Welcome to Chatsunami, a Scottish variety podcast that discusses topics from gaming and films to anime and general interest. Join me, your host, Satsunami, as well as the rest of our Chatsunami team for our takes on these very important pop culture topics. Sir, it's clearly a trap. I accept copyright! That happens three times in the film. Every time that general goes, don't do this one thing, he goes, do you know what I'm gonna do? That's exactly...

It doesn't well. She had the pointy teeth. What was that about? She looked like Bilbo when he wants the ring back. She did, didn't she? I just want the lightsaber one more time. Parasite says, no, you will get back into your office and work. No, says the man in Zoom. yeah Trousers are for the working man. You're bursting into your hotel room. Honey, we need to go.

Honestly, i have been railing from this news all day, and I just want to give a huge shout out to all of you out there listening. and Your support means the absolute world to me, and when I started this show during the 2020 pandemic, I had no idea where it would end up, but honestly, i have loved every moment of it, so thank you all so, so much. But if you thought the good news ends there, are then I'm afraid I've got another surprise

KaijuCon Glasgow Announcement

for you all. Because the other major news that have is that I am also happy to confirm that I will also be attending KaijuCon over in the Glasgow SAC this weekend on Saturday the 16th of May as a content creator. And let me tell you, if you're an anime fan, then this is the place to be. Of course I want to give a huge shout out to the organizers Fan Frontiers for inviting me back. Absolutely love doing these cons, it's always a blast. So starting off, you might be wondering what can you expect going to Kaiju Con? I'm pleased to say that there is a whole host of activities in store. Starting off, there's going to be a silent K-pop disco, aka what I probably look like with my AirPods in while I'm doing the shopping. Trust me, I can't get soda pop out my head, but that's another story. There is also an abundance of cosplay opportunities where you can show off the fruits of your cosplay crunching. One thing that's also very cool as well is that there's a calligraphy workshop going on that runs for roughly around 45 minutes to an hour, with the first one starting at half 10 in the morning and then the last session kicking off at half 2.
00:03:08
Speaker
Be sure not to miss that because it looks really cool. And let me tell you, as someone who's tried doing calligraphy like that before, It is a lot harder than you think. And before anyone wonders, yes I do have photographic evidence, and no, I will not be putting it up on the Patreon. There will also be staple fan frontier areas returning this year, such as the tabletop gaming area, a retro gaming section, and last but certainly not least, A face painting section for the younger Pandalurians out there. But for those who are aged 18 and over, who are worried that one Saturday con is just too short, then rest assured the party doesn't stop there, as Strathclyde Union is once again and hosting an after party. which begins at 7pm and then ends at 11pm. Tickets are on sale now for around ยฃ5, so be sure not to miss out if that's your kind of thing. As always, a lot of the events are in a time schedule, so be sure to refer back to the show guides for timings and please be on time. For more information, you can check out the guide at forthefans.uk. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone does that to see what else you might be missing out

Vendor and Artist Alley at KaijuCon

on. But you know what else you can take your time with? That's right, the vendors and artists alley, which is honestly the highlight of any Comic Con. And for any artists going on Saturday that want to have a brief chat in the day, then please feel free to reach out and let me know, and I'll happily swing by your table to check out your stuff and maybe even grab a quick interview. so please feel free to let me know. As always, I will be the guy running around in a Chatsunami hoodie. I'm very hard

Safety and Hydration Tips for KaijuCon

to miss. Now, of course, we have to get to the more serious part of the episode, which is, of course, where I urge you all to stay safe, awesome, um and most importantly, stay hydrated at the event. So reading from the show guide itself, here are a bunch ah of do's, don'ts and how to stay safe at the con. Let's kick off with the more positive do's. Have your ticket downloaded and ready for going in? Don't forget to wear comfy shoes and take breaks if you need to. Because trust me, if you're going to be walking for hours on end looking at all the cool things in Artist Alley, you're going to need a good pair of shoes. Bring a water bottle and some snacks, which here at Chatsunami... is a big old approve. Bring a portable charger and charging cable with you, which again is so important for keeping in contact with any friend groups that you might have. And in general, just having a topped up phone so that you can take lots of pictures of the event. Don't forget to wear anti-perspirant deodorant. Treat others, of course, with kindness and respect. Ask before taking photos of anybody. Look out for one another if you're in a group, and most importantly, ask staff for help if you need it. Now this brings me on to the advice for staying safe at the con. As always, Fan Frontier does an excellent job of using the Ask for Angela system, where if you need help from a member of the Fan Frontier staff, you can go up to them and ask them if they know where I'm Angela is, and they'll be able to support you discreetly. The other thing is about meeting friends, where the other thing is of course meeting friends, where the con has advised not to meet new people alone. So if you are going to meet new friends at Comic Con, then please stay within the SEC grounds, and if you are uncomfortable or you're not sure about the situation, once again go to the staff members who are clearly marked out and they'll be able to help. Also, as I was saying before, you have to stay connected, especially if you're in a big group, ring a power bank and set a meeting point if you get separated from your group, that is very important to remember. There are also quiet spaces which are available on the floor plan of the show guide, so check that out, or the worst case scenario, feel free to ask a member of staff and they'll be able to help.
00:06:45
Speaker
There are are also ear defenders which are available at the information desk. Please go check that out if you need them. And at last but certainly not least, feel free to bring a refillable bottle where you can fill up at free water stations. And also feel free to bring snacks or even, of course, buy food in sight. The main thing is that you are staying hydrated, that you have enough fuel to go around all the different stalls and things. Genuinely, just keep yourself safe, guys. And finally we have the don'ts of

Cosplay Guidelines at KaijuCon

00:07:16
Speaker
KaijuCon. So first off, and this is very important to all the cosplayers out there, do not forget to read their prop rules if you are cosplaying with a large prop or weapon. This is a very important issue because the staff want to make sure everyone's safe, they want to make sure you're safe, so please if you have any questions about props or whatnot, definitely go check out the staff or get in contact with the con itself. Don't miss out on scheduling as well. As I was saying, check out the timetable and definitely set alarms so you don't miss out on your favourite panels. Most importantly, never meet someone that you don't know alone. If you're going to meet them in groups, then that's okay, but also make sure that you're doing it within the SEC grounds, where it's a safe environment, and if you don't feel comfortable, you can at least turn to the staff. This is another important one, and don't take a photo of a person who is resting or eating, if feel free to find them later if they're wandering around the con, but let's face it, no one wants a picture of a cosplayer, you know, in the middle of eating or whatever, just remember to be courteous. and last but certainly not least as I was saying do not be rude to anyone because they're cosplaying as a character that you don't like. Now I know there's a lot of passionate fans out there about this anime and that anime or show or game or really whatever but it is no excuse if you don't like the character do not take it out on the person because at the end of the day they are a cosplayer they are a human behind the costume they are not that character so yeah Just to recap, KaijuCon is going to be taking place this Saturday on May the 16th at the Glasgow SEC. For more information, check out www.forthefans.uk where you can download things like the timetables for events, the show guides, and really what else is going on at the convention, so definitely go check that out if you haven't already.
