Wow. We're back. I've missed you.
Hosts' Return and Personal Updates
00:00:50
Speaker
I've missed this. I've missed the listeners. Yes, me too. Oh my gosh. It's been a really long time, honestly, because even though like our last episode, it was released like I think the middle of June. Yeah.
00:01:06
Speaker
No. Towards the end? No. Of July. was like July. Yeah. Yeah. Middle of July. we recorded that like beginning of June. Yeah.
00:01:17
Speaker
It's been long. haven't seen each other in a really long time. No. And our lives have been insane. Yeah. yeah For different reasons. It Yours more fun than mine, but you know.
00:01:32
Speaker
ah Definitely. i will mine probably more fun. It's Yeah.
00:01:38
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm there, but but it's, you know, first and foremost, we just want to say like, thank you guys for your patience and all of this and your support, because I know that we've had to pivot a little bit and take a little bit of a break. um And there may be within the next few months, another, not necessarily long, long hiatus or anything like that, but like another,
00:02:03
Speaker
maybe few times where we have to skip a week, um but we'll be back ah essentially going through some health stuff. We're PCSing in the next few months, um which essentially just means we're moving back to the States. We don't know where we're going yet. So that's like one of the most stressful parts of this is we don't know when we're moving or where we're going. We just know within the next one to three to four months, we're moving.
00:02:29
Speaker
um um Welcome to military life for all of our non-military listeners. That's basically, it's all hurry up and wait always. Yeah. so You could be leaving tomorrow or you could be leaving six months from now. We can't really tell you and we don't know where you're going. So yeah you're welcome.
00:02:46
Speaker
And so it's just like, we're we're hopeful that like maybe we can get this pushed out to like Christmas time because we have kids in schools, especially like high school. You can't just like, I don't want my high schooler to have to like repeat a semester because she wasn't able to finish. So yeah there's a lot of stuff still up in the air. But what I will say is if we have to, we're going to try and prerecord as much as we can.
00:03:11
Speaker
um And then if we have to skip a week or a couple of weeks here and there, just so that we can get back to the States. um Yeah. We have to do that. So we'll let you guys know ahead of time if that happens.
Future Plans and Platform Changes
00:03:25
Speaker
So we're crossing our fingers that we can keep it together none until then and get as much research and episodes recorded as we can. But also like we have busy lives. We both work. We, you know, you have kids. I have pets.
00:03:45
Speaker
Right. Life is really busy right now and I don't know why, but I feel like it's there's just so much going on. So we're trying our best to get ahead of it and hoping that we don't, you know, have a break. But if we do, just know that we're not happy about it either.
00:04:08
Speaker
Yeah. Yes. And, yeah you know, additionally, like just – we are very excited for the next few months. We have some things that are planned that yeah I think you guys are going to really love. And we also are just outside of, you know, thanking guys for your patience, but just the amount of love and support that we've received over the last four years and all of our listeners and stuff have led us to be in a position where
00:04:40
Speaker
some of the stuff that we're not going to talk about yet, but a lot of these really cool things that are going to be set up for the podcast, like this wouldn't happen if it wasn't for you guys. So, right you know, we're very, very grateful to everybody listens.
00:04:56
Speaker
We're also really, really excited and we can't wait to like share what these things are, but we want to get all the details figured out first. So, But it's it's coming and we're so excited.
00:05:09
Speaker
Yes. Also, you know, just a little announcement for anyone that doesn't follow our socials. put out some feelers and we asked for some feedback on our current subscription platform, which is Supercast. and we want you all to know that we we hear you and we are working on you know, we set up a Patreon, um which does seem to have a much more user-friendly interface.
00:05:43
Speaker
We don't really get to see the Supercast um interface. And i went in because, you know, my husband subscribes to ours. So I went in on his account and looked at it and I was like, oh, this isn't friendly at all.
00:05:58
Speaker
So um we we fully understand And for all of you that like Supercast and you want to stay on there for now, we still have it on there and I'm still posting everything on both.
00:06:10
Speaker
um But we have created a Patreon so you can find us on there. um We are slowly getting our backlog loaded on there. It does take a little bit of time. so just be patient with that.
00:06:24
Speaker
um I'll also be getting all the old newsletters put on there, which isn't something that has been super easy to do on um Supercast. So Patreon probably will be a little bit... um i I guess just user-friendly. I keep saying that, but like it honestly, after looking at it, it really is.
00:06:46
Speaker
um So just be patient while I work on it, but we are getting it set up and all like everything on there, all of the backlog, all of the um book club videos and stuff are slowly making their way over, but it takes time.
00:07:01
Speaker
So yeah. Yeah. And for any of the subscribers who have – are trying out Patreon with us, um let us know what you think. Yeah. Because we are really excited about some of the different things that they offer. And so yeah having that as well, like if you guys really like Patreon, like – we are down for it too.
00:07:26
Speaker
So yeah, there's a lot more, um, like we, Sam and I were just talking about this before we started recording, but there's a lot more features on Patreon that let us interact with you that, um, just allow us to do a little bit more for someone who's paying for a subscription than Supercast does. And, you know, when we started,
00:07:49
Speaker
we initially went with supercast because it was marketed as basically the patreon for podcasters it didn't have like you know for sam and i when we especially when we just started we weren't doing any videos or anything like that um so we didn't need all of the features that patreon had um and patreon took a bigger cut so we were like well let's just try supercast. We're just starting out. We don't really know where we're going with this.
00:08:16
Speaker
And it's, you know, it's been great for us, but we're learning it hasn't been great for our subscribers. And we hate that. Like we don't want you guys to pay money for something that you don't love.
00:08:29
Speaker
So, you know, if you are a supercast subscriber and you haven't really loved it, maybe, you know, move over to Patreon and do your subscription over there because I've,
00:08:41
Speaker
I feel like it is more user-friendly just from what I'm able to see. Yeah. Yeah. yeah And didn't you say that there's also like there's a free like you can trial? so like So you can do a free seven-day trial um for any of the tiers. We just moved all of the same tiers over. So it's set up just like the Supercast, um you know, in the three, six, and $9 tiers.
00:09:09
Speaker
The only difference is that Patreon also does a $1 like general support. So you don't get any features. You just get to support the show essentially for a dollar a month.
00:09:20
Speaker
And Supercast doesn't have that. At least I don't think it does. Like it was never an option for us to set up. and Patreon just automatically has that as part of it. So I thought that was kind of cool.
