Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome back. It's the Global Sports Podcast Network's daily English Premier League podcast and it's forecast Friday. I'm Marcus Ramthalt and I'm joined by Louis.
00:00:19
Louie Easton
Hello, good to be here once again.
00:00:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes. What could possibly go wrong when you put two Liverpool fans on the general English Premier League podcast? We're looking forward to match day 10 after what I thought was a bit of a weird and boring match day six, apart from a match day nine, sorry, apart from all the last minute goals.
00:00:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we're going to look ahead to the weekend's fixtures, all 20 teams in action. And as it's coming up to the end of October, it is the end of October. We're going to look at our favourite players and managers of the month as well.
00:00:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, Louis, let's have a look at it. Match day 10, what fixtures really stick out to you coming into this season?
00:00:57
Louie Easton
So straight away, this would have been a huge game last season. This season they haven't been as good, but they are at home. Newcastle are home against Arsenal, making a long, long trip from north London up to almost the borough of Scotland, northeast.
00:01:15
Louie Easton
um and it's the 12.30 kick-off so that will be a tough one for Arsenal. They had an exhausting week because they played midweek football and ah they had Liverpool at home with a tough thought to all draw for both teams. Saliba is back ah but I don't think we will be seeing Gabrielle.
00:01:41
Louie Easton
did have a bit of a knee problem coming off, so it might be a tough one for for Arsenal you never know.
00:01:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's about time Newcastle's luck changed, isn't it? I mean, it's not so long ago, Eddie Howe's name was being thrown in as the first choice for the England manager, despite Newcastle just not really inspiring much at the moment. They seem to kind of be stopping and starting and not quite getting over the line against Chelsea. They showed some glimpses of what they were capable of before, and I feel something's got to give, and maybe this is the game. You know, St James's Park at 12.30 is It's buzzing unlike other grounds at 12.30 on a Saturday.
00:02:21
Louie Easton
Yeah, well, Newcastle fans are always a bit rowdy. You see them taking their shirts off in the stands all the time. And there's probably quite an intimidating atmosphere to go to, and it's a an exhausting match to go to as an away fan, because you've got to climb up all of those stairs to get to the top stand as well. And um you did mention they struggled against Chelsea. That wasn't the Premier League. In the Kaurabao Cup, however, midweek, they did get a very convincing win, completely shutting out shutting up shop.
00:02:49
Louie Easton
not letting Chelsea have any proper, proper chances. um So, you know, this could be the match for Newcastle, and you do look to certain players for, well, at this level, for a massive match like this. So, you know, could, something could give.
00:03:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, like I say, I think that is going to be a difficult fixture for an Arsenal side that isn't at full strength, which we know they they were pretty much at full strength for all of last season. But you mentioned Newcastle coming off the back of a good Carabar Cup win. Manchester United had an excellent win at home against Leicester City. um New manager incoming at some point to be confirmed. Reuvenister Roy it will take charge of gain at home against Chelsea.
00:03:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now that to me, the Sunday 4.30 game, um I think that looks like the pick of the bunch to me. I think it's going to be really interesting.
00:03:42
Louie Easton
both Sunday matches you can watch them back to back because there's enough time I think or maybe not actually uh but regardless Spurs against Villa and Manchester United against Chelsea on the same afternoon those are two big matches but we'll come to United first as you mentioned them uh Chelsea very good run in the Premier League. Manchester United though, maybe a new set-up under Rude van Nistroy. I know he was 10 Hogs right-hand man this season and ah they did look quite convincing against Leicester. They were at home, it was under the old Trafford lights. This one will be as well because it's a short day as well at this time of year and also a nice trip up to the north for Chelsea once more.
00:04:24
Louie Easton
it's i Honestly, I can't call this one. Both teams have been so unpredictable in the last few seasons. um But so maybe you might be leaning towards Chelsea at this stage just based on their run of form in the Premier League and where they are at the in the table. Manchester United have had scoring problems this season. They were quite unlucky against West Ham with the open goal miss from Diogo Dallo and ah obviously the penalty right at the end.
00:04:53
Louie Easton
But, you know, we always see you manager coming in, got a chip on their shoulder, players want to work again, players want to get into the manager's good books, you never know what can happen, and they are at home, Marcus.
