Food Product Innovations

00:01:25
Speaker
Hey, what's going on? Not much, man. are you doing? Doing good. Doing good. good Got a lot to talk about. lot to talk about. So let's jump right into it with a Fat Fuck segment.
00:01:37
Speaker
Buffalo Wild Wings. First off, let's start with that.
00:01:49
Speaker
buffalo wild wings first off let's start with that um In Walmart, I know for sure Walmart, they sell all the sauces. Any sauce you get at Buffalo Wild Wings, they have there now.
00:02:01
Speaker
They're also coming out with two new dips, Parmesan garlic and creamy buffalo dips. I'm not sure anything more than what I saw from these pictures here online. But wanted to bring that up. The other things I wanted to bring up, um luckily this is in the UK, but KFC is teaming up with an ice cream over there, a gelato, and to make gravy-flavored limited-edition ice cream. That sounds fucking disgusting. It looks disgusting.
00:02:30
Speaker
Especially when they put chicken nuggets on top of it, in actual gravy. Oh, We're going to skip on that. um Wendy's. Surprisingly, it took this long. I'm surprised it didn't happen during COVID.
00:02:43
Speaker
um I believe Walmart, maybe another Kroger's or one of the grocery stores is teaming up with Wendy's for frozen ground beef patties in the square shape. I'm surprised it took this long, to be honest. COVID, we saw a lot of restaurants end up putting their sauces, their flavors. Texas Roadhouse has their most popular thing. Their honey butter rolls are in the frozen food section at Walmart.
00:03:09
Speaker
It all happened during COVID. Arby's has their Arby's sauce. um You can get all the... Any sauce you can think of, you can get Arby's. um What's the other one? Oh, sweet onion chicken teriyaki. You can get that sauce from Subway at Walmart now.
00:03:22
Speaker
Yep. um But yeah, Wendy's coming out with their burgers there in the frozen food section. Kroger's um in Ohio and Colorado is testing it right now. um The other thing, releasing in September, im not I don't know if we talked about Butterfingers. One of my favorite candy bars. i Me too. feelings I love Butterfingers.
00:03:40
Speaker
They're coming out with marshmallow-covered Butterfinger. Marshmallow and peanut butter go... great together. That sounds good. Comes out in September. When those come out, we will definitely be taste testing them on the podcast. I love Butterfingers. Me too.
00:03:54
Speaker
Looks like a white chocolate, but they're saying it's marshmallow, so must be marshmallow flavored white chocolate. I hate white chocolate. Yeah, I'm not a big huge fan of it either. so um What we

Baseball Hall of Fame Rule Changes

00:04:03
Speaker
watched this week. Let's jump right into a Teach Ray Sports.
00:04:08
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports. We need a theme for teach race sports. I couldn't think of anything that would be original. I stole this instrumental from the Gary Shanley Show.
00:04:19
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports.
00:04:27
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports. I figured you'd want to talk about this this week because it's pretty big news in baseball. um The rules have changed as far as who can be inducted into the Hall of Fame, especially if they have been kicked out of any requirements to be in it.
00:04:46
Speaker
The big ones, of course, Pete Rose for gambling, Shoeless Joe Jackson's the other one from the 1920s, right?
00:04:57
Speaker
They were ineligible to be in the Hall of Fame while they were alive. And as far as I, what I understand this week is the rules have changed to where it's a lifetime banning.
00:05:08
Speaker
So once they're dead, they're obviously not alive, so the life part of that being is expired. So they can be put in the Hall of Fame after their death. A lot of controversy to that, because a lot of people say, well, shit, Pete Rose should have been put in while he was alive to kind of um Have a little bit of Retribution Experience it Now that he's dead Like who's gonna experience it I don't know if he has He's in the WWE Hall of Fame He's doing fine I guess that's worth it Being Tombstone by Kane A couple WrestleManias in a row In Boston In Boston of course um But yeah i but beside Besides what I said I mean is that basically The gist of What's going on with Pete Rose Essentially And Sheila's show Yeah Basically I know Sheila's show should've been in A long time ago I think Pete Rose should've also
00:05:53
Speaker
I know you mentioned to me off off pod the the Black Sox, the big, huge controversy with that. and and Isn't Shoeless Joe part of that? Yep, he's one of the eight players. ah We're going to deep dive into that sometime this summer. i'm not sure yeah we're going to.
00:06:06
Speaker
There's another movie. We'll see. Or we could wait. We could wait maybe until playoffs or maybe even next fast spring, but we'll do it at some point because that's gonna be a big topic for me. Yeah, especially I was obsessed with that back in the day.
00:06:19
Speaker
When does the Baseball Hall of Fame announcement come out usually? like with the It already was announced. theduct They go in the same day Fantastic Four comes out. It's the week of the inductions.
00:06:29
Speaker
Okay, so they already know who's going in for this year. Okay. Do you know when that usually announces it? be The beginning of the year usually? ah January, I believe. Okay, okay. well So yeah, I don't want to wait that long. We'll get into Shula's show probably

Michael Jordan Documentary

00:06:40
Speaker
playoffs. Yeah.
00:06:40
Speaker
By buy the playoffs. But yeah, I did want to mention that. ah The other part of this is what we watched. I did finish the Last Dance documentary. This is a fantastic documentary.
00:06:51
Speaker
um Of course, everybody knows that. It's been around forever. i'm Talking about Michael Jordan, and like I mentioned last week, Yeah.
00:07:06
Speaker
um didn't get into much after i was wondering if they were gonna get into michael after he left the bulls ah go wizards right they didn't get any any that stuff um But Episode 8 tackled pretty much his pettiness in competition.
00:07:19
Speaker
um When people were saying rude shit to him while he was playing the game, he would say, okay, I'll remember that. And the next game he would just douse them in fucking points and just destroy them.
00:07:30
Speaker
um Did it all on the court. um He returned to the Bulls in 1995 after his retirement because the baseball had a strike. Baseball had strikes. um And to be in solidarity with the White Sox...
00:07:43
Speaker
He ended up quitting baseball at the time, walked out. So he ended up going to practice where the Chicago Bulls were practicing and just showed up a few times and then ended up getting the bug back. And the rest is history. comes back in 95, changes his number 45, goes for 23, which is iconic for Jordan.
00:08:02
Speaker
It goes to 45 because basically it was his high school number, but also it was all had to do with his father. His father only saw him play as number 23, so he wanted something different to be a for a different era for his life. Mm-hmm.
00:08:17
Speaker
he end up A few games later, ended up bringing it back to 23 just because he just thought he had bad luck with it. And lot of people in the media were complaining about... um ah match In the Magic Finals, Nick Anderson actually said 45 is not 23. Number 45 is not number 23. They ended up losing in 95 the Finals. He ends up coming in, was it the middle of the season?
00:08:39
Speaker
um yeah Yeah, around the trade deadline, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's when they end up coming in to the team. So it wasn't even the beginning of the season. So he came into a team that was already kind of struggling. but um You mentioned it last week, talked a little bit about Space Jam, and training simultaneously for the NBA at the time, um bringing in some of NBA's best players, um and coming into Orlando while where he was filming or somewhere, I can't remember, maybe it was l LA, and had a whole tent filled up with with basketball hoops and holes ah whole setup, and he'd bring people in there secretly to ah to train during during the whole time. So he's training.
00:09:16
Speaker
Filming all in one day. Crazy schedule. Probably exhausting himself out. um Rodman arrives in 1995. Talked about the rivalry in the beginning of him with the Pistons.
00:09:30
Speaker
Actually coming to the Bulls in 1995. And then that team of Rodman, Pippen, and Jordan end up having a win in 1996 for the beginning of their first their second three-peat.
00:09:42
Speaker
That was episode eight. Episode nine talks about the 1998 semifinals versus Larry Bird led Pacers. he was the He was the head coach of the Pacers at the time. Reggie Miller being the the main star of that team. Who else was on that team? There's another familiar name.
00:09:59
Speaker
I can't remember off top. Was Smith's part of that team? The big white dude? Yeah, I think so. um talking about the yeah Talked about the rivalry with Reggie Miller. ah Jordan's particular rivalry with him.
00:10:11
Speaker
um Talked about the 97 finals ah versus the Utah Jazz with John Stockton and Carl Malone. I know that team was big in the 90s as well. Just those two together on the team is yeah two two Hall Famers, of course.
00:10:25
Speaker
um And Game 5 in Utah... Jordan was in a hotel room. They ordered a pizza and there's speculation that the pizza was poisoned because they knew Jordan was in the hotel room by somebody in Ohio who was obviously doing it for the Utah Jazz, probably a Utah Jazz fan.
00:10:42
Speaker
But the speculation is that ah Jordan was poisoned by a local pizza restaurant or somebody who ever delivered the pizza. Um, and he ends up being sick in game five and throwing up and for some, somehow came out of that and ended up getting a whole bunch of points at the end. I don't remember if they won that game or not, but, um, yeah, they did. They did. Yeah. Okay.
00:11:05
Speaker
Um, Steve Kerr talked a little bit about him too. White guy, tall guy. Um, his, his parallels with him and Jordan's father,
00:11:16
Speaker
um His father, his story was incredible. i'd love to see a documentary. They did get into it on this, but um his father was a teacher, ended up going to somewhere in the Arab countries and got murdered, got shot in the head. and He was in college, I believe, at the time.
00:11:31
Speaker
um Steve Kerr. So yeah, crazy story of him as well. and they kind of had a bonding between him and Jordan because of that. um And they end up winning again for the second time

