Introduction and Ghost Story Theme

00:00:01
Speaker
Hello everyone. It is Twintrested. I'm Catherine and I've got Erin here. Hi. We're on one microphone and we're chilling out on my bed. Yep. Cause it's Boxing Day. We've just had Christmas.
00:00:18
Speaker
and we've just been eating and drinking having lots of naps and we thought it would be kind of the perfect time to maybe just tell some personal ghost stories while we head into the new year and can't be bothered planning too much to be honest and yeah next year is going to be jam packed full of so many cool topics and we just thought let's do a filler of just sp spontaneous spontaneous filler episode to keep you guys, you know, well fed.

Listener Appreciation

00:00:54
Speaker
Well fed on spooky. Yeah. So I've just kind of coerced Erin into, no, she's, I bought this shit over for a reason. No, we knew we were going to do something. um Yeah. So we're just going to tell some stories again, firsthand accounts.
00:01:12
Speaker
Erin's going to share some of hers because I think I've kind of rambled a lot of mine off. So it's time to get down to some OG origin story stuff. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Before we start, though, we just want to thank all our listeners. We've we've looked. We've we've had 20 streams on some of these. We're famous. We're not even advertising. And there's 20 people lurking around, listening to our our ghost stuff. Reach out to us. You know, we'll put it down in the show notes.

Show Notes Promise

00:01:51
Speaker
My favorite thing is we've told everyone about the show notes and we haven't put anything in the show note, but we will. Yeah, we will. We'll get to that. Okay. 2025 goals. We'll have show notes. We'll have links to facts. We'll have links to Wikipedia dot.com and we'll have a way for you to reach us. Yeah.
00:02:09
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll have an email. Yeah. Twintrested at hotmail dot.com. Yep. At Yahoo. Chat on MSN. Um, yeah. So anyway, want to keep it short and sweet because we're a little bit tired. Um, so Erin, without further, is it a Jew?

Erin's Childhood Ghost Encounter

00:02:28
Speaker
Without further ado, uh, take it away. What was your very first ghost encounter?
00:02:38
Speaker
I'm so glad you asked. So, um, yeah, my first ghost encounter. So we talked about like in the pilot episode, how your face is we talked about how we talked about how, um, um, yeah, yeah, we talked about our house. And also like when we grew up, like when we' we're really young, we had weird stuff going on, but this is my first ghost ghost encounter.
00:03:07
Speaker
that I remember that I was like terrified of, and I haven't shared it on the podcast yet. So what better time than you know Christmas Eve, lazy lazy time storytelling? So essentially, we lived in that house that was haunted. Yep. Listen to the ghost ep, if you haven't already. Yep, ep two.
00:03:26
Speaker
ghosts. Get some backstory into that house and how we feel about it because we're not going to retell you. You guys just got to go back and listen. You got to go back and listen and that'll give you some context for how much the house was haunted. And then that leads us into was the house haunted or were we haunted? Oh that's a heavy hitter for today in my brain. That's a very interesting area. That's a very interesting thing because would have this same story have happened if I was in a different house? Probably.
00:03:55
Speaker
I don't, yeah, listen, yeah, the deeper we get into this world, probably. Yeah. But also, nah, probably. Yeah. All right. So go ahead. Gonna also like the audio is weird because we don't have one mic. So we're doing our best. Yeah. Deal with the, if it's a bit like this. Deal with episode three, shitty sound.
00:04:25
Speaker
So I'm procrastinating. So I'll tell a story. um So I was in my bed late at night and it was probably, you know, typical bullshit, like 3 a.m. or something. And we shared a room, but you didn't wake up. I didn't. No. And I couldn't even make a sound. That's how terrifying it was. So I woke up because I felt like I was being watched. And we used to sleep with our bedroom door open because I don't know. That was normal. It was the style at the time. That was the style at the time until this story happened and that changed very quickly. Yeah, yep, we had to change our whole bedroom configuration and so I woke up and I saw a lady at the end of my bed just staring at me and she was like she looked like a normal human like it was as clear as day even though it was nighttime
00:05:14
Speaker
Yeah, can I ask, was she see-through? Was it like a solid figure? Solid, like she was a huge, like it was a person, so I thought it was mum, but I was terrified, so it wasn't mum. And it's a bit hazy, but I can remember it. I was just terrified, so I was anxious, terrified, sweating profusely, and I remember just hiding under my bed covers.
00:05:39
Speaker
So I hit on the bed covers and I was like, this thing will go away or this person will go away. And so I looked again and they were still there and that was gross. Cause you know, when people see ghosts, usually it's like gone within a flash, but this lady just hung around and I didn't like that. Um, and then I kind of watched her get annoyed at me.

