Speaker: We're just normal kids learning about God's big story. Welcome to Normal Goes a Long Way. For kids! Welcome back, families. We are so happy for you to join us as we continue to learn all about God's big story.
Speaker: I'm Ms. April, and today we are learning how Jesus was God's son, and he was full of love. Last episode, I asked, what is something you have learned about God?
Speaker: Here is what you told us. He sent Jesus to die on the cross. I love this. I'm an adult, and I am still learning wonderful things about God. We are now going to hear from an awesome kid with some super fun facts about kids.
Speaker: um It's time for some fun facts. My name is Damian and I'm nine years old. Kids grow incredibly fast. A baby's brain will double in size during the first year of life. Kids are like sponges when it comes to learning.
Speaker: They learn new skills rapidly because their brains are flexible and excited to learn. Kids laugh around 300 times a day. You might already know this, but kids are awesome.
Speaker: Kids are good at having fun and trying new things. Kids are so good at showing their joy and delight. If you hear squealing and giggling, it's probably a kid.
Speaker: If you are a kid, you're amazing. Jesus loves kids. When Jesus was traveling around teaching and healing, he loved to take time for the children.
Speaker: He enjoyed spending time with them. When parents brought their children to him, he happily blessed the kids and prayed for them. The disciples, like other adults at the time, thought that the kids were a problem.
Speaker: They didn't want the kids bothering Jesus. They thought Jesus was way too important to be spending time with kids. And so they told the kids to go away. Whoa, this made Jesus angry.
Speaker: He said, let the children come to me. Don't stop them. For the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. Jesus loved that kids are curious and open to learning about the world.
Speaker: The kids naturally trusted Jesus and sensed his goodness. He wanted his disciples to notice this and be more like children. Jesus loved kids and he also had big love for his friends.
Speaker: Lazarus was a friend that Jesus was very close to. Jesus loved Lazarus and his sisters. He visited these friends often and they always took great care of him.
Speaker: One day when Jesus was teaching, a person came to him and said, Lord, your friend Lazarus is very sick. His sisters need you to come right away. Jesus thought about this for a moment and then said, God's son will be glorified through this sickness.
Speaker: The disciples wondered what Jesus meant by this. Two days later, as they traveled to Bethany, the disciples wondered why Jesus had waited so long to help his friend. As they got close to Lazarus's house, his sister Martha came running out to meet them.
Speaker: Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died, she cried. Jesus comforted her. He told Martha that Lazarus would rise again. Martha thought Jesus was talking about heaven.
Speaker: Jesus asked Martha if she truly believed in him. Martha said, yes, Lord, i have always believed that you are the son of God. Lazarus' sister Mary came out to see Jesus.
Speaker: She too cried and cried. Watching these sisters be so heartbroken over their brother overwhelmed Jesus. He too began to cry hard.
Speaker: People standing nearby said, Wow, see how much he loved him? But someone said, Jesus healed a blind man. Couldn't he have kept Lazarus from dying?
Speaker: Jesus was so upset to see his friends so sad. Friends, when you have a broken heart, when you are sick or very sad, Jesus cares so much about it.
Speaker: He is sad with you. He loves us so much and it hurts him to see us in pain. Jesus was devastated that his friend died, so he went to the place where Lazarus' body was buried.
Speaker: It was a cave with a large rock as the door. Take the stone away, Jesus ordered. He said, if you believe, you will see the glory of God. The disciples didn't understand what was going on, but they obeyed Jesus. They rolled away the stone and Jesus prayed, Father God, thank you for hearing my prayer about Lazarus.
Speaker: Then he turned towards the cave and shouted, Lazarus, come out. And Lazarus alive again out. Wow!
Speaker: The sisters and all the people gathered shouted for joy. They now truly understood that only the Son of God could have done such a miracle. So let's get to the point.
Speaker: Jesus loves children and I am important to him. Jesus lived life of great love. He considered every person important. He went out of his way to remind people that they are precious and loved.
Speaker: Jesus loved kids and he wanted all the adults to be reminded that kids are blessings. They certainly are. Today with your family answered this question. What is your favorite thing about being a kid?
Speaker: Make sure to tell us what your family talked about so we can feature you in an upcoming episode. Record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433.