00:09:32
Speaker
That is really cool. Yeah. So if you are a Supercast subscriber right now and you're interested in like seeing what Patreon looks like and what sort of things are on there, you can absolutely do the seven-day free yeah um trial subscription and just see what you think.
00:09:52
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And then if you like it better, you know, cancel the Supercast and move over. he Yeah. But speaking of subscribers.
00:10:02
Speaker
Yeah. Speaking of Supercast and subscribers. Yeah. So yeah, so thank you so much. We have some new subscribers, Monica, Amy, and Jeanette.
00:10:14
Speaker
um So thank you so much for subscribing to the podcast. Well, and speaking of subscribers, we also have on Patreon, Emily.
00:10:24
Speaker
Oh, yeah. And Emily. Thank you, Emily. we do have a couple of of people on the trial subscription right now too. So we appreciate all of you being here.
00:10:36
Speaker
I just don't remember who it is and I closed it out already. Jessica and i am really sorry if I'm butchering your name, but let's see it looks like Amy Lynn kind of.
00:10:50
Speaker
Well, we see you and we love you. all Yes. So thank you. Thank you so much for trying out our, thank you so much for trying out our Patreon. We love you.
00:11:01
Speaker
Did we have an update? on but but We did not talk about that. didn't. Okay. So book club um iss coming soon it it were will be hit We're really sorry.
00:11:17
Speaker
yeah Again, life happened. Yeah. And for Charmed One subscribers, you are still getting Grimoire pages.
00:11:30
Speaker
But again, life happened. going to try to do them both tomorrow. And also same for the newsletter. It's still coming. Oh, my gosh. Maybe I'll make it like a really long one to make up for more. We're really...
00:11:43
Speaker
We're really sorry. we We had craziness happen, okay? we're Some very unexpected happened that just have altered the trajectory of just everything, and it was a lot to come to terms with. so But we're here, we're back, and we're were playing catch-up.
00:12:04
Speaker
Yes. And we're playing lots of fun stuff. Yeah. Speaking of, I know you have an update on our episodes, our topic schedule.
Listener Engagement and Topic Requests
00:12:15
Speaker
So we have gotten so many different requests in the last like couple of weeks, just out of nowhere. And so sam and I tried to plan our, almost our year basically in advance so that we can just get in and do research when we have time and then record the episodes, you know, like every week for us.
00:12:37
Speaker
But We have altered that a little bit because you guys have sent in so many different requests. so you know, if you sent us a topic request, just be on the lookout. Like we have worked those in to the next like few months of recording.
00:12:54
Speaker
Yeah. yeah And our our first one is next week. It is. it is. So you have to stay tuned to the end of this episode to see what episode it is.
00:13:04
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, and if you have any – like if you're listening to this and you're like, man, I really wish they would talk about this thing, send us an email, hop on our socials, send us a message, put it as a comment, like whatever you want to do.
00:13:20
Speaker
We yeah love when you guys send it in topics. Otherwise, we're just like, um maybe this, and we just kind of fumble around and figure out what we're going to cover for the week. so Yes, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
00:13:34
Speaker
yeah Thank you everyone. Yeah. For sending in all of the just feedback and requests for episodes and stuff like something that Tiffany and i have been saying, I feel like for years on the podcast is like, let us know what you think. Let us know what you think. Let us know what you think. so when I tell you, like when we started getting like, cause during the time when we started getting a lot of the feedback and stuff, I was dealing with all the medical stuff. And so Tiffany was sending me all of the like feedback and stuff. And I'm just like, that just completely made our day was yeah seeing that people are listening. I mean, we know people are listening because we can see the numbers, but like right that people are listening, that they want to engage with us because that at the end of the day, that is what we're trying to create is a sense of community.
00:14:21
Speaker
And so interacting with you all is some of our favorite things to do. So thank you guys. We appreciate every comment and every review and every message that we've gotten. um you know we I've been sharing them because I feel like they're so – everything that everyone sent in, it just like warmed my heart.
00:14:44
Speaker
um So I've been sharing them to our stories, but I've been like making sure to block everybody out so you you know we're not outing anyone on social media or anything. But we are seeing them and we do love them and we appreciate all of you guys.
00:14:57
Speaker
so Absolutely. But should probably get into it. Yeah. We um we know we've been gone for a while and we needed to give you guys some updates, but this is not just an updates podcast episode. No, it's not. It is not.
00:15:13
Speaker
What are we talking about today?
Spooky Locations: Okinawa
00:15:15
Speaker
This one of my favorite types of episodes. We love covering spooky shit because we are spooky bitches. We are spooky bitches. Yeah. This is an amazing episode. we are...
00:15:27
Speaker
covering spooky destinations, but we're changing it up a bit instead of going to a specific location. i mean, this still is a specific location, right? But we're focusing more on military specific places.
00:15:41
Speaker
so Yeah. Because both of us are, we are military families and we have experienced lots of spooky things on military installations or surrounding military installations.
00:15:55
Speaker
So why not cover it? Exactly. Yeah. So i'm really excited about this. Yes. All right. So to kick it off, I'm going to talk about Okinawa and to give a little bit of background and history on Okinawa in general, for those of you who may be listening and you don't really know anything about it, Okinawa has long been rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the world.
00:16:23
Speaker
The reasons go beyond just ghost stories. They're rooted in one of the most bloodiest and tragic chapters of World War ii So a little bit of history here. There's so much history. Like I'm just going to preface that there's so much history. There's so much background when it comes to Okinawa. And this is just a very small piece of it. Like there is so much history prior to World War II. Like I'm not trying to, you know, make it seem like anything related to this island with um tragedy is all surrounding World War II. And because that's not the case, but just to give a brief,
00:16:56
Speaker
background military related wise, um, as to why the energy here, um, people say is so heavy and so charged.
00:17:07
Speaker
A lot of it has to do with what we're to. So in March of 1945, American forces landed on Zamami. I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing that correctly, but it's part of the Karama islands just off of the coast of Okinawa.
00:17:21
Speaker
But for the Okinawan people, the arrival of the U.S. military didn't mean liberation. it meant fear and death. Because Japanese propaganda convinced many Okinawans that the U.S. soldiers were inhuman monsters who would capture, torture, and rape anyone they captured or came in contact with. So in many communities around the island, entire terrified families took their own lives by hanging, drowning, or swallowing rat poisons.
00:17:48
Speaker
So not everyone on the island chose to believe the propaganda, but there are many instances of this happening both in the Karama Islands and on the big island of Okinawa. And I was reading about one survivor of the war who was 10 years old and He was living on Zamami watched his entire family die of rat poison.