Interpreting the Ghostly Visit

00:06:02
Speaker
So the lady at the end of the bed, she was like, typical, it looked like just,
00:06:06
Speaker
Victorian clothing, but not Victorian clothing, just old school, like a bit of a um dress thing going on. I guess maybe but like old school clothing for Australia because we're not that old of a country. Exactly. 1901, what is that? Yeah, Federation era or some shit. Is that right? Facts, 1901 guys? I don't know. him Fact check below in the show notes. Yeah, we'll put it there for anyone who wants to know what that means for all our international listeners. Yeah.
00:06:32
Speaker
So she was angry at me and so I remember specifically this lady rolling her eyes at me and then walking into the hallway and even though I couldn't see her or where she was going I knew that she was walking into my bathroom so obviously for some reason I just knew that and yeah the terrifying thing was that it just didn't go away this lady didn't go away so I think I looked a total of three times like I would just peek over my bed covers and because she wouldn't go away I was like, this is really scary. I know. And it was so terrifying that I just stayed hidden under my doona. Like, and it was just awful. And then the first sign of daylight, I remember just, you must've just been sleeping. this whole time yeah Yeah. And so I just got up, ran to mum and dad's room.
00:07:18
Speaker
And I was like, hoping that it was mom, even though I knew it wasn't mom. And I just remember like rambling to them. I was like, why were you in my room last night? Someone was in our room last night irrigation at six a.m. yeah by a nine year old. Yeah. And they were a bit weirded out by it. But mom was like, I wasn't in your room. and I was like, was, you know, Arnie so and so in my room, like I thought it was an auntie of ours that kind of looked like mom or whatever.
00:07:41
Speaker
but it wasn't her because mum was like she wasn't around um and i said well it was really scary and then mum tried to calm things down and she was like you know it was probably a guardian angel watching over you Yeah. And I remember being like, well, it wasn't a guardian angel. it Didn't feel like one. No, it wasn't warm. and Okay. It was angry. She was angry. And I was like, well, it didn't feel like a guardian angel because she didn't like me and she kept rolling her eyes, you know, didn't feel very nice. And that was that. They were like, it's okay. And I was like, it's not okay. So weird. So that was that. And even telling the story now, I'm just like so detached from it because I don't really like it. It was kind of scary.
00:08:20
Speaker
Do you have any questions, Catherine? You can hold the mic. I was going to say, I think that like when we joked about the... That's my origin story, by the way. tin in an a tintin um Yeah and I feel like that was the beginning of us closing our doors because we didn't want to see what was like through the hallway yeah and I think that was your like beginning of like complete fear of the dark and stuff like yeah yeah just scared of what could be in the so yeah not really any questions I'm just spitting statements um yeah and I'm not scared of the dark anymore
00:08:54
Speaker
No, I'm just saying like as a child. But I used to be. Which it was for a long time. I think I only just healed my fear of the dark like probably a year ago. Oh, recently. Oh, okay. Sorry. Yeah. I've been scared of the dark for a long time.
00:09:07
Speaker
Good on ya. Anyone else out there who's 37 scared? Oh, there'd be plenty. Plenty of ghouls. Well, I'm not part of that crew anymore, so. Cool. Any questions? No, I do want you to, cause like, I love that there's like a part two to this story, if you want to tell it now.

