Exploring Minor Arcana in Tarot

00:00:17
Speaker
So get in witches and let's learn all about the minor arcana.

Ghost Stories and Drinks Chat

00:00:58
Speaker
You're still drinking coffee? Oh, yeah. I'm drinking a gin and toner. Well, I have to work out, so I couldn't have a bougie drink today. I haven't done that yet today, so we'll see. Maybe I'll just go on a really long walk or something when I'm done because I don't know how well my double GMT is going to work with a workout.
00:01:22
Speaker
Um, extra coffee after last night. So, Oh yeah. Yeah. After your ghost came to visit. Fuck man. I'm leaving alone when I'm sleeping. Like, do it during the day. Do it during the day. That's fine. You want to have a conversation? We can have a conversation when I'm trying to sleep. Don't be turning off my fucking burned out light bulbs. However you did that. Exactly.
00:01:49
Speaker
I even checked them this morning. I unscrewed them and I still didn't replace them but I unscrewed them and I was like these are definitely burned out because you know it like separates the little things they weren't even connected.
00:01:59
Speaker
It came on twice. That is terrifying. That is obnoxious. It is obnoxious. It's terrifying and obnoxious. Like what a terrible way to be woken up. First of all, turning the light on whenever it's not even a someone that turned the light on. It's a ghost thing that turned the light on and your light bulbs are burnt out. Like how, how I've tried to flip that light switch like three times in the past two days.
00:02:26
Speaker
Yeah, I wish it would do that to my burned out Sensi bowl because like, right, at least I would smell good. I know. Yeah, I have this one Sensi I probably should have like
00:02:37
Speaker
Returned it or something, but I'm sure it's way past the. The date or whatever, but it's the one, the Himalayan salt lamp. And I'm just like, I love it because it's so pretty, but the bulb is constantly going out. And I'm just like, there must be. There has to be, but I'm constantly buying new bulbs. I would love for a ghost to turn that on.
00:03:00
Speaker
Especially he's burnt out. I literally, the light was on. I woke up. I sat there like fucking confused. Like, what the fuck? Did he change the bulb in the middle of the night? You're right. Both of us are like checking them and we're like, no, it's still burned out. Putting it back.
00:03:18
Speaker
Because we're children. Literally. I did the same thing though, because here's my thing. There's some light bulbs that are totally different. And unless like, I know I'm going to the store and I'm going to unscrew it to put it in my purse to bring it to the store to be like, I need this, then I'm not going to throw it away. Yeah, no. Because I know what I'm doing. We buy ours at Costco so that we always have light bulbs because we're also really bad at remembering things like that.
00:03:43
Speaker
So we'll be like, Oh fuck, we need light bulbs. Like the next time we go to Costco, we buy like a giant fucking pack of them so that we have them for the year. Yeah. That's a really good idea. Yeah. We had a really hard time moving here because

Meaning of the Four Suits in Tarot

00:03:56
Speaker
back in the States, we had changed all our light bulbs. I'm sure you probably remember we changed them all to the smart ones. Yeah. And you don't have to replace those for like.
00:04:04
Speaker
I don't even know like 15 years or some shit and they changed colors and shit was so cool. We had to get rid of all of them to move over here and then when we moved into our house off base half the light bulbs were already burnt out and then whenever you go to like the I was about to say light bulb store when you go to the place buy light bulbs I don't know any store it's not even just
00:04:29
Speaker
There's so many different types of light bulbs. I don't understand. Like I can't even tell you how many times I bought the wrong size because I couldn't figure out which one was which. We have like in all of the shit in our house, we have like five different light bulb, like base sizes that we need.
00:04:49
Speaker
Like this one, this is my fault because I picked it because I really liked it. But my ceiling fan is like small Edison bolts. And then my lamp downstairs. Cause we have a room that it has light switches, but there's no light. Like they didn't install a light in one room. Yeah. And it's like a living room type area. Like our house has.
00:05:13
Speaker
when you walk in, the bottom floor is four spaces that all just kind of like flow together, but they have like archways in between them. So the first room when you first walk into the left of the front door has no light. It has light switches, no light.
00:05:30
Speaker
So I bought like a lamp for it and it's like large Edison bulbs. This one's tiny Edison bulbs. Then like Anthony bought his ceiling fan has like a weird shape light bulb. And then like we have regular ones downstairs and then our upstairs bathrooms take these really giant ones. Crazy.
00:05:50
Speaker
It's so obnoxious. All light bulbs should have the same base. They should. They should have the same base. The light bulb can be whatever shape you want to make it, but let's just all like have the same base. It's stupid. So anyway, yeah.
00:06:10
Speaker
Onto the episode. Leaving the ghost in the past and moving on to what we're going to talk about. Right, leaving the ghost in the light bulb talk, but it's still annoying. This is just a little sneak peek into the lives of Tiffany and Sam. If you're wondering what it's like to be around us, just listen to a few episodes. Yeah. So we're talking about the minor arcana today.
00:06:38
Speaker
So just a little background on the minor arcana.

