Today we heard the amazing story of Saul’s transformation into Paul! Parents, here are some conversation starters that can help you keep talking about this story!

Preschoolers: Paul sang songs to God, even when he was in prison! What are some of your favorite songs to sing to God? Can singing songs to God help you feel better when you’re in a bad mood or a bad situation?

Early Elementary: God did an amazing thing – He changed Paul’s heart! Paul then did an amazing thing – he changed his whole life and became a missionary! Would you ever become a missionary? Where would you like to go to share God’s love with people?

Older Elementary: Paul didn’t escape prison when his chains came off. Why do you think he did that? Would you have acted the same way? Talk together about a time when your actions spoke louder than your words. Parents, you share too!

One last thing! This week Hannah asked, “How can your ACTIONS share more about your faith than your words?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. You may even be featured in an upcoming episode. *By sending in a voice memo, you’re providing consent for your minor’s voice to be on the podcast*

I've been having so much fun telling these stories to you and I am a little sad that we are almost at the end. Now God's story is so big, there are even more stories than you've heard us tell you here on the podcast. so Just remember, you can always keep learning about God and his big story and his big love for you.

What do kids say about Jesus?

00:00:39
Speaker
So today we're going to hear your answers from last week's question. Ms. April asked us, what do you want people to know about Jesus? And here's what you told us.
00:00:49
Speaker
I want them to know that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. I want them to know that Jesus cares for them and that Jesus loves them. That he died on the cross for our sins and that he will always love us no matter what. I love those answers, friends.
00:01:05
Speaker
It sounds like you want everyone around you to know about Jesus' love. That's wonderful.

Fun Facts: The Human Eye

00:01:11
Speaker
So today get to hear about some facts from an awesome kid about our eyes.
00:01:21
Speaker
It's time for us to flow fast! The colorful part of our eye is called an iris. It helps control the amount of light that enters our eye. The optic nerve connects our eyes to our brain so that we can recognize faces and colors and objects. Our eyes can focus on things super fast.
00:01:36
Speaker
In just one tenth of a second, we can switch our attention from one thing to another. Amazing. See if you can tell what eyes have to do with today's Bible story.

Saul's Transformation to Paul

00:01:45
Speaker
Now for today's Bible story, I'm going to need you to grab those imagination caps.
00:01:50
Speaker
We get to use these every once in a while and it helps us imagine what it would be like to be in the story. So put your hands way up high, grab that imagination hat and pull it onto your head.
00:02:01
Speaker
Zoop. Alright, now the imagination hats are on let's get started. Hello and welcome to Breaking Bible News. I'm your host bringing you the latest updates from the first century.
00:02:13
Speaker
Today we have a shocking story. Saul, known for hunting down followers of Jesus and being really mean to them and throwing them in jail. Saul has suddenly switched sides?
00:02:23
Speaker
Let's go to our field reporter on Damascus and find out what's happening. That's right, I'm standing here with Saul who was traveling with official papers to arrest Christians. Eyewitnesses tell me that he saw a bright light from heaven flashing all around him.
00:02:39
Speaker
Let's hear from one of the men he was traveling with. They told me it was unbelievable, that the light was brighter than the sun. They even heard a voice, although only Saul understood what the voice was saying.
00:02:50
Speaker
And then... Saul fell to the ground and then when he stood up, he was blind. He couldn't see a thing. Incredible. The sources tell me that the voice claimed to be Jesus himself.
00:03:04
Speaker
Saul fell down, he got back up, he was blind and he had to be led into Damascus by the hand. Back to you in the studio. Thank you. Okay, we just received an update.
00:03:15
Speaker
There's a man named Ananias, a follower of Jesus, and he has visited Saul. Reports can confirm that Saul's sight has been miraculously restored. He can see again and now, wait a second, my notes tell me he's being called Paul now?
00:03:30
Speaker
What we're seeing here is a complete turnaround. He was Saul and now he's Paul. His name changed and he's preaching about Jesus. He used to arrest people for that.
00:03:41
Speaker
Some people are amazed, some people are confused. so But the one thing is clear, Paul looks like he has been changed forever.

Paul's Missionary Journeys

00:03:50
Speaker
Okay, we're fast forwarding now and we're tracking Paul on a missionary journey. A missionary is someone who travels all around to tell people about Jesus.
00:03:58
Speaker
He's been traveling all over the world, Antioch, Ephesus, Corinth, and he's telling people about Jesus? Whoa, he really must be changed. All right, let's go live to Philippi. Something unusual is happening.
00:04:12
Speaker
Yes, I'm here at the jail where Paul and his partner, Silas, were locked up all night. They had been beaten and chained and thrown into jail for preaching about Jesus. But get this, sources tell me that at midnight, they started singing, singing songs to God and praying.
00:04:29
Speaker
And then suddenly an earthquake shook the prison. The doors flew open, the chains came loose, but yeah, my notes tell me that the prisoners did not escape. The jailer was so scared he was going to lose his job and he was shaken. He said, what should I do?
00:04:45
Speaker
And Paul told him, believe in the Lord, believe in Jesus and you'll be saved. You and your whole family. Well, the jailer was very relieved to hear that, and so he took care of Paul, and that night, his whole family was baptized.
00:04:58
Speaker
What a turnaround. From Saul, the person who was throwing people in jail for talking about Jesus, to miraculously losing his sight, gaining his sight again, becoming Paul, and then becoming a missionary.

Encouragement to Share Jesus

00:05:11
Speaker
Wow, he sings in prison, he brings hope to people, and he shares the love of Jesus all over the world. Well, that's it for this edition of Breaking Bible News. Remember, when God changes a life, the whole world should hear about it. Have a good night.
00:05:27
Speaker
Okay, friends, let's take off that imagination helmet. And let's get to the point. Jesus wants everyone to know him. I can share Jesus with my friends. That's right. Jesus wants everyone to know him.
00:05:39
Speaker
Even Saul. Saul was persecuting. That means he was being really mean to people that loved Jesus. And Jesus even wanted him understand his great big love.
00:05:51
Speaker
If Jesus can change Saul's heart, Jesus can change anyone's heart. he wants you to share Jesus with everyone. Paul's actions really showed us that he loved God. His heart was changed by God and he wanted the whole world to know.
00:06:09
Speaker
So this week, talk about with your family how your actions can share your faith even more than your words can. We want to hear what you talk about. So take a voice memo, text it in to us so we can share it with the rest of the podcast listeners next week.
00:06:25
Speaker
And don't forget, friends, God loves you with a great big love.