Recognizing the Ghost

00:09:28
Speaker
There is a part two. And it kind of is like this weird full circle moment for you. And we're talking like, this is like a closure that comes like,
00:09:36
Speaker
15 years later. Yeah. Yep Well prompted. So that happened and it pretty much made me scared of the dark for a long time. We changed our entire bedroom that day. I was like, I'm not sleeping near a door. And that affected how I just have been with feng shui. I never want to be, and go and yeah if my bed isn't facing the doorway, they won't haunt me. So we changed our bedrooms after that. And I always had to just, even in summer, just have the doomers over me and shit, which wasn't very comfortable.
00:10:07
Speaker
And so what happened? Yeah, you just forget about it. Um, but I would always tell people that story, just like you would tell people the triangle man story. That was my story. I was like, yep. And mine's like the old lady. Yeah. Old lady. And ah I get a triangle. Yeah. You get some weird fucking. shimy Yeah. Um.
00:10:26
Speaker
What happened? So we went to remote rural WA town called Korda and our mum and dad had, well, our mum's cousin have a like a holiday home, like an old town community hall that they did up. Very cool vibe. They've kind of made it like a dorm vibe. Like a holiday home of sorts. Anyway, it's just a cool vibe. revamp of a community hall yeah love it and they have all these like cool old family photos and stuff and we went down there one weekend just for a bit of a visit was this when i was like kind of like let's do it before i go to melbourne okay so that was that holiday or was this separate time we
00:11:09
Speaker
No, it must have been that whole year. It was great. It was a great time. They had like an agricultural fair on. And we'd just arrived and we were just looking at what they'd done to the place. So that we're looking at all the artworks and the photos. And I remember just seeing this one photo and I was like, oh, this is cool. Like this is all our old family. Yeah. So I was looking at it and it was like an old timey photo, like a black and white photo.
00:11:33
Speaker
And I remember just like seeing this lady in the photo, and I was like, what the fuck? And no one was around me, but I was just like, what the fuck? And I had this like moment where I remembered, because I've never forgotten how that lady looked. And um I was like, Catherine, that's the fucking old lady. all She wasn't even old when she was, but I was like, that's the woman, yeah. That's the woman who was like pissed at me, kept looking at me, and I was like, who the fuck is this? It was a, I just always remember it being like the Ace Ventura scene, where you're like,
00:12:03
Speaker
Finkles like that. Who the hell is that but doing that? I was like, who the hell is that? I was like, that's the woman. Um, so got mom over quick smile. I was like, mom, remember when like I was nine and I was terrified about the lady like at the end of my bed and I was like, who the fuck is that? And she was like, well, that's my grandma. Like, um, what the fuck was her name? Yeah, it was her mum's mum. Bit of respect for the old woman. Let's yeah just clear the f's in the room for our dearest great grandmother.
00:12:32
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know what I mean. Great-grandma. Great-grandma. Graham Graham Carr. Let's call her Graham Graham. Graham Graham Graham Carr. Was she a car or was she a freeel though? She was, oh no, she was, um, yeah, she was, she was granddad's mum.
00:12:55
Speaker
Show notes, we'll clarify. We'll put the family tree on. And sorry if we've messed up the family tree, we are deeply, we are deeply apologised. We don't mean any harm. We just, we just remember an old woman. She was an old woman, but she was just a lady. And she was related to us and she looked not old enough. She was well kept just clarifying. that We don't mean any disrespect.
00:13:23
Speaker
We're just trying to describe the craziness of the um the experience, not the craziness of the lady. Exactly. She was good, but she was not good with children. Yeah. So this is the thing. So so anyway, that was her. yeah So imagine this, you're nine years old, you see a lady, you know, just popping in saying hi, but obviously not too happy with something, rolling their eyes. Yeah. It was like that. It was like roll of the eyes, walking in the, yep. And then, you know, at the age of what, 20?
00:13:52
Speaker
five? What time? When did you move to Melbourne? Yeah that checks out. They did 25. Just going to this, you know, second cousin's holiday home and then seeing a family portrait and being like, oh that's the lady that was haunting me and she's my relative and she was angry with me. So it was cool but also like full circle moment and I had answers and then since then I've just wondered why she was pissed at me. Yeah. ah
00:14:20
Speaker
Let's do some theory theorizing for that. What do you think? Is there a deep in your bones thought?

Why Was the Ghost Angry?