00:18:08
Speaker
He held the poison in his hand, but chose not to take it. And he said that there was a moment before the Americans arrived where the Japanese soldiers stationed in the village announced, soon the American army will get on the island, so be prepared to die.
00:18:23
Speaker
But when the Americans landed, the survivors who didn't die by suicide hid. And when they eventually surrendered to the Americans, they were shocked that instead of killing them, The Americans treated their wounds and fed them.
00:18:36
Speaker
So just days later, after the Americans landed Zamami, the American military landed in Okinawa. And this was on April 1st, 1945, marking the beginning of one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific.
00:18:51
Speaker
More than 200,000 people would die during this battle. And nearly half of those were Okinawan civilians. Many died from shelling and crossfire, but thousands also died by suicide due to the misled fear and propaganda that death was better than being captured.
00:19:08
Speaker
The Battle of Okinawa wasn't the only tragedy. Back in August of 1944, a ship called Tsushima Maru was torpedoed by a U.S. submarine while evacuating civilians from Okinawa to mainland Japan.
00:19:21
Speaker
More than 1,400 people died and those were children. which is incredibly sad. Yeah. The deaths left not just a physical mark on the island, but a spiritual one as well.
00:19:36
Speaker
Okinawans believe that the people who die violently, suddenly, or without proper rights can become restless and untethered and linger in the places that they die. And so when you think about what happened with World War two especially, there's a lot of people who died without proper rights. And so if the belief is that they linger untethered to those places and they become restless, you can see why many people believe that Okinawa is so haunted.
00:20:06
Speaker
And then a few places, like like specific places, Cape Maeda, during World War twoi many Okinawan civilians fled here to escape the U.S. military. Some civilians threw themselves off of the cliffside into the ocean to escape capture. And if you've watched any of the documentaries, there's one on on Netflix. I can't remember what the name of it is, but it's a very, very powerful World War II documentary where it's taken a lot of footage that they've remastered from World War war ii both in like the European theater and the Japanese theater.
00:20:39
Speaker
And they have footage of Okinawan civilians literally throwing themselves off of this cliff. And it's so sad. But the Cape Mehta is supposed to be one of the most haunted places on the island.
00:20:55
Speaker
Kadena Air Base itself was built on top of the former battlegrounds from World War II and a lot of Okinawan villages that were destroyed during the war. Additionally, there are neighborhoods in Kadena that were built upon ancient Okinawan tombs and probably...
00:21:14
Speaker
Like it's, there's probably even more that we don't even realize. And when housing was constructed on Kadena Air Base, the remains were excavated and the ground was blessed by Shinto priests, but that doesn't stop the the ghostly activity that many people experience in their homes. Like there's so many.
00:21:32
Speaker
So going into some of the spooky stories that are not just here on Kadena Air Base, but on the island as well. Building 2283 on Kadena Air Base is believed to be one of the most haunted houses in the U.S. military.
00:21:48
Speaker
It is now demolished, I believe, as of 2019. But prior to that, no one had lived there in a long time and the building was used only for storage. The story goes that an Air Force officer murdered his family before killing himself in the 1970s.
00:22:04
Speaker
next militaryary highri like awful yeah The next military family to live there soon began experiencing paranoia, uneasiness, and then supposedly the father of this family stabbed everyone.
00:22:21
Speaker
so Great. Right. Jesus. Did they die survive? I don't know. like And i don't know like I don't know if this part is just legend or if that actually happened. But there are rumors that both of the service members who attacked their families saw the ghost of a samurai warrior riding his horse through their living room.
00:22:43
Speaker
which honestly would make me feel insane as well. So right I don't know. But from that point on, from supposedly when the second – um and incident happened, the house was used only as a storage shed.
00:22:58
Speaker
And even though no one lived in the house for years, people who drove by or would walk by the house would hear sounds of children crying, strange laughter. And there was one report of a woman washing her hair in the house's sink. But like the houses, like, so for those of you who aren't familiar with military bases, like they're and like the houses are usually like locked up pretty tight if no one's loving them. Like no one's going to be in there like squatting in these houses.
00:23:27
Speaker
So obviously that was concerning seeing that. um There are also reports that the daycare that backed up to the house would experience odd occurrences as well.
00:23:39
Speaker
And children on the playground would throw toys from the daycare over the fence that separated the daycare from the abandoned house. And whenever the teachers would ask the children, like, what the hell, why are you throwing the toys over the fence? They would say that the children next door asked them to throw the toys over.
00:23:59
Speaker
And other daycare workers reported hearing a phone ring inside the abandoned house When there was no phone line attached to the home, they would see curtains opening, the house glowing, and there were even reports that the faucets in the home would turn on by themselves.
00:24:17
Speaker
So you know just a lot of crazy shit happening. And the fact that like it's just multiple people. many people have also asked why the military took 40-ish years to tear down building 2283. Yeah.
00:24:32
Speaker
And some people say it's because the workers who were tasked with the removal experienced headaches and hallucinations whenever they would go in to try and um like tear down the building.
00:24:43
Speaker
However, after living here on Kadena, I don't think that that was the case and that there was anything supernatural about the length of time it took for them to remove the house. It takes a really fucking long time to get buildings removed and renovated here.
00:24:57
Speaker
So that is probably why. It's probably just because it's a hurry up and wait again. Yeah. um So, you know, that's normal. milant Like that didn't that didn't concern me at all. But I could see why for people who aren't affiliated with the military, why are they with them? there's got to be something supernatural about that. I don't think there was.
00:25:18
Speaker
So um I've been to the location of where that home previously sat and the daycare is still there, ah like to this day. um But the house is not. And while we will never know the truth about some of this, across the street, there is this small hill with like very old like stones that have been placed like in the hill. like They've been there for a really long time.
00:25:41
Speaker
And- They say that that was ah shrine and that is why the samurai spirit is seen in that house and why like that whole area is like really charged.
00:25:54
Speaker
I don't know how true that is. i think I still have pictures of that. So I am going to upload those to social media um so that you guys can see them. But yeah. So anyway, moving on from there, we also have the Kadena Air Base cave at the Banyan Tree Golf Course.
00:26:12
Speaker
So on Kadena Air Base, there is an old field hospital at the site of what is now the golf course. The field hospital was maintained by the Japanese nurses during World War II. And when they heard that U.S. troops took the airfields on Okinawa in 1945, they all died by suicide in that cave.
00:26:33
Speaker
And it's said that this cave in the land nearby is haunted by the ghosts of the nurses who died there, which is... crazy, right? So I've also been to this cave and cave itself is very eerie. like you it's completely it's It's not like um like a naturally made cave. like It's a man-made cave situation, like a bunker thing.