Suit Insights: Cups and Wands

00:06:41
Speaker
The four suits of the minor arcana are fundamental to the tarot structure and composition, and they correspond to the four elements being fire, water, earth, and air. These suits also represent feminine and masculine forces within the universe.
00:06:57
Speaker
Wands and swords are phallic symbolism, and they're also associated with fire and air, which are considered masculine or yang energy. Cups represent the womb. They're linked with the element water and the feminine principle, and pentacles represent the human body with the five points representing the head, the arms, and legs, and it's tied to the element of Earth.
00:07:21
Speaker
So the Minor Arcana is made up of suit cards and court cards. Suit cards give us more detail about the influence of those around us on our lives in the context and constraints within our decision making. The Minor Arcana tracks less grand movements, so each suit contains 10 chronologically ordered cards which tell their own story of a rise, fall, and a resolution.
00:07:46
Speaker
So when you're looking at cups, this suit is also known as chalices or vessels, and it's depicted as any of the following. So it can be on the card like images of cups, of chalices, of goblets, bowls, cauldrons, vases, urns, pitchers, coffee mugs, steins, bottles, and I'm sure there's more, but just think of like basically a vessel that holds something.
00:08:10
Speaker
They're associated with the element of water whose energy is receptive, interdirected, reflective, and connected with emotions, creativity, and intuition. Cups are containers and are therefore symbolic of the womb, while also signifying the ability to receive and to hold. Since this suit represents emotions, it often depicts figures on the card showing a relationship of some kind. And it doesn't have to be like a romantic relationship either.
00:08:37
Speaker
And a reading where cups are drawn may emphasize emotions on relationships with specific cards revealing whether that interaction is going to be painful or pleasurable.
00:08:50
Speaker
And as for the wands, they're known as rods, staves, or even batons. This is the suit of fire, the world of inspiration and creativity and strength. It's associated with the element of fire. And so this correlates to Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. And this element is known for being loud.
00:09:11
Speaker
passionate. They know that they are meant for greatness and crave power, but they're also impulsive and headstrong. So wands are linked to the summer. Most things in nature are reaching their optimal form during this time.
00:09:24
Speaker
And wands have been used to create power and on a spiritual level to create earned by energy. And so this is linked back to power and creation. Wands are the suit of originality, independence, individuality, and untapped potential. This is a suit that talks of all creative and artistic ventures, harkens to travel, success, spontaneity, such as house moves or relocations,
00:09:50
Speaker
health, self-confidence and self-esteem, independence, fame, and finding and following your own unique path. It also can refer to male potency, as we've already mentioned, and Wands advise you to focus on your own needs and dreams, develop your creative talent, take the lead at work, start your own business, et cetera. The promise here is personal joy and fulfillment.
00:10:15
Speaker
Any Wands venture will be dynamic, spontaneous, intuitive, and inventive. So you're tasked to expect the unexpected. And the keywords here are abundance and generosity. The key here when it comes to the Wands is when you see this come up in readings, it's finding that balance between ambition and passion without taking things too far and hurting others.

Suit Insights: Swords and Pentacles

00:10:38
Speaker
The suit of swords is often depicted as either swords, daggers, athalmes, ordinary knives, scythes, axes, or spears. It relates to the element of air, and swords symbolize rational thinking, logic, analysis, communication, and the power of the mind. Figures shown in this suit are often depicted as warriors, scholars, sages, teachers, or seekers.
00:11:02
Speaker
Many of the cards show suffering or strife, perhaps indicating the struggle involved in transforming experience into knowledge. And when swords are drawn in a reading, it usually means that mental or verbal activity is a priority and that you should stop overthinking worrying and over analyzing a particular situation.
00:11:22
Speaker
Pentacles are known as the discs or sometimes coins. This is a suit of the material world, the physical world, the practical approach, and laying a solid foundation for the future. The symbolism here is of a five-pointed star with a circle around it. This symbol is known for the perfection of nature.
00:11:41
Speaker
It also represents nature and the five elements where they are in harmony. Pentacles are ruled by the earth and this suit has its feet on the ground. There is no flight of fancy and it correlates to the zodiac signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. These are very grounded signs. They persevere and they're stubborn. They have a strong work ethic and they're very patient.
00:12:05
Speaker
This suit understands that real world effort must be put into anything to be successful. Studying hard and learning new skills and developing yourself in a practical sense is the keywords for this suit. This is a suit of security and stability and of practical organization of our daily lives. And it's all about the material things. Pintacles is associated with spring. During this time, seeds are being sown. There's a first bounty. Things are beginning to bloom.
00:12:33
Speaker
And there's many new beginnings and energy and ideas are taking shape. This suit refers to the home, the family, animals, financial matters, and property, especially in reference to house moves and buying homes or land. It's not necessarily in reference to a sudden upheaval or uprooting, but in reference to a planned gradual change. Pentacles calls for the need to use common sense to check facts and to be practical and pragmatic when it comes to