TV & Movie Reviews

00:11:40
Speaker
in a row for the finals in 1997. And then they flat fast forward to 1998, Game 7 on the Eastern Conference Championship, and return for a third consecutive year to the NBA Finals.
00:11:53
Speaker
um And that's where it leads off the final, the last dance, episode 10, Utah Jazz, 1998, facing them again. Jordan's kids, you see them for the first time. They're doing interviews at the beginning of this episode.
00:12:07
Speaker
um The one thing that I'll always remember from this documentary is Dennis Rodman skipping practice after game three. To go to WCW and join forces with Hulk Hogan in the NWO.
00:12:24
Speaker
I had no idea he actually skipped out on the NBA Finals to do this. i remember I remember seeing the clips. I don't remember if I was watching. Was that when he fell asleep on the ring apron? Yeah.
00:12:36
Speaker
um Or was that later? Yes. I don't remember. But I do remember him. right a while And then he shows up the next day. He's like, who needs practice? And, of course, he shows and proves everybody wrong.
00:12:48
Speaker
He's scooping put you scooping but buckets. He's doing his's winning. um Even after skipping out on them. They were kind of all pissed about it. but um But he ah ends up helping them win their game four. um They end up winning game six, and they have their second three-peat in the 1990s.
00:13:03
Speaker
um And that's where it leaves off. The team restructures after that. They get into it briefly, but the coach leaves. Pippen leaves. ah Gets traded. Rodman leaves. Jordan's gone. And he retires for a second time, but I know he comes back for the Wizards, right? Because he owns the team or something. yeah As far as I know. But um it's funny that This always happens with this podcast. Every time we talk about something, something happens in the news that has to do with that. So this week it was announced that Michael Jordan is going to serve as a special kind ah contributor for NBC Sports when the NBA returns to broadcast television.
00:13:38
Speaker
In October. And I know they have a deal with, is it TNT, TBS now? Does that mean that deal is over and the NBC is taking that deal over now? Is that what this is all about? They just might have a different deal with NBC. I'm not sure, maybe, because they're on ESPN and ABC also.
00:13:55
Speaker
Right, okay. And they're on TNT. So maybe, I don't know. Yeah, it's funny. Yeah, it's so funny. i mean we talk We talk about this every once a while, how we talk about something in thorough on the podcast, and a news item like this comes out, Michael Jordan. Nobody's heard about him in probably five years since his documentary came out, and all of a sudden he's going be I mean, I was wondering this the whole time. is Why did he never coach?
00:14:18
Speaker
Why did he never be a part of the NBA after he retired for the last time? He's a fucking terrible owner. Right. And just because you're a good player doesn't mean There's no way he would be a good coach. Zero percent chance. I mean, he just has a good eye for for the game. So I don't know. do you see how he treats his teammates sometimes? Like if they don't perform?
00:14:37
Speaker
But I'm wondering, right. I'm wondering how a coach he drafted a coach, Michael, would think like that, though. Um, when, here's an example, when he was with the Warriors, uh, Wizards, sorry, um, they drafted this kid, Kwame Brown, who was this 18 year old out of high school, and he wasn't quote unquote hustling enough on like the second practice, and Michael Jordan said that faggot's not allowed back on this court for a week.
00:15:01
Speaker
Wow. Okay. So I don't think he could handle the way that a lot of these kids have been, have been, um, Okay.
00:15:13
Speaker
that they've been i mean most these nba kids have been coddled they ten years old is the show that you sort of promised oh most not all but i don't think he'd be a very good coach and he'd probably be a terrible and he's a terrible owner so right now he owns he's still out of the wizards and he owns bob katz i believe ah got sure yeah, that's Michael Jordan. That's basketball talk. We did a we did good throw job.
00:15:36
Speaker
Started with Celtic City. We talked a lot about that. Talked a lot about the Celtics. Winning time. And then it ended on Michael Jordan. Getting into the finals now. One thing about the Celtics. Since last week, Jason Tatum went down.
00:15:50
Speaker
Yeah, crazy. With his torn Achilles. And we talked about how much he loved Kobe. Jason Tatum tore his Achilles with three minutes and eight seconds left in the fourth quarter.
00:16:00
Speaker
The same exact time that was on the clock when Kobe tore his Achilles in the game. Wow. Which I thought was fucking crazy. um I saw that stat this morning and thought it was kind of interesting. Yeah, wonder when i heard when I heard he played through that injury the whole game and then all of a sudden at the end it just kicked out on him. That's crazy.
00:16:17
Speaker
Yeah, he had knee. But understandably. yeah He had like a knee or an ankle situation. He was playing on that. He was trying to, like right before that happened he was trying but he's working with the trainer on it and then it just gave out when he went for loose ball.
00:16:29
Speaker
Yeah, shifting the weight. Yeah, I get that. Mob land. ah Great show. I did want to talk about the origins of the show. I knew about it last week. I forgot to talk about it. But this show was supposed to be a prequel to Donovan.
00:16:42
Speaker
I was going to talk about Ray Donovan. That's where it started. um Liev Shriver, I don't know what happened. Somewhere in Paramount, it admit they passed on it. So they ended up changing the story, of the origin being in Britain.
00:16:55
Speaker
um and they brought the whole story as a prequel in this in this British family. But it was going to be a whole prequel to Ray Donovan. Interesting. It shifted in the middle production. I didn't want to bring that up. Great show,

Star Wars Series Discussion

00:17:06
Speaker
episode seven.
00:17:07
Speaker
um There's a war going on between these two families. Just incredible. um Tom Harding's great. talked about him in a little bit, too, on a movie I watched this week. It was on Netflix. um Bondsman, the second half series.
00:17:19
Speaker
quick show to get through on amazon prime lot of not a lot more than what i've already told you about it yeah um it's a demon hunter coming to earth um but it's fantastic part spawn yep yep and uh yeah part spawn in the end there's a really cool twist that happens it sets up a great season two i'd like to see where that goes um episode nine of the studio jesus christ the show is awesome ah They go to CinemaCon. They're going to be presenting Kool-Aid.
00:17:48
Speaker
the The star of this episode was definitely Bryan Cranston. yep Bringing in his comedic chops was incredible. um But Rhea Perlman came in starred as Matt's mother, Seth Rogen's mother.
00:18:04
Speaker
um Dave Franco is a big part of this episode as well. The better Franco, as I like to say. um His drug dealer sells Seth Rogen's character mushrooms and some other drugs. so He ends up having an old-fashioned Hollywood old-fashed hollywood party yes after CinemaCon or the night before CinemaCon. He doesn't know what the mushrooms, like how much an eighth of a mushroom is.
00:18:26
Speaker
Right. like So that's.25? trying Well, let's just say he messes up the dosage and everybody that he works for, everybody that works for him, ends up getting getting crazy and gets high as fuck, including...
00:18:41
Speaker
his boss, Bryan Cranston, who is just out of his mind on drugs. yeah snorting He's snorting anything, any substance.
00:18:53
Speaker
It's incredible. Great, great episode. um And it leaves off the cliffhanger of seeing where this is going. They're looking for Bryan Cranston. He's lot lost in a Las Vegas hotel room somewhere. um He does all the drugs. Yeah.
00:19:05
Speaker
um Can't wait for next week's finale. um The Last of Us last of us Episode 5. A couple more episodes left of this show. um this big The big thing about this episode is the very last few minutes.
00:19:18
Speaker
um And we see the spores. Which are a big huge part of the game. I remember that. It was airborne. um and
00:19:28
Speaker
Yeah, she ends up killing one of the girls who kills, who killed Joel. The one that actually held her down while, what's her name? can't, batted him in with a head. That's her name, yeah.
00:19:41
Speaker
Um, I guess the, I heard the, uh, the scene with the spores is actually just a leftover set from the show Shogun, so they just used it for that. Um, that's a fun fact for you. But, um, Yeah. that Yeah, great show.
00:19:55
Speaker
That chick's like, what she'd say, she's like, you know what he did? And she's like, yep. And then, of course, next week we're going get the flashback episode. Yes. Which will fill in a lot of, because I told you there was a lot of stuff they left out, a very important scene from the game they left out. So that'll be next week.
00:20:10
Speaker
Yeah, we kind of figured that they're they're going to be doing this before the end. And, yeah, the end of this episode left off with Joel entering a room. Ellie was waking up and and woke her up and was like, oh, shit, we're get a whole episode with Pedro back again, which is awesome. so Yeah, can't wait. So that'll be next week.
00:20:26
Speaker
And we had a finale this week. Andor. Chapter 4, episodes 10 through 12. Way too many episodes for four weeks of television. Not used to that. We're used to the week-to-week now. um But there was a lot that happened.
00:20:41
Speaker
There was such an epic high last week. I kind of figured it wasn't going to hit that high, but we knew where that we were going. We're going to Rogue One. By the way, we are going to review re-review Rogue One.
00:20:53
Speaker
um my I know you're not as high on it as I am, My favorite post-Disney Star Wars project... is Rogue One, and I'm wondering if I feel still feel the same way after watching Andor.
00:21:08
Speaker
And I wonder if it's still like ah right three a or three and a 3.5 for me. I think I might like it more, appreciate it more. Because my whole issue with Rogue One has always been that I just don't care about any of the characters and don't really know anyone's name except for Andor and Jyn.
00:21:22
Speaker
Well, Andor been hammered Andor ahead now. I've got to care about characters for me to love a movie. yeah And to me, it was just propped up based on like one really cool Darth Vader scene. And the rest of the movie was just okay Beautiful movie, but it was just okay to Yeah, it did look fantastic. I remember It felt, like I said, it was the first and only 40X movie I saw.
00:21:42
Speaker
um yeah um Episode 10 talked about lot about Galen, who was played by the Skarsgård father. I can't remember his name, but Skarsgård plays Galen. Stellan?
00:21:52
Speaker
Stellan Skarsgård? Stellan Skarsgård, yep. Father of all the Skarsgårds. Yes. Talks about his sacrifice for the Rebellion. And the whole time he's working on Coruscant, he's selling all of this antiquities and this in this underground place on Coruscant.
00:22:09
Speaker
um And as he's feeling the pressure of the Empire closing in on him, um The ultimate sacrifice is, of course, killing yourself, so none of those secrets go away. So he ends up stabbing himself um as he's being arrested by Imperials.
00:22:24
Speaker
um Stormtroopers, you see them with no helmets, which looked kind of fucking weird. They were all around Coruscant with no helmets, with guns. So you see them with guns. um You kind of see a weird flashback in the beginning of when Luthan meets his assistant, who he ends up calling his daughter, um kind of adopts her, kind of.
00:22:42
Speaker
I'm wondering if that's in the Clone Wars. is He's on out on a war planet of some wars, and it's a lieutenant or an admiral or something. They didn't really... Yeah. Timeline-wise, I'm not sure about it.
00:22:55
Speaker
It would kind of sync up with the Clone Wars, but I'm not sure. um But that was episode 10. Episode 11, Luthan, Gallon, whatever his name is, Skarsgard, is on the planet dead.
00:23:07
Speaker
His assistant is stuck there. Andor doesn't know that. Cassian doesn't know that. So Cassian has a recovery mission. He gets a signal to go to Coruscant and try to save them. He doesn't know that Luthan has already passed.
00:23:22
Speaker
So when he gets there, he finds his assistant. She's all shaken up. She's kind of been cornered. in a room hiding out from the Empire. And the next thing we know, K2SO goes fucking ballistic and just throws motherfuckers, Imperial officers off bridges and just knocks them out.
00:23:40
Speaker
um Great episode. He saved ends up saving Luton's assistant. They go off planet. Is your favorite droid? You think that's your favorite droid? I just love Alan Tudyk. I just love Alan Tudyk. I can't wait to see him in Superman. see what we'll see what he does with the Superman droids. But...
00:23:55
Speaker
um In episode 12, the finale, we knew where this was leading. We know we're getting right to the beginning of Rogue One. um We also knew we probably weren't going to see much of Cassian's story of how we got to the beginning.
00:24:06
Speaker
ah I knew that was kind of going to be left open, but um we see the Rebellion taking full shape, full form. um The Death Star, we hear the full revelations of the Death Star.
00:24:17
Speaker
the The Rebels know about it now. um All the pieces are in place for Rogue One, and then the very end of of this episode, the last minute. um We're wondering, where is Bix?
00:24:29
Speaker
The last three episodes, she left Planet, left Andor, said, you fight for the Rebellion. I don't want to be your puzzle piece to keep you um from going and fighting the Rebellion. I'm leaving you, and you're going to be fighting.
00:24:42
Speaker
um So, that's what ends up happening. Andor, of course, perishes in Rogue One, spoiler. um And we're you're wondering, what the fuck happened to Bix? What happened to his girlfriend he loves so much, left him?
00:24:54
Speaker
Well, there's hope there. Cassian had a baby. last Last scene we see is Bix going through that field in the beginning of the series at the beginning of the season um that they were around on that planet with all the wheat field.
00:25:07
Speaker
yeah And she's holding a baby. She's holding yep Andor's baby. She's holding Poe Dameron, according to reports. Wow. I did not hear that. That would be... I think it's just a fan theory, but that's what heard. That would be fucking crazy. I did not hear that.
00:25:26
Speaker
That'd be kind of cool, too, at the same time, if that's the lore going forward. But they're like, I guess it could be Poe. yeah Yeah, timeline. I guess that would match up. You're right. Holy shit. yeah um But yeah, so it kind of leaves hope for the rebellion. Like, even though Andor, you know that he perishes, he does have, everything was not done for nothing.
00:25:46
Speaker
he saved and He's saving a whole entire future generation, including his own son that he didn't know about. Unfortunately, he didn't know about it, but he is in the future. Just like Rey is the future. Just like Kylo, unfortunately, is the future. Rey Skywalker.
00:26:02
Speaker
Yeah, the sad part about this show ending is I don't think we're ever going to anything as good as this in Star Wars again. I don't think so either. it just You just have to have the you have to have the right creators in place. I have hope.
00:26:13
Speaker
I have hope. Right. That's all you can hope hope it will at some point, but you never know. Yeah, great show. Probably, yeah, like I mentioned, last week's episode, episode 8, I think it was,
00:26:24
Speaker
Best episode of television for Star Wars has been out since Disney purchased it. So, yeah. yeah wella We'll talk about Star Wars again, fuck, a year from now when Mandalorian and Grogu will be the next thing that comes out. so Yep.
00:26:37
Speaker
Actually, I think a year from today. Favorite TV movie in the theaters. Yep, it's going to be the epic finale on the big

