Louie Easton: Hello Marcus, good to good to see you again.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yes. What could possibly go wrong when you get the two Liverpool fans hosting the review of the games that are coming up, especially when there are some really big ones coming up in the Premier League this weekend.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And Louis, you were actually on the crossover podcast for the Liverpool and City teams ah yesterday.
Louie Easton: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: and How'd you get on?
Louie Easton: yes i was a fantastic podcast as well uh... massive uh... massive shout outs to keeling and louis from the city team and of course tom and cal from the liverpool team we had a proper discussion about it sit you know in -depth analysis of what uh... the problems are at man city what the strengths are at liverpool and a little preview as well for the uh... for the weekend that was all recorded before the realm of dread match last night as well um So yeah, definitely go and check that out if you want to hear more on either the daily Manchester City or daily Liverpool podcasts on GSPN.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and actually it's it's interesting you guys recorded that before the game because that was some game and I won't dwell on it because it's not a UCL podcast. Just a quick shout out to Connor Bradley's tackle on Mbappe.
Louie Easton: Just unbelievable.
Global Sports Podcast Network: ah
Louie Easton: Everyone in the pub when that happened. oh Incredible.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I'll watch that all day long, but Bradley went off injured. However, Trent Alexander Arnold has been declared fit. Schlotz said so in his press conference himself that he's ready to come back. um City obviously have a lot of injury problems, although I did read today um that Roger was on the Rest Is Football podcast and and reckons he's aiming to be back before the season is out.
Louie Easton: Okay.
Global Sports Podcast Network: which is, yeah, I'm not sure you can really get back that quickly from an ACL, and if you should force getting back that quickly, but perhaps the problems at City are forcing his hand to try and speed up his recovery.
Louie Easton: Well, let's not forget as well that January hasn't happened yet and City are more than capable of buying themselves a number six. I heard they're actually interested in one of Liverpool's old targets, Mr. Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. That would be a huge signing ah for Manchester City. And, you know, I did think that they had a strange summer window, you know, getting back um Ilkay Gunduan, someone who's 34 years old, it felt all a bit sentimental really, and he's not a perfect replacement for Rogerie. So yeah, it will be a massive, massive January ah for them as well.
Louie Easton: um If Rodri does come back, I do think it'll be too little too late, and especially since it's a defensive problem and not an attacking problem. I've seen some ah improvements in their attacks since they started playing Phil Foden in that number 10 position. And, you know, they will people will take ah the Mick out of their final match the way that they ah conceded three late goals, but they did score three goals still. So ah attack's not their issue. It's just, you know, missing a player who can basically play four positions at the same time is a big one.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and actually that game, for for most of that game, they were looking like the city team we know we know in cruise control, banging in goals.
Global Sports Podcast Network: It was really kind of like, okay, now they're back on track. However, they did say it felt like a loss coming out of that with a 3 -3.
Louie Easton: and that's understandable.
Global Sports Podcast Network: They go into Anfield. um I'm going into this, you know, I'm still not saying Liverpool are going to be champions by the end of the season, although I'm starting to feel that little twinge of hope.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um
Louie Easton: ah don't want I don't want to predict anything. it's you know it's it's you know it's It's still November. um to Sunday will be Liverpool's first match in December. It's still early in the season and Man City are the sort of team you can really see going on a sort of 27 -week undefeated streak as well. They're that good. We've seen it before.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yes, we have seen it before. And I've said before as well, ah in fact, yesterday with Nick on the podcast, you know what, in terms of the fixtures so far, I don't think Liverpool have had a particularly hard run and the tests are yet to come.
Global Sports Podcast Network: We have looked really good, but you know, this is a big test, Man City coming to to Anfield.
Louie Easton: No.
Louie Easton: That's rubbish. I'm sorry, that's rubbish. That is rubbish.
Global Sports Podcast Network: it You don't think it's been an easy run or an easier run?
Louie Easton: we absolutely i We've made it look easy. We've had some difficult matches. You know, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern, Leverkusen, Real Madrid. These are all difficult matches and, you know, we took the gas off a bit against Southampton and really were nearly punished for that.
Louie Easton: I think that's ah and a false thing to say that Liverpool have had it easy. We've played everyone hard in the top six apart from Man City. That's, well, I suppose we haven't played yet, but still, you know, I think credit where it's due for the tough matches we've had coming out of them looking like a we deserve the win.