Significance of Cards Ace to Five

00:13:02
Speaker
problem solving.
00:13:03
Speaker
And I saw this online, I thought it was really interesting. I read that any pentacle venture will be step by step, but have a sure foundation and call for long term success. The keywords here are patience and persistence with this suit. So now we're going to jump into all the numbers. And I found this quote, because you know, I love me a good quote.
00:13:26
Speaker
This is from Rudolf Steiner. He's the founder of Anthroposophy, which if you're like me and you thought it was a typo and had to look it up, this is the wisdom of the human being, which I thought was kind of cool. That is cool, but I've never heard of that. Right. I was like, is this a typo? So I had to like Google the word and I was like, no, this is a real thing. He's also the founder of the Waldorf schools.
00:13:50
Speaker
So he said, those who deepen themselves in what is called in the Pythagorean sense, the study of numbers, will learn through the symbolism of numbers to understand life and the world. I thought that was precious and very fitting.
00:14:04
Speaker
It's very fitting. So with that, let's dive into the cards. First, we're gonna talk about aces to fives. So ace is the card of new beginnings. We have endless possibilities, all inspiration. Ultimately, this is a positive card as it indicates hope, dreams, intention, and the pursuit of meaning, truth, and pleasure, beginnings, individuality, and focus.
00:14:31
Speaker
One in itself symbolizes the beginning with aces being full of potential. The time is ripe with possibilities and you have the choice to start something. Aces in a reading signify that you are at the starting point and you're being offered an opportunity that needs following through. And it can also signify the need to be alone for solitude, focus, concentrated energy, and a clarity of purpose.
00:14:59
Speaker
This card is also known as the gift from the goddess. In the Rider Waite Smith deck, a disembodied hand is shown extending from the cloud on the ace cards holding out like the tool or the symbol to the seeker. When drawn in a reading, it means that you're being offered an opportunity or a gift from the goddess. So in relation to each suit, for wands,
00:15:25
Speaker
Whenever you see the ACE come up, it relates back to fertility, inspiration, new opportunities, growth, and potential. Reverse, this can mean an emerging idea, lack of direction, distractions, and delays. And for the pentacle suit, this ties back to fertility, and ever since the word, new financial career or opportunities, manifestation, and abundance. And if you see this reversed, this could mean a lost opportunity, lack of planning or foresight.
00:15:55
Speaker
With cups, it's new love beginning a creative activity and joy. Upright, it denotes a burst of joy and often heralds a new romance. It can also represent the start of a creative project that makes you feel happy. Sometimes it also indicates the birth of a child or the birth of an idea.
00:16:14
Speaker
Reversed, it can indicate a delay in starting a relationship or mean that a romance that seemed promising doesn't develop or doesn't turn out. It may also indicate that this is not the right time to start something new. For swords, this is going to be focus, beginnings, new ideas, opportunity, truth, and clarity.
00:16:35
Speaker
Upright it indicates success through the use of mental means or spiritual growth. It means to seize opportunities that are offered to you. It can also point to a breakthrough or an inspiration. Reverse, it may warn that an idea isn't valid or that you're not yet clear in your own mind and you shouldn't proceed at this time. Communicate clearly to avoid miscommunications. Now moving on to two.
00:17:04
Speaker
This card in all of the suits is a fairly positive card. It correlates to the first real effort of chasing your dreams. It's tied to partnerships, union, a balance or imbalance. And when drawn in a reading, it can mean that you're forming an alliance of some sort or that you want to. It can suggest development in whatever you started with the ace, like expanding on that, stabilizing it, and maybe splintering your efforts.
00:17:36
Speaker
And so whenever you see this come up in the two of wands, this is telling you that it's time to make plans for the future. It's time to evaluate your current situation. And this card is all about progress, decisions, and discovery. Reverse, when you see this come up, it relates back to your personal goals, your inner alignment, maybe some fear of the unknown and a lack of planning. And if you see this come up in the pentacles, so for the two of pentacles, that usually means handling
00:18:05
Speaker
It usually correlates to you handling several things at one time. This is a multitasking card. Are you putting too much on your plate? And it can also harken back to playful learning of knowledge and skills. If you see this reverse, though, it could mean that you're overcommitting, that you have some disorganization going on, and that you need to reprioritize your tasks to achieve your goals.
00:18:30
Speaker
The Two of Cups ties to partnership, harmony, creative exchange, and cooperation. Upright, it indicates a period of harmony when things go smoothly. It can be thought of as the honeymoon card in this regard. In reverse, it suggests disharmony and a lack of cooperation, and it can indicate dwindling affection, inequality, or a lack of support.
00:18:53
Speaker
The two of swords, this ties to combined resources, courage, faith, friendship, conflict, and balance. Upright, it symbolizes balancing the right and left hemispheres of your brain, combining intuition with intellect, and it can also be advising you to take off your blindfold and look at the situation honestly.
00:19:15
Speaker
If it's reversed, this often indicates confusion or conflict, that there's an imbalance that may like possibly cause you stress, and it urges you to take action and to make a leap of faith.
00:19:27
Speaker
Now for the number three. In all the suits, it usually is a card that provides a welcome stability and grounding. It's the card of self-expression, development, and reaping the benefits. Three is the number of self-expression and communication. And when a three is drawn in a reading, it indicates that you're opening up, moving beyond your norm, and broadening your horizons.
00:19:53
Speaker
So when you see this come up in the Three of Wands, this is telling you that you need to wait for results to show up. Don't sit back and relax, be vigilant, and it refers to progress, expansion, foresight, and maybe even something related to overseas opportunities, which is pretty cool.
00:20:10
Speaker
And if you see this come up in a reverse setting, this usually means that you're lacking foresight and you are going to have or you're going to experience unexpected delays. And it might mean that you're playing small, so you're not really looking towards the future and you're thinking too small when you should be looking at like the overarching theme or looking at bigger opportunities that are heading into your way.
00:20:34
Speaker
If this shows up in the Pentacles, so the Three of Pentacles is all about putting your knowledge into the world, sharing your talents with others. And it's challenging you to do your thing, to make sure that you are leaning into teamwork and learning and collaboration. Reverse, when you see this, it could mean that there's some disharmony going on. There's maybe some misalignment.
00:20:58
Speaker
in any sort of teamwork or collaboration, and it could represent you just working alone on something. The Three of Cups is tied to celebration, fulfillment, friendship, community, happiness, and fun. Upright, it suggests that you're enjoying a good time with those that you care about and you admire. It can be thought of as the Cheers card and often suggests that there's a common bond.
00:21:25
Speaker
Reverse, it can indicate indulgence and the need for a break. With the three of swords, we're looking at suffering, heartache, regret, grieving, sorrow, and loss, which sounds like a very sad card. Upright, it signifies separation and or suffering a connection to something or someone. In reverse, it suggests that you're making more of an unhappy situation than necessary or that the disappointment is only temporary.
00:21:53
Speaker
Well, good to know. I love going through all of these because some of the cards, it's like, this is the happiest card in the tarot deck and this is the saddest card in the tarot deck. Yeah. Like there's so many like cute little ties to the cards, but sometimes you're like, Oh God, I hope I never pull that card. Right. Yeah.
00:22:20
Speaker
And let me tell you, none of them were the devil or death. Yes, exactly. The horror, the horror movie. Go to. So for for whenever you see this, there is this is usually tied to a plateau of energy. It could be relating back to laziness, confusion, or foreboding of problems to come, which is never good.
00:22:43
Speaker
The number four is also tied to stability, work, and perseverance. When drawn in a reading, it can indicate a time of self-discipline, work, and service, or even putting down roots in establishing yourself. Four's message is to take things slow and steady and be patient.
00:23:00
Speaker
Now, if you see this come up in the Four of Wands, this is all about celebrating your progress so far. You aren't where you want to be yet. And it's associated with safety and the comfort of home, weddings, parties, and social events.

