to burn his second to last first level spell.

Trevor: Nice.

The Blade's Edge: He only has second level spells and one first level left to cast Featherfall on you. um he takes out a small a feather. Each time this happens, he that has a feather in his component pouch.

The Blade's Edge: He goes, okay, I'll get hit or use this.

Vesz'rak: ah

The Blade's Edge: up Okay, you're going to it he use this. And you begin to you begin to fall, but you're falling 60 feet ah per round instead of 500.

The Blade's Edge: And when you hit the ground, you will not take fall damage because of feather fall. That is the rock's turn.

Kyle: Rock on.

Vesz'rak: Hey, Bri, before I forget, I need to make a con save for his.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. Yeah, make that con save The DC for that con save is a 15. Good. That

Vesz'rak: Come on, baby. 18.

Doc: ah Oh, you're exhausted.

Vesz'rak: Hey,

The Blade's Edge: would have been bad because when you lose concentration on haste, stunned.

Trevor: Yeah, that may have been worth using one of those port and rolls.

Vesz'rak: I know. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: Like, nice.

Vesz'rak: I was going to use it.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: Okay, nice.

Vesz'rak: For sure.

The Blade's Edge: um He is just going to go ahead and make a Ray of Frost attack on his turn, Ridley Valentine, which will reduce the thing's speed by 10 feet. so ah And it'll do 2d8 cold damage if he hits.

The Blade's Edge: He hits with a 24. I don't know why that rolled to me and not you guys, but 24 for 10 points of cold damage.

Vesz'rak: you

The Blade's Edge: And although this thing lives up in the mountains, it is not resistant to cold damage. It takes the 10. Its speed is reduced by 10. That is his turn. Inabi, you are up.

Trevor: All right, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna

Trevor: fucking... 25 feet. How far is he? Nice. I can do this at second level again, I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Another vortex warp.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, is this for Bash to be on the back of it now?

Trevor: ah Well, no, I don't know if Bash wants to be on the back of the bird.

Doc: He may have no choice.

Kyle: i mean, I don't want to be falling, that's for sure.

Vesz'rak: classic Classic normal guy versus crazy guy reaction to this situation.

Doc: i I was just envisioning that scene in my head.

Trevor: yeah yeah if i If I lock eyes with Bash, does it look like he wants to be on the bird? Or does he want to get away from the bird?

Doc: He's doing the complete opposite face that fucking Tommy was doing.

Trevor: yeah Please, please, please, please.

Vesz'rak: Nassad doesn't think he's doing it but he's actually doing like really crazy eyes like he hasn't blinked to this whole combat.

Doc: Get me out of here.

Trevor: yeah

Doc: Get me out of here.

Kyle: You know what? Keep me on the bird.

Trevor: Oh, you're going on the bird?

Vesz'rak: Oh, we're going bird boys.

Trevor: Let's fucking...

Kyle: I'm playing Monster Hunter now dude, get me on the bird.

Trevor: Let's fucking go. I'm so down. i' Yeah, I'll try and I'll send him up there next to, a next to this on.

Doc: Are you, though? Are you, though?

Kyle: i mean I still- i have Feather Falling, yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, so if you fall off the back of it, you'll still be falling slowly.

Kyle: i I've never fell off. Remember that.

Doc: Hell yeah.

Trevor: All right. He's going on the bird.

The Blade's Edge: He's on the back.

The Blade's Edge: um And is that your turn? sir.

Trevor: Um, 25, 30, 35. five thirty thirty five

Trevor: Yep.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, that is your turn. Stal the Doc, did we do, did you introduce yourself and your character?

Doc: Yeah, I did.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, you did. Okay, I think i think maybe we I forgot to ask Ash.

Kyle: Oh, I didn't. Yeah, I didn't introduce myself.

The Blade's Edge: That's okay, that's that's on me, that's on me. But you are up, Stal the Doc.

Doc: Yeah, so I see now there are two of my homies on the rock, and I'm running towards this other part of this dilapidated bridge, and my arms start to glow fiery orange as I am firing off a scorching ray.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: um The first one is a 26 for seven fire damage.

The Blade's Edge: 26 hits. 7 fire damage.

Doc: ah The second one is 11, which we'll miss.

The Blade's Edge: It takes all that.

The Blade's Edge: Which will miss.

Doc: And then the third one is an 18. Okay, so for seven more damage.

The Blade's Edge: hits.

The Blade's Edge: okay Okay.

Doc: And then i am going to use my bonus action to fire off an additional bolt from my Eldritch Cannon, which is a 13, which won't hit it.

The Blade's Edge: 14 damage total.

The Blade's Edge: 13 misses. It's 15 AC.

Doc: te And then that's my action, my bonus action. um And I'm not going to use any movement. So that's my turn.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, that is your turn, which means, D'Saun, you have successfully held on to the back of this thing. Now, this thing is large, but now that Bash is on the back of it,

The Blade's Edge: There are two of you. So on its turn, your saving throw is to maintain being on the back of this thing. The DC is going to go up to 18 for both of you.

Vesz'rak: Oh.

Kyle: it.

Vesz'rak: Hey Bash, welcome aboard. um Perfect. Tell you what, Brian.

The Blade's Edge: Yes.

Vesz'rak: I'm going to vow of enmity this thing.

The Blade's Edge: Bonus action, Vow of Emnity.

Vesz'rak: it gives me advantage on swings as a bonus action.

The Blade's Edge: Love it.

Vesz'rak: With haste, I get three attacks. Right? Yeah, three attacks. All at advantage.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Yeah. Did you use your haste last turn?

Vesz'rak: i yeah I cast it on myself as an action, and then I and then i swung.

The Blade's Edge: Oh.

The Blade's Edge: Right. Oh, okay. So you actually should have only gotten one attack last turn. That's okay, though. That's okay.

Vesz'rak: Oh, my mistake. ah

The Blade's Edge: Haste doesn't give you your full action. it just gives you one extra attack.

Vesz'rak: It's using one attack. Then we can, ill I can take one off of this turn then.

The Blade's Edge: Cool.

Vesz'rak: I want to, yeah, i want to be fair.

The Blade's Edge: Good.

Vesz'rak: Okay, so two attacks at advantage.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Two attacks at advantage. Love it.

Vesz'rak: I screwed it up. Hey, my bad. First time spellcaster, second time caller.

The Blade's Edge: That's right. You guys are doing great.

Vesz'rak: ah First attack. At advantage. 13. thirteen Not going to do it. At advantage. 11. Not good. Okay.

Doc: use use Use one of the dice.

The Blade's Edge: First attack misses.

Doc: Use one of the dice.

Vesz'rak: I kind want to save it for a dire situation.

Doc: Tommy, describe your situation presently.

Vesz'rak: Alright, I'll use the 10. I'll use the 10 on the portent. Fine, I'll use the 10 on the For the attack, yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. I will, unless anybody vetoes that in the group, I'm marking it off.

Trevor: Huh?

The Blade's Edge: 19

Doc: No veto.

Kyle: Wait, you're using a 10? Oh, for a total of 19? Yeah.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: will hit.

Vesz'rak: Okay, 19.

Kyle: yeah

Vesz'rak: Two-handed.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: um already used my bonus action to Vow of Edmity, so I cannot smite. ah For... o 13 points of damage.

The Blade's Edge: It's only a seven if you were going two-handed. And somebody's phone is going crazy, yeah.

Vesz'rak: Oh, seven, sorry.

Doc: Somebody's phone's vibrating, just a heads up.

Vesz'rak: Sorry,

Vesz'rak: sorry that was my dad.

Trevor: I thought I was going nuts for a second.

Vesz'rak: No, that was me, that was me, sorry. It was right next to my mic. um Okay, first attack, second attack.

Kyle: Unreal.

Vesz'rak: What is wrong with me? I rolled three 11s in a row?

Kyle: Unreal.

The Blade's Edge: You rolled three twos.

Trevor: That's crazy.

The Blade's Edge: Three twos on the die in a row.

Vesz'rak: holy shit.

The Blade's Edge: Check in a tackle miss unless you use 15. All right,

Vesz'rak: I'm not going to use 15. I just look up at Bash.

Doc: That's...

Vesz'rak: I'm not blinking. Eyes are what wide wide open. and I you're up.

Doc: Remarkable.

Vesz'rak: i go you're up

Doc: ah

Trevor: yeah you

The Blade's Edge: Bash, you're on the back of this thing, and my mistake, go ahead and let people know who you are, who you're playing, and and then go ahead and tell us what your turn is.

Kyle: Um, yeah, yeah. What's up, Kyle G, KG, Cage, whatever you want to call me. Better known as Bash.

