We’ve come to the end of our journey together through God’s Big Story. But it’s not really the end! Our prayer is that families will keep learning together and growing together in faith! Talking about Heaven is a great place to start this week. Here are some ideas:

Preschoolers: What do you want to do in Heaven? Who will you see there? How will you feel in Heaven? The Bible tells us there will be no crying, no hurts, no tears!

Early Elementary: The Bible tells is that Jesus is preparing a place for us in Heaven, and that “In my Father’s house there are many rooms.” (John 14:2-4) Describe what you hope to see and do in Heaven!

Older Elementary: How do you feel when you think about Heaven? What questions do you have? What do you hope for? What would it be like if time didn’t matter and there was no sadness?

Here are some more resources to help your family grow in faith together!

• The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible (great for toddlers and preschoolers!)

• The Hear-Me-Read Bible (great for young readers!)

• Notes from Jesus (one of my very favorite books for early elementary!)

• Kindling the Heart- Family Edition (simple devotions for families!)

• RightNowMedia and Minno (Christian video content for kids!)

• Seeds Kids Worship and Rain for Roots (Kids worship and Bible memory songs)

We're just normal kids learning about God's big story. Welcome to Normal Goes a Long Way. For kids! Hi friends, it's Miss Hannah. Welcome to the podcast where we learn about God's big story. three I have to say, I'm feeling a lot of feelings today.
00:00:23
Speaker
feeling a little sad because it's our last episode of this series, but I'm also feeling really proud of us for learning so much about God and His Word and His big story. I'm feeling excited that so many of you have learned about the Bible and read along with us.

Podcast's Mission and Last Bible Story

00:00:41
Speaker
And i love hearing how you guys have conversations about God and His Word with your family. That makes Miss April and i so happy. That was one of our goals when we started this podcast, to teach kids about God's big story and to help families talk about God together.
00:01:01
Speaker
Thank you for coming on this journey with us. And don't tune out just yet because we've got another story to share today. It's actually the last story that we read in the Bible.
00:01:12
Speaker
But here's the thing, God's story isn't really over. Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself. Last week, Miss April asked you, what will you do with all the love that God has given you?
00:01:24
Speaker
Here's what you told us. I can spread it out and like tell my friends about um what he does for us and why he died on the cross for us. I will share it with other people and show them the love that Jesus showed me.
00:01:38
Speaker
Those are great answers, friends. I'm so glad to know you because God made you. he gave his love to you. And now you're sharing that love with others. Amazing.

Isaac's Insights on Disciple John

00:01:49
Speaker
It's time to hear from a super awesome kid with some fun facts about the disciple named John. It's time for some fun facts.
00:02:02
Speaker
My name is Isaac and am 11 years old. The disciple named John met Jesus when he and his brother James were fishing. John and Jesus were very close friends. John reminded people over and over again that Jesus is full of love.
00:02:16
Speaker
That's right. John was one of Jesus' disciples, a helper and a friend. And the story from the Bible today is at the very end of the Bible. We read about it in a book called Revelation.
00:02:29
Speaker
A revelation is something you learn. It's like a new thing, a new idea that you discover. And John had a revelation. You see, he was really old and living on an island, which might sound nice, but that island was actually a prison.
00:02:47
Speaker
The leaders put him there to try and stop him from telling everyone about Jesus. But of course, just being on an island didn't stop John. One morning, Jesus appeared to him, which was amazing, because friends, this is after Jesus lived on the earth.
00:03:04
Speaker
Then he died, then he rose again, then he went up to heaven. So I'm sure John was very surprised to see Jesus appear. But remember, Jesus can do anything.
00:03:16
Speaker
So Jesus appeared right there on the island prison with John. And something looked different about Jesus. His eyes were shining like the sun and he said to John, I'm going to show you something amazing about when I come back.
00:03:32
Speaker
Write this down so that all of God's children can read this revelation and they can wait with happy excitement. Because you see friends, Jesus came down to earth, then he went back up to heaven, but he's coming back.
00:03:46
Speaker
That's right. We get to wait with happy excitement for Jesus to come back to the earth.

