You know, we straight to the straight to the P. me 76 bringing us in episode number 199. Up straight to the point. My name is Chris. Here are my god. What up? What up? What up? What up? And yes, for those who are wondering, are Mike still work? Our podcast is still active. Life be lifing. He said like Chris just be busy. Chris be busy.
00:00:57
Speaker
Amen. Life's be life. And like I said, I just had an eye surgery and I was still ready. Don't be like, you're going to be busy. Come on, man. Come on, man. Come on. I do. No, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a hard worker, man. Busy, big, but we're going to talk about some other guys

NFL Coaching Vacancies

00:01:16
Speaker
jobs. We're going to talk about the NFL head coach and vacancies and one vacancy that just got filled.
00:01:21
Speaker
and what they may do in New England. We're going to talk about Dallas and Jacksonville and Vegas and all these other spots that need coaches and who they may potentially bring in.
00:01:33
Speaker
We're going to talk a little bit about the NBA and we're going to talk a little bit about the NFL playoffs, what we saw during wild card weekend, some of the overreactions from the media. We're going to talk about that and what we see and make predictions and things of that nature. But Jared, let's start in New England as they hire Mike Vrabel, a former player for theirs, ah to be their head coach, replacing Gerard Mayo.
00:01:59
Speaker
He played for New England from 01 to 08. He's formerly the Texans defensive coordinator, Titans head coach, and was on the Brown staff this past year. Jared, a lot of people are talking about the bringing back of Rabel by extension is bringing back some of that Patriot way that Belichick made famous for 20 years. Do we expect a quick turnaround in New England under Rabel? No. No.
00:02:31
Speaker
Um, two season, two seasons is going to take at least two seasons. now Not even two. I mean, so let me ask you this. so Let me ask you to we had that come in, sign on knowing it's going to take time to get it right. They have the cap space. So they don't have the talent, but they have to cap space. They have the quarterback. We'll see. Um, I think it depends on who they pregnant as an ah offensive coordinator. Just some names is being floated around there.
00:02:58
Speaker
Do they bring, do they bring in Tommy Reese, who is the Browns offensive coordinator? Ray will work with the Browns this year. So we're just living familiarity there. yeah um yourre you Josh McDaniels is being brought up maybe as a third time as offensive coordinator. Now, before you poo poo McDaniels, I'm kind of in favor of it.
00:03:23
Speaker
I'm not, I'm not

Patriots' Future with Vrabel and Offensive Challenges

00:03:24
Speaker
bringing him back. I think he, let me eat but let me not drink may's potential. I don't think so. I don't think so because here, hear, hear me out. The one year he had Mack Jones was the one year everyone thought Mack Jones was competent. Mack Jones made the pro bowl as an alternate, but he made the pro bowl. He was in the running for offensive player of the year. Like he had potential and big Daniels knows how to run an offense. He may not know how to run a team.
00:03:52
Speaker
but he can at least run an offense and coach an offense. And I think he would do well with Drake May and not have to worry about anything else, but install the offense and make sure it's effective because their offense last year stunk and their offenses after McDaniels has left have all stunk. So at least he's familiar with the area. He knows the system. He knows the, you know, he knows the people and by people, I mean the ownership in the front office. He knows Vrable.
00:04:22
Speaker
Like, I think that would be, and he's not a threat to take Vrable's job because I don't think anyone's willing to give McDaniels another shot as a head coach. So, of those, of of the two candidates, you know, Reese and McDaniels, I like McDaniels more, but Jared, you know, Vrable had had some success in in Tennessee. Tennessee hasn't really recovered since Vrable left.
00:04:47
Speaker
54 and 45 record. I think Rabel can turn it around. I think two years is more than enough time. I wouldn't be shocked if you didn't see, especially if they bring in McDaniels, they have a guy who who understands the defense or the offense. You have Rabel, I would be shocked that this team looked as bad next year as they did under Gerard Mayo this year. I wouldn't be shocked. It'd be more so who do they bring in, right? Who are you bringing in? Because if you bring in the ah ah Daniels or any offensive coordinator like if ben johns becomes a heck of way who the guys are just civil you bringing it in well free ben jo Ben Johnson free agent wise, right? Who, who do you go after? Why receiver? Because if you, you know, it wasn't probably Ken you're born, I wouldn't even bring them back.
00:05:32
Speaker
If you bring in a headache, that's Deontay Johnson. And a headache, as you know, he's just becoming a headache now this season because of what he believes his talent is and who he believes he is as a person to what other teams have seen for him. You have T Higgins, but I doubt the Bengals let T Higgins walk. I really doubt it. Like, at this point, we're going to fight for his tag and for the 26 million. You're not still for his tag and for the 26 million. I would. I'd still for an attack and say, you know what? You're stuck again. Like, 26 million is 26 million.
00:06:01
Speaker
Chris Godwin, do you do it? Doubtful. Uh, Mark Cooper, do you bring him? He's 31 years old, but he's kind of fell off, right? i mean and aller won and he's in And you're bringing him in from a division rival. with bob do they like And I feel like they're going to bring, if I'm Buffalo, I'm bringing Mark cooper back to be honest. I really am. He's helped open up that field for them. Yeah. He might not see the target share, but teams are looking out for him. Mark. He's Brown, 20 years old.
00:06:28
Speaker
but he was injured on a proven deal. Does he have the postseason you want to be like, oh, I'm gonna bring him in now from the Chiefs to the Patriots. De'Andre Hopkins, Casey, 33 years old. If Casey doesn't really do it this year, he's like, he was now he's just hunting out. And then it fell to hunt out, like to find what teams you can get paid with. Diggs, find Diggs 32, but now he's coming off ACL injury. Do you bring him in? Josh Palmer, Elijah Mora, these are guys I'm like, they're not,
00:06:57
Speaker
reshaping or helping you win or are winning games next season. Devante Adams will be a name I could consider. He'd be leaving a division rival because obviously I think just going to cut them. The same way they're going to do a ride, they're going to cut them. And if they likely cut them, he's available. Christian Kirk possibly available.
00:07:17
Speaker
and though i' ever seen Hold on, sir. I want to push back on the Devontae thing. I don't think if you're bringing in McDaniel's, I don't think you're bringing Devontae. I don't think he would want to go back for McDaniel's. and So then you're out. Then you're really out on the receivers unless you draft one, which is fine. There's some talented receivers in this draft class. Titan wise, they're good, right? I'm not looking at the Titans running backs. You could always upgrade.
00:07:39
Speaker
Right from a reminder Stevenson, but it's not really much of an upgrade in this offseason. It really isn't unless you're telling me you think you can get it Aaron Jones or you think you're going to get JK Dobbins or you think bringing in the Najee Harris is any different than a reminder Stevens. I'm just keeping up.
00:07:55
Speaker
So then where do you go? Defense, offensive line, like they have a solid offensive line. So now we look at the offensive lines, the defense is good.
00:08:17
Speaker
start too but It doesn't here's here's the thing of here's the problem with New England, right? And you mentioned that their offensive line is good. Your office line is not good. Your office line gets no push. They can't run the ball It's not like Rama Andre Stevenson suddenly forgot how to play Like the offensive line can't get any push. they They lose the line of scrimmage all the time Because there's a bad office a lot of the season Patriots was they was in the bottom, but they was like 20 down by way they were still in the top 20 conversation. It wasn't the worst
00:08:50
Speaker
So it can be better, yes. But if I'm looking to spend big money on what this team truly, truly needs, yeah, Office of Line would be great, but I'm not gonna break the heavy little bank that they need right now, where I'm like, yo, you have no Y receiver to speak of.