The Blade's Edge: rage

Kyle: Bash Bloodsinger, son of Kavan. Goat of, uh...

Kyle: Yeah, um, so I'm going to...

The Blade's Edge: yeah i'm ah hold on i'm all that i'm listening go to what i'm sorry i don't think i missed it i think right i think i must have missed something you said go and i just thought there was definitely something after that is that is that on me or oh okay

Kyle: sorry.

Trevor: I think you're you're thinking Phillip.

Kyle: Uh...

Kyle: Yeah, so I think I think I'm gonna attack. No, what I am gonna do. yeah, yeah. yeah um Also, I have a plus three when I rage now for melee damage.

Kyle: I think it was plus two before.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, that went up with ah level nine.

Kyle: That's so fire. um Yeah, I'm gonna rage because now I have consistent. ah Now I'm just on this dude. I'm gonna bonus action rage.

The Blade's Edge: yeah Love it.

Kyle: Mad as hell. Took 40, no, 20 points of damage. Fine, not even breaking a sweat.

Kyle: Uh... Yeah, I'm swinging. Hey, guys.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, swing away.

Kyle: Hey, guys.

The Blade's Edge: Net true is you got brutal critical.

Trevor: Let's go.

Kyle: Hey, I'm online.

Doc: My man, my man.

Vesz'rak: Are you standing up? You standing up?

Doc: was going to say, if you're the goat of anything, it's your rolling multiple crits back to back.

Kyle: That is true. Um...

The Blade's Edge: So you add, think it might do it for you. d and D beyond special. If you just click that, but we'll see.

Kyle: Yeah, so I'm going yeah, let me, I just click the great X

The Blade's Edge: Because it's it's it's a d twelve and then the critical is another d12, and then the savage attacks and brutal critical is 2d12. So it's 4d12 plus 7, and it did do that for a total of 37 points of damage.

Trevor: Oh yeah.

Kyle: here.

Doc: Yeah.

Doc: It did.

The Blade's Edge: Shoo!

Doc: G-Gunk!

Kyle: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back. I'm thinking I'm bash.

Doc: oh Oh...

Kyle: Um, cool.

The Blade's Edge: Bedbash from beyond? Sorry.

Trevor: Oh shit.

The Blade's Edge: No, and I'm sorry.

Kyle: That's fine.

The Blade's Edge: I am sorry. yeah

Trevor: Don't be, that was good.

Kyle: No, you don't have to apologize.

The Blade's Edge: Well, I am.

Kyle: Um, yeah, I mean, I'm no stranger to getting multiple natural 20s in a row.

Kyle: Dude, it was so close.

The Blade's Edge: Oh, my God.

Kyle: It was so close.

Doc: Oh, God.

Vesz'rak: Ha ha ha ha ha!

Trevor: Damn.

Kyle: Um, 25 to hit.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. Twenty-fourth.

Kyle: Dude, it hit the edge. Like, if it wasn't on the edge, I think it would have rolled over to a 20.

The Blade's Edge: Twenty-fourth.

Kyle: Um...

The Blade's Edge: Roll that damage, baby.

Kyle: Ooh, you... Wait. You know what it didn't account for? Because it doesn't know that I'm raging is the plus 3 damage.

The Blade's Edge: Oh, nice. So you did 40. Just a quick, even 40 damage on your first wing.

Kyle: 40 damage?

Kyle: Yeah, and then that's gonna be 8 Well, 11 more damage.

The Blade's Edge: 11 more. Nice.

Kyle: um

The Blade's Edge: 51 points of damage.

Kyle: Damn, I could have broken broken the record, but unfortunately I'm not frenzying.

The Blade's Edge: Crazy.

The Blade's Edge: Ah, that's like okay. You used your bonus action to rage this turn anyway.

Kyle: Correct.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, put my hand on your shoulder and go, next time.

Kyle: Okay.

Vesz'rak: i um I imagine we're both like – I know we're both on the back of this f rock, but I imagine I'm sitting backwards and Bash is sitting forward so we're facing each other. that that that like

Trevor: That's so funny.

Vesz'rak: like That's how I'm imagining this in my head.

Kyle: ah

Trevor: I love that so much.

Vesz'rak: so i So I put my hand on his shoulder and I go, go get him next time. But also –

Trevor: Just have like ah your sword, you're just poking at him.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, we're both like stabbing in between our legs.

Trevor: just

Trevor: yeah

Trevor: So what do you think we're going to find after this?

Vesz'rak: ah you think we can take this to Ravenloft with us?

Trevor: Just digging in this thing's back.

Kyle: I should have attempted i wish I had like speak with animal speak with animals like a domesticated or something

Trevor: Oh shit, that'd be crazy.

The Blade's Edge: um As this thing makes another Yui, I need both of you to make either strength save or dexterity saving throws to maintain on the back of this thing or begin falling.

The Blade's Edge: The DC is now 18 because there are two of you.

Vesz'rak: Oh god, okay. You have plus two to that save?

Vesz'rak: you get plus two. You get plus two the save. You plus two the save.

Kyle: Wait, why do I get plus two?

The Blade's Edge: It is.

Vesz'rak: Because you're next to me. You're next to me.

The Blade's Edge: He has a paladin aura.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, am i paladed my my sunlight aura.

Kyle: Oh.

Trevor: Fire.

Vesz'rak: Okay, now I'm praying that...

The Blade's Edge: you do By the way, Kyle, that is a strength save, so i don't know if your strength save is higher than just your strength check.

Vesz'rak: Oh,

Kyle: Oh!

The Blade's Edge: Strength saving throw.

Kyle: Oh! I got a fucking plus nine to this shit on my save.

Vesz'rak: nice.

Kyle: Plus five.

The Blade's Edge: Nice. So you would have gotten a 21 plus 223. You maintain.

Vesz'rak: Sorry. Okay. Strength check, right?

The Blade's Edge: Strength save, or dexterity saving throw.

Vesz'rak: Strength save.

Trevor: That's actually crazy that you just rolled seven.

Vesz'rak: Okay.

Trevor: in both

Vesz'rak: I'm going to do... um Call me crazy. I'm going to do a dex save because I have advantage because of haste on dexterity saving throws.

The Blade's Edge: Cool.

Vesz'rak: So call me nuts.

The Blade's Edge: Great.

Trevor: Oh yeah!

The Blade's Edge: Smart. Smart.

Vesz'rak: Okay. First roll.

Kyle: You a min-max over

Vesz'rak: plus Plus two.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: No, I'm just reading my character sheet. Hey, how's it going? It's like session 24. Okay.

Kyle: here.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: I think that, yeah, that's the opposite of a man.

Vesz'rak: ah

The Blade's Edge: That is somebody being like, Oh, I'm actually paying attention to what the rules of my guy are.

Doc: Yeah.

Kyle: ah

Vesz'rak: Okay, okay, first roll.

The Blade's Edge: I love it.

Vesz'rak: 22, don't even need it.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: Let's go!

The Blade's Edge: Nice.

Kyle: Unreal.

The Blade's Edge: Don't even need it. You guys both maintain on the back of this thing as it wheels back around. And as it comes at you, Stalvodok, I think you guys are maybe realizing at this moment that while you are certainly on track to kill this thing, the only other option for this would have been, let's get off the bridge as this thing is only attacking people on the bridge.

The Blade's Edge: um you get the sense that if, yeah, when you're off the bridge, this thing maybe maybe would have gone away as it's not even paid attention to Inabi, Valentine, Philip, Syla.

Doc: defending its bridge.

The Blade's Edge: um But it comes back towards the bridge, and as its head turns around, it is going to make a beak attack on either Bosh or Dasan. I need you guys to roll straws.

Kyle: Boss.

Doc: Bosh!

Vesz'rak: oh

Trevor: but

Vesz'rak: Oh, hey, hey, look, like, okay, I know, I know we were talking about the low roll king.

Kyle: Boss.

Trevor: you

Doc: Bing bang bosh, you know what I'm saying?

The Blade's Edge: was about that TV show, Bosh. Remember that, Isha?

Doc: What save am i doing? Oh, okay.

The Blade's Edge: You're not doing anything yet.

Vesz'rak: I know we were talking about who was the low roll king, but Baxter, I never needed anything from you in my life.

The Blade's Edge: don't know what this Giffith I just found, but that's cracking me up.

Vesz'rak: I need you to roll so, I need you to roll so much lower than me.

The Blade's Edge: Alright,

Trevor: Boss.

Kyle: Um...

The Blade's Edge: let's draw Strage for the beak.

Kyle: I mean, the problem is I'm locked in right now. So...

Vesz'rak: Oh

Doc: ah Oh, shit.

The Blade's Edge: D20 roll.