00:04:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
and yeah And this is exactly what I was going to say. So if I had to make a choice, I'd actually put my money on United here just for that very reason.
00:05:09
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:05:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
It seems even even from that midweek game that players have got an extra spring in their step. They're looking dangerous again. They're looking like they want to perform.
00:05:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're looking like they want to make a statement. um So I think just about. I think Manchester United are going to edge it but as you said the other Sunday fixture Tottenham against Aston Villa.
00:05:35
Louie Easton
Tottenham again, also had a fantastic result in the Carabao Cup.
00:05:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh
00:05:40
Louie Easton
2-1 against Manchester City. Pape Mata Saar with a ridiculous goal. Timo Werner got a goal. Amazing. Then he went off injured.
00:05:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
it
00:05:48
Louie Easton
So, ah a very mixed bag of a day for Timo Werner. Richarlison coming on, getting into the City players' heads. ah Villa had a less impressive Carabao Cup fixture this week as they lost at home to a struggling Crystal Palace. Palace, however, did beat Spurs on the weekend. So, this is what football's all about, isn't it? All these games that you think you know what's gonna happen, then you don't. It's just, it's madness at this stage of the season. We've got another international break coming up shortly as well.
00:06:21
Louie Easton
ah But I think this is the last one before the international... No, I think there's one more after this, isn't there?
00:06:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
my Yeah, we've got one more, one more, match week 11 follows straight, straight afterwards.
00:06:28
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:06:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm thinking as well, you know, with that result for Villa out the Carabao Cup, if you're a Villa fan, with where they are in the Premier League, with where they are in the Champions League, are you kind of glad?
00:06:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you know what? It's it's not another front front to fight on, and actually, we've got bigger fish to fry.
00:06:47
Louie Easton
It's true.
00:06:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
fry
00:06:50
Louie Easton
I did think before the season started Villa would struggle to get top four just because I didn't know how they would cope with the Champions League especially this new format Champions League which makes you play eight group stage matches granted they're doing very well in the Champions League top of the Champions League table who would have thought that before the season had started their first their first matches in the Champions League ever I believe um so they've had a very mixed bag season ah they're out of the Caramel Cup I think that's a blessing and a curse Because while they that's another trophy that they can't compete for, it's also less matches.
00:07:24
Louie Easton
You know, they're going to be free on those ah midweek fixtures now coming up as well for the Carabao Cup. and This is another big test for Aston Villa.
00:07:34
Louie Easton
Two o'clock kickoff away at one of the most beautiful stadiums and also one of the most intimidating stadiums in the world, I'd say.
00:07:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh yeah.
00:07:44
Louie Easton
ah We used to call it White Hot Lane, now it's called the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. um Again, it's another one I can't call Marcus.
00:07:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm going to stick my neck on the line. I'm going to say that Villa have got it to to do a number on Tottenham.
00:07:58
Louie Easton
Wow, that's quite the prediction.
00:07:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I really like what Yeah, I really like what Unai Emery's done there. I mean, it's probably gonna end up a draw, but if I had to pick a winner, um I do have a soft spot for what's happening at Aston Ville at the moment.
00:08:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, um yeah, I think i think they they would do it. Just before we have a look at the the rest of the fixtures and and have a little cheeky ad break, got to mention, you know, two Liverpool fans on the pod, away at Brighton Caravaro Cup, three-two, but I think to be fair, yeah, yeah, I think we were fairly convincing.
00:08:09
Louie Easton
Yes, I do hire.
00:08:22
Louie Easton
her
00:08:26
Louie Easton
Home against Brighton now. Cody Gackpo. What a player.
00:08:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:08:32
Louie Easton
It's incredible this new dynamic that's happening on the Liverpool left wing. You've got such healthy competition. Both Lewis Diaz and Cody Gackpo in the same position competing for a spot in the starting 11.
00:08:44
Louie Easton
Those are two of the best left wingers in the world, I think, at the moment, because when Cody Gackpo, you've got a player that's so direct and has such a lethal shot, even at the front post, you saw um Jason Steele couldn't get near it. It was in the bottom corner. ah I just don't understand how Liverpool keep doing it with these wingers. You know, we signed Gackpo from the Dutch League and we signed Diaz from the Portuguese League. Neither had proven themselves.