00:26:58
Speaker
And so there's like bars and stuff. um So you can't go inside of it now, but like the whole cave itself is just kind of creepy and it is very off-putting and you have to kind of hike up to get there.
00:27:12
Speaker
But we didn't experience anything creepy, but I've heard that it, that whole area is supposed to be like super haunted. Then there's also, um as I mentioned earlier, Cape Maeda or Maeda Point.
00:27:26
Speaker
And this is known as a place where there's a prophet of doom and the, um, phenomenon of the Okinawan angry women.
00:27:38
Speaker
So, um, oh There is said to be a ghost of an elderly man walking around a tomb near the water of Cape Mehta. And many people who visit Cape Mehta today also report hearing crying and some divers report feeling a strange heaviness underwater.
00:27:54
Speaker
And there are reports of divers seeing ghosts in the water as well, which I'm sorry, i would pass away. I'm already afraid of deep water. You're going to pick ghosts in deep water as well? no Thank you.
00:28:07
Speaker
No. I just look not under the water. i don't have time for that. I don't know. There are also reports of ghosts of Okinawan women haunting Cape Mehta.
00:28:18
Speaker
So whenever they see these ghosts, they're dressed in World War II era Okinawan civilian clothing, and they apparently are known to harass men, especially American men in that area.
00:28:30
Speaker
or for people who visit at night. And then um if you are World War II history buff, you'll know about Hacksaw Ridge, and there's movies about this, and also known as Maeda Escarpment.
00:28:43
Speaker
It was the site of a very intense combat during the Battle of Okinawa, and American troops scaled the cliffs under fire to rescue wounded soldiers. People report the sounds of gunfire and they've also reported seeing the ghosts of soldiers and the feeling of a general like unease in that area, which I can imagine like all of that just energy there, seeing all of all of that fighting um has to be very intense.
00:29:13
Speaker
And then on Camp Hansen, so this is a bit north of where Kadena Air Base is. There is a gate. I don't think it's in use anymore. It's their old gate three.
00:29:25
Speaker
So many Marines who worked guarding gate three at Camp Hanson have reported seeing a Marine covered in blood, dressed in World War II era clothing, approach them and ask for a light.
00:29:37
Speaker
This was something that was reported multiple times to the point that Marines refused to stand guard at the gate because it was so haunted. And there's even video evidence of a ghostly apparition walking and running around that gate as well. Like, I'm not, yeah, it's crazy.
00:29:56
Speaker
We have the video linked in our show notes for you guys. It's a YouTube video. You have to watch it. It is fucking wild. more And then um there's also a gate three ghost at Kadena Air Base.
00:30:08
Speaker
Yeah. And this gate is still in use today, but many people report seeing a woman dressed in white who flags down cars, um like, for a ride. Like, so oftentimes, like, taxi cabs and whatnot.
00:30:22
Speaker
And then whenever the cars will pull over to give her a ride, she vanishes. So. I wonder what it is about, like, gate threes. Right. Yeah. Like, why the third gate?
00:30:34
Speaker
Mm-hmm. And then there is an author named Jane A. Hitchcock who lived in Okinawa as a military spouse from 1992 to 1995. five And she wrote multiple books about her time on the island. I think she wrote like five books.
00:30:50
Speaker
Oh my gosh. A bunch of shit must have happened because five books for three years. Five books. Yeah. That's a lot. That's lot. While she was living in Okinawa, she reported that her home was haunted by a World War II era marine soldier who was named Mike.
00:31:06
Speaker
She reportedly first saw a puddle in her kitchen like that just would appear and had no like clear reason as to why it was happening. like They couldn't what going on. And then mixed with like other things that were happening in the house...
00:31:21
Speaker
she ended up like going to see a psychic and the psychic was like, oh yeah, this is a ghost. And the ghost's name is Mike and whatever, whatever. So while she was living in the house, the ghost would throw things at her husband,
00:31:35
Speaker
which I thought was hilarious. And at one point she decided to host like a seance in her home. And mike um appeared and he whispered boo into one of the ears of like the seance participants. And I'm sorry, but if somebody came up to me and whispered boo in my ear, we're fighting. Like those are fighting words.
00:32:03
Speaker
um, that sounds wild. I need to check out some of her books. I did not obviously read any of her books for this episode, but, um, Yeah. Sounds like they would be pretty interesting. I'm curious know.
00:32:16
Speaker
And then additionally, there is a Kadena Air Base haunted clearing. I'm not sure where this is, but apparently somewhere on the base, there is a known haunted grassy area that's located in a secure area. So it's not like a place where anybody would just stumble upon. It's probably like enclosed and in Maybe like somewhere where like they blow up shit. I don't know. But there's a secure area somewhere on the base where normal civilians are not allowed to go. And it's supposedly incredibly haunted.
00:32:52
Speaker
And so one night while on patrol, a security forces, which is kind of like our... police officers, a guard decided to see if the area was really as haunted as the rumors say.
00:33:03
Speaker
So he parked nearby and waited and he was just like watching the area and he reportedly saw an entire unit of Japanese troops marching toward his car.
00:33:14
Speaker
I would share. I'm sorry. Yeah. And I was reading- We're not talking one ghost. We're talking- Yeah. An entire unit. Yeah. Like that reminded me so much of like Pirates of the Caribbean whenever the like skeletons like are coming yeah like in the water.
00:33:29
Speaker
That's what that reminded me of. And I'm just like, that sounds awful. And apparently too, like he, whenever he saw them, he was trying to get away and like his car like would not cooperate.
00:33:42
Speaker
And so was freaking out and he ended up having to like drive through like the unit of Japanese and soldiers, like their ghosts. And I'm like, I would die on the spot. Like there's no way. There's no.
00:33:55
Speaker
There's no way. There's no way. Yeah. And. Kadena Air Base and just Okinawa in general is so haunted that there's even a Facebook group on like, well on Facebook, there's a Facebook group where residents of not just Kadena, but all of the other bases here talk about their ghostly experiences while living here. Like there are so many.
00:34:20
Speaker
is wild. And so, I mean, I just like randomly, you know how like if you're talking, your phone picks up like things that you're saying. And so like your algorithms will start doing that.
00:34:33
Speaker
There's been times that you and I have talked about shit that like you've been experiencing and then I'll get on TikTok and scroll. And all of a sudden I have all these like videos of like Marines or just military members in their dorms and like shit happening, like doors just opening. Like, yeah yeah, there's so many, like, just you can look up anything on like all the hauntings on any of the apps, you can see something.