Global Sports Podcast Network: So I think yesterday was a great example, actually, because Rael, for the first kind of 10, 15 minutes, looked like, oh, they're going to catch us on the counter, and it's going to be another day of Rael running us ragged. And it was a team that wasn't, you know, is missing a lot of key players, but still went toe to toe Liverpool for quite, you know, a lot of time. And it was, you know,
Global Sports Podcast Network: it was a real kind of heart in your throat kind of match to watch it was almost like watching a Champions League final and I think um that was the kind of energy I think we still have watching Liverpool is you know whoever you're up against whether it's Southampton whether it's Arsenal or could the wheels come off here and so far I think they haven't but you know in touch with they don't I feel like that will come as the season kind of moves on and we'll start to see
Louie Easton: Oh yeah. Funny that.
Louie Easton: Yeah. And also, the penalty saves as well. You know, that Bradley tackle really felt like a clop moment. Do you know what I mean when I say that?
Louie Easton: You know, it just really wakes up Anfield, riles the fans up, and it was... I feel like if that match was played at the Bernabeu, it may have been different, but I think the Real Madrid players, especially their young centre -back, who was really good, Asensio, sort of dealt with that noise.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Mmm.
Louie Easton: but started really letting it get to them at the end. And ah I think Liverpool did deserve to win. I think it was the fair result. But Real Madrid are just unbelievable watching them pass out of the back. is it It proves that it's a different game whenever you play some of these European giants. ah The tactics sort of do go out of the window and you're not really um as suffocating to ah their teams as maybe some of the mid -table teams in the Premier League.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, it's absolutely right, I think. um I wouldn't say, I think it's completely deserved that win, and it was such a thrilling game to watch. Another big game coming up, Manchester City at home.
Global Sports Podcast Network: This is a real opportunity. If Liverpool win this Sunday, the gap becomes, yeah, sorry, Liverpool at home.
Louie Easton: Liverpool at home, sorry.
Global Sports Podcast Network: If Liverpool win at home this Sunday, Manchester City are 11 points off the top. Is it is it season done at Liverpool champions?
Louie Easton: No, absolutely not. No. You forget, this is Slots first season at Liverpool. so he And we're about to go into the most congested part of the season, December. That's when all the fixtures come at you thick and fast. live up Sorry, my webcam just fell. ah Liverpool are still um in the League Cup. Manchester City aren't, so that's an extra game that they have off.
Louie Easton: And, you know, that's when injuries happen. You know, we've already got a few players out, not as many a city granted, but, you know, jotters out. Elliot's just coming back. Bradley's just gone out. We're not sure how long he's going to be out for. Same with cho Costas Timacas. These are the times in the season where players' fitness are really tested. And ah it It really just depends on how well your team can deal with the injuries. you know Liverpool aren't a team with that much depth. Granted, we have an incredible academy, but it's Slots first season. If he does have injuries, how will he deal with them? The Premier League, well, playing in England is way harder than it is playing in the Dutch League. say And Pep's been, he's got so much experience.
Louie Easton: ah
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: four Premier League titles in a row. That doesn't go unnoticed and I think people need to stop with this whole, oh Manchester City can't win the league if they lose. They certainly can and they have all the quality. It's just their players are getting a bit older but that comes experience and I think it's not done and dusted if Liverpool win.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, I totally agree with that. And Nick was was sharing some startling statistics about the age of the Manchester City squad. Liverpool facing a few injuries as well. Canate doesn't look like he'll make um make the game this Sunday as well.
Louie Easton: God can I say too?
Global Sports Podcast Network: this There's plenty more happening on match day 13, which we'll get to right after we've heard about Zencaster.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And straight on to the first game of match day 13, which is Brighton Southampton 8pm kickoff on the Friday. Yeah, the seagulls host Southampton. And speaking of Southampton, I did think they they they gave me a bit of a worrying time watching them against Liverpool the other day and they hosted Liverpool.
Global Sports Podcast Network: ah Tyler Dibbling looked really tasty on the ball and apparently has been linked with Spurs.
Louie Easton: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um They are after him.
Louie Easton: That doesn't surprise me. um You know, it always happens whenever an 18 -year -old does well at a smaller club. The big six ah always lick their lips at the prospect of a wonder kid for the future.