00:09:14
Louie Easton
ah in the top five leagues in Europe yet and suddenly we've done it again. Another dream signing that's completely paying off and now you've got all of the Spanish giants just licking their lips a bit trying to see if they can get Diaz's signature or Gagpo's signature.
00:09:30
Louie Easton
um But a convincing win going forward, I thought. We didn't have our first choice defense. It was Kwanzaa and Gomez who both haven't seen that many minutes this season struggling with the Brighton attack. Caro Matoma looking very good when he came off the bench. ah But if you are a betting man, you have to say you're putting your money on Liverpool once again.
00:09:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think so. What I would like to see ah is is a much more convincing win. I was at the Bournemouth game earlier this season last month um and that was very convincing and I feel like that's been not the case with with opposition so far and I feel like, you know, we really need to make a statement against Brighton. But before we look at the rest of the fixtures for match week 10, let's hear about Zencaster.
00:10:18

00:10:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you, Louis. And I'm going to jump straight ahead to the 530 on Saturday, Wolves Palace, because every year I look at the potential teams at the bottom of the table and I think, you know what, no, they've got it in them to survive.
00:11:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
I look at Wolves, I look at Leicester, I look at Palace and I think, no, Everton, they're not going down. I said Everton weren't going down very beginning of the season and then I was starting to get a bit worried after the first few matches.
00:11:14
Louie Easton
Nah. We don't want Everton staying up, do we?
00:11:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:11:17
Louie Easton
No we don't.
00:11:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, do you know what I really do? I think I'm, I'm such a sucker for and nostalgia. And I feel like Everton not being in the top flight would be a real shame for, um for all of football. But we will look at Everton got in a tasty fixture coming up away at Southampton. Wolves Palace is, ah you know, a real six pointer, I think. And I don't think Wolves at home after, you know, a real, really great result um last week.
00:11:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that this is the time for them to turn their season around.
00:11:48
Louie Easton
Wolves, if you look at their next nine fixtures, listen to these next nine.
00:11:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:11:52
Louie Easton
This is an incredible run of games. So, Palais at home, Southampton at home, Fulham away, Bournemouth at home, Everton away, West Ham away, Ipswich at home, Leicester away.
00:12:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:12:06
Louie Easton
that Those are games that you can look at wolves and think they can pick up three points here for all of those nine fixtures.
00:12:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:12:12
Louie Easton
And then they've got a new manager, maybe Ruben Amareem. I'm not going to ah put my head on the line and say that he will have the job, but it does look likely at this stage. ah That's a 5.30 kick-off at home on Boxing Day after a lot of matches, so that could go either way as well.
00:12:33
Louie Easton
If you're a Wolves fan, surely you're licking your lips at this stage. And it's a massive, massive result at Brighton as well. Arguably a shock, but an incredible match. And you do you do fancy, if you're a Wolves fan, you can definitely pick up some points and start climbing the table at this stage.
00:12:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think so. I mean, not to to put anything against, you know, Panis had a fantastic result against Tottenham and I said um they looked a different side against Spurs. They looked really confident, but away from home, ah you know, after the back of that result, I thought i can't see anything but but three points for Wolves there. We did touch on Everton. and They're a away to Southampton. Big game for them.
00:13:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
and i I fancy Everton. I fancy Everton against Southampton just because something's not clicking for them and I don't know what it is.
00:13:17
Louie Easton
Do you?
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
No I do, I think I know what it is. I think it's belief. I think the manager is talking a good game and he's saying it week in week out that he believes in what they're doing and you know the luck of the draw why they're not getting results but I'm not seeing that reflected in the players and I think Sean Dyche has got Everton always kind of fighting for stuff and I feel like they're gonna travel and and get a result at Southampton I've not predicted any draws so far.
00:13:45
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:13:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm a real optimist ah Probably yeah
00:13:47
Louie Easton
as it didn't you put you said Villa Spurs would probably be a draw but you did put your neck on the line there but one thing I will say Everton did get a result out of Fulham granted it was at home granted it was a last-minute equalizer but you look for momentum can you get momentum off the back of results like that and a draw against a very good-looking Fulham side at the moment does give you that sort of motivation to continue to think hang on a second we've got a bit of quality ourselves we can go to these matches and we can get three points and Southampton they're a team you can definitely get three points out of ah because they've been struggling themselves this season I don't think they've won a match all season have they so
00:14:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
No.