Jets' Coaching Instability

00:09:03
Speaker
None. Like, Chris, you can name me three right now, go ahead. Oh, Y receiver's on New England? Right now, go ahead. ah Booty.
00:09:14
Speaker
um That's not even his name. Caitlin Booty from LSU. Bootay. What a booty. I see words. Caitlin Booty, Caitlin Polk, Hunter Henry. OK. Trash. The Hunter Henry is a tight end, sir. He catch the ball enough he ever see. That's bad. And hold on. Let me push back on your point. According to PFF, the number one source of all rankings in the NFL,
00:09:45
Speaker
The 32nd ranked offensive line is the New England Patriots. Yikes. They're terrible. So once again, ladies and gentlemen, Jared, just out here, spreading lies and misinformation. 32 is terrible. 32 is the worst. 32. I think they'll get themselves a... Anybody. Kevin Jenkins. Yeah, they can go get some Jatrey Smith. Anybody. Anybody. You got plenty of money. Go upgrade that team.
00:10:11
Speaker
And then like the defense wise, they can dance. A lot of guys that are slept on in this defense. Um, the only, the only guy that steps on their defense is Christian Gonzalez. Everybody else. No, no, no, no, no. I'm talking about free agency wise. They don't even, they're given the socks because I was the best different way they have. Cause they already let judon go after that. They don't want nothing, but you could bring in some talent, old or young, like.
00:10:36
Speaker
He's available. They have plenty of options. If they go after Hassan Reddick, Joshua's available. john yeah jason They have options and especially with a guy like Vrable, who can coach defense and and get guys motivated. I think their defense would be much improved if they go out and the team will be much improved if they spend a little bit of their cap. Now, Zac Brown will be available. Zac Brown will not be available. lets but year but you look at a guy like variable, I think it, this signifies not ah a return to form for new England. Like, I don't think they're automatically going to be like the dynasty 2.0, but I think that they'll, they won't be the worst team in football. And like the slot that they put out there on both sides of the ball will be hopefully improved when they bring in a cohesive guy, like variable front office gets improved.
00:11:32
Speaker
they have options and and and opportunity there. But Jared, let's talk about another team with, I guess you could say it's options. Bless you. Maybe so much, not the opportunity in that division, the New York Jets, who are also looking for a head coach. There's plenty of names. That's, that's, bless you. Are you allergic to the Jets? Yes, trash. So
00:12:00
Speaker
When you look at a a team like the Jets, right? Who for the longest time is like the ah poster child of what not to do as an organization. yeah They had Rex Ryan at one point in time. Maybe they're bringing back Rex Ryan. He did interview. He's pushing heavy for that job. Do it. Do they bring in a Pete Carroll? No. Do they bring in, um, you know, they had interviews with Aaron Glenn. They had.
00:12:29
Speaker
They have options, but who really wants to, like the thing about knowing, and then we talked about knowing and they have, you know, the, the cap space and the structure or from the, from the ownership and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Jets have none of that. Jets have dysfunction. Jets have poor ownership. and Don't forget their owners were taken.
00:12:48
Speaker
Advice from Madden readings. Okay. Yeah. Playing real life franchise mode. The retooling is like terrible. it's It's bad in that franchise right now. It's so bad. Like what are y'all doing? There's no direction. There is just a golden hand holding. Woody Johnson's either son or grandson is looking at Madden like, yo, yeah, they they speed rating ain't that good. You might not want them versus the scouting department that you pay money to guys whose jobs it is to go out there and find talent and bring talent and evaluate talent.
00:13:18
Speaker
and you're using Madden, a game that has sucked forever, by the way. and so let's So let's sit here and and and really dissect the jets. Who would or who should be interested in this job?

