Hey friend, welcome back to Oh, There You Are! Today, we’re having a heart-to-heart about something we all need to hear: giving yourself permission to be exactly where you are right now.

Too often, we feel like we should be further along, doing more, achieving faster. But what if the real magic happens when we stop forcing and start allowing? What if meeting yourself where you are is the key to unlocking your next level?

In this episode, we’re diving into:

✨ Why self-acceptance is the starting point, not the finish line.
✨ The dangers of comparison and unrealistic expectations.
✨ How to embrace growth without feeling overwhelmed or rushed.
✨ The power of small, intentional steps toward the life you want.
✨ A simple mindset shift that will help you feel more at peace in your journey.

Wherever you are right now—it’s okay. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to move at someone else’s pace. You just have to keep showing up.

So, take a deep breath, meet yourself with kindness, and let’s talk about what it really means to trust your timing.

Speaker
Hey friend, welcome back to, oh, there you are. I'm so glad you're here today. I wanted to circle back around and bring some more attention to, you know, where I left off back in episode 10. And we were talking about loving ourselves, right? Well, now I want to take it a little deeper. Okay,

Avoiding Comparisons and Starting Small

00:01:37
Speaker
and I want you to hear this. It's something I think so many of us need to hear. It's the importance of meeting yourself where you are. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, pressured to be perfect, or stuck
00:01:51
Speaker
comparing yourself to the life that you used to be, okay? This

Breaking the Cycle of Self-Criticism

00:01:56
Speaker
episode's for you. Let's be real for a second. Do you ever find yourself saying things like, I used to lose weight so much faster, or I used to have so much more time for myself? Or maybe you've caught yourself thinking about all the things you want to change, but feel like it's totally impossible.
00:02:18
Speaker
Like the weight of it is, it's just way too heavy. It's the cycle of wanting to change, talking about change, and then beating yourself up for not doing it. If that resonates with you, you're not alone. You're not alone. You're not alone. Like we were just talking about this in a friends group. So friends, I love you. Thank you for inspiring me. This episode's for you. What I've learned is that we need to meet ourselves where we are.
00:02:47
Speaker
We need to stop pressuring ourselves to be perfect and stop measuring ourselves against who we used to be. Life changes

Taking Small Steps Toward Goals

00:02:55
Speaker
and so do we, so it's okay. For example, if you want to start exercising, but you're struggling to find the time or the energy, start small. Maybe it's just 10 minutes of walking each day. That's it. Then as you build up the habit, add five more minutes each week.
00:03:15
Speaker
over time, those small steps add up. And that's what it, it's just amazing that you see yourself follow through all of this, right? It helps build your confidence and then it motivates you to do more. You'll start to feel the shift and it will, it will help you feel so much lighter. Dare I say, even exciting. But here's the thing. We've got to stop comparing our journey to someone else's. Yes, it's okay to draw inspiration from others.
00:03:45
Speaker
But don't you dare belittle your progress just because someone else's results are coming faster. Your journey

The Power of Positive Thinking

00:03:52
Speaker
is yours. Own it. One thing I always recommend is writing down your goals and then reevaluating them often. Be honest with yourself about the effort you're putting in, but also give yourself grace. Progress isn't linear and it's okay if it's messy. What matters is you're trying.
00:04:15
Speaker
I've also been learning about the power of our thoughts and how we speak to ourselves. I mean, our thoughts literally shape our reality. Here's a small example. The other day I saw that the weather forecast was calling for a low of negative one degrees. My first thought was, oh my gosh, why? But then within seconds I reframed it.
00:04:39
Speaker
I told my coworker, you know what? The cold temps kill germs, and that keeps people healthier. i mean I work in

Challenging Societal Pressures on Self-Worth

00:04:48
Speaker
the emergency room as a case manager. I see people coming in sick all the time with so many icky germs, so if we can take the cold weather to help you know kill them off, then the germs now, guys, not the patience. Then, you know, that that, you know, perspective, it matters. ah And now, um you know, I want to share something incredibly powerful, you know, that I came across, I was scrolling through Instagram, and I found some words from Kathleen Cameron. She likes to call herself KCB. And they hit straight to my heart.
00:05:27
Speaker
So I want to read this to you. Her words shared, I fight the urge to try and lose weight and do it faster every day. When I see people post pictures of their before and afters with a caption saying how many pounds they lost in a short amount of time, I hear the message get skinny and do it fast. When I go into a store to try on clothes and they don't have single size above 12, I hear the message,
00:05:56
Speaker
get skinny so you can wear these clothes. Then I open Instagram to buy some wellness products and every model using the supplements is size two. I'm hearing the message, take this and get thin just like them too. Our children hear the same message. So I'd love to share a new one for all of us. You are beautiful in the body you are in right now. You do not need to change it one tiny bit to be any more worthy to be accepted, to be successful, or to be loved. You are a beautiful spirit, the essence of God filling up your beautiful vessel with love and light. The world lied to you about its appearance and mattering.
00:06:44
Speaker
that big is bad, too skinny is bad, cellulite and rolls and wrinkles are bad. You aren't bad. Simply God's beauty made visible. Heal the wounds and you will find your peace. The peace isn't found in weight loss. It's in

Using Inspiration, Not Comparison

00:07:01
Speaker
remembering who you are and what you really are and connecting to the wholeness of it.
00:07:07
Speaker
When I choose to be healthy and love my body, my body started to appear in a healthy manner with no goal to shrink myself, but to expand my capacity for more health. This is the difference. Isn't that just beautiful? I'm telling you guys, when I read all of that, I just said, yes, yes, yes.
00:07:32
Speaker
The world needs to hear this. My friends, you need to hear this. It's just so fricking feeling, feeling, freeing, freeing. Oh, Kathleen's message, KBC, your message, it reminds us that it's not about shrinking ourselves or conforming to society pressures, but about expanding our love for ourselves, aligning with health in a way that feels right to us, right? It's about reconnecting to who we truly are.
00:08:01
Speaker
And you know what? This applies to more than just body image. Let's say you want to start a business. Pursue a passion or step in something new. What's usually stopping you? It's those limiting beliefs and those lies that we tell ourselves. I'm not good enough. I don't know how to do that. What if I fail? But here's the thing. You can learn. You can grow. You can succeed.
00:08:29
Speaker
You can learn from others, watch what they're doing, take notes, and put what you've learned into action. Their success is proof of what is possible, but your journey, it'll be uniquely yours. You

Commit to Self-Acceptance

00:08:43
Speaker
get to write your own story. I mean, that's just, their success is proof that it's possible. Mm, sink it in, let it soak it. I will leave you with a challenge today.
00:08:58
Speaker
Take a moment to pause and reflect what's one small step you can take this week to meet yourself where you are. Maybe it's starting a new habit, speaking kinder to yourself, or simply acknowledging how far you've come. what is Whatever it is, write it down, commit to it, and give yourself grace in the process. And friend, I'll leave you with this reminder. You are enough.
00:09:28
Speaker