Kyle: How... Okay, how many hit points do you have?

Doc: Oh, no.

Vesz'rak: no. and I'm standing up for a low roll. I'm just going to roll it.

The Blade's Edge: Roll

Vesz'rak: Low roll wins. Come on. We're playing golf now. Please don't give me a nat 20 for the love of God.

Doc: and

The Blade's Edge: that

Vesz'rak: Shoot!

Kyle: I mean, i Do you want...

Doc: ah

Vesz'rak: Shoot!

Kyle: I can use a luck point to make sure you...

Vesz'rak: Use it. Please use it. I don't know. Hey.

Trevor: Or wait, actually, you could use that port and...

Kyle: Wait a minute. Wait, you're... He's attacking me, is he not?

Vesz'rak: No, we're rolling.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. Yeah, he attacks the low roll, the same as the guys on the bridge.

Vesz'rak: Oh, I thought...

Trevor: Oh.

Vesz'rak: Oh, okay, sorry.

The Blade's Edge: he' Whoever rolls lowest, he's attacking.

Vesz'rak: i oh my I'm sweating. Sorry.

The Blade's Edge: um

Trevor: what

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, his...

Kyle: This dude has lost his damn mind.

Doc: Tommy's like 45 minutes into the bar exam realizing he didn't study.

The Blade's Edge: And he nat ones on the beak attack.

Trevor: Holy shit.

Kyle: It's so fucking sad because it still hits me.

Vesz'rak: I'm gonna...

Doc: Oh...

Vesz'rak: I'm gonna throw up.

The Blade's Edge: ah No, Nat1's auto-miss.

Vesz'rak: yeah

Kyle: Oh, hell yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Does not miss.

Trevor: but

The Blade's Edge: Does not matter what the plus is to that. It's an auto-miss.

Kyle: um

The Blade's Edge: on ah ah Yeah, it doesn't matter He could have a plus 30, but if he rolls a natural one, that is a failure.

Kyle: that ah Is that D&D rules or is that...

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, same.

Kyle: ah Okay, cool.

The Blade's Edge: That is called a critical failure. A natural 20 is a critical success.

Kyle: Yeah, get fucked, bird.

The Blade's Edge: However, the only homebrew that I do that most DMs do is that technically rules is written a natural 20 on an, ah on an ability check is not an auto crit and auto success.

The Blade's Edge: It's only an auto crit on an attack role.

Kyle: Gotcha.

The Blade's Edge: However, me and many other DMs out there will say, like, if you're rolling a history check and you natural 20, you get all the information, even if you're plus. If the DC was, let's say, 25 and you got a natural 20 with a plus zero, I would still give it to you, whereas rules as written, you would not get it.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Kyle: gotcha

Doc: and likeam

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so beak attack misses, and then it's got blood in its eyes. It turns out it makes a beak attack into the air, and you can see that it can barely see you guys. It will make a talent attack on Stall of a Dock.

Doc: Greetings! You are not a werewolf.

The Blade's Edge: ah This is 16 to hit.

Doc: ah It does not hit with my 19 armor class.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. So it miss it it it passes by, which also gives you an opportunity attack.

Kyle: Damn.

The Blade's Edge: Stall the dock.

Doc: And I will punch it again. um Or actually, let's see, I want to try to high five D'Saan.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: ah Yeah, i'm I'm flying backwards, so I'm reaching down backwards.

Doc: Okay.

Doc: Okay, here comes. Here comes. That's a 24 to high five.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, I mean, that'll be my AC for sure.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. You successfully high five.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, you rolled a natural 19 on the

Doc: That's all I wanted to do.

Kyle: Hell yeah. A thunderous clap echoes throughout this canyon.

Vesz'rak: yeah

Trevor: Thunder damage?

The Blade's Edge: Um, I will, I will say, so here's what's going to happen. He's going to make a Valentine's going to make another Ray of frost roll 17 hits for 12.

The Blade's Edge: This thing is still up, but I will give you some information here. Um, I think you guys all see this and not be before you go, this thing is not going to make another yeah U-turn. You get the sense that it is looking up in the mountains towards where it came from and it's headed back there.

Vesz'rak: Where did it, and and it came from the Amber Temple or just peak?

The Blade's Edge: don't know. I mean, i just came from somewhere higher up in the mountain and it being so low on hit points, you get the sense.

Vesz'rak: or a just a peek

Trevor: He's just trying to get out of here.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. It's not going to U-turn again and come back and attack. It is now booking it. So you guys on the back have a decision to make at that point.

Trevor: Cool.

The Blade's Edge: It would totally up to you about a knobby. You are up first and then Stalvadak and then the guys on the back. So.

Trevor: Okay. um Yep. Heard chef of five.

Doc: It's my day off, bro. Don't go call me chef.

Trevor: 35, I'll go 35 feet to here.

The Blade's Edge: And where is here?

Trevor: um

The Blade's Edge: Well.

Trevor: um I'm moving onto the bridge. um I'm getting closer to the burb.

The Blade's Edge: well

Trevor: um Seeing him dip, I'm going to look. Well, actually, I'll look at Doc and just be like, yo, you got the other one if I pull one of them back.

Doc: You look in my eyes and you see nothing but two orange fireballs. So

Trevor: So, yeah

Doc: that's a no, that's that's a no.

Trevor: shit. um Let's see. um Who, does somebody, if I look up there, does it look like,

Trevor: well, Dasan, do you have a way to get yourself, do you have any sort of way to get yourself back on the bridge?

Vesz'rak: ah Yeah, I can, I mean, I can misty step.

Trevor: Like, if you... were Okay, okay, cool. Then I will use my... I think it's my last second level spell. um Yes. My last second level spell slot to cast Vortex Warp on Bosh and bring him...

Kyle: Oh, hell Yeah, I go wherever the wind takes me.

Trevor: I'll send him up towards the end of the bridge. Yeah,

Trevor: yeah like over that direction. Right at the...

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Trevor: Right at the end of the bridge.

The Blade's Edge: Then are you a willing, ah participant?

Vesz'rak: Thank you.

The Blade's Edge: All right. Monsieur, you can go ahead and put your token, over there, wherever he said to you, he vortexed for you too.

Kyle: ah So like up here.

The Blade's Edge: Um,

Trevor: yep

Kyle: Perfect.

The Blade's Edge: All right. as you As you do that, you're no longer on the back of this thing as it is flying ah northward, attempting to go up the mountain. um Is that your turn, Anabi?

Trevor: Uh, I'm just gonna have the my owl come and catch up with me.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. Out of the trees, up to you. Stalvodok, you are up.

Doc: All right, I run to the other side of the bridge, looking at the rock as it flies by with Dasan and and Bash on it. and as bash yeah And as Bash gets Vortex warped off back to the bridge, I lock eyes with Dasan.

The Blade's Edge: Bash is no longer on it.

Vesz'rak: Still haven't blinked.

Doc: Are you in Carnage mode? Are you in Carnage mode?

The Blade's Edge: his eyes are His eyes are tearing up because he has not blinked.

Vesz'rak: yeah

Doc: As this thing starting to flow to fly away, I put both of my arms together and it starts to emanate with this big orange glow of magical energy. And just like Genos in One Punch Man, I am firing off a fireball in this thing's trajectory, but like up here.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: It will hit D'Saun. I'll tell you that much. D'Saun is on this thing. If it's hitting the thing, it'll hit D'Saun.

Doc: okay.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Doc: um Well,

The Blade's Edge: There's no way, unless you have Sculpt spell, which is something that certain wizards have to carve out little pockets.

Vesz'rak: Do it.

Doc: Well, it has a blast radius, so if it's in the radius, but that's okay.

The Blade's Edge: He is...

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, but he's on it.

Vesz'rak: Do it.

The Blade's Edge: So if if it's in the radius, he's in the radius.

Doc: Sure. Sure, sure. um Okay, then I'm just going to cast Vortex Warp and bring you home.

Vesz'rak: that was going swing.

Doc: Well, I would kill you.

Vesz'rak: but

Doc: ah

Trevor: you could i should have You could do a, ah if if you wanted to, which I could have done with Bash, you could hold you could hold the action if you wanted to wait until D'Saun swings or something.

Kyle: All right.

Doc: You would just immediately die, so we got to do the boring action. That's okay.

The Blade's Edge: Well, I don't think it's boring.

Trevor: And then once he swings, Vortex Warp goes off.

Vesz'rak: Oh.

Doc: Yeah, we can do that.

Trevor: if you I could have done that with Bash too.

Doc: That sounds cool. No, that sounds cool.

Trevor: i just for I just didn't even realize until afterwards, but that could be fun.