Coaching Opportunities Across NFL

00:13:34
Speaker
Honestly, I wouldn't. If I'm Pete Carroll, I'm not interested. I'd rather take the Jaguars job if I'm Pete Carroll. If I'm Pete Carroll, I'm eyeballing that Bears job. Yeah, I'm looking at that too. Akil Williams, I am looking at that too. Get you the Bears job, get you an offensive coordinator.
00:13:49
Speaker
you know, develop Caleb. I mean, Pete's like 72 himself. Maybe you get some guy that you you groom him to be your successor. and there's only There's only two jobs I'm looking at from Pete Carroll. It's Jags or Bears because they have more promise, more upside than in the Jets. The Jets don't have any upside.
00:14:06
Speaker
Cowboys, you take the Cowboys off you, Pico? No, because there's no control. There's no authority. There's no power. There is authority, but it's not you. I'm not sure. So like, no, I'm not, I'm not taking, like, that's why, like, for instance, if I'm killing more, I'm considering the Cowboys out because I've already been there. I know how to, I know how to work with Jerry Jones. I know how to get the best at a deck. I know how to, like, if, if I'm taking interviews, I'm kind of more, that's like, I can see why he would go, right?
00:14:31
Speaker
Because you know, you know what you're getting out of that job, you know what you're going to get as a head coach there with Jerry Jones, that coach your peak care who's had a lot more freedom, a lot more control out of your franchise, out of your ownership. You're not going to be put on a tight leash. You're not going to do that. And you can be like, oh, Mike McCarthy wasn't a tennis. He was my McCarthy was on a tight rope. He had to walk. He had to tell the line.
00:14:54
Speaker
play Like the team was just like as a head coach the play calling was just is what it did. It was bad He is and I himself as was a bad Making all the bad play calls Just hiring was never really up to him who they brought in who they didn't bring back wasn't up to him Like he really only thing he had control was hey making sure guys weren't practicing on time and getting on the bus on time And that's that's hard to say but that's really what it is I don't care what Michael Parley let him say what his pedigree was I didn't like the roster construction feel like you had none of Mike McCarthy's emphasis. Of course not. He's not. He's not the team president, general manager, and owner. And one man. Hold on. Hold on, Jared. One man is the president, general manager, and owner of the Dallas Cowboys.
00:15:38
Speaker
one man. I'm I'm pica I'm not doing it. He should be. and He should be. He should add a fourth title to his already long title and just name himself head coach and he could go out during the summer and Al Davis sit up. He's out Davis at the end with the Raiders. good Just just just don't think about it. When before Al Davis died, the Raiders had stunk basically from tough, tough rule game on. They got the ass kicked in the in the Super Bowl in O2 against Tampa Bay.
00:16:09
Speaker
and has stunk ever since. So that's what 20, 23 years they stunk. yeah Cowboys right there. Cowboys right there in dysfunction. Yeah, they've had they've had winning seasons and they've made the playoffs a couple of times and in those last, in the between 2025 and 95. But in that 30 year period, they've basically done nothing. I'm not yeah i'm not taking that job.
00:16:39
Speaker
I'm not taking that job. That job is for that job. That job will end up being taken over by. I mean, I'm not taking a gesture. What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? What's going on? You're not taking the cowboy job. You're not taking the just job. We know for a fact that you should really only consider the bears and jaguars if What's you're in going on? contention for those jobs. Like, we don't know yet. If I'm Pete Carroll, I'm considering the Raiders job. Heavily. Oh, I would. I would do that, too, because they have a lot more promise in my opinion. They do. Not even because they got promise. Well, that's the only way to do that.
00:17:27
Speaker
Raiders need Raiders need stability. Raiders need a guy who can come in and. Yeah, but you're not going to be head coach to lose. No, but you're I mean, if he wants to be, which one of these teams is, I mean, outside of Dallas and maybe, maybe New Orleans, which one of these teams is like, are you plug and play and you ready to go? The Bears and the Giants, you can start winning. Bears and Bears need work. Bears need work. Maybe not the Bears because that division is. Bears need work. The Giants, you can come in and start winning.
00:17:57
Speaker
You can let the vision sucks like no other. You already have a quarterback locked in place where at this point I don't know what is the quarterback is any good. Is the quarterback of he's good tre war is good. I don't think I think German wars is very good. He just hasn't had what he needs arrive until this season where I've seen the connection from Brian Thomas. I can build on that.
00:18:17
Speaker
ETN hasn't been what we thought he was going to be. But now you're bringing Pete Carroll where he could bring Carroll great on defenses. He could go, he could help solidify a defense that's not terrible. He didn't even tell him. He's not terrible, but I don't think Jacksonville. Bring him in, but that division sucks. You bring him in. Yeah, but Jacksonville isn't like it's ready to go and just needs his return. But it's a better, it's a better retool than I would say the Patriots job. I could say for the Patriots, at least with the Patriots job, they got a lot of cap space. And they jagged cap space.
00:18:47
Speaker
The Jams, the Jams, the Jams got cap space, but they still got to navigate the the big giant ass Trevor Lawrence contract. Well, listen, you got cast base and number six pick make it work. Like make it work. They got, they got arguably one of the worst GMs in the league. Well, he better take the best pick available. Why would, why would, why would, why would any coach sign up willingly to sign up with Trent bulky? Why? Why?
00:19:16
Speaker
He, he fired hardball. That's like saying why would he, he fired hardball and ruined the Niners before Shanahan got there. Right. Yeah. He, this, this Jaguars team before he took, took him over was, was showing promise. They, the team has moved backwards under his leadership yep and he kept his job. Yeah.
00:19:40
Speaker
