Today we will learn about Jesus performing many miracles and allowing people to experience the power of God. Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas: *Tell me some things that are powerful. What do you think is the most powerful thing on earth? How did Jesus show God’s power (He performed many miracles) (ages 2-5) *When John baptized Jesus, a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him.” How does it feel when your parents say those words about you? What are some things you can do to please your parents? (ages 6-10) *Jesus called a wide variety of people to be his disciples-fisherman, tax collectors, revolutionaries—why didn’t Jesus call more powerful people like religious and government leaders? Think of the Christians you know. Are they all the same? Why does jesus call people with different interests and personalities to follow him? (ages 11-12) One last thing! This week April asked, “What is something you know ONLY God can do?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. You may even be featured in an upcoming episode. *By sending in a voice memo, you’re providing consent for your minor’s voice to be on the podcast* Normal Goes A Long Way Website: https://www.normalgoesalongway.com/ Normal Goes A Long Way Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/normalgoesalongway/ Normal Goes A Long Way Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SeekTheStill/https://www.facebook.com/Normal-Goes-A-Long-Way-110089491250735 Normal Goes A Long Way is brought to you by Messiah St. Charles: https://messiahstcharles.org/ Normal Goes A Long Way is hosted on Zencastr. Speaker: following podcast is a Jill dev Divine Media production. we We're just normal kids learning about God's big story. Welcome to Normal Goes a Long Way.

Speaker: For kids! Hello everybody. Welcome back as we continue to learn all about God's big story. I'm April and today we are learning about Jesus' interesting cousin, his amazing baptism, and his powerful ministry of healing people. It's going to be a good one.

Speaker: Last episode, I asked, why do you think God sent his son to be a savior for everyone? Here is what you told us. So that people can learn about him and he can tell them what they should and shouldn't do.

Speaker: So he can have some help and then so he can make sure more people will help. like him so they can trust God. Great thinking friends. Thank you for sharing.

Speaker: Now we are going to hear from an awesome kid with some super fun facts about John the Baptist.

Speaker: It's time for Saphobats. My name is Ellie Mae and i'm seven years old. John the Baptist was a messenger from God, prepared people to meet Jesus.

Speaker: John loved to teach people about God's forgiveness. He wore clothes made out of camel hair. Ew. Like all other babies in the world, baby Jesus grew up. He lived in the small town of Nazareth and played with the neighborhood children. He had brothers and sisters and cousins.

Speaker: He learned how to play games and get along with everyone. He got sick and then he got well. He celebrated birthdays and helped his family at home. He had favorite foods and foods he didn't like at all.

Speaker: He was kid. He watched Joseph work in his workshop as a carpenter, and he too became a carpenter just like his father. On the outside, he was so much like all the other Jewish boys, but on the inside, he was different.

Speaker: He was God's son. When Jesus was a grown man, he traveled to the Jordan River where his cousin John was teaching and baptizing people.

Speaker: Everybody talked about John the Baptist. He dressed strangely and he taught people about God with a strong passion. Be baptized and turn your hearts to God, he preached.

Speaker: More and more people were listening to John and their hearts knew that he was telling them something important. When Jesus arrived, John's listeners crowded the riverbanks.

Speaker: Jesus made his way through the crowd and into the cool water. Jesus asked his cousin John to baptize him. John protested, no, you should baptize me.

Speaker: But Jesus put his hand on John's shoulder and told him that this is what he wanted. Right there in the Jordan River, John baptized Jesus while all the people watched.

Speaker: Jesus started to pray. The sky opened up and the Spirit of God came floating down like a dove and rested on Jesus' shoulder. A voice from heaven boomed across the countryside.

Speaker: This is my son whom I love. I am very pleased with him. Can you imagine hearing God's voice out loud? God spoke. He called Jesus his son.

Speaker: Everyone knew that this Jesus was very special. Jesus quickly became known as a great teacher and an amazing healer. Everywhere he went, people gathered around him wanting to hear him teach.

Speaker: Many people brought their sick friends and sick family, hoping that Jesus could help them. In Cana, Jesus made a rich man's son well. In Bethesda, Jesus healed a man who couldn't walk.

Speaker: In Jerusalem, his touch made a crippled woman all better. Jesus showed power that had to come from God. More and more people were convinced that this was the Savior that God had promised.

Speaker: So many people were gathering to see Jesus. Sometimes the crowd got so big that people couldn't get close enough to hear him or see him. Once he was preaching in a house, it was full of people and then people were gathering at the doors and the windows as well.

Speaker: A group of men wanted so much for Jesus to help their sick friend, but they couldn't get inside the house. They climbed onto the top of the house and cut a big hole in the roof so that they could lower their friend down to Jesus. they knew that Jesus could help. They knew that Jesus could heal, and he did. Jesus said to the sick man, your sins are forgiven. Get up, take your mat, and go home.

Speaker: The man was immediately healed. Everyone who saw this was amazed. So let's get to the point. Jesus showed people the power of God. I can look for God's power in my life too.

Speaker: It must have been amazing to watch Jesus perform miracles. To see a blind person see for the first time. To watch someone who couldn't walk, get up and walk home.

Speaker: Incredible! Jesus was powerful because Jesus is God. His awesome power is still at work in the world today. Whenever I see a newborn baby, I am reminded of God's amazing power.

Speaker: Only God can create a person. Talk with your family. What is something that you know God do?

Speaker: Make sure to tell us what your family talked about so we can feature you in an upcoming episode. Record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. We can't wait to hear from you don't forget god loves you with a great big love