00:14:27
Speaker
um Sorry, I'm so bad at the smoke thing. It's because I keep interjecting. um I think she knew that I could see her and she was like, what are you doing? I'm just a ghost. What's the big deal?
00:14:42
Speaker
get some courage bitch and she was angry at me and she wouldn't fuck off so she would respectfully wouldn't fuck off but how am I the problem still bitter um yeah maybe she's like you see me hi hello how do you not like we're related why are you offended at me like i don't know man yeah i don't know either what do you think guys I don't know. I don't know. It's like a perception thing when you're a kid and you see like an adult staring at you. You think you're in trouble, you know? Yeah. It kind of felt like that. So this brings us back to like our ghost episode where we were talking about types of hauntings that didn't feel residual to me.
00:15:26
Speaker
It sort of felt like a present, yeah like she was in the room with you interacting. yeah Interesting. It felt like an intelligent haunting. Intelligent, that's the word. And then it's like, do I sit and meditate and try to communicate with her and ask her what it was all about? um Because I have done that in the past, but I just kind of haven't for a while because I don't want to. Yeah, fair enough. But maybe in a future episode, I'll be like, hey, I sat down, meditated, tried to communicate with the spirit. This was the answer. Maybe we can get some answers later down.
00:15:56
Speaker
Down the road. But for now, we'll let her be moody. yeah You know, I feel like back in the day, maybe they had a lot to be moody about, yeah probably running a household of 50 million. I know. And you're reminding me of, of her story. Not real closure on the grumpiness, but you know, aren't we all grumpy sometimes? i know Grumpy at 3 AM in the morning. She probably wanted a nap. I wanted to have a chat with a nine year old and I wasn't really up for it. And she was like, Oh dear.
00:16:24
Speaker
Dear, dear in me child, get your shit together. Very cool. yeah erarin Very cool. And very weird that it was like, I finally figured out who it was. And I was like, that's the lady I saw. like You clearly had it so embedded in your mind and that you definitely recognized her, which is wild to me. Well, that was a

Upcoming Paranormal Investigation Preview

00:16:42
Speaker
very cool story. I like that your origin story is so like full body premonition kind of apparition.
00:16:49
Speaker
Premonition is the future scene. Oh, okay. Have we done that? I don't think I have. We'll do an episode on premonition versus apparition for Catherine's education. Oh my God. Apparition. Full body apparition. That's wild. And I've never seen anything since. I've never seen a full body apparition since. So that's what's weird about it.
00:17:11
Speaker
I'd like to take pause and remind Erin of her second ghost story in that house. We'll do that another time. Yeah. That's too much. That's a teaser. um Yeah, but I just hope you guys enjoyed that little ghost story. We just wanted to share something we know. I mean, we love hearing people's real ghost stories and their story times. um So we hope you enjoyed that. We will come back in 2025 with some jam-packed funsies. I will plug the next episode for you so you know what to anticipate but I recently did a ghost tour out in the Ararat Mental Asylum which is
00:17:56
Speaker
pretty dang haunted guys and I know people out there do their little ghost tours and they can be a bit theatrical and cheesy but this one was h a four-hour paranormal investigation with paranormal ghost technology and dowsing rods and we were allowed to just walk around, talk to spirits. It wasn't very like historical heavy. It was literally just a guy like opening up the place to us and being like, yeah, walk down this hallway and see who chats to you. So I'm very excited to share my stories because I've never done anything like that in my life and it was very interesting.
00:18:39
Speaker
And the cool thing is we've got some like audio of the investigation and your partner Nathan went on the trip and he had some cool experiences. Yeah, someone who is quite s skeptical and pretty keen to explain away a lot of stuff.
00:18:53
Speaker
Yeah, he couldn't really explain the experience he had, so we'll share that. And I... Yeah, I kind of just... It was just... Open my mind up a little bit to the spirit world, I should say. Like, I just... Yeah. I won't say anymore. Because we'll leave that to the episode. Yes.

Holiday Wishes and Wrap-up

00:19:12
Speaker
um but We hope you had a happy holidays. Yeah, we hope you had a happy holidays. I was going to say this won't take long to edit, but it doesn't matter because you're listening. So we've done it. That's a premonition.
00:19:26
Speaker
It'll be good. It'll be easy to do. Yeah, good. And my apparition is um Olive that I can see before me. She's asleep on the bed. That's my apparition versus your premonition. We should share apparitions and premonitions at the end of each episode. Oh my God. Okay. yeah Yeah. So that's done. And yeah, happy holidays. um If you don't like the holidays.
00:19:53
Speaker
We hope you just slept through it and like hidden your comfy house den and yeah escaped the family chaos. Exactly. It's all going to go back to normal soon. And if you love the holidays, we hope you loved it. um What else? What else do we hope you love? um This little chat that we've just shared with you. yeah um We haven't edited it and we hope that's okay. We might edit it. I think we're going to have to. Just a little bit.
00:20:20
Speaker
um what What else guys? Do you want us to keep thinking live? Do we have any like Christmas holiday ghosts? That's what I'm trying to think. we were being on ah Have we been on a holiday? Like when we did Christmas trips. We've always gone to graveyards but we've never seen anything in a graveyard. That would be good to just walk through some graveyards. Alright, we're out. Peace.
00:20:49
Speaker