yeah Why, why would, if I'm in, if I'm the first time, if I'm my first time here, coach, if I'm Ben Johnson or I'm Aaron Glenn, why would I go there? But if I'm Pete Carroll, I'm better on the block. I know if I'm Pete Carroll, like, yo, get, get this dude bulky. Even though truth be told, when they ask shad con who owns the Jaguars, like why keep bulky? He was like, if somebody give me a reason to fire him, I'll fire him. Imagine your boss being like, yo, somebody give me a reason to fire him out.
00:20:11
Speaker
And I'm like, Hey, if you're Pete Carroll coming in today, for me, I'm thinking it's a jack horse job. If I'm ready to, if I was this him, if I'm Pete Carroll, if I'm Pete Carroll, the only uncle reason I'm only reason I'm 72 years old and I'm leaving the house is to go coach the bears.
00:20:25
Speaker
i'm Maybe New Orleans. I think a better prospect than what we're going to see for terroir's. But number five, the fifth pickle in the draft, you got, you get somebody good. You got the cap space to really make a move. The barely have the capacity that you want anymore. Cause they used a lot of it last season. But I don't think the bears have as many holes as I think the bears do you bring back who the bears you've been making an hour. Yes, I would. He wants to come back. I'll bring them back. Well, it's between them and the charger. So I would Okay. If I'm, this if I'm keying out, I want to go to, if I want to go back to, if I want to go back to LA. Yeah. Frauds. It might not even be about the fraudulent thing. they weren't my oh That was just me being mean. and They weren't frauds. They were just a year or two soon. and Either way, right? Even if you want to call them frauds, whatever the case may be. Herbs are frauds.
00:21:18
Speaker
that's the that's that's a conversation for another time yeah and i don't necessarily disagree with you but yeah there we go my if i'm keening out i'm like all right i winners in chicago winners in la it's both fairly there it's there you can do well it's both fairly there have you spent a winter in chicago you can be a winner chicago thing and the new head coach no no no no no no no this could be peace winner like winter winter oh winter tur i thought you say wind isnt they they know winning in chicago
00:21:51
Speaker
when if you get pe heroro's head co like you're saying i wouldn could but it' not like it's automatic yeah but ah football anything yeah the one course you take care head does it she carro b bluster pet carro does pe carro of all the guys that's available you can be a winner in Chicago. I think in the new head. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no because Mike Tomlin, I'm not including on this list. No. Of all the guys that are available, and I'm not including Bella. He has, he has the best resume. Yes. He's once he's won a super bowl. He's, he's been a head coach in this league many years, successful everywhere. He's gone. Yes. If I'm the bears, if I'm, if I'm the Raiders, soie Jacksonville,
00:22:36
Speaker
if i'm If I'm the Jets, even though he probably wouldn't consider the Jets, but if I'm the Jets, like i I want somebody who's successful and knows how to lead a winning organization. Dallas.
00:22:52
Speaker
I mean, Dallas, if outside of Kevin Moore, um much if your name isn't Dion Sanders, I don't think you're, I don't, and even then I don't know. him Take your name out of contention. I don't even know if, if coach prom would even want to deal with it. He's kind of already denied us saying, Hey, yeah yeah yeah you like your offer blah blah blah blah blah might I love Colorado, which is because Colorado gave you so much power. Colorado's giving him like everything. he could Who, who getting power and who, who was the last coach to get any sort of quote unquote power in Dallas ourselves? Probably 20 years ago. Like, come on. That's when, that's when Jerry Jones, like, I'm not doing that ever again. So like Jerry Jones ran Jimmy Johnson out of town. So like, because we Jerry is, I feel like Jerry has wanted to like be the coach.
00:23:43
Speaker
Yeah, probably since the nineties. Yeah. And at a certain point, I think if he's going to do it, do it. I just, so again, honestly, even though he won't do it, but best coach candidate for me, for me personally, now I want to see get hired as Ben Johnson's head coach. I really do. No, I think Ben Johnson's, I think Ben Johnson is cool. I think he's good. There's a lot of guys. There's a lot of guys who are out there for these teams. Like if I'm.
00:24:13
Speaker
you know, like we we mentioned this Dallas, Vegas, Jets, Chicago, Jacksonville, have me home the scenes New Orleans. If I'm the world's like it's Mike McCarthy, Aaron Glenn, they both have ties to through the organization. Robert Sava was a, was a, is a name that's being floated back out there who probably, I mean, I don't know how bad if it was Sava or if it was the Jets, but the Jets always had a decent defense. They just couldn't get the offense squared away. Um, so if I'm maybe from New Orleans,
00:24:44
Speaker
maybe I'm going to maybe kick the tires on a solid or Aaron Glenn, Aaron Glenn, who's, who's committed, um, who's, who's committed, you know, almost a miracle by taking this, this lion's team who has been decimated by injuries. They lose a lot of guys. They've lost Brian branch. They've lost eight nudges and they've lost a lot of guys. And Aaron Glenn has turned that team around and kept that team afloat, especially on defense. We know they have a great offense, but,
00:25:12
Speaker
they completely They completely took Minnesota out the game. They completely took damn Sam Darnell out of his element in the week 18, and that for Minnesota led into their wild card loss.
00:25:25
Speaker
But if I'm a, if I'm a team, like, um, if I'm a team in need of a head coach, I'm definitely considering a guy like Aaron Glenn, b Brian Flores, same thing. I had a, had a defense, um, that was very good in Minnesota has had a head coach experience. Cliff Kingsbury, who the Raiders could have hired who the bears could have hired who now who both need head coaches. Cliff Kingsbury has a.
00:25:53
Speaker
a relationship with Caleb Williams. He coached him at USC. um But maybe Kingsbury wants to you wants to kind of be more judicious with his options. He was a coach in Arizona for a long time. There's a lot of rumors about whether or not he wants to maybe go back to the West Coast.