Louie Easton: Southampton did look good. I think they were unlucky against Liverpool, you know, only losing by one goal. And one of the one of the goals that Liverpool scored came from just craziness at the back, giving it straight to Soboslai.
Louie Easton: On another day, Southampton could have won. ah ah Liverpool did look relatively pedestrian towards the end. Brighton, on the other hand, Zhao Pedro is just incredible.
Louie Easton: That Parsi did some atoma in there.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oh.
Louie Easton: You know exactly which one I'm talking about, the one against Bournemouth away. Going to Bournemouth away, that's not an easy one. um
Global Sports Podcast Network: No.
Louie Easton: Amazing team play for Brighton's goals. ah Belabor very unlucky to be sent off, but they did get ah they did get the job done.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Hmm.
Louie Easton: Simenio was unlucky not to score. That match maybe could have gone either way, but Brighton got over the line and um playing against Southampton is ah respectfully a bit of an easier one, especially at home on an evening under the lights as well.
Louie Easton: It does look like Brighton will probably get the job done.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and and um um I'm enjoying, you know, not just the way Brighton is setting up, but Fabian Hurstler's interviews as well. He's backing his players. He's kind of talking about Brighton um competing and playing a certain way.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And it's really refreshing to see. So um I think at Brighton win, I'm worried for Southampton. I keep looking at their fixtures going. Do you know what? I understand what you're doing. I like the football you're playing, but I don't see three points in any of the upcoming fixtures.
Louie Easton: i I spoke to the Southampton boys on our crossover podcast a couple of weeks ago leading up to the match with Liverpool and they said that they just think that they were promoted to the Premier League a little bit too early because they've got a big project you know getting into the Premier League you get a lot of money for it and that may help in the long term but ah they they They just don't really have the quality and rushing that sort of vision that they have ah with Russell Martin as manager would be a stupid thing. So I think Southampton fans, it's not the end of the world if you do get relegated because you'll be back up. You get time to readjust, you know, look at a some players that you might want for the long term. um Just maybe not finishing rock bottom might be the goal for Southampton this season. If they stay up, absolutely incredible.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I think as well, if if they if they don't stay up, is does that mean the likes of Tyler Dibbling, you know, a young, showing you loads of potential, playing at the highest level will be snapped up by another club and the project to rebuild gets even harder.
Louie Easton: Yeah, i I do think so, but if they get a nice hefty ah transfer for either him, that will help as well.
Global Sports Podcast Network: and of course, parachute payment as well. So Saturday brings us ah lots of interesting games. I want to look at the 530. I think because Liverpool City has been talked about a lot this Sunday, no one's really looking at West Ham host Arsenal. West Ham have had I would say by their standards, it's not a great season so far.
Global Sports Podcast Network: They got that win against Newcastle on a Monday night, so they're starting to get back back to it.
Louie Easton: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Arsenal have quietly been rebuilding their season as well, playing some great football and getting three points on the road. um you know Champions League against Sporting looked really good.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um But I still fancy West Ham at home against this Arsenal side, you know?
Louie Easton: but Really explain why.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I just, I think, you know, they are a team that plays off of confidence. They're also, I think, a little bit of a team that steps up when they've got that rivalry to play against.
Louie Easton: Yeah, I understand that.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I think the the stadium, the fans are going to be, it's going to be raucous in there.
Louie Easton: It's at home as well.
Global Sports Podcast Network: They're going to be really giving the answer. Yeah. Yeah.
Louie Easton: Under the Olympic Stadium lights. My my trouble is, with that, is they're playing Arsenal. And that's that that is it. You know, Arsenal looked unbelievable against Forest.
Louie Easton: Absolutely. Urdegard, having him back in their team, has done them wonders.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oh.
Louie Easton: he is It's the way that he just draws defenders in, passes out to a player in space, and you know that sets up a goal. um Still question marks over Leandro Trossard for me.
Louie Easton: um I didn't get the opportunity to watch their match ah with sporting, ah but Trossard, I just don't think he can be as clinical if he starts a match.
Louie Easton: I think he's better off the bench and just injects a bit of energy into the attack. but um Saka was brilliant again. Arsenal just passing the ball away.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oof.