Themes of Cards Six to Ten

00:23:14
Speaker
And it could be related back to joy, harmony, relaxation, and some sort of homecoming. Reversed, this might come up, say, if you have a personal celebration, if you're
00:23:27
Speaker
know, wanting to focus on your own inner harmony, or say if you have a conflict with others or you're going through some sort of transition. The Four of Pentacles refers to holding onto something out of pride, being too stubborn, or closing yourself off to new experiences and opportunities. This could also indicate that you're saving money
00:23:48
Speaker
or that there's some sort of control or scarcity or conservation for security. And if you see this reversed, it could indicate that you are overspending, that you're being greedy, or there's a need for self-protection.
00:24:03
Speaker
With the Four of Cups, this is tied to withdrawal, rest, boredom, and a lack of inspiration. So upright, it symbolizes boredom and stagnation or a lack of satisfaction. It can indicate that you've sacrificed happiness for security. Reversed, it can indicate that you need some time and space alone to recuperate and recharge emotionally.
00:24:28
Speaker
When we see the four come up in swords, that's tied to rest, recuperation, retreat, solitude, introspection, and recovery. Sometimes this card is referred to as the calm after the storm. Upright, it signifies that you've been through a period of difficulty and that you feel the need for solitude.
00:24:48
Speaker
It can also indicate that you're starting to recover after a physical illness or injury reversed. This card indicates that you might need to rest, but it suggests that you aren't taking the time required to do so. It could suggest that you are bringing illness on yourself for not allowing yourself to recuperate in a holistic way.
00:25:11
Speaker
So the five in a lot of the suits relates back to conflict and strife. Oh, I know. Five can also relate to change and stability and stress. When drawn in a reading, five suggests excitement, adventure, movement, and challenges. But this can also be a roller coaster of things if they happen too quickly.
00:25:38
Speaker
When the five of ones come up, this is an intense card depicting the struggles we face when we are working towards our goals and it relates back to misunderstanding, competition, discussion, fights. This card reminds us that everyone is working through things and not to take it too seriously. This could relate back to disagreements,
00:25:59
Speaker
Tension and diversity and reversed. If you see this come up, this could relate back to some sort of inner conflict or maybe you're avoiding conflict in the workplace or just with people that you know and are close to and there's a need for attention release.
00:26:17
Speaker
For Pentacles, if you see the five of Pentacles come up, this is like one of the saddest cards to me when you're just looking at it. This refers back to isolation. This shows what happens when you are not open to new experiences and you're too consumed in your own misery. In the card, you see two homeless looking people so miserable and isolated and consumed by their own suffering that they don't see that they are passing by a church, which correlates as a place to ask for help.
00:26:45
Speaker
So drawing in this self-pity, withholding yourself from solutions, this card also relates back to poverty, financial loss, worry, and isolation. And if you see this reverse, it could indicate that you will soon have a recovery from financial loss or maybe some sort of spiritual poverty that you've been experiencing. There might be an end to that, which I guess is a bright side.
00:27:11
Speaker
With the cups, this relates to disappointments, sadness, loss, loneliness, and heartbreak. So five is just a sad number.
00:27:22
Speaker
It really is. It's considered one of the saddest cards in the tarot deck. Upright, it signifies a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. It shows that you may be focusing on what you lack rather than what you have. This card is also sometimes referred to as the self-pity card.
00:27:43
Speaker
Reversed, this suggests that you're not certain how to handle a disappointment or a loss, but that you're starting to move away from the hurt. This is a card of healing and it represents acknowledging the struggles that strengthen us. With swords, this relates to change, adjustment, loss, destruction, conflict, and decision and sadness.
00:28:09
Speaker
Upright, it symbolizes using diplomacy to resolve problems and subtle disputes. In reverse, it holds the upright symbolism, but it also suggests that you may be displaying feelings of remorse, regret, or unhappiness, and a need to set things right.
00:28:27
Speaker
So now let's look at the cards numbered six through 10. For six, this is a sphere of beauty and it proclaims happy times and much success. I can't sound like more of that. My why. I can't do my why. So good. Anthony does it too.
00:28:50
Speaker
But, you know, every time I read, like, anything written like that, I can say much success. Oh, my gosh. Six can also relate to contentment, harmony and community. It signifies a period of calm after the storm. So take time to attend to your everyday needs and allow yourself to rest.