Coach Speculations and Fits

00:26:12
Speaker
If I'm Vegas, yo, like come I need a guy. like I need a guy to fix my offense. And they're going to need someone in that building that can be competent, put a competent office together. Look what he's done with Washington. Washington hasn't been this good in either of our lifetimes. Washington hasn't been this good since 1991. So if i'm if I'm Cliff Kingsbury, his name is out there. Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame coach, his name has been floated out there for the Bears job.
00:26:43
Speaker
Bobby slow with the Titans, ah the Texans offensive coordinator um was just as highly touted as Ben Johnson was last year. You had a Titan, the Texans offense took a step back. But I think that's not their fault injuries. They got the worst injury bug besides like not that day they had the work. I mean, Stroud kind of took a step back too. But how much of that is is slow with how much of that is Stroud? How much of that is a little bit of competition of the two?
00:27:09
Speaker
Liam Cohen, whose name is being floated out there, he's offensive coordinator in Tampa. Their offense is surprisingly good. They had the same thing with Houston. like Once they got the whole bunch of injuries, their offense kind of came back to earth. But for a while today, they was putting up 35, 40 points a game. Baker, as soon as Baker came in, Baker's fresh seen Baker looks better than he did at Brown. oh ah Joe Brady, who's the Bill's offensive coordinator, his name has been floated out there. Mike Kafka, former Eagles quarterback.
00:27:39
Speaker
current giant offensive coordinator. His name's been floated out there. Steve Sarkeesian, the coach of the University of Texas. His name is being floated. Like you got a lot of guys whose names are being floated into the ether.
00:27:50
Speaker
it could story like but We could cut a lot of these guys names out. Some of these guys aren't going to get that. I don't think Salah's going to get another head coach and job. Not anytime soon. I think he needs, I think he needs him. There's a lot of guys who like need that he need the coordinator job again to build their reputation back up. Cause like with, like with Flores, Flores was the head coach took a DC job.
00:28:10
Speaker
And now his name is starting to percolate back up. he having more I don't blame him. Kyle Moore never got the chance to be the HC, but he's been an OC name count. He kind of, you know, took a step back. and now kind part it because it is to speak now for I think is because of the cowboy familiarity and how many people actually would want to take that job. yeah And he had, he had been in the building forever. Well, you also got to think for Kelly more seek.
00:28:37
Speaker
he's unfortunate that show out want if I'm telling more, right. And I've been in the building and I know how this this stuff works and I know how to do. I really want to go work for them. If you're a team looking at more, you have to look at the fact that it's like, ah yeah, you were good in Dallas.
00:28:56
Speaker
your charter season questionable only because I blame, I blame, that I blame Brandon Staley for that a thousand percent, but it's still, is it goes on his or him as well. It's unfortunate, but you're tied together and it's Eagle season has been an up and down affair real. And it's up said the mirrors up and down because of the play of the the offense.
00:29:18
Speaker
Both the Syriani of it all besides like early in the season where you're like, hey, Syriani made would making them dumb play calls that it feel kicking field goals. But then again, we'll get the field goals of just the NFL in entirety kick or stink this season. Kellerman's offense went from the first two weeks to be okay. We see it. We see the vision to all right. We're, we're back to one track. It looks like putrid. Oh, we're back. It's been an up and down roller coaster. But is that, you makes ho on like but my get call is that him or is that the quarterback?
00:29:49
Speaker
If it could be both, but if that's the case, you as the office coordinator gotta get your quarterback. You gotta to go on the same page with your quarterback. It ain't like, that's it. That's why you're the coordinator. Yeah, but that is a lot of times that we blame coordinators and coaches. Players play players, execute players, players got to do so much. We have that, but you're talking about now you're a guy who wants a head coaching job. Other GMs and other organizations look at you and like, you can't get on the same page as this team. That's heavily stacked and heavily glorified because they got one of the best offenses. How are we going to bring you in as a head coach and you couldn't make this work.
00:30:26
Speaker
So it doesn let in jart you're talking from a point of logic. We're talking about the Dallas Cowboys here. There's no logic. there air It's, it's, are you ah willing to be a yes, man for the boss upstairs?