Doc: Yeah, I don't usually hold actions, so yeah, we can do that.

Kyle: and

Trevor: I know, me neither.

The Blade's Edge: Sure, you can.

Doc: you're You're next in the initiative order, Tommy, so yeah, I'll hold the action to see if you get one more lick in, see if you can take this thing down.

The Blade's Edge: Sure, you can also hold your action to your use your fireball if he Misty steps off of it.

Vesz'rak: oh

Doc: Yeah, I didn't think about him missy-stepping.

The Blade's Edge: And that way, I'm not the bad guy who didn't let you do your fun thing.

Doc: No, no, no, no, not at all. No, that's fine. um

Vesz'rak: but Come on, come on, come on. but Kyle, cool guys don't look at explosions. Fireball it after I leave.

Doc: I want ah want to explode. Yeah, okay. I'll fireball after you, Misty. Step off then, Tommy.

Vesz'rak: Deal, deal.

Doc: Because that's the that's the battle plan.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. So you can go ahead and click you can click the spell slot, because as you hold a spell, ah it is used.

Doc: It's used.

The Blade's Edge: So you hold a fireball. ah Any other action for you?

Doc: um I'll use my bonus action for my turret.

The Blade's Edge: Sure.

Doc: So we'll fire that out. That's going to be an 18.

The Blade's Edge: That hits.

Vesz'rak: He doesn't miss.

Doc: We're doing... 3d8. 10 damage. Real low rolls from Mr.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. 10 damage.

Doc: Cannon today.

The Blade's Edge: Is that your turn?

Doc: ah I am going to move to brace my back against the um the side of the bridge here for my fireball.

The Blade's Edge: All

The Blade's Edge: right, Dasan, you were on the back of this thing. Fireball is coming.

Vesz'rak: Hey, ah so question about order of operations with haste. Do I go action, action, haste, or can I go action-haste action, haste, action? Because I want a Misty Step, but Rulis is written with haste. I can only take the attack action, no bonus actions with haste.

The Blade's Edge: You still have a bonus action. Your bonus action just can't be a haste.

Vesz'rak: Ah, okay, got it.

The Blade's Edge: ah You gain one additional action on your turn.

Vesz'rak: so

The Blade's Edge: So you still have your action. You still have your bonus action. You still have your reaction. But you get an additional action, which can only be used to take the attack action, which is one weapon attack only, dash, disengage, hide, or use an object.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, yeah.

Vesz'rak: I just want to make sure that I can swing, swing, swing, Misty Step away.

The Blade's Edge: You can.

Vesz'rak: Okay. right, so add advantage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Sun Sword out.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Two hands.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Cool guys don't look at explosions. First one. 28 on the first one.

The Blade's Edge: That'll hit, but see if you crit.

Doc: Boom.

Vesz'rak: And then that one. Perfect.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, first one hits. It's

Vesz'rak: um How many... Oh yeah, I'm going to save a second level spell slot, so... Boom!

Doc: We have that second dice too, right?

The Blade's Edge: six.

Vesz'rak: Six. ah I'm going to pump a...

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: I'm going to pump a first level smite into him.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: For... 11 damage.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. Two more attacks at advantage.

Vesz'rak: Second swing. 18. 23.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: eighteen

The Blade's Edge: Hits.

Vesz'rak: and twenty three

The Blade's Edge: Hits.

Vesz'rak: um So I can smite and then on the next one i can Misty Step Away. Alright.

The Blade's Edge: You have three attacks. This is your second attack.

Vesz'rak: Alright. So 8.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: First level smite.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: Pumping. 11. Is he still up?

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: He's still up. Yeah.

Doc: He's still up.

Vesz'rak: God, this guy is beefy.

Doc: ah

The Blade's Edge: Super BV.

Vesz'rak: ah Okay, last one.

The Blade's Edge: Rocks are no joke.

Vesz'rak: Okay, add advantage.

The Blade's Edge: It's like if you if you know what a rock is, the minute i would have described this thing coming towards you, you'd be like, oh fuck.

Vesz'rak: 23 8 damage.

The Blade's Edge: The benefit of not knowing. Love it. Still up.

Doc: Let's go.

Vesz'rak: I gotta get out of here. So I start, so i I'm backwards on this rock.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. Mm-hmm.

Vesz'rak: After I stab into it, I use my sword to stand myself up it and I'm like running towards the back of it. And I'm like jumping off, ah skydiver style, and I snap my fingers to Misty Step to the Bridge.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, you miss sift the bridge, the fireball goes off. This thing has 16 health left.

Vesz'rak: Oh, rats!

Doc: Ooh. All

The Blade's Edge: Go ahead and roll your fireball, of which it will take all of it.

Doc: all right. Let's see. Fireball eight d six

Doc: 23.

Trevor: Holy shit.

Kyle: Nice.

Doc: Ooh, just barely.

The Blade's Edge: fire damage.

Vesz'rak: Ooh.

The Blade's Edge: Why don't you go ahead and let us know how your fireball kills the rock?

Doc: um Yeah, it's basically just like a railgun of fire. Just e ah blast right through it.

The Blade's Edge: I blast right through it as this thing begins to fall after the fireball hits it.

Doc: explodes.

The Blade's Edge: It is featherless. You see a skinned bird, just the skin of a massive monstrosity falling from the air, dwindling before it eventually ah crashes 500 feet river into the river below

Doc: it's our first dragon. Fucking sick.

The Blade's Edge: Well done, lads.

Kyle: great.

The Blade's Edge: ah Very good. um Everybody okay?

Vesz'rak: yeah i'm ah on my back Yeah, I'm on my on my back staring up so and sort my hand shield on my back just going.

Doc: Tell me, how much health do you have?

Kyle: and um great

Vesz'rak: I have not blinked still. Just still super wide open. and Still under the hay spell. I'm like, I'm at 4 HP. four h p

Trevor: jesus Christ.

The Blade's Edge: Jesus. Jesus Christ, man. Well, listen, we are almost there. i can see the entrance to the Ember Temple ahead. Would you like to rest for an hour before we continue?

Vesz'rak: Yeah, at least a fiver, at least. At least a fiver.

Doc: At least.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, let's get off. Let's get off the bridge.

Doc: Yo, let me get you a Gatorade, bro.

Trevor: Yeah, let's let's get to the other end.

The Blade's Edge: Let's get off the bridge.

Doc: Let me get you a Gatorade.

Trevor: You're not you and you're hungry.

Kyle: I mean, I'm at 92, so...

The Blade's Edge: Yes, let me... I need to recover some of my arcane energy.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, for sure, for sure.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: Ah.

The Blade's Edge: And I'm you guys take a short rest. He's going use our game recovery to get back a up to a fifth.

Doc: Hell yeah.

The Blade's Edge: But I still have he's still got his staff, which is very powerful. So we use that for a fourth.

Vesz'rak: I think I'm just going to use...

Doc: I think Tommy, you just soaked all the damage like a good boy.

Vesz'rak: yeah the guy did

Trevor: Oh, wait, you know what? might arcane recovery as well. A couple of those second levels back.

Doc: i would love to see that scene of Tommy wanting to be Vortex Warp

The Blade's Edge: you should.

Doc: Ash being like, get me out of here.

Trevor: Yeah, one's nodding yes, and the other one's shaking his head.

Vesz'rak: Oh man, I used all my... You know what? I'm gonna use the rest of my... late Not the rest, but I used all my hit dice to heal. then I'm gonna use the rest of my lay on hands.

Vesz'rak: Like six points. To heal.

The Blade's Edge: cool.

Vesz'rak: Eight more points to me, and I'm at full HP again, baby.

The Blade's Edge: All right.

Vesz'rak: Alright, we're so back.

The Blade's Edge: Uh,

Doc: Ha ha ha.

The Blade's Edge: as an hour passes, the cold is starting to sort of nip at you guys. It is, you know, it's very cold up on our, um, uh, up on this, the top of this mountain where it is snowing, um, the hour passes and, uh,

The Blade's Edge: Ridley says, right. ah we ah we Are we all ready to go? It is just ahead. I see it.

Vesz'rak: ah Alright, shall we? i pull my shield off my back, Sun Sword activated.

Kyle: I'm ready. right.

Doc: Hell yeah. I think my turret um only lasts for how long? An hour. It disappears.

Doc: Sweet. So I don't have a turret for the day. Just a heads up.

Kyle: we be

The Blade's Edge: Okay. You guys continue on and you eventually come to the um

The Blade's Edge: Outside of the Amber Temple, the road fades away under a covering of snow, but it takes you far enough to see the facade of some kind of temple carved into the sheer mountainside ahead.