00:35:00
Speaker
and Yes, it is so like, and everybody knows about and everybody talks about it, like to the point where um I was in a meeting yesterday um a work meeting and it was like, you know, nothing, like nothing about paranormal, nothing. Like we were talking, there was like different stakeholders at this meeting to talk about like prevention and wellness and things that we're seeing like within our units and whatnot.
00:35:23
Speaker
a chaplain, a Navy chaplain. He is a captain in the Navy, which is like a big deal, right? Yeah. He was like, you know, we got to the end of the meeting and everyone's like, oh, does anyone have any safe rounds? And he was like, there's an elephant in the room when it comes to Okinawa that I feel like we need to discuss.
00:35:41
Speaker
And that is the supernatural. And he, this Navy fucking chaplain yeah this meeting started talking about how they're We need to be making sure that we are telling people that if you see something or hear something on this base, that is common and you're not going crazy. yeah And like we were talking about how depending on how you were raised and depending on you know what you believed in from childhood, you may come out here and have a complete crisis of faith, I guess.
00:36:22
Speaker
Because you start experiencing shit and this is not what you thought you believed in. So you assume it's crazy. so and he's just like Because what else could it be? Right. Yeah. So it's like the amount of people that I've had to counsel that have come here and they're like, I don't know what's going on, but XYZ is happening and I've seen this and I don't know what to do.
00:36:45
Speaker
yeah This needs to be addressed. And I'm just like the this is wild. like Yeah. It's rare that somebody will like openly, e not even just like anyone either, a high-ranking officer of chaplain.
00:37:03
Speaker
Yes. yeah That's wild. Yeah. It is so incredibly wild. And like after that, I was talking with some of the other people who were present at the meeting and our SARC. He was just like, yeah, my building He's where he works is on a different location called Futeman. It's like the Marine, like air,
00:37:26
Speaker
wing like yeah the helicopters and shit take off um here on the island and he was saying that like his building is so haunted that people don't even want to go to the bathroom if they're ah at work at night by themselves because they hear the sound of like a little girl laughing and in the bathroom which would fucking send me running honestly like that sounds insane but honestly i know it's so weird but like kid voices are worse yeah I would rather it be a full grown ass adult voice. Yeah. Kid voices are the worst if it's a ghost. But, you couldn't leave this up. There's so many more. There's so many more. I had to pick and choose what things I was putting in this because if not this, just my part of the episode would be like two hours long.
00:38:14
Speaker
um But there's even like the the barracks, the dorm rooms, like you were saying, like there are so many reports of haunted experiences, like just all of the things happening.
00:38:26
Speaker
But I could not end of this episode, end my part of the episode, without talking about my own personal experiences. And I've only included a few. so But when we... like I have experienced a lot of weird things since we've been stationed here in Okinawa.
00:38:41
Speaker
And so like the first one that I experienced is like in our TLF, um we had... The way the TLF was set up, but so TLF is like a temporary lodging facility and it's basically like a hotel, but more like a motel where you have like a kitchenette, you have like a dining room table, you have full bathrooms, things like that.
00:39:03
Speaker
And the entrance to our hotel room um was to like the side of the kitchen. So like if I'm in the kitchen and I'm cooking, my back is to the door.
00:39:15
Speaker
So I was cooking, I remember, and usually whenever the cleaners come around, they don't knock very loudly. It's a very low knock and then they open the door and then it always scares the shit out of me because then I turn around and there's a cleaner in my house or at my hotel.
00:39:33
Speaker
And then they are like upset because they scared me. And I'm like, oh no, no, no. It's literally, I'm the problem. Like it's not you, it's me. And so um I'm cooking chicken and I like could sense that somebody was behind me.
00:39:46
Speaker
Kids are like not in the the room with me or anything. So I turn around expecting it to be the cleaner. And no, there's a like a Japanese man just standing in the corner. And I could see what he was wearing. Like he was wearing like a, like a white tank top and like these traditional, like, I don't know if you would call them like Japanese or Okinawan style, like flowy type pants.
00:40:09
Speaker
and flip flops and he's just like standing in the corner and I'm like, okay, cool. Like this is- Love this. I love this. Yeah. And it seemed like he was kind of one, like curious about what I was doing.
00:40:21
Speaker
um Probably he's like, you're burning this fucking chicken, which it probably was. um So that was the first experience that happened to me when we first moved here and it was just, it was wild. But when we first moved into our home,
00:40:35
Speaker
we like I would see like this tall like spirit like and he was every time I would see him like he was just very dark like very like veiled in shadow very tall but very dark and um i would see him like if I was in the kitchen we have a galley style kitchen and so at one end of the kitchen there's our our living room and I would see him while I would be in the kitchen walking from one end of our living room to the other And i would be home by myself, like, and I would see this and it would freak me out.
00:41:08
Speaker
And then there was one time where i was putting, like, loading dishes into the dishwasher and I had my phone set up. um And so I was, like, standing at the dishwasher on an angle, like, watching TikToks and loading the dishwasher.
00:41:24
Speaker
And I could feel somebody standing over my shoulder watching. the TikTok with me. And I just assumed it was my husband. And so like the video was funny and I started laughing and I turned around and there's no one there.
00:41:36
Speaker
And I'm like, what the hell? And so like I go and see, cause I thought my husband was downstairs with me. He was upstairs in the shower. Like he wasn't even downstairs. No one was downstairs. Just me and my ghost.
00:41:48
Speaker
ah So yeah. you know So that's happened. We've heard like my daughter will hear people walking up and down the stairs at night, which really freak her out. And so now she has to sleep with like like music on at night so that she can go to sleep because she kept hearing people walking up and down the stairs.
00:42:05
Speaker
And then we've also, we had this really weird experience, both me and my neighbor, where like we live in these homes that are like, there's four homes in a unit and they're basically townhouses. So we're all connected.
00:42:19
Speaker
And one night. And of course this happened when Mike is not here and her husband wasn't here either. So it was just us. We're sleeping and like at 1030 at night, I kept hearing this banging and I'm like, Emily, is that you? And she's just like, no, I don't know what that sound is And I'm just like, well, maybe it's my neighbor who i was really, really close to. I messaged her and I was like, Hey,
00:42:43
Speaker
is everything okay over there? And she's just like, I was about to message you the same thing. Like, what is Emily doing in her room? And I'm like, it's not Emily. And she's just like, well, it's not like my kids either. We just, it was like, it went on for maybe 20 to 30 minutes. It sounded like somebody was in the walls banging in the walls. ah And we still, to this day have no clue what it was.
