Introduction & Thrill Teaser

00:00:04
Speaker
Sunday! Sunday! Are you ready for the highest and fastest poster in the world? Are you ready for a real thing? This island dares you to come face to face with the beast. The beast. 7,000 feet. You can't hear my voice. The Loch Ness Monster lives. This man can't handle it.
00:00:40
Speaker
Oh, no. Mr. Pop.
00:01:08
Speaker
All riders waiting and on top build Rapture. We are currently experiencing a mechanical issue and you do not know the one. Welcome back. Once again, we are. I hope you all have had a wonderful, wonderful week.

Reflecting on Personal Milestones

00:01:23
Speaker
It's been a, it's been a bit of a wild one for me. It's been up and down and it's been all over the place. Started off decent, went kind of, Hey, and then.
00:01:38
Speaker
Got better. And then what can I, I could just kind of went from day to day. It was a mess, man. Some days were just really damn good. Another days. Uh, weren't so good, but Hey, it was my birthday on Monday. So Monday was pretty damn good. I'll, I'll say that. So happy birthday to me. Uh, I am now officially 20 years old.
00:02:08
Speaker
I have now been alive two decades on this planet, lived about 26% of the average, uh, average male lifespan in America. So that's 76 years old, by the way, in case you were wondering. So, you know, quarter of the way there got 75% more to go. I'm sure only about 25% of that will actually be worth it. But hey, who knows, man?
00:02:35
Speaker
This will be plenty of coasters to ride until the day until the day I die. That wouldn't be. That wouldn't be an awful way to go out, you know. Like just be so brittle. And old. And it's like, you know, I've had a good run, but so instead of laying in a bed. In hospice. I'm going to go hop on.
00:03:05
Speaker
uh the beast on a wheel seat or just any just any wooden coaster on a wheel seat and uh just you know just just pass over okay hold up no no no i just never realized never mind i totally i totally forgot about the voyage um instance that was not directed
00:03:31
Speaker
in towards that. We're going to ignore that. Anyways, welcome back to the single writer podcast, where we unintentionally make jokes that, you know, are offensive, I'm sure, in some way, shape or form. So we're going to very cleanly transition
00:03:56
Speaker
to what I wanted to talk about this week. Of all things, that is park food.