The Blade's Edge: The front of the structure is 50 feet high and has six alcoves containing 20 foot tall statues in each alcove. Each statue is carved from a single block of amber and depicts a faceless, hooded figure, its hands pressed together in a gesture of prayer.

The Blade's Edge: Between the two innermost statues is a 20-foot-tall archway with a staircase leading inward and downward.

Doc: Okay, can I do a history check to see um if this like garb that they're in is known to me?

The Blade's Edge: have...

The Blade's Edge: Sure.

Trevor: Can I do the same thing? Do I recognize the faceless thing?

Doc: Ooh, that's a nat 20 history. Amber

The Blade's Edge: Sure.

Trevor: Oh, let's go.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you can do one as well, Anabi.

Vesz'rak: Let's go.

Doc: Temple, I know it all.

Trevor: Tain.

The Blade's Edge: um Anabi, you're not sure. They just kind of look like faceless hooded figures. But I will say, Anabi, as you are looking at them, ah they are you are filled with a sense of unease.

Doc: Ooh.

The Blade's Edge: ah creeping in the back of your mind.

Trevor: Hmm.

The Blade's Edge: I would also say, Enabi, just for you specifically, um do you have do you have like a locket or a medallion or anything ah since you from your and anything Osaibus related on you?

Trevor: Right, that's what I was trying to think of. I don't think so. um

The Blade's Edge: Cool.

Trevor: I think the only thing that I have is that ring that you gave me when I made this character, but I don't know if that was related or not.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Trevor: um

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, definitely was related. And I want you to go ahead, roll me a D6.

The Blade's Edge: This is, this is all, this is not related to the history check.

Trevor: Four.

The Blade's Edge: A four. Okay. Um,

The Blade's Edge: Okay. um Trevor, you're you're a creative guy. me and you both have tattoos. I want you to describe what it looks like as you look down at your ring and a tattoo manifests itself on your hand crawling up your arm.

The Blade's Edge: What it is and all of that can be totally up to you.

Trevor: Whoa.

Trevor: Um, Oh, you know what? It's probably,

Trevor: it's probably some sort of like snake design, um, that starts, it like grows from the ring.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Trevor: So like the tail wraps around like the the top of his finger and then the body of it kind of like wraps down by his on like the back of his hand and then around his wrist and then just starts like slithering kind of up his arm, i would say.

The Blade's Edge: Love that little tattoo of a snake appearing on your arm as you approach this temple and look at these statues that make you feel unease with a natural 20. The stall of a doc, you know, for certain that these things are meant to represent the faceless gods.

The Blade's Edge: So in the, the card that your party had told you about the seven of swords, the hooded one, um The hooded one, you're getting the sense, are these creatures, these hooded ones.

Doc: Oh, yeah.

The Blade's Edge: And you you remember them telling you that on this card, it was, I see a faceless god. He awaits you at the end of a long winding road deep in the mountains. These are meant to represent faceless gods. So they're not meant to represent anything in particular, but a bevy of faceless gods.

Trevor: Like various faceless gods.

Doc: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: um Various faceless gods.

Doc: Well, that seems like we're heading to the right place then.

The Blade's Edge: I think in addition, um

The Blade's Edge: you had probably heard from ah Van Richten and all of this stuff, ah some history about the Amber Temple, which I will sort of lore dump on you guys right now. um So buckle in for a little lore dump on a natural community history.

Doc: Dump it out.

Vesz'rak: All right, pencil out.

Doc: Yes, sir.

The Blade's Edge: Years ago, a long time ago, a secret society of good aligned wizards built the Amber Temple in the Balanoc Mountains more than 2,000 years ago.

The Blade's Edge: ah They needed a vault in which to contain ah the evil vestiges, so remnants of dead, malevolent entities, that they had captured, um and the horde of forbidden knowledge that those people had amassed.

The Blade's Edge: They dedicated the temple to a god of secrets, ah whom they trusted to keep it hidden from the rest of the world until the end of time. Unfortunately for those good aligned wizards, ah even the will of a god couldn't prevent other evil creatures from learning about the temple's location.

The Blade's Edge: ah The wizards were forced to guard the temple themselves to keep its secrets from falling into villainous hands. ah The evil forces that they had imprisoned within the temple eventually had corrupted these wizards um and they were never seen again.

Doc: Interesting. interesting So

Vesz'rak: So it's it's a prison.

The Blade's Edge: um At one point, the original intent of this place, 2,000 years ago, ah was to be a place to hide a vault to contain remnants of dead malevolent entities and the hoard of forbi and knowledge forbidden knowledge that they had amassed.

Doc: so it's a prison library, Tommy.

The Blade's Edge: ah But it's secret it being secretive and ah hidden and all of that stuff didn't last.

Vesz'rak: It's tracking.

The Blade's Edge: And the wizards who ah once guarded this place at a certain point were never seen from again.

Doc: We should be very careful in here.

Kyle: Jeez.

Vesz'rak: In a different life, I would have loved this place.

Kyle: That's heavy stuff.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, I think you even... do So do you share that information with them, Stalvodok?

Doc: Yeah, and then I also i look over at ah Valentine and think that it might have some significance to him being a very powerful spellcaster himself.

The Blade's Edge: He says, well, i I don't know much about this place. I've never visited here in my time, but so the rumor goes that Strahd once came here. Part of his power and who he is may originate from deep within this place.

The Blade's Edge: that is That is what the story says.

Doc: story says. Okay. Well, then we should head in.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, he's he's he's come here several times. sir I even remember my first foray into fighting him. I was trying to track him down and my search led me to the Slanka Pass where I witnessed Strahd coming back from this temple.

The Blade's Edge: So it is a place that he has visited ah frequently.

Doc: Oh, interesting. And as I learn all this information, I light a torch and place it just on my shoulder.

The Blade's Edge: Cool.

The Blade's Edge: um you guys, as you do that, with a natural 20 and with Anabi's sense of all this and sort of you guys having the Mad Mage with you at this point, I think as you guys approach and you get to sort of where your tokens are on this map at the front of this temple, I think all of you sense the presence of great evil

Kyle: And there's something we're looking for in this temple?

Trevor: Beautiful.

Doc: yeah Yeah, we're looking for the and an ally that's going to help us greatly in the battle against darkness.

Vesz'rak: Hmm.

Doc: It's the Taroka card that we've got.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you guys are not looking for an ally. You are looking for a like saror to up powerful force for good and protection, a holy symbol of great hope.

Doc: Faceless God, yeah.

Kyle: Why would something so good be hidden in something so evil?

The Blade's Edge: What a marvelous question. I imagine this place is...

Trevor: o

The Blade's Edge: Well, it's... it's Right, I mean, it's it sounds like its initial intent was secrets. A place to keep secrets. Knowledge, powerful knowledge, you know, maybe most of it's bad, but potentially some of it not bad.

The Blade's Edge: I'm not sure. But think about this. Bash. Bosh. It's Bash, right?

Kyle: Yes. Bash, bosh.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Trevor: Fish off.

Kyle: Mish, mosh.

The Blade's Edge: Yes, Pishposh. um Well, think about this. If you were me, right, and I come to this land too to fight Sol von Zervitz, to free the people of Barovia, and there's something that can help me, and he knows about it, could it not be that someone so powerful as Strahd would hide something

Vesz'rak: Hmm.

The Blade's Edge: The same way, Dishon, that they hid the Sunsword with you in your in your grave when you died. To keep it from others finding it.

The Blade's Edge: Could it not stand to reason, Bash, that if Strahd knew about this thing, he put it here. To hide it, to keep it safe from those who would seek it out and use it against him.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, who would wander up here?

Doc: and

Vesz'rak: Huh? Kind of spooky.

Kyle: makes a lot of sense.

Vesz'rak: Well,

Doc: well and we took out the vrock which is or the rock tommy

Vesz'rak: sorry, I got it. I got you. egg I'm cooking.

Doc: um got me with the rock um stands to reason that if other people wanted to venture up here in the future they would have far less of a deterrent if they knew ah thing wasn't defending the bridge so

Kyle: it seems that Strahd doesn't exactly know who he's dealing with.

Doc: yeah

Kyle: All the lightning, bitch.

Doc: ye Call the lightning. rock Rock rumblers.

Kyle: Rock rumblers.

Vesz'rak: and and with And with that, I guess um I'm going start the charge.

Doc: yeah

Vesz'rak: I'll go in first. I'm going to pop Divine Sense, Brian. Hold my Sunsword aloft for light, and I'll go in with the boys.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Doc: And I'll cast attack magic at first level as a ritual.

The Blade's Edge: All right.

Kyle: I'm ready.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so that'll take 10 minutes to do so you guys will wait outside for a bit.

Doc: Sure.