Wrestling History & Sabu Tribute

00:26:43
Speaker
screen. And I'll wait. um Dark Side of the Ring. Did you end up watching this? Yes, I did. The original Sheik.
00:26:50
Speaker
Wow, what a great episode. It was incredible. the timing The timing for this... I don't want to say it couldn't been perfect, but it was perfect this week because we lost somebody that was in this episode, heavily featured in this episode.
00:27:03
Speaker
Sabu, which we're going talk about in a minute, but, um, the original sheet came out in the fifties. Um, the Arab scare at the time, I know there's, uh, the Libyan, Libyan stuff was happening in the seventies.
00:27:16
Speaker
Vince McMahon did this a lot too, where they would take, uh, Something that Americans were afraid of, and they would elevate on television, especially, um of course, we know Muhammad Hassan, which they're going to be doing an episode on, think, in the thinking two weeks for Dark Side.
00:27:30
Speaker
um I mean, in the 40s, they had somebody me who was like a Nazi, Baron Vaughn, something. yeah Right, and they had the Russian stuff going on in the 80s with Ivan Koloff and all that stuff. um But he was an originator in a lot of hardcore wrestling.
00:27:44
Speaker
The first one to bring snakes to the ring, Jake Snake Roberts, first one to really show blood like blood loss and getting and cutting yourself and really really making it a red crimson mask on your face when you're wrestling. Yeah. um Also was one of the first people to bring fireballs to America.
00:28:02
Speaker
yeah And that was used by everybody in the 90s, especially in ECW. Hardcore innovation to its finest. um It also pioneered in video production. was and he had a I can't remember where it was.
00:28:16
Speaker
and was in the Midwest somewhere. He had a territory. And he ended up bringing a video video team in there and recording the shows. um Had not been done, this is early, like 60s. It wasn't being done anywhere else. He was one of the first people to do that.
00:28:30
Speaker
um Later on in the 80s, after he was kind of done wrestling, kind of, because ended up coming back in the 90s. But um he ended up training training his nephew, Sabu.
00:28:42
Speaker
Sabu brought in Rob Van Dam. He trained Rob Van Dam. Two big pioneers of ECW this guy trained. The other question, before we get into Sabu news, the other question I have for you.
00:28:55
Speaker
How the fuck is Abdul the Butcher the only one of all of these crazy motherfuckers that is still alive with everything that he's been through, even though he's in a wheelchair now? How the fuck is he still alive? He's also like 87. He's got like Hep A, Hep B, Hep Z, Z. He's got the whole alphabet. Yeah. He does. Like how? I don't know man. There must be something that he and Ron Jeremy were eating in the 80s bro. Oh boy. Avoid being dead. Wow. Yeah he was in this. Is Ron Jeremy still with us? Cause if so, that man has to. He's. Ron Jeremy in prison. That man has dodged the bullets like Neo in the Matrix.
00:29:32
Speaker
Ron Jeremy's in prison for sexual assaulting people. Oh, yeah. He's up there in the Weinstein cases. He's been he's been canceled. Never mind. And did he? Take that. take that um Sabu. Let's talk about Sabu. Rest in peace to Sabu.
00:29:47
Speaker
Came out this week. He just had a match a couple weeks ago. So I hadd heard about him. Supposed to be his final retirement match. um two weeks later he passes away. So obviously the connections everybody's saying is, wow, did he go too hard in that match? Was it something he took? Was drug-related?
00:30:04
Speaker
He's only 60 years old, there's all these questions now about his passing. him being 60 is like... He's 80, 90. Me being like in my 70s right now. Right. If you saw him now, right.
00:30:16
Speaker
He put out of anybody, anybody in wrestling, Mick Foley, he put so much into his ring performance. Between him, Mick Foley, if you just look at that picture there, look at all the scars on his stomach. That's not, those aren't,
00:30:31
Speaker
i mean Actually, i don't i don't have that one on here. We're talking about a guy who ripped his bicep open on barbed wire, or right here open on barbed wire, and instead of going to the hospital, he grabbed a tube of super glue from under the ring mid-match, glued it together, and then continued for 25 minutes.
00:30:48
Speaker
Fucking crazy. ah Yeah, but rest in peace to Sabu. He had a run in It was a great run. I heard a funny Sabu story last night. um The boys um over at Spitball were talking about him because they had one of them worked with him in the last 15 years like doing shows.
00:31:06
Speaker
And he said that they've been friends on Facebook and Sabu would send him those Facebook games that like people in their 50s play. kept sending to him. wow And I guess John like texted him. He's like, bro, I think your Facebook got hacked. like Somebody keeps sending me games for your account, and somebody was like, no, that was me.
00:31:23
Speaker
That's funny. Yeah, but rest in peace to Sabu. His time was short in WWE. um He got arrested with Rob Van Dam. Rob Van Dam had just won the World Heavyweight title from John Cena.
00:31:34
Speaker
They got arrested for having pot in a car. um robin dan lost the title i believe they fired sabu either that or he was suspended then i can't remember i think he was suspended and then later fired i don't think he ever came back yeah don't think he ever came back after that it's kind of the ending of his career over there but um iconic iconic ecw like if you have a mount rushmore of ecw wrestler wrestlers yep taz sabu robin dan who would you put in the fourth fourth spot I'd like to put New Jack. You put me on the spot, though. New Jack. oh I would like to put New Jack or Raven or Tommy Dreamer. Raven, yeah. Tommy yeah tommy yeah time and Dreamer is leader of the Glock Room.
00:32:16
Speaker
Sabu Taz, Raven Dreamer would be my Mount Rushmore. oh Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, Taz, I got into big into ECW. I used to buy tapes on rvideo.com back in the day and bought a bunch of Taz tapes and stuff like that.
00:32:31
Speaker
Yeah. I love Taz. Yeah, ecw great, great time in wrestling. Everybody tries to repeat it, but it just it's it's just such a bubble of time that you can't really do that anymore.

Fantastic Four Movie Evolution

00:32:46
Speaker
Bad thoughts. I want to talk about this show. This was whacked out beyond whacked. The first five, if you can get through the first five minutes of the show, you can get through the whole series.
00:32:59
Speaker
um He ends up shitting himself, and it's very graphic. Oh, God. I like Tom Segura, too. i I suggest you watch it, because it there is some crazy, this reminded me a lot of, like, Chappelle's show meets Twilight Zone meets just fucked up weird shit.
00:33:16
Speaker
Um, all from Tom Segura. I don't know who if he had writing partners for this, but he plays all the characters. Um, interesting. It's, it's a great show. There's one episode where I'll talk about it you can actually see it in the poster there.
00:33:27
Speaker
He's in a meeting. He's an it guy and he's working in VR and he ends up having like, he's tough. He's talking about how he's fixing the internet for this company and they're having a board meeting. And, um, Robert Eiler, who played, um, Anthony Soprano, little, little Anthony,
00:33:45
Speaker
And the Sopranos um stars in the first acting role since the Sopranos hadn't acted since. Um, And Tom Segura is doing he's playing this character who's doing VR to fix the IT.
00:33:58
Speaker
But the VI goggles, he's actually having, like it looks like he's having sex in the air. it's It's a crazy scene. I don't want to get into too much, but the whole show is great. and And I believe it's picked up for a season two. I'm not really sure. But he produced it all, showed it to Netflix, and they said, we'll give you a little bit more money to polish this up and finish it. And that's exactly what they did.
00:34:17
Speaker
Yeah, he already had a deal with Netflix anyways, right, with his comedy. Yeah, he did. With stand-up, yeah. um So that was great. Another movie, Havoc. ah This is on Netflix.
00:34:28
Speaker
Yes, Netflix. yep Tom Hardy, Timothy Oliphant, Forrest Whitaker. I'm only about three quarters of the way through. ah Directed by Gareth Evans. ah Very good.
00:34:39
Speaker
Very good movie. um I would say probably like... I don't even want rate it because not done with it yet. But you should watch it. It's on Netflix. Free if you want to watch it. But... um So this week, we we're kind of going back and forth between Superman and the the year of Superman and and the and the road to the Fantastic Four.
00:34:58
Speaker
yeah Last time we left you off with the Robert Corman, Roger Corman, Fantastic Four. Trash. Trash. Very much trash. um So I want to get into the 2005 Fantastic Four that came out.
00:35:13
Speaker
Which luckily I just watched like randomly two weeks ago. Didn't know what we were doing this tonight. Yeah, yeah, so but we'll talk we'll talk about it. Fresh in my head. Um, this has been in development since the mid-90s after the Roger Corman debacle.
00:35:25
Speaker
Um, 20th Century Fox purchased the negatives of Corman's film and buried it, burned it, saying this is not coming out. Um, And they also had a planned Silver Surfer solo movie that was going to happen. So much shit was was going on around this Fantastic Four for this 10 year period before this movie came out.
00:35:42
Speaker
um Through all the developmental hell, the movie finally came out in 2005. Directed by Tim Story, but he was the last choice for this movie. There were so many directors beforehand. um Christopher, cris not Christopher, Chris Columbus was originally attached 1998. Peyton Reed ah payton a reed was originally attached... A young pain reader. in 2001.
00:36:05
Speaker
um His vision was deemed too far out there at the time. He ended up using those ideas, recycling them into Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania. Look where that got him decades later. um And the other crazy part of this is Sean Astin, right after Lord of the Rings, was actually going to be a director of this movie, and they actually had him signed on at one point.
00:36:25
Speaker
Um... But the story kept changing. The script kept going back and forth. After seeing The Incredibles, Tim's story changed it completely and said, way we need to change it we don't want to be like The Incredibles. Right. We want to differentiate it from it. So that's where it became what it was.
00:36:40
Speaker
um They ended up casting Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm the Thing. Ian Gifford. I don't know how to say his name. Ian Gifford. I don't know. Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic.
00:36:53
Speaker
um Jessica Alba just came off of... She had a show. I can't remember what it was called in the night on late 90s, early 2000s. Just came out of that. She played Sue Storm. Um, Invisible Woman.
00:37:05
Speaker
And Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, Human Torch. Just came off of Not Another Team movie. Been a whole bunch of other stuff before that. Love that movie. Yep. Um, Carrie Washington as Alicia Masters. She's the blind girl who falls in love with Ben Grimm.
00:37:18
Speaker
Um, and Julian McMahon as Dr. Victor Von Doom. The only thing he was in prior to this was Nip Tuck on FX. Um, Robert Downey Jr.,
00:37:28
Speaker
was the original idea for Victor Von Doom. This was, remember, early 2000s. Christina Aguilera was Sean Ashton's choice to play su Storm when he was going to be director. That all changed when kid Story took took ah took flight of this. but um Pros and cons of this movie. Pros.
00:37:46
Speaker
Lots of... lots Now, I'm putting an asterisk here. Practical effects. but um Some of them were great. We'll get into The Thing in a minute. The Thing make-up was little weird, all practical, no CGI.
00:38:02
Speaker
They actually put the rock prosthetics on him. Um, yeah and his story arc though, in, in the movie was the best thing and about the movie. Um, very comic book accurate. His love, his love story with Alicia was kind of the Caesar put into this movie.
00:38:17
Speaker
Um, and he was given the most screen time of anybody at any of the original fantastic four members. Um, And also their celebrity portrayal. Fantastic Four started out as celebrities.
00:38:30
Speaker
Everybody knew their identities. Everybody knew who they were, their powers, everything. There was no secrets with the with the national public, the world public. Everybody knew who they were. um At the time, where everybody, Spider-Man, everybody had a secret identity.
00:38:42
Speaker
They didn't. um The cons of this movie, lots of cons. um I don't remember how bad this was. Because I loved Because it wasn't much. You've to remember, when this came out in 2005, the infancy... After Spider-Man 3?
00:38:55
Speaker
Or was this before Spider-Man 3? No. Spider-Man 2. X-Men 2. That's all we had. That's as far as Blade 2, maybe. And that's it. that We didn't have anything further than that. So we're at the infancy. Batman, of course. Batman. We were at the infancy of Marvel.
00:39:09
Speaker
um But the cons of this, you look you're going as far as the the woke crowd now. Johnny's... cockiness and womanizing ways were turned up a notch yeah that won't happen in this new movie um the character development in this movie was completely missing uh besides the thing but besides the thing the other three members even dr duke dr doom there was no there was no development whatsoever and especially the dr dr doom was a travesty because there's a great character in the comic books
00:39:43
Speaker
And they still have not hit it in the movies. um For the budget and compared to other comic book movies at the time, the CGI looked weak and B-movie at times. I was surprised by that because I did not remember.
00:39:56
Speaker
um Like I mentioned, it so early I don't remember that stuff. But the humor was forced, ah mixed with a lot of bad acting. Yep. Lots of weird stuff which with Johnny Storm.
00:40:08
Speaker
Being a womanizer. Yeah. Yeah, biggest problem was the Doctor Doom portrayal for me. um we His motive was weak. Latveria was mentioned a couple times. It was not a huge part of his background.
00:40:20
Speaker
um He was kind of working at a high-rise in New York City somewhere, and that's where the movie started. did not start in Latveria. Latveria, whatever you want to say. um But the the villain of this movie was Vanity.
00:40:33
Speaker
You already know Doctor Doom, the vanity, that's why he wears a mask he's scarred underneath. um That's a big part of the movie. And Ben, Ben being this big monstrous figure, the vanity of that and not liking what other people are thinking about him was always this's always kind of the comic book villain, but it also became the movie villain too, more than anything else.
00:40:53
Speaker
um Stan Lee made a cameo in this movie as a mailman. It's a fun cameo. Named Willie the very first time he played an actual character that he created in the comic books. Willie was a mailman in the Baxter building in the comic books.
00:41:09
Speaker
um The reason why this movie was so successful, I mean, it made $333 million dollars on almost a $100 million dollar box budget. So, did pretty well. Ended up making a sequel. We'll talk about that next month, but...
00:41:22
Speaker
um We do see a pre-credits scene. At the end of the movie, Victor Von Doom is defeated. um mean guess it has this weird power where his skin is turned underneath his skin is turning into metal. um He's becoming like a Magneto-like character, which is a strange choice.
00:41:36
Speaker
I guess it's based off of the um ah the Marvel line. ultimate line i'm not sure um But he survived. And he's on a boat to the left area.
00:41:47
Speaker
But I don't think they really follow up that in the sequel too. The sequel is better than this. But it's it's worse than this too in one big way. Which we're going to get into. Which we already know they've they've pivoted on the cloud monster.
00:42:01
Speaker
But we'll talk about that next month.

