178: KIDS VERSION - Paul's Final Days

Today we are learning more about Paul. Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas:

Ask: How did Paul serve God? (He taught people about God). Paul travelled to Rome on a boat. How do you travel? How can you serve God? (ages 2-5)

Paul says he doesn’t care if he goes to prison, he wants to finish the work that God gave him- which is to witness to others about God’s love. What are some ways you can show and tell others about God’s love? What kind of job do you want when you grow up? How can you serve God in that job (ages 6-9)

Paul is clear that salvation is a gift from God-nothing that’s deserved or can be earned. Since the Bible is so clear, why do people still believe they’ll go to heaven because of their good works? If you could share God’s love anywhere, where would you go? (ages 10-12)

One last thing! This week April asked, “What will you DO with all the love God has given you?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. You may even be featured in an upcoming episode. *By sending in a voice memo, you’re providing consent for your minor’s voice to be on the podcast*

Faith in Actions: Kids' Responses

00:00:13
Speaker
Welcome back to the podcast, friends. We are so happy that you are here to learn about God's big story. I'm Ms. April, and today we are learning more about Paul.
00:00:24
Speaker
Last episode, Ms. Hannah asked, How can your actions share more about your faith than your words? Here is what you told us. They can show that I love Jesus and not to be mean to other people and stuff.
00:00:37
Speaker
Your actions can teach people about Jesus by teaching them to pray and worship God. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your answers. We love hearing from you.

Fun Facts: Early Letter Delivery

00:00:51
Speaker
We are now going to hear from an awesome kid with some super fun facts about writing letters.
00:00:59
Speaker
It's time for us to float back! Before the postal system, letters were delivered by horseback riders and walkers. Paper used to be so expensive that people would fold letters and seal them with wax. This way they did not need to use an envelope.
00:01:14
Speaker
Today it costs 73 cents to mail a letter to a friend. When I was a kid, I loved to write letters. I loved using fun paper and stickers and cool pens. Creating the letter was so fun to me, and it was also a gift for the person that I sent the letter to.

Paul's Teachings about Jesus

00:01:31
Speaker
We have a cool gift in the Bible. Paul wrote letters too, and his letters are in the Bible for us to read. While he probably didn't use scratch and sniff stickers, he did write really important words to people so that they would understand who Jesus was and so that they would know how to follow him.

Paul's Journeys and Challenges

00:01:50
Speaker
Paul traveled all over the place. He went to many important cities and spoke with many leaders and rulers. He visited churches and talked to anyone who would listen to him.
00:02:01
Speaker
Paul wanted everyone to know about Jesus. People tried to stop him. They even had Paul arrested. But Paul used the opportunity to tell Caesar, the ruler of Rome, about his wonderful God.
00:02:15
Speaker
Paul was on a mission to help everyone know Jesus. He lived for God.

Paul's Shipwreck Experience

00:02:21
Speaker
One day he was on a ship and he could tell that it was not a good time to sail.
00:02:25
Speaker
He told the captain that they should wait, but the captain ignored him. Soon the ship was in a terrifying storm. Everyone was frightened and worried. Paul shouted over the crashing waves.
00:02:36
Speaker
Everything's gonna be all right. No one is gonna drown, but this ship is going to break up. God sent an angel to me and told me not to give up. Stay strong, friends. We will all make it to land.
00:02:50
Speaker
God is with us. That is exactly what happened. The ship fell apart, but everyone made it safely to land. People could tell that God was with Paul. This opened their hearts so that they too could understand that God was for them.

Paul's Mission: Sharing God's Love

00:03:08
Speaker
So let's get to the point. Paul lived for God and I can live for God too. It's amazing to learn about Paul. Once he understood who Jesus was, he lived his whole life for God.
00:03:19
Speaker
He wanted everyone to understand that God loved them and that Jesus has given all of us the gift of life with God forever. It's free. There is nothing we have to do to earn God's love and forgiveness.
00:03:32
Speaker
We just have it. It is our most precious gift.