Doc: ah Yeah, that's cool with me.

Vesz'rak: I start walking in.

The Blade's Edge: Well,

Kyle: ah Okay.

Vesz'rak: I see Doc sit down.

Kyle: Like, oh, i guess we're not doing it.

Vesz'rak: I go, oh, okay.

Doc: Sorry.

Vesz'rak: I turn around. I go, okay, sorry.

The Blade's Edge: um Okay, so as you guys head in, I will go ahead and read you.

Trevor: I'm doing something.

Doc: I'm doing something. Also, um I don't know if you guys have your dark vision on, but my character doesn't have dark vision, so that's why I use the torch, Bri. um I can't see anything the blackness unless that's what everyone else sees.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. and ah towardsrch a torch will give you, you will emit, is it 30 feet?

Vesz'rak: i got a hundred and twenty feet baby

Doc: Hell yeah. 20 feet?

The Blade's Edge: What is it, 20?

Doc: think it's 20. Yeah, let me check the in.

The Blade's Edge: Is it a bright light or low light?

Doc: It's 20 feet of bright light and 20 additional feet of dim light.

The Blade's Edge: OK, so you should see the 20 feet now, and you should see the low light as well.

Doc: Yep, got it.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. And you guys should also, be you know, his token is now emitting that light.

Doc: Heck yeah.

The Blade's Edge: So if you don't have it, ah it might have increased the range that even you can see.

The Blade's Edge: um

Doc: Delightful.

The Blade's Edge: OK, so detect magic and a what did you say?

Vesz'rak: divine sense

The Blade's Edge: Fine sense. Okay, so... As you enter, icy steps descend ten feet to a time-ravaged hallway with arrow slits in the walls.

The Blade's Edge: Beyond the hall lies a vast sepulchral darkness.

The Blade's Edge: um With your divine sense, I think you get just a general... Um, what's the range on that?

Vesz'rak: It looks like it, i think it's 60 feet.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: and me take, oh.

The Blade's Edge: So from where you currently are, that would be...

Vesz'rak: Yeah, 60 feet.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so from where you're currently standing, you get a general, like, ping of just, like, evil from this place, ah but nothing within 60 feet of you. ah detect magic, ah similar.

The Blade's Edge: ah You get the... the presence of magic within this place. um I would say from where your current, where your token currently is, um there's magic within this place, but nothing pinging quite yet.

Vesz'rak: Got it. ah Well, I'll lead the charge. Shield up. I'll i'll go in.

The Blade's Edge: Gentlemen, I'm going to tie up Phillip and Scylla and leave them out here.

Vesz'rak: Okay.

Doc: Yeah, sure. We'll be back for him. Probably.

Vesz'rak: If only we had some sort of bag that could hold them. But they do have to breathe.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, you're not putting my my wife and child in a bag.

Vesz'rak: Look at... I'm already inside. Sorry. I can't see you.

Doc: Okay. They're tied up.

The Blade's Edge: you guys may continue.

Kyle: ah I got to walk in.

Vesz'rak: right. I'm going in.

The Blade's Edge: All right.

Doc: I'm following Bash.

The Blade's Edge: So, stall the dock. As you get to right in the middle of that hallway, your detect magic will ping that to the right, to the east...

The Blade's Edge: um you are getting a um magical uh ping from let me see exactly where it is to be okay from kind of like right on the other side of this wall that you're you see the arrow slits um in this wall for this this room right here um

Doc: Oh, those are arrow slits?

The Blade's Edge: ah

Doc: Cool.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, there's... Yep. The ice steps 1010 feet to a time-rider's hallway. The arrow slits in the walls. Beyond the hall lies the vast sepulchral darkness. You see the arrow slits on the right and left. The arrow slits on the right. You look and see that there's a look like a wall, like a room in there. There's no guards in there or anything.

The Blade's Edge: um ah Two arrow slits are carved into the west wall of this. So you're looking in from the hallway, which is the west part of that room. The room looks like it's 10 feet high, 20 foot square.

The Blade's Edge: And you are getting a ping of magic from inside that room.

Doc: Okay. um I relay that to the group and say we could maybe start by going right.

Kyle: you

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, there is no door. There's a wall with arrow slits.

Doc: I mean, the path to the north and then to the east.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah.

Vesz'rak: To the right. Yeah, I point my sunsore. I see the doors are cracked open to the east. I see something in there, but I can't really make out what it is. It looks like something in the ground, maybe.

Vesz'rak: and then I see some doorways to the west.

Vesz'rak: And I see a big statue to the north with a huge statue with his hands kind of together.

The Blade's Edge: Sure, so from where you're standing, you're standing on a sort of an overlook, just on your little bit further in.

Vesz'rak: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: You are on a 20-foot wide, geez, a 20-foot wide balcony of black marble. So as you guys enter this place, when you come down the icy steps,

The Blade's Edge: You are standing on sort of this very elegant, decadent black marble, like blacker than black marble. You look down at the floor and you're like, this is darkness beyond which I've ever seen.

Vesz'rak: Hmm.

Doc: Oh, freaky place.

The Blade's Edge: this

Vesz'rak: That's saying something.

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: This balcony has a shattered railing which overlooks a vast temple. ah Black marble staircases at each end of the balcony descend 30 feet towards the temple floor.

The Blade's Edge: ah The vaulted ceiling is 30 feet above the balcony. So if you were on the floor, um you would be the the ceiling would be 60 feet above you. But because you're 30 feet above the ground, the ceiling is only 30 feet above you. Does that make sense?

Vesz'rak: Yeah, I getcha.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah. The walls and the ceiling are covered in an amber glaze. lending the room a golden sheen. So all the walls and the roof are all covered in this sort of amber glaze, similar to the

Doc: Amber has always been used for preservation.

The Blade's Edge: similar to the statues outside. A set of amber doors stands closed at the west end of the balcony. A similar pair stands open to the east.

Doc: wonder where they got all of this amber.

The Blade's Edge: And for the for the statue, since you can see it on your on your page here, um you see four black marble columns support the vaulted ceiling of the temple.

Vesz'rak: Uh,

The Blade's Edge: At the north end of which stands a 40-foot tall statue of a cowled ah figure in flowing robes. um the statue's stony hands are outstretched as if in the midst of casting a spell.

The Blade's Edge: ah Its face is a void of utter blackness. The ominous statue stands between two marbled ah black marble balconies. So you see balconies on the other far side of this room as well.

The Blade's Edge: One of which has a partially collapsed has partially collapsed and fallen onto the temple's black marble floor in front of an open doorway. ah The walls of the temple are sheathed in amber, and the doors leading from it are made of amber as well.

The Blade's Edge: Arched hallways coated with amber lead from the temple to the west and to the east. You're looking down from the balcony at this point. ah Flanking these exits are alcoves that hold white marble statues of robed human wizards with pointed hats and golden stabs.

The Blade's Edge: One of them has toppled over and lies shattered on the floor. That's what you see below you. ah You guys are currently on the balcony up here.

The Blade's Edge: um And that everything I just described was sort of over by that 40-foot tall statue down there.

Doc: Oh, probably be good to explore down there.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, there's doorways this way. Big black marble this way can hedge.

Doc: Hang of magic from around here as well for my detect magic.

Vesz'rak: So I'm going to head to the right to the east, Brian, towards the open doorway.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Vesz'rak: But mainly, I just want to kind of head downstairs because that seems like what we want to do.

Kyle: Wait, where was that ping of magic that was close to us? Like here?

Doc: Right here, just...

Vesz'rak: here

Kyle: But in front of us is a wall?

Doc: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, it's a wall with two arrows slits. You do not see a door.

Doc: I would be heading towards these open doors because I want to see if the hallway moves to the south in this room.

The Blade's Edge: Sure.

Kyle: just follow you guys.

The Blade's Edge: um Cool.

Vesz'rak: It looks like it does kind of go towards the south. Standing from the outside.

The Blade's Edge: So as you're outside that room and you look inside the room, ah this room is featureless except for a rough edged 10 foot diameter circular hole in the floor.

The Blade's Edge: So that's what this is it as a hole going downward in the floor.

Doc: Oh, sheesh.

Vesz'rak: ah boy. Oh, it's a hole.

The Blade's Edge: um you You see the 10-foot diameter circular hole the floor to the east, and an empty tor you see empty torch sconces along the walls. ah you As you just you know peek in, double doors of amber stand open to the ah ah north, as well as the amber doors that you're standing by that are also open.

The Blade's Edge: So as you just sort of peek in and look left, you see that.

Doc: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: That's what you see from where you're standing.

Doc: Yeah, um I would walk into the room.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, ah you see a single door to the south right here that is closed.