Louie Easton: like it's It's poetry in motion. um it's It's like vintage Arsenal. Some of their goals could have been like Henri and Pires and Berghamt back in the day.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Absolutely.
Louie Easton: ah no And of obviously we need to talk about this young kid they've got, Ethan Noaneri. he He came on, stepovers, that shot from distance.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yes.
Louie Easton: oh It's really looking up for Arsenal. I did mention the fact that don't count Man City out ah this early in the season. Don't count Arsenal out. They're the ones that I think I'm more scared of than Manchester City.
Louie Easton: I know a lot of people who are Liverpool fans do tend to look to Manchester City as a serious rivalry, but Arsenal You forget, ah each year they're growing with experience and it's a young team that are starting to really mature this season.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, I've, I've really enjoyed watching them this season. I think, I think what happens with football fans is you get used to how good a player is and you forget you're watching Saka doing things week in, week out.
Global Sports Podcast Network: You're like, Oh my God, this guy is incredible.
Louie Easton: He's been really disrespected this season because of Cole Palmer's success.
Global Sports Podcast Network: But nobody really. Yeah.
Louie Easton: You look to the England right -winger, you're probably looking at Cole Palmer at the moment. But yeah, Saka, he's just, we we were talking about him being inconsistent. You know, he has these dips in form, but you know, when he's when he's on form, he's unstoppable.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, absolutely. And of course, you know, this this game week will bring us into December and as you said, it's a very congested time. January transfer window, there's injuries all over the place at the moment. Do we go back to this age old argument? Do Arsenal need a number nine? Do they need an out and out striker?
Louie Easton: ah They don't really have, they've been coping so well with having that sort of false nine though. You know, Havots and Jay -Zeus sort of tucking themselves into that false nine role, or sometimes playing with two false nines. It's it's a strange one for Arsenal. ah You know, Gabrielle Jay -Zeus starting to play a bit more. He played well against Forrest, I thought, could have scored a goal. um I don't think, ah what I think is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, especially halfway through the season.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, I agree. I think as soon as they they have like a bad result or don't score as many goals, everyone's like, oh, it's not even number nine. And then they go and score three, four, five goals.
Louie Easton: Exactly, that's my thing.
Global Sports Podcast Network: So, um, yeah, I don't buy it. I think, um, they did some really good business. I think they probably did the best business, uh, preseason this, this time round of all the clubs.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Um, some really, yeah.
Louie Easton: Yeah, Call of Fury coming in as well, really looking good. And also, if you've got someone like Odegard on your team, you fancy anyone to score because he'll just put it on a plate for them.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, 100%.
Louie Easton: He's that good.

Global Sports Podcast Network: Thank you, Louis. And I said, you know, looking at the late kickoff on the Saturday, the early kickoff, Spurs are at home to Fulham. And I said to Nick yesterday on this podcast, is it time to stop Spurs bashing? Is is this whole same old Tottenham thing done and dead?
Louie Easton: It's so difficult with Spurs because you forget they just lost to Ipswich before beating City. but it's it's you know that's That's the thing with Spurs, it doesn't matter what season, it doesn't matter what manager, it doesn't matter what team. If it's Spurs, they are just going to lose to a small team and then have a huge giant killing. 4 -0!
Louie Easton: 4 -0 against Manchester City. City looked dreadful, granted, but Spurs made them look dreadful as well.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: You know, the the fast breaks that Spurs in that match, ah there were more fast breaks than any other match this season with nine. Ben Davis as well, unsung hero, ah incredible.
Louie Easton: Spurs fans could have a right to start so getting excited after beating City because they've shown that they have the quality, they've shown they can do it. James Madison, absolutely fantastic.
Louie Easton: Kuleshevsky, too, every time.
Global Sports Podcast Network: What a run for that first goal. They ate so good out of nowhere.
Louie Easton: Yeah, I mean, as yeah, and just punishing the defence, being clinical in front of the goal and still going to the very end. Timo Werner, as well, getting an assist for um that late Brandon Johnson sort of sliding finish.
Louie Easton: Brandon Johnson, I think, has been the biggest story this season. I will make what, at least within a shout, because Well, I'll be honest, when he went to Spurs, I just thought, it's not good enough. I don't think that's, I think that's a bit sort of short sighted from Spurs, but no, he's completely proven me wrong. He's been terrific this season.