00:14:35
Louie Easton
Yeah, this is this is a massive match at the bottom of the league table. I did think ah before the season these two teams would both be going down. At this stage, I can't really call it.
00:14:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:46
Louie Easton
I think Ipswich will probably go down. I just don't think they have enough quality. And I think Everton will struggle, ah especially if they do get injuries and they're playing players, you know, in their late 30s and Ashley Young every single week.
00:15:00
Louie Easton
So I can't see Everton as a team that will definitely stay up. I think they do have to really fight towards the end of the season. But as for this match,
00:15:12
Louie Easton
I'm going to say it's a draw. I'm gonna say a goalless draw. That's what that's how boring I am.
00:15:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
treating us to a goal of store draw on the South Coast.
00:15:22
Louie Easton
ah
00:15:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Lovely ball from Ashley lu Young last week actually as well. Nice to see him still kicking about. You mentioned Southampton haven't won a single game yet. Ipswich haven't won a single game yet.
00:15:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Tractor boys are at home to Leicester City and they're a club that I said they've got the experience in the manager and the players and although it will be a struggle I fancy them to stay up. and Thoughts on Ipswich Leicester City?
00:15:43
Louie Easton
Yeah. ah Yeah, Leicester, they struggled against their East Midlands rivals at home ah um last weekend. Fair enough. Forrester, a good team. They got three points against Southampton before that. So, you know, there is a result in them. They struggled in midweek against a new manager, Manchester United side, and Reuven this story as well.
00:16:06
Louie Easton
um But right now, sitting at 15th in the table, two wins this season. Ipswich, five losses, four draws, not the best of form. ah You fancy Leicester here, I think. i I do think you do. Jamie Vardy, I didn't see him scoring as often as he has been this season. he has still got that sort of lethal finish, that clinical, just old school striker style that we have missed.
00:16:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh my.
00:16:34
Louie Easton
You look to Barclays Premier League days, you look for players like Jamie Vardy, especially with that attitude as well. He still has it.
00:16:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh yeah.
00:16:40
Louie Easton
you see He still has it. He's 37. He still has it. At a trip to Ipswich, you do fancy Leicester, I do think. I think Vardy might even get on the school sheet again. Who's to say no?
00:16:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah of course and and actually just I think so you mentioned about kind of Diaz and Gackpo and the left wing for Liverpool what I love is what you said you know they're so direct and it's something that I grew up with wingers who would take players on and I haven't seen that in football for a long time.
00:17:07
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:17:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
What you've also not seen for a long time is these real characters you know everyone's media trained and everyone says the right thing and you know
00:17:10
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:17:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
thanks to their partners and their managers and their teammates and Vardy is just another beast and I absolutely love having him in the Premier League.
00:17:18
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:17:22
Louie Easton
Yeah, you don't see Cody Gackpo getting aggressive with oppositions. Even when he scores. Straight face. Cool as a cucumber. No, I do miss.
00:17:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
but yeah
00:17:32
Louie Easton
and You have to say you do love a striker who will get in the opponent's faces. That's why I love Darwin Nunez taunting the opposition and, you know, Jamie Vardy running over, destroying a corner flag.
00:17:43
Louie Easton
What's not to love?
00:17:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
of course of course so um forest actually are currently sitting seventh uh they had a good win against yeah good good win against lester they've also not just results i think they've been playing some really nice football i am absolutely talking about strikers i am loving chris woods just the story there is fantastic they're at home to west dam on saturday oh
00:17:52
Louie Easton
they've had a terrific october
00:18:08
Louie Easton
honestly
00:18:11
Louie Easton
I do think this is the season of The Old School Striker, isn't it? Because we've got Chris Wood, we've got Jamie Vardy, and Danny Welbeck of Brighton all just having this incredible resurgence.
00:18:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:18:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah. And not to mention, of course, we will come on to City and Earling Harlan, but yeah, this this is, ah I like this resurgence. I like that um that strikers are kind of being strikers again. And um Chris Woods has has been very versatile with finishing as well. I think it's easy to say, oh, you know, it's a big striker up front, but scored some really tidy finishes and um really smart play, really nice goals. West Ham, travelling to Forest. West Ham, I think,
00:18:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
by their standards of underperformed this far this season so far.