Superman Movie Trailer Review

00:42:03
Speaker
When we get into the Rise of the Silver Surfer. um Now, even though we skipped a year Superman. Yes.
00:42:13
Speaker
Now it's time for news.
00:42:22
Speaker
And it's not a new sound, trailer roundup.
00:42:26
Speaker
And we got the trailer of the year today or yesterday. Depending on what percentage or what fan base you're, you if you're a DC fan. where Wherever you line up on Twitter, depending on where you line.
00:42:40
Speaker
Yes. So Monday morning, Sunday night, this started showing up in Times Square. yeah we already knew the trailer probably going this week. New trailer on Wednesday. So we're oh, shit. Oh, shit. It's happening. Stay calm, everybody.
00:42:54
Speaker
Monday morning, James Gunn standing in front of this billboard in Times Square, pretty much proving like, yep, we're getting the trailer. This is this yeah real. This is happening. Stay calm, everybody. And then we started getting some more promotional stuff happening. Talk about this first.
00:43:09
Speaker
Milk Bone doing a promotion with the movie. Genius. Genius marketing. Crypto is a huge part of the movie, so of course needed to happen. um We see Mr. Terrific and Crypto through the cities of city metropolis playing around with Milk Bone.
00:43:24
Speaker
We also see a shot, and I don't think it was in the trailer, of Krypto laying on Superman and his bed in Smallville. That's at the very end of the trailer after you see the Superman logo. Okay. It almost goes, you have a dog? And then it pans like this shot from like his head down. Okay, I couldn't remember. I couldn't remember, yeah. But yeah, so they're going to be a huge sponsor.
00:43:43
Speaker
When you get some first glimpse of what the trailer is going to look like, we see some quick glimpses of the trailer, including this monster who is in the middle there. Hammer of Borania. Yeah, who it is.
00:43:54
Speaker
Fighting Superman. the only The only reason we know that name is because it's on a newspaper clipping from from the Daily Planet. yeah But um then the next day, get the epic poster.
00:44:07
Speaker
The awesome, awesome poster. Which is exciting. Looks good. Kind of follow up to the teaser poster. We get a close up picture of Superman. But um the whole the whole slogan of this movie is look up.
00:44:20
Speaker
And everybody's been saying it. All the actors have been saying it. um And let's talk about it talk about it scene by scene. Talk about the big one first. I have a problem with it. I've already told you.
00:44:33
Speaker
But I'm not going to judge it until the movie comes out. So your problem is that he's angry at Lois? Yeah. He's just angry in general. and i know that he I know they're probably in a relationship at that this time, cause obviously she knows who he is.
00:44:47
Speaker
Yep. There's a lot of anger for Superman, who's supposed to be not this angry. See, I liked it. it For me, it was like... Because he's being interviewed as Superman, so he can't act like... Like, he can't act like...
00:45:03
Speaker
He loves Lois. Like, he can't act like that. Right, but... He's getting mad at at the negativity, not necessarily, like, the fact that he's just trying to save people, and there's rules to that. And it's, I mean, they did this in Smallville, and it was great in Smallville, too, when they made up the rules about saving people, and he took in that kid in season six, I want to say.
00:45:23
Speaker
He had a big argument with his mother It's been long. been so I've seen Smallville. So I had no issue with this at all. Like I said, I want to i wanna to see it playlet play out because I have a feeling their relationship is going to be a big, huge part of this movie. yeah um Especially after this scene was included in the trailer. I know that for sure now, for certain. but Well, this is the scene they auditioned with.
00:45:43
Speaker
so It's probably going to be like a five to eight minute scene in the movie too. so Right, that's what I'm saying. So I want to see the full picture before I judge it. Because the rest of the trailer is fucking fantastic.
00:45:54
Speaker
um Let's get into it. um Fighting this kaiju monster. looks way better than the teaser. Yep, looks way better. He goes in a up close shot at him, punching him in the face and knocking him out.
00:46:05
Speaker
My favorite shot of the whole entire trailer is the one on the right there, but the kaiju is getting a fireball. Everybody flies off the front, whatever he says. Yep, he flies up in the sky. Looks awesome, sounds awesome.
00:46:16
Speaker
The aura of what we hoped he would look at like as Superman was was definitely portrayed in this scene. Yeah. Him getting knocked into some gravel. We see, what's her name that works at the Daily Planet taking a selfie with the... No, that's that's not Cat Grant. That's Lex Luthor's girlfriend. Was that Tess Mocker? That's Tess Mocker. Okay. and Which is why everyone's like freaking out about a quote-unquote Daily Planet worker taking selfies. I'm like, well, one, technically that probably would be a Daily Planet worker doing that this day and age with the way the TikTok influencers are.
00:46:45
Speaker
And two, that's actually Tess Mocker whose boyfriend is probably the reason for the destruction. Yeah. You know? Okay. Yeah. That's my guess. We see that there's that the Morovia guy is the one that has some sort of fire coming out of him. Right. Attacking that building in the background. so Correct. um Next set of pictures, Mr. Terrific.
00:47:05
Speaker
um Great scene with with Green Lantern. We'll get into the controversy in that in a minute. Hawkgirl throwing what looks to be Lex Luthor out of a high-rise building. yeah um And we see the group the team.
00:47:18
Speaker
Let's get into that now. um The name of this team was revealed in Toys. well for yeah Hold on. Strike that reverse it. Go back to the Green Lantern thing first before I skip this picture. Yes.
00:47:30
Speaker
People complaining that the ring is not connected to the power. That doesn't always work that way. Right. Number one, it doesn't look like that. Plus, you can kind of tell from this one quick one-second shot that maybe it could be still connected.
00:47:46
Speaker
You're not really sure. You can't judge it by that. But, of course, it's the internet and Twitter, so you can judge it. yeah But this team is called the Justice Gang. JG written on their... don't think you can see it here, but JG written on their on their emblems on the front of their jackets. Yeah.
00:48:04
Speaker
um The Justice Gang, um they're actually going to have a whole entire team led by Superman in an action figure set. um Superman and the Justice teamt a justice Gang. Got a new figure of Ultraman 2. They actually name it DC's Ultraman because there is another Japanese Ultraman. And he's purple, he's not black.
00:48:25
Speaker
The other figure I want to talk about, which is getting a lot of controversy, is this one. Because there's a character, number one, Lex Luthor is wearing some sort of a super suit, which we kind of figured was going to happen in this movie. Well, it doesn't mean not everything has to be in the movie, because when they were doing BDS, they also stole Lex Luthor with a giant suit also that never was in the movie. but yeah but But we see two things. We see Crypto in a, looks like a prison, some sort of a prison container. And we see another container with this green alien.
00:48:58
Speaker
Who is named, what is his name? Little Joey? it's what they named him on the It's fucking Joseph Mason. It's not the the that guy's son. It's Joseph Mason, the son of Metamorpho.
00:49:10
Speaker
Oh, okay. I was a short time ago. guess is Metamorpho is being used by Lex and he has the son to use as leverage, is my theory. Or the son's not the movie, they just put him in this because this is clearly a kid's toy set.
00:49:24
Speaker
It is, yeah. It comes with metamorpho and Mr. Terrific action figure as well, this toy set. but ah luther they call it in It's labeled Luther Corp Lab. so yeah um Getting into that, Mr. Terrific looks like he's coming out of... Is that a spaceship or a portal? It looks like a portal. and yeah iing a portal yeah um With Lois.
00:49:45
Speaker
um We also see Will Reeves, son of Christopher Reeves, as a news reporter. um Next set of clips, we see the very first picture of Ma Kent. um saying that he's going to go dust off his boots so she he can go fight.
00:49:57
Speaker
Great scene. Looks like he's going to crush some skulls. And then we get a glimpse of Lex Luthor. bunch of glimpses in the trailer, but I wanted to pick them. My favorite one in the trailer is the one on the bottom right, sipping a coffee mug, staring right in Superman's eyes like, fuck you, motherfucker. um yeah And then they infiltrate, him and the engineer infiltrate the Fortress of Solitude.
00:50:20
Speaker
um And she's attacking with her super-powered ring-looking blade things. She's attacking all the Superman robots, and Lexuthor's just walking in nonchalantly behind her as robot parts are flying in front Talk about Aura.
00:50:33
Speaker
That Lex has aura. Yep. So he sneaks in there, and of course Crypto is there and starts fighting back and beats the snot out of her, and I have a feeling that's why he's captured it. That correct. It looks like in this picture, too, her skin's peeling off to kind of reveal the traditional engineer look from the comics.
00:50:51
Speaker
You're right. yeah i didn't notice that. There's like little black or something underneath, yeah. Yeah, I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. you're You're absolutely correct about that. And then we get a glimpse of Rick Flag Sr. arresting Superman, which we knew about from the leaks. only issue with this is, outside of him being used in creature commandos and having what he needs to be in Peacemaker, I wish this was General Lane instead.
00:51:15
Speaker
That would have been fantastic point. I agree with you completely. um It is what it is. He's being arrested. We've seen these clips. it and This was leaked last year when they were filming. We saw this.
00:51:26
Speaker
um And the final shots of this of this trailer, this one on the far left, I did not see until today. um But a very cool scene of the engineer's weapons attacking Superman on on the bit on the football field. It looks like in the trailer that one of the blades like cuts his hair a little bit.
00:51:46
Speaker
That's how close it gets if you look at the trailer. I've watched the trailer too much also. Yeah, you recommended to me watching it on HBO Max too. It looks better. It looks beautiful on HBO Max. I gotta watch it on there. It looks great HBO Max. Better than YouTube.
00:51:58
Speaker
Yeah. um And the other scene is Metamorpho in a cell doing some Metamorpho things and also has his kryptonite hand. Having Metamorpho create kryptonite is infinitely better than finding it in the middle of the Indian Ocean unexplored.
00:52:14
Speaker
i well I love this use of Metabolpho because when they announced he was in the movie, I was like, what are they going to use him for? And then it's like, oh yeah, you can create elements because he's the element man. So Lex is making him create Kryptonite, which is, I think, I love that move if that's how it actually plays out.
00:52:30
Speaker
You can see it in his hand there in the trailer. um Excited? Beyond excited for this movie. Everybody is. and Unless you talk to a certain fan base on Twitter. Everybody is excited for this movie. um um If you're a comic book fan, how can you not be?
00:52:44
Speaker
um But yeah. yep ah Excited. We'll see where this plays. Also, they released some, I i don't know, Entertainment Weekly. summer Some summer preview pictures, some new ones of Lex Luthor Superman. I like that one in the far right there.
00:52:57
Speaker
But yeah. um nobody too o got a new trailer for that oh man got some great trailers even with superheroes other i love first one he's going on a family vacation and the best part of this trailer is they play the vacation song from the vacation movie in it um and they kind of did a slow down muted version of it was awesome um But yeah, he's going on vacation with his family to