Louie Easton: um the the thing is with Spurs it's just you don't really know what you're going to get from them you look at any single team in the Premier League and you don't know what you're going to get because Spurs will slip up against these smaller sides but I think Fulham are definitely a side that will be taken seriously in this match and um you know they'd be stupid not to take them seriously they've got so much quality going forward and um I think Fulham were a bit unlucky against Wolves i and I know that sounds ridiculous, because they did lose 4 -1.
Louie Easton: And Mateusz Kounia just put on that masterclass. We'll talk talk more about him later when we talk about wolves.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oh, yes.
Louie Easton: But, you know, Harry Wilson and Jimenez were hitting the bar. And that Iwobi goal. Unbelievable. Did you see it? This left foot from outside the box, bending it into the top corner.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: It was a game of great goals, that one. ah But Fulham, I think, have been a bit inconsistent as well. It it could go either way.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, yeah, it really could. um But again, you know, so many great Premier League games. They're looking very tasty. Apologies. This first game is the Sunday, 1 .30. Chelsea hosts the Villa at 1 .30 on Sunday as well.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um And we spent a lot of time in the pre -season Chelsea bashing kind of going, what is going on?
Louie Easton: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: What is all these purchases? um It doesn't seem to be any idea or any structure. ah They're proving us wrong, aren't they?
Louie Easton: Well, that and also the fact that Leicester were absolutely awful um in their home match against Chelsea. Leicester really didn't try. They were just sitting back the entire game. I mean, Chelsea are getting better every week. They had really good intensity.
Louie Easton: um
Louie Easton: With Chelsea, they are a team that you do need to start taking seriously. I think their team are proving us all wrong because we made fun of Chelsea for all these years and absolutely loved being able to do so.
Louie Easton: But unfortunately, we're getting the old Chelsea back a bit now, aren't we? and um I think their team is brilliant. Cole Palmer as well. you just can't That's the first player you think of when you think of Chelsea.
Louie Easton: Cole Palmer's the heartbeat of that team and what a player to have.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Hmm.
Louie Easton: ah but I think Chelsea are a team that are starting to run more as well for their manager. And that's really important. Enzo Maresco, I think, has done a brilliant job with them.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and funny enough, you know, absolutely. Karl Palmer has been brilliant, which has kind of overshadowed how good Nicholas Jackson has been as well. You know, he's giving, he's been the one getting on the end of all those passes and really just being quite clinical at such a young age.
Louie Easton: Yeah.
Louie Easton: the There are a couple of Chelsea, sorry, go on, go on.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah. Fantastic. They host Aston Villa. I was going to say, like they host Aston Villa, who I'm a big fan of what Emery's done there. um they They haven't quite clicked over the last few games. If you're a Villa fan, considering where they are right now, Champions League, you know starting to really compete with with the the big clubs, are you worried?
Louie Easton: a little bit defensively. I mean, you know, you've got that quality up front. Ollie Watkins, in my opinion, ah is one of the best players at remaining calm in front of goal. ah He doesn't panic. You know, that I think that match with Palace really could have gone either way as well. um They left themselves exposed at the back and Palace broke twice.
Louie Easton: And, you know, you can say that maybe Villa on another day would have won. I think Leon Bailey had a chance where he was unlucky not to score. um And also there was the penalty that was missed as well. It was never a penalty. Let's be, can we just get that out of the way? Where is he meant to put his foot? um but A good save from Henderson for that.
Louie Easton: But yeah, i'm i'm I'm worried about Villa's defence, definitely. And you know, that I think that's been, you know, conceding twice against Palace as well. At home is a bit worrying.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, I think so. And in the form that Chelsea are in yeah at Stanford Bridge, I see three points for Chelsea, if I'm honest. A few more games to cover off before we wrap things up.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Wolves will have Bournemouth travel to them. I think that's going to be a really interesting game.
Louie Easton: That will...
Global Sports Podcast Network: It's a 3pm kickoff.
Louie Easton: I think that's a fantastic match. It's a shame that one's not on TV. ah Because Wolves were unbelievable against Fulham. You know, Mateusz Cunha.
Louie Easton: Four goals and three assists in his last four games. He got a goal... Was it a goal or two goals? Yeah, he got two brilliant goals um against Fulham.
Louie Easton: That little chip he did on one end and the long ranger. Ah, he's just... i You can tell he's Brazilian, can't you?