Amusement Park Food Evolution

00:04:03
Speaker
So I don't know if this is just a me thing. While park food has gotten more expensive, I feel like it's also just gotten nicer. And what made me want to talk about this is I went to Kings Island this past weekend.
00:04:25
Speaker
Um, Sunday, the ninth, I went to grain and grill. I walked in there and I'd already been there times before, but the fact that I can go to an amusement park. Which is known for, you know, the greasiest and most sugar and fat filled foods you can think of. I mean.
00:04:54
Speaker
Funnel cakes, fries, burgers, chicken fingers or chicken tenders, whatever you want to call them. Fuck. Ice cream. You know, just everything that the typical American diet needs, you know, because that's what we need more of here in America, more sugar, more fat and more obesity rate skyrocketing.
00:05:25
Speaker
Um, but we're starting to see some healthy options and it's nice. You know, I could, I could walk in there and get Brussels sprouts. I like Brussels sprouts, but so say we go back in time to the late nineties, we show up to an amusement park. How many people there?
00:05:49
Speaker
If you walked up to an enthusiast in late 90s and you said in 10 years, no not in 10 years, in 20 years you'll be able to get healthy food at an amusement park, they would probably say either A, you're crazy or B, just not respond at all. My only issue with having nicer options
00:06:15
Speaker
Okay, well, first off, let me back up, because I'm able to show up to Kings Island, or just a lot of the parks now, because most parks have healthy options. I can go get some food, and I don't feel like a piece of shit afterwards. Because that's what I love to do, you know? I love to get unhealthy food. It tastes good, but then after like two minutes, you feel awful.
00:06:44
Speaker
And I'm going to go walk around on a 87 degree day. Around a amusement park. That sounds like a good time. Sounds wonderful. You feel bloated. You feel slow, you feel sluggish. You know it's not. It's not fun, it's not fun man. But now we have healthy options.
00:07:15
Speaker
You know, I get there, grab me some, uh, some chicken and it's like grilled chicken too. It's not, uh, it's not fried and covered in grease. It's grilled chicken legs and some vegetables and some water. And it tastes good. It's not dry. It's not.
00:07:41
Speaker
Okay, let me take that back from from grating grill anyways it kicks out I have net I have yet to have it be dry The Brussels sprouts taste good and you couldn't have yourself a nice glass of water because they give you decent sized water cups there I take that back. Never mind. It's on my drink plant. They still have the little shot glasses for the water cups there. But anyways You know, I don't feel Awful and I know I'm not the only one who
00:08:11
Speaker
who feels this way because I was there with some friends. Uh, shout out to Chris and we were kind of discussing that as well. How, you know, it's the hell. Sorry. There was, I think I heard like a dog barking, but it was like incredibly loud. And I typically don't hear, I don't know,
00:08:40
Speaker
It's just a little strange for how my apartment is. If you lived here, you would understand. Anyways, but yeah, shout out to Chris. Glad I got to see you, man. I spent some time with you. But we were discussing that a little bit about how, you know, healthy options are just becoming more prevalent and more popular. And I think as much as the obesity rate has skyrocketed here in America and just in the world, you know, there's still some promise. People are
00:09:09
Speaker
not are gonna be given the option, at least. Here's my thing. And if this makes some people upset, then sure. Let me make some exceptions first. Unless you are pregnant, there are some mental issues going on or there are some physical issues going on because those make total sense. And if you have those, then this does not apply to you.
00:09:39
Speaker
However, if you don't have those going on, there is nothing stopping you from from eating healthy. There's just nothing. There's nothing stopping you. Does it take some willpower? Yeah, does it take some determination? Yeah, but it's not impossible.
00:10:04
Speaker
You can find meal plans on YouTube where you can make you can feed yourself lunch and dinner for like three or four dollars a day by by prepping your meals and taking them with you. And it's healthy. It's it's all healthy. So being able to have these options now is super nice and I'm glad we have them.
00:10:34
Speaker
Cause it's, it's sad to see really with the way food has destroyed us. You know, there's a lot of, we have so many more issues physically and mentally because of food.
00:10:53
Speaker
And I'm not saying like, oh, return back to the absolute grassroots. We're only eating corn and rice and whatever we can hunt with our with our spears and sticks. But, you know. Taking care of yourself. We should do it more often. All right. Health message over. That was very convoluted and there wasn't really any structure to that, but I just kind of felt like ranting. About that, because it's important, you know,
00:11:23
Speaker
I want you guys, I was just talking about how I'm 26% through the average lifespan. I want to live longer than 76 years from being honest with you. I like to live into my 80s or 90s. And this requires eating healthy, going to the gym, staying active so that I'm not saying stuff can't happen.
00:11:54
Speaker
You guys get what I'm saying. You want to take care of yourself and, you know, not do anything stupid. All right. I got back off track. Rants for now. Emphasis on for now over. We got some news to cover.