00:29:15
Speaker
When drawn in a reading, sex indicates that it's time to stop, to recuperate, and to enjoy the rewards of your hard work. Sex's vibration is cooperative and can represent working with others and providing a service. Sex's vibration is really hard to say. That is. It sounds like you're going to say sexes. Sexes.
00:29:44
Speaker
So when you see the six of wands come up in your readings, this could indicate that the struggles were worth it. Everything is going your way and you're receiving the appreciation that you deserve. This card represents that people are cheering and praising you.
00:30:00
Speaker
So it can refer to success, public recognition, progress, self-confidence. But if you see it in reverse, it could also indicate private achievement, personal definition of success. So you're looking inward and you're trying to define that within yourself. It could also, though, indicate
00:30:20
Speaker
a fall from grace or egotism, which just works through that if you see that. Pay attention to that. But if you see this come up in the Six of Pentacles, things are getting better. And this hearkens back to letting go of your pride, asking for help, and reminding us that there is no need to compete with others. When this card is pulled, it can mean you are on the giving or receiving end of help.
00:30:46
Speaker
So it could indicate sharing, generosity, wealth, and charity. But if you see this in reverse, it could let you know that, or it could indicate that self-care is needed. It could maybe indicate that you have some unpaid debts that you need to pay attention to, or it could indicate one-sided charity. With the Six of Cups, we're looking at nostalgia, emotional renewal, happiness, and harmony.
00:31:14
Speaker
Upright, this card represents a willingness to share joy and is a card of emotional renewal, but reversed it signifies pleasant things that can show a strengthened emotional capability and it encourages you to find happiness in the present.
00:31:28
Speaker
The Six of Swords relates to movement, escape, and a change for the better. Upright, it suggests smooth sailing ahead as you leave behind the trauma and the sadness of the past. It's time to embark on a new path with gained knowledge. It can also symbolize a journey or a vision quest. Reversed, it might suggest that you're stuck in a troubling situation and that you might fear taking a leap of faith to leave your old ways behind. So let's talk about seven.
00:31:58
Speaker
The seven card and all suits bring some hardship, but you are more than equipped to deal with it. So if you embrace a challenge, there can be pleasure in the work.
00:32:09
Speaker
Seven is tied to retreat, spirituality, and inner growth. And when drawn in a reading, seven indicates a time of turning inward to discover the meaning of life, what has happened to you, and why. Seven indicates that this is not the right time to start or devote yourself to a material or financial undertaking as your priorities lie elsewhere. It's also considered a mystical number that represents wisdom, spirituality, and wholeness.
00:32:39
Speaker
And this ties to the fact that there are seven heavens, there's seven days to a week, seven colors in the visible spectrum, seven notes in a musical scale, seven major chakras in the human body. Like, this number is tied to so many things where that's just like, oh, hey, there's seven of these.
00:32:59
Speaker
So I thought that was kind of cool. That is cool. I didn't know there was some in heavens. All I could think of was that TV show. And then didn't the dad like, he was like into child pornography or something, right?
00:33:17
Speaker
But Jessica Biel, because she was on that, right? She was on that? Yeah. She got kicked off of it because she had released some risque photos on the internet back when, you know, the interwebs was new. I remember that. So they kicked off because it was supposed to be a Christian show. Right. But the dad can like.
00:33:38
Speaker
Diddle kids and look up porn like that doesn't make any sense like kitty porn. I think the other girl did something too and then the the kid that played the sun I think was like a drug scandal or so there was like a scandal with all the kids on that show. Yeah, I just remember this is a little one was so cute. What is her name Ruby? Why do I know this? The sun I used to think he was so cute. Was it Simon?
00:34:04
Speaker
Yes. And I remember even the actor was David Gallagher. Again, why do I know this? And then the other, the younger or the like second oldest or whatever the girl, I can't remember what her name was. Was it Lucy? I think so. Why is this like burned in my memory?
00:34:26
Speaker
It was a really good show though. It was a really good show even being what it was. Yeah. I just remember when like I used to love that show so much and it was during that era where I was like trying so hard to pretend like I was Christian. So I was just like taking notes and like
00:34:42
Speaker
I too was trying hard to pretend that I was Christian so that I didn't get in trouble.