00:18:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:18:56
Louie Easton
Yeah, the West Ham is a tricky one because they have got incredible, incredible quality in their squad and an incredible manager.
00:19:07
Louie Easton
You know, they won against Man United, but they had to scrap, they had to go for that, and they were very fortunate. Delos opened goal miss and the late penalty, again, I mentioned that earlier, but before that 4-1 loss away at Spurs,
00:19:21
Louie Easton
But they did be Ipswich 4-1 before that, so maybe we'll see a 4-1 today. Who knows, no. and West Ham, it's it's such a difficult one as well because you look at their squad, you look at their transfer window that they had, and you ah many people before the season were predicting that West Ham would be playing Champions League football next season.
00:19:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Of course, of course. i You know, I do think they have that quality. And if you were to tell me this fixture maybe two, three, four weeks ago, I would have said for sure, Westam. It is a tricky one, but yeah.
00:19:53
Louie Easton
I'll ask you this about West Ham. Do you think their team just needs to click and do you think that will happen later this season?
00:20:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it will happen. I actually, um I spoke to these, to the guys from the GSPN podcast way back when we were doing our kind of transfer window episodes early, early in the season. And I was kind of like, how are they managing to do such good business? What is the draw of going to West Ham United? And of course, you know, they have won a European trophy recently. They did look like they were going to really challenge for some top five positions um this season.
00:20:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
and they've got they've got the players, they've got the manager, they've got an amazing stadium. The the London stadium is just incredible to to watch football at. So I think time is probably the issue.
00:20:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
What we've realised for a long time though is do managers and players get the time? I hope West Ham fans will give them the time and maybe this is the game they turn it around. You know, Forest have been great and they are at home but as you said this West Ham team has got quality so they've got every potential to to kick on there.
00:20:54
Louie Easton
Thank you.
00:20:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Final game on the Saturday to look at, Man City Away to
00:21:04
Louie Easton
I mean, you can you fancy an upset here, maybe. Man City haven't been playing at their best. You know, we thought that they would, at home to Southampton, absolutely run them over. They didn't. Southampton hit the bar and it was a 1-0 win for Man City. I know they dominated possession. I know majority of the match was in Southampton's half. We expected that.
00:21:27
Louie Easton
But, you know, it was a scrappy goal from Erling Harland in the middle. I don't know how he scored, it but it just went into the back of the net like it always does whenever it falls to Harland in the box. But Bournemouth, we saw them put up an incredible performance against Aston Villa, getting another last-minute goal ah with Evan Ilsen. Mark Travers doing wonders in goal, turning into prime petter check.
00:21:52
Louie Easton
They have a fantastic defence. I just see maybe, if Mad City are to slip up here, Bournemouth is definitely a team that can ah do that. And they are at home as well. It's a three o'clock kickoff. The city have got a long trip all the way to the south coast. I know that that's part of the Premier League, but it does, you know, so city our favourites, and that might be too too much pressure for them. You never know.
00:22:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's it's no secret. They have struggled without Ballon d'Or winner.
00:22:25
Louie Easton
Absolutely.
00:22:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Rodgeri and Kevin De Bruyne are being injured as well. But the thing that I always say, you know, I grew up in the era of Manchester United's dominance. And what I kept seeing was a Man United team that sometimes wasn't at its best, but would grind out a result and get three points.
00:22:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then that's what I'm seeing in the character of the city side here. so i'd love I'd love for Bournemouth to do a job against City at home, but I can see yeah i can see City coming away with three points from this.
00:22:51
Louie Easton
I think we all would.
00:22:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Final game to look at matchday 10, Brentford travel to Fulham on Monday night.
00:23:02
Louie Easton
West London Derby.
00:23:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Yeah, that's an interesting one as well. Again, I've been really impressed with Fulham this season. I actually thought they'd really struggle.

and them being at home against Brentford, Brentford have been not consistent, I think. And when I say not consistent, I'm talking about across 90 minutes, hey they just don't seem to be able to shut up shop oh or kind of maintain whatever leads they've got.