Saints' Uncertain Future

00:30:38
Speaker
the answer is Yes. Then you got a shot. And then that thing as at a certain point, it's like, does Kelly Moore want that? Like,
00:30:46
Speaker
Do I really want to deal with that? He's had freedom these past two years where I've watched play calling and plays look so much more fluid with him as an offensive coordinator than I've seen in Dallas where he looked rigid at one point. So i'm I Dallas is to be whatever it is. I really i can't really speak much on it. I'd rather any of the job but the Dallas job.
00:31:11
Speaker
But the Jess job. And I'm finicky on the Saints job. Finicky as in I just don't know like the organization of the Saints. It it just confuses me as to what what do you want? What do you want? Do you want to win? Do you want to rebuild? You're in the low or void. They're the same. They're the same. Are you though? Tennessee. Are you though? Same thing. What do you know? I know where Tennessee is going though. You don't know. You don't know year to year what Tennessee is going to do.
00:31:39
Speaker
You don't know year to year what New Orleans is going to do. You don't know year to year what but ah Jacksonville is going to do. They're rebuilding. The Jags didn't think they were going to go into a rebuild because they shouldn't have had to. You're two years removed from being a team where you're like, oh, you're competent and you're going to be good. Jags are fraud. The Saints, they've never been a team that actually went through a rebuild. If you think about it in the past 10 years, they've never been a team that's really going through a heavy rebuild or anything. They're a team that make you go get a couple pieces let's because they were it were in hell forever. That's why Sean Payton left. Anyone deal with that? And now and yeah he go coach he got the team coach headed up by the Wal-Mart family and they out there are spending big money on both. And That offense surprisingly well for the first draft. Well, I mean, look who you played. like First off, this is a team that was not supposed to be in the playoffs.
00:32:33
Speaker
Just throwing out there. The Broncos were not supposed to be in the playoffs. That's a great coach about Peyton and a quarterback played by that. You're not supposed to be there. You weren't. The Bengals supposed to be in. Y'all weren't even supposed to have this many wins. Let alone sniff a playoff game. But that's why I like what I've seen over in Denver. I like what I saw. You're the Saints. You're the opposite. I don't like what I'm seeing. I don't know what ah what I'm going to see. I don't know where you're going.
00:33:00
Speaker
Derek cars are talking my hand taking a pay cut. He's like I proven I don't I don't deserve one. i What if you have? You know how to throw the ball deep a couple of times so you're receiving that got hurt. Oave was oblivious. This season was not seen. By you, the quarterback.
00:33:16
Speaker
Yeah, he was singing about a doctor after they kept getting hospital balls. Dude, suicide balls from Carr, which is what he's been known for, but we kept trying to say, no, it's just bad, bad looks. He make the wrong, re he's been throwing a suicide balls his entire career, which was a lot of things that were our receivers that used to play with Carr used to come at him for, one of which was Amari Cooper. Crabtree. These are guys that would be like, yo, he throws bad balls.
00:33:42
Speaker
Devonte Adams might want to start saying the same, but hey, they, they, they used to, their best friends used to be roomies in college. That ain't going to happen, but card those suicide balls and look what happened to Olave. If I'm the saint, why am I bringing him back? um If I'm the saint or a head coach going to that job, what am, what am I looking forward to out of this organization? Your team's non-existent at this point. The only thing I can say that you made a relatively good move in doing was getting Latham or out of there quick.
00:34:09
Speaker
because at this point I'm not paying an aging cornerback who's looks like he's gonna, he's beat. I'm gonna be honest with you, he's beat. Yeah, the Bucks lost, but it wasn't like Mike Evans in that match up there. You remember when you said them battles, Mike Evans, a lot of more battles. It's over. Mike's won. You beat, you toast now. So I'm like, yeah, the only good thing I can say about the same so far is you got out of that quick, saved you some cash and got some capital back.
00:34:37
Speaker
From then on, I don't know what else you got. I don't. There's nothing I look forward to of yours. If you're a Saints fan or the Saints organization, bring in your head coach. I'm a head coach. I'm like, that's really, that's really the noise you made. You're right. Where are we going here? What's, what's, what's, what's, what's on my radar? What are we talking about? So I'm, I don't know. There's this coach in Carousel. It's going to be something to say. It's going to be something Jared. Let's, let's, let's talk about.
00:35:05
Speaker
NFL wildcard weekend. I know we were going to talk about the NBA. Do we want to talk about anybody anybody now? ah do You talk about them being played at this moment. People, people ask me, people still ask me to Chris, Chris, do you, do you still feel like the Sixers are good? and that No, no. Did we ever feel like the six be good at a point?
00:35:31
Speaker
Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris, do you feel like the Sixers can make the playoffs? Well, can they finish 10? No. Yes. No. They can finish 10. No, no. Make the playoffs. The playing is not good. Oh, well, would they, oh, finish six? Hell no. Will they make the playoffs? No. Yes. They'll make the playoffs. They're going to be eight. They're going to be eight and play Cleveland. Why? I'm talking. They're going to be eight and play Cleveland. That's a sweet.
00:36:00
Speaker
This team sucks. There's nothing, this team sucks. There's nothing worth, there's nothing we're talking about with this team. My mindset as a whole has completely changed for this organization. Like it's, this team's watched.