Upcoming Movie Releases

00:53:23
Speaker
an amusement park and just goes ballistic like nobody won on all these people. um I think one of them is trying to harass his daughter. He just goes nuts. Great looking movie.
00:53:32
Speaker
Got a new trailer for Ballerina. i Got some new posters as well. Comes out in a couple weeks in the movies, but June 6th. But they yeah, they just tickets which just went on sale, so they released the final trailer. Looked really good.
00:53:45
Speaker
And of course, Keanu's back. this This is a prequel set years before the last one, even though there is going to be a John Wick 5. um The other one, Marvel decided, actually Sony Marvel, decided to release Spider-Noir, a trailer for their Amazon show. It's a spinoff to Beyond the Spider-Verse, or whatever those Spider-Verse movies are.
00:54:07
Speaker
um This Nicolas Cage reprising repricing that role. umm coming in playing Spider-Man Noir. um The rumors I've heard is this show is going to be black and white mainly.
00:54:19
Speaker
Awesome. But there is going to be a color option to watch on Amazon Prime. Oh, interesting. I'm watching it in black and white. Got some clicks. Very noir look. Looks just like Sin City. Looks and like anything you've seen in current noir.
00:54:34
Speaker
um And the Spider-Man, I just like the way that Spider-Man looks. Looks just like the comic book. Looks like the the Spider-Verse movies. So it looks awesome. um And Marvel, not to step on the feet of of DC, but they released the Iron Arch trailer. It looked great.
00:54:48
Speaker
Ryan Coogler producing this. ah Looks like something Ryan Coogler would have be attached to. um But yeah, it looked good. It comes out on June 24th. This is the one with Mephisto in it, right?
00:55:01
Speaker
supposedly Mephisto plays a part. um ah yeah please part the red He plays a part in the Red Hood's origin, and redhood' Red Hood is the villain of this, played by the guy in Hamilton. I can't remember his name. talk him ahead.
00:55:12
Speaker
um Anthony Ramos, I think. but yeah um So yeah, we had that. We got a new preview trailer for Wicked. two things i want to talk about um again we got the final poster or the first poster of wicked for good comes out in november and they also announced that two things june 4th wicked the first part is coming out in theaters again one night only but you're going to want to go if you want to see the very first teaser trailer for wicked for good and if you're if you loved wicked like i did
00:55:46
Speaker
I'm tempted to go and see it because that's I think it's going to be exclusive to theaters at least for a couple weeks. Yeah. And and then a lot of people are excited for that. It's going be huge numbers when it comes out the in the theaters in November. so um The other thing is there's going to be a special event in November, a live event filmed through I can't remember where they're doing It's somewhere in l L.A. But um They're going to be performing all a lot of the songs from the first Wicked, ah bringing in cast members to sing them. They're to doing it live. They did this for Encanto. They did this few other ones, too, back back a few years ago. They're doing it for Wicked, bringing in ga cast. They're also going to be introducing some new songs from the new movie as well.
00:56:24
Speaker
So it's going be kind of like a preview for the new movie on on on network television. Yep. Santhi Erivo, Ariana Grande are going to be the the pretty much the stars it, and they're gonna bring on special guest stars. Yep.
00:56:35
Speaker
Very excited for Wicked. And that's it for trailers. Some great trailers this week. Yeah. It was a good week. Yeah, let's get into the rest of the news. Box office last weekend. um Thunderbolts won again for $33 million.
00:56:48
Speaker
Sinners $21 million. That's pretty good for a month and in the box office. Yeah. um And Minecraft movie made $7.9 million. ah Minecraft movie crossed $900 million dollars globally. I think it's at 9-11 as of today. Wow.
00:57:03
Speaker
Crazy, crazy. On a $150 million dollar budget. Crazy. But everybody played that game 10 years ago. I'm not surprised that they brought the games. It's a huge IP. um I've heard the movie is absolute garbage. Yeah, that's all I've heard too. I mean, and yeah. um I mean...
00:57:20
Speaker
Yeah, I've heard it's absolute garbage. um But yeah, it's also a smart move putting the Superman sneak peek in front of that for a week. Yep. Because pre-sales almost doubled. um Let's talk about it.

P. Diddy Trial Revelations

00:57:34
Speaker
Bad boy. Mr. Tootsie Roll. Mr. Tootsie Roll himself. The trial of P. Diddy started this week. Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Doo-Wa Diddy Comb started this week.
00:57:50
Speaker
The revelations coming out of this trial are astounding. Yeah. First one. Diddy complained about lack of baby oil for sex. Male dancer testifies.
00:58:04
Speaker
We'll get into that in a minute. But Cassie paid a male dancer to have sex with her while Diddy watched and Diddy told them that they didn't have enough baby oil on their bodies. mom She also testified that not only she testified all these freak off parties, it was just her and him having sex all the time, gave her UTIs, sores on her tongue, crazy, crazy stories on her tongue.
00:58:30
Speaker
saying that the longest lasted four days, the longest freak-off party with him and strippers and everybody, whoever else was involved. But the biggest, besides the Tootsie Roll story, um he got allegations this week that he had had raped somebody and and they said his dick was the size of a Tootsie Roll.
00:58:48
Speaker
um Besides that, you already have a crazy story already. Besides that,
00:58:54
Speaker
Sean Combs allegedly forced an escort to urinate in Cassie's mouth as she choked. And that wasn't even the worst part of it. I forgot to mention the semen and rubbing it on his nipples and from the male stripper. I forgot to mention that part.
00:59:10
Speaker
But the urine part, I remembered. um yeah This is only five days into this trial. And there's some awful, awful awful revelations. I'm not sure if he ever sees the light of day.
00:59:24
Speaker
I'm not sure federally the reason for this. mean We kind of had this conversation offline. It's over state lines. State lines. Yeah, that's bringing escorts. and Yeah, because sex trafficking is weird.
00:59:37
Speaker
Um, as far as, and even if, they if it even if there's a sense, well, the whole entire trial is weird, but the the rules for, for escorts going from state to state is weird. And I think that's what they got along. And a lot of drugs involved. And if he, if he was drugging Cassie, which it seems like she was on a lot of drugs at the time, if he was supplying that to kind of numb her, numb her, then yeah, that's a problem too.
01:00:00
Speaker
Um, but yeah, as far as him being in prison, I'm not sure how long he could be in prison for, it but it could be a while. could be a while. um Kevin Costner's Horizon. Do you remember that movie? How there's to be like five parts and there's only one that released. and they they Yeah, they filmed like the first two and they were about to start filming the third.
01:00:20
Speaker
Right. yeah He had this whole epic planned out and then it failed. um As far as I know... i want as far as I know, he wasted a lot of his own money. He put his own money into it leveraged some other money and the banks want their money back.
01:00:35
Speaker
And he's not paid them because it money made they made no money. So they actually, I think they ended up suing whoever released the movie. I think they sued him as well. ah what The bank, whoever whoever financed the movie is suing him for this.
01:00:47
Speaker
and What's Horizon Worth It is my question to Kevin Costner.

Kevin Costner's Legal Troubles

01:00:53
Speaker
Because it could this could be years of legal battles trying to... It could make him financially just gone because of because of this one movie. Isn't this movie the whole reason why he also left Yellowstone prematurely? yeah His biggest project in the last 20 years, Yellowstone. The reason why he left it was because... For his biggest failure, and he had a lot of failures between Waterworld and the paper, whatever hell that was called. still love Waterworld.
01:01:20
Speaker
What was that other one that he the big failure that happened? Postman. That was the biggest failure, and that's kind of on the same level where i think he financed a lot of that himself. but um yeah Yeah, we'll talk about that when I learn more about it, when we find out more about it, but...
01:01:34
Speaker
And another weird, shocking, legal, weird thing, Warner Brothers decided to change their name of Max to HBO Max again. Going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. But now they're HBO Max. I've been calling it HBO Max even when they changed it. Because it's all HBO stuff.
01:01:52
Speaker
Why the fuck would you change it? And was always confused. like Why would you call it Max if there's a Cinemax? It doesn't make sense. So they're going back to their roots, going back to HBO. The brand that they made 30 years ago, 40 years ago, they're going back to that.
01:02:04
Speaker
Makes perfect sense. They should have done that. Should have kept it anyway. But, yeah, they're bringing it back. Coming back sometime this summer.

Universal Theme Parks Documentary

01:02:11
Speaker
I want to talk about this coming out July 24th. um It's Epic Ride, the story of Universal theme parks. Now this summer, Epic Universe, the third park in the Universal Studios Orlando, is opening.
01:02:23
Speaker
um So they're going to be doing this kind of in line with that, where they're going to be promoting this documentary, a three-part docuseries celebrating the history legacy of Universal destination experiences, including the theme parks,
01:02:35
Speaker
um Bringing in directors, producers, executives, A-list celebrities. um It's going to explore Universal's iconic film and theme park history as well as provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at their new park, Universal Epic Universe, which is... got a hole it's I think they're opening soon, and maybe this month, I can't remember. but Excited for that.
01:02:53
Speaker
I do like Universal Studios a little bit more than Disney as and as an adult now. I ah appreciate it. haven't been in 20 years, but Back to the Future ride was always my favorite.