Vesz'rak: I'll go in as well.

Doc: Okay. So that might take us to the the room with magic in it. um And I have my torch and these are there are no torches in these sconces, correct?

The Blade's Edge: No torches in the sconces.

Doc: and Okay, no torches in Wisconsin. um I have torches in my bag. I could light them all up.

Doc: Put them in here, but maybe that's a little too Zelda of me to want to light every torch in a room.

Vesz'rak: Could just take a peek down the hole, Brian?

The Blade's Edge: Sure. Make a perception check for me.

Doc: as the legs of a Kraken rip you into the hole.

Vesz'rak: I hope not.

The Blade's Edge: twenty two um with With a 22, how long does your divine sense last?

Vesz'rak: ah One round, so six seconds.

The Blade's Edge: Okay, so it's probably gone by now.

Vesz'rak: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: um the The hole in the floor forms a roughly hewn shaft that descends 20 feet, then looks like it breaks, like that shaft looks like it breaks through the ceiling of a room.

The Blade's Edge: So it looks like there's a room down there that you could just drop into or somebody could climb out of potentially. Seems like a pretty hard climb.

Vesz'rak: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Um, the shaft, however, has abundant handholds. So the climbing actually would seem pretty easy. Go down and up. This is a tunnel that leads from this room to some other room, 20 feet down below.

The Blade's Edge: Uh, with a 22 perception too, I think you maybe hear the vague whooshing of something.

Vesz'rak: Cool.

The Blade's Edge: You hear a vague whooshing sound.

Vesz'rak: Just something was just whoosh.

The Blade's Edge: You hear like a

Vesz'rak: Like wind?

The Blade's Edge: Like if somebody was holding a torch and very quickly like moved it from right to left, you know, the whooshing sound you'd hear from like the fire.

Doc: Oh, yeah.

Vesz'rak: oh yeah, yeah,

The Blade's Edge: That's what you hear.

Doc: ah I like that sound. yeah That was a good sound, Bri.

The Blade's Edge: Thanks.

Doc: um Cool. Then I'd look back to the group that's hanging out outside the doors and say, hey, I'm going to go check this door out.

Vesz'rak: I'll stand guard.

Kyle: I'm coming to the room here.

Doc: And let's see. I am going to investigate the door.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. The

Doc: Plus nine? The twenty one.

The Blade's Edge: door is not locked, nor is it trapped.

Doc: All right, I open the door.

The Blade's Edge: Okay. You open the door, you head into this

The Blade's Edge: I should note at this point that ever since you guys have entered this place, this entire temple, the Amber Temple, is a cold, dark place. It's carved out of a snowy slope of the snow-covered Mount Gakkas area.

The Blade's Edge: And as you guys enter in here, the temperature throughout this place, as you're sort of all in now, is ah roughly, if you're Fahrenheit, negative 10 degrees Fahrenheit Celsius.

Doc: Oh.

The Blade's Edge: This would be negative 23 degrees Celsius.

Vesz'rak: It's super cold.

The Blade's Edge: So i at this point, I do need everybody to make me a DC 10 constitution saving throw. Unless you somehow have resistance to cold damage or immunity, right?

Vesz'rak: Um...

Doc: 25 from Doc.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. Doc, you're good. It's just cold. It's very cold, but you're good.

Kyle: Last seven.

The Blade's Edge: Anabi's good.

Kyle: Eighteen.

The Blade's Edge: Bash, you're good. ah

Doc: All right, Dasan.

Vesz'rak: Does it? I don't know if the sun sort of emits heat.

The Blade's Edge: It does not.

Vesz'rak: Okay. Well, rats.

Doc: It's okay, you got this, it's just a 10, right?

Vesz'rak: All right.

Doc: It's just a 10.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, it's just a 10. Colin, save, plus two.

Doc: Oh my gosh, 12, didn't need it.

Vesz'rak: 12. Didn't need it.

The Blade's Edge: Ridley Valentine also rolled a 12. ah Nobody gets a level of exhaustion.

Vesz'rak: Oh, my God.

Doc: Oh, freak.

The Blade's Edge: But it is so cold in here that you get the sense like at the top of every hour, you will be making this check again.

Doc: Yeah, I feel my my joints are kind of creaky, but I'm focusing in on the magical energy.

The Blade's Edge: Stalbadok.

Kyle: Fire.

Doc: um that I noticed when I came into the room, or when I came into the temple for the first time. And I'm kind of trying to just like feel along the wall to see if I can get a sense of there being another room on the other side.

The Blade's Edge: With a detect magic still up because it lasts 10 minutes and with the 21 investigation check, ah you do see that there is a secret door set into ah the wall right here.

Doc: Oh-ho.

The Blade's Edge: ah That ah can be opened.

Doc: Okay, um I will check it to make sure that it's not tripped or trapped.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, not locked or or trapped, but it just just hidden.

Doc: Okay, then I cruise in.

The Blade's Edge: right, as you cruise into this place, you see that this is X2B.

Doc: Oh, shit.

The Blade's Edge: Sorry, X2B guard room. Got it.

Doc: A wizard prison.

The Blade's Edge: ah You see that the two aerosluts are carved to the west wall of this 10-foot-high, 20-foot-square room. Slumped in the northeast corner is a skeleton wearing a blue wizard's robe and clutching a wand to its chest.

The Blade's Edge: The wand is what is radiating magic.

Doc: Oh, okay.

The Blade's Edge: You also get the sense that this is a wizard who froze to death.

Doc: i

Doc: Oh, shit. Yeah, well, I have a wand inside of my my apparatus, and so I would like to grab that wand, see if it's special.

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

The Blade's Edge: Nice. Yeah, you have the wand. If one of you guys has the identify spell, you can figure out what it is immediately, otherwise on a short or long rest.

Trevor: I do, I can do that as a ritual.

Doc: Sure. all come out back to the group

The Blade's Edge: Cool. Do you want to do that now?

Doc: and yeah do you want to do it Disan or sorry Inabi yeah no I got it let's check it out and I hand it over to you Inabi

Trevor: Uh, yeah.

Vesz'rak: Yeah, I ain't touching that thing.

Trevor: Cool, yeah. I will, uh, take the next 10 minutes to cast identify it.

Doc: Identify it. Cool.

The Blade's Edge: Cool. ah You guys have found a wand of secrets. The wand has three charges.

Doc: Ooh.

The Blade's Edge: While holding it, you can use an action to expend one of its charges. And if a secret door or trap is within 30 feet of you, the wand pulses and points at the one nearest to you. It regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.

Kyle: wow

Doc: Wow. um And how many charges does it have presently?

Kyle: That's crazy, actually

The Blade's Edge: Three.

Doc: OK, cool.

The Blade's Edge: Enough dawns have passed since this guy died.

Doc: All right. um Inabi, do you want to hold on to that? Does that require attunement or is that just a...

The Blade's Edge: No, no attunement.

Doc: Cool. I'm happy to hold on to it.

Trevor: Yeah, that's fine.

Doc: Okay. So I will add Wand of Secrets to my inventory and then somebody else can do something.

Doc: Secret it.

Vesz'rak: Hey, Bash, are you still shirtless, by the way, are you wearing some sort of clothes?

Kyle: I remember. When did I take my shirt off?

Vesz'rak: You're – yeah, when – you got nips out in your portrait.

Doc: When did you put your shirt on is the question, yeah.

Vesz'rak: I'm just worried that you got to –

Kyle: Oh, oh, no, I could have sworn that like someone needed something.

Doc: His diamond cutters are out.

Kyle: So I had to take my shirt. Like, didn't someone need clothes? Wasn't one of you naked at one point?

Vesz'rak: Probably. That sounds like me.

Doc: That was you, Dasan.

Vesz'rak: But are you shirtless right now is my question.

Kyle: Um, yeah. Yeah, I can't lie.

Vesz'rak: Nips. How are nips feeling in this? What is it? Negative 23 Celsius.

Kyle: They're going through it. They're going through it right now. You ever seen that, uh, I think it was the Mighty Ducks where they go into the locker room and their jackets are frozen and he punches the jacket and it shatters.

Vesz'rak: yeah

Vesz'rak: Ugh.

Kyle: That's what would happen if you slapped on my nips right now.

The Blade's Edge: yeah

The Blade's Edge: um I'm going to say while you took 10 minutes to cast Identify, um Valentine is going to, he says, um I'm going to put something at the entrance of this place to let me know if somebody enters behind us.

Doc: very smart. Is that the alarm alarm spell?

The Blade's Edge: alarm spell ritual. He takes out a a tiny bell and a piece of fine silver wire. And for eight hours, if anybody enters through the front door of the Amber Temple, he will be alerted that that has happened.