Understanding Court Cards

00:34:48
Speaker
They're like, well, Lucy did this on the show this week, so I do this. Friends don't let friends date Jason book that my mother bought.
00:34:59
Speaker
I told you about these named Jason or just Jason. So we talked about this. I think I sent them to you. They were a Christian book series for like young adults, like preteen young adult type era. And my mom bought me these books. And the only one I can remember the name of was boys don't let friends date or girls don't let
00:35:24
Speaker
friends date Jason. And basically Jason was like the star athlete, but he wasn't a Christian.
00:35:30
Speaker
Yeah. What? Okay. But also like, I really like the name Jason. And what a terrible. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and it was like, I want to say Jason's the premise of it was like, they were a group of girls and they met at the flagpole every day to pray before school. And it was terrible. It was another one of those like Christian.
00:35:59
Speaker
Oh, gross. I don't like it. Anyway, moving on. Moving on. If the seven of wands come up in your reading,
00:36:11
Speaker
This could mean that you are in this position where you're having to defend your position. So others are trying to take advantage of you and your success. And it reminds us to not be too defensive. We've already achieved our goal or it's like right there. We're almost there and no one can take it away from you.
00:36:30
Speaker
So this just reminds you that challenge is there, competition is there, and it reminds you to protect yourself and to persevere because that's what this card is about. If you see this reversed, this could mean that you have some exhaustion going on. Maybe you're feeling like you're overwhelmed or that you need to give up.
00:36:55
Speaker
Just pay attention to that. And if the seven of Pentacles shows up in your reading, this is telling you to have the patience to let things grow. You've put a lot of hard work into all this and you need love and patience. Remember that when you're working hard, you should still try to have fun. Enjoying what you do is just as important as success. So make sure, you know, while you have that long-term view to achieve sustainable results,
00:37:22
Speaker
and perseverance and investment, just make sure that you're actually having fun in doing so. And if you see this in reverse, this can harken back to maybe a lack of long-term vision, limited successes and rewards, or maybe some sort of unsustainable results. So maybe if you're trying to do like a get rich quick situation or something that's not sustainable, when this card comes up in reverse, it's probably telling you, hey, this is not gonna work out for you. Maybe you should try something else.
00:37:52
Speaker
The seven of cups could relate to possibilities, potential, imagination, and fantasy. Upright, it suggests many choices and paths are available to you, but that you may have a hard time choosing the right path. It encourages you to trust your intuition and to let your intellect be your guide. Reversed, it can mean that you're in a fog about your future or that you're finally gaining clarity about your direction in life.
00:38:20
Speaker
The seven of swords is uncertainty, illusion, impetuousness, stealth, cunning, and strategy. Upright it suggests a tricky situation in which things are not completely clear or that you're lacking the full scope of information needed. It could also indicate that a plan might be risky or that it could backfire.
00:38:42
Speaker
Reversed, this can mean that you're behaving impetuously or that you're overly cautious and afraid to act. It could also be encouraging you to come clean about a mistake. So moving on to eight. This card asks us to look critically at where we've come and to make changes as needed.
00:39:03
Speaker
It's tied to material gain, to recognition, and to success. When drawn in a reading, it could be saying that you possess the organizational and managerial skills for material success or that you need to develop them. It also suggests that it's time to get your financial or worldly affairs in order. The number eight's vibration is linked with honor, respect,
00:39:29
Speaker
awards, public recognition, and abundance in all areas of life. When you draw an eight, the potential to achieve these is there, but you must be dedicated to achieving them. So if you see the Eight of Wands come up in your reading, this could indicate that you need to pick your battles. Don't waste time defending yourself against people that don't matter. Know when you're fighting to fight instead of just defending yourself. And this card can also indicate that things are happening really fast.
00:39:59
Speaker
And these things may be beyond your control. It could also refer to air travel and alignment. And it could just harken back to things are happening for you really fast, and they're coming together really fast. Your plans are coming together fast. If you see this come up reversed, it could mean delays or frustration. It could also indicate that you're resisting change or there's something wrong with your internal alignment.
00:40:27
Speaker
So if you see the aid of Pentacles come up, this could mean that you're closer to the end. You're working your ass off to reach your goal. Nothing can stop you and you're fully committed to your goal. This could indicate that you're undertaking an apprenticeship role or that you're working toward mastery, skill development, or it could relate to any repetitive task that you're doing that is meeting your goal. So if you see this reversed, it could mean that you need to work on your own self-development,
00:40:56
Speaker
maybe you're being too perfectionist, or it could mean that the activity that you're focusing on is misdirected and you need to focus that energy elsewhere. The ADA cups is related to turning away to cutting losses, decline, dejection, and seriousness.
00:41:17
Speaker
Upright, it's time to let go and when you see this card upright, it's time to let go and to remove yourself from situations that have failed while moving on and finding new direction. It encourages you to learn from your experiences. Reversed, it's saying to stick it out and devote yourself to making it work.
00:41:36
Speaker
The Eight of Swords is related to entrapment, self undoing, fear, helplessness, bondage, denial, and deception. This card is sometimes referred to as your own worst enemy card. Upright, you have the resources to overcome a self undoing if you overcome your own fears, but reverse it suggests that you need to change the way that you see and do things to break through your own barriers. It suggests that you should get your affairs in order
00:42:06
Speaker
to avoid things getting any worse. Let's look at nine. Whenever you see nine come up in your readings, this could mean that you're nearly at the end of the cycle. There's a big payoff, whether that be negative or positive, but we are not at the end of the story yet.
00:42:23
Speaker
Nine is related to humanitarianism, to wisdom and completion, and drawing a nine in a reading suggests that you're dedicating yourself to helping others or to a worthy cause. Nine's vibration allows you to see the big picture. Since nine is the last number that is a single digit, it represents the end of a cycle. It's time to tie up loose ends.
00:42:45
Speaker
Nine often depicts fulfillment completion and the sense of satisfaction that comes from having reached a peak after a long climb. So when you see the nine of wands come up this
00:42:58
Speaker
card kind of looks like a wounded soldier. He hasn't learned his lesson from card eight. So this could indicate that there's some damage or brokenness, but he's continuing the fight. This card can indicate that you're too stubborn to leave a situation, even though you know it's for the best.
00:43:18
Speaker
But it could also relate to resilience, courage, persistence. It could also mean a test of faith and boundaries. And if you see this come up reversed, it could indicate that there's some issue with your inner resources. Maybe there's a struggle going on, you're feeling overwhelmed or defensive, or it can mean that you're paranoid about something going on in your life.
00:43:40
Speaker
As far as Pentacles, when the Nine of Pentacles comes up, this card is the indication that your first results are showing. You are almost as experienced and knowledgeable as you can be, and it's time to reap the benefits of your hard work. This card represents wealth and power, abundance, luxury, self-sufficiency, and financial independence.
00:44:02
Speaker
But if it comes up reversed, it could refer to you just knowing your own self worth or maybe you're hustling for something or you're over invested in work and you need to take a closer look at that.
00:44:17
Speaker
The Nine of Cups is related to wishes coming true, good luck, happiness, abundance, and generosity. The Nine of Cups is often also called the wish card. Upright, it can signify that you have achieved a position of comfort, abundance, and happiness, and that the universe is like smiling down on you, basically. Reversed, it can indicate indulgence, excess, and or a smugness about your riches.
00:44:47
Speaker
The Nine of Swords is related to despair, isolation, sadness, fear, grief, and shame. This card is sometimes referred to as the Dark Knight of the Soul card, which...spooky.
00:44:59
Speaker
That is spooky shit. Right. Upright, it suggests that you may be agonizing over a problem and bogging yourself down with worry and fear. It can also refer to deep rooted or repressed problems that are surfacing, sometimes in the form of nightmares. And these are issues that you need to resolve.
00:45:22
Speaker
Reversed it signifies completion and the end of a crisis, and it might indicate getting professional help with a problem. So let's look at the 10. Whenever the 10 comes up in any of the suits, this is the resolution card. It's not always happy, and this is the what now card. As one cycle is ending, another is beginning.
00:45:43
Speaker
10 is related to endings and beginnings like Sam said and fulfillment. 10 represents the point of transition from the completed cycle to the new cycle. When drawn in a reading it means that whatever you have been working on is completed and it's time to move on to the next thing.
00:46:00
Speaker
It serves as an affirmation that you've done what you've set out to do.