Final Destination Marketing Campaigns

01:03:03
Speaker
Terminator ride, it was awesome. Jaws, back in the day. Awesome. Nickelodeon Studio. Where did go? 2017, maybe? 2018. Down in Florida. Cool Park.
01:03:10
Speaker
did i go twenty seventeen maybe twenty eighteen count and i down of florida cool part Yep. Yeah. I haven't been. I want to see the Harry Potter world. I know it's expanded a lot. i i wasn't able to see. I remember seeing the beginning of the construction when I was down there, but I haven't been able to see the full Hogwarts castle yet.
01:03:28
Speaker
Viral marketing for Final Destination Bloodlines, which comes out today. um has been great. They had this billboard up in l L.A. of somebody on a scaffolding putting the new poster up for Final Destination on a billboard, and somebody ends up getting killed and it's hanging off.
01:03:44
Speaker
The other thing that's great, if you've ever seen Final Destination, the second one, maybe the first one, I can't remember. The log truck. yeah jack There's log trucks going through big cities with a Final Destination poster behind the log truck of a log of logs hanging off of it.
01:04:00
Speaker
Great, great up promotion because everybody knows like if you're behind a log truck, oh yeah, i'm Final Destination. yeahp I remember that. Even people who haven't seen that movie, I feel like, know about it. yeah no yeah i I really wanted to see this yesterday, but I've been kind of sick, as you can tell. I've got a coffee every now and then yeah and just didn't get to it yesterday.
01:04:16
Speaker
I was going to try to do that and Thunderbolts, but I didn't get released from work until like 3, and I felt like trash, so I just stayed home. That's cool. um Got a new look at Darian Aronofsky's new movie Caught Stealing starring Matt Smith and Austin Butler. That's Matt Smith and the Mohawk there.
01:04:32
Speaker
um Film follows a former baseball player who gets caught in a criminal scheme when pet sitting his punk rock neighbor's cat. Of course, punk rock neighbor must be Matt Smith. But yeah, interesting movie. That's what I'd guess.
01:04:45
Speaker
Interesting movie. We'll have to wait and see on that. um I almost had this in Teach Rave Sports, but we'll talk about it now. Before ah Nicholas Cage as John Madden Christian Bale as Al Davis on the side of the upcoming film Madden currently filming right now going be talking about his Super Bowl winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders creating Madden NFL becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history David O. Russell directing it John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins Catherine Hahn as Virginia Madden so they're going on the comic they get a lot of kind comedic actors going in this movie too
01:05:19
Speaker
yeah um David O. Russell, what's his big film? What one are the big movies he's directed? Did he do...
01:05:27
Speaker
Did he do Vice? may ah I don't know, maybe. Because I feel like this movie will have a similar tone to Vice. you want I'm blanking on everything he's done. Hold on, I'll look it up.
01:05:40
Speaker
but what's mad in What's Madden's legacy? Is it going to be the commentating or is it going to be the game? What's going to be his biggest legacy? At this point, at this point I think so too. Coaching was his first one.
01:05:51
Speaker
Coaching, yeah.
01:05:53
Speaker
But yeah, the fashion... Yeah, he did. yeah David O. Russell did American Hustle, Three Kings, Silver Lining, Playbook, Joy. A great movie. Great movie. yeah Yeah. He's a good director. um Silver Linings is one of my favorites. I wasn't sure if he did Vice or not, but... American Hustle. I don't think he did.
01:06:11
Speaker
But yeah, American Hustle's great. Yep. I love Silver Linings Playbook. It's one of my favorite romantic comedies. um Yeah, so yeah, Nicolas Cage in a fat suit looking like ah yeah John Madden.
01:06:23
Speaker
yeah ah This is being shopped around cans as we speak. I don't have a picture here, but Rambo, original movie, John Rambo, going to be an origin. By the see-through director.
01:06:36
Speaker
They're aiming to shoot sometime later this year, but they're shopping it around to production companies now at Cannes, the Cannes Film Festival, which is happening, I believe, this week. But, yeah, I mean, origin story of John Rambo, probably him in the army, of course, is the first Rambo first blood of showing it back up in America. I don't know close it's going to get to the very first one.
01:06:57
Speaker
Right. But, yeah, probably maybe up until he leaves the army or something. don't know. Right. Yeah, we'll have to