00:43:05
Speaker
Yeah. But it sounded like, I mean, it was really wild. Like it And there was nobody living to my other side of me. But even if there was, it's not like my neighbor on the other side of me would have heard it if they were running on their walls. You know what I mean? So it was it was real it was really weird and very spooky. And then um there was one incident that I still don't even understand what the fuck this was. But I was meeting my friend for a tattoo appointment. We were going together to get a friendship tattoos.
00:43:39
Speaker
And as I was leaving, I walk from my bedroom into the hallway and on the corner where my bedroom meets another door in the hallway, I look up and I can just see this like spider fucking creature, this massive spider creature, but it had like a human head.
00:44:00
Speaker
Ew. and No. No. When I saw it, I was like, immediately I was like, okay, that's just spider creature. I don't know. Like, I didn't even think anything of it. And then I like got halfway down the stairs and I'm like, what the fuck?
00:44:12
Speaker
Like I did, had to do a double take. Like, what did I, why am I okay with seeing that? What the fuck was that? What the fuck was it? Second of all why am i so like, all right. Yeah. And we're just gonna keep going.
00:44:25
Speaker
And so... I get out to the car because I was spooked. my friend is the one, like she's picking me up. And um I was like, I have to tell you something that happened. Like, I'm so freaked out about this and I don't know, like you're going to think it crazy.
00:44:39
Speaker
And I was like, I saw this weird creature in my house and i like, it's so wild. And my friend was like, oh, was it like a spider with like a human head? And I'm like, are you joking?
00:44:55
Speaker
What? And she'd seen it on in her stairwell in her house. Stop So she had asked, um she had ah another tattoo artist friend who um was like, I guess part Okinawan or something. And she had asked them, like this had happened to her like a year before.
00:45:14
Speaker
And so she had asked them like, what the fuck is that? And they're like, oh, it's like, it's, it's some spirit like Okinawan, like, or Japanese cultural, like, I don't cryptid thing.
00:45:27
Speaker
that spirit that people will sometimes see in their homes. And no I'm just like, don't know I like that. Like that's creepy. thank you um But yeah, so that happened. And of course my husband's like, you're just making this up. And I'm like, I swear to God, even if I was, Seanette saw the same goddamn thing.
00:45:49
Speaker
Like what do you mean? So yeah. Very wild. And then, you know, there's this weird unsolved mystery here on Kadena Air Base, still unsolved, where this woman, she was a military spouse, Air Force spouse. She went missing.
00:46:06
Speaker
No one knows what happened to her. This happened in the early 2000s. Like, she just disappeared one night. And the running theory that everyone has is that her husband definitely had something to do with it, but no charges have been brought to him. but They still haven't found any any remains of her, like on the Island, they have no clue what happened to her.
00:46:28
Speaker
But when we first moved here on my way to work, I was constantly being pulled to this specific church. I don't know why i am not Christian, but like every time I drive down this road, I would see the sign to this church and I would immediately in my eyes was would go straight to that church, that church name. Everywhere I would go, i would look up at that a, and it's like,
00:46:53
Speaker
you know, it's not like there are signs everywhere, but it just so happened. Like I would be at a stop sign and or a stoplight. And I would look over at like advertisements, like on the like billboards. And of course it would be an advertisement for that church. Like I kept seeing this fucking church and I did not understand why.
00:47:07
Speaker
And so one day i came across, cause I'd never heard of this story before. I came across a podcast episode talking about this missing case. And so I was listening to this podcast episode talking about her story and the The spouse's name, her name was Kelly Cribs Abad.
00:47:24
Speaker
And so I was listening to it and i'm just like, wow, that's crazy. And they mentioned like the family was really involved in this church. And in my head immediately I was like, it's that church. They said the name of the church. It is the same church.
00:47:37
Speaker
And I'm like, that's wild. Yeah. And so I'm okay, crazy. And then like, so I'm just like, that's insane. And the whole time listening to this podcast, like I keep seeing this image of this female in my mind. She has blonde hair. I could see exactly what she looked like.
00:47:55
Speaker
like, after I was done listening to the podcast, I'm like, I'm going to go look her up and see if there's any updates or anything. i look her up. looks exactly like the same person I pictured in my mind. Like, I feel like I know her and I don't know why yeah I've never met this woman.
00:48:09
Speaker
i even like looked up where she was from to be like, did I meet this girl? Like, I know this girl. I don't know girl, but I keep like, I can see exactly what she looks like. and like in my head as like, I'm, you know, listening to this podcast, like nobody knows what happened, but like in my mind, I can just like see Like something has something to with stairs.
00:48:34
Speaker
And I feel like maybe she was thrown down the stairs. Something happened with stairs, but I will never know because this yeah has never been solved. But yeah, her mom though, like after I listened to that podcast episode, her mom is still part of the Facebook communities for this base.
00:48:50
Speaker
And every couple of years or maybe a year, i don't know how often she does it. She will post like her daughter's missing persons poster and be like, reminder, she's still missing.
00:49:01
Speaker
Literally, like, the day after I listened to that podcast, her mom posted in the Facebook groups letting everybody know, like, her daughter's still missing. And I'm like, this is wild. That is Like, just insane stuff.
00:49:15
Speaker
um Just, yeah. it's There's more to the story, but, like, I don't want to get too far into the weeds, but. Yeah. Yeah. Just. That is insane.
Haunted Stories: Fort Leavenworth
00:49:28
Speaker
Yeah, so there's so much more to Okinawa, haunted-wise especially, but that is just a little taste for you guys of haunted Okinawa.
00:49:39
Speaker
Okay, so now we are going to take a little trip over to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. let me just tell you, if spooky military destinations are your thing,
00:49:56
Speaker
Definitely look this up because I had to like pick and choose what I was going to include because there is so much surrounding this space. It was insane. The amount of just even like on the army's official website, there were articles that a about hauntings so that's wild isn't that where the maximum security prison is too is that fourth okay there's like four prison four or five prison systems on this space so just a little background um for no established in 1827 fort leavenworth is one of the oldest active military installations in the united states
00:50:39
Speaker
um It's been nicknamed the post that opened the West, the best hometown in the army. um It's known to be the oldest continuously active fort west of the Appalachian Mountains.
00:50:53
Speaker
And it's also considered one of the most haunted military installations in America. It was founded by Colonel Henry Leavenworth on the bluffs of the Missouri River, and it was originally intended, apparently, to help maintain peace among indigenous tribes as settlers or red colonizers moved westward.