New Coaster Concepts & Developments

00:12:11
Speaker
We got quite a bit. Let's get through this. I'm not going to rush. I've got no reason to rush.
00:12:19
Speaker
Canada's Wonderland, oh boy, has some markers around. I don't know where exactly. There is some well put together YouTube videos that you could go look for those. And they released concept art for potential coasters coming to the park, like coaster ideas.
00:12:45
Speaker
We've got three different ideas here, um, that they've put out. So if you haven't looked at these, they're pretty easy to find. Uh, I'm just typing canvas, one million concept art. The first one is what appears to be a wing coaster coming out of the mountain.
00:13:07
Speaker
With like fire coming up like volcano used to. So that's just a massive fuck you to King is Dominion. Like yeah, we're just going to make volcano a B&M wing and we're going to. We're going to put. That can as one million action. That's not a B&M way. I took that back from this concept or it looks like a B&M invert. That's what it looks like.
00:13:32
Speaker
How accurate that actually is, I don't know, because I'm seeing a zero G roll and that's yeah, that's an invert. OK. I like the idea. Keep the waterfall, but also like the volcano type thing, I think volcano. I never got to write it, but the concept of it was so well done, it was just ahead of its time. I feel like if that were redone today, it would not have as many issues, if any. So. You know.
00:14:03
Speaker
If we say smack my microphone, if we get a, another volcano type ride, I am not going to complain and it gives me one more excuse to go to Canada. Um, we'll gladly take an invert coming out of the mountain. Uh, they also showed off for their second concept are a wing coaster. That's like concert themed.
00:14:30
Speaker
I really don't know how to feel about this. I don't know if it's concert themed or like more like a rave. I would prefer a rave because concerts are fun and I like them, but I feel like EDM music and the whole like, livelihood around.
00:14:49
Speaker
the lighting effects at raves and the neon and the costumes and that sort of thing. I think that would just work far better for a roller coaster theme. Again, it's a bit strange. Why would you? Somebody sat in a boardroom. It was like, yeah, this is a good idea. I'm sure there's more to this we don't know about, but, you know, somebody somebody sat down
00:15:17
Speaker
and said, yeah, we should do this. So how are you going to make a wing coaster concert themed? I don't know. Good question. If they do go this route, though, I'd like to see what they try because I think that would be. Be interesting. Again, only if it were EDM music, though, because I am a sucker for some good dance music.
00:15:45
Speaker
And then the third one they show is a wooden coaster. What looks like Zambezi zinger. It's not a Zambezi zinger, but it sure does look like it. And looking at this concept are I could be wrong. But from what I'm seeing, it looks like it. Hmm, sorry, it looks like it has an inversion in it to inversions.
00:16:16
Speaker
So a GCI Titan track with inversions in it with it so we'd get an actually decent. Inverting wooden coaster, I trust GCI. If there's any company that's going to do an inverting wooden coaster, it's RMC or GCI. And considering Titan track is. You know, basically. It's like I'm going to say it's GCI's future, but as far as inversions go, I would say it's their future.
00:16:47
Speaker
Not going to complain. I wouldn't mind it, but I would prefer the wing. I think a wing would work way better. I can as Wonderland at Canada's Wonderland. Compared to an invert. Now, if they have a wing coaster, go out of the volcano, that would be. That would be pretty damn cool. I would I would not be opposed to that whatsoever.
00:17:16
Speaker
So, well, is Wonder Mountains Guardian going to be gone? If they do that. I mean, maybe I hope not, but maybe I don't see. I don't see how they could keep it. Like, because having a fucking roller coaster go through the mountain, that's going to take up a lot of space. So. We'll see.
00:17:46
Speaker
I guess? I don't know. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best, and I'm sure we will find out more about this in the future. All right, up next, new dragster track is being put down on the brake run. Wonderful. So that's your dragster update for the week. All right, on to the next thing. I'm kidding.
00:18:17
Speaker
It does have magnetic fins on it for the brakes. So people who have analyzed them
00:18:28
Speaker
We're pretty much confirmed Zamperla. The shipping labels have Zamperla all over them. The brakes on the track mash up with the lightning trains. If this isn't Zamperla, I'm gonna be floored. I would say it's 99.9% most likely Zamperla. So.
00:18:55
Speaker
get more painting done as well. They've started on the top hat. It is looking beautiful. I'm hoping to get down there either this Sunday or the Sunday after with my girlfriend and take a look at it in person. Cedar Point has been dropping consistent like teasers on Twitter and that sort of thing. So good to see the park finally acknowledging it.
00:19:20
Speaker
Good to see, good to see. There's not really a whole lot else there to talk about. I mean, progress is coming along nicely. And I will keep you up to date on anything that happens. Fury!
00:19:34
Speaker
You guys remember that whole thing that happened a week ago? So the area is an area fenced off in the parking lot for where the new. Support is going to go so they can get it installed so.
00:19:58
Speaker
Cool to see. They're making quick progress with this thing. I mean, it's been a week and, uh, you know, they're already getting the parts in to make sure I would, they will probably have this thing up before care before scarawans starts up. I would be floored if it's not because they are busting their ass to get this thing up and going because fury missed fourth of July, which is their
00:20:28
Speaker
Biggest, one of their biggest.
00:20:33
Speaker
you know, events of the year, basically. I know it's their 50th, but you know, 4th of July is huge during the summer. Labor Day is huge towards like the end of the summer season. And then you get scarowinds and then you're pretty much done. I know carowinds is all year round now, but I mean, for your major money makers for the park, that's what you're looking at.
00:20:58
Speaker
So good to see glad Fury is getting the love it deserves. Fast and furious coaster construction begins at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Theme Park Ride Announcements