Entertainment News Highlights

01:07:05
Speaker
wait and see on that. guess so First, and more pictures of Jurassic World, the new one, Dominion, I believe it's called.
01:07:11
Speaker
um That was the last one. some dinosaurs Yeah, whatever this one is, I don't know what it is. Glenn Powell, Hollywood's darling right now, coming out with a new show, movie, series, I'm not sure what the hell this is, on Hulu on September 30th, called Chad Powers.
01:07:25
Speaker
a um Other than him wearing prosthetics and wearing a wig, and as far as I heard... um He's kind of like a detective who ends up having to be disguised a lot. mean, Fletch.
01:07:41
Speaker
um yeah I don't know more i don't know more i don't know more about more than that. No trailer. It's just the first posters for it. When we get a trailer, we'll talk about it. Wanted to mention this briefly.
01:07:52
Speaker
South Park coming back in July, and we got a first glimpse of a character that had not been around in more than 20 years.
01:08:02
Speaker
na Number one, P. Diddy is in this, behind Kenny. But in the forefront is starving motherfucking Marvin. marvin Who has not been around since one of the early seasons of South Park. I want to say season one two. I was going to say the first season.
01:08:19
Speaker
Yeah. Has not been a part of South Park at all, so he's actually showing up in this. and They're being chased by P. Diddy in space with spaceship looking... Orbs.
01:08:31
Speaker
ah yeah I think I'm going to jump into South Park kind of blind after having not watched for a while. This looks like it might be a time to watch. but They're going to tackle P. Diddy, possibly Kanye. Maybe a time to watch.
01:08:43
Speaker
I want to mention this to you. The four seasons. Have you heard about this? Watched it? I know it's got a huge hype right now on Netflix. I have not. Based on an eighty s i want to say movie starring Alan Alda.
01:08:56
Speaker
actually had a part in this producing it. I'm hearing great things about it. I'm hearing great things about Colin Domingo's character. um He's good anyways. Will Forte's character. Right. I'm hearing great things. It's it's a kind of a comedy drama. They've already released one season?
01:09:10
Speaker
One season is on Netflix currently. Eight episodes, I believe. um But yeah, here I'm hearing good things about it. I'm hearing it could be a little bit depressing if you've ever been in a relationship and it... And it sours. I heard there's a lot of depressing stuff about that too.
01:09:23
Speaker
But yeah, may I may watch that. It's on Netflix currently. Wanted to bring that up. Gears of War found a director in David Leach. Leach? Leach? don't know how say his name. But he was the director of...
01:09:35
Speaker
Deadpool 2, and also the director of Fall Guy. And he was mastermind behind all the stunt work for John Wick, Bullet Train, Deadpool, and Fall Guy, all of that. he was all in charge of all that. Did he yeah direct Bullet Train?
01:09:51
Speaker
I believe he directed that and John Wick. So this is Brad Pitt's stunt double from Fight Club. Yes, you're right. yep okay yeahp okay yeah So he's going to be doing the Gears of War movie. Of all movies. ah I wasn't into the games.
01:10:03
Speaker
I think I chart started playing It was an Xbox exclusive. yeah Second one's the best, I think. Okay. um but Buffy the Vampire Slayer wasn't into the show that much, but I know they're doing a reboot. They ended up casting a new Slayer, Ryan Kiera Armstrong. He's going to playing alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar in this pilot. Who we just saw on that Star Wars show on Disney.
01:10:26
Speaker
Yeah, she was just in Star Wars, and I can't remember her name in the show or what she did, but she was one of the young kids and in and Skeleton Crew. Yeah. um A new movie, Here Comes the Flood.
01:10:38
Speaker
Simon Kinberg penned. um Fernando Murialis is going to direct, coming out on Netflix, starring Denzel Washington. Robert Pattinson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones, who was just in Twisters last year.
01:10:52
Speaker
um Interesting. Interesting casting. I know Denzel's on the end. He's talking about he's going to retiring soon. Yeah, he only wants to do like, three more movies, and one of them's going to be Black Panther 3, so. Yep, yep. Lots of rumors of him being in X-Men 2, playing Magneto.
01:11:07
Speaker
Which doubt because... That's been rumors for years, yeah. I doubt that just because based on him... Based on him, yeah, saying he only wants to do, like, three or four more projects. I mean, he's already seven, right? Yeah, that's a 10-year commitment, so... the 10 year commitment doing that till his eighties. We'll tell that to Ann McKellen, but, um, he's still doing it, but he didn't sign up for that either. I'd say, yeah, right.
01:11:26
Speaker
Asked back. Yeah. Um, two new movies going talk about. One is called deeper, um, starring Anna D. Armis and Tom Cruise, um, directed by Doug Lehman, uh, follows an astronaut who encounters a terrifying force,
01:11:42
Speaker
as they deep dive into a never-explored trench in the ocean. Um... Not sure about that, but, uh... Sure. Tom Cruise is great. Um, the other one is an adaptation of a video game called Split Fiction.
01:11:56
Speaker
Um, it's going to be directed by John Chu, and it's going to bring in two female leads. One of them going Cindy Sweeney. Not sure what the other one is. Written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese from Deadpool dipo Wolverine, Zombieland, um, Joe Shmojo. They wrote it and direct a whole bunch of shit in the last 20 years, but, um...
01:12:12
Speaker
Yeah, we'll have to wait and keep an eye on those two movies. Those were announced today. um Also announced today, joining the cast of Hunger Games' ah Sunrise on the Reaping,
01:12:23
Speaker
um The last Hunger Games prequel that came out was the first Hunger Games. I believe this is like the 10th or middle one. I can't remember. But Ralph Fiennes joining the cast as President Snow, who was played by Sutherland. Not Keith or Sutherland. His father, I can't remember. Donald Sutherland.
01:12:41
Speaker
Donald? Okay. Yep. um Played by him in the original Hunger Games movie. So he's playing a younger version of him, Ralph Fiennes. So he's playing two iconic characters in two iconic franchises, Voldemort and now President Snow.
01:12:54
Speaker
um This cast is kind of crazy. Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensby, who was played by um ah Philip Seymour Hoffman in the original run. um Maya Hawke, who is in Stranger Things, she's playing Wyrus, who is another character from The Hunger Games.
01:13:11
Speaker
um she's this She's the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. um Lily Taylor is playing Mags. who She was in a whole bunch of things. We've been talking about her recently. McKenna Grace was in the new Ghostbusters movies in this as well. so bringing a lot of actors Oh, and Bed Wang. He was cast this week too. He is the new Karate Kid in the new movie too. oh yeah so yeah yeah so they've they've They've been bringing a lot of ah the new new kid actors. a lot of old one but Jesse Plemons, we both love him. He's great. We'll have to wait and see on that in those movies.
01:13:42
Speaker
You got a new poster for The Roses. Don't know what this is about. Saw poster. Wanted to bring it up. Comes out on August 29th, starring um Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch. ah Fox Searchlight, directors of Meet the pack Parents and Poor Things. So, ah yeah, this marriage ain't big enough for the both of them is what it's the tagline is.
01:14:01
Speaker
Yeah, we'll wait and see on that. Christopher Nolan's Odyssey is going first blockbuster shot fully on IMAX. I thought there had already been a movie shot on IMAX, but i guess not.
01:14:12
Speaker
Nope. I guess it's going to be the first one. Excited for that. um Officially announced in a video online this week, this week Mel Gibson's Resurrection of Christ.
01:14:23
Speaker
The official title... official title picture, title, card, whatever you want to call it. yeah so that's gonna be I thought he was cancelled. What happened to that? He was cancelled until the president hired him to be the ambassador of Hollywood.
01:14:37
Speaker
And that is a true statement. oh They released a picture of the Addams Family, the new one, promoting the new season coming out sometime this year.
01:14:48
Speaker
um Excited for that. Not excited for this. The Game of Thrones Night of the Seven Kingdoms was supposed come out, I believe, this couple months. Yeah. It's now been shifted to early 2026. They shifted the window completely.
01:15:04
Speaker
um So, yeah. I think it was actually supposed to come out in the fall, but they changed it. We'll have to wait see. um The paper. It's official. Coming out September on Peacock.
01:15:16
Speaker
Follow up to The Office from the University Office. And the only reason we know that is because in the far, far corner, we see Oscar from The Office sitting in this. So he's working here, wherever it is, the paper company.
01:15:27
Speaker
But yeah, we'll have to wait and see. Newspaper company, I guess. Got a new poster for the bear. New date coming out. All episodes streaming on on June 25th.
01:15:38
Speaker
Week before Superman. A couple weeks before Superman. all All episodes airing all at once on Hulu. like know Coming out on, I believe, two-episode premiere on August 12th.
01:15:50
Speaker
Got a new poster and a new date for Alien Earth. ah Got some new pictures as well. it Comes out on Hulu. It'll be on FX Hulu the same night. Cannot wait for that. Excited to see where they do with the Alien Universe on television. Yeah.
01:16:05
Speaker
yeah follows Series follows Wendy. um And a team of soldiers who, after a deep space vessel crashes on Earth, uncover a terrifying threat to the planet. Probably being more aliens.
01:16:18
Speaker
So yeah, wait a second on that. um Amazon Prime Video has ordered a drama a series Delphi. which is set in the gym features in the Creed film franchise with Michael B. Jordan.
01:16:31
Speaker
um Nothing besides that we don't know. Michael B. I think is a producer on it. I think that's all we really know about it. yeah um My favorite news of the week, Michael J. Fox is joining the cast of Shrinking for season three as a guest role.
01:16:46
Speaker
um If you've seen the series, you know that Harrison Ford in the show is portraying a character who has Parkinson's, early stages of Parkinson's, This is total makes total sense. then Him and Michael J. Fox and Harrison Ford teaming up to have scenes together is going to be something I'm looking forward to for the next year. yep i very, very excited for this.
01:17:08
Speaker
um And ahead of the season two premiere... Amazon has renewed Fallout for a third season. And then the new season doesn't come out until December. So that's awesome.
01:17:19
Speaker
um I love Fallout Season 1. They must be really high on Season 2 if they are already greenlit it before it's even come out six months before. So excited for that. um Another movie news. This is great news too this week.
01:17:31
Speaker
Great casting choices. June Law and Andrew Garfield are going to be um set to executive produce and play Las Vegas showmen, magicians Siegfried and Roy.
01:17:43
Speaker
um Talking about their whole entire history. going to limited series on Apple TV. um And it's beginning in the fall. Matt Shackman is set to direct the pilot. um And yeah, it's going to awesome. and I have a side-by-side picture of the two of them.
01:17:56
Speaker
with Siegfried and Roy and I think that casting is probably the best pack best casting we've had for a while um and Jude Law looks just like one of them and i think I think Andrew Garfield looks like the other one I don't remember which one got attacked by the lion Siegfried or Roy but that's gonna be a part of it as well so yeah that's cool um In a leak this week for the sequel of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 2, as it was called, um the leak came out from NBCUniversal that it's going to be called Super Mario Worlds.
01:18:30
Speaker
um We know that the first one left off with the Yoshi eggs were no surprise here. um And I did like the first one quite a bit, so I cannot wait to see where this goes, and if they're going to to Dinosaur Land.
01:18:41
Speaker
If the map is even even looks like the original game, Mario World, I'd be excited for that. um Bringing in all those characters from that, it'd be exciting. So yeah, I cannot wait. yeah um The Rise of Hydra game.
01:18:58
Speaker
It's come this year. It's been delayed until early 2026. A lot of games getting delayed. The big one is being game of Grand Theft Auto. GTA. Yep. And we'll get to the end of the show. Let's get into some swag.
01:19:10
Speaker
Swag. Stuff we all get. Come on, son. You know that's right. First we're going to talk about is a Mondo figure of X-Men 97 for Nightcrawler.
01:19:22
Speaker
Looks really, really cool. Lots of cool accessories. Lots of cool faces. Lots of cool weapons. Lots of cool smoke and piff sound effects. Visual.
01:19:33
Speaker
Whatever you want to say. Looks cool. um Brought this up for you. Art the Clown. um Funko Pop coming out. I'm not sure when this comes out. <unk> Also got some Saw figures of Billy the Puppet, Jigsaw, with the pig mask and Jigsaw with the robe.
01:19:51
Speaker
Looks cool. um got crust Got the Krusty Burger from Simpsons becoming a Lego set. um
01:20:01
Speaker
Are you there? Are you... I think I may have lost Kevin. Oh, I'm back. I really had to blow my nose and i didn't have a tissue on me. It was very bad. Sorry about that. Krusty Burger coming back. Coming for a leg Lego set. lego Simpsons coming back for Lego.
01:20:20
Speaker
ah Hot Toys coming out with this really cool looking Darth Vader deluxe version figure from Revenge of the Sith. That's when he turns from Anakin to Darth Vader.
01:20:33
Speaker
no that's a terrible line but this looks so for getting good does look really cool exactly what but it's exactly what we wanted to see just' not the no part of it yeah that's exactly what we wanted to see at the end it should have we yeah yeah Yeah, that's going to come out. Hot Toys. Probably expensive, but it looks awesome.
01:20:51
Speaker
um I wanted to bring this up. Superman has a new comic kind of tying in with a new movie. um A Friendship Unleashed with him and Crypto. um And just them and and Superman and Crypto and Milk Bone. I think Milk Bone is the sponsor of this comic book. Yeah, i probably. yeah i'm going through there Because there's a Milk Bone billboard in the background of one of the pictures of the shot I just noticed.
01:21:14
Speaker
um But yeah, it's them going through Metropolis and him with his pet dog. Also, more Superman swag. um If you have $250 to blow, this watch is pretty cool.
01:21:27
Speaker
I mean, to be fair, it's still cheaper than an Apple Watch if you want to watch. It is cheaper. but If you just want to watch. The one I like is the Superman that's the second timer on the clock and he ends up flying around Metropolis, which looks really cool.
01:21:40
Speaker
um I saw the video of it. um There's also another one that so looks like all metal. Looks really cool. I like the metal one lot. It's a little classier. That's like if you're going to a wedding or something, you want wear a Superman watch. Class it up a bit.
01:21:51
Speaker
Speaking of weddings, cufflinks, a bracelet if you're into bracelets. But the big thing that I want is that fucking wallet. I need a new wallet. I can't wait to look into that. I really hope they make a deal, and they probably will, with...
01:22:03
Speaker
the Ridge Company because I love these wallets and to have them with the Superman symbol would be awesome. Yeah, that'd be cool. That'd be very, very cool. um And released today... leaked today online these Funko Pops for the Fantastic Four first steps where we get our first glimpse yeah we number one we see all the characters we see a Franklin Richards confirm confirmation right there little baby Franklin ah we see all the members of the taxi for we see the thing with the trench coat incident and our entertainment earth exclusive um but we also got a first glimpse full glimpse of Galactus today um
01:22:40
Speaker
comic book accurate right down to the yeah to the skirt and everything. um And yeah, there's some pictures of them in close-up form. Franklin and Sue and Galactus the other ones.
01:22:51
Speaker
And Shalabal Silver Surfer looks really, really cool. I cannot wait for this movie. I cannot wait for Superman. July is going to be awesome. so um Speaking of Marvel...
01:23:02
Speaker
They're having a leak problem at Marvel when they're filming Doomsday because we got some glimpses of what looks to be a comic book accurate Sentinel, X-Men Sentinel on the set of of Doomsday.
01:23:14
Speaker
The chess piece definitely looks like a Sentinel from the from the from the original comic book 97 run. So, ah yeah, it looks awesome. Yeah. Spider-Man Brand New Day. Don't know much more about the movie other than the rumor that Daniel Wu is reportedly in talks to play Mr. Negative. If you played the first Spider-Man game on PS4, Mr. Negative was the villain of that movie. He was kind of a kind of a... He's an Asian actor. He's an Asian character who... The negative aspect of of pictures... He looks like a negative on on film. Where he sees it kind of black and white and and glows in the dark. He's kind of strange looking, but...
01:23:53
Speaker
That's its power. Negative zone. all All part of that. That's a big rumor. We don't know more about that. But the other thing that came out this week is Robert Downey Jr. on set of...
01:24:04
Speaker
Doomsday. Of course, Doctor Doom. I'm reading Jeremy Renner's new book, but the thing is, he's wearing a muscle suit. He's got a hairline. He's also got dots all over his head, which makes people think that his that when he plays Doctor Doom, they're either going to be doing de-aging or the mask in Doctor Doom is going to be fully CGI, which could be a bad thing.
01:24:27
Speaker
I don't know. rather see something practical. I'd like to see part practical with that. I want to see as little special effects to this movie as possible because they are kind late on filming. Like, this movie is supposed to come out so soon.
01:24:39
Speaker
That stuff worries me, which is why, like, when Superman finished a full year before, yeah so they can work on the CGI, I just hope they don't work those people too hard. Yeah. um Finally in news, the upfronts were this week, the end of the television season, promoting next year.
01:24:56
Speaker
um And in a surprise to no one, ah Kristen Ritter showed up and saying officially that she's going to be returning for just as Jessica Jones in Daredevil Born a Again Season 2.
01:25:07
Speaker
Very excited for that. Cannot wait. I loved her arc and in the Netflix series. um Her and her working with the other Defenders. We know that Season 1 of Daredevil Born Again left off with...
01:25:19
Speaker
Vigilante is being hunted by Wilson Fisk. So yeah her being one of the Vigilante is a super-powered Vigilante is going to a huge step for that show. and And what's-his-name who plays Daredevil? Charlie Cox is teasing. Yeah, there's going to lot more surprises.
01:25:35
Speaker
lot more Marvel characters may show up in this series. um And from what we gather from a lot of stories coming out from Brad Winterbaum and a lot of people who are producing this, it is going to be a series going to lasting for seasons, years.
01:25:49
Speaker
um They have a lot of faith in it. They have a lot of faith of how it's turned out, how the first season was shown and people loved it. um And it's a great way to show the ground level of Marvel characters without putting them in the movies all the time.
01:26:01
Speaker
without having to have these weird, huge, epic stories. You can have full-season arc on Daredevil and tell quite ah quite some great, great practical stories without having to go fully into CG and galactic stories and magic and all that.
01:26:15
Speaker
um You can play a lot of that on television and do a great job. so Excited for that. That's it for that. Let's get into something we've been teasing for a while. Kevin and kevin has not seen it, but he is...
01:26:26
Speaker
He's pretty pretty pretty knowledgeable what happens in the movie. but Yes. Let's get into some spoilers on a new movie. Let's get into a spoiler-filled review for Thunderbolts.
01:26:39
Speaker
Spoilers!