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oh, do you know what? Those people, you know, talked about that long range effort. I thought that chip was just beautiful.
Louie Easton: so The control, he doesn't panic.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Oh, that touch.
Louie Easton: it The touch, that you know, it reminded me a bit of Madison's goal as well against City, the second one. You know, getting it for getting it in that sort of pocket just left with the goal and chipping, remaining calm.
Louie Easton: I think he is going to be a special, special player, Mateusz Kunjia. I know he's not that young, but you know, someone's going to buy him and he's just going to do incredibly well for
Global Sports Podcast Network: Hmm.
Louie Easton: What probably one of the European giants I can definitely say especially considering the fact that he's Brazilian and he has that You know Brazil seem to have that following in football
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: Um, ah bring a lot of PR to your club as well. Uh, but yeah, what's a player Mateusz Konye? He has been phenomenal. Um, and without him, I think wolves are lower down on the table. That goes without saying, uh, as for Bournemouth, maybe a bit unlucky, uh, to lose, but Brighton were brilliant and well Bournemouth just didn't have the quality to match them on the day. But.
Louie Easton: it could go either way, especially if they want to be looking at ah moving up in the table as well, wolves you know just one ah on the same point as Ipswich, ah only above by goal difference, they want to start you know picking off Leicester and Everton. Bournemouth, they're in the sort of group of teams, same points as West Ham, could be looking to move above Manchester United with a win maybe,
Louie Easton: it It's a big one for that sort of a mid table to relegation zone pocket of the table.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and as you say, real shame that one isn't being televised, because I think that'd be really tasty. A few of the other 3 p .m .s on the Saturday, we've got Forrest and Ipswich. Again, looks like ah an interesting battle.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Forrest have really impressed me this season so far. ah Chris Wood has has been outstanding. But, yeah, they've, I mean, they beat Liverpool, and Liverpool have been really flying this season.
Louie Easton: Only team to beat Liverpool this season, may I just add.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yep. Yes, so...
Louie Easton: um And not not to mention their goalkeeper Matt Sells. He has been a brilliant goalkeeper, really going sort of under the radar. And seventh, you know, on the same points as Spurs and Villa.
Louie Easton: So that's a ah big weekend for those three teams. um Yeah, forests, I think, were just outclassed against Arsenal and there's no shame in that.
Louie Easton: ah Arsenal were just unbelievable and they should definitely pick up some points against Ipswich.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: Ipswich just do not have the quality um and yeah, you know, Forest, I just, they had some good moments, you know, Ola Aina on the right wing back position running up that right wing and crossing it to Hudson or Doy maybe could have been a goal on another day. um I just think their problem is Dominguez ah not being calm. He needs to calm down. he wait He gave away that free kick just outside the box for the goal that was disallowed.
Louie Easton: Um, he, he, he needs to compose himself because he's been, he's been sent off earlier this season. Remember earlier in the season, I think it might've been against Lester when he was on a yellow card and just dived into a tackle recklessly.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yes. Hmm.
Louie Easton: I think that's, uh, you know, you can't, you need to be more street wise, especially in defense, but they have had some brilliant, uh, defensive displays this season.
Louie Easton: Morillo, I think has been one of their best players this season. And um i can't I can't really say that I watched much of that Ipswich Manchester United match because I put it on during the second half and it was one of the most boring things I've ever seen. you know ah Man United trying to pass it back and not being able to break the midfield.
Louie Easton: um But, you know, very good ah display for them to pick up the points with a massive club like Manchester United.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Louie Easton: I think if you are told any Ipswich fan a couple of years ago, in a couple of years' time, you'll play against Manchester United at ah Portman Road and pick up a point, I think they would have been buzzing.
Louie Easton: ah But I can't see Ipswich staying up this season, I have to say.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah. No, it's a real shame. It's shades of loot and town about it. I think we're

Global Sports Podcast Network: they're playings They're playing their football and they're sticking to that philosophy, which is admirable, but I don't believe it's enough to save them. um And going away to Forest, I think Forest is just gonna, you know, I don't think they're gonna edge it.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I think they're gonna really knock a few goals past them. Leicester City have sacked Steve Cooper. They go away to Brentford. Brentford, I think, have got the best home record in the league at the moment, if I'm correct.