NFL Playoff Predictions

00:36:13
Speaker
Like still a direct fit, which is why I can say the way things I have to say. This team is glorifiably the Jets in all council where we have the Cowboys Cowboys might be worse than the Cowboys. Cause I'm like.
00:36:29
Speaker
No, we just we do ride the co-tales of finals appearance. I am not even a championship, just a finals appearance. We're the Bills. No, at least the Bills made it. No, the Bills might win the Super Bowl this year. I can't. I mean, I said the Bills yet. The Bills don't win the Super Bowl. I'm out. You were in on the Bills? I think the Bills should. No, no. The Ravens are going to the Super Bowl this year.
00:36:51
Speaker
are they not you know ran Are you, are you willing to make, are you about to make predictions? um bro i'm throwing the house on the ravens coming this weekend bill Those dogs at home. they should be hunt the for good what's a why should they be the the the that the those look just as good as the ravens do Did you not see who's going to be I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Let me, let me rephrase this sentence. Have you not watched the guy who's not going to win MVP play continues like an MVP this season and it looks like he's going to Super Bowl. Come on. Come on, man. Listen, I listen, I like Lamar. I really do. And I'm like, hol he's m people worried but, but let's talk about, let's talk about their resumes and their track records. One of these guys or both may not show up on Sunday.
00:37:42
Speaker
And it ain't going to be Lamar or Marshawna. Yeah, but is Lamar, when is Lamar going to show up? Is he going to show up and at the in the fourth quarter when this game is, when it's 31-7? It'll be the third quarter when, you know, they're in like a 14-7 situation and all of a sudden they just go crazy. and Yeah, but is it going to be Lamar? Is it going to be Derek Henry?
00:38:03
Speaker
He'll probably be both because that's what normally happens at this point. They don't know crazy. We're talking. No, no, no, no, no. Cause everybody's marketing. This game is is Josh Allen versus Lamar Jackson. As if my bar Jackson plays safety as if Josh Allen is playing linebacker. You know what I'm saying? Like one of these guys, we talk, we talk about these guys as, you know, whoever wins this game is going to go to the Superbowl as if Kansas city or Houston, but Kansas city is going to just roll over.
00:38:29
Speaker
and lose they don't really but I have no faith. I have none in Baltimore going into Kansas city and winning. I have no faith. I have zero faith in Buffalo, but Baltimore, the revenge game is sweet. They, I got them. Baltimore, Baltimore had the opportunity in Kansas city and I say likely was real unlikely at the back of the end zone. But now he he's been locked in. He hasn't been. He's been locked in there. I think you I think you are nonsense. I just want I just want to tell you Ravens, man. I think you are nonsense. I'm just I'm just saying you just scored the last game. They've been making sure they get him involved. The offense has been clicking. Bill's dominate locally, please.
00:39:20
Speaker
Raven did too. What could they play? Like again, Texans and she chiefs is going to be a walkthrough for the cheese. A walkthrough? Walkthrough. No, no faith in the Texans. No, I'm out. I think you've been, I think you've been very. No, no, it's not those, those crazy. did would Are you the one that said it was like, man, we, we, we never knock. We'll see the Texas point on Saturday. Like, I didn't say that, but that's, that's, i got know like man, Texas love Saturday. Like Saturday at three 30.
00:39:50
Speaker
I don't have the cheese one. I mean, I don't have the Texas one. I don't have, I don't even have the Texas one. You made that abundantly clear. I don't have them coming to spread either. You being very disrespectful to the Texas. I'm not though. I'm really not. I think you are. It's just, no, they don't have, no, they don't got it. And when I say got it, they, they hurt like they just heard. No, I'm out. Ravens, Ravens chiefs. He was lions. I hear you.
00:40:20
Speaker
that yeah you was li raymon cheese Who comes out of that Raven's Eagles. Oh, right here you go. I'm not listening. I'm not finna say all right is beating even though it's It's more than likely I'm not saying Raven's Eagles That's the way I'm foot. That's the way I gotta flip it Uh, currently right now, I can tell you you're locked in six game tie game. so Oh, interesting. 2 2.2 seconds off. Yeah. Interesting. Anyway, and I think, I think if I'm making a prediction, I'd i'd have came to the city as well in this game. I liked what I saw from Houston after them looking terrible for about a quarter and a half. ah Huh?
00:41:12
Speaker
like what you saw after Houston after Houston pulled their head out of there you know what on a third and forever CJ Stroud made something happen they flipped the momentum huge uh charges couldn't recover and they they put they put the charges away right yeah they got Chargers couldn't get in any offense together for interceptions by Herbert completely. Just just completely fell on the face, right? Yeah, but you look at opportunity like ah that Houston had. They made the most of their opportunity. When the Chargers couldn't convert touchdowns and they were kicked, they kicked two field goals in the first quarter it was six nothing. Houston went down the field, marched down the field, made a seven nothing after the
00:41:59
Speaker
snapped the fumbled s snap. Then they get an interception right before half. They kick a field goal, make it 10-6. Game was over at that point because the Chargers, the Chargers couldn't recover. The Chargers could not get their momentum back together. Houston did what good teams do and that's put foot on foot on neck and ended the game, right? We'll see what Kansas City looks like. You know, they're obviously the reigning champions, back to back champions.
00:42:30
Speaker
You're not going to tell me that Houston isn't going to give them their best effort.
00:42:36
Speaker
Will Houston cover? like What's the spread? um As of right now. As of right now. What's the spread? Let me tell you. cause i
00:42:51
Speaker
I'm curious to see what Vegas thinks of this game, because obviously public consensus would say like, oh, it's an outside of the game. And yeah, Houston has no shot. But chiefs are at so a six, eight and a half spread. Eight and a half. So two point conversion and a and a and a and a and a two point touchdown two point.
00:43:22
Speaker
I think Houston covers. um I'm thinking the game is going to be 20. 2626 20.
00:43:35
Speaker
twenty six twenty
00:43:38
Speaker
That's not bad. That's not bad. I don't know. I still see it. Listen, we gotta see our Kansas City look now Kansas City come out and put foot foot on neck.
00:43:51
Speaker
than it is what it is, but the game, the game, obviously that everyone I think is looking forward to seeing is Ravens bills. Like that's obviously the main event of this, of this divisional weekend.