Engagement Invitation

00:46:05
Speaker
And when stagnant, drawing a 10 means that you should challenge yourself and reach for a higher goal and make decisions that need to be made. 10 carries the symbolism of wholeness. The Kabbalah's Tree of Life features 10 emanations of
00:46:20
Speaker
of divinity, God gave Moses 10 commandments, 10 represents the whole of creation and the Pythagorean system and so on. When the 10 of wands come up, this is an indication that all the baggage that you've collected is not really helping you. The man is forcefully holding on to his wands, even though it may be better if he left some behind. This could indicate that you're holding a grudge, maybe there's too much emotional baggage that you're holding on to,
00:46:49
Speaker
Or maybe you have too much on your plate. It can mean that you're burdened or you're carrying so much extra responsibility, but it can also mean that you have worked really hard, that you're continuing to work hard.
00:47:03
Speaker
and that you're dedicated to the completion of a project. So it really just depends on the situation. Reverse, if this comes up in a reading, it means that you're doing it all. You're carrying the burden and it may indicate that you need to delegate and release some tension that you're holding on to or some work that you're holding on to.
00:47:23
Speaker
If this comes up in Pentacles, the 10 of Pentacles is all about completion. Your work is done and you're experiencing comfort and knowledge. And now it's a time to share your knowledge and wealth with others. This can mean teaching or passing on your legacy. I mean, if you see in the card, it's
00:47:41
Speaker
Um, kind of like this old man and he's looking down on his family and he sees like what I'm assuming or what I indicate from the symbolism, like his children, his grandchildren, and hearkens back to family, long-term successes, financial security, and wealth. And if you see this reversed, this could indicate that there's a dark side to wealth and this can relate all back to that. It could also indicate that there's some sort of financial failure or loss that you're working through. So.
00:48:10
Speaker
Not so happy when it's reversed, but super happy if it is upright. The ten of cups could mean comfort, happiness, domestic bliss, love, and harmony. It's a card of fulfillment and upright. It signifies a time of completion and abundance in the true sense of the word.
00:48:30
Speaker
Reversed, it may point to disharmony or disappointments in your home life. It can suggest a family that puts too much emphasis on stuff and not enough on love. The Ten of Swords is tied to exhaustion, giving up betrayal, pain, and sadness.
00:48:47
Speaker
Upright, this card signifies an end to trials and tribulations, but that the work needs to be done still before you can move ahead. It suggests that you make a clean break from the past to alleviate pain and suffering. Reverse, this card suggests that you're unwilling to take the steps that will move you in the right direction. It encourages you to stop making excuses and to choose a course of action.
00:49:13
Speaker
So let's look at the court cards. As far as the page, page just in a nutshell, these are the students of the suit. This person is not a master, but he is someone who is engaged in figuring it out.
00:49:28
Speaker
So in the wands, if you see the page of wands come up, this indicates that you have a ton of ideas, but you lack the confidence to make things possible. You may not understand how to make things work yet, but you will. And you're never short on ideas, but you require focus, confidence, and the know-how to make things work. This relates back to inspiration, limitless potential, and free spirit.
00:49:54
Speaker
And if you see this reversed, it may indicate that you have some newly formed ideas. Maybe you need to redirect your energy or maybe it can indicate that you have some self-limiting beliefs. So you might need to
00:50:07
Speaker
do some inner reflecting if this card comes up reversed. For pentacles, it can mean manifestation, financial opportunity, and skill development. It could indicate that there's a promise of abundance, but there's knowing that there are challenges along the way. And if you see this reversed, it could indicate that there's a lack of progress, maybe some procrastination, or indicating that you're going to learn from failure.
00:50:34
Speaker
The page of cups is tied to naivety, openness, sensitivity, immaturity, and a lack of boundaries. The significator of this card would be a young female born under the zodiac sign in cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces. Upright, it can indicate self-esteem issues. It suggests a keen intuition and latent artistic ability. It can also represent early stages of a relationship.
00:51:01
Speaker
It comes up reversed, it often indicates pain resulting from an unhappy relationship or family situation. It can show a fear of rejection, feelings of unacceptance, or feeling unloved overall while lacking trust.
00:51:17
Speaker
In the suit of swords, it's tied to study, vigilance, apprehension, inexperience, curiosity, and a message. As the significator, it's a young female born under the zodiac sign of Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius.
00:51:33
Speaker
Upright, it signifies the possibilities of branching out and challenging yourself, and it encourages you to trust yourself. If it comes up reversed, it suggests that you may lack clarity or direction. It could indicate irresponsibility, idealism, impracticality, or frivolousness. So let's look at the nights now.
00:51:57
Speaker
Nights are action oriented and they're ready to go. In the Wands, if when you see the Night of Wands, this is fire on fire. So you're burning up with endless ideas and schemes, big dreams, and you're not stopping to think of the dreams and schemes. And if they're good or even possible, you're just ready to go.
00:52:19
Speaker
So in readings, this could relate to you or someone you know. If it's someone you know, this may mean that you will be picking up the slack because the Knight of Wands is notorious for leaving things unfinished. This could be that someone has popped up in your life and you should enjoy it while it lasts and maybe let them go.
00:52:37
Speaker
because they're not going to stay around. But if this is coming up in a reading and it's related to you, this means don't settle. You are feeling your best self and you know your limitations. Don't lead others on and if you're not pulling your weight in a project, maybe strive to do better or just leave the situation because you know that you're not going to commit.
00:52:59
Speaker
This card relates back to energy, passion, inspired action, adventure, and impulsiveness. And when you see this come up reversed, it could mean that there's maybe you have some scattered energy or there's some delays and frustration. It can harken back to a passion project that you have or trying to complete something in haste.
00:53:21
Speaker
If this comes up in Pentacles, the Knight of Pentacles relates back to hard work, productivity, routine and conservatism. This card is basically telling you don't be afraid to continue the hard work, even if it's dull or repetitive, because it's going to pay off. And if you see this reversed, this could mean that you need some more self-discipline. Maybe you're feeling bored.
00:53:47
Speaker
or feeling stuck, or it could mean that you're being too much of a perfectionist. In the suit of cups, this card is tied to communication, romance, travel, idealism, and flirtatiousness. As a significator, it's a young male born under the zodiac sign, cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces.