00:23:24
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:23:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know they had a great win against Ipswich last week, but Fulham have been really impressive and yeah, strikers in form. I think a full and win 2-1 against Brentford on Monday.
00:23:44
Louie Easton
they struggled against Everton for them, but you look at that team, you look at how well they've been playing. They had a fantastic start to the season, you know, this resurgence of Emile Smith-Rowe and, you know, Reece Nelson, players like this going forward.
00:23:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:24:00
Louie Easton
And the only weakness, I think, is Adama Triore. I know he is so physical, but he's realistically an athlete who's playing football. He doesn't put in a great cross, and if the ball falls in front of him in the box, I know it's all well and good me saying this behind a camera on GSPN, but ah he just doesn't have that distribution of the ball, and that we've always said that with a Dama Triore, and things haven't changed. um So I think that's Fulham's real weakness, that right-hand side.
00:24:36
Louie Easton
Um, but, you know, this is a real six-pointer as well. Brentford are only one point ahead of Fulham in the table. It's ninth versus tenth, and this could go either way. I thought Brentford would struggle a lot more this season without Ivan Toney as well. They've done very well. Johan Visa,
00:24:54
Louie Easton
I wrote him off. I really shouldn't have, and I don't know why I did that. And also, this season does seem to be the rise of a great player by the name of Keen Lewis Potter.
00:25:06
Louie Easton
I don't think he gets talked about it enough because he has been putting in excellent performances for Bremth of this season.
00:25:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah real real shifts actually.
00:25:11
Louie Easton
and
00:25:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's That's a good point. One final thought for me on that. We're talking about strikers and the resurgence of strikers. Raoul Jimenez is quietly just going about his business, banging in goals, it feels like every week.
00:25:22
Louie Easton
Yeah!
00:25:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's that's really interesting. and Looking forward to to match day 10. um My pick of the bunch there is obviously Newcastle Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea, and of course Liverpool, Brighton's worth look, but there's some lovely bottom of the table clashes, real six pointers there. and We're going to round things off by looking at the end of the month, but before that, let me tell you about the Global Sports Podcast Network.

Global Sports Podcast Network, every club, every day. And we're going to wrap things up very, very quickly here because it is the end of the month and um we've got some nominations for Manager of the Month and we wanted to talk about our player of the month.
00:26:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
So nominations for Manager of the Month are, you Spirit of Sanso.
00:26:28
Louie Easton
Do you want me to read them out? Oh, you're reading them out.
00:26:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, please go for it.
00:26:30
Louie Easton
Oh, okay. Yeah, I'll do it. I'll do it. I'll do it. Nuno Espirito Santo of Nottingham Forest, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Fabian Husela of Brighton and Hove Albion, and Arna Schlott of Liverpool.
00:26:44
Louie Easton
Yes! He's made it!
00:26:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, I won't be so so obvious as to to get both of us to root for Anna Slott. Yeah, I think this is quite a difficult, difficult bunch to choose from.
00:26:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
What are your thoughts? Okay, i am I think that's a good selection. And apart from the result um against Wolves last week, I would say Fabian Herzler, we talked about him again at the beginning of the season.
00:26:58
Louie Easton
Do you know what, I'll let you go first on this one.
00:27:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was very much a kind of like, Does anyone know anything about this guy?
00:27:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:27:18
Louie Easton
Yeah, honestly, a young play- young manager, he's young enough to still be playing in his prime as well, Fabian Herzl, a 31 years old.
00:27:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah. Yes, much, much younger than me um and doing a fantastic job at Brighton. um You know, it feels really bad because City of Flying because Pep Guardiola is so consistent ah and it's a shame to kind of gloss over him but it is nice to see other managers and other teams doing really well so for me Fabian Herzler is my pick of the bunch there but also really you know Forest have been a revelation this season let alone this month so any of those two
00:27:56
Louie Easton
Yes, i think I think mine would be Nottingham Forest. I think we knew Nottingham Forest would be having a fantastic season anyway because we've always, well I've certainly always thought that Nuno Espirito Santo is a terrific manager.
00:28:10
Louie Easton
I'm fairly sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, ah I mean Spurs fans might disagree with me there, but I do think he is a terrific manager and ah as Liverpool fans we know that firsthand, I'm afraid.