00:21:12
Speaker
Wow. Not a whole lot was said about this. They said it will be equipped with a state of the art ride system uniquely created to engulf guests within the dynamic fast and furious universe.
00:21:27
Speaker
I have never watched a Fast and Furious movie in my entire life. So, I think there's not really a whole lot I can say here. I know everybody who has been to Universal says that Supercharged or Universal Orlando says Supercharged sucks. So, or whatever that ride is. So glad to see they're at least doing something decent. If this is not a launch coaster,
00:21:55
Speaker
I'm going to be surprised. A launch coaster would work so well for this. Ooh, if they did something like West Coast Racers, where you actually kind of go against each other, that would be a lot of fun.
00:22:09
Speaker
Are they going to do that? Probably not, considering they're going to have a uniquely created ride system or sorry, no, no, no, no, I misquoted them. A state of the art ride system, you uniquely created to engulf guests within the dynamic of fast and furious universe. So. You know, whatever that means, I'm not a universal PR person.
00:22:40
Speaker
Warner Brothers Movie World in Australia announced the Flash Speed Force Multi Launch Intamin Halfpipe. It's going to open next year. It's the Intamin Surf Rider model. It looks OK. I mean, it's a it's all right. It's a shuttle coaster. It's just, you know, essentially a giant half pipe.
00:23:07
Speaker
that it's 270 feet long, I think. So, you know, if you want to get out to Australia to get on Speed Force, or if you live in Australia, then at me on Twitter, let me know. Let me know what you think. I mean, I'm sure it's nothing special. They're putting it right in the middle of Superman the Escape.
00:23:34
Speaker
I believe that's the name of their Intamin mega coaster there. But, you know, we'll. We'll see. As far as as far as Intamin goes, I feel like. I almost said we haven't seen enough of them recently, but we have we have seen Intamin kicking some ass recently. I mean, we've seen Pantheon, we've seen Velocicoaster.
00:24:02
Speaker
why we haven't seen more coasters like that in the United States is beyond me. Because those two rides get tons and tons and tons of praise, more so the loss of coaster, obviously, but because I think the theming has something to do with that. I haven't been on it, but. Hoping to get on it here in the relatively near future. Intimate man.
00:24:28
Speaker
Pushing the limits.

Intamin's Coaster Innovations

00:24:30
Speaker
I like it. I like to see it. Not with this. Not with the half pipe. Shuttle coaster. That's not pushing the limits. I mean, it's you got to have your smaller stuff, though, you know. You can't just do tall as fast as long as those kick ass rides every time. You got to have a few. More, more chilled out. Relaxed vibes, you know.
00:24:59
Speaker
and uh just just kind of rest up a little you know do something easy just a little shuttle coaster a little back and forth it is friday the 14th if only it were the 13th darn when i'm recording this at 12 26 am i hope you all have a great weekend i'm gonna go ahead and wrap things up here
00:25:27
Speaker
Um, enjoy the weekend, get out there, right. Uh, right. A few roller coasters, except fury because that's closed. Obviously. Don't watch roller coaster YouTube, um, especially, especially, uh, people who make videos about dragster all the time.
00:25:52
Speaker
I say that as somebody who posts stuff about or who talks about dragster nearly every week. And, you know, support the good content creators, not the bad ones. I'll let you I'll let you determine who that is. I have a general idea, but I'm not going to I'm not going to call anybody out.
00:26:12
Speaker
I hope you all have a great weekend. We will see you next week and until, uh, God, I don't even know my own out. I don't even know my own outro yet, man. I, I know it. I just can't even, I can't even say it. I'm so fucking tired. I've been up since six yesterday AM.

Conclusion & Sign-Off

00:26:36
Speaker
So that's, that's fun.
00:26:41
Speaker
All right, I'm gonna go to bed. I have work in the morning. We will see you next time in the single rider line.