Steelers' Offensive Strategy and Future

00:44:03
Speaker
Um, the bills obviously like they feet on Denver after that first drive, Denver was out of it. Yeah. And Ravens Ravens just punched, you know, punch the Steelers in the mouth to Steelers. Steelers had no offense. Like Steelers need to get their offense together.
00:44:20
Speaker
to get the office together. And to talk about getting rid of Mike Tomlin. I'm not a i'm not a fan of it. I think Tomlin has done a great job. Steelers should be careful. Steelers should be very careful because you never know. you I mean, it's very hard to go through, you know, to go from Chuck Knoll to Bill Cower to Mike Tomlin. Because once you start, once you start matter of fact, beyond that, what? the
00:44:56
Speaker
Sorry, I muted myself accidentally. What the hell did Bill Coward do? From 93 or whenever, when did he get higher? I think it was 93 something like that. Yeah. 92 93 93 between that and no six. What did he do? He was a suitable once they won. Did they win it? They won. Yeah, they won. And and they won 40.
00:45:19
Speaker
Huh? Against Seattle. And Mike Tomlin was one of those. And then Mike Tomlin took over right after that, and they were back in Super Bowl a year later. Yeah. They won an OE. Yep. And they went back again in 2010. Yeah, I know they haven't had success in the postseason since 2016. But this is not his fault. Look at the quarterbacks they've had. Look what not not even they've had. No, look at the offense they've had. Yeah, that's the issue. When they when do they decide? you know This is the thing.
00:45:48
Speaker
they need i know it this facebookberg still was want to play smash mouth nineteen mash do but you can break the like you when great When do they break the bank for an offense? When do we do it? When? When do we do it? that. I mean, yeah, I know Arthur Smith in there and all that. but I got to say, I made the jokes, like, yeah, he used to deal with Slop and you saw his you saw his track record this year with Slop. But at the end of the day, it's Slop. Dude, they don't, they have nothing to speak of for me personally, or just like, it's not me personally. If you're an NFL official now, they have nothing to speak of when it comes to an offense. Nothing. Yeah, you got runs. Yeah, you got pickings, but that's it. Najee Harris, he's cool. Art move cool. right That's cool.
00:46:40
Speaker
Najee's cool, but he's not. He's not the always still we thought he was gonna be. Yeah, he was great Alabama, but again behind offensive line that is the Steelers equal. cool. Like there's all this, lines but if you're not if you're anybody who's playing the steel, is that the passing game? make scar ji ji It's not. So you can create this. You can't have established a run when you know that passing games a week, not Jalen Warren. He ain't fit. I'm not afraid of a elusive receiving back. I'm sorry. I'm not because pickings is the only receiver they have. The only one that you ever, you drafted him and you just never got him a running mate. You never got him a partner and there are options.
00:47:17
Speaker
like let's not act like oh no there was nothing for there was guys available that you could bring in could have brought in could have traded it for you did nothing you you sit and you t twinkle your fingers and say oh no we're good over here we were where we they're they're literally like an NCAA franchise no we're homegrown over here you're not it ain't working out It isn't. When do you break the bank and get the offense you need? And you could say, oh, it's this coming soon. But when does it come soon? Well, it's not coming soon enough, because now Payton's like, nah, this offense ain't it. And they could have got guys like, yeah, you flopped on the IU trade. But guess what? That had changed this whole trajectory for you all this season. I firmly put my foot down and say, this whole offeat this whole season would have been different if you went all in on IU.
00:48:03
Speaker
All in. Don't back out of it. Don't say, Oh, it adds too much. I don't care. Do it. So if you're, if you're the Steelers, do you move on from Tomlin? No, just no, so get him an offense, man. like no Cause at this point they like, Oh, I remember the member when Tom had had an ah offense. Yeah. I remember when he, he had an Oneo Brown.
00:48:23
Speaker
and it or or I remember when he had Mark Heath. I remember when he had Ben Rosberg. My thoughts, big Ben is big Ben. He was great and he started trickling down.
00:48:36
Speaker
But I remember a big bench and his worst is better than they've anything they've had since literally. Or I remember when you just had the one or half a season, one and a half seasons of ah Antonio Brown and Judas Massachusetts, where, man, at least the office, the office was dangerous. Still, it was dangerous. still Like it was that we had a point. We were like, oh, you had a passing game. They did. They that' when they were like, you had to pass a game. The run game was gone because you let they let what's his name go.
00:49:04
Speaker
Oh man, Leveon Bell go. They let Bell go so they just had a more of a passing game, no run game. Now it's a complete flip. They need to get back to what Tom one really is about, which is a complete on both sides of the offense.
00:49:19
Speaker
defense is always locked in. Like they turn no names on de defense at the studs. Now get, now mind you TJ Watt was always a stud. But hey, that's what they do. Offensively, you're not doing that with this, with this crop of guys. You're not. It's really time to go in. If Chris, when I just named you some of the free agents, this is the team that needs to spend money on guys. If you want to go make a trade, well, hey, guess what? They're guys available to trade with. I honestly think the bears might trade you anymore. Go get them.
00:49:48
Speaker
Go get them. Yeah, but if you're at Pittsburgh, like, is it even worth it? Yes. Because at this point, they need both. It doesn't matter who they got at the receiver. I mean, OK. I shouldn't say that. I shouldn't say that. If you feel like Russ is good enough, yeah, obviously, give him as many weapons as possible. Give me fields, man. I'm sorry.