00:51:17
Speaker
Tribes that originally inhabited the area included the Kansa, the Osagi, and the Delaware. In 1854, Fort Leavenworth became known as the first city of Kansas, and It served as a major pass-through point during the 1840s for travelers on the Oregon and Santa Fe trails. In 1864, a group that was known as the Sisters of Charity opened St. John's Hospital, and later in 1923, they founded St. Mary's College, which is now the University of St. Mary's.
00:51:52
Speaker
In 1863, the Kansas legislature approved the creation of the Kansas State Penitentiary. Construction began in 1864, but Civil War-related financial struggles delayed the completion.
00:52:08
Speaker
The prison was finally occupied in 1868. In 1906, the first cell house of the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary was opened, and notorious inmates included Carl Panzram, who was a serial killer.
00:52:24
Speaker
Machine Gun Kelly, not the rapper. Oh, I was like, what?
00:52:32
Speaker
Yeah, not the rapper, no.
00:52:36
Speaker
Robert Stroud, who was better known as the Birdman of Alcatraz. Anthony Tony Dux Carello, who was a high-ranking member of the Luchesi crime family.
00:52:47
Speaker
Tom Pendergast, who was a powerful Kansas City political boss. George Bugs Moran, who was the rival of al Capone and survivor of the St. valentine saint Valentine's Day Massacre.
00:53:01
Speaker
John Sonny Franzisi, who was a Colombo crime family underboss known for his longevity and criminal resume. James Earl Ray, who was the convicted assassin of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
00:53:16
Speaker
um James Joseph Whitey Boulder Jr., who was a Boston mob boss, a fugitive, and an FBI informant. And Michael Vick, the NFL quarterback that was convicted of operating an illegal dogfighting ring because he's trash.
00:53:34
Speaker
Wow. What a collection of people. I know. I was like, oh my God, it just kept going. um The prison itself spans across the United States Federal Penitentiary, the United States Disciplinary Barracks, the Lansing Correctional Facility, Joint Regional Correctional Facility, which is often just called JRCF, and the Old United States Disciplinary Barracks.
00:54:03
Speaker
Today, Fort Leavenworth remains an active and vital installation in the U.S. Army. The current population includes
00:54:13
Speaker
2,892 active duty service members, 1,130 permanent party students, um and 5,175 civilian employees.
00:54:24
Speaker
The installation supports the U.S. Army's training and doctrine command known as TRADOC, and TRADOC oversees the development of the Army's future leaders, strategies, and training systems.
00:54:36
Speaker
Fort Leavenworth is home to the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center known as the CAC, And their mission includes leader development, collective training, and oversight of the Army's doctrine and battle command systems.
00:54:49
Speaker
And yes, it is still the active site of the military corrections complex that I just discussed. But now we're going get to the good stuff and talk about all the spooky things surrounding this location. Ooh.
00:55:01
Speaker
So... ah Not all of them. Let's correct that. Not all of them because there were way too many. And I've included quite a few. But as I mentioned earlier, Fort Leavenworth has a reputation as one of the most haunted military installations in the United States.
00:55:18
Speaker
So digging up spooky material, just it wasn't exactly difficult. um It was harder to pick and choose what I was going to include. So yeah. From YouTube videos to Reddit threads and articles on the official US Army website, ghost stories are everywhere.
00:55:34
Speaker
But for today's episode, I'm just going to cover a handful again, just some of the more like well-known and chilling tales. So buckle up, it's about to get spooky. The first one we're going to talk about 14 Sumner Place.
00:55:50
Speaker
um This particular house is also known as the Rookery, and it's one of five well-known haunted houses at Fort Leavenworth. And one family shared a very detailed account of their time at this house.
00:56:05
Speaker
So the Munoz family moved into 14 Sumner Place, um which is part of the rookery, which along with 12 Sumner is one of the oldest homes in Kansas. It was built in 1827, making it 198 years old today.
00:56:21
Speaker
And the home's foundation includes hand-hewn logs from trees that are estimated to have grown during Revolutionary War era, which I thought was insane. So pretty quickly, this family noticed some early paranormal activity where objects would vanish, including a cell phone, a TV remote, and a wireless phone. And these all happened at the same time.
00:56:45
Speaker
Like all on the same day, this ghost was like, give me all your things. And so they were like looking for them, can't find them anywhere. They leave and go to dinner and they come back and all three items were found stacked neatly inside of a purse.
00:57:01
Speaker
And like without explanation. And where this really got their attention was that Mr. Munoz looked through the purse when like the items first went missing and they weren't there, but they came home and all three of those items were just stacked nice and neatly inside the purse.
00:57:18
Speaker
The family frequently experiences footsteps going upstairs, even when no one is there, sounds of furniture moving, doors opening and locking on their own and lights turning off by themselves.
00:57:31
Speaker
The basement light would repeatedly turn itself back on after they turned it off like multiple times. There were several incidents surrounding their pets and their cats especially reacted strongly to this presence.
00:57:45
Speaker
One cat was reportedly pinned down at the top of the stairs and it had all of its fur standing up except for they could see where a hand-sized like print was holding the cat down at the top of the stairs.
00:57:58
Speaker
Like it was like in indented into the fur. So um their pets were often mysteriously just let outside when no one was home, like all the time. There would be loud banging noises that occurred when one of the cats tried to sleep on the bed.
00:58:13
Speaker
Like every time it was like, I'm going to take a nap, like loud banging. um So the wife, Mrs. Ann Munoz, said that she saw an apparition of a man with a somewhat pointy face.
00:58:26
Speaker
salt and pepper hair, and a mustache in her furnace room. She assumed that he was part of a scheduled maintenance crew, but like no one on the crew matched that description.
00:58:38
Speaker
And later, she was like flipping through this book, and she recognized him in a photo in the book as Major Edmund Ogden, who was a quartermaster from the mid-1800s.
00:58:49
Speaker
So he was just hanging out. doing his thing and she's like flipping the through the book and she's like oh my god i would die ah
00:59:01
Speaker
there's also this running family joke with with the muñoz family that the ghost doesn't tolerate kids being like quote-unquote mouthy to mom And so where this came from is there are several incidents, but one son's track shoes vanished after he had an argument with his mom and they were found days later in the furnace room in a corner.
00:59:25
Speaker
Another lost his church boots. Mid-argument, he apologized to the ghost and then they mysteriously reappeared under the dining room table where he had already looked for them and they weren't there.