Thunderbolts Movie Discussion

01:26:48
Speaker
spoiler This is a poster I saw, a fan poster, um with a void with all the thunderbolts around and I thought was really cool. I wanted to have it on here to show. but First thing before we get into the the beef of the of the movie, two trailers I noticed. Number one, I saw the Fantastic Four trailer. looked awesome on the big screen. i haven't seen it until I saw this movie.
01:27:07
Speaker
The Tron on the big screen with all the red look of this movie looked fantastic. It looked incredible. I don't know if you've seen any theaters in RPX. yeah Have you seen the Tron? Oh, man. It looked fucking awesome.
01:27:19
Speaker
It looked really, really cool. I've got to watch that. I've got to watch the second Tron movie before we get into that. but Yeah. um Looked awesome. But the first part of this I want to talk about is the intro.
01:27:30
Speaker
The intro to this was Marvel Century Comics. I remember talking about the age of Century Comics at beginning of the month. Right. Where they used a lot of the old Marvel look.
01:27:41
Speaker
Well, they brought in some comics to take over. know how the Marvel has all they used to have all the characters and they used have the big fanfare and all that? Well, they brought in the Century Comics to be the Marvel letters in that where it spelled out Marvel. Right.
01:27:55
Speaker
But it was slowly being taken over by darkness. And then by the end, the whole entire symbol and scene was all taken over by darkness. And that's the intro of this movie. Um...
01:28:07
Speaker
A couple things I wanted to note in the movie. We already know Captain America 4 DC was kind of destroyed by the Red Hulk. If you take some quick glimpses of this, you look at the background, you can see some things being repaired.
01:28:19
Speaker
After all the events of Captain America 4, you see the Washington Monument being repaired in the background. You see the White House and in the Capitol Building being repaired in the background. So you see a lot of stuff kind of going back to Captain America 4.
01:28:32
Speaker
You see some archival footage of a vintage Red Guardian in a parade in Russia when and when he was in his prime in the 80s. That was kind of cool. um Very first five minutes of seeing her, Taskmaster...
01:28:47
Speaker
killed right off. Yeah, that floated around like literally like by Friday night of opening weekend. yeah was a lot of this movie toward ah ah A lot of this movie did. ah yeah Val in this movie ends up getting all the superheroes together and they're all, she's pretty much trying to clean up her mess that she made.
01:29:03
Speaker
And in doing that, they all end up fighting each other, and they end up killing Taskmaster. She's the sacrifice, so they end up killing her. think Ghost is the one that does this killing shot, but I can't remember. um there's also We also find out that Val, who was played by um Elaine from Seinfeld, she ended up buy buying the Avengers Tower.
01:29:24
Speaker
She was the one that bought it. and turned it into what's eventually going to be a watchtower for her, her Thunderbolts. Uh, we'll get into that in a minute, but, uh, in the beginning of the movie, she sets up an exhibit.
01:29:36
Speaker
Um, and the exhibit has a whole bunch of memorabilia from past movies, past moments of the Avengers. Um, you see the A from the Avengers tower up on display. It's kind of cool looking exhibit. Um, lot of political stuff is going on in this exhibit at the, at the time as well.
01:29:50
Speaker
Um, but Valentina, has this cleanup job that's going wrong. She's trying to clean up all her mess. She's running for, believe, Congress or something. She's trying to clean up everything in her past that could come back to haunt her when she's running for for government.
01:30:03
Speaker
And that includes all that includes elena our Elena, that includes Red Guardian, or not Red Guardian, Ghost. It includes everybody that she she needs to clean up, and then she sends them all into a place to be killed, pretty much, or kill each other.
01:30:16
Speaker
That's how Taskmaster dies. But she also... doesn't realize that there's an experiment in a box in there, kind of like a coffin. And then it's up being Bob, who we meet, played by Pullman.
01:30:29
Speaker
um And Bob she's like comes out of there kind of like in a coma like, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing here. Nobody knows he has powers. Nobody knows anything about him. I just kind of, Bob, that's who he is. um And they all have to try to escape. They realize Valentina has fucked them over.
01:30:42
Speaker
and like, yeah, she sent us here to kill each other. Fuck that. Let's go after her. let's get Let's get the hell out of there. And they escape, end up escaping. um Thunderbolt, the name origin, is a soccer team that Yelena played on when she was a kid when Red Guardian was her father the with the with the with the Black Widow. That's where the name came from, the Thunderbolt. wasn't from Thunderbolt Ross, which I speculated, um which is the comic book origin. but um There's a cool scene, I know you've probably seen it in the trailers, of Bucky on a motorcycle.
01:31:12
Speaker
Very Terminator 2 inspired. That scene is awesome. I mentioned Adventurer's Tower becomes Valentina's Watchtower. um But the big thing about this movie is mental health, drug abuse, feeling alone, loneliness, um and they tackled that with such kid gloves. It was amazing and incredible.
01:31:32
Speaker
um Especially Bob's story and Yelena's story. um Yelena kind of becomes bob's Bob's savior by the end of the movie. um And Bob himself...
01:31:44
Speaker
He's been a drug at addict in the past. it's been He's been abused from when he was a young age. um You see that through some flashbacks in The Void. But he ends up becoming a superhero. He goes in for experiments. Very much comic book, on the on the line of the comic book.
01:32:00
Speaker
Goes in for experiments to to to get some money and just to be better than the drug addict on the street that he is. And he ends up becoming the Sentry, who is a superhero like Superman with a whole bunch of other powers like telekinesis and a whole bunch of other things. But pretty much Superman on acid and literally on crack.
01:32:20
Speaker
um But the problem with all that power is he has this dark side to him because of all the drugs, all the abuse he went through is as a child. um When he took the super soldier serum to be the Sentry...
01:32:32
Speaker
It also unlocked a shadow in his brain of the void, and that's his kind of alter ego. The void is the physical manifestation of his dark side. So when he turns into the void, he kind of opens up this whole other parallel dimension and starts sucking people into this darkness inside of him.
01:32:49
Speaker
um And they did a great job depicting that. um At the end, they save him. um I don't want to get into the big... I want you to watch the movie and kind of get the whole picture of it, but the end they save him.
01:33:00
Speaker
um He ends up having memory loss. He doesn't realize that he was even in the void. doesn't realize he was in the void. He doesn't even realize he was a century. Kind of all that stuff has kind of gone inside of him. He doesn't remember anything memory loss. Big part of the comic books... There's actually a point in the comic books where the century doesn't even know that he was a superhero.
01:33:20
Speaker
And he's been a superhero since the nineteen sixty s There's a comic book that goes back... age of Age of Century that shows him being a comic book in the 60s when the superheroes first started. as Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, shows him at the infancy and going through time.
01:33:33
Speaker
um In the comic book, they didn't tackle any of that, but they got the gist of the character down. The memory of loss, he definitely didn't remember anything about him being the Void or the Century. um It's held bay held at bay for now.
01:33:45
Speaker
They kind of have him and a mellow tone. um And mostly that is from the family dynamic of Yelena and the Thunderbolts coming together and and and kind of hugging him and saying, you're not alone in this. You can get through this.
01:33:57
Speaker
one A lot of cool mental stuff that I did not expect from a Marvel movie. um They did a great job at doing that. But this is the first glimpse of I have for you of the century. Really cool looking Lewis Pullman. I'm sure you've seen all these pictures. They're all the internet now.
01:34:12
Speaker
um This is a really cool picture of the Void. Him in this dark shadow tone. Yep. Um, we got some promotional pictures of Century as well it came out a couple weeks ago.
01:34:23
Speaker
Um, this is the last shot when Val tries to save face, because they're all going after Val. It's like, you, you tried to kill us. We're going after you. And tried to save face, because everybody's looking at her. She starts this pre press conference right as they're about to attack her.
01:34:36
Speaker
And they all go on stage and say, these are my new Avengers. The very last scene in the movie looks right like right directly out of the comic books and she introduces them as the new Avengers.
01:34:48
Speaker
And you see the credits start to roll and the end credits montage is all this publicity and propaganda from them becoming the new Avengers, um depicting some um popular scenes from pop culture and history.
01:35:01
Speaker
um, some magazine covers, newspaper covers, so on and so forth. have picture there. Um, and then we get to the first after credit scene, which is red guardian in a supermarket, finding a box of Wheaties with the label, the new Avengers on it.
01:35:13
Speaker
Um, and the and the red guardians buying that talking to a woman and they're talking and they see their new costumes for the first time there as well. Some of them call a buck accurate and we'll get to that in the after credit scene. And then it leads off with this, the new Avengers, the new logo,
01:35:28
Speaker
Get through the whole credits. Rollin' rollin' eight minutes later. And then we get to after credits two. Fourteen months later. Number one, Sam Wilson owns the Avengers name, so he sent them a cease and desist lawsuit saying, you are not going to be the Avengers. I'm suing your ass.
01:35:48
Speaker
I'm wondering where that's going to play in Doomsday. It's definitely going to play a part, but red guardian but Sam sim Wilson has sued the new Avengers, saying you cannot have that name. um red guardian has a sponsored tracksuit looks just like something you would see at a nascar event uh sponsored i can't remember who the sponsors were but in order to change she's like why don't we change our name to the avengers with a z that way we can't be sued great line um bob is there sitting on recliner reading a newspaper kind of being kind of being just the maid of the new avengers doing the dishes cleaning up he's like yeah we don't want you to risk your powers to become the void again you just be you just do the dishes bob
01:36:28
Speaker
um And then Yelena mentions that the Avengers are dealing with a space crisis. Not sure what that's leading up to. And then all of a sudden, all the buzzers in the Washed Tower, wherever they are, start going off.
01:36:42
Speaker
And they say something's entering the atmosphere. Something's coming. We don't know what it is. um Let's get a glimpse of it. Let's see a picture of it. And we see a space shuttle. Number one, want talk about this first before we get into that. Bucky, comic book accurate, uniform, long hair,
01:36:56
Speaker
Looks bucky and more Bucky than we've seen probably in the last 10 years. Looked awesome. ah Still haven't seen the face mask, but... um The Russo brothers directed this post-credit scene just two weeks before the movie came out, by the way.
01:37:09
Speaker
um But the shuttle that they see, they end up seeing a shuttle in space coming flying through earth And that's it right there. The Fantastic Four shuttle. Yelena, John Walker, Winter Soldier are watching a screen as it's coming into the Earth's atmosphere.
01:37:24
Speaker
And that's the last scene we see in the trailer right before new Avengers and Bob will return. um Great movie. Four and a half out of five.
01:37:36
Speaker
i will say this. This is Steven Yen. What he was going to look like as a sentry, I think it would have been great too. um But I'm glad we got Pullman. I think he did a great, fantastic job playing this character.
01:37:48
Speaker
um I'm excited to see where this character goes in Doomsday because he's going to be kind of like the... If Doctor Doom goes after him ah to do anything with him, to try to unleash the the sentry and not knowing how to keep this the void at bay, that could be an interesting story.
01:38:03
Speaker
ah Going into Doomsday, wondering if they'll tackle it or not. but um The weekend that, I think it was Sunday, the weekend that the new Avengers Thunderbolts came out, Sunday they started changing all the promotion.
01:38:17
Speaker
Sunday they went to yeah l la There's big bold billboard of of the Wheaties box, Thunderbolts, and they started putting the new name on there, the new the new Avengers. um And then Monday morning,
01:38:28
Speaker
Everything, all the posters, all everything about this movie changed overnight. And then by Monday morning, Marvel's like leaning right into it. Yeah, this movie yeah was supposed to be called the new Avengers. And they decided to change it and say, yeah, we're going to do this now.
01:38:43
Speaker
We're doing this early, kind of get to get everybody to know, yeah, this is a new Avengers is what the team's going to look like going forward. And this is some more posters that came out of that. The big Wheaties box, of course. ah Some more IMAX posters, so on and so forth. Even their social media changed all the Avengers because it's copyrighted.
01:39:01
Speaker
They put the copyright symbol from Sam Wilson on the Avengers' Twitter page. So, very, very cool viral marketing. You've got also a new poster. I like this one, too. Of all the new Avengers, with all the old Avengers as shadows underneath them. You've the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, so on and so forth. Great movie.
01:39:18
Speaker
I cannot wait for you to see to get your opinion of it.