00:28:21
Louie Easton
I know that wasn't the last month but
00:28:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:28:24
Louie Easton
I mean, they've continued that form very well. And I think they will finish in the top half of the league this season. That's my early table prediction for the end of the season. So I'm going to go with Nuno Espirito Santo. As for player of the month, I'll read out the nominations again. ah So we've got Facundo Buonanotta of Leicester. We've got Yoshko Gavario of Manchester City. We've got Brian Umbermo of Brentford.
00:28:51
Louie Easton
We've got Cole Palmer of Chelsea.
00:28:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:28:54
Louie Easton
We've got Bekayo Saka of Arsenal. We've got Matt Sells of Nottingham Forest. We've got Danny Welbeck of Brighton and Hove Albion.
00:29:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh Oh.
00:29:03
Louie Easton
And of course, how could we forget, Chris Wood of Nottingham Forest.
00:29:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh gosh, I mean, we've we've covered a bit of well back and wood already.
00:29:10
Louie Easton
What a range of players.
00:29:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Gosh, that is really difficult.
00:29:15
Louie Easton
It's so hard. ah we do
00:29:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I said, do you know what, it's difficult because so many players are having a great resurgence in, you know, we talked about well, but we talked about Chris Woods.
00:29:18
Louie Easton
to
00:29:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I really hoped Saka wouldn't be available for the, for the weekend's fixture.
00:29:25
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:29:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he was, you know, against Robertson is is no slouch as a left back. We know that I felt at times Saka was unplayable and The talk for all the fans coming into the Emirates was, is Saka playing?
00:29:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Is Saka playing? That's how important he is and how great he is. I've had the pleasure of of watching him many times for England and it's fantastic. um But for me, continues to just make my jaw drop to the floor with the weight and the confidence he plays football.
00:30:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Cole Palmer has just been incredible.
00:30:04
Louie Easton
I mean, on the weekend, that pass he did to Pedro Neto to set up Chelsea's first goal against Newcastle.
00:30:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Finishing, passing. all
00:30:12
Louie Easton
I mean, he had no time to even see that pass and for him to hit it perfectly on the term, perfect amount of weight on it, he's a technical genius and he just seems to continue to impress us.
00:30:27
Louie Easton
He's got more goals plus assists than Erling Harlan this season. it You cannot underestimate how good ah Cole Palmer has been this season.
00:30:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's absolutely insane, absolutely insane.
00:30:38
Louie Easton
But for me, I'm going to go with Danny Welbeck, you know, and the reason I'm going to go with Danny Welbeck as well is because I keep on thinking, oh, this form is just going to end soon. But no, in don't i'm I'm not saying Brighton are a lackluster team, but they're not they're not above average in Premier League terms. I mean, they they've got some wonderful players in there, but the fact that he just keeps on scoring. And it's so frustrating for me because in the fantasy Premier League that I have with the
00:31:10
Louie Easton
my family friends My dad has overtaken me because he has Danny Welbeck in his team. That's why but that's why I know constantly how well he's doing. So Yeah, I know I'd be 18th in the ah in the fantasy league of GSPN at the moment. so I'm not having a great season but Anyway, Cole Palmer has been having a real resurgence. It really does look like it's his season for Brighton, doesn't it?
00:31:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh gosh yeah, dear he's well it's been incredible at Brighton and it's great to see as well because I think you know players leave big clubs like Manchester United and you kind of think oh that's you now, you' you're kind of out to pasture and you'll see out your days but he's he's not letting up. um There were some really good good players listed there, and there could have been quite a few others to add to the list as well.
00:32:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to stick with with Cole Palmer for my Player of the Month, but you did make a very convincing argument for for Danny Wuerlbeck. I do hope his form continues. and He's always been a joy to watch, not necessarily when he was at United playing against Liverpool.
00:32:16
Louie Easton
No, definitely not.
00:32:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
but and But apart from that, it's always nice to watch. We have covered all of the Matchday 10 games. We've talked about our favourite managers of the month, favourite player of the month.
00:32:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it's time to wrap things up and say goodbye and thank you to all the listeners. And it's goodbye from me, Marcus.
00:32:34
Louie Easton
And it's goodbye from me, Louie.