00:59:38
Speaker
um And then the oldest son, Ian, actually mocked the ghost. Like his mom basically is like, hey, we have this ghost and is like telling him the stories. He laughs at her, mocks the ghost, and he wakes up to find that his debit card was missing from his wallet and it has still never been found.
00:59:59
Speaker
um Over the years, residents have reported sleepless nights caused by noisy apparitions. Spirits include an overly attentive old woman, bushy-haired old man, and an angry girl.
01:00:12
Speaker
Each seems to have their own unsettling agenda, making peaceful sleep a challenge for the living. Some speculate the old woman might be Mary Pinckney Hardy MacArthur, which is a mouthful.
01:00:25
Speaker
um But she was General Douglas MacArthur's mother who once lived in the house. For those interested, you can actually visit this particular location as part of a haunted tour.
01:00:37
Speaker
The Rookery was a stop on the annual haunted walking tour that's hosted by the Friends of the Frontier Army Museum. And Anne Munoz has even welcomed a storyteller into her furnace room as part of the experience as well.
01:00:55
Speaker
The next one is 18 Sumner Place. So in the nineteen seventy s families living on Sumner Place reported a friendly female apparition, a middle-aged woman in a woolen skirt who lived in the attic, and she was often seen smiling from the window.
01:01:15
Speaker
She was known to help with chores and watch over children, and one night she was even seen washing the dishes at the kitchen sink. A child said that she read him a bedtime story and this like random book, it was just just this mysterious book appeared in his room that like his parents were like, we did not buy him this.
01:01:35
Speaker
We don't know where it came from. um And though gentle with kids, she disliked babysitters and grandmothers, sometimes pushing them out of the nursery or like undoing their efforts for the day.
01:01:49
Speaker
In 1975, a frightened family requested an exorcism and the ghost reportedly just up and moved next door to 20-some near place and started her antics over there.
01:02:01
Speaker
And though never seen there, residents have heard footsteps, um rattling doorknobs, and pets refuse to go upstairs. Which, okay, if a ghost is going to do my dishes, feel free to come on over.

The next one is 605 McClellan. And this is part of the McClellan officers quarters. So one night, basically this back door of this house flies open and then it slams shut and it's followed by heavy footsteps racing up the stairs and no one was there. Like they couldn't see anyone.
01:02:39
Speaker
um Another time while sitting by the fire, The family saw the apparition of a mustached man with a goatee appear like in the flames. And when the fire died, his face appeared on the back wall of the fireplace.
01:02:53
Speaker
The home was filled with crashing sounds, stomping, footsteps, and like blasts of icy cold air throughout. A new family moves in in nineteen eighty in the nineteen eighty s and basically there's new activity.
01:03:09
Speaker
So the new homeowner once walked into the bathroom to find a tall, thin man shaving with an old-fashioned razor and using his shaving cream, apparently. He's like, let me just borrow this. I got to shave my face. Thanks.
01:03:22
Speaker
ah The same apparition later appeared in a military uniform, um staring silently at the daughter before walking through her closet, which had once been a hallway to the master bedroom.
01:03:34
Speaker
After a period of quiet, banging and scratching noises returned, and this time it was from an unoccupied third floor, the family installed a gate to block access and paranormal activity started.
01:03:48
Speaker
As if like the entity was content being left alone upstairs. He's like finally peace and quiet.
01:03:57
Speaker
And then the next one is 632 Thomas Avenue. So this house was actually built on the former site of St. Ignatius Chapel where a priest had burned to death.
01:04:12
Speaker
So there was a priest that was known as Father Fred who died in a fire that burned down the original Ignatius Chapel. And after a new house was built on the same spot, his apparition began appearing most often in the fireplace, the kitchen, and like other areas of the home. But he believed to still, it was believed that he still saw the church as it once was and just like simply went about his priestly duties, unaware that the church was no longer there.
01:04:47
Speaker
And then just some other notable stories here. The apparition of an angry and vengeful woman has been seen like in multiple locations on the base, but she was believed to be Mrs. Sheridan, who was the wife of General Philip Sheridan.
01:05:04
Speaker
And she said to like make life a living hell for anyone that comes across her. And the story goes that she was actually in the process of dying. She was really sick and she was dying. And General Sheridan could not be bothered.
01:05:18
Speaker
He just left her to go to Chicago on business. He's like, it's been nice knowing you. see you later. Sounds like she's haunting the wrong person. Like you're taking her on the wrong person. Literally.
01:05:31
Speaker
and then. There's also this group of female spirits that are seen that still like host tea parties in the parlor of the chief of staff's quarters, which I think is so cute. Just imagine they're just having a little ghostly tea party. Precious.
01:05:46
Speaker
um Harmonicas are said to often be heard being played like in multiple areas of the base just randomly, but there's like no one there. Many people have reported seeing multiple apparitions of soldiers riding horses through the old infantry barracks.
01:06:03
Speaker
And there was this woman who was named Catherine, and she's seen dressed in a calico dress um and a black shawl. um often like walking among the tombstones of the National Cemetery and the golf course.
01:06:18
Speaker
Catherine's children went missing in the year of 1880 when they were sent out to find firewood and they never returned. Catherine spent many days wandering the area with a lantern searching for her children. And it seems that like she does this still in death.
01:06:35
Speaker
Some have reported even hearing her like calling to her children, which is so sad. That is really sad. Yeah. So that is Fort Leavenworth. And there is so much more. So if this is something that really piques your interest, just do a quick Google search because there are videos, there are articles, there are blogs, there are Reddit threads. Like the amount of activity that has happened on the space is wild.
01:07:06
Speaker
Yeah. So. But that's all I got. it's like a we need to go on girls trip there. Right? And we have access because, you know, like they do tours and you can go like not as a military member. You can go to like the museum and there's like some famous statues and stuff around the base that you can do.
01:07:30
Speaker
but um some of these things are not accessible to just the general public, but it would be kind of cool to go. Yeah. We'll have to go. I've never really wanted to take a trip to Kansas, but. Right. Yeah.
01:07:43
Speaker
But. ah For some ghosts, maybe. For some ghosts. My friend, my really good friend Lauren lives there. we could go see her too. And then have some fried chicken.
01:07:55
Speaker
There's a really good fried chicken place she took me to when I went out to visit her there. Cannot for the life of me remember what it is called, but it's delicious. Man. Some good fried chicken. I love when I don't have to make it and it's really good.
01:08:09
Speaker
Yeah. I hate making fried chicken. It's the worst. and who Me too. But yeah. So that is our spooky welcome back episode. Right. A military edition episode.