Louie Easton: Oh, really? Oh, that is interesting.

Louie Easton: And not to mention the fact that they will be ah playing with their new manager, Rude Van Nistelroy, assuming all goes to plan.

Louie Easton: I think that's a weird one. I have to say, you know, Van Nistelroy had, what, two games with Manchester United? Good games, to be fair. But managing Manchester United is very different to managing Leicester because Manchester United have the quality.
Louie Easton: I just don't think they run enough. And some of the facilities at so Carrington are outdated, as we heard Ronaldo exposing that so in that interview with Piers Morgan, but I don't...
Louie Easton: ah We all talk about this new manager bounce. It's been mentioned quite a lot recently, you know, Arna Slott, Ruvan Nistroy at Manchester United.

Louie Easton: I i don't see Leicester picking up points, I have to say. ah They were dreadful against... ah i against Chelsea and they I don't think you can turn that sort of performance around in a week especially going if they if that is true what Brantford have the ah best home record in the league then they have a lot that they need to change before going into this match were you gonna say

Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, shall have I shall have to fact check that, but I'm pretty sure that is the case where people can send their rebuttals in the comments are and or on a postcard and we'll we'll check that out. Let's do a dreadful, dreadfully enough to sack their manager at this point in the season.
Louie Easton: it's ah It's a difficult one because while they weren't playing the best, you can't really sack him first match back after an international break going ah well.
Louie Easton: not going to Chelsea at home against Chelsea. You know, Chelsea were going to win that match regardless. but Let's be honest, it would be a shock if Leicester didn't sir lose that match.

Louie Easton: But the way they performed was dreadful and something does have to change.
Global Sports Podcast Network: yes
Louie Easton: But sacking Steve Cooper and getting in Ruud van Nistoro, I think that's the stressful business really. um and that's not going to change their season. I can't see Leicester staying up if you sack a manager that's had a history of battling it out at the bottom of the table, getting in someone who has no Premier League experience as manager or very little, and expecting things to change.

Louie Easton: That's not that's not how you survive in the Premier League, and I think that's a dreadful decision from the Leicester board. um and And, you know, Lesta, granted they haven't been ah the best team this season, but not in the premieerre they're not in the relegation zone, they're a point off it.

Louie Easton: So, you know, yeah i see i I think Steve Cooper, yeah, I don't think Steve Cooper was doing an awful job, it's just they had a couple of bad performances, but I think they might have been able to scrape a few points off the relegation zone, but I guess we'll never know now.

Global Sports Podcast Network: No, no and absolutely shocking to me as well. ah Palace are at home to Newcastle. Another really interesting game. Newcastle um lost to West Ham on the Monday.
Global Sports Podcast Network: ah Palace seem to be a team where you watch them play and you go, oh, that's a good side. And then you look at where they are on the table, what their results are, and you go, oh, no, they're struggling.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um But I think Newcastle got their work cut out. I can't see them getting out of this rut.
Louie Easton: Hmm, it's it's a strange ah it's It's a difficult match to predict as well this one because um Newcastle bang in the middle of the table 10th. They have had such a strange season because they've been really inconsistent and I think going into that match at home ah you kind of you were really favouring Newcastle to do well. Newcastle's attack ah has been decent this season. ah West Ham's defence hasn't been decent this season and we just
Louie Easton: we they just sort of collapsed against West Ham. Monday night at St James's Park as well, you really fancy Newcastle to get something out of that game. um As for this match against Palace, you know Palace I think have been quite unpredictable but definitely underachieving this season, ah you know, 19th in the table. Who would have thought that before a ball was kicked, especially considering the fact that Palace had such a great end to last season under Glazner.
