Today we will learn that Jesus was a fantastic storyteller. Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas:

Ask: Tell me about your favorite story. What is your favorite Bible story? Can you tell me about some of the stories Jesus told? (The Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son) (ages 2-5)

One of the coolest things Jesus did was walk on water. What do you think that would be like? Peter tried to walk on water but took his eyes off Jesus and went for a swim instead. What’s your favorite part about swimming? (ages 6-10)

When Jesus fed the 5,000 people, do you find it interesting that there were 12 baskets of leftover food? Why didn’t Jesus make just enough food for everybody? What do you think the little boy thought when he gave up his lunch? Do you think he had any idea that Jesus was going to use it to feed everybody? What does this miracle teach you about God’s power? (ages 11-12)

One last thing! This week April asked, “What is something that you have LEARNED about God?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. You may even be featured in an upcoming episode. *By sending in a voice memo, you’re providing consent for your minor’s voice to be on the podcast*

00:00:20
Speaker
I'm Miss April, and today we are learning how Jesus was no ordinary man.
00:00:25
Speaker
It became obvious to the people that there was something very different and very special about Jesus. People love to hear his stories because the stories moved their hearts and helped them understand God and helped them understand themselves better.
00:00:43
Speaker
Last episode, I asked, what is something you know only God can do? Here is what you told us. down the cross. Only God can make animals and bunnies.
00:00:56
Speaker
Miracles. So good to hear from you, friends.

Inspiration from Storytellers

00:01:00
Speaker
We are now going hear from an awesome kid with some super fun facts about authors who loved teaching kids.
00:01:10
Speaker
It's time for some fun facts. Dr. Seuss wrote The Cat in the Hat to help young readers love to read. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is based on the author's real life. He was often called a wild thing when he was a child.
00:01:24
Speaker
E.B. White, the author of Charlotte's Web, grew up on a farm and came up with stories by watching the animals.

Jesus as a Teacher

00:01:29
Speaker
Jesus was a teacher, a remarkable teacher. Jesus told amazing stories that taught people very important things.
00:01:38
Speaker
He was so good at teaching that crowds of people followed him around for days. One day, Jesus simply wanted to get some rest. He and his disciples decided to take a boat to the other side of the sea.

Miracles of Jesus

00:01:52
Speaker
As soon as they left the shore, Jesus fell into a deep sleep, and his friends kept quiet so that he could finally get some rest. While Jesus napped, the sky turned dark.
00:02:04
Speaker
The wind roared and the water became very choppy. The boat shook violently from side to side and water started to pour into the boat. Lightning lit up the sky and thunder boomed so loudly.
00:02:18
Speaker
The disciples were terrified. Help! They shouted as they held onto the side of the boat. Amazingly, Jesus was still fast asleep. The disciples woke him up saying, "'Teacher, don't you care if we drown?' Jesus woke up and then calmly spoke to the wind and the waves. "'Quiet down.
00:02:40
Speaker
Be still.' The wind and waves obeyed. the sea returned to calm, and the boat rocked gently back and forth." Jesus turned to his disciples.
00:02:53
Speaker
Why are you so afraid? indeed Don't you believe in me? The disciples were so shocked about what had just happened. They couldn't even speak. All they could do was wonder, who is this man?
00:03:07
Speaker
Even the wind and waves obey him. Another amazing event happened on a hillside as Jesus was teaching a large crowd. The people became hungry, but the disciples did not have any food to give them.
00:03:21
Speaker
A young boy stepped up offering five loaves of bread and two fish. The disciples were annoyed because this was not nearly enough food to feed a huge hungry crowd.
00:03:32
Speaker
Jesus told everyone to sit down on the grass. He held up the bread and fish and said a prayer of thanks. He gave the food to the disciples, telling them to share it with all the people.
00:03:43
Speaker
Amazingly, the disciples were able to give plenty of food to thousands of hungry people. There was so much food that 12 baskets full of bread and fish were left over.
00:03:55
Speaker
While people had showed up to hear Jesus' teachings, they got to see a miracle. Two little fish and five little loaves of bread miraculously multiplied to feed thousands of people.
00:04:07
Speaker
Everyone was learning that Jesus had amazing powers. He truly was the Son of God. Jesus loved to tell stories, and people loved to ask him questions.
00:04:19
Speaker
One day Jesus said, Love God and love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. A man asked, who is my neighbor? Jesus answered with this story.
00:04:31
Speaker
One day, man was walking down the road. Robbers jumped out and hurt him and stole everything he had. The man was left lying in the dirt. A pastor came along and he passed by the man without helping.
00:04:45
Speaker
A church leader walked by and he didn't stop to help him either. Finally, Samaritan came down the road. When he saw the hurt man, he felt sorry for him and ran over to help.
00:04:58
Speaker
He bandaged the man's sores and put him on a donkey. He took him to a place where he could stay and get better. Then Jesus asked, who was a neighbor to the hurt man?
00:05:09
Speaker
The people replied, the Samaritan who helped him. Jesus said, yes, be kind like that man. So let's get to the point.
00:05:20
Speaker
Jesus taught the people. I can also learn from Jesus. Jesus loved telling stories and teaching people about life with God. When we follow Jesus, we will always be learning from him.
00:05:32
Speaker