00:54:10
Speaker
upright, it indicates changes and or travel, and the change is usually pleasant and welcomed. Reversed, it may represent insecurity and decision, lack of commitment and immaturity, especially in terms of a relationship.
00:54:27
Speaker
In the suit of swords, it's tied to daring, chivalry, forthrightness, impatience, single-mindedness, and insensitivity. As a significator, it's a young male born under the zodiac sign of Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius. Upright, it suggests that you're passionate about your ideas and you believe in the rightness of your objective. Sometimes it can also symbolize an urgent message or an unexpected trip.
00:54:57
Speaker
Reversed, it signifies that there is a lack of intensity or drive and a lack of confidence. It suggests a lackadaisical attitude, indecision, confusion, or withholding information. And just a disclaimer, the puppy is outside my office door with a squeaky toy, shaking it around like a crazy person. So if you hear it, my bad.
00:55:21
Speaker
I don't hear it. So, you know, it's so loud over here. I'm like, really? Yeah. I kept muting earlier because she was like, you could hear her shaking it. So you hear her tags on her collar and it's like smacking my door and the wall and squeaking. Oh, sweetie. She's like, I'm alone.
00:55:44
Speaker
So let's look at the queens. These are an all suit, self-assured, generous, strong, and meditative cards. And if you pull the queen of wands, this could mean anything from courage, confidence, independence. Maybe it's referring to a social butterfly, whether that be you or somebody in your life.
00:56:05
Speaker
determination. It's an inspiring card full of ideas. Maybe it could mean you're open to travel and adventure. You're very creative or you like to be your own boss. If you see this reversed, it could mean that you need to focus on your own self-respect, your self-confidence. Maybe it can mean that you're introverted and you need to look in on yourself and reestablish your own sense of self.
00:56:30
Speaker
If this comes up in Pentacles, the Queen of Pentacles is the card of nurture, practicality, and providing financially, like for your family or for yourself or just anyone. Reversed, this could indicate that maybe you're financially independent or you need to focus more on your own self-care, or maybe it could indicate that there's a work or a home conflict going on.
00:56:56
Speaker
In cups, this card is tied to creativity, fertility, strong emotion, change, and intuition. As a significator, this is a mature woman born under the zodiac sign of cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces. Upright, this card represents deep emotions, compassion, and caring. It can suggest strong feelings about someone or about something. It urges you to use your intuition
00:57:24
Speaker
or express your creativity. When connected to a person, it suggests that they're nurturing and generous, but that they are ruled by their heart, not their head, making them sometimes a little unreliable.
00:57:37
Speaker
Reversed, this card suggests that you're letting your emotions rule you and that you can't see a situation clearly because of that. It can also suggest that a situation is unstable. In the suit of swords, this card is tied to intelligence, independence, authority, objectivity, and communication. The significator would be a mature woman born under the zodiac sign of Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius.
00:58:05
Speaker
Upright, it represents authority, wisdom, and power. It suggests that you've gone through emotional trials and have grown as a result, having gained a strong will while possessing the needed intellectual resources to take charge. If this card comes up reversed, it could suggest feeling as though you are trapped or limited and maybe unable to speak your own truth.
00:58:29
Speaker
So lastly, we have the kings. The kings in all suits are the more extroverted and action-oriented card. For the king of wands, this is the king of fire. They are the born leader, and maybe you are being called to a leadership role, and this card is telling you that you are ready and you're worthy for this role. This card indicates vision, entrepreneurship,
00:58:54
Speaker
and honor, and if you see this reversed, it could indicate impulsiveness, haste, ruthlessness, or maybe you've set too high of expectations for yourself. If you see this in the Pentacles, the King of Pentacles is all about wealth, business, leadership, security, discipline, and abundance. And if you see this in reverse, fortunately, it could indicate that maybe you're financially inept, or maybe you're obsessed with wealth and status, and that you're stubborn, and for that I would just
00:59:24
Speaker
you know, maybe tell you to do some self-reflection and figure out what's going on there. Yeah. With the suit of cups, it's tied to benevolence, culture, creativity, emotional warmth, and protection. As a significator, it's a mature man born under the zodiac sign cancer Scorpio or Pisces.
00:59:48
Speaker
Upright, it represents strong emotions and creative talent. When connected to a specific person, it often indicates that this person can be trusted. When shown in reverse, it shows emotional turmoil, insecurity and defensiveness. When connected to a specific person, it suggests that they can be manipulative, emotionally controlling and vindictive. Sometimes it suggests there's dissatisfaction and maybe even frustration.
01:00:18
Speaker
In the suit of swords, it's tied to judgment, intelligence, mental power, and communication. The significator would be a mature man born under the zodiac sign of Gemini Libra
01:00:31
Speaker
or Aquarius. Upright, it represents intellectual pursuits, communication, spiritual knowledge, and study. It also sometimes indicates a decision, judgment, or a legal matter. When it comes up reversed, it can indicate mean-spiritedness, biting wit, arrogance, judgmental attitudes, or narrow-mindedness. And it's sometimes referred to as the watch your back card. I like that.
01:01:00
Speaker
I loved all the little, like, this card is sometimes referred to this. Those are my favorite parts of this. I mean, you know, I already know, like, this episode is going to be very long, considering our notes were like 15 pages long. And we cut out, well, I did. I cut out a lot of my notes. I, look, the numerology rabbit hole had me, I spiraled down.
01:01:24
Speaker
I was like, these are so cool. It is really cool. And there's, you know, I say that to just, just tell our listeners, like there's so much we could have gone into. And even with just the symbolism of each card, we could have had an episode on each freaking card just based on symbolism alone.
01:01:41
Speaker
So, you know, if there is a card that you want to talk more about or maybe, um, just learn more about or talk about the symbolism of just a specific card or, or anything, if you're having a reading, you know, definitely reach out to us or join our supercast and ask, ask us on our ask me anything. We can definitely have discussions with you on there. Um, because there's so much we could still go over with the minor Arcana. Yeah.
01:02:10
Speaker
The supercast part is really nice because, I mean, obviously you get to interact with us if you want to, but you can also interact with other people who are members of supercast. And.
01:02:37

01:03:04

01:03:13
Speaker
Do these cards mean something else to you? Like let us know because we really are interested. I mean, tarot is such a great divinatory tool and practice and it's been used for centuries. It has so much history and various cultural ties. Like there's so much to it.