John's Revelation and Vision of Heaven

00:03:52
Speaker
And this revelation that Jesus shared with him gives us a beautiful picture of what it will be like and what heaven will be like.
00:04:01
Speaker
So Jesus gave John a beautiful dream, except John was kind of awake and what he saw was real. And one day it will really come true. so That's hard to imagine. And it was hard for John to describe, but he did his best to write down this beautiful dream, this beautiful vision from Jesus.
00:04:21
Speaker
As I describe what John wrote, try closing your eyes, friends. Use your imagination. Listen to how John described heaven and imagine what it really looks like. Imagine what it's going to be like.
00:04:34
Speaker
Or if you're the kind of kid that likes to draw or color, maybe you could even grab a paper, grab some crayons, and draw a picture of what John described heaven to be like. All right, here we go.
00:04:46
Speaker
John wrote... I see a throne and on the throne is a king. It's King Jesus. And all around the throne are people bowing down to him and they're giving him treasures.
00:04:59
Speaker
They're cheering loud and they're clapping. There's laughter and they're singing. Everyone is singing, this is our king. This is Jesus. He's the lamb who died so that we didn't have Jesus, our rescuer, all honor and glory forever to this king, forever to King Jesus.
00:05:20
Speaker
And then every creature everywhere in heaven and on earth and in the sea, they all join in that singing and praising. And I see that sin is gone.
00:05:32
Speaker
Sin is defeated. There's no more sin. And I see a sparkling city, shimmering, glittering, glowing almost. And it's coming down from heaven.
00:05:45
Speaker
Heaven coming down to the earth. and it's God City. And this city of God, the sparkling, shimmering, glittering, glowing city, it's full of beautiful things like walls made of gemstones, and the streets are made of gold, and the gates are made of pearls, and wait a second, where's the sun or the moon?
00:06:09
Speaker
where they're not needed anymore because God is all the light that people need in heaven. There's no more darkness, no more nighttime, just God. Then King Jesus says, all God's children are here together.
00:06:23
Speaker
no one needs to run or hide. No one in heaven feels sad. There's no more crying or being lonely or feeling afraid. There's no more getting sick or getting hurt and no more dying.
00:06:38
Speaker
All those bad things are gone forever. I'll wipe away every tear from every eye.

Continued Participation in God's Story

00:06:45
Speaker
See, I'm making all things new. Now friends, John had a hard time squeezing everything he saw in that vision into words that would fit on a page.
00:06:56
Speaker
He had a hard time using the right words to describe what he saw, but John knew that one day that heaven he saw would be real and coming down to our broken world.
00:07:08
Speaker
And that this brokenness we see around us would be fixed and God would make everything new again. As Jesus told us in the Bible, I'm on my way. coming back. I'll be there soon.
00:07:21
Speaker
Now, all of these things that John saw, he wrote in a book. Usually at the end of a book, we see the words, the end. But John didn't write that. He did not write the end because God's story isn't over yet.
00:07:35
Speaker
God's story is continuing because you are part of God's story now. That's right, friends. yeah so You, you kids listening to this podcast, you are part of God's story now. The big story we've been telling. l Because anyone who trusts God and believes in Jesus is a part of God's family.
00:07:56
Speaker
You are a precious child of God. So you're part of his story and he is still working in me. and he's working in you. Just like all of these stories from the Bible that we learned about, God worked in the lives of these people and he works through us, through our words and through our actions to share his love with the world.
00:08:20
Speaker
You see, being a part of God's family and in God's story is amazing. It makes me want to keep learning about God, keep growing in my faith, keep reading the Bible, keep talking about God with other people.
00:08:33
Speaker
And we want that for you too, friend. Just because this podcast is over doesn't mean you're done learning about God's big story. In fact, we can never learn everything.
00:08:45
Speaker
i know people who have followed Jesus their whole life. Yet they still read God's word and they learn about God and they talk about God because God keeps growing us.
00:08:59
Speaker
And so today with your family, answer this question.

Encouragement for Ongoing Faith Discussions

00:09:02
Speaker
How can we keep learning about God? Maybe you guys will decide to listen to this podcast all over again.
00:09:09
Speaker
would be fun. Or you could decide to read a Bible storybook together. You could decide to listen to worship music in the car together. You could come to church.
00:09:22
Speaker
Or you could go to a Sunday school or a kids ministry. You could listen to another podcast or find other books about God. You could just try talking about God throughout your day or at dinner time or when happy things or sad things happen in your family.
00:09:39
Speaker
However you do it, friends, we want to help you. So today in our show notes, we've added some extra special resources. Kids and parents, there's stuff for both of you.
00:09:50
Speaker
It's our prayer that you remember God's great big love for you and that he wants you to be part of his family. Keep learning about him. Keep talking about him. And I can't wait to see how God uses you in his big story.
00:10:07
Speaker
Now, don't forget, God loves you with a great big love.