Doc: All right. Good to know. Nice moves. Smart man.

Vesz'rak: yeah Okay, so we could either go down the hole, go back to the main area and go down the stairs go see the statue with the black void face, or there's this hallway down here, which looks like I can see like a series of doors in here with my dark vision.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, there are a series of doors. Also at this time, detect magic is no longer up as we've taken 10 minutes to um do that.

Doc: Mm-hmm.

The Blade's Edge: You do see in front of you this hallway to San as you've been looking. You see glazed amber covers the walls of this 20 foot wide, 70 foot long arched corridor.

The Blade's Edge: ah You see the amber doors at both ends are open and there's a closed door in the middle of the east wall and three arrow slits are cut into the wall across from it.

The Blade's Edge: So you see like over here, like looking into the main area, you see other arrow slits.

Vesz'rak: Yeah.

The Blade's Edge: Cracks in the black marble floor run the length of the hall.

The Blade's Edge: So the black marble floor that you've been on in this hallway, the floor is very cracked.

Vesz'rak: Hmm.

Doc: This place is fucking cool.

Vesz'rak: I guess where do you guys want to go first? Like Bash and I'll be ready guys feeling.

Kyle: um Honestly, that super dark marble, like in the beginning, piqued my interest.

Vesz'rak: The big statue.

Kyle: Yeah.

Doc: Yeah.

Vesz'rak: Let's go big statue.

Doc: Let's check it out. Yeah, let's go.

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, so the super dark marble, just so that you're aware, Bash, is the floor.

Vesz'rak: Oh, you mean right?

Kyle: r R R R R.

Vesz'rak: Oh, right here. Let's jump down.

Kyle: It wasn't that wasn't it in like like downstairs over like in the main room? Or it's just this one?

The Blade's Edge: Yeah, downstairs there's ah there's a 40-foot statue that his whole face is is like blacker than black. ah But the black marble, that's the darkest thing you've ever seen. um'm just That was me just me describing the floor you're walking on.

Kyle: Oh, oh, oh.

The Blade's Edge: The floor everywhere. So the floor in here, the floor down there as well. The floor on the stairs, the floor in this room, although it's cracked. ah But yes, there is a 40 foot tall statue ah whose face is ah yeah very dark as well.

The Blade's Edge: But yeah, just so you know, totally down with you going in that room.

Kyle: Oh, gotcha.

The Blade's Edge: Just letting you know.

Kyle: Yeah, i'm I'm down for statue of other...

Doc: Let's do it.

Vesz'rak: Alright, statue time.

Doc: Good with me.

Vesz'rak: I'll walk ah down the stairs of the statue, bro. Let's go bash. Bird bros.

Kyle: I can't... Is invisible wall?

The Blade's Edge: Oh, you can't go down there.

Doc: Let's see, can we click and drag?

Kyle: No.

Doc: Can't click and drag.

The Blade's Edge: Interesting. I don't know. No, that is just a, ah that is a malfunction of whoever made this map. Let me go ahead and go now. You're good.

Vesz'rak: My stairs.

Doc: You shall not pass.

Vesz'rak: Oh, there we go. Nice.

The Blade's Edge: What's your passive perception in Abhi?

The Blade's Edge: Okay.

Kyle: Oh, echo, echo, echo.

Trevor: do you ask what's a

Doc: Damn. This is a big room. So now the ceiling is 60 feet above us, right?

The Blade's Edge: Now the ceiling is 60 feet above you. And going back to what I had said earlier, four black marble columns support the vaulted ceiling of the temple, the north end of which stands this 40-foot tall statue of a cowled figure in flowing robes.

The Blade's Edge: The statue's stony hands are outstretched in the midst of casting a spell. Its face is a void of utter blackness. The ominous statue stands between two black marble balconies. So you see that there is a balcony right here.

The Blade's Edge: And ah this over here that is crumbled is another balcony that has crumbled. um partially collapsed and fallen onto the temple's black marble floor in front of an open doorway ah open doorway.

The Blade's Edge: and The walls of the temple are sheathen amber. The doors leading from it are made of amber as well. Arched hallways coated with amber lead away from the temple to the west and east. um Let me go ahead and just...

The Blade's Edge: hit you with a five a That is where you are currently. ah Yeah, as you approach this thing, 40-foot tall statue. It looks to be carved out of granite. It depicts a similar faceless god, ah same as outside.

Doc: Interesting.

Kyle: The face is like, is it a dark material or does it just look like there's nothing there?

The Blade's Edge: um That is a good question. The

The Blade's Edge: ah you can make me some sort of check. You tell me what sort of check you'd like to make, whether it's perception or investigation or arcana or.

Kyle: um

Kyle: yeah um I mean, I'm just trying to to make sense of whatever I'm looking at here. So I'm just going to do a perception check.

The Blade's Edge: Cool.

Kyle: It's going to be a 24.

The Blade's Edge: With 24, that's high enough for you to know you travel with magic users. Its head, like where the face is that is a field of magical darkness.

Kyle: oh

The Blade's Edge: So it's like a spell. So it is just a magical darkness that fills the interior sort of of the head. It looks like the statue's head is hollow, but where the face is and inside the hood, it is ah just blackness.

The Blade's Edge: ah with a 24 perception check as well. um

The Blade's Edge: do You... Because you only need it with a 20. You know that at the base of the statue, um you see ah like two parts of the granite don't line up, and it looks as if there is a um

The Blade's Edge: uh like uh door secret door that would go you could open it to go inside the statue

Kyle: m

Doc: Oh.

Vesz'rak: Oh, secret door.

Doc: Can the strong man move it? Try to move it.

Kyle: Wait, where where is it on the... ah Where is it?

The Blade's Edge: on the statue right in front right at the base of the robes

Kyle: Like, which part? Okay.

Doc: up his ropes.

Kyle: Yeah, I'm going to walk up to the statue. And I'm just going to my hands... Wherever it seems like this thing is. and is is it like Does it feel movable?

The Blade's Edge: I feel like you could open it.

Kyle: I mean, if if this is someone's house, I don't want to disturb this whatever's living it. and I mean, they have a magical shroud of darkness on this. I'm sure they don't take kindly to solicitors.

Trevor: I think killed their plane.

Vesz'rak: Come on, get in there.

Kyle: Can I knock?

Trevor: plane

Doc: Howard.

The Blade's Edge: um

Kyle: I'm going knock.

The Blade's Edge: You knock on the door. OK. um

The Blade's Edge: okay

Doc: Maybe he's got good instincts.

Kyle: Well, there's ah there's a spell on this thing. Someone had to put the spell here.

The Blade's Edge: OK.

Doc: Yeah, maybe like a thousand years ago.

The Blade's Edge: um You knock and...

The Blade's Edge: um

Kyle: just want to see if I hear anything, any like rummaging around.

The Blade's Edge: um Yes, here is where we will leave off on today's session.

The Blade's Edge: You knock on the door and and you hear from within. you hear a voice respond and say, hello, who goes there?

Kyle: why

Vesz'rak: Oh no, spooky.

Doc: Oh, no.

Vesz'rak: Mad scientist asked.

Doc: It's a silly guy.

Kyle: Oh my God.

Vesz'rak: as for

Doc: Oh, good instincts. Good instincts.

The Blade's Edge: ah You have correctly identified somebody is inside the statue. the magical darkness, put magical darkness where the face is being where you heard the voice come from.

The Blade's Edge: um and we will pick up next time as the camera zooms out. I'll leave you with this. You hear, yes, who goes there from him? And then I'd say Inabi from where you're standing a little bit further back on the staircase.

The Blade's Edge: You hear a door close. somewhere behind you and to the west.

Trevor: I

The Blade's Edge: You hear a door close rather forcefully as you look and the voice rings out, echoing through this entire place. Who goes there?

The Blade's Edge: Who goes there? Who goes there? Who goes there? The frigid cold bashes, absolute diamond nips, a cutting through the tension,

Trevor: don't know.

The Blade's Edge: And we will pick up there next time. Thank you all for for joining us. um Once again, if you'd like the episodes a bit early or to ah see our upcoming a little foreshot that Kyle Beams will be...

The Blade's Edge: um ah DMing for me and Tommy, ah go to patreon.com slash blades edge and um yeah, go support us on Patreon.

Doc: Yes, sir.

The Blade's Edge: Shout out to some patrons. Jaden M. Kelly Tremblay, Mr. GTGEO, Mr. Got2Go. That's what i think it is. ah Alexander ah Keller, Shelby Sullivan, Brianne Moody. Thank you guys so much.

The Blade's Edge: And we will catch you guys next time. Thanks so much. Bye-bye.