Louie Easton: they shouldn't sack glasner i think give him a bit more time ah just adjusting to this new team without elise this season uh has been very difficult in south london but uh i can't predict this one because you you favor uh new castle to win you know nine points is above palace but new castle have been a difficult team to predict matches for. But I think meant ah i think Newcastle are a little bit ah lacking of ambition. I personally going to predict something now. I don't think Eddie Howell lost the season and I don't think he should. They need a bit more ambition. They're the richest club in the world and they have just been sort of
Louie Easton: aiming for the top side of the table now. They had Champions League a couple of seasons ago, finishing third in the Premier League. That's the team they should be. Not this sort of 10th placed, oh, might win, might not team. They need to be more ambitious.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, and I think when the new owners came in, there were a lot of ah people on the time side who were like, hang on a second, now it's our time again. We're finally going to get back up to where we belong. And weirdly, I mean, it's time for and um and another discussion. I feel like the dip came as all the talk was around Eddie Howe potentially getting the England job, and it hasn't really changed since then. um There is a new manager at Manchester United, and Manchester United on Sunday will have their first home Premier League game against Everton. Sean Dyche is Everton. I'm a big fan of Sean Dyche. And I said yesterday, you know, as as much as I'm a Liverpool fan, I do not want to see Everton leave this league. I think the league is worse off without Everton.
Louie Easton: I do.

Global Sports Podcast Network: But new manager, the bounce, Old Trafford.
Louie Easton: It's a big one.
Global Sports Podcast Network: It's still Manchester United. and And I don't believe our average got the 11 he'd like to have in the system he likes to play. But like I can see it not just a win for Manchester United, but I think a really big statement win in this match.
Louie Easton: Yeah. The thing is with Everton, they have had, I mean, Everton fans have been frustrated this season, only two points, sorry, not two points, only two wins, 11 points from 12 games. They've had a huge scoring problem. You know, they have had a dreadful November. So they, maybe they can go into this month with a bit more ambition.
Louie Easton: um With Everton, I just think, when is Dominic Calvert -Lewin going to start banging goals in again? He's been missing. ah And it was a really weird match with Brentford. It was never, never a red card for Newagard. Let's just get that out of the way. um Amazing save from Flecken against Calvert -Lewin, so maybe that one was frustrating. But it was really a game for the goalkeepers, nil -nil. Pickford did well, Flecken did well. um But they just need to start banging the goals in.
Louie Easton: And we i you can't really predict a match with a new manager. um Manchester United have the quality, ah coming back off Thursday Night Football as well against Bodo Glimpse and, you know, a start for Malaysia.
Louie Easton: And, OK, do you know the other player that started for the first time in 90 days? I want to see if you get it.

Louie Easton: okay you should have you should have you should have gone for it yeah mason mount uh returning to the starting 11 and i do think that is good because i i know that he's not had the most energy and you know he's not the best offensively but when you play cassimero and erickson as your two holding midfielders that is a problem you know there's not enough legs in there cassimero has had an awful awful time at manchester united and erickson has had his moments but he's been pretty

Louie Easton: inconsistent. ah But, you know, I can see Amorim maybe turning things around, but I think he's a young manager and he didn't think he's much of a motivator and they need a proper motivator when he got players like Rashford playing up front and just gliding around the final third as he does um and starting him up front.
Louie Easton: You know, he's not going to, you can't rely on him to score every week. He may have, maybe a few years ago, but he's proven now that he's not someone who works hard enough. and You know, maybe he can start working with Hoyland, see if he can start scoring some goals. I think he's been quite disrespected and I think he definitely does have potential. We had a decent start to Manchester United, people have forgotten that.
Louie Easton: um But so and yeah if you're a Manchester United fan, you're really hoping that these players start running and start delivering more, ah especially since Manchester United have so much quality and these players are being paid thousands, absolutely thousands every single week.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah. And, and it's actually, you know, I, I said a number of times, not because I wanted to sabotage Manchester United. I feel like Eric Tenharg was the right man for the job, but I absolutely agree.
Global Sports Podcast Network: He was dealing with a squad and the team that just didn't seem to want to play.
Louie Easton: I definitely think so.
Louie Easton: They're a cup team. They're a cup team, Manchester United. And Eric Sinharg, say what you want about him. He won two cups in three years ah for Manchester United. And I think he should have been given more time.
Louie Easton: And I never thought it was the manager as a problem. I just think it was the attitude of the players. You know, they're going to get paid regardless.

Louie Easton: They're thinking that. They're thinking, oh, hold on a second. I'm a star. I'm on 200 grand a week. I can dial it in for a week and then jobs are good and try in the cups and that's what they did and you know the massive highlight unfortunately for us Liverpool fans last season for Manchester United was that 4 -3 winner Old Trafford in extra time when Ahmad Zialo a player who's starting to maybe perform a bit more this season ah scored that last minute winner against us what an awful day that was yeah
